(00:54):
Welcome to the Delvin Cox experience, the podcast which
each week I'm on a one man mission to not our coast to
diversity. I'm your host, Delvin Cox and
with me on this podcast, I'm going to say it.
I'm going to give him his problem, give him his flowers.
I never do something. Give them to him now.
Legend host of The Who will win show Batman creator not vampire

(01:21):
the masquerade series. I was going to say that reclaim
Detroit vampire the masquerade series podcast that you I highly
recommend and I'm quite sure thenext season is going to come
like a 2038 but it's still amazing.
You should definitely check it out.
My boy, my friend, my brother race scanners.
How you doing buddy? Hey, what's going on?
Mr. Delvin Cox, host of the Delvin Cox Experience.

(01:43):
Yes, been a long time she's beenon here man.
It has. I was actually thinking about
that the other day. You know, I was like, I'm seeing
the list of people and there arepeople that we know that have
been on the Delvin Cox experience multiple times since
the last time I was on. So I was already sitting there
being like, it's been too long already.
I need to get on there. Yeah, Matthew Dawson been on
here like 6 times. Here's what I'm saying, you

(02:04):
know, I listened to the Bjorn the Viking episode and I had, I
had some, I had some bones to pick.
You go first. I I got a little controversy
behind the episode, so I'll tellyou in a second.
I'm not surprised there's it mainly came down to picking like
your top five favorite Vikings and he didn't mention the
greatest Viking of all time. That would be Eric the Viking

(02:27):
from the movie, played by Tim Robbins in the Monty Python
adjacent Eric the Viking. A truly amazing movie that never
got referenced even a single time.
So I was very, very upset to forthe for the snub, honestly.
And he didn't mention any of theMinnesota Vikings.
Not that I have a lot of favorites there, but I would

(02:50):
have just thought it would have been an obvious pull.
I just, I think his list was youcan go Randy Boss, that's fine.
There's a lot of good choices onthat list.
I'm not. I'm no fan of the Minnesota
Vikings, but I can inspect them from a distance.
Yeah, so my controversy is apparently the Cuban community

(03:10):
reached out to me and apparentlyI was saying the name of the
drink wrong. Really.
Yes, it's Upena. Upena.
Well, also like, not Jupena. Jupena, it's.
Who? Wait, who was it that didn't
know Faygo that also really upset that was Ken.
Yeah, come on, dude, you're in the Midwest, ish.

(03:32):
That's a well known thing. Yeah.
Like, you got to get your rock clown pop, your red pop, and
your, you know, moon mist. All those things are down here
strangely, which I still don't understand how they get here
apparently I guess. We both know it was the insane
clowns don't even start. Pretty much I agree.
I I. Had to make sure that I, I, I

(03:53):
went with the, I had to bring the heat off the top because I
listened to it. I started getting more and more
upset with Mr. Bjorn, the Vikingand, and you know, this is the
platform. If not here, where to discuss
these these slights? This is the platform to get
upset at people. I do it often.
Why I'm here? I get.

(04:13):
It as always, like to start the podcast off with the five for
five, five questions 5 asks to get the ball on Ray, Are you
ready? I no, but doesn't matter.
No, that's matter. Not even a little bit.
Question number one, we always hear this thing about things
that should not be remade. That's all.
The things that shouldn't remakethis, you shouldn't make that.

(04:35):
What's 1 property that you thinkthey should remake?
Wow, One property that they should remake.
You know, they've already remadepretty much absolutely
everything. And I would normally say GI Joe
give it another run, but they'realready working on that right
now. As we both know, there's already
a new animated series coming. You know, I can't really say

(04:55):
more Evil Dead movies because wejust got the Evil Dead TV show
in a brand new Evil Dead movie in the last couple of years.
So every single one of the things you, you know what I want
to see. OK, here's the thing.
If you know anything about me, you know I'm a fan of the old
but still current anime series loop in the third and I would
still love to see somebody spendthe money and it would probably

(05:19):
cost way too much and not make it back, which is why it's not
going to happen. But a loop in the third live
action movie here in the United States, I don't think there's
any way they would get it right, but it would be very fun to see
them try. Who would you get to play loop
in the third? See, that's the question.
The guy who is the guy from Mallrats?
There was a fake poster that came out like a decade ago.

(05:42):
Jason Patrick, Is that his name?Yeah.
He he was on the cover and, and,and Bruce Campbell, oddly
enough, as Inspector Zenagata. And I was like, this is too good
to be true. And I I see him as Lupin.
Absolutely. Zenagata as Bruce Campbell is
just brilliant. There's no wrong way to do it if

(06:03):
I can just be quite honest with you.
Except if they were to cast me as Lupin, that would be not a.
Good choice maybe. But I love that series too much.
I've been doing a a full watch. I have all the DVDs here of all
100 and 55 or whatever episodes of.
Season 2, yeah. Yeah, I'm only I'm I'm all I'm
about 30 some odd in right now. It's a slow burn if you do like

(06:24):
once a day when you remember it's been a few months.
I'm like 30 something and it's great.
I'm enjoying it. I have watched maybe 30 episodes
of Lupin. You got to get the move, you got
to get that Miyazaki movie. That's the one that's going to
pull everybody. And you see that especially when
you're if you're young, like when I saw it when I was much
younger. And it's Miyazaki in his take on
Lupin the Third. It's the best Lupin thing there

(06:45):
is. The Castle of Cagliostro is.
The I have not watched that I need to watch.
That it's streaming everywhere you can find it.
And you should. Because look, we all love
Miyazaki. And if you don't know Lupin,
it's the literal best way you'regoing to get introduced to it is
through Mr. Miyazaki, who's, youknow, a genius.
I wanna say I started watching Lupin because it was on.

(07:07):
I wanna say it was on Cartoon Network or something like that.
Yeah, yeah, it. Was for a little bit too.
Not me, yeah. Yeah, so I watched other
episodes just off of there and it never showed them in order.
It doesn't matter. Each episode is it's its own
world and they often, they typically do not relate even a
smidge to each other. Yeah, and each episode assumes
none of the other episodes happened.

(07:27):
I'm watching season 2 and there is no rhyme or reason to
anything that's happening. It's one show that you can watch
out of order and miss nothing. I love it.
Question #2 Ray. Yes.
What fan casting you wish was real?

(07:48):
What do you mean by that? What fan casting?
You know, fans like the cast characters into certain movies
and stuff like that. Then when we found it's not the
person they thought it was goingto be, everybody gets mad and
makes a big deal about it. Oh, I get you.
No, I mean, look, I I really liked the idea of Tom Cruise as
an alternate Iron Man in the upcoming Avengers movie.

(08:10):
I hope they're still. That was a good one.
That happened because that wouldbe phenomenal.
The thing is like, we're so blessed right now to have so
many talented performers out there and pretty much
everybody's getting to do the things that they want to do.
So it's hard to for me to even fan cast something unless it's a
property that hasn't been, you know, made yet.
You know, I, I don't know, like every single casting has just

(08:32):
been perfect. So I'm going to, I'm going to
cast. I'm going to Who would I cast?
I don't even know. I'm going to cast myself.
You and Brent Pope of the third season of Severance.
How about that? I like it.
Great idea. I have one.
There was talks, not too low actually, of Denzel Washington
playing Professor X. See, that's not bad.

(08:55):
And I was like, that would have been and and Giancarlo Espinito
playing Magneto. See, I would, I would be into
that. It would be a different take on
X-Men, but I think we're due fora different take on X-Men.
Yeah. You know, the next take we're
going to get is just the Fox X-Men Movie again, which is
fine. Those are good movies. 2 of them
are good. Yeah, two of them are good. 2

(09:16):
1/2 Wolf, The Wolverine and what's the other one?
Logan are pretty good. No, you're right.
Pure X-Men, that. Pure X-Men.
Went off the rails so badly. Yeah, it needed a fourth movie
to fix it. It would be like, what if
Infinity War was the end and they never did end game?
But also Infinity War was a mess, you know what I'm saying?

(09:37):
Like as I walked out of the theater for X-Men, the third
one, I thought to myself, OK, yeah, that was dreadful, but at
least they're going to make another one and clean this up.
This is obviously like an EmpireStrikes Back situation where
they messed everything up because they're clearly going to
come back and fix it and then they never did and it still

(09:59):
makes me angry. No one.
You're absolutely right. Maybe Marble will fix that.
They went back. There's a chance.
Incredible Hulk. Look, you know they're I'm
biased, but I trust the Russo brothers to hit it right, to be
fair. You and me both.
Impossible impossible task with Infinity War and End Game and
they made one of the most satisfying movies in history, if

(10:19):
not the most satisfying movie inhistory.
I agree, so question some. Rope.
See what happens. Question #3 Ray.
We're only at three. Wow.
Yeah, that's how it works here. See, I don't know.
I almost forget what I was goingto ask you.
I remember what I was going to ask you.

(10:41):
I almost forgot again. What's happening?
That's what happens when I get you this late at night.
Yes, that's what happened when I'm on Who Would Win Time.
OK, this is what I wanted to askyou.
Yes, there are a lot of video game remakes into like live
action TV shows and stuff like that.
Yeah. What's a video game that you

(11:05):
want to see either live action or animated form and we haven't
seen? Real good question.
Yeah. You know, I'm looking, I'm
thinking back. We're talking animation.
Look, I've been, I've been goingback.
I'm a retro gamer. I'd like to go.
I, I have my old Dreamcast and PlayStation One and a few other

(11:26):
systems hooked up over here, like right, right where I'm
sitting. And I've been getting back into
Chrono Trigger for the PS1. Obviously that's in Akira
Toriyama, you know, the guy who made Dragon Ball, he did the art
for it. And I would love to see a Chrono
Trigger anime series in the style of Dragon Ball.
I mean, that would be phenomenal.

(11:46):
That'd be pretty good. You know, And I think back to
like they've tried to do almost every single video game in an
animated form, Saturday morning cartoon or an anime or a live
action and they've all kind of been done to a certain point.
You know, I look back at a game like siphon filter for the great
PlayStation one and I'm just like, that's got that same Tom

(12:09):
Clancy vibe to it that I think could be good in a moment.
But if they if they were to makea movie out of Far Cry 3,
something I don't think we see very often, I love that game.
And you got the actors to do it.You got Michael Mando.
Just bring him in and just have him re re redo vase, you know,

(12:29):
for a new thing. And, and the plot of that is
essentially you're a rich, spoiled white kid and all of his
terrible friends. And you're sort of like abducted
on an island and you have to tryto go save your friends as you
battle madness and take yourselffrom a useless, you know, kid on
vacation to being like Lord of the island.

(12:51):
And it's, it's an, it's a great game.
It's super interesting. And I think there are some
themes there that could be really well done.
What if I told you Far Cry has amovie?
Does it? Yes, it is not good.
It is based off of the I think the first game.

(13:13):
Oh, I didn't even know that existed.
That's crazy. Came out in 2008 and on Rotten
Tomatoes it has a whopping 12%. Was it one of the Ooey bowls?
Because those are great if you ever if you haven't seen House
of the Dead. You nailed it.
It has to be. Yeah.
No, he, he Ooey Ball is a geniuswho made about 97 video game

(13:35):
adaptations of very B&C list properties.
And they're all remarkable in their own way.
None of them are particularly good, but they're all
interesting, you know? And I go back one of the tests I
used to do that. I haven't done it in a while but
as if I have a new friend, you know when.
The older we get the fewer new friends we find.

(13:58):
But I would invite a new friend over and I would put on House of
the Dead and just see what happens and if the person gets
it, I know that they will make agood friend.
If the person rejects it or doesn't finish watching it or
complaints, then they're probably not going to work out.
What do you think is his best movie, House of the Dead?

(14:20):
He made the blood rain and I hear blood rain people like that
one a lot. I think that might be my
favorite is House of the dead because it's it's insane.
They intercut, you know, 64 bit graphic House of the dead arcade
into the movie and it doesn't make any rhyme or reason.
There are some wonderful matrix like effects that they put in

(14:43):
there in this the graveyard fights the greatest thing in the
movie. If you can just find the
graveyard fight from House of the Dead, it's long.
It's like 20 minutes long, at least I think from what I
remember. But it is wonderful.
It look, you watch that and you'll understand what I mean.
Yeah, he's made some movies. For those who don't know, some

(15:03):
movies he's made House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark 1 and 2.
That's right. Blood rain one and two
Deliverance and Oh my bad. And three, the Third Reich in
the name of the King in the nameof the king 2 that.
Was him too OK? That's correct.
Had Jason Stadium both of those.I remember that. 2 worlds which

(15:26):
I never seen I didn't know that I even had a movie.
The last in the name of the king.
Three I didn't know they had. Wow, I.
Only knew about the first one. I knew about the first two I.
Was kind of interested. Yeah, Postal and Far Cry.
I need to see this Far Cry movie.

(15:46):
There's no way he got it right. No, absolutely not.
I don't think so. Tonight.
All right, question #4. Also also give me fallout what
season 2 set in New Vegas? That's all I ask for.
They're actually they're shooting it here in Los Angeles.
I was driving up the 170 freewaylike a month ago and all of a

(16:08):
sudden at the corner of my eye, I look over and I see a giant
like sign for the Lucky 38 casino.
And I went, oh, it's really happening.
It's here. And I got I got beyond excited
you. Didn't try to get on the set.
No, but I should have. Yeah, sometimes I just got to
use your white privilege I don'thave.

(16:30):
True. That doesn't work for me.
I can't go on this. Can I go on this set?
Absolutely not, Sir. I can tell a story.
I once snuck into Ford Field, where the Detroit Lions play in
Detroit when I was there visiting.
I had some time that afternoon and I wanted to go on the tour
because you can go on a like inside the stadium, inside the

(16:51):
locker room tour. Well, that's cool.
Yeah, and I've been on it before.
It's it's wonderful. A dear friend got that for me
when when I was about to leave to move to Los Angeles nearly 20
years ago. Wow.
And so I went back. This is a few years ago.
And I was just like, I want to go again.
I want to see it. I want to do the thing.

(17:12):
And they were closed. They were doing a concert.
So they were setting up a concert that night for Kenny
Chesney, who I'm not greatly familiar with, but there's a
Kenny Chesney show at and so there you go.
That's probably why I don't know.
And I walked all the way around the entire length of the stadium
and I saw an open door. And so I just sort of just

(17:32):
walked up and just walked into the stadium just like you do.
And I, I only got like 10 steps in and I heard a security guard
just being like, hey, hey, hey, you're not.
You can't just. Walk into Ford Field, What are
you doing? And I was like, Oh my bad.
I didn't know you couldn't just walk into the stadium if the
door was open. And what?
Do you think, Sir? I got to go in and then they

(17:55):
were just, I said, what's going on?
They're like, it's a Kenny Chesney show.
There's no tours today. And I'm like, is it OK if I
like, hang out for a couple minutes and just like, you know,
look, look, look at the stuff. And they were like, no, you have
to leave right now. I say, all right, fine.
But at least I got inside the stadium and that was delightful.
Yeah, that's dope. Yeah, it's a good time.

(18:16):
Question #4. #4. Top five board games.
Top five board. You're going to do this to me.
There are so many great board games out there.
You're going to ask me what my top five are?
And it changes constantly. Look behind you and see which
ones you get. Yeah, I got to look behind me
here. It it changes constantly.
You know, I have a lot of favorite board games.

(18:39):
Look, the number one game that I've always played is a game
called Upfront, which is a game that absolutely no one would
expect to hear from. It's from like the 19, 80s,
early 80s I believe. And it's a World War 2 strategy
based card game. And it's, it's, it's legit, it's
a very real game. It's one of the best design
games I think I've ever played my life.
And it's one of the first games I, my dad taught me when I was

(19:01):
very, very young and he taught me by playing against me and
beat me over 100 times in a row, over 100 losses before I finally
pulled one out on him. And that training hardened,
hardened me as a gamer. And I've since gone to the world
Board Gaming Championships and I've won two times world

(19:23):
champion of that game. And that is something that I, I
carry with pride and merit, evenif it only means something to
like 30 people in the world, it doesn't matter.
But I'm very, very happy with that.
That's that's always going to bemy number one game of all time.
Look, I'm going to say final girl also, you know, I'm going
to say that it's it's solo horror based game.
I just placed the order for the five nights at Freddy's buddy

(19:47):
Billy Bear at buddy land set that they just announced.
So I should hopefully be receiving that soon.
I just season 3 has been phenomenal.
We tried the Terminator one. It was absolutely wonderful
board games. I mean, there's so many great
ones. I mean, gosh, who's going to do
this to me? What do I like to play 7

(20:07):
Wonders? I'll just throw out some that
maybe aren't even in my top five, which is five I can think
of because I don't want this segment to take 100 years.
I really like playing 7 Wonders.I've had a very good time with
that. Betrayal at House on the Hill is
something I don't get to play enough and I've heard there's a
legacy version of that as well that is probably phenomenal.
Betrayal House of the Hill is a wonderful game.

(20:28):
It's, it's, it's, it's a hard game to really to do, but you're
exploring a haunted house and then a story happens and then at
the end of 1 of it, randomly oneof you turns into a traitor.
And then there's a big story that develops and unfolds in
front of you. And it's a wonderful game for
new players to play. But the end, the end game of it

(20:48):
is terrible with new players. If a new player, I played it
once and a new player got to be the traitor, but they didn't
really read through any of the rules, which is like a page of
rules you suddenly have to read and then understand in the
moment. So we just won.
We just bowled him over. And at the end I look at it is
like you had all these powers and stuff.
They're like add and it's like, come on, what are we doing?

(21:10):
And then my last one, I'm going to say Arkham Horror, the card
game. It's absolutely fantastic.
I love the stories, I love building the decks.
I like playing the characters. I'm playing a lot of it lately,
both online and in person. And if you like Cthulhu stuff,
it's worth, it's worth a look. A lot of individuality in that
game. It's it's very good.

(21:31):
Question number five. There we go.
This is a fun one. What a property that you can't
enjoy anymore because the personwho does it is a terrible
person. Oh, wow.
And and it's and it's so bad. This is so bad.
You're like, I just can't watch this anymore because I don't
like this person at all. Like I give a good example.

(21:52):
I used to love the show Person, Person of interest.
Same. One of my favorite shows.
Absolutely. I love that show.
Then. Then Jim Caviezel did some
Caviezeling. Yes.
And I'm like, oh, it's tough. I can't watch this show anymore.
That's tough. It's funny you would bring that
up right after I bring up an HP Lovecraft property because he

(22:13):
was a pretty terrible person too.
He had a lot of bigotry in his life that unfortunately affected
his work and I think some of thethemes.
Here's the thing about it though.
I'm not saying this is a good thing, but he couldn't have told
the stories he told if he wasn'thorribly xenophobic, right?
Because those real fears of the other, which were silly, became

(22:39):
great art. So it is, it is very, very hard
to separate the art from the artist.
And it and it look, he was very anti-Semitic as well and racist.
And that stuff comes out in his books, you know.
And it's regrettable, hugely regrettable.
Unfortunately, it forms the coreof who he is.
If people don't want to do Lovecraft stuff, I get it.
Yeah. But I think the stories are
phenomenal, you know? And we're far enough detached

(23:01):
away from it. It's not like he's making a lot
of cash on my Arkham Horror purchases, you know what I'm
saying? So what Ray is saying, to be a
great artist, got to have a little bit of racism.
I don't think that's what I'm saying at all, but it was the
root of his properties. Go.
Obviously I have a real hard time with the Harry Potter
stuff. Oh yeah.
JK Rowling has just destroyed, like she created something

(23:24):
beautiful and created something so wonderful.
And those movies are phenomenal.Just perfectly cast, well
directed, just the music's beautiful.
And then by being one of the worst people on the planet, she
makes it so that I don't feel comfortable watching the movies
or even going to the rides at Universal.
Like my kids, my kid really likes it.

(23:47):
And so we go on the rides at Universal, but I try to get her
into the Harry Potter land, do the ride and then get out right
away. Like I just, it's, it is
uncomfortable. The ride is great, but it, it's
a very difficult property. And the other one, you know, the
other property, WWE. It's tough to put money in the

(24:07):
McMahon family's pockets. All of them.
Yeah, let me see the news. They've been going full mega.
No, no, I know Linda McMahon. You know, wife of you know, in
parentheses, wife quotation records should say Vince.
She's she's one of the people inin the cabinet of the current

(24:28):
administration who pronounces AIA one.
What are we even doing anymore? Yes.
I don't know if you saw this week Triple H did an interview
and you've been to WWE Fisher. You know one thing, Vince Mann
always said, if we don't talk politics because you know people
about things? They asked.

(24:50):
Him. Yes, they asked Triple H about
Trump. He's like, yeah, I love the guy.
It's great. It's, it's not surprising.
Look, if anybody in WWE, he, thecurrent president is AWWE Hall
of Famer, he's done a lot of work with Vince McMahon over the
years. Terrible people relate to other
terrible people, especially whenthey're rich.

(25:11):
It is not a surprise to me to find how many wrestlers who made
millions and millions of dollarssupport the current
administration despite of or because of a lot of the terrible
things that are currently happening in this country.
And it it will never be surprising.
He's listen. How do I explain this without
also sounding terrible? But wrestling is a carny sport.

(25:35):
It is it look, there is a certain personality type that is
shady and shifty and is LED towards professional wrestling,
not as a fan, but as a as a person who does it right.
There's it's, it's, it's a gianticon and we know it.
We embrace it, we love it. But that's what it is at the end
of the day. That's what it's always been.
Look, I myself am one of those shifty and shady people who was

(25:59):
attracted to it to the point of wanting to go be a professional
wrestler. And I've, you know, I've had
over 100 matches, I've gotten inthe ring.
I've done the thing when I was younger and I know the people
that are associated with professional wrestling.
To find out that those people are now in full support of the
administration is not a surprisebecause the current president is

(26:23):
also Carney trash. He is also a con man and that's
why they all relate to each other so well and those people
tend to stick together. So let me ask you this for the
topic. Give me one wrestler that you
learn to split. He's a good, he's a good guy.
Oh, Mick Foley. That's a great answer.

(26:44):
You know that that'll be my go to my, you know, I think from
what I've known about him, Al Snow is pretty cool.
See. That one too.
You know, there, there, there's,you know, I've got to say a
jungle boy, Jack Perry, obviously.
Yes. I can speak from personal
experience. Former TNT champion, There's a

(27:05):
couple tag team champion. Yeah, you've wrestled Jack Perry
before. I wrestled Jack Perry when he
was like 8 years old, which is what makes this so crazy and
weird that he's a big star now. There are videos on YouTube
right now that you can watch of me doing a few minutes of
wrestling work with little tiny Jack Perry.

(27:27):
And I say that because he was a kid, not because he's, you know,
smaller guy now. But he's way more muscular than
yeah, Now I, I, I, I'm a big fanof the person Jack Perry and the
fact that he became a great wrestler really showed a lot of
heart and determination and drive.
And I just, I got so much respect for that man.
Yeah, great guy. Like so Ray, let's get to it

(27:50):
because I know everybody wants to know what what's going on.
No. We went through five more
questions. Come on.
What happened? Like, you know, people love Who
Will Win show. It's one of the most popular
shows on the Internet. People love the show.
Pretty big show, yeah. Pretty big show and then it just
disappeared. Yeah, The Who Would Win show had

(28:13):
to go. For those who don't know, The
Who Would Win show that I have hosted with James Gabsey for the
last we doing about seven seasons now, I think just over
around seven years or so. And the show, the show just
suddenly said, well, there were these fires in Los Angeles that
happened in January of this year.
And they really ravaged a few certain areas.

(28:34):
Now, one of those areas is a place called Pacific Palisades,
which is a very nice neighborhood.
It's not Beverly Hills, but it'snot so far away from Beverly
Hills. It's not here way up in the
valley where I live. You know, we're all, all the
Carney trash lives. James lived in very nice place
called Pacific Palisades. And that place was completely
devastated by the wildfires. And I don't think I'm speaking

(28:55):
out of turn. It's not necessarily my story to
tell, but James lost everything from the fires, you know, and I,
I can't imagine, you know, the, the, the, the sadness that I
feel towards him and his family, because that's where his, his
martial arts studio was, that's where his home was.
And there's just nothing you cando about it.
Like you've seen the pictures. I'm sure if you haven't, it's
too sad. Don't look.

(29:17):
But like that was what happened to him.
And so all of a sudden these fires happened.
He has to evacuate. And it's sort of just like, you
know, what am I going to say? Like, hey, why aren't you doing
the show? There's a pretty good reason
you're not doing the show. So we tried, you know, we did an
episode. We didn't know how long it was
going to last. We didn't know if he was going
to be up and move up and runningvery fast.

(29:38):
We didn't know, you know, how bad the damage was, if he had
even lost everything or his house was still there or
whatever. So when it first happened and he
had to evacuate, we did a charity episode, which you can
go back and listen to, which, you know, a lot of people were
on. I believe Delvin Cox might have
even been on that episode. And so, yeah, and so we did that

(29:59):
in order to sort of like we didn't give to James, you know,
because he's he's he had a lot of insurance.
He's fine. At the end of the day, he's
fine. You know, it sucks.
And I can't imagine what that does to a psyche.
But it he, you know, he, he willbe able to recover financially,
which is the great news of all of this if something good could
happen. But we, we wanted to support the
fire victims. And then the week after I had,
we had this amazing guest bookedgrant from Grant's game racks, a

(30:23):
wonderful Instagram channel. And so I asked our good friend
Matthew Harris to come over and debate against me so we could
still do the episode because I thought he was a great judge to
get on and just do the thing. And then after that, it was
like, we can't just do this indefinitely with, you know,
guests and all this. We.
Just oh, you can't, huh? We, well, we'll talk about that,

(30:44):
but we, we, we decided to just put the show on hiatus as best
we could and the show has not been around for about 3 months
now as we record this. Yes, to James credit and this is
giving major props to him. One other people know this
finally tell anybody this. James was supposed to be on this

(31:07):
show right before that happened.Talk about the past season.
And that's how I found out everything that was going on.
And to his credit, with everything he went through, he
still was going out there helping other people.
That's right. Going out there, donating,
getting people supplies and things that they need and that

(31:29):
gives to the credit of that man. That man went out there and
helped others when he needed help.
So major props to him. That's right.
And you know, and there and there's nothing.
There's no shame in any of that. And I and I greatly respect
that. He went out and tried to help at
food banks and pantries and stuff and donation centers.
You know, James is at the end ofthe day, while one of those

(31:51):
alphas who always needs to be doing something that's not,
that's not a guy who could just sit back on a beach and drinking
a Mai Tai and let the waves rollin.
That's he's always got to be working, you know, and I
absolutely can appreciate that. So even despite his his worst
moments, you know that you couldpossibly have, he's out there

(32:12):
trying to help other people. And I will give great respect to
that as well. Yeah, it was amazing.
I was super proud of him for that.
That was great. Now what that ended up doing is
that gave us months to rethink everything with The Who would
win show. Like, what do we like?
What do we not like? What do we want to do?
What do we see? What do we see happening with

(32:32):
the future of the show in, in And we came to a, a, a, we
talked about it at length and wecame to, you know, sort of a, a,
a series of decisions. And that was the, the show for
the last year or so has not beengrowing anymore to the level
that we wanted it to. And so the question is, like,

(32:54):
did we hit our plateau? It's a good plateau to hit.
Don't get me wrong. There's lots of, lots of
listeners, lots of joy. I mean, you see, we sell the ad
space pretty well and that's great, but we weren't growing
anymore. And so the question became like,
well, what do we do about that? Is there a thing we can do?
And we sort of came to the decision that we were going to

(33:16):
take The Who Would Win show and turn the entire thing, because
it's got a lot of listeners, a lot of subscribers and a lot of
social media. And we're going to turn it into
The Who Would Win network. And in order to be a network,
there has to be multiple shows on it.
So we decided that this was a great opportunity for James and

(33:37):
myself to reimagine The Who Would Win show in a way that we
liked, a way that we wanted. Because for years now, there's
sort of been a weird back and forth about what is this show?
What are we trying to do with it?
What more can we do with it? And we, me and James, had two
very different takes and what wethought the future of the show

(34:00):
should be. So we've been kind of like
talking things through even before any of this.
But now that we were presented agolden opportunity to have a
fresh start moment, we decided that each of us was going to do
our own version of The Who WouldWin show based on the our own
ideas and and be creatively in charge of it and share The Who

(34:21):
Would Win podcast network, if that makes any sense.
So there's going to be two Who would Win shows and more other
shows we're looking at for the network as well.
I don't want to say it's just going to be two, but this is a
great way to grow the show is tohave an entire network with more
stuff on it. That's going to be a nice way to
do it. So the show that James is going

(34:43):
to do, and I'll let I'll let himtalk about it himself, but the
general gist of it is it's a show called Who Would Win
Unleashed. And you know, maybe he doesn't
even want me saying it, but we're going to be making the
announcement probably before this comes out anyway, I hope.
But who would? We have planned it's.
It's going to be a studio show where they record it live in
person, much like we used to do for old Who Would Win back in

(35:05):
the early seasons where we wouldgather together, we'd have
guests, you know, we'd have deeper interviews and and then
do battles as well. I don't have all the information
about exactly what his show is going to be, so it wouldn't be
appropriate of me to say more than that because that's
basically as much as I'm comfortable sharing right now.
On the other side, I'm going to do a version of Who would win

(35:28):
that I call Who would Win Masters.
And one of the really fun thingsabout the show is how many
different people wish that they could come on not as a judge,
but wish that they could come onas a debater.
There's a lot of passion in geekculture circles.
I don't know if you know this Delvin Cox.
There are a lot of people who love a lot of characters.

(35:48):
And you know how many times we've, me and James would do the
show and then you'd look on the social media and somebody's
like, oh, I would have done a way better job than blank or
blank. I know so much about this
character. And I don't know.
Well, I think it's time those people come on and prove it.
I believe that the soul of The Who Would Win?
Show is the battle itself and crafting interesting dynamics

(36:10):
between characters from different realms.
Still not going to do Marvel versus Marvel, and it's going to
be a lot more similar in tone toThe Who Would Win show as it was
before. But the big twist is you've got
myself as a debater in one corner.
The new host of the show is going to be Sam Proof, who you
might remember from he was a judge on the show not
particularly long ago, in the last like 6 months.

(36:31):
And he's been doing streaming and Youtubes and stuff for like
over 20 years. The man is a true professional
and a great host for the show. And then the other debater is
going to be friends. That's going to be former judges
of The Who Would Win show. But the real idea is I want
people who never thought they could even come on the show to

(36:53):
send it in like a little demo, alittle audition tape of them
making an argument about a certain character.
And I want to find people that have spark, energy and passion,
and I want to bring them on and take them on with their best
characters. It's one thing to debate the
same person week after week after week.
It's another thing to go into the lion's den and challenge

(37:14):
people with with their characters that they know like
the back of their hand. Those people are not going to
have just like a week to preparefor a new battle like we did on
Who Would Win. These people have spent their
whole lives preparing and those are the battles that I want to
take on going forward. I think we can have some very
spirited debates, and at the endof the day, while the judge, Sam

(37:36):
and the host will make a decision of sorts on the show,
we really want to leave it up tothe people on social media, the
Patreon and all of the above to cast their votes, make their
voices heard, and then come to kind of a group decision.
Because I know that I should win98% of all battles.

(37:57):
I think the people will also reflect that after the fact, I
believe no more screw jobs. We got to let the people decide
this at the end of the day. I think it was one thing that
was lacking in the in what we were doing with who would win
before is you'd have one judge to come on and render one
decision that was supposed to bethe final word.

(38:18):
But often times their reasoning didn't make a lick of sense.
They would bring things in that nobody even brought up in the
battle to make their decision. And there were just so many
madding things where we prep them and we we prep judges and
we try to get them on there. And there were just so many
times where they screwed it up. I mean, the people are going to
screw it up too. But at least a lot of voices can

(38:40):
become one good opinion. What I like about the the people
voting is the whole aspect of, well, your pick.
Each week you're picking the winner and it's not the judges
fault. You get to debate among
yourselves why your character won or your lost, and that

(39:00):
becomes, that becomes a whole other conversation.
They have these conversations with each other in the
communities. They're talking, they're arguing
about it, positive conversation obviously.
And then that makes them want tocome back and vote again.
That's the thing. And so we're encouraging
obviously you know, people we want on the
patreonpatreon.com/who would win?
Show if you yourself thinking what I just heard sounds

(39:20):
attractive to you, you can send like a one minute demo of
yourself, you know, talking about a character and show us
some passion, show us some some grit, show us some knowledge and
send that to whowouldwinshow@gmail.com.
And I will personally go into that e-mail account myself and I
will listen to all the demos that would come in for and, and

(39:41):
we, you don't have to necessarily do the character you
did in the demo. Like we got to move some things
around to make sure everybody wedon't just using Batman 9000
times in a row. I mean, you know, we've tried it
before. It doesn't work so well.
Yes, well, let's put this out here.
This is very important, right? If someone wants to be a

(40:01):
combatant, what are the requirements for them?
Because I think we have to let it be clear like hey, this is
what you need to come to the table with.
Well, you know, I want somebody who's passionate.
I think first and foremost I want somebody who's passionate
and knowledgeable. Is there one particular
character that's like your guy or your gal?
I like the one character that you are prepared to.
Yeah. You remember that meme where

(40:22):
it's just like the the text bubble in the phone is like 8
feet long and it's like who, what?
What character could you talk about like this?
Those are the people and those are the characters that we want
to bring on the show. I mean, it was one thing on The
Who Would Win show as it was before, but there were plenty of
characters on the show that me or James wasn't particularly
passionate about. But for the sake of the show, we

(40:43):
had to learn all about them and do the and do the thing that
Driss Durden anybody, you know, this is this is the point.
And so, you know, you're not going to necessarily we'll try
to be high energy, but you know, you gave me Captain Carrot.
You're going to get another kindof a show, right?
And that's exactly what I want. So I'm looking for people who
are articulate. You got to be able to talk and

(41:04):
you got to be able to live in the moment and and and be ready
to go. I don't want somebody to write
out a bunch of scripted points and then just read off of it
like, you know, they're like they're using ChatGPT on their
college papers. Don't do that.
I want you to come in. I want you to be able to
improvise a little bit and stay on the stay on your feet and be
in the moment of the of the conversation.

(41:26):
But you got to have energy, You got to have passion and you got
to have knowledge. That's what I'm looking for.
And I encourage folks to take a shot.
You might not have what it takesto do it, but maybe it will stir
something in you. Maybe you'll come back with a
better attempt to again, I don'tknow.
I want to be wowed by every single person we get on the

(41:47):
show. And This is why I am challenging
Delvin Cox in this moment to come on the show, be one of my
first guests and let me destroy you in debate.
I'm glad to do that. That will be great.
Awesome. Have a good night people.
Oh, have a good microphone. If you're like, it's terrible
that you know what? Thank you for saying if you have

(42:09):
just the worst equipment in the world, we can get around with
average sound equipment. Yeah, but if you're trying to do
it with your with your what are your iPhone white headphone
thing that hangs down and you got to hold it up to don't,
don't be that guy. Please have an actual
microphone. Please have blue spec for
yourself. Yeah, $2030 mic.

(42:31):
This is a like a professional show and stuff, for example.
Yeah, you know, now this was no,I could have the podcast.
I'm like alright. So no, I could have the podcast,
you know, to be fair, no, I could have pocket some of the
best sound equipment in the world because we sat in our
Patreon money for like 3 years because we didn't know what to
do with it. And then we bought everybody's
super professional mic. The one I'm using right now is

(42:51):
from that, yeah, super professional mic setup.
So now the show sounds phenomenal.
What a great show. I love that show.
Big fan. I'm a big fan.
Yeah, you shouldn't be. You just see the new artwork. 2
out of three of the hosts. 2 outof three of the hosts are pretty
good. That's what I hear.
That's what I keep hearing. We actually, we, we just
commissioned new artwork that I got the like an hour ago.

(43:11):
I got delivered to me the nearlycompleted 1.
And I'm not going to spoil anything.
I'll just say it's making me very excited.
I really like the direction of the artwork.
Yeah. For Season 9, yeah.
Wow, nine seasons. And each one is probably more
than a year. The show's almost to its 10 year
anniversary. That's crazy.

(43:32):
And there's still GI Joe contentto do.
There's way more. There's so much more GI Joe
content to do, It's embarrassing.
Which might be quite honest withyou.
So let let me ask you this. Yes, that's.
Important nine seasons of this show, Chan, Gina, you put in the

(43:54):
work, kind of built this legacy and then you also have The Who
will win show. You've also built a legacy
there. I think it's dope.
Then you have my three dads. My 3 dads it's it's back.
New episodes sometimes. See, I'm promoting the boy right
now. Then he has reclaimed Detroit
the bastard stepchild I keep trying to get her to make more

(44:17):
episodes for and he keeps not making episodes for.
Episode 8 I'm going to get. This is a big bombshell.
Episode 8 is almost written. It is almost, it is almost
completed. I've actually been working on it
a lot in the last couple weeks and we we are nearly to the end.
It's not going to be as long as episode 7.
That one got to be like 50 minutes or something.

(44:38):
It got a little away from me, but there were I, I don't know
what I would have cut. I love that episode a lot and I
put a lot into it. But yeah, my goal is to get
episodes 8-9 and 10 and potentially close.
Put a little thing on season onethis year and get all three.
I know, I know. I've had one episode a year for

(44:58):
the last two years. You enjoy Railroad Martin, y'all
take the right these shows you're never getting in the Game
of Thrones, never getting in thereplay destroy.
But we got it in the Game of Thrones, but it wasn't good, so
we ain't counting that one. That's true.
I hope to stick the landing better than Game of Thrones did.
Subverting expectations by itself is not enough.
If you don't do, if you don't give anybody satisfying endings.

(45:20):
That's the lesson of Game of Thrones.
So what they did with Jaime Lannister at the end was was was
a crime. I hated everything about that
last season. No, I.
Mean there were good thing look Daenerys Daenerys doing a heel
turn was was set up like three seasons prior and anybody who
said it came from nowhere just Iwonder what show they were

(45:41):
watching Like her whole family history is that they try to be
good people and the second they get actual real power they
become bloodthirsty tyrants. So what happens as soon as she
gets any actual power? She does the same thing that was
told about in season 1. Like it made perfect sense and

(46:01):
her revenge quest on King's Landing, all of it made crazy
amounts of sense. Now the whole like we're going
to fly to the north above the wall and then come back all in
the span of 1 episode. They made a lot of bad choices,
you know? They still love it.
But that was the one good, satisfying choice they did make,

(46:21):
and I will defend that all day. Yeah, I wasn't mad at him yet.
I was kind of like, yeah, but there are a lot of things I
didn't like about it. But you know, Game of Thrones,
Game of Thrones. Let me ask you this.
It's still great. It's still great.
Yeah, still great. Can't, can't, can't nail them
all. But I know by the end of the end
of the season of Reclaim Detroit, I originally planned to
go 13 episodes. I'm kind of scaling back to 10

(46:42):
because it's taking me so long. And I might try to drop like one
or two one offs or side stories after the fact as like in
between anything. And then who knows if there's a
season 2, I'd, you know, be fun.I enjoy making it.
I make it for me and no one else.
And that's why it takes so long is because I'm, I only care
about, do I enjoy doing this? Do I want to do this?

(47:04):
What stories do I want to tell? And it's a passion project,
which means that there's no studio yelling at me to do it.
I do it when I feel like doing it.
And I have it all mapped out. But by the end of the 10th
episode, we should have a lot ofsecrets revealed, which is, of
course, nebulous, but we're going to find out.
We're going to have an answer toAlexander's murder, murder case

(47:27):
that hopefully makes sense to people.
That is all going to happen. We're going to have a couple of
big secrets that I don't even know if people think about the
fact they are secrets. There are many unanswered
questions in the show and we aregoing to definitely answer a lot
of them as well. So I hope people people stick

(47:47):
around and like it. Yeah, I do too.
Fantastic show. Let me ask you this right now
that you're the head of this WhoWill Win show.
Yes, who would win Masters? Who would win Masters?
What type of characters do you think you're going to bring to
the table? Could you, like you said, you
can bring some more character that you are kind of accustomed

(48:07):
to, that you kind of love, like Captain Carrot and things like
that? Yeah, well, when we first get
started, I want to bring the hits.
You know, you don't want to start doing Captain Carrot right
out the gate. You got to earn some trust
before they'll come with you on that journey.
That that a lot of them. Captain Carrier, he's right
behind me. If you can see him the action.
Figure I do see him. Right there.
And I'm a big fan, big fan of the character.
Now we're going to bring out thehits.

(48:28):
We're going to bring out AAA characters, top notch characters
from Marvel, DC, video games, anime.
I want to bring out a bunch of people, at least for the first
handful of episodes that everybody's heard of.
So Popeye the Slayer, man. Popeye the Slayer man is its own
deal. I don't think so.

(48:49):
But I'm talking about, I know we're still going to be specific
characters. You know, we're going to keep
basically The Who would win rules pretty well intact.
Those have been put through the fire over the last seven
seasons, and I feel really good with where the rules are at.
So that's going to stay the same.
But will the big catch in mind is that every round is going to
be timed at 3 minutes? You're done.

(49:11):
One of the big issues that I haddoing Who Would Win before was
that rounds could take 5678 minutes and then like, who's
going to go edit that? What if we can't edit ourselves?
What are we doing? So I'm trying to make a tight
show, a shorter show, a leader show, and one that really sticks
to the characters and the points.

(49:33):
And we can still have some fun with it obviously, but there's
going to be 3 minute timers and one minute timers on counters
and responses to points. Love it.
So when can mortal Khan Rigby beon this goddamn show?
Well, let me get a few episodes deep and then we'll we'll have

(49:54):
you maybe we'll I don't want them for your first episode.
Let me put that, put that out there.
Yeah. But I think we can.
I think we can talk about them at a later date.
I'm all for that. I I, I like this because, you
know, I get two different Dick one, we're getting more Who Will
Win content. That's the whole deal.
You're going to get 2 shows a week as opposed to one.
Now, one thing that I'll say is because of scheduling and

(50:16):
whatnot, what you're going to get out of my show is you're
going to get a, the, the battle itself.
And then the following week we're going to do a follow up
episode. So we're not planning to do like
every single week a brand new battle.
I am going to kind of pull the brakes back on that just a
little bit just for everybody's mental health and the mental
health of the of our bookers whoneed to find a new person

(50:38):
constantly to bring on the show to debate, to debate with me.
And so the the off week episodesis where I'm actually going to
go into the comment section. I know get the hazmat suit.
I'm going to go on the Patreon, I'm going to go on the Facebook,
I'm going to go on the threads, the Instagram and I'm going to
find all of the comments. We're going to have all the

(50:59):
voting and we're going to kind of use that episode to go over
the battle recap what happened alittle bit, but then talk about
what the people want to talk about.
And I really want this show to be the people's show.
I'm just a part part of it. So I'm going to be using the off
week episodes to wrap up the previous week's episode,
announce what the next battle isgoing to be and the next guest
potentially and then and then gofrom there.

(51:21):
And we'll see how that cadence works for everybody.
I love it. So cool thing about this is not
only you're getting double to who it when, but we're going to
start expanding on that universe.
Like right now it's two shows, then you say you're gonna be
willing to add more shows on it.So what kind of show do you

(51:43):
think you're looking for? Well, there's one I could
actually. We haven't talked about this
before. I'm gonna go ahead and announce
this on your show. We have made an agreement with
Mr. Matthew Dawson to release Mortal Verse audio dramas on The
Who Would Win podcast feed. Now, I don't know how often
they're going to come out. It might be like every couple of
weeks, something to that effect. But we're going to go through

(52:06):
the entire catalog of all the Mortal Verse episodes and then
hopefully also help debut any new episodes that come out.
And I'm very much looking forward to that.
And so we are looking for more content.
If there are other types of who would win adjacent, Geek culture
adjacent is really sort of what we're looking for.
We're not necessarily looking for a third who would win style

(52:26):
show, but we would love to bringon more shows that are sort of
in that universe that people whowould be into who would win show
would also want to listen to. You know, we, we're kind of see
ourselves at this point as like curators, podcast curators who
would love to get, get differentvoices front of the people using
whatever reach we have. I love it.

(52:47):
That is fantastic. Congratulations to Matthew
Dawson, this is going to be amazing.
I'm super excited for everybody who hasn't heard the Murder
Water verse to get to hear it. Fantastic series.
Get to hear my Batman. That's very exciting.
I love it by Green Lantern. You know Batman.
It's true. James Dirty.
He's like a fake Batman in one of the episodes if I remember.

(53:08):
Right, something like that, which makes sense.
So any photo thoughts before we go?
Rick, you got to get your pizza.I do have a pizza coming.
The pizza is not for about 20 minutes.
So if there's any Hot video gametopics that we want to talk
about, I have a couple more minutes left.
OK, I'm I'm perfectly look. I got another say 10 minutes and
then I got to go. So if you want 10 minutes show

(53:29):
going bonus round to all The Whowould win talk.
Bonus round, baby. Let's talk video games then.
Let's do it. I'm super excited.
I I think there's a ton of videogames coming out.
I just started playing. I would hate this game.
I don't know why I'm playing it.There's a game that just hit
Xbox Game Pass called Blueprints.
Is this a game you're familiar with?
No, I'm not. I just found out.

(53:50):
About it yesterday from a Co worker at the office where I'm
at right now and pretty cool office can't talk about it.
Nope, you cannot. Nope.
Not even a little bit. But he told me of this game
called Blueprints, which is a rogue like game, which already I
hate, I hate rogue like games. But it's a rogue like game where

(54:12):
you're building plans in a housewhere you're being dealt random
rooms and you have to build out the house.
The idea being that you have a grid of 5 by 9 and you need to
fill up all 45 rooms of the house without like walling
yourself off, without being locked out from keys and whatnot
that you don't have. And essentially you're trying to

(54:34):
build out the house and there's puzzles all through it that can
help help you along. And then the thing itself is a
giant puzzle. And so you need to sort of
figure out a lot of secrets, a lot of like little things.
I just had a sequence where I just figured out, like before I
came out this show, I was playing a little bit and there
was like an electrician box and you could flip it around and you

(54:56):
can like turn on or off power. And I happen to notice that the
dark room, which is normally a pretty bad room, you don't want
to be in, but you can turn the power on for that room.
I went back there after turning the power on in the dark room.
There were treasures and secretsand and all kinds of stuff in
there and I was like, this game is probably pretty cool and it's
a game I would normally hate, but I gave it a try.

(55:19):
It's got a very charming art style to it.
It's, it's very, it's very chillto play.
And I've now done about 12-12 runs, 12 days, 12 attempts,
whatever you say, and I haven't even gotten close to filling out
this thing. It is it is hard, but I believe
that the more you play, obviously like with the
roguelike, the more you play it,the more you give yourself

(55:40):
boosts for later runs, the more the puzzles become easier
because you finally get the pieces together to fill them out
to figure them out. And I would definitely say this
is probably worth the play. It's it's free on Xbox Game Pass
as we as we speak. So maybe go check that one out.
Love it. Are you playing self at midnight
yet? I, I have it downloaded to my

(56:01):
machine. I have not started playing it
yet. I was going to play it.
I'm out here. I'm playing the Call of Cthulhu
game, which is also free on GamePass right now.
It's, it's not very long. It's only like a 10 to 12 hour
game. Very narrative driven, very
story driven. And because I said before, I'm
into the Arkham Horror stuff, I'm into Cthulhu stuff.
I'm having a good time with it. I like that game too, that's

(56:22):
pretty good. Have you played it?
OK, great. Yeah, I'm, I'm nearing the end.
I'm in chapter I think 9 right now of of 14 chapters.
So give me a couple more play sessions that I should have that
thing done. I can't remember the company
that makes those games, but I like their games.
It's good though they. Make a couple of games like.
That, but I've been meaning to play it, you know, I like I say,

(56:42):
I like the Cthulhu stuff. So I'm kind of it's, it's very
much like a role-playing walkingsimulator, but with a lot of
dialogue trees and like little puzzles and stuff.
And it's a game that has a like there's the obvious puzzles.
And then I think it's the kind of game that there's a lot of
other stuff happening that you just don't, if you don't know,
you don't know and you'll walk right by it.
And so the replayability, I think it's probably very high

(57:04):
for this game. I agree it is a really good
game. If possible.
Who is made by it's right now it's on sale.
Actually if you have Steam it's 399.
You give me these free games on Game Pass, I'll be playing them
all day long. You know, it's, it's phenomenal.
Great game. So let me ask you this then,

(57:27):
have you seen the thing about the switch to yet?
I have seen the scene, you know, like I'm not particularly
interested in the Switch too personally.
We have a Switch one at home, which is actually a gift to the
rest of my family from me for Christmas a few years ago
because my wife is a huge fan ofMario Kart.
So there was a Switch bundled with Mario Kart 8 that was on
sale around the holidays and I went ahead and I picked it up

(57:50):
for her and we play Mario Kart and Mario Party and we're having
a really good time with it. I got Hello Kitty Island
Adventure for my 7 year old gameof the year.
She enjoys that game of the yearas far I'm concerned.
Yeah. And it's great.
Now, Switch 2 coming out, You don't, I don't know.
I'm you don't play the Switch because it's the most powerful
piece of hardware on the market. You play it because it's

(58:12):
comfortable. And it got Mario right.
That's really all you need. So I don't, I, I personally.
And at $449 at first for the Switch 2.
But we'll have the. Tariffs kick in and Jack, I
think up to like 800 bucks or whatever it's going to be.
I, you know, I wish them well. I mean more video games for all

(58:32):
is what I say. You know, even if it's not for
me, doesn't mean it's not for everybody, but it's just it's
not something that I'm it personally like super jazzed
for. New Mario Kart though.
Look, I'll probably end up getting a new Mario Kart.
Yeah, you might not have a choice, right?
But I might that you're right, Imay not have a choice.
It looks pretty good though. I like what the way it when

(58:53):
they're going with it is a more powerful switch. 120 frames per
second. I'm like, wow, looks really
good. I'm.
Not bad. I mean, The thing is after like
a certain amount of FPS, your brain can't really, your eyes
can't really process it anymore,Correct.
So at a certain point, like whatare we even doing?
Like I have everything set to 60.

(59:14):
You don't, you don't really needmore than that in my opinion.
But some people swear by it and I don't know, I think they I
think they're fooling themselves.
I tried gears at 100 and 2040 per second.
I'm like, oh. Did you notice a difference?
A little bit. Yeah, I'm.
Like this might be a bit much for.
Me, well, I, I, I, I laughed because there was a whole thing

(59:35):
not that long ago about Xbox releasing games that were 30
FPS, which is perfectly fine formost experiences.
Not every game needs to have this ridiculous frame rate.
There are so the gaming world isso diverse right now and
wonderful and and, and, and I love that about it.
But people were complaining and complaining and saying like this

(59:56):
Call of Duty, unplayable 30FPS. Blah blah blah this.
Game unplayable. Unplayable.
So I went on, I remember I'm a little troll, so I went on and I
said Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom unplayable because
it's only 30 FPS. Am I right guys?
And then of course, nobody agreed with me because that's
their game of the year. But you notice how it just

(01:00:16):
depends on what if they were looking for an excuse to hate
the game already, that became a convenient way to hate on it.
But you say it about a game theylike, suddenly it's not that big
a deal anymore. Weird how that works out.
Correct. It's like the silly controversy
with the new Assassin's Creed game, which by all accounts
looks amazing. It really does.

(01:00:36):
I haven't played the Assassin's Creed game since the pirate one
since Black Flag part 4. And we're well, well, well like
a decade beyond that at this point.
But this is the one I've actually thought about checking
out because it look, it looks phenomenal.
Seems like it's going to play phenomenally.
It's just more Assassin's Creed.But in Japan.
I mean, that's a pretty, that's a pretty sellable notion as far

(01:00:58):
as I'm concerned to begin with. And all of these ridiculous
manufactured controversies that people just deciding for their
own reasons. I'll leave it there.
You decide to hate on the game and it's it's so ridiculous.
It's so silly to me. If you don't want to play it,
don't play it. There's a million games out
there, and 300. We're hitting Steam every day,

(01:01:19):
So what are we doing? Why would you spend your short
time on this earth hating on a thing that's not for you?
It doesn't make sense to me. People do it every day though.
People think hating things is isa good personality and trust me,
back in the day, I fell victim to that too.
I was a child of the young Internet and I was angsty and

(01:01:41):
edgy and I would I would post things to make people mad all
the time. Heck, to a small degree I still
do. But the point about it all is I
try to live a life that's more about positivity.
What do I like to do? What do I want to see more of?
I'm going to go support that. I don't waste my time on things
that don't affect me that I'm not into.

(01:02:02):
Why? Why would I post about, you
know, like I, I'm not particularly into the Power
Rangers. What am I going to spend my
entire life making YouTube videos hating on the Power
Rangers? What kind of loser would you
have to be to do stuff like that?
Oh, there are a lot of losers out there.
And, and, and unfortunately, they'll never be happy.
They might make, make some moneyoff the wrong people, but at the

(01:02:25):
end of the day, that's that's noway to live your life, the one
life you get, man. It's just doesn't make sense to
me. I have one last thing to leave
you with, Ray. I think you'll like this.
There's a video circulating around the Internet with Ryan
Coogler. He's talking about a
conversation he had about Chadwick.
Chadwick Boseman. You know who passed away?

(01:02:47):
I mean, brilliant, brilliant actor gone too soon.
And he was telling him that Chadwick saw the script for
Black Panther Two, he was hyped for it.
And he tells the story of how Chadwick's best friend called
him up and told him and showed him a picture of Chadwick in
Mexico. And what happened, as the story

(01:03:10):
goes, is he told his family, hey, let's take a trip to Mexico
so I can get some, some off timeand stuff like that.
And then his best friend noticesChadwick in the corner
practicing martial arts. Then he realizes he took his
family to Mexico so he can studyfor Black Panther too.
Oh boy. Because he was that excited to

(01:03:33):
do the movie. So he gave them a vacation while
he was working, getting hyped and getting ready for Black
Panther 2 and studying the the Mexican tradition because he
knows you do the plot anymore and stuff like that.
He was super excited for it. So I'm going to sing that video
when I find it, when I when we get off this company, it's a
super dope video. It inspires me and you know,

(01:03:56):
it's really cool seeing somebodywho love their craft that much.
And I bring it up to you becauseyou are similar in the way that
you love everything you do and every every project that you
work on, whether it's reclaim Detroit, whether it's who it
when, whether it's no understandthe podcast, whether it's more
diverse. You put your all into it.

(01:04:18):
And I think at the end of the day, that will be your legacy.
I, I mean, I hope so. I hope I got a lot more legacy
to leave at this point. You know better.
Unless you know something I don't.
Did you see my last doctor's? Doctor's.
You're better because you're notleaving me here by myself.
Oh. Man, that would suck, you know,
and it's the same thing at work though too.
You know, I work in video games and I have for years now.

(01:04:39):
I've worked on some pretty big and popular games as well.
And every single time it's just such a, it's such a great, it's
such a great stupid thing that Iget to work with very talented
people creating this crazy videogame art.
And then you put it out of the Internet or you put it out there
for the people to enjoy. And then you know, and then you
say 2 out of 10. Yep.

(01:05:02):
And it's, and it's absolutely ridiculous.
You know, I, I, I, I try to workon the hits.
I'll just say that. Yeah, and you've done a
fantastic job at it. It's been great.
You know, I, I wish the industrywas a little healthier and I'd
stop getting laid off every year, but that's, that's where
we're at. Well, hopefully this wish to
open up some more jobs that. 'D be great.
We'll. See more jobs for everybody.

(01:05:24):
More video game jobs please. Please, we need them so right.
Let them know where to find you at.
Well, you can find me on Instagram and threads at
Almighty Ray 316. That other website does not
exist anymore, so I will not be going on there.
I have an account, but I'm nevergoing back.
What would be the point at this point?

(01:05:45):
What about to my on, you know, Facebook?
Go to the Facebook group for TheWho would win show and knowing
it's half the podcast, why not? You can also follow knowing it's
half the podcast. I think it's just knowing it's
half the podcast on Instagram and threads as well.
Correct. And I don't know, I have a blue
sky, but who uses blue sky? I'm more likely to be on
Mastodon. Like what are we talking about
right now? I have a blue sky.

(01:06:06):
Don't expect me to be. You can tag me and stuff.
And then once every three or four weeks I'll be like, oh,
neat, the one time I log in oncea month.
Pretty accurate, but that's the.Same way, but obviously the
Patreon for who would win show patreon.com/who would win show?
You can go on there and it doesn't it's not very expensive
and you go for a dollar. You can go on there for free.
You could be a free member and get all of the public

(01:06:28):
announcements and stuff straightinto your inbox right away.
And if you decide you want to gofor the three dollar $5,
whatever it is, it's not we don't ask a whole heck of a lot,
but we want you to be involved. We want you to have votes.
So pretty much anybody who's on there for just about any levels
going to have more say than theyhave had in the past.
Because I want the interaction. I want the people to do it.

(01:06:50):
And if you think you can come onthe show and debate me, which
you can't, but if you want to try anyway, the Sisyphus that
you are, you can send a one minute demo to
whowouldwinshow@gmail.com. And I will personally read it
and I will see. I'll see what's up.
And if and if I think there's something there, you know, we'll
probably reach out and say, hey, let's, let's try to set

(01:07:10):
something up. Love it, maybe I'll use
daredevil.
