Hey Dan, I'm doing great.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
I'm doing great. Look.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
I love Star Trek. Obviously, I think everybody you know,
at some point in their life has fallen into the
lore of Star Trek. But yesterday I had the opportunity
to sit down with William Shatner himself at ninety four
years of age and he's about to hit the road
and doing a tour to talk all about his Star
Trek memories and things of that nature. It was incredible
chat to have with him, but he just talked about
(02:25):
the impact of the fan base and how much it's
meant to him and throughout the entirety of his career.
My question to the both of you is do you
feel that impact of the fans. Do you feel like
you're a part of that lore and what kind of
interactions have you had or what does that feel like?
Speaker 5 (02:40):
Yeah, I mean, I'm so so It's just I'm so YouTube.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Also, I've had a much more limited experience than j
just but you know, I've done a couple of small
conventions in the UK, and I remember like getting my
photographed with some guy who could like barely make eye
contact with me. He was so nervous and then he
was she can when we were getting the full And it's
not that we had a big conversation about how much
a mental but it was interesting how much like he
(03:04):
was having like a physical reaction that was so much
at Martum and that was really nice.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
I feel like it's there's more of that to come,
you know, oh yeah, yeah, you get ready, it's definitely coming.
My my.
Speaker 6 (03:17):
I very vividly remember the first time that I really understood,
and that was my first convention after season one in
Las Vegas, and it was the first day there of
like a three day convention, and I was just like
holding back to you is the whole day because I
was so moved by the.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
Amount of like.
Speaker 6 (03:42):
Love and excitement and like like the fans are just
they're so passionate, and it was so clear how much
this show means to people, and it's so much more
than just a TV show to people.
Speaker 5 (03:54):
It's almost like.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
Like a just like a vision, a movement, but you know,
like it it's like a belief system almost and a
really positive one, and you really feel that at the conventions.
I think it was a really important experience to have
to like it was like almost it completed the circuit
of this of the experience of acting on this show
(04:17):
is like we make it. That's a totally different situation.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Like it's so like what's the word. We're in a
protected little bubble of creation.
Speaker 6 (04:28):
You know, like we're in a studio and it's purely
creative we're making this thing together. But then when you
go and see how it's received, it's like you're like, oh,
this is why we're doing it, you know, like this
is why we're doing it, this is what it means
to people. So yeah, I think one beautiful thing about
Star Trek is that you do get to engage with
the fan base a lot through conventions, and I feel
(04:49):
like it's really grounding and really it feels like a
very important aspect of being a part of this world.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
No, absolutely, And I think that you hit the nail
on the head where when you're making the show, it's
self contained. It's in this own little unit. You're doing
your job, and you don't realize that greater impact that
people probably have gravitated to Star Trek their entire lives,
whether they're feeling happy, sad, confused, depressed, on top of
the world. It's their safe spot.
Speaker 5 (05:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (05:15):
And also, like one thing I really noticed from going
to conventions is like it's a way that it's like
intergenerational connection. Like it's like people watch it with their families.
It's a thing that they do with their kids, and
the thing that they can share, you know, Earli, and
that is so beautiful.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
What's the world of Star Trek is beautiful?
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Season three?
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Obviously, congratulations to the both of you. I really appreciate
you taking the time.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Y'all have a going
