Speaker 1 (00:00):
You were listening to the best of the Fan morning
show on ninety three five and one oh seven five
the Fan.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
There go, Mark, You're already ready to go right. Got
your microphone stand fixed today and everything. I gotta love
that myself.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
I had to take matters in my own hands. I
was rigging this thing myself.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Well didn't they come back and permanently fix it later?
Speaker 3 (00:22):
I know I did it. If you want me me,
I did it. I love me some meat.
Speaker 4 (00:29):
I think if you won with my top five Spotify
for the year non kid division, I think this song
would probably crack it. Really, that is a great song,
little little Shaboozy good news.
Speaker 5 (00:38):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Thank you, Mark Dyton, Thank you. I don't know why,
but thank you. I didn't write the song. I just
played it.
Speaker 6 (00:46):
You know what.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
I man never humble. That is what I've learned from
Mark Dyton.
Speaker 7 (00:53):
The fan text line is open to A two three, nine,
ten seventy. We were talking about that article, Mark, where
somebody remember what the publication was, because I think you
saw it too. Someone had said that Indianapolis had the
best roads in America.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
No, I saw it like secondhand on like barstool Indie
or something like that, and they were like, what in
the hell is this person talking about?
Speaker 8 (01:11):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (01:12):
Three one six said that Jeff I was in a
doctor's office. When I read that, I blurted out laughing.
Hell no, Brian says that, and he put his name
at the end there, Brian.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah, I've seen nothing but potholes and everything like that. No,
I mean, especially come wintertime. I mean, Indiana roads are
my worst enemy because I'm like, no one's plowed these things.
What's happening when the snow just falls and falls? You
can't see lanes. I'm like, what are we doing here?
But it's been like that ever since I moved here.
Speaker 7 (01:37):
It's it's more for me what happens once the snow
is gone and the craters that remain is the biggest problem.
Speaker 6 (01:45):
But no good.
Speaker 7 (01:46):
A minute ago, we were talking about a great conversation
had yesterday with the head coach of the Indianapolis or
the Indiana.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Pacers, Rick Carlisle, and stops my I caught myself.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Come on, that's it, she said, enough seventy percent of
the word.
Speaker 7 (02:00):
We've been talking about Indian OLiS cults all day and anyway,
Indiana Patris had become Rick Carlisle was was with the
guys yesterday and they had a great conversation, and of
course the conversation the conversation turned to the departure of
Miles Turner. I thought that Coach took the high road,
but also gave us a pretty pretty good answer about
how things went down.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
I was I was surprised. I was surprised, but it's
pretty clear what happened. You know, Milwaukee found a way
to come up with enough cap space in a very
short period of time. It's my guess that they did
all this. You know, they did it by waving Lillard
and stretching him and all that kind of stuff created
(02:40):
whatever it was, twenty some million extra in space. And
and I think what I think what happened was, you know,
they they talked to Miles of the Agent or Miles
the end of the Agent and said, look, we have
this offer. This is a number, you know, presumably a
number that you guys are trying to get to. We
(03:02):
need to know that if we offer this, you guys
are going to take it and you can't stop it,
you know. And that's that's a that's a frequent you know,
a tactic of negotiation and so pretty clearly they they
took they took the offer. It's they're right to do it. Well, certainly,
(03:22):
miss Miles. I know that there were a lot of
there was a lot of talk about, you know, some
of the some of the things that he said as
he left, But I just I just feel, look, we're
going to give Miles the benefit of the doubt on
all that stuff. The guy is the guy was a
was a pacer through and through for ten years. He
(03:46):
lived and breathed that. He disregarded trade rumors. You know
when they when they happened, he was all about. He
was all about in the end all the time. Sometimes
things in the business aspect of basketball become super dynamic
and nuclear and they happen on a you know, on
(04:09):
they turn on a dime. But you know, everything that
Kevin Pritchard said is absolutely true. This this this franchise.
Was was ready to go as far to the tax
as we needed to keep him. But you know, things
can change quickly. They did. He's moved on. It's a
(04:30):
division rival, so there's always gonna be plenty to talk
about there. But Kevin and Chad were able to acquire
Jay Huff, who's certainly not the experienced level mouse turner
is not the exact same kind of player, but he
can make threes, and he can protect and protect the rim,
and he can do some other things that are strengths
(04:52):
of his and so we feel like he's a piece
that can that can work for us. We don't know
exactly who's going to start at five, but I've had
seasons where I've had three centers and pretty much consistently
played three centers every game. It was I think it
was two thousand and thirteen fourteen with the Dallas Mavericks.
(05:14):
Sam Dallenbar was our starter, Dwan Blair and Brandon Wright
played back up, and there were way more games many
There were way more games than there weren't where all
three of those guys played. And so, you know, maybe
the center position is more of a Swiss army knife
(05:35):
type thing. We'll have to see. But we have we
have Huff, we have Isaiah Jackson, we have Wiseman. Tony
Bradley's going to be in camp. So there's four guys
that are going to be slugging it out for the
you know, presumably three center spots. So as we get
into it, we'll see what's what but you know, nothing
but love from from my perspective. From on Miles Turner.
(05:58):
I had a really nice, nice conversation with him after,
you know, after he made the decision to leave, and
what a lovable guy. So we'll miss him.
Speaker 7 (06:12):
I was a head coach of the Indiana Pacers with
Carlisle talking about the departure of Miles Turner and where
the team goes from here. It's gonna be a really
interesting first couple of weeks for the Pacers with a
brand new five spot being rotated in guys coming and
going obviously that new starting line with Tyres being out.
At this point in time, I still don't think that's
(06:33):
going to be a complete disaster. I'm a little more
bullish on the pace. I don't think they're going back
to the Eastern Conference finals, but I think they'll be
a really competitive basketball team.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
Kevin, you know we talked to earlier in the show. Okay,
schedule comes out today. What do you care about?
Speaker 3 (06:45):
If anything?
Speaker 4 (06:46):
And again the old coachra it's forty one home forty one,
Why just show me the schedule? Obviously from an entertainment standpoint,
what the reaction is going to be? Yes, the Miles
Turner return game will be one that I will certainly
be looking forward to. But I think it is vitally
important for this year's version of the Pacers to have
(07:07):
this schedule be as backloaded as possible with good teams.
And I say that for two reasons. One, we have
seen in the NBA, and we saw last year the
Pacers at times were one of those teams, not very often,
but at times late in the season February, March, particularly April,
you're going to rest guys if you are in a
(07:28):
good playoff sort of position. Cleveland last year the Pacers
played them twice in the last couple weeks of the season,
and Cleveland played nobody in those games. So I think
if you're the Pacers, and that is probably true of
every team, you want to have more of a backloaded schedule.
But I also think for this iteration of the Pacers,
where you are putting guys into very new rules, and yes,
(07:50):
center is one spot, but you're asking a whole lot
more of Andrew Nemhardt as an eighty two night point guard.
You're asking a whole lot more of Benedict Mathern to
now slide into the starting lineup. You're probably gonna need
more scoring punch from a guy like Aaron E. Smith
night in and night out, whatever that second unit is.
You know, we asked Rick about guys like Jars Walker
and he brought up Johnny Furfey as well. So there
(08:12):
could be some early season kind of growing pains all
of these guys into different roles, and I think they
could be a team that will be playing better basketball
come twenty twenty six. So for those two reasons, for me,
I think when you see the schedule come out today,
you want to see it as backloaded as possible, a
(08:33):
with quality opponents that maybe you catch on some rest.
And then b I think the Pacer team you see
late in this season will look a little different than
what you see here October November.
Speaker 9 (08:43):
To piggyback off of that, Kevin, I do think this
team is gonna struggle considerably to kind of figure out
who their identity and what their identity is without Tyry's Halliburton,
because he's a top fifteen player. I think sometimes, you know,
because of the fight we saw from this team and
the grit and it's nastity in the never say die attitude,
we overlook the fact that they still will be without
(09:06):
a top fifteen player, and so that's to me, is
a significant loss. And even when I hear Rick tell
us all other teams are inspired by us, or you
hear some of these shows talk about how the Pacers have,
you know, kind of giving you a new blueprint of
how to win. Do you have another Tyrese Haliburton somewhere?
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Does anybody?
Speaker 5 (09:24):
No?
Speaker 2 (09:24):
They do not.
Speaker 9 (09:25):
So I'm very curious to see how Andrew nim Harden
particular handles the bigger role that he'll have and the
way they respond because to me, and I'll see it
nice and early, I think the ceiling for this team
without Halliburton is to win perhaps one round in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
That's it.
Speaker 9 (09:40):
Like, I don't see them advancing past that. Feel free
to you know, clip this if you're listening as a
Pacers fan or a Pacers player. Perhaps he uses bulletin
board material. But I just can't see you losing the
top fifteen player and still going deep in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
That to me is just not gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
Can you imagine a Pacer player up at seven to
forty three in the morning listening to this.
Speaker 9 (09:57):
I'm just picturing like a shocked if TJ is that
ready to go job, I was gonna say, McConnell, like
you know, in the gym right now, sweating, he's like
all these games. But I do think they'll be a
very entertaining team and he's still a good team is
just that in certain spots when it comes to one,
running your offense first and foremost, and then two closing
(10:18):
games because we saw when Tyre's isn't in there the
close man, it can get a little clunky sometimes.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
No, I mean I was not in my head throughout that, James.
I think there will be multiple times this season that
I will probably come in here at seven am the
next morning after Pacer game and say, wow, we are
reminded of how great of a player Tyres Haliburton is.
And like, I think, statistically you can probably just look
at that on paper, but watching this team and the
(10:43):
flow offensively and the freedom and the just how well
he sets guys up. Not having that now defensively.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Maybe you're better.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
Maybe you're more of kind of a rugged team, Maybe
you're more of a throwback team. Maybe you're playing games
you know, a little bit more hub around one hundred
instead of the race for one hundred and twel one
hundred and thirty. We have seen a few games announced.
By the way, this seemingly has been a home game.
I feel like every year for the Pacers they will
have that Friday night of Thanksgiving week that will be
a home game that often is coupled with the old
tree lighting right here below us on the circle. So
(11:16):
that will be actually one of their in season group
play games, Commissioner's Cup against the Wizards. So that was
announced yesterday. So right now we know again Pacers Thunder
Thursday night, the twenty third of October, that will be
the opener, and then they did announce their group play
games and the rest.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Of the schedule will be announced later today.
Speaker 7 (11:37):
I'm looking forward to the race a little bit later on.
I suppose it'll come. I don't know a little bit
after the scrimmage for the Packers and Colts today. I
guess not some scrimmage but joint practice.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
I got no idea on the time. I don't know
what the time they do something on NBA TV. I
got nothing.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
I don't know. My attention probably early early after.
Speaker 7 (11:58):
We'll find out more about that and let you know
when that will happen, but we'll talk about it as
we go along.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Talking about the NBA too.
Speaker 7 (12:06):
I saw something that crossed the wires late last night
that we saw a sale. The Boston Celtics are going
to be sold. Did you see this, James? Do you
see the number involved? Six point one billion dollars? Six
point one billion dollars? When is the right time to
sell your franchise? They keep going up and value in value.
You just keep it, sit on it or you just
(12:28):
turned into cash one day. Six point one billion dollars.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Must be nice.
Speaker 9 (12:33):
I don't think I could buy anything for six dollars
right now, so six point whatever billion is crazy.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
I did see that.
Speaker 9 (12:39):
The NFL, according to will Sportico, put out their list
of along the lines of valuations Jeff evaluations for NFL franchises,
and the Colts are the twenty eighth most valuable franchise
at five point seven two billion.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
They dropped the spot from.
Speaker 9 (12:57):
Last year's rankings. The the Sinneti Bengals, by the way,
who are known as being cheap skates, are last in
these runkings. But also could you imagine being last in anything?
I mean worth five point five billion dollars? The NFL
is doing well, you all, and then the number one team,
obviously Dallas Cowboys works twelve point eight billion.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Why did caboose on that train every single day five
point five billion to be last year?
Speaker 5 (13:21):
Man?
Speaker 4 (13:21):
Why do you think we've gotten so much parody in
the NBA in the last few years?
Speaker 7 (13:27):
The new CBA, Yeah, because you can't just load up
a team with star after star after star after star
and keep it.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Mean, it goes back.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
The stat was seven different champions in the last seven years.
I was listening to Tim Bontemps Brian Windhorse from ESPN.
They were chatting about this. Not only have we had
seven different champions in the last seven years, but if
you look at the finals matchup the fourteen teams over
the last seven years, eleven of them have been different.
(13:55):
They also threw out a stat where the defending champ
has not made it. I think it's out of the
second round in six of the last seven years, So
you haven't even gotten like a two year run. I mean,
can you imagine if the thunderbout out that early this
coming year, like they are the odds on favorite heavily.
(14:15):
It's it's yeah, I mean, the new CBA but guys,
I mean, it was the new CBA in.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Tax seven years ago. Here's kind of wild, how far back.
Speaker 9 (14:23):
Here's a couple of answers I can give you, and
some of them not as serious as other as one.
Lebron got old no, because there was a I think
there was there was a there was a stretch there
where if he was.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
And then before that it was literally covid, I mean
Lebron played and so that's what it felt like.
Speaker 9 (14:36):
And then I do think the gap between great players
and very good players has kind of shrunk a bit
because there's so many talented guys in the league now, Like,
for example, you look at the Pacers roster, they don't
have a ton of great players. In my opinion, the
great ones are Halli, Burdon and Siakam and then the
rest of them are just very very good. But they
(14:57):
have a bunch of those guys, and so you not
seeing a lot of those top heavy teams anymore. And
it feels like the recipe to win if you aren't
you know, peak prime Lebron James or Kobe Bryant or
somebody like that, is to have a better supporting cast
around them. So maybe you have two stars and then
you have you know, your six through eight players are
much better, you know, than what they used to be
(15:19):
in the past. And also skill in shooting. I think
shooting changes a lot, Like every team can shoot now.
I go back and watch like the even I think
it's I think it not necessarily maybe not variants, but
what's the world I'm looking for. It creates more of
a competitive balance, like you're not able to blow teams
out like you used to. I mean, twenty point leaders
aren't what they used to be. And it's not just
the Pacers doing this. Teams come back now. And so
(15:41):
I think that adds to what we've seen as far
as a parody because you look at like the twenty
ten finals with the Boston Celticas and the Lakers, you
have like two or three guys on the court that
can't shoot at all. That does not happen anymore. Like
if you play the Pacers, especially this last version that
we had with healthy Halliburton, and there was a player
on and the other team that couldn't shoot, you were
going to get crushed because the Pacers are going to
(16:04):
make him have to do something on offense and they're
going to expose you on defense, and so it is
a much more tactical league and a much more skilled
league in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
You've thrown a.
Speaker 7 (16:12):
Couple of injuries here and there too. I remember a
couple of years ago Golden State was playing well, all
of a sudden, Steph had that ankle problem. And then
you see the Celtics last year, this past season, obviously
they were really hit hard by the injury bug. Maybe
that has something. So maybe it's just a combination of
a lot of things in the years.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
I mean, I just wonder if it's one of those.
Speaker 7 (16:30):
I think a lot of what he started with with
Lebron because during his coming kidd, every year, whoever team
Lebron was on, they're going to the finals.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Well, I think there was literally a run.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
I forget, you went to a straight twelve straight years
where it was either literally Kobe or Lebron in the finals.
So yeah, I mean we have gotten you know, hell,
if you want to go way back, you know, bird
Magic probably had that feel in the eighties. Obviously, Michael
speaks for itself, you know, Shack. So it's just interesting
because I don't think like I love the NFL, and
(17:01):
a huge reason why is I think it has great parody.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
It does, but right.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Now, you you might look at the NBA and say,
from a final standpoint, it's got more parody than Mahomes
and the Chiefs playing in the Super Bowl every year. Yeah,
I think one to thirty two. The NFL's got more
parody in it.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
And that's true.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
There's the old stat.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
Of, you know, four new playoff teams every year in
the NFL, et cetera, et cetera. But it's just kind
of wild that I think the NBA larger. Well, it's
the same teams every year. Are like, you know, I
you know who's going to be in the finals.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
It's like, well, that's not really true anymore.
Speaker 9 (17:35):
Yeah, Lebron's stuff got old because those guys are in
there every single year.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
It's, uh, it's crazy.
Speaker 7 (17:41):
I'll look at I'm trying to look up some odds
right now, early odds on who will win the NBA
Championship and just to make the NBA finals. Right now,
it's Oklahoma City at plus two thirty, It's Cleveland at
plus seven to fifty, the Knicks at plus eight hundred,
the Rockets at plus eight fifty, Nuggets at play us
eight fifty. So really, yeah, Oklahoma City's got the best
(18:04):
odds in the Western Conference or even in the Eastern
Conference of getting back to the finals. But that's a
lot of teams that.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
They kind of like massive.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
I mean the last time, I mean, say say the
first two.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Plus two to thirty and then plus seven to fifty.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
For those that don't pay attention to gambling, that is
an insane gap between one and two on that.
Speaker 9 (18:22):
That's what happened when you were three.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
People are kind of very young.
Speaker 7 (18:25):
But to bring it full circle, people are kind of
expecting this young version of stars with the Oklahoma City
Thunder to be arounded together for for a few years
now too.
Speaker 9 (18:33):
I do have a cold question that we can get
into after the break. It regards wide receivers, and I'm
curious and I need answers from all of you.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
Mark's got answers, don't you?
Speaker 5 (18:45):
Mark?
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Sure you answer to every question?
Speaker 5 (18:47):
Is what?
Speaker 6 (18:48):
Mark?
Speaker 4 (18:49):
That's right, by the way, Shout out to Kenny. It's
usually yeah, out to Kenny. We were talking a little
bit about fantasy football yesterday. We're gonna have a show
league here. We're gonna give it.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Did we officially give away one spot yesterday, Mark Ross,
he's in the hopper. Shout out to Ross. Kenny chimed in.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
We were talking about I got, you know, a little
poke fun at that. I said b W threes, you know,
instead of Buffalo Wild Wings, and we're talking about drafts.
Kenny said that a couple of years ago, he drank
twelve tall Miller lights at BW three's in an hour
and a half. What during his team's fantasy football draft?
(19:27):
He then went on to win the league.
Speaker 7 (19:28):
I thought he was going to draft like seventeen wide receivers.
Speaker 9 (19:31):
I was going to say, does he remember winning the league?
Does you remember drafting his team that night?
Speaker 4 (19:38):
I think I needed thirty for thirty on this Yet
all the Miller lights in ninety minutes, and then you're
going to win the league.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
What does that say about your eleven friends in the league?
Speaker 7 (19:47):
Are you sure he really had eleven friends By the
time he had his tenth beer.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Probably had thirty three, That's what I'm saying. And just
seeing Doubles dripple over there, your stomach pumped and he
won the league. That's a good night can out there?
Speaker 7 (20:00):
kJ from Brownsburg wants to know how many consecutor years
did Bill Russell get to the finals?
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Player and coach? That was a bunch.
Speaker 9 (20:07):
That's a good beast, good Scott, I mean yeah, A
lot of a lot of the time they brought Lebron
they would bring up that they hadn't been done. Basically
like since the modern era.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
The NBA has got parody. I like it seriously, especially
this year.
Speaker 7 (20:19):
I like it so all right, coming up in a month,
we'll talk more about the Colts and Packers later on
this afternoon schedule release day for the NBA, and more
about the Pacers there and some of your comments as
we continue next on ninety three five and one oh
seven schedule release day in the NBA, we'll find out
a little bit more about the Pacers and who's coming
to town win a little bit later on this afternoon.
(20:40):
Fever back in action tomorrow night against the Washington Mystics,
and a man who covers it all joins us now
on the Payless Liquors Hotline. That would be Scott Agnes.
You can find his stuff over at the Fieldhouse Files.
Good friend of the station and the program. Here, Good
Thursday morning, Scott. You got lots going on right now.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
Hello Jeff.
Speaker 8 (20:57):
Yeah, absolutely and that's really kind of been the case
all some along. It really hasn't been any letup whatsoever.
Speaker 9 (21:04):
So Scott, I will start with the question, and I'm
sure you have been peppered with over and over and
over again, and I will just add to this, what
is the latest on Caitlyn Clark and will she return
and play this season?
Speaker 8 (21:17):
Yeah, so there's remains no timeline and there never has
been one. That's the one thing I want to stress there.
She remains out indefinitely, and I think it was wise
for them purposely not to put a timeline on there,
given all all the various elements, but the number one
thing being the fact that she has never dealt with
(21:38):
any injuries throughout her career. So she remains out and
definitely she's with the team every single day, has not
yet ramped up to doing stuff with the team and
with you know, multiple players and all kinds of things
like that. And yes, I do expect for her to
return for the season, but I think it'll be at
(21:58):
least a couple more weeks.
Speaker 9 (22:00):
So one quick follow up to that. So basically what
you're saying is they don't want a situation where it
was a TJ. Warren and it was it went from
what weeks to months to wait a second, he'sn't playing
again this year. So I think that was wise on
their part. I would agree there, but yeah, you made
me think of the TJ. Warren Rick Carlisle common from
a couple of years ago and that lord knows how
many times you played that over the year.
Speaker 8 (22:21):
And that's why to me, James, it was so important
for them not to say, hey, she's day to day
or let's we'll see tomorrow or anything like that. The
biggest thing you'll see you've seen the teams here in
the last few years Pacers included, is if they don't
have to or if they can stay away from the timeline,
mostly because if there's a setback or if you know,
players not feeling right, well, if they don't hit that timeline, then.
Speaker 6 (22:45):
Everybody worries or whatever.
Speaker 8 (22:46):
It's like, we don't know everything that's going on behind
the scenes or why. And so I think it's it's
it's more so not to rush Kaylin, but also from
the fan perspective or everything. But I would be donned
if she does not return. And let's use another pace
of analogy. How many times have we seen them a
player want to come back for at least a few
(23:08):
games to finish the season. I think if TJ. McConnell,
he had hand injury, came back to play in a
couple games before the offseason, I think about Paul George's
compound leg fracture came back, I think played six games.
Speaker 6 (23:23):
Before the offseason the season was over.
Speaker 8 (23:25):
I think it would be so healthy mentally for her
to get that because then otherwise, James, she's not playing
from mid July to like May, and that's not healthy either.
If she can get to the point where she's comfortable,
and I think she will.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
So, Scott, based off what you're kind of laying out there,
I mean, she'd maybe is going to play in a
couple of rego season games until the playoffs, and I
stress maybe on that.
Speaker 6 (23:51):
No, I think it'd be a slightly more than that.
Speaker 8 (23:53):
I think it'd be I think, just guessing here, I
think you'd be looking at a final I don't know,
week and a half, couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
Because we're less than a month until the regular season ends.
Speaker 8 (24:06):
Right, I'm saying a couple at least a couple more weeks.
So that's that's halfway, so you got two weeks of
the regular season ideally, and then you have the playoffs.
So yeah, it's not a lot of time. You're absolutely right,
but it's more than a game or two anything.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Scott aginsfield House files with us here and I know
we don't want to go Caitlin Clark for the entire segment,
but anything stays she said with Sue Bird, and that
kind of stood out to you. I enjoyed that podcast.
We obviously haven't heard from her in a media setting
in a while. I thought she had some candid comments
about her first injury and initially thinking, hey, I'm just tight,
I'm just sore. I got to play through this. I
don't want to be soft, et cetera, et cetera. Anything
(24:42):
stand out to you from her appearance on Sue Birds pod.
Speaker 8 (24:46):
Yeah, that was really good. It's it's great when the
legend like like a Sue Bird is able to get
her to open up. They had a different conversation here
in town during All Star weekend. Yeah, I thought there
was a number of things I think reiterating I think
it was important to fans is how much she knows
(25:06):
she means to fans and how much she might think
about the pressure to be out there and to miss time,
and that's something to some degree as well. She mentioned
last year she was like, look, I realize all these
fans are selling out hundreds of dollars and we're selling
out arenas and all that. So I think for her
being just a twenty three year old, I think just
how she continues to be so self aware about her
(25:28):
presence and what it can do. And in the fact
the line she hadn't said it, but you could feel
it and see it.
Speaker 6 (25:35):
The point maybe that she.
Speaker 8 (25:37):
Said, look, I'm going to every game, I'm going to
sign autographs. I'm going to make a point to do
all that. Like I'm not sure every player would. I
think they'd stay back or avoid that, sit in the
locker room until game time. So no, that was a
good wine ranging conversation. You're right.
Speaker 7 (25:53):
Scott Agnes joining us now on the Payless Lookers Hotline.
He covers the Fever and the Pacers over the field
House Files eighteen and fifteen. Now, for this team, they've
struggled a little bit. I think lost three of their
last four.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Is it turnovers? Is it not point guard play?
Speaker 7 (26:11):
What's going on with this team right now and just
can they survive until Caitlin Clark gets back.
Speaker 5 (26:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (26:17):
To me, the number one thing is defense, and that's
it's mainly because two they've talked about how much that
leads to their offensive end, and so if they're playing
in the half court, if it allows for the defense
to get set, then there's still been a little bit
disorganized on the offensive end. But to me, it's defensively
not standing in front of their man and then fouling
(26:39):
all those fouls piling up and players out of place.
That's to me where they got to figure it out
and come together on that front. And they're still figuring
out some I think with lineups and rotations you have
all these or not. You got several new players right
with Odyssey Simms and still Chloe Bibbie as well Chicago.
(26:59):
I don't think the Chicago win was a great representation
just of how bad that team is, and the Fever
have had their number all season long. I think the
Fever probably in the middle of what we saw against
Chicago versus also what we saw against the Wings, because
that Wings game, much of that game was a future performance.
They just were not showing up well at either end
(27:21):
of the floor, and obviously the point guards thing is
an issue and then will remain that for the rest
of the season as players are going to have to
sacrifice and play out a position, but it's got to
improve defensively.
Speaker 7 (27:34):
Just curious schedule or las coming for the NBA today,
including the Pacers.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
What do we know right now? What are you looking
forward to? Say?
Speaker 8 (27:41):
We know five games so far. We know opening night
home opener, season opener will be that October twenty third
against Okay. See, I'm calling it game ten, Jeff, because
yet obviously Game seven they played in the summer League.
We know they're going to meet in the preseason, and
then by this time I think we'll wrap up all
the story and put a boat on this past season
(28:03):
and then you know the for dates for a group
play for the NBA Cup. But there's so many different
things we're all paying attention to. Right is any more
holiday games, which does not obviously seem to be the case.
Those are the ones they've announced. You're looking forward to
national TV games? We already know they have two. They
had nine last year, I think three of the year
before that, and then it's just looking at key matchups
(28:27):
reunion dates. You know, wins the first Milwaukee game, right
that might be the number one game many people are
looking forward to. But we'll know all that by this afternoon.
Speaker 9 (28:37):
I need to know when the Bucks are coming to town.
And also I will again bet the over on the
amount of booze that Miles trying to receives, because that's
just how fans are. But one question I do have, Scott,
in regards to the schedule for the Pacers, do you
think they'll receive nine or more National TV games or
(28:59):
less because of the how Burton injury?
Speaker 6 (29:01):
I am taking the under.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
What about you?
Speaker 9 (29:04):
I think I'll took the under as well. But I
just don't know, like how much respect did did they
earn from last year? And how much of the businesses
just cut throat. It's like, well, you lost your star
and you know, there goes your National TV games.
Speaker 8 (29:15):
That's got to be what it is. Not only did
you lose Haliburt and you lost Turner, we don't know
what to make of you right now. Therefore, you know,
I was actually kind of surprised they already have two
that are right now. I feel like the number probably
and I think this is one of the biggest things
fans pay attention to. I'd probably said it right at
like four and a half.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Okay, that's fair.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
That's fair, Scott.
Speaker 4 (29:37):
Last one for me, I do think like and you
can say this pretty much every NBA team, like a
backloaded schedule in today's NBA where teams are resting guys,
especially late in seasons, I think is really beneficial. You know,
last year, for example, the Cleveland games, we saw that
late in the regular season, they barely played anybody against
the Pacers. I also think it's extra beneficial to this
year's Pacer team because you know, Nemharden and new role,
(30:00):
mathering in a new role. You know, pretty much everybody
is in some sort of new role or asked to
do different things. I think it'd be highly beneficial if
you know, a Western trip is late in the year
and you know, again some of these more marquee opponents
falls in the March April window, because I do think
the Pacers will be a different team come you know,
(30:20):
Spring twenty twenty at the start of the year. Am
I making too much of that?
Speaker 8 (30:27):
I think you are a little bit because of the
continuity of their roster. Otherwise, like this isn't like take
the Fever for example, they only had five or turning
players from last year. This this Cacer team, you're you're
changing the starting lineup and you have to figure it
out at the center position. But upside of that a
ton of continuity. And if anything, I would argue for
(30:48):
that early road trip out west earlier on because that
allows for them to have that more time together, is
what I lean on.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
I like those road.
Speaker 8 (30:57):
Trips early on in the season in November because it
forces you to be with each other seven to ten days.
Now again, I think it's different because this group's continuity.
But I think the biggest thing, more than anything I'd
stress is you hope not to have those awful back
to backs or the four games and seven days and
that type of thing, much more so than kind of
(31:20):
that front loaded schedule.
Speaker 7 (31:22):
I was good to talk to you, Scott. Enjoy the
day and we will talk to you soon. And happy
schedule release day.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
I guess absolutely appreciate it. Guys.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
Good Thursday morning to you.
Speaker 7 (31:33):
The Cults and Packers have a joint scrimmage later on
this afternoon up at Grand Park. JMB is going to
be live on the scene there from three to six,
and of course we'll tell you how everything works out.
In the meantime, we're waiting for the NBA schedule release
that's supposed to come out later on today as well.
Though we've learned a few dates already.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
We'll get to that.
Speaker 7 (31:48):
We'll check in on the fan text line at two three, nine,
ten seventy a little bit later on in the hour, but.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
Right now our eyes sometimes too, because there might be
some question momential.
Speaker 7 (31:57):
Yeah, nobody else can see it though, Well what I
meant for Jeff so Oliver myz, Jeff, you do as
you please?
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Did get a spicy one this morning? Didn't we? Yeah,
they know we don't.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Don't drag me as a Christie.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
Let me be getting mad at me? This is you,
my goodness.
Speaker 7 (32:14):
Let's check the payless Lookers hotline right now. My good
friend Doug Russell does the pregame show for the Packers
up there on. Remind me which I know. It's a
couple of stations you work for. Which one is the
pregame show on the.
Speaker 6 (32:27):
Pregame shows on the state wide network.
Speaker 8 (32:29):
So it's on in Milwaukee on ninety seven to three
of the game on in Green Bay on WNFL radio,
Madison's WTSO radio, So.
Speaker 6 (32:38):
Yeah, it's on a few places.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
I like that though. It's good to talk to you again, Doug.
Speaker 7 (32:41):
And we've got joint practices with the Packers today, but
no Jordan Love and a bunch of injuries piling up
for the Packers.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
What can Colts.
Speaker 7 (32:49):
Fans who are going up there today expect to see.
Speaker 8 (32:52):
I think that you're going to see a competitive team
that Yeah, they've got a couple of injuries. Jordan Love's
not going to be there, obviously, had the you're done
on his thumb earlier in the week.
Speaker 6 (33:03):
Listen.
Speaker 8 (33:03):
I would rather you got to see Jordan Love than
not got to see Jordan Love. But you know that's
the danger were playing in the preseason, I suppose. But yeah,
there's a few guys that are a little bit banged up.
But you know, Jaden Reed is in a walking boot,
so you're not going to be able to see him.
Romeo Dobbs is a little bit banged up. Christian Watson
tore his ACL last year. He's an exciting player that
you're not going to see.
Speaker 6 (33:24):
Nate Hobbs their new right cornerback.
Speaker 8 (33:26):
They're trying to make up for the loss of jay
R Alexander, who didn't really play all that much last well,
the last couple of seasons. He's now in Baltimore after
they released him. They tried to trade him the entire offseason,
weren't able to. But Nate Hobbs they signed him from
the Las Vegas Raiders and he comes in, he bangs
up his knee, so he's not going to be available.
Quait Walker is not going to be there. So yeah,
(33:48):
there's Zavier McKinney. He was first team outro last year.
He's not going to be there. So you are going
to see guys like Evan Williams. You are going to
see guys like Keishahn Nixon, Drian Cooper who had in
a marvelous rookie season.
Speaker 6 (33:59):
You're gonna be able to him. I think it's a
good Packers team, but yeah, they're dealing with some injuries
right now.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
Doug, where would you consider I guess healthy strengths Obviously
you just laid out wide out and a little bit
in the secondary bang dub Jordan love of course, but
like healthy strengths areware for evaluation wise for the Colts today.
Speaker 8 (34:18):
I think, well, Josh Jacobs is healthy, so he's one
of the elite running backs in the National Football League.
They got both of their second and I guess third
running backs. They're not quite sure what the depth chart
is going to look like, whether or it's going to
be Emmanuel Wilson or marshall On Lloyd behind Josh Jacobs,
but both of those guys returned.
Speaker 6 (34:34):
They love Chris Brooks.
Speaker 8 (34:35):
He's going to be back, so their offensive backfield aside
from Jordan Love, so the running backs, that's a healthy
position for them. Matthew Golden is their first round draft
choice side of the University of Texas. He has caught
everything thrown his way at practice so far this summer.
Some of the best hands I've ever seen. And he's
(34:56):
a rookie. He's got speed to burn, a little bit undersized.
If you watched him Texas, you know exactly what I'm
talking about, but.
Speaker 6 (35:03):
Just amazing hands.
Speaker 8 (35:04):
I think they've got great tight ends and Tucker Craft
and Luke Musgrave, speaking of help, those guys are finally
healthy on the same field at the same time. They
were drafted in back to back grounds in the second
round and in the third round two years ago, and
it's been a struggle to keep both of those guys
on the field at.
Speaker 6 (35:19):
The same time.
Speaker 8 (35:21):
The offensive line is a little bit banged up, but
it's not too bad. You know, at left guard you've
got Aaron Banks, he's a newcomer. Sean Ryan at right guard,
so the interior's goods that com just signed a long
term contract and he's going to be on the field today.
He's maybe one of the most underrated right tackles. Attackers
(35:41):
don't have him underrated, but one of the most underrated
right tackles in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (35:46):
So yeah, I mean there's some guys that you can evaluate. Absolutely.
Speaker 8 (35:49):
There are some injuries, there's no question about it, but
there are some places where you can have some good evaluation.
Speaker 9 (35:54):
Doug, we know that Metla floor was not pleased after
the preseason opener. So from I guess the hackers angle,
what things would they like to I guess executor show
despite the injuries against the calls later.
Speaker 6 (36:05):
Today, Uh, they'd like to do everything better than they
did against the Jets.
Speaker 8 (36:10):
I mean, that was just that was a thorough drubbing
that took place at Lambeau Field. It was sloppy, a
lot of penalties, a lot of drops, a lot of
pre snap stuff that just can't happen, a lot of
holding penalties. Yeah, everything that you saw in that film,
they'd like to do better. I mean every every, literally
(36:32):
every aspect a kicking game is okay. Randy mcmannus made
a field goal, didn't miss one.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
Yeah, that's all I got with soap after asking you
this question.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
That was tough.
Speaker 6 (36:45):
It was terrible. They were, honestly they and Mattleflora said
I'm not listen. You know, I'm not breaking any news here.
Speaker 8 (36:51):
That's the first thing that Matt Laflor said at his
postgame press conference. He's like, if you're gonna do this here,
you get your a kick. And he was right, if
you're gonna play like this, you're going to get your
kicked and they got their kicked.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
One following sound effect.
Speaker 9 (37:08):
When it comes to the quarterback, obviously leak Willis will
get I would imagine the reps today at quarterback. And
I remember last year in Week two he did enough
to obviously get the Packers to a win. So from
that aspect, what do you hope to see from him?
And I guess how can the Colts count of challenge him?
Because I think that he Is. You know, if it
comes down to it, he could be a key to
(37:29):
the season if you know, Jordan Love misses a game
or two.
Speaker 8 (37:32):
Oh, Malik Willis saved their season a year ago, and
a lot of that had to do again, you know,
with the game against you guys in Week two. Jordan Love,
you guys know, wasn't able to play. I had the
knee injury that was suffered at the end of the
Week one game against the Eagles in South Polo, and
Malik Willis, who had been in Green Bay for exactly
nineteen days, took a modified playbook and mastered it. And
(37:57):
I thought it was Matt Lafleur's best game.
Speaker 6 (38:00):
Thought it was a game.
Speaker 8 (38:01):
That Milik Willis really showed why the Packers were unhappy
with either Michael Pratt or Shan Clifford, their backup quarterbacks
who were vying for that number two spot. They cut
him both at the end of training camp and then
went out and traded for Malik Willis, figuring that, well,
he'll have time to at least perhaps digest the playbook
(38:22):
before he's needed to be before.
Speaker 6 (38:24):
They need to deploy him.
Speaker 8 (38:25):
No, not really, less than the three weeks later he's
in there starting a game he started against you guys,
against Indianapolis. Of course at lambeau Field won that game.
A week later, Jordan lust still unavailable, went to his
old place the team and played against the team that
he came Packers were able to win that game as well.
Week eight, Jordan got hurt again. Milik Willis came in
(38:46):
in Jacksonville a game that probably was a little bit
closer than it should have been, and the Packers were
able to win that game, and Milik Willis played well there.
So those three wins that Malik Willis you can put
on his resume. The Packers would have made the playoffs
without those three wins. Malik will Us is one of
those guys that if you don't need there's an old thing.
Speaker 6 (39:05):
You don't need a backup quarterback until you need a
backup quarterback.
Speaker 8 (39:08):
And the Packers are very fortunate that they have a
very good backup quarterback in Malik Willis. So he's clearly
the number two. But you're also going to see Sean
Clifford and Taylor el Elgers month. You know, those two
guys are vying for I guess it would be the third,
the third quarterback, but it's going to be a practice
squad position. But that's the real competition right now. It's
(39:31):
between Clifford and the kid from Canada, Elgers Month.
Speaker 4 (39:35):
Doug russells with this here you hear him on agreemade
Packers radio preview in today's joint practice three to five
today up in Westfield, Final day for the Colts at
Grand Park. Doug a couple of years ago, training camp
for the Colts often look like where's Jonathan Taylor and
does he have his hood up or is his hood down?
(39:55):
As the contract negotiations played out, I led to Jim
er Say showing up and his bus at one point
Jonathan Taylor going on the bus. Eventually, after about four
weeks of the season, Taylor got a new contract. But
the hot rumor back then was the Green Bay Packers
really had serious interest in Taylor. What do you recall
if anything about that.
Speaker 8 (40:15):
Well, I think a lot of that was smoked because
Jonathan Taylor, of course went to the University of Wisconsin.
Speaker 6 (40:21):
He's a fan favorite.
Speaker 8 (40:22):
If you're a Packers fan, you're probably a Badger span
It seemed that there was a natural fit there. They
could have used maybe a little bit more depth at
the position at the time. I think that that's what
they thought that they were going to get with AJ Dillon,
to be kind of that.
Speaker 6 (40:36):
Second guy alongside Aaron Jones. Never really panned out.
Speaker 8 (40:40):
AJ Dillons now with Philadelphia Egels, great great young man,
but just was never that that you feature back that
the Packers were looking for, and that's why they went
out and they got Josh Dickobs, you know, last season
or before last season. So yeah, I recall that there
was some talk about it, but I think that that was.
Speaker 6 (40:59):
More maybe some Packers wish casting than anything else. But uh, yeah, I.
Speaker 8 (41:04):
Remember it vaguely, I'll put it that way because I
don't think there was anything.
Speaker 6 (41:07):
I don't really think there was that much to it
in Green Bay.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
I was good to talk to you, buddy, Thanks so much.
Speaker 6 (41:12):
Thanks for having me.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
All right, Uh have fun.
Speaker 7 (41:14):
You're gonna be You're gonna be up in the studio
for this preseason game though, right You're not coming.
Speaker 2 (41:18):
Down I will be, yes, unfortunately.
Speaker 6 (41:20):
But it was going to see you at the combine.
Speaker 5 (41:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
I always good to talk to you, man. We'll talk
to you.
Speaker 6 (41:24):
Soon, all right.
Speaker 7 (41:25):
Thanks jar everybody over here with the heads bobbing up
and down, head banging over here.
Speaker 3 (41:29):
Mark, let's go bug, this is Kevin's favorite Papa road aggressive,
let's go and actually, but Kevin, you likes to think that,
oh we need this.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
At about two fifty nine to day, I know these teams
are getting together.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
Right after my motivational speech, we'll play role. I would
honestly love to see that.
Speaker 9 (41:50):
Mark would probably st down there and tell you men,
let's talk about hate and how much we need to
conquer the day again.
Speaker 3 (41:56):
Shout out to good Jimmy. He suggests it suggested that
Mark get a little pa system run here with this
packer sounder, not only today in Westfield, but I believe Saturday.
Inside of looking like.
Speaker 9 (42:08):
Mark would in his like statement, by like taking a
cheese and like just punting it.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
I do a lot worse than that. I'd be dropping trow.
Speaker 7 (42:14):
I think maybe I was gonna say, maybe think of
those guys over there. I was gonna say, maybe Mark
can bang the andvil. But now I'm reconsidering I would
I would.
Speaker 3 (42:25):
Count the only ones making fertilizer.
Speaker 7 (42:29):
Or the pretzels. No, that's the case. Maybe all right, Mark,
it's your time to shine once again. You're at ninety
through five and one seven fan.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
He's got questions? How about a game?
Speaker 6 (42:39):
They have got answers. I'm more of a you know,
corn hole man myself.
Speaker 1 (42:44):
Sports music, movies, what high fashion.
Speaker 2 (42:48):
Be, hands als so hot right now.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
And everything in between. With four two, it's time to
get a glimpse into the mind.
Speaker 6 (42:57):
Of Mark Dyke.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
Didn't stop that.
Speaker 1 (42:59):
You're scaring huge time for I gotta know, Okay, I.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
Wrote a good, clean fight. Let's get it off, all right, boys,
Let's start it off real simple here. True or false?
By this time next week, the Colts will announced their
Week one starting quarterback.
Speaker 5 (43:20):
True.
Speaker 9 (43:22):
They will announce the starting quarterback sometime next week after
this week's preseason game, and we will know going into
the last preseason game in Cincinnati who the starting quarterback is.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
True.
Speaker 7 (43:36):
I'm not convinced that they don't already know. I just
don't feel like Daniel Jones has done enough, and I
know you guys have said he's had some solid days
up there. I just can't imagine them taking that starting
spot away from Anthony Richardson right at the beginning now
if he loses it over the course of one or
two games, because of his play. I get that, but man,
(43:56):
they are they seem to be tied to him, despite
what they say publicly. Deep down, I feel like they're
tied to Anthony richards So.
Speaker 4 (44:03):
You don't believe the opposite of if you start Anthony Richardson,
as soon as you bench him, then the season's over
and that's bad.
Speaker 7 (44:10):
Pr I think if he gets bench now or after
a couple of games in the season, it's the end
of him here one way or the other.
Speaker 3 (44:16):
You can't go back to him. If you start Daniel
Jones and he's bad, you might.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Have to if it gets hurt. But man, I don't.
It's just start a great question mark.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
I'll give a very soft true.
Speaker 4 (44:29):
I don't see Shane super married to wanting to carry
this out through the Cincinnati game. Now again, today's the
last day we watched the Colt in a full practice
setting through the rest of the year. After today, all
will watch his you know, twenty thirty minutes. So I mean,
I guess to Shane feel the need to publicly say that,
I don't.
Speaker 3 (44:49):
Shane doesn't strike as a guy that would go out
of his way for that either. So yeah, a very
soft true. Okay, broach this topic with you guys yesterday,
but I thought it was a good on air topic
to bring up. What would determine a successful season for
Anthony Richardson in your mind? Now this doesn't have to
be purely statistical. It could be, but just what is
(45:11):
success for Anthony Richardson in twenty twenty five in your mind?
Play at least fourteen games.
Speaker 9 (45:17):
That way, you at least can successfully evaluate if you
want to keep him around, because the conversation to the
first two years is, well, he's been hurt. Eh.
Speaker 2 (45:27):
If he hadn't got.
Speaker 9 (45:28):
Hurt, eh, what if he was healthy, Well, play fourteen
games or more. If you don't, there's your answer, he's
not your guy.
Speaker 4 (45:34):
Yeah, I think that is the obvious one availability. But
he also has got to show you something as a
quarterback because when you say successful mark to me, that
means you're picking up his fifth year option. If you're
picking up his fifth year option, that is a huge
financial increase. That means he's got to show you more
than just simply claim quarterback Like yeah, I mean, that's
obviously a huge part of it, but he also has
(45:57):
got to show you that the arrow is back pointing
up on his individual play. So what's that More accuracy,
more methodical passing game, last turnovers, just a little bit
more weak to week consistency than we've seen.
Speaker 7 (46:13):
The ability to stay healthy and move the change. And
I'm going to go one step further. I think this
entire team it's a referendum on the general manager, the
head coach, the quarterback. Not only he needs to stay healthy,
They've got to find a way to make the playoffs fair.
Speaker 2 (46:28):
And that's it. To me, it's all or nothing for
them in this entire group.
Speaker 9 (46:32):
They missed the playoffs. Yeah, probably everyone is on a
very very hot seat.
Speaker 4 (46:37):
I mean, what if Richardson looks great and the defense
looks like lou An Rumo's defense to Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (46:43):
I still feel like you can make that You can
make that decision that your eyes will tell you that, Okay, well,
he's actually showing the strides that we need to be
seeing from him. The defense, that's obviously disappointing. But if
you're seeing Anthony Richardson show like exponential growth, then I
feel like you feel really good heading into the next
year plus with him.
Speaker 7 (47:03):
Does that by Shane Steichen another year and you say,
you know the Colt's front office says, hey, we've seen
him develop this young quarterback.
Speaker 2 (47:12):
He's good.
Speaker 5 (47:12):
Boy.
Speaker 4 (47:13):
I can't let my mind go there just yet. I
mean that, just that general thought confuses the hell out
of me, because, yeah, if Richardson Richardson has a great
quarterback year for him, your defense is one of the
worst in the league. First year defensive coordinator or whatever whatever,
growing pains.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
Every part of you is like, oh yeah, you fire.
Speaker 4 (47:35):
Ballad and psych him. So now Richardson is with the
new offense.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
Which can't be good for him.
Speaker 6 (47:41):
No.
Speaker 2 (47:41):
At that point, to.
Speaker 4 (47:42):
Me, this is why it makes the season. If you
don't laugh, then you're gonna cry.
Speaker 2 (47:48):
That's why it's a great question.
Speaker 3 (47:49):
Yeah minus minus Can he show? Can he show a
ten percent improvement on completion percent?
Speaker 2 (47:54):
Boy? Mark?
Speaker 3 (47:55):
That's okay, big Listen, in a half I'd be on
the front cover of Playgirl. He was at forty seven
percent last year forty seven percent, so a ten percent
increases fifty seven. That's still below the league average. He's
still not great.
Speaker 2 (48:12):
I get, but that's a big step. Okay.
Speaker 3 (48:14):
You also, does he want to get a fifty year
contract option picked up? Does he want to bid contract
that I like to stop playing like a think you're
persuading me, well, would Baker Mayfield have seventy one percent?
A different stratusphere? Yeah, we're talk about a Heisman winner ten.
Speaker 4 (48:29):
But again you don't to Mark's point, you don't need
Baker Mayfield no, like with his big playability, assuming that
is still there. I don't think the deep balls has
effected what usually is. You could live around upper fifties
turnovers can't be there though.
Speaker 3 (48:45):
Right, all right, let's switch the topic. What is your
biggest fear? Oh Lord, for me, it's just get on
the couch. I don't like snakes. I don't like I
pet a snake before, but like you bring an anaconda
or like a water moccasin. Er, no, thank you, hard
pass on. I think I am a little like Indiana
Jones in that regard. I don't like snakes. That's where
they that's where the similarities end usually, But.
Speaker 4 (49:07):
Snakes actually aren't too bad for me. It's definitely heights.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
So are you and are you a nervous flyer then?
Speaker 2 (49:15):
Or no?
Speaker 4 (49:15):
Shockingly I'm not, I'm not, but any sort of like
you know, ledge building. I remember we were in Niagara Falls.
Like just kind of looking over and I'm like, yeah,
Luckily I'm six', THREE i can see down there from back.
HERE i don't need to walk too too. Close so,
(49:37):
yeah it's definitely. Heights but, Yeah, mark flying has never
been an issue for, me even like super bad.
Speaker 3 (49:43):
Turbulence it's not like the end of the world for.
Speaker 5 (49:45):
Me.
Speaker 7 (49:45):
There i'm gonna agree With. KEVIN i am one hundred
percent both not comfortable being way up. High but flights
don't bother me at. All AND i don't know there's
probably some study psychology study on, that But i'm.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
Right there with. YOU i don't like being near, ledges
way up up out of.
Speaker 9 (50:03):
Stuff Well i'll tell you why flying doesn't scare me
is because If i'm up there and something goes, wrong.
Speaker 2 (50:08):
Well it's the, landing not the. Flying, HEY i don't have.
Speaker 9 (50:11):
Many, options But i'll probably say mine is, water like
big bodies of. Water i'm just, like, man WHENEVER i
see like a natural disaster or something like, That i'm, like,
wow that is water is scary to. Me there's a
lot that we don't know about the, ocean and SO
i tend to try to keep you, know close to
land or you, know stay away from areas WHERE i. Land,
YEAH i don't THINK i would ever do a cruise
(50:33):
WHERE i can't see actual land in front of. Me
i'm not saying water anyth's wrong with like going to
the beach or something like. That but IF i can't
see any, land no count me.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
Out oh, yeah like Open water that. Movie, no, seriously jawscuard.
Man on a, Cruise i'm not.
Speaker 9 (50:48):
SURE i haven't been on a boat long enough to
know If i'll get seasick a. Cruise but a, cruise,
yeah that does not excite. Me or, NO i don't
want to.
Speaker 7 (50:56):
Go i've always felt that. Way BUT i did go
with the family on A disney cruise several years. Ago in,
fact right BEFORE covid we. Got the last day that
we came into port was when they shut everything, down
when they started shutting all the tournaments down and everything like.
Speaker 2 (51:10):
