Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to the Best of the Fan Morning Show
on ninety three five and one oh seven five the Fan,
Good Morning, and.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Walk come into the Fan Morning Show. And I'm just curious, guys,
now that we're here on Thursday and the Colts have
had their walk through yesterday and now they have a
brand new kicker, and who knows what's going to happen
against Jacksonville on Sunday, But are we have we taken
a collective breath? And we feel like maybe the Colts
are going to take a collective breath and they can
just go out and start to turn the clock back
to what they did the first half of the season
(00:29):
and maybe put Jacksonville back in its place. And I
asked that question because I'm listening to John's show yesterday
and he's got one of the reporters on for the
Jacksonville Jaguars who basically said he still doesn't believe in
that football team, that they got a lot of issues still.
So maybe they got their own issues going on and
the Colts can use that to go in there and
break this ten year losing streak. Kevin, you feel any
better today than you did twenty four hours ago or.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
No, Jackobs have had their issues every year going into
this game, and they seem to be just fine.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Yeah, I'm not really sold on Jacksonville at eight and four.
You know, I think I brought up earlier in the week.
You know, last week, for example, was Trevor Lawrence's first
game all season with a passer rating over one hundred,
and just to put that into context, Daniel Jones has
nine such games this year now. Having said that, to
Mark's point, Trevor Lawrence has towards the Colts in the
(01:18):
last three years. So I get that everyone and say, oh, well, hey,
that's just the heck's of playing down there. Well, I
mean this is Louisna Rumo now and not Gus Bradley,
So you would hope that you would see some improvements
down there. You know, one thing on paper that I
think will be interesting to keep an eye on for Sunday,
and you know, weather, push the weather to the side
(01:38):
for a second, James. If you look at it, Jacksonville
is a very good run defense team. Their questions are
more with their pass defense. Well right now with the
Colts offensively, I know Jonathan Taylor hasn't been great by
any means, here recently, but you'd probably feel more comfortable
handed it to twenty eight than necessarily having Daniel Jones
drop back thirty five times, or however you want to,
(01:59):
you know, put that out there. But again, on paper,
it seems like Jacksonville's a little bit more susceptible through
the air. And we should probably point out, you know,
the Colt's injury list isn't clean by any means, of course,
but Jacksonville had some notable dudes on their injury report yesterday.
Starting left tackle Walker Little is in concussion protocol, they're
(02:19):
leading white out, Parker Washington did not practice yesterday, Trayvon Walker,
the first overall pick from a few years ago, did
not practice, and their top snap guy defensively, they're starting safety.
So I mean those are four notable and then I get it.
The Cults will likely be without Buckner and sauce Gardner,
so Jacksonville also pretty banged up.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Well, the Colts are just going to try to regroup.
And you said you saw a sauce Gardner at least
walking and not with a huge noticeable limp in the
locker room yesterday. He's obviously not going to play this week.
Do we have any other injury concerns or update. Still
nowhere near the Forest Buckner right.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
Well, the Forest can't come back right until next week,
so that is the earliest he could come back with Sauce. Yeah,
in the locker room seemed to be pretty good spirits.
But I know you wanted to give an update on
Anthony Richardson Kevin that you tease earlier in the show.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Yeah, so there were a couple, you know, different questions
about Richardson, and you know, James, you know this full well.
In Shane Stike and Lingo. I actually think there was
some updates on Richardson, and you know, when you think
about the three injured guys right now, we talk about
the most Sauce Gardner to Forest Buckner, Anthony Richardson. There
have been not definite, but there have been mentions of
(03:34):
DeForest Buckner playing again this season, Sauce Gardner playing again
here in the next couple of weeks. We haven't got
there with Anthony Richardson yet, No, And so basically on
the Richardson front, he is back in the building. I
believe Sunday was the first time we've seen him on
the sidelines since the injury started.
Speaker 5 (03:52):
I believe Stephen Holder report he actually traveled. I want
to say to Kansas City.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Oh he did. I thought it was just Buckner. Yeah,
that that did travel. So again, he is starting to
be back present, I guess is probably the best way
to put it. And Shane Sacking did say he's doing
some weight room stuff. But again I stand by nothing eminent.
You know, I asked Steven Holder yesterday when we had
him on, you know, better chance to play in December,
Sauce Gardner or Anthony Richardson, And I think the bet
(04:19):
there would be Sauce Gardner. So you know, I've gotten
a lot of the Richardson questions lately. James, I'm sure
you have as well. But I would to summarize it all,
I'd say it's still very much up in the air
if he's going to play again this season. Having said that,
he is at least back in the building and starting
to do some stuff. But as Shane Steck can point
(04:41):
it out, you know, clearance means full vision in the eye.
That's not just hey man, your ankle is a little
bit twisted, go ahead and tape it up and play
on it. I mean, this is a little bit of
a different injury situation, and to be fair to you,
you actually were correct. He did not go to the
Kansas City game. That was the Forrest Buckner.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
But according to even hold Her, the hope is that
Richardson can attend some upcoming road games, perhaps this week.
And he was a Florida guy, Florida native, so maybe
he'll be able to work from that area.
Speaker 6 (05:08):
Right.
Speaker 5 (05:08):
Yeah, So it's unfortunately he never really got a chance
to play down there.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
Now I think about it, Anthony Richardson has not lost
to Jacksonville on the road. Well, eight Colts quarterbacks have
lost to the Jags in this streak, not Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
Lord, I don't know. I couldn't name all eight. I'd
probably give you four or five.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
Oh, you can name all eight.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
I don't name all eight, No, I really could.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
We can come up between the.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Two play the game.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Andrew Luck obviously, right, that's one Andrew Luck, Philip Rivers,
Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco, gardnermanship to Kobe Brissett.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
I mean is that I think.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
I gotta go back to my notes. But you guys
are you guys are on a roll?
Speaker 7 (05:50):
Guy?
Speaker 2 (05:51):
Get six of the eight there?
Speaker 8 (05:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (05:53):
I think that's six of the eight. Boy, I gotta
think of Scott told Zine starting down there at one point,
I gotta go back. I'm trying to think you guys
are missing Matt Ryan.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
I do remember that seven. You guys are missing one,
all right?
Speaker 5 (06:07):
So right off, who we have?
Speaker 4 (06:09):
You got Wentz, Luck, Rivers, Flacco, Minshew Bersett, and we've
got Matt Ryan, Hasselbeck, Matt Hasselbeck, James. We talked about
this in the media room yesterday. I'll never forget this
game when this and by the way, I have a
dose of optimism here that I will get to okay.
But to start the streak twenty fifteen, the Colts had
(06:31):
won sixteen straight AFC South games. I think that's one
of the more remarkable stats that is crazy, frankly in
the NFL history, that the Colts had won sixteen straight
divisional games going into a Jacksonville game late season twenty fifteen,
it was Matt Hasselbeck under center. This is when the
Andrew Luck shoulder issues started. The Cults were leading near
(06:54):
halftime of that game. I vaguely remember some sort of
strip sack situation and the Cults so losing their lead
in Jacksonville scoring. I want to say it was like
forty unanswered the rest of the game. The Colts lost
fifty one to sixteen back in that twenty fifteen season
down there. That ended the course of the sixteen game
(07:15):
AFC South streak, and it has started this streak now,
which is ten years now, the dose of optimism which
we need, this streak of colts Hell again. The Colts
have a better chance to win in Alcatraz than they
do in Jacksonville. Started Week fourteen of the twenty fifteen season.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
What Sunday, Oh, it's week fourteen of the twenty twenty
five season.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
So ten years ago to the exact week it started,
it shall end.
Speaker 6 (07:46):
So there's a chance.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
How about that full circle.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
That's optimism, folks. That's not a curse. That's not drinking
glass half empty. That's saying the cults are going to
go down there and do exactly what they did week
one and the streak jumping the pool afterwards. Does a
pool still exist down there in that stadium?
Speaker 2 (08:07):
I think it rains it's going to be a pool.
Uh minus one and a half. Still the line the
Cults still favored in this one, So the bookmakers still
like the Colts.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
James, would you post up Blake groupie Colts kicker? Would
you go Mouse in the house? Would you go Patrick Bevner.
Speaker 5 (08:23):
Normally I would joke about this and say, oh, absolutely not.
But yes, he's he's a very small guy. You can
get lost with you.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
Seven six for Blake groupie suitcase still in front of
the locker. I believe he said he's been in three
hotel rooms.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
So I like to ride the scale on that too.
For one fifty six, I'm dead serious on you think
soaking wet? Yeah, I think that's one of those things
where you know, we all had it in high school.
Our coach gives us an extra inch ten to fifteen
pounds on the roster because yeah, that's a small dude,
but there I have some high expectations for him. It's
really just stabilized. They're kicking you in and he certainly
(09:00):
comes with his Wartz missed eight of twenty six kicks
this year, not a good number. Has missed two I
believe within the thirty to thirty nine range. I want
to say maybe three between the forty and forty nine range.
So that is something to note going forward. But I
think and you talked about this Kevin yesterday when we're
in the media room, you had to do something. From
(09:22):
an optic standpoint, a guy can't keep missing point after
attempts and you keep him around, especially because I don't
know if it's just me, but from a psychological standpoint,
I wonder how much that weighs on a team when
you feel like you can't even make the chip shots
the gimmes. I think it's more you can forgive a
player more, even as a teammate, if he misses a
field goal, versus missing like, dude, we just went all
(09:44):
the way down here to score, and you just killed
our entire vibe because you can't make the easiest kick
you'll ever have.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Yeah, and optically for sure, but then again, numerically on Sunday,
it obviously impacted you from having to get a touchdown
late in the game, Yes, whereas I would agree you
could have needed tangible for sure. And you know, if
you look at the rest of these games, and Jeff,
you just pointed out the Colts are what a one
point favorite coming up on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
And a half. Don't forget the half.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
One and a half, I mean they are. I was
doing some like look aheads at the rest of the season.
I want to say, it's like a three point spread underdog.
The next two weeks after this they played Jacksonville again
in week seventeen. They're a one and a half point
favorite for that one. The Houston game currently to end
the season, they're like a four point underdog. I mean
you were talking one, two, three, four point spreads. I mean,
(10:31):
this is a far cry from earlier in the year
where you were, you know, touchdown touchdown plus favorites in
several of these games. I bring up all that to
say kicking matters. I mean, hell, last year you saw
the Jags rookie kicker, you know, bang one home from
long distance for the win against you, and Cam Little's
got a hell of the legs. So you know again,
(10:51):
I know that talking about kickers can make you want
to just stab your eyes out, but it matters, and
the cold situation right now is carry as it is.
It matters.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
How interesting I said this, yesterhon, But how interesting would
be if it comes down to a Blake Groupie field
goal one point difference to end the streak.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
And like Mark Dyton putting his daughters on his shoulders
at Disney World Gromer Stewart putting Blake Groupy on his
shoulders and just carrying him back to Indianapolis.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
I'm just saying the pressure that he would feel and
maybe the organization. I feel like we made a change
of kicker, and now this guy could end the streak
or extend it for another year.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Would you sign up right now for a Blake Groupie
forty six yard game winner to beat Jacksonville by one
on Sunday? If I presented that paper in front of
you and said this could be the end result one
second on the clock, Roads Sanchez Groupie forty six yards
for the win, would you sign up for?
Speaker 2 (11:49):
The question is would you rather have that or Michael
Badgeley at a forty six yard attempt?
Speaker 5 (11:56):
He ain't on the team, so no no from James
Boyd has made a.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Very frobim is if Michael Badsley, ye, would.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
You sign up for that? Would you sign up for that?
Speaker 2 (12:04):
I would because the problem with Michael Badgley was the
kicker is that it would be a four point deficit
at that point, not a not a one point.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
They badly kicked a game winner in Germany, right, that's true.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
I'm still more worried about Trevor Lawrence. You remember what
he did last year in his one appearance against the Colts.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Well, he slicing dice.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
In the last three years, twenty eight of thirty four
for three hundred and seventy one yards, two touchdowns. You'd
throw one pick.
Speaker 5 (12:28):
You know, they traded for Jacobe Myers from the Las
Vegas Raiders. He's had two touchdowns, one in each of
the last two weeks. He's been a pretty good player
for him. So I wonder if that is the matchup
that Javerius Ward would draw.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
Yeah, so I guess to update everybody on where Jacksonville
was at White out Lies. Travis Hunter out for the
year again, Parker Washington their top pass catcher, actually right
now he is injured. He did not practice yesterday. You
know the guy that I think strikes more fear and
a Colts fans based off last year was Brian Thomas Junior. Yeah,
he's regressed a lot, right, but as a rookie, I
mean he torched the Colts.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
He had a great season.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Remember that infamous play of Dallas Flowers trying to jump
and tackle him on that d.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
I believe that was his last game for the Colts too.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
Yeah, and that deep catch last year in the game
down there. So you know, from a I don't know,
a dynamic standpoint, you feel like Thomas Junior would have
a little bit more of that ability. But as you
point out very accurately, he really hasn't done much and
I have him on my big fantasy team and I'm frustrated.
Speaker 5 (13:27):
You'm looking at the last two weeks. Jacobe Myers had
six catches for ninety yards against the Titans in a touchdown,
and then in an overtime win against the Cardinals he
had four catches fifty yards and a touchdown. So again,
he's a guy who can make some plays and veteran
receiver as somebody who's had a pretty decent career so far,
I would say.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
We worried about their running game at all. It's been
it's been okay.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
Yeah, trap CTNS had a nice and you're the guy
that can skewed his lawrence. I mean, he can definitely
make some plays with his legs, So yeah, I think
you keep an eye out for that. What do you think,
Darreen have reades feeling on this Thursday morning optimism that
the visiting team or the home team felt so good
about I you either they storm the floor.
Speaker 5 (14:11):
I don't know if I can go optimism because that's
a bad loss and it really kind of unraveled and
there in the second half.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
For you, should we have rules on the court storm,
you have to be ranked above ius ranked what twenty two?
Speaker 2 (14:23):
You said you like courtstorm anytime?
Speaker 4 (14:25):
Well, yeah, I mean I know I'm in the minority,
and all the people that talk about this.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
Oh, it is longer than the moment. Thing is when
like you have the inevitable idiot fan that gets in
the face of the opposing place, you.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Gotta have security on point.
Speaker 5 (14:37):
Yeah, And if you're just rushing, like if you're a
reasonable person, you're rushing the court, you genuinely actually enjoy
the moment with your friends and you know, take some
pictures or laugh or dance whatever to that's cool. Yeah,
But I just don't like it when you see that
one person who probably had no athletic ability in an
entire life run up to the best player on the
(14:57):
opposing team and say you stink or something like that.
You're just antagonizing with them. At that point.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
It seems like a shot at the lack of athleticism
from some people in the student section.
Speaker 5 (15:06):
Yeah, I hate that. I'm not gonna lie. I always
think about that an athlete. No, Illinois was garbage when
I was in school. That was my senior year, I
believe was Brad Underwood's first season as head coach. So
now that they're actually good again, in credit tend for
rebuilding the program. But yeah, I was there for like
the start of all of that.
Speaker 2 (15:23):
You ever storm the court, Kevin, Oh, I'm.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Trying to think out of Crean. My first three years
are Creane six, nine, and twelve with the three wins. Gosh,
I feel like I feel like it might have been
against Illinois.
Speaker 5 (15:34):
Respect.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Senior year I wrote for the student newspaper bats but
that was the Watshy year and that actould be three tough.
Speaker 5 (15:40):
Teams that year, see that. See, that's the one day
I wouldn't want to be writing. I need to be
down there and enjoy the moment.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
How the hell I mean that atmosphere was?
Speaker 5 (15:48):
I still remember that play. What a moment.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
Darius Miller closing out on Watford. We got to be
coming up on the anniversary of it, right, Yeah? And
is this the first time I U Kentucky have played
since Is that right? Next Saturday?
Speaker 5 (16:00):
AB would know that one big game though. Nevertheless, I
do think.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
I guess at the heisman I saw Dick Vital and
Charles Barkley on the call for that.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
I did say, I'm looking forward to it because it
can be.
Speaker 8 (16:12):
Great.
Speaker 5 (16:12):
It can also be a lot. I don't know what
to expect, but I do love if. I feel like,
if you know those two guys going into it, you
should have tailored expectations and just have fun with it
and to.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
Get sentimental for a moment here. I did see. I
believe that Vital will then do one of the playing
games for the NCAA tournament.
Speaker 5 (16:30):
And he's the perfect guy for that.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
It was when I was reading it they said he's
never called an NCAA tournament game.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
That'll be the first.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
And so this is kind of a you know, a nod,
a nod to obviously ESPN guy, you know, CBS family
of networks being the NCAA tournament turner as well.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
So I think that's cool. It's very cool. One thing
I need to see from any other of those a
little more effort on the boards. At forty to twenty five,
they were out rebounded on the road by Minnesota forty
to twenty five.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
I do like the Florida transfer Alexis, but I do
think there is a little bit of a blueprint of like, hey,
if we can try and suffocate Tucker Devreez and Lamar
Wilkerson as much as we can around the perimeter, let's
just let Indiana try to play one on one in
the post. And yeah, I thought Minnesota, especially that first half,
the second chance points were a really high number there.
So bad, bad loss. You can't play the old road
(17:20):
Big Ten card. But you know you get a great
opportunity Saturday to help the resume, great opportunity next Saturday
at Kentucky to help the resume. I think Louisville loss
last night, did they.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Not did not see? I'll go check.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
I might have been their first loss.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
You're checking that though. I've been seeing a lot of people,
even national outlets, pick up the fact that Don Fisher
is going to get the chance to do the double
dip on Saturday, to get the Louisville Indiana game at
the Fieldhouse in the afternoon, then go over to the
Big Ten championship game. I also happen to see the
annual ranking of local broadcast teams for college football was
(17:55):
put out an Awful Announcing Fish and Bucker number three
overall in the whole country. How about that?
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Well, I didn't know that they did radio team rankings.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Yeah, every year, Awful Announcing does that. And they have
a bunch of.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
People they can they listen to all that.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
It's it's voted on by people all over the country.
But they get grades from their their local listening fans,
and some of those broadcast teams get really low grades
from their fan base. But people love Fish and Buck.
Speaker 4 (18:27):
Hell they should be number one.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Yeah, they, I think in a lot of people's hearts
are number one.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
The state's crew. I won't go back in the higher
marked you'll rip their cords out. Saturday night over there
a Lucas Oil.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
He looks like he's up to no good, got the
black T shirt on, he's ready.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
M that cheapest ticket mark? Will you double check that
for us? I believe I saw north of seven hundred
seven four.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
For a six hundred level, and it looks like it's
like the only six hundred level I'm sitting next to.
Jesus is costs getting me to the partlyage eight.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Or what we're doing something, you might as well go
binoculars from the top of the JW. I'm watching through
the window.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Section six twenty five RO twenty eight. So you are
away up there, you're touching, You're touching the Lord right there. Yeah,
seven o eight gets you in the door.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
I asked us in all seriousness, in the day and
age of tickets being transferred from a mobile standpoint.
Speaker 5 (19:19):
Yeah, do we still scalp? I don't even know how
that works. I was gonna say, yeah, that's a good question.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
See, because I feel like there's no worse WiFi in
America than the Wi Fi two hundred feet outside of stadiums.
Speaker 5 (19:32):
Yeah, that is the guy.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
And like you we walk into like Lucas Oil or something,
you'll see the guys outside the conventions like I need tickets.
Speaker 5 (19:38):
I'm like, how do you have? Who's getting because alas.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Feel like you're a you're a scammer from now emailing
you and then the.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Work and can you transfer those like you transfer like contacts.
You just hold your phones up next to each other
like you do pictures.
Speaker 5 (19:51):
I don't know if I'm swapping contact with a stranger.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
Talking about tickets though, if you got your tickets on
your phone, can you just transfer over to the phone
next and.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
Probably transfer your credit card number two or something.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
This just reminds me of what, here's my social security,
here's my will, here's everything else.
Speaker 5 (20:08):
This reminds me of every year when Bob Cravis used
to travel with the Athletic with us, we would go
to a Nashville Predators game on that Saturday before they
play the Titans and.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Fly on the wall that I remember.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
We were going one year and Bob got I think
it was me, him and Alexa maybe somebody else tickets
because he knew somebody that from that area. And we
get to the freaking gate to go in and he's like,
I can't find the tickets and I'm like, what are
you talking about? And he says, they sit there in
my wallet. I don't know how to get to my wallet,
and he just takes his phone and holds it out
(20:43):
like it's like a like a pancake. He's like, he's like,
help me find it. Community, Yeah, sir, so I had
to go the tickets had because if we stood in
this long line and you didn't downloa the tickets or
something like that. And as you mentioned Kevin Wi Fi
Shati boy. He had me on edge for a little bit.
Speaker 6 (20:59):
More got him.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
I love me some Bob Kravitz. He knows technology like
I know met Gala fashion. I will say this though,
the man can mangle. So we got a nice little
sweet and got to eat for free, and I watched
my first hockey game in person.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
My favorite thing was.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
Kevin mentioning his will is on his phone as a
QR coach.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
See what Memal left me?
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Man, it should be in here somewhere.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
Al's just scan that Vaz I always wanted.
Speaker 8 (21:23):
Give me a second.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
I think my face ID isn't isn't isn't really clicking
for me right now?
Speaker 2 (21:27):
James is correct. Ohio State was the number one ranked
local broadcast about that.
Speaker 5 (21:32):
Oh I didn't even that was a Kevin guest, but Kevin.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Yeah, I was. It was Ohio State number one cap
all the way.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
He definitely got to rip out their cords. Coming up
on Saturday, Mark get on it.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Uh. They said some nice things about fish and book
though we'll get to some of that, but also Patchers
struggled at home last night against the Denver Nuggets. More
on the Cults coming up. Against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Thad
Model from Butler Basketball on the way at eight thirty
that's to do. Stick with us here at ninety three
five and one oh seven five the.
Speaker 8 (21:54):
Fan, Good morning.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
It can only mean one thing as we get running
and talks some basketball. It's getting in the middle of
December here, getting some games under our belt, and things
are going well over at Hinklefield House. For our next guest,
that Model, the head basketball coach for the Butler Bulldogs,
who joined us on the Paidlesslickers hotline this morning. Coach,
I would think, so far, so good. You're pretty pleased
with the development of this team. Good morning, and and
(22:19):
how how are things going over there for you?
Speaker 6 (22:22):
You know, pretty good? Pretty good. We're uh, you know,
like you said, I'm pleased with the development we're making.
I still think we've got a long long way to go.
And and but I think every team's like that, every
coach is like that. And you know, we've got to
act a stretch coming up here starting Saturday with boys
stayed a really really good team and you are our
(22:44):
thing is as we tell our guys, we just going
to be better today than we were yesterday. And you
know so far of this group is a tremendous work ethic,
and you know, we had a little bit of a
quick prep for Saturday's game. They haven't played for probably
a week and a half since Maui, and you know,
we just got to keep coaching, teaching and doing the
best we can to get our guys the best they
(23:05):
can be to play together. And I think, you know,
we're starting to cut down on more of our mental mistakes.
I'm never going to be completely satisfied with that, but
I don't know. We're competing and that's a good thing.
Speaker 5 (23:20):
Sad when you look at Finley Bizjack and I was
actually watching some of his highlights the other day, how
long did it take you to be okay? With that
jump skip pass he does. It's kind of like a
wrap around that head. It's hard to describe, but it
looks fancy and you know it's pretty effective. But is
there a part of you it's like, hold on, relax,
just be basic.
Speaker 6 (23:41):
Well, if you remember, we finally got Fenn to stop
jumping on the bait or jumping out of bounds and
throwing it to the other team his first year and
a half here, And so as long as he's completing
that pass that you're talking about. I'm perfectly fine with it.
But I'll say this talking he's a little bit of
a risk, and I like that. I like guys that
(24:03):
I don't want a whole team full of him, that's
for sure, but I think that, you know, a lot
of the things he does is calculated. But you know,
against Easter Michigan, and we talked about it with him,
he had two turners where he left his feet and
turned it over and Ben wants to these are perfections.
He wants to play perfect every time. And you know,
he's a very very coachable kid. But I like the
(24:26):
way that he's attacking right now on offense and defense.
He's playing great defense.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
Absolutely, Yeah, He's definitely someone I just feel like you
want to probably coach that down a little bit instid
of coach it up as far as the aggressiveness and
the creativity, and then looking at his overall numbers, what
do you think has led to him being not only
a better scorer this year probably more opportunity granted, but
also the efficiency because he's not you know, averaging nineteen
(24:52):
on twenty two shots. I mean, he's been a very
efficient player. This year.
Speaker 6 (24:56):
Well, you know, he can really really shoot the ball.
And he's still in terms of how hardy works on
his game. And and then I said, I think last
week things were starting to slow down for him a
little bit, just in terms of reading defenses and reading
situations and and that that's the development you hope all
your players eventually make. And but no, he is. He's
(25:19):
playing very efficiently right now and us percentages are high,
and we we need that with him right now.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
I started the year for the Butler Bulldogs stad Motta
with this year on the Payless Slickers hotline, as he said,
Boise State coming up on Saturday, Red Panda in the
building at Hinklefield House Saturday.
Speaker 6 (25:36):
After you guys, I tell you guys a great story. Yes,
when when I was retired, like I was going to
Butler games, I never knew that they did halftime shows.
I never knew that they did stuff at timeouts, like
putting a golf ball or you know, run around a
baseball bat and trying to make a layup. And I
didn't know that. I was always busy. And so this
(26:00):
lady comes out on a unicycle or whatever it's called,
and I'm like, what is going on, and my wife says, watch,
she's going to throw these bulls up and she never drops.
I've seen this for years, and it was the first
time ever. I guess she had dropped them and she
dropped to them or something. And my friends and I
(26:20):
still laugh about it because I'd never seen it before. That.
That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen, though,
that lady doing that.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
She's a top five athlete of our generation.
Speaker 6 (26:27):
Coach, Oh, without a doubt, without a doubt. I mean,
you think about the coordination, you have to have, the concentration.
I mean, that's big time.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
The bright lights of Hinkle get to everybody here and
you're hoping it gets to the road team coming on
on Saturday. I want to go back to Tuesday Night. Mark,
our great producer, played a little Western music for you
on the lead in that got a little got a
little Western chippiness on Tuesday Night? Did it not?
Speaker 6 (26:51):
It really did? It really did. In fact, I my
daughter and I were talking after a game, we're going
to get a player rejected every game at the crowd going.
Our crowd got into that game after that thing happened,
and uh no, that was a kind of electrified Hinkle,
which hopefully he'll continue. And uh, but that was that
was a rough physical uh you know, loose balls scrapping
(27:13):
and Eastern Michigan was playing really hard as well.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
Any update on the ankle, Andrew Jalen Jackson, No.
Speaker 6 (27:20):
We're still uh waiting and he's out, he's still in
the boot and and uh we just we we don't
know yet. You know, hopefully we're going to know something here,
but he has he has not practiced, so you know,
we definitely definitely miss him. There's no question about that.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
I like that. Get back to that that chippiness. The
other night there was a quote in the Indie Star
from Findley Bisjack who said, we had a media timeout
and I told everyone this is a bar fight.
Speaker 8 (27:46):
Do you remember that moment.
Speaker 6 (27:49):
I don't think I was in there yet. Uh, but
I like that. I like that, And uh it's uh
uh kind of what it turned into, just with the physicality,
there's no question about it.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
So what do we need to get done here as
a team between now and really the full on start
of conference playing a couple of weeks, Like, what do
you want to get accomplished here?
Speaker 6 (28:10):
Well? I want to continue to develop our offense and
and just continue to get our flow better. And I
think we got to get the ball moving quicker, and
we got to cut harder. I think, you know, defensively,
continuing to know the coverages that we're in and which
are ever changing. It depends on who we have in
the game, who they have in the game, and just
(28:32):
just alleviating, you know, some of the mental mistakes and
which is you know, it's playing games, it's it's teaching,
coaching and film in a long, long film session yesterday,
and you know, just just trying to continue to play
better basketball, sound er basketball and doing all the fundamental things.
And you know, I tell you, guys are day and
(28:53):
we can't take a step forward take two steps backwards.
We got to we got to keep moving forward. And
then these guys have been good with that.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
One more from me, Stink Robinson. I remember watching him
at Lawrence North throughout the years, a very talented player.
How have you seen him just develop and grow more
and more when it comes to the college game.
Speaker 6 (29:14):
You know, it's amazing because you know, we're jaling out
this summer and we've talked to other staff. He's gotten
a lot of reps and now you know, he's moved
into the starting lineup and he's probably playing more than
most freshmen have the opportunity to. And Xavier's a guy
that he wants to please, he wants to do things,
and I just see his development. He just continues to grow.
(29:38):
And you know, one of the things that we got
to him do is is he leads us in files
right now and he's picking up a couple of files
a game that he probably doesn't need to. But I
think you're just going to continue to see him get
better and better and better.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Coach is always thanks for joining us during the course
of the week. We look forward to saying how you
do this week and against Boise Stateton will do it
again next week. Have fun, all right?
Speaker 6 (29:58):
Sounds good guys.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
Thanks.
Speaker 5 (30:01):
Yeah, let's go to Palos Liquers hotline. We have Scott
Agnes from Fieldhouse Files to way in on these Pacers. Scott,
how you.
Speaker 6 (30:08):
Doing good morning, James doing well?
Speaker 5 (30:11):
How about you? I'm doing good? I mean you got
to you know, watch and all of us did a
historic performance last night, not in favor of the Pacers
with Jamal Murray going off there and when you look
at that game last night. That second quarter in particular,
what do you think was the issue was kind of
letting the rope go there?
Speaker 7 (30:29):
Yeah, first of all, I mean that's what I love
so much about the nbas On any given night, you
never know who's going to get go off. I mean,
he was in the zone of all zones, knocking down
ten of eleven three pointers.
Speaker 8 (30:42):
So that was a lot of fun.
Speaker 7 (30:43):
Now in terms of these runs, yeah, it continues to
be a repetitive issue for this Pacers team. For me,
some of the things that stood out was just not
getting back on defense, Like how many times are you
going to get let Yokic grab a rebound after a
make and throw it eighty feet down the court and
potentially get a layup? Like it was those little things.
(31:07):
I know that there was a little zone action that
the Pacers went against and such, But more than anything,
I think Jokich was just it didn't even look like
he tries out there. That's what's so almost insulting about
the way in which he plays, right, I think he's
kind of mastered what Lebron did so well and does
so well if he gives the amount of energy that's
(31:30):
needed for that situation and so he realizes, Hey, tonight,
it's Jamal Murray's night, and what a combination you have.
Speaker 5 (31:37):
And when you think about it.
Speaker 7 (31:40):
They were without Aaron Gordon, who would have a favorable
matchup and all that. So the reality is they won
a couple games with then faced back to back playoff
opponents and didn't fair very well.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
Scott, I wanted to get more into boots on the ground.
You went up to Noblesville and checked out Victor Aldipo
and I could have sworn I saw him court side
for the Pacers Bulls game over the weekend there, but
Victor Aldiepo trying to make a comeback currently g leaguing
it up. What did you think of Victor and his
potential NBA return?
Speaker 7 (32:12):
Yeah, so he was courtside, was sitting kind of near
the visitors bench row one right there for that PACER's
Bulls game and really felt the love from Pacer fans.
He was saying and still believes and feels like this
as his second home. He acknowledges some of the mistakes
that he's made in the past and decisions he's made.
But first of all, from that standpoint, KB, one of
(32:35):
the big things he was emphasizing to me postgame was
I'm a change man. A lot of things you know,
didn't go my way and I've had to figure it
out and work around them and judge me on who
I am today is what he would say. And on
the court he's a guy that would show his old self.
Speaker 6 (32:54):
Several different instances. There's one player that sticks.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Out to me.
Speaker 7 (32:57):
He took the ball out, threw it in, got it
right back and dribbled right into it, dribble pull up
fifteen feet out and nailed the jumper right. But the
main thing right now he's dealing with is getting himself
back up to shape back into condition. So he's playing
four and five minute birth twenty minutes or so maybe
per game.
Speaker 8 (33:17):
Is in this for the long haul, with the hope
that maybe come the.
Speaker 7 (33:22):
End of this year twenty twenty five or maybe trade deadline,
that he'll get some looks for the NBA as he
tries to a test comeback. Because he had that torn
quad tenon that everyone here remembers, which surgery did not
go well, and he had the same injury like a
year later, and then he dealt with a petella and
(33:44):
attending issue on the other leg, which kept him out
of basketball for two years as he kind of got
all of those things straightened out.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
I don't know if you asked this directly somebody, I'm
asking you to offer an opinion on it, but you know,
you kind of alluded to him. I think maybe some
regret and his exit here or how it ended. Does he,
you know, have that regret And if he could go
back and hindsight it up, what do you think that
would be.
Speaker 7 (34:14):
Yeah, it wasn't specific to one process or how he
handled any I think the number one thing, and now
this is me speculating, is the people he had around him,
and that was well, that's what doomed his situation. Is
he had a lot of yes men, a lot of
people that he can't trust around him. I mean, I
don't know if it's still active, but at one time
(34:34):
he was suing his manager for stealing money from him
and to open a nightclub up in New York City,
for example. And so I think he got a little.
Speaker 6 (34:44):
Too his ego got a little bit too.
Speaker 7 (34:46):
Big, and then he started listening to the wrong people
and that didn't go over well. But he did not
specifically get into this and that, and you know, moving
on from here and those sorts of things. But yeah,
all have a lot more in a story to come.
But it was a very reflective conversation I thought from
(35:07):
him and where he's at today, and people may not
know he's a father now and he's as you would know.
He's talked about how much impact that has had on
him over the last three years as well.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Scott Agnes joining us on the Paylistickers hotline right now
covers all things that Indiana Pacers and the Fever as well.
But while we're talking about Victor Oladepot, what's your sense
can he physically become a rotational player again in the NBA?
Speaker 6 (35:30):
That'll be tough.
Speaker 7 (35:31):
I think, Jeff I do just from the physical limitations
more than anything. I view him right now as could
potentially be kind of in that James Johnson role with
more ability to play. He still can give you some
good minutes. He still knows the game very well, he
can still knock down some shots, but I just don't
(35:53):
know if his body can go through there and give
you twenty minutes per game at that level, which is
at a whole for a level obviously than the G League.
So I think that's what he's trying to figure out
and show to the NBA teams right now in the
next couple of weeks that the G League showcase that
not only can he play some, but he's also now
(36:14):
a willing teammate. He's willing to do whatever it takes
to be on an NBA roster, and he's trying to
show that right now.
Speaker 5 (36:21):
Scott shifting the energy back to the current Pacers, how
would you assess Jarris Walker over the last month or so?
Speaker 7 (36:30):
Inconsistent, incomplete, sometimes overthinking. I think that's kind of the
great issue that I think he deals with paf Gal
Siakam talked about it after a game I want to say,
a week or two ago. And it goes for the
most of the roster. Right when guys are putting these
new spots where so much is demanded of them, do
(36:52):
they go outside themselves or do they kind of rise
to the occasion.
Speaker 8 (36:56):
And Jerris leaves a.
Speaker 7 (36:58):
Lot on that bone that we know is there, James,
but we were ready to see it elevate. Right he'll
be in the starting lineup and then and then not.
Speaker 6 (37:07):
This is a group that has.
Speaker 7 (37:07):
Had a lot of inconsistencies with that lineup and with rotations,
and maybe he's a guy like me and doesn't like
change very often, or he doesn't adapt very well to it.
Speaker 5 (37:18):
But no, he's one of those players.
Speaker 7 (37:20):
I agree James that you know there's a lot more there,
you just haven't seen it nearly enough.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
Scott Agnes from field House Files, where you can find
his work. Scott will shift gears again. We'll go a
little fever. WNBA. We know Caitlin Clark and Aleiah Boston
with TMOSA coming up. I believe that's next week with
their team camp. But also we saw news from a
league standpoint. Is it an extension in the negotiating window
(37:46):
for the new CBA? Is that what I saw?
Speaker 7 (37:50):
Yeah, So what the WNBA and the players associations decided
to do was extend the current collective bargaining agreement. So
what was supposed to originally fire at the end of October,
Remember they renewed for another year. Well now they've extended
it even longer through January ninth, mostly so that I
(38:10):
would I believe it's so a lot of these players
can still use team facilities. That's why the players would
want this, right, Like Caitlin and others are at the
facility often getting workouts using the basketball court. Well, if
you're locked out, I can't imagine you're using any of that.
So this allows for this dialogue to continue. It feels
like it's one of those where deadlines continue to help
(38:33):
with the negotiations, Like where was all.
Speaker 6 (38:35):
This discussion months ago?
Speaker 7 (38:37):
Right? Clearly those talks have intensified as it feels like
both sides are tossing out scenarios and seeing what the
other side is willing to deal with or willing to
take part with, because there's the reality is there's just
so many issues at hands here KB that they have
(38:57):
to sort through, from minimum contracts, revenue sharing on down.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
Scott has always great to talk to you, great with
your insight, and we will see you again very soon.
I'mn absolutely thanks goud Is Scott Agnes. Check him out
on Fieldhouse Files and he keeps you very up to
date on everything that's going on with both the Pacers
and the Indiana Fever. And I'm excited to see Caitlyn
Clark wearing some some red, white and blue. Finally he'll
be good.
Speaker 4 (39:21):
Yeah, So again team camp for them. So I don't
think anything on official like kind of game status but
getting ready for I believe it's a World Cup in
September that would obviously be next year, and I think
it's Brazil, so yeah her ear Leah Boston. It's kind
of a combo with the team mios Pool. There are
some older players that have been a part of all
these gold medals they've won, but then definitely a big
(39:42):
younger crowd as well. Caitlyn Clark Leo Boston would probably
fall more into that crowd. By the way, Mark you
said you're out Friday Monday.
Speaker 5 (39:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
Do we have some birthdays? We do here cloroughly do clorally.
Can we wish some happy birthday?
Speaker 2 (40:00):
Jeff, happy birthday? I'm not aware of the actual birthdays.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
Well, I believe we'll start with the man to the
right of you, James Boyd. Happy early birthdays.
Speaker 5 (40:10):
I turned thirty tomorrow. Get out a new decade.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
Look at that the Big three? Uh boy, how's it
feel last day of the decade.
Speaker 5 (40:21):
I'm feeling old, you know. I woke up back was creaking.
I joked with my dad about this. She's like, boy,
if you don't shut up and get off my phone.
I'm looking forward to it. Though people are say like
man like, how did it feel?
Speaker 6 (40:30):
It?
Speaker 5 (40:30):
Is it feeling different? No, you just wake up and
then you're a day older than you were Spotify. Let's
say you were, Oh, I don't have Spotify. I mean,
but I would imagine it's pretty young. I listen to
a lot of rap music, not not really anything else,
but excited about it. I have a twin sisters. So
she's a lot more into it than I am. You know,
I'm coming to work and I'm like, if I get
a good meal, I'm good and go hoop or something
like that. She sent me a video the other day, guys,
(40:53):
and she has like two or three suitcases packed for
like this little weekend church taking with her friends. And yeah,
it's it's been a whole thing. She's for outfits for months.
So shout out to Jessica Jacksonville. Come on, now, that's
your birthday weekend.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
Get that suit from from Berlin Celeby. I'm not gonna
be mad to go anywhere hot. You know, Birthday weekend.
Speaker 4 (41:13):
There's even busters down there. Call your name Saturday Nights.
Speaker 5 (41:16):
I give you some free tokens because it's your birthday.
Speaker 4 (41:18):
Well, a happy birthday to James, and I believe is
there one on Sunday.
Speaker 5 (41:23):
Yes, sir, the Big four, Oh for your.
Speaker 4 (41:27):
Getting old three moor right here, Mark dyked happy birthday.
I don't like it.
Speaker 5 (41:33):
I don't like it at all. Well, your other options are,
you know, not living, so you should like it more,
Mark Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
My mom cut like a piece of pumpkin pies, like
everybody gather. I'm like, don't do this, nobody wants this.
Don't sing this, Mark.
Speaker 4 (41:45):
We'll get you some icy hot and we'll get you
I don't know, maybe a blue pill or anything else.
Speaker 3 (41:50):
No blue pills yet, but like, what do you want
to do on something like? I want to sit on
my couch and watch football. That's all I want to do.
I'm a true old man.
Speaker 5 (41:57):
My mom's kind of mad that I'm not like going
all out, just like it's a Milestone's this that I'm like, look, man,
we're in the season. I told you. My sister's going
all out.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
She looks for me.
Speaker 5 (42:06):
She's been looking for a birthday outfits for months and
I'm not kidding, so she's got She's got to come
from me and her.
Speaker 4 (42:11):
I do think the Mark. I don't know if you
felt this way about like any of your friends. I
was talking to Matt Taylor about it the other I
think Matt Taylor and you were right around the same age.
I'm thirty six, so it's not like I'm far off.
But Matt Taylor was talking to me a practice the
other day. He was like he starting off with like, wait,
how old are you again? He's like, dude, wait till
you get right around forty. He's like, the forty birthday
(42:32):
is like the new twenty one and that like people
do stuff for it. Yeah, because I think they're like
post kids. You know, you're post having kids, and so
it's better be it's like the truth on that. Yeah,
it's like, here's our opportunity to kind of turn back
the clock and do something fun. So like the fortieth
birthday more so than maybe the thirtieth birthday is a
(42:54):
little bit more of like, hey, let's have a party,
Let's go to whatever a bar and watch the game,
Let's get some friends to gather, let's, you know whatever,
take a little trip around here.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
So yeah, we'll see what happens. I'm already getting birthday gifts.
Some people I don't get birthday gifts from, and I'm like,
you don't need to do this like, what's forty It's
a big deal.
Speaker 4 (43:10):
I'm like, is it?
Speaker 5 (43:10):
I guess sure, I'll take I'll take the free gifts.
Speaker 4 (43:12):
A man, this man just wants the Bears win on something.
Speaker 5 (43:15):
Yeah, there you simple man, the boy.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
There you go, Mark, Happy birthday. What's on your mind
this morning? What can we do for you here? Questions?
Speaker 8 (43:27):
How about a game?
Speaker 2 (43:28):
They have got answers. I'm more of a you know,
corn hole man myself.
Speaker 1 (43:32):
Sports music, movies, what high fashion?
Speaker 5 (43:36):
Bet hants?
Speaker 2 (43:37):
All so hot right now?
Speaker 8 (43:38):
And everything in between.
Speaker 1 (43:40):
You see a foot with four to two each time
to get a glimpse into the mind of Mark Dyke.
Speaker 8 (43:46):
Didn't stop it.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
You scaring me each time for I gotta know, okay,
you punk.
Speaker 5 (43:51):
I wrote a good clean Fike.
Speaker 4 (43:53):
Let's get it on.
Speaker 3 (43:58):
Brady's saying that he's got some blue pills if I
need anyhow, I said, I'll meet them in the parking
lot after the show. All right, let's keep it real
simple here. And I can't believe this is going to
be one of the questions to start the show off.
Will the Colts make the playoffs?
Speaker 5 (44:10):
Yes or no?
Speaker 2 (44:14):
Yes, I'll start it off. I think I'm gonna win
on Sunday, and I think that they're going to finish
the last five weeks three and two. I do think
this team is gonna pull it back together. I think
they're gonna be eleven and six, and I think they'll
be probably playing that first weekend. But maybe hosting what gives.
Speaker 5 (44:31):
You that confidence that they're going to turn it around
in Jacksonville.
Speaker 2 (44:33):
Because I don't think that the I know it was
against lesser competition, but I still think they are much
closer to the team that we saw in the first
half of you than the team we saw the last
week or two.
Speaker 4 (44:42):
Yeah, I will say yes. I really think those three
wildcard teams like Kansas City Houston coming up on Sunday
is definitely going to be a big game. The Colts
really would have to bottom out, I think to get
all the way to the eighth spot. Like I'm talking
a one in for finish in the one win not
being a divisional game. So yeah, I'm not as comfortable
(45:06):
with my yes as maybe Jeff is, but I will
say yes.
Speaker 5 (45:11):
You know, I want to be pessimistic here, but I'm
gonna go yes.
Speaker 4 (45:14):
Even with the loss on Sunday. That's what you've been
saying all week.
Speaker 5 (45:17):
Yeah, but that's my caveat. They won't win the division.
They'll get in as a wildcard. That was my next question.
Are they gonna win the AFC s.
Speaker 4 (45:23):
Yeh see, I think it's more in that wildcard r
you know, Houston, James. We talked about this in the
media room yesterday. I think if you polled AFC teams
right now and said what team would you least like
to face in the playoffs out of the AFC South,
it would be Houston.
Speaker 5 (45:37):
Yeah, that defense is for real.
Speaker 4 (45:38):
But there's still a full game back of Jacksonville and Indy.
So they and they got Kansas City Sunday night. They've
got some heavy lifting, a little bit more schedule wise,
definitely than Jacksonville. Not Indy, but definitely Jacksonville the rest
of the way. So yeah, Mark, I'll say, I'll say
it's a wildcard.
Speaker 5 (45:51):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
Sticking with the Colts with your time of year, how
many Pro Bowlers? What's have I know, obviously the Pro
Bowl game doesn't mean much, but you still get some
some ups and pay for making the Pro Bowl. How
many Pro Bowl selections and we're talking first, we're not
talking about like reserves and all that stuff. How many
is the alternate right? How many Pro bowlers will the
Colts have? I'm I'm setting the over under at three
(46:14):
and a half.
Speaker 5 (46:15):
I'm trying to think Jonathan Taylor's in. Yeah, I would
say that's the biggest layup of them all.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
I like Tyler Warren and Quentin Neilson.
Speaker 4 (46:26):
Yeah, I think those three are pretty close to locks.
Speaker 3 (46:28):
Daniel Jones or No, he actually got a pretty good
well fan support.
Speaker 4 (46:33):
Yeah he does early on. I mean Jones might be
one of those ones that gets invited mark and that
he doesn't play because the fibula. I'll say those through.
Oh boy, I probably stop with those three. I mean
cam bine them.
Speaker 7 (46:44):
I that name.
Speaker 4 (46:46):
You know, he's he's a showman. I said, all serious,
and I think I would help us call and rio
Berto Sanchez. Honestly, is that a really good year? So
but I'm gonna stick with three.
Speaker 5 (46:56):
I'll take the over and pick one of the specialists.
Sanchez or Luke Rose makes a long snap away for
that Blake groupie late late arrival. I'm not picking him.
Speaker 4 (47:06):
I saw that I had to rub my eyes on
Sunday when I saw like Michael Badgeley I think one
of the field goals he made and the Colts did
hashtag Pro Bowl vote.
Speaker 5 (47:14):
Yeah, tru. Do you think there's any defensive players besides
Kim Bay.
Speaker 4 (47:18):
I think Buckner with the injury hurts him, and I
don't Sauce. Gardner wasn't that high on the Ensauces injury obviously,
but I didn't think Sauce was a high up on
the fan vote as I thought. Franklin, I I to me,
he doesn't, you know. The tackle number was so high
in recent years is not as high this year. So
I'll say three, I'll go four.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
I'll say three.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
Okay, let's stick with the Colts one more time. Blake
Groopie your comfortability level on Sunday from his distance now,
he's actually hit it from like mid fifties and beyond,
so I mean he maybe he's a lot of that
one hundred and fifty pounds is like in the hamstring
or something like that.
Speaker 5 (47:54):
Do you believe that's the only thing I can think of?
Speaker 2 (47:56):
Do you believe that he's gonna be all fixed with
his special team coach from Notre Dame Kevin?
Speaker 4 (48:02):
Yeah, I mean distance markets kind of an interesting way
to ask it. Yeah, I mean, like, I don't think
he'll be short from fifty two distance, right. I thought
Mark said distance.
Speaker 3 (48:12):
Now I'm just saying, yeah, if you're lying, if I
mean you send you trotting him out there for like
fifty two yard attempts right out of the gate.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
I mean with a game on the line, perhaps, but
you know, I don't know if that's something you know,
down and distance, fourth and whatever that's going to depend
on it. Again, I'm not overly comfortable with them. My
bars simply do just make the extra points and no
be disastrous. And the short field goals.
Speaker 5 (48:36):
He has had trouble though on some of the short
field goals. Just point that out rights. For the question
he's been if I had to scale it one to ten,
I would probably be at like a six as far
as my confidence in him.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
Not a thirty year old and you kicking in, you're
getting a little more nervous all of a sudden.
Speaker 5 (48:54):
Maybe Jeff.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
Not comfortable with any kicker they've been putting out since
their Maine kicker got hurt at the beginning of the year.
Speaker 5 (49:05):
Spencer Trader, I will give you my leg I am,
I am.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
I'm happy that they're going to have extra points made
because it changes the entire complexion of the scoring and
the game and how you approach things. But I'm not
going to be any more confident if he lines up
for a forty eight yard than I was when Michael
Badgley was was lining up for a forty eight yard.
Speaker 5 (49:23):
I'm thinking that same thing.
Speaker 3 (49:24):
All right, what are we watching? Before we wrap them
and get into a checkdown? What are we watching?
Speaker 2 (49:27):
I have?
Speaker 3 (49:28):
I will strongly recommend the new season of Stranger Things.
It's breaking broken up into three parts. The first four
episodes are out. They are excellent, So if you've been
holding off on getting on that, sign up for that
one pluribus five episodes in. It is fantastic, But highly
recommend that as well. What are you guys watching?
Speaker 2 (49:45):
I've been so busy the last two weeks outside of work.
I still want to watch the last episode and a
half of The Diplomat that I told you two weeks ago.
Speaker 5 (49:55):
I was trying to watch Get On Mercy. I've had
time to watch TV show I'll go Purvis as well.
Strangers Thing that just started it back up. It's funny
looking at all these children who are now adults in
real life. And I've started land Man season two. I
know we got one of our listeners, Aaron out in Minnesota,
has been on me. Aaron, I will have a review
(50:17):
for you, hopefully after this weekend.
Speaker 4 (50:19):
Mark, I have to hate BYU this week because of
not here names playoff chances. But Maddie Bone continues to
watch Mormon Wives.
Speaker 2 (50:26):
You did get sucked into that? Then?
Speaker 4 (50:28):
Tell you what. You walk in the room and you
see what's on the TV, and it's hard to look
away from.
Speaker 5 (50:32):
Yeah, if you catch my drift.
Speaker 2 (50:34):
Okay, just because your wife is so beautiful, right, just
watching her watch TV is tremendous stuff for you, right.
Speaker 4 (50:40):
Well, that is a given.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
Yeah, Kevin's like, are we why are we watching? Why
are you taking notes here? What are you doing?
Speaker 4 (50:47):
All right, it's time to make some money. The great
Jason Hammer in studio with us right now. You hear
him every afternoon on our sister station, that would be
WIBC Hammer and Nigel Degenerates next door the podcasts an
oh boy, Jason Hammer. We have got a great slate.
We've got an awesome Thursday night game, some big, big
time local flavor. I'll leave it up to you. Where
(51:10):
would you like to begin first.
Speaker 9 (51:11):
Like, this is such a fun time right now, right
like downtown Indie. I know it's gonna be cold, but
it's gonna be a rocket on Saturday. You've got basketball,
You've got football, colts have a meaningful game. So even
though he's walked out of the studio right now, I
feel like the perfect person to bring all of this together,
the big awesome sports landscape that we've got going on
right here in central Indie. Here to be the voice
(51:34):
of reason, ladies and gentlemen, Ai jeff Rickard.
Speaker 10 (51:38):
Look, we can talk about the NFL, or we can
give the people what they want and talk about cycling.
That's right, a grown man wearing Spandex and cycling as
a program director. I know from experience that nothing moves
the needle like talking about how cycling makes you better
than most people. People really seem to respond when I
go into gross detail about the super tight all Spandex
(51:59):
outfit I wear as the bicycle seat rubs dangerously close
to my anus and junk. Also, when I'm blocking one
lane streets as you are driving and trying to get
to work, I feel satisfaction.
Speaker 4 (52:08):
Uh huh, sure I.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
Could move over, but hey, screw you. The Spandex makes
the rules.
Speaker 10 (52:13):
Sure again, Why would we talk about the NFL when
I can create the visual of sweat developing on my
pasty white nether region and reminding all of you that,
because of my bike skills, I'm just better than you
Colts pacers, Who gives a damn? What listeners really want
are stories from my bike, my time in Colorado, and
other things that are totally not boring to people in Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (52:34):
Totally not.
Speaker 4 (52:35):
Now, if you will excuse me.
Speaker 10 (52:36):
As the boss, I'm about to mandate an all Spandex
dress code for James, Kevin and Mark.
Speaker 9 (52:42):
That's Ai jeff Rickord weighing in on. Oh, gentleman, waiting
all year for that. I lived up to it. It's
a shame he's not in studio to hear that.
Speaker 5 (52:52):
Yeah, we got to run that bell.
Speaker 9 (52:54):
I'm where to put the Spandex on, literally, Yeah, polishing
the shwin as we speak. Oh lord, boys, where we're
calling it these days?
Speaker 7 (53:01):
All right?
Speaker 9 (53:01):
So here's what we're gonna do. We've got so many
games I want to focus on that. I'm gonna give
you a play for Thursday night. I don't have props
tonight now game wise, like on the actual game pick,
I believe I'm nine and four on Thursday night. Prop
bets have been a disaster, so we're gonna focus on
the game tonight. And I like the Lions of minus
(53:23):
three here. I'm a by low sell high guy. You
guys know this. The look at headline before Thanksgiving was
about six points here. So you mean to tell me
because of a game on Thanksgiving with each one of
these teams that's going to drop a field goal down?
That seems like an awful lot to me. And are
we really to believe the Cowboys are going to sweep
(53:47):
at Philly, Kansas City and at Detroit on a short week,
That's a tall task. If I told you the seasons,
well the Cowboys sweep that, nobody's signing up for that.
And if you kind of break down the numbers here,
the Lions have been excellent following losses since November of
twenty two, going fourteen to no straight up and thirteen
(54:07):
and one against the spread. So I am in on
Detroit tonight. Cowboys are better, but we're treating these dudes
like they're the eighty five Bears. All of a sudden,
I'll take the Lions at home on a short week here,
and I'll lay the three.
Speaker 4 (54:20):
Okay, Okay, I think I can get behind that.
Speaker 1 (54:23):
All right, let's shift.
Speaker 4 (54:26):
Let's shift gears to Saturday night again. It opened up.
Ohio State is a five and a half point favorite.
This line has started to shrink a bit towards Kurt
Signetti and the Hoosiers. It is certainly one of the
more anticipated sporting events we've had in our city. What
do you like?
Speaker 9 (54:42):
In the last eight Big Ten Championship football games, the
favorite is eight and zero and six and two against
the spread. Boy, And since their last loss to Michigan
over a year ago, Ohio State fourteen one and one
against the spread. And they just haven't been beating up
on little sisters of the poor. That includes housing Tennessee,
(55:05):
housing Oregon, and rolling through the National Championship. Man, I
hate to say this because I like Indiana and I
think indiana.
Speaker 8 (55:13):
Might team is second best team in America.
Speaker 9 (55:15):
Hey, money's money, folks, I'm gonna lay the four and
a half with the buck.
Speaker 4 (55:20):
Guys.
Speaker 8 (55:20):
I hate myself for it.
Speaker 9 (55:22):
I know your audience probably hates me for this, but
here's the real reality.
Speaker 4 (55:26):
I've never heard anyone ever hate you.
Speaker 9 (55:28):
I would take Ohio State minus four and a half
against anybody in America, Bama, Georgia A and m Oregon,
whoever you got. I think Ohio State is the best
team in America. Indiana might be second. But the last
time you could get Ohio State at this low of
number I can't remember. It's a wild weekend where you
(55:50):
can get the buck guys at four and a half
and Bama catching points all at the same time. So man,
please don't hate me. I love Don Fisher. He's doing
work on Saturday. But I got the Buckeyes from my
money minus four and a half.
Speaker 3 (56:04):
It seems like a good time to remember that at
Jason Allen Hammer is where you can find it.
Speaker 9 (56:08):
Yes, all hate mail you can send to Tony Katz
Karen WC.
Speaker 5 (56:15):
So any other college games you're looking at Hammer? Or
should we look ahead to Colts Jaguars, which you know
is a huge matchup, not only from the standings, but
I would imagine from the betting standpoint as well.
Speaker 9 (56:25):
We're gonna circle the wagons by low Sell High. When
Vegas tells you something, you have to listen. Okay, Okay,
So everybody's down on the Colts right now. They might
not have a good kicker, there's injuries in the secondary. Fine,
they haven't won in Jacksonville since like the Reagan administration.
All right, fine, but look at this spread here. Colts
(56:47):
are still favorites in this game at Jacksonville. Vegas is
telling you something here. Jacksonville is not that good the Colts. Yes,
they struggle against elite defenses or good defenses even and
you look at the Pittsburgh game. I know Pittsburgh's defense
isn't great, but you commit six turnovers and it was
still a one possession game at the end. So the
(57:09):
Colts aren't as bad as people are making them out
to be. And we still don't know if Trevor Lawrence
is any good or not. So I'm telling you this
is a Bilo sell high. I'm gonna take the Colts.
I'm gonna lay the one and a half, and I
think they break that streak down to Jacksonville this weekend.
Vegas odds makers are begging everybody to hitch their wagon
(57:31):
on the Jags home divisional dogs. I get it, the
numbers are usually there, but I'm not sold on that
Jack's defense at all.
Speaker 8 (57:38):
I think the Colts put up some points.
Speaker 4 (57:39):
Okay, you walked in this studio and Mark Dyton turns
forty years old on Sunday, Jason Hammer, and you told
us you had a play in the Bears Hackers game
coming up on Sunday.
Speaker 5 (57:53):
Behind.
Speaker 4 (57:54):
Well, Mark Dyton be getting excited about this or not.
Speaker 8 (57:57):
So I'm gonna help Mark out a little bit.
Speaker 9 (57:59):
We had a big town hall meeting here at work
yesterday where we found out all of our benefits are
gonna be way more expensive.
Speaker 8 (58:05):
So here's how we're gonna pay for it. Mark.
Speaker 9 (58:07):
You're gonna take the family nest day, okay, And you're
gonna better on the.
Speaker 8 (58:11):
Green Bay Packers this weekend.
Speaker 9 (58:12):
Oh my gosh, minus six and a half green Bay
eleven and one straight up and ten and two against
the spread against the Bears in the Matt Lafloor era
And look, I would buy this time.
Speaker 5 (58:26):
Yeah, you turn that front upside down. Mark, you want
to make some money here.
Speaker 9 (58:29):
I could buy this up a couple points and I'd
still feel good about it.
Speaker 8 (58:33):
I'm in.
Speaker 9 (58:33):
This is my favorite play of the weekend. That Packer's
defense is legit. The Bears are just a couple plays
away in every game. And Mark knows this, huh from
having three wins compared to what they've gotten out nine.
So I'm telling you the better defense at home prime time.
Give me Green Bay all day. Get this wallet six
(58:54):
and a half. If it gets up to seven, you
get into push category, and that stinks. It's better than
a loss, but I'd rather have the six and a half.
I am in on the Packers, so I'm crapping on
everybody on this show here to make friends Packers. It's
time to make some cash this weekend. Kid's got Christmas
gifts to pay for.
Speaker 8 (59:12):
Let's go well.
Speaker 3 (59:12):
I've never wanted you to be more wrong. And I
was talking about getting blue pills in the parking lot.
Probably need some Vallium two or something after that.
Speaker 4 (59:18):
Play the AI jeff Rickord is the greatest thing I
have heard in years, So thank you for that. Jason
Hammer again degenerates next door of the podcast twice a
week him and Rob Kendall, and he's got you every afternoon.
Hammer Head here man Hammer and I sholds up the
IBC one more rundown on it. I'm simply relaying info here, Lions.
(59:38):
You said three or three and a half for tonight.
Speaker 8 (59:40):
I got three. I saw three at multiple books.
Speaker 4 (59:42):
Lions three Ohio State. He's taking the points. It's four
and a half. He likes the Colts, is a one
and a half point favorite, and he likes the Packers.
On Mark Dyke his birthday with a big.
Speaker 9 (59:53):
Line and James Landman season two doesn't really get going
till about episode three. Okay, so stomach through the first one,
but there is a lot of Ali larder, so that's
not the worst thing.
Speaker 5 (01:00:04):
Never too bad about that.
Speaker 8 (01:00:05):
That's Jason.
Speaker 4 (01:00:06):
What you say? Mark on the full Twitter Jason All
and Hammer that might have a few mentions coming his way.
There's a second game, Hammer, Money's money, Thank you sir,
you got it.
Speaker 8 (01:00:16):
Thank you guys.
Speaker 4 (01:00:17):
That's a great Jason Hammer right there again. You can
hear him every afternoon over on w I b C.
We'll do it one final time here fan morning joke
