Emotional intelligence is a skill that is so important to everyone, including those in leadership. My guest this week is Teresa Quinlan. She has over two decades of experience in learning and development, and she has spent the last 15 years training leaders and their teams, giving particular attention to the area of emotional intelligence. On this episode, she helps us understand why we need to develop that area of our lives and how to go about doing it.
In a very simple way of putting it, emotional intelligence is growing your capacity to understand your emotions and use that information to be more effective. And in this episode, we discuss the fact that emotional intelligence is a skill that can be developed. There are strategies you can use to identify your triggers and manage how you handle them.
It can be hard to pay attention to yourself when sources of stress are coming at you. However, especially as leaders, it is important to be self-aware so you that you can manage your responses as you handle not only your situations but those of others you manage as well. We will discuss ways to become more self-aware so that you can always bring your best to your life - whether that is your personal life or your life at your business.
Until next time, lead well!
