Speaker 1 (00:03):
Eagles fans, this is how it all went down in
the Motor City. Job Sweat with the first sack of
the day on Jerikoff, Boston Scott rant it in for
a touchdown. Sweat Senna. One's not enough, Let's go for
two areas wrapping up Jarek Goff again, Derek Barnett said,
you can't have all the fun party at the quarterback today.
Then Jordan Howard welcome to the end zone, finds then

(00:25):
zone four touchdown, Milton Williams, the rookie getting his first
sack of his career, and Boston Scott in the third quarter.
He wanted to run it in again, so he picked
up his second touchdown of the day. Jordan Howard said,
you can't have two. He goes in for another himself.
Now here it is the big play. Here's some tricker
treat on your Halloween. Jerikoff looking for DeAndre Swift. Avante

(00:47):
Maddox punches it out Darius Slay for the scoop and score,
returning to Detroit in the way that only Darius Slay knows.
How Eagles fans welcome into the postgame show presented by Rico.
I'm Gabriella Degiovanni here with friends. Off the end, I agree,
we gotta win. We gotta win. Fellas it looked good.
It was against a winless team. Of course, we can't

(01:08):
kind of tiptoe around that. But the Eagles played well.
They played very well. We saw some guys getting new
opportunities here today and there's definitely bright spots to draw
on too after today. Yeah. I mean, in the NFL,
a win is a win. Doesn't matter how you get
it in the end. As long as you walk away
with the W, you can fly back home feeling good.
And we understand that the Lions were a winless football team.

(01:29):
That's not our fault. The Eagles, coming off of losing
two straight games, certainly came into this game with a
sense of urgency and I like what I saw out
there today. You know, it hadn't even been a close win,
we would have taken it, but we wouldn't have felt
as good about it. You know, to watch them go
out there and play the way they did today, run
the football, play defense the way that they did. This

(01:50):
is what we've been waiting to see all year long
with this team, and hopefully it's something they can build
all full No question, and with what you saw on
both sides of the football offense, defense. Still some things
to clean up on special teams, but I thought with
how dominant they looked on both sides of the football,
plenty to take away here from this one. Well, and
the big story this week was yes, of course Detroit
is and seven, but you couldn't count them out. They

(02:10):
played the La Ram's tough last week and so this
was a big game for the Eagles. They had to
come out here and win. But they not only won
like you said, they did it in dominant fashion and
a huge part of that is the defense and that
run game we finally saw today. Yeah, I think they
did it by matching or even surpassing. Since the urgency
that the Lions, we thought the Lions may come in

(02:32):
and play with again the Eagles on the road. This
is a game that they needed and I love the
mindset that they played with today. Forget about the Lions
record of being o and seven. You know, you take
on this team like they're seven and o team and
you don't give them any room. And they ran the football.
We played a physical style of football. We talked about
the Lions wanting to establish that sort of brand of football.

(02:53):
But it was the Eagles today with their running game,
allowing this offensive line to really just tee off on
that Lions on seven. And you don't know if this
was one of the things that played into this, but
I know, like you've been in locker rooms where leading
into a game, there's going to be the talk about
the opponent, how tough they are, how physical are, how
competitive they are, And then you guys in the locker room,
we're like, well, no one's talking about us and how

(03:14):
tough we are and how physical we are. I kind
of wonder if that played into this one a little bit,
because that was the big discussion point everywhere here this
week leading into this game. Let's talk about that defensive front.
They're wrapping up a ton of sacks today. They were blitzing,
there was quarterback hits, a lot of pressure. That was
a very bright spot in this game today and it
was good to see it wasn't just Josh Sweat, right,

(03:36):
you saw Hassan Ridgeway. You saw who else getting this
shot today. And I think that is a huge positive
for this defense, who especially in the past a couple
of weeks, they've been receiving a lot of criticism for
lack of pressure, if you will, but they came out
showing in today. Yeah, and I think we ought to
give these coaches credit, right, I mean, they've taken heat

(03:56):
there in their first year. Everybody wants everybody leaves. They
have the game plan to beat the opponents, and our
coaches this year, they are growing each week, right. So
we saw a little bit of that last week versus
the Vegas Raiders, quarterback under center showing some different things.
I like that that carried over into this week as well.
We saw a lot more of that on the offensive

(04:17):
side of the ball. But when you're talking about Jonathan
Gannet and the defense, the ability to bring pressure from
the second level. We saw multiple linebacker blitzes today. Jared
Golf didn't have a lot of time back there in
the pocket, and hopefully it's something that they can build on.
But you have to gain the trust of the coach
that when he dials these blitzes up, they aren't going
to result in big plays, explosive plays, and today was

(04:39):
the day to dial them up. Jared Golf not wanting
to throw the ball down the field, he just had
no time back there to play quarterback today, And I
was really interested coming into this one. What would the
defensive approach be, you know, after some of the team,
after some of the defensive players coming out after the
game last week and talking about the approach, and Jonathan
Gannet saying, yeah, like I talked with our guys, got

(04:59):
a sense of what they wanted more of it and
how we can incorporate that into the game plan. What
would the approach be against an offense that we talked
about it this week? When Eagles game plan, they like
to throw underneath. They want to get the ball to
DeAndre Swift, get the ball to TJ. Hockinson. You don't
necessarily need to play so far back against this offense.
What did they do? They came out, they challenged, they
did everything they got. The completions were still there for

(05:20):
the quarterback, but you saw linebackers, safeties, everybody rallying to
the football, limiting yards after catch and getting off the field. Well,
was a much different offense to game plan for. The
Eagles have faced a lot of high power offenses where
they have that deep threat down the field, and the
Eagles have done an excellent job in eliminating those deep passes.
So today the challenge was stopping the run and stopping

(05:40):
those intermediate passes, and that run defense has definitely been
a struggle for the Eagles so far this year. And
they couldn't get the ball going because there was so
much pressure up front. Jared Goff a lot of the
time couldn't even pass it off and so you saw
little glimpses from TJ. Hockinson, but really a quiet day
for DeAndre Swift too. Yeah. I thought the safeties played
close at the line of scrimmage today. I mean, if

(06:02):
t J. Hockenson was going to catch the ball, he
usually was hit immediately after the catch. That lets me
know that Rodney McLeod EPs is playing closer to the
line of scrimmage and breaking on the football. And even
with the backs coming out of the backfield, DeAndre Swift
led the league and running backs with receptions and yards.
So the thing you want to do is rally to
the football, and that's what they were able to do today.

(06:23):
If Jared Golf was going to dump that ball off
the Swift coming out of the backfield, you needed to
get as many guys to the football as possible. I
thought the Eagles were keyed in on the game plan
not as much man defense today, saw a little bit
more zone defense. And I like that because it allows
the defenders to keep their eyes on the quarterback and
when he throws it, they can break on it and
go make tackles. And that's the thing. It's like a

(06:43):
lot of people expected that with the change in the
offensive philosophy that they were facing. With the defensive philosophy
change the way that the Eagles play. You can tweak
a couple of things here and there and still attack
those quick game throws, those intermediate area throws and the
run game. And I think we saw that today. The
big thing they got off the few on third down
and they impact of the quarterback. That was a huge,
huge theme of today's game. Huge. And you have to

(07:05):
you have to talk about Darius Light here. He's been
having a heck of a season, even amongst a lot
of the struggles. Of course, a little scoop and score.
He had to say hello to those Detroit fans that
he spent a long time fling in front of. Yeah,
happy for him. Anytime you get a chance to go
back home and face your old team. And I know
a little bit about that. He certainly want to play well.
The funny thing is I didn't play well when I

(07:27):
came back to Philly to play. That was a bad
game for me and Atlanta Falcone anyone. Yeah, but it
was good to see Slay make a play out there
to day. I know he probably wanted an interception. He
didn't get tested very often his most quarterbacks don't throw
the ball in his area. But Johnny on the spot,
Avonte Maddox, great peanut tillman punch to get that ball
out of there? What does j G call it? The

(07:48):
ball disruption? Yeah, get that ball out of there. Avonte
Maddox able to do that. Darius Slay right there, Johnny
on the spot, scoop and score. Yeah. And I think
that's the big thing is that, you know, when we've
seen the Eagles defense ugle in weeks past, the big
thing was the lack of negative plays. And so whether
you're creating those turnovers like we saw there on that
play by Darius Slay and Fante Maddox, or like we said,

(08:10):
impact the quarterback getting home for sacks and quarterback pressures.
When you have those negative plays, it's a lot easier
to get off the field. You get into third and
long and now all of a sudden, you're forcing three
and outs and four and outs. We saw that early
and often from this defense. All right, we harped on
the defense. Let's go to the offensive side of the ball.
We touched on it in our open here. That run
game very successful today. It was a game of next

(08:32):
man up right. Miles Sanders on the IR. Jalen Rager
was featured in those opening drives actually running the ball,
and then he was ruled out. He was carted off
the field. Big day for Jordan Howard and for Boston
Scott to get in there. Yeah. Kudos to the offensive line,
great job they did today blocking up front. And kudos
and Nick Sirianni and Shane Steiken coming up with a
game plan that would allow them to control the clock.

(08:56):
You're wining on first and second down. We talked about
this as well Fran earlier the week. If you want
to have sustained drives, you want to be able to
spread the ball around, but then you have to convert
on third down, and that starts with winning or getting
positive yards doing first and second down. They were able
to do that today. I thought they stayed in a
lot more third and manageable situations, and it's because they
made a commitment to running the football. And it's easier

(09:19):
for a coach to stick with running in the football
when you're having success running the football, and they were
able to do that today. I mentioned earlier about some
of the formations and play designs that we saw in
the Raiders game that they carried over into this game.
Jalen under center a lot more. I think it's just
it makes the running game a lot better for the
running back when the quarterback is under center, as opposed

(09:41):
to taking it from a shotgun. You can time those
blocks up better, you can let them develop in the
running backs and get the whole Boston Scott, great job
by him today. Game well, Jordan Howard just a real
tremendous job, and even Jalen with some of the quarterback runs.
I just thought it was an all around great effort,
starting with the guys up front, the offensive line, I think,
to me, looking at the backs, I thought that I

(10:02):
was really impressed with how decisive they were in hitting
the hole, whether it was inside between the tackles or
outside on the perimeter. I thought all three guys did
an outstanding job of following their blocks getting downhill. There
wasn't a lot of dancing. They said, well, let's just
get up as much positive yardage as possible and to
your point, Like you know, on third down, the Eagles
still didn't have a ton of success. They ended up
end of the game five of ten. A bunch of

(10:24):
those third downs were late in the game early on.
I think they only had like four or five third
down conversions in the first three quarters. They did not
have a lot of attempts on third down. That speaks
to the success they had on first and second down.
They were removed the ball with efficiency, the run game,
pass game, play, action game, screen game, everything was at
their disposal today. We saw the jet sweeps, we saw
all kinds of things with this offense, and again that

(10:46):
comes to being efficient and staying on the field. They
did it today with the run game, and a big
thing we've been talking about for a few weeks is
their ability to really be efficient on first and second down.
We saw in that first quarter they had seven first sounds.
Last week against Vegas, total, they'd eight first downs in
that whole entire game. By the first quarter they had
almost the same amount of first downs, So that's a

(11:07):
step forward. That's progress. Yes, you know that, that's excellent.
And then when you can build that run game, then
that opens up opportunities for the passing game. It really does.
It makes it makes the passing game so much easier
because as a defensive player, when you're running the ball
down our throat like that, now we're edgy. Now we're
on our toes. We want to get downhill fast. And
then that's when the play actions comes in and you're

(11:28):
hitting the tight end behind us, order receiver on a
day route behind us. So running the football sets up
everything else. That's why a lot of when they did
decide to throw the ball, you know, Jalen pretty much
had easy throws to make, and it's because the Lions
were so so focused on stopping the Eagles running game.
The play action passwork and Dallas god are getting in
behind the linebackers was open all day for him. We're

(11:51):
gonna head over to the press conferences in Detroit with
a Vonte Maddox. Pretty good, I mean felt good. Actually,
I had my family here and like I said, kids
are from King my whole old high school. So definitely
fun to be back home. First time here since a
while and you know I was happy to come up

(12:12):
with a win. I been you were returns for touch
down house. That was pretty nice. A little um Detroit
on Detroit right there, as I call it. So that's
pretty cool. Uh punch out the ball and you know
I'm looking for the ball and I just see two
slave running out into an end zone. So that I
was pretty hype about that. Um No, not really. I

(12:37):
mean we stayed so far out in Troy, and you
know Detroit is a little bit of ways a little
from definitely where I stayed. But you know, so I
didn't get a chances see some time with him. But
you know when I get a chance to come back home,
I will, Oh yeah. I mean we changed up a
little bit. I mean he played a little bit man
and a little bit of everything. I mean, so JJ

(12:58):
did a great job with it with to the scheme
and you know, like I said, whatever he would, cause
you know, we're trusting it and we do go out there,
you know, um dominating do our best as we can.
Different was that exciting for the players coming into this week? Thanks?
You guys haven't done quite as much. I mean we're
excited every week. I mean whenever we come inside the building.
You know, here's nobody looking at anything different. So you

(13:20):
know when we come in, you know, were just ready
whatever j G puts out with their own for us.
You know, we're ready to execute it and make our
best out of it. From a physicality standpoint, Do you
think you guys proved a little something to them? Uh? Yeah,
I mean yeah, I mean it's it's good. You know,
go up a lot of points, and you know, offense
definitely did a great job. You know, you credited the defense,
you know, playing really well on the defensive side of

(13:40):
the ball from the d line to the back end.
So you know we're gonna enjoy us when we're going
to keep pushing to the next one. I don't really
help you guys think fresh that on the opposite side
of the ball, you guys are running and kind of
churning out drives. Yeah, I mean it was they our
offense did a great job with the ball. I mean
I don't even know how. I meant how long we've
been out on the field. They had the ball for
a while and they was, you know, running really well

(14:01):
on that side. You know, credit to them, you know,
on our defensive side, just getting off the field was
pretty big, you know, trying to get the ball back
to our offense give them more opportunities to score. So
you know, it works always special teams as well. So
you know, as we get moved on to next week,
you know we're gonna enjoy this one and keep going.
The pall with the punch you have. Change has been
talking about that since the summer training camp, and you know,

(14:23):
just see Peanut chumming everybody charges to do like it's
that's something you can practice. Is that's still interesting? I
mean you could practice, I mean just making it, you know,
an instinct. You know, you don't want to have to
think about it, want to become an instinct at some point.
So you know, I've been since camp started, and I've
been working on punching the ball off a lot, you know,
since JAG's been making so much bigger emphasis on it.

(14:44):
And you know, I was running up to a guy
and I'm like, you know, I might have punched this out,
and like he A lot of guys think, you know,
on contact that's when they cover up. But I was
going to punch out, no kind, I wasn't even going
for the time. I was going for the punchout. So
you know, it came up big there and got to
turn over. Like I said, slave got a chance to
pick up, so that's pretty cool. You got to return
it for the touchdown and there go right there. Pretty

(15:06):
nice game. This might get a little bit lost. I
mean I don't, I don't really think like that. I
just you know, I want to go out and you know,
play my best football as I can, you know, and
and you know, limited mistakes, you know, because you know,
we don't want to beat ourselves. And that's when you know,
you don't want to get lack of days cool once
you go up points. So it's never a mindset of us,

(15:28):
you know this is about to be a turnaround or
whatever this and that you know, we just go out
and we play each play like it's our last. And
that's what I love about this defense. And you know
our coaches, you know, they keep preaching that as well,
just kind of you guys every time. Yeah, I mean
it starts with one. I mean, you know you could

(15:49):
go one and then you can go on, you know whatever.
Many more we got left on the run, so you know,
we're just gonna enjoy this one, like I said, And
you know going into next we starting Monday, you know,
we go on to the next you know, like we're
trying to go one of the next week. So you know,
you joined this win today next day, put it behind
us on Monday, and you know we're on to the
next one. We saw you were out there a slave
for there the coin toss. So when did you find

(16:11):
out you're gonna do that today? Because Nick, he had
called me in like, yeah, you and slave going out there,
and you know that's pretty cool. You know, he's I
appreciate him for that. You know, my first time being
back at home and my first time playing the Alliance,
and you know I got the opportunity to walk out
for the coin toss, So I thought that was pretty cool.
Did you see Miles Sanders tweeted about you punching the ball? No,
I didn't even look at my phone yet. Had you've

(16:33):
done that before on him? Yeah? I actually did, punched
it right out on him. Um he um. I jumped
over his head and you know, it got hyped and
I walked up to him. I said, slave, you think
I can have that ball? He said, yeah, you got it, brother,
I said, I'm trying to give it to my dad.
So I just went up and gate the ball to
my dad. So I appreciate slave for that. It's pretty cool,

(16:58):
I mean, because he'd been there every game. This is
the beginning since I started playing any type of sport.
You know, he pushed me through a lot with it.
You know, he was always tough on me with it.
And he did up really get to come out to
the away games because he works. So it was pretty
cool to get him back at home. And this was
his first time, first game he came to this year.
And you know, I made a player of a turnover

(17:18):
and Stay was kind enough to give me the ball
and I was I was happy to get it to
my dad. Say, I just tossed it up there like, yo,
this isn't for you, and you know, he just gave
me that big smile you always do. So you know,
I probably talked to him a little bit later. I
can't I couldn't really talk to him much because you know,
we can't really see the family much now. So you know,
I give him a call once. So I get you know,
on the bus and we chop it up. What was

(17:42):
the conversation like the momst the defensive players this week?
Coming off that Vagas game. I mean, we go out
and you know, control we could control, and you know
we're gonna keep we gonna keep trying to dominate and
getting better at whatever, you know, whatever, we have to
get better at our little details, not beat ourselves and
you know, make sure we execute on on on whatever
it's called. And you know that was our big message.

(18:02):
And you know we're going to all stick together in there,
and you know that's that's the biggest thing. You know,
They're just gonna turn around for him as we keep
playing Hardy will think that was a Vonte Maddox. He
was a very happy man today. But he's certainly been
a bright spot this season. I think, a very underrated

(18:23):
bright spot, if you will, um causing a lot of
disruption in that secondary and a lot of those guys
have been leaning on him, I feel like week in
and week out because he's been so consistent. Yeah, back
in his natural position in the slot, you got Stephen
Nelson and Slay on the outside. So I think Devonte
is a nice slot corner. He has the size and

(18:43):
the toughness to play down there in the slot, and
like you said, he's been making plays all year. I
mean we highlighted a couple of plays he made last
week versus the Raiders. I think about the the interception
he had in that game last week. A couple of
weeks ago, he's made a big play in the Carolina
game where he broke up off a touchdown. So you know,
Avante from that slot position just continues to get stronger,

(19:04):
continues to get better, and I think having two veterans
on the outside that allows him to feel more confident
and comfortable playing inside that slot. Got a nice little
trio there. Of course, in another area where I think
he's gotten really good as well has been his comfort
and coming downhill and playing against the screen game, against
the run game. A lot of those runs to the
perimeter that we saw in the first quarter of the season,

(19:25):
we haven't necessarily seen them over the last month, and
I think Avante is a big reason why he's done
a nice job of rallying to the football, defeating blocks,
and finishing one on one against ball characters. You kind
of touched on it. I think is confidence alone. I
feel like we've seen that grow the past few weeks,
and maybe your right ike, maybe it is because he's
working alongside some veteran players. But if that's what it
takes to kind of cultivate that confidence within him, it's

(19:47):
only gonna pay off down the road. Yeah. I mean,
I think early in his career he was moved around
so much. I mean I remember him playing safety. He's
played on the outside when guys got injured in the past.
This year he's been pretty much allowed to play in
the same position. And I think, all right, I guy
have to interrupt you. We have Dallas Goddard at the
podium talking about this game this weekend. Coming home. Uh,

(20:10):
he was really excited. Um, you know, we got a
few players from the Charter people that played here, but
you know, Vata was excited to come back. You know,
see some of his friends. I think his aunt and
uncle were able to come to the game. He was
really excited about that. That That was the first time they
got to see him. So. Uh, you know, he played well,
had that forced fumble late, So there's a lot of
cool things. Really happy for him to be able to
get a big win back in the city. Getting lardy

(20:33):
game going in kind of like, how did that kind
of help you out of the games? Yeah, it was cool.
You know, the running backs did a hell of a
job today. Um. You know, it didn't matter if they
were getting hit in the backfield, they were still falling
forward for five um. So you know that was really cool.
Great job by them, and you know, uh, being able
to run the ball like that, we were able to
get our play action, UM, be able to find some

(20:55):
solid spots in the zone, getting the linebackers to step
up because we were able to run the ball so well, Yeah,
you had two catches off the play actually down feel
what do you I mean is it just the linebacker
he's moving up or what do you notice that free
sup space for you in those times? Yeah? You know
it's it's when they see the run, they step up,
the linebackers step up, and then they see that as passing.
They're scrambling to get back and you just gotta kind

(21:17):
of know where they're gonna drop in their zone and
find the dead spot and just be a target for
the quarterback. You know, just half the targets and in
the pass game today. What's it? What's this like for you?
Being able to be you know, a featured problem? You know,
I love it? Um, you know, like I said, I
think the running backs did a great job helping set
stuff up. You know, Jayalen did a great job finding me,
and you know I can always take as many targets

(21:39):
as I'll get. I love catching the ball. I feel
like I do a great job at it, and I
can make plays with the ball in my hand. So
you know, anytime I get that opportunity, I want to
make the most over the games. And now with you
being the guy, do you feel like you're able to
get into a little bit better rhythm not coming in
out of the game. Yeah, I feel I feel great
out there. Um, you know, just just from being able
to help the team run the ball to being a

(22:01):
guy running the routes catching the ball. Um, you know,
I feel like I've stepped up to the job that
I was given and you know, I'm just excited to
keep going with this team trying to play. Um. Was
that the design for for jailing to find you and
when you take the Kenny Chemist throw? Yeah, that was
a design. Um. You know I kind of buy my

(22:24):
way through uh set like I'm run blocking and then
work my way across the field, and you know, I
look back for the ball and I saw Jalen jumping
up one hand in it and you know, I was
impressed right there. And for him to be able to
get that throw off and be able to catch it
and do what we did there, it was pretty cool.
You know. It was just ball. The ball was going
our way today. It's kind of funny with Zach Gunn

(22:45):
and Miles out and you had this game. You guys
played more working on multiple tight ends than than you
have all season. You ran the ball with you have
all season? What was it about this matter? That thing?
You guys like, Uh, you know, we got we got
three tight ends on the roster right now with Jack
Stool and Richard Rodgers, who you know, Jack came in
as an undrafted guy and he wants to do whatever
he can to you know, make the team better. And

(23:06):
when he's on the field, you know he's sticking his
head in there running, you know, run, blocking his butt off,
you know. And if you got a player like that
that's gonna do it. You know, rich comes in does
the same thing. If you got tight ends that do that.
With the old line that we have, you know, uh,
we can kind of roll anybody off the ball and uh,
you know it's just gonna help the team the better.
We can run the ball and you know when we
started like started moving the ball getting five plus yards

(23:28):
of carry. Um, you know, I think it was just
an easy choice to stay with. It's down about the
team this week, coming off of that Veggas game. Um,
you know, it just it really started on Wednesday. Uh,
you know, coach Siriannie had a great team meeting and shoot,
it was some of our best three practices of the year.
You know, we were flying around on Wednesday, looked really

(23:48):
Chris Thursday, same thing. And then you know, you get
into the more situation. Everybody was locked in paying attention
to the details, and uh, you know, I think that's
that's what shows just how hard we worked at practice
and then coming into the game, it really showed how
detailed we were and able to do a lot of
things even though you guys didn't throw a lot for
night Dallas. Does it Does it help you to get

(24:11):
in the flow of the game, even though it's run
the locking and you're not shoveling in and out. Yeah.
I mean anytime you can put together eleven twelve plays
drives and end it with a touchdown, I mean I
think that gets everybody going. I think that's just you know,
we're on the field for twelve plays at a time.
You know, you get in a rhythm, you get in
a groove, you're moving the ball, everybody's feeling good. Like

(24:32):
we say, a lot, execution feels emotion, and that's kind
of what we did today. We were executing the plays.
You know, people were stepping up on third downs and
we're scrambling for first downs. You know, people were just
making plays um when we needed them. And you know,
that's what we got to continue to do if we
want to be successful. I think it Dallas tells you.

(25:05):
I mean, Boston obviously you didn't want to knock be
hartled involved in the offense in the first seven game,
but having fresh legs, how much did that kind of
help you and Jordan? Uh, you know, responding to kind
of have more play. Yeah. Man, we went out there,
we had fun. We just did our job. Man. That's
that's what it comes down to at the end of
the day. That's where the NFL is, man. You know,

(25:26):
whenever that opportunity knocks, that's when you got to step
up and you gotta go out there and produce. And
me and Jordan have you know, been motivating each other. Uh,
during the time leading up to this moment, and you know,
I think we did a good good job going out
there things to correct, things to you know, improve on.
But overall, we just were committed to helping the team.
That's all we want to doning. Like when you guys

(25:50):
are pairing this game, why was the running game um
so problem? Um? You know, we just wanted to be physical,
you know, know what I mean, We just want That's
that's what we had in our mind going through the week.
Um So, whenever we got out there and saw you know,
productive runs, productive runs, staying staying ahead of the sticks,

(26:11):
you know what I mean, just being productive in the
run game that that warrants more opportunities, and so you know,
that's that's kind of what it was. You know. I mean,
I'm a competitor, you know what I mean. But I'm
still gonna show up every day and work, you know
what I mean. I'm not gonna let you know myself
and what I want, you know, to like negatively impact

(26:34):
the team, you know what I mean. So if I
wasn't getting reps whenever I was gonna help out on
a scout team, I was playing receiver. You know, I'm
playing running back whatever I needed to do to help
this team until my opportunity came, you know what I mean.
So that's that's what I was committed to. Like I said,
at the end of the day, I want to help
this team in whatever way I can. I'm not I mean,
I'm I've been on the Scout team before. I was

(26:55):
a walk on, you know what I mean. So I
just continue to work knowing that my opportunity was gonna come,
and then also having you know, coaches like coaches around
you know, to help me to continue to motivate me. Um,
you know. But I was just committed to just keep working. Man,
put your head down, you know, because easy to get
frustrated and caught up in the circumstances, you know what
I mean. But opportunity comes, you know, and you're frustrated

(27:17):
and whatever, you know, you might miss it, you know,
And so just staying locked in continue to work is
you know, and being patient is important. You're a love
of Boston. How do you end off that frustration because
you said you were walking on before, you've been through
it when you've also been successful since then, So how

(27:38):
did you get back in that? I just think it's
patience man, and really really putting things into perspective. You
know what I mean. I think you know, every time
you take take a step on that field, it's a blessing.
You know, if you look at it as an opportunity,
If you look at it in that positive light, you know,
it can definitely help your perspective, you know what I mean.
If you think that you're titled to this and tile
to that, and then we all battle with that type

(27:59):
of thing. You know, you're a competitor. You know you
did this or whatever, you know what I mean. But
as I talked about in the all season, each year
is a new year. You gotta earn it, you got
to prove it, you know, each year. That's that's all
this point blank period, you know what I mean. You
can either you know, take that as however or you
can use it as motivation personally whatever, you know what
I mean. So that's what that's what it is. You

(28:25):
guys wanted to men. Yeah, I mean I think it
definitely can be a morale breaker, you know what I mean,
Just stop us, you know what I mean, that's just
stop us. You know, if you don't, we're gonna keep
doing it. You and Jordan obviously had to wait your turn.
Did it help having him to leon? And did he

(28:47):
lean on you as well? I feel like we all
leaned on each other, you know what I mean. We
all lean on each other, man, That's what it's all about,
you know what I'm saying. And like I said, at
the end of the day, what we're committed to is
helping out this team. You know what I'm saying is
so we just worked every day where there's a scout
team and getting reps with the starters, with the ones.
It don't matter, man. We love the game of football

(29:07):
with competitors. We believe in ourselves, but most of all,
we want to help this team than how y'all doing.

(29:35):
How are you? Thank you guys ringing them all a
lot more because you guys had had out of the past.
You feel like this is how you guys stalls any house. Yeah,
I think again. We do what we need to do
to win football games, and and and what we think
is best to win football games. We got some good
runs early on, and when the offensive line we kept
coming back to the sideline saying, hey we got we
got a lot of momentum right here. Um, we're pushing

(29:56):
them up up front, and so we just got kept
staying with it, and I thought jay did a good
job of checking us in an audis and plays in
an audis and looks and so yeah, we again we
did what we needed to do to win this football game.
And it was great to see us be able to
run the football like that. So it uh played really
physical upfront, and that's where it always all. It always
starts right there, pre planned. And how much then did change? Yeah,

(30:17):
I mean in our openers, I mean we had just
I mean, I can tell you this, guys, I don't
I don't mind, but the openers at our first seven plays,
we wanted to have five runs and two passes on that.
So we wanted to establish the run game early. We
felt like we, you know, we really value our offensive
line and what they can do. So um, that's what
we wanted to go out and start. We had some
good play action game off of it that Jayleen executed well,

(30:38):
and so yeah, that was definitely part of our plan
to be able to go out there and run football
like we did today. I'm sorry again, just again, just
what we think about going into a defensive game. We
felt like we we had an advantage upfront the way
they were playing some of their middle field open coverages UM,
and so that's that's that's the main reason our guys
up front and then some of the middle field open

(30:59):
their land. Now they pulled back a little bit on
some of that middle field open. They did some pressures
to try to stop it and this and that, but
we had already got some momentum going on that. So
that's what we just kept riding it about the performance
on defense and gains playball. So I'm sorry say again
when I can't see you guys mouth, it's hard for
me to hear him down about the performance on defense.

(31:20):
And again, yeah again, I mean, just what I appreciated
about Jonathan is just his dog mentality and that like
you know, I know he's been having to answer a
lot of questions. We've been having to answer a lot
of questions. He went, when did what we had to
do to win that game? We put a little bit
more pressure on him and as you can see, we
got to the quarterback a little bit more than we
we have UM. And so again it started up front there,

(31:42):
like to lean on those guys up front, and that's
you know, at any level that you're playing, I mean
high school football, college football, pro football. If you went
up front the way we went up front, you're gonna
be able to win football games. So it was relying
on those guys there to win up front initially and
then just tighten it up in the coverage with some
more man and man a little bit more zone match
when they gave us a couple of different looks to

(32:02):
be able to still match even if we were in
zone coverages. You got to do what it takes to one,
whether it's based upon it depends a scheme or whatever
places your strengths. But is this formula maybe a little
more what's Yeah, that's a good Jeff, that's a good
point because again, yes, you do it that way, but
you also got to do what you do well, right

(32:24):
and so, um, I think that that's what we're saying
that we're able to push some guys around. It's you know,
up front and so and so it is it's a
combination of both, and it's it's yes to both. Right,
you want to do what the defense is lyne you
to do while still doing the things that you're successful
you've been successful with. So yeah, it's great when you're
able to run the football like that, it opens up
everything else again, because I know we didn't throw for

(32:45):
very many yards, but the play action game, the chunks
that we got to Dallas, particularly in the Play Action game,
came off of some very unique run looks that we
did earlier in the game and they had to bring
the extra guy down to stop the run. And so
um again, Yes, So to answer your question, it's it's
it's what you're doing. Well, it's what you what you
want to continue to build on with your offense, but

(33:06):
also what the defense is giving you. So it's a
fine it's a fine line, but you got to do
both of those things though, just kind of helping people
a little bit. I like when I when I like
when he's able to Again, I think Jalen's got big
shoulders and I think he's and he's able to handle
a lot. I really do. Um, But we know that
he's still in his essentially you can say he's still
in his rookie year as far as starts goes, and

(33:26):
so yeah, I mean that that's gonna be able to
help him out. And when you're able to run it
like that, it's gonna it's gonna get create space from
him in the offensive line on the play action game.
So again, we're evolving. We're evolving every week on offense.
And I think that's the main thing, is that we're
evolving each week on offense. Um, we're figuring out more
and more what we do well, um and just evolving

(33:47):
and that and that's just and that's just the mentality
of what we talked. We talk about in there is
get better every single day. That's just not a player thing.
That's a coach thing. That's an everybody thing. If we
all live by that and we all get better each day,
that then good things are gonna have. Just sleep their
physical watch. I mean, I think again, it always gonna

(34:08):
start up front. It's always gonna start up front. I
think they got with the way those guys up front
were pushing it around. It was really good. And I
think Miles would have had a big game today too.
I don't want to take anything away from the Boston
or Jordan because they played phenomenal games. Um, but you know,
it started up front, and I just think they got
they got behind their pads and they and they went
and they got and they finished the job. When they

(34:28):
you know, when the offensive line got the push, it
was really interesting to see in the red zone. Um,
those guys finished in the red zone, so you were
getting this surge. We weren't blocked. There's a couple of
guys on the second level we weren't getting to because
they had six on the line, and so we were
getting such a push right there. They were just able
to ride that block in there, and just a tribute
to them of you know, and that's and that's just
a great trip. But I do want to point out,

(34:49):
like what you just said right there with with with
Boston and Jordan, like you wait your turn, You wait
your turn. I want to even say it like that,
you're not where you want to be exactly, um on
the debt chart. But but inevitably in this game, there's
gonna be some bumps and bruises and the next man
has to step up. And I just thought they did
an excellent job there. I think they've been I think
you guys asked me on Friday about Jordan and his

(35:11):
opportunity that he might get, and I think I mentioned that,
you know, he's just been such a good prow through
it all right in Boston too, right, he's had a
lot of success here in the past, and so they've
just been crows. They've come to work every single day
and they and they were able to reap the benefits
to that, the bumps of bruises. You guys need to
step up, make herbig who came in and your running
game didn't suffer it at all. What is it saying

(35:31):
about a guard becoming in when he passed to running
any playing and in durable to execute him? Yeah, And
I mean just a tribute to how Nate prepares right
throughout the week. And you know, he he gets to
get some practice reps, we get to mix a little bit,
so he gets a little bit of practice reps in
there with the ones also, but he prepared himself all
week just like he was he was starting. And that's
and so just a tribute to him that he was

(35:52):
able to come in and not miss a step. The
guys trust him, the guys next to him trust him,
the guys behind him trust him, right and so um
and then us as coaches trust him. And so I
just think he did a great job stepping in for
an in for Jack's injury and just not lose. And
we didn't lose a step because of it, and that
and that's you're really you get obviously excited about that
because the depth of the offensive line like we've been,

(36:14):
we've we've had some bumps and bruises around the offensive line.
And and this is just another example of guys stepping
up and pointing, arguing about, you know, the finding out
what it is that you do well in your experience.
How long has that usually taken? All their other examples
of potentially figuring out that it's not what you thought,
maybe something called people. Yeah, again, I don't think there's

(36:35):
ever just a real timetable on it. I think it's just,
you know, it's try. I don't want to say trial
and air either, because we know what we want to
be good at. We know, but but sometimes it does
take time. And I'm not saying anywhere it's never a
finished product. We're not there yet, right, It's gonna always
be evolving. And so again, don't want to put a
timetable on I'm just excited to the way that our
guys ran the football today, and the guy and we had,

(36:55):
the way we physically dominated up front with chilling Raiger
early in the game, seemed to be a few more
manufacturer touches, a little bit more motion. Was that part
of the aggressiveness because of the component, Yeah, the evolution
get to throw back too. Yeah. Again, you know, you
want to be able to steal yards in certain ways,
and you can. Now you're not always like you're not

(37:16):
always able to run the gadget reverse or the jet
sweep that we did. The d ns have to cooperate, right,
and you got to have certain techniques out of defensive ends.
Some games you don't go in with any of those
plan The way the way we scouted this team and
the way they were they were with their defensive ends,
we thought that they gave us an advantage. You get
Jaal in some touches because we want to get Jaile
in some touches because he's a dynamic playmaker with the
ball in his hands. So, you know, we were able

(37:38):
to steal some yard. I think I always look at it,
for whatever reason, I always look at it as like
stealing yards on offense when you get ten yard gains
or more on jet sweeps and rounds and the other
thing it does. And so we were able to steal
what twenty five yards of offense on those couple gadgets
done runs And the other thing it does is now
those jet motions that you do, and those the next

(37:59):
teams have to be alert for that. Right the defense
event next game might not be able to chase hard
on outside zone the next game because he's up the
field because he's got to be worried about the around.
So it does set some things up. But again you
go into that and so that goes back to what
Jeff asks like it goes you don't. Yes, you might
want to have it part of your plan, but sometimes
the defense has to cooperate for it to be part
of your plan as well. Is there it's relief among

(38:22):
the emotions after this Winnick. I mean, the team's been
under a lot of heat. You've been under a lot
of heat. To see them kind of respond to you guys,
and and maybe showed that what you guys are teaching
starts well, I think, I think what we have to
look at first, And I I don't want to say relief.
It's it's round eight to us right today, it was
round eight for us, and we and and my message
to them was, hey, sometimes it just takes a big round.

(38:43):
It takes it takes a round where you cut somebody
to you know, to and win around to build some momentum.
And so but there was no secret to why in
my opinion, and I think for the guys there was
no secret to why we we performed well today. It
happened every day in practice. And I'm not saying we
haven't practice. I mean, like, what what happened on Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday was so the intensity was so high,

(39:04):
the detail was so high. It was just again, it
was just that was our message to continue to grow,
and um, the only way to continue to grow is
if you're going to have intensity and practice and you're
going to have a detail. And I think the guys
locked into that, and uh, they practice well all week,
Jaalen practice well all week. We really felt confident both offensively,
defensively and special teams with the how we practice. And
that just gives you confidence going in because the way

(39:26):
you practice, I don't care what again, what level you're at,
the way you practice is going to be similar to
the way you play in that game, which is yeah,
I mean that's huge. And and so you get the
guys that we have up front, you know, I think
obviously Josh Sweat had a great game, and um Derek
Barnett had a phenomenal game, and they just continue and

(39:48):
then we're getting pushed up the medal with Fletch and
with Hardgrave, like you're just you're just able to tighten
up in coverage and have more guys back there. That's huge, right,
one last guy in the second area means one one
little bit more whole, right when you have to when
you bring it. Now, we brought some pressures, but to
be able to get pressure with your with your front
four obviously is big. And that goes back to what
we talked about with the offensive line. Right, it doesn't

(40:10):
matter what level you win every game, you win games
up front with the physicality of your team. And so again,
just really excited with the way our defense played. But
you know, it's one game and we're gonna enjoy this one.
But Round nine starts tomorrow and we're gonna need a
similar performance, um next week from that our offensive defensive line,
uh for next week when we played Chargers. Thanks, thanks you.

(40:50):
I guess it's gonna be the most we've seen you
played in the season with just weeks specific where do
you feel like this is what we're going to see
them for everybody. Yeah, no, UM, you know I can't
really I don't make those calls, so I don't really
know about that. But um, you know I know each
week of what my role is going to be, and UM,
just trying to go out there today and do the
best I could. And um, obviously I had a lot
of help out there, a lot of good players around me,

(41:10):
but I felt just as an on defense as a whole,
we played really well to tweaks to the season a
lot on a leave tweet, the basis is it communicated
to you the why for that, Les, Yeah, I think, Um,
the coaches do such a good job of letting us
know ahead of time, you know what our role is
going to be, like I said, and then um, kind

(41:30):
of why he sees us doing that in terms of um,
this is what they do, this is what you know,
our strength of the player is, and this is kind
of their strength of their certain schemes. So um, our
coaches do a good job just trying to match scheme
and um, the strength of the of the backers in
the room. The blitzes were so back in that I
think we just did a good job of kind of
showing you know, the same similar coverages and then um

(41:52):
bringing pressure from those looks and um, you know we've
we've had things schemed up like this, but just haven't
had the down and distance to get us in those spots.
And um, today we had you know, second and long,
third and long, and um we were able to rush
and let our D line you know, get after them.
Two A more aggressive game plan for you guys, Is
that something you can carry over? Is that game specific?
I think again it's it's just getting them. You know,

(42:14):
past couple of weeks it's been you know, second and one,
you know, third and two things where um, it's hard
to be agressive aggressive at times, and today we got
them in backed up situations and um, you know with
our D line you can also let them rush. I'm
third and long, but you know at times you're getting pressure,
which is what we did this week. The TJ that
obviously they're playmakers, DeAndre TJ are you know they're not

(42:35):
outside the numbers, they're inside the numbers typically. Um, is
it more about just getting them third and all or
just a help to when you when you don't you
don't have as much dynamic dynamic players out Oh yeah.
I mean again, I think playing good defense is to
staying ahead of the stakes at all times. Um. You know,
when a team is really good on first and second down,

(42:57):
it's gonna be it's gonna be a longer day. And um,
you're not stopping the run and you're not um getting
those checkdowns down quick. Um. Again, it makes it just
tougher for the for the defense as a whole. So
I thought today we just did a good job of
rallying the tackles, um, you know, making sure that those
yards aren't bleeding, and um getting to him on third down.
So it was good today. How high the intensity was

(43:17):
through hours of this week? What do you feel it
was about? Kind of this moment the team to react
with it. Yeah, I mean you know, obviously, um, coming
in this week, we weren't you know, happy as a team.
We weren't. We wanted, you know, the results to be different,
but we knew that, Um, all that starts with practice.
And UM we came in this week, I thought everyone
had a fire about him. The leaders, you know, Rodney Fletch,

(43:38):
all those guys were um, you know, getting things going.
And UM I thought all week, you know, we just
had guys flying around, you know, not happy with the results,
and I'm gonna showed up today. Appreciate you guys day.
We know you like had the ball in your hands.
But how proud of you that your teammates kind of

(44:00):
with the focal point around you with this game. I
think coming out today first and foremost, coming out today
and getting to win. UM. Someone been striving for UM.
And you know, we had a great week of preparation. UM,
came together this week, came out here and got to win. UM.
Running about the streaming the well, UM really really kind
of dominate the line of scrimmage UM for for most

(44:23):
of the game. UM. And and that's and that's what's best.
We just show we can do that. UM. So we
want to be consistent with that moving forward. UM. Defense
played they you know, they played the ass off. They
got turn turnovers and sacks. I'm made big time plays
played throughout the whole game. So UM, it's a great
team win. UM, it's a great team win. I think

(44:46):
we just want to continue to grow, right, you know
what I'm saying. We have a twenty five run of
everything wins and losses, UM, and we've come out through
this season and we've we played different type of football
and a lot of these games. UM And I think
that UM has been figuring out the identity of who
we are. You know what I'm saying, probably gonna ask
me what is the identity? And I think the identity

(45:08):
is just continue to to to mess all of these
great things. We have, this melting pot of being able
to throw the ball, being able to run the ball,
being able to be an effective offense, or whatever it
is we choose to do. UM. So we just want
to continue to be you feel same, but but be
in the end you want to put points on the board.
And we did a good job of that today. We
won the game. The preparation this week, how much the

(45:30):
intensity picked up? Did you know it's a difference. Did
you see more intensity? And Mardy you think their balls.
I think we all challenge each other. We all challenge
each other. Coaches challenge the players, players challenge of coaches.
I'm come and come together, UM and and raise the standard,
raise the standard of what we want. UM. And I
think when you when you when you when you have,

(45:50):
when you have those things, when you go through things,
when you have to overcome adversity, you find out who
you really are. Um, and we're still we're in a situation,
um where we're overcoming things were we want to want
to take this as a stepping stone for us and
get to you the billet about Jordan in Boston today,
just at these guys. They really played for Jordan's at

(46:11):
a practice Boston played for seeds. Yeah, nothing's really a
surprise um to me. You know, it's a testament to
the hard work that they put in the patients they've
had to, you know, wait for the opportunity to come,
like a game today, and UM, what a job they
did to take age taking advantage of it. You know,
they came out, they played well. Um to tote the

(46:31):
rod y'ards have to contact, I mean they did. They
did a hell of a job you dynamic scrambers today. Um.
You know, did you feel it was necessary to take
off of the situation. Yeah, I think I could. Um,
I could have hit one to Smitty, threw it a
little outside. Um. You always always things to improve on,
you know what I'm saying. We had runs in a

(46:52):
run game that we probably could have been home run hitters.
I'm gonna block away. So there's all. There's always room
for improvement and then in every area of our games,
and we're gonna continue to try and get better. You know,
we take a step from last week to this week. UM,
that did a better job of eliminating mental errors. He
got out of the heal quicker. Um, we're very very
efficient as an offense, man as a defensive special team.

(47:13):
So overall is just that it's a great team winning.
We want to build off of its age. Whatever you
wanted to be. What is to say about na her
big and you guys has to run heavy game. He
comes in and after a really early intrantiation to great

(47:34):
great uh, Nate is a he's a he's a hell
of a player, you know what I'm saying. He's come in.
He came in last year and played his telof um
and held his own and um it was really one
of the top guards of his position. UM and came
in last year and played a lot of left guard.
He's come in this year and played some left guard
and now he's that right guard. But he's a guy
that can do it all. He can play center as well.
So UM, I got a lot of love for nat

(47:55):
and instability and commitment to the team. UM being a
little you know, Swiss army knife and being able to
do at all you pay fourteen times and you know
exactly the way winning. I say the same thing every week.
Tell us up about the throwback from County. You didn't
challenge your receiver. I didn't even I didn't realize I

(48:16):
caught it a one. It's kind of kind of happened,
I guess. But you know, no, I've kind of been through,
you know, the downs and the ups, and I don't
I don't really care about anything else but winning into
the city. Guys, what specifically you want to get on
this game? I think it. I think it's deeper than

(48:38):
then the outcome of it. Right, you see the outcome
of a game and um, like I said, a pretty
dominant win. Um. But but it's in the preparation, the preparation.
How we challenge each other this week, UM, how we
upheld the standard. Now it's another challenge moving forward doing
that UM again this week going in going into a

(48:58):
home a home game versus a really good team and
the Charges, So be ready to play, you know what
I'm saying, build off of it, but um, our head down,
were ready to go to work. UM, enjoy it. On
the way home and for twenty four hours and move
on for the next one. With the coaches and players
challenging each other. What does what does that look like
with the players challenging coaches? I guess certain course of

(49:19):
the week one does that happen? I think it's I
think it's UM to you know, to every route in
the relationship. You know what I'm saying. You gotta have
great communication. UM. You gotta have belief and trust and
everybody UM around you. And that's something that we've we've
getting better at. We're getting better at and we've grown
to come closer in UM and at the term of
successful football team. So we just want to continue to

(49:42):
build UM, lean on one another, trust one another, go
out there and made place for one another. UM. And
know the end of the the day, I know I'm gonna
go out there and play play my butt off for
the guy next to me. UM. You know, because we
put it in, We put the work in. You know
what I'm saying. We can't really be result earning that
you gottacus on the process and focus on what it
takes to get there. UM. So we've had a lot

(50:04):
of a lot of opportunities I've said it all year. UM,
just far a lot of opportunities to learn um from
every game, good batter and different and we'll have that
same mindset moving forward, UM and truly coming together and
continue to rise up. We just want to continue to
rise up and UM attack everyone in front of us.
Thank what's going on? Guys? You are video talking about

(50:52):
what we're like the brains We're all right, man, any
games that yeah, I feel stable. UM. So basically what
hindered me from going was, UM, I'm on a medication,
an SSRI I and had bad, really bad withdraw sent them.

(51:14):
So and that's really something uh yeah, just uh. Football
wasn't even questions the time. It was something that I
felt even before the season. Um, some of the stuff
I was feeling, and um, I didn't really told a
few close friends really cut the bottled up because I
felt ashamed that I felt like it was it was

(51:35):
a crutch. And but you know, coming back, the support
I've had from the team, from my friends, from my family,
I mean, I couldn't ask for nothing better. And getting
out of here and playing football again, as you know,
you reminded how um lucky you are to be in
the position um that you are and so taking to
day by day like what your medication status is now?

(52:00):
And did the medication it wasn't like a level thing. Yeah,
So basically going from something that takes time to building
your system and then thinking that you're I guess tapering
off the correct way and I wasn't. So I went
from a very I guess mediocre dost to nothing and

(52:22):
so pretty much what the side effects is uh yeah,
I mean it's almost like you have the flu um
a lot of nazi, a lot of vomiting, and it's
it's something that stays, is it doesn't go away and um,
and that's what I was really what I was dealing with.
And so yeah, I mean when I got back, I

(52:42):
got to help them I needed and and moving forward
just uh playing and I enjoy I enjoyed playing football.
I enjoy the people I'm around. I'm enjoyed the community
that I'm around. You know, is um one thing about
the city. You know Chelsey was talking about it's easy
to play here, but ship just just be wrong. Just
to be real, this is Yes, that's what I what

(53:04):
I dealt with. It It was terrible. I don't wish
it on nobody, but moving forward, I mean I don't
want sympathy. Man, I got I got tons of friends,
I got tons of help, and now I just want
to focus, uh being the best right tackle that that
I can be. People to talk really everybody on the team,
I mean Brandon especially, I think you can relate to it,

(53:25):
maybe more than me. So it's really difficult to describe.
I guess the people that felt quote quote normal, but
uh yeah, really everybody in the coaching staff, the coach, Criani, Um,
you know Dom. I mean those guys have always especially
Dom's in my back. You know, ever since I've been here.

(53:46):
A lot of stuff is transpired through through nine years,
so you know, having that back is critical. And uh yeah,
I'm just yeah, today was a good day you would
have for people that are stuff from I guess the
real message is just don't bottle it, bottle it up,

(54:08):
and it's, uh, it's easy to do that. It's easy
to avoid the situations that you don't want to go
through something that's going to be difficult. So I guess
did you kind of hide this from Brandon when he
was gone through it? No? You guys, Brandon's any Brandon
pretty much have a very similar condition myself started ever
since um my first year in college in Juco, and

(54:31):
I didn't know. I wouldn't educated the matter at the time.
When I got to tell you, um, that's when I
was I guess officially diagnosed. You know, I've dealt with
this for for a long time. So but what was it,
I mean, how tough was it? What was it about
that morning? It wasn't I mean, it was really the
week leading up to it. Uh yeah, I mean it's

(54:57):
I don't want to compare it to other withdrawal sentols,
but it's it's right out there and that's what I
was going through. So I got I got help from that.
And uh, really you just to clarify, you said you
thought it was like a crutch. Is that why you
kind of mean yourself off of it. Yeah, I was
trying to, yeah, to be honest. So yeah, and really

(55:20):
that's that's what it was. I guess probably let you're
probably get in the way that that's really at the
end of it. What does it say about the low
respect this team has for you and your teammates have
for you. And obviously it's kind of hard to keep
something quiet in Philadelphia what does it say about humilitating
to be pride? Asking, Well, the bad news is that
I think a lot more people have it than what

(55:41):
it meets the eye. I think it's easy to put
on poker face, um, you know life just in general.
I mean it's easy to do that. So uh yeah,
but really it's talking talking about it that feel like
we were ready on bad A body thought I wasn't.
I wasn't going through the withdrawal symptoms that I was,

(56:02):
and so something that was going on for you know,
really close to two months. So yeah, uh that was
that was a key key factor. I just does it
kind of give you a perspective, you know, I'm playing
all everything after winning months Rose, Yeah, I guess I
just laid it out on all on the table. I mean,

(56:24):
that's that's that's a really genuinely how I felt. I
Mean what I'm saying is what it was, what I've
said to a lot of people and to everybody. So
you're a really important person in a really world where
I've seen how important it was a lame year today,
do you think this is gonna be construed as kind
of a stating game where you were franchised going forward?

(56:46):
I don't know about statement game it was. It was
a good game. I think the stretch we have coming
up and we got to really just attack it like
we did this week. I think we we had we
had an excellent run game today and that that was
that was It was almost a line of it's a
lot of fun you're getting to do that, getting to
file off the ball. Listen when you're opinion, I mean,
you guys shown capacity to be productive when you've been

(57:09):
getting the chances to run the block and run the ball.
Do you think that the lead is good? Yourself is
learning the strengths of of this team after severating games too, Yeah,
I think. I mean really, when you go back and
look at it's, you know, you start off how you
want to in Atlanta and then you get kind of
kind of stale. But when you when you go look
at the situations you get down in those games, you're

(57:29):
gonna throw the ball. I mean much like today Detroit,
you get behind you know, fourteen whatever, you're getting those situations.
It's it is what it is, becomes a kinds of
passing game that the game changes. One of the guys
that want to niggle the sidelines offensive line said Hey,
let's let's keep running it. We feel that we're winning
off today. Yeah, I just think really from the jump,

(57:53):
but I guess you could see it how it was
going to go, and it's kept becoming, I guess, the
most consistent that we've had so far at the season,
and so that just kept fueling it. I guess it
was the ankle complicated your ankle. Was that a complicated
backer at all? About this? Yeah, I mean it was
a tough fish you dealing with, I mean for the

(58:14):
past two years, but today IL got me. I've been
I've been feeling pretty good for the most part, So
that's someday. Did you drive back to Oklahoma? Yeah? Can
you just help explain that it was, you know, what
you was going through your mind at that time and
then how you ended up kind of coming back in
that process as much as you can. Yeah, I just

(58:35):
I told I told my mom, I told my dad,
and I said where I was at. So, uh but
it wasn't it wasn't an enjoyable thing. I didn't, you know,
A lot was going through my head and uh yeah,
really for the duration of the time, a lot was
talked about. So uh yeah, I mean playing last week.

(58:57):
Playing this week, I'm just looking forward to the the
Sunday stacking up. There's gonna incredible pressure with having that disorder.
How can football now kind of be a release for you?
Is it kind of helping? Yeah? But I think a
lot more a lot more people, uh suffer. I remember
hearing I sat at the comment of the most people

(59:20):
in this type of in the NFL have some sort
of condition. At the same time, you know, it's it
can do a lot of things for you, um, but
a lot of times it can become detrimental. You know,
you mentioned you earlier. You mentioned earlier that you you know,
you encourage people or dealing with things like this to
don't bollow it up. So how good did it be

(59:41):
able for you to, you know, make that announcement, you know,
draw all waris and stuff like this. Yeah, I just felt,
you know, coming from from the heart. I mean, I
don't really want to. I wanted to do this. I
wanted to do the deal with Jay. Uh. You know,
even an interview there was more detailed like what I'm
talking about today, what what I was dealing with, what
I was feeling, that was all covered that it was

(01:00:03):
probably left out, but um, I just wanted to remove
all questions, um, you know, moving forward, just keep keep
stacking games and winning games. That your parents when when
you were talking to them on that Sunday, what were
they tell me yet? I mean they were behind me,
that they were, they were concerned, but they I knew

(01:00:25):
what I had to do and they were they were
behind that. So yourshons are playing at this level and
I know what effects not just you in that locker
room and Brandon probably more guys. Does the NFL need
to do I mean, does there need to be more
done about this league and from teams to help these
God help everybody. Yeah, I just think I don't know

(01:00:47):
if you truly look into Mary and you truly and
and don't try to dismiss things. I think a lot
the whole message is communication and uh and working through
that and guess putting in prideside and doing that. So
you for nine years kind of seeing you an alcohol guys,

(01:01:08):
your highest long this year, and how much has this
been affecting you behind the scenes without as knowing about
well much minded brand situation maybe a little bit different,
but a lot of it's very similar. So a lot
of stuff when he was going through it. I understood
because you know, you know he's talking. You talked about

(01:01:28):
how he puked every game day. I mean I was,
I was right there with him five thirty. So, uh,
you know, he was probably the main guy to help,
you know, with us um situation. And I think how
he how he handled it was phenomenon. I think he
was I think liberated from it and and uh yeah,
so that was really it. Yes, that was very tackle

(01:01:56):
Lane Johnson his first time speaking since making his return.
We also heard from a handful of players and head
coach Nick Sirianni. All the players kind of have the
same message wins win, but announced time to stack them.
So let's go back to one of the bright spots
from earlier today. Fran was able to break down one
of the big sacks we saw from the defense in
this week's RICO Review. So this week here on the

(01:02:17):
RICO Review, I want to take a look back at
some of the defensive performance here in the first half,
the Eagles shutting out the Detroit lines and the first
two quarters seventeen nothing, and a big part of that
was the pressure on quarterback Jared Goff. Four sacks in
the first half. Let's take a look at this one
by Derek Barnett, who you could see here at the
bottom of your screen. It's third and eight, and what
are the Eagles trying to do. They're going to blitz

(01:02:37):
linebacker Alex Singleton into the B gap, so he's gonna
rush from the second level. Jared Goff when he takes
the snap, he's gonna look opposite way, which is the
right way to look here on this pressure. But what
happens here. You've got t J. Edwards buzzing out underneath
these three vertical routes, so the Eagles have a safety
over the top. You've got two underneath defenders here in

(01:02:59):
quarterback Darius Slay and Advantae Maddox, and then you add
t J. Edwards into the mix there. Now, all of
a sudden, you've got four defenders over three receivers, and
Jared Goff does not like what he sees. Now, let's
take a look at what happens here on the play.
Alex Singleton again, he's going to blitz from depth. He's
going to try and get through this B gap. The
running back steps up. Jared Goff looks over to his right,

(01:03:20):
doesn't like what he sees here is these routes are
developing and as soon as he sees Alex Singleton kind
of jump over this block, now he's going to try
and escape through the back door. And what does that do?
That's exactly where Derek Barnett is going to be rushing from.
He's going to take this speed rush right into quarterback
Jared Goff a sack from minus fifteen yards. Good blitz

(01:03:41):
there on third and long results in a sack. Huge
play there for the Eagles defense. Again, four sacks in
the first half, big part of why the Lions were
shut out in the first two quarters. Now is your
chance to vote for the Toyota Player of the Week.
Go to Philadelphia Eagles dot com Toyota Player of the
Week to cast your vote and get a chance at

(01:04:03):
a brand new Toyota. Okay, it's look at the three
nominees for this week, starting with linebacker t J. Edwards
his thirteen total tackles for the day and his quarterback hit.
Next up Boston Scott, some of him know as a
next man up two touchdowns on the day, and lastly,
Josh sweats two sacks with a big guy today. What

(01:04:24):
do you guys think? Well, I think I'm had to
go with the linebacker. I gotta go to tj Aedwards. Man,
Come on, I didn't know Boston Scott. Nice day for
Boston Scott, two touchdowns, setting set the tone with the
running game, but he was matched by Jordan Howard. Also, yeah,

(01:04:45):
you know, Josh Sweat had a couple of sacks, but
I gotta go with the linebacker. Get a linebacker some love, Randy,
all Right, I have to go with Josh Sweat here
in this one. Not only did he have the two sacks,
but he also forced Jared Goff into a couple of completions,
a couple of them on fourth down, forced a couple
of Aaron throws there by the quarterbacks. So I will
go with Josh Sweat here in this one. Really standard

(01:05:06):
out in this game. All right, make sure you get
your votes in on this week's Toyota Player of the Week.
We're gonna flip the page next week. The Los Angeles
Chargers are coming to town. Let's take a look at
the Jamison nightcap. The Chargers are playing right now as
we speak against the Patriots. They're four and two this season.
Justin Herbert, he is having a heck of a year.
Big challenge for the Eagles coming up. They are back

(01:05:28):
at home, playing at home, which is a good thing.
Eagles fans are ready to welcome them back. Yeah, this
will be a little bit different offensive challenge, right, I
mean going up against this Chargers offense. Justin Herbert in
his second year, already establishing himself as one of the
bright young top quarterbacks in the league. You look at
the weapons at his disposal to be interesting to see it.

(01:05:49):
What do we do defensively to try to slow down
this Chargers offense? And he presented a pretty good challenge
for us all from a defensive standpoint as well. So
a much stiff or opponent next week with the Chargers
as opposed to what we saw today. Justin Herbert is
a ballers, really really good. But that offense they don't
push the ball down the field as much as you

(01:06:10):
would expect. And then you go to that defense. They've
got a ton of blue chip talent. They do all
the same things philosophically that the Eagles do here in Philadelphia.
A lot of split safety, a lot of zone coverage,
safety's playing deep off the ball, lighter boxes, so all
those same things we see here with this Eagles defense.
You're gonna see that with the Chargers here next week
at look at Financial Field. Well, it's gonna be a
big week of preparation. Luckily, there's a lot of film

(01:06:31):
to keep us busy this week to break on down
and get ready for the big matchup next Sunday at
four or five PM. As always, will be here for
the kickoff show before things get started, and then we'll
be right back here immediately following the game for the
postgame show. But for now, I Crease has some Halloween
candy he's gotta dig into, so we gotta go. Postgame
show represents in bag Rico. I'm Gabriel D. Givanni for

(01:06:51):
fran Duffy and I Crease. We'll see you next time.
