Speaker 2 (02:08):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
You know Yester, Look, everybody's a trick. I think this
is my theory. Everybody's a treky and some regard right
for me at a very early age. But yesterday I
actually had the distinct privilege to talk to mister William
Shatner at ninety four years of age. Captain Kirk himself,
and he's about to hit the road and do a
tour to watch the Wrath of Khan in different cities
with audiences nationwide. It's incredible. And he was just talking
(02:34):
about the impact that the fans have had on him
throughout the entirety of his professional life and really on
his personal life. And I wanted to ask the three
of you, have you felt that impact that Star Trek
has on the fans first hand? And if so, could
you share an anecdote perhaps? Oh?
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Absolutely, I think you said it best. Everyone is a Treky,
do you know, like they did a thing recently where
they were just like even people who don't consider themselves
Trekies when you ask them questions like Star Trek is
so much a part of our culture that you know,
people know things about Trek that they didn't even realize
they knew. And as actors who are in the franchise now,
when we travel the world for conventions, what I find
(03:12):
so wonderful is that anywhere you go any country, like
we're all dealing with a lot right now in the world,
and you meet people who you've never met before and
you don't necessarily share the same language, and yet with
Star Trek we all find common ground, and so for
me it has been very cathartic and comforting and just
a really wonderful space to be in as an actor,
(03:34):
as a storyteller, to know that wherever we go in
this world, we have family, if you will, and that
is the Star Trek family. And just so much of
what we've done in the last several years of shooting
the show, and we've seen the fan reaction to what
we do and meeting fans who have been watching since
the sixties and still find new things in what we do.
(03:55):
We're part of a very very special world and that's
what I'm taking away from today. Everyone is whether they know.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
It or not, y'all would agree, Oh for sure, absolutely.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, just to feel that impact of
the people firsthand, those conventions have to be crazy.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Yeah. I think conventions are some of my favorite part
of being able to be in the Star Trek franchise.
I come from theater, and I love stage during and
meeting fans and hearing their thoughts and at them asking
us questions that most of the time we can't really answer.
But it's really nice to know that they're curious, getting
(04:33):
to meet people and to have them look you in
the eye and say, this is how your character has
impacted me. This is the tattoo of a line that
I got from the show. I've seen so many at
asked for a per aspera tattoos and it just means
so much to be a part of work that inspires
people to take something and permanently carry that and wear
(04:59):
it with pride. It makes you. You can't deny the
impact that you have when you see it so practically
like that, and the fans are the only reason why
we get the opportunity to tell the stories that we
have for as many years as we have, and so
to hear that they are receiving it well, to see
that they are receiving it well, is a real gift.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Bab.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
You agree, absolutely absolutely are it.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Couldn't say it better.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Couldn't say bat well. It's an incredible It's an incredible
world that y'all are a part of it. I'm just
thrilled to have a couple of minutes of your time
to share with you today. Again, Congratulations to you all,
Thank you so much.
