Thank you. Welcome to the Delvin Cox
(00:44):
Experience, the podcast which each week I'm on a one man
mission to another coach, to diversity.
I'm your host, Delvin Cox, and with me this week is my man, my
boy, my brother from the Boss Rush Podcast network, my boy
Eddie V. How you doing bro?
Hello everybody. I'm doing good chess chess,
(01:05):
trying to get my mind together because of the Tomb Raider
announcement. Coming to Switch one or two was
like something that we've been wanting so bad and there's just
out of nowhere it got announced.I'm like what?
The world at the announced it today and Shadow dropped at the
same time at the announcement. I'm like, what?
(01:26):
Got home and brought the gang with it and I'm just like OK,
y'all got to do rise, we're going to need Shadow and then
we're going to need this connection, this physical
connection because y'all not just about to give us no
additional fractions and leave it there, no.
See Eddie and he's on the right track.
He has a lot he wants to talk about already today with this.
But before we get into that, as always, you start the podcast
(01:49):
off with the five for five, fivequestions, 5 asks to getting the
ball rolling. Eddie, Are you ready?
I've never am, but I Let's go. OK, question number one, give me
your top five Nintendo characters.
I find Nintendo characters OK, so definitely is going to be
(02:13):
Samus for one of them. Definitely.
Yoshi is my second one, the dog in pigment 4I cannot think of
his name. Ochi Ochi, love him.
Of course Zelda is going to be mice.
(02:39):
And then like Mario is definitely mice, you know?
I want to say Mario and Luigi, but definitely Mario since that
was Super Mario Brothers. What's the game that introduced
me to Nintendo? So that's going to be my 5.
OK, that's a good five. That's a good five.
All right, question #2 Eddie. Yes.
(03:01):
Keep it in the video game range. What is the best video game food
you ever tried? Like any product that's based
based off a video game. Whether it's cereal, whether
it's snacks, well, what product if you taste like this is good.
OK, so I definitely been gettingsome Nintendo style snacks from
(03:29):
a Japanese store. One of them or is the Mario
gummies. They have some Mario gummies
that's out there where the shapes are in the Mario Brothers
characters and they're they comein different flavors with it.
So I'm going to go with those. And I love gummies, like gummy
bears and stuff like that. OK, so we have to clarify this.
(03:50):
These are regular gummy bears, right?
These are not the special gummy bears.
No. Well, it's, yeah.
It's the thing about is they're they're gummy bears designed in
Mario characters, like their heads and stuff.
So you eat those like they're like gummy bears, but they're
gummy Mario. Characters, they're not the CBD
(04:11):
gummy bears. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
No, I. I can literally tell you I've
never seen those in any stores or anything.
You got to go to special places for those.
Oh, I've seen our CBD gummy bears in stores before.
I I wonder if there's. There's a mall where there's
several malls down there. In the malls down here, there's
(04:34):
always a CBD shop that has like the CBD products there and stuff
like that. And there's always somebody out
there in the front like, hey, you want to see CBD gummy?
I'm like, I'm not going to eat it, but why not?
It's free the dispensaries. Yes, yeah.
I know some states don't have that, but Miami, FL definitely
(04:57):
has a few of them. There we, we have, I think it
depends on what states have passed the laws for marijuana
and stuff like that, because when we passed ours and
Chicago's open, a whole bunch ofother stores start opening
(05:17):
around in my area. Some of them just says like
dispensary or they may have their little shops and names and
stuff with it so. And sometimes we go in some of
these dispensaries, they name their products after after
characters and stuff like that. Sometimes they got that, you
know, that Mario, Luigi and stuff like that.
(05:40):
So I want to clarify people thatknow what the hell I was talking
about. Question #380V.
Yes. This could be a fun one.
What has been your favorite video game moment from 2025 so
far? Oh wow, my favorite video game
(06:00):
moment. So it's not so much video like
from an actual video game. That's fine.
Just. Video game moment in general.
This this September I went to PAX West and I got to talk to
the director of Miss Fall Hunterand my article was on boss
(06:22):
pressure about our discussion and.
Which I read by. The I thank you so much just
good for sharing man. I was looking at this game
because the light the lineup packs W for this game was always
full. Like they, they literally never
get the light on. They they, it was just always
(06:44):
packed. So I got an exclusive to go play
the game. Didn't even get the didn't even
get 15 seconds to playing the game.
Just started talking to how and looking at this game and just
I'm earning and just having that30 minute conversation with him.
And you know, I, I even asked him a question about the delays
(07:05):
because they had to delay the game and stuff.
And it was just having that sit down moment talking to him was
like one of my best experience at Pets West.
Of course, talking to the peopleat city Connection games from
the game for City Connection andlearning about their history
with Jellico is also good. But just talking to how I miss
(07:26):
for all Hunters. I was just like, for your debut
game, this looks like a AAA. He was very humble.
He's just like, no, it's not AAAor anything.
Andy. And he was just so great.
And then I see him at in the Xbox Tokyo presentation because
that game was coming to Xbox. Seeing him do a video for that,
(07:47):
I was so happy to see him. I'm, I'm a big supporter of bell
ring gangs and a big supporter of him and his team that cannot
wait to play this game. It looks so good.
I, I, I and he's just like, yeah, we're only like 70 people.
I'm just like with 70 people. This game looks like it could
rival a lot of AAA games. I'm like on a whole nother level
(08:09):
and stuff and I'm just like, I'msaying that as a compliment.
So that was like my best video game moment for right now.
I have to say, for those who don't know, Miss Paul Hunter is
a RPG. Think it's a PBPEV extraction
RPG. Yeah, PVPVE.
Yeah. It comes out March 2020.
(08:30):
Sixth, It looks beautiful. It looks a little bit like like
a lot of the modern RPGs you play nowadays, kind of has a a
little bit of an elder ring feel, but look to it.
But also mainly like what was the one that everybody went
crazy over that people liked? I can't remember that came out a
few years ago. Kingdom is an Amalur I was
(08:51):
thinking. Like Oh yeah, looks.
A little bit like that. Dude, it's so fast, like when he
was just like we're, you know, going for that Devil May cry
style of like that stylized action with the subscription
gang man, I was just like, oh, this is quick.
This is literally up my alley. Like I full on love it.
(09:11):
That's. Dope.
All right, question with a question of a four now, right?
Yes, question #4 Eddie, it's a two-part question.
What is the the best thing you like about this year in gaming?
And what's the worst thing like about this year in gaming?
What you hate about this year ingaming?
The best thing that I love aboutgaming this year is Stephie, the
(09:35):
Nintendo Switch to the release, the games that's coming out, the
support that's coming from it. It's, you know, getting the
debate stuff is going to probably be the worst thing
about it. And I'll get to that in a in a
bit, but like the switch to continuing what it's predator
(09:56):
did and people wanted their third party games come to the
system like switch to is, is is so fun to have with the
controller and everything. And I'm good and it's good to
see the sales and stuff. So to me, the best gaming moment
or gaming thing is Switch to thebad thing about it is the
debates of the game car key and physical versions and people
(10:20):
using that as, you know, to giveviews or clicks and stuff.
And you know, for collectors andeverything, they feel like this
isn't, you know, a full game or anything.
I have a lot of game key cards. And I think what people don't
understand is, is that you put the game card in, it downloads
once. And every time you put the game
(10:42):
card in, it's like you got a game on a card.
There's no streaming, there's nowaiting for it to upload and
stuff like that. It's literally you put the card
in, you start the game like it was anything else and just play
it, you know? So it's, no, I mean, it's no
different than a digital game. And so trying to worry about a
(11:05):
license and stuff for it. Well, guess what?
If the license is pulled for thedigital game, you still can't
play it then. But they make sure that whether
you got a digitally or physically for a game and
definitely with the game key card, it will always be in your
library for you to use. So even if they did take it off
the the network, you could stillput your game card, key card in
(11:28):
and still play the game. So but the debate for it, the
debate for it to me is kind of like non cynical for it.
I think that's the kind of the worst thing.
Yeah, people losing their jobs and stuff.
I'm so used to the job losing stuff and video games it it's no
surprise at this moment. That is a good point.
Like it's the game key card conversation has been one that's
(11:52):
kind of taking over in terms of a little bit of the narrative
about the Switch this year. But yeah, something that you
said, it's sad but true. It's like the job loss thing.
It's been happening so long, a lot of people have become numb
to it. Like, you know, every time we
look, somebody's losing their job, companies getting shut
down, it's like you're sad, but it's like, wow, yeah, wow.
(12:15):
They are not adapting to the situation.
They're not adjusting. These companies are adjusting to
make sure that people aren't losing their jobs.
So it's kind of what can you really do?
Sucks. Right, it's and what is up
happening those people in the form of these indie companies.
And then that indie company becomes successful and their
game becomes successful, which is gets to getting to the point
(12:39):
where a lot of AAA studios and stuff to be like a, they may be
the new video game industry and you guys may be the former way
of doing things for gaming. OK, I like that answer.
All right, question #5-A give meone game that you think that has
(13:00):
been slept on by a lot of peoplethis year.
A game that has been slept on a lot for this year.
Oh, stopped by midnight. That is a great.
Answer I I that game and I haven't I haven't on my Series X
and I am playing it. I mean, I'm gonna get back into
(13:21):
playing it, but I think for whatthey did with the what not
comparison, what is the comes up, I cannot think of their name
for it. I want to say compression, but
it's not that that game, you know, from its art style, the
(13:44):
stop motion juicage being like aaction adventure game.
It it's really good. And I think a lot of people just
slept on it. And I don't think it's by I
mean, I don't think it's becauseof the black protagonist or
female protagonist. I think people trust they had
some people have a thing againstMicrosoft at this time for their
(14:10):
own personal reasons and I thinkthat's a game that people trust
full on ignored because it was aMicrosoft game.
But I've played it and I definitely enjoyed it.
I'm enjoying it. I'm going to be giving it more
time later this year before before the end of the year and
everything, but I I think peoplejust like really slept on how
(14:33):
great that game is. I agree, one of the was a really
great game. I love it a lot, has a lot of
heart to it. I kind of feel, I know this is
going to be a hot take, but I don't think this is really a hot
take at all. I think it should come to
Switch. I really think they should bring
the Switch. Knowing Microsoft, I think they
will if if Microsoft really wantthem.
(14:58):
Like I keep saying this, I'm sorry everybody, but if
Microsoft really want those coins they got to get their
games on Switch or switch to definitely switch to.
I really think that's a game that will probably do very well
if it's multi platform and give more people the opportunity to
play it and see what how interesting how unique that game
is as opposed to some of the other games that came out this
(15:19):
year. Yeah, if the game feels very old
school in his game play and stuff like that, but the story
of the game is riveting. The atmosphere is very unique to
to the environment and I think alot of people would get into it
and give that game a, a, a second chance in life, I think.
And yeah, and I and I get, you know, Microsoft's getting a lot
(15:39):
of Flack this year, rightfully so for many things, right.
Microsoft has been making move that hasn't been necessarily fan
friendly in terms of like, if you've been a Microsoft gamer
for 1012 years and then you start seeing that, you know, die
hard Microsoft supporter and youstart seeing all the games you
love go third party. You're like, well, what about
(16:01):
me, the person who's been supporting you for years?
What happened to me and what happened to the games that I
thought was. Well, that that's been the
discussion of who people let slide and who does it because of
Sony did when Sony was doing thesame thing and, you know, put in
their games on PC, there wasn't a blip of any arguments or
(16:22):
upset. The only time that the Sony
community really got mad about that is with Death Strategy and
Days Gone. But the PC I'm like, but those
are gay. Those are two games that you as
a PlayStation community ignore now that the PC community.
That they they really did get mad at and they don't even care
about now the show. When MLP, the show came to
(16:47):
Microsoft, Sony fans had a fit about it.
They were pissed. They didn't have to.
They don't even talk about the show anymore.
The show at one point was the game that everybody talked
about. It was the best baseball.
It's not the best baseball game around.
They talked about it everywhere.Every time you look at Sony fan
would talk about how great the show was as APS 5, PS game
(17:10):
exclusive and stuff like that. Once that thing became third
party, you don't hear nothing about the show anymore.
So this is the this is the thingfor this show.
I don't think it's been popular for a long time.
And the only reason I'm saying this and people might want to
prove me wrong and you can if you want to, when every time the
show, we knew that the show was coming out and and just being on
(17:34):
a PlayStation system working that towards R Us in the past,
every time the show came out, nobody was talking about.
I didn't see no marketing. I didn't see sales for it.
I know it hit like sudden milestones and everything it it
dropped and nobody talked about it or anything.
So there could be another game on another system or go ahead.
(17:56):
I think the thing with the show is kind of like the thing with
2K and stuff like that. The people who are going to play
2K and play Madden and play the show are going to play those
games. It's not going to reach a
different audience or anything like that because sports fans or
sports fans, they're going to play that game and only
sometimes only that game. It the same thing kind of with
college football. College football got that big
(18:17):
wave of people playing it because that's what they wanted
to play, but those college football fans aren't going to
necessarily go out there and buy, say, Breath of the Wild or
something. Else, So it kind of feels like
there's been a Switch and that kind of market that the sports
games now are the niche games and the Japanese RPGs and action
(18:40):
adventures or even Nintendo games are like the mainstream
mainstays that people are talking.
Because I've, like I said, I found a lot of people who are
different players or different drivers of gangs and every time
sports games come up, nothing. Yes, you're right.
I think that people just don't talk about sports games like
that. But I do remember there was a
(19:02):
conversation about the show for a while, because the show was
PlayStation exclusive. It was always one of those
games. People always tell like, hey,
PlayStation got this great sports game that Microsoft
doesn't have, and ever since that kind of went away, those
same people don't even mention the show anymore.
Yeah. Because the show was still
great. And, and the, and the thing
(19:23):
about it is people were mad at Sony, but Sony said the MLB has
the right to say this in order for us to cut, to keep the
license, for us to even make theshow.
MLB has all the say. So if they want to expand this
this IP to other systems, to Nintendo, PC and Xbox or your
(19:45):
wrong ally or anything like that, they have the right to say
it because it's their license. We're paying them to use their
license to put out a game for us.
So when MLB makes the decisions, they make the decisions.
We make the game and we put it out X Microsoft, Nintendo give
us the development case so we can make the game and bam, there
(20:06):
you go. Yeah, that's all.
And no, And nobody, nobody won'tsay anything about it.
I'm like, you got to talk to theMLB, not talk to the MLB, but
you got to force your concerns to the MLB for making that
decision, not Sony. Yeah, I don't think MLB Show,
MLB cares anything about that because they're making money
now. They're making more money now.
They the whole audience of people they weren't reaching
(20:27):
before. And because they're the only
show in town, you know, pardon the pun, but because they're
only show in town, they're goingto, they're going to guarantee
more sales because there's no other baseball game you really
can get. So putting it will be the show
on Switch to which they should do already there, but it's not
already out there now. Or Xbox.
I think next year it will be. It would probably be on it
(20:50):
because the gang came out. They get April, March or April
before it switched to came out. So they're probably be French,
but then but the MLB and Sony started seeing those those
coins, that money because peoplewere buying it for I mean, they
were doing Game Pass for Xbox, but some people bought it, but
they were still buying it on PlayStation and people were
(21:11):
definitely going out buying the physical for Switch when it when
it happened. So so.
Yeah, I think it's great. So Eddie, I brought you here
because you being the Nintendo fan, I want to talk about the
year in general that Nintendos have.
I think this has been a banner year for them to say the least.
And I think it's really cool that years ago when you were on
(21:35):
this show, you've been on the show countless, sometimes after
that, but conversation about Nintendo was almost like not not
by you, but the mainstream on the Nintendo's doing their
thing. They're kind of unleash console
out of the three, you know, and now we're at the time, we're at
(21:56):
a point in time where Switch onesales have surpassed Xbox and
PlayStation easily. Switch 2 sales are on that same
track because they're they're selling crazy.
And it's kind of say what you want to about Nintendo.
Nintendo's the market leader right now, and it's been the
(22:17):
market leader for quite some time.
It's Nintendo has changed the whole video.
I was listening to a podcast called get play Heather Ed
Campbell, one of the Co hosts was just like, if it wasn't for
Nintendo Wii wouldn't have the systems that we have today, like
the handheld console hybrid space.
(22:40):
Like you wouldn't have your Steam Deck, you wouldn't have
your rock allies or whatever, you know, Microsoft and so they
wouldn't have it's, you know, portable stuff.
It's it's literally up to it's literally Nintendo that changed
the change the industry from, you know, when people were still
looking down on Nintendo and thinking it was baby gangs to
(23:04):
now everybody want their gangs on Nintendo on Switches Switch
to now, so they could play thosegames and take it on the go and
everything like Nintendo change how we play and giving us more
access on what we can play and how we go about that.
(23:24):
You know, Nintendo, you know, definitely with their first
party games and having a big library and even if we releases
some games are upraising and remaster or whatever to put it
on switches switch to you know, that make people want collection
games or you know, you know, theeven the arcade scene.
(23:45):
Like go back and look at how people reacted when the Capcom
marvel Marvel versus Capcom collection came out.
Like look how people reacted to getting that announcement.
You know, that's something that Sony and or Microsoft should
have been fighting for and they didn't.
Nintendo got that and now just like, look how big and how well
(24:10):
that game. So, you know, some people could
played, some people could play Marvel versus Capcom 2 again.
I think it's really good seeing the moves that Nintendo's making
out and I I think it's really healthy.
Then at a time, which I also want to talk to you about, in a
time where you see Xbox basically going third party, you
(24:32):
see the other console not only going third party, but
increasing their prices to a substantial amount in this
economy. You also see PlayStation kind of
doing the same thing. Not to the degree of Microsoft
is yet, but it is only assume that's going to come.
Nintendo releases the console that's a little bit more
(24:54):
expensive, but still affordable for the common man and the
common family. I think that's what's kind of
resonates to some people so, so much.
I think it's really cool that we're in a climate where
Nintendo can do that and when when the price first got
announcement, which two people were having their problems with
them and stuff like that. But now it's just pretty much a
whole turn around. Nintendo's had a has had a
(25:16):
banner year in terms of marketing, in terms of releasing
this console and in terms of thequality of games they put out
this year. So what I wanted to ask what we
saying all that stuff. The question I have for you is
(25:37):
one, what do you think is next for Nintendo?
And two, have you enjoyed this year thus far with everything is
going on? And also three because I almost
forgot. How do you feel about the state
of video games today? OK, so let's I guess we got to
take off 1 by 1. So the what's your first
(26:01):
question again? The first one.
OK, let's go with let's, let's go with the easy one, hot one.
What? Let's go with How do you feel
about the Nintendo games this year so far and how Nintendo's
been doing. So I think Nintendo been has
been doing great. You know, of course people want
(26:22):
to argue about the price of, butwhatever their first party
lineup has been like just amazing, so good.
You can't go wrong with duck andcome banana.
You know, people say, well, banana, you know, that's like we
there's something about Nintendosaying it's like if there's a
phrase or something from a Nintendo game or even a sound
(26:45):
effect, you're going to be usingit repeatedly throughout, you
know, the year or just your livelihood and stuff.
But they come Vanessa. It's just so good and so
engrossing. I'm playing harbor warriors, age
of imprisonment and Kobe Tecmo snaps with this game like it's
(27:06):
it runs so smooth and it's so great fighting and everything.
Mario Kart world is still such adelight.
And regardless if you guys want to steal and buy Mario Kart 8,
you know, you're still putting money and tuning it to those
pockets. So, you know, that's smart
business. And they said, oh, we're missing
$10. OK, that's fine.
(27:26):
You still clocking us giving us coins.
You know, people have done the update stuff for Breath of the
Wild and Tips of the Kingdom. In fact, because of age of
imprisonment air, people are ready to go back to Tips of the
Kingdom and and everything. You know, we got Metroid Prime
for beyond coming out and everybody is super exciting for
(27:47):
that. You know, Silk Song dropped
early, even though that's more Eddie and everything everybody
was ready to play. That game is definitely on
Switch to like it's been such anamazing year for Nintendo.
Third parties in Indies with their games coming to that
platform and this. And you know, if you're looking
(28:09):
at the MPD, I'm just using that for example, I know it's a
different name or even the Japanese listings of games being
ranked by sales. Nintendo still having a great
year. It's still still, you know,
running so well. So yeah, I think Nintendo's just
been killing it. And me and Corey, we talked on
(28:33):
Nintendo Pop Block that Capcom can't even switch Resident Evil
Requiem because like if you lookat the announcement of that game
and then when it got announced at the Nintendo Direct, right,
right. Is it every time you see the
marketing for that game, the Nintendo Switch 2 is the first
(28:54):
one. Yeah, when they even when it was
go. Ahead, very important thing that
you you mentioned that we even talked about like how that has
kind of changed like that they are highlighting that this game,
Resident Evil Requiem, this is abig game for Capcom and put it
get in front with the Switch to like this is what you're going
to play here. This is the game that you need
(29:14):
to be buying for your Switch team.
I think that's amazing. Even the the collection that's
that's been planned for 7-8 and nine, you know, for seven
village and work real like they're making effort to, you
know, get this release and the smirking out for us too.
(29:36):
You would think that it would befor Xbox and PlayStation and
it's just like, shoot, I've seenmore I've seen more
announcements in marketing for Resident Evil work room for
Switch 2 then I seen from PragueModda for PlayStation 5.
And it's just like what's going on Capcom is is, is is there
something that you and Nancy gotthat, you know, dedicated money,
(30:02):
dedicated coins is coming your way.
What's that game release? I think Pi think they are
realizing that switch with the install base to switch one hat
and Capcom gave some games to it.
They gave some good games to it,but they didn't give the games
to it. I I would say probably, you
know, probably because you know, switch couldn't run those game
(30:25):
time. So they had the cloud versions
of the game, stuff like that. Now with Switch 2, they can
bring the the actual version andput it on a game key card or
cartridge and stuff like that. It's kind of it's a little
different ball game now. I think it's really cool that
cut count is all in with these games and kind of just highlight
like, hey, this the place to play these games, especially
considering historically Nintendo's third party has been
(30:51):
with exception, like, you know, the earlier consoles.
It's been spiraging to say the least, like, you know, we you
the touristy didn't get any great third party.
Even the we hey, it's got some third party, but not as much as
it should have gotten as opposedto the other as compared to the
other two consoles. With this console, it seems like
a lot of the third party companies are back in, and
they're back all in, say the least.
(31:13):
Plus they know where the money is at.
That's the thing about it for them they'd know where the money
money is at. If you if you look past where
even the VU PS4 slash PS3 360 slash Xbox One days that and we
made you had this discussion that they will put their big
(31:34):
games on Xbox and PlayStation because they believe that with
those bigger, you know, but those bigger communities, they
can make more money. It's all about business to them
and make more money where Nintendo is just like, well,
we'll use the excuse of we're competing with them.
(31:54):
So we we do give them game. We're going to move, we move
these features and we're going to delay their game and just
give them something just to say that we did.
But then you look at Switch and the record amount of gangs this
the Indies were getting rich. The third unexpected third party
(32:15):
we're getting rich was Doom, a game that came out on Xbox One
that did good and everything. You get 1,000,000 sales of this
game unexpectedly. Diablo 3 is doing banking
numbers. You seen all of these indie
gangs doing banking numbers, making money.
(32:38):
Limited Run is getting their business off the ground because
they're selling out of the Nintendo Connection versions of
their games. Like if you weren't going to be
putting your stuff on Nintendo Switch, you might as well close
shop because Nintendo, the Switch was showing people you
could get, you could put a game on our system.
If it works well and you put a physical out, people are going
(33:01):
to double dip, which is going tomake your business expand.
And it did, you know, just like that.
So you're seeing money come in. So even though you got the
powerful systems, they saw consoles, the game numbers not
matching. You mean you got 50 some million
(33:22):
consoles out and you're only sending about 2 million copies
and that stop. Yeah, you got you just not.
Oh, go ahead. So I would say I think you're
correct. I think that switches opening up
another Ave. for people to purchase games and it's like a
lot of times, like you said, like even me, I'm a perfect
example of it. Sometimes I buy like, well, at
(33:45):
least last, I guess, not even last customer generation because
it's still going on. But I used to buy like with the
which one I'd buy like a switch one version.
I bought APS 5 version because, you know, PS 5 has a higher
resolution, the frame rate. So I play that one at home and
then I buy a switch version. Dude, just carry with me Now.
I feel like I can just buy the Switch 2 version and be done
with it now. Right and it's and it is I'm not
(34:10):
trying to disbarge Microsoft players.
I'm not trying to disbarge the Sony community or anything, but
a system that people thought I'mjust talking about Switch one
right now that was going they thought this was going to be the
last system that was going to fail.
There was going to be no third party.
I'm like, these are where all the arcade games are coming.
These are where all these original IPS are coming.
(34:32):
You know the dead sales Hades, like all these games that were
early access on PC, they're getting their first release on
on the Switch. When them must announced dead
sales was coming was officially going to be released on a
Nintendo Switch in August. Who in the world was going to be
(34:55):
like I'm waiting for the physical to come.
I will pre-order this game. I'll buy the digital if I feel
like I need to, but I will pre-order this physical and
people waited for that physical. They did it with Metroid prime
remastered Hades 2. I mean, I Hades 2 Hades, I think
almost took, I think took game of the year for some places
like, you know, stuff that earlyaccess games that was on PC that
(35:19):
was out when they came to Switchwas doing numbers, you know, So
it was just like I, I, I look back at the guy who made this,
this comment about Titanfall 2 not coming to Switch and
everything and just being who heis and just saying, well, the
(35:41):
sister can't do this and that. And it's just like, OK, that's
completely fine. So you know, Titanfall 2A game
that I love. I'm like, yeah, it, it was a
great game that didn't do numbers.
Then all the other company gangsthat's coming out to the system
on Switch is doing numbers and surpassing Titanfall 2 and it's
(36:02):
just like it's just proven to him and EA just be like you guys
are so on your high horse that you thinking that this that you
should be only be making money and y'all losing money like
crazy while everybody else is getting rich on the Nintendo
switch. I I think it's really
interesting that we're starting like you, like squares.
(36:24):
Perfect example of what happenedtoday.
We're starting to see like screens like Hey, we're going to
just we released this two way the game that did good, but we
wanted to do better. Let's release it on Switch too
and see and for 20. Dollars, well, actually, well
actually it that's not square and it's it's expired.
Expired, expired now. Yes, that's correct.
Thank you. Yeah, but but guess what?
(36:48):
It's great that you mentioned Square Enix because don't forget
Square Enix and Nintendo broke up during the in 64 days and
it's the way from Square Enix toeven come back to Nintendo.
Now. Look at all of the original IPS
and mini games. Octopad Traveler, Octopad
Traveler, one or two Triangle Strategy, like all of these
other games Square Enix was makeis making their money off of
(37:09):
Nintendo. There's more Square Enix games
on Nintendo Switch than I think on any other console.
Like, that's the games coming back there.
I mean, it's square. Indies probably have 15% of
Nintendo's library. Like if you go back and you look
at Live Alive, like game that was only released in Japan and
that never came out here did numbers, you know, it's just
(37:32):
like, so it it's kind of amazingto see that people who doubt
that the Nets that Nintendo should go third party or it's
going to fail. Just like no, Nintendo's
innovative. They like to do what they do.
And if they change the industry, they change the industry, you
know? I.
Agree and and they and they saved a lot of companies.
(37:53):
Yeah, I, I appreciate that you said something that that we that
we didn't touch on enough about how the Nintendo Switch caused
other companies to pivot and release their own handhelds
after they saw how good the Switch did.
Like, you know, we had it's no Switch and it did really well.
Then we got the Steam Deck, thenthe Ally and then the Legion go,
(38:18):
then I think it's Ms. What? It's MSI.
I think so, yeah. And we got a multitude of other
handhelds. And it's cool that Switch to is
kind of like, OK, it's the, it'skind of the counter to those
handhelds. But that's because it's just the
more powerful Switch. But it's just enough, powerful,
just enough to make you say, youknow what, at that price, we'll
(38:41):
just stick with what we got and.And the, the switch brought back
life to Val in a sense. You know, Val as a company.
Of course they, they're, they'remaking their business off Steam.
You know, they're not, they're not making money off of their
games because there's, there's not me a lot of them, but
(39:02):
they're making their money off of Steam.
On our recent Nintendo Power block, we talked about the Steam
machine, you know, their consolestuff and I'm worried about it.
You know, I, I don't think it's going to do what, what Val wants
it to do because Val had alreadyput out a console before and it
(39:25):
failed, you know, and so they'regoing, they're trying to put out
a console because now they have a bigger market due to the Steam
day and due to people getting into PC games.
But you know, people really got into Steam and Valve themselves
with the Steam back because of Nintendo Switch, you know, so
(39:47):
it's like and stuff and gave me a Steam Deck verified and you
know, you get to play Xbox stuffand PlayStation stuff.
Like all of these games and everything like that changed
that whole landscape. And so it now puts Steam in a
new vision for PC players and people who wanted to get into PC
(40:07):
game. I think when it comes to the, I
guess what it's called, the Steam, what is the console
called? The Steam, what is it going to
be called? Steam Machine.
The state when it comes to the Steam Machine, I think price is
a key factor to it. They have to be the right price.
But I think it's going to be more of a thing where it's going
(40:28):
to be an entry level, much like the Steam Deck was to PC game.
And I don't think everybody's going to get it.
I think it's going to do, it's going to do OK, but I don't
think it's going to hit the numbers it's going to people
expected to hit. I think it'll probably hit like
the same numbers as the Steam Steam Deck would like, you know,
3 to 5 million. It'll do solid sales like that,
but I I don't think it's going to be like the world I find like
people think it's going to be. But what it will do is I think
(40:51):
what it does do is it gives people another console to have
in their house and another way to buy steam games.
I feel like if this thing is if the parts for it are the right
price and they don't overshoot those parts and they can make
these things for affordable price, making good profit of it,
it'd be a good secondary consoleto have for your house.
So yeah, secondary or third console they have in your house
(41:16):
alongside with the Switch too. Like, hey, this thing right
here, this Steam Machine is something good enough for me to
do PC gaming with. And I think that's the really
cool thing about that's why I like it personally.
That's why I like Steam Deck personally, because Steam Deck,
if you are a person who wanted to always play PC games.
So the cool thing about PC games, there are so many like
exclusive games that just come to PC that never really reach
(41:37):
consoles and and you know, also steam games are relatively can
always find them on sale for really cheap.
You know, the back the catalog of steam games is almost endless
because there's always a whole bunch of old games that's on
there and they still just have amarketplace you can buy.
And it's really cool that we still have that.
And I would like to see that getsupported more.
(42:00):
I would like them. I would like more companies to
kind of take that same thing andjust got to make a thing.
I know PlayStation, Nintendo arestart are starting to do that
with like, you know, you can play all your old backlog
catalog games, stuff like that. That's a big thing and I I think
we need to see that more often. Like, hey, if there's this game
(42:20):
that came out, let's see 10 years ago, I would love to be
able to go on the switch store and still see that game there
for me to buy. And that's nothing.
That's a good thing about steam for the most part, long with the
game doesn't get taken down because, you know, licenses and
stuff like that. It's pretty much still there, or
you still can find a copy of thegame.
(42:40):
Which I, which I think what that, what makes the difference
between Steam and Nintendo and everybody else is that what I
love about Nintendo is that whenyou go to NSO online, you put it
on what systems that you're playing that game at.
They have unreleased femicom andJapanese games.
Steam doesn't have that, you know, from third party.
(43:03):
There's there's games that can'tthat, that you know, had a had a
chance to come to Nintendo but never gotten localized and stuff
that's now on the Switch. And so, so if Steam could do the
same thing to be like, hey, go hit up these markets and try to
get some gangs that maybe they are finished but got shelf bring
(43:26):
them exclusive. That's that's the thing I've
been arguing about Game Pass. I'm like, make Game Pass even
more exciting by breaking stuff that is finished that's never
been released and have it on your platform.
And the only way that you could play is if you subscribe to us
to play this game. Yeah, that would be interesting.
(43:47):
I I, I, I would like if more game, more companies would like,
hey, here's our unreleased game and you can play it as it is.
You can see a, a commentary on that game and why we didn't get
released the game or something, especially the games that like
are almost done or done and you just never released them.
And there's no like valid reasonwhy the game never got released.
(44:10):
Like what was it? NBA?
What was the game called? It was a basketball game that
was on PS3 for EA that never gotreleased.
NBA Elite. Yeah, it was completely done and
they just never released it. I would have loved to see that
come out or find a way for somebody to be, you know, put
(44:30):
that game on for people to say and, you know, give commentary
behind like, like almost like a director's cut.
There are so many games that just never came out that we
don't get any reasons, reasons behind with the story behind the
game. What were the other games?
Scale bound. Scale bound, yeah, but scale
bound never got finished. That's the thing about it.
But I would love like you can, like, I would think it'd be
(44:52):
pretty cool if you can like buy a digital documentary on it.
You can play certain levels of the game or The Last of Us did
something like that. In terms of, I think it was The
Last of Us 2 where you can, the PS-5 version where you can play
unfinished levels of the game. It's kind of like a director's
(45:14):
cut of the game you get for you to play from unfinished levels
and see certain cutscenes that was supposed to be in the game
that got cut. I like little stuff like that,
and I think that more companies should do stuff exactly like
that. Or, or make those games that,
you know, if you if you ended upgetting one game successful and
(45:34):
there's another game that's justbeen waiting on the shelf to be
finished and stuff, use that money to finish that game and
just put it out. Make it a little, you know, make
it like almost like AEP in a sense, you know, give it like 5
or 6 levels, put it out. It could be 9 to 10 hours long
(45:56):
and make it affordable and everything we like.
We weren't able to tell the fullstory, but here's a game now
that we turned into a short story of a game.
Yeah. Yeah, that.
Would be really cool. Let me ask you a question and I
think this is the perfect subject for us to end on because
we got a lot of a lot of different things here.
(46:18):
What do you think this actually this is what I was going to talk
about. What do you think of the state
of gaming right now where everything is you know all the
prices are going up. You know, tariffs has been some
of the issues, the like a chip cost, stuff like that, where you
have all these consoles going up, the price of games itself
are going up. And what do you just in general,
(46:39):
what do you think of the state of gaming?
So I think with the state of gaming, nothing's changed in
reality. And, and the reason why I say
nothing's really changed is because this is a just from this
year is another year of great, amazing, some new IPS, some
(47:02):
existing sequels of games. So, you know, yeah, the prices
has changed, have changed, but the experience have been, you
know, just completely mind blowing and amazing.
And it got people talking. There's more games to talk
about, you know what's going to be game of the year, but what
(47:22):
sudden, you know, game is leading this this genre and
stuff. You know, people cosplayed a lot
as from Expedition 33 or how like that change the indie space
for RVGS. It's like this is nothing that's
new. It's just been more exciting.
I will say for the first time, there's literally any kind of
(47:46):
nominations for worst game of the year.
And I know people want to buy a bag of Mine's Eye, but I'm like,
Mine's Eye might be more of an average B tier, C tier kind of
game, but it's just like, yeah, it hasn't had its problems, but
like there's a lot of games thathad its problems and stuff.
I'm like, but I'm like, it's a single player of action game
(48:10):
that you can still play, get something out of it and
literally enjoy. You know, if, if it goes on sale
for 20 some dollars or or something that people find
reasonable and want to pick it up and give it a try.
I think with, with a lot of fixes, why not do it and give
that game a try? Like I, I really can't tell you
(48:31):
what is a worst game of the year, you know, of, of this
year. There's been so much greatness
across the board that it's even hard.
I, you know, I, I just did my voiding for the game awards and
I had to choose different placesof games and stuff that I
haven't played and stuff. Now you know, for me, of course,
(48:51):
I haven't finished expedition 33or 33 yet, but I'm, I'm excited
to play it. I know that's a lot of people's
game of the year award, but likeI'm I'm ready for metro prime
for beyond. I'm loving Hey, not Halo.
I'm loving harbor warrior about on series X top tier.
(49:14):
That's like one of my that's like one of my best games for
series X Love that game. So by midnight was good.
Ninja Gaiden 4 is crazy action. Dune, the Dark ages, it's crazy
action. I'm loving hearing everybody
talk about dispatch and and everything.
(49:36):
And I just like yeah. And I'm like, I need you to come
to switch and I need you to. I need you to come over here.
Come on, touch Sirius X. There's like some great.
There's a game called Fresh Tracks by one of our new
favorite studios here at Boss Rush Buffalo Buffalo Games
that's like it's mixing rogue like skiing with house beats and
(50:03):
rock beats with music and everything.
And I got to see them at PAX East and they released their
game. They their game is out.
I got to talk to them at PAX WI actually played the PlayStation
5 ration. So it's and it's amazing game.
I can't wait for the series X ration and let's be Bob in my
head banging it be like this is a debut game for you guys and us
(50:24):
at boss Rush support this because not only is the level of
designs so good, the music is phenomenal.
Like, oh, you getting me? It's my sister race to dancing
with again, like like just straight bangers and everything.
So it's so and there's just a lot of stuff people have not
(50:49):
realized. I think that's why like this
year just at PAX East and West and sorry, I'm bringing PAX up
so much. There was so much that I got to
experience from Canada and like Japan and from all different
places. It's in May this year in making
2026 more exciting because there's so many great games and
(51:11):
amazing, phenomenal gangs, top tier gangs and I I just feel
like that's what I felt this year.
It's just like there's so much greatness and amazing and top
tier gangs that there's, if you want to make somebody feel like
the there's a worst game of the year, you can, but that's hard
to do with so much selections throughout the year.
(51:32):
It's not just the fall, it's throughout the year.
You could you could back on Pokémon Legend ZA if you want
to, but there are people who came away from that game loving
it. And those people are me.
You know, but like Ghost of YourTie, phenomenal game, even
though I haven't played it yet, but I'm like hearing everybody
(51:54):
talk about that game. Yeah, I'm like, well, of course
you got who's the developer? Ghost of Your Tie, they get
Insomniac, Sucker Punch. Yeah, Sucker Punch top tier, top
tier developer that Sony don't really like like like mention a
lot. You know, of course Naughty Dog,
(52:16):
Naughty Dog to them is the Nintendo of Sony in the sense
and the soniac. It's like right underneath
neither, but sucker punch shoot,I'm I I need infamous.
I need an infamous remake or infamous two remake like what's
those like of those who dropped right now?
Oh, Sony would be in a good state, but it's just like Sucker
(52:38):
Punch been making hot titles andstuff.
Kojima production with death strategy too.
Like as wacky as that game is and hearing about it, it's
phenomenal in a lot of reasons. I could see why it got a lot of
eight point fives and nines or even 10s or, you know, whatever.
That game is phenomenal in its own right.
(53:00):
You know, Kojima and his cup andKojima productions, they they on
their team. I'm and I'm not going to deny
I'm going to give them their props.
So I kind of feel like this year, like the gaming space is
just like has been great, just amazing.
And I think when people like, ifyou want to argue stuff and
(53:21):
argue like the prices of the game, key cards and all that
stuff, that's so my new like, itdoesn't even matter.
And people, I mean, people are still saying if you, if you
enjoyed what you played this year and that's your personal
game of the year, that's awesome.
(53:43):
And and that's that that verbiage is still going to
continue for the rest of game, you know, so I, I think right
now, just like the amazing games, someone said, if you are
on social media complaining about games and don't play
those, play and finish those many games, you're really just
(54:06):
wasting a lot of time. You know, I, you know, so like
for me, it's, it's just been such a great scene time and
there's still titles that I havewrapped up that I need to play,
I need, I'm so ready to play David next.
I'm not gonna a sequel. I have it.
I got the collection. I need to take it out and play
(54:26):
because I'm super excited to play that game.
That's great, yeah. Final question, Eddie, what is
your most anticipated game for 2026?
Most anticipated game? Well, it ain't Grand Theft Auto
6, I can tell you that right now.
(54:47):
You could throw that one right in the garbage.
I know I'm I want to be for the Rockstar.
I'm, I'm to think about this. I could I, I'm going to pick,
I'm going to be buying it and picking up and playing it.
And so I think my most anticipated game right now.
(55:08):
Goodness, I do want to play Marvel's Wolverine.
I do want to play that. It's like in the PlayStation 5,
I'm thinking I'm have to say that Fire Emblem game, the Fire
Emblem game, the next one that'scoming from Nintendo, I'm super
(55:31):
excited for to play. OK, that's yeah.
So I do want to play Prague model that that one I'm really
anticipated. I really want to play.
And on the moose shoot, I want to play this like some Capcom
stuff. I do want to play, but right now
it's the Fire Emblem game. I'm super excited for some how
(55:53):
much prepared for it and so nextmonth.
So it's like I'm I'm so much goodness is coming out next
month. It's ridiculous on top of like
the next three months is insane.December, January and February.
It's just bonkers. It is.
Alright, Eddie, man, it's been great, bro.
