Speaker 1 (00:00):
You were listening to the Best of the Fan morning
show on ninety three five and one oh seven five
the Fan.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Indeed, it is Tuesday morning. I almost feel like declaring
this victory Tuesday. We don't get to do this in
the first week of a season very often. This just
might be victory week, Kevin Bowen, let's just keep it rolling.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Well, I know who it's not victory Tuesday for.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Oh you went there right off the bat on a
Tuesday morning at seven o'clock, straight up, Old Kevin.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
Bowen looked, you want to wait ten minutes before we
get into it. Do you remember what everything console and
one Tuesday ago? Do you remember I think he had
a special intro for Notre Dame losing to Miami.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
And if you went to bed anytime during that game,
really before Cairo Santos missed that field goal, you woke
up and said, how the hell did the Bears didn't lose?
Speaker 5 (00:53):
If you know anything about the Bear, you this, Yeah,
I'm twisting a knife a little bit, but you know this.
You're not wondering how he looked dead. You're you're convinced
that the Bears do this every year.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
They're the Bears, and so Mark, I'm thinking, this is
how I'm picturing last night going. Caleb Williams starts the
game off ten for ten, seven to three. They've got
the ball back, Mark putting sunglasses on at home, just
like the old Jim McMahon. He's feeling it right there,
and just slowly it starts to unwind in the third quarter,
(01:25):
late in the third quarter into the fourth and it
just he's a piling, just gob of goo by the
end of the by the.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
End of the night, the way to describe you, he
just just melted it down into the corner.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
That's kind of how I saw it happen.
Speaker 6 (01:41):
Was just watching the momentum slowly shift and I'm like,
here we go, here we go, and sure enough, there
it is. It happened again. And I'm like, more things change,
the more they stay the same. And like James said,
if you're a Bears fan, you're just used to it
at this point where you're like, I can't have good things,
the vibes. They no one can ruin good vibes like
the Bears can. In week one, and sure enough they
found a way because you're like, all right, we got
(02:02):
the pick six and it's almost like the pick six
made the Vikings get better. All of a sudden they
threw that pick six, and it's like the Bears should
be on cruise control and instead the Vikings are like, okay,
now to start playing. And then the Bears just couldn't
stop getting penalties, and Caleb Williams's accuracy downfield was concerning,
and the running game wasn't that great. And you're Owen one,
(02:23):
and Yippie Kaye, here we go.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
And I was going to wait till like seven oh three.
I was just going to continue the momentum of Colts
fans and being in Indianapolis. But your good friend Kevin
Bowen here to my left, looked right across the console
into your eyes and and just chose violence.
Speaker 6 (02:39):
And I totally accept it because I would have done
the same thing when and if Notre Dame loses on Saturday,
he can expect a similar rejoinder on Monday.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Are you doing this morning, James boy?
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Just think twice before him send old Maddie Bowen on
the old text.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
He will not let that go. Karma is a dangerous game.
Does karma ever get its ultimate pay? Ackers is just
continually flowre game.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Karma is a dangerous game.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Wow. So with that, good morning and happy Tuesday everyone.
We're off and running here in the Fan Morning Show
with Kevin Bowen, James Boyd, and the cruppled Mark dyked
in this morning you'll you'll rebound by the Who Show though.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
I believe is how he described Caleb Williams.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
If we're with your kids or with no because it
just started to slowly melt like candlewaxs just melting down
into that, you know, whatever's left shot.
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Shout out to Ryan Kelly. All the Colts are winning
on opening weekend, right.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Yeah, so far.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
They had a couple of moments, Mart, He had a
couple of penalties.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
You're not sored all this morning, are you? Mark?
Speaker 3 (03:48):
I think that's such a tough call for defensive wyman.
There was a play on Sunday with a Forest Buckner
I think got two in the head and was so nervous,
looked right over the raft thinking, oh no, are you
going to call that? I think that's one of the
tougher penalties for for defensive lineman. They're straighting like none other,
try to get the sack, and then all of a
sudden that he like grazed the helmet and I go, oh,
there's fifteen yards.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
And don't think that if a guy's not winning his matchup,
he might just kind of help those offensive lineman's arms
up into like his chin area in the face mask area,
don't you think, James, Well, I'm talking about defensive lineman hitting.
That's that's on. Well, but either way, either way, I've
seen defensive linemen that'll that'll force a you know, hands
to the face on an offensive lineman. Sometimes too, I've
(04:27):
seen that happen.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
So yeah, quarter about hijacking the first two minutes.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
That's where we're That's what we're at because what it
means is the NFL is back, and we're all watching
record setting numbers of the first weekend with all the
different ways to watch, whether it's Amazon, whether it's YouTube,
whether it's Peacock, NBC, ESPN. The numbers are going crazy
right now. So people love the NFL. People are fine
if the NFL. Look the NFL built Fox Network, people
(04:55):
will find the National Football League. If your team's on,
people are going to go pay for that service. They're
going to find it. It's just what they do.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
And well, we got Packers' Commanders Week two here Thursday
night football, couple of Monday night games here in week
two and the Colts and Broncos. That's a sneaky little
four o'clocker now, Kevin Harlan in company, Trenton Green, Melanie
Collins on the call here again four o'clock. So the
Colts not living in the one o'clock Sunday time slot
(05:21):
endlessly here this season like they did last year. And
we'll start shift gears here to week two.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
I'll ask you guys real quick and we'll go into
detail coming up in the checkdown. But anything we need
to know about from camp yesterday as far as lingering, soreness, injuries,
stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Mooney Ward and concussion protocol. So the Javarious Ward, he
did go in the blue tent, I think in the
second quarter if I remember correctly, finished the game, went
back in the game, developed some concussion like symptoms yesterday.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
So start that process.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
I think at this point we're kind of used to
concussion protocol is to each their own, and typically guys
don't make it through in a week. We'll have to
see exactly how that goes for him, and cornerback depth
will be tested James, because we saw Jaylen Jones also
suffer a hamstring injury to the same hamstring he missed
multiple weeks in camp, so corner depth could be tests
(06:14):
in a week two. Although I don't think this opponent
will stress you too too much in that area.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
I think they might just a little bit, just because
they still have bon Nicks and you know, Corton will
Settling and others.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
But I'm not a big Bonex guy.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
You know, he's very up and down, and the last
year was his rookie season, and obviously I watched a
lot of their games. Towards the end of the season
he started playing really well. Didn't play well at all
in Week one, and really Sean Payton's looking for kind
of the same thing that Shane Steichen is looking for.
Just stay on schedule, make the right read, stay on schedule.
(06:46):
He's not afraid to go downfield, but he doesn't make
the right read all the time.
Speaker 7 (06:51):
We'll see.
Speaker 5 (06:52):
I mean, you take advantage of your opponent's deficiencies. So
if they're down a couple of cornerbacks, you're gonna probably
gona put the other ones to the test. So this
is one again that Xavin Howard's signing looks huge now,
considering the injuries, you already have to the cornerback room,
and then you'll see who that next person could be up.
I believe Makatt Blackman got in there a few times, Kevin,
could he be the other cornerback if you're going to
(07:13):
go Makay Blackman Xavion Howard impossibly? You know obviously Kenny
Moore in the slot.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
And we'll see bout Jonathan Edwards, the undrafted free agent
out of Indiana State Tulane where he ended his collegiate career.
He was an active on Sunday, but you would think
he could very well make his NFL debut. So yes,
corner depth, corner injury wise, will be a storyline here
coming up in week two.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
All right, and we're gonna talk if you missed it yesterday,
we had a conversation with Kenny Moore the second and
we will let you hear that conversation for the folks
in the seven o'clock hour that are on their way
to work and they have to get things done. After that,
we will let you Evestrup on that coming up a
little bit after seven thirty. So we've got that going
on and later on at nine o'clock today, Pat Boiler
(07:57):
is gonna stop by. Mark Dyke then talk to us
a little bit about the Fever getting ready for the
playoffs and no Caitlin Clark. And they've had five season
ending injuries. Think about that for essentially a twelve person roster, Kevin,
five season ending injuries like that, that's just devastating to
any team. The fact that they've made the playoffs is
almost unreal.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Yeah, it's really a remarkable story that the Fever have
been able to put it together. Kelsey Mitchell, I think
deserves tons and tons of praise for her just individual
workload that she's produced. I believe set a franchise or
a WNBA record for most double digit scoring games in
a single season. And Stephanie White, you know, for kind
of the mass unit that she seemingly has to deal
(08:38):
with night in, night out. So it sounds like tonight
it'll be a little bit of a scaled back Minnesota
Lynx a roster so on a piece of Colli you're
not going to play in this game, and the Fever
will happily take the rest into the playoffs as they
figure out exactly where they'll slot in on the road
for round one.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
And James Boyd. The one thing that has kept this
Fever team going in credit to the build in the offseason.
Despite all the injuries, they still have three of their
starting five. When you look at Howard, Boston and Mitchell,
they could start on any team in the league, either
of those three.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
Yeah, I mean the players, you just name two of
them when it comes to you know, Mitchell and Boston,
they're they're stars. They're all stars for any all stars.
So yeah, that's not a surprise at all. And we'll
see again the season finale. Regular season finale is tonight
against the Links, and then we'll see how all the
playoff standings shake out again. The Fever can't fall any
further than the seventh seed at this point, so we'll
(09:32):
see if anything changes there. But remarkable season for them
despite all of the injuries.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
All Right, coming up in a moment, we'll have our
first checkdown out of the day. We've got to Kenny Moore.
The second, we'll replay that interview if you missed it
in the nine o'clock hour yesterday, we'll do it just
after seven.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Third, I'll let Mark simmern one in the break.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
I knew this was coming. I was trying to get there.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
I could see it. Well, I was wrong with that
Bears score. I'm now looking at quarterbacks for the next
year's draft to see who the Bears will calm down
with the third pick. Chicago's where quarterbacks go to die.
Ben Johnson didn't draft them, so he's gonna want a
new quarterback.
Speaker 6 (10:08):
Are there concerns?
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (10:10):
Am I throwing in the towel when he's in his
first week of his third new offense in three years.
Speaker 8 (10:14):
No?
Speaker 6 (10:14):
Yes, the accuracy needs to get better on the deep ball,
but let's pump the brakes away.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
There is nothing that will test a fan more than
your week one reaction to your team. Nothing will test
a fan more than your good or bad. How do
you react to your team in week one? Mark? Good
luck today?
Speaker 6 (10:33):
Thank you? Yes, I felt like you against you know,
Notre Dame a few weeks ago, and I'm like, Okay,
been there, done that. You can't hurt me anymore. I've
been hurt too many times.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Well, that was last Tuesday. I remember it quite well,
nice little Labor Day Tuesday. And as soon as you
played all that audio, I thought to myself, hmm, Monday
night against.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
The like Mark, the Bears fan, He's like, he's like, yeah,
he at this one. He's just forever got his head
slumped down walking in embraced it.
Speaker 6 (10:59):
I'm embracing. I like to be optimistic. I'm also bracing
for the worst. Iantham from Jim Cornelisson. He killed always
as usual, always he doesn't missed circumstances look great. He
had the eighty five Bears in the building, and then
the Bears just went down their leg in front of
National TV, as they tend to do on an annual basis,
to break.
Speaker 7 (11:19):
I do know.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
It's a dangerous game, and continued a moment ninety three
to five, one oh seven five the fan. The fireworks
are starting early, Mark duck Don bouncing back nicely from
that rough just vicious attack by Kevin Bowen right out
of the gate at seven o'clock this morning, I'll recover
watching the Bears last night just get viciously attacked by
(11:45):
the Vikings.
Speaker 6 (11:46):
Well, that's what it's called head on collisions. That's what
I feel like I was in the last got twelve hours.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah, but James Boyd, you and I were just sitting
back watching it all unfold in front of us. I
thought there was gonna be that there were gonna be
fists flying for a minute there.
Speaker 7 (12:00):
Oh no, Mark is a veteran bear. Sans are used
to this.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
Yeah, every year they lose in some epic way. The
only funny part about it to me, in all seriousness,
is watching my family get so excited and hyped up
no matter what happens.
Speaker 7 (12:15):
It's like they go off the deep end at the.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
End of the season, and then by the beginning of
the next season they're all on board again. And then
I can you know, tell that my uncle who was
texting me last night, I told you diehard fan, Mark
his number. He's texting me in the game, like you know,
and I'm just reading his stream of conscious thoughts and
he was very upset what was going on.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
It's interesting because I think every fan base wants to
get excited, and obviously the Colts fans have been a
little beaten down over the last five six years or so,
and we had noticed that there was this kind of
sense of apathy heading end of the season. And you know,
despite the great win on Sunday and Jim Mersey being honored,
there were there were a lot of fans dressed up
(12:56):
like blue seats for a home opener this past weekend,
which was surprising. So my question to you, Kevin Bowen,
if they can repeat anything like that against the Denver
Broncos and come out of this one, two and oh,
does everybody jump right back on the Colts bandwagon at
that point in time? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (13:11):
I think I have. Yeah, I think you have a
lot of people that you know, they want to live
in the you know, short term fandom thrill of it
all and celebrate, you know, a month of September like
this franchise hasn't had in in eons, and you know
that it's probably a difficult.
Speaker 7 (13:30):
Exercise because quite a word, Derek Kevin, I like that.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Some people also consider here and say, yeah, you know
whatever one and oh, two and oh okay, Like do
you just love on the short term or is there
any acknowledgement of well, you know what about that long term?
And others might say, yeah, that conversation, you can wait,
put that on the back burner. And that's kind of
what I was with yesterday, even of like the hey,
wait is this real? Are the Colts that good? Are
(13:54):
the Dolphins that bad? I'm like, who cares? On this
Monday let's just sit here, basket it. You've never had
any sort of you know, Monday to start a season
like this and in quite some time. But yeah, I
do think you will see fans start to you know,
want to live and that I thought might commute down
on Sunday. I thought it was one of the smoothest
(14:15):
like traffic into a one o'clock game that I've ever had.
And you know, you mentioned some of the empty seats
that you had there, but once you start winning, you
will definitely get that.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
So to not push back on that, but to kind
of spend on that idea, when do you ask the question? Okay,
because I threw it out there after oh my story,
when is it okay to hope? And how much hope
should you have even just going into week two? Because
we can sit here and look up in ten weeks
and say that the Dolphins are just stink. But even then,
my counter to that, Kevin and Jeff, is that if
(14:49):
they are that bad, then you're supposed to bet them
that bad.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Well again, that NFL teams don't do what the Colts did.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
Okay, say the Dolphins are garbage, that's just supposed to
do to go, You're supposed to beat him down. So I
feel like you should have a healthy level of optimism
going into Week two. But at the same time, there's
that scar tissue there, you know what I mean, Like
you don't want to get too ahead of yourself.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
The NFL's just a grind. I mean, seventeen.
Speaker 5 (15:14):
Weeks is apps you've been in locker rooms like dog years. Yeah,
and you win a game, it's the highest level of
jubilation you'll see. You lose a game, it is like
going to a funeral afterwards, and you could be undefeated
for a month.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
If you lose a game in the NFL, it is crushing.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Like just take two sides of the week one overreactions.
Last year, absolutely, the New Orleans Saints scored forty seven
I believe in Week one. They put up over forty
in Week two and Dennis Allen became the first head
coach fired last season. That's how quickly it turned for them.
Go back a handful of years. Go to the Colts.
They lose Week one in Jacksonville. That is a Jacksonville
(15:55):
team that turned out to be one in fifteen. And
that's a Colts team that turned out to be a
player away from winning a playoff game that year. Despite
losing to the lowly Jags week one, they won what
ten games that year with Philip Rivers and ended up
making the playoffs. And I thought, very easily, outside of
Josh Allen's heroics and that wildcard game, could have won that.
So you know, that's just kind of how the NFL
(16:17):
cycle works. And you know, I know Shane Stegeb, you know,
played first team yesterday, played the clip from Daniel Jones
after the game of saying, hey, you know, sustaining success
is a huge, huge part of this league. And you
know it sounds super cliche, but you do have to
get back to the drawing board. And you know, James,
that schedule is set over your right shoulder for the
(16:38):
last few months.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
Now.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Every time I'm looking at you, I can't help a
glance at it. And you know, I have the Colts
four and two to start the season. I just think
there's great opportunity there. Now, this is one of the
ones that I thought would be a hiccup, but I'm not.
I don't think Denver by any means is going to
come in here and just walk all over the Colts.
I think the Colts have a great chance again. I'm
not overly impressed by Denver's offense. And if there's ever
(17:00):
a week to be banged up a corner, I would
put this week up there. I don't view bow Knicks,
Courtland Sutton, you know, Troy Franklin, Marvin Memes. I'm sure
I'm forgetting some others.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Those are the big three.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
I don't view that as like, if you were going
to say, hey, which week would you rather be banged
up a corner? Miami or this week? I would have
said this week overwhelming the point compared to Miami. So
we'll see again. Javeri's warden concussion protocol for those that
missed it, some symptoms he developed yesterday, and then Jalen
(17:33):
Jones sounds like he's going to miss some time.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
Yeah, let's check the fan text line for the first
time this morning, two three, nine, ten seventy people checking
in from all over the state, all over the country.
As a matter of fact, Rick says he's looking forward
to this weekend Morning Guys listener from Tampa. I'll be
meeting my sister in Indy this weekend. She's hailing from Wisconsin.
But She's a Broncos fan since the Lway days and
me a Colts fan since the Jim Harbaugh days. She's
(17:58):
always said to me, growing up culture, just baby Broncos.
We need this win. Also, we have dinner reservations at
Saint almost Saturday night. Other than the shrimp cocktail. Kevin
talks about what else should we try? I'm pumped, like,
low key check out. You know my favorite Harry and
is he's before you leave though too? But what else
would you suggest at Saint Elmo's besides the shrimp cock.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
I don't think you can go wrong.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Yeah, there's nothing bad.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
I don't think go wrong. You know this will sound
where my palette is at. But they have like that
garlicky bread that they bring to your table before. I'm
always like, boy, do I have enough clout to ask
for more of that? And then I'm just kind of
hoping someone else at the table does ask for more
of that. But Rick should be an awesome, awesome weekend weather.
It looks outstanding. We did get a few questions Bussy
(18:42):
Mark on why the Colts entered as a team on
Sunday and not as the offensive unit, and then whatever
Jonathan Taylor is the last player announced or defensive unit
and DeForest Buckner is the last player announced and James Boyd.
It sounded like that was a Shandon Steichen decision, sound
like a very last minute decision. Wanted to do that
(19:03):
to honor Jim Mersay, but that will not be happening
moving forward. Based off what Shane said yesterday doesn't sound
like at least.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
No, he didn't really give us a straight answer on him.
But I think my takeaway was that was just specific
for the honoring of Jim Irsay. And I know you
want to expand on some of the other things that's
doing for him, and one of them being very cool.
Actually it will shout out to Purdue for their help
in this, but I'll let you take it away, Kevin.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Yeah, So the Colts are going to do this each week.
You might have seen on social media walking into the
stadium on Sunday, Shane Siken and Pete Ward kind of combined.
Pete or the CEO of the Colts, kind of combined
on this idea of wanting to have a player chosen
at the Saturday night team meeting to walk into the
stadium with a custom made guitar. James brings up Perdue,
(19:52):
a Purdue professor, made this guitar. It's a very cool looking,
custom made and functioning guitar, and DeForest Buckner was the
first player that was awarded it on Saturday night and
he walked into the stadium. The Colts put that out
on social media. The guitar then sits on a whatever
stand in the locker room and all players and staff
(20:12):
members see that before the game to honor Jim Mercy.
So that will be kind of the weekly way to
honor Jim. And again, do you think that's a road
thing as well? I believe so, ok, yeah, I assume. Yeah.
I don't want to be in charge though, of the
Colts stafford that has to make sure.
Speaker 7 (20:28):
That's why I was asking. That guitar station was very nice.
Is that a carry on or do you have to
check that?
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Or because it's a nice private flight, you could probably
do whatever you want.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Private fights gets its own seat.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
Yeah, well honestly, yeah, you might strap it in next
to the old pilot up there. So yeah, it sounds
like this will be something that happens each and every
week here for the Colts.
Speaker 8 (20:48):
There.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
So yes to Forrest Buckner, honor Ey number one, and
we'll see about I like that. Number two. You going
honor the offense here out of the tunnel week two?
Were you afraid of the Daniel Jones booze in week one?
And now you're saying, hey and now standel Jones last
this week? Baby?
Speaker 6 (21:03):
Do it now?
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Baby? Are you going there? Do it now?
Speaker 5 (21:06):
I would, I honestly would, because he played outstanding football.
Speaker 7 (21:10):
He is your quarterback.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
He's your most notable player, I would think, at least
notable addition to this team. So why not lean into it?
I got to kick out of their social media post yesterday.
They had a video where I was so good that
I forget what even what show this is from? Or
you know what video this is from? The long story short.
They had two guys and one of them they had
put the face of Daniel Jones on there as like
(21:32):
the waiter or whatever, and then the guy's into the
table is a rigo Bertha Sanchez, and Daniel Jones comes
over to you know, I hope you're hungry and pulls
the lid off of his food and says for nothing
because there was nothing there, just kind of making a
joke about how Sanchez didn't have to have any punts.
Technically he had one, got called back and it was
a light day for the punter. It must be interesting
(21:54):
to have a job where no one wants you to
actually do it like they want you to do it
well when you're called upon. But if things go well,
we don't ever want you to punt. And so he
had a nice day off. I would say on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
Crazy, It never happens hardly. I mean, how many times
hadn't happened since niceteen seventy eight? And again crazy.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Judon for contributing to Rigoberto. He did pult one, but
it was a negating.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
I will say this though, the actual punt that he
made that was a heck of it. It was. It
was beautiful, turned over like it's supposed to and drove
the receiver back. It was good.
Speaker 7 (22:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
So the other thing was great, and we talked about
it a little bit yesterday, but I want to bring
it up again. Spencer Schredder was terrific. Did everything that
he was asked and dating back to the preseason now
he's put together a couple of nice little performances. I
know preseason is different than the regular season, but so far,
so good. James.
Speaker 5 (22:41):
Yeah, you know what I want to say, and correct
me if I'm wrong. Kevin, I believe he made five
field goals last year. Only attempted five all of last year,
and he made four and the season opener Sunday, so
he's nine for nine in his career. He has not
missed a field goal. I'm knock on some wood here
before the fancy. I'm jinxing him, But that is a
saw a star form. Again, he's familiar face. He was
(23:02):
actually the Colts Week one kicker last year due to
an injury to Matt Gay, but this year he is
the guy. He is kicker Numero uno, and so that
is always a good discussion to have when we're not
leading the show with back kicking play or bad offensive
line play.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
And a forty eight yarder two from Spencer late in
that game, so a little bit more distance on that.
Nick chiming in here cheat code at Saint Elmo cocktail
sauce poured into the navy beans soup bees that developed
an allergy to shellfish. So this is how I get
my horse Radish fixed. Boy, that is quite the way
to get the horse Radish fixed.
Speaker 6 (23:40):
I felt like that would hurt me, gosh, I feel
like that's.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
Something Mark might need you this morning.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
Speak to that. The text line is full of people
just taking shots at Mark. A lot of just in
the pack just bear suck, go, pack go. I mean
a lot of that, and that's one person. You sure
you don't have any burner numbers out there? Yeah, I'm
looking through it. It's pretty much me yeo, you like
I went time for burner numbers. I don't know. Mark.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
For our audience that maybe you know hit the hey
midway through the third quarter, you want to give them
a brief summarization of what happened after that to your Bears.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
The Bears continue to get penalized. There was a phantom
holding call on Darnell Wright that kind of store stomped
out a potential Bears scoring drive, and then JJ McCarthy
found his wits and he hit Aaron Jones for touchdown.
Justin Jefferson got going, and the Bears blew the game,
as they tend to do. Even when Ben Johnson's head coach,
(24:33):
he has to remember he's still coaching the Bears, who
have a history of just like going down their leg.
Jared b was I'm currently searching for gongs. By the way,
I've switched from drum sets to gongs. Curious if this
would sound good at like six in the morning on
a Saturday.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
Ken Max might be getting birthday president from Mark today.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
A happy birthday to Max Bradley Bowen. If I'm most sad,
I believe Max might be in the car right now.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Max.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
I love you, buddy. I love how you roar like
a dinosaur and a line of tiger. At times I'm like, wait,
who are wearing? Are we bowser right now? Am I
donkey Kong? Are you bowser? But I love you, buddy,
and I can't wait to hug you and give you
a kiss when I pick you.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
Up and drum set or gone possibly on the door,
picked up.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
A dinosaur cake and we'll make sure any Mark Dyton
gifts don't have batteries in there.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Mark Dyton's text and your wife, he's giving your kids
gongs for for their birthdays.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Like man I said it to Mark to start off
the show, karma is a sick, dangerous thing and he
is meeting it head on once he sent Maddie bow
In the text, I knew I'd get the last laugh.
Speaker 9 (25:34):
Well, here's the thing and I believe he sent her
multiple texts and someone might have said there was a
picture involved in these texts that I cannot confirm.
Speaker 6 (25:47):
James has seen these text messages.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
The fifth year.
Speaker 6 (25:55):
It's a picture of the they don't exist.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
I think Max says there's one of the squeezest and
I thank you Mark for those.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
This could be a lot of fil for you tonight.
Not better than like a little kid birthday party, though,
is there really?
Speaker 5 (26:11):
I mean, as a childless one, grown people birthday parties
are amazing, just saying. Matt Taylor was telling me he's
a lot less loud kid birthday parties. But I've had
some great parties I've gone to for adults.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Maybe Mark in comment on this. Matt, Matt Taylor and
I were chatting in a Colt training camp one day.
He goes, how old are you? And I'm about to
turn thirty six and he goes, dude, you're about to
get on the forty year old birthday train. Mark. They
were Matt Taylor was saying, like people treat their forty
year old birthdays like it's a Batsler party or like
(26:48):
their twenty first birthday.
Speaker 7 (26:49):
Oh seriously to me, big party?
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Maybe whatever?
Speaker 3 (26:54):
Go you know an overnight in Bloomy ten was like, yeah,
I don't know something along those lines here, So I
guess that is something to look forward to.
Speaker 6 (27:02):
Well, I mean, I could also just treat it as like,
if the Bears keep like this way, I'll be, you know,
off the wagon relatively quickly, and I'll be going into
every you know bar I can find and to drink
my sorrows away. So I could treat it like that
as well.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
We're getting some variations on those though, too. People were
getting tired of you getting hammered by the Bear's loss
last night, so Gritty just texted and said, cubsuck.
Speaker 6 (27:24):
Well, she can stick it because she's a Cardinals fan,
so she wouldn't getting good baseball to hit her in
the face.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Gratty, thank you for that. Cardinals and Reds fan shaking
hands virtually. Radio man, it's beautiful. That is beautiful.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
Uh, it's the Fan Morning Show with James Boyd, Kevin Bowen,
Mark Dyke and going at it today. I'm Jeff Rickard,
and I also see the jackets come off and the
self loathing fighting Irish fan now is wearing his fighting
Irish t shirt back on.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
Track here coming up Saturday night, Notre Dame text an
m from South Bend Notre Dame. I believe six point
favorite in that one, huge, huge game. I mean you
imagine if you start zero two, gosh, I'm gonna be
eating so much, you know what coming up on Monday.
But that's what we're at. How about have you guys
seen the line on this Purdue USC game coming up
(28:19):
on Saturday? We've got Indiana Indiana State on Friday. I
hate these Friday night Big Ten games. Right, Bloomington North
and Bloomington South in a high school football matchup that
in their own town. It's wrong. Indiana plays Indiana State,
it's wrong. Purdue's line against USC. Guys, what do you think?
USC is unranked? They have lost, They lost all their games.
(28:41):
They traveled into the Eastern time zone last year, so unranked.
Maryland beat them last year, Minnesota beat them last year.
Somebody else beat them last year when they traveled maybe Michigan.
And he guesses, well, you're selling it like USC is
the favorite in this. So I'm gonna say USC is
like a five and a half point favorite.
Speaker 7 (29:00):
Yeah, probably roll with what marksin.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
I'm gonna go fourteen and a half you.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Just see is a twenty one point favorite. The amount
of good respect that is the Purdue football program. You
have an unranked conference opponent traveling three time zones. This
team in USC did not win a single time. They
made the trek out East last year in their first
Big Ten season, and they're a three touchdown favorite in Rasset.
Speaker 7 (29:29):
They can't be that much better.
Speaker 6 (29:31):
I mean I I might be jumping on that line
right away on the produce side of things, because that's insane.
Speaker 5 (29:36):
And if we look up this time next week and
they actually lost by three touchdowns, that'll be very embarrassing.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
A lot of local connections in this one. Barry otom
you know, used to be at UNLV. Jordan Mayava, USC's
quarterback started his college career at UNLV. USC has put
up seventy three and fifty nine in their two games
this season. That sounds like a nice Big Ten basketball
score for the trop there. So for doue USC CBS
(30:02):
coming up Saturday afternoon and again Indiana Indiana State one
week before James Boyd, did I see your ALIGNI will
be in primetime in Bloomington a week from Saturday. That
will be a night game. Will College game day, be
there for that one.
Speaker 5 (30:18):
I am curious about that, and I've got a lot
of questions about will I be going. And I actually
know because I have to drop to Tennessee that day,
Nashville for the Titans game the next morning.
Speaker 6 (30:28):
But you can pull.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
Yeah, if you had faith in your A LINEI you
would double dip it.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
That's a what three and a half hour drive? Four
hour drive? If you can do that?
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Wow, Sunday morning?
Speaker 7 (30:42):
Oh wait, if the game is at night, why would
I wait?
Speaker 3 (30:44):
What Saturday night, Bloomington, spend the night Sunday?
Speaker 2 (30:49):
You wake up?
Speaker 6 (30:50):
It ain't never that deep drive to Tennessee or just
stay till halftime.
Speaker 7 (30:54):
No, no chance.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
I will find a nice bar in Tennessee, probably somewhere
on the streets Broadway Broadway and talk my trash at
a safe distance.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
Can we get a video on social media that night?
Speaker 7 (31:09):
Oh sure?
Speaker 5 (31:10):
If the line I went, I'll post the video trash
talking everybody. And if they lose, you know, my.
Speaker 7 (31:14):
Phone won't work.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
That's how it goes, all right, as.
Speaker 6 (31:16):
Will be the most sober person on Broadway that night.
This is TROSI some crazy thing. Honestly, I'm like, you
have no idea. How bad you Yeah, I told you
the story about Bob Kravitz. As long as I'm not
with him, I shouldn't be getting into any ubers. They
don't actually exist.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
Thanks and looking up for sports fans here in Indianapolis
and Indiana. All in all, we see the Colts winning
their home opener against the Dolphins this past weekend and
the Indiana fever. Despite the absence for most of the
year of Caitlyn Clark, have found themselves to go into
the w NBA Playoffs as either the six or seven seed,
and they've had injury after injury after injury, but they
(31:52):
just keep on keeping on. And a man who's seen
most of those games, if not all of them, joined
us now in the Payless Lookers Hotline, Pat Boyling kind
enough to spend a few minutes with us this morning.
At the very beginning of the year, Pat Stephanie White
talked about grace and resilience with this team, and man,
have they delivered on both of those things. Welcome to
the program, But how have they gotten to where they've
(32:13):
gotten so far?
Speaker 8 (32:14):
Yeah? Thanks for having me, guys. It's, in my opinion,
one of the great stories in all of the WNBA
if not sports this year. And listen, I understand the
twenty three and twenty record doesn't exactly jump off the page,
especially maybe to a casual sports fan that checks in
every once in a while, but when you consider there's
a great stat actually just thrown out by Rebecca Lobo
on Twitter, I thought about ten minutes ago, the Fever
(32:36):
are the first team to have five players go down
with season ending injuries. I'm spacing on the timeline here,
but it was. It's according to Rebecca Lobo, the Indiana
Fever are the only team to have to have five
season ending injuries over the last three years. And here
(32:56):
they are already clinched into the playoff. They to playoff
birth on Sunday. You know, I think Stephanie White and
your's staff deserve a ton of credit because she's the
definition of poise and grace under pressure, and I think
Chris Staff follows that brilliantly. And the front office. You know,
every single time the Fever bring in a player that's
(33:17):
coming in for a hardship contract, coming in miss Steves,
and it feels like that they've been with the team
for months, and that is really hard to do from
a chemistry perspective, and so you know, not having Caitlin
Clark has been an incredible challenge. But it's amazing to
me that last year, you know, the Fever had pretty
good helps the whole year and finished twenty and twenty
(33:38):
and that was a real nice step forward. This team
is going to beat that record despite the fact that
Caitlyn has only played thirteen games, despite the fact that
they've had five significant injuries this year. And let me
be very clear, the Fever need Caitlin to ultimately hit
their ceiling and big picture, her return and her health
is the number one storyline in my opinion. But for
(34:00):
this year's team that has dealt with what they are
to be in this spot right now, you know, a
chance to win tonight and finish twenty four and twenty.
I really think it's one of the great stories in
all the WNBA this year.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
Pat, great to hear your voice if I'm seeing correctly
here and Mark Dyton. We do try to be super
respectful of people each and every morning that do join
the show, especially someone like Pat. Pat works a lot
of late nights, right facers, Fever a lot of late nights,
and typically Pat is more of a you know, in
the nine o'clock hour, right, yep, you know, beauty sleep.
You can't look like that and act like you're waking
(34:31):
up at five.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Six in the morning. He always looks that good.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
And yeah, I mean hell, I mean he's a good
looking Carmel grad here, Pat Boyling, you had time for
TV though earlier this morning. I don't recall you having
time for the old radio show and the eight o'clock
hour before.
Speaker 8 (34:48):
I don't know that I have ever declined the radio
show in the eight o'clock hour. I have always just
stated my preference the clock hour. Because while I appreciate
the very positive pr spin you did right there, yeah,
thank you, I am. I am very much a night out. Well,
I will join your show if it was airing at
two am, and no qualms about it. You start talking
(35:10):
about the seven o'clock hour, and that's that's a different
story for me. But I am happy to do it
if necessary. And actually, yeah, I was down with Fox
fifty nine this morning doing a couple of hits with them,
and I actually had to thought, you know, this would
be good because it'll like, it'll warm me up for
you guys. Sometimes I'm still kind of cleaning out the
cobwebs when we're talking in the morning. But that kind
(35:30):
of helped me mentally get started for the day.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
In all seriousness, thank you very much for the time.
I was hoping you could maybe share for our audience
a story about one of the new Fever players and
I'll leave it open ended, honesty Sims Shay Petty aerial
powers like you know, KK Timpson. I know you know
from from a rookie standpoint, like any of these players
that at the start of the year, they probably weren't
(35:52):
even on the Fever or in the league, and now
all of a sudden they're playing very meaningful minutes. So
as we start to shift to the regular season finale
tonight and obviously the playoffs, any of them stand out
to you about a story for our audience.
Speaker 8 (36:06):
Yeah, And you know what's you know, just kind of
a perfect encapsulation of the season is if you would
have asked me this question a few weeks ago or
a month ago or so, the answer would have been
Erry McDonald, who is a high draft pick, bounced around
a little bit in her WNBA career, found yourself outside
looking in after you know, roster cut day at the
(36:27):
beginning of the season, came in when Caitlin Clark got hurt,
played so well that she earned the rest of the
season contract, and then unfortunately, just the way the season
is gone, the player who was brought in for an
injury then herself had a season ending injury. She's a
remarkable story that unfortunately had, you know, as far as
(36:47):
sports go, kind of a tragic ending to her season
this year. But Aeriel Powers is probably the player I
would pick there, although honestly, Simms her story's been great too.
You know, she was a high draft pick back in
twenty eleven, so she's a little bit on on the
older side in terms of w NBA age, but she actually,
you know, came in and hit the game winning bucket
(37:08):
against LA, her former team, and it looks like that's
going to be a massive win in terms of receiver
both making the playoffs in LA likely missing. But my
pick would just be Aerial Powers because you know, the
joy and the just exuberance she has brought to this
team I think has been palpable. And then her toughness
as well. She was somebody that had a nice first
(37:31):
four or five years of her career, and this is
just the story of so many w NBA players and
it'll be interesting to watch as you know, the league
expands and rosters expand you know, does this continue to
happen because there's just a lot of really good players
right on the fringe of rosters and aerial powers is
a great example. And just the joy that she has
(37:51):
brought in the understanding of you know, this is kind
of a second shot at her dream has been really
fun to witness. And she's come in and provided a
ton of energy, a ton of toughness. And in that
game against Washington, I mean, she's never really been known
as like a three point shooter, but she had a
couple of massive threes in the fourth quarter that I
(38:13):
thought kind of put the game away. And this is
a player that not only was on the outside looking in,
but you know, the Fever had made numerous other signings
this year to have other players fill in for hardship players,
and she was, you know, kind of one of the
very last ones. And yet she's making a really big
difference and I expect she'll get you know, significant playoff
(38:34):
minutes once the playoffs comes around, and you know, she's
just kind of the embodiment of really this whole season,
the toughness, the resiliency. I mean, if you would have
said at the beginning of the season that I'd be
talking about aerial powers, Odyssey Sims and Aery McDonald here
in an interview with you guys, I mean I would
have thought, I, you know, went to a different planet
(38:55):
or different dimension or something. It's just so hard to believe.
But here we are, and all those players are are
making a significant difference.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Let's go down that road a little bit further, Pat,
because it's crazy to me, and maybe it's the front office,
maybe it's Stephanie, the coaching staff, whatever, whoever they've brought in,
they haven't missed. That's been crazy to me that the
players keep going down and we talk about the resilience,
but the new players they brought in, all the folks
you just talked about, they really haven't missed. How crazy
(39:25):
is that? Why is that happening?
Speaker 8 (39:26):
Yeah, you know, it's just an incredible job, I think.
And you know it starts with Kelly cross Cooffs and
the Ambercox and those two are the decision makers. And
Kelly cross Cooff was the decision maker. By the way,
you want to talk about somebody who has some foresight
to draft Tamika Catchings on a torn acl in one
of the very formative years of the franchise, when she
(39:47):
was not even available to play in the first year.
I mean, you think about that and say, we're going
to draft a player with a top selection third overall
that can't even play this year when you're a you know,
an upstart ex and franchise, and that move obviously pay dividend.
So here is Kelly, you know, twenty plus years later,
(40:08):
making you know, these pivotal decisions. And I think it's
I think it's understanding not just the type of player
you need, but the type of person and the type
of person who's going to come in and buy into
the team mindset. And that's that sounds easy, but it's
really really difficult because so many of these players, you know,
they're dying to be in the WNBA, They're dying to
(40:28):
show not just the Fever but other teams in the
future if it doesn't end up working out long term
with Indiana, that they are capable of being on a roster.
And when that's the case, so often that type of
player tries to do too much. Frankly, tries to show,
you know that they're capable to other teams, but that's
not always what's in the best interest of the team.
(40:50):
And so those two things can be a very difficult
thing to find somebody who's who's both capable on the court,
but is going to fit into what you're doing, and
oftentimes is the case. You know, with players like this,
you're not asking them to come in and be a superstar.
You're asking them to come in and maybe play eight
minutes a game and do all the little things. And
(41:10):
so I think identifying those type of players that fit
what you need and kind of fit the style and
the mantra of Stephanie White's twenty twenty five Indiana Fever,
I mean that that, to me, has just been such
a massive storyline in this train not derailing. I think
so many teams in so many sports that have this
(41:31):
many significant injuries, that train's been on the off of
the tracks a long time ago, and not only has
that not happened here, but you know, the Fever have
been able to excel despite all of these things and
have a better record than last year. And again they
need Caitlin Clark fact Bay picture. They absolutely do. I
don't want to do anything to suggest, you know, that
(41:52):
they are having more success without her, because that's not
the case. It is just unquestionably and arguably correct that
the Fever need her to be healthy for the future
of this franchise to you know, win championships. But right now,
in this tough scenario, I can't imagine handling it any
better than the Fever.
Speaker 5 (42:10):
Are Pat boiling again joining us on the Paylott Slickers Hotline,
the play voice of the Fever. Pat, we have playoff
Fever Basketball for the second straight year, but unlike last year,
there will be a Fever home game this time around,
at least guaranteed. What can you tell us about the
potential seating still up for grabs right now ahead of
(42:31):
the regular season finale tonight and also just the excitement
around this group to get into the dance.
Speaker 8 (42:36):
Yeah, and that's a big point that you just made,
which is the way the playoff format worked last year
and for the past few years, is they were trying
to cut down on travel. It was probably a cost
saving measure, but the first round series they were really
unfair in my opinion, because if you were in the
Fever spot where you weren't a top four seed and
(42:57):
didn't have home court advantage. First of all, it's best
of three, so that's a difference from the NBA, and
maybe people that have followed the NBA for a long
time and are just starting to follow the WNB more closely,
that's a big difference. So first, the two wins, the
series go very very quickly. But the way it used
to work was last year, as an example, the Fever
(43:17):
went to Connecticut. Connecticut was the higher seeded, the better
seeded team, and the first two games of the series
were there and the only way the Fever got to
play a home playoff game was if they won one
of those two, then game three, oddly enough, the do
or die game would have been in Indianapolis. Well, they
have done away with that, and I think it was
vital that they did, because frankly, it was really unfair
(43:40):
across the board. And now you're in a situation where
it's more standard. It's best of three. The Fever will
go on the road for game one, they'll come back
for Game two, and they'll guarantee themselves a home playoff
game with a chance to force that do or die
Game three. In this scenario. So the Fever are either
going to be six or seven to be sick. They've
(44:00):
got to win tonight and then Golden State has to
lose out and they will very likely play either Atlanta
or Vegas outside chance of Phoenix, but either Atlanta or Vegas.
And you know, when you're in this situation, you're going
to be playing somebody very good, and you're not going
to have home court advantage and you don't have Caitlin Clark,
so there will be a lot of challenges once the
playoffs come around. But you know, the opportunity to have
(44:23):
that home playoff game I think is massive because it
guarantees you a scenario of win your home game and
then you'll be in a position to have it for
die game at minimum to move on to the second
round of the playoffs. And so you know, if it's Vegas,
that's the hottest team in the league by far, they
haven't lost since early August. If it is Atlanta, you know,
(44:47):
I think one of the other.
Speaker 2 (44:48):
Great stories in the WNBA.
Speaker 8 (44:49):
This is a team Atlanta that just barely got into
the playoffs last year and might end up with the
two seed this year. So they'll play somebody good. They'll
play somebody with a lot of talent. They'll you know,
it'll be certainly a challenge. But I'm very, very glad
the leak has fixed this issue that they had with
home court advantage and the way they were handling the
home court situation in the playoffs, because it is a
lot more fair and just for a team in the
(45:11):
Fevers position here in twenty twenty five than in the
Fever's position just a year ago in twenty twenty four.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
Pat, always good to have you on the morning show
at any time. We appreciate that, and we'll let Kevin
get you on at seven forty five one of these
mornings and we'll be good to go.
Speaker 8 (45:26):
Yeah, maybe maybe we'll do a seven thirty.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
Hey you, Pat, How far away are we from Pacer
showing up?
Speaker 8 (45:32):
By the way, Yeah, late September. I think we can't begin.
That has been just a mind warp because when you
play till late June, to me, it feels like there
should be like three months until the season starts, and
you look down it's like, oh no, there's preseason basketball
here in a month. That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
How did I see before we let you go?
Speaker 3 (45:49):
Did I see Aaron E. Smith had some guys down
to the I think it was the Charleston area, look
like some of the wing players, Matheren Furfey Shepherd, some
of those guys down there Jars Walker for a little
offseason get together.
Speaker 8 (46:01):
Yeah, I saw that too, and probably nothing more than
you've seen just on social media. I actually saw the
first photo with those guys doing some workouts in the sand,
and I was like, what's going on here? And then
and then kind of saw the full encapsulation of it.
I think the Pacers maybe even themselves did a post
on it. So yeah, last year, you know, Pascal Siakam
brought everybody together and I think that was kind of
(46:22):
a big moment as a galvanization type thing for this
team in the off season and ultimately the run they
ended up having. So you know, I think, you know,
the Pacers are not the only team doing stuff like this,
but I think it's really good for chemistry building at
this point in the year. And obviously it's going to
be a challenge without Tyree Taliburton this year, so the
chemistry is going to have to be on point, and
(46:43):
hopefully this is something that helps with that.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
All right, buddy, we'll talk to you soon. Thank you,
Thank you.
Speaker 8 (46:47):
Guys.
Speaker 1 (46:50):
Well, well you were listening to a fan more show
on sports radio.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
Marcause you know better than anyone, no good deed goes unpunished.
Speaker 6 (47:10):
Second, and we are throwing that right out the window.
Speaker 2 (47:14):
We have questions.
Speaker 6 (47:15):
We are throwing it right out the bright.
Speaker 2 (47:16):
Do you want me to set the story the state?
Speaker 3 (47:19):
Have so many questions.
Speaker 2 (47:20):
Every couple of years, Marion University hosts the National Collegiate
Cycling Championships. They are a powerhouse. The school that I
happen to attend in college is also a cycling powerhouse.
I happen to know and I'm friends with the coach
of said team.
Speaker 5 (47:36):
From this context was not given us when when the
story originally but go ahead.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
So we often that they always send a large contingent
to folks, I don't know, eight to ten writers on
each side, the male and female side. They'll get an
airbnb for either the men or the women, and then
whoever they don't get the airbnb for our house, we
host the other side. So last time we hosted the men.
(48:01):
This time, for whatever reason, the coach makes the decisions.
He's decided that the women will stay at our house.
We have some space, we have an extra room. We've
got all kinds of pull out beds and couches and
things like that, and it just works out we can
host that many people, So we do. I said offhand
during the break, I said, Man, when I go home
to night and I get that, there was no context
(48:22):
for you guys. My house is going to be full
of like a dozen college women getting ready for the
cycling national championships. And you were like, wait, what that
would never happened in my house?
Speaker 5 (48:33):
You said, oh no, my parents in my would absolutely
veto that. They wouldn't even offer the university. We paid
all this money for you go to school. They'd better
figure it out.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
But the funniest part about this is that I just
can't step thinking about your high school age son.
Speaker 7 (48:46):
I know they're gonna have that time of their lives.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
Got very Jake is not happy that he's given his
room up at all.
Speaker 6 (48:52):
Well, he didn't give it up. You gave it up choice.
The wildest thing is might things, Yeah, you said, do.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
Not put that in my son's head? Hey, what you mean? No?
Speaker 6 (49:03):
No, no, if the wildest thing is you have a
dozen people sting for how long at your house? Probably
five days, five days for a dozen strangers. Provide there
how many how many bathrooms does this? Here's a mansion,
they will spend other than just sleeping there.
Speaker 2 (49:19):
They're pretty much at the track most of the time.
Speaker 7 (49:22):
But they're pretty much going to be at your house
the other time.
Speaker 2 (49:24):
In the evenings of sleep go to bed.
Speaker 7 (49:26):
Yeah, and route Love Island from his house.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
Oh, there's they got. They're on their minds, are on
the spot. There the water bill.
Speaker 6 (49:40):
I can't even imagine.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
I'll tell you this well, I've gotten no some of
these kids over the years. They're young adults, is what
they are. Some of the coolest people have met.
Speaker 8 (49:48):
Man.
Speaker 6 (49:48):
Just I don't care how cool they are playing in
my house for five days.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
Get the hell out of.
Speaker 7 (49:53):
My only question you do have the lawyer wife.
Speaker 2 (49:55):
How many baths game?
Speaker 5 (49:57):
Do they have to sign something from the university because
I feel like there has to be some stipul I
don't know. It sounds like an AU trip, but that's
not AU.
Speaker 2 (50:05):
No, it's very Look, it's very machine like. They come in,
they do their work, they they cook their own meals,
they they get their own food. They're at the track.
Speaker 7 (50:13):
Moment, cabinet, this is this is getting better?
Speaker 2 (50:16):
They're good man.
Speaker 6 (50:17):
It's fun, right a nutmeg, Jeff, go run to the store.
Speaker 10 (50:20):
This is record. What are the cream where's the creamer
for the coffee? The cures broken, the toilets overflowing. It's
it's a way to give back to your university for
two years. I think I much rather prefer to be
a hotel.
Speaker 3 (50:35):
I fire them.
Speaker 5 (50:36):
I wonder how you get to choose men or women?
Like do you flip a coin? I will tell you
on the west side of Carmel.
Speaker 2 (50:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (50:44):
I mean you do you have the better draw? You
got the girls because they're usually cleaner than they.
Speaker 2 (50:48):
Really enjoyed meeting those young men a couple of years.
They were terrific kids.
Speaker 6 (50:52):
I just that is insanity.
Speaker 5 (50:53):
And then, so how is this set up for your
sons because they have to share one room in the backyard.
Speaker 2 (50:59):
They say they each other their own room, but they
got a share room this week.
Speaker 7 (51:02):
And they're bunking.
Speaker 6 (51:03):
Yeah, how many bets? I don't understand where it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
Well, I mean question Kevin Bowen.
Speaker 7 (51:12):
I'd be trying to borrow somewhere else.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
They're not so big that they've outgrown physically the bunk
beds that we used to have, So that's what will
be going on there.
Speaker 7 (51:20):
So they haven't outgrown the bunk beds from their childhood.
Speaker 2 (51:22):
Well there's big they're bordering there, but they're not quite
there yet.
Speaker 6 (51:26):
For one more Sally.
Speaker 2 (51:27):
Oh my, I'm saying, you know what, Leave it to you, guys,
it's going to be totally funny.
Speaker 7 (51:34):
Embrace the moment and exciting.
Speaker 5 (51:36):
And you're like, man, brother, especially what pops you got
to get up early in the morning to come to
the show. Oh, that'd be when I'd be stepping out
of my room, you know, just perusing, Hey, what's going on?
Speaker 7 (51:46):
How was your day?
Speaker 6 (51:47):
I'll be sitting down. It'd be very friendly.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
So you can't decide whether you like it or you
don't like.
Speaker 5 (51:53):
I would hate the room set up. Bunking with my
older brother just sounds miserable. But if my trade off
is I get to meet a bunch of young I'm
in and asking about college life might be a good
life for me.
Speaker 2 (52:03):
WHOA I know, Kevin Bowen, is you really silent over
here on the left about the whole thing?
Speaker 3 (52:09):
It sounds horrific to Meay it was, It was terrific.
That sounds this time, we've done it the first two week.
Speaker 6 (52:16):
How many people are in your house currently without before
the Bakers doesn't come.
Speaker 3 (52:19):
How many?
Speaker 6 (52:19):
Hell currently five seventeen.
Speaker 2 (52:22):
People like team unless you know what, unless you bought
Jim Merces estate.
Speaker 7 (52:29):
It sounds like Jeff is doing pretty well.
Speaker 2 (52:30):
All these rooms you got.
Speaker 6 (52:31):
I know, I need, I need, I need this pillow address.
Speaker 3 (52:34):
I'm literally losing hair thinking about how we're going to
walk on a third child's coming.
Speaker 2 (52:40):
By the way, we have a date.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
On the nineteen twenty eight. So yeah, that's where my
stress level is. I'm just trying to make sure did
I tighten the screws on that little trampoline for Max
Bowen for tonight?
Speaker 6 (52:50):
Kevin and I are sweating over windows cost and Jeff's like, hey,
the whole football team's coming over for a week and
a half.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
Are they staying for the Broncos game or the Broncos
fan as well?
Speaker 2 (53:00):
I think that has been brought up in some text messages. Yeah,
they're gonna watch them.
Speaker 6 (53:05):
Somebody bring the seven layer dip. Okay, So this is
my last requestion.
Speaker 5 (53:09):
Van you please, please please can you get a picture
with you just sitting in the middle of everybody.
Speaker 7 (53:14):
Sure, yes, yes, sure, yes, this is.
Speaker 5 (53:17):
Going to be like him on like The Bachelor or something,
the Golden Bachelor.
Speaker 2 (53:22):
And I'm generally team Marion except for this week. Okay, okay,
so anything else before we move on to that.
Speaker 7 (53:31):
Is the I love that story. Thank you for starting
what They arrived today?
Speaker 2 (53:35):
Yeah, this afternoon, this evening, He'll be.
Speaker 6 (53:38):
See how tired he is tomorrow when he's like I
was climbing over multiple people to get to my multiple
sleeping bags.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
See. The downside for me is oftentimes, if I'm really
tired and I don't want to be bothered by anybody
else and they've got to get up at four thirty
or five in the morning, I'll just go to the
basement and go to one of the three people.
Speaker 3 (53:57):
Good look, Yet I can't do that there Seven.
Speaker 5 (54:00):
Minutes in Heaven, shouts to Huja ninety seven on our
YouTube chat. He says, Jeff's sons are going to be
in Heaven.
Speaker 3 (54:07):
You imagine how great of friends they're gonna have a
high school.
Speaker 6 (54:10):
Oh my gosh, can you believe what my dad did? Yes,
I need to I need a toilet paper roll count
of how many you go through in this week alone.
I'm guessing you go to Costco. I want to guess
how many like flat arms are being brought into your house.
Speaker 2 (54:21):
As I said Morning Show, no good deed goes unpunished here.
Speaker 7 (54:24):
Oh it's a great.
Speaker 6 (54:25):
Deed, boy, God bless your electric bill.
Speaker 2 (54:27):
All right, quick time out, and Mark needs to get
not only did he have to exercise his bear's demons
this morning, but now apparently he's got exercises fantasy football
demons from our leagues, our league, our show league. Here, right,
we'll do that next, and we'll talk about some injuries.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
Nine
