Speaker 1 (00:01):
The sun is shining cloud in the sky. We wouldn't
know because we're so happy inside. Some peoples, but we
would rather sit on down and talk some movies.
Speaker 2 (00:17):

the evid indoorsmen at home are on the go. We're
the avid indoors Man. We hope you love it, so
come on in and stay.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
We'll do our best to make you smile the indoors man.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
What is happening? I'm Rob Lundquist and I'm and we're
the Avid Indoorsman. Hi, Hello, are you buddy? I'm so good.
Thank you for asking.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
You are good.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Not a whole lot has changed since the last we've spoken. Yes,
think I don't think we've talked much about the fact
that I'm going to China. China.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
That's crazy, isn't that crazy? I love it. I love it. Strangely,
we've both been before.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah, yeah, and I'm going to see more this time. Yeah,
and more than I.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Because I really only saw Beijing, smee. I was okay,
I didn't I didn't remember what you guys did. So
what's the scoop? Tell me everything about.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
You know, I don't know a ton. If I'm being real,
that's fairy. That's okay. But we are doing like six shows.
Yeah we're going to be I know, we're in Beijing
and Shanghai and guang Chun, Dalian and another place. So yeah,
(01:51):
we'll get to see I'll get to see more of
the country and that's wonderful. But yeah, a lot of
work to get like a visa and dude, all that
the most we've ever had to deal with before. So
it's been quite the process. Hoping that there are people
that come to the show because it felt like it
was very last second.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
I bet there will be.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
I'm hoping.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
I bet there will be.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I'm hoping, But yeah, it'll be your first time over
over over there.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
So you guys, I mean I felt extremely tall when
I was in China. You guys are going to be like,
I guess you've been there, like you said, But Yep, I.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Was very tall. When I was at the Great Wall.
I just would like people didn't know me at all.
This was well before the sing off, Yes, and yeah,
I was just taking pictures with random people.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Did me too? They were just like, who's this alabaster
skinned young man? Yep, I did Have I ever told
you that? I told some folks I was James Cordon
when I was there.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
No, you did not.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
I it was like James Cardon and I don't even
know if they understood what I was like.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
That was like, wait, Cordies, British, what's happening?
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Oh I couldn't tell, right if they were speaking in
a different Mandarin accent.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Sure, sure maybe they couldn't either, but it is.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
It was a weird culture shock to just have people
come up and take a picture with you just because
you're like this, you know, big white dude. And again
I'm not even that tall, but I felt pretty damn
tall over there, and definitely very like big broad for sure.
Yeah heavyweight.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Huh heavyweight? You do it?
Speaker 4 (03:34):
I got you. Yeah. But that's gonna be so cool, man,
what a fun So you guys are doing six shows?
Are you there for like ten days? Then there's it's.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
A full two weeks.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
For a full two weeks, probably because it's gonna be
a lot of I remember jet lag really hit me
one Oh maybe it was when I came back. Anyway,
it's a long flight.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
It is a very long flight. Yeah, it's from here
to Soul is where our first stop and that was
thirteen and a half hour flight.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Yeah, I think mine was, Man, where did we get
I think we went Chicago straight to Beijing, m like
with no connections somehow. But it was nuts.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
It's nits nuts.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Well that's cool, man, that'll be fun. It'll be fun
to hear how it all goes. And hopefully, like you said,
people will come and all that good stuff.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Right, and we're doing Yeah, so you and I were
doing some extra pods so we can stay on top
of it while I'm gone for two weeks.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Indeed, which is why I don't really have anything new.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Life's good, life's good.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Top summer. Oh it's been so nice.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Yeah, I feel like I need to get out into
it more. I feel like I've been shying away from that.
I got to get into it.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
You got to get into it, into it even just
like walks and stuff. I took Penny on a walk
earlier and it was just glorious.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
I've been very bad about that, agreed, And I'm a man,
a man, an aging man, So I really got to
get out there and use these hips while they're still useful.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
I don't know anyway anyway, Hey, what was the last
movie you watched.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Last movie I watched yesterday? I watched a film on
I think it was on Prime. It was on Prime
Heads of State? Rob Have you ever heard of it?
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Chris Rock, Bernie Mack.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
No, what was that called? Maybe that was also heads
of State?
Speaker 3 (05:32):
I think it might have been.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
Maybe it was just called head of Head of State.
Maybe I forgot all about that movie. No, this is
the one from this year. It is John Cena and
Idris Elba.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Oh, I've seen them on the circuit. I didn't know.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
That they were doing namies. Yeah, I didn't know either.
I just happened to see this one was out there.
It also has uh oh what is her name? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Yeah, Jonas.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Now, yes, this is a movie. It was pretty dumb,
but also pretty fun if I'm honest, like a comedy
action film. Uh Irise Elba is the UK Prime Minister.
John Cena is the President of the US, thus the
Heads of State.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
That makes sense.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
There is some shenanigans that happen, probably more than shenanigans.
There are threats on their lives and it turns into
like an action movie of them trying to go against that.
Shenanigans seemed a little light for that.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Yes, yes, yeah, fatal Shenanigans.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Yeah, you know, a pistol with the next guy who
says shenanigans.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
But yeah, this movie pretty stupid in parts, but honestly,
I love all these people a ton, and it was
it was just enough of like, yeah, we know this
is kind of dumb, but it's pretty fun, you know
that that. I had a good time. And the director,
oh what did he direct that? Hardcore Henry? But there
was another one bus Sorry, I should have rolled this
(07:10):
down navigetting a game shop. Don't fall asleep, Rob, stay
with me, Rob, stay with me. You're gonna like this. Nobody,
That's what it was. Nobody directed nobody. So it's that
very like fast almost like fast forward actionly like very
you know, very fast.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
Yeah that style.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Yeah, yeah for sure. So, uh, I think it's worth
checking out. I had a good time, but it is
like a dumb comedy action flick. So if you don't
think you're gonna like it, you're also probably right to
definite streamer. Yeah, because there was a couple of points
where I was like, come on, but I also was
super into it, you know, like I get it. Early on,
(07:56):
I was like, is this really the premise? And then
I also enjoyed it, so that was right. It was
fun cool check it out, Heads of State. How about
you do. What's the most recent movie you see?
Speaker 3 (08:08):
I watched the new Vince Fawn film on Netflix called Nona's.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Oh how was that? I've heard people talking.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
To you know, yeah, dude. We had some patrons mention
it and that it was worth checking out, and I
took the recommendation and I thought it was lovely. It
had some kind of cheesy, over the top parts, but
it was really heartfelt, had some funny moments. Made me
tear up like five times.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Oh boy, I'm in trouble.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Then you are in big trouble. I was in the
middle of a long travel day. Things weren't going great,
and I might have been in a more like emotional headspace.
I want at all but lots of booze for me.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Love it.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Vince Vaughn's character he opens up a restaurant to dedicate
to his late mother and he loved her. A Hallian
home cooks meals and had the idea to bring in
some older Italian grandmothers or Nona's to cook in the
kitchen and very cute idea, so cute that it was
(09:14):
actually based on a true story, which then made me
even more siri, I know, but dude, super sweet. It
had Lorraine Brocco, uh to Leah Shire, Susan Sarandon, Linda Cardellini,
showed up in more people you'd recognize as well. Totally, dude.
I liked it and then, yeah, the fact that it
(09:37):
was a true story made it even more special. So
that's great. Yeah, good recommendation to the Peytons.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
Petons, they have good tastes. That's why they're here, you know.
Of course, it makes sense, It just makes sense.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
But that is on Netflix. Speaking of streaming platforms, have
you been streaming anything fun?
Speaker 4 (09:57):
Well, ignorant slut? I've been watching. I watched Airplane. Nice.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
It was wonderful. It continues to be great now. I'm
even wondering, is Rob you ignorant slut? Even from Airplane?
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Dan Aykroyd was saying it to Jane Curtain.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
Oh yeah, that's right.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
I don't know why you ignorant slut?
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Yeah? Why did I think that was? Well? It's an
old com I did watch it, though, right, I did
watch Airplane. I loved it. They were talking jive. It
was a tough day to stop sniff and glue.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Uh, it's just a drinking problem. And then spells it
all over himself.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
A hilarious movie that I remembered every beat from it
felt like while I was watching it, I was like, oh,
this is when this happens. Oh wow, I watched this
a lot as a kid. Apparently, you know, it's just
super funny and it honestly it was not on purpose,
but it is kind of snl in that there are
just like a little bits, you know, throughout it's almost
(11:01):
like a little sketches throughout everything. The two like the
white zone is for loading only, and then they like
argue back and forth and it's like, don't start with
your white zone again, you know. Like that whole thing.
All of it is just really funny and silly comedy stuff.
But I really liked it. That was fun.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
Nice man. And that's having an anniversary where you're talking
about possibly doing that one.
Speaker 4 (11:25):
Maybe that's why it like in my brain popped out
or something.
Speaker 6 (11:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
I think I saw it on Paramount or something.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
Sure sound like a fun one, and I was like, yeah,
so yeah, I hope we do it.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
That would be really fun. But it is. It is
a silly, good time that movie. And it's like an
hour twenty eight minutes is what it says, and beautiful.
You know. It's just like bam bam bamo joke joke,
which is really fun. So that's what I've been streaming.
How about you, bat?
Speaker 3 (11:54):
I binged a newer series on Netflix called A Man
on the Inside featuring Ted Danson. Oh my, okay, you
haven't heard anything about this.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
No. All I could think was dirty jokes to say,
I'm sorry, Oh yeah, no, this is not dirty and
ted Danson, yeah, super wonderful.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
In this, he plays a retired widow who's having a
hard time filling up his days and decides to answer
and ad from a PI that would have him go
and check into an assisted living residence to try and
figure out who's been stealing some of the old folks jewelry.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
Sounds great and I love him so much. He's such
a gem.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
And this is going to make you feel that way
even more.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
I'm definitely watch this.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
He's just lovely dude. And it's by Michael shr who
did The Grafice and.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
And The Good Place. Obviously The Good Place nice, but dude.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
He was really funny. Such a fan of him. I
didn't know many of the other folks in it, but
it is like a big ensemble cast. Stephanie Beatriz from
Brooklyn ninety nine is also pretty great in it. Oh lovely.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
I haven't seen her in anything super recently. That Buddies
movie I saw at one point.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
And she was She's done a couple of musicals with
like in the Heights.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
Oh yeah, that's right, right, she was a.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Big pardon Incanto and but yeah, dude, I would I
would highly recommend you would love it. It's eight episodes.
They're like half hourish. It's quick and easy and fun.
Speaker 4 (13:37):
Oh and Mary Elizabeth Ellis I don't know if you
said her. Sorry if I wasn't listening, that's a no.
She's from Always Sunny.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
She's in and then yeah, she was Charlie's interest love
interest and it's Always.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
And I think I think her and Charlie Day are married.
I think if I'm not mistaken in IRL, I think anyway,
I cannot confirm. Look it up on your own. Ah,
that's amazing, very cool, Yeah, very cool. Should we do
a few plug our runs? Yep? All right, guess can

we got sweet, we got a wild card. We got
a beverage and even through a cured meat.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
That's right, So.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
We're going to be going through that. It should be
a good time.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
That's my wrestler name, cured meat.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Cured meat.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
I have a whole disease background. Don't worry about it.
It's not worried. It's not a big deal, but.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
Not a big deal.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
I yeah, it should be fun. We'll see what that
should be a lot of fun.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Yes, what happens. We're excited. We're having a good time.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
No coming attractions, we don't plan that far ahead. Leave
us alone. Yeah, stop it. I'm the only one that
brings it up, and usually it's to say I don't
remember what it is.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
So that does happen. I will throw out there. We
are trying to see the new Superman and we're hoping that.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
I hope it's that one. We'll find out together next
time when the episode we'll know before it's not important.
We are so happy to be here today though, to
talk about a lovely film celebrating it's what is it?
Is it? It's thirty thirtieth Wow, thirtieth anniversary. This is
a movie called Heavyweights.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Heavyweights and finally doing it.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
We're finally doing it, and I'm so excited. And just
like in the film, we had to invite some some
fine young ladies from a different camp over. They thought
it would embarrass us, but really we will. We will
take take it by the horns and we will have.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
A nice time.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
I don't know where this is going, but we love
these ladies. Let's get it early for Jesse and Kay.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
What's up, ladies?
Speaker 4 (16:50):
Oh how are you? Oh God, guys are the best.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
It's so nice to see your faces. It is great.
Speaker 7 (17:01):
What a treat.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
Yeah, I feel like we've had you both, But let's
introduce you separately, just so people can match name with voice.
Jesse your first on my list. Say hello to Jesse Biloski.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Everyone, Hi Jesse, Hello, everybody.
Speaker 8 (17:15):
How's it going. I think this is our third time,
fourth time?
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Oh my god, A few times.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
I mean seasoned veterans in.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
The movie Game Nights for sure. And then you guys
are both on days and confused and that's right on
some stuff.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Yeah, I guess ar't rookies anymore. You're heavy hitters. You're
heavy weight. It's okay, all right, already doing it, really
doing it?
Speaker 3 (17:37):
How you been looks new.
Speaker 9 (17:39):
Oh my gosh me yeah, hi, uh am on summer
break from school, And I said earlier, I feel like
I've been going on walks and reading and like that's it.
Speaker 8 (17:50):
So I know, I feel like I want.
Speaker 10 (17:54):
I always feel a little guilty saying that, but trying
summer break, you know what I mean, I just feel like,
you know, I get it. But so I'm it's real chill.
So my mom today doing great.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
It's beautiful, lovely, welcome back, and Kate duncan a Hi.
Speaker 7 (18:13):
I'm not sure if seeing my mom today would be
real chill, but anyhow, I'm so lovely to be here.
I just threw under the bus getting some shade right
up again, like catching strays for no time.
Speaker 4 (18:29):
I'm going to send her at that clip, Yeah, proud brow.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Yeah, how you been?
Speaker 4 (18:36):
What's now been good?
Speaker 7 (18:39):
I'm on a lessened schedule, We'll say, from the insanity
of my school year. I love that they still expect
me to show up and like have pants on and
make big.
Speaker 8 (18:54):
Just like a lot.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
It's not great, feel bummer.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
But hey, on this podcast, i'd like you both to
know does not have those requirements, do.
Speaker 7 (19:07):
Hey, what's going on?
Speaker 4 (19:09):
Over here. I'm actually poo bearing right now, So.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
Diferences. I love it?
Speaker 4 (19:21):
Yea, yeah, I love it. I love it. Well, we're
happy to have you both here to talk about the
thirtieth anniversary of the film Heavyweights.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Heavyweights, and I.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
Feel like we should just get right into it.
Speaker 8 (19:33):
What do you guys think thirty years is crazy?
Speaker 10 (19:38):
Because I remember watching it so many times and thirty
years is crazy.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Agreed, we'll just get back to the future as well.
And I was like, man, that makes.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Me feel Yeah, that's forty years.
Speaker 4 (19:49):
It came with a year I was born.
Speaker 8 (19:51):
Oh sure, ye that's crazy.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
But yeah, Rob, will you get a started with just
a rough Yeah, I sure will.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
Jerry is not looking forward to his summer vacation since
he'll be spending it at a camp for overweight boys
in order to shed pounds. Fortunately, a kindly couple, the Bushkins,
run the camp and make the process fun and relaxed. However,
they're soon forced to declare bankruptcy and sell the camp
to Tony purkis, a fitness fanatic who turns the camp
(20:26):
into a living nightmare of over the top training, but
the kids plan to fight back.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
Wow all right, wow, great read Wow. I felt like
it was one long sentence.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
There was two periods in there. Yeah, thanks wonderful. Let's
go to Roden to models and hear what they have
to say. Critics of this coming in in a.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Rock solid FI So that's good. What do you want
these people? I agree, and audience members agree with us
because it's up at seventy seven percent, which is much
more reasonable.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
I think that's twenty seven higher.
Speaker 4 (21:11):
Nicely, that's good. All right, good math Ma rops our
math guy.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
I'm the math guy.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
He's our math guy. Yeah, we're always saying it, but
I should I think we should go into what we
think hot take.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Oh that's a hot take. That's a hot take.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Oh it's such a day, spicy pork, cryings or something.
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (21:36):
They like food, hot cheetos.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
Cheetos that will not be drafted by me, like garbage, snack, garbage, garbage.
Let's okay, So let's let's all just be friend until later.
Speaker 7 (21:53):
She's gonna sit on that for a while.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
Yeah that when I eat them, I don't know what
that means.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Can we all move on? My hot take?
Speaker 4 (22:10):
I love this movie. It is one of my all
time favorites. I don't think it's just because I was
a jubby young man who liked seeing all these jubby
young men thriving in the world. But I bet it
had something to do with it.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
For sure.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
As a precocious young man, I was like, oh, I
could have played that part in a movie very often,
and this movie, I was like, I mean, sign me up, guys,
I could have been any of these cats.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Let's roll.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
I could have been the kid jumping on the blob.
You know what I mean. I think this movie is
hysterically funny. I think it is just it's just wonderful.
It also has some heartfelt moments. It's just like, this
movie is what I thought camp was. I wasn't like
(22:57):
the people in my community. We didn't really do cam
in the summer. That just wasn't a thing in northern Minnesota.
But if I went to one, I wanted it to
be like this, well at least until it got to
the fitness part.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Yeah, I want that fitness.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
Maybe we should just remake Heavyweights as adults. Yeah, I don't.
Just so many people in this that were involved in
this project. I didn't know this at the time, but
now have you know gone on to be in so
many other projects that we love, like Apatol, you know,
Ben Stiller, Keenan, you know, like all these people are
(23:40):
still in our lives today, which is crazy.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
Uh yeah, I don't.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
I think. That's all I'm gonna say is I love it,
and I will go to my hottest taken. I think
this is my favorite. Ben still a role that he's
ever done. I love it so much.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Wow, he is a psycho. It is a hot take
that I love it.
Speaker 8 (24:05):
I love that.
Speaker 10 (24:06):
I wrote down that this movie is the reason why
more comedy movies need awards because Ben Steeler's character is
so crazy.
Speaker 8 (24:15):
And he does such a good job.
Speaker 10 (24:17):
But I'm like, I kind of I get why you
do that because he kills it and he's.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
So worthy, so great.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
Oh yeah, so much. I love it. So that's my
hot take.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
That is my favorite hot take.
Speaker 7 (24:31):
Surface of the Sun hot take.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
Wows to fall Up. I do.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
This. This was my first time ever watching this movie.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
I love that so much.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
So funny this has rarely happened on the pod that
we're doing a movie with an anniversary that I've never
seen before, so I'm going into it. I didn't have
any of the nostalgia or the attachments to this movie
in my favor. That being said, I didn't love this movie.
(25:05):
Stop it. I know, I'm talking to three people who
adore it. But one thing I did love and was
surprised by was how many of these kids were also
in the Mighty Ducks movies that I did grow up with.
And I door, yeah, and then yeah, the Judd appet
I was a co writer. I had no idea about that.
(25:28):
I didn't hate it, and I was actually surprised that
it wasn't just a movie about like fat jokes and
making fun of overwing kids.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
Like totally.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
That was my expectation going into it, and thankfully it
was not that, so I was very happy about that.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
It was actually like pretty empowering. Like upon rewatch, I
was like, yeah, it's a lot of it is them
taking that kind of back a little bit at least
to some degree.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but I just felt like, it's definitely
it's definitely made for kids. And had I seen that
when it came out, I probably would have enjoyed it
a bunch. Being a forty year old man, it didn't
do a ton for me. I'm just saying, if you
guys could look at it through my eyes, I feel
like we'd be a little closer. But hot take the
(26:18):
Apache relay first off, did not age well. The campers
dressed as Native Americans. Probably wouldn't do that today. The
other camp looked like they were Romans. So we had
Native Americans and Romans. Yeah, that's just interesting. At didn't
make out of sense. The other thing is that it
(26:40):
really makes no sense that these kids never won this
race before there were like three athletic things in it.
It was like a sack race, throwing a football into
a tire and scoring with a soccer ball. The rest
of it. It does not matter how fit anyone is.
It's shaving a balloon, it's a zip line, it's a
(27:00):
trivia game.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
They can't shave, you're not.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
I'm just saying, like these it should have been like
way more athletically for them to believe that they could
never win over how many years.
Speaker 7 (27:16):
It's a commentary on privilege and upward mobility.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
That's all I heard that. I heard that.
Speaker 10 (27:22):
Okay, I also have never thought so critically about this
movie in my life.
Speaker 7 (27:29):
You know what they say, whether you think you can
or you think you can't, you're right.
Speaker 3 (27:35):
You're right. So yeah, that's that's my my hottest The
apature really is not only offensive but doesn't make sense. Yeah,
non physical and racist.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
There is that.
Speaker 6 (27:50):
There's a few cringey moments we.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
Say we wouldn't do that anymore, but I think we might.
I don't know, but anyway, Also, I just need a
real quick answer something for the edit here. Uh sorry, guys,
I don't know what happened. Rob's mike is cutting out,
so it's might not be in this episode. I don't know.
I don't know. I guess I.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Can have my.
Speaker 7 (28:13):
So you launch a hot take like that and then
just decide Rob's dissenting views don't count.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
I see you. Welcome to my America.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
The edit so this is terrible.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
Wow, I love that hot take, and honestly, if I
hadn't seen it so much as a kid, I yeah,
you're probably right.
Speaker 8 (28:36):
Hotly, I didn't think about.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
The nostalgia for sure, but hot take, hot, hot, hot hot,
I like it. Uh, Jesse Slam, who wants to go next?
Speaker 6 (28:48):
You want to go?
Speaker 2 (28:49):
Kate?
Speaker 7 (28:49):
No, Jess you go?
Speaker 8 (28:51):
You look no, I'm sorry. The jog is right here.
Speaker 10 (28:55):
I that's really funny. You say that because I was
total nostalgia. There's so many like kind of slow motion
montages or like songs in it, and I was like,
I love the sh.
Speaker 8 (29:08):
I was prepared. I haven't seen in a while.
Speaker 10 (29:10):
I know, I rewatched it as an adult, and you know,
it's like every year it's like something else is definitely outdated.
So I was prepared to be like, I want everyone
to know that's listening. I love the movie, but I
understand there are things that are so I was watching
it with like whatever age lens, so there are cringing moments,
but I just loved. I feel like it was like
(29:31):
a get in, get out comedy. I love the nineties
energy of it. I love every single boy character in
that movie.
Speaker 8 (29:41):
I also like.
Speaker 10 (29:42):
That back in the day, I just feel like in
the nineties it was like normal looking actors, Like I.
Speaker 8 (29:48):
Just you know what I'm saying, Like nowadays, sometimes.
Speaker 10 (29:50):
I'm like everybody is so traditionally attractive, even down to
like little babies, that I'm just like, this is so.
Speaker 8 (29:58):
It feels strange.
Speaker 10 (29:59):
And so to see these kids that like I could
have in school running around, do you know, taking over
this grown man. You know, Like I just loved that,
and I probably has let a nostalgia, so I had
like a really good time watching it, and I cackled
so many times and cringed, but like, I was excited
that they overthrow this like Dictator crazy Man, and I
(30:21):
think that's great.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
It was love it, love it, hot take, hot love
it all, Right, Kate, what do you got?
Speaker 7 (30:30):
Okay, I'm coming in with a smoldering take and then
I'm gonna leave with an actual hot take smoldering take
is I am so impressed because if you look at
the writing credits, in addition to jod Apatow, you see
that Keenan gets writing credits.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
So I didn't see that.
Speaker 7 (30:53):
Yeah, so I was thinking about, like, Okay, then he
was in all that. I'm sure he was in many
more things between Heavyweights and all that, but like his
parents were so focused on his you know, career and
his IP and his ability to earn you know, royalties
on all of that. I was just like, Wow, we
(31:14):
are really in the business. So that was just impressive.
So this is actually a movie that I've never sat
down to watch. It has just been on in the background,
so I'm in the same. Yeah, it I think is
more nostalgic for me because I wasn't like fully blind
to it, but it was you know, it was high
(31:38):
jinks and it was the Mighty Ducks Crew for the
most part, and it was just like, I don't know,
maybe it's just right now, but it just felt like
such a simpler time.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
We were sure we were.
Speaker 7 (31:50):
Just worried about the blob, right.
Speaker 3 (31:55):
So I liked it.
Speaker 7 (31:57):
I thought it was like for what it is. Thought
it was really well written when it was written. Of course,
some of the like body image stuff, the stuff around
like what is being fit and healthy? And then obviously
the Indigenous people's dig was was not great. But yeah,
it was a fun romp, you know what I mean? Yes,
(32:20):
hell yeah, Okay, so a few like baby Hot takes one,
mid Drift Panthers Jersey.
Speaker 8 (32:31):
Like so much what are we doing.
Speaker 7 (32:36):
Costume? That's all I'm gonna live in l I v
I M. Which is a callback to our previous episode together.
Speaker 11 (32:43):
Oh okay, here's what I hated and everybody's going to
see it coming one A quote quote well, being an
only child.
Speaker 7 (32:56):
End quote, was like, excuse me, we are not complete
crazy people who have no context of how to interact
with other humans to the most derogatory situation of the
entire movie, this depiction of this skeezy man from western
(33:18):
Pennsylvania who owns a lighting fixture company. We don't roll
like that, Okay, mister.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
That's what I meant by it's my favorite Ben Stiller performance.
It was that it was the dad. Actually it was
just is that not clear?
Speaker 7 (33:35):
I was so upset about that my dad does not
wear tracksuits.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
Oh that he definitely does.
Speaker 7 (33:42):
But like a heartfelt final hot take is I love
a good frozen final scene, you know, like when like
the camera freezes sometimes it goes into like the aha
music video, like drawn, nostalgic, totally music type thing. I
(34:02):
love it. So I'm a sucker for that.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
This fun I love that.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
I like that hot take very hot. Wait, can I
add one additional hot take that I have?
Speaker 3 (34:13):
No God, we just.
Speaker 7 (34:14):
Singed our eyebrows off first.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
It was hot, all right.
Speaker 4 (34:22):
I was just gonna say, I know, I know and
knew a lot of chubby young men that were very
good at sports, and that part has always drove me
a little nuts about this movie. Like a ton of
these a ton of these chubby kids were really good
at sports. So I always was like that kind of
sucks that we don't get a little bit of that,
(34:44):
or like one kid it was awesome or something, you know,
but that's all I had. It wasn't me. I wasn't
that kid, but I knew.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
Others it was not me, to be clear, definitely worked.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
But anyhow, let's go into our favorite acting performance, shall we.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
The dude.
Speaker 12 (35:03):
I'm the dude, So that's what you call me, you
know that, or his dude or duder or you know,
el dud reno. If you're not into the whole brevity.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
Thing, Kate, you want to go first with your dude, Well,
oh yeah you do. I do.
Speaker 7 (35:22):
I am always going to pick Tim Blake Nelson like
I'm just always going to pick him like whatever, even
if he's.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
In the movie for three seconds.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
Like that.
Speaker 7 (35:36):
Guy, that's my guy. I did nothing in this movie,
but he's the dude for me.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
Why do you like Tim Blake Nelson so much? I
agree with you, But is there something that you really
love him from that maybe fall in love with them?
Speaker 7 (35:49):
I actually respect I think he picks really good character
and I'm not going to include heavyweights, but like the
old brother character.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
Was just like I loved him.
Speaker 7 (35:57):
Yeah, role de Yeah, I've seen him be slimy, I've
seen him be genuine and earnest. I've seen you know, like.
I also like the tambour of his voice for some reason, He's.
Speaker 3 (36:09):
Got a cool, void singing voice.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
In the Ballad of Buster scrugs. So, dude, that's fun.
That's a fun pick.
Speaker 4 (36:21):
I like it. That's a great one. Jesse. Who'd you
have for your dude?
Speaker 8 (36:26):
I don't.
Speaker 10 (36:26):
I forgot to look up his real name, but it
is Sam, one of the boys, Sam who had the
jeled's hair spikes straight up.
Speaker 7 (36:36):
He had big example.
Speaker 10 (36:38):
It was like every scene, it's like the focus on
the scene.
Speaker 8 (36:41):
And then there's Sam.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
Joseph Wayne Miller him alone too.
Speaker 7 (36:47):
He's in someone.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
Has passed away.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
I'm just I'm looking him up. I'm sorry to bring
it down. He was only in one other thing. He
was in You.
Speaker 10 (37:00):
He was the kid like after the dance, it's like
they're all sad, and then he gives a slow kiss
to the girl with him. He's the kid salami strapped
to his body when they were all doing the like
download of all the food, every single thing. And then
he calls himself Salami Sam before he like jumps in
(37:22):
the water when Lars is like pushing everybody in the water.
Like it was just all these little lines here and
there that I'm like.
Speaker 8 (37:29):
God, that kid steals this and he looks like just
a normal little guy like I just so he was
my career. I thought he stole like every and it's mostly.
Speaker 10 (37:39):
Facials, like I feel like, I think he probably had
less than ten lines in the whole probably, but he
was my favorite part of like cackled every time.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
He came in, for sure, more than Tim Blake Nelson
did well, right, Yeah, totally fair. You guys picked really
fun dudes. I went more low hanging fruit and took
Ben Stiller as Tony Purkis. I know, I figured you
would think that this is your favorite Ben Stiller. I
(38:13):
saw someone had a theory that Tony Purkis is the
same character as White Goodman from Dodgeball.
Speaker 4 (38:21):
Was super super.
Speaker 7 (38:23):
Being honest, right, But.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Their whole thing was that he was so humiliated from
his time at Camp Hope he reinvented himself as White
Goodman and used his dad's money to help get global,
which is kind of a fun little theory that, yeah,
he was yeah, so he was so funny in that,
(38:46):
but yeah, super silly in this had some really funny moments,
and it is not my favorite of his roles, but
he was very, very good.
Speaker 4 (38:55):
What do you think your favorite is?
Speaker 6 (38:56):
What is your favorite?
Speaker 3 (38:58):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (38:58):
Lord, that's how I'm sorry I shouldn't put you. I'm
sorry I should put you here?
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Yeah, why did you do this to me?
Speaker 4 (39:04):
He's rid of me?
Speaker 3 (39:08):
Yeah? Maybe in Anchorman when he's when he has his
little stuck out pretty great.
Speaker 4 (39:15):
My second might be happy, go more. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
He's pretty cool good.
Speaker 4 (39:19):
Yes, yes, you's gonna hurt because you just boiled landscaping.
But you know, he's probably Zoolander.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Probably, he's so funny.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
He's so good.
Speaker 7 (39:28):
Why I think of what he is in Anchorman?
Speaker 3 (39:31):
Oh, because he's in it less than Tim Blake Nelson is.
Speaker 4 (39:35):
One just one team basically, right.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Yeah, he's just in that fight.
Speaker 7 (39:41):
Yeah, like the big fight when they all meet, right.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
Yeah, he's like the Telemundo.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
Twenty or something.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
Yeah, but anyway, who's your dude? Mugs?
Speaker 4 (39:57):
I also picked Ben Stiller as and they said I
think he's wonderful. I just think he's so wonderfully unhinged.
In this movie, and it really cracks me up how
much he hates himself, how stupid he is, but also
just looks so certain he's right, like emails that in
a lot of his characters. I feel like, but I
(40:19):
just loved him in this. I thought he was so
funny and then vulnerable and then you know, kind of
conniving when he makes the little chocolate out of the
tinfoil and tricks the kid. He does hit a child.
That's not great, but you know, do we can?
Speaker 7 (40:36):
I the briefness of his athletics was to be noted.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
He's very fit.
Speaker 10 (40:44):
Yeah, I just second BU because I'm thinking you needed
such a good job in it, because especially that scene
where he just appears in the window and he's just
so Again this is like like we're all saying, like
this child movie, and he is acting the show out
of that scene and then he's walking on glass and
like they're it's just he's I was so impressed by him,
(41:07):
and I kind of forgot how good he isn't it.
Speaker 4 (41:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (41:10):
I feel like they always say, like you hear actors
be like there's such.
Speaker 10 (41:13):
A fine line between like like, uh, what am I.
Speaker 7 (41:16):
Trying to say?
Speaker 10 (41:17):
Comedy and drama, and I just feel like.
Speaker 8 (41:20):
That his character is like such a good example of that.
Speaker 10 (41:22):
Like it was so unwildly funny, but then it's crazy
and like very dramatic if you like darken the lights
and like made.
Speaker 8 (41:29):
It be a whole different movie for sure.
Speaker 4 (41:32):
And also like he's so willing to make himself look
awful when he hits on the lady and all that,
it's like it's just the cringiest stuff in the world.
It's wonderful. I love it for.
Speaker 3 (41:48):
Great. Well, let's uh, let's go in and pick the
Tucci Ward. It's our it's the other people in the movie.
Speaker 4 (41:54):
Let's go to the Tucci Award to Gi. Y'all went
kind of Tucci is before. I love it, so letting
it for these Uh, Jesse, why don't you go first
on this one?
Speaker 8 (42:05):
Yes? I do, because I did. I chose a smaller character.
Speaker 10 (42:09):
Uh, but this one, I'm giving it to Ben Stiller's wig.
Speaker 8 (42:13):
That the way he like moved his head and it
was always moving the whole entire time.
Speaker 6 (42:18):
I'm like, that's totally a part.
Speaker 8 (42:20):
It's its own separate part.
Speaker 6 (42:22):
And the headband and the running I think when he's
running and.
Speaker 8 (42:25):
It's like flopping all around.
Speaker 10 (42:27):
So I have to give that as an actual Tucci
war because I was so distracted by that, and I
thought it was such a part of him because he
was one of my.
Speaker 8 (42:34):
Other favorite parts of it like that.
Speaker 10 (42:36):
And then I do want to also say for me
was Josh.
Speaker 8 (42:41):
I think it's just so good like this mob Bob.
Yeah that's Goldbirds.
Speaker 10 (42:45):
It's like mob boss kid like preteen like walking into
his jackets, sweat like Tony Sopranosh kind of character I
just love.
Speaker 8 (42:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (42:55):
I thought he was hilarious and always kills in all
those kid.
Speaker 3 (42:58):
Movies, always kill Yeah, Sean, Yes, that's right.
Speaker 7 (43:04):
I looked him up. I was like just googling the
heck out of this movie with people.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
I looked him up.
Speaker 7 (43:09):
And it's a tough modern day, is what I'm gonna say.
Speaker 4 (43:14):
Well, I think he had some issues, some like substance
things and things. Is that right? So yep, he's doing
better now. It sounds like for the little bit I
heard some podcasts or something he was on or someone
was talking about. Yeah, yeah, it's he looks different now
for sure, Yeah for sure, But I love him.
Speaker 3 (43:35):
I think the same.
Speaker 8 (43:37):
Yeah, crack me up for sure.
Speaker 4 (43:39):
Oh, yeah, great, pick uh slam what you got for
your titch?
Speaker 7 (43:45):
My twitches and Mirra.
Speaker 4 (43:47):
Oh love that fun Yeah.
Speaker 7 (43:50):
I don't know why. I just love her and I
love her and him together.
Speaker 3 (43:54):
Of course they're the cutest.
Speaker 7 (43:56):
They're just cute, and they do stuff together in the industry,
and they clearly like being around each other, and they're
always just like so great. I love her her New
York version, her version of the New York accent, like
it's it's classic. I just I think she's great and
everything she does, so she's my teach.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
I love that.
Speaker 4 (44:20):
Love that.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
I went to tie between Keenan Thompson and Sean Weiss.
Hell yeah, both Mighty Ducks alumni. They're both funny. They
just they both shine on camera. They were so charismatic
as just young people and very impressive.
Speaker 4 (44:39):
I love that. That's Great's Keenan the biggest star in
this movie at the time, I mean close.
Speaker 3 (44:47):
Yeah, I mean Ben Stiller hadn't even realized.
Speaker 8 (44:49):
He wasn't right, it was like a second, first or
second movie.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
He was was early early Ben Stiller.
Speaker 4 (44:55):
I guess Jerry Stiller maybe you know and and yeah,
you know.
Speaker 10 (45:00):
Uh, who's the guy, what is his name who was.
Speaker 8 (45:05):
This like the thin camp counselor. He's been in a
ton of stuff.
Speaker 10 (45:12):
I feel like he was probably more of a star
than I think, unless it was early Paul Feek.
Speaker 4 (45:17):
I don't know either. Yeah, it's funny because he's gone
kind of behind the scenes now, right, Like, yeah, I
think directs and all that stuff. I guess, so the Stiller,
I guess to be fair, like, yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:31):
Didn't he do like Bridesmaids? And he does a bunch
of yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely, yeah.
Speaker 4 (45:39):
I love that.
Speaker 12 (45:40):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (45:41):
Just Jerry Steeler is just the best also, so let's
just shout him out too. I love him so much,
so great, And when he is like hysterically crying and yelling,
he's just so He's so so good.
Speaker 3 (45:59):
I love him so much.
Speaker 4 (46:01):
I also want to shout out Tom Hodges, who plays
Lars in this movie. It's hysterical and like a much
funnier character than I remember when I was a kid,
because you kind of like he's a little bit more
in on the joke I think than I realized when
I was a kid, and I just I loved it
a lot. I just thought he was so great and
(46:22):
he was also so Cringey when he was hitting on
the nurse. She was great too, what uh leah lale.
She doesn't get to do a lot in this movie,
but she didn't. I didn't like her. I kept thinking,
especially on the rewatch, like, can we give her some personality?
(46:45):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (46:46):
Yeah, they're just like and there's a lady.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
It's cool, don't worry about it.
Speaker 3 (46:50):
Yeah, it's a lady.
Speaker 6 (46:53):
I think that's kind of standard for the times too.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
So unfortunately fair, Yeah, very very fair.
Speaker 4 (46:58):
That is fair.
Speaker 3 (46:59):
One thing I was interested in Alan Covert, who's in
all the Adam Sandler movies. I never knew he was
in stuff.
Speaker 4 (47:10):
Either. Yeah, yeah, that's great.
Speaker 7 (47:11):
He's always got that fearing.
Speaker 4 (47:13):
Yeah, yeah, you're right. Yeah. Jeffrey Tambar too was pretty
I got.
Speaker 3 (47:21):
Some really funny lines in this.
Speaker 4 (47:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (47:24):
He made me laugh quite a bit.
Speaker 4 (47:27):
Yeah. He says when they're looking at the photos or whatever,
he's like, Jesus, anyway, it looks so mean.
Speaker 3 (47:35):
Yeah, it's really great.
Speaker 4 (47:37):
You know. That was all the people I had though
for the Tuch love it. Should we go on and
talk about our favorite scene? Shall we name the Dugas?
Speaker 3 (47:45):
The dingis is quite simple, really, dingusings.
Speaker 4 (47:50):
I can talk about my dingas all day long. Okay,
why don't you go first with your d I.
Speaker 7 (47:55):
Didn't pick favorite scene. I picked the scene that I
commented did outwardly the most on when I was watching
No Good Reason. It was the scream that precedes them
turning around to see the deer licking.
Speaker 3 (48:12):
Oh when they tie him up.
Speaker 10 (48:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (48:16):
Yeah, it was just like that moment because I again
I haven't seen I've never watched the movie like engaged watching,
so I was like, Oh, what's it going to be?
And then I was like, it's a little deer and
then he was.
Speaker 3 (48:29):
Like I'm being licked by a little deer.
Speaker 7 (48:31):
I was like, that's why, how did that happen? Immediately,
That's there's a lot going on. And then like kids
thought to like cover him in honey, like he's working
out like the kid brain on that one too. Yeah,
just call that one out good pic, how about you?
Speaker 4 (48:51):
Jesse?
Speaker 8 (48:52):
Mine was the dance scene. I love that scene.
Speaker 10 (48:56):
It's one of those moments again I feel like I
just like just that age is so funny and it's
so real how they're all separated.
Speaker 8 (49:04):
It's super awkward.
Speaker 10 (49:06):
There was also like a cringey joke made by the girls,
a bolimia.
Speaker 8 (49:09):
Joke, like, shere's all those moments right.
Speaker 10 (49:14):
Like again, I'm not saying I like condone those, but
I just like the awkwardness and like the reality of
it all like that.
Speaker 8 (49:20):
Stuffs still like I don't know.
Speaker 10 (49:22):
And so she them being parted, one of the girls
walking across and they're all like it's happening.
Speaker 6 (49:28):
Then she's like, can I use the bathroom or where's
the bathroom?
Speaker 8 (49:31):
And they're all just like And then.
Speaker 10 (49:33):
When I'm forgetting his name, the guy starts dancing. It's
just some heartfelt and they all kind of loosen up,
and then Pat starts dancing and they all dance.
Speaker 3 (49:42):
I love it.
Speaker 10 (49:42):
And then again Sam at the end, they're all like stop,
everyone's frozen, and he just leans in for a slow
kiss with that surgeon.
Speaker 8 (49:51):
It's just perfect.
Speaker 7 (49:53):
And I hate that freeze. My kids are saying it
and I.
Speaker 8 (50:04):
Can't believe I just said that.
Speaker 7 (50:08):
I'm so upsets.
Speaker 4 (50:14):
Like me as well.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
Ter I hated that.
Speaker 4 (50:17):
Oh god, yeah, I'm sorry I am.
Speaker 6 (50:23):
It was just a good, happy, happy moment.
Speaker 3 (50:26):
Yeah, that was cute. I put down. When Jerry first
arrives and meets Pat and we realize that these kids
are excited to be there, and then it's not going
to be this scary experience where they get starved or something.
The kids are all funny and they have a good
relationship with Pat, and I thought that was great. I
(50:46):
was like, oh, Okay, this is going to be different
than what I was expecting it to be sure, and
I enjoyed it.
Speaker 10 (50:51):
I feel bad that you thought we were so excited
to watch this movie that would just tear apart little boys.
Speaker 8 (50:58):
And I'm really sorry thought at the monster. I keep
thinking about that. I'm like, I'm really sorry you thought.
Speaker 10 (51:05):
That, because yes, there's jokes in there, but oh my god.
Speaker 3 (51:08):
No, Yeah, I've been judging you guys for some time.
Speaker 4 (51:13):
After this movie. I was a fat little boy. What
are we talking about?
Speaker 8 (51:19):
I just pictured, Yeah, we're all like I can't wait to.
Speaker 3 (51:21):
Talk about I guess these kids.
Speaker 7 (51:28):
Can I say something?
Speaker 13 (51:29):
And I don't, like, maybe I don't know if I
should say this, but like, also, overall, they didn't seem
like they were grotesquely overweight.
Speaker 7 (51:39):
To marrit being pursue a camp and be like, we're
just used to a different, a different metric right now,
but like I.
Speaker 14 (51:48):
Was looking at them, I'm like, Okay, maybe you know,
you would feel a little bit better with a couple
of fewer pounds. But like nobody was was like, oh
my god, my six hundred pound sister or whatever.
Speaker 4 (51:59):
That show is like right, Also, like none of these
kids have gone through puberty or hit a girls spurt, so.
Speaker 10 (52:05):
It's like gonna look like you know, it was the nineties,
people were on like liquid diets, crazy tech.
Speaker 4 (52:15):
No.
Speaker 3 (52:15):
I totally agree that.
Speaker 4 (52:16):
I was like, oh, these kids are all pretty pretty normal.
I feel like I remember thinking that as a kid too,
being like, well, I guess I guess I would go
to fat camp. Okay.
Speaker 7 (52:27):
Four.
Speaker 10 (52:30):
I just remember Huskies was like an actual sat I
remember like there would be like pants and shirt.
Speaker 3 (52:35):
Dude, Benny Ellich talks about that all the time. He
was always in the Huskies.
Speaker 4 (52:40):
We've got some stuff to work out with that, which
I get. You have to start going into the men's sizes.
It's a whole thing. Mom, I'm ten, I know, but
you have the girth of the full adult. I'm sorry.
Speaker 8 (52:59):
Character guys, the character.
Speaker 4 (53:02):
I keep hoping I'll see that at some point. So much,
for sure, I love all those scenes. I also really
for mine. I picked the when Jerry is writing to
his grandma about how terrible the camp is scene me
up because it's kind of like the what was the thing?
(53:23):
It was Andrew Luck. They would do this. There was
a Twitter account for a while that would make him
into like a civil war general and he'd be like,
dearest Matha, I come to you now after a battle
it was terrible and long whatever.
Speaker 3 (53:37):
Just because of his facial hand, because of his weird
beard that he had for a while or whatever, he
looked like an old man.
Speaker 4 (53:43):
But the vibe of Jerry just being like, it's terrible, Grandma,
pray for me. So dramatic, but also it did suck
and it worked to move the plot ahead. It was
so funny. I loved that old scene. It was cracking
me up. And then the other one I but was.
I guess it's a combo of two, but it involves
the like the taping of the documentary, and the first
(54:07):
one is the first time we meet Tony and he's
just like so energetic and all these kids are just
not having it, you know, and he's like at one
point he's like, I see the future president of the
United States of America and he points at the English
kid and they're like, he's from England. And then there's
that one dude who is the biggest kid of them all,
like the tallest year. It was so sad but also
(54:34):
so funny. And then the spot where he's weighing them
after they've been sneaking snacks into the camp and he's like, Okay,
we gained a couple oounds, get out of here, let's go,
and there like he keeps trying to do, like all right,
next tank, all right, let's see Jerry Garner, how are
you all get out of here?
Speaker 3 (54:57):
I wanted to know.
Speaker 7 (54:58):
Like what was the duration of time?
Speaker 4 (55:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (55:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (55:05):
The last one I think is the last one I
think is Josh and he gets out. He's like get
on this, get on the scale, and he's like get
off the scale like comedian.
Speaker 4 (55:13):
So I love that scene so much where he's just
he's just trying to sell it for the camera and
he's like I hate you guys again. Yeah it's wonderful,
But yeah, I like that. Any other scenes anyone feels
like we need to bring up.
Speaker 3 (55:29):
The other one I put down was when they all
revealed that they snuck in candy.
Speaker 8 (55:38):
Licking off his stomach.
Speaker 7 (55:42):
I did like that, and again.
Speaker 10 (55:47):
Sam has salami on them, like it's just so creative.
Speaker 4 (55:52):
I love the download. That's really funny.
Speaker 10 (55:55):
When they sneak into Tony's place to like rifle through
all this stuff is great.
Speaker 8 (56:01):
And then he comes back and they're.
Speaker 10 (56:02):
Hoisting these boys out the window, and then the one
like let's out gas and.
Speaker 8 (56:08):
That whole thing. I'm like, this is ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (56:10):
I love it.
Speaker 7 (56:12):
I will say the scene where Josh pranks him. They
hold him down to do this sit up and Josh
by pulling. I was like, man, the angle the ben
Stiller was coming from a particular mood. That's a toughie.
I'm not like seeing some top crack. That's all. I
(56:44):
haven't heard that one gen Z and alpha terminology right now,
that's what.
Speaker 8 (56:53):
Do you want from? I was just like, man, mini map,
I think my favorite.
Speaker 4 (57:02):
I love something about a toilet.
Speaker 7 (57:04):
I love toilet.
Speaker 10 (57:06):
I loved Lars tied to the tree. And then when
the kid like decks him in the crash. Yeah, and
then when he's like strutting out on when they're all
swimming or whatever and he's like, don't pee in the water.
Speaker 8 (57:15):
And he's like, don't drink the water. He just bet
and and then he sees the nurse and he like
shoves all the kids off the deck.
Speaker 7 (57:22):
I was like, that's classic.
Speaker 4 (57:24):
Misju Misjuly just like that.
Speaker 7 (57:28):
He was like, don't worry, I have them all trained,
and they did it like they were.
Speaker 3 (57:35):
All like buddy.
Speaker 8 (57:35):
He's like, job stupid though, like what.
Speaker 4 (57:41):
I also love the scene where they come back to
untie him and they're like, are you going to be
nice and play along? And he's like, yes, I want
to thank you. It's so nice.
Speaker 7 (57:51):
I do love the I think it's Sam or yeah, Sam,
I think this is I'm not sure if this is
the character, but he gets real close as they're untying him. Yeah,
like you know what I learned? Where did you learn
the fact that you're about to say you'll get deported
if you aren't employed? I was like, what, like law book?
Were you leaving in the interim that you're coming back
(58:14):
with that factory?
Speaker 4 (58:15):
Like what, that's a lawyer?
Speaker 7 (58:19):
So that's right.
Speaker 4 (58:23):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (58:26):
Very similar though, I can see you watch it though.
Speaker 8 (58:29):
Only watch this character the entirety.
Speaker 7 (58:31):
He's great, blonde hair and the like taller shoved up
like it's it's jelled, and he's the one who whispers
the deportation thing.
Speaker 6 (58:42):
I don't I.
Speaker 4 (58:46):
Don't remember either.
Speaker 7 (58:47):
No, I don't even I think he was actually in
I thought he was in home alone.
Speaker 4 (58:53):
I mean, oh, you're talking about the other he's another
he's one of the kids that used to go there
that's now counselor. Yeah, what is that dude's name?
Speaker 8 (59:02):
Oh, yes, he was in the Mighty Ducks too.
Speaker 10 (59:05):
I think I think he was was or like or
maybe that football like Little Giants or something.
Speaker 8 (59:11):
Yeah, he's got like the crew cut.
Speaker 7 (59:14):
Yeah he's at older.
Speaker 6 (59:16):
I don't remember him.
Speaker 7 (59:17):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (59:19):
I forgot about him him quick, but I thought.
Speaker 7 (59:21):
That's what we were talking about this whole time, and
so that other kids.
Speaker 6 (59:23):
No, I don't think.
Speaker 7 (59:26):
No, No, that's crazy to me. Let me talk about
one more crazy this person, isn't. I spent a solid
five minutes thinking that Miss Julie was one of the
two supporting actresses from Beakman's World. So first of all,
everybody go in your brains to Beakman's World, have to.
Speaker 8 (59:49):
I don't know what that is.
Speaker 7 (59:51):
It's that show with a scientist of like a mad science.
Speaker 4 (59:56):
I never watched the dude with the rat. The rat
was freaking and I was.
Speaker 7 (01:00:01):
Like, was she like literally a fold of my brain?
Speaker 4 (01:00:05):
It doesn't look like that lady, right.
Speaker 7 (01:00:07):
And I like Beakman's world.
Speaker 4 (01:00:10):
Was she just funny? Because that lady has been in
a number of things that she's hilarious.
Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
She's really good. She is so funny.
Speaker 4 (01:00:24):
Last night and waiting.
Speaker 7 (01:00:26):
All of that.
Speaker 8 (01:00:27):
Oh, I don't know even what that is.
Speaker 4 (01:00:29):
I forgot about that. That's great.
Speaker 7 (01:00:32):
That's a tough one.
Speaker 4 (01:00:35):
Yeah, what are we doing there?
Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
All the things we all picked different scenes?
Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
Yeah, so there's lots of little.
Speaker 8 (01:00:44):
Can I shout out Ben Stiller's acting one more time?
I got a kick out of yes.
Speaker 10 (01:00:49):
When they lock him in the bar that like shed
barn thing and he's in that cage and he's.
Speaker 8 (01:00:56):
Taunting Nicholas the.
Speaker 4 (01:01:00):
Treat.
Speaker 8 (01:01:02):
I just feel like it's so I feel like this
movie cracked me up.
Speaker 10 (01:01:05):
So much because it was such a clear like evil
character and like they do heroically win in the end,
and I feel like a lot of kids movies nowadays
it's like this. I've heard people say this to and
I agree, where it's like you're you're your worst, You're
your evil, like you're your worst nightmare, and it's like
give a crazy man an evil character and like call
it a day. And like, I thought it was so
(01:01:27):
good in that where he's tied up and he's like
freaking out with the tape.
Speaker 8 (01:01:30):
I just was like, this is this is great.
Speaker 10 (01:01:32):
I think it made it funnier to me because it
was so extreme.
Speaker 4 (01:01:36):
Nice that it's not a Pixar movie and my parents
had to die, you know.
Speaker 8 (01:01:41):
Yeah, yeah, Like I just think it was like the
bad guy gets in, you know, it's in trouble, and.
Speaker 7 (01:01:50):
I just liked that he was like the kid was
like throw it here, and he was like I can't.
It'll smoosh, like what wing Man is like, it'll smooth.
Speaker 8 (01:02:01):
I do.
Speaker 10 (01:02:01):
I saw I saw Benstiller talk about it and he's
like there was a bit quite a bit of like.
Speaker 8 (01:02:06):
Improv and stuff. And I just wish there were more.
Speaker 10 (01:02:09):
I tried to find like groopers or like second you know,
because I think it would have been hilarious to hear
more of the outtakes and things.
Speaker 4 (01:02:16):
But yeah, can I mention one last scene that I loved,
especially as a kid, Yep, after they take him hostage
or whatever, and they have their giant like Bachanalli party
scene with all the kids. They're eating stuff, they're spraying
chocolate sauce. As a kid, I was like, that's the
(01:02:38):
life right there. That is a party.
Speaker 10 (01:02:42):
I also appreciate that scene. I feel like a perfectly.
Speaker 8 (01:02:45):
Timed toot sound ye just annihilate me.
Speaker 10 (01:02:50):
And it's like they're all groaning, they're all hungover, and
it's like the camera's spanning all these little these kids like.
Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
And you just hear, yeah, amazing, the best, good call,
the best, that's the highest for us.
Speaker 11 (01:03:05):
High.
Speaker 3 (01:03:07):
I'm with you.
Speaker 8 (01:03:09):
You're in the right mood for it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
Oh my god, there's I'm never not in a mood
that always. Yes, that's a very good call.
Speaker 4 (01:03:20):
I love that. Well, they're all the dings.
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
I don't know so many dingus.
Speaker 4 (01:03:26):
Is all over this movie. It's crazy. Let's go talk
about our favorite quote. It's time to show me the Jesse.
You want to do a couple first, some Sure, there's.
Speaker 10 (01:03:42):
One that made me scream, but I don't really want
to say it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:47):
Oh no, interesting, you want one of.
Speaker 4 (01:03:49):
Us to say it.
Speaker 6 (01:03:50):
Well, it just says the word loads in it.
Speaker 8 (01:03:51):
That's why I thought it was funny, guys. Well it's
a part. It's like the.
Speaker 10 (01:03:59):
Beginning when they're showing Jerry the camp video and Jerry
does Jerry.
Speaker 8 (01:04:05):
Doesn't want to go to the camp.
Speaker 10 (01:04:08):
He says, I'm not going to go to a camp
with a bunch of fat loads.
Speaker 3 (01:04:15):
I also love that, but we didn't know what you
meant to say fat loads.
Speaker 4 (01:04:25):
That's a real I don't know.
Speaker 8 (01:04:27):
Talking about the kids.
Speaker 10 (01:04:29):
Like he's watching the video and it's all like, look
at the school camp, and then he starts to realize
it's like a weight loss.
Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
Camp, right.
Speaker 4 (01:04:36):
I do love that. Immediately after that, he turns to
his dad and he's like, you're fatter than I am.
What a you go to the camp.
Speaker 10 (01:04:43):
It's also you just don't speak like that.
Speaker 8 (01:04:48):
So then it's just like, oh my god, oh my god.
But it's the word loads load.
Speaker 10 (01:04:54):
Load is one of my favorite words word in the
English Dictionary, and I.
Speaker 4 (01:04:58):
Forgot he's in context, and I was wondering where I
missed it.
Speaker 5 (01:05:03):
Anyway, I feel like any way you use load is funny,
Like I feel like a load.
Speaker 3 (01:05:16):
Okay, there is you do have that on the record.
She's done right now.
Speaker 8 (01:05:26):
We lost her an inside joke for just.
Speaker 10 (01:05:32):
When we were in Cabaret and it was the goofy
movie song.
Speaker 8 (01:05:37):
And Kelly would sing weird, it would sing weary, load
sold loud. It was on the open.
Speaker 3 (01:05:45):
Road, so she's dying. We lost.
Speaker 8 (01:05:52):
I'm so sorry. It's not calling anybody. That's just load.
I feel like I have a few I love. Stam
calls himself. He says, watch out for salami jump.
Speaker 4 (01:06:11):
Fun.
Speaker 8 (01:06:13):
Oh, there's so many perkis, purpose ones. Oh I wrote
what okay, somebody.
Speaker 4 (01:06:20):
Else need to give you a second, We'll go to slam. Wow.
Speaker 10 (01:06:29):
Wow, okay, there's so many Oh my god.
Speaker 7 (01:06:37):
So a quote that I just appreciated because I didn't
remember the moment when I think it was like the
kids first see nurse Julie and two of the kids
still going. Two of the kids are talking to each
other and they're like, did you see the new nurse?
And Josh says, and I was cringing. I was right.
(01:07:00):
So I was thinking if it were twenty twenty five,
it would have been the most disgusting comment. But Josh
just goes.
Speaker 3 (01:07:06):
This pleases me, and that was awesome.
Speaker 7 (01:07:09):
It said every like it was so complimentary and not
like pig behavior like it was just like, all right, Josh,
you're you're a real one, dude. So I just was, yeah,
props for that. I did chuckle whenever, I guess it's
not a quote, it's more of a scene. I'm sorry,
whenever they fake, like when they're on the bus and
(01:07:30):
he fakes them out that they're going to go into
the drive room. And I also thought that was such
a sweet moment where they were all like, oh okay,
but we understand, like it wasn't like a cruel like
you're not getting McDonald's fat kids, Like, it was just
this like we're not doing that today, like gotcha. I
like that. And then I did like Ben Stiller's quote,
(01:07:52):
oh look DEALI meat.
Speaker 4 (01:07:56):
Such a right?
Speaker 7 (01:08:00):
Those are those are my Jesse? Can you breathe?
Speaker 8 (01:08:04):
Yeah? Can I say one real quick? And he talks
to himself.
Speaker 6 (01:08:09):
Where he's like, how are you doing, Tony?
Speaker 8 (01:08:11):
How are you doing little Tony bad?
Speaker 10 (01:08:14):
And he's like talking to himself back and forth, like
having this little like therapy discussion with this like little Tony.
Speaker 8 (01:08:22):
That one cracked me up a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:08:24):
That's great, It is great.
Speaker 3 (01:08:25):
Did you have any other ones?
Speaker 8 (01:08:27):
I feel?
Speaker 3 (01:08:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (01:08:28):
I also just like when he says, I eat success
for breakfast with skim milk and like.
Speaker 8 (01:08:36):
Those are my big ones.
Speaker 7 (01:08:37):
I like that. That's a jup. That's how theme though,
because what is that doing? Madison?
Speaker 3 (01:08:48):
Yeah, that's so Shooter mcgavit. Yes, I wrote some down
the attention campers lunch has been canceled due to lack
of hustle.
Speaker 4 (01:09:00):
Deal with it, So deal.
Speaker 7 (01:09:01):
With the deal with the best part of that pretty great.
Speaker 3 (01:09:05):
So they get him with the Seymour butts. Butts. Nobody's
seen more butts than you, Uncle Tony. It's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (01:09:18):
Also, right after that, he's like, you put the wrong
man mes. Yeah, yeah, that's great.
Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
When they're doing their run, at one point, Ben s
Tiller just goes, come here, you devil log and for
whatever reason, that really got so good. What else did
I like? Oh? After Tony Perks shows his video and
how he's going to change the camp, you just hear
(01:09:46):
one random kid, yo, I want to go home. I
love just a random weather. You don't even see them,
but it's just off camera. Oh I'm a sucker for that.
Speaker 4 (01:10:04):
Same by for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:10:06):
Jeffrey Tambour when his son is telling him how horrible
it is and He's like, well, I didn't send you
to go kart camp. I thought that was pretty funny.
Thanks Dad, And I will say one of the worst
lines of all time is when he says crazy about
my gal, just like, oh, it was just fringy and horrible.
Speaker 4 (01:10:31):
We all liked it.
Speaker 3 (01:10:32):
Sure, oh I hated it.
Speaker 7 (01:10:35):
So question about that moment. Did it feel uncomfortable? How
much Jerry the child actor looked like Pat the adult
actor in Like's future.
Speaker 4 (01:10:48):
Definitely?
Speaker 7 (01:10:48):
I just kept thinking it, like, yes, wait, that's not
his actual dad.
Speaker 4 (01:10:54):
No, I think you know. They said they sent him
there because he had a weight problem. Really he was
being sent to the camp where his actual biological father worked,
and so they were No, I'm just kidding. They really
did look alike. For sure it did.
Speaker 7 (01:11:12):
Child was like is this my future?
Speaker 3 (01:11:14):
Like he was just like, oh, when do you have bigs?
Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
Oh, let's see, we already said that. Hey, don't be
in the water. Don't drink the water. He peed in
it so so funny. Also that same I loved lur
so much, but he was like, now I must warn
you I have a severely deviated septum. When I sleep,
I make a very disturbing sound. Alarmed, and I can't
(01:11:44):
believe I never said that to you Rob at some
point when we were sleeping in the same room.
Speaker 10 (01:11:52):
All delivery, I feel like everything he delivered was great.
Speaker 4 (01:11:56):
It was so so good. So congratulations is mister Sims,
You're the fattest boy in camp. And then Gilbert goes,
all right, let's hear for Sims.
Speaker 8 (01:12:07):
I love that part. I love that part.
Speaker 4 (01:12:10):
I just loved that. He was like, yeah, I love
that we did it. Did you ever hear the story
of Icarus? He continued to roll the ball up the
hill was good, good stuff. Oh my god, let's see
(01:12:32):
that might be it.
Speaker 8 (01:12:34):
I gotta say this.
Speaker 10 (01:12:36):
This movie did so much like I thought. Just the
group chatter was very comical to me, where it'd be
like like they're all laughing, and it felt very like
stage laughter, like somebody just said laugh and then all
the guys are like or like the end, they literally
said hip hip hooray three times.
Speaker 6 (01:12:55):
I was like, is has anyone ever done that ever
in real life?
Speaker 8 (01:12:59):
Is that? It was like uncomfortable, but yeah, I was like,
that's hilarious. But there's a lot of that.
Speaker 7 (01:13:06):
I really like the dialogue that was happening and I
forget what it's called. But like when they're they're doing
the ski thing with the little like yes bonnets on
their shoes.
Speaker 8 (01:13:17):
Yea, Lars is like.
Speaker 7 (01:13:19):
I'm feeling skinny, Tony. I just liked the like it
was unnecessary for them to talk so great.
Speaker 4 (01:13:28):
Yeah, feeling skinny. Also when Josh comes back and he's like,
Josh was bad, Josh now good? Must be good to
see my big ass again.
Speaker 3 (01:13:40):
Oh yeah, when he's all weird. This guy he got
lo bottomized or something.
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
Yeah, yeah, he put him through shock therapy or something. Yeah, yeah,
for sure.
Speaker 10 (01:13:52):
I feel like my juvenile side always thinks of this.
Speaker 6 (01:13:56):
I feel like he was making fun of Tony.
Speaker 8 (01:13:58):
But when Jerry yells a loser with the skinny Wiener.
Speaker 3 (01:14:04):
That was funny because what was he actually saying.
Speaker 8 (01:14:08):
I don't remember.
Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
Skinny winners and yes, skinny winners, skinny wieners, That's not
what I said.
Speaker 7 (01:14:22):
Like the Seymour butts is an insult, But how like
is seeing butts bad? Like I always like that quote,
like I seen more than you don't like, Depending on
what kind of butts you're into, maybe that's like that's
a notch in your your butt.
Speaker 3 (01:14:38):
Build you know, honestly, I want to see them all.
Speaker 7 (01:14:40):
You have a fetish, Yeah, every last book.
Speaker 8 (01:14:45):
Oh my god, I wrote down.
Speaker 10 (01:14:46):
I like googled the movie to see, like if there
was anything interesting about it, and they it said apparently
they were trying to do a different phrase. Instead of
Seymour Butts, they were trying to say Peter Fits.
Speaker 4 (01:14:59):
I have that.
Speaker 10 (01:15:00):
Yeah, it was like a fun fact that. But they
said I think it was Disney or something was like
that's more graphic or like dirty.
Speaker 3 (01:15:08):
So it's like, what is it like Peter Fitz.
Speaker 4 (01:15:12):
You're right, so, Josh, anyone.
Speaker 10 (01:15:14):
Anyone's Peter Fitz is what they wanted them to say.
Speaker 4 (01:15:21):
He was going to ask Peter Fits, and then he
was gonna say anyone Anyone's Peter Fits if you push
hard enough, which is actually a pretty rough joke.
Speaker 8 (01:15:34):
I also.
Speaker 3 (01:15:36):
That's a good call. They switched.
Speaker 8 (01:15:38):
Yeah. I meant to send this to you guys. It
popped up for me on Instagram the other day and
I meant to send it to today before we met.
Speaker 10 (01:15:45):
But there was a cut scene and I was like, yeah,
that's gross because they're like adolescent boys, but they're talking
about there there's like a boner joke right before they
go in to see Nurse Julie.
Speaker 8 (01:15:54):
I think, and.
Speaker 10 (01:15:56):
They're like, oh, so I should send it to though,
because it's kind of like but it's just a cut scene.
Speaker 8 (01:16:00):
It's also good they didn't do that one too. I think, sure,
it's pretty.
Speaker 3 (01:16:03):
Girl, definitely send it though, for.
Speaker 4 (01:16:08):
Sure.
Speaker 3 (01:16:12):
Well let's uh, let's keep on moving, let's do go
to bugs boohoo moments the crying game. I picked two,
but I don't know. I mean, you guys can let
me know if if you thought there were more. I
thought maybe when the Bushkins revealed they don't own the
camp anymore.
Speaker 4 (01:16:31):
No, that didn't You would think it would, but it
didn't get me.
Speaker 3 (01:16:34):
I did think its yeah, I mean, it gets funny.
And then hey, Pat, thanks for the best damn summer
of my life.
Speaker 4 (01:16:49):
I did like that. Yeah, like that.
Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
That was pretty sweet?
Speaker 4 (01:16:53):
Pretty sweet?
Speaker 3 (01:16:55):
That was all I had. Did you guys think he
could have bahooed in any other spots?
Speaker 4 (01:17:00):
I have a couple, Yeah, get me.
Speaker 10 (01:17:03):
I have the sunset scene when he was like, uh,
Pat and Jerry are sitting in the dock at sunset,
and I feel like I feel like a damn this
is a heart.
Speaker 8 (01:17:15):
There's like a harsh having a heart to heart, and.
Speaker 10 (01:17:19):
I feel like Tony j like previously had just gone
into Pat, and so Pat says like I don't want
to just be the fat guy anymore or something, and
they're having like a beautiful moment really talking about it,
and then they like yell at the camp across the
way and stuff.
Speaker 8 (01:17:34):
But it was this beautiful, like connecting moment.
Speaker 4 (01:17:37):
Yes. Yeah, And then.
Speaker 10 (01:17:45):
When Pat volunteers to take over the camp and all
the kids start channing.
Speaker 4 (01:17:53):
I did love that that didn't get me. I was surprised, actually,
I remember right, I wrote down a note like OHM
surprised that one didn't get me.
Speaker 10 (01:18:00):
But and I think my last one is all when
Jerry and Pat taught, I think they're all They're like
having a heart heart again by the go karts and
Jerry says I've always wanted to go fast.
Speaker 4 (01:18:13):
Yeah, I feel like I almost.
Speaker 10 (01:18:15):
I feel like I choked up because I'm like, that's
just the realist response.
Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
Ever, I loved that whole That whole little go kart
scene was very sweet and just like, you know, he's
just trying to do right by this kid. You know, Yes,
I did that did get me for sure.
Speaker 7 (01:18:30):
I liked that moment.
Speaker 3 (01:18:32):
It was three three, Do you have any more?
Speaker 4 (01:18:34):
No? That was all I have? Nice?
Speaker 3 (01:18:37):
Sorry, nicely done, good team work.
Speaker 4 (01:18:42):
Should we do a little movie trivia?
Speaker 3 (01:18:44):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:18:44):
Sure, I don't have a lot for this.
Speaker 11 (01:18:47):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:18:48):
We said the one about the Peter Fitz joke, which
is intense uh.
Speaker 3 (01:18:52):
And poor taste and to taste they needed the Simpsons
because the Simpsons came up with so many Amanda huggin
kiss was always my face.
Speaker 6 (01:19:03):
I did like that one, A gentle one.
Speaker 4 (01:19:06):
Yeah, and just a nice time. While Ben Stiller played
the parts of both Tony Perkins and his father, the
Bushkins were played by his actual parents, Joe Steeler and Mira,
which I guess we already knew, but just in case
people didn't know that. Uh, let's see as a part
(01:19:26):
of his first date with his eventual wife, Judd Apatow,
Oh Doggie Puppy Patreon dot com slash you have endorsement
if you want to see the.
Speaker 8 (01:19:34):
Dog I was showing you, guys.
Speaker 4 (01:19:36):
I loved it. Judd Appatow tried to impress Leslie Mann
on their first date by showing her this film, which
I think must This was a fun I didn't notice it,
but I did go back and check it out. As
the kids are getting off the Camp Hope bus when
they're first arriving, you can see the max capacity is
(01:19:59):
written out as twenty five, and then they've scratched over
it and then wrote in by hands twenty three.
Speaker 3 (01:20:06):
It's pretty good. That's pretty that's pretty good.
Speaker 8 (01:20:09):
It's very cute.
Speaker 3 (01:20:10):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (01:20:11):
That's funny. I like it.
Speaker 3 (01:20:12):
That's a nice touch.
Speaker 4 (01:20:14):
While filming the scene where the kids have a party
after locking up Tony Purkis they and restoring the camp
the way it was, Aaron Schwartz, who plays Jerry, injured
his arm and his cast had to be hidden in
the scenes featuring him. That the ones still left to
be shot, so they were going after it. Apparently, Yeah,
(01:20:34):
these kids were drunk on sugar for sure. Let's see. Ah,
we said the Mighty Ducks crossovers, we had a bunch
of them that were in at least one or two
or even three of them. Sean Weiss was originally not
interested in acting in the film, but he changed his
mind when he found out that if he did not
(01:20:56):
act in Heavyweights, he wouldn't have been allowed to act
in D three The Mighty Duck. So wow, it was
a two for one special, I guess or something.
Speaker 3 (01:21:03):
So are you so good in it?
Speaker 8 (01:21:05):
It was so great?
Speaker 4 (01:21:06):
He's great.
Speaker 3 (01:21:06):
I love him in trying to turn down movies. Yeah,
twelve years old. No, I'm good.
Speaker 4 (01:21:15):
I can't imagine ever turning down a movie, you know. Yeah,
I'll shut up. In twenty twelve, during a PBS telethon,
Jerry Stiller and an Mira spoke to the camera side
by side, just like in the Camp Hope promotional video.
The same music that played in the Camp Hope promotional
video played in the background of that PBS drive as well.
(01:21:37):
So I thought that was kind of fun and sweet.
There was a scene where Tony takes up bow and
arrow and aims for the kids and Jerry's dad, but
Disney cut it. This must be at the very end
of the movie. This scene is available in the deleted
scenes on the Blu Ray version, though, So I want
to see that.
Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
Is this PG?
Speaker 8 (01:21:59):
Is it PG?
Speaker 4 (01:22:00):
A good question?
Speaker 10 (01:22:01):
Actually, yeah, because I'm like it kind of rides like
a little intense light if it's like a kid's movie.
Speaker 4 (01:22:06):
Right it is PG? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (01:22:08):
Okay, okay, so that makes sense, right, now obviously fits joke.
Speaker 10 (01:22:15):
I suppose that would have made it thirteen right, and
then we said we said something else earlier.
Speaker 4 (01:22:19):
Yeah, yeah, but it is PG and let's see. On
the Blu Ray commentary as well, Judd Apatas states that
he once ran into Paul Thomas Anderson and he told
jud that he loves Heavyweights. Wow, it's got good taste.
Good taste.
Speaker 8 (01:22:35):
You should have seen it as a kid.
Speaker 3 (01:22:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:22:39):
Can I tell you one thing.
Speaker 10 (01:22:40):
I found an interview with Ben Stiller and the Kelsey
Brothers the football Oh yeah, Travis Kelcey and they talked
about Heavyweights, and it was so sweet. It's just like
a short part of the short part of the interview.
Speaker 7 (01:22:53):
Of course that is.
Speaker 10 (01:22:55):
But Travis Kelcey was like, I was a husky care
whatever he says. So he was like, I felt like
I wanted to go to Camp Hope.
Speaker 8 (01:23:02):
And they both were just like, we love this movie.
And I thought that was so cool. And then Ben
ben Stiller.
Speaker 10 (01:23:10):
Said in the interview, Who's like, I don't think we
could make it today because people because people would either
it's like an attack on kids. Even though I guess
I thought it was a little lighter than that, but
he was just like, I don't think I could make
it today or something, which is always just interesting, right,
maybe change like some of.
Speaker 4 (01:23:27):
It, but yeah, that's interesting. Nice.
Speaker 6 (01:23:31):
Yeah, one more thing he said.
Speaker 10 (01:23:34):
He said that is Tony Purkis character was partially influenced
by Tony Rabbits.
Speaker 7 (01:23:40):
I wondered.
Speaker 8 (01:23:47):
I thought, yeah, I thought that was good.
Speaker 4 (01:23:49):
That's cool.
Speaker 7 (01:23:51):
Did you say that the Chris Farley John Candy fact?
Did I miss that?
Speaker 4 (01:23:56):
I didn't.
Speaker 7 (01:23:58):
Apparently they pitched to Chris Farley to be Pat and declined,
which I think is a good thing. And then they
had thought of John Candy when they were writing it,
but he passed away before. Oh yeah, he would have
been awesome.
Speaker 8 (01:24:18):
With I think I think Pat.
Speaker 10 (01:24:20):
The reason Pat was so good as because he was
like the real gentle side of it all.
Speaker 8 (01:24:24):
Yeah, like the more real part of it.
Speaker 10 (01:24:28):
Yeah, he might have been like two over the top, right,
so like the heart like Pat was the hardest.
Speaker 3 (01:24:32):
It would have been so much funnier if Chris would
I mean, it wouldn't have.
Speaker 8 (01:24:37):
Been it would have been a different movie.
Speaker 4 (01:24:38):
I think you definitely would have seen it.
Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
I would have seen it so many times.
Speaker 10 (01:24:43):
I think it would have been really different though, because
then he probably hazed and done all this. Pat was
like this gentle, neutral, kind.
Speaker 3 (01:24:49):
Little character honestly been my character.
Speaker 4 (01:24:53):
Yeah, this is a fat camp, but we are really
good at sports. Because Farley was so athletic, could have
been it would have had to be a different thing.
Yeah that's wild. I mean I love Chris Barley, so
I would have loved for him to be in it.
Oh same, But yeah, what would have been different?
Speaker 10 (01:25:09):
I wonder what era it was of Chris Barley when
this came out, Like, was he already so huge kind
of thing like sl Yeah, he would have been already
like a huge Okay, yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:25:23):
It was him in Spade like they were.
Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
Yeah thing, Yeah nice, nice Rob. Did you have any
trivia that we didn't get to.
Speaker 3 (01:25:33):
No, I just had that Sean White's bit you were
talking about. But yeah, Judgment Day, will there be a sequel? Yes,
there have been rumors of Heavyweights too.
Speaker 10 (01:25:46):
I feel like a modern day Heavyweights that could I
feel like.
Speaker 8 (01:25:51):
In our like we could tackle, it'd be tackled in
a different way.
Speaker 4 (01:25:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:25:54):
And most of the main kid actors are still acting,
so you could still have them come back. Maybe they're
counts or.
Speaker 10 (01:26:00):
Something and make it like a weird wellness camp, you know,
like something something kind of you know, I don't know,
influencer culture totally.
Speaker 4 (01:26:11):
Yeah. I think they could do it, I really do.
Speaker 3 (01:26:15):
Maybe maybe they will do You guys want to play
a game? Sure, I made a game. It's a quotes game.
So I'm going to say a quote from a film,
and I want you to give me three things the
title of the film, the character name, and the actor's
name who said it. You can get three points for
(01:26:38):
each quote. If you get any of those wrong, you
don't lose any points, but the other person can come
in an answer for points. All of these films have
something in common, and if you know the theme, you
can ring in for a point at any time.
Speaker 9 (01:26:53):
Got it?
Speaker 3 (01:26:54):
Got it?
Speaker 4 (01:26:55):
Good?
Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
You already number one. I'm pretty sure there's a lot
more to life than being really really ridiculously good looking.
Jesselander correct, Yes, that's correct.
Speaker 4 (01:27:14):
Derek is his first name. Get it?
Speaker 8 (01:27:20):
I thought it was a trick question?
Speaker 3 (01:27:22):
Yep? You got it?
Speaker 4 (01:27:24):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (01:27:25):
Let's go to number two. Nobody makes me bleed my
own blood.
Speaker 4 (01:27:31):
Bugs, bugs, dodgeball, A true underdog tail I think is one. Yeah, story, Sorry,
I got scared Ben Steeler.
Speaker 3 (01:27:44):
Yes as well.
Speaker 4 (01:27:46):
Crap we just talked about. Yeah, was that so? No? Not,
that's all that was his dad, wasn't it? White Man, Whitman,
white white more so close? Yeah, I don't know what
I'll take.
Speaker 3 (01:28:00):
You're close. Does anybody want to go off that?
Speaker 4 (01:28:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (01:28:04):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:28:05):
You're very very close. It's White good good Man, dang it? Okay,
and Saul Goodman was from like Breaking Back.
Speaker 4 (01:28:14):
That's right, okay, got it?
Speaker 3 (01:28:16):
Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:28:17):
So wait are the bugs? Are they Ben Steeler movies?
Speaker 3 (01:28:20):
They absolutely?
Speaker 8 (01:28:21):
Okay, I I hope.
Speaker 3 (01:28:23):
So now now you can only get two points from
now on because they're all Ben Stiller quotes.
Speaker 4 (01:28:33):
Wait to think ahead, Yeah, because it'll all be Ben Steeler. Yeah,
other people from his movies. It could be, but it's
it's not okay, but it.
Speaker 3 (01:28:42):
Is so so Yeah, it's only two points from here
on out number three. You can trouble me for a
warm glass of Shut the hell up now you will
go to sleep. Who was it?
Speaker 4 (01:28:58):
I don't know if Kate got it there I did,
I don't know. Give it the tapes.
Speaker 7 (01:29:04):
I don't know that character's name. He's in charge of
thee in the old folks home and he's the.
Speaker 3 (01:29:11):
Director, and it's what moves. It isn't happy Gilmore. Does
anybody want to take a guess on the character name?
Speaker 8 (01:29:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:29:24):
War Shut the hell up a warm glass of shut
the hell up. Now you will go to sleep or
I will put you to sleep. You're in my world now, Grandma.
Speaker 4 (01:29:37):
Yeah, Trey Severino, that is so close.
Speaker 3 (01:29:42):
But no, his name is hal Hell hel l shell Hell.
All right, let's go to number four. Oh, you can
milk just about anything with nipples.
Speaker 4 (01:30:00):
That's meet the parents and his name is gay Lord
Gregory Fokker.
Speaker 3 (01:30:11):
Nicely, way to go. That was very good. All right,
let's go to number five. Goodbye Mama, Now you can
have ice cream in heaven. I'll see you again tonight
when I go to bed in my head movies. But
this head movie makes my eyes rain.
Speaker 8 (01:30:35):
I have no idea.
Speaker 3 (01:30:39):
Oh it makes my eyes rain.
Speaker 4 (01:30:45):
Can you read it one more time for me?
Speaker 3 (01:30:47):
Goodbye mama, Now you can have ice cream in heaven.
I'll see you again tonight when I go to bed
in my head movies, but this head movie makes my
eyes rain.
Speaker 6 (01:30:58):
And it's a BENSI wow.
Speaker 4 (01:31:02):
Uh from Traffic Thunder it is. I don't know that
dude's name. I only ever saw that the one time.
Speaker 3 (01:31:12):
Anybody remember Tropic Thunder name character name, so I would
have take taken two different names. So this was the quote.
When he is doing they show the clip of him
as simple Jack. Oh yeah, yeah, and his regular character's
name was tug Speed Mint.
Speaker 8 (01:31:35):
What have you watched that recently? I kind of wanted
just to see, like you know what I mean.
Speaker 7 (01:31:44):
In my life, I've never seen it.
Speaker 8 (01:31:46):
Okay, I saw it forever.
Speaker 4 (01:31:48):
It was ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (01:31:49):
Same. I saw it when it first came out and
