Episode Description

In this episode, I am asking a hard question. Have we isolated ourselves so much in the name of protecting our peace and enforcing boundaries that we have started to disconnect from others and even from ourselves. Over the last few years many of us learned to withdraw, and it can feel easier to stay in our own world than to show up for people who need us. The line between healthy solitude and avoidance is not the same for everyone, and I do not pretend to have the absolute answer.

I walk through how self work can tilt into self absorption, why showing up in public or for a friend can feel more draining when we are used to being alone, and how empathy and compassion can fade when we are always inward. I share my questions, my observations, and I invite you to share yours. If this hits, email me with your experience and where you think the line is for you. Let’s keep this real and practical, inside/out, and figure it out together.

Please share this episode with anyone you think would be interested in listening to it.

Stuff You Should Know
CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
