So, about 4 months ago, one of the coaches that helped me with my tennis program at McLean, Miguel Lopez called me with the question above and 3 others. He was working on his Master’s Thesis in Sports Science and thought about me when he was faced with answering these questions in his final paper. I was driving at that time and had my bluetooth on so I was able to answer the questions without having to reschedule the phone call. Here are the questions and my answers are in the podcast:
Miguel: From your experience, what are the contributing factors to the decline of tennis participation in the U.S.?
Miguel: From a player development standpoint, how is the U.S. failing at developing the next big American tennis champion, and how will the participation of tennis be affected if big American tennis champion is developed?
Miguel: From your experience, how do you get kids to play tennis and continue to play?
Miguel: In your opinion, are there any other factors or suggestions that would increase the overall youth participation and future play? What can be done to grow American tennis?
