Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to the Best of the Fan Morning Show
on ninety three five and one oh seven five the Fan,
Good Morning, and.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
I hope you Tuesday is off to a rip roar
and start. We're looking forward to a day of rest
for the Indianapolis Colts.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
They are seven and one. They have certainly earned that
Indiana football.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Is eight to no and just tearing everything up that
goes in front of them. And we talked yesterday about
the fact that James Boy looks like they have an
easier schedule in the Big Ten the rest of the
way until whatever the championship game might hold for them,
assuming they don't trip up along the way. But they
got to feel good. And we heard a moment Ago
and Fisher are going to be okay, So that's good

(00:37):
news too.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
I mean, but if you believe that coach sig is
gonna let these guys relax and think they got an
easy coast intil the championship game for the conference, I mean,
I have a beach farm property to sell you in
the middle of Indianapolis. He will not do that. He
will certainly find something for us he need motivated by.
And maybe it's just the fact that they're not number
one in the country, because the way they're beating teams,
they have a case to be the best team in

(01:01):
the country. And also just week in and week out,
they're proving your legitimate national title contender, which again sounds
crazy to say, but not so crazy to say given
the resume the last two years.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
I'd like to get more information on that beachfront property.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
It might be interested.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
It's great conversation and also great conversation. We've talked about
it here, but nationally people are starting to say, I
don't know, can Jonathan Taylor maybe be the most valuable
player in the NFL if he keeps up this pace.
Generally you got to approach two thousand yards and have
a bunch of yards from scrimmage too, and lead the
league in touchdowns with over twenty, and he certainly seems
on pace for those type of things.

Speaker 6 (01:35):
Kevin Bowen, Yeah, I will believe it when I see
it from the voters. I just you know, I know,
we got this debate in the nine o'clock hour yesterday,
But MVP is a quarterback award.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
It's not about you got to get out there in
campaign then.

Speaker 6 (01:48):
Not the best player in the NFL. You know, you
go back to when Taylor led the league in rushing
in twenty one and had whatever, he had, eighteen nineteen touchdowns,
he didn't get a single MVP vote. You look back
on that year as well, well, that was the year
Cooper Cup had the most catches in the NFL, the
most receiving yards in the NFL, the most touchdowns in
the NFL, and he got one MVP.

Speaker 7 (02:11):
Boll.

Speaker 6 (02:11):
I mean, there's fifty of them and you're telling me
a do that as a triple crown gets one vote.
Jonathan Taylor leads a league in rushing by five hundred
more yards than anybody else, No one was close to Taylor,
and he gets zero.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
So I just what if the Colts end up going
thirteen and four?

Speaker 5 (02:29):
Yeah, maybe, but I mean I think Daniel Jones might
trump him.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Then at that point, I just think.

Speaker 6 (02:36):
It's a quarterback award, And again I would disagree with it.
I'm not a big you know, just call it a
quarterback award and I get it. If you want to
literally write out the acronym, it is most Valuable Player.
We did this debate again the nine o'clock hour yesterday.
Would you rather on Sunday, play a game with a
mirabdullahs you're starting running backer, Riley Leonard as you're starting quarterback.

(02:58):
I think both of you said a Mirabdulla's you're starting
running back, like that's the value of the position. But
then just called a quarterback award and called something I was.
I guess offensive Player of the Year is than a
different element of it.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
So question.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
My hot take when it comes to MVP voting in
any sport is that they shouldn't be There should be
more unanimous MVPs. The people who say, like you just said, oh,
like they couldn't get one vote. No, they couldn't. I'm sorry.
That year Aaron Rodgers had thirty seven touchdown passes and foreignerceptions.
I cannot vote for Jona Taylor's MVP. I'm so Cooper Cup, like.

Speaker 6 (03:35):
Most catches, most yards, most touchdowns, how many wide outs?
About a triple crown in NFL history.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Yeah, and you would have been in my voting list.
I would have had Aaron Rodgers Cooper Cup number two.
But I'm not voting you number one because I think
you like deserve to be in the conversation.

Speaker 6 (03:48):
Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Disagree.

Speaker 6 (03:50):
I mean Travis hunder last year is the best player
in college football? Like that to me checked out. When
you talk about the most valuable player, it's just always
going to go to the quarterback that has the best stats.
And I would disagree on that. I think it should
be more of a best player award than that.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
We could just square up then Mark Music, let's get
running out, I think Kevin.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
My other thing with that though, too, is like, there's
the most Valuable player, but then there's like Offensive Player
of the Year, and if the MVP is a quarterback,
then shouldn't that be Offensive Player of the Year as well?

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Okay, I like that argument better.

Speaker 6 (04:29):
I would agree that one's never checked out. It's always
like the it's the same thing in college's like the
Dave O'Brian Award. I think for that, I'm like, wait
a minute, a different player, a different quarterback and win
the Dave olle brian Award versus the Heisman.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
So Patrick Mahomes won the MVP, then how is he
not also most offensive like Offensive Player of the year?

Speaker 4 (04:46):
Right, Sorry, more of my hot takes. I think it
should be both.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Well, regardless of how the boating ends up going.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
The head coach of the Danapolis Colts, is in awe
of what he's witnessing. He talked about Jonathan Taylor and
his dominance yesterday, and.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I think the patience is a big part of it.
I think, you know, the camaraderie and just you know,
being behind our offensive line, you know, it's been intact
for a while, and he knows how to read those
blocks from those guys, and those guys are creating the holes.
And then I think he's just running so physical, you know,
through the tackles, and then when he's out in space
on the second and third level, just the ability to.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Make you miss and and you know you.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Use the stiff arm and bounce off tackles to create
that extra yak. And then when he is freeing space
just to hit those home runs are awesome.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
That's shame.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Stike it on Colt's round Table with Matt Taylor last night.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
But yeah, he's.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Getting holes, he's getting into the secondary and once he
gets to that next level, he is making it happen
to himself.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
James Boyd Jonathan Taylor, by the way, has jumped up
in MVP voting. He was eighth yesterday. Now he's up
to fourth he has jumped to that voting or odds odds.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Okay, to that point, I will say he's on pace
with thirty touchdowns from scrimmage. And the last player to
do that was Ladanian Tomlinson in twenty I don't want
to two thousand and six and he won MVP.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Didn't he throw a touchdown pass? Or that year?

Speaker 7 (06:06):
Two? Oh? Crazy? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (06:08):
I would have to go back and look, I mean
those Chargers teams. How did you not make a super
Bowl when you have Philip Rivers, Antonio Gates and Lt.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Marty Shottenheimer.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Perhaps, but well I wasn't.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
There was a fumble that they had a game, a
playoff game in hand, and they fumbled the ball late
and that led to game losing points. So the weird
things happened to them back in those days. It was crazy.
But yeah, Ladanian Thomason was special. So you who knows Saucord,
You're right, Kevin, it's a quarterback award.

Speaker 6 (06:36):
Well, and I would say how the NFL vus running
backs a lot different than how they viewed them in
la Danian Thomlinson's year. Oh absolutely, you know, even Adrian
Peterson as our last it was crazy.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
They back to back MVPs. They're running back with two
thousand and five Seawn Alexander, then l Danian Tomlinson. Then
they had a gap. I think it was might have
been Adrian Peterson in twenty twelve and no one since then.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (06:55):
Different. You know, Derek Henry I think had some really
MVP type of or against player type of seasons and
obviously he hasn't won one since. So great are you might?

Speaker 3 (07:05):
Great problem to have, and.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
The Colts have definitely two players that have played an
exceptionally high level this season. But I will hold my
breath and wait and see because typically it's a quarterback ward.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
So the next time, you guys get a chance to
talk to Shane Styke and what what you interested in
finding out? More than anything at this point in time
right now, not that he'd shared necessarily, but what do
you want to ask him?

Speaker 3 (07:26):
What do you want to talk to him about?

Speaker 8 (07:29):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
I'll just talked to him yesterday. I'll figure that out tomorrow.
I guess you get more than an hour and a
half of sleep. Yeah, yeah, I mean, it's not really
much to ask the guy at this point. A lot
of it has to do with health. I mean where
guys are at. Perhaps Jalen Jones, will he be available
this week for that Pittsburgh game as a cornerback? You
probably need him. Again, it's guy like Aaron Rodgers. But
there's not a lot of like groundbreaking questions in any

(07:51):
of us. I think are asking Shane second at this point.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
But it's like the SNL sketch with Chris Farley interviewing
Paul McCartney's like, do you remember when you were at
the Beatles?

Speaker 3 (07:58):
That was awesome?

Speaker 5 (07:59):
It's like remember what Jonathan Taylor at that eighty yard
touchdown though?

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Is awesome?

Speaker 6 (08:03):
I know, it's like what you're at with question wise. Yeah,
I think today it is. You know, do we see
any trades that would probably be where I would go? Obviously,
Shane's not going to say these things publicly, but actions
will indicate it. Again, yesterday you saw Tennessee they traded
actually the corner that threw Daniel Jones to the turf
on Sunday, Roger McCrary to the Rams. So that is
a very straightforward. Tennessee is selling the Rams. I think

(08:25):
we remember this back in Week four. They've had cornerback issues.
They are buying and that one checked out pretty easily. NFC,
AFC trade, et cetera, et cetera. So again, you typically
when you see trades, and we hadn't had one in
a week or so. In the NFL, this is typically
what it looks like cross conference, a clear seller, a

(08:45):
clear buyer. It happens on a Monday. In this case,
you know, Monday or tuesdays. You let that guy ramp
up throughout a week of practice. NFL trade deadline is
one week from today. I think Shane Steichen would like
to see a move. We'll see if it happens.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
All right.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Checking in on the fan text line at two through nine,
ten seventy, Ryle was talking about the offensive line. He says,
they you're young in spry again, James, that's the biggest difference,
young and spry.

Speaker 6 (09:09):
Sounds like an ad for a blue pill.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Whatever.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Maybe it's the blue blue pill that's working there.

Speaker 9 (09:16):
We go.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
Ryley, Uh, let's see.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
George wants to know Kevin from the expertise you all have,
what's your comfort level with the amount of carries that
JT has so far? Was an area of concern before
the season started, especially for you, and thoughts on that.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
Yeah, you know, I wouldn't mind, you know, just the
little tone it back of it. You know, I think
we get into this running back to debate a whole
lot of you know, Notre Dame fans are feeling it
right now, Jeremiah Love. Yeah, you would love to see
a Heisman campaign, and I'm sure Colts fans would love
to see Jonathan Taylor win an MVP Award, but you'd
much rather have him for seventeen games so and obviously
any sort of playoff run. So what does that look like?

(09:57):
You talked about it yesterday. Taylor's health has been absolutely
pristina this season. I can't recall last time he's missed
a game, missed a practice, let alone even shown up
on the injury report. So yeah, I don't think that
would be the end of the world to get a
Mi Abdullah or you know, Tyler Goodson was back in
the lineup on Sunday, just to get some of those
guys a carry or two and try and keep Taylor

(10:19):
as fresh as possible.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
Do you think, Jason, Yeah, I would agree. Well, everything
Kevin just said.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Well, it's gonna be fun to watch how the Colts
play this whole thing out and whether or not they
do add some help. And like I said, I think
from a fans perspective, as we sit and watch, you
think to yourself, Man, if this defense just had an
edge rusher that could make some kind of difference, not
even dominant. Like we were all, you know, we were

(10:48):
having fever dreams yesterday and I said, what about Miles Garrett?
Could you imagine that? Well, yeah, we can all imagine
that it's not going to happen, But I don't know
as a guy like a Bradley Chubb from Miami in play,
and would that kind of guy help take some pressure
off the waurs Buckner is getting double and triple teamed
in the middle all the time.

Speaker 6 (11:02):
Yeah, I think those are the types of players and
teams that make a little bit more of sense. You know,
Booger McFarland in the Super Bowl year that did not
you know, that was not Miles Garrett like or Trey
Hendrickson like or Max Crosby like, but it proved out
to be a very effective and needed piece for that team.
And I think you can make the argument they don't

(11:23):
win the Super Bowl without a Booger McFarland type of trade.
And you know, I don't want to act like the
Colts roster is aging by any means, But when you
think about guys twenty nine thirty north of thirty, and
we're talking Grover Stewart, DeForest Buckner, Kenny Moore, Quinton Nelson,
Braden Smith, Zyara Franklin, and we're talking, you know a

(11:44):
good amount of those guys you'd label what top ten,
top fifteen players on your team. So when these opportunities
present itself, and it doesn't present itself every year, I
would argue it's the only time I've probably ever thought
that the Colt should be a buyer in the Chris
Ballard era. When they do, I think some you know,
Chauncey billups chips into the middle of the table would
be wise.

Speaker 5 (12:04):
I was gonna say, how all chips in should they be?
Because obviously this is the best chance they've had in years.
Shouldn't you go for the moon? Shouldn't you shoot for
the stars?

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Right right?

Speaker 6 (12:14):
Which I think you have to remind yourself, But you know,
right now, Mark, if you look at you know, next
year they have all their draft picks besides the sixth rounder.
You would think, knowing Chris Ballard and his ability to
trade back. You'd recoop that pretty easily, and or maybe
Anthony Richardson gets moved in the off season to recoup
some of that. So yeah, I think of third rounder
again takes two to tango, which, yeah, I think we

(12:36):
have to remind ourselves. I'd be totally content with that.

Speaker 5 (12:39):
You need a dance partner. But on the other side
of be like, hey, we've got draft capital, we're willing
to spend. We have the best chance of making the
playoffs and winning the division in a long time. Let's
shoot for the stars here. Let's see what we can
get done.

Speaker 6 (12:50):
NFL trade dances probably look like you and I market
most of our dancing.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
Winning against the wall?

Speaker 4 (12:55):
Is she did she look at me?

Speaker 2 (12:56):
I looked she looked at me.

Speaker 6 (12:58):
You look at me, or say the walls behind me.
I think she looked at me.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
I would say most realistic approach will probably be trying
to get one of the Miami guys. I think Chubb
is too expensive. Bradley Chubb's defensive edge rusher. He's got
three year left on his deal. I believe a big
money contract, none of it's guaranteed after this year, but
still a lot of maneuvering there when it comes to
salary cap. But then you look at Jaln Phillips injury
history there form first round pick I think in twenty

(13:24):
twenty one six' five athletic edge. Rusher if you go
get someone who's not a you, know one a, star
then they're going to be flawed to a. Degree so
would you give like a fourth round pick for a
guy like? That maybe that's where you need to start
a you, know dating around stoop and a.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Round all, right we'll see what The colts decide to.
Do come outpot a few minutes. Here we hope to
talk To Doug, bowles who's going to join us from The.
SPEEDWAY i know they want to get a jump on
starting to sell tickets and talk about some of the
things that they have going up. There that's one thing
about The, Speedway, kevin and we know. This they never.
REST i don't Think Doug bolls ever. REST i think
he's his mind is churning and there's got to be
something going on and something new and something different almost every.

(14:01):
Day it's, crazy the speed with which that man works
and the energy that he.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Has only no one like.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Him so looking forward to hopefully talking to him coming
up in a few. Minutes as far as The pacers are,
concerned you're just joining. Us they did make one. Movie,
Yesterday mac McClung signed for, backcourt helping amidst all the.
Injuries they cut one of four centers they had, Kept
James James weiseman is no longer with the.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Team, yeah he was.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
The odd man out when it comes to that four man,
center my committee. Approach he was the only, CENTER i,
believe of the four who did not play every single.
Game so when you get a new guard in, there
it kind of was the writing one was on the
wall to move on From James.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Wiseman all, right and emerging from the green room now
as The Doug bulls the aforementioned man over at The
Indianapolis Motor. Speedway Good tuesday, Morning, Doug welcome to the
show and.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
We are always happy to talk to.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
You how are things, going and they quote unquote off, Season.

Speaker 9 (14:52):
Well we finally are in the off.

Speaker 10 (14:53):
Season.

Speaker 11 (14:53):
Finally we just had our last test on track yesterday
and now we start winner rising and counting down for
the twenty twenty sixth. Season so but you, know the
good news is we get lots of great sports In.
Indiana they watch for the next few months until we
go racing.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
AGAIN i still want to have a football game somewhere
in the. Infield is that even possible?

Speaker 11 (15:11):
Anywhere you, know it would be possible to do for.
Sure the challenge we have is the place is so.
Big you would put, this you, know you put the field,
somewhere like if you put it in turn, one for,
example in the grass area In turn, one you'd only
have a portion of the track that can see. It
so while we have two hundred and thirty five thousand permanent,
seats not all of them would you, know would get
to see. It so that's the biggest. Challenge you, know

(15:34):
we couldn't engage all of our, seats BUT i would
love like the The Winter classic or some cool football.
Game you, know basketball came on the yard of bricks
kind of, thing if you build. It you, know we've
explored a lot of. It we just haven't found the
right the right thing.

Speaker 7 (15:49):
Yet.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
WELL i like all the things that you tend to
come up. With they're always kind of. Fun what are
you guys working on right? Now what can you tell
us about where we're at at The? Speedway as we
sit here a few days Before.

Speaker 11 (15:58):
Halloween well we just LIKE i, said we just got
done with our last real test yesterday for The Indie next,
cars which are those cars that are just below The
Indy car.

Speaker 9 (16:07):
Cars so we'll start winn, rising.

Speaker 7 (16:09):
Getting ready to.

Speaker 11 (16:09):
Go but our tickets go back on. Sale so the
biggest time for ticket sales for us is in our renewal.
Period so as soon as the checker flag falls and
The indy five hundred got five hundred hours to, renew
your tickets are asked for an, upgrade and then the
team goes through all that and once that's, done tickets
go back on sale for folks that don't have. Them
so today we go back on sale with tickets about
two hundred and eight days from the one hundred and
tents running of the eighty five. Hundred so we'll start

(16:31):
cranking away and getting prepared for getting prepared for the spring.

Speaker 6 (16:34):
The tear away. Calendar on the dusk of The dusk Of,
Douglas i'm.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
Going to, say can you give us some, Insight doug
as to what that looks like for. You do you
have like just like a big clock in your office
that lets you know by the second of when the
NEXT inny five hundred.

Speaker 11 (16:46):
STARTS i do have a big clock in my office
that lets me know by the second win the five hundred.

Speaker 9 (16:51):
Starts but IT'S I.

Speaker 7 (16:54):
I.

Speaker 11 (16:55):
DO i do have a big it's a Big miller light.
Clock so it reminds me THAT i need to drink a.
Beer and by the, way it's two hundred and eight
days until The indianapolis five. Hundred so so today at two,
Thirty i'll switch to two hundred and seven days and
twenty three hours and you, know fifty nine.

Speaker 9 (17:09):
Minutes but so, yeah so today's two hundred and.

Speaker 11 (17:12):
Eight But i've done. It i've done it so long
now it's just in my. Head it's just one of
those things THAT i just automatically count. Down it's it's
part of the. Fun and, yeah so it just it
just is kind of.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
There, WELL i have to ask you, now next, year
when we do our Annual Miller Miller Like Carb day
show out there at The, speedway you're going to come
by and crack one With kevin And james AND i
like we did last.

Speaker 11 (17:33):
YEAR i will the one hundred percent any OPPORTUNITY i
have to grab a beer at the speedway and call it.
Work i'm in So i'm happy to do. That it's part.

Speaker 7 (17:45):
Part of the.

Speaker 11 (17:45):
Fun in, fact my you, know one of my favorite
times the month Of may is the night before the five,
hundred when you, KNOW i basically just stay up all
night and WHAT i end up doing is is taking
my tie off and walking out in the crowd in
the coke lot or through the, neighborhoods And i'll allow
myself to have one beer during the night THAT i
probably shouldn't drink a lot the night before the five,
hundred but part of the fun is just is just

(18:07):
hanging out with folks and watching that AND i tend
to end up with A coors light instead of A miller,
light but same, family so it works.

Speaker 9 (18:15):
Well but that's that's kind of kind of WHERE i.
Am but happy to share a beer with you.

Speaker 6 (18:19):
GUYS i thank, you And john maybe. Cheers last year
in the co claut the night before the, race The
Great Doug bulls with us here on The Payless slickers. Hotline,
DOUG i think it's our first conversation since the news Of,
fox you, know buying A i guess a chunk of
any car and, ims what do you envision as. Different
what will that financial backing from YOUR tv, partner which

(18:42):
is super unique in any, Sport what will that do
for you, guys maybe as early as twenty twenty.

Speaker 11 (18:47):
Six, WELL i think the biggest thing is it's it's
sort of an endorsement that they see a lot of
upside in The IndyCar series as we go forward it
for them to invest in, it you, know they obviously
saw what we, see which is a lot of.

Speaker 9 (19:00):
Upside and a lot of a lot of great things
on the.

Speaker 11 (19:02):
Horizon so that that's that's kind of the biggest thing for,
me is just that endorsement from. Them the, SECONDARILY i
mean we saw it last, year just the investment that they,
make and they did it this past weekend during THE iu, game.

Speaker 9 (19:13):
You, know Having alex flow down and really talking about.

Speaker 11 (19:15):
The indy five, hundred so leveraging a lot of their
other other sports properties to really help grow The indy
five hundred and the. Series and then having some of
The fox creative, Folks Eric shanks being one on our
board really helping us think through how do we just
continue to invest more in the promotional side and grow the.

Speaker 9 (19:36):
SPORT i think that's where we're going.

Speaker 11 (19:37):
To see the biggest Value and in, FACT i sent
along a long note yesterday To eric on some of
my thoughts in terms of how are we what are
the pillars that that we really should be growing the series,
around and how that we get after it and how.

Speaker 9 (19:48):
Can we engage their help to get.

Speaker 11 (19:50):
There so those ARE i, mean that's really WHAT i
think we'll see is just some of the the brain
power that they that they bring along with. It and,
then LIKE i, said it's just a great endorsement that
somebody else sees the value you in The IndyCar series
in the upside that we have over the next few.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
Years any clarity from a third party race control obviously
we had all the inspection kind of drama from last.
Year any any clarity on, That, YEAH i.

Speaker 11 (20:14):
Think where we're going to end up with that is
we're going to end up having to really roll that
announcement out here in the next couple of. Weeks we've
gone through a lot of different options of ways to
get our officiating independent and independent in the sense that
it just removes any optics challenges of the owner of
the series and the owner of the speedway actually owning

(20:36):
a team that competes in. It so we have to
build that firewall that allows the series and the fans
and our partners to feel comfortable that all decisions that
are being made are not being made in a way
that are benefiting the owner of the.

Speaker 7 (20:49):
Organization so we've.

Speaker 11 (20:51):
Had several options that we've looked. THROUGH i think we've
narrowed it down to a couple right. Now we had
a long meeting yesterday about really going through the pros
and cons of. Both SO i think we're going to
get to a situation in the next couple weeks where
we'll be rolling that out with the teams and then
ultimately rolling that out to the. Fans but we're definitely
committed to independent officiating in beginning in twenty twenty, Six.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
Doug you got caught being a nice guy. AGAIN i
got a story from a listener this. Morning oh says
a great story About. Doug we were at the recent
sports car race AT. Ims doug was driving around in
his vintage nineteen twenties race. Car he stopped around where
we were saw my five year old son looking at his.
Car doug immediately signaled over to us told him to
Climb in, moment my kid will never forget how much

(21:33):
fun was.

Speaker 9 (21:33):
That you, know one of the biggest things for.

Speaker 11 (21:36):
Me SO i bought this crazy nineteen twenty four race
car a year and a half ago because it was
in nineteen twenty Four chevy on firestones all the, thing
and it was the.

Speaker 9 (21:46):
Twenty twenty four eighty five. HUNDRED i called my wife
AND i, said, HEY i.

Speaker 7 (21:49):
Want to buy this.

Speaker 11 (21:49):
Car she, said you don't need another. CAR i, said,
WELL i need this. One and the reason it is
is because it's not a current. IndyCar obviously it doesn't
look like current. IndyCar but what's so cool about it
is it does ATTRACT i, mean kids love it so
and the ability for me to just step out of
the car.

Speaker 9 (22:05):
And let a kid get in the car and pretend they're.

Speaker 11 (22:07):
Driving you, know the most important thing any of us
do for our sports and the health of our sports
long term is engage kids so that their lifelong, football,
basketball racing, fans whatever it.

Speaker 9 (22:16):
Is and so for, me it's just a really cool.

Speaker 11 (22:18):
Opportunity to get a kid to smile and, frankly get
their parents to smile right when they get a chance
to get in the.

Speaker 9 (22:23):
Car so you, know there's nothing better than watching kids
fall in love with your. Sports so that's really the
purpose for that. Tool SO i do that quite a
bit with that. Car so it's a lot of.

Speaker 11 (22:33):
Fun and the speedway police were nice enough to allow
me to license this SO i can actually drive it
Down Main street and you, know it's it's really a
fun little it's really a fun little.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
Car that's good. Stuff, well enjoy. That back to work
selling tickets. Today and what's the best way for people
to get tickets is to go?

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Online or what do they?

Speaker 11 (22:49):
Do, yeah they can call the, office but you know,
anymore going ONLINE ims dot com is the easiest way
to do.

Speaker 9 (22:55):
It you can always call three one, seven four nine two.

Speaker 11 (22:57):
Eighty five hundred if you want to talk to a live.
PERSON i remind you that our ticket team is literally
in our. Office we're not outsourcing it to some tickets
ticket broker or some some ticket call center, somewhere so
they can.

Speaker 9 (23:08):
If you want to know what your seat's going to look,
like they can go out and take a picture of
what the view would be like from your. Seat and
we really take pride in the way that we handle
our customer. Service so either online or call the folks
in the ticket.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Office Doug bowles, ims thanks for checking. In we'll talk
to you, soon, Buddy.

Speaker 9 (23:22):
No no, problem, guys take care Of thanks all.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Right From Doug bowles to the head coach of The
Indiana pacers And Rick carlisle coming up next at ninety
three five and one on seven five the.

Speaker 6 (23:30):
Fans tuesday, Morning Kevin bowe And James boyd And Mark
dyton with you ninety three five ONE o seven to.
Five the fan should be Getting Rick carlisle on the
phone line here. Shortly they are in The central time.
Zone they've got The Dallas. MAVERICKS i Guess Rick carlisle
back in his old home there coming up tomorrow. Night

(23:52):
MAVs had struggled early this, Season Cooper flagg playing through
a left shoulder, injury so they'll see the number one
pick coming up tomorrow, night rounding out a three game road,
trip and then they'll be at home back to back
coming up this, weekend and then they'll go out west
here coming up early In. November so to talk more
about all of, it how about a happy belated birthday

(24:14):
to our next, guest The pacers head. Coach he Is Rick. Carlisle.
Coach good morning to. You how are you?

Speaker 7 (24:20):
Okay?

Speaker 6 (24:21):
Uh the NEWS i guess last week we had the
news Of monday night With AARON. E smith last Night mac.
McClung what led to you guys deciding on? Him and
is he somebody that will be available to you as
early as tomorrow?

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Night?

Speaker 7 (24:37):
Yeah He we had a workout yesterday with with three
guys and he, uh he basically won the won the
position he. Did he did a great job in the.
Workout it's clear that he's In he's in at least
at least pretty good. SHAPE i think he was either

(24:58):
practicing with THE G league team or getting ready to and,
uh so he he separated himself uh in the workout
yesterday and, so, uh you know today he will be
he'll be in the Anifacer.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
RICK i know you're just getting introduced to like his
skill set and him getting introduced to what you all
want to do as a. Team but for the fan,
base he's known as the three time Dunk. Champ but
what stands out to you about his actual basketball? Skills
Says beyond has been a high.

Speaker 7 (25:27):
Flyer, well he could. Score he's a hard playing, guy you.
Know for for all the things we did in the workout. Yesterday,
uh you, know he didn't dunk the ball, once so
let's get off of the of the dunking. Thing is
is kind of the the attraction. Here you, know we
need a guy that has, energy can go, hard is,

(25:51):
HEALTHY i think is healthy is probably the number one,
thing and that can play a couple of, positions so you,
know he can play, point play playoffs the, ball and
you know he's had some very GOOD ada. Games ALTHOUGH
i think this is, TRUE i believe this is the

(26:12):
FIRST nba contract he's just. SIGNED i know he's been
in he's been on a two way with some clubs
and gotten SOME nba time as a two, way BUT
i don't believe he's ever gotten any time or or
signed a uniformed player contract veteran player contract ever before.

(26:33):
This so that's a big opportunity of big.

Speaker 6 (26:37):
MOMENT Ram pacers maps coming up tomorrow, night rounds out
a road trip For indiana before they return. Home Rick
carlisle with us here on The Payless Slickers. Hotline, COACH
i know you mentioned over the weekend you're still awaiting
kind of some imaging On Andrew Nemhard maybe more Of Benedict.
Matheren any updates on those two guys on how long
they could be?

Speaker 7 (26:55):
Out? Ye, no.

Speaker 6 (27:00):
Have you have you ever dealt.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
With anything like?

Speaker 6 (27:03):
THIS i, mean it's it's incredible how long the injury list,
is particularly this early in the. SEASON i, mean you've
obviously coached a long. Time have you ever had to
deal with such an injury, list particularly in you, know
the month Of?

Speaker 7 (27:15):
October, uh not not like. THIS i, mean you, know
we we went through the brawl, stuff and we were
very depleted uh as a team during that and we
had to bring in a lot of, reinforcements and you,
know there was a lot of stuff going on with

(27:36):
suspensions at that, time so we actually had less players
available in a few of the games at that. Time
so but this is this is. Different and you, know
one thing you can you can surmise from this looking

(27:56):
AT us And Oklahoma, CITY i think we'll Go OKLAHOMA
ce has seven guys, out or did leading to last.
Night they Played dallas last. Night we now have eight
guys out and both teams played to the very last
day of the. Season so, yeah it's it's very possible

(28:18):
that you, know playing to playing that number of games
may may be part of, this you, know it may.
Not some of these injuries really you, know like a
like something related to a left, shoulder like With. Nemard
you can't really trace that, to you, know playing a

(28:40):
lot last year and having a short. Summer but, uh
and you Know ben stepping on a guy's foot In,
memphis that's you, know that's that's bad luck whether you,
know certainly more than, anything but it's an interesting.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
Coincidence, again we Have pacers head Coach Rick carl joining
us only pay less lookers. Hotline, rick you Called Pascal
Siak i'm a total warrior the other, night and in
situations like. This he's always been a leader for this
team since joining the franchise a couple years. Ago but
how much more do you look towards him to kind
of help the group. WIN a lot of that group

(29:17):
might not have played, together they might be, young, inexperience
and here's a guy who's won a championship and been
An ALL nba player and obviously been very professional throughout
HIS nba.

Speaker 7 (29:25):
Tenure, yeah no question about. IT i, mean his, leadership,
obviously his skill set on the, floor you, know are
going to be massive components for us to be able
to compete at the level we. Need you had to
have a chance to win. Games so he's been even

(29:47):
great ever since he came. Here you, know his voice
has merged and gotten stronger over the months and now
now years since he's been. HERE i guess he's been
here about a, year about a year and a, half
maybe probably a little longer. NOW i think it was
Late january of twenty four and so, YEAH i mean

(30:14):
in this kind of, situation you look to your best
players for leadership on the, floor in the locker. Room
The minnesota game was an obvious example of his, greatness you,
know as both a player and the, leader and just you,
know there was a strong willed defiance that you, know

(30:34):
we were Gonna we're gonna hang in that game and
give ourselves a chance up to the very. End and
you know he was a major major part of.

Speaker 6 (30:43):
That Rick carlisle with us here, Again pacers And mavericks
coming up tomorrow night to say round out a road trip.
Coach you, know when bennetccathen went down On saturday, night you,
know he was on one of those heaters in the third,
quarter but we had talked about a play that really
stood out to us yesterday was you, know amidst that,
heater you, know he Finds Ben, shephard you, know for

(31:03):
three kind of pump, face gets in the, lane kicks
it out AND i don't, know maybe that's a play
that he doesn't make as a rookie or something along those.
Lines albeit a very small sample. Size but what were
you seen From ben here to start the season prior
to the.

Speaker 7 (31:18):
Injury, yeah you, know significant growth and you know really
in all. Areas you, know he was taken on more
difficult defensive, matchups offensively obviously carrying more of a. Load
his awareness of the floor has gotten, Better his reads

(31:40):
have gotten. Better you, know coaches have done a great
job setting up situations for big reads and practice or
him along with a lot of our, guys and it's really,
hating you, know to see that kind of. Improvements so

(32:02):
he's a he's a guy that you, know really ever
since the moment he was, drafted and even even before.
That you, KNOW i think the story has been told
many times when he came in for his draft workout
that he wanted to go back in that night work out.
Again he wanted to he wanted to learn he reiterated that,

(32:24):
he you, know wanted to be pushed to be the
best possible player that he. Could and and so you,
know he he backed, Up he's backed up those words and,
claims and so you, know this continues to be a
very important year for.

Speaker 6 (32:37):
Him, uh center, clarity do you have anything? More through three?
GAMES i felt Like Tony bradley gave you some nice
minutes the other. Night, obviously The James wiseman move probably opens,
up you, know maybe a little bit more clarity just
with sheer. Numbers but what have you seen from your
center position here through the first three.

Speaker 7 (32:56):
Games, well all of them have gotten pretty significant. Opportunity.
Uh they all bring some unique skill set stuff that's
gonna be very important to our. Team and so you,
know we need all of them in terms, of you know,
what what does this thing look? Like you, know who

(33:17):
the who's the definite, starter who's the definite? Backup all
that kind of. Stuff you. Know the other, night we
we started huff at four because of our roster situation
and just simply simply trying to balance it out so
that you, know we could we could sub on a

(33:38):
more or less normal. Basis and he did some good,
things you, know as as the start. Forward So memphis
And minnesota both teams that start the. Game Big dallas
is another big. Team so you, know if he doesn't
start it for you, know he is a very good

(34:00):
chance he'll see some some more minutes of that. Position
and you, know right, now you know a lot of
guys are getting their feet, wet doing some different things
than probably they've ever. Done but we're gonna have to
turn those things into.

Speaker 4 (34:13):
Positives, rick tomorrow, night you all Face Cooper flag for
the first, time AND i know he's a rookie and
things can change a lot from him for what he
looks like right now versus later in the, season but,
Earlier scott and report on. Him what stands out to
you about the number one pick in the.

Speaker 7 (34:28):
Draft, yeah he's a great, PLAYER i mean a great young.
Player so you, know it's it's rare you find a
guy that's you know what is he sixty nine six'
ten that, can, dribble, pass shoot and. MAKE plays i

(34:51):
mean he made plays off the dribble with, the ball,
you know passes at the last lobbs at the last
Second to lively and some of their bigs and and he.
Finds people, you know it's it's, pretty amazing. YOU know I,
MEAN dallas i think of the fortune of the houses

(35:14):
They had donchets and now they now they have this
guy as, a rookie, You know AND so i would
be cautious, to, make uh make a lot of comparisons
between the two, of them but there there there are.
SOME similarities, i mean you look at, the size the
ability to, create shots the, passing division all that kind.

(35:40):
Of stuff and we're talking about a very specially, Young Player.

Speaker 6 (35:45):
Rick CARLISLEGAN with Us Here pacers MAVs coming up. Tomorrow,
NIGHT coach I See tyres aliburn is traveling with, you
guys and, YOU know, i know, you know him being
a player and you being. A coach maybe it's a,
slightly different but you had a couple of different stints
in your coaching career where you didn't coach within your
whatever your two decade plus run. Of coaching did you

(36:06):
find those years when you weren't coaching beneficial for you in,
any way shape, or form and it can you at
all maybe compare that to what tyresee is going through.

Speaker 7 (36:16):
THIS year, i, did yeah and it was always an
opportunity to take a step back view the game as
more of a, you know from a from, from afar
more of a broad strokes macro view. Of it and,

(36:40):
you know when you when you coach day, to day
it's a, you know it's. A crucible it's it's there's
there's a lot of intensity, to it, et cetera. Et
cetera it can be an opportunity not only to view
the game from a, different perspective but to uh to rearge,

(37:00):
the batteries. You know, and so, you know coming off
of last year where, You know tyree's had such a
such an, AMAZING year, i mean and it was it
was it was a, winding road. You know it's it
started out slow, for him and and then as he
got got his legs and his rhythm and, all that,

(37:23):
you know things really started to Turn in december and,
and uh, you know we got other guys back that
were hurt and, all that and and then, you know, You, Know, January, February,
MARCH april, i mean, you know he did some he
did some, amazing things and then the guy ends UP,
all nba, you know so and then the long run
and again you know this is you go to the

(37:46):
very last. Possible day, you know that's a lot of
physical and emotional where and and so you never you
never want to say that it's that it's a much,
needed thing or that if a needed thing that, a player,
you know takes a. Year off but you always looked

(38:09):
for positives as to why a situation can, present opportunity
and certainly, this one THIS one i, think does and
and he's taking advantage, of it, you KNOW and i think,
you know many people have seen it was it was Probably,
on instagram. You know he he dunked the ball, last week,
You know and so this guy's doing phenomenally well with,

(38:33):
his rehabit and, you know he and He And jason,
TATUM both I mean tatum had dunked the ball a
couple of Weeks before, tyrese had and of course his
injury happened a few a couple three or four Weeks
before tyrese is and so he was he was a
little a little ahead of Ahead of tyrese in terms

(38:53):
of the timetable for. Injury recovery and of course he's,
taller too had, YOU know i can contribute to somebody
dunk in the ball a little bit sooner than. The other, but,
yeah no he's finding he's finding, the positives and, YOU
know i think this would be a great question to
ask him at.

Speaker 6 (39:13):
Some, point, well coach thank you for the, time again as,
we said a happy belated birthday to you. From yesterday
halloween upcoming on the schedule Here. On friday when you
think back to your halloween's, a child is there A
Favorite rick carlisle costume from back in, the day maybe
a favorite candy. As well is there Any vivid halloween memories?

Speaker 8 (39:35):
For?

Speaker 7 (39:35):
You uh, Not really. I'm not as, you know there
are some people that really Get, into halloween, you know
with with, the costumes with, some themes, the candy all
that kind. OF stuff i don't remember being that enthralled.
With it but the team did have a did Have

(40:00):
a halloween party a week or ten, days ago which
was pretty cool and it was a it was a
it was a it was a pretty good bonding bonding
thing and some of the costumes were. Pretty, Compelling, so
yil the number one thing is that hopefully everybody stays Safe.
On halloween, and UH but i had not given it that,

(40:23):
Much THOUGHT so i CAN'T say i appreciate, the QUESTION
but i acknowledge the.

Speaker 6 (40:29):
Question noted And the pacers will Be Playing halloween night
back here Inside of Gamebridgefield. Ass hawks i've been back
to Back With golden state coming Up. On saturday, coaches always,
thank you appreciate you being flexible at the, time change
and we'll talk to you.

Speaker 7 (40:43):
Next week, all, right guys Take care.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
Tuesday morning and today following Another, victory monday celebrating Both
the colts And The indiana.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
Hoosiers and got basketball.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Season starting it was great to talk and catch Up
with carlisle with you guys just a few. Moments ago
and now we go back To The. Indianapolis COLTS. Joel
a erickson covers the team For The, indianapolis Star The
indie star they call, it now and he is On
The payless. Liquors Hotline, Happy, tuesday joel what's your day
like When the colts have a?

Speaker 3 (41:14):
Day off how's that work? For, you well we have we.

Speaker 8 (41:18):
Have coordinator interviews at noon And then i've got Some
stuff i've got to work. Ahead on james has always,
TOLD me i got to MAKE sure i have every.

Speaker 4 (41:27):
Story, OUT yes i Subscribe To. ANDY starr.

Speaker 8 (41:34):
I have some other stuff. To do it's not really an.

Speaker 2 (41:36):
Off, Day unfortunately i'm going to ask you the SAME
question i asked the guys. THIS morning i mean a
couple of days after the seventh win of the, year
now and we Listened To shane Stichen on roundtable and
you guys heard a little bit from. Him yesterday what
do you make of this team at seven?

Speaker 3 (41:51):
And one?

Speaker 5 (41:51):
For?

Speaker 8 (41:51):
Real yeah, oh, YEAH yeah i mean they're at the
point now where at seven, and one, and like really
you're not necessarily thinking about the division. As much you're,
thinking about, you know what seed can they get in?
The playoffs and you. Should, be now there have been
SOME some afc sub teams that have gotten off the

(42:12):
fast starts and then, you know over the last couple
of years ended up, you know not finishing that way
but short short. OF injury i don't really know what
the formula for that. Would be just because the offense
is playing so well and so consistently against every type
of opponent that there are definitely some reasons to be

(42:33):
concerned about. The, defense uh but, you know you're you're.
Gonna win you're gonna win some of those shootouts if
you have to play them. As well, AND yeah I
just i just think the offense can beat you in too.

Speaker 6 (42:44):
Many Ways joeli Erickson from star with, This, here joel
we appreciate you being flexible. With us sorry about some
of the time changes On this. Tuesday morning, all right
trade deadline is a week. From today, you said concern about.
The defense where are you at when you Think about
january football and the urgency to make a move and
what that could?

Speaker 10 (43:04):
Look, LIKE YEAH i i think that if you if
you look at it like just from a, positional, standpoint uh,
strictly like strictly from what they need, THE most i
think it's.

Speaker 8 (43:17):
Probably corner but just From what i've seen in terms
of who might, be available it feels like an edge
rusher might be, you know a guy that's a difference
maker might be a little bit easier to find it.
Edge rusher so one of those TWO spots i think
is the is the thing that sticks out to me
in terms of just this is a team that's given
up a lot of passing yards the, colestar uh and

(43:40):
it hasn't bit them, yet necessarily but it. Obviously could
we saw it In the, rams game AND and i
think just trying to upgrade that that, pass defense that
third down defense in some way is the. BIGGEST thing
i also just kind, of think, you know if you
look at that that deal that went down yesterday's and

(44:00):
send Nickel cornerback roger McCreary To, the rams that's for a,
conditional pickswap like he was like a it's like a
fifth rounder for a, sixth rounder and.

Speaker 7 (44:09):
It depends on.

Speaker 8 (44:10):
Playing time it just doesn't seem like it seems like
there's probably a decent player you can get without really
having to give up a ton in terms of in
terms of.

Speaker 4 (44:20):
The Price, so joel going back to the offense for,
A SECOND when i tell you they have the number
one rank scoring offense in, the league but they haven't
had a hundred yard receiver, this season your reaction IS
what i think.

Speaker 8 (44:36):
IT helps I think i think It Helps shane. STIKE
it i think it Helps.

Speaker 7 (44:41):
THE colts.

Speaker 8 (44:43):
I think it helps, YOU know i think it Probably
Helps daniel jones that he doesn't have to, you know
when you have that great receiver and that the ball
is going to them.

Speaker 7 (44:53):
EVERY time.

Speaker 8 (44:56):
I think i think you have to do a lot
of stuff in the offense events to make sure, he's
hidden keep coverages off, of him find ways to get.
Him open colts don't really have to. Do that they
don't have To do they can just call, what works
and they can just call what works for the coverage
and feel pretty good about the fact That wherever jones

(45:18):
is throwing, the ball the guy's going to make.

Speaker 2 (45:20):
A play Talking To joeli Erics And indy starr About
The indianapolis colts getting ready to go into the second
half of the season pretty quickly here and a lot
of big games. Coming, UP specifically i know it's still
almost am off, the way, But Man kansas city is
on the, rise again and how big does that game
start to Look At?

Speaker 3 (45:39):
Arrowhead, stadium.

Speaker 8 (45:41):
Yeah it could be. Really big, you Know the chiefs
getting three losses there at the beginning of. THE season
i think in terms of who's got the higher seed
is it's the significant it's the significant advantage Of the
colts have because, you know this Is the chiefs are
always playing a first. Place schedule they have to PLAY
The afc west in their. CONFERENCE schedule, i think, you

(46:06):
know picking up some mosses early, isn't good, but yeah
it does feel Like the chiefs are another team that's
our a team that looks offensively like we've seen them
look in, the past and that's that makes them a.

Speaker 7 (46:17):
Good one.

Speaker 8 (46:19):
It's a tough schedule for the For the colton, in general,
BUT yeah i think most people are gonna circle, that game.

Speaker 6 (46:23):
All right last one, For. Me joel WHEN your nfl
brain starts, TO speak i. Typically LISTEN when i, SAY
typically i, Always Listen. Coach JOEL so i bring that up, TO.
Say mvp we know what the acronym stands For Most,
Valuable player we know how the award has largely gone

(46:44):
over the last. Decade plus when YOU hear mvp and
correct Me if, I'M wrong i believe that the fifty votes
that go FOR. THE mvp i don't believe our market has.
A vote how do you? View it what should? It
be should It Be Most? Valuable player should it be?
Best Play Should jonathan taylor have? A chance does he have.
A chance i'll leave it very open ended and LET
your nfl.

Speaker 8 (47:05):
Brain GO so i have thought for a, long time
and this is generally my voting Thoughts on Like, the
heisman which has also become a, QUARTERBACK award i don't.
LOVE it i would prefer to open it up to
the entire. Entire, league really, you know there was a
YEAR Where jj watt had a pretty good case with

(47:27):
what he was Doing. For HOUSTON and i understand that
it's the Award Is Most, valuable player and that. MOST
teams i think we all Know The tom moore quote
about what happens if your backup quarterback is in at the.
Same time, you, know Well If jonathan taylor's out Of this,
colts offense does it bring it to a? Grinding, Halt

(47:51):
NO but i also don't think you have the same
level of efficiency that you're having or anywhere close. TO it,
I REMEMBER i I think i saw online yesterday That
the colts run game right now is like the sixth
best offense or seventh best offense in football based on

(48:12):
expected points added. Per play is an advance that that
kind of like takes a look at how efficient. You,
are Yes the colts offensive line, is great but we
never say that with. The quarterbacks we, never, say hey,
this guy this GUY'S an, mvp candidate but his offensive line,
is great so we have to, discount him, or hey
the the the wide receivers he's got, are great so

(48:32):
we have to just. Count him like the offensive line
For the colts, Is great but if You're Watching jonathan,
taylor day, you know week in and, week out you
know that there's not another there's probably not another running
back who's who's making the plays he's making. Right now
so most most valuable player you can look at IT
in i think the way we all way most people

(48:55):
look at it FROM an nfl standpoint is, you, know
well if you don't have, that quarterback the offense won't. Be,
good obviously these cults are an example. Of that there's
a similar offense last Year With anthony richardson And So
daniel jones for the most part and not nearly as
successful on the flip side from a most valuable, player
standpoint in terms of what makes this? Offense special what's

(49:19):
made this offense really? Really special like they're really good
at throwing, the ball but they're just hitting people with
the run in a way that you don't see. Very
often this isn't Even Like saquon barkley last year because
it's just not happening on. Many CARRIES so i think
when a player is having a season like this in
a season where there's not a lot, OF quarterbacks I
Think jonathan taylor should be the front runner, right now

(49:42):
even though, YOU know i think the betting odds would
say he's.

Speaker 4 (49:45):
Probably, not again We Have joey erickson with us From
The indie Star Covers the colts last one, From.

Speaker 6 (49:52):
Me joel you.

Speaker 4 (49:53):
Had the series ON The rsa daughters who are now
taking over as the owners following the Death Of jim
irsay earlier. THIS year i would encourage everyone listening to read.
Those pieces but from your perspective as, a writer what
was it like pulling those? Stories together and can you
take us behind the scenes of the process of just
GETTING The rsa daughters on the record to, talk about,

(50:16):
you know life IN.

Speaker 12 (50:18):
The, NFL yeah I think i think, the goal more
more than, anything else was to kind OF Introduce Uh,
Carlie Ers Gordon, casey Foyt And KAYLIN jackson uh to
to the City.

Speaker 7 (50:34):
Of indianapolis as.

Speaker 8 (50:36):
As people we knew a Ton About jim orsay, uh
personally in addition to his role in terms of. The
team we knew a ton about like how his how his,
brain worked and stuff like that because he was. So
public as as you get to a change, in ownership
the idea, Here, was okay we're gonna have rest conferences

(51:00):
like we had where we ask about what they think
of what they think about the state of. The team,
you know we Know what taylor's been doing with kicking.
THE stigma i wanted to get at, you know who,
they are who they are and because because realistically the
three of them are the are the people you Know
at west fifty six that they're going to be with us,
the longest and so that was the goal of. THE

(51:23):
stories i think it probably made the uh interviews a
little bit easier because They were and then the other
thing was just, you know really got to Thank the
colts and and, you know all three of them for
giving me a ton. Of time all three interviews were around,
AN hour, i think and just kind of getting a

(51:46):
chance to try to get to know them who they are,
as people what matters.

Speaker 7 (51:50):
To them and then that's.

Speaker 8 (51:51):
The hard part is once you have an hour, long
interview you, Know, this james the hard part is focusing
it and making sure that there's a clear point.

Speaker 2 (51:59):
To it, Good, Stuff joel thanks, as always and look
forward to reading your stuff as it continues to. Come
out and we really appreciate you coming on the show every.
Week too love. Your Stuff thanks, joel yep.

Speaker 7 (52:11):
You bet, thanks guys
