Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good Friday morning. I hope you're getting ready for a
big weekend here and welcome into the Fan Morning Show.
James Boyd Kevin Bowen, fresh off spending all day long.
I saw both you guys out there at Colts camp yesterday,
the final day up at Grand Park joint practices with
the Green Bay Packers, and I think we were all
leaving after yesterday thinking there's still no answer at quarterback

(00:21):
for the Colts, and even a bigger question at this
point in time, now that we're getting ready for the
second preseason game. I'll ask you first, Kevin, do they
have a quarterback? Like the quarterback that's on the roster
now is the starting quarterback next.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Year as in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Yeah, because I don't see that either guy is really
a quarterback after watching yesterday, I don't know, maybe that's
too harsh, well, but I mean, at some point, when
do you continue to make strides forward? We saw Daniel
Jones being Daniel Jones yesterday. To your point in your
article that you wrote in The Athletic, James, even his

(01:00):
former teammates that are now in the Packers are like
telling him just start throwing the ball downfield.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Dude, just start try.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Kevin, I talked to you yesterday and then I kind
of you confirmed what I was seeing Tim Guy opening
a question. I was just like, hey, what do you think?
And you're just like Dinkin and Duncan's not gonna win
in the National Football League.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, I guess I would start here if I could
maybe put quarterback just to the backburner for a second.
I thought the entire offensive operation was an abomination yesterday,
and honestly, I think it started with the group that
you're supposed to feel the best about, and that's the
offensive line. Two p words, penalties and protection. That was

(01:42):
clear issues yesterday there and then obviously off of that, Yes,
your quarterbacks certainly look like I don't know, that was
probably the worst they've been all camp. The Richardson experience
probably a little bit like in game. Yes, you have
the great highlight at the end, but nine of twenty
with an interception, you know, it's like, oh boy. And

(02:03):
Daniel Jones I thought he had his one of the
more struggling days, especially with that late pick there. So yeah,
the offense just they say save your best for last,
and that was probably their worst.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
So here's the thing. Look, Mark and I were talking
about this before the show started. Anthony Richardson is young.
You're hoping that he takes a step forward. You know,
he's He's still hadn't played an entire season worth of
games when it comes to starting quarterback in the NFL.
Until you have a slight glimmer of hope there, I
still say he's your starter, because I certainly didn't see anything.

(02:35):
I guess I'd rather have the guy that can make
some big plays at some point in time, because Daniel
Jones doesn't even seem like he's interested in making big
plays sometimes. Am I missing it.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
There, James, I don't know. I mean that is the
knock on Daniel Jones is that he is a conservative passer,
conservative player. Now, I do wonder how much of that
was just because of the scheme and also the lack
of personnel and talent around him in New York. I
will say I think that Indianapolis is a better infrastructure

(03:07):
around him. But beyond that narrative, I think to Kevin's
point from yesterday, even in my article when I was
talking about Xavier McKinney, by the way, as the player
that Jeff was referencing that was kind of trolling Daniel
Jones and telling him throw the ball down the field.
They played together for four years in New York, and
obviously Xavier McKinney was the first team All Pro last year.

(03:28):
He was actually not practicing yesterday due to a calf injury.
But him saying throw the ball down the field was
just him trolling Daniel Jones because he knew one that's
not really his nature, and two he had no time.
And that's what Kevin I think, really alluded to because
even though Daniel Jones I think he was I think
I had him thirteen of sixteen Kevin or something in

(03:50):
that range and team drills, half of those passes that
he completed were probably sacks in real games. And then
even when he di complete passes, they were going nowhere really.
So it was a rough day and we can get
into a lot more obviously when it comes to the
injury front. There was a notable injury yesterday to a
key Colts player, and then on top of that, I

(04:12):
just think that it was, as Kevin said, a rough
day offensively overall.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
James, there are times where I think the joint practice
are beneficial for us because our eyes are trained to
watch the Colts. We now have watched them for whatever
thirteen straight practices, and so one thing I do enjoy
about the joint practices is not just oh wowow to
lots is also cooking green Bay offensive linemen like oh yeah,

(04:36):
that's a good thing, or you know again, you know
the reverse of it. The Colts are struggling against green
Bay's defense. I find it beneficial, but I also enjoy
getting the perspective of the other teams beat reporters and
like they're watching the Colts for the first time. We're
watching green Bay for the first time. And one of
the green Bay riders said afterwards, the Colts offense is

(05:00):
a joke. It's putrid. So like I find it okay,
we watched this offense every single day. Let's hear a
different perspective someone that watches a good offense. Theoretically with
Jordan Love, like yesterday, I thought the Colts defense walked
into there needing to be the better unit, and they
wore the better unit against Malik Willis. But that just

(05:21):
kind of summed up the whole day for me, and
that red zone period, James, I forget the final count.
I want to say it was north of twenty plays.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
I think I had it at twenty four plays between
both quarterbacks. I want to say it might have been
a dead even split or close to it. And they
had one touchdown from fifteen yards in it.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
All in the red zone. Yeah, I mean all even
closer than the red zone there. So yeah, I mean
to sum it up, it was a very rough day
offensively in multiple areas. I want to stress that multiple areas.
And defensively I thought a lot too. Started practice with
a sack, ended it with a sack again. They walked
in there with the upper hand considering no Jordan Love

(05:59):
and where Green Bay is a white out wise, but
you know what, the culture missing a ton corners as well,
and I thought they had a really nice day. And
we'll get to that injury. And also I'm a little
nervous if this kicker thing is back on.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah, I saw you did a nice video recap of
practice yesterday too. I saw when I got home both
of them hit sixty plus yarders, which is good. That's mark.
Can we have a ding on that one right there? Correct?

Speaker 3 (06:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Like that, Both of them were good from less right
more than sixty. But then there was also a problem
from under forty died right.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
From thirty three, which of course is the extra point
distance there. So James, I think he's built up enough
goodwill that that isn't, you know, the most alarming thing
in the world. But if he were to miss one
or two in the game, I guess on Saturday, if
a boy the quarterback competition stretching into the back half
of August, it is enough for me. I don't think

(06:53):
I can handle the kicker competition stretching into the back
half of August either.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Yeah. I was thinking, honestly, could anybody on this team
ever make it easy? Just make the kick? Because when
he missed from thirty three, I was like, what are
you doing? And he made him sixty three, and I
was like, well, what a second. You know, I want
to rethink what I was just thinking, you know, thirty
seconds ago. However, the kicking game in practice is similar
to how I view quarterbacking because no one is rushing you.

(07:19):
I find that always kind of funny with the kicks,
like no one's going to contest and block it, so
obviously you want to make them in those settings, and
obviously from thirty three you definitely want to make it,
But I do wonder in a real game what does
that mean for either kicker?

Speaker 1 (07:32):
So let me ask you both this question. It's fresh,
we were out there, we were watching that yesterday. Are
we making too much out of one two hour sample size?
Or is this more indicative of a larger problem that
just keeps continuing to surface?

Speaker 2 (07:50):
In fact, I think it's a good question. I think
anytime you have these moments during camp, that's a question
that needs to be asked. And James, you were in
Baltimore last week, bil like this. Honestly it was a
one to eighty. Ye you know, the Colts offense had
a really productive day. Now, I think anytime stuff happens
in training camp, I always try to remind myself, all right,
where's the context around it, where's past precedent? And with

(08:16):
this offensive operation, past president would lead you to think
that days like yesterday are more indicative of who they are.
But again, against Baltimore they were pretty good. So you know,
right now we're what three of the bigger evaluation periods
into this. We'll have one more coming up tomorrow. We'll
have one a week from Saturday. Baltimore. Seemingly, if you

(08:37):
just want to summarize it very shortly. Good day for
the offense, joint practice, the game not good, and then
yesterday not good. So two not good, one good so far. Again,
we only have three of these that we've watched. And
if you're going to tell me that the Cults are
going to go play football this year and the offense
is going to operate at a level of every third

(08:57):
game one is good and two's bad, I'd probably say, Yeah,
that wouldn't be the most shocking thing. I come back
to that offensive line like that. This offense is not
potent enough to have penalty and or protection issues. They're
just not. This is not some high flying, greatest show

(09:17):
on turf that can live in second and fifteen. And
when you have the amount of issues they did yesterday
in those areas, it's just an absolute recipe for disaster.
So start there if you can clean up some of
that stuff from And again, penalties were a huge issue
in the Baltimore game. They had over one hundred yards
of penalties in that Baltimore game. So that is I

(09:39):
think you probably look at two ways. One is, those
are areas you have been good in, so maybe they
are the anomaly. But if they're not the anomaly. Then
all of a sudden, this offensive operation I think is
a bigger worry than any of us thought.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
I will talk about this with you guys all day long,
and you'd feel free to get ahold of us on
the fan text line at two nine ten seventy, you
can call us up two three nine ten seventy. Pacer
schedule is released yesterday. We'll be talking about that quite
a bit. The fever back on the court later on tonight.
Got that going on. The Colt's getting ready to actually
play a preseason game with the Packers after joint practices

(10:15):
yesterday with the offense not so much. Uh, And Mark,
you're get in love already on the text line this morning.
I've seen that.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
I'm responding right now.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Yeah, I said, good morning, guys to Coda from Orlando, Florida,
checking in after a long graveyard shift. Always loved listening
to the show after working all night. Question, who's the
greatest producer of all time? Medie Kanye West, Nope, get
me Mark Dyton. How about that right out of the.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Game, Jeff, look over there, Mark has got four phones
over there. I mean that is unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
He's got a burner. He's got more than Jason Bourd.
Do you guys see the teas from Mark.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Dykon right now?

Speaker 1 (10:52):
I do not see the tees.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Unbelievable about that, Mark Dyton? What is behind your left shoulder?

Speaker 1 (10:58):
I can't see it.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
I don't know. Oh the Blue Power aid.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
He put it solely in your line of sight? Did
you notice that? Over he put it in your line
of sight.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Like we're going on our first date and he wore
something that you know he probably shouldn't have worn walking
out of the house, Mark Dyke, And what a tease?

Speaker 4 (11:18):
Right I'm dangling the carrot in front of you. You're
you got some good takes.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
I can see the temperature of it and it looks cold,
ye frosty.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
You know he put it only you, only only Kevin
could see it. Do you notice that?

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Just hey, he knows what he likes?

Speaker 1 (11:36):
All right? Show continues a moment. We got a lot
for you this morning, stay with us ninety three five
and went seven to five of the fan.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Good morning.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
If you missed it yesterday, the Indiana Pacers had had
their schedule release yesterday, along with most other teams in
the NBA. There are nine James Boyd nine nationally televised
games for the Pacers, even without Tyrese Haliburton and Myles
Turner this year.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
I have to go back and look, but I'm not
sure if the Miles Turner return is and it is
avised game, but I will be it will be naturally
televis for me because I will find a way to
watch that game. We'll be there in person. Monday, November third,
Miles Turner returns to booze that Gamers shield House.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Yeah, it's a pretty very schedule. The only team they
played twice on national TV, Kevin, would be the Boston Celtics.

Speaker 5 (12:23):
Nine nine.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
I did see. Of those nine, four are on the
old Peacock Action, So the Cocker gets four of the
nine games, and I believe all of those are at home.
So for our you know, people that love to a
ten Pacer games but don't love to stream, you get
the benefit of that little if you're front loaded. For
my liking, I was kind of hope it'd be flipped there.

(12:48):
But you know, you got your usuals. You got the
Big Disney on ice, so they're out on a long
road trip in January. You've got big ten women's tournament
in early March, so that is a West Coast trip there.
And yet you mentioned or Celtics. Remember the Celtics didn't
get on Christmas either with Jason Tatum situation. Yeah, so,
but the NBA put them the next day, So December
twenty sixth. You don't get Christmas, but you get whatever

(13:11):
Colon's or whatever starts the day after Christmas.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
You get that. If you're right. In some households, Christmas
just lasts like ten days. Well, it's just all the time.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Well, it's one thing I did kind of nerd out
over the West Coast games.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
You know.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Again, you get one time with Cooper Flag, one time
with Lebron Luca Steph. I looked at that. I don't
believe any of those are Western teams on a back
to back. You know, so many people are freaking out over,
oh my gosh, this Steff gonna play? Is he not
gonna play? So that's good news with your schedule, Victor
webin Yama included.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
In that, all right. Also to your point, James, the
Milwaukee game the first time they come here early in
the season. It'll be the third of November, seven pm
on a Monday night for the return of Miles Turner.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Do we like a Monday's gonna be a Friday night
basketball pulling up? I got to be there. I have
to see this to see this. For two reasons. It's
either the Pacers win and you get to talk crazy
to them on their way out, or the bus come
in and tell y'all you know what, Yeah, you ain't
got your best player, but take this al So, I
just love the animosity that they will be brewing.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
You think Turner should just Turner block it up for
that game? You know, I'll get the Turners block is
going to be interesting that night. Twenty or thirty diehard
Miles Turner fans and all of a sudden turn into
the little student section for himself.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
We need to hear from I know, no, I need
like the heel turn mark style where they they pretend
to have the Miles Turner you know block return, rip
off the bucks and then yeah and then.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
Then they go then they go nuts and be like,
you know, forget you do the John Cena heel turn
where you look like your friends, give a hug and
then right square in the in the nuts, right right there.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
That's what we need.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
That's what happens on a Saturday afternoon in your household
when you guys are doing ww.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
Reason why we're stopping at three?

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Oh my goodness. All right, So that's what's going on
with the Pacers. As far as the Indianapolis Colts will
start with you, Kevin Bowen, you are not impressed by
the effort. Maybe the effort, but the results yesterday against
the green Bay Packers and joint practices.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Execution offensively lacking to say the least. Yes, now, I thought, defensively,
they did a really nice job. Man again, allow to
a lot too against a healthy green Bay offensive line
started practice with a sack and ended it with it
as well. They benefited from Malik Willis's life. But still
good day for the defense. But yes, offensive operation as
a whole ugly, ugly, ugly And James Boyd I thought,

(15:29):
what kind of summed up the day and put a
sour taste to it was one Josh Downs reaching back
for that hamstring there late in practice, eventually walked inside
with the member of the athletic training staff.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
Yeah, he knew he was hurt immediately. I was standing
right there on the sideline when he came off. And
so it looked like he was getting his left hamstring evaluated.
But as we know, once you started pulling out the hamstering,
your day is over. And now my question is will
you be available for week one?

Speaker 2 (15:54):
So what is that three weeks from Sunday? Is that
where we're at?

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Pretty much so?

Speaker 1 (15:59):
And we see it was a little tweak.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Hamstring injuries can be in the multi week area. And
remember he missed last year week one and two and
what happened in week one and two?

Speaker 3 (16:09):
They did not look good in weeks one and two
lost loss.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
So I think Josh Downs is a critical piece now
Anthony Gould. I do think here in year two can
kind of would be the guy to step up into
that role. But still it would be a disservice to
Josh Downs if he acted like that's just a seamless
passing of the torch.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
Nick Nick asks in the text line, He's that are
we really considering Amazon and Peacock games nationally telephised? Technically
they're nationally available, Maybe that's the terminology we need.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
Yeah, that is a good point. I did see that,
and I was like, Wow, I'm gonna it's getting like
the NFL where you're gonna have to have channels in
platforms to watch all the games.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
To next point, I believe it's just one ESPN, four
Peacock and four Prime. And if you look at the
NBA calendar now it's kind of like a Yes, you
have your ESPN and ABC's, but it's like the start
of the week Peacock, the end of the week Prime.
If you if you stream out there, that's what you.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
So my question is I believe the Peacock. Does that
mean it still gets shown on NBC because that's how
like a simyl cast. Yeah, that's how the NFL does
their games on Peacock. You can still get it on I.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Don't think locally. Yes, that is true, like every stream
game I mean locally shows up local.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
So hopefully that is the case.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Boy, that that is a good question.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Does that mean that even like I believe the local
affiliate has the option to case if the Fever do that.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
Right, don't they do? Like Amazon Prime games A on WTHL.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Yes, exactly.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Is that going to be the case where the games
are still gonna be It will be on Bally's and
I don't know that we will.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Get Chris denaryon Nice and Early for you all next
week to answer a lot of these.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Questions up every day. I'm sure all right, moving on,
We've got the fever back at home. Tonight they will
take on the Washington Mystics this evening. Still Lokatelyn Clark,
but they're trying to bounce back and get back on
the winning track after something a tough loss to the
Dallas Wings just the other night. You'll hear that one
beginning at the seven point thirty with the tip time
tonight here on ninety through five one oh seven five

(17:55):
the fan. You can hear Eddie Garrison with the fan
pregame show beginning at seven to fifty.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Yeah, I believe that is the twelfth missed game for
Caitlin Clark tonight, But you know, hopefully the team is
in good spirits. It was the State Fair recently and
saw Sophie Cunningham and City Colson was actually out there
as well if there aco injury, and so hopefully the
good vibes from the State Fair carry over to tonight.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
Sidney Coulson, I cannot imagine Aready out there crutching it
up at the State Fair in a pen with goats,
and I.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Was like, damn good for you, to be honest, though,
she has a great spirit about it. I know, so
I'm not really surprised.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
But speaking of that, did you see Tyres Haliburan throughout
the tweet of feels good to put two shoes on again?

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (18:32):
I need those shoes. Those was Our fights are very nice.
So it's going on sale my rotation.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
All right? Moving on Major League Baseball, Just one game
of interest locally yesterday the Toronto Blue Jays over the
Chicago Cubs mark two to one. Was the score? Toronto
Cubs stink?

Speaker 5 (18:49):
Right now?

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Could I push back on the local interest you said,
just oon game?

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Well, between the Reds Cubs, we like talk about them.
I'll throw in the Cardinals ver once in a while,
the Indian.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
If you call yourself a Reds fan, you're rooting against
the New York Mets right now. I would say that
is of local interest. Thank you to the Atlanta Braves.
That four to three victory is the Reds inch closer
in the wild guard a half game back.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
The Mets are full on collapsing too. I think they've
lost like twelve of their last fourteen or something.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Music the city of New York is doing that right now.

Speaker 4 (19:21):
The Yankees are falling apart, the Mets are falling apart,
and football is about to start in New York City,
so they're often running as usual in the fall.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Here's the tough news, Kevin. Maybe maybe this is the
time to cool them off. But the Reds start a
series with the Brewers tonight. It'll be in Cincinnati. But
the Brewers have won twelve in a row.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Yeah, I'm going to be rooting for your Reds this weekend.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
And you know, say that?

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Can you clip that?

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Say that? I'll glip it.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
I'm going to be rooting for them, but they better
get it done otherwise they're dead to me.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
No jee, thank you, boy in the world.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
Hurt comes or Monday morning if they get on the
struggle bus this weekend?

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Am I allowed to give a nerdy golf shout out?

Speaker 5 (19:57):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (19:59):
Shout out to the great Jacob Modlesky, the Pride of
pebble Brook, the Pride of Garn, A top five athlete
in the history of Hamilton County. He is currently in
the final eight at the US Amateur at the Olympic Club.
If he wins two more matches, this man heads to
the Masters. If he wins three more matches. He's paired
up with Rory McElroy in the Masters coming up in

(20:20):
twenty twenty six. Shout out to Jacob Modleski, is that
in San Francisco, San Francisco beautiful. I was locked in
last night as he beat Paul Chang one up on
He live in Kevin's dream right now. Electric athlete, one
of the best we've ever seen in the state of Indiana.

(20:40):
Here an incredible accomplishment that he is having right now.
It's pretty cool at the Olympic Club, the US Amateur
for those unfamiliar, basically the best I think college high
school golfers in the entire world playing together. The winner
and the runner up both get entries into the.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
Masters, and some of the winners of that have gone
on to have troul amendous professional.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Nickerson winner Tiger Woods one, not one, not two, but
three in a row. Yeah all right, uh more on
Colts Camp yesterday, audience cared about that.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
I think a little more than that. I think local
athletes making a big it's always good.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Skim Milk is like one percent. Wow, Okay, see that
was just you're going to go from two to one.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
That was just clap back because he said something nice
about the rest. That's all that was. Glad.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
I was a move Mark James. It's bad enough. He's
got a burner phone over there from Orlando texting the.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
See yeah, now we see what these says are coming from. Okay, Mark, Kevin,
this blue power it is unopened. It could be yours.
You better play nice today.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
Uh more in a moment on ninety through, Good Friday
morning to you, Welcome into the Fan Morning Show. Colts
had their final joint practice with another team of the
preseason yesterday. They taking on the Green Bay Packers. They
will go up against the Packers in a preseason game
on Saturday afternoon, and we're gonna have lots of traffic

(22:00):
problems and we'll get to that a little bit later on.
But in the meantime, Kevin Bowen, we were talking about
it earlier for those just joining us, it was a
less than stellar performance for the Colts offense at joint
practices yesterday. Am I being kind by saying it that way?

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Perhaps a little?

Speaker 2 (22:17):
And again I'll go back to penalties and protection issues.
I think that was the root of it, particularly early on.
And you know, I think there is a propensity for
a few more flags. There were NFL officials yesterday of practice,
a few more flags to be thrown this time of
year to emphasize some things, particularly illegal formations, something Shane
Stacken was frustrated with post practice. And again, your offense

(22:41):
is just not dynamic, potent, electric enough to overcome fundamental stuff.
And that's what that is. And you've invested way too
much into your offensive line for that to be a problem.
And James, I'm a little unsure how much to make
of it, but I will say a player that I

(23:02):
think has been very reliable throughout his career who I
have a little bit of a question on his training
camp so far, would be right tackle Braden Smith.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
I knew you were going there. I put that in
my story yesterday as well.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
It's not like I don't want to act like everything
offensive line is Tanner Bordolini and Mat Gonzalvez and the
new guys at center and right guard. I mean there
has been Lattu has definitely had his moments with them.
And then I thought yesterday and I don't think I mean,
judging by the Green Bay side of it, it's not
like there and I know you your colleague over there
who is at match what's his name? Yeah, Yeah, Like

(23:39):
it's not like they were acting like the Green Bay
pass rush has been, you know, pin their ears back
and just super disruptive all camp long. So yeah, brain Smith,
that's just one. I don't know, I'm gonna I'm gonna
circle that one for the regular season.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
Yeah, you know what I was, And I think all
of us were saying Latu Latu was having such a
great camp, and I'm not saying he isn't, but I
do question. Now, Okay, you were going up against your
teammate for an extended period of time, so maybe you
just kind of read them a little bit easier than others.
But seeing how the other defensive line on the Green
Bay Packers looked against Brad Smith yesterday, I'm like, Man,

(24:15):
did I overrate you know, Live two's preseason a little
bit just because he's going against Braid and Smith who
struggled I think noticeably yesterday against the Packers. So to
your point, Kevin, I agree, is somebody to keep you know,
an eye on, for sure, And in a way, if
you have questions that three of the offensive line spots,
obviously that becomes a majority of your offensive line and
I don't think that's a good thing. And as we've said,

(24:38):
it's kind of flowing into the radar that they replaced
two starters. And additionally, you know, Bradsmith is going into
a contract year, and so there's a lot to still
be I guess developed or for us to assess going.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
Forward a couple of things. At one point I walked
over to Kevin Bone who was in between the defense
of the Colts was down on the south end the
south field. The offense is working against the Packers on
the north field. Kevin Bowen was smacking between almost like
a tennis match, his head just swiveling back and forth,
back and forth.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
That's how does he break it down? You know?

Speaker 1 (25:10):
And he like he had it, like he was processing everything.
It was perfect. But I had to go and spend
some time down watching the defense. Can I just shout
out one other guy who continues to impress me. He's
got a ways to go, young seventh rounder. But Hunter
Waller made a couple of nice.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
Phes you play there and breaking up a pass, I mean,
his physicality on full display. At one moment he was
chatting with Matt Lafleur and Shane Steike in. I don't
know if that was a little Wisconsin love for the
former Badger there, and yeah, he you know continues really
for the last week or so, he's been a starter
Withodn't that cross still out the other defensive injury to
note from yesterday we mentioned Josh downs Samson Ebcom was

(25:46):
coming back from a torn achilles. He did leave early
with a back injury. So when you think about defensive
ends right now, Quitty pay and him now both sidelined.
I think those two with lots are kind of the
rotation there. A little bit of Taekwon Lewis I would
throw into that mix as well. James, how would you

(26:08):
how would you summarize the day? For one added I'm Mitchell.

Speaker 3 (26:15):
Frustrating and I say that because he looked great in
one on ones you had the play. I believe I
need to go retweet this actually because it was hilarious.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
I got a great video of a great catch that.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
Yeah, so Kevin got the video and I'll encourage you
all to check it out. You know during one of
the commercial breaks where he makes this incredible catch down
the sideline and as Kevin accurately captioned Adie, Mitchell coma
The Showman. He gets up and he's showing the crowd,
he's dancing, and again you just think, Wow, that dude

(26:47):
is so talented. He's so dominant in those settings, and
in the team settings. I thought when there was a
little bit more simulated physicality, he blinked first, and so
he was actually, gosh, that's a great way to put it.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Can you say that again? Did you say simulated physicality? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (27:04):
And I say that because so for example, the two
players I'm alluding to are two players across the middle,
and on one of them, he beats his man, I
mean like a drum and he's coming back to the
football and it's across the middle, and in a real
game you're probably gonna get hit. And this is also
while he's talking trash to their dbs. He's telling them all,
I'm gonna do this and do that. Get your opportunity.

(27:27):
You go out there, you drop the ball and not
only do you drop it, it slips through your hands
and goes straight to the other guy for a pick
and probably would have been the pick six in a
real game. Then you know you got took your tail.
Go back to the huddle. Very next play, Daniel Jones
hits him again in stride and he you know, makes
the catch this time does a football move, so to speak.

(27:48):
And then the Packers' safety reaches in and rakes the
ball out and he fumbles. And now I get it.
It's a it's not a live setting, but at the
same time, in a real game, they're gonna do that.
And the fact that you can hold onto the ball
for a second straight play at least a second straight
tono over that to me it was Ady Mitchell experience.
I was thinking, what's gonna happen on Sunday is when

(28:09):
you actually have to get hit or rake that or
it's not just you know, basically a car show and
everything looks good until you step on the gas.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
Well, I think I think that was so well said.
All of it's. Yeah, you got the full experience at
Grand Park yesterday. If you were looking to see what
Adie Mitchell was, I mean, the one on one stuff,
it is the ooze and oz he creates from the
crowd and creating separation and.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
Obviously catch you got video of it, right, fantastic.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
Obviously that play, I mean that was a just a
horribly under thrown ball by Daniel Jones and ad Mitchell
bails him out and then he I mean, he definitely
is one that plays to the crowd, probably more than
really any other white out I would think on the team.
And then, as James points out, he then has two
massive mistakes and eleven on eleven, I thought the ball

(28:57):
that went off his hands for the interception, I thought
that might have been Daniel Jones's best throw of camp,
Like here's Jones throwing a beautiful arms the target twenty
what was that twenty thirty yards down the field and boom.
It goes from chunk play to turnover. And then later
on in practice you get the final two minute drill
and just to set the scene for it, minute twelve

(29:18):
on o'clock one time out, you got to drive the
length of the field. Anthony Richardson is in there with
the starters eighty. Mitchell is a starter yesterday because Alec
Pierce is still out. They have I think it was
Anthony Gould, Michael Pittman Junior and a beautiful catch by
Tyler Warren Boom, boom boom to.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
Start the drive.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
And then Mitchell draws a huge pass interference penalty like
Green Bay could not guard him yesterday. I mean he
drew several flags and boom, you're at the goal line
right there. So it's just, you know, James used the
word frustrating. I think we've talked about this before with Mitchell.
I don't know if there's a player on the roster
more so than maybe even Richardson that is that talented

(29:58):
and that frustrating, because the thing with Richardson is like,
again in college we yet to really see it. I mean, yeah,
he had the moment against Utah and you know, for
a moment there it's like, oh my gosh, is this
this September Heisman Trophy, Darlene that we seemingly get every
year in college football. You know, Mitchell had touchdowns in

(30:18):
national title games right here a Lucas Ohlo Stadium. He
had touchdowns and big playoff games. So I don't know
there's a player on the roster it's more talented yet
more frustrating than him. And I thought yesterday if you
paid five or ten dollars to show up to practice,
you got the full experience of number ten.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
This is from the text line mark you've verified this right,
Good morning, guys, Chris Ballard. Here should I be worried
about the offensive line play after last night's practice, especially
considering Anthony Richardson's glass body about that, James.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
I would definitely be concerned. I would definitely be concerned
about the offensive line. But yeah, I don't know what
else to say to a comment like that. Just nice
thing Chris is checking in there, or at least someone
pretending right. I was going to say, you have a
relationship with the guy I got I gotta talk to
in real life, So I'll steer clear of that one.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
Uh So we uh will continue to talk about the
Colts in their joint practice with the Green Bay Packers yesterday. Also,
we've got the Indiana Pacers schedule release yesterday, nine nationally
televised games. I guess, depending on how you want to
classify nationally televised, some on Amazon, some on Peacock.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
Nationally available is what I'm rolling by.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
There are a lot of people wondering, does that mean
we're going to get, especially with some of these are
going to get Michael Grady on the call for some
of these Pacers games. That would be cool.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
That would be cool. I'd be full Starting with what
a legend from around here as far as the voices go.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
Well, hell, he did game one of what was it
the Bucks of the Cabs series? One of those two Yeah,
one thing that set out to me again, I kind
of wanted to see a little bit more backloaded. I
think right out of the gate, it's difficult. You start
with Oklahoma City and then you go on a three
game road trip Memphis, Minnesota and Dallas. You know, obviously
we'll see the health for Dallas especially, but you know

(32:10):
that to me is a little difficult. Then you return home.
I think Atlanta is a team a lot of people
are higher on this year. They could be a surprise team.
I think in the East, Uh, Milwaukee, the Turner game
back here in Gaybridge Field House. Again, that is a Monday,
November three. That is certainly one to circle on the counter.

(32:31):
So no Turner's block. Dustin has informed me of this,
and yeah, that makes sense obviously Myles Turner no longer
plays here. Uh what do you guys like here toppings
throng Pascal's pack? Mh boy, not everybody at once?

Speaker 1 (32:57):
That's good.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
They is very good.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
HU heard he's got he got No, you got to
earn something. What do you mean I'm not giving you
nothing until you play he can put on jersey number
thirty three, Miles is gone. I mean he could work
thirty three, but thirty three did a lot more than one.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Like Pascal's Patrons or Pascal's pack Pack better than Patrons.
What do you mean?

Speaker 3 (33:19):
This is not augustin n ashvill where teacher Jacob mod
Levsky might be playing Sandwich Patroons. Sounds like we're like
this boogie state is what we're going with? Anything for TJ?
Nothing Well, TJ's.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
Throng topping throng, I don't know too much sounds too
much like thong I don't I don't care.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
Come on, man, how did you get there? Like McConnell's
whale tail? Like, what are we talking about?

Speaker 2 (33:45):
So we canna, you know, throw out a boat there
for that?

Speaker 3 (33:48):
McConnell's maniacs. How about that?

Speaker 2 (33:50):
In all seriousness, I think you do need to have
something right. You can't just have a stale forty one
night environment without a little terrific Turner's block heroes.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
What's been so fun about that environment that there's so
many different factors that feed into it.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Pascal's glossy Thank you, Brian for.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
You got the drum guys up there in the one
corner you'd had, uh you know Turner's block over there,
and just fun. It's just a great environment to go
watch a basketball game. That's not going to change.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
And now again that's called something different. By the way,
that's not any drum line. That's the high octane drug.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
That's what I'm saying. It's fantastic. Does Halliburton, I know
he's not gonna be playing next year, but when he
comes back, does he get does he get a section?

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Well, I'm taking a one year at a time right now.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
It's Fan Morning showed at ninety three five one oh
seven five the FAM. We were at of Colt's camp
yesterday and got the Pacers release almost simultaneously while we
were out there yesterday. There are nine games that are
said to be televised nationally, although some are on Amazon,
some are on the Peacock.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
I'm laughing at this from when tex Lille he says,
you call it Carlisle's Corner, and I was honestly thinking
that just a bunch of people that sit there and
uh allD ofough signs were like what Carlisle, WI will
respond to us when our questions are not good on
the radio, because I feel like if you hable to
fit a couple of words on there, that he would
tell us. You know, I feel like what we just

(35:12):
had a few days ago when Tuesday was the nicest
Rick Carlo ever, So maybe that would be kind of
funny to me to just see what people would actually
come up with the potential. Rick Carlisle responses that.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Could be neat. You could put Carlisle's corner in one
area of the arena and you can put the other
one somewhere else. It'd be good that any other big
schedule things you saw other James than the Milwaukee Bucks
coming here fairly early on the third of November, as
Miles Turner makes his return, since we're speaking about him.

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Not necessarily, Like I said, that was one of the
bigger games that I was curious about, I am. But
beyond that, you know, you open the season against some
teams that are I think that are looking a lot
different and you know, could be very good. You know,
Oklahoma City is obviously we were familiar with them, and
you got two against Memphis Minnesota, you got you got Atlanta,

(36:01):
like Atlanta's made some changes as well. You got Golden State.
So these first like ten to twelve games, man, Like,
these are not against teams that were, you know, sorry
last year or missing the playoffs or don't have stars.
Every single matchup you're gonna face a dude or multiple
of them. So it'll be interesting to see how they
kind of shake out to start the season. And I'm
sure I'm saying it nice and early. Don't freak out

(36:22):
if it is not, you know, the most amazing Pacers
basketball to start off, and mean, we saw it last
year even with their star players, where they struggled a bit,
then they kind of found their footing. So I would
expect that to kind of be the case early on.
Now we know Carlisle's corner will probably not have any.

Speaker 5 (36:38):
No disrespect to rats.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
How about the Carlisle rat pack probably Yeah, honestly, how
about that might as well Bennan mckmatheren makes a visit
every couple of games. Yeah, James, I would agree to me, Like,
I kind of wanted that flipped. If you look at
the end of the season, I think the end of
the season is a little bit lighter. I was kind
of hoping, you know, a little bit more backloaded on
that front. But again, I'm probably when I speak to this,

(37:02):
I'm probably catering a little bit more to like, Hey,
you might have the young kid.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Who loves whatever Luca or loves.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
You know, Wemby or whoever here. But it looks like
on paper you do benefit from the West Coast teams
not doing the back to back thing here in Indiana.
Steph Curry's loan visit not on a back to back,
Lebron and Luca's loan visit not on a back to
back Web and Yama actually will be here twice. That
is a preseason home game, and of course he's coming

(37:32):
back from injury, so you know, will he play in that?
October thirteenth is a preseason game. You know, Cooper Flag,
Zach Edy, you know some of these again, West Coast teams,
none of these are on a back to back. But Monday,
November third, folks, boy, you better have the Halloween energy
hanging on for a little a little while there because

(37:54):
it's a Monday night for the Miles Turner return game.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
You weren't initially with that when you saw that. You
didn't like the Monday night, did you?

Speaker 2 (38:02):
No, Monday just lacks a little bit of juice.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
Is that too early in the season for you too.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
I don't mind the earliness to it. I just would
have liked that a little Thursday Friday Saturday action there
Colts at Steelers the day before, so I don't know.
Maybe you'll be having a little fan emotional hangover from
the Colts of the Steelers, which I don't think they've
won there in one hundred years. So yeah, that is
one of the earliest games of the season. December twenty third,

(38:30):
the second matchup with Myles Turner, so you'll get both
those home games against the Bucks out of the way.
Terry here Toppins Tomahawk jam section boy, I don't know
if you not have enough signage to get all the
letters in a.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
Lot of lettering, you take up the entire quadrant of
the arena on that middle.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
I like the mimitary? Is that original by one of
you two?

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Here's a good one that was Twitter.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
So to the Pacers Twitter for putting me on that
very early because they were saying in the Eastern Conference
Finals that Jayleen Brunsll was in imitary.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Gosh, that is really good.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
I know that's good. H when he comes back.

Speaker 5 (39:04):
I like this one.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
Hallie's alley.

Speaker 3 (39:06):
That's good.

Speaker 5 (39:07):
I like that one.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Does James Johnson meet you there?

Speaker 2 (39:11):
You know James Johnson is no longer on the team.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
He's got free time. Yeah, you tell him he's not
on the team. Ah, yeah, good point. They're doing a
height in wait.

Speaker 2 (39:21):
Check in the YouTube chat and I just send in
mine six three two twelve six three two twelve. James,
if you looked at that on an NFL roster, wouldn't
you think I was like a legit wide out?

Speaker 3 (39:31):
Yeah, that or like a like a free safety or
something like that.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
And then I walk in the room and you're like, damn,
how underwhelming is that?

Speaker 3 (39:38):
It's not a woman for me? I said, I'm like, wow,
it's like what an athlete. He's a dual sport athlete.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
Like what the tender pictures look like versus what happens
in real life.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
Pridate Cathedral, you're talking about great athletes. A minute ago,
there's twelve here I am.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
So you are here catfishing people, Kevin looking like Hunter
Waller ready to just knock some heads. And then all
of a sudden I walk in the room. You're like,
oh damn, that kid looks like.

Speaker 1 (39:59):
A until we get you on the golf course and
just stripe one two ninety two. I will say, come
on about that. I'm thinking about it. You imagine putting
on like actual pads and the players reactions to it.
I will get laughed out of the building.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
I talked to Anthony, Yes, Franklin Cacklin, by the way,
I meant to ask you all of a sudden, you
and Anthony Richardson that that that one on one was
ten minutes long.

Speaker 5 (40:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
I had some questions, can you tease anything?

Speaker 5 (40:24):
Yeah? What do we know?

Speaker 3 (40:25):
Well, I'll say this, he was very candid about a
few things that I don't think he was as candid
about with a bunch of cameras in his face. So
stay on the lookout for that over the next week
or so. I will have certainly the Anthony Richison exclusive.
That was a couple weeks in the making, but we
made it happen.

Speaker 1 (40:40):
Good deal.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
We do fall on the field off the anys anything,
I will send a morsel here.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
I did ask him about the quotes that we got
from the QB tears about the Anthey Richison experience being
over and him not being an NFL caliber quarterback, and
he had some words and thoughts on that and also
the QB competition, so you know it's friendly competition, but

(41:09):
heavy emphasis on competition. Because good yeah, I think he
he has done and said the right thing along with
Daniel Jones. But he made it very clear. You know,
I'm not here to be QB two, So excited to
get that out there.

Speaker 1 (41:23):
Good tease. Greg Rakestraw stood next to him for quite
a while yesterday talking about colts football and other things.
He's always educational. He's going to stop by and drop
some knowledge on us next as we continue at ninety
three five and one oh seven five the fe Good morning, Mark.
Was the soccer Saturday a happy accident? Or did you
play that one just for our next guest as a
happy accident? But all right, never a bad thing. To

(41:45):
get more Greg Rakestraw on the air, never a bad thing,
and he joins us now in the Payless Liquors hotline.
Good morning, Greg Rakestraw. You will be busy with American
football tomorrow afternoon, will you.

Speaker 5 (41:56):
I've got to day. I've got football and football tomorrow,
so it'll keep me hop.

Speaker 1 (42:00):
I understand that you're going to have a very special
guest into both for a conversation her first one publicly.
I suppose Carlie.

Speaker 5 (42:08):
Erc Gordon will be joining us in the third quarter.
She obviously continue on her father's tradition in many ways,
and one of those is appearing on the television broadcast
in the preseason. So Rick Venturrey and I get the
honor of speaking to the one of the three new
owners of the Colts, but obviously the one that oversees
kind of the day to day business and the football
operation side of things. So Carli will join us in

(42:29):
the third quarter tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
All right, we'll miss our Westfield chats on the sidelines there,
Greg Graagstrow. Of course you will hear him tomorrow at
CBS four, right, Rake, don't we switch over?

Speaker 5 (42:39):
Correct? So the first game was fifty nine. I think
the two Saturday mattinezes are both CBS four.

Speaker 2 (42:44):
Two sentences on what you want to see from Daniel Jones,
how about two on what you want to see from
Anthony Richardson.

Speaker 5 (42:50):
Don't turn the ball over since we saw a little
bit of that from both guys yesterday. Don't get hurt,
I think for both of those guys, you know, for
Anthony Richardson, just again make the right read make the
touch throws for Daniel Jones, Let's see some explosive plays.
You know, it seems like even though there are things

(43:12):
that those guys do from a mobility standpoint that's very
similar kind of what their strong suits are from a
passing standpoint, tend to be the opposites of each other.
So I want to see more of the simple stuff
from Anthony. I want to see more of the potential
big plays from Daniel Jones.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
Rake, when you look at the quarterback competition, do you
envy Shane sticking at all when he says he hasn't
made a decision, Because honestly, I'm starting to think is
he being more honest than I thought before? Because most
coaches say that because they want to hold off. But
you know, what do you think will be the deciding
factor in this QB competition?

Speaker 5 (43:46):
I think how they play tomorrow is a big step
of it. And I think, you know, this could continue
on the next week. Now, do these guys play next Saturday?
I don't know, but I think they. I think this
has been a legitimate competition all the time, and I
think you have seen that and how they have shared
reps in practice, how they have alternated. I'm not chartered

(44:06):
who's gotten more snaps with the ones. I'm sure somebody has.
But this is one of those cases where I take
Shane and his word. I think he is trying to
see as much of the preseason as possible for making
a termination. And frankly, I don't think these two guys
have separated themselves from each other yet, which is why
we have not seen or heard a decision at this

(44:28):
one to whom the starting quarterback is going to Big.

Speaker 3 (44:30):
Well Phil Phil free right tomorrow to ask Carl ERSA.
Gordon who's the starting quarterback? You can, you know, can
attribute that to me, you know, if he wants to
kick you out of booth after that. But in all seriousness,
how much do you look forward to that conversation with her?
Because it's the first time since the I believe, since
their father's passing that they've kind of address She's dressed
the media in a public setting. So I guess how

(44:53):
much do you appreciate that opportunity?

Speaker 5 (44:55):
You know, there was the one press conference within maybe
a couple of weeks after of Jim's passing, and then
this will be next and so I think this is
one of the great things that we do. I'm proud
of the broadcast that we do every August, but to
kind of have this moment to be more of a
conduit to the fans, I think it's I think it's tremendous. Uh.

(45:17):
And so, you know, obviously when it was Jim before
and now Carly going forward. You know, this is something
that you know, I think more owners should do. Other
than Jerry Jones, he should probably speak less, but most
of the rest of them should should probably you know,
do this on a more regular basis. And so I
think it's wonderful that, you know, the family side of

(45:37):
the kind of continue this tradition. Settle Land just a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (45:40):
Oh boy, start in trouble already. Greg Reigstraw on the
Payless Liokerors Hotline right now, you've been watching throughout camp.
Other than the obvious quarterback discussion, what are the things
you're taking out of this?

Speaker 5 (45:55):
You know, the one of the questions that I had
going into yesterday was is the Colt's defensive line you
really getting pretty good at getting to the backfield or
is it more on the Colts offensive line? And I
think we kind of saw a mixed bag of results
of that yesterday, I thought early in the practice sessions,

(46:15):
but the cult offensive line is doing a pretty solid
job kind of as it went along. I think the
performance of the entire Colts offense started the sag a
little bit in terms of you know, ballsby and tip
ballsby and you know, intercepted fumble whatever in terms of
pressure getting back to the quarterback. But that, Jeff, is
kind of what is unique about this, you know about

(46:35):
this spring or this this spring, but preseason is the
fact of other than the mega, super huge, obvious, you know,
quarterback battle in terms of position battles, I'm not sure
other than ones caused by injury, there were that big
of a position battle going into camp, and that's kind

(46:55):
of playing itself out. You know, now we've got shuffling
at wide receiver. But because Alec Pierce has missed this
week and then Josh Downs gets injured yesterday, there is
obviously what's kind of gone through the cornerback position in
terms of juju bretch, Jalen Jones, justin Wally, you know,
Kenny Moore, etc. And all of a sudden a guy

(47:16):
named Jonathan Edwards is getting reps with the ones. There's
be a little bit of discussion at the linebacker spot,
but you know, we almost had Jalen Carliz there as
more of a placeholder than anything else. But now it's
gonna be Joe Botchi and Cam mcgroen that are battling
for the spot to thron opposite next desire Franklin. But
again I thought, I thought going into campus was two

(47:39):
remarkably huge, important and simple questions, who's your quarterback and
already going to be a playoff team, and everything else
was details. And my opinion hasn't changed about that in
the last three and a half weeks.

Speaker 2 (47:50):
He is Greg rag Straw. You're gonna hear him tomorrow
one o'clock. Pacers and Packers, Pacers and Packers and looking
in the pacers schedule, Colts and Packers. Rick Venturrey going
to be in the booth with Rake. I don't know,
maybe it's just you and I being nerds on the
sidelines at Westfield, but I do have a question regarding
the live golf up there in Westfield coming up starting today,

(48:11):
and just in general maybe like the future of pro
golf in Indianapolis. Certainly we've seen one offs at Cricket
Stick and you know, the Brickyard is hosted you know,
Senior Tour and LPGA Tour events, and I'm kind of
always curious what Roger Penske looks at that Brickyard course
and kind of thinks about it moving forward there. You know,
maybe it's another year at Chatham for Live. Maybe there's

(48:33):
a big old project and playing field down the road.
What do you think future pro golf in India? Is
it consistent? Is it one off every five years?

Speaker 5 (48:40):
What do you what do you like? I think I
think it's how this event does. And let's face it,
we know that of all the things that we do
well in this community, the logistics for sporting events tends
to be at the top of that list. And so
I think it's more of a a question the future
of live golf and that clearly there's a limited supply

(49:02):
of cash behind that. But if if live Golf has
a has a solid future and the event this weekend
goes well, which I expect it to, uh, I think
they would come back here on a regular basis. And
obviously for those that kind of follow the sport, there
is very much a scheduling formula for Live and so

(49:24):
they have three events that are scheduled opposite the FedEx playoffs.
Try to take a dent into that and to kind
of play three consecutive weeks, you need three events that
are remotely close to each other. So you at a
Chicago event, you have an Indianapolis event, You're in a
Michigan event, the team Championship that is taking place next
week to kind of wrap up the season.

Speaker 6 (49:47):
And so if you can take away again the.

Speaker 5 (49:51):
Funding source, the idea behind Live Golf and just look
at it from a golf perspective, and some folks can't,
and I respect that. But the reason I bring that
up is that if we have the typical, you know,
slow day sports Dot conversation in Indianapolis and we say, hey,
if there's something from a sports standpoint you would like

(50:12):
to see here in you that we don't have. For
all the great things we have, what do we not have?
You wouldn't get very far into the conversation without saying
pro golf on a regular basis, Well, now here is
an opportunity for that to be the case. So I
think if Live Golf has solid footing, I think all
of a sudden, now having a yearly tour event at

(50:34):
Indianapolis suddenly has solid footing for the first time in
a long time.

Speaker 3 (50:38):
What about the Brickyard Crossing golf course?

Speaker 2 (50:40):
And maybe it's the Bristol and me that's fresh my
mind after Reds and Braves a few weeks ago. But like,
you got four golf holes in the middle of the
Indiapolis Motor Speedway, and yet from a other event standpoint,
we've seen it in the past, but lately nothing really
of significant note here. Do you think there's anything that

(51:00):
Roger Penske wants that golf course to turn into?

Speaker 5 (51:04):
Kevin who just spent money to buy into the Indianapolis
Motor Speedway, the IndyCar Series and IMS productions, Well.

Speaker 2 (51:12):
It's Fox, and I bring that up because doesn't Fox
air some live events?

Speaker 5 (51:16):
And Kevin, where is the home of live golf in
the United States? And what is the one television broadcaster
that the velvety tones of r. Low White mentions on
their broadcast?

Speaker 2 (51:27):
Yeah, yeah, now I got you get you get the
you get.

Speaker 5 (51:29):
The it's it's frankly why I said. After the Speedway Classic,
which obviously was panned for a lot of reasons, my
thought was, listen, if that's gonna happen again, where do
you think that's gonna happen here? And so that that
is what makes now that partnership so tremendous for the speedway. Now,

(51:50):
any of the television partners that Fox has name it
from a non sports standpoint, guess now where a lot
of partnership, sponsorship, activations, events, uh, just general cool things
might happen the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And so if you're saying,
is there a possibility and that's I think it's against

(52:10):
almost said Shatham Tap out of force of of of
of you know, muscle memory Chatham Hills. But could there
be a live golf event at the Brickyard Crossing? Certainly
there could be in terms of what Roger wants to
that course turn into. There has been a very concidered
effort to make that club a little more exclusive and
and frankly raise the cost a little bit to make

(52:32):
it one of you know, in these more exclusive places
to have have a golf event or to play golf. Frankly, uh,
And so I could see potentially live golf being held
because again of the television partnership of these simply stunningly
cool location and visuals that could be at the brickyard
crossing at some point down the road.

Speaker 3 (52:50):
Last one break and we'll get you out of here.
But you know I can't get you on the radio
and not ask about high school football. A week from
today is the season opener. So where will you be
and what games or matchups should we pay attention to?

Speaker 5 (53:05):
Lawrence Central Lawrence North is my game next week since
the second year of the Battle of Lawrence Township has
been the season opening game. Obviously, LN has some pretty
high expectations after being undefeated, going to a region around
and being beaten in the comeback effort by eventual state
champs Brownsburg last year. A couple other games again that
should get your attention. Center Grove and Warrener back on

(53:27):
the schedule and they play in week number one, and
so Carmel and Fishers play each other at Fishers next
week as well. There are a lot of great matchups
in week one and I'm looking forward to being back
on the high school football side of things as up
next Friday night, I'll.

Speaker 3 (53:44):
Be stalking you.

Speaker 5 (53:44):
You do know this.

Speaker 3 (53:45):
I see you when I see you and Kyle Netting
Rip I know I'm right. I'm at the right game.

Speaker 5 (53:50):
That's the rule of thumb. If Kyler are in the
same place, then you're in the right place.

Speaker 3 (53:53):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (53:53):
Hey, last one for me too, Greg, we had you
out at the State Fair. Thank you for doing that
the other day. Filled in for Jake. What was your
favorite food fair at the State Fair this year?

Speaker 5 (54:03):
Very Joey Tribiani deep fried stuff with cheese insert whatever
that deep fried stuff was. I was on more of
a time constraint and so it was going to be
the closest booth next to the grand stand. So I
went with one of my fair staples dating back to
the Lanesville Heritage weekend days as a kid. I went

(54:23):
the euro combo is the way that I went on Wednesday.
I like it and knowing I was going to be
sitting in a grandstand talking for three hours, the largest
coke I could possibly get. That was also the beverage
choice that I had.

Speaker 1 (54:36):
All Right, it's good to know you and Mark there.
You're the go to opinions on food on fair foods.

Speaker 2 (54:41):
I just want to Chatham Tap Beer with you ver
since you said that, rake On Now I'm just picturing
us over on Butler having a beer at the Chatham
Tap you've moved on to Mars power Ade.

Speaker 5 (54:50):
I think they open eleven am. I may be heading
that way at about eleven am.

Speaker 1 (54:53):
Then all right, buddy, we'll talk to you soon. You guys,
you've moved on from the Marks Powerade. You're onto Chatham Tapner.

Speaker 2 (54:59):
Well, I I can dabble, you know, I don't. I'm
not a big beer drinker at eight or nine am
in the morning. I can't recall the last time I've
done that.

Speaker 1 (55:06):
Yeah, I can't caf outing, I can golf outings, get
already day you name it, got.

Speaker 2 (55:13):
Heat stroke, I don't know. The only thing I remember
is my boss just seemingly trying to handcuff me from
opening up that beer.

Speaker 3 (55:20):
I just wanted to make sure you were good to
go for the rest of the show.

Speaker 2 (55:23):
I don't know from and my mom and dad were
chatting with me about some key reminders.

Speaker 1 (55:32):
You're not the one that has to answer to HR, Like,
what are you guys doing in the morning show?

Speaker 2 (55:36):
Yeah, I've been fired before. Nobody will be firing.

Speaker 3 (55:39):
I want you to stick around.

Speaker 1 (55:41):
Nobody's firing anybody. Interesting stuff, though, He's got the same
questions that everybody else out of Grand Park had that
we've got this morning, like who is the quarterback actually
going to be a week one? And I don't know
that we have an answer, and you hear Greg and
everybody else saying no, this has been a legit competition,
but neither one of them is taking it by the throat.

Speaker 3 (56:03):
So do you think if I just like knock on
the door when Carl said Gordon is in there with
Venturi and Greg Regstraw, that I could just peek my
head and he be like, excuse me, by the way,
you know, sorry interrupt Carl. Who do you think should
be starting a bigger TV? Because Shane Styken did say
yesterday that it is ultimately his decision, but he will

(56:25):
go over it with Chris Ballard and Carly James.

Speaker 2 (56:27):
I thought that Anthony Richardson answer yesterday when asked, I
think it was Dominic Miranda from w th RD is
a great job, by the way, Yeah, great dude, shout
out to Greencastle and DePaul. He asked what do you
want to see from yourself Anthony in the preseason game,
and his answer was the exact same answer Chris Ballard
had at the end of last season. What do you

(56:51):
need to see from Anthony in year three and it
is the word of the greatest ability.

Speaker 1 (56:56):
Is what availability?

Speaker 2 (56:58):
And for Anthony to say that, I think you may
be followed up after that. Like, boy, I wonder how
much that weighs on him, Like I mean, he it
seems like that is consciously a thought of his. And
I'm curious how do we see that, if at all,
when the red jersey comes off in games, especially because

(57:19):
again we obviously saw him last Thursday play leave due
to injury. Now tomorrow we'll see him for a quarter
and half. Can Daniel Jones gonna start tomorrow, play a
couple series, then it'll be Anthony Richardson for the final
quarter and a half. That's the plan. Do we see like,
I guess I don't even know what I'm looking for, Like,
do we see him not run as much? Do we
see him not taking on as many hits? Do we

(57:41):
see him try to get rid of the ball quicker?
I don't know if that was the first time James
Richardson himself has gone there in a very blunt manner
of just like, no, I'm not gonna say avoid turnovers.
I'm not gonna say be great with my mental assignments.

(58:01):
Pre snap. I'm not going to say, you know, have
a highly efficient day or lead a couple of touchdown drives. No, no, no,
I'm gonna say I need to stay healthy. And again
he's not wrong, let me be clear, but just what
does that look like when he's out there for a
quarter and a half.

Speaker 1 (58:18):
I think it is on his mind because otherwise, why
in a preseason game when you're pinky is pointing the
wrong direction, you're begging to go back in. So he
knows that he wants to stay available. But James, I'll
let you answer the broader question. What does it look
like from maybe within his noggin and what he wants
to get accomplished.

Speaker 3 (58:37):
I'm not sure obviously because I'm not in his head,
but I would imagine it. Like Kevin said, it weighs
on you. So does that alter the way you play? Then?
I know that's what like, That's what I always say.
That's kind of what I'm getting at.

Speaker 4 (58:48):
You're playing scared or you're playing cautiously because you're you're
in your own head. They always say, like the best
quarterbacks of the guys that don't think. Because I actually
think he's walking upon my line. Anthony Richardson, I largely
think he's walked a fine line in using his legs
like to me, like Josh Allen borderlines on recklessness.

Speaker 2 (59:10):
With how many hits he takes. It's unbelievable, Josh Allen
estate take that.

Speaker 3 (59:14):
I truly believe that being injury prone or not is
like a god given a bill right, and there's no
rhyme or reason behind it. Will he should get hurt
like all the time Will Levis.

Speaker 2 (59:22):
He looks like a you know, twenty year old in
the tailgate field in Bloomington on a on a Saturday
afternoon with him running around with his head cut off.

Speaker 3 (59:29):
So but like Richardson, you've seen that, No, no, no,
you've seen that.

Speaker 2 (59:39):
Herman Wells Library on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (59:43):
That's me being a Bible study on a frontday college
where it started when the first beer was cracked.

Speaker 2 (59:47):
Do we see anything different from him? I largely think
to Greg greg Strauss's point, yeah, when you get into
the nitty gritty of the game, yes, you want to
see Daniel Jones attempts some stuff down the field, be
successful in that in that realm with Anthony obviously, you
want to see methodical passing game and consistency there, and
you know, if you do overanalyze his reps against Baltimore,

(01:00:07):
you know he had a near pick, you know, kind
of avoiding some of that stuff. But yeah, just does
he look different at all as a thrower or as
a protectorrver's body for lack of a better phrase.

Speaker 1 (01:00:22):
We'll talk more about it. Does the morning rolls along,
We'll have Matt Taylor coming your way at the top
of the average and Maytey is going to be on here,
so we're looking forward to that. In the meantime, let's
check it down mark question the morning checkdown on ninety
sweet five and one oh seven five the fan. Well,
they were out at Colts Camp last day, at Grand
Park yesterday joint practices with the Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 3 (01:00:43):
We've been talking about it all morning long.

Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
James Boider think to consensus is the offense struggled except
for maybe the very very end of practice.

Speaker 3 (01:00:51):
Yeah, it was rough. It was a very poor day.
And honestly, if it wasn't for that last two minute drive,
particularly with the starters and Anthony Richard going down the
field and scoring, if it wasn't for that, there would
have been no highlights at all. Among that offensive no
showing Kevin Bowen defensively not so bad, right, Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
Thought Loud too, Lots Too in particular, nice start, nice finish,
and I'd point him out because Green Bay I believe
had their entire offensive line intact, so I think that
was kind of a good on good moment, and Lots
too had a really nice day. But yes, Malik Willis
and that banged up Green Bay wide receiver Cord. They
did nothing at all the final two minute drill. I

(01:01:31):
don't even think they got a yard if I remember, frankly,
four plays and only negative yards because a Lot two.

Speaker 3 (01:01:36):
Had a sack on second down.

Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
I think it went incompletion, sack drop and then overthrow
by Willis. So yeah, the Colts banged up dB crew
corner safety did a really nice job there, So yes,
that is definitely the positive. Injury note Josh Towns left
early hamstring, Samson Ebocom left early back. The downs one
certainly is one to keep an eye on as a

(01:02:00):
season is three weeks from Sunday.

Speaker 3 (01:02:02):
I have a quick question. So you know, when you
end playing basketball, they say you can't leave on a miss.
It'll want to make. Yeah, but when practice ends with
like you throwing a pick? Does Daniel Jones like this
is there? I need to ask the players this, like
do you go out there and throw a route on
air to somebody? Like okay, go get underneath that. So
I can't I can't leave right, that can be the
last play on the.

Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
Field, can blue or on a comeback round?

Speaker 3 (01:02:23):
It's gotta be something I can't my practice, Like, definitely,
that's such a deflating thing to be the left imagining
the play that ends practice and it's the worst play now.

Speaker 2 (01:02:31):
When practice ended yesterday, some of the LIV golfers made
the way onto the field and I saw Bubba Watson
Son wanted a picture with Christian Watson. He couldn't believe
that there was another Watson professional athlete that actually has
the name on the back of his jersey and.

Speaker 1 (01:02:46):
Gets going later on Today Live Today.

Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
Yeah, And Kevin wanted to find Brighton to Shambo, but
noon he wasn't around there.

Speaker 4 (01:02:52):
He was did you boo when they came out on
the field, like little west Fork whiskey action there.

Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
Pox on your whole.

Speaker 1 (01:03:01):
That's like six alcohol references by you in the last
fifteen minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
A little murmur of some of the live golfers. They
view Chatham as the easiest course they've seen so far,
so I'll be curious to see how low the scores
are there. Hope the turf is held up in the
heat that we have gotten here. But yes, noon shotgun today,
and I think it gets one hour earlier. I believe
the next three days. So eleven am Saturday, ten am

(01:03:25):
on Sunday and Jason de Rulo Mark Dayton. Can we
get some Darula?

Speaker 5 (01:03:30):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
Sure, absolutely?

Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
Is that Saturday? De Rulo?

Speaker 5 (01:03:34):
I think so.

Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Riley Green is today. From a concert standpoint, I don't know.
I don't know Riley Green, but I do know Jason Derula.

Speaker 3 (01:03:43):
There you go, you got him on your h Riley Green.

Speaker 1 (01:03:46):
Yeah, you do know Riley Green. You said yesterday you
only know se love Well.

Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
I mean I know him based off of a look
at the face right now. Just google Riley Green. Yeah,
I'm pretty sure I heard some of his songs.

Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
I feel like we're getting a little bit. Pacer schedule
came out. Some people have asked prime in peacock games,
eight of them for the Pacers? Will those be also
on FanDuel? Which would be Christin area of course. Quinn
Buckner and Jeremiah Johnson from someone in the know, they
believe that they are exclusive the Prime and Peacock, but

(01:04:17):
not final word on that ESPN which is just one
game on ESPN for the Pacers that is allowed to
be aired on fan duel, which I think we see
at times during the regular season here, so they should
be able to go side by side on opening night
Pacers Thunder is the ESPN game. You will have your
FanDuel broadcast, I believe, but it sounds like that is

(01:04:37):
still to be finalized on the Peacock in Prime because
if not, boy, that's eight games. I mean, that's a
good chunk eight of eighty one that would not be
aired on Fandel.

Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
James, you were wondering. Milwaukee gets here the third of November,
a Monday night, the Minles Turner return.

Speaker 3 (01:04:53):
I'll be there either as a member of the media
or someone in the stands, but I will be in
the building for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
That's these due dates, so I probably will not be.

Speaker 1 (01:05:01):
There, all right, I don't worry.

Speaker 3 (01:05:03):
I'll make it interesting. Kevin, come on, I'm like, you know,
when I see Miles, I'd be like, you know, my boy, Kevin,
Bone really want to be here, so say what's up
to bring the gold bag? And then if you have
to go, you go.

Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
So harding right now, three.

Speaker 3 (01:05:18):
Passing some knowledge to you. You're not the one having
the baby.

Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
Didn't someone have a baby at Lucas Oil a couple
of years ago?

Speaker 1 (01:05:28):
I don't remember that.

Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
I mean that happened.

Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
I think you had a fever dream.

Speaker 2 (01:05:34):
I thought one of like the medics on staff. I
could be wrong on that.

Speaker 1 (01:05:39):
Somebody.

Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
I've drank the second cup of coffee too early today.

Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
It's the coffee.

Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
I apologize.

Speaker 3 (01:05:45):
No, you are correct.

Speaker 4 (01:05:46):
During a Colts game against the Browns that Lucas Oil,
a baby was born. The mother went into labor during
the game and was assisted by stadium medics.

Speaker 1 (01:05:52):
Do we have a name?

Speaker 3 (01:05:53):
I would be so hard. I'll be judging so hard.
So that was that our PJ.

Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
Walker game related the Browns receiver David Bell. That's right,
I do remember this story, Warren Central, David Bell.

Speaker 3 (01:06:06):
Yes are you? Kevin?

Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
Oh? Thank you?

Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
The dark corners of your mind come through again?

Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
Man like it. Jr.

Speaker 1 (01:06:13):
Over here was laughing at me, thinking I was wrong.
Respect I thought maybe you had a fever dream. But no,
there too, all right, Taylor Swift tonight at the field. Yes,
the actual Fever will be in action against the Washington Mystics.
It'll be the twelfth game they'll play without Caitlyn Clark,
and that one starts at seven point thirty. John Nolan

(01:06:34):
has the play by play. The pregame with Eddie Garrison
starts at seven to fifteen. Right here in ninety through
five one oh seven five the fan, Kevin, you'll be
interested in knowing that the Mets lost again yesterday and
the Reds are edging close came back to a wild
card spot, the Cubs falling further behind Milwaukee. They lose
to the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of two
to one. But the Brewers will be playing the Reds,

(01:06:57):
and you're gonna be a Reds fan this weekend, right Mark, I.

Speaker 3 (01:07:00):
Mean, unless they crap the bed against the Brewers.

Speaker 2 (01:07:03):
I'm not giving up. Either you're a fan or you're
not a fan.

Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
Well, then I'm not a fan. I've never have been,
I never will be there.

Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
So now you're not.

Speaker 4 (01:07:11):
Well, I'm saying if they can get it done. If
they don't, if they just let Milwaukee keep raking, then.

Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
They'll be dead to me, so you're a fair weather fan.

Speaker 5 (01:07:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:07:19):
When it comes to the Reds, I don't care for them. Otherwise,
this from jet boat.

Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
Driver, I had a baby during that Browns game to
still piss about that. If I'm not mistaken, there are
a few questionable flags that went against the Colts late
in that game. Is that when Miles Garrett jumped over
the line and blocked a field gal i.

Speaker 1 (01:07:37):
Can ended up looking like a pretzel as baby. So
that's what happened in that game. Remember we're talking about
the pretzels yesterday at Lucas Oil.

Speaker 3 (01:07:46):
Completely confused, I am, I'm very confused.

Speaker 1 (01:07:49):
I'll explain it a minute here. Mark knows what I'm
talking about.

Speaker 6 (01:07:51):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
Can I get my nerdy golf up date for a second?

Speaker 1 (01:07:55):
Please?

Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Straight hour?

Speaker 3 (01:07:56):
Shout out to the legend Jacob bod Leski, the Pride
of Gharren, the Pride of pebble Brook.

Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
He is in the final eight, the Pride of Notre Dame.
He is in the final eight at the US Amateur.
If he wins two matches, one today, one tomorrow, he
will be in the Masters in twenty twenty six. We
have to get him on the radio for that. If
he wins all three wins the US Amateur. He's paired
with Rory McElroy at the twenty ten to.

Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
Sixte deal Man, that's a really golf course. Shout out
thirty six holes up there, he gets on the radio.
The rest of us just need to leave the studio
and let Kevin have it to himself for like ten.

Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
Son of an Air Force pilot, greatest athlete in garn history,
and not sure what that says, necessarily Garren's pretty young
high school, but nonetheless unbelievable. Watched it last night, defeating
Paul Chang from Virginia is on Golf Channel nice two
hours in the Golf Channel, got home from colts practice,
and I was never been happier to watch that.

Speaker 1 (01:08:45):
Coming up in a moment, we'll talk more about the
uh pacers' schedule release and maybe takes some updates on
names for Turner's Block. They're gonna have to change that
this year. We'll do it next at ninety three, five
and one on seven. Let's go, Yeah, you.

Speaker 2 (01:08:59):
Ask you get, Let's go, Mark Dyton Derulo.

Speaker 3 (01:09:04):
Is this the opener?

Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
Will this get you to the lives of the tournament?

Speaker 2 (01:09:07):
This is the encore? I can see the fog machine
right now? Will this get you to and things around
that probably shouldn't be passed around.

Speaker 3 (01:09:15):
M hmm.

Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
Let's go all this from Jason Derulu May Yeah, what
an artist. I always love the early siren that you
would hear in these songs like when we were in college.

Speaker 3 (01:09:26):
Yeah, yeah, I know you're talking about good times.

Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
Let's get I'm there in spirit. I am there in spirit,
Jason Derulo a live concert tomorrow up there in Westfield.
Westfield School's close today, right.

Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
I don't know that what's going on?

Speaker 5 (01:09:43):
Right? You just do?

Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
What do you mean you got? You gotta bust the
fans in.

Speaker 3 (01:09:47):
I'm gonna be a boomer for the first time in
my life. Get back to school, Go back to school,
old club, back you my day.

Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
You gotta bust the fans in to the complex up there.
James Boyd, you're up there a lot. It's not like
there's a ton you can't tell.

Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
Me about the roundabouts. Couldn't get you to school on time.

Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
You know where the monon is up there?

Speaker 5 (01:10:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:10:05):
You cross over the mona Yeah Hunter ninety first, I
mean that street before it I think it's Tomlinson Boom.
You turn right on that mile down the road and
that's where Live Golf is.

Speaker 1 (01:10:15):
Oh nice, it's right there, been through there many times.
It's the Fan Morning Show ninety through five, one oh
seven five the Fan. A lot going on. Yeah, Colts
camp up at Grand Park through yesterday, and of course
you talked about Lift Golf showing up today. We've got
preseason for the Colts tomorrow and the schedule release for
the Indiana Pacers is out. There will be nine games

(01:10:36):
they say are nationally televised, but you need subscriptions to
Amazon or Peacock to watch a lot of them.

Speaker 3 (01:10:41):
James boy, Yeah, not you know, obviously the best for
sometimes watching all those games. But hey, it is what
it is, and we will keep you updated and hopefully
you know, if you don't listen in watching, you can
all listen to it here on our show.

Speaker 1 (01:10:55):
And Milwaukee returns the third of November. Your chance. I
know you want to see Mile Turner coming.

Speaker 3 (01:11:00):
Yeah, I gotta see that. I gotta see that. And
they'll have another game against Milwaukee here on December twenty third.
Nice little Christmas gift for you know, the petty people
in your lives. If you want to go check that game,
out as well. So I am very excited about the season.
And like I said, it starts off, in my opinion,
pretty top heavy. You got Oklahoma City, you got Memphis
with John Morant, a healthy John Morant. You got Minnesota,

(01:11:21):
who obviously is very good every year. Dallas, you know,
with Cooper Flag and Company coming, you know, actually going there,
So it's going to be a lot. But also then
the one time is Steph Curry comes to game. Bridge
will be on November first, and so that's Saturday nights
and so if you know, again that is a must
see TV game because you don't know how many time

(01:11:41):
you're going to see a guy like that.

Speaker 2 (01:11:42):
Yeah, and the typical holiday games that we're used to
with the Pacers are indeed happening at home. And by
that I mean the Friday night Thanksgiving game. You're going
to get that at home. I think that's one of
those Commissioner's Cup games, so the tree lighting and a
lot of people like to make that and then do
a big weekend so you'll get that. And it seems
like almost every year they play the New Year's Eve

(01:12:04):
afternoon game as well.

Speaker 5 (01:12:06):
That is true.

Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
I believe it's three o'clock the tip time this year
against the team that I think a lot of people
are high on in the Orlando Magic and of course
Desmond Bane now a member of the Magic.

Speaker 1 (01:12:17):
There.

Speaker 2 (01:12:17):
So Chris, excuse me, New Year's Eve. You'll get that
on a Wednesday. So does that mean no JMB on
a Wednesday?

Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
That's what's going to me. You'll probably be over there
at the field House shout out to SoC with whatever
turns from Turner's Block into whatever we decide to go
with over there, whatever the group decides to go with
over there.

Speaker 2 (01:12:34):
We've got a lot of fans. No fan section this
year they have, I guess I was. I was sent
an email about it.

Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
I did not see that email.

Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
Yeah, like I said, I just need the John Cena
heel turn November third, let's do it.

Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Mark the smile, see it disappear a frown and then
kick right in the beans. Yep, and we need John Halliburton.

Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
As we look ahead to next season, you wanted to
share an important update with the group. Unfortunately, the fan
Zone will not be returning for future Pacers games. Even
though the fan Zone is coming to a close, we
hope you'll continue to bring that same incredible energy to
every game. So did they not call it the Turner's block?
The fan zone has been a special play. Well, how
are my fans like you who brought unmatched spirit and dedication?

(01:13:20):
Turner's Block was dead as soon as he That's a
great PR release. Yeah, gotta say face a little.

Speaker 3 (01:13:26):
Bit hopefully high off.

Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
Dan'll still be Oh yeah, definitely going there.

Speaker 1 (01:13:33):
Uh just like last year two a bunch of Cleveland
games down the stretcher. I see they see one at
Cleveland on the fourth. Remember last year they ended up
playing Cleveland a couple of times right at the very
end of the season, and turn right around and play
him in the playoffs too, like.

Speaker 4 (01:13:45):
A fever playing the Dallas Wings every other day. That
was when Kevin was sweating out his fifty win. Bet
you got you got it?

Speaker 2 (01:13:54):
That was boy. That was a look in the mirror
moment when that game ended. I looked in the mirror
and just wipe this off. My brown said, never.

Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
Again in place that it should have been in the mirror,
like I'm him.

Speaker 2 (01:14:04):
And now here.

Speaker 3 (01:14:05):
This is what I do. This is great.

Speaker 1 (01:14:06):
You should never worried.

Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
You were never worried. Did you watch that game? They
were getting smoked I'm living to die with you know,
Ray J. Dennis's ball handling and Johnny Furfy getting put
back buckets. Rick Carlisle, did he not bring up the
over under with us on Wednesday? You did thirty nine
and a half?

Speaker 5 (01:14:25):
Is that correct? Market?

Speaker 1 (01:14:25):
Second, personally, don't you? Kevin?

Speaker 4 (01:14:28):
I mean that that might be one of your easiest
over bets that you can ever have. Oh, I mean
they're they're not gonna win.

Speaker 1 (01:14:37):
There's under thirty years, No way, they're they're winning less
than forty games.

Speaker 2 (01:14:41):
Well, guys, again, I have not just lived and died
at the over under. I've gone above and beyond. When
the overunder has been forty two and a half, I've
said fifty. So we don't just live in the over under.
So forty five wins, it would be ten dollars to
win thirty two dollars, so one hundred dollars to win
three hundred and twenty dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:15:02):
You're going one hundred. Any diapers you said you're going big,
you're going one hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
Do you like forty five wins?

Speaker 5 (01:15:07):
I do? I like?

Speaker 1 (01:15:09):
Yeah, right in that area, I think, I.

Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
Don't know, forty five might be a lot. That might
be tough area fifty five.

Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
Yes, thank you, Luke. Yeah, from the Roy Hibbert days there.

Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
So, Yeah, Huff's heard you don't like the Jay huff
Herd got to earn it.

Speaker 2 (01:15:27):
I like the mimitary. You guys are all in on that.
That was great.

Speaker 3 (01:15:29):
I want to not only do I like it, I
want a T shirt with that. That will be a
nice teacher. I did like with like gre other players.
I think Brunson and I want all that.

Speaker 2 (01:15:38):
I think Nemhard would like that too. Matherin's mafia not bad.

Speaker 3 (01:15:43):
That's money.

Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
That's what he's worried about. Is going to be a
pacer come February twentieth.

Speaker 3 (01:15:48):
Oh, you're starting off with the stress already, sir, here
we go already.

Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
Is it not a question that deserves to be asked.

Speaker 3 (01:15:54):
You're the president of the fan club. You cannot ask
that question.

Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
August. It's August fifteenth.

Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
Rick was thrown out a lot on Wednesday, and I
didn't have on the Bengo card him throwing out me
as the president of the Matheren fam.

Speaker 3 (01:16:05):
Motion to expel President Bowen from the math In council. Yeah,
the board made I'll see you now.

Speaker 2 (01:16:11):
Rick's on the board, and honestly, I think he has
the most votes of anybody on the board.

Speaker 1 (01:16:19):
It's Fan Morning Show with Kevin Bowen, James Boyd, Jeff Rickard,
Mark Diichten, Producer of the Year over there, somebody named you.
How about that?

Speaker 4 (01:16:26):
I mean, I'm getting offered that praise and getting offered
raises and PTO increases.

Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
I'll take it all this.

Speaker 1 (01:16:32):
Were you still going to auction off your blue power
aide between James and Kevin.

Speaker 4 (01:16:36):
Here it's unopened, it's still sitting there. It's a little
less frosty than it was in the leader board right
now as far as the suck ups go.

Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
So I'm just letting you know.

Speaker 2 (01:16:44):
James, we saw Josh Down's exit yesterday hamstring injury. We
saw Josh Down's exit last year in training camp with
an ankle injury. He end up missing the first two games.
The Colts really patchworked his absence this year. On paper,
Anthony Gould would seem to be a guy that would
just kind of slide into that role more so than

(01:17:06):
Ady Mitchell. You know, part of why I disagreed with
Jeff's Adie Mitchell eighty catches because I don't look at
Adie Mitchell's a slot.

Speaker 3 (01:17:13):
Right, He's capable of it, but I would probably I
wouldn't probably go there.

Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
Anthony Gould is more of the traditional slot. Yes, if
Josh Ballins is to miss time, do you feel better
in twenty twenty five than you did in twenty twenty
four about how you would go about replacing that?

Speaker 3 (01:17:29):
No, because if I'm judging off of the preseason opener,
Anthony Gould looked a little shaky under the lights two
drops dropped to kick off. I think he has to
bounce back this week for me to feel a little
bit more confident in him taking a step forward. You
would like to think he can do that, you know
he is. I think he's a second year player, right,
So yes, I'll have to give him some grace in

(01:17:50):
that regard. So we'll see. But it is certainly a
question to ask or they're out there, Kevin, because with
this hamstring injury, we don't know if Josh Dawns will
be available week.

Speaker 1 (01:18:00):
One, and where are we at on Alec Pierce right now?

Speaker 3 (01:18:02):
Too well, just to kind of give a blanket statement,
not only for you, Jeff, for with listeners, there are
no updates on time much for any of these guys,
and every time we ask Shane Styche, he just says
they're progressing and there's nothing else to really say. So, yeah,
I would like to know more, but we don't know more.

Speaker 1 (01:18:17):
I did say Carly, he's wearing a walking boot again yesterday,
which he's been for a while now.

Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
Oh, carlis yes, yes, Jayalen carlis, yeah, that was I
believe I might be new the you know, believe the
right ankle was in a boot and he's another one
that can't really be evaluated because he can't stay healthy.
I know it was the fibula and the shoulder last year.
Then he was still recovering from the shoulder of the spring,
and now it's the ankle. So, you know, talk about

(01:18:45):
a guy who was supposed to be penciled as a
projected starter. That is not the case at all. Now.
I would be shocked if he started.

Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
You could make the case no one lost more in
training camp than him. Yeah, good point, like considering he
was yes, I would think internally they were writing his
name and penn on the depth chart on July twenty seventh,
and now here we are. I think he was losing
some grip on that starting job before the ankle injury,
and now he's missed a week plus and like you
guys said, he's in a boot, so that return is

(01:19:13):
So we're starting to get to this, you know, a
week from Tuesday's roster cuts and it's just one big one,
ninety to fifty three. And I know some of this
stuff's a little nerdy, but you're starting to get into
who which injured guys are you keeping on the roster
and the list right now of guys that have missed
time or could miss more time Josh Downs, Alec Pierce

(01:19:35):
than defensively, Jalen Carlies, Kenny Moore, Kenny Moritell's John yesterday
although he played the hip a game a little bit there,
you know, I should be back soon, something along those lines.
Then you get in the corners Jayalen Jones, Juju Brent So,
Nick Cross has missed a week plus, Quitty pays in
about a week area. So you need some clarity on
some of these guys in the next seven ish days

(01:19:56):
or else roster cuts will get very complicated.

Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
It's gonna be fascinating to watch, and of course all
eyes are gonna be on quarterback play against the Packers.
And there's just no way of getting around it right now.
If you believe this is an open quarterback, I don't
think you have a clear cut winner. I've always felt
like myself personally that Anthony Richardson has to do something
to lose it. Daniel Jones really needs to go above

(01:20:21):
and beyond to win it. But right now their neck
and neck, are they not?

Speaker 3 (01:20:25):
Yeah, we could certainly get into it on the other
side of the break, but it is not a clear
cut decision at all.

Speaker 1 (01:20:30):
All right, we'll take that break and tell you about
it more as we continue at ninety three five and
one seven five. Good morning and walk over to the show.
Marcus always you will post the playlist from today's show
on your Twitter account later on.

Speaker 4 (01:20:45):
There was a pleasure song. I love Michelle brand This
a little banger Friday here. Yeah, Michelle Branch gets it done.
Saw her a few years ago as an opener. She's
outstanding everywhere. Well, that's their big one.

Speaker 2 (01:20:55):
Love Me's Michelle brand.

Speaker 3 (01:20:57):
All you wanted?

Speaker 4 (01:20:57):
Yeah, she had liked it. It was like Usher related.
It was like a hit after hit. It was like,
good lord, you can't miss right now live golfing. He's
a higher Mark set up these concerts. I'm telling you
that's why the Colts looks so bad in practice. I
didn't give that motivational speech yesterday. You didn't got a
lot better and should have been there.

Speaker 3 (01:21:15):
You know what, you you must have gave it to
the defense because the Packers offense looked terrible, which I'm
sure you.

Speaker 5 (01:21:21):
James was.

Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
I I don't know if I expected it, because Malik
Willis last year looked great in that week to win,
so that little get back there.

Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
Was that only one when the Packers fans, which there
were a good amount of them, when they started that
go Pack Go chant at the start of practice. I
literally felt like Mark was going to rise from the
cornfields of Westfield, and all of a sudden.

Speaker 3 (01:21:40):
You stopped that. Yeah, you watched your mouth. I would
have been like just running suicides. I've been throwing up
on the field. That would have made me bark, I
will say, though there were a lot of Packers fans,
I got nothing to do.

Speaker 7 (01:21:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:21:53):
Joel A.

Speaker 3 (01:21:53):
Eericson, who is a Wisconsinato by the way, he gave
me that warning and I was like, oh, I'll get
to practice as usual time, which I'm usually like ten
or fifteen minutes early for colts practice, which is not
the case for the morning show. I'm usually two minutes
early for the morning show. But when I pulled up,
they were like, yeah, you have to park way over
here and like parky, call on the grass and walk
way back over here. I was like, Wow, these people

(01:22:15):
really travel well. Yeah, but to your point, I do
think that's true. When I went to Green Bay last year,
first time there, it was ously very cool experience to
go to Lambewfield and all that stuff. But it's like
going back to nineteen ninety two. Yeah, there was with
all these John Deere tractors in the park. So there's
nothing there and everywhere you go, whether it's the mall
or a restaurant on something, it's like green and yellow.

(01:22:35):
So if you don't like football or the premium packers
and you live in Green Bay.

Speaker 5 (01:22:38):
What do you do?

Speaker 3 (01:22:39):
All time record was set with overalls and like.

Speaker 1 (01:22:42):
Steel boot h hunting gear that's big too. It's the
unofficial third quarter color of the packs.

Speaker 4 (01:22:47):
They're probably going to go to the game tomorrow and
then they're gonna just head over to Cincinnati to watch
their Brewers play too.

Speaker 3 (01:22:52):
Probably do a low road trip.

Speaker 2 (01:22:53):
I think an outright positive from yesterday was how the
Colts ended in practice, and for those that have really
been to practices in general, particularly the joint sessions, James,
it's almost like they've turned the end of practice into
the marquee event two minute drill, ninety guys on each sideline.
You know, for the most part, practices are on split fields.

(01:23:15):
Of these point sessions, you let Malik Willison the starting
offense on one field, Anthony Richardson Daniel Jones on the other,
and you practice simultaneously. But at the end they put
the two teams again on opposite sidelines. The starting units
get to go against each other, so first team offense,
first team defense. Then the twos go against each other.
So there's four separate sessions that take place. And the

(01:23:36):
two minute drill yesterday was a minute twelve on the clock.
I believe you had one time out and you had
to drive the length of the field. Anthony Richardson in
the starting offense was about as flawless as you could be.
Completions to Anthony Gould, Michael Pittman Junior, and then Tyler
Warren down the seam, which was a nasty, grand nasty
special dead catch by number eighty four eighty. Mitchell then

(01:23:59):
draws a defensi passing Farence penalty. Boom, you're on the
doorstep of the goal line, Richardson, you got shakey from there.
I will say, first and second down, a couple of
ugly plays.

Speaker 5 (01:24:07):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
He had an overthrow to Ady Mitchell that was kind
of weird. I thought he should have ran it in
right and and it was just it was a bad throw.
And then the play right after that, which would have
made it probably I don't know, second down in goal
or whatever it was, and he threw one super high
across the middle of Anthony Gould that was not even close.
And then I was thinking, man, this is when in

(01:24:30):
a real game, you're probably going to run, run, run,
but because of the clock situation, they probably didn't want
to run.

Speaker 2 (01:24:35):
Well, they did run it. They finally had to do
with Taylor. Yeah, they just run up the medal he
got in and then the two point conversion. I thought
Richardson made a very vintage of Richardson play expending it
and then found Pittman so again in a marquee higher
intensity moment. After I thought Richardson had had one of
his worst periods I've ever seen. He was zero for
five in one period with just horrific accuracy. Was picked

(01:24:58):
off as well, trying to find Anthony Gould, just absolutely
awful from him. He bounced back in a big way.
Then Malik Willis in the Green Bay starting offense comes
on the field and they go in completion with great
coverage by Javari's hoard Latu La Tu sack drop. It's
fourth and a million overthrow. So again in the biggest

(01:25:19):
I say that in quotes moment of the joint practice,
your starting offense goes down the field, touchdown your second
or your starting defense gets a four and out. Daniel
Jones did throw a pick when he got out there,
but for your starters, good endto practice.

Speaker 1 (01:25:32):
So I'm going to reference the video you put out
after the end of the practice yesterday, Kevin, where you
said the two minute drive was great, but it kind
of felt like they were already behind thirty to thirteen
at the end of a game when they did that.
So my question for both of you guys moving forward
is can you look at yesterday in any sense as
the glass half full by the way things ended, or

(01:25:53):
is it just more of the same old inconsistencies that
we can't put things together in stack again and again
and again.

Speaker 3 (01:26:01):
Can I plup it on you first? You were there
as well, So I do want to hear your thoughts
on this, Jeff, and maybe that'll sway me one way
or the other.

Speaker 1 (01:26:08):
Well, you heard me at the you guys were here,
maybe not everybody heard at the beginning of the show.
I just gets frustrated at the fact that if you're
this far into camp and you have an open, legitimate
quarterback competition, it'd be one thing if guys were just
slicing and dicing day in and day out and you
didn't have a clear winner. We don't have a clear winner,

(01:26:29):
and it's mostly because nobody has been stacking days, day
after day after day. So to me, it's the old
adage of if you've got two quarterbacks, you don't have
any right now.

Speaker 3 (01:26:39):
Right So to beggyback off of that statementute to answer
a question, I don't view it as a glass half
full after yesterday, at least in that particular performance. I
will go back to last week's joint practice in Baltimore
or Owings Mills, whatever the technical location is for that camp.
I thought that was much better. So, in my opinion,

(01:27:01):
to Kevin's point from earlier in the show, you're you're
probably looking at a one and two record right now
as far as what's good and what hasn't been good
throughout your three big you know, joint practice lash games.
You know, you had a good showing in Baltimore for
a joint practice bad game, and then I think it
was bad yesterday too, So I can't look at it
as half full just because of how lopsided it was.

(01:27:22):
In particular yesterday it was. I mean, ninety of that
practice was just the green Bay defense kicking the you
know coaches, you know what.

Speaker 2 (01:27:30):
Yeah, I was walking off the field.

Speaker 5 (01:27:32):
Joel A.

Speaker 2 (01:27:32):
Rickson, He's like that was a lipstick on a pig.
That's kind of how he described that final drive there.

Speaker 4 (01:27:37):
Which I feel like that term is so disrespectful to pick.
So you know how good bacon is, so many of
the st the other day delicious. That's one of the
brighter points that you've you've made here, Jane. You know
that is very fair.

Speaker 2 (01:27:49):
I don't have many great thoughts, but that's one of them,
and one thing I think as well. Honestly, I would
say where Anthony Richardson has been at his best is
in those situations.

Speaker 3 (01:27:59):
Which honestly is the theme that he's had throughout his career.
Like it's like when it gets close, yeah, there's quarter
two minutes, it's like he doesn't have to think as much.
He just kind of right, which I think is a
little maddening.

Speaker 2 (01:28:10):
It's like, wait a minute, and these supposedly pressure packed
situations you are at your year Ben that.

Speaker 3 (01:28:16):
He doesn't really get too rattled in those moments. So
that's kind of the flip of it.

Speaker 2 (01:28:20):
It's like, well, you know, when I say what I
want to see in him tomorrow, you know, to some
quarterbacks you'd say, hey, I want to I want you
in a two minute situation? How do you handle that?

Speaker 5 (01:28:28):
Well?

Speaker 2 (01:28:28):
With Richardson, that's actually been one of the areas he's
been pretty good in. It's more of the again boring
reel highlight reel James rod up earlier. The Cults were
in the red zone period yesterday with what twenty some
plays and they had one touchdown. Yeah, I mean that
is awful. So you know, for those that are just
tuning in right now, the offensive operation yesterday, it started
with penalties and protection issues. That was the root which

(01:28:50):
is maddening, so much beyond maddening, so much of it.
Yes when there were clean pockets there. Richardson was nine
to twenty, so you really, I mean, yesterday was kind
of the full rich It's an experience too, as much
as anything great finish, but nine to twenty with you know,
a big interception over the middle of the field. So yeah,
it just just a really rough day for the offense.

Speaker 1 (01:29:11):
All right, we'll get the perspective of the voice of
the Indianapolis Colts, Matt Taylor. May Te stops fine. Next
It's Fan Morning Show with Kevin Bowen, James Boyd, jeff Rickord,
Mark Dyden on the ones and twos and it comes
your way next Happy Friday. Thanks for joining us here
at ninety three five one oh seven five of the Fan.
However you're listening to us, we appreciate it, and we've
been talking about the Colts all morning long. But now

(01:29:33):
it's time to turn to a very different Price calls
the games for you on the radio every week and
he does a great job with all the shoulder programming
during the evenings and afternoons, and we love having him
be part of the team.

Speaker 5 (01:29:44):
Here.

Speaker 1 (01:29:45):
He's Matt Taylor, the voice of the Indianapolis Colts on
the pay List Lookers Hotline. How you feeling after that
little joint practice yesterday, Matt Taylor?

Speaker 7 (01:29:54):
By the way, why do they call it shoulder programming?
Why don't they call it like you know, niche knee
programming or back programming or supplemental programming.

Speaker 3 (01:30:04):
Your shoulders are strong, they're broad, they carry thing.

Speaker 2 (01:30:07):
Nothing says you talked to Jake Querry too much yesterday,
like you bringing that up.

Speaker 7 (01:30:12):
I mean, I mean, that's that's the programming nerd in me.
Why is it always called shoulder programming? Why not supplemental
or an addition to every one?

Speaker 1 (01:30:21):
You're the word smith.

Speaker 6 (01:30:25):
Uh, it's all good boys. It's good to be with you.
Uh yeah, yesterday very up and down. I thought it
was very easy to say that both defenses in the.

Speaker 7 (01:30:33):
Joint practice yesterday were pretty dominant, and you know, you
had some sloppy play, especially from the Colts offensive line.

Speaker 6 (01:30:40):
You had pre snap penalties.

Speaker 7 (01:30:42):
Which are just going to drive you crazy if you're
Shane Styke and and jymp up Cooter. You had turnovers,
drop passes, You had airs that led to turnovers and interceptions.
It was just, I thought, in kind of an unfortunate
way to wrap up practice at Grand Park in front
of the fans. But you know, football is a microcosm

(01:31:03):
of life. You're not gonna win them all, and you
got to take some lessons away from it. You got
to learn from it and try to bounce back. In
a preseason game against the Packers coming up on Saturday,
You're gonna have a good opportunity to do that with
the starters playing and sounds like the Packers aren't going
to play any of their frontline players.

Speaker 5 (01:31:21):
The Colts will for about a quarter. So in that quarter,
that first.

Speaker 7 (01:31:24):
Fifteen minutes, obviously, you want to see the Colts go
out and dominate and you know, get some stops, a
couple three and outs, maybe a takeaway. Malik Willis is
going to start. He didn't look all that sharp yesterday.
You know, you want to see the Colts move the ball,
be clean. You just want to see a pretty efficient
fifteen minutes when you got one versus twos and threes

(01:31:44):
from the Packers.

Speaker 5 (01:31:45):
Tomorrow afternoon.

Speaker 2 (01:31:46):
He is Matt Taylor voice the Colts. Him and Joe
Wright's coming up tomorrow here. One o'clock is game time,
we'll have your coverage. What are we? Are we ten?
Are we eleven tomorrow?

Speaker 5 (01:31:55):
I kind of forget we started. We started ten tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (01:31:58):
Yeah, and with our pregame coverage for that one, I
asked Greg Gray saw this an hour ago. I will
ask you, Matt Taylor, about a series or two for
Daniel Jones and Anthony Richson the rest of the first
half as succinctly as you'd like, What do you want
to see from number seventeen? What do you want to
see from number five?

Speaker 7 (01:32:15):
You know, with with Daniel Jones starting the game, I
still think there's incredible value to both guys going through
the process of starting a game and knowing that a
couple of days before the game you're going to be
the starter. I think, you know, going through pregame warm
ups and taking that those first snaps and leading that
first series.

Speaker 5 (01:32:33):
I still think there's.

Speaker 7 (01:32:34):
Something valuable to that, which is why I think the
Colts are sticking with the plan for Jones to start
the game, but for Richardson to play more snaps overall
until halftime. You know, So with with Anthony Richardson, you
know you want to see him be clean, and you
want to see him continue to focus and thrive in
the middle of the field between the numbers and the

(01:32:54):
intermediate part.

Speaker 6 (01:32:55):
Of the passing game.

Speaker 7 (01:32:56):
We've seen flashes of that in camp and we've also
seen him still kind of struggle with that a little bit, So,
especially against a second team defense from Green Bay, you
want to see him continue to excel in that area
as best as he can going into the regular season
if he's going to be the starter for this team,
because you guys know, the middle of the field is

(01:33:17):
where the coverage gets a little bit tough to read,
interpret it, it gets a little cloudy. That's where things
kind of break down a little bit, and obviously that's
where most of his struggles in the passing game the
last couple of seasons have come. And then for Daniel Jones,
you know, you look at his camp so far and
the completion percentage is right around seventy percent. You know,

(01:33:38):
not to nerd out a little bit, but it's been
kind of where he's been throughout the course of his
career in terms of overall accuracy. He's had his moments
here and there in terms of big plays, but for
the most part, as you guys know you watched every practice,
it's been very high completion percentage throws. You know, intermediate
part of the passing game is where he's excelled opposite

(01:34:00):
Anthony Richardson for the most part. Right, I'm talking generally
speaking here, but you know, for his career, he's been
in the low sixes when it comes to yards per attempt,
where the NFL average is in the seven. So, you know,
I want to see some big plays out of Daniel
Jones tomorrow. I mean, take them when they're there.

Speaker 6 (01:34:18):
Obviously, don't force them, but you know, I.

Speaker 5 (01:34:20):
Think that he can do it, and I think that
this offense really needs it.

Speaker 7 (01:34:24):
I mean, Shane Stikeen is very much a proponent for
getting chunk plays because you guys know, it's hard to
score when you're going ten twelve play drives and possessions.
I mean, so many things can go wrong. You got
a protection that breaks down, or you got a pre
snap penalty that puts it behind the chains. It's just
hard to score points when you're so methodical. So, you know,

(01:34:45):
I thought this was incredibly fascinating that Daniel Jones last
year started ten games, and so did Anthony Richardson. But
Daniel Jones completed ninety more passes that Anthony Richardson did
last year, but he only totaled about two hundred and
fifty more passing yards than Richardson.

Speaker 6 (01:35:03):
So I mean that kind of speaks to the you know,
take what's.

Speaker 7 (01:35:06):
There in the low or the high completion of percentage
and the low threats of putting the ball in danger.

Speaker 5 (01:35:13):
If you will, if you're Daniel Jones, So I want
want to see a good mixture.

Speaker 7 (01:35:15):
Of him, you know, still commanding this offense and you know,
taking chances and pushing the ball and getting the ball
down the.

Speaker 5 (01:35:24):
Field to guys like a d Mitchell.

Speaker 7 (01:35:25):
And I don't know if Josh Down is going to
play tomorrow, probably not after leaving yesterday's practice, but you
know guys like that Alec Pierce, same thing.

Speaker 6 (01:35:32):
I don't know if he's gonna play.

Speaker 7 (01:35:33):
But there's plenty of weapons within this offense to take
those deep shots and kind of loosen up the defense.

Speaker 3 (01:35:40):
Mattie, I do want to pivot a bit too. Do
you alluded to some of the you know, other pass catches,
particularly helping out goy like anthy Ritson and Daniel Jones,
one of them being Tyler Warren. I tried to get
too hyperbolic with rookies because you still want to see
it on Sundays. But he had an incredible catch down
the scene in that last two minute JO yesterday from
Anthony Richardson. And it seems like every few practices, if

(01:36:01):
Night wants a practice, he has one of those catches.
So how do you feel about how he can fit
into this offense and what he can mean for this
team moving forward?

Speaker 7 (01:36:11):
Yeah, I'm so excited because they can get him involved
in the screen game. They can line them up in
the slot, they can line them up at the true
why tight end, they can flex them out and you know,
be right behind like a wing if you will, behind
a tackle. The great thing about Tyler Warren, and in
terms of his versatility, is and we've talked about this before,

(01:36:31):
is that when he's on the field, he's not going
to tip to the defense, run or pass because he can.
He's very serviceable. And that's probably an understatement for him
in the in the blocking game, you know, when the
Colts decided to run it in formationally, but obviously he
can do so many things catching the ball too, and
when you go two tight ends on the field. It's
almost like having three receivers because of how good he is.

(01:36:54):
So you can play with Moley Cox and Tyler Warren
and you don't really tip your hand the defense saying, hey,
this is an obvious run down because we've got two
tight ends in the field. Well, I mean, Warren's a
tight end, but he's also like a slot receiver as well,
and if you put a linebacker on him, I mean,
good night, good luck. I mean, he's just so athletic,
and he's also incredibly physical, So he's just like I said,

(01:37:16):
I mean, he can thrive in twenty twenty five football
because of how spread out it is, but he could
also kick him but if it was nineteen seventy.

Speaker 6 (01:37:24):
Five as well.

Speaker 5 (01:37:25):
He's just like a throwback player.

Speaker 7 (01:37:26):
So I'm incredibly excited to see just the creativity and
the versatility that we continue to see out of Tyler Warren.
And I think I've had to personally kind of recalibrate
my expectations for him because I thought he was going
to be like a three to four catch per game guy.
Now I think that might be four to five or heck,
maybe even six catches per game, at least once per quarter.

(01:37:50):
He's going to get involved with some run after the catch,
some screens, some drags over the middle, and he's just
gonna come up, I think with some very clutch and
timely receptions this year, and I think he's going to
have a very active rookie season.

Speaker 1 (01:38:01):
Matt Taylor's the voice of the Indianapolis Colts, joined us
on the Payloss Lickers Hotline. We've been talking a little
bit about injuries and the fact that everything is guys
are progressing, guys are progressing. Do you know anything more
about injury situations for guys like Alec Pierce, for I mean,
what happened with Josh Downs the other day? What's going
on with some of the defensive guys. Can you give
us any insight of where we're at right now as

(01:38:22):
we go into a second preseason game.

Speaker 6 (01:38:25):
Yeah, I wish I could. I just know that it's
not ideal.

Speaker 7 (01:38:28):
And you know, Alec Piers still missing this week, and
you had Josh Downs and he looked pretty frustrated walking
off the sideline yesterday with his hamstring injury. I mean,
he was able to walk off, but he looked pretty discouraged.

Speaker 6 (01:38:40):
That however it went down.

Speaker 7 (01:38:42):
I'm really concerned about what's going on the secondary, just
because that seemed to be on paper such a unit
of strength for the Colts going into the season, and
now not to say that it isn't, but those guys
have to come back to make it a strength because
you've got the experience of Jalen Jones. You know, he's
basically been a full time I'm starter for you in
each of his first two seasons. Justin Wally was an

(01:39:04):
absolute you know, that was gut wrenching because he was
gonna be good. He was, He just was, and the
Colts trusted him to do a lot. And so that
part's really unfortunate because you're losing a playmaker, but also
just another key depth position. I think Kenny Moore is
going to be fine. He seemed to be in good spirits.
I don't know if he's going to play tomorrow after
not practicing yesterday, but I think Week one for him

(01:39:27):
is probably not in jeopardy based on just again, this
is just my interpretation of things with body language, and
he's out of practice and he's smiling and he's getting
around pretty good, so they're probably playing that one pretty safe.
Maybe the same thing with Alec Pierce, But we'll have
to wait and see. But yes, I mean it seemed like,
you guys know, the first two two and a half

(01:39:47):
weeks of camp, it was pretty good from an injury standpoint.

Speaker 5 (01:39:51):
You know, you're knocking on wood at that point.

Speaker 7 (01:39:52):
But now you know, the injury bug is starting to
rear its ugly head and there's some complications in terms
of the roster mechanics towards the end of training camp.

Speaker 2 (01:40:01):
He is Matt Taylor. He is voice of the Colts
with us here on the Payloss Slickers hot line. Mayte
your level of belief in the Reds in the final
month and a half of the season. Can you compare
that to your belief in a Colts player.

Speaker 6 (01:40:18):
Well, that's a good question. Now, speaking of Jake Query,
that's that's that's a jet ja yea.

Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
And I I hate to say that Jake rubbed off
on me, but he did.

Speaker 3 (01:40:27):
Yeah, you know, I mean only a half game back,
the Mets look like, I mean, unbelievable.

Speaker 7 (01:40:35):
Yeah, I would say, you know, let me answer it with, like,
on a scale of one to ten, how confident do
I feel the Reds are gonna nab one of those
wild card spots. I've probably put it at a five,
like right down the middle, like you're not gonna surprise
me either way, like if you start to get hot
or continue to play good baseball, because they are right now.
The pitching's been great, the bullpen's been really good.

Speaker 6 (01:40:56):
They're getting some timely hitting.

Speaker 7 (01:40:57):
They're hitting some bombs, you know, the grams lamb the
other night to kind of break open that game against
the Phillies.

Speaker 6 (01:41:03):
But I don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:41:04):
I'm just I'm too I'm too jaded as a Red fan,
you know. So I'm gonna split it right down the
middle and say I wouldn't be surprised if they fade
and fall off a cliff like they did two years ago.
And I would be pleasantly surprised if they get in
and give me some pleasure from a sports angle in October,

(01:41:24):
give me something to look forward to and watch, you know,
once postseason baseball happens, which hasn't happened since twenty twenty
for the Reids.

Speaker 2 (01:41:31):
I haven't even looked it up. Are they home next weekend?
I didn't know if you were gonna double dip or
just make the drive down Saturday.

Speaker 5 (01:41:37):
I think they are. I looked when the schedule came out.

Speaker 7 (01:41:42):
I want to say that they are, but I can't
remember who they play, So yeah, I'm just a big
ball of uncertainty right as far as their schedule goes.

Speaker 3 (01:41:50):
They're on the road next wee weekend against the Diamondbacks.

Speaker 1 (01:41:54):
Oh yeah, I got the big.

Speaker 2 (01:41:55):
West Coast trip coming up here.

Speaker 7 (01:41:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:41:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:41:58):
Their schedule down the stretches is very tough, whereas the
Cubs schedule is very easy.

Speaker 6 (01:42:02):
You got to give it to the Cubs.

Speaker 7 (01:42:03):
I mean, I know they're they're kind of waffling a
little bit, but I think they'll rebound and play some
good baseball down the streps.

Speaker 3 (01:42:09):
But very kind Taylor there.

Speaker 7 (01:42:16):
They're tough schedule is at the beginning of the season,
and they navigated that thing pretty well.

Speaker 3 (01:42:20):
So if they can, then you buy them a Woodhouse
gift card too for a SPA later for Mark type now,
Matt Taylor, Matt Taylor gets it, man.

Speaker 7 (01:42:33):
Well, yeah, I mean, I got no issue with with
people are gonna throw tomatoes at the radio right now,
and I get it right, hot take.

Speaker 5 (01:42:40):
I got no issue with the Cubs.

Speaker 6 (01:42:41):
I have no issue with the Cubs.

Speaker 3 (01:42:43):
Now, Cubs fans on the other hand, that category.

Speaker 5 (01:42:49):
I just I've had two just absolute miserable.

Speaker 6 (01:42:53):
Experiences that Ricky tell us more.

Speaker 5 (01:42:57):
No, I'm going to leave it at that. But I've
had just two absolutely miserable experience.

Speaker 2 (01:43:02):
That's what I've been.

Speaker 6 (01:43:04):
Acting like, you know what. But yeah, I'll just leave
it there. I'll just leave it there.

Speaker 1 (01:43:08):
You in the mood for any any voice imitations.

Speaker 6 (01:43:11):
Today, don't? I don't know, should I be?

Speaker 2 (01:43:16):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:43:16):
We've just gotten some requests from some listeners. I'm just
curious of you. We're in the mood.

Speaker 6 (01:43:22):
I mean, I'll get in the mood for you, Jeff,
I'll always get in the mood.

Speaker 1 (01:43:26):
Well, you have no idea how long that is going
to live on. David wants a prediction.

Speaker 2 (01:43:37):
Ask Jeff, when's the last time you've heard that? But
I don't know. After that text message to you received
yesterday from the old picture from old Tracy there, it's
not too long ago.

Speaker 1 (01:43:46):
David wants once a Don Fisher call of Anthony Richardson
to Tyler Warren.

Speaker 7 (01:43:55):
Oh, okay, all right, you know, putting me on a
spot here. All right, let's go, all right, give me
a situation here the third down and we're in the
red zone where we at.

Speaker 3 (01:44:03):
Oh, it's gotta be like eight seconds to go fourth
and gold.

Speaker 2 (01:44:07):
Ay, Sad, that is excellent, excellent work him.

Speaker 6 (01:44:11):
Yeah, it doesn't take much, Devin. That's that's the key.
Doesn't take much.

Speaker 7 (01:44:16):
Eight seconds ago the ball game in Indianapolis Colts football
and they're out of timeouts here in sign of the
red zone. I almost said Indiana, but it's Indianapolis Colts football.

Speaker 6 (01:44:27):
And now Richardson lines up in the shotgun.

Speaker 7 (01:44:30):
The balls on the left hash two receivers go to
the left side, three go to the right, look to
the far Tyler Warren split out wire to the right.
Shotgun snaffed to Richardson, plants of the pocket, throws right
corner of the end zone. The pylon throws it up
for Taylor. Warck got it, cuts down, cut down, Indianapolis.

Speaker 6 (01:44:50):
Fashion.

Speaker 7 (01:44:51):
Knock off the Denver Broncos twenty eight to twenty four.

Speaker 6 (01:44:54):
This bullgame.

Speaker 1 (01:44:56):
Uh, excellent work, excellent.

Speaker 3 (01:44:59):
You just got You've got the blue p right back
unreal by Matt Taylor.

Speaker 1 (01:45:05):
That's how you finish it off right now.

Speaker 8 (01:45:06):
That was great.

Speaker 3 (01:45:07):
That was better than the bolts into practice yesterday.

Speaker 5 (01:45:10):
Throw it up to your.

Speaker 6 (01:45:10):
Best player and let him go to work.

Speaker 5 (01:45:12):
I like it.

Speaker 6 (01:45:12):
That's my play call in that situation.

Speaker 5 (01:45:14):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (01:45:15):
Excellent, good job out of you, man, Have a great evening,
great rest of the day and end of the evening,
and enjoy the game tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (01:45:21):
Well, now I don't know what I'm supposed to do
because now I'm in the mood. So let's just keep
going off the air. I'm just going to be doing this,
you know, you know, to whoever is going to listen
for the rest of them.

Speaker 5 (01:45:32):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (01:45:33):
We'll give you a Cambinen interception next week. How about that?

Speaker 7 (01:45:37):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (01:45:37):
I like it, all right, buddy, have a good one,
all right, see you guys. He's the one and only
Matt Taylor. He's the best flute best so so good boy.

Speaker 2 (01:45:46):
Any football? What week from is it? A week from?

Speaker 5 (01:45:49):
Two weeks from tomorrow?

Speaker 3 (01:45:50):
Got coming up?

Speaker 2 (01:45:51):
Two weeks from tomorrow?

Speaker 1 (01:45:54):
Got high school football starting next week?

Speaker 3 (01:45:56):
You got to figure out which game I'm going to.
What do you think you're talking to? Gregman Ago?

Speaker 1 (01:46:01):
What are you thinking?

Speaker 3 (01:46:01):
Yeah, I just I gotta figure it out.

Speaker 1 (01:46:02):
Okay, Well, I got maybe two or three on your mind.

Speaker 3 (01:46:06):
I mean Lawrence North Lawrence Central's always good when I
think Lawrence is probably gonna smoke them because they've been
so good. So the rivalry might not be as good
this year. But like I said, I got gotta do
some exploring on John harrell dot Net. Shout out to
John Harrel, the legend.

Speaker 1 (01:46:19):
All right, let's check things down Mark Dyton, and we'll
try to get a traffic update for you tomorrow's football game.
After that.

Speaker 3 (01:46:27):
Oh, there's here he is right now, walking in with
some purpose, just in time.

Speaker 1 (01:46:33):
Matt Bear, who is our traffic guru most of the
time over there at WIBC.

Speaker 2 (01:46:37):
We can go from one legend to another.

Speaker 1 (01:46:39):
Just walked in the studio and Matt, we we may
have a traffic problem at one o'clock kickoff tomorrow, do
we not? We may have several what's going on?

Speaker 3 (01:46:49):
Goodness?

Speaker 1 (01:46:50):
Just so people know how are they going to be
able to get to the game tomorrow?

Speaker 8 (01:46:53):
My best way to get to the game tomorrow is
take seventy and then take the Meridian or were Street exit.
Because here's what we're doing, guys, northbound sixty five to
I'm trying not to talk traffic. I just got off
the here sixty five going north on the Sound side
is going to be closed, and that's a very important
corridor if you're going to colts games on Sundays. Okay,

(01:47:14):
this is from four sixty five up to the south split,
and that whole corridor is going to be shut down
beginning tonight at nine pm until six am Monday morning.
So if you're coming up from Greenwood, or you're coming
up from Tarat wherever else you might be coming from Louisville,
I don't know, northbound sixty five. Once you hit that
four to sixty five interchange, you're going to be diverted

(01:47:36):
to four sixty five choice and you're gonna have options
from there.

Speaker 1 (01:47:39):
Okay.

Speaker 8 (01:47:39):
Now, you can always come up on Madison Avenue, but
keep in mind Madison Avenue is under construction and it's
down to one lane going north from Pleasant Run up
to downtown.

Speaker 2 (01:47:50):
So the reroute is construction.

Speaker 8 (01:47:53):
Two, leave yourself plenty of room tomorrow when you come
to the game, okay, because there's.

Speaker 3 (01:47:59):
One more thing.

Speaker 1 (01:47:59):
Do you guys to one other thing here? Course?

Speaker 5 (01:48:01):
Okay.

Speaker 8 (01:48:01):
West Street is down to one lane from Maryland up
to I sixty five, So when you're coming in safe
from the northwest side, coming down from eleven and whatever
you might be doing, and you peel off on the
West Street that's gonna be under construction as well. So
I'm stressing maybe not so much Indy five hundred rules
tomorrow where you get up at four am and come

(01:48:22):
to the game, but maybe just leave a little bit
earlier than what you normally do, because you could get
in it if you're in the wrong part of the city.

Speaker 2 (01:48:29):
Right now, should we Washington Street it up?

Speaker 8 (01:48:31):
Like?

Speaker 2 (01:48:31):
Are we around the Zoo area?

Speaker 5 (01:48:33):
Is that not?

Speaker 3 (01:48:34):
Washington Street's gonna be okay.

Speaker 8 (01:48:36):
There is one bridge over at Eagle Creek on the
west side that's shut down right now, but Washington Street's
going to be okay, uh for the most part now
on the east side that's under construction. Around the Irvington area,
you're going to see to get a bike basically, yeah, yeah,
get a bike, You get a bike, chopper.

Speaker 2 (01:48:56):
Scooter it up.

Speaker 3 (01:48:57):
Yeah, the sitter's going to be popular tomorrow. But that's
what I have guys.

Speaker 8 (01:49:01):
It's basically it's been a year since you've come into
a home game for the Indianapolis Colts and things have
changed dramatically.

Speaker 3 (01:49:09):
Is it gonna get debt or by the regular season.

Speaker 8 (01:49:12):
No, not necessarily, because this construction on Medicine Avenue, in
this construction zone on I sixty five won't be finished
until the end of next year. It is a comprehensive project,
and all these are going to either ad lanes or
take lanes away from these particular roads.

Speaker 1 (01:49:27):
So it's going to be a minute. So you're telling us,
just get used to it. Just get used to it.
Yeah for now.

Speaker 2 (01:49:31):
I hate to say it, guys, I hate to say,
but that's what it is for the moment.

Speaker 1 (01:49:34):
All right. So is there a place that can go
online just to double check their routes tomorrow? Maybe?

Speaker 8 (01:49:39):
Absolutely. You can follow me at WYBC Traffic. You can
also google the I sixty nine I sixty five Safety
and Efficiency Project, okay, because that'll keep you up on
the idea is sixty five step. I also use five
eleven for road construction. If you really want to plan
out your rounte, and I suggest you do, you can
go to five eleven dot org and they'll get you
straightened out.

Speaker 1 (01:50:00):
For coming in. Buddy. Appreciate having that, Guys, really appreciate it.
Uh yeah, it's gonna be uh man, just get there early.
Plan on getting there.

Speaker 3 (01:50:08):
You might make a kick that was a nice detailed
way to put it, but certainly waked up a little
bit earlier, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:50:13):
All right, now we'll check things down now that we
got the really important stuff out of the way, the.

Speaker 3 (01:50:18):
Morning checkdown on ninety sweet five and one seven five.

Speaker 1 (01:50:23):
All right, one o'clock tomorrow, preseason game number two, Green
Bay Packers at Logan Soil. They'll probably be okay as
they get busted in there. Uh, we've been talking about
the quarterback battle and it'll be Daniel Jones getting the start,
but not for long tomorrow, right James.

Speaker 3 (01:50:37):
Yes, they will pivot at least that remains the plan
to Anthony Richardson for most of the remaining first half.
So we'll see how the quarterbacks look. And I think
it's another big a value wish here for both.

Speaker 1 (01:50:49):
Kevin anything in particular, you're gonna be looking for tomorrow
outside the.

Speaker 2 (01:50:52):
Quarterbacks, man, I guess kick her a little Spencer s
Trader miss one from thirty three yesterday, which is not good.
I don't think we're back to a true fifty to
fifty competition, but maybe something to keep an eye on.
And then your defensive starters will play at quarter now
again Green Bay is going to play backups, So like yesterday,
I think you want to see the Colts be the

(01:51:12):
superior unit there. Malik Willis looks pretty pretty bad and
the Colts had some doing with that. So those would
be some other items to watch.

Speaker 1 (01:51:20):
All right, one o'clock tomorrow afternoon kick. If you're listening
on the radio, our coverage begins at ten am here
at ninety three five and one O seven to five
fan talking about scheduling. The Indiana Pacers had their full
schedule release yesterday. Nine games they're calling nationally televised games,
but manually available yet nationally available asters Amazon, Peacock. They

(01:51:43):
will open up on a true nationally televised game. I
guess even you got to have ESPN to watch that
first one though, against the Oklahoma City.

Speaker 2 (01:51:49):
Now that we'll be on FANDOR will also be on
fandle up in the air whether that will be available
on FANDUE. I think there are some thoughts that it
won't be b S ESPN. I think is always with
the NBA done, you can watch that on your local outlets.

Speaker 1 (01:52:02):
All right, So we look forward to that. The Milwaukee
Bucks and Miles Turner come to town on the third
of November. Anything else, you're really looking forward to seeing
what the schedule being released yesterday, James, I see they have.

Speaker 3 (01:52:13):
An NBC game. This is way late in the season
against Minnesota April seventh, and so I'm excited for that
because I did not experience the NBC NBA era and
people told me I missed out and you know, get
some nice throwback feels from that. You hit round ball
rock kitting just missing Marv Albert. I listened to Carmelo

(01:52:34):
Anthony talk about this on his podcast. I was like,
I have never heard a round about rock in my life.
You've heard the song, You'll know when you hear it.
I remember mat Rashod. I remember he used to do
a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:52:41):
Of playing during the Olympics.

Speaker 4 (01:52:43):
Yeah yeah, yes, yeah yeah, And you knew you were
in for a good game, like it didn't even matter
if that game actually ended up stinking.

Speaker 3 (01:52:52):
You heard that song. I'm in the zone now. Well
that's what I'm trying to look forward to.

Speaker 5 (01:52:55):
I like it. Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:52:56):
Speaking of basketball, Tonight, Fieldhouse will host the Indiana Fever
and the Washington Mystic. It'll be game number twelve. That
is missed by Caitlin Clark, and they're they're still kind
of hanging in there in the playoff run. They have
lost three of their last four. They can try to
get a chance to turn it around tonight seven thirty
year time Here on the Fans seven point fifteen with
Eddie Garrison and the pregame show. In Major League Baseball,

(01:53:18):
the Cubs losing to the Toronto Blue Jays yesterday, but Kevin,
even though the Reds didn't play, they did advance in
the wild card standings because the Mets lost again to
the Atlanta Braves.

Speaker 2 (01:53:28):
Half game separates the final wildcard spot that would be
the Mets from the Reds. Yes, the Mets have been
horrific lately and that makes me happy. And Mark dykedon
you have wish washed all day. Are you a Reds fan?

Speaker 5 (01:53:39):
Are you not?

Speaker 2 (01:53:40):
This aga again?

Speaker 3 (01:53:41):
Prove it to me, show it so you're only a
fan if they win. I mean that's a safe face.

Speaker 4 (01:53:45):
Leason of the I've ever heard you declare it now,
Either you're a fan or you're not. This is like
you with the Mondos. Help me, help you, help me
root for the Reds by winning. If you're not gonna win,
then what good are you for me?

Speaker 3 (01:53:56):
Nothing?

Speaker 2 (01:53:57):
Your Mondo effort reminisced the Colts offense Indianapolis.

Speaker 4 (01:54:00):
Indian's got a nice nine to six victory over Stratton
by the way to get back in the win columns.

Speaker 3 (01:54:04):
That was good for them.

Speaker 1 (01:54:05):
They are in the lead for their division in the
second half of the International League. They are a few
games buying, four games back in the International League overall,
but they are leading their division. So they got that
going on. Yep, all right, anything else you guys want
to throw in? I know you were watching some golf
last night, Kevin Bowen.

Speaker 2 (01:54:22):
Do I do one more nerdy golf?

Speaker 3 (01:54:23):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (01:54:24):
I'm giving you a chance to.

Speaker 3 (01:54:25):
Shout out to the legend Jacob mod Leski, the pride
of pebble Brook, the Pride of Garon, the greatest athlete ever.

Speaker 2 (01:54:32):
To come from Theodore garn High School, the pride of
Notre Dame. In the Elite eight at the US Amateur
out at the Olympic Club. If he wins two matches
just too, he heads to the Masters. If he wins
all three and wins the US Amateur, he will be
paired with Roy McElroy in the Masters. It is the
most illustrious college amateur junior golf title that is out there.

(01:54:55):
Tiger Woods won three in a row at one point
in his career. Jacob Modlusky, the son of an Air
Force pilot, out there, try to get it done.

Speaker 1 (01:55:02):
I love it. Why you make it happen?

Speaker 3 (01:55:04):
Because you gave me more than I ever thought i'd get.

Speaker 2 (01:55:06):
Well, let's get locked in. Let's go. You coming over
tonight to watch?

Speaker 1 (01:55:10):
Am I being invited?

Speaker 3 (01:55:12):
Clip this whole thing.

Speaker 2 (01:55:13):
Invitation's open?

Speaker 1 (01:55:14):
All right, let's go.

Speaker 3 (01:55:15):
I'll bring I'll bring you a six pack.

Speaker 1 (01:55:16):
What do you want?

Speaker 2 (01:55:17):
Well, I honestly, when I'm watching Jacob, it's all water.
So it's all kind of firewater whatever the old city
water provides.

Speaker 1 (01:55:27):
All right, Well, we'll talk about it during the break.
It's uh, take a look at the Indiana Fever in
their game tonight against the Washington Mystics. We'll do that
next year. At ninety three five and one o seven
five The Fan.

Speaker 3 (01:55:46):
You were listening to a fan morning show on ninety
one seven five The Fan. You know this song James Boyd,
I do round Ball Rock?

Speaker 2 (01:55:59):
Do you know the Nelly remix?

Speaker 5 (01:56:01):
I do know?

Speaker 1 (01:56:03):
Why is this in your memory?

Speaker 6 (01:56:04):
Back?

Speaker 2 (01:56:05):
I must ask, by the way, how about Nelly and
jaw Rule last night at clips? How was I not
informed of this? And why was I not there?

Speaker 3 (01:56:12):
The fact that you brought up a jaw Rule concert
is hilarious.

Speaker 6 (01:56:15):
Five.

Speaker 3 (01:56:15):
Yes, there was I not there. There's a trend on
TikTok right now. Oh people will call their significant other
and say, hey, you want to go to jaw Rule
concert and they will like basically laugh them out of
the building.

Speaker 2 (01:56:26):
Oh, I would have been under the awning there. I
mean that day or on maybe posted job Rule concert,
Jos Rule and Nelly.

Speaker 3 (01:56:33):
Yes, of course the Nelly part is doing a lot
of carrying right now because joh Ruled by himself shout out,
were going to be there because I'm not showing up.

Speaker 2 (01:56:43):
Shout out to my brother in law, Matt Lovers. So
his birthday, his great wife Claire giving him birthday tickets.

Speaker 3 (01:56:49):
To jaw Rule and Nelly. I can't think of a
better thing tickets to joh Rule and Nelly for my birthday.
I'll be looking at her like, well, hold on, stop,
do you of me disrespect? It's a white elephant gift?

Speaker 4 (01:57:03):
Why did you win this birthday gift of the years.

Speaker 1 (01:57:08):
Well, we know how to take care of him next time.

Speaker 2 (01:57:12):
The final second? Can we get some jaw rule to
end the end? Something, says our fifteen year Taylor Right there.

Speaker 1 (01:57:26):
We've been dabbling in the text line all morning long,
and we were talking a little bit about some of
the great events with Greg Reigshaw that have come to
Indianapolis and the fact that hey start connecting dots and
maybe there's a live golf tournament coming to the Brickyard
at some point soon, Kevin Bowen, But uh, Texter thought
might be late to ask ask this question, but what
are y'all or Greg's thoughts on having an annual regular

(01:57:48):
season Major League Baseball game at I M S. And
you guys think it's doable or feasible, certainly have the space,
but I don't know major League Baseball game at IMS?
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (01:58:00):
keV Well, I am all for any and all ideas.
I think I've said college Bowl game before in the
middle of IMS. You know, obviously daytime would be needed there.
And then at Bristol they ran into a major concession
issue that was correct. So are we just letting people
bring in their own food because you know in the
infield it's obviously difficult to get to the concessions.

Speaker 1 (01:58:22):
That are at I am.

Speaker 3 (01:58:24):
So it's like, well, that's a good point, and then.

Speaker 6 (01:58:27):
Like what do you do?

Speaker 2 (01:58:27):
I mean, where are you playing this game? Where are
you making the baseball field just on the golf course?

Speaker 1 (01:58:32):
Man, you have to have some you have to put
it in one of the turns just to have available
seats somewhere.

Speaker 5 (01:58:38):
Wouldn't you.

Speaker 1 (01:58:41):
Have a lot of I mean, I just.

Speaker 6 (01:58:45):
Figure it out.

Speaker 2 (01:58:46):
Like I'm like trying to picture you got a dirt
track in one turn.

Speaker 3 (01:58:51):
There. It sounds like a logistical nightmare.

Speaker 2 (01:58:53):
I mean again, I think you know, seemingly when we
have Doug Bulls on, you know, he's so gracious for
his time with us. I feel like once a year
I'm always asking him, all right, what's the craziest to them?
What's the idea? You know, isn't there like a Winter
Classic rumor been thrown around and you know all of
that stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:59:07):
So I'm all for I kind of like to see feel.

Speaker 2 (01:59:11):
The dreams go back, honestly for baseball.

Speaker 3 (01:59:14):
Yeah, that was cool.

Speaker 2 (01:59:16):
The Williamsport game.

Speaker 4 (01:59:18):
Yeah, I think that's actually Sunday. Yeah, I was watching
a little bit big Dumper is going to be in town. Yeah, really,
it's gonna be the Mariners.

Speaker 1 (01:59:27):
H that's a little League World Cheries is going on
right now. I watched a little bit of it.

Speaker 4 (01:59:32):
Last Sunday night game. So Big Dumper is gonna be
getting all the kids in the out of their seats
like it.

Speaker 1 (01:59:38):
I got the Fever coming up tonight seven point thirty.
Airtime is seven to fifteen with the pregame show Eddie
Garrison here, they'll be taking on the Washington mystics. Time
for our drive, Hubler Keys to the game tonight, James Boyd,
what do you think the Fever need to do to
get this victory this evening?

Speaker 2 (01:59:52):
All right?

Speaker 3 (01:59:52):
So coach Boyd checking in. Listen up people. They lost
at one point the other night from to the Wings.
That was frustrat They had eighteen turnovers that led to
twenty seven points for the Wings, who will get only
one by one point in that game. So take care
of the basketball. You cannot have eighteen turnovers, obviously, you
certainly can't have a team scoring nearly thirty points off

(02:00:13):
those turnovers. So if you want to get back in
the wing column, that to me is the biggest key
one of the biggest keys to the game against the Mystics.

Speaker 2 (02:00:21):
Shout out to Ties Auto right now on Keystone. Jake
Querry says he's in there and they've got the show
playing overhead. No, I love this ike. You had a
Ties out of there. Hopefully the Query vehicles getting fixed.
They really appreciate that. Yeah, jamesbo Echo, certainly that. And
it didn't feel like we got a Kitlyn Clark up
date yesterday.

Speaker 3 (02:00:43):
So I just are you getting worried?

Speaker 2 (02:00:47):
Three and a half weeks? Am I right here? Four
and a half weeks?

Speaker 3 (02:00:50):
We want to say it's been almost exactly a month.

Speaker 2 (02:00:53):
I would say, how much is left in the regular season?
So ninth is their final regular season game, so we're
less than a month away. Would think you need at
least a week of practice, correct, maybe two?

Speaker 1 (02:01:04):
Get twenty five days ago, So if you need two.

Speaker 2 (02:01:06):
Weeks of practice, that leaves you just a couple of
regular season games before she were to get back. So yeah,
it just the calendar start shrinking real quick here, and yeah,
her miss time is now approaching a full month.

Speaker 3 (02:01:20):
It is a full month. Literally todayfteenth is a full
month into last week.

Speaker 2 (02:01:24):
I remember how fluky of a play. That was the
backdoor passed to Kelsey Mitchell.

Speaker 3 (02:01:27):
I know, man, I was watching.

Speaker 1 (02:01:29):
It makes you wonder, though, if all that stuff was
related to the earlier injury and then compensating for that
and all that kind of stuff. Anyway, Keys of the
Game brought to you by the Huber Automotive Group. Check
out your next car at drive Hubler dot com, Indiana's
giant automotive group. Coming up in a moment. Plans for
the weekend. There's a lot going on, a lot to
get through, and more music coming from Mark. How come

(02:01:51):
you're not up out of your seat like James.

Speaker 2 (02:01:53):
Boyd Well, I'm not trying to make a fourth baby
over here anytime soon.

Speaker 3 (02:01:58):
John Roy Jo Role's boy really does it for you
in the house last week Indianapolis shot he can we
give him some love?

Speaker 5 (02:02:09):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (02:02:09):
The lady there, well, she's the one that makes the
song well to some people.

Speaker 3 (02:02:15):
Signing up for fire Festival?

Speaker 1 (02:02:16):
Are you more free side of Jo Rule? There?

Speaker 2 (02:02:19):
Boy, I'm jealous of people that were at Nellie and
Joe Rule last night.

Speaker 3 (02:02:22):
I'm just people that were at Nelly you were watching
really bothered down the Joe Rule hill.

Speaker 2 (02:02:27):
Think about what we had up there in our northern
Hamilton County suburb. Last night we had a great joint practice.
We got live golf and we got Nellie and joh Rul.

Speaker 3 (02:02:34):
Wasn't John Rule involved like the fire festival scandal?

Speaker 5 (02:02:38):
Was he?

Speaker 1 (02:02:39):
I'm proved I think he wasn't. I don't think he
was one of the parties.

Speaker 2 (02:02:42):
To blame though, was I need to watch that again
that that thing.

Speaker 3 (02:02:46):
Yes, he was certainly a big party to blame. Yes,
was involved in this? Oh yes, Oh yes.

Speaker 2 (02:02:51):
I feel there's a there's a lot of bland there.

Speaker 3 (02:02:53):
The event was organized by him and Billy McFarland. And
if you ever tell me I did a deal with
a guy named Billy McFarland, please check. That sounds like
a scam in the making.

Speaker 2 (02:03:02):
Well, I need a halftime show for job rolling. Noll
anymow uh love is real for you.

Speaker 3 (02:03:08):
I didn't realize it was this deep.

Speaker 1 (02:03:10):
People want to know where you're watching your golf tonight, Kevin.

Speaker 2 (02:03:13):
Golf channel Baby right with six to seven and then
Golf Channel seven to nine for Lord made Letsky.

Speaker 1 (02:03:19):
There you go, and everybody knows this. Everybody knows this.
Now who's getting the uh is very important? Other people
want to know what infect me. Who's getting the blue
power aid, Well.

Speaker 3 (02:03:31):
It's got to be Kevin. Sounds like Matt Taylor wasn't
getting it.

Speaker 4 (02:03:33):
He was fair, he did. He did take a slight
at the comes to the end, but I could get it.
He had some idiot fans by him, so the minority.

Speaker 3 (02:03:40):
Again, Look, if you're in studio and you're being denied, I.

Speaker 2 (02:03:43):
Have a look confused. Why Mark brought it in and
then didn't drink it for three hours? Now it's lukewarm.

Speaker 3 (02:03:49):
Maybe what are you saving it for? I just didn't
get to it.

Speaker 4 (02:03:52):
I have it just in case I like finished the
coffee or the coffee's not sitting well. It just helps rehydrate,
so I let it sit there. So maybe you know,
just refrigerated again, getting nice from some frosty bringing on
Monday again another bowl you can try to reach for.

Speaker 3 (02:04:03):
You have never sounded like more of my mom than
you did right there, Confusing that that woman can save
things with the best of them.

Speaker 1 (02:04:11):
Thumperware.

Speaker 3 (02:04:12):
No, I mean like just anything that she ever like
eats or drinks, it'll be in the fridge. Like if
I go home, she'll have a lemonade from like culvers
that will be in there for like two days, and
my dad will go to drinking and she'll actually get
mad and be like, well that's mine and I'm still
waiting to drink it at the right time. This one,
we went to Long's Donuts when she was here, and indeed,
and uh it was like thrown on the south side
for those who are you know, being picky, And she

(02:04:35):
ate one of her glazed yeast donuts in the car,
but she saved the apple freder I believe for back
home romeovill and ate it like a day later, and
I'm like, why did you wait that long? How could
you wait that long? That's how she is. That's how
Mark sounds right now. Three kids, you gotta survive in
advance and save everything you can. I gonna say, if
they were around, Nora was in here right now, her

(02:04:57):
talking to be blue right now, because she would have
she would have certain he chugged it.

Speaker 1 (02:05:01):
So Kevin, tonight you got golf and then fever is
that what's going on at your house? To see him?
You're gonna do something else with.

Speaker 2 (02:05:06):
It might be a two screen night.

Speaker 3 (02:05:08):
I like that three because he's watched jaw Rule videos
on the other morning. Yes, job said that would be
a great We got to raise the standard.

Speaker 2 (02:05:19):
Danny Goes. I went to a Nelly concert of the
Vogue about ten years ago. He didn't show up till
one thirty. A m sang five songs and left. I'll
never forget. I think it was chain Smokers and flow
Rider at he.

Speaker 1 (02:05:32):
Was on top for a while, called terrific.

Speaker 2 (02:05:36):
I think it was Revel Downtown. Uh, flow Riders wearing
a Jalen Rose jersey. I swear Chainsmokers didn't come on
till two thirty.

Speaker 3 (02:05:46):
Nelly songs were bangers, though, every single one of them.

Speaker 2 (02:05:49):
Nell, he's got more than five.

Speaker 3 (02:05:52):
No, he was saying, if you five, yeah, yeah, you know,
fire them all.

Speaker 2 (02:05:57):
You're getting ride with me. Shake your tail feather hot
and here hot in hair with.

Speaker 1 (02:06:02):
Kevin because the shirt will be flying off right the middle.

Speaker 3 (02:06:05):
I would showing those washboard apps.

Speaker 2 (02:06:08):
I would have had my little band aid on.

Speaker 1 (02:06:14):
Well, you do dress the part. There's nothing wrong with that.
I do like the uh. I don't know if people
can see it on the YouTube channel, but most people can't.
The throwback Indianapolis five hundred half growbacks fantastic.

Speaker 2 (02:06:24):
Call this color mustard yellow, Yeah, mustard.

Speaker 1 (02:06:26):
Yellow with a little braided thing across the top of
the captin.

Speaker 2 (02:06:30):
Yeah, little throwback Indy five hundred hat, James Boyd, what
do you want to see tomorrow at one o'clock. Let's
start with the quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (02:06:39):
I guess, Anthony Richardson, more than six naps, that is
the number one priority for me in all seriousness, Just
play even if it isn't all that great. At least
I can evaluate something because six naps from last week
was obviously not a big enough sample size. And then
beyond that, as you talked about throughout the show, Anthony Richardson,

(02:06:59):
can you make the check down? I thought yesterday Kevin
he missed a lot of the routine throws that he
had been making throughout training camp. He had won in
the flat to DJ Giddons. That should have been a
walk in touchdown in the red zone and through it
way off target and it was an incompletion in the year,
just thinking, those are the throws that hold you back
from being a sure fire starter in the NFL. And

(02:07:21):
then for Daniel Jones, can you get a little bit
more explosive? Will you oblige your former teammate Xavier McKinney
and throw the ball down the field just a little bit.
And I'm saying you gotta be reckless. But if for
a guy who I believe hasn't done enough to outright
win the job, do you just kind of go for broken,
you know, a little bit? Or do do you feel
like you need to get a little out of character?

(02:07:42):
Not out of character, but it's a little bit more greedy,
I think. And so those are two things I'm looking
at as far as quarterbacks. And then beyond that, you know,
I think defensively that linebacker group, do you have a
better showing that you had last week?

Speaker 7 (02:07:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:07:54):
I think those are good points. I don't get the
vibe to change. Second once this quarterback competition to continue,
But I e next week, he.

Speaker 3 (02:08:01):
Ain't gonna tell you, Kevin, no matter how many he is.

Speaker 2 (02:08:05):
The kem Batman tumbo to us a lot. But I
part of me's like, does he not have any other choice?

Speaker 5 (02:08:12):
You know?

Speaker 2 (02:08:12):
I asked him, Yes, you're something the effective, like do
you owe it to your team? Like is there any
element of Hey, we probably need our starting offense to
like practice with the guy?

Speaker 3 (02:08:21):
Two different questions A fair question too, But is that.

Speaker 2 (02:08:26):
All of a sudden trying to get the answer to
the question that still remains right now, you know August fifteenth,
and you haven't committed to either one.

Speaker 1 (02:08:34):
It's an old coaching adage that oftentimes you got a
quarterback controversy, the team knows before you do who they
want the quarterback to be, and how they want to
roll and what they feel most comfortable with. I don't
know that even guys on the team can say that
right now. I just want to see somebody grab it
by the tail tomorrow night or tomorrow afternoon and say,
this is my job, watch what I do here. And

(02:08:57):
I just need one of them to do something like
that at some point, not just one drive, but maybe consistence.
In O'Daniel Jones, you said, what gonna play a couple series? Yes,
give me some points, give me some points. Throw the
ball down the field, and Anthony Richardson, if you're getting
a quarter and a half, show me that you're in
control of the offense and that you can move the football.

Speaker 3 (02:09:18):
This sounds like a man who said Ady Mitchell would
have eighty catches. Jeff wants better quarterback play, as do
all Colts fans. I would imagine a man can hope,
cant he you can hope, and so we will see
what happens tomorrow with this hope. And again, my biggest thing,
Anthony Richardson, can you just stay healthy enough to evaluate
not only in the preseason but also throughout the regular

(02:09:39):
season as well.

Speaker 2 (02:09:40):
And again, you are bombed at Green Bay, not gonna
play the starters. So given that the Colts at the
end of the first quarter, midway through the first or
first half, they should definitely be the better team both
sides of the ball.

Speaker 4 (02:09:52):
Welcome to Hell's describe quarterback situation right now?

Speaker 2 (02:10:00):
Exactly what it is you got to say, that's what
terms of a job rule concert.

Speaker 4 (02:10:04):
My goodness, Oh if it's firefest for sure, it sounds
like Matt Taylor going to a Cubs game, right mean,
with my hands up in the fire pit.

Speaker 1 (02:10:11):
All right, everybody, have a great weekend. We'll be on
the air for Colts coverage tomorrow morning at ten, Jake
at noon, jamb at three,
