looking forward to see you there.
Speaker 5 (04:26):
Rock the house. Baby, But uh, how does it feel?
How does it feel? You know?
Speaker 4 (04:31):
I mean the start of the meteorc rind or has
it been a meteoric rite?
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Talk to me about it.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
It's been. It's been crazy, to be honest. I mean,
going from nothing as in being injured for nine months
to now having not one but two titles and being
booked this past weekend back to back to back. It's great.
I'm honestly loving being busy. Definitely a fold you know,
(04:58):
one eighty from being and rehab every single day to
now being in front of thousands of people. And I
could not be happier.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
You know, I was.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
Wondering, you know, as far as you know, cuse to me.
You know you've only been anything but three years. Yeah,
and now you like a household name right, everywhere you go,
having you walk through the airports, your past the airport
is everybody look at it?
Speaker 5 (05:20):
Who is that? Oh? Hell, that's soul Ruka. You don't know,
how does it feel of being that girl?
Speaker 2 (05:28):
It's it's different, you know, growing up with my dad
being a musician. You know, I'm used to being stopped,
but not for myself, used to him being stopped and
then having conversations with the fans that you know, he
draws in. But now it's you know, my turn, and
it is very very different. It's it's really cool when people,
you know, recognize me, especially being on NXT and you
(05:51):
know sometimes I have people like singing the chants that
they sing or you know, stuff like that. It's just
it's different, but it's it's really really cool.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
You know, you're coming off that can sorry booking to
jump in for a second. Coming off a great weekend
for you, like you mentioned back to back to back.
You had back Down, you had NXT, a Great American Bash,
and then that Evolution show. People are calling that Evolution
p l E. The show of the year. What was
the energy and the vibe like for that show in Atlanta, Georgia.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Oh my god, it was. It was amazing. Everyone was
just you know, trying to have the best show possible.
Everyone that was in such good spirits and was just
so excited to be able to, you know, show what
we've been working on our entire careers. And I think
every single match was just a banger, and I think
the fans really loved it. You know, I think people
are wanting a evolution three, so you know, that's that's
(06:41):
great news, Like we would love to do it again.
But yeah, I think everyone just killed it, and everyone
was just in such good spirits and just had like
the best time we could.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
And you were in the ring there, you know, with
with some greats, you know, Charlotte Flair. I mean, how
was it to kind of kind of brush up against
some of those athletes?
Speaker 2 (06:58):
It was, it was incredible. It was really really intimidating.
I'm not gonna lie, but in the moment, it was
just so much fun, especially being next to my best
friend Zaria and being able to you know, step up
and show what you know NXT has taught us, and
I think we really proved that we belong here and
having these you know, legends like guide us as well,
we just felt so we felt like we belonged and
(07:22):
that's exactly what we wanted coming into this, and we're
just happy that we were able to represent NXT in
a way that we did.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Boh h.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
You know you've had so much success, you know, but
you just spoke on in a second ago as far
as you know, like being in there with like Charlotte
Flair and whatnot. You know, for me, that moment, that
that that moment when I realized.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
Man, I'm up here. Man, it felt like so so.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Out of you know, out of body experience, like you know,
for me being in the ring with like steam Boata,
mister Perfect, like brand Hart, and I'm like, man, how
a hell I ended up in the ring with Bret Hart.
Have you had that moment yet? And if not, who
who do you think that moment would be with?
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Uh? Yeah, we absolutely had that moment. But you know,
it is an out of body experience when you're in
the ring there, you kind of think about it for
like a half a second and then you just have
to flick back on you, you know, the same time. Yeah,
I definitely definitely felt it. I haven't. I didn't have
enough time to really digest just because how you know,
(08:22):
fast faced it was. But definitely with Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss,
who of yours, honestly, every single person in there, I
was like, damn, we made it.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
We did it well, yeah, Brad, Yeah, no, no, yes,
of course. You know some of the matches that have
really stood out to me from you as of late.
I remember talking a book er about that battleground match
you had with Kalonie Jordan. I was saying that was
it stole the show for me that night, and to
go on early and to kill it like that, y'all
(08:52):
had to feel once the one two three came, Wow,
we just did something real special.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah. Honestly, every time Colone and I get in the
ring with each other, that was our only like our
second match as the singles together. But every single time
we just try and steal the show. We try to
be the main event, regardless of what position we are
in the card. And yeah, hearing that one two three
every single time, I get the chills. You know. We
put our hearts out there and we're really trying to,
(09:20):
you know, bring a new style to women's wrestling, and
I think that people are starting to see that and
we are starting to change the game a little bit.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
What's that style? How would you describe that style?
Speaker 2 (09:31):
I guess more like high flyer esque, but also more
like acrobatic and unique. You know, we both have similar
but different backgrounds, and I think we both try and
pull from that as much as we can to try
and stand out, and we try to you know, be
try to do things that the men can do, but
better if that makes sense.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Okay, okay, you know that that takes me, you know,
from a trainer perspective, you know, what has been your
thought process as far as the training goes, because your
finisher is different. You know, one thing about this bust
is I always say it's it's we're doing the same thing.
Everybody's doing the same thing, but we got to try
(10:14):
to figure out how to do that same thing a
little bit different. And I think that's what soul Ruka
breaks to the table. You do it like everybody else,
but you do it a little bit different. What do
you think you know that comes from.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
I feel like that's just kind of how I've always been.
I've always tried to stand out a little bit and
trying to you know, obviously pull from other inspirations, but
still keep it true to myself and bring you know,
this this sort of vibe that I have. I guess
it's more like peachy California, but also like this acrobatic
and kind of like edgyness to it. I feel like
(10:52):
it is it's really hard to name, but I try
and just bring myself into everything that I do, you know,
through zyn, through gymnastics and surfing and punk music and
stuff like that.
Speaker 5 (11:04):
What did what did you steal the finish from?
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Because my thing is, I'll that's gotta be a gym.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
I say that because every finish that I had, I
stole every one of them. You know what I mean,
nothing's original, you know what I mean. I just blew
a spin or put a little spice soder. Would you
come up with the finish?
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Yeah, that's that's tough coming up with like completely unique
stuff and wrestling because everything's done been done before. So
mine kind of came from gymnastics. Like you said earlier.
It was a move that I did on the high
bar called a straddleback, and it's where you swing off
the high bar forward, you swing backwards, you let go
(11:43):
do kind of like a half front flip and then
laying on your hands and a handstand. So I kind
of wanted to bring that into a wrestling move. I
had seen a similar move from someone who did it
like on the side of the rope and they did
it into a stunner. But I was like, there's a
way my back's going to handle that long term. So
I try to workshop it a little bit and decided
(12:05):
that landing in the cutter position was just the best,
the best thing for me, and it took off.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
I mean, it's been one of the most viral I
think wrestling moves in the last several years. I remember
when Randy Orton's RKO was going viral all over the place,
and now it's the soul Snatcher. You see it off
the ladder, you see it, you know, coming out of
different perspectives and things like that. It's probably it's probably
a great finish to because you know when you hit it,
the people are going to go crazy, They're going to
pop out of this world. But let me ask you this,
(12:32):
coming back after the rehab and being all for those
nine months, was there any intimidation that you were going
to be able to do everything physically that you did
before the injury.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Definitely at the start, you know, right after surgery you
can barely stand on your own, so that was definitely
in the back of my mind there. But moving forward,
after I started walking and moving around. I kind of
just gas lit myself and told myself that I was
going to be fine and that I was good and
(13:05):
that I was going to be even better. And I
think that, honestly, I think that worked. I think the
mind is very very powerful, and I think I almost
tricked myself into coming back better than ever.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Well, WWE NXT, Books Gotta be live at the seven
to one to three Music Hall in Houston, Texas this Tuesday,
and Soul for you. You know, obviously you and book
are there for NXT and Orlando every week mainly, but
y'all being able to get on the road as of
late Atlanta. George, like you said you had that triple
shot back to back to back, is it does it
kind of make your craft all that much better when
(13:37):
you get to kind of performing in front of different
crowds in different states, Oh.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
One hundred percent. You know, being in front of different
people and different amounts of people, you get different atmospheres
and a different feel and perspective. And you know, I
feel like our fans are a little bit spoiled because
they see us every single week and they kind of
work with us a little bit. So anytime we get out.
It's just it's a good learning experience. And I mean
(14:03):
I I just love showing off, to be honest.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
Well, you better get ready to show off because you
coming to the age baby, and before you know, we're
coming upout a break. Before I let you get out
of here, I need you to let the people know
exactly what they can expect from soul Ruca. You know
when you come to Houston, so so cut me a promo,
Cut me a promo.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Thank you guys. If you guys want to see one
of the most crazy, unique and define gravity move that
you can ever think of, and might as well stop
buying exceed to see the Soul Snatcher for yourself.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
I'm sold. I'm sold, but she sold me.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
Okay, we're going to work on the promo skills. We
go to work on them. I know, I'll put you
on the spy, but I can. I can let the
people know, uh in Houston and soul Ruka is definitely
gonna show up.
Speaker 5 (14:59):
She's gonna show up, show out.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
It's like like I said last week, She's like a skittle,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (15:05):
She's about to make the world taste the rainbow. Baby.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
Oh yeah, it's bad. So I thank you for giving
me some time inside the hall. No, we appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Thanks, so we appreciate you.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
Oh for man, right there, just like a skittle, I'm
about to make you taste the rainbow.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
Baby.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
I will tell you though, anything like that, I like it.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
But I will tell you soul, Ruka, that finish her presentation,
her ability in the ring. Man, she's she's she's going
to be out of here, you know what I mean.
She's gonna be one of those ones did people people
talk about for a long time.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
Another thing is Soul is definitely one of those one
that people are going to be talking about for a
long time. I feel like she's gonna have longevity in
the business. She's got she's got that that it factor. Yep,
that that that that mightish touched you know.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
It says like the wind, you could feel it, but
you can't touch it, but you know it's there. That's
so Ruka.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
So but uh no, man uh That's another one of
my bookisms.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
Those steal it those still it guys.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
You need to have a walk of bookisms is what
you need in Vegas.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
With the Big Fight mcmanny, Peggy All Fight versus body
old body else going down on the nineteenth.
Speaker 5 (16:23):
But we got a whole lot more for you. Stick around.
We'll be back in a minute. M h m hm
