so come on in and stay. We'll do our best

(00:34):

Speaker 1 (00:35):
You smile with the indoors.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
What is happening? I'm roblin Quist and I'm Bugs and
we are the Avid Indoorsman. Hello everyone, Hello.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
How are you, buddy? I'm doing great, pal, just living
the life out here. Well, summertime fun. How about you?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
How are you summertime fun? Indeed, did you do anything
fun this last weekend?

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Yeah, we had to a graduation party for a friend
of the fam, so we went to that. They did
one a little later, which actually I kind of like
it's fun to, you know, be able to go to
a different one. So it was great. Uh So my
family came down and hung out for that, and then
we went to the grad party, like, yeah, it was nice.

(01:21):
I don't know, it's just hung out, ate some food
like you do. Those grad parties are good for that,
they really are. They really are some real good food.
They had lots of candy, which I was a fan
of nice a fan of Yeah. And then I have
a birthday party coming up this weekend, so that'll be though.
You do excited for that. That'll be fun. How about you?

(01:44):
What have you guys been up to?

Speaker 3 (01:45):
We went back up to the cabin again this last weekend,
a lot of fun, caught a lot of fish, which
was really fun.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Vern went sorry it was smoky. Sorry, my mom was
just like it was terrible up here, and it was
not great down here either.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
But the day that it rained, it was kind of
like that day it rained in the cities where you
would think that it would like dissipate, but all did
was just push all of that smoke down further. And
that was really intense. That was on the first day.
That was on Friday, and then Saturday was a little

(02:23):
bit better, and that was when we caught some fish.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Dude. We caught like that's.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Fifteen or sixteen fish between three of us, and they
were like all good size, and I just it was
so much fun. It's my first three casts. Boom boom boom.
I was like, you guys, I don't know what's going on.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
We either have the fish forever or never stop.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
I don't know what it is. But we had so
much fun and Vern went and caught a six pounder.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
It was insane. That's great. So we still like doing
that too. They do that was.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
There were some other adults that were up so it
was just me and Yeah, but yeah. They just kind
of did some dog fishing and stuff this time, and
we got to do some swimming.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
And there's other exciting things happening. I get it, you know, dude.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
So it was a great weekend. I'm not going to
be able to go up there for a while, so
we we.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Lived it up. I love it. Though you guys have
been there, you've been making the most of the time available,
which for sure. Yep, that's fun and I.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Was really excited. I got my shirt today. This is
the Traverse City pit Spitters.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
They are super into cherries and Traverse City. We went
to the Cherry Festival out there and that is their
that's their minor league baseball team.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
I figured as much. That's amazing. I love those minor
league teams. Just killing it. I love them. I love
the logos, I love the names. I am a fan.
I had cherries tonight, unrelated, but they were just tasty.
Was it a jubilee? Great question? Next question? I don't know. Sure, sure,

(03:58):
I don't feel like was it an official party? I
don't know. I feel like I heard Cherrie's jubilee is
like a dessert. What does that mean? I don't know.
It was just the cherry by itself, just pits out
of a bag, hunched over a sink. That's I eat him. Yeah,

(04:18):
I get it. That one. It's with ice cream. I'm
gonna look this up. But while I do that, will
you look up or no? Tell me? Sorry? Okay, what
movie have you seen recently? You know?

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I watched a movie outline go I did, pretty entertaining
movie with the worst title ever.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Uh and it was called plane plane. Holl's that This
was Gerard Butler is the main guy in this. He's
a pilot.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Yeah, he's a pilot that has to crash land a
commercial airliner on an island that's been taken over by militia.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah, no government there. And Luke Cage guy that's also
that his name.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
His name is Mike Colter, and he was most popular
for playing Luke Cage. Honestly, it's the first thing I've
seen since then him playing that.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yeah, and he was pretty badass in this. So the
movie was fun though, because I actually think the title
is what partly maybe not watch it because I was
just like, we could nothing nothing, I couldn't think of
anything plane.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
But yeah, I mean I thought it was very entertaining.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
It's stressful.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
It's a lot of action, solid action movie. That's it's
It's on the Apple TV Plus. It might have been
a straight to stream. Maybe it was a commercial release.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
I'm not sure release, but I certainly didn't see it
in the theater.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
I watched it on Apple TV Plus and I was delighted.
That's fun. I like it nice. I like Gerard Butler.
I feel like he too guff but I always think
he's fun.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
He is fun in this and yeah, he's it's fun
because like he's a pilot and he can like he's
not like he doesn't have an army ranger background or
something what I mean, wow, Like he's just kind of
a regular guy.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
To stretch for him. Okay, Yeah, Okay, so it was
kind of fun, fun nice. What about You was the
last movie you watched. I went to the theater and
we watched Megan two point zero.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
Rob, you watched the first one. You went to the
theater for the first one.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Yeah. Yeah, Dave loves these dumb horror movies. So I've
been going to a lot and they are fun some
of the time some of the part of the time.
This one is not like super scary. Even the first
one wasn't super scary. It's basically Chucky, you know, like
it's that kind of vibe. But I never watched Chucky,
so I guess it's just a doll. So I've never

(06:54):
seen Chucky, so I can't really say that, but I'm
guessing it similar.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
I think Chucky is more of like a demon, where
this is like, this is like a robot.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Right, Yeah, this is an AI situation, so you're probably
right about that. I shouldn't have said that having never
seen a second of Truck. It's a toy, That's all
I got for you, right, But the first one was
definitely more of a horror film. This one, they really have.
They transitioned straight to an action movie almost in this one.

(07:26):
Which was actually kind of fun. So it's like it
is the the joyous kind of like dumb, you know,
just like our calling card says for both of us,
it is a joyful dumbness that you will like. It's
very silly. It's got Alison Williams is the star of these.
She was in the first one too, right, yeah, yeah,
and she's like the inventor, so that's kind of fun

(07:47):
to see her in this, you know, hanging out. And
Jamaine Clement is in this one, which was just really
fun because he's so silly and fun and that really
comes through. But yeah, this movie it's dumb, but in
a great way. So like if you're looking for I
think it's still in the theater. Even so if you're
looking for like an ac theater experience, you know, sometimes

(08:10):
you're just like, I don't want to be outside anymore,
feeling or you see catch it on a streamer later.
I thought it was pretty fun, and I also spoiler alert,
presume there will be more of these now because that
seemed like what we were setting up. So uh, silly,
good time. Megan two point zero and the E is

(08:31):
a three in the name. If you're trying to look
it up. So it's sure, m three Gamesagan.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
The three So isn't the thing that she's more like
a teenager now instead of like a kid?

Speaker 1 (08:46):
She gets rebuilt? Right?

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Yea, So I remember seeing a trailer was like, oh, yeah, she's.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Like an adolescent now, I guess right, roughly growing up
at the same age as the little girl that she
befriends in the first one. Sure, well the friends slash
terrorizes you draw the line. I don't know where it is. Yeah,
but yeah, I thought that was pretty fun. I definitely
cackled at various points, like it is a it is stupid,

(09:14):
but in a very fun way. I thought. So, yeah,
I've you been streaming anything?

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Yes, not as exciting because you had just talked about this,
but it is one of the last things I streamed
as well, and it was that movie Deep Cover.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
With Orlando Bloom and Nick Time.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
I loved it. I loved it way more than I
was expecting to. I was kind of it was before
we were about to go out for like a week
of shows, and I was like, I need some stuff,
you know, totally to watch. So I downloaded some stuff.
I looked at Rotten Tomatoes. I was like, what this
is getting like an eighty five percent.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
This like I don't know, my glowing recommendation.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Well, this was this was before before even it was
even before. Yeah, because I was able to tell you
a little bit because I had seen it as well.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Well that's right, Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
I'm sorry, sorry, but I just couldn't believe how well
received it was. And it was like a straight to prime.
I was like, okay, I'll try it.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
So much fun all that to say.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
It came in under the radar. I really loved it.
I tend to love those movies. And yeah, they just
take improv actors put them in an undercover operation to
try and take down some criminals. And that's a really
fun recipe for some good times.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
And kind of a setup that I'd never heard of before.
Was fun. Yeah, it was. It was a similar setup
that we've maybe seen kind of but yeah, yeah, that exactly.
I don't know. I just thought was fun, but it was.
It was. It was more fun than it needed to
be together.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Orlando Bloom, It's one of my favorite things he's ever done,
aside from his big franchises. It's for sure my favorite
things he has done outside of those. Yeah, for sure
thought it was a lot of fun, and it's it's
on Prime, you can stream it.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
It's a good time. Check it out. It's fun, fun
time and short. What about it was?

Speaker 3 (11:08):
Yeah, it was It was reasonable for sure. What was
the last thing you streamed?

Speaker 1 (11:14):
So I watched on hmm Netflix? It was it looks
like becoming led Zeppelin. The little dot that they have
going on there really fun. I didn't know a ton
about led Zeppelin. I liked some of their tunes, but
I'm not like a huge crazy fan. You weren't getting

(11:34):
the lead out? Well I was, but well I always
go slow. But yes, no, I really wasn't a zephead.
But it was really fun to just see how this
group formed, all the ways that they were influenced by
other bands, and then just always as we know, you know,

(11:55):
I was only in the music scene for you know,
a much smaller level honestly than led Zepp, but just
the different iterations people go through with these bands and
groups in general, and you know, the crazy winding roads
they take. But this was super, super fun. It had
a ton of footage of them at various ages, which
was really cool. It had a ton of footage of

(12:17):
them like I don't know. It's different than the Beatles one.
That one was really like almost like a reality show
where you got to see the behind the scenes. This
was a little bit more like concerty and stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
I still didn't finish that. I don't know what my problems.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Oh really funny, Yes, well dude, I get it though.
Like I never watched the Basketball one, the Jordan doc
for some of the last dance. It's so dumb. I
love basketball and you would love it. And it was
during COVID and I just never watched it and still
have not gone back to it. So I get it.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Something that's just worth going back and see. You would
love it so much.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
All the time, I'm like, actually, I really wish I
had something to watch, and I just refused to watch it. Yeah.
I don't even know where that one is. I have
no idea. I don't know either, have to google it.
But anyway, uh, LED's epp one, super super fun. Uh.
I recommend it if you like their music at all,
or if you just like the if you like those
kind of music documentaries, I think you'll really enjoy it.

(13:21):
It was super fun. They seem like really cool guys.
And then you know, they have some Lord of the
Ring songs, so obviously I like those, but I love
a bunch of their tunes, you know. I feel like
it's course almost impossible not to like at least some
of them. But of course, but it was really fun.
I liked it. It was cool. Cool, But wait, you
already did streaming? Yes, great as always over on the

(13:48):
Twitter machine where we're at ab an endorsement with a Z.
You go to Facebook dot com slash the endorsement, and well, uh, Instagram, TikTok,
blue Sky threats everywhere else. At have an endorsement there
as well. But if you're alwer to hang out be
part of the crew. Spot to go.

Speaker 3 (14:05):

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Thanks.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Another perk that we we give our patrons is an
extended version of every episode that.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
We put out.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
We usually do a top five draft that pertains.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
To the movie.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
True, I would guess we've done this one before, but
I can't believe that we haven't.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
I didn't find it if well, we definitely have done
Best Villains of the MCU, right, but this.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
We have never just done. Apparently you guys let us
know if we're wrong.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Top five movie villains we don't seem so rap. Now
I'm just gonna let me.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
This is This was so much fun, such a great cabory,
like forty five of them. Of course three hundred and
fifty episodes later. Uh, this is one we definitely need
to be doing. And if I'm really honest, I don't
have that many because there's just so many, so.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Many right that it's that is just so good.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
So it's going to be a good draft. So you're
gonna want to stick around and hear that it's.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
Gonna be great. Make sure to check it out papreon
dot com, slash the evandorsment check it out, do it
do it. Uh, And we are here today to talk
about a lovely film that is celebrating its It just
came out annivers It just came out hour so much fun.
We did it. We're here to talk a little Superman gang.

(15:55):
I think it's just called Superman, right, I guess I
should it is, but I thought that's what it is,
and we had to get he's for sure one of
the top five Superman officionados. We know he loves the Superman. Yes,
love Superman, and we love him a ton. So give
it up for our Superman himself.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
Benny Ellen, what's up, Benny?

Speaker 4 (16:19):
What is up? My dear sweet lovers? Hi, so good.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
We send you so much lately, and it's been wonderful.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
It's the best man, I tell you what, it's been
a real pledge, real pledge.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
The plague is all on this side table right over here. Agreed, celebrate,
I celebrate your guys' entire catalog. Yes, yeah, oh yeah yeah.
It's great to be back in Burbank.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
Read to be back in Burbank, Johnny, I tell you about.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
I am darned excited to be back for this.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Oh dude, yeah. I mean as soon as we saw
it that it was coming out, I was like, well,
I know who we have to have.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
I mean, we wouldn't have been friends anymore if you hadn't,
So it's good.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Then you said them, Yep.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
Also, it's weird for me because I've I've only ever
done movies with you guys that I've seen like thirty times, right, right,
it's certainly not one that I've only seen once and
nineteen hours ago.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Right, Yes, so it is.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
It's it's kind of it's I think it's gonna be
good to discuss it just for my own Yeah, you know,
because I've been just sort of processing all day, to
be honest.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Same, you've had more hours than I. This is the
first time I've ever gone to the theater and then
had to do the outline of the day to day.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Yes, it is the only time you go. Yeah, it's crazy,
he went, Yes, if I for the listeners, I am
on the road working right now, and I'm I've been
traveling from New York to Miami, and if I had
had more time, I would have seen it again today.
I would watched it again this morning. You know. We

(18:10):
we did the opening night and then yesterday I was like,
I should really just see it again because it'll be
it's so hard to like you guess said, I mean, look,
this is what we're going to talk about but I.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
I had I was trying to temper my expectations, and
you know, I didn't want to. I didn't want to
be too analytical. I just wanted to enjoy it obviously
the first time, so I was like, I'm not gonna
I'm not gonna like sit here and take notes. I
just wanted to take it in. And I'm just like,
as we'll talk about, there's a lot to take in.

(18:42):
So I'm like i've been.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
It's yeah, and these, for whatever reason, these movies, I
I feel like I'm almost the opposite where like the
first one, I'm like, oh, so what are they going
to do? Oh? What's going to like? You know, what
is the theme going to be for this? And it's
always the second time, I'm like, oh, I just get
to like hang and enjoy it and let it wash over.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
I don't know, I think that's that's fair. I mean,
I think that's exactly how it would be. I guess,
I guess I agree. I think I just the second time,
like when I do when I do musicals, and my
mom always loves she always talks about how she loves
to come. She's like when I when I see it
the second or third time is when I really it

(19:25):
like sinks in.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Yeah, and again we'll talk about it.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
But there's so much happening in this movie that I'm
just it's hard for me to even process today.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
There are a lot of stuff, lots of stuff going on.
So it will be super super super Man. Uh. What
also will be super is both playing at the paper
Mill Playhouse. Are boys going to be boy? It's going
to be a big time that's exciting, big time classic classic,

(20:02):
big cat that is October November, if anyone's playing it
Jersey that is. It is a nice little show. I
will say. The music's very catchy, very good. Ron Shelton,
who wrote and directed the film, also wrote.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
The uh script, So it's good.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
It's good.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
I don't do a lot in it, to be honest,
but I have like a fun little feature scene.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
But you just come in, you crush, and then exactly
exactly right.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
If it was to me, I would even bow. I
would just go home afterwards. But hell yeah, but they
make me and as you guys know, I do need
that applause. So I heard that if I could get
the applause without doing anything, man, I asked Stephanie.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
To applaud all the time, and I don't get nothing. Yeah,
especially especially not after intimacy.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Oh well, sometimes they applaud when I'm done. Come on, don't.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Say that, Oh you're a gentle lover.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Golf clap. They actually they're like, I was actually applauding
you starting, and it just happened to sound like it
was continuing. She's like, she's like.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
That was only a minute and a half. Why am
I so sweet? Am I so sweaty?

Speaker 1 (21:29):
And I'm like, that's me Sorry, I'll give you a
two hundred and eighty five reasons why. It's like someone
it's like someone dipped a bear rug in salt water
and threw it over me and then slapped me in
the face. I wish I would have either gobblewer on
the way or higher, because now I feel like that

(21:51):
I was just being honest, but I don't want to
know that. No good seven hundred pounds. Oh you guys. Anyway,
that's gonna be a silly good time. Go check it
out paper Mill play House. Do it. I'm gonna try
and get out there. He and p fall trip hopefully
planned for out there. Anyway, Let's do what enjoy it.

(22:11):
The music is really good. It's it's nice. Oh yeah, dude.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Yeah, I'm due for a trip out there too. It's
been a long time.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
Let's uh, let's talk. Although you're gonna be so busy,
so busy, so busy. I have just nothing going on.
It's great. But we're here today to talk a little
Superman action. Yeahman, uh, and I think we should get
right into it, Robb, you want to hit us with
a rough SYNAPSI shum up. Okay.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
When Superman gets drawn into conflicts at home and abroad,
his actions are questioned, giving tech billionaire Alex Luthor the
opportunity to get the Man of Steel out of the
way for good will. Intrepid reporter Lois Lane and Superman's
four legged companion Crypto be able to help him before

(22:59):
it's due to.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
Really nice, really great, great, right, thanks, it's going to
rotten to models in Newark, they have to say, critics
have it coming in at eighty eight three. Now, nice,
nice critics. Eighty three That was still a little bit
lower than I thought. Yeah, so I don't know what
you have, rob. I had audiences at ninety three. That yep, yep, okay, cool, Yeah,

(23:27):
that's pretty happens like thats like we would.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Have guessed, like a mid eighties critic for this, I think,
I mean just going off of how I feel like
reacts to things.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
But you know, yeah, which is of course very.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
They're all over the place on the on the superhero movies.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Yeah, and given some of the subject matter, will surprised
me if it was like, you know, submarines by various people,
you know, yeah, that would make sense.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
I guess I would like to see they have a
way to know when that's happening now.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
But yeah, yeah, I just kinda like the.

Speaker 4 (24:06):
Algorithm should be able to sort out like a one
or you know, I mean that's not real like for
any movie really.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
I mean I've seen someones.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
Well but that's really low. That's like, that's crazy. But anyway,
keep going please.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
I was just gonna say, well, let's hear what we think.
It's time for our take. That's a hot take. That's
a hot take. Laser beams out of the eyeball, he
has those, I can go. First. I was a little

(24:47):
nervous about this movie or just excited. I didn't know
what to it. Like with you, the inaugural of this
new DCU, you know, under the helm of James Gunn.
I really thought this was super super fun overall. More
than anything, I thought it brought back that comic y
style of just kind of like flashy colors like he's

(25:10):
done before. James Gunn is so good at making me
like protective of superheroes, and I really think that is
like his best quality when it comes to these movies,
whether it's you know, a tree that is all but
immortal and I care about it even though it only
says one word, or you know, anthropomorphized raccoon, you know,

(25:33):
or like Peter Quill or whatever, right, Like, that is
something he's so good at, and he does it with
Superman in this movie, which I love a lot. I
think it's I do think there is arguably too much
going on in it at some points it can get
like a little clunky, but that vibe of just like
fun and Superman wanting to do good is like omnipresent

(25:57):
throughout it, and to me, that's the most important part.
So I just loved that a ton. I thought he
did great with like the homages to the former Superman,
you know, stuff that was going on, and you can
tell that he just loves this world. And you know,
these nerdy comic book stuff. I think he's great at that.

(26:18):
He brings so much levity into every one of his films,
and he has yet to like cross that line, you know,
like the Love and thunder line that some people didn't
like that because it got just like a little too goofy.
I don't think he's there yet, and I think it's
just really fun. Overall. I really liked this a lot.
I loved you know, Superman as a character is always

(26:38):
I've always really enjoyed him because of the topics that
come up, being that he is an alien and you know,
inherently an outsider not only in New York or Metropolis,
but also to you know, the world itself. Super interesting
that all these plot points which have been in Superman
forever are very omnipresent today, you know, like it really

(27:01):
felt like he was trying to say some things politically
in this, but also that's just what Superman comes into
and covers a lot, and you know, these things keep
happening over and over. Uh. Yeah, overall, I just think
this movie is super, super fun. I think the music
is great, although I really wanted them to hit us

(27:22):
with the full Superman brass like at the end kept
being like you keep. They had it innerspirst a Ton
which I actually did a lot theme, but I wanted it.
I wanted like the blaring, you know, like horns. You
just it was weird. They and that, which I loved.
But then I wish to your point, I wish they

(27:45):
would have either really given it to us or come
up with another theme that was for this movie with it. Yeah,
we can have a whole muse.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
I mean I would like to have a whole music
conversation honestly, like they did it in super They did
it in Superman Returns perfectly.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
They incorporated the.

Speaker 4 (28:04):
John Williams, but then they added the Duomdoom Doom Doom
Doom Doom, and.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
He was like, they did the John Williams, but they.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
Had their The movie also had its own theme. I
wish they would have done that. I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
I either get either really give.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
It to us or it was something new and they
didn't give us John Williams at all. In The zach Snight,
but that that also is literally my favorite part of
that movie is the original score they came up with the.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
I just like love it so much. It is funny
though for a James Gun movie, there wasn't as many
of like the needle drop moments that he's so good at.
They really went more score you have To, which I
didn't hate. I just yeah, I just was like, oh, okay,
well he had to you know, he's going for a sink, and.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
The stuff that they did use was at my favorite.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
I'm not a big great punk rock guy.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
So yeah, that was an interesting choice. But yeah, but
I but you know, in Guardians, the soundtrack was such
a part of Peter Quill's it was it was it
was identity, right, Yeah, a lot of sense because it was,
you know, his mom's mixtape, so I kind of figured

(29:26):
he wasn't going to do that just well.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
So but overall, I just think it's super duper fun
I really loved it, and we'll talk more about a
lot of things, but I just want to say my
hot take, I think is just classic white guy billionaire
feeling like he's being persecuted by the world, just like
Lex Luthor. It's just like it's just so hard. Everything

(29:50):
is so hard and sad for me. It's just like
a mod Lex. But I thought he was pretty great
as a villain. He was, yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (29:59):
Think that's my that's a hot take, bro. Yeah, I
just saw this just a few hours ago. Yes, we know.
It's written and directed by James Gunn. He's taken over
the DC universe. He of course made the Guardians movies,
like you said, and then there was the firing before

(30:20):
the third one scandal. Then everyone rallied it, rallied behind him,
got him rehired in the interim, DC chatted him up
and got him to make the Suicide Squad movie, and
then that led him to becoming the head of DC
and redoing Superman. So worked out pretty well for him.
I think he really pivoted nicely there. But yeah, dude,

(30:44):
I thought the actors he chose were great. He really
did a great job. And at first I was like, well,
you gotta do Cavil this way, but you know, he's
redoing this whole thing. He needs a new Superman. He
got a great one. This guy seems to be pretty great.
Clark Kent and Superman and I have such a hard

(31:05):
time not picturing missus masl as lois but Rachel Browsnan
is great.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
But man, that I thought she was wonderful. She's great now.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
But I loved Missus Masel so much. It's just it's
taking me a lot to get.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
That out of my brain. I saw her.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
I saw her on Broadway in a play called The
Sign in Sydney Brucene's Window, and I was like, this
is gonna be weird to see her do something else,
Like is she just gonna be Missus Mazel? And she
was a completely different character and I was kind of
blown away.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
I was like wow, and that was and it.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
Was literally, I think the week before they announced her
as Lois Nice and I and I remember when they
said that she was like in the running and I
was like, oh, she could be good at this. And
then I saw her in that play and I was like, oh, man,
she could really be good at this. Yeah, I feel
like she was. I feel like she was like right

(32:04):
on the money.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Yeah, agreed, And yeah, I thought Nicholas Holt was amazing
as well.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Like you said, so, really is sweat corn sweat corn?
Sweat took? That guy's good?

Speaker 3 (32:18):
I like, wonderful, wonderful yea really Yeah. I was impressed
with all the casting choices. I appreciated that we didn't
get a full origin story. Every one knows the origin story,
and we pick up a few months into Lois uh
And and Clark dating, so we don't deal with any
of the moments of her like figuring out who he is,

(32:42):
because we've we've read with all that before, which I
liked a lot. Now maybe people you know, coming in,
wish they had could start at square one, but I
personally really enjoyed it.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
It's kind of like Spider Man. They did.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
This lasted very much like my homecoming Civil War, the Homecoming. Yeah,
you know, we we know what happens. I mean, everyone
knows it.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
They set the stage and we're like three centuries ago,
you know, like meny humans were here. So it's like
not weird that Superman exists. It's really just about interacting,
you know more, And I just loved all that kind
of it's not handwavy, but it's also like, let's just
set the expectation. This is superheroes are here, They're doing

(33:27):
their thing. Don't worry about it, you know, Like I
love that. I didn't know how I was going to
feel when that first text came up. I was like, Oh,
what are we doing here? You know?

Speaker 4 (33:35):
I didn't Yeah, I was like I don't want well,
I just mean, I didn't want a full like Star
Wars scroll sure either, but then when they did the
three three, the threes, it was kind of like the
kind of like the Dunkirk move.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
You know, the.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
Dunkirk they do the ten whatever one day, ten hours
or I forget it, but they do the same thing
with increments.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
Of time the D day stats. Yeah, yeah, that's cool.
But yeah, I did like it. I have some thoughts
on the on the beginning, sorry I interrupted you, Oh no,
you're good.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
And yeah, I also like that he's like not the
only superhero and they're not just like who is this,
Like they're in a world where they exist, and I
feel like it was different from some other takes on Superman.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
I just enjoyed it.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
I also really enjoyed the run time. Two hours, nine minutes.
Pretty good, pretty pretty solid. We didn't need this to
be a three hour movie. It worked out well. My
hot take, the funniest part of the whole movie, James
Gunn pretty much completely stole from The Avengers, and it's

(34:46):
when Lex Luthor is about to start monologuing to Superman. Yeah,
and then Crypto comes in and beats the hell out
of him. It reminded me very much of the lokey
screaming Hulk. Yes, and then the Hull just beating the
hell out of them.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Yeah, that's great. I thought the same.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
It was like the exact same beat, but it worked
really well and it did make me laugh. So it's like,
I don't know if I can get mad at it,
but I can point out that I think he kind
of stole that.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
Yeah, think of it more of an homage than stealing.
But yes, I agree, and I'm I'm sure he would
admit to that, honestly, Like, yeah, probably, but hat take,
hot take? What do you got, Benny? What's your hat take?

Speaker 2 (35:33):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (35:33):
Man?

Speaker 4 (35:33):
You guys, I Superman has a is a very integral
part of my growing up life. It makes me, it
makes me really emotional, honestly, because it was such a
such a huge thing for.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
Me growing up. It was just my favorite thing. I mean,
I watched the the Christopher Reeves Ones a bajillion times.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
I just I loved everything Superman my whole life and
Man and stuff.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
Too, but Superman was always just my number one.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
So you know, every time one of these happens, you know,
six Superman returns, I was just you know, out of
my mind. And then in twenty twelve with the Man
of Steel, I was just every time it happens, I'm
the same way. And I you know, I tried to
go in with tempering my expectations, even though I fully

(36:26):
trust James Gunn and I and I you know, but
I but I knew it was going to be different
than than what we had seen before. I just, yeah,
I thought it was so full. It's just so much fun.
I mean, it's so much fun. You know, it is,
like you said, it is a comic book brought to life.

(36:49):
James Gunn is not concerned about we need to make
this realistic and fit into the real you know, the
real world. Yeah, I mean I just rewatched Man of
Steel and you know, I don't want to compare this
to other ones, but I mean Man of Steel is
has so much cool stuff, but it is zero fun.

Speaker 1 (37:09):
I mean zero fun fun at all.

Speaker 4 (37:12):
And you know, Superman can't be the same as Batman,
like they're supposed to be polar opposites. I mean, Superman
is the big blue boy scout. He's smiley and you know, helpful.
He's just a dude who grew up in the Midwest.
You know, and I just think he captured that perfectly.

(37:36):
It was so wonderful. And James Gunn is so good
at all that he doesn't at all. He's big on
like adopted families. I feel like that's a big theme
in his movies. He loves to have a creature of
some kind that you know, that can't talk, or like

(37:58):
the Shark or or now Crypto. He's really great a
world building, obviously, and this was just so fun and colorful.
I do agree. I do think it was a little
overstuffed in general, like just so much going on, which

(38:25):
and nothing that ruined it for me. I think the
heart and everything was there.

Speaker 1 (38:28):
It was fine.

Speaker 4 (38:28):
It's just just a lot happened in that two hours.
I mean it's like it's it's straight up like one
fifty eight I think before the credits.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
And I mean he even had a lot going on
in there.

Speaker 4 (38:43):
But but you know, he hit so many I mean
clearly there was he was alluding to a lot of
real life things.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
I mean there was.

Speaker 4 (38:52):
Obvious obvious parallels to for sure, Israel and Palestine, Russia.

Speaker 1 (38:58):
And Ukraine, with the too made of.

Speaker 4 (39:01):
Countries big on our relationship to social media and bots
and speaking of review you know, we were talking about review
bombing earlier. I mean, his monkeys and our relationship to
media also right now, and obviously immigration and illegal aliens,

(39:24):
I mean, which is obviously Superman theme. So I think
that was all, you know, maybe a little heavy handed,
but I don't know. I just think he did it
so it was campy and but on purpose. I just
think it was wonderful. And I don't really have a

(39:45):
hot take. I guess my hot take is I think
this is the this is the Superman movie we needed
right now. You know, like, we don't need a Man
of Steel right now. We have enough bleakness happening. We
don't need a muted palette, yeah, brooding, we need happy

(40:08):
go Lucky. Just all I care about is being a
good person leader Superman right now, and I think that
was the most important part of the movie.

Speaker 1 (40:20):
And it was just fun. It was just fun. I mean, yeah,
we needed Superman who saves a squirrel because that squirrel
was in trouble.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
I mean, like, and honestly, in the moment, I thought
that was kind of dumb, and afterwards I was like, no,
I like that. I like it because you know, in
the original Superman and Richard donnerd Superman. He has a
scene where he saved, he does all this crazy stuff
and he's then he gets a cat out of a
tree for a little girl, right because that Superman. He's like,

(40:55):
he's you know, there's no job too small. He doesn't care.
And I thought that was that was lovely. I just
thought it was. I thought it was really lovely, and honestly,
I I already want to watch it again. I want
to watch it again, and I have I have a
million nitpicks, obviously, but and I don't think it was
perfect by any means. But I also think it's one

(41:17):
of those movies that I'm gonna like more and more
as I keep watching it.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
For sure.

Speaker 4 (41:22):
You know, I felt like this when I watched The
Batman two years ago or whatever in the theater. I
was like, Oh, that was that was I was like,
that was a crazy take on Batman. And now I've
watched it like three or four more times since then,
and every time I'm like, I like this more every
time I watch it.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
That's cool. He didn't like it again, like it. I
thought it was bad ass. I thought there were parts
of it that were super cool, but yeah, I understand.

Speaker 4 (41:48):
I totally understand, but I I totally understand that, but
I will say watching it a few more times, I
like feel like I really get it. And I think
this movie also was so so bananas that it was
hard for me to you know, I was like, this
is so much to take in, but I really sure.
I really think on more watches, I'm gonna like it

(42:10):
more and more. And I think it was a wonderful start.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
To the DCU. Oh. I do think it's gonna be
so fun to as he fleshes out the universe to
go back to that is gonna be so great too.

Speaker 4 (42:25):
And I do think part of him, as far as
the overstuffedness was maybe he was like I have to
I have to jam this all in and like really
like kickstart this universe. Yeah, like I think he made
decisions more maybe about that than he would have maybe normally.

Speaker 1 (42:44):
I don't know. It just felt like it's like just
that I gotta get I gotta get this all in
to really like, you know, really jumpstart this.

Speaker 3 (42:54):
But yeah, I feel like that that creature, it was
like this is a any small distraction and then he
like ends up getting really big or whatever. That ye,
I kind of feel like they really only have that
bit to show off these other guys like the Green
Lantern and Hawk Girl and you know, to show that

(43:15):
there's other groups, but otherwise it would seem pretty yeah random.

Speaker 1 (43:19):
Also to show Superman but like the sanctity of life
is just exactly and yeah, that's a good point. It was,
it was, but yes, mostly to show these cuts, I
agree for sure. But you know, I think it was
important to show them because they're much more corporate, you know,
I mean literally, they are a corporation and paid. They're

(43:40):
like the boys kind of the Max the Max Lord Corporation,
and you know, And I think it was nice at
the end that they were inspired by him to jump
in showed to that to the conflict. But yeah, so yeah,
I don't know. I guess my my quote unquote hot

(44:02):
take is I think it's the Superman we need currently
and and the direction it should be going right now,
Jimmy Man and Jimmy Jimmy is borderline. I'm like, bro.

Speaker 4 (44:19):
Dude, And again, I like, I wish there's Everyone was
so good. I mean, everyone in the cast was wonderful
and part of the reason I'm a little bummed it
was overstuffed in my was just that I wanted everyone
to just have more time, including more Superman and more
Clark and Lois. Like I really, I really thought everyone

(44:41):
was wonderful. But also it makes me excited because I'm like,
I want more and we'll talk more about him, but
we're going to see it. Mister terrific man just border
borderline steal in the show out here. Yeah, I mean yes,
And that's so dude. I mean, he really was wonderful,

(45:06):
Like everyone was wonderful. I just wanted more of everyone,
more of his parents. Well, maybe we should talk about
this acting performances. Maybe we should name our.

Speaker 1 (45:16):
The dude. I'm the dude, So that's what you call me,
you know that, or his dudeus or duder or you
know eldudo reno. If you're not into the whole.

Speaker 3 (45:28):
Breather favorite acting, I mean, it's it's coren sweat.

Speaker 4 (45:35):
I mean that is some no pun intended, but those
are some big boots to fill. I mean literally literally
some big trunks to fill the potatoes. The potato goes
in front sir, Hello, Well, I really thought he was
was wonderful and Robi like Robbie earlier when you said,

(45:58):
you know you felt bad about caw I do too.
But Cavell could never have done this in my in
my actor opinion, Like I think Cavill is fine, right,
but like this dude is a really good actor.

Speaker 1 (46:15):
I think more, I.

Speaker 4 (46:16):
Mean a better I just Cavill was very and maybe
it was a product of just Zack Snyder not being great,
maybe the best director for character stuff and barely ever
having Clark do anything in those movies. But uh, he
was just so stiff and so he was Batman in

(46:37):
a Superman costume. This this was corn sweat. Just he's
so believably just exactly, He's just you can't not like him,
Like he just makes me smile. And I wish we
would have gotten more of his Clark. But his Clark
was was great too. You know, I could have used another,

(46:58):
definitely another Clark scene.

Speaker 1 (47:00):
I think him in.

Speaker 4 (47:05):
Brasenahan's chemistry was outstanding. There there there big.

Speaker 1 (47:10):
Scene was something we've haven't really gotten in a Superman
movie and a long time, you know, and when they
do it in the original movie, it's so much different.
He comes in with the swagger and then takes her on,
takes her on a flight and whatever, and and then
this one they really let Lois cook. I mean, she

(47:32):
kind of win wins that argument. And I don't know, he's.

Speaker 4 (47:37):
Just so good at at clearly being in the beginning
stages of being Superman and not knowing how to handle
everything that's happening. And yeah, I just he really was great,
very charming, looks great, Yeah, funny, I mean, but you

(47:57):
know what, but but I'm I really do like he's
not like Henry Cavill was like a Greek statue. Like
this dude is obviously big and strong, but he looks
like a normal dude. You know, he looks he looks
like a Western but he's not like Cavil, Like, I

(48:18):
don't you know what I mean, does that make sense?
He's not like perfect looking. I guess he's I don't know.
He's just a very believable Superman. And I thought he was.
I thought he was just really wonderful.

Speaker 1 (48:33):
Agreed it, agree with all that.

Speaker 3 (48:39):
They had him getting his ass kicked a lot a
lot wait for being Superman.

Speaker 1 (48:42):
He got straight bodied, like every time he got in
a fight. He really did.

Speaker 3 (48:47):
Man, I feel like we don't see that a lot
from Superman, which is this one.

Speaker 4 (48:53):
Well, I also think and I think we got hit
over the head pretty hard with it that the tough
thing about Superman is like we need him to be
vulnerable and we need him to feel human because he
is stronger and more powerful than everyone. He should never
lose a fight. But if you do that, it's never
going to be interesting, right, you know, It's kind of

(49:16):
like we need to see him fail. Otherwise, what what
are we doing? You know, if he can just he
can just crush everyone, and you know, maybe they went
and again, I think it was pretty heavy handed the
message throughout that he needs to be you know, he's
he is human, but but boy, he sure does get

(49:37):
handled quite a bit.

Speaker 1 (49:39):
Here did.

Speaker 3 (49:42):
Yeah, but I thought he did all that really well too.
And yeah, I was, I was really impressed with this guy.
I wasn't super familiar with him. And I saw him
in that like bit roll in Twisters, yep, all.

Speaker 1 (49:57):
Of his other stuff. I really haven't said he was.

Speaker 4 (49:59):
I saw him in like a fun like Netflix rom
com like a year or two ago.

Speaker 1 (50:04):
He was in some that Hollywood show. I never watched that,
but something either.

Speaker 3 (50:10):
Yeah, but it was I felt like they needed kind
of a relatively unknown guy again and he completely crushed.

Speaker 4 (50:19):
I think you always you always need that with Superman.
I mean they've they've literally always been that, right, you know,
even in the original. I think they wanted like Warren
Batty and Robert Redford and people, and then they are
finally were like, no, we need someone no one knows
you just you can't have you can't have any baggage

(50:40):
and be Superman. You need you need to you need
to be like a clean slate actor.

Speaker 1 (50:47):
Mm hmm yep. And I agree with you, guys. I
think he's obviously the dude. Uh. My favorite parts about
him were the like soft moments with him were really great.
When he knew he knew Mall his name right, Like
he was like, oh, he wasn't just a guy, he
was my friend, this guy you know, like even though
he only gave him flo offfe once or.

Speaker 3 (51:07):
Whatever, right, Like I'm gonna say, yeah, I felt like
we needed to know more about because I didn't really
care when that.

Speaker 1 (51:14):
I mean, it was a bummer that it happened.

Speaker 3 (51:17):
But like when he didn't know him in the head,
I was like, actually did it Yeah, well it was
so fast and he thought that was.

Speaker 1 (51:27):
Yeah, it's supposed to show us more about Lex I
think than Superman. But also Superman did know his name
and all, like I loved those moments or when he
felt bad that had to die, you know, all these things.

Speaker 4 (51:43):
Actually, one part that actually got me a little emotional
was when when he says to Lois, he's like he's
he's just a dog, Like he doesn't when he's like,
I'm gonna go out him and he's probably scared.

Speaker 1 (51:55):
He's probably scared.

Speaker 4 (51:56):
He doesn't even like this dog, you know, I mean
he and he's still just like that got me a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (52:03):
Yeah, he's probably scared. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (52:07):
But to your to your to your point, Robbie, I
think in one of my problems with it being overstuffed
is I do feel like we lost a little just
backstory for everyone. Not that we need a lot, but
like to your point, to that guy, just a little
something metamorpho.

Speaker 1 (52:28):
I feel like we're so quick. I just feel like
we we but maybe we'll get it later, you know. Yeah, sure,
uh love that. Well, there's a bunch of other people
in this movie, so so many people name them. Should
we go to the Tucci man, I don't even know
this is a lot I seriously, do not think there

(52:51):
was a bad casting choice in this movie. I mean,
I like everyone crushed. Yeah, yeah, everyone favorite is so wonderful. Yeah,
I mean we we talked to Rachel already. I mean,
I just want to talk about it.

Speaker 4 (53:11):
I just want I just want to talk about everyone, honestly.
More of a surprise though, Nicholas Holt really crushed.

Speaker 1 (53:17):
I mean he was great. It's not a surprise. That's
not a surprise.

Speaker 3 (53:21):
Every single thing I see him, and he is incredible
in everything, and.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
He picks really cool to work on too. It's everything
his team is. Man, I just listened to his SmartLess episode.
I'm going to check that out and they and they
even were like, you just pick such good stuff.

Speaker 4 (53:44):
I mean, which is a which is a hard I
mean I'm always blown away because you know, when you
get to that level, he's probably getting scripts thrown at
him left and right. I mean, you know, to to
really know when to when to do a big thing
and when to you know, it's impressive, he really is.
His IMTB is impressive. For I haven't even seen No

(54:08):
Spratu yet and I heard he's.

Speaker 1 (54:09):
A Yeah, I'm scared. Well that's because Robert Edgars is crazy.
He makes me feel gross. I mean it was good,
but I didn't like it.

Speaker 4 (54:22):
Yeah, but man, he really uh he really uh.

Speaker 1 (54:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (54:31):
He brought such a a fun I mean to your
point earlier views the the tech billionaire sure is an
easy villain to have right now, but he brought such a.

Speaker 1 (54:43):
Like BROI energy to it. Yeah. Uh yeah, he just
did such a good job and he really just his
his hatred for Superman was just seething and just like
that fault line of like into kearny and vulnerability underneath
his seething hatred is just so right there. But I

(55:05):
don't know, I loved it. I thought he was.

Speaker 4 (55:07):
But also he was so good at like with him too,
with his with his little like he has that little
his little smirk.

Speaker 1 (55:16):
And you just like kind of want to slap the
of you. But yeah, he was so fun, so fun.
I love that. Yeah, he was so good. So which
one I want to talk about everyone? So yeaheah, we'll
just rankle through. But I had him as well. Then
My next up was Rachel bros Nan. She's so good

(55:37):
and to Benny's.

Speaker 3 (55:38):
Point, like they really gave her a lot. She was
not just like the pretty face Lois Lane. Like, yeah,
I feel like James Gunn writes pretty pretty well for women,
did a really really good job with with Rachel Brosnan
in this and yeah, like I said, I kept picturing

(56:00):
a Mazal and I had to just get that out
of my head. But she was, she was fantastic.

Speaker 1 (56:04):
Yeah, I love that. Sorry I didn't write down his name,
Uh say his name Eddie probably seriously, I seriously think
he low key like stole the movie. He's honestly my
favorite action scene in the entire movie. Superman's not in it, dude, it's.

Speaker 4 (56:26):
Because it is Also that's the most James gun signature. Like, dude,
he drops the dome over her and then they hit
they hit the needle drop. It is exactly. It is totally.
Uh Yanda escaping in Guardians two with that little bit

(56:47):
closer and the arrow find a round and Guardians three
with the Beastie.

Speaker 1 (56:52):
Boys in the hallway, Yeah, like that is I've got
goosebumps right now, or even in the second one, like
we see the entire first battle through walla little little
little bit right, Yeah, Like that's totally I love it
and I think that's so effective to see it sort

(57:13):
of in the background but also not but you know,
we're getting the character's reaction to it. It's it's that's like,
that's James.

Speaker 4 (57:19):
Gunn like like seeing a Wes Anderson symmetrical theatrical set.
Like I'm just like, I know exactly whose movie this
is right now? Yeah, sure is the best fight scene
in the movie and Superman's not in it.

Speaker 3 (57:36):
Dude, Well, we're stepping on my ticket. That's for sure
my favorite scene in that whole movie.

Speaker 1 (57:41):
It's awesome. Yeah, it's awesome. He really was awesome. Also,
Nathan Fillion is wonderful in this movie, and he's always
been one of my ever does anything wrong, I will?
I love him so much. He's so funny in this

(58:02):
so good tone perfect. I read somewhere that in the
next I think it's the next season of Peacemaker, that characters,
I guess is the that's the story. Yeah, I just
wanted more of him, dude. When she's like and a
great green lantern, that.

Speaker 4 (58:20):
Hat should be whatever? Yeah, yeah, that what should be?
What yea so good? So stupid? Is such a such
a butthole? And when they attack in Bavaria or whatever,
and the big just green middle finger comes up.

Speaker 1 (58:40):
For one second. Yeah, god damn, he's funny. It's very
cool upgrade, you know, so great, Yeah, so great man.

Speaker 3 (58:52):
We mentioned him earlier, but Skyler Gazando as Jimmy Olsen
was pretty and so kind of flipped that character on
its head a.

Speaker 1 (59:01):
Little bit too much.

Speaker 4 (59:03):
Yeah, yeah, because that character is always just a little
a little just nerd, but kind of sounds like a
little wiener, right, He's always a little wiener.

Speaker 3 (59:14):
But you see those you see those two really attractive women,
like yeah, looking over at him, and then yeah, then
that really.

Speaker 1 (59:23):
Pretty What was her name? Eve? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (59:25):
Yeah, selfie mutant toes, she's uh, she's she's she's.

Speaker 1 (59:35):
Eve test Mocker.

Speaker 4 (59:37):
Right, she's the same she's the same character as as
is in the original.

Speaker 1 (59:43):
Oh really, I didn't know that.

Speaker 4 (59:45):
Okay, yeah, the one she's in Original Superman. She's like Lexus,
like kind of side piece girl friend miss and he's
called miss miss Text Miss test Mocker and and in
Superman in Superman Return, that's who Parker Posey is too.

Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
Yeah, Okay, that's fun. So it's fun.

Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
But yeah, and how crazy is it that Alan Tudic
just keeps getting these robots and he just keeps amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
All those robots were voices, which I didn't realize at
the time. Michael Rooker and his wife is one of them. Yeah,
and then uh uh clem yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
For whatever her name pm pm Clement.

Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
Yeah, yeah, I did it the wrong way, but yeah,
she was in it. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
But dude, Alan tud just always he gets in like
he usually gives like a boohoo in there too, being
speaking about these robots everything.

Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
How do you do that every time? It's really amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:00:50):
Is so awesome because yeah, what he's one of my
favor he's the droid and rogue one yeah one yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
T s what was his name?

Speaker 3 (01:00:59):
Yeah, he was the eye robot Robot. He's just he
does it a lot. One of my favorite character actors.
Wendell Pierce showed up Perry.

Speaker 1 (01:01:11):
White so much, so great. I love him. Could have
used more of him. He did not get much at all.

Speaker 3 (01:01:17):
Yeah, no, but I'm assuming he'll get some more stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:01:22):
I mean, look, I assume they all are. You know.
It's just there was a lot going on, a lot
going on.

Speaker 3 (01:01:28):
Beck Bennett didn't do much. He's very funny.

Speaker 1 (01:01:33):
What about.

Speaker 4 (01:01:35):
Metamorpho though, our boy from Barry dude from Barry I want.
I really wanted more of him. I mean, yeah, I
didn't realize it was him until.

Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
I already knew it was him going in. But okay, nice, nice.

Speaker 4 (01:01:50):
I thought I just thought he was going to play
a much bigger part I guess in the story.

Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
But he's on. He's a part of the gang now,
so he'll be around. Sounds like as we mentioned. So
she was really great. I liked her a lot. Sarah Sempio, Yeah,
she was really fun. She was super funny. Also, I
loved that they made her like the selfie stuff was

(01:02:17):
for a reason, Like I just loved all that stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:02:20):
Oh yeah, that was that was That was a smart,
little uh little side play.

Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
Yeah. And she's like, you know, crazy, but also so
is Jimmy, and you know all the things.

Speaker 4 (01:02:32):
It was Jimmy, Jimmy. That's really funny. Just he's just
it's kind of like ladies man, It's like, uh, what
am I thinking of? Oh it's like, what's the dude
the page dude in Game of Thrones?

Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
Oh yeah, just keep implying that he has just a
huge dong. Basically, Oh why can't I think of his
name right now? I can't all the time.

Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
Yeah, I was picturing more of like Will Ferrell and
the other guys where he's got this smoking wife AND's like, oh,
you know, I.

Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
Was also thinking of Will Ferrell and Blades of Glory too,
pad Padrick Payne.

Speaker 4 (01:03:16):
Padrick just just for no reason. She's just love him.

Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
So funny, just so funny, so great.

Speaker 3 (01:03:25):
It was fun seeing Isabella Mercete is hawk girl and
she's blowing up.

Speaker 1 (01:03:30):
She was great. She was great, and last she was wonderful.
I didn't see her as Dora the Explorer did. Yeah,
and once you see it in your mind's eye, you
can't get it.

Speaker 4 (01:03:47):
Like I wonder where she kind of came from. That's funny. Yeah,
she was wonderful too. I could have used some more
of her too, but she Everyone did their jobs very well.
It was great, honestly, didn't even talk about his parents
were really his parents so good.

Speaker 1 (01:04:08):
What's the guys, what's the actor's name?

Speaker 3 (01:04:11):
His name is Taylor Vance. Yeah, he's got the crazy
shimmy eyes very much, I don't think, thank God, but
he's so when he's a bad guy and I.

Speaker 1 (01:04:24):
Wish, I wish he would have gotten a little again. Again.

Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
Everyone I wish everyone had gotten a little more to do.
But you know, it's hard with the parents in Superman
if you're not doing the origin story because yeah, sure,
that's kind of where their big storyline is. I like
that they were they're doing.

Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
The version where they're both alive though, and he's not
getting killed Tornado for no stupid reason.

Speaker 3 (01:04:48):
That's the dumbest Tornado. That was a dumb one, super dumb. Yeah,
it's it's tough to go. It's tough to go from
Kevin cost I liked it though, because because they were
very like simple people, not dumb, but you know, like
they were just it's just like dan are both really attractive,

(01:05:12):
older people and very I don't know, they just seemed very.

Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
Believable as as where they were and where they were from.

Speaker 4 (01:05:21):
And you know, I like that again, I like that
the dad's they're still alive and he's still alive, and
because I know there's there's different versions in the comics
and he I wish it was a great Yeah, it's
just Kevin Costner in Man of Steel gets like three
just banger scenes, which honestly are probably the best part

(01:05:45):
of that movie, to be honest. But but Pruitz really
crushed his his And honestly, it makes me really emotional
the way Corn sweat like double like he puts his
arm around him, but he like kind of half hugs him.
I don't know, Yeah, really gets me. Jeez, it's really great.

(01:06:08):
How do we feel about the Kryptonian parents? That was
a that was a big swing their backstory, you mean
the Yeah, the fact that.

Speaker 1 (01:06:19):
They basically changed it to the what they said was
actually what they said, because I thought I thought it
was going to turn out that that wasn't real, right.

Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
Same, I felt like setting it up to have it
be like that was doctored in some way.

Speaker 1 (01:06:38):
I still think it could. It could be like they
were scared Zod was going to get the message, so
they put that in there intentionally, you know, like had
part of it it screwed up, so he only heard
the part they really wanted anymore. It was a mistranslation
or something. I feel like we still have that.

Speaker 3 (01:06:56):
It felt it felt really weird just to be like, well, no,
that's exactly.

Speaker 4 (01:07:03):
A language from another planet, and when you've deciphered it
in fifteen minutes, like they said it so definitively, it
felt like it was that's yeah, right, although I've been
thinking about it all day also, and I'm like I
can get behind it a little bit in that I

(01:07:26):
don't know his his dad. It's almost like they're combining
his dad and General Zod a little bit into a
Chara show where he's like, you know, not even that
it's so much out of malice, but like you need
to continue our heritage if you can, and you know
almost more. I don't know, I'm trying to like justify

(01:07:48):
my brain. It was just kind of a jarring decision.

Speaker 1 (01:07:52):
I think it does do a good job at making yes,
Superman more human because because it gives him something to
go against rather than like back up, you know, so
like it does make him part.

Speaker 4 (01:08:05):
Of this world, and you know the beginning where the
robots are like it calms him down, and then at
the end, like it calms him down. In its home videos,
which which was really amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:08:17):
It was a little cheesy both the way they filmed it,
but it was nice. Yeah, but they both had different
names at the end, which I think is cool too,
Like he went by Superman by the end, you know,
like and Gary was there and all that, right, So
like it felt very like this is now where we're

(01:08:37):
actually starting again. Oh all the things. The funny thing is,
like all the things, I was like, I don't know
if this works for me. In the movie, I still
was like, but it's all just based in love and
being being good, and I just it made me feel good.

Speaker 4 (01:08:53):
Yeah, you know, I think somewhere in me I wanted
maybe a little little more like epic Superman something. But
but also we've done that, and we've done the you know,
I don't I don't need the I don't need the
Christ references and the all that anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
I mean, we've done all that. That's stained glass. Just
watched it the other night and I was like, God,
I just beat us over the head. Bro my god,
I went we get it, Like, come up, I will say.

Speaker 4 (01:09:31):
They gave us the one shot where he catches the
building and lets her go on the car and she
looks back and he just r that's pretty That is
pretty used. Like one more of those maybe.

Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
But sure sure, yeah. Uh it feels like we should
talk about some scenes where we think, should we go
on and name the dinger Dings is quite simple, really, Dingus, Dingus.
I can talk about my Dingus all night long. Just
your favorite scene rob you already.

Speaker 3 (01:10:05):
I mean I did say, yeah, I love pretty mister
terrific scene when he he takes out everyone at the
camp where the portal is. He puts Lois in the
forest field and just proceeds to kick ass.

Speaker 1 (01:10:20):
I wish I can't remember what song drops right there. Yeah,
I didn't know the song.

Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
I wish you would have been either, but that one
that was probably my favorite of the songs chosen, though
at least it was the most effective.

Speaker 1 (01:10:33):
I felt like.

Speaker 4 (01:10:36):
I didn't really I know, we I know, want to
jump and we are talking about the punk rock thing
was a little weird to me.

Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
Yeah, that's interesting. I didn't connect with it a ton. However,
I do know that James Gunn was super in the
punk rock and.

Speaker 4 (01:10:53):
Which again I think everything I'm just like, I also
think this is just James Gunn just did everything he
just really wanted to do with his whole heart and
get behind that.

Speaker 1 (01:11:04):
He made very specific choices and I'm okay with you,
yeah totally.

Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
But as far as soundtracks, I'd much rather have that
Guardian's for sure, because.

Speaker 1 (01:11:15):
That thing I did hear they have on Spotify. I
think they have, uh, playlists for each character and stuff,
which is kind of He made a playlist for every character.
That's kind of cool. Is funny to listen to. I
haven't done it.

Speaker 3 (01:11:30):
Yeah, he's clearly a big music Yeah, it was pretty cool.

Speaker 4 (01:11:36):
But I wanted I wanted mister Terrific song to just
be on just a sick like funk tune. Maybe it
would have been a little better, but it worked and
I always loved it.

Speaker 1 (01:11:47):
I was just like, yes, I want more of this. Yeah.
It was.

Speaker 3 (01:11:50):
And after he kicks everybody's ass and she's like, you know,
I guess you decided to help. He's like, only because
it'll piss off Green.

Speaker 1 (01:11:57):
Yeah, which is so great. Yeah, he was awesome. You
get more of that. God, he was great. That's a great.

Speaker 4 (01:12:03):
I hope every I want every black child ever this
October to just be mister Terrific for all we.

Speaker 1 (01:12:13):
Like. My God, it's just the best. He's the best.
If you had really little kids, they could almost be
like in the you know, and then series going around him.
It'd be so good. Nice. That's really fun. Benny, you
want to go next, or you want me to go?

Speaker 4 (01:12:33):
I guess I'll go. I don't even know this is
so hard. Yeah, honestly, you don't seen. I really I
really liked. I really liked when when he busts into
Luther's office, Yes, and he's just and he's like losing it,
because I think that was a really great Superman moment

(01:12:54):
that we've never really seen before, you know, like in
the in the original movie they do that scene. Also
Christopher Reeves busts in the door and gene Hackman's there,
and he like busts the door down and he steps
in and gene Hagman's like it's open.

Speaker 1 (01:13:14):
Come in, yeah, And then after he and.

Speaker 4 (01:13:18):
Then he walks up and Gene Hagmand's like, my lawyer
will be in touch about the damage to the door.
But like you know, Christopher Reeves plays it really like
stoic and he's really and obviously korn Sweat has the
I just it's fun to see him come in because
again he's he's he's hot, and he's new at this
and he he doesn't really have full control yet, and

(01:13:41):
he's and you.

Speaker 1 (01:13:42):
Know, he's going like John Wick.

Speaker 4 (01:13:44):
On him because you know about this dog and and
I think it's awesome to see him losing it. And
Nicholas Holt plays it so cool. Yeah, and he's like
with him and and Nicholas Holt kind of kind of
wins is the scene a little bit. I just think
I just think it's a cool scene that he looks

(01:14:07):
he looks badass as Superman, but also he's out of control,
which is not what he should be doing.

Speaker 1 (01:14:13):
And and it's such a good example of both their characters.
He's still naive, like you're saying, but also is like,
whether it's naive or not, is also just led by
this sort of his ethos of like, we don't do that,
like it's just a dog, dog, what the hell like

(01:14:34):
attack me, take out my stuff all that and do
whatever you want to me. That's fine, doesn't he say this?
Doesn't say at the end, and he's just like he's
just a dog or something like, Yes, he's so concerned. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:14:47):
I just I think it's such a good I think
it's so wonderful for both of their characters.

Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
Yeah, that's a great thing. I like that one a lot.
I would pick a I really think I would pick
the Mister Terrific fight scene for an action scene one
hundred percent. I loved it. But which is funny the
like I will say in this movie, just as a
quick aside, the like river, the plasma river and all that,

(01:15:16):
I don't care about that they could have got rid
of that and give us more backstory for me. I didn't.
I just thought that was kind of sill.

Speaker 4 (01:15:24):
Remind me to give you my quick take on all
that after you're done here.

Speaker 1 (01:15:28):
Okay. But my favorite scene for for ones that are like,
uh more relaxed, not like an action scene. I loved
the heart to heart with Clark and Lois as the big,
colorful like amiba fight is happening in the background, so

(01:15:48):
cool for so many reasons. Number one, I freaking loved
the line that she says where she's like, I didn't
believe that was true of you, Clark for even a second,
like when and he was like, I didn't know, And
She's just like, I want you to know, not even
for a half a second did I think that was
true that you did you know? Like you were lying

(01:16:09):
to me or that wasn't your character. I just thought
that was so like fulfilling for her character and him
to hear that and everything. But also just the view
of that, like the like rainbow blood coming out of
this you know, jellyfish in the background, seeing that he
doesn't care about stopping the bad guys. He only wants
to like stop people from getting hurt, you know things.

Speaker 4 (01:16:33):
And this was the fact that again that's kind of
like the opening of Guardians Too with Groot and the
like the fact that the fact that so much crazy
apparently happens in Metropolis that he's it's fine, they'll handle like,
we don't even we don't even explain what that is
or where that's from Tuesday or whatever. Like I love

(01:16:57):
that they don't even explain at it son. And and
that's where he says the dog stuff too, isn't it
where he's like, I got to go, Yeah, that's.

Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
Her.

Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
He loves her too, right, Yeah, should should have told
you a long time ago.

Speaker 1 (01:17:12):
I just loved that scene.

Speaker 4 (01:17:13):
I thought I think we would be remiss also not
to talk about the interviews scene.

Speaker 1 (01:17:19):
Yeah, that scene that is like that is we've never.

Speaker 4 (01:17:25):
Seen that in a in a Superman movie ever, because
she like she kind of owns him in that scene,
and she and talk about like media stuff and journalistic
integrity and and him being too green to understand you know,

(01:17:45):
the ramifications of what he's doing and she's and he's like, well,
you know me. You wouldn't ask these questions if you
didn't know me. She's like, no, I.

Speaker 1 (01:17:54):
Would, I absolutely absolutely would, like it's what I do
you are And when she's like, I agree with you.
I'm almost certain that is the truth. But I don't
know that's the truth. You know, Like we can't which
you know, on this stuff. You can't go just by
what we believe. You know, we have to prove.

Speaker 4 (01:18:13):
I have to have an objective opinion of all this
and and everything I'm saying is true. You did this,
You went into this this conflict and decided to interfere.
You know what I mean, It's real.

Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
It's I also, I love you can see why they
like each other because they can have those kinds of
like battler rep oartad you know what I mean. I
don't know. It's really great. I love that scene. That
was a great scene.

Speaker 4 (01:18:45):
I was gonna say, if I had a big overall
about this movie again, I it was so much fun.

Speaker 1 (01:18:56):
I do think.

Speaker 4 (01:18:57):
I do think somewhere in this there's a simpler version
of this movie where where we open with the war.

Speaker 1 (01:19:10):
About to start and we see him stop.

Speaker 4 (01:19:13):
It and then and that is sort of the main
conflict of the movie. And we can still have you know,
the the Luther's henchmen and stuff, but.

Speaker 1 (01:19:27):
Like the the what is it called, the uh, the side.

Speaker 4 (01:19:34):
Universe, the Pocket universe, if we if that went away
and we just had Luther had some sweet kryptonite cage
that he kept him in, you know. I just the
only part, I think, one of the only parts that
really lost me was that whole Pocket Universe section. Like

(01:19:55):
it was fun, it was fun to have Metamorphoe come
in there. And it's just that the river thing was
a little crazy for me.

Speaker 1 (01:20:05):
Yeah, I didn't I didn't like it, but I guess
he needed the I know, the I know, the black
hole becomes a thing.

Speaker 4 (01:20:10):
It's just to me, the the the conflict could have
been kind of the conflict between the two countries could
have kind of been the main thing. Sure, and then
we could have just also added the ultraman stuff too.
I just feel like we had a lot of again

(01:20:30):
I'm just I'm nitpicking, and but that was just that
was the only part. That river thing was the only
part where I was like, we've gotten a little a
little video gamey looking, and and also like Luther is.

Speaker 1 (01:20:46):
Such a good villain. He did such a good job
that I'm like, I don't need all these other There
was so all these other things, like his uh, his
whole little army of dudes. I don't know. It was
just a lot. But again, and we haven't even talked
about it.

Speaker 3 (01:21:05):
He had a clone and that too, and that was
like all that.

Speaker 1 (01:21:09):
It's basically bizarre, like bizarre.

Speaker 4 (01:21:12):
The seeds are seeds, but they are two different things,
I think from the comics. Yeah, even that, I was like,
is this a big enough deal or too big?

Speaker 1 (01:21:24):
Like did they make a big enough deal of this?

Speaker 4 (01:21:26):
It was almost like there was so much crazy going
on that you were like, oh, yeah, it's Sam.

Speaker 1 (01:21:31):
Okay, we it's a clone.

Speaker 4 (01:21:33):
Like I don't know, you know, things, things lose important
when there's so much happening.

Speaker 1 (01:21:39):
Yeah, I guess it's hard to know the scale then, right,
And then you're like, look, I think he could come
back as full Maybe that's a theater, right, like it
could come back from that side universe or wherever black
And it's like when you okay, he can make a
pocket universe. Okay, well I guess he can do literally anything.
Then like It's just like at that point, I was like, Okay,

(01:22:01):
a clone's not even a big deal anymore. It's like, oh, yeah,
he created a hockey universe. Whatever that is, okay. I
was so happy they had a good answer, though, because
I was like, how the hell did they just happen
to get in the Fortress of Solitude. I knew, I
knew backstory of the comics that that's what was going on.

(01:22:21):
Can I say my favorite little comedy part scene in
this was when Nicholas Holt pushes the coffee cut off
the thing and then they're like to pick it up,
and then he pushes it again. Another thing. This guy's
an app it like, it's so funny.

Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
I will say, I will say to it, I do
like I like James Gunn's humor, and I like, I've
always loved like we get crazy and then we cut
the legs out of stuff. There were definitely a few
times where I'm like, yeah, totally, I don't need it
all the time. You know, he did it so and
look again, totally his style and all good. There was

(01:23:06):
just a few towards the end where I was like,
we don't we don't need to have a joke every moment. Honestly,
it was really was the mister terrific to him and
him being like screwing around, I'm doing important stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:23:20):
Yeah, like which the Deliverer. Everything was great.

Speaker 4 (01:23:23):
I just at that point, I'm like, I feel like
we just need to be like a little more high
stakes in this moment.

Speaker 1 (01:23:29):
Yeah, there's still a lot of stuff happening, right, Yeah,
just like we don't always want to cut the legs
out of stuff, but other scenes that we feel like
we have to mention.

Speaker 3 (01:23:39):
We didn't really talk about the the one henchman woman
taking over the engineers pretty badass, Like, yeah, that was cool.

Speaker 1 (01:23:49):
She was cool. It was cool in general, and that
was we didn't know a ton of things.

Speaker 4 (01:23:56):
It was like, I mean, yeah, she was cool beingeer.
But he called her he called her Angel or.

Speaker 1 (01:24:05):
Something because she was like a special ops person or
something before that.

Speaker 4 (01:24:09):
Yeah, but then she I don't remember did they say
how she got her powers?

Speaker 1 (01:24:14):
He filled her with nanobots or something like something like that,
and then she can build anything she can think of
or something.

Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
Yeah, she lost her humanity over that, Yeah she really did.

Speaker 1 (01:24:31):
Yeah, she was cool. That was good. I like that
scene a lot, Like and all the robots and lex
just like calmly walking. That was ye, yes, that was
super Yes.

Speaker 4 (01:24:43):
But again even that scene, I I wish we would
have gotten one more scene in the fortress with the robots, yes, right,
just to have a little bigger of an impact.

Speaker 1 (01:24:56):
Things just happened so fast they really it was through
the movie, hey, step for sure.

Speaker 3 (01:25:01):
And I did really enjoy the the clone reveal and
the fight and then you know, Crypto taking out all
the all the cameras. So then, but we haven't talked
enough Crypto.

Speaker 1 (01:25:12):
Crypto was so Crypto much a much bigger role than
I thought, and I really liked him and led to
a great reveal of Supergirl, which yeah, that guy from
what is she from the House the Dragon? Yeah, that's right.
Uh And she was great and that I'm excited. I
think she's going to be a super fun Supergirl if

(01:25:34):
that's how they're gonna If that's how they're going to
do it, I do think it's gonna be. Yeah, when
like the opposite of Superman, like yo, I was, I
was like a teenager on Krypton. Yeah, I don't give
these humans are dumb. That was really fun. This dog
is an idiot, really fun.

Speaker 4 (01:25:52):
Yeah, she just and he's he's just like, I see
this way, I shouldn't take care of the dog.

Speaker 1 (01:25:59):
He's such a buz. Who also, can we talk about
the first words out of his mouth when he gets
to the fortresses? Golly golly he says, He says like, golly. Yeah,
I was like, that's what Superman is.

Speaker 4 (01:26:13):
Such a he's such a bottle. Well, yeah, I don't
know what's there other guy? I mean that's I feel
like we talked about most of the movie right there.

Speaker 1 (01:26:25):
Yes, well we can move on to let's talk about
our favorite quote. It's time to show me the money.
Show me the money, show me. These are hard, this
is all you. I didn't. I do have quite a few.
I was able to the second time remember some. So

(01:26:46):
I was able to write down a few that I liked.

Speaker 3 (01:26:50):
You had said one Nathan Fillion, and who's like Superman
couldn't make it, so you got enough.

Speaker 1 (01:26:55):
That's funny. I loved you When Metamorpho, he's like, Justice Gang,
that's a cool name, and then immediately like you that
the Justice Gang bit is pretty funny. That's this gang
is so stupid and great. God, I love.

Speaker 3 (01:27:12):
That When Superman and four talking and Superman's like, four
is a name, and then for its like, so it
is Gary.

Speaker 1 (01:27:22):
I love that. I love that so much. And then
he becomes scary and then he just calls him Gary.
All right, you're Gary? Yeah, bro, that's pretty funny and
all too.

Speaker 3 (01:27:32):
They got another line he's like, and we could not
care in our heart at hearts whether he lives or dies.

Speaker 1 (01:27:39):
Talking about the he says something. He says something to
Superman too, like when they first get him, they're like,
we don't have any consciousness, so we we don't really
care or something like that, right, we have no emotions? Yeah? Yeah,
But I felt like.

Speaker 3 (01:27:57):
The one line I was like, oh, that's that's pretty
cool kind of of was the Lois lane like you
think everything and everyone is beautiful. He's like maybe that's
the real punk rock.

Speaker 1 (01:28:10):
Yeah, that's funny, freaking nerd, right, But yeah, that was
a great line. You know. I like to throw some up.

Speaker 4 (01:28:18):
I liked what he said at the end of the
movie to Luther, even though I didn't it was a
super It was a super cheesy hitting us way too
hard over the headline. But his his like line about
being human human, right.

Speaker 1 (01:28:32):
I think I got most of it. It's like the
most it's like, it's pretty great.

Speaker 4 (01:28:37):
It's a great it's a great line to read. I
don't think it was great to say. But but again,
one thing about this movie is I feel like that
is directly out of the page of a comic. And
that's why why the movie's fun, Because I think it's
like unabashedly corny and campy. Yeah, and I think that's

(01:29:00):
on purpose. And that's and and and it kind of
makes everything okay to me, like we're not we're not.
We're not Christopher Nolan over here trying to make everything
you know, rooted in real life.

Speaker 1 (01:29:13):
We can.

Speaker 4 (01:29:14):
It was even him and Corn Sweat talking about the
costume and the and the the.

Speaker 1 (01:29:20):
Shorts and there, you know, they're like, look, this is a.

Speaker 4 (01:29:24):
Crazy this is an insane thing that's happening. I mean,
it should hardly be weird that a dude's wearing this outfit.
I mean, that's that's the least weird thing that's going
on here.

Speaker 1 (01:29:36):
Right. Of course, I don't remember what that exact line is.
I have to look it up, But are you talking
about the Superman one or the Lex Luthor line? The
Superman line at the end. Yeah, he says something like,
I'm as human as anyone. I love, I get scared,
I screw up all the time, but that is being human,
and that's my greatest strength. And I hope for the

(01:29:58):
sake of the world someday that you see that too, or.

Speaker 4 (01:30:00):
Something, which is the whole point of that whole point
of the movie and the character which but.

Speaker 1 (01:30:06):
I hear you it is. It's cheesy but still a superman.
You know, he's like freaking Kirk Cousins if he could fly, Like, yeah, right,
I'm just gonna say the most obvious silly thing right now.
But I also and maybe that's the real ooh, that's
the real punk rock baby. I also love Lex's response,

(01:30:27):
or Lex's before that, when he's like, you're driven by envy, Luthor,
and he's like, yeah, no, I'm aware. Envy consumes my
every waking moment. I know, when they mentioned Galileo or
Einstein or one of these other twits in the same
breath as me, I feel a tied to vomb a
burn in the back of my throat. But at least
Galileo did something he wasn't some dopey Venusian catapulted onto

(01:30:49):
this planet just to have the world fawn over him,
because his strength illuminates how weak we all really are.
So my envy is a calling. It is the sole
hope for humanity because it is what has driven me
to annihilating you. And I was like, you know that's
what that's what I'm Yeah, Like I love that He's like,

(01:31:10):
we are weak because you are strong, and that's why
I had to destroy you, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:31:16):
But also that's so great because that's always what makes
a sweet villain is like I believe in what I'm doing.
You know, I'm not just I'm not just evil for
evil's sake, Like I I have a raison and I
believe what I'm doing is the right thing. I love that,

(01:31:38):
Like that's always the best bad thing.

Speaker 1 (01:31:41):
I love it. Uh. Super Girl says thanks for watching him, bitch,
which I think is pretty fun.

Speaker 4 (01:31:50):
Also, I love that. I love that they dropped a
lot of just in this. They weren't afraid to just have,
you know, a little bad language, which I think is great. Yeah,
she does just throw out a bitch, So great again,
if that's how her movie is gonna.

Speaker 1 (01:32:07):
Be, I'm thrilled. Yeah, let's go. That's awesome. I love
when he's talking about the bands. He's like, Hey, I
liked the Strange Fellows p O D. And the Mighty
Crab Boys or whatever is the Mighty Cray Are those
real bands? Think so?

Speaker 3 (01:32:23):
But I don't think they made they made up the.

Speaker 4 (01:32:26):
Mighty I assumed the last I just assumed that last
song was like one of those.

Speaker 1 (01:32:31):
Well PD is a right, so he definitely says Po D.

Speaker 3 (01:32:36):
Yeah, but that Mighty Crab Boys they do that song
at the end and it says that the song was
written by James Gunn.

Speaker 1 (01:32:44):
Oh funny, So that's probably I didn't notice that. That's
really funny. And he had that poster in his room. Yeah,
the poster. That's why. That's when I was like, is
this real? Yeah, that's when he's like, Luther, your obsession
with me is getting a little creepy. Don't worry, Tall

(01:33:04):
dark In Martian isn't my type. Kryptonian, same thing. I
just thought that was a nice little like there. So
the mutant toes thing is just so stupid and great.
That was funny. Yeah, you have unconventional toes. Who cares.

(01:33:27):
There's other parts of you that other people would probably
find very attractive, which is so funny because she's just
just smoking and loves him and super This is what
I was thinking of. It's like Jason Alexander in Shallow House. Yeah,
a little bit like I don't think so literally is

(01:33:49):
with the smoking hot chicken. It's her toes. She had
web toes. That is what it is. I thought it
was her second one was longer and longer than the
first on.

Speaker 4 (01:34:00):
Your which mind, which mine is, which is a very
normal thing. And I was like, well right, that's what
I was thinking of. Yeah, it calls her a freak
and stuff that.

Speaker 1 (01:34:09):
I'm sorry, dare you? How dam?

Speaker 3 (01:34:15):
I did love the scene where and it's it's dumb,
it's just funny.

Speaker 1 (01:34:20):
But the really slow garage door opening, She's like, so.

Speaker 3 (01:34:24):
Great, have a flying saucer, but you couldn't get a
faster garage.

Speaker 1 (01:34:28):
I couldn't. I couldn't. I couldn't tell if it was
if it was, I'm sure they tried it both way.

Speaker 4 (01:34:33):
I couldn't tell if it was funnier to comment on
it or not comment on it, because I was like,
I think it'll be funny either way. But it's like
if they don't say anything, that's funny. Also, I think
everything mister terrific says is super cool?

Speaker 1 (01:34:51):
Agree and what man? I I don't remember what exactly
the dad says, but I have that to what's his line?
Your choices, your choices, Clark, your actions, that's what makes
you who you are. I'll tell you something, I couldn't
be more proud of you. And then I think earlier
he's like, i'd say what you wanted that message to

(01:35:13):
mean says a whole lot more about you than what
they intended it. See.

Speaker 3 (01:35:19):
He also says the parents don't get to choose who
their children are. We give them the tools to become
who they want.

Speaker 1 (01:35:26):
Really great, I don't think he says, we give you
the tools so you can make fools of yourselves all
in your own or something too in there, which is
you know, it just felt very midwestern like, but I
do too serious. But I do think it was a
nice I do think it was a nice way to
because you know, all the dads in the previous movies

(01:35:47):
have had some great lines. Obviously Costner had some really
great ones, like you got to decide what kind of
man you want to be.

Speaker 4 (01:35:53):
But I think the word choices is really powerful word.
Your choice is in your actions specifically, is such a
great way to say that. You know, not not because
costners like you have to decide what kind of man
you want to be and whatever and blah blah blah,
but your choices and your actions. That's I just think

(01:36:16):
that's a great way to write that.

Speaker 1 (01:36:18):
Yeah, that's wonderful. Also loved when they're talking about the vow.
I think they're in the Hall of Justice or something
at this point when he's like, Oh, that's part of
the vow, and then I think it's hot girls, Like
every time there's something he doesn't want to do, he
says it's against his valve, like the Lantern's vow. Yeah, yeah,

(01:36:40):
so great. I love that so much. Yeah, Nathan Fillian, man,
it's so funny. God, he's so good. I think those
were all the ones I wrote down. Yeah, it's good.
Oh dude, you have a secret harem. I did like
the Hall. I'll tell you what.

Speaker 4 (01:36:59):
Never in a many years when I think the word
harem would be thrown out in this movie, like a
twenty times.

Speaker 1 (01:37:05):
So many times I didn't even understand it. First. I
was like, what the what are they talking about?

Speaker 4 (01:37:11):
And then I was like, oh, like so he can
reproduce kryptonia.

Speaker 1 (01:37:16):
Ye, he needs to propagate the earth. You know. Yeah,
that's so weird, I said.

Speaker 4 (01:37:23):
I know, we already talked about that choice, but that's
pretty interesting, interesting thing to a bull. Move cotton, see
if it pays off for him, and tell you what, Well,
let's keep moving. Let's do the crying game only nugs
boohoo moments.

Speaker 1 (01:37:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:37:43):
I wrote down four, but Benny brought up another one,
so maybe five, but these are the four I came
up with. When four dies and says not protect Superman,
I'm sorry friend.

Speaker 1 (01:37:58):
Yeah, made me think of Alfa. I failed you, I
failed you.

Speaker 4 (01:38:02):
Michael Kane just blubber blubbering all through rises so great.

Speaker 3 (01:38:08):
Oka when Lex Luthor kills his buddy, was it, Molly Molly?

Speaker 1 (01:38:16):
Yeah? That scene?

Speaker 3 (01:38:19):
Yeah, when Pa says he couldn't be more proud of.

Speaker 1 (01:38:23):
Him, Yeah, I got me good.

Speaker 3 (01:38:26):
And when he says he wants to watch his parents
and it's not it's not his old human parents from cave.

Speaker 1 (01:38:35):
That I think The other one is is what he
was like, it's just a dog. I gotta, I gotta.

Speaker 4 (01:38:43):
That scene really hit me. I don't know why, because
again I was like, he doesn't even like this dog.
He's just like, he's just a dog.

Speaker 1 (01:38:52):
He didn't Yeah, he's probably scared, totally right, because he
says he's out there, he's probably scared. And then he's like,
I love you, and he says I love you. Yeah,
that was just so great? Is that all? I probably
should have said it a long time ago. I do
I have more, many more? I have five more. I

(01:39:14):
saw it twice. I did see it twice. Metamor Metamorpho
with his son? Is that what the baby? No, no one?
When when oh it's only four more? When when the
list helps him get up? No, that didn't get me.

(01:39:40):
It is why don't I just tell you the name
of the movie? I want to see? Uh just everything
at his parents house, like when he goes there to
just be cared for. I just loved that whole thing, basically,
especially dad stuff now just kills me. You know obviously, well, no, bro,
it kills me. I can't even imagine you think, jeez,

(01:40:01):
when he sees uh oh no, this is see this
is the problem with doing it on two separate things.
I had the end of it again, the kid putting
up the Superman flag. I know that is like a
kind of a cheesy moment. But I did love that.
I thought it was great. I loved it too. That
kid holding the pole and saying Superman the trailer made

(01:40:24):
me love it so much. And then the Justice Gang
showing up at that battle, I thought was wonderful, little
hype TIERI action, but it was funny. Okay. I was
gonna say, yeah, but it's but I understand what you're saying,
because you know, it's nice when hot girl sees it
on the TV. Yes, she sees the flag and she's
like because you know, they're like, they're not like World Protectors.

(01:40:49):
They're straight up, they're just like mercenaries more or less
Lord Corporation. And I think it's like kind of Metropolis specific.
You know, they're not like him where they're just like,
you know, they're just lounging around like yeah, so yeah,
I mean, I'm with you when they show up. It
is kind of like a kind that found family stuff.

(01:41:11):
Like we said to wait is one when he when
he catches the building and then the car drives away
and he rises up from the dust. I thought that
would get me. Honestly, that could be a hype teer. Yeah,
those were all of them. I've said all of them now. Sorry,
I had it. I had some that work doubled up
because I saw it multiple times and didn't. I like.
I like this term hype tears because a lot of I.

Speaker 4 (01:41:33):
Get this a lot in movies, just when I think, like,
just like the movie making are awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:41:41):
Yeah, absolutely, absolutely yeah. So I think seven seven six
I said it. I said it in the True Lies
Pod eight True Lies. I said it.

Speaker 4 (01:41:54):
I always cry hanging out of the helicopter just because
I was so sick.

Speaker 1 (01:42:01):
This is his This is as cool as movies get.
I love that. I love it. I love it.

Speaker 5 (01:42:07):
So just a just a hot eight hot eight, hot eight,
hot eight, double what I thought, double Gary, Okay, let's
do some movie trivia here because he was four guys.

Speaker 1 (01:42:18):
James Gunn tweeted that the death of his father was
an influence on the screenplay, which I knew before, but
I didn't realize the film's release date was his father's birthday.
So that's so sweet. I'll make you want to die
there or did it just happy? I don't know. It
didn't stay here. I assume it was like he had
they were throwing dates around. He was like, well, it

(01:42:39):
actually would be kind of perfect maybe, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:42:41):
The eleventh was it was a Friday, so yeah, that's weird, Yeah,
but pretty wild.

Speaker 1 (01:42:47):
I thought that was that was nice. We Will Reeves
makes a cameo in the movie uh oh yeah, The
Sun of course, and it was first reported in July
of twenty twenty four by the Cleveland's local newspaper. Yeah,
I think that's it. He's just the youngest son of

(01:43:08):
Christopher Reeve and he was only three years old when
his when his dad got in the accident that left
him paralyzed and stuff. So I bet that was fun
for him to get to be a part of it,
you know, this lineage that's kind of neat, like that's cool,
and he does he was a correspondent on a TV
news thing and that's what he does in real life.
So I just thought that was kind of a cool,

(01:43:28):
like an easy way to get him in there, which
is fun. Right. This is the seventh time Nathan Fillion
has been a part of the film directed by James Gunn,
So I thought that was neat. And they're like very
neat real life friends, I guess, and have been for
a long time. Yeah. The seventh it doesn't. Sometimes they

(01:43:50):
list them. This one didn't, unfortunately, but Corn Sweat learned
that he'd landed the role while filming Twisters, So I
bet that was a good day on set for him,
A great down set. Enjoy this piece of cake. It's
the last one you're ever allowed to have. U. Yeah,

(01:44:11):
have to start lifting.

Speaker 4 (01:44:12):
I don't know, man, I think I think actually it
probably was like, well, no, now, you need to eat
like six sies.

Speaker 1 (01:44:18):
A day somewhere. Gained forty pounds of muscle for this, yeah, yeah, yeah,
so yeah, he had to bulk up for sure. Oh
it's actually right here. Uh so, yeah, he gained forty
pounds of muscle prior to filming. He's six', four but
they wanted him to be, heavier so we went up

(01:44:40):
to two hundred and forty. Pounds superman is supposed to
be Six, yeah so maybe he got down to twenty
five you know. AFTER i don't. Know that's huge, though that's. Crazy.
Uh this is the First superman film Since superman returns
to Utilize John williams main theme From, superman And James

(01:45:03):
gun sighted the theme as one of the greatest film
scores of all, time WHICH i think is just basically
an unassailable take at this, Point like it's just. Right you,
know the fact the fact That John williams in like
a four year span Did, Superman Star wars And indiana

(01:45:23):
joaniculous and And John, yeah from like seventy eight to
like eighty two he Did, Superman, Jaws Indiana Jones e T,
yeah that's. Unbelievable, also you want to talk hype. TEARS
i went and saw The Minnesota orchestra Dud John williams

(01:45:44):
two and when they Played, SUPERMAN i LIKE i lost.
IT i was just, like this is the best thing
of all. Time it was. Incredible it was so. Fun
but to our earlier, CONVERSATION i do wish they would
we could have we could have done a little little
more with the The, scorrier even like the credits would

(01:46:04):
have been great for, me you, know just for. IT
i don't, know BUT i get, it and who. Knows
there's probably good. WAY i think it's the crab we need.
Debut there's a bunch of people listed that were associated
with the character and the franchise that were on the
locale maps that were within the news, Station so that was.

(01:46:26):
Cool it's Like George Reeve Chris reeve a bunch of other,
people which is. Fun So crypto's presence in the film
was first really revealed In october of twenty four By
gun via social media to Commemorate adopt A Shelter Dog
month and for his first live action appearance in the.
Film crypto was based On gun's own rescue, Dog, ozu

(01:46:49):
whose likeness was used as inspiration and the basis for
the THREE d. Model SO i just thought that was
kind of. Fun and he's Apparently crypto is traditionally a
White labrador showpard in the, comics but Uh ozoo is
more of a scruffy or smaller, breed and so that's
why we got to. This and they just made him. White, yeah,

(01:47:10):
yeah which is kind of. Fun so, oh that's kind
Of that was all the TRIVIA i, Had, Rob did
you have Any? YEAH i had some folks that were.

didn't she didn't love that part of her character that
she wouldn't be able to figure like they.

Role Nicholas holt was in contention With alexander Scars guard
And bill Scars, guard both of the Stars Guard bros
to play.

LEX i mean they both would have been. Sweet alexander's
star would have been. Dope he's always. Awesome any of
him could have done that, Probably.

Speaker 3 (01:49:32):
And Apparently Bradley cooper was approached for the, role but
he declined and ended up playing which is.

picked up they picked a different chubby bearded. Man that's,
fun damn.

You that was ALL i, had, Though did you have
any other any other, Trivia benny that you found.

Speaker 2 (01:51:56):
Not?

Speaker 1 (01:51:57):
Really uh? Fair? Now that was pretty much. All Uh,
well there'd be a sequel judgment, day a lot of
them of. Them there's gonna be a bud whole. Universe
that party.

Speaker 3 (01:52:09):
Thing THAT i didn't love was that the after credits
scene didn't do anything to push.

Speaker 1 (01:52:15):
That like if we're gonna do The marvel thing and
we're gonna, like let's just show. Kind BUT i will
SAY i will say, That i'm, like at Least i'd
Rather i'd rather you just didn't do The marvel, thing
but You but at least now it's like we've set
the precedent like if you want to, stay we'll give

(01:52:37):
you a little fun, thing but we're not going to
make you stay because it's not gonna like push the.
Story you.

Speaker 4 (01:52:45):
Know it's LIKE i don't want them to Copy marvel.
EITHER i, mean you, KNOW i think if you want
to do something that advances the, story you do it after,
that after the first fun, credits before you get to
the real. One and then it's, like, yo if you
want to stay for the whole, credits we'll give you
an extra little fun. Thing but it's that's what they,

(01:53:07):
did which is WHICH i like that, though because it
doesn't put pressure on the. Audience it's like you can
stay if you want to see but it's not you
don't need to see, it, Right like we're not going
to force you to sit through the.

Speaker 3 (01:53:20):
CREDITS i know that every person in my theater stayed
Because i'm assuming they were, like, well this is going
to be we have to.

Speaker 1 (01:53:27):
Stay, sure you, know BUT i think it's.

Speaker 4 (01:53:31):
Implied but THEN i BUT i but, again that's WHY
i think it's like a nice little precedent to, say
because it's, like we're not going to Be. Marvel we're
not going to drop some crazy info at the. End
sure you can stay if you, Want we're going to
do a little fun, thing but you can watch it
on YouTube later, also.

Speaker 3 (01:53:52):
Right, yeah because, DUDE i could not believe how many
people helped with the.

Speaker 1 (01:53:58):

run time is like two hours and nine, minutes but
