Speaker 1 (00:42):
I'm Rob Lundquist and I and we are the Avid
indors and hollo over.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
Hello, how are you buddy?
Speaker 1 (00:51):
I'm doing Gray Pal. I feel like it's been so long.
It's because it has been so long. It has a
man feel like it's been a minute. I finished up
the Jukebox tour. Yes, I think we did an episode while.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
I was on that. Yeah, and yeah, I go out
to the Christmas tour really quick.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
And you've been busy too, what.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Were you mas?
Speaker 5 (01:16):
I went up north for a week.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Was hanging out full week, right?
Speaker 6 (01:22):
Yeah, I mean I was working from up there for
most of it, but yeah, just hung out with the family.
It's a dear camp season up there, and it was
extra special this year because it was one of Dad's
favorite times of the year.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
So we just had some.
Speaker 6 (01:37):
Lovely family time and the niece and nephew came up
and the Northern Lights were out all crazy, which was
all right.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Dude, I guess they were even in the cities here.
We missed it, but I should.
Speaker 6 (01:49):
Send you some pictures that I realized now that I
haven't done that. They Yeah, we're doing stuff I'd never
seen them do, and I've seen them a bunch now,
but it was like red to the like with the
naked eye, which never happens.
Speaker 5 (02:05):
It was really cool. It was it was wild, so
we got to go see those.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Yeah. Man, we had eat a bunch of food. And
did people get into deer? Is that what they do?
Speaker 6 (02:16):
The party got some deer? Yeah, I don't know what
the current count is. I don't hunt.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
I just go to hang out.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
And I've sort of turned into the camp cook, which
is a.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Job I'm ready for. So it's, uh, it's fun. But yeah,
we did all kinds of crazy stuff and also nothing,
you know, so it was fun.
Speaker 5 (02:37):
It was lovely.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
You weren't able to eat the deer that fast?
Speaker 4 (02:40):
Are you? Oh? Yeah? Did you eat.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Did you get some Venicon?
Speaker 4 (02:44):
Then?
Speaker 6 (02:44):
Ah, yeah, we had No, we didn't this year. Actually
that is strange. Usually we eat the backstraps the next
day as sort of a treat. But we had only
got before I left. I think they'd only got one deer,
like my brother had only got one year.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
Otherwise it was.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
Family friends who were in the party that got them.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
So gotcha them.
Speaker 6 (03:08):
But man, we had a lot of pancakes and feed
a Genie Alfredo. We made one night we do we
do like breakfast sandwiches all the time, and it was great.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
It was real good. Love it real real good. Yeah. Yeah,
that's all I've been doing. What have you been doing?
I guess you already said.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Just touring, man, And I've been home for like a
full week, which has been really nice. I went had
a big Minnesota sports weekend where I got to see
our Timberwolves lose in person and our Vikings lose in person.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
I didn't realize you went to the Timberwolves game. I
guess I missed that one. Fun, so it's your fault,
I guess.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
So, yeah, that was a bummer. It was really cool
because I guess it was the Prince night, so I have.
I have a Prince jersey now, which I'm I'm enjoying.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Them purchasing one. I'm pretty sure, because yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
It's the coolest uniform.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
But yeah, they.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
They just didn't do well at the very end, which
was a bummer.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
Yeah, well they were playing Denver.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Denver's amazing.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
We just we've only beat teams that are under five hundred,
and we've only lost to teams over five hundred, so
we can't beat good teams. That's fine, really, yeah, I'll
figure it out. But I also went to the theater
just the other morning.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
Oh what did you see?
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Well, I went to an empty theater because I went
in the morning and it's at the very end of
the theatrical run for one battle after another.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
Oh you were able to see it?
Speaker 4 (04:54):
Horah?
Speaker 1 (04:54):
I was, And I'm really glad that I saw it
in the theater me too.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
What did you think?
Speaker 1 (05:01):
I really enjoyed it?
Speaker 5 (05:03):
Wasn't it great?
Speaker 4 (05:04):
I really really loved it.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
I had been kind of putting it off because it
was two hours and forty minutes. I could have seen
it on the road, and I was just like, that
would be my whole day up until which is like
and stuff. So it was just like cool, I don't.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Know, and then i'd be home.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
I just like, I can't it's three hours, but dude,
it did not feel like it. I was entertained the
entire time. I think it might be my favorite Paul
Thomas Anderson film thus far.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
I don't even think it is. I'm pretty certain it is.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
So much of his stuff is so dark, and this
one was kind of more of a thriller, really.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Like kind of a siller.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Yeah. It had a real silly thread through it, which
is so fun. Ye, I'm with you, I'm with you.
It was like, because all of his films I can
respect and like really well done.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Probably not going to rewatch ever, Like There will Be
Blood is probably a masterpiece, but I'm not gonna see
it again.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Yeah, where this one.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
I feel like I would go back and watch this
because it was just fun and the characters were kind
of goofy and just I I really enjoyed it. So
I'm gushing, but I was very very glad I saw it,
and I would highly recommend it.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
Love it. It's going to get some Oscar stuff too.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Yeah, I mean it's definitely gonna be nominated, Like, but
it's because it's it's that like thriller kind of a movie.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
I don't know if it's going to win any like, yeah,
that's fair real awards. You know. Javier Benisio you mean sorry, Yeah,
it was really fun. He was just so funny. He
like was just a charisma bomb. I think, I said, well,
and Leo was so much fun and yeah, kind of
(07:00):
a different character for Leo too, which is kind of
like Regina Hall acted her ass off. She was awesome.
She was awesome in it. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
I loved her in it a lot.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
I could see it being up for some cinematography because
like that kind of ending scene, it was so intense.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
Because of how they shot it.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Man, Yeah, I could go on and on. I loved it.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
Yeah, so yes, exactly. Yeah, I did love that. That's
a good cable. And Sean Benn was so crazy. Go
check it out.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
It's so go watch it, guys, it's real fun.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
What was the last movie you watched?
Speaker 5 (07:37):
Last movie I watched? Also in the theater, I saw
Springsteen Deliver Me, Deliver.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Me from Nowhere. Easy for me to say, uh, this
is the biopic.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
I was excited for it initially and then I didn't
hear great things.
Speaker 6 (07:53):
Yeah, and I kind of have like that a little
bit of a lukewarm take on it. I will say
the past things first. Jeremy Allen White is great in it.
Jeremy Strong is really fun in it. Paul olther Hauser
is in it. He's just always a joy. David Crumholtz
is in it, and you know, I like, there's there's
(08:13):
a bunch of fun stuff in it. Also just really fun.
I have now been to that part of New Jersey
with Chanson, Zami and stuff, so it was just fun
to see things. So that was like, Wow, that's really cool.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
What is it s Eshbery Park. Yes, that's the second word.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
Yeah, this is all it's.
Speaker 6 (08:37):
It kind of in a fun way, gets away from
the like it's too wide scoped because it's their whole life,
because it's pretty much only talking about his album Nebraska
when he was coming up with that.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
I will say.
Speaker 6 (08:51):
Not the most compelling, Like it just didn't feel like
there was a lot going on. Like the acting was good,
the script was just okay. I thought some cool shots
and like the songs and stuff were really fun.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
But it just didn't It just didn't hook me. I
had fun, but I just didn't.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
Think it was amazing. I guess, so it's kind of
a lukewarm review. But it was a good time.
Speaker 6 (09:13):
It just wasn't like, I don't know, I felt like
they were going for like Oscar movie, you know, like amazing,
and it wasn't that for me. I'm not a huge
Springsteen guy though, either, so maybe that is part of
the you know, I know a ton of tunes from
that album, but I don't know, and nothing against him.
It's just like, yeah, he's okay.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
He just never was a part of my you know,
life or whatever. So I don't know that.
Speaker 6 (09:38):
I feel like that is worse than I want it
to be. But I had a fine time watching it.
I just don't think it's like an amazing film. Okay,
watch it on a plane, you'll have a guy, You'll
have a nice time.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Sure.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Yeah, I've missed quite a few of those biopics when
it's when I hear that, it's like, okay, I'm like, yeah,
I might just miss it then, but that's okay too.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Yeah, I don't know, it was It was fine. Yeah.
I had some moments, for sure, sure, but yeah, what
have you been to? Stir?
Speaker 1 (10:10):
I finished the fifth season of slow Horses. Oh it's
so much fun, man. I feel like I say that
every time. There's only six episodes a season, so it
feels like it goes by so fast.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Yeah. I really need to get on that again.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Yeah, you say that every time.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
I know I liked it, but just like I don't
know what.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
The thing that I like about it is that I
feel like a lot of those kind of mystery thriller
shows feel like they lull in the middle, and because
this is only six episodes, it's like there's no time.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
For that to happen. It's perfect. Yeah that is great.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Well, yeah, Gary Oldman is still amazing. The rest of
the cast is a bunch of fun. They added Nick Muhammad,
who we all know from The ted Lasso.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
That's cool.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
He played kind of a douchey politician in this season.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
Yeah, just a good time. I'm a big fan of
the show. I like that. I like that someday maybe. Yeah.
Lots of stuff, lots stuff to watch, right, I know,
it's crazy, it's crazy. Fants.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
What have you been streaming?
Speaker 4 (11:18):
I rented The Roses, which I don't think I've talked
about on here yet.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
You have not talked about the Roses. Now that's like
war are the Roses? Kind of right?
Speaker 6 (11:28):
It is a remake apparently, which I did not know,
which is the Did you know that was Danny DeVito directed.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
That back in the day, Yeah, and Michael Douglas and.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
I never saw it.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
I kind of want to now.
Speaker 6 (11:42):
Super dark comedy, very like surreal almost at points. The
cast is like insane. It's Olivia Coleman, Fanaedic Cumberbatch. They're
the main couple of Yeah, okay cool Olivia Coleman and
Ben the cumber Batch of the main couple both absolute
(12:03):
delights as well, all you know, Kate McKinnon, Andy Samberg.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Uh, there's just a ton of people in it.
Speaker 5 (12:09):
That Zoe Chow, who's been in a few things I've.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
Really liked, Yeah, which I really have enjoyed. They're married.
Speaker 6 (12:18):
And then like it's sort of one of those kind
of marriage story e about a complicated relationship that's sort
of going through some hard times. But this is like
the insane side of that.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
Where like they're doing crazy things to each other, they
do love each other. It's very weird.
Speaker 6 (12:37):
It's uh, it's really something, but it's super super funny,
and I was I was laughing out loud several times
in it really well acted as we would expect from
those folks.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
I don't know that it's for everyone, because it does
get pretty dark.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
You know the original one was Oh it.
Speaker 6 (12:55):
Was okay, Well that makes that makes total sense then,
But if if you're a okay with that brand of humor.
Speaker 5 (13:01):
I really had a good time with it, and I
like that style, so it was fun.
Speaker 6 (13:05):
I definitely recommend seeing it. It's not like the best
movie you're ever going to see, but it's it's pretty
fun and just to get to see these great actors
go crazy, it is pretty fun.
Speaker 4 (13:15):

Speaker 1 (14:23):
I spent so much time on that this morning, so
much more so easy so did I and I was like, oh, what.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Does that that we spent time on it?
Speaker 1 (14:35):
I spent Jesus like the fact that we have to
do twenty. I was like, I hit twenty on the
dot and I'm like, I'm done.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
I'm done.
Speaker 5 (14:45):
I've spending this much time. Stretchy, but I'm like, for sure,
let everyone go here to the.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
Yeah, good deal, glad.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
I was like, oh, this will be a breeze. And
I was like, Jesus Lord, okay, it was not. I
thought are some great ones.
Speaker 4 (15:02):
But anyway, I digress. I'm sorry to trample all over here.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
No, that's exactly how I felt.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
It'll be wonderful though. But we are here today to
talk about a great little film called ace Ventura When
Nature Calls from nineteen hundred and ninety five. It is
thirty years old, thirty years kind of crazy. Ah, and
we just we got a couple of our just are
just our silliest boys with us here.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
They their balls are often showing.
Speaker 6 (15:33):
Let's give it up for Benny Ellich and Adam Renegade Wilson.
Speaker 7 (15:38):
What's up, guys, Hello, my friend. That was amazing, beautiful, beautiful.
Speaker 5 (15:54):
I saw you winding up. I didn't know what it
was gonna be.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
That was great. It was worth the way. Thanks, pregnant
of all the pass I loved it days ago, excited
it worked out, It worked out. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
I can hear the listeners chuckling in their cars or
homes or wherever you listen.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
To your favorite podcasts. Yeah, right before I.
Speaker 5 (16:19):
Brought you on, I said, these are two guys who
their balls are always showing.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
It was pretty good. So they've either they're either in
or they've already shut it off with this. They know
what this is.
Speaker 5 (16:35):
Oh boys, it's so nice to see you. Yeah, we
have renegade here, Hi, Renegade. How are you but live
in the dream the d one day time. You are
the dream, my friend, you are the dream.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
And Benny il just back too high by my little darlings.
Just so excited to see you. November.
Speaker 5 (17:00):
The Vikings are mediocre.
Speaker 4 (17:02):
And we're all probably overweight, so we're doing it. We're
doing it. Life's good to be fair. Me being overweight
has nothing to do with the time of year. Truth.
And you can't wear hats, and you can't wear can't
wear hats, that's because my head is so fat.
Speaker 5 (17:19):
But you got this great beard going you raise that
barn tomorrow with all your friends. It's gonna look so good.
Speaker 6 (17:26):
It really is Amish adjacent and like it looks like
I've really rob and I have talked about this.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
It looks like I really purposely manicure this. I do not.
It just doesn't grow there.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
It just grows in that perfect line, does it?
Speaker 4 (17:39):
Really? It does. Yeah, I've never shaved this part of
my face there.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
Wow, I don't know. I don't naar it either.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
I just.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
Okay, have I seen that bright shade of red on
your face before.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
Isn't that fun? It's great? I love it.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
It does look very red in this light.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
Let's start talking about my dumb beard. Uh, Rob, let's
talk about your beard. How's Kelsey?
Speaker 5 (18:13):
I don't know, I feel self conscious, it is.
Speaker 4 (18:19):
She's fine. Thank you?
Speaker 5 (18:22):
Did you use a ladder to get to the top rope?
Speaker 4 (18:25):
Just then? I'm short and have to of course. Thanks
for listening to everyone.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
You're wonderful. We want to tell everyone to watch Elsbeth.
There's no segue here, Benny. You're in an episode of
Elsbeth Paramount plus, season three, season three, Paramount Plus. I
think it's episode five, maybe three.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Yeah, watch watch all the seasons though, I shall probably
look that up. And I just completed Bull Durham the
Musical at paper Mill Playhouse. How'd that go? How was lovely?
Lovely time? That's awesome. I saw you were doing some
social media stuff. I was like, cool, Well they got you.
I wasn't I know you? Yes? Yes, It's the only
(19:08):
time I ever see you in anything is when other
people do it for you.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
Yeah, Adam correct. These guys Renegade will be like, hey,
I sent you that funny video on Instagram. I was like,
oh yeah, and he's like like two months ago. So
you and I are the same. I'm more of a voyeur,
not really a participator, but you.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
Know in so many ways.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
Look, I just like I like to get on there.
I like to watch cooking stuff and home free videos
and then.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Good man, I love it. You haven't caught.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
I still haven't watched the Edmund Fitzgerald video because oh
it's so good. I was excited and then I was
looking for it.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
But what you guys?
Speaker 5 (19:55):
You dropped it on the on It's on the YouTube
it is now, but was it? You didn't drop it
till kind of reason, right.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
It's been out for a few weeks. There was a
big teas and then out for four years. It's been
out for a while now.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
It has been out for a while. It was really good, dude, Honestly,
it's one of the one of our best.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
It looks.
Speaker 5 (20:17):
I watched all like the trailers in the little Yeah Yeah,
and we did it on the William A.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Irvin up until I know, which was really fun. It
was neat.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
Could you could you pop across the parking lot and
get some double Decoroni at Old Chicago. When you were done,
I did not come on.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
I didn't, but I did that last time we were updated.
You sure did, and we felt like hell. Afterwards, we
went to the Trampled by Turtle show. They were playing
at Bayfront, like, let's go and do that, and dude,
I was miserable the whole time.
Speaker 5 (20:46):
Yeah, well, we ate so much funny.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
I was having a nice time with when I filmed.
Speaker 5 (20:52):
When I filmed that movie there a few years ago,
that was the first place I went was a little yeah, yeah,
I love that.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
It was great.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
So enough reminiscing's let's reminisce back to the nineteen nineties.
Speaker 6 (21:07):
Yeah, nineteen ninety five. Before someone has to go pee,
let's talk about ace Ventura. When nature calls, wob Well,
you get started with just FROs.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
I ain't no if that was a joke about us
being old or when nature calls. It was good at it.
It all worked. It worked.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Legendary pet detective ace Ventura returns for another adventure when
he's coerced out of retirement while on a soul searching
retreat in the Himalayas. He must now retrieve an endangered
white bat from a village located in Africa. The sacred
animal was offered up as a wedding dowry from the
Wachutu Prince to the Wachiti Wachati Wachati Princess. And if
(21:47):
A's can't track down the culprit behind the kidnapping in time,
civil war will break out.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Between the two rival tribes. Nice. Nice, good read nice.
Speaker 6 (21:59):
That's more plot than I I would have thought was
in this movie. Well, yeah, that's something. Let's go around
to models and hear what they have to say. Books
have this coming in at ros solid?
Speaker 5 (22:11):
Yeah, you guys, you guess forty six? Yeah, I was
going to say fifty two.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
It's twenty lower lower, twenty three incre lowest. Do you
think it's to be up there for the lowest? It's close.
Speaker 6 (22:29):
Yeah, and it is definitely our biggest gap, I think
because audience members have it all the way up at
seventy two.
Speaker 5 (22:35):
That's that's pretty good. But yeah, twenty three from critics,
they didn't get it.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
That's a rough. That's a rough one. That's a rough. Four.
But let's hear what we think.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
It's time for our hot take, hot take.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Ooh, that's a hot take.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
That's a hot take. Spicy. I guano might be spicy
depending on what the bad.
Speaker 5 (23:01):
Yeah, true, you're right, you know, because it does depend
on the pat's diet. Yeah, the bat had three chili
cheese burritos for lunch.
Speaker 6 (23:09):
Soon, Amen, dude, Amen, I can go first. I watched
this movie a ton when I was a kid, and
I loved it a lot. Yes, it is not as
good as the original, but it does have just so
many funny parts. I think like watching it this time,
I was like, man, it's like, I mean, this character
(23:32):
was already goofy in the first one, but it's like,
while he was meditating with these monks, he was also
just sniffing glue the whole time. Because he is nuts
in this remake, which is really really fun. Let's just
get it out of the way early. The doesn't age
great with the native tribes and the African folks. That's
pretty rough at points. He's a big dumb idiot, So
(23:56):
there's that. I don't know, the parts of that are
not right great. I liked the take of him like
that's the one animal he doesn't love because he thinks
they're yuckie.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
I thought I thought that was fun too.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
Dude, what's kind of the It's kind of the Indiana
Jones thing. You know, he's not scared of anything except snakes.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Like there's some trivia. He didn't like that. Jim Carrey
did not like he thought that was super animals and yeah,
he thought that was very cheap. But I thought it
was kind of a fun mcguffin.
Speaker 5 (24:26):
I thought it is just one random thing that he
doesn't Yeah, I like that.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
It's it's not the.
Speaker 6 (24:34):
Largest plot hole in this movie. But yeah, I just
I thought this movie was super funny. It contains one
scene that I know, we'll talk about a bunch that's
so much maybe the funniest scene of all times.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
Like that's why we have our top five drives Renegade.
Speaker 5 (24:49):
I figured we would spend about fifty minutes on that
scene and then whatever the time we had left, we
would just hit the rest of the movie.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
That is literally the only reason why we're doing this movie,
because that.
Speaker 5 (25:02):
The same scene happened sooner and I was like, this
is the right movie, right, because it's later than I thought. Anyway, Uh,
there are still a bunch of stuff in this that's
really fun. Jim Kay's a great comedic You know, like,
especially his physical comedy is so great.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Uh, it's just it's just really funny and it's fun.
I think the first one is a better movie, but
I don't think that's like a crazy thing to say.
Speaker 5 (25:26):
I had a great time my hot take though hot
take out of all of cinema, this takes second place
for me. It's my second second favorite movie to end
with a bad guy fornicating with a gorilla. So that's
something nice second face, Like my first favorite Rob is
trading places.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
I was like, I know what this is.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Yes, dude, I thought the exact same thing. We have,
like an identical hot take.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
It's like a word for word. I don't even just
say anything. The only the thing about the gorilla, did
you that was? I didn't. I didn't say the thing
I did think the thing we thought for sure think it.
I didn't. That's really good.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
I will just mention it's written and directed by Steve
Odakirk and I did not know that. If you aren't
familiar with him, he's the guy in Kung Pao Entered
the Fist. He wrote, directed and was the main guy.
And that who that's the guy who directed this movie.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
Then that movie, watch movie.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
No, No, he hasn't done hasn't done a lot.
Speaker 4 (26:37):
Okay, sorry, I think the first one did a bunch
of movies. He wrote, Bruce Almighty, this guy liked Bruce did.
He's one of the writers on it.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
Because Tom Shady act directed Bruce Almighty's Yeah sorry, I didn't.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
Sorry pretty much.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
The only thing I wrote was that I thought it
was fun that we got Ace in Africa so he
can be with like a whole different group of animals
like stents and hippos and of course rhinos. But yeah, otherwise,
the exact same take.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
It's really it's it.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
It was a goofy comedy sequel. I didn't find it
as compelling of a story as the first one, but
has some of my favorite bits of all time and
one liners. And I'm really glad that this movie was made.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
Hell yeah, same hot take?
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Hot what do you guys?
Speaker 5 (27:34):
Who wants to go first?
Speaker 4 (27:37):
I can go. I was trying to think of a
hot take that, you know, not involved the rhino, so
it took me a minute. My hot take is this
is the second best money grabbing sequel ever made behind
Home Alone two. Okay, and I mean that as a complement. Okay,
(28:01):
because it's very hard to write, produce film, and releaseless
a movie features. This is so close to my hot
take too, Like this is it's like twenty one months
after the release of ACE one and ACE two.
Speaker 5 (28:20):
Okay really wow?
Speaker 4 (28:22):
Yeah, ninety three ninety five crazy and obviously is one
hundred percent due to Jim Carrey. And if it's not
for him, this is teen Wolf two. Love that off
of Bateman's ass. I love that so much.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
And our next episode is on teen Wolf, which.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
One, well yeah, and then future obviously right, obviously way
in the future, that'll be your last episode. But but no,
I'll just say that it's not nearly as good as
the first, but it's probably more quotable for sure. Agreed
for sure read I mean yeah, probably certain one for sure.
Speaker 5 (29:10):
That yeah, I mean, that's funny because obviously to what
yuzad mute same these, I mean, I as we know
from the we all did the first ACE pod, I
was obsessed with Ace Ventura, which is an insane movie
and probably shouldn't have existed, and with any other actor,
(29:31):
who knows what that would have become. But my my
hot take was along the same was this is a
perfect sequel, and I don't like, I don't think it's
like a great movie and certainly not better than the first.
But I was just thinking of sequels in general, because
we make sequels basically for to either either the movie
(29:54):
is set up for a sequel, and that's kind of
the plan, and it's like build in, and it kind
of makes sense. Poor it's this movie did so well
that the studios like, we have to make another one
because this and this, this is the all time, Like
I'm sure the studio is like, okay, and then it
(30:17):
just did what it did and then Jim.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
Carrey obviously.
Speaker 5 (30:22):
Annihilated the box office for that whole two years and
they were like, well go, which actually, to your point, Robbie,
kind of is surprising to me that they couldn't get
like a better director, right, or that shady Act didn't
come back.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
I don't know if we'll get it. I don't know
if we're gonna do it with Trivia, But I think
this was Jim Carrey picked.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
Him right, he did, but another ahead left. He left
to go and do Celtic.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
Pride, which was kind of funny. Dan Aykroyd exactly, but yeah,
but yeah, so the sequel thing. You know, I think
it's such a strange balance of we wanna, we want
to we want to repeat the things that made the
first one good, but we also need to make it
(31:11):
different enough that we're not just doing the same thing
over again. And I think it's such a tricky line
to walk, you know, when I think of things like
Ghostbusters to uh, you know, Matrix obviously, uh, Weekend at
Bernie's too.
Speaker 5 (31:34):
You know, it's like, you know, when when they're just like,
we have to do this because of it was crazy
D two, D two two. Anchorman two, I think is
a good example. That's a tough one, but see Anchorman
two's I feel I feel, I feel like Anchorman two
(31:55):
for me is just like this one where I actually
think I don't think the movies perfect by any means,
but I actually think it's a fun sequel. I feel
like they found a good story that's kind of like
the first one, but it's different enough. But we repeat
some We repeat a lot of the same stuff I
wrote down. He's been sure too. I don't know if
(32:18):
this is the time to do this, but the repeat jokes.
He does sunflower seeds again, he does a crazy parking
thing like a glove. He does the bad guys, a
rich guy who's like a crazy animal collector. He does
the fast, he does the and he does the rewind.
(32:42):
He does another William Shatner reference. He does butt talking, Yep,
lend me your ears. There's probably more, but those are
the ones I clocked.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
Hungry fella he does that again.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
He definitely says, So.
Speaker 5 (32:59):
You know, I guess my hot take is it's not
like the greatest movie, but I do think it's I
think it's very difficult to make these forced to gates
point money grabs sequels because it's like they're not necessary.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
But it's kind of it's always kind of interesting on
the timing of sequels, you know, like it's like there's
the ones like this where it's like we we hit
something and we need to get this out immediately and
keep it going, and then there's like Top Gun Maverick
right where it's like that's the opposite.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
But I think I think it works in their favor
to do it this way or Home Alone's way, because
it's like, you know, when this came out, I assume
we were all I was still watching nasevon.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
Sura absolutely all the time. And home alone. It's like,
we need to do this now while he's a kid.
Oh yeah, no kidding, not doing things where they're they're
all forty year old. So yeah, I guess that's just
my hot take is kind of sequels in general. Yeah
like that.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
And I remember I saw Tom shady Ek was doing
The Nutty Professor, which ended up having a really good
sequel as well.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
Yeah. I like that.
Speaker 1 (34:19):
I think it was just the clumps. Yeah, but anyway,
hot take hot hot to take, too hot for pods.
Speaker 4 (34:32):
This next one probably isn't real, uh, a crazy hot take.
But let's go to favorite acting performance. The dude. Dude.
I'm the dude, So that's what you call me, you
know that, or his dude or duder or you know,
eldud a reno if you're not into the whole brevity
(34:54):
things pretty easy. Yeah, I mean, like I'll go first
because James James Carrie is James. All I'll say about
him is like, it's it's just he's just a true
bona fide box office movie star. Yeah, and and he
just comes out of the gate and just crushes the
(35:15):
whole nineties and yeah, I mean it's just something you
don't really see anymore. It's oppressive and just what It's
just wild that just one person could just drive a
whole force like that. It's oppressive, Like yeah.
Speaker 5 (35:32):
Dude, Yeah, his his IMDb run from like ninety four
till two thousand is pretty bananas. He was working so
much and also like he blew up, Like I feel
like his only real comp would be like Robin Williams. Yeah,
even like a director standpoint, just like John Hughes in
(35:55):
the like yes, late eighties, early nineties he had a
run that was insane into but I meant more. I
meant more, well, yes, I meant more.
Speaker 4 (36:03):
Just as a performer. Yeah, he's such a he's such
a force of nature.
Speaker 5 (36:12):
Yeah, just you know, like when we did Liar, Liar,
we were talking about like who else could have even
everything he does? You try to imagine anyone else doing it,
and it's like what would would a manure even be
a thing? I don't even know, Like maybe it could
have been something fun and cute or something.
Speaker 4 (36:30):
But I don't know that just one of one.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
Yeah, his physical comedy is just like it's probably the
best ever, but wild ever.
Speaker 5 (36:42):
And this this character, it makes no sense.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
No, his choices made no sense, But it's it's his
commitment to the bid is unmatched for and D Sherlock
Holmes or something and wrote that down.
Speaker 5 (37:00):
Sherlock Holmes is he's he's a really wild Sherlock Holmes.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Yeah. I love that. I love that. I feel the
same way. Yeah, are we all picking him? I assume
we are.
Speaker 5 (37:14):
I mean, of course, no one else anything like, at
least in the like, no one else does anything.
Speaker 4 (37:23):
Courtney cox And is like somewhat Collee some action.
Speaker 5 (37:27):
Yeah, it's like Sophie what's her name is good in this,
but she doesn't have anything to do three scenes.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
Well, hey let's go, let's go to the two JH.
Now we got some real stuff here to talk about.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
Hey, that's what this guy's good. I did the character
actor trifecta Ian McNeice. He's got one hundred and fifty
two I NDB credits. That's incredible, one hundred and fifty
four and one hundred and forty three. He's a stage
(38:07):
actor as well. He was he was og uh sorry
o g uh uh avida on Broadway. He played Sweeney
Todd after Lenn Carew always he's got a big voice.
He was real, of.
Speaker 5 (38:26):
Course, to everyone he's the scariest villain in shosh Ank
of all time.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
But of course, yeah, and yes, Simon Callo I'd seen
in a lot of things I picture him in, like
Shakespeare in Love and yeah, but Ian McNeice, I felt
like I did not see him very much.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
No, I was on his and I hadn't seen the
one hundred and fifty two credits though.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
That's impressive, though, I mean that's a lot.
Speaker 5 (38:54):
I feel like he's a big like BBC guy, And yeah,
he had a run on Doctor.
Speaker 4 (38:58):
Who that I remember was an episode of Game of Thrones. Nice. Nice,
So you went with those three folks, that's cheat getting
the trifecta. I love that. I love it.
Speaker 5 (39:21):
I mean I guess, I mean I would go with
Sophie Oo. She's Oscar for Hotel Rwanda and she's unreal
in that movie.
Speaker 4 (39:38):
And what else do I know her? She didn't get
a ton she's Yeah, she's done a bunch of I.
Speaker 5 (39:41):
Mean, she's done a ton of stuff, like she's great,
Like she's done some TV too, Yeah, a lot of TV. Sorry,
I'm looking, I'm trying to remember what else I knew
her from. But yeah, I mean again, she has nothing
to do in this movie. Uh yeah, yeah, it's that's
a rock.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
I was a big Tommy Davidson fan, so I.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
Thought Tommy Davidson was so funny back in the day,
especially on a Living Color.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (40:13):
Actually, no, that's you're right. He Actually he was great
her Life of Bees.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
She was in that movie. Yeah. Oh yeah, So I'll
give it to Sophie because she's an OSCAR nominated nice.
Speaker 1 (40:27):
Yeah, I was excited about Tommy Davidson that hope. That
stuff probably isn't great though, right, but I did find
it funny.
Speaker 4 (40:37):
At the time.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
I also wanted to give a shout out dude, the
guy that played the monk. His name is Ursineo Sonny
true dad.
Speaker 4 (40:46):
So funny, really funny. I loved that so much. You're
not mine a lifetime. I didn't talk you years. I
do love the concept that people kind of just hate great. Yes,
(41:06):
people really love him or they just hate him so much.
Speaker 6 (41:09):
There's probably a lot of animal droppings around him with
all those animals, you know, yeah, animals.
Speaker 4 (41:16):
Yep, for sure. What did you what did you pick?
Speaker 1 (41:19):
Bukes?
Speaker 4 (41:20):
I really liked at a walle can you wait? A
bunch of stuffs just rewatching Lost Street.
Speaker 6 (41:30):
So good in that too, but I kind of didn't
realize because he was in thor Dark World too.
Speaker 4 (41:37):
Well, he got I think Congo he was in Back
in the Day.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
Which he was like the crock guy in the suicide.
Speaker 5 (41:46):
Yes, yes he was, because I think we should be
about that later.
Speaker 4 (41:50):
That's a good call.
Speaker 5 (41:51):
But yeah, I think he's really have a ton to
do in this.
Speaker 4 (41:55):
But he's just a good actor. He's great, he's really good.
And lost. Oh he's so good and lost Jesus.
Speaker 5 (42:03):
Yeah, but again he doesn't And you know what, I
picked Sophie also because I wanted to bring this movie
like the first has been sure at least had a
little heart, like they brought it down a few times
to yeah, have some kind of This one is just goofy,
like the hold through and I mean so his scene
with Sophie's the closest they get to I wish as.
Speaker 4 (42:26):
They're shooting spitballs of the guy. Yeah, they could have
done one little He just never comes down to earth
at all in this movie. Yeah, no, he does this.
Speaker 6 (42:38):
Uh as far as script for like these other actors,
here's the thing I can say about this movie. If
this was a one act play. Jim Carrey could pull
it off by himself and.
Speaker 4 (42:48):
It wouldn't be that, you know what I mean, Like
it might be a tiny bit weird in spots, but
if he was just like the here's the pat you know, like,
it would have been fine.
Speaker 5 (42:58):
The other people are literally there to move the plot
along around him.
Speaker 4 (43:04):
Yeah, for sure. But yeah, they did. They did the
best they could with what they had, for sure.
Speaker 1 (43:11):
I mean, well, let's move on. Let's go to our
favorite scene, and let's choose the dingus.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
Is quite simple, really ingus dingus.
Speaker 4 (43:22):
I can talk about my dingas all night long. Benny,
you want to go first? Gad you go? We all
know what.
Speaker 5 (43:31):
This isn't We've been so good, Fine, we waited this
whole time, audience. This is what we came here to
talk about. The greatest physical comedy scene that's ever happened ever.
Speaker 4 (43:43):
All those all those kind of break down what I
kind of saw with it. It's it's just such a
brilliantly written comedic scene where he's in the rhino and
then the fan goes out, and then you're like, okay,
that's so fun.
Speaker 5 (43:57):
Let's just back up. He has to go steak out. Yeah,
these two guys having a meeting, and he gets a
life size robotic rhinoceros, which we're not going to explain
in any way from the inside, like.
Speaker 4 (44:11):
We also if there's a rhino, ten be concerned, right,
not me. I'm gonna have my my, my secret meeting, right,
But that but that he drops, he drops the probably
the best line in the movie, kind of hot in
(44:31):
these rhinos, which which is which is a phrase that
we use in life. Oh my god, so much. And
then they just like job of showing how hot it is.
They show the sun, they show the wide shot of
the heat coming off, and then it cuts to him
(44:51):
just telling off his wet.
Speaker 5 (44:55):
Dripping sound effect.
Speaker 4 (44:57):
The really hits home me personally, and that's all right
then just along the blah blah, and then the door
goes kick out the family. Also just the conceit of
getting him naked for the bit and the family pulling.
Speaker 5 (45:14):
Up and he's got to pull the pull the line
so he's covered in goo as well.
Speaker 4 (45:19):
Yeah, well, I also just love he's so hot, he's
trying to get and you just see that beam of
light light so great. But again then it's just it's
going back to what we're saying it's just his commitment
to the bid is just him trying to get out
of that rhino.
Speaker 5 (45:41):
And he starts in like everything he does, he starts
with the finger, the finger goes all the way around,
gets the handout.
Speaker 4 (45:49):
Then he then he gets the farm out and then
goes says that back in. Then he does starts with
the face, and that plastic they used is so perfect.
The bottom of his mouth is so like when he's just.
Speaker 5 (46:03):
Like, so, I'm an actor, so I've been on set
a lot, and me and Renegade we work in production,
so we've been on a lot of sets.
Speaker 4 (46:12):
So we often when we're watching, we're like, God, what
was this day on set like?
Speaker 5 (46:18):
And I'm sure there's many days on set with Jim
Carrey where you're just like, oh my god, this is nuts.
But that's one of those days where I'm just like,
I cannot imagine everyone standing at the monitor watching these
takes go on and just being like, this is back crazy.
He just to die place the back panel with the
(46:39):
butt so that it's like back to normal, and then
he can do the kid doing this for like six hours.
Speaker 4 (46:45):
What's happening?
Speaker 5 (46:46):
I mean, I would love to know how long they
how many? I'm sure they were just like just go, like,
we'll just stay and him falling out naked is unbelieve
I distinctly remember being in the theater and it was
the hardest. It's still top five hardest I've ever laughed for.
(47:12):
The second I saw the rhino on this rewatch, I
was like what, I just started giggling, and it's you
don't even need to watch the movie. No, you just
put that on and you're good. Like sometimes now I've
seen it so many times, I don't even laugh anymore.
I'm just mind boggled by it, just like insane it is.
He's going for it, funny, it's the greatest.
Speaker 4 (47:36):
The idea that was is unbelievable. Chef kiss And.
Speaker 5 (47:42):
Again, we don't even need to we don't even need
to explain.
Speaker 4 (47:46):
Where this robotic rhino came from. Not perfect, it's absolutely perfect.
You know.
Speaker 5 (47:53):
Some producer was like, wait, so where did the robotic
rhino come from? And he's like, don't worry about it,
it doesn't matter. Get it to get a coffee, broe,
How does he pay for the rhino?
Speaker 4 (48:03):
Get out of your sleeve, Get out of here.
Speaker 5 (48:06):
I told you to go, get a coffee. Damn, you're
not here to ask questions. Man, we're making that's really great.
Speaker 4 (48:15):
So yeah, that's all of our that's for sure, the dingus.
But let's let's do some runner ups. I mean, Bumblebee
Tuna is that's wonderful.
Speaker 5 (48:25):
Also inappropriate, but that's so funny, you know, him rolling
in Also, I remember, I mean, bumblebe Tuna, your balls
are showing is wonderful. But I remember in the trailers
I found about this forever there was a what's his
name says the line He's like, they did not know
about disease until the white Man. He goes, yeah, I
(48:47):
am fighting something. But it must have gotten cut from
the movie because I remember.
Speaker 4 (48:52):
It being like a trailer thing. That's hilarious. The fight
scene with the spears the absolutely so good. It's in
the bone, the bone.
Speaker 1 (49:13):
He gets pulled by the mouth, just unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (49:21):
Also Tommy Davidson, some serious physical comedy.
Speaker 4 (49:25):
Going on there too. It was so funny, really funny.
That was my runner up scene.
Speaker 5 (49:30):
I loved, like the even the projection scene, him coming
up with the projection.
Speaker 4 (49:37):
Hi ho sl this is great. When the dude's just
yelling at this is serious and then just the hands
come up. You just can't resist.
Speaker 5 (49:50):
Also, the party scene with the Monopoly guy and using
using a human person for a comedy is pretty unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (49:59):
Which again is also a call back. It's just putting
ace in a fancy oh yeah, which is funny. Yeah.
If I've been drinking out of the toilet, I might
have been killed. Killed. He's a tough hang. Well again,
(50:20):
you either really are his friend or you married him.
Did he do that?
Speaker 5 (50:25):
Do I have something in my teeth In the first
one too, I think he did well. I don't think
he says it, but he does the thing.
Speaker 4 (50:31):
With the to the guy. Yeah, yeah, because that that
was pretty good. Actually, you know what I'll say, Well,
the opening scene of this movie, that was what the
opening scene of Cliff Hanger. I watched probably much too young,
because when did that come I watched? Yeah, yeah, it
(50:54):
was probably earlier when I saw.
Speaker 5 (50:59):
Okay, so I was ten and that opening messed me up? Yo,
had I had already seen Cliffhanger when this came out
and I was They.
Speaker 1 (51:09):
Had the Cliffhanger video game. I played that. It was Yeah,
I loved Cliffhanger talking.
Speaker 4 (51:17):
About me to.
Speaker 5 (51:20):
Cliffhanger was was traumatic for me. I loved Cliff, so
them spoofing it was pretty pretty.
Speaker 4 (51:29):
That was pretty good. Clift gown man, he can do anything.
Speaker 1 (51:33):
I was also going to say just the temple. We
talked a little bit about it because he was my
my dude, but just being up there. I loved all
the temple scene stuff. And then as he's leaving there,
just throwing a big.
Speaker 4 (51:46):
Party with the slinky.
Speaker 5 (51:53):
Is amazing.
Speaker 4 (51:54):
Go Slinky go. Yeah. I just love the ends, Like,
what do you think one more time? One more time? Yep,
that's great.
Speaker 1 (52:06):
That was That was all the ones I wrote down.
Did you have any more mukes?
Speaker 4 (52:09):
I wrote one more down, and it's when he gets
like the darts from the other tribe. His arms are
hanging and he's doing the physical comedy of running through
and stuff. That's so funny.
Speaker 5 (52:20):
Like he's just and he is perfectly made for that.
Speaker 4 (52:23):
Scene, right, Like that is so perfect for him. I
actually also love the I love the cave him by
himself and the cave. Yes a good one, good call. Yeah,
as long as I have my torch.
Speaker 5 (52:38):
Yeah, wi spawn of Satan.
Speaker 4 (52:43):
Oh No, I'm fine, I'm fine. Then runs out, Yeah,
that's great.
Speaker 5 (52:50):
Those were all the ones I wrote down.
Speaker 4 (52:52):
I'm picking. I'm not gonna lie. Obviously I did have
some as a what was I were we twelve?
Speaker 5 (52:59):
I did have some some feelings when Sophie was doing
the dance and oh sure, yeah at that age. And
and then when she's doing kind of the tongue touching,
Oh that was so silly. They touch tongues.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
I have no more appetites for the and she's dancing,
it's like, do you have a dollar?
Speaker 5 (53:24):
Certainly, probably many times in my growing up life where
I said I.
Speaker 4 (53:27):
Was just practicing my mantra. Oh my god, you guys
were saying so many of the quotes. I'm sorry, touchdown,
call here. I think I think we should now move
to best quote, show.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
Me the money, Show me the money, show me, because we.
Speaker 4 (53:50):
Used quite a few kind of hot in these rhinos.
Speaker 5 (53:56):
Actually I'll leave this one off because it has a
just a quick story. Well, my uh, we have a
lake place. My family has a lake place in Wisconsin.
Robbie's been there, and uh, it's on this big lake
and there's a bunch of like kind of resorts I
(54:16):
guess you could say, or whatever, like like resorts you'd
see in like dirty dancing, like from like the fifties
and CCS kind of places, and you know it's Wisconsin,
so they all have a lot of stuffed dead animals.
There's this one place where we would go and me
and my sister Rachel. Every time we'd go in there,
(54:37):
I'd go, hmm, this is a lovely room of death.
Every time, take care. I think it every time I
see something on the every time. So good because like
there's there's one that's just like fifty animals in there.
Speaker 1 (54:52):
I'm like, we we did a we did a gig
at the owner of Kabell his house in Nebraska. He
owns like an entire city block in Nebraska, and it's
this this giant mansion, but it's all it's got to
be animals. It's all dead animals in the house. But
(55:13):
I said that roughly thirty times.
Speaker 4 (55:16):
Where was it.
Speaker 1 (55:17):
It was in Nebraska, like a little town in Nebraska.
I can't remember which one, but yeah, they put on
this huge party and yeah it was wild.
Speaker 4 (55:28):
There's just so many animals that's like half those stars too,
So that makes sense that he it was great, that's cool.
This is a lovely room of death. I have a
couple of just kind of a little more scure ones,
but they involved a translator who's what played by Maynard. Yeah,
(55:49):
he was good. I did like him. I did want
to like But this couple where he gets he gets ace,
gets taken by the other tribe and the translations they
found me. No problem is don't beat yourself up. There's
another one where they're like walking together after they leave
(56:10):
and he says they didn't take chikaka. He just goes
and bowls and he goes out of shot. That comes
back up, Hi, welcome back.
Speaker 5 (56:22):
Yes, I've always loved my aren't I the popular one?
The spitting, the spinning scene.
Speaker 1 (56:31):
Actually, oh god, is the mucus that binds us?
Speaker 5 (56:38):
Whatever production used on their faces when they.
Speaker 4 (56:44):
So gross? What's it?
Speaker 5 (56:45):
Always a spitting scene? That's what I want to know.
Speaker 4 (56:48):
But anyway, Wow, it was a biscus, That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (56:53):
Oh he was practicing his mantra when he's saying, oh Mama,
oh mama.
Speaker 4 (57:03):
That one hits home. I love that.
Speaker 1 (57:08):
If I don't practice there, if I don't finish my meditation.
Speaker 5 (57:15):
Was it was eleven or I was twelve when this
movie came out. A lot of Junior High six days.
Oh god, I'm chafing, chap. They came out was a
flag that said bang on it, bom, get out of here.
They're showing the show.
Speaker 2 (57:34):
Shut him, my mom, get me alone.
Speaker 4 (57:37):
Oh, Robbie remembers too. I had an illegal cable black
box on my to You sure did.
Speaker 5 (57:44):
We could get a lot of Spice, a lot of
free boxing matches, if you know what I'm saying. Oh
my god, a lot of free pay per views. You
know what I'm getting that there? Oh yeah, that's great.
Speaker 4 (57:59):
Man.
Speaker 1 (57:59):
I had to get really creative with mine because it
was the you know, the fuzzy Oh that's nice.
Speaker 4 (58:06):
I couldn't.
Speaker 1 (58:08):
Some imagination. Yeah, exactly, a butt or maybe yeah, elbow.
At least we got the series catalog.
Speaker 4 (58:16):
That's all I needed. That was great. Set analogue. Penny
was way better, bro. I really love Greenwall. Hit the light,
the switch on the wall beside you go for it.
It's so quick. Hit already then jail.
Speaker 1 (58:36):
Yeah he doesn't like I forgot about that part and
it was so funny, dude.
Speaker 4 (58:42):
I love I love a no response whenever I'm acting.
I love to love like a like a non like
a like a no response. High five, unreciprocated high five? Okay.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Any one thing that I can remember you saying a
lot and I did not know it was from this
was Nobody Wants to Play? Well, yeah, I still I
did not know that was from this movie when he's
in the monster truck. I did not know that until this.
Speaker 5 (59:17):
That's also such a crap, like that's one of those
improvs of him, Like where did that even come from? That?
Speaker 4 (59:23):
I feel like that's a reference. It feels like maybe
like of mice and men kind of thing or something.
You looked this up so idiots, but that I always
thought of Benny and when he I was just like,
I had no idea. I still say that my joke.
You know, I only have like six jokes, So yeah, same,
(59:45):
I keep going. Had a I guana bulls, collect the
whole set.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
Three dirt.
Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
How selfish of me.
Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
Let's do all the things that you.
Speaker 4 (01:00:03):
Want to do.
Speaker 5 (01:00:04):
I still say that too, everything you want to do.
Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
I definitely say poopy pants, and that is from nonsense
poopy pants.
Speaker 5 (01:00:14):
Poopy pants. Stephanie laughs a lot. She also cries in
the bathroom.
Speaker 4 (01:00:18):
A lot, so who knows.
Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
So we said, excuse me, your balls are showing that
this is way up there for one of my fathers early.
Speaker 5 (01:00:28):
I mean, bumblebee tuna is is incredible.
Speaker 1 (01:00:31):
Also, yes, what else did we have?
Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
We've hit a lot of these. Uh oh, sorry, you're
going no go for it. I just have a few.
Speaker 5 (01:00:47):
The when he's on the plane penis, He's like, yes,
right here, it's bulky, but I consider it carry carry
so good. I don't think I got that when I
was a kid. I don't think it's pretty weird now,
but I'm.
Speaker 4 (01:01:01):
Like, I liked a lot.
Speaker 6 (01:01:03):
I'm probably gonna say it on a lot of flights now,
which is sad for everyone.
Speaker 4 (01:01:07):
That's make sure someone's filming. Yeah, and uh, like a
clove happens a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:01:14):
That's what you slipped in.
Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
That's what's on her shoe, and that explains the obrigin
on your palm. Damn, I'm good. Love. I love when
he just lets it rip. It's the best. Yeah. Yeah,
the reverse so stupid.
Speaker 5 (01:01:37):
I also loved the and you must be the monopoly guy,
thanks for the free parking.
Speaker 4 (01:01:42):
Yeah, repent and thou shall be saved, which I do
know that reference. I'm pretty sure that's right. Yeah, that
makes sense.
Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
Spank you helpy helper to is a fun one.
Speaker 4 (01:02:01):
Yeah help, oh, absolutely yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:02:07):
I say this to Gate all the time. Yes, a workaholic.
The urine stand on your pants would signify that you're
a single shake man. Far too busy for the follow
up jingle, because, as everyone knows, you shake it more
than twice, you're playing with it.
Speaker 4 (01:02:19):
Yeah, yeah, that's true. That's true. Friends, Rodents quadrupeds lending me.
Oh he is really great.
Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
But I love that just when they're he's trying to say, like,
who aces in the temple, it's like, we're all children
of the same life for us, Yes, of course we are.
He bends over and speaks from his rear.
Speaker 4 (01:02:51):
Oh him right this way. He's just like, oh, he's
so mad. Also, one of the first lines of the
movie is really about the.
Speaker 5 (01:03:01):
Well, if I were you, then you'd be me, and
I'd use your body to get to the top.
Speaker 4 (01:03:06):
Yeah. That was really fun. Mm hmmm. Oh. You know
what else I still do is sleep sleep. Yeah, I
still do that. That's a good call. And I know
we already said it, but it's in the bone, the bone.
(01:03:27):
I love it. That was all the ones I had
written down. I think Oh yeah, I mean that's I
feel like we've done more quotable than the first one. Yeah,
I would agree, just what one liner? Yeah, totally agree.
What did he just say?
Speaker 1 (01:03:45):
I think he said she's not a virgin.
Speaker 4 (01:03:47):
They can tell that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:50):
That's good. That's a good last line. Well, then let's
let's move on. Let's go to the crying game. Well zero,
we've are the.
Speaker 4 (01:04:02):
Movie. I have nothing on my sheet. I know there's
not any. I don't even try. No, they sure didn't.
Oh that was an easy one. Did you have one
in the first moment? I don't remember. I guess we
could always go back, but I bet I have it, Melissa,
I mean moment, sure, going scanning, looking loving. We know
(01:04:31):
he had seven during face off. That's trying the whole time.
Speaker 5 (01:04:35):
I had the first one as well. It's all right,
let's not forget that you had seven during face off,
which is and like unbelievable sixty during Lord of the Rings.
Speaker 4 (01:04:47):
So who knows? Well, sure, so many? This was some
trivia bro movie trivia. When driving to the consulate for
the first time.
Speaker 5 (01:04:56):
Jim Carrey forgot his lines, so instead he started singing
the theme from the movie Chitty Chitty bang bang, so good.
Both actors stayed in character, and the director loved it,
so they kept it in. And I just think that's hysterical,
so good, and he's so committed to it.
Speaker 4 (01:05:13):
It's so funny.
Speaker 6 (01:05:14):
Man doesn't make any sense, but that's why it was
made up. According to Simon Callo, Jim Carrey didn't really
want to make the film apparently, which made the onset
experiences awkward, which I thought was interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:05:28):
That's crazy that he can commit to the bit so
hard and not even want to make it.
Speaker 4 (01:05:32):
Seriously, Well, that makes it even more I'm assuming that
when his.
Speaker 5 (01:05:37):
Check with nine zeros game, yeah you know heard six
zeros and a big number, because I mean, I'm.
Speaker 4 (01:05:47):
Sure viewers will get to it. Yeah cool fifteen fifteen bro.
But still then like with your heart's on in it,
like yeah, that's just crazy in it. But you know
he was, he was shot. He had just gotten there too.
It's not you know. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:06:02):
If it had been like like we said earlier, if
it had been like five years later, I'm sure he
would have been like, well, no, I'm right. But I
think the fact that they did it so fast, yeah,
was in their favor, and I'm sure the studio was
like go. He was paid fifteen million to reprise the part,
(01:06:23):
exactly half of the thirty million dollar.
Speaker 4 (01:06:25):
Budget for the whole I was just going to ask
what the budget was. Yep, thirty mail.
Speaker 5 (01:06:28):
So he made half of that.
Speaker 4 (01:06:31):
And it was actually the film's writer and Carrie's friend,
Steve Odaker said, I think so who suggested he negotiate
with Morgan Creek Productions for this, and then conveniently he
himself became the director who then finalized the decision. Which
seems weird, but all right.
Speaker 5 (01:06:49):
I actually appreciate you bringing this up because I wanted
to just quick hit on Morgan Creek Entertainment.
Speaker 4 (01:06:56):
Oh, this production company. There's these little production companies that
popped up in the eighties and nineties who would do
these crazy things.
Speaker 5 (01:07:02):
Morgan Creek Entertainment just in the nineties, this is what
they ripped off Young Guns one in two, Well sorry, okay,
late eighties through the nineties, Young Guns one in two,
Major League True Romance, Ace Ventura one and two, Robin Hood,
Prince of Thieves, Last of the Mohicans, Pacific Heights, Whole
(01:07:23):
nine Yards Wow is a kick ass ten years of
Holy Cow.
Speaker 4 (01:07:30):
Like for like a like a like.
Speaker 5 (01:07:34):
I think they still exist, but they only have like
a handful of things in the next like twenty years
after that. But wow, that is an unbelievable list of
things to have made in a ten year span. Also
the fact that they use the Robin Hood Prince of
Thieves music in their production company. Thing that comes up.
Speaker 4 (01:07:56):
So sick.
Speaker 5 (01:07:57):
I love it because I love that music. But that's
perfect to shout out Morgan Creek Entertainment run, this is
pretty well. Jim Carrey spent a lot of time off sick,
probably because he didn't really want to do the movie, apparently,
which affected the contract of actor Simon Callo. CALO's contract
(01:08:18):
had actually expired before he could finish filming his scenes.
Despite this, he wasn't paid overtime, as Carrie's illness was
regarded as an act of god quote unquote.
Speaker 6 (01:08:29):
Union stuff there. Hopefully that's been fixed, I think taking
cure of that now. Yeah, Carrie has said since that
that seems unfair. But because Calo already had other commitments
in London, the producers suggested he flew back regularly in
first class, as the contract had stated. It wasn't until later, though,
that he found out that the producers were deducting the
(01:08:51):
cost of his plane tickets from his overall salary, and
in his words, he finished finished up working for almost nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:08:59):
And I think that sucks. So just a yeah, seriously, seriously.
Speaker 5 (01:09:09):
According to Jeff Daniels, Jim Carrey had explained to him
the reasons why he didn't like the sequel much. Always
said this earlier. He disliked the Aces Afraid of Bats angle,
as he found it to be cheap, and even fought
the director about changing the script. He did have an
interesting idea. He wanted it to be that Ace was
allergic to bats, which could have been kind of funny.
(01:09:29):
Carrie was also nervous about the film's depiction of the
native characters.
Speaker 4 (01:09:33):
He was right, and that people might take offense to them,
he said. He has said since he's even surprised the
film has not been outright banded. I don't think it's that.
It's just it's a bad look, but it's because it's
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:09:47):
But compared to some things, I'm like, yeah, right, I would,
I would, I would argue him his horrified response to
possibly kissing a man in the first one. It was
a little person yes, I mean, at least they have
people of color, you know. Yeah, I mean, I just
like I understand what he's saying. But I'm like, I
(01:10:09):
would argue the first movies slightly more problematic. It's not
Birth of a Nation or something. I mean, let's all
call me, you know, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:10:18):
Up until Dumb and Dumber two in twenty fourteen, this
was the only sequel to a Jim Carrey film that
actually featured Carrie. Likewise, none of the actors from the
first film except Carrie returned for the sequel, which is
kind of interesting.
Speaker 4 (01:10:32):
I know, they offered him a ton of money to
mask too, and which is probably very smart, probably good.
Speaker 1 (01:10:40):
I want a Dumb and Dumber two to be so
good and it's so.
Speaker 4 (01:10:45):
It's not it was bad. That was so many when
that was twenty five years later. Yeah, crazy, Do you.
Speaker 5 (01:10:55):
Think do you think this movie was like would have
been better if they would have kept him in my
like another like Miami case or something.
Speaker 4 (01:11:04):
I don't know. I liked that they tried to like
go way outside the realm. I guess yeah. I think
you can kind of just let him cook and do
whatever he needs to do, Like you're here.
Speaker 5 (01:11:15):
Could it could have just been anything. We're here for him,
not for you know, I were just riding the Jim
Carrey train for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
For sure. Director Tom de Cherchio left after the shoot began.
After the shooting began, Jim Carrey, who had director's approval
on the project, had him replaced by the film's writer
and his best friend, Steve Odakerk. As we said, who
had also co written his previous movie, even though he'd
never directed a feature film before, which is pretty wild.
(01:11:47):
Character said that they had many creative similarities, including improvising
and changing scenes during filming and things, and that Odakirk
had a good understanding of the main character. So that's
what I think.
Speaker 5 (01:12:00):
He just did his buddy solid kind of but you
know whatever that also tracked because I do feel like
this movie could have been way better.
Speaker 4 (01:12:08):
Yeah, like he needed a steering hand maybe to just
be like, I feel like the idea behind this movie
is not horrible, right, but it's just like we abandoned
care about it. No, you know, like they make a
big deal about the dolphin in the first one, and
it's the Miami like it's a big high profile thing,
(01:12:29):
which is fun and interesting.
Speaker 5 (01:12:32):
This one yeah, they don't. I feel like they abandoned
the plot just to let Carrie have more time to be.
Speaker 4 (01:12:39):
A crazy Personally, he actually has like relationships, he has
a people correct right, and he has at least a
few human moments. Yeah. Yeah, As we.
Speaker 6 (01:12:51):
Said earlier, two people that played Batman villains are in
this movie, Jim Carrey and Atta Walleh. I can't remember
how does say his full name? I wrote it down
earlier anyway, echo from Lost.
Speaker 4 (01:13:06):
The Batman villain.
Speaker 5 (01:13:08):
Yeah, Carrie played the Riddler and Batman, and then as
Rob said, Killer Crock the Suicide Squad, which you know, he's.
Speaker 4 (01:13:18):
Not against Batman in that movie, but he is in
the Cannon I guess correct. Well.
Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
And also this came out the same year as Batman Forever, right,
So oh yeah, nineteen ninety five was the year of
the bat for Jim Carrey.
Speaker 4 (01:13:34):
Wow. I never even put that together.
Speaker 5 (01:13:36):
That's awesome.
Speaker 4 (01:13:37):
That's awesome. I love it. That's hilarious.
Speaker 5 (01:13:42):
I also never got this. The native's name for the
Great White Bat, Chikaka, is just a combination of the
words in coca and Guanda. Plays a large a large
role in the in the plot of this film, so
I don't know if that's a stretch, but it was
in there, and I thought it was silly.
Speaker 4 (01:13:59):
An you have the guano based in reality, it's guano
good for anything?
Speaker 3 (01:14:03):
Is that?
Speaker 4 (01:14:03):
Is that all just we can use guana to actually
a million dollar industry? I don't think it's that. Like.
Speaker 5 (01:14:11):
I'm like, if you're going to do this, you're not
going to do like Ivory or something like, at least
make it like kind of real.
Speaker 4 (01:14:17):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:14:18):
Want No, it's a highly effective fertilizer.
Speaker 4 (01:14:21):
So that part was true.
Speaker 5 (01:14:22):
Okay, it's more than just animal waste, says virgin Virginia
Batspros dot com. I almost said, Virgin bats Pros. They're
probably virgins. I mean, you know what, that's your business.
They stop talking about. Oh no, these are just things
(01:14:43):
that were already saved. What should I look it up?
I own Virgin bat Bros.
Speaker 4 (01:14:49):
Okay, there it is. We finally were able to plug it.
Speaker 5 (01:14:57):
Nonprofits, three works.
Speaker 4 (01:15:00):
You just want to get it out there, Just get
it out there. Everyone here. I'm going to go fund me.
And that was all the trivia I had, Rob, did
you have any trivia just that?
Speaker 1 (01:15:11):
Apparently Spike Jones expressed interest in taking over before it
was handed over to Steve Odekirk.
Speaker 4 (01:15:18):
Amazing. Carrie regrets that, he said, it's it's one of
his biggest regrets networks. This is what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:15:24):
I'm like, after the first one, I'm so someone didn't
step up like that is funny, and someone didn't come
up with like a pretty good idea, because again, the
first one was such a fluke, and I feel like
if someone would have put some time in the second one,
they probably could have came up with something pretty fun.
Speaker 4 (01:15:46):
I mean, Animal Animal.
Speaker 5 (01:15:47):
Gave us activists are it's a pretty big thing. I
feel like you come up with a lot of stories
that's funny.
Speaker 4 (01:15:53):

locations and it it just kind of seemed like they
did South Carolina and Texas where it's kind of the
certain they didn't go to Africa. That's amazing. So we've
bet a lot of money that didn't shoot in Africa. Yeah, Yeah,
it seems like a lot of South Carolina and Texas.
Speaker 5 (01:16:24):

(01:18:45):
person can steal if you get any of those names wrong.
All these films have something in common. When you know
the theme, you can ring it at any time for
a point. I would be surprised if you get the theme.

that because even when you do get the theme, I
doubt it'll help that much.
