Man, congratulations on the second season.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Thank you so much. Bred. Wait are you from Houston?
Originally born and bred? Oh man? I love that accent.
I thought it was thought.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
I thought you might have a little Louisiana in there.
That's why I thought I heard a lot of.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
The families from Louisiana. You know, my originally was going
to be boodro so no shock there.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Oh my God, that is a profound French name. Love it.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Look, man, this this show is so great. In the
second season, it seems like y'all just slide right into
it and that was gonna be My question is, does
it feel like pressure's off more in a second season
or is it like, man, we really got a top
what we did beforehand, so now there's even more pressure.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
That's a really good question.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I think that you know, when you come back to
do a second season, you just sort of, yeah, you
want to recapture the thing you did. But I also
think there's something really un self conscious about the show
in that they sort of kind of reinvented a little bit,
like because with the show like Platonic, you know, you
can really you can only kind of milk that so
far as far as my character's insecurity, so they yeah,

(02:59):
they gave my character something to do this season, which
is really nice. It's whatever the actor wants to do
more screen time. So I was delighted to get more
screen time this season.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Well, yeah, and you know what, there's a I think
it's early in the season, about halfway through the second one,
and it was early in the season. It maybe in
episode one or two. But there's a scene with you
and Rose ed and I think she has a line
about five hundred dollars headphones if we buy them, like
why didn't she use them? Or whatever the case might be.
But the chemistry of the timing between you are so
much fun, Like how much of it is the written

(03:30):
word and how much of it is like, let's play
with this a little bit.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
I mean, there's always with comedy, there's always a sense
of play. You always have to sort of stay open
to what's going to happen. Our directors, Nick Stoller and
Francesca del Banco, who are married in real life, by
the way, which is also a fascinating thing to have
on set, they let us kind of find stuff, and
they also are really really good at finding the humor

(03:53):
and very unexpected things. And because our show is really
you know, it's a slice of life, it's family life,
it's living in a busy family with three kids, there's
there's funny little things that they kind of find where
comedy exists.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Like Rose is so good just like even you know,
I think in that scene she's putting on.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Hand cream and she's doing this sort of stuff and
she's getting ready, like She's so good at that stuff,
and it's always funny with her for some reason, but
it's not always with the lines. I think for me
and her, we tend to keep pretty strict to the line.
Seth plays words a little bit more well, so.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Like in those scenes, I know so much of being
an actor, as you know, you obviously want to apply
that written word, but also knowing what your business is
in the scene, like what you're going to be doing
in it, not just delivering the lines, Like how much
of like kind of input do you think about, like
what would I be doing in bed at this moment
with my wife or what I I mean.

Speaker 4 (04:41):
That is always a funny thing about acting is yeah,
the words are on the page where you got to
find all the other stuff. And then you're really lucky,
you know, when you're on a set and you have
props people standing by and you say, I remember when
I was doing those bedroom scenes, They're like, do you
want to be taking out your watch? Do you want
to take off your ring? Or do you think your
character sleeps with his ring? And you're like, ah, I don't.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Know, oh, just like let's just see what happens. So yeah,
you just play you just see what happens d for me.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
You know, I'm about to be thirty three years of age,
and to me, for some reason, everything in this show
is things that are starting to happen to me in life.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
You know, where you go to.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
The engagement parties that you know your friends had kids,
and you're kind of exploring what these things are like
as being an actual adult as opposed to being in
your early to mid twenties.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
There's a lot of it.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Land for you as things that you are going through
in your actual life.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
So you said to me, your friends have kids, So
I'm guessing you do not have kids.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
I don't, all right, So when you have kids, everything changes.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
I've had a kid, and I had a kid between
first season and second season, and so I came to
second season with a whole new understanding about the way
your life changes and your priorities change. So yes, in fact,
I did grow a lot from first season to second
season because I understood, oh, right, your career, your life,

(06:01):
your friends, they're less important.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Now it's all about your kids. So I can relate
to that.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Well, you know what, I related to so much in
this show, and I had so much fun watching it,
So congratulations again on the second season. A pleasure speaking
to you. And just here's the season three, season thirty.
Let's keep it going.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
I like platonically, I'd be very old by season thirty,
but you know, if Grays and Atomy can do, it's
so com platonic.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Thanks Louk, I appreciate it. Take care,
