Speaker 1 (00:00):
You were listening to the Best of the Fan morning
show on ninety three five and one oh seven five
the Fan.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Saturday at one o'clock, the final preseason game for the
Indianapolis Colts still be taking on the Cincinnati Bengals, and
it'll pretty much be, I think Kevin Bowen a junior
varsity matchup between the two teams, will itnot?
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Yeah, see Riley Leonard, Jason Bean quarterback wise, Cincinnati had
played their starters. They kind of went a different direction
than they usually go obviously last year to not go
well for the Bengals. They played their starters a lot
in the first two preseason games. So, ex, Colt James,
what is your favorite memory of Desmond Ritters time with
the Colts.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
I forgot that he was briefly on the roster. I
do not have one. He's got through up there. I
mean a couple of passes in a practice.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
And I don't even know if he threw a couple passes.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
Well, individual Jeraldes I'll give me.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
It was a three day mini camp tryout. The former
Cincinnati Bearcat back with the Cincinnati Bengals. So yeah, it
will be one of those games and and you know
it is the last chance for anybody to impress. I
don't know if it's too late in the process to
go there, but Rick Venturias often pinned this sort of
game as the employment Bowl, and that's probably a good
(01:13):
way to put it. It's a little dub for coming
up on Saturday afternoon.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Are you guys a little surprised that there's no Anthony
Richardson on the schedule given the fact that he's you know,
Daniel Jones is your guy, and assuming he stays healthy,
he's going to be the guy. Would you not want
to get some more reps for Anthony Richardson before the
season gets underway.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Yes, and no, I kind of understand why.
Speaker 5 (01:36):
I guess in theory they are not playing him because
that will require you also to probably play your second
stringers as well, and if you don't want to get
those guys dinged up, And keep in mind, outside of
the quarterback position, a lot of the second stringers will
play and be big contributors for you on game day.
You don't want to get those guys dinged up or
banged up, especially as you're finally starting to get healthy
a bit.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
So I understand it. In theory.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
But I will still follow up with Shane Stikeen or
one of us later today because I just want to
hear what he has to say about that, considering that
you're saying he needs to sit and learn, but at
the same time, here's an opportunity from to go out
there and learn on the field. And I've told you
all I hate mental reps. I don't believe that they're
really effective. I mean, you can mentally do whatever you
want to until you actually play the game. So I'm
(02:19):
very curious hear what he has to say.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah, it makes no sense to me.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
I don't get out of it.
Speaker 3 (02:22):
He should be playing Saturday afternoon.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
I get if it's like beyond the twos, if he's
with the threes or fours or whatever.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
He needs he needs around Jersey to stay in the locker.
He needs to be exposed to live game settings. I
don't care who's around him, who's not. Defenses are lining up,
and you feel like he needs to be better in
that area, in line of scrimmage stuff and checks and
audibles and cadences and you know all of those things.
(02:49):
Hey timing up motions correctly, Like that's where he needs
to get better, and when he's running the scout team
offense and practice with the red jersey on, it's nowhere
near the same. So I definitely hear where you're coming from, James,
But yeah, I don't understand what the culture doing.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
I agree one hundred percent, Kevin. Here's one for you
is the fan text line is open this morning two, three, nine,
ten seventy. Chris Ballard checking in this morning. Guys, what
do you put the over under on for starts for
Anthony Richardson this year? He's thinking three.
Speaker 5 (03:20):
Yeah, I have to interact with the real Chris Balor,
so I'll let you give your opinion on that.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Welcome to Radio, James, Yeah, No, I mean welcome to Dan.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
The back of Jones' baseball card would say about three, right,
Daniel Jones is probably missed, yeah, right around that many
games annually in his career. So yeah, if you were
setting an Anthony Richardson games over under, I don't know,
Vegas would probably set it at like two and a half.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
I believe of his first six seasons, he's only finished
one of them without being injured or benched, so there
should be some room in theory.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Franthon rich is into play again.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
You see he is better than Anthony any Richardson or
he's just more consistent consistent.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
I don't think he's better.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
Yeah, consistency has not led to a lot of success
for him outside of that one season when they went
to the playoffs with the Giants, when I think they
went with like nine six and one or nine seven
and one, and Okay, I just don't see how you
can tell me a guy who's twenty games under five hundred,
who's had eighty five total touchdowns versus seventy three total
(04:29):
turnovers in his first seventy games of his career, is
this much better than the young guy you drafted? Now,
if you believe that you should go and play with.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
Them, is what it is.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
We will find out what happens throughout the year. I
will go over two and a half, but under three
and a half, so I think three. That's what I
would predict three starts for Andthrey Richardson this year. Three
and a half feels a little too too high for me.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
Mark, you grunted over there.
Speaker 6 (04:56):
That was a very cop out answer. I feel like
I told you what I thought it was gonna be.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
What do you want now? I'm just I do wonder
this though.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
I mean, I mean Kevin said it three and a half,
which is the correct setting in my mind.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
If Richardson does play through games like Jeff for dis.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
My question, then would be okay.
Speaker 5 (05:17):
If he gets in for a game and he performs
fairly well, what does that mean?
Speaker 7 (05:22):
Right?
Speaker 5 (05:23):
You know what I mean? Like you put him in,
you win a game, and then you go right back
to Daniel Jones. That'll be an interesting transition. So we'll
just to wait and see. Brace yourself, you know for sure?
Speaker 6 (05:34):
What if he yeah, like, what if the offense is
doing okay with Daniel Jones but he gets nicked up
high An goes out andthrew Richardson comes out, and all
of a sudden the offense is boom thirty eight points
in a game or something like that.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Like whoa did you not hear Shane Stikeen commit to
Daniel Jones for the entire twenty twenty five years.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
And talked to commit to Joe Flacco last year and
that didn't last very long.
Speaker 5 (05:55):
Yeah, I mean he made that statement twice in a
matter of a month with andthew Richards's are guy, and
we believe in him, he's our quarterback of the future
and for the season, and then that ended.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
And then with Joe Flacco, he's our quarterback, he's our
guy for the season.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
And then that ended and they went back to Anthony
Ritson all the Wait a second, Now he's a quarterback
of the future.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
So yeah, I will say.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
I believe that as much as I believe in my
six pack.
Speaker 5 (06:17):
Yeah, I do think that there are instances throughout Shane's
tenure where now there's enough evidence to kind of push
back on some of the things he said and say, wait,
wait a second, should we believe you next me there, I'm.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
Just going to find it again. Yeah, you're right. Uh, Mark,
you've got questions this morning. Hopefully we've got uh stuff
that'll that'll scratch that itch for you.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
What do you have for us?
Speaker 2 (06:39):
He's got questions?
Speaker 4 (06:41):
How about a game?
Speaker 3 (06:42):
They have got answers. They I'm more of a you know,
a corn hoole man myself.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Sports music, movies, what high fashions.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
That hansl so hot right now and everything in between.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
You've seen a foot with four twos.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
It's time to get a glimpse into the mind of Mark.
Like didn't stop it you scaring me huge time for
I gotta know.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Okay, you poke, I wrote a good, clean fight. Let's
get it off.
Speaker 6 (07:10):
Well, we're on the Anthony Richardson and Colts conversation, so
let's let's keep it here with this one. Will Anthony
Richardson be with the Colts at the end of this season?
Speaker 3 (07:22):
I'll say yes.
Speaker 6 (07:24):
And how confident are you in that answer?
Speaker 2 (07:27):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
I want to ten and scale six point eight. I
just want to there's a lot of merit to Richardson
demanding a trade and or the Colts necessarily going down
that path in season. Don't you get better as a
quarterback when you don't play right around the league? Is
now what happened Daniel Jones? Andy Jones didn't play and
(07:49):
now all of a sudden he's better.
Speaker 6 (07:50):
My thought for the question was if a quarterback gets
injured around the league and a team is searching, But.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Why would seemingly can't learn or playbook in three You
know how.
Speaker 6 (08:02):
Coaches work in the NFL. I can fix him. He
can do well in my system. I can get the
best out.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Yeah, but again, the trade deadline is the end of October,
so you know later in the year. He obviously can't
move him. He's still under team control for next year.
You know, he's still under contract no matter what for
twenty twenty six. So I will opt for half of
the season.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
But goe free.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Though disagree.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
I think Chris Ballard is gonna be stubborn and he's
gonna try to hang on to Anthony Richardson because I
don't think Daniel Jones is gonna blow the socks off
anyone this year. I also to the trade deadline point
is going to be around. Plus what are you gonna
get for him at this point in time? Who's really
gonna give up like a fifth and a sixth or
a sixth and a seventh for Anthony Richardson at this
(08:43):
point in time.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Probably get a really good hands sandwich right now.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
For I think he's the cults to try and still
worry about and develop and if they really mean that night.
One thing we know about Chris Ballard, he's stubborn. But
that might be a bigger question is is Chris Ballard's
still around at the end of the year if it
doesn't go well with Daniel Jones.
Speaker 6 (09:01):
Yeah, So the question is will he be here at
the end of the season. Yes, will he stick through
the entire regular see?
Speaker 4 (09:07):
He will?
Speaker 5 (09:07):
And I think, to Kevin's point from yesterday, your best
opportunity to perhaps show that you can still play in
the NFL, be your starting caliber quarterback is to remain
in the system that you have kind of grown up
in throughout the years. And knowing Daniel Jones's injury history,
he isn't the most durable guy either. You might get
a chance to show your stuff again later this year.
(09:28):
The question then becomes Mark, is he here after the season,
And that to me is a much more different answer
and possibly has more outcomes there because if he wants out,
I would not blame him necessarily.
Speaker 6 (09:42):
More likely the Colts make the playoffs or get a
top five pick.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Make the playoffs. Ooh yeah, that's a no brainer. Form Yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
Would say make the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (09:54):
And I say this because not necessarily I'm like sold
on what the Colts are doing. I just think that
they've kind of been right there marked the last couple
of years in a division that still isn't, you know,
filled with juggernauts. I know Houston has kind of owned
it the last couple of years, but they're not like
some invincible team to me and the Colts think internally,
if we just get average QB play, with their improved defense,
(10:17):
and with the talent we have on offense outside of quarterback,
we should be Okay.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yeah, there's no way they're going top five. I don't
think this is going to be a disaster of a season.
There's too much talent all around the place. I think
they are better defensively. They've got a lot of talent
on offense, and you know, if Daniel Jones can just
dink and dunk this team to move in the sticks
and score on some points, I still think they're gonna
win eight or nine football games. I don't think they
can win a playoff game, but I don't think it's
going to be a disaster and have a top five pick.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
All Right, Kevin was elbow deep in a porter potty
earlier this week to fetch sunglasses out at Sausage Fest.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
I think risk deep is probably more of the accurate.
Speaker 6 (10:50):
All right, Kevin was shoulder deep in a porter potty.
My question to you guys.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Is pulling himself back up out of it at that.
Speaker 6 (10:57):
Let's say it's not sunglasses, but if you hadn't money
on you, and he dropped money in the porter potty?
What denomination does it have to be for you to
go in and get it.
Speaker 5 (11:08):
I don't leave money behind, So if I drop any bill,
I'm going it's changed.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
You's got to go out and do the nickel pitch
after he gets out of the porter dollar.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
No, I just but I don't even drop money. But
I would.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
I would probably have to say it was like five dollars.
I'm going to get it.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Five bucks. There you go?
Speaker 3 (11:31):
How about that? That might be more ridiculous than what
I did.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
Yeah, you wouldn't.
Speaker 6 (11:37):
I told you I would go get my glasses. I
just wouldn't tell anybody. Very few people who sided with Yeah,
those people are liars, like you're not leaving your glasses. Well,
you also didn't preface that their prescription that they had
the little the flippers or whatever. You should have said that.
Jeff and Kevin, where are you going? Kevin's doing it.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
For I still think.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Reach in and get my dollarn money.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Too hard to make a dollar change. You can keep
that because I don't use it.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
But a dollar, yeah, I'm gonna get it.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
Be at least a five for me, at least a
five yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
I mean the thing about it is, guys, if you
want to paint a little bit more vivid imagery here.
You know how soggy that dollar? That five instantly all
of a sudden it will be for very long, but
ain't green at all. When you're pulling that thing back
out of there, are you drying it off? What do
you do?
Speaker 7 (12:25):
You know?
Speaker 3 (12:26):
We should a little plastic sunglasses a little different than
the old soggy feace written dollar bill.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
You gotta do like the money laundering thing, and you
put it in the dryer and like let it roll around.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
Yeah, they gotta they got some some some water around now.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
I keep a bottle in the cars, just running off.
It's funny you bring that up market.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
They start start watching Ozark a couple of days ago.
There you go, uh, yeah, we should do an experiment
where we throw like a five dollar bill in one
of those and just.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
See how long it takes before somebody.
Speaker 6 (12:54):
Actually, I will let you do that with your own money.
I'm not throwing fives down the toilet, all right. Four
order Man was tired of being considered short throughout his life,
and he went to Turkey and got limb lengthening surgery
where they broke both of his legs and extended his
height three whole inches. My question you guys, is, if
(13:14):
you could add three inches to any part of your.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
Life, what would it be? Any part of my? What? Life?
Speaker 6 (13:19):
I don't want to say body like I would. I
would three inches to my I'll add three inches to
my vertical. I'll be spud web, I'll be dunking on fools.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Yeah, vertical would be nice if.
Speaker 6 (13:29):
You want to add it anywhere else, Kevin, you you
can go right ahead.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
And now, I don't think three inches is gonna do
a lot honestly for me. I don't think it will
help me out too much. Chris chiming in here he
goes little sister drunken AYU football tailgate back in twenty fifteen,
drops cell phone into the porter potty right next to
fraternity row boy clawed out. The phone was broken, Yeah,
(13:52):
broke it.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
Because it was wet. Probably stuff leaks.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Into the old sim card, got some things on it.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
Just that's tough, Chris empathy, What I mercy for clarification?
My sister drunk clauded out, not me. Well take one
for the team, I guess in her regard.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
I like the vertical mark. Again, three inches isn't gonna
help me in.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
Time take height. At that point, I'm five'. Ten IF
i was over six, feet that'd be.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
Cool But i'll take three inches From, kevin make him
an even, six and Then i'm.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
Gonna say anywhere. ELSE i Think i'm all.
Speaker 6 (14:29):
Right oh, Okay, james all right, There, jeff where are
you adding three?
Speaker 2 (14:34):
INCHES i take three inches onto my bank statement with
all the incoming money on that side of the, ledger
that's What i'd, take extra couple of inches on right?
Speaker 6 (14:44):
There all, right, last but at, least what are we?

to seventy and still, again what's going on?

Back answer the?
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Phone, Yeah i'm curious to see who's calling you from
that seventy?
Speaker 4 (17:31):
Number are you afraid.
Speaker 6 (17:33):
That the phone call is coming from inside the? House
is what is? Happening?
Speaker 4 (17:36):
Right this is gonna be LIKE i know what you?
Speaker 3 (17:38):
See is this going to make for excellent? RADIO i don't.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
KNOW i don't.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Know, HELLO.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
I hope it's not.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
There that's.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Inappropriate mark's had a dump. Fun we're.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Good, NO i got nobody, there nothing.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
There this Is Marx. Berner have you ever had that happen?
Speaker 3 (17:55):
Before, yeah someone usually calls me From jake's number WHENEVER
i Whenever jake's on.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Air, interesting somebody at the phone company messing with?
Speaker 3 (18:05):
YOU i, Think, YEAH i. DON'T i don't know if
it's the phone company or if it's you, know some
listener that ENJOYS i don't.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
Know franks interesting that they can get that to show
up as any number that they, want, THOUGH i gotta
find that.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Program james one handed grab At Joloanie woods yesterday at.
Practice is he making this?
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Team, NO i don't think. SO i think he's had
a couple of.
Speaker 5 (18:28):
Moments AND i did get a chance to talk to
him in the locker room about that catch in the
preseason game Against Green, bay and he was.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
Like it was a catch and obviously the player.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
Involved you're gonna say, that AND i honestly probably agree with,
him BUT i think it's a little bit too late
for him to kind of make some of these. PLAYS
i think that the other four tight, ends those Being Tyler,
Warn Motley, Cox Will mallory And Drew, ogletree have it
more consistent throughout training. Camp So i'll give my four
tight end spots to those.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Guys, BOY i do feel bad For Joelanny woods because you,
know after that, Play, james it looked like he was
maybe a hair. Gimpy BUT i think he stayed in
practice AND i was reminded and correct If i'm. WRONG
i don't think he's missed a. Practice, No he's been
out there and. THAT i, MEAN i believe the last two,
YEARS i, mean it hasn't played these, stories so he's been.
HEALTHY i think he's Been he's definitely had some highlight,
(19:18):
plays but he plays a position right now THAT i
just think the first four tight ends are pretty. Clear, so,
uh he could be one that you see a lot out.
THAT i know some people thought him A Will. MALLORY
i think It's, mallory but we'll see how much he
plays On.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Saturday do you expect that he'll be around on a
practice squad or?
Speaker 4 (19:36):
YEAH i mean he got.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Seventeen spots in your practice. Squad that's obviously a big,
number SO i could easily see him being back here
in that. Capacity but fifty three man, ROSTER i think
It's Tyler. WARREN i think it's Some Moile, COX i
think It's True, ogletree AND i think It's Will.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Mallory, well it's gonna be interesting to see how they
apportion all the spots on. Offense but you do think
four tight ends.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
Though, Right, yeah IT'S i think four tight ends and
A i, mean The Ashton dulan injury isn't anything of.
NOTE i think it's six wideouts that are pretty. Clear
so you, know running BACK i get into Like, james
we get into waiver claims next. Week to, me pass
catching running back is still a question. MARK i Trust
Jonathan taylor to catch the football as much as you
trust me to go into the porter potty and stay.
Cleaned and SO i don't know.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
What Jay gens is. On a little bit com out
of the. Backfield give them that.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
You want a rookie in there on third down for seventeen,
games there might be their option on. Right so that's
What i'm. Saying it's, like, okay you, know could that be?
Waiverclaim you, know is there something that you look at offensive?
Tackle and then you? Know linebacker and? SAFETY i, think
but When i've done the fifty three man roster cut
down so, far linebacker and, SAFETY i really find it. Difficult,
(20:44):
Honestly linebacker probably more than. Safety The Hunter woler injuries
probably made it pretty. Obvious a, safety you Keep Rodney,
thomas you Keep Daniel scott as your, backups and you move.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
On all, right we'll talk more about how they're going
to parse out positions to the final roster in a few,
minutes but also whopped up the phone lines the first
time this. Morning coming up in a, moment we'll talk To, Scott,
Dave quintin And. Moore two, three, nine ten. Seventy we
Got Scott agnes on the way coming up at eight.
Thirty Jake seay to talk fantasy football from The athletic
at nine. Thirty bronson Reed Mark dyton coming in at
(21:13):
nine forty five at least on the. Phone can we
fit him through the?
Speaker 4 (21:17):
Doorway if he comes, in you'd have to come in.
Sideways i'm pretty sure how he's a large. Fellow all,
right we'll do it.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
All as we continue on ninety three five and one
to seven, five the fan pencils. Down James boyd has
turned in his assignment To Kevin. Bowen before the, break
if you're just joining, US kb Challenged james to name
ten active, golfers and we had full confidence that he
would be able to do.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
SO i did not have he.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Is he has written those names. Down he has passed
it back to Golf Nerd Kevin.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Bowen now, spelling how can we Do if it's, Spelling
i'm already out.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Well shout up To Cherit tree. Elementary it got me
thinking back in the day when we did these mad.
Minutes you get sixty seconds to do all these stress,
man and when they set pencils up or pens up
or what it was probably pencils back. Then, Okay so,
YES i Asked, james could he name TEN Pj tour? Players, JAMES,
i BOY i sound like a. Teacher i'm not, Mad
(22:08):
i'm just. Disappointed, yeah YOU i was so much more.
OPTIMISTIC i don't know why you.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
Were it took me fifteen you get the ten baseball
players Golf.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
We have eight names on the list, here, okay and
these are the eight Names James boyd is gone with
OF Pj tour. Golfers One, Scotti, Scheffler, mark can we
get A. Mark you might want to stick around with
that button there You number two on the, List Phil,
(22:36):
Mickelson nicholson live, Golfer Phil. Micholson number, Three rory. McElroy
SEE i got THE i got the big. One number Four.
Bryson now you want to talk about Lens arch enemy.
Too you want to, say don't let a guy get.
Hot Five Jordan spieth, Okay Six Justin Thomas, okay, yeah and,
(23:02):
folks a blast from the, past the man that used
to hit more golf balls than anyone out. There The
FIJIAN vj sing number? Seven, wow where'd you pull that?
Speaker 2 (23:11):
One he still comes.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
RIGHT i feel like he's been around for, forever kind
of know he has to he'll play the occasional.
Speaker 3 (23:17):
Tour, james your handwriting lacked a little bit here on number?
Eight AM i reading this?
Speaker 4 (23:22):
Right did you say Tiger?
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Hood?
Speaker 5 (23:23):
Yeah Tiger hood you never heard of he was a, Legend.
Markousehold so we have six of, eight. Correct, hey it's
still passing. Great, honestly it would have better if you
named ten, golfers AND i probably still couldn't have got,
it BUT i knew at least the main, ones which
Is scotti And.
Speaker 6 (23:40):
RORY Jj singer is worth a bonus? Point is it
not the hast one on the top of the, Page,
James thank you for playing.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
Along oh, yes.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
There there you.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
Go This this is basically exactly what happened when it
came to, baseball And, mark you'll appreciate. THIS i THINK
i mentioned Ben zorberis BEFORE i got.
Speaker 6 (23:56):
To The Garon joe Around, world serious, Hero.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Jay SAYING i love.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
It we'll check pick in on that a little bit later.
On in the, meantime we go to The Payless liquors
hotline right, now where the one and Only Scott agnes
From Fieldhouse files stops by to join us on This thursday. Morning,
scott how many how MANY Pga tour current? Golfers could
you name?
Speaker 4 (24:19):
It?
Speaker 7 (24:21):
Guy probably a good.
Speaker 5 (24:24):
Dozen, Okay i'll phone a friend next time BECAUSE i
was struggling WHEN i got to maybe.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Six Darrin scott is. Tough, scott you were all over
the story. Yesterday you were the one that broke. It
we have Another Caitlyn clark, injury albeit it doesn't sound
like the most, severe but working out In phoenix a
couple of weeks. Ago could you share what you broke
yesterday in regards To Caitlin clark's health.
Speaker 8 (24:47):
Status, yeah it's a situation where she's just going through
her progression to. Return was going through a workout there and, Uh,
phoenix and what an awful day that ended up, becoming
starting with that and then having later in the day
within the game the season ending injuries To Sydney, coltson
Then arry McDonald two other point, guards and she just
(25:08):
kind of tweaked that left foot ankle, area and so
that's been something that's bothered her and that she has
now been dealing with for the last couple of, weeks
and and kind of helps explain a little bit more
to this story and and also has just yet another
latest example of How Curse This fever season continues to.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Feel, SCOTT i wanted to play in this for audience as,
well BUT i wanted to play the very Short Stephanie
white update On Kaitlyn clark from yesterday's pre practice because to,
me it's sounded more. Ominous we're two and a half
weeks left in the regular. Season she didn't practice. Yesterday
it doesn't sound like she's going to practice. Today but
this Was Stephanie white's update yesterday when asked About Kaitlin.
Speaker 9 (25:50):
Clark, NO i mean until she can get into practice
and until you guys see her in, practice is really
we're really status, quo the same as same as we have.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Been, scott AM i reading too? Much is this not sounding?
Speaker 4 (26:00):
Good?
Speaker 8 (26:02):
Uh, NO i THINK i don't think that's necessarily the.
Speaker 7 (26:06):
CASE i DON'T.
Speaker 8 (26:06):
KB i think that's more we're still talking about this
type of, thing which is which is. Natural it is
to feel these questions and you can't some things you can,
say some things you can't and so, Hey i'll provide
an update when there is. One this certainly is an,
update uh with this this. Injury but, NO i a
lot of PEOPLE i don't know. Why maybe it's just the,
(26:28):
frustration but caybe a lot of people have jumped to
this conclusion here just with nine games left and this.
Speaker 7 (26:36):
Latest thing, Up she's. Done we're never going to see?
Speaker 8 (26:38):
Her are you? Kidding do you know how Competitive caitlin?
Speaker 7 (26:41):
Is, like, no she is fighting.
Speaker 8 (26:44):
Like heck to get back as soon as possible within.
Speaker 7 (26:49):
Reason, Obviously, YEAH.
Speaker 4 (26:50):
I would not rule anything out.
Speaker 8 (26:53):
HERE i think the, hope AS i put in my,
story is that she rejoins practice next, week BUT i
don't know that.
Speaker 7 (27:00):
Yet that is the, HOPE i, Think, yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
It just seems like time is ticking a. Bit if
she rejoins next, WEEK i guess what does that give
her one week left in the regular. Season it all
depends on.
Speaker 8 (27:11):
What they what she and the team feels she. Needs
like when we mentioned practice, TIME i, mean obviously we're
not saying five days a week of practice or and
maybe she could get in how much you, know can
she get in with the coaches and the practice, guys you,
know in different. Sessions we see The pacers utilize that.
Too what what CLASSIFIES i guess as a practice, Right
(27:34):
So i'm leaning more On, yes she'll need some practice,
time but more than, anything the medical staff will house
would obviously have to clear, her and Then caitlyn would
have to be comfortable with her body and the way
in which she's moving out. There but, yeah there's not
significant practice, time but there's enough to make it possible for, Sure.
Speaker 5 (27:51):
Scott obviously beyond Just Caitlyn, clark the big injury news
for this team was the loss Of Sophie cunningham for
the season due to a right the injury from a morale,
standpoint how do you think this team will? Recover and
then from a play, standpoint how big of a loss is?
That considering that is their third ball handler that has
been lost for the.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Season, yeah this is, significant.
Speaker 8 (28:15):
Right and the THING i was asking even, about because
it goes beyond the, court is she's their vocal leader out.
There she's the one that almost won't shut up to
a fault that she even shares. Like she is constantly, talking,
communicating making sure players are in the right, spot making
sure if there's a misunderstanding that they get it corrected
right away for that next. Play SO i think this
(28:37):
is yet another significant. Injury and now right now you're
down four of your ball primary ball. Handlers LIKE i
have seen a lot in, Sports i've Sawd pacers deal
with a lot of injuries in the, season as did.
You i'm not Sure i've seen anything like, this to
the same, position to the hit after hit after, hit
and so, yeah to your point With, sophie she just
(28:59):
impacts the team in so many. Ways AND i thought
it was telling on her podcast how she talked about
HOW i found my joy in the love for basketball
again and WHILE i liked my previous, situation this one
was perfect for. Me it was like those Are we
talked to her a lot throughout the. Season that's the
first time that she has mentioned all of.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
That Scott agnes joining us on The Payless Liquors hotline
covers The fever and that you can hear The fever
play the links tomorrow night seven point.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
Thirty here on The, Fan.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
Stephanie white talks about this team's resiliency and they keep coming,
back and they keep getting off the, floor and despite
injury after injury after, injury they're hanging in there right.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
Now Kelsey mitchell has been.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Terrific they've hit on almost every person they've had to
bring in on a seven day emergency contract so. Far
what is the ceiling though for this team that just
will not go? Away, YEAH i think.
Speaker 8 (29:50):
So right, now you're just fighting to stay in the playoff.
Hunt BUT i think, THIS i absolutely think this team
could win a series in the.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Playoffs.
Speaker 8 (29:58):
Now is there a championship window closed.
Speaker 7 (30:01):
Because of all these? INJURIES i think?
Speaker 8 (30:02):
Absolutely, Right, LIKE i think that goes without question. Here
BUT i think this is a team that is feisty
and is stayed at, it and they got a big
score In Kelsey, mitchell Another All star and A Leah
boston still. Playing it's if they can figure out enough
to stay afloat as they have right. Now but to
What kevin was saying, Earlier, yeah time is of the.
Essence three, weeks nine, games including three against the best
(30:25):
team in the, league WHICH i think is kind of bizarre,
here including the next two, games but we don't know
the status of the best player right now in the
league of THE mvp and a piece Of, collier and
so that could significantly impact things. Here BUT i think
probably the best Thing Jeff wee seen come out of
this fever season is after that first, month it's the.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
Unity it's that.
Speaker 8 (30:46):
Togetherness it's how they're willing to fight for each other
and supporting one. Another AND i think those bonds will
go well beyond this.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Season, scott if you don't, MIND i kind of shift
gears a little bit. More Pay Rick. Carlile we saw
multi year extension signed earlier this, week and you, know
feel free to take in whatever direction you want when
you saw that. NEWS i think what stands out to me,
is by all, accounts it seems like their coaching staff
is once again going to be back. Together and like
when you see this progression of you, know incremental improvements
(31:19):
year and year, out exceeding, expectations, TYPICALLY i would think
some of those front bench people don't stick together and
they get whatever bumps or they go to other situations
around the, league and yet that core is still going
to be. TOGETHER i feel like that's kind of rare
across really any professional. Sports.
Speaker 7 (31:38):
Yeah, no that's the good.
Speaker 8 (31:39):
Point with the continuity that they've, had it's now become
where this, team along with the coaching, staff have grown
up together and been their side by side from those
moments to now the high moments where there's great, expectation
AND i Think pacer fans are already ready for this
upcoming season given the way what they experienced at the
end of last WHICH i think was just so magical
(32:01):
and so it was cool to see so much joy
in the city at that. Point but to your point
with all, that, YEAH i, Mean Lloyd pierce's former head,
coach And i'm sure he wants to be a head coach.
Again will he get that, Opportunity and so for him
to be that lead assistant has been integral to what they're.
Doing and the other, THING i think the reason for,
it probably in large, part is because of How Rick
(32:25):
carlisle empowers. Them like you See Jenny boossa up commanding
leading the. Defense certainly in those different moments you See
Mike winer maybe into game situations or running the offense
and diagramming here's the clipboard. DIAGRAM i think that's something
in SPORTS kb That i've seen evolve a great deal
THAT i think head, coaches and this is just in,
(32:47):
general are so much more, comfortable it seems, like in
their role in assigning responsibility and empowering. Others Stephanie white
here locally see that as well with her assistant coaches in.
Huddles and SO i think when you feel a part of,
it when you're really doing, something you're not looking to,
leave you're having, fun you like this, group and SO
(33:07):
i think that that goes a long.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
WAY i was going to talk To, scott thanks for
time this, morning and we'll have a know your golfer showdown.
Speaker 4 (33:15):
Between you And james. Soon sounds good to me WHEN i.
Speaker 6 (33:19):
Study just be ready to, Lose scott does be ready
to lose brother tiger.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
Hood there you.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Go, Huh good morning and welcome into A thursday edition
Of The Fan Morning show coming. Up by the end
of the, segment we will have another entrint into Our
Fan Morning. Show Fantasy Football. League say that five times,
Fast James.
Speaker 5 (33:39):
BOYD i, can't but someone who can is joining us
here in a moment on as.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
A matter of, fact right now on The Payloss slickers.
Hotline your Buddy Jay seely from The Athletic Covers Fantasy
Football eely and he is here with us, Now. Jaco
it is that time of, year drafts happening all day
every day. Everywhere how you keep. Up, oh we might
have to reconnect where.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
It sounds like my fantasy football. History, honestly there's no
worst fantasy football player in the world over.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
Here all, right we got you. Back it's better. Now but,
yeah it's that time of.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Year how many how many like mock drafts to day
do you think you take part?
Speaker 9 (34:20):
In, well it depends if you're talking about regular drafts
or slow draft because every single day THAT i can't
stop checking it and talking about but. Redrafts FORTUNATELY i
only have like three left before the end of the,
season But i'm still doing slow draft every single. DAY
i Think i'm in six or seven right.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Now is It Jamar chase's world and we're all just
living in it right? Now or what's what's going on
at the top of the drafts these?
Speaker 9 (34:44):
Days you, know the argument is Is Jamar chase's? World
BUT i think there's also an argument that if you
really want to still take a running, back you could
say it's B, John's barkley's Or Gibbs world's a lot
of be's in. THERE i know a lot of people
are worried About barkley coming off the four hundred plus.
Touches when you talk about off, Season BUT i mean
we've won Watching Derrick henry and these special freaks of
nature at running back be able to handle a kind of.
(35:06):
Workload and, also let's be, real you guys know, This
it's not Like barkley was hit that hard half the
plays he was out. There SO i don't think it's
the same four hundred touches that we try to slam
on every running. Back but the safest pick by, far,
yes would Be Damark chase And Jamar chase's world at number.
Speaker 5 (35:20):
One, So, jake thanks for joining us this morning to
hit you. Up, YES i was looking through some of
the things that you've, posted AND i know you had
in some of your rankings as far as like you,
know wide receivers to look at our running, backs to
look at running. Backs you Had John tailor in top.
Ten for tight, ends you Had Tyler warren number. Seventeen
And i'm curious has any of that changed for you
(35:40):
because of the quarterback decision here In, Indianapolis now that
you know it's gonna Be Daniel, jones who should fantasy
people be looking at in this market to, Say, okay
maybe this guy might have a better chance to produce
giving this Quarterback.
Speaker 9 (35:53):
Anthey you're interesting when they have to turn back to
him sitting, There Jonson, TAYLOR i really didn't Move Tyler,
warton Did Tyler? WARREN i moved all the way up
to eleven at this. Point going back To Daniel jones
with The, giants the one thing we know about him
that he can do well is hit that short to intermediate.
Game my biggest concern With Anthy richardson and his big play,
(36:14):
ability as you guys very much, know is we'd see
a lot more out perce Maybe Aidie mitchell as he
was coming, on and not so much. Underneath BUT i
think that's a big change in the offense of what
you'll See Daniel jones. Do, So, Yes warren's worthy of
a flyer as a fringe tight end one for. Me
and THEN i Boosted Josh dowens a little bit similar
to his ability to play, around especially in the. SLOT
(36:34):
i know That warren he will kind of manipulate the
same area a, lot BUT i think downs can see
the beneficiary Of, jones AND i actually think it does
hurt up.
Speaker 7 (36:43):
Here, yes.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Lost him again at the phone. Line idn't like wherever
he's sitting right. Now we'll try to get him back
in just a moment. Here but it is interesting With
Daniel jones being the. Quarterback how much do you believe
in all the receiver at this point in? Time my
volume and high, time.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
Some more than, others, right absolutely moren And, DOWNS i
think you believe in. More Maybe pierce less if you
want to boil it.
Speaker 4 (37:10):
Down. Absolutely you know.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
WHAT i learned that simply at The colts luncheon On,
friday That Josh downs is the second Youngest colts player to.
Accumulate in his first two. Seasons he has placed second
in the number of yards he has amassed In colts.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
Set out surprise people reguaying battles some injuries.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Early and First Michael Pittman.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Jr, Yeah Marvin, harrison of, Course Bob, brooks other people
would have.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Thought was low, key has been putting up some. Numbers so,
Yeah and do.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
You guys have any Like, WELL i Know james is
in a huge fantasy football, player but do you have
any core Beliefs jeff when it comes like fantasy football,
drafts LIKE i will not draft a quarterback until, HERE
i will stay away from x amount Of like do
you draft receivers on bad quarterback. TEAMS i have.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Those things going AND i play quite a bit of fantasy,
football AND i have those core. BELIEFS i try not
to get a quarterback too early unless sometimes a draft
just presents things.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
Differently could be a like just a seasoned VETERAN gm
and the two board spoke.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
To me did two years in fantasy football, radio.
Speaker 4 (38:15):
Right.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Right my point, Is Kevin jake will back me up on.
This you want to have a strategy going into a.
Draft you want to stay with that, strategy but sometimes
you also have to pay attention to the way the
particular draft you're in is playing out and roll with
that to a certain, extent don't, You?
Speaker 7 (38:35):
Jake, uh you, Do and.
Speaker 9 (38:37):
Apparently my phone is doing them as well as Jamn
wright has in this. Preseason but, yes if you want
to see what like a strategy going in is. FINE
i will, SAY i think too many people and that's
not coming for. You and you actually have a very
good point. Here it's just that too many people try
to stick to that. Strategy because you brought the second,
point you have to be ready to. Adapt i've seen
a lot of people will be, like, OH i want
to get two running backs and TWO i receivers in
(38:58):
the first four rounds and then ignore the value that
might be falling to them on the draft. Board, yet
you can always go in with the plan if The
Mike tyson everybody has a plan to get punched in the.
Mouth you can't sit there and be, like, Well i'm
going to overdraft just BECAUSE i want to fill this
position before round.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
Blank, yeah what about go?
Speaker 3 (39:15):
Ahead, WELL i was just gonna ask generally core. BELIEFS
i get the whole adapting what's the draft? Starts But,
jake like walking into draft, Boom i'm in a twelve team.
Draft we've got A. PPR i don't. Know the football
knowledge level is pretty level headed around the entire. League
give me like a core value or two quarterback, here defense,
here stay away from pass catchers with bad? Quarterbacks what
(39:38):
are kind of a general two three core beliefs we
should have going into a.
Speaker 9 (39:41):
Draft SO i very much like drafting this year one
what is now being called HERO rb because people did
ZERO rb for very many, years about five years seasons.
Ago BUT i like getting one of those top tier
running backs in the first year rounds and then loading
up that wide, receiver especially as you said playing in
(40:01):
full POINT. Ppr, again things can change in the, draft
but that is my general approach right. Now quarterback and titands,
similarly but more So quarterback is basically if The Ricky
bobby approach first or. Last IF i can get an
elite guy and that means top four, quarterback top three
tight end in the third fourth, Round i'm not going
to jump into the second round and do. It but
IF i can get one of those guys in the
(40:22):
third or fourth, Round i'll do. It but if, Not
i'm waiting till the endgame because quarterbacks and tight ends
are so, replaceable And i'll double dip at that. POINT
i think you mentioned over at The ATHLETIC i did
an article one of the big mistakes people make is
wasting their. Bench it's when they Drafted Lamar, jackson then
they draft the second. Quarterback why you're never Benching Lamar.
Jackson so you're wasting a roster spot that you could
(40:43):
put on a running back or wide receiver. Flyer but
IF i do wait to the, ENDGAME i will double.
Dip i'll take a chance On Kayleb williams And Justin
fields and even going further down to some of the
breakouts LIKE jj, McCarthy because you take two shots at
hopefully getting the top six or seven tight end Because
i'm never going to be happy with quarterback fourteen or
tight end, eleven like those guys are replaceable every single.
Speaker 5 (41:04):
Year SO i do want to ask, This, jake and
this is a kind of a joke, question but kind
a real. One when did you REALIZE i can have
a career in fantasy football and we're writing about it because.
Speaker 4 (41:14):
It sounds like the coolest job. EVER i, Mean i'm
In indianapolis right. NOW i love my. Job it is
great doing radio covering The colts and The fever and The.
Speaker 5 (41:21):
Pacers but at Times i'm, like, man THIS qb conundrum right,
NOW i don't want to be around this all the.
Time but in your, WORLD i guess you get, to you,
know kind of have a little more. IMAGINATION i would, imagine.
Speaker 9 (41:33):
Yes and Surprisingly i'm going to date myself on this.
One if you guys remember forums back To Okay, ONLINE i, was,
YEAH i was A giants fan at the, time AND
i was in forums and just jumping into everybody's fancy
football question. Conversations at one, point some random person in the,

having The Shu la father. Like he's just a great
