More about Dr Julian Huppert:

Dr Julian Huppert is Founding Director of the Intellectual Forum at Jesus College, Cambridge, an interdisciplinary centre focused on bringing people to think and talk about some of the key issues of our time. After an academic career in Cambridge in genomics and biophysics, he served as the Member of Parliament for Cambridge 2010-15, and was particularly noted for his work on technology policy, civil liberties, transport policy, international development, and the environment.

He was Deputy Chair of the NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group until it was abolished, and is Chair of the Ethics Committee for NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Health Innovation East.

He was Chair of the Panel of Independent Reviewers for DeepMind Health, pioneering a new approach to oversight and governance in technology companies, and advises a range of Edtech companies. He was a member of the Home Office's Biometrics and Forensics Ethics Group, advising on issues such as facial recognition and big data, and chairing their AI Ethics Working Group. In 2003 he set up a very small award-winning but unsuccessful biotech company.
