Speaker 1 (00:15):
Breaking news, and today the Lego Group is doing something
very movie magnificent, specific, wonderful and great because I gotta
tell you, Goonies never say die. So that's exactly what
we're talking about today, the new Goonies Lego set that
is coming your way very very very very very very soon.

(00:37):
You gotta make sure you pinch those pennies because you're
gonna need them for this one. So let's go ahead
and not waste a second and jump right into the
press release. Hey, you guys, we all know that quote, right,
that movie line. The Lego Group, in partnership with Warner
Brothers Discovery Global Consumer Products, today unveils the Lego Ideas
the Goony Set, a two thousand, nine hundred and twelve

(01:00):
piece diorama model that invites adult fans to relive the
ultimate underground treasure hunt in brick form. To celebrate the launch,
the Lego Group has partnered with Oscar winning actor Ka
Hoy Kwan probably butchered that for a nostalgic mini film
tribute to the beloved nineteen eighties classic, revisiting his role

(01:23):
as as is a data. I think it was data
in there is how they said his name. The Gadget
mastermind Kwan guides viewers through the sets, booby traps and
showcases hidden easter eggs, sharing personal memories from his iconic
performance along the way. Fans can watch the film or

(01:43):
the minifilm and step back into the adventure and you,
guys can follow the link and it'll take you right
to it. This collectible set features brick built recreations of
memorable scenes from the Fertelli's Hideaway and caves too one
Uneyed Willie's legendary treasure room. You can even flip the

(02:04):
model to reveal the haunting wreckage of the Inferno Pirate Ship.
Twelve key characters are representative as minifigures, including Mikey Mouth, Chunk, Andy,
and of course Data. Brand new elements were designed for
Sloth's pirate hat and bandana and Mama Fortelly's hair and beret.
Builders can drop boulders and activate trapdoors with the Copper

(02:27):
Bones Skeleton key and play the Skeleton organ, which is
one of my favorite scenes in that entire movie. Just
be careful not to hit the wrong note. This set
is packed with nostalgic details for the Goonies fans, with
props including data's utility belt and mouth's hairbrush. There is
even a nod to the legendary deleted octopus scene, plus

(02:50):
sloths daring mass slide into the Inferno's deck. The Lego
Ideas the Goony Set was submitted by Grease based three
D artist and fan designer I'm gonna We're gonna go
with this. The gellis ntzes. Oh my goodness, I just

(03:11):
I just can't do that anyway. His Lego Ideas name
is Delusion Brick. Let's go with Delusion Brick. As part
of the Lego Ideas program. Lego Ideas the Goony Set
will be available for Lego insiders early access starting November
first at lego dot com Forward Slash the Goonies. You
guys can find that link down in the show notes
and in Lego stores, with availability for all on November fourth.

(03:37):
The price of this baby is two hundred and seventy
British pounds, three hundred euros and three hundred and ten
bucker rooneyes here in the United States. Additionally, shoppers who
purchased the set two one, three, six y three between
the first and the seventh of November will receive Lego

(03:57):
Ideas the Goonies the Walsh Addict as a GWP a
gift with purchase available while supplies last, So you need
to make sure you get in there. I have a
feeling that's going to go pretty quick. Fans can personalize
their Treasure Hunting Crew at the Lego Minifigure Factory and
Lego stores with exclusive The Goonies themed torso's available for

(04:18):
a limited time. So what does the set have to offer?
You've got to ask, right, there's got to be something.
There's got to be something. There's got to be something. Well,
there is one hundred percent something a little bit for everybody.
What I'm really impressed with is the idea behind this
being while it is a model, you have a bunch

(04:40):
of different opportunities to be able to just kind of
experience the greatness of this because again it is it
is the ship from the movie, but it's it's so
much more than that. It's the ship from the movie,
it's also a display. You're not gonna say all this,

(05:02):
but all of the little details that go into this,
you need to watch the video. The video is actually
really really good on explaining to you all of the
little details that go into this. You know, all the
iconic scenes from the movie. You're essentially getting a vignette
for the major scenes from the film. And now the

(05:22):
ship looks wicked on the outside, on the front side
of it, and then on the backside you have your
underground cave, your adventure, and all of that kind of stuff.
I remember when I was a kid and I watched
this movie. I was scared to death of Sloth. It
was his eyes in there and the yelling that he
did and stuff like that. I just scared a crap

(05:44):
out of me, you know, it just I don't know
what specifically it was. I'm assuming that was probably the
main reason, but scared of Jesus out of me. But
here's one thing that I do love twelve minifigs. They
really went above and beyond with twelve minifigs. How can
you not appreciate that? How can you not appreciate that

(06:05):
you get some really iconic figures in here as well,
Sloth the Mama for Telly especially. You know, of course
everybody knows Chunk for Telly Brothers, but you know, having
data that's in here and his silly inventions that come
with him, I mean, that's just awesome. It's super awesome.

(06:29):
So if you're getting trying to get a rough idea
of the size of this thing, we're talking about twenty
five inches in length of this thing and about just
over a foot at fourteen inches tall for this lovely thing.
But you know, you've got rock boulders that can drop,
as we had mentioned in the press release, We've got
gold that is coming out. There's a knob in here

(06:51):
so that you can turn to get things to drop.
I mean, there's just there's endless little details that come
into play that give you that you know, give you
that sense of enjoyment and play. And I don't know
how many people are really going to be playing with
us as much as they're going to be purchasing it

(07:12):
to display, but my goodness, I mean there's just a
lot here. The skeleton organ I think is really sharp
in the way that it is done. How you have
the ground that kind of falls away just like it
did in the film. I think that's huge. I think
that is you have to have something like that when
you are when you're trying to make a movie realistic

(07:36):
as close as you can to the original in lego form,
you have to you just have to get it as
best as you can. So this was one of those things,
and we never talked about it on the show, but
this is one of those things. When this project came
up for being voted on, when it made ten thousand

(07:58):
votes to get looked at, I wanted this so bad.
I wanted this to be successful. I wanted it to
become a set. And it's finally here. Now, it's here
right before the holiday season, which you know, they're they're
slamming some things in here before the end of the year.
We've already we've already seen a few that are coming
and they're not going to be cheap. But my goodness,

(08:21):
how wonderful of a set are you getting here? Just
some iconic things. And I'm looking at the prints on
the minifigs and all the minifig stuff. I mean, they
just they look like their characters. Now the kids, I
think maybe they could have done. I don't know, there's
something about the kids' faces that just seems to be missing.

(08:44):
But they're young like Mama for Telly, you know, with
her evil smile and all her wrinkles and stuff like that,
and her hair with her beret that of course we
know what that looks like. And some of the other
characters as well, but the little boys, you know, all
four of them with the little short legs they've got here. Yeah,
I get what they're going at. I think I think

(09:04):
data probably looks the best. With the hair chunk isn't
too bad. The printing they did a really good job.
But I don't know. As a whole though, I think
it turns It looks like it's gonna turn out really well.
Without a doubt. I think this is gonna do gangbusters.
I think people are gonna absolutely love this thing, and
they're gonna love playing this thing. You know, and you

(09:26):
got one eyed Willie that's in here. I mean, come on,
you're you're literally getting everything that you could possibly well,
I say everything you could possibly want. I'm pretty sure
you're getting everything that you could possibly want in this set.
And it's when you actually get to it and start
playing with it, you're gonna be like, oh, oh my gosh,
can you believe this? Oh my god, look at this.

(09:47):
Check this out. It's just it's really cool. So, uh,
check the show notes down below so that you guys
can find the video to go and see all of
the little intricate details and stuff like that. This will
splash you to the landing page on Lego's website, so
you can go ahead, click that, follow that link and

(10:08):
check it out, and you know, pick yours up. We're
only we're only a matter of days out before you
can add yours to your collection. And at three hundred bucks,
I think that is I think it's okay. I mean
we're just under three thousand pieces, three hundred and ten bucks, Okay,
I get it, I see it. I think it works.

(10:29):
So that's going to wrap up this segment of breaking news.
I'll talk to you guys next time.
