Speaker 1 (00:00):
Week two Colts training camp. Yes, we are here once again.
That would be Westfield, Indiana, Grand Park, the Complex and
our final two morning shows of the year, our final
two morning practices of the year. During the week. They
still have some weekend morning sessions, but for us in
the fan morning show, this will be at Monday and

(00:20):
Tuesday out here. James Boyd to set up the week
Thursday night practice so the lights will descend upon Westfield, Indiana.
I believe a fireworks show after practice here. I don't
think that's how I describe the Cults quarterback play so
far here through the first four days of camp, and
then Saturday and Sunday. I want to say those are
ten am start times. I probably need to double check that.

(00:41):
But Saturday and Sunday the Colts will go before they
head to Baltimore for a joint practice, and the preseason
opener is just ten days away. Good Monday morning to you, Cam,
thank you and Mark Dyton.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Hello, good morning ten days away, Good morning Mark, how
are you.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
I'm doing great and doing a lot better because I
saw over the weekend. The thing that made me beam
ear to ear was I saw James Boyd signing bucket hats,
which was my goal at training camp, so I was
very happy to see that.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah. Shout out to Nick, a listener of the show.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
He leaned over the railing after practice Saturday and said, hey,
can you sign a bucket hat? And I was like
are you dead serious? And he was like yeah, and
I was like, no, I will not do this. He's like,
come on, so he has I heard about your forty times?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:23):
I went and found borrowed a sharpy from another kid
and signed that autograph. And that was certainly a funny
moment for training camp.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
I just assumed, like other people are like, who's that
guy getting given out autographs? Is he like one of
the undrafted rookies or something? What's happening here?

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Mark?

Speaker 2 (01:40):
You know what's funny?

Speaker 4 (01:41):
So after I signed that autograph, some kid had like
a little football. He's like, hey, can you sign a football?
Because he thought I was famous for something and I'm like, no,
I am trolling because this is not a real thing
at all.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
But he insisted, so I signed the football.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
So I got two autographs in on Saturday, hopefully no
more because I was telling the kid, I'm like, you
do realize this is worth negative money?

Speaker 2 (01:59):
I'm still in debt from college.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Evaluate exactly.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Look at this, there's two of two out there, so
they're extremely rare, so you got.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
To up that quantity.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Now there you go to show up to get some autographs.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Some overcast clouds here in Westfield. I know we got
some overnight rain. He just recently got some rain. We
actually felt a few droplets about ten minutes ago. But
the radar from my very amateur look at it appears
to be okay. So again ten am today and James
Boyd something we'll hit on a lot on this show
to start the week. It is full pad day and
it sounds like a good amount of full pads this week.

(02:32):
We've yet to see that. So I don't know if
you call last week like orientation, but this week almost
is like you go from orientation to like midterms, like
I do feel we get into some pretty truer evaluation moments,
particularly in the trenches, and we'll obviously talk about quarterbacks.
Does that plan still stick with fifty to fifty here

(02:53):
in week two or do we start to see any
internal separation from the coaching staff with Anthony rich and
Daniel Jones.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Absolutely obviously I was out here Saturday, Kevin, I can
fill you in on everything that you and others may
not have seen who were not here in person. But
I was in the building with the old kids. Oh okay, okay, good.
I did not you know, see on the sideline. I
figured it was something to do with the family. But nevertheless,
you did not miss much if you were paying attention
to Max Bull and run the forty instead of paying
attention to the quarterbacks on the field, because it was

(03:21):
ugly if you and far between when it comes to
success for those two. And honestly, it was a rough,
rough day for that offense. And I get to the
defense is supposed to be better, but man, when you're
in the red zone, you can't get anything really going.
That speaks to I think a lot of your quarterback
play perhaps not being or it needs.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
To be well. I think disappointing too. I thought Friday
was such a positive day really for each particularly Richardson,
and it's about stringing days together. And I just thought
when you got into areas of the field where timing
in anticipation is through the roof, I thought both of
them struggled mightily in that area. So now the question
becomes again what is the plan here in week two
for those two? I mean you call either of them

(04:01):
a leader at this point, Like has their ben separation
something we can get on. Who would we like to
if we not liked through the first four days of camp.
So we'll definitely hit on that again Monday and Tuesday mornings,
Thursday night practice, and then Saturday and Sunday. I see
Gritty asking here on the YouTube chat when will Jeff
be back? It sounds like Jeff will be back tomorrow,

(04:21):
So Jeff Record will join us here coming up tomorrow
from Colts training camp. Mark youev a good weekend, very
good weekend.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Parents came down, got some stuff done around the house
and then just got to hang out with the granddaughters
and all that. So they had a good time there,
and boy it was hot, so we were at a
couple of water parks and all that stuff to kind
of cool ourselves off.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
It sounds like today tomorrow we're still going to be
in that. But actually, as the week moves along, that
Thursday night practice looks awesome. If I'm looking at this correctly,
If that is seventy seven degrees, it's gonna feel like
a little week one high school football coming up here
on Thursday.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
I do have a quick question for Mark. How'd you
like that Ian Happ play?

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
I liked it very much.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
I liked it very much. Took two of three against
the White Sox. That was good to see. But are
we talking baseball here?

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Levin? Boy, that was not me. Puff's chest out a
little bit this weekend.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
I just had a kick out of that because I
as the you know, resident non baseball nowhere. I saw
that play and I was like, oh, Mark must love this,
because you know, baseball is the contact for for many reasons,
we usually want to come to the baseball. But seeing
and had run that guy over near third and then
get the run afterwards because the interference call was pretty funny.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Can't be blocking the line man, clear bass path. Let's
go now, White Sox. Mark a lot of Reds audio.
I'm sure you'll have ready for us. Oh, you're knowing
up on the checkdown. Kelsey Mitchell went off yesterday afternoon.
The bucket getter that she is was outstanding and that
went over the Chicago sky. No Chicago pretty banged up, obviously,

(05:53):
still know Caitland Clark for the fever. But James were
talking about it last week, you know, Fever at three
games coming out of the All Star Break VID. You know,
I think especially the home game, you know, on Thursday
against the Aces, but then Sunday as well, considering the
sky and where their situation is right now, really important
to get those because they will be at home Wednesday
and then they will go on the road for five

(06:15):
straight games. And again I don't think the Kaitlyn Clark
returned is eminent by any means. So Kelsey Mitchell up
to her old tricks yesterday. That was close to a
career high, wasn't it thirty five? I think, yeah, thirty
nine maybe career high thirty nine.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
I believe they said on the broadcast that this was
her third or fourth game with thirty five points and
Fever history, and the only other person I believe to
have a thirty five point game was Caitlyn Clark, and
so or Kaitlyn thirty five points five sis, I'm sorry.
So again, that was pretty special stuff from Kelsey Mitchell.
And again they're finding ways to win, which is all

(06:48):
that matters at this point in time.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
The best player at Colt's camp so far has been who.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
That's a very good question. Ooh, that's a good question.
I might go toa Varia's ward. He is locking up
anybody and everything in his area. He looks like he
deserves the money he got.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
I'm not in my head. For those who can't see
it on the YouTube chat, Yeah, that's exactly where I
would have gone. You know, when you hear about him
talk about getting back to the all pro level, you know,
he's been pretty adamant about that, and you know, I
think that's where there's a little push and pull for
me as we sitting on this Monday morning, it's like
they've made some serious investments into the secondary. When you

(07:28):
say serious investments into the secondary, James, you know Loui
Ana Roumo is a part of that. I mean you've
made a serious investment schematically to change what you did
with Gus Bradley to what you're doing now with Adie
Mitchell or with Adie Mitchell guy that hasn't performed very
well here early on to what you're doing now with
lou Anarumo, and to me, that has definitely been a positive. So,

(07:49):
you know, i'd be curious of like some of the
past quarterback play we've seen so far, would it also
have some struggles with this coverage because again it just
general is stickier, more man, more press, and I think
so far, especially those competitive moments. I mean, anytime there's
a fifty to fifty moment, it seems like the Colts
defense is winning that moment absolutely.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
I mean, it's not fifty to fifty.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
Honestly, I think he said it last week, Kevin, it
was like seventy thirty, eighty twenty when it comes to
some of these, yeah, defensive plays. And I actually think
that on top of that, when you look at the
quarterback play and perhaps what needs to change for them
to really take a connect other step, it's you got
to throw a guy open. And that's what these guys
can't do quite frankly, and what I haven't seen them
do throughout camp when they have had chunk plays, I

(08:34):
think it's been a very I don't want to say
easy read, but an obviously for us. You know, I'm saying,
this is a guy who doesn't play quarterback, but nevertheless,
I haven't seen a throw where I'm like, man, that
guy was, you know, draped all over him. That ball
couldn't be put anywhere else. A lot of it is
you know, okay, that was a pretty good play by
the quarterback, but not something where I'm looking at him
like my Homes or Lamar or Matthew Stafford or someone

(08:55):
who's known for putting the ball in a place where
again the guy might not be open because I'm the quarterback,
you're open.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Yeah, throwing guys open. I don't think that's something we
have seen so far really with either quarterback. So we
now will have the full pads coming up today offensive
and defensive lines, we'll certainly get a truer evaluation. We'll
await Ziare Franklin status as well. I think that is
probably something to keep an eye on here. I set
it Friday, and so far they had two practices and

(09:22):
nothing too crazy here. But James, it's easily the healthiest
first week of training camp I've ever seen.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Absolutely.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Again, you look around the rest of the league, I
would argue or venture to argue that they are one of,
if not the only team in the league without someone
on the physically unable to perform list, which is a positive.
And we'll see if others can continue to make progress.
I know of Zaire Franklin doing some individual workofs to
the side throughout some of these practices throughout that first
week of training camp. Can't you get out there at
some point this week and just.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Remind everybody from a not only a tendant standpoint, but
a little bit of payment standpoint, if you're coming out
here to Grand Park these first two practices of the week,
those remain in the free category for attendance. If you
are coming Thursday. I think I have this right. I
believe eighteen and older it's five bucks. Seventeen and under

(10:09):
still free. You do have to pay for parking. So
when they have these morning weekday practices Monday and Tuesday,
you're still in the free boat. Yes, I think it's
like five bucks for parking Thursday. You will pay for
actual admittance into the building here if you will. But again,
seventeen and under our free mark. Are you guys back
to school yet? I remember? I feel like you said,

(10:30):
like late July Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Today tonight is meet the teacher, drop off the school supplies.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
But Wednesday is the first day. I mean, that's kind
of sick in a negative way. It's definitely weird, Like
you can't be going back in July. I mean, we're
we're Monday we're August fourth. It's not like it's anything different.
It's not like it's that different. But that's still the
fact that, like when you walk into the classroom, the
calendar says July. I know it's weird.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
I remember when I thought that pool your calendar, like, wait,
July thirty, that can't be right.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
No, No, do you like the year round?

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Mark?

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Well, I think the girls are ready to go. I
think I think Ashley's ready to get them back into school.
They've been a bit crazy, so I think she's like,
I don't mind it so much now.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
But yeah, it's definitely odd. It's a shock to the system.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
I know I wouldn't have liked it as a kid,
but they don't really know any better because they've never
had it where they go back mid August or anything
like that.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
So again, if you've got kids and they are still
out of school, hopefully that's everybody else. Hopefully the earliest
is July thirtieth. Couldn't encourage more coming out? Here? Are
we our fifteen today?

Speaker 2 (11:33):
James?

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Are we eleven fifteen?

Speaker 4 (11:35):
I can check for you real quick, but I do
know it's over the hour that we had to start
last week. So the first patty practice is going to
get a little steamy.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
Yeah, and again Monday and Tuesday morning, Thursday, the true
night practice eight o'clock start time, day hour, fifteenth hour
and fifteen today, Saturday and Sunday right here at Grand Park.
And then they are off to Baltimore for a joint
practice and one week from Thursday they will play a
preseason football game. I'm Kevin Bowen, James Boyd the other
voice you're hearing here in Westfield. Again, thank you to

(12:06):
Cam on site engineer. He's been outstanding here in our
stay in Westfield. Mark Dyton back end studio, jeff Rickord
back Tomorrow. It is the Fan Morning show right here
ninety three five one oh seven five the Morning Checkdown.

(12:27):
It looks like this. Guys are clearing here in Westfield.
Ten am the start time, full pads on for the
Cults morning practice today and tomorrow before the night practice
on Thursday. Some fireworks literally uh post practice coming up
here on Thursday. Would they be in the Indiana Knight's
helmets at least I could get behind that. I kind

(12:48):
of like those Indiana Nights uniforms, but I'm usually a
sucker for the alternate unis let's begin over at sixteenth
in Georgetown overtime and NASCAR always makes me a little
stressful here. But Bubba Wallace gets it done yesterday. I
thought the emotion really really cool. I thought him and
his son post race, that was an awesome scene on

(13:08):
the art of bricks there as Bubba Wallace ends a
very long, windless drout for him and I guess clinch
is a spot in the playoffs. I know nothing about
the NASCAR and the playoffs. Kyle Larson was your runner up.
I saw Catherine Lake finish top twenty. Unfortunately Chase Brisco
start for the poll to not go great for him.
So shout out to Bubba Wallace getting it done and out.

(13:29):
In Laguna Seka, it was Alex Palow win number eight.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
How about time on the year.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
They flash up a graphic late in that I actually
might have been after the race. It's an average finish
at Laguna Seca in his career is one point.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
So okay, that's crazy. It's like a great era in baseball.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
I'm like, what I mean. You can't finish zero, you
can't finish negative. Alex Pelow's unbelievable season continues. Christian Lounging
Guard's had a nice year, five podium finishes, the runner up,
Colton Hurd a third there, and James Boyd Let's go
up to the Windy City. It was the Fever behind
a huge, huge scoring output from honestly a banged up

(14:09):
Kelsey Mitchell. Are a couple times in that game, I'm like,
wait a minute, is she out ready to check out
for a little bit of a year? But she goutted it
out and just incredible by one of the best scores
in the WNBA. Yeah, I'm looking right now. She is one, two,
three four.

Speaker 4 (14:22):
She has four of the top five scoring outputs from
Fever players in the franchise's history, Kaylyn Clark being the
other one tie with her at thirty five points. So yeah,
Kelsey Mitchell can light it up. And I asked the
question you actually on Twitter? Can she or should she
have her jersey in the rafters someday? I'm not sure
if the winning aspect will certainly play a factor in that,

(14:44):
but she is someone who should go down in French's
history for sure.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Oh yeah, that's a big question. But yeah she I mean, hell,
she's the best score pure score probably in franchise history. Absolutely,
so seven to ten. I believe she was from behind
the arc again, very important for the Fever to get
that one. The Chicago Sky banged up home Wednesday with
the Mercury and then on the road for five in
a row. And we'll see if Kaitlyn Clark gets back
to practice at all this week. Mark Titan, there's no

(15:09):
hotter team in baseball, So go ahead and play the audio.
I know I've been thinking about it all weekend long.
I'm sure you were up late last night thinking about
a red smashup. So I will leave the floor to you.
Don't look now, but here come the Red legs. Thank you, Mark,
that's a skit. That's it, Thank you, that's it. Is

(15:30):
that not gonna happen at eight twenty and nine to
twenty either? Oh maybe I'll play it again.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Maybe gotta beig on your best behavior, thought her.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Cubs got a big one coming up.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Oh yeah, big three game series. Joel Erickson joining us
at nine, and he and I are going to be fighting,
I think later, because it is a big three game series.
Cubs Brewers, big one, big one, big one tonight.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Where are the standings right now? I believe they are tied.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
If I'm not mistaken, I think because the Brewers won
and the Cubs there, let's see, I know the forty
three red, six and a half games back of both teams.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Boy, that is big time here coming up in the
Central here, gosh, I mean, it's been a while probably
since the n Central winner as the best team in
the NL. But right now one game lead or a
half game lead over the Mets. What else in this weekend? Boy,
did you guys watch? I mean again, I'm really grassman
straws here, James Boyd, I saw your tweet and said
you were watching a movie last night, So maybe not,

(16:29):
but the TBT had a wild so fail harder is
this team that's again made up of a lot of
like I guess lower level Indianapolis prospects from a collegiate standpoint,
a lot of you Indie flavor on that roster, Darius Adams.
So again, let's start here, we do the elam ending
in the TBT, and so they're in English terms, is

(16:53):
there's a target score? Do you you stop keeping track
of time about midway a little past midway in the
four fourth quarter, and it's like playing a pickup game.
You've got to get to eleven, you've got to get
to twenty one. Whatever your pickup game is. So I
want to say it was eighty six sixty six. They
were down when the target score was set at ninety four,

(17:13):
So the other team needed eight points and they needed
twenty eight points to get to the target score and fail.
Harder came back. They probably had I don't know, five
possessions with a chance to win the game, literally win
the game. It was some of the best and worst
basketball you've ever seen by both teams and trying to
get to that ninety fourth point. Unfortunately for them on

(17:35):
an offensive rebound put back, they did not get to
that level. But Darius Adams was incredible. For you, Indy
Plea scored like forty four. Should say, yeah, he was,
And there are probably times where it was like, you know,
they were trying to play hero ball with him. It's like, man,
if you could run just a semblance of offense, maybe
that would help. But they bow out in a quarterfinal
round from yesterday. Anything else on the weekend front for.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
Either of you two, I want to give us out
out to the Fevers News signed players it Chloe Baby.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Any relation to Mike that was my first though.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
I was thinking she was in Chicago. I don't think
she was a Chicago So is the relations to a
little baby the rapper, But no, I don't think that
that is a relations But she got off the bench,
I thought yesterday and gave him some good minutes.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Obviously the scoring helps as well.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
And shouts to Mikaela Timpson, the rookie out of Florida
State Pleased Press.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
She's really carved and earned a role. With the Dwana
Bonner situation playing out, they've kind of needed someone else
and I think she's kind of fit that role. I
thought she was really good yesterday. She's so athletic off
the bench for her and that's just important, I think
for the friend. You know, it's not like you can
just do the one year song and dance they've done
with guys. Here are a lot of these girls here

(18:44):
this coming season. All right. On the other side, what
what are we not like so far from Colt's training camp?
How do you envision week two with a whole lot
of full padded sessions coming at you. We will hit
it hard of Colt's training camp. On the other side,
it's Kevin Bowen and James Boyd live here in Westfield.
Well tell the agenda. I think tonight for the Bowen

(19:05):
squad to watch a little Happy Gilmore Too. We got
about five minutes into it over the weekend, I thought
to myself, you know what, no, I don't even want
to watch it. I can't get distracted, you know, neet
the kids in bed to get my full attention here,
Mark Dyton, have you consumed Happy Gilmore Too? Yep.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
We watched it Saturday night and I liked it. I
know a lot of people are saying, wow, this is that.
I'm like, it's Happy Gilmore Too.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
This isn't like Marvel Universe. I don't know where expectations
are here. But it's silly, it's ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
The Star Wars is what you're saying.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
There's obviously some very absurd moments in it. But I
liked it. I liked all the cameos. I thought it
was a very enjoyable two hours.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
It was it was. It was very enjoyable. I think
you will like it.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
With all the golf cameos, there are a million of them,
and there is a bit of a knock at live
golf as the as kind of the main storyline, which
I look at that think you will also very much enjoy.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
I'll get a little feeling in between the legs. Right
now here is Mark Dyton. Scoot over, get out of
the way. I know, I know. Live Golf just a
stone's throw from us right here in a couple of weeks, James,
I'm sure you've seen some of the marketing ads. Yeah,
so drive across one hundred ninety first Street.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
I'm curious about this, Kevin. Will you just go over
to hate watch?

Speaker 1 (20:15):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
Will you just boo them on the way in like
the you know, like the college football players doing the
tunnel and you just stand on the side and go boom.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
I'm like, I'm in that. Wendy's right up using them
as they come off the exit here. Yeah, I don't
think I'll be making an appearance up there. So yeah,
Live Golf at Chatham Hill's for those unfamiliar here in
Westfield in mid August, we are in Westfield. The skies
look to be clearing, and again a full padd of
practice coming up ten am today. Kind of let off
the show with this, James. I don't know if you

(20:44):
call last week like orientation or welcome week. But I
think that's kind of the general feel to week one
of training camp. You don't put the full pads on.
But as we get into this week today, tomorrow, the
morning practice, Thursday of the night practice, it gets realer
and the evaluations become true, you get deeper into the
semester if you want to continue the college analogy with that.
So I am just generally looking forward to a little

(21:07):
bit more of like, all right, day five, day six,
day seven, that guy is still running with this unit,
that guy is still dropping balls, that guy is still
you know, all of those things. I just think provide
a little bit of clarity on that front. Let's begin
with quarterback and just I'll keep it very simple. Through
four days, James, do you think there's been any real

(21:29):
separation between the two. Of course, we've seen fifty to
fifty split so far.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
No, not really, And I can actually back this up.
So according to my unofficial scorekeeping with the help of
Joel A. Ericson from any Starr and Jake Arthur from
Colts SI and locked on Colts Jones is twenty three
of forty one passing through the first four practices.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
This is eleven on eleven work by the.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
Way, so twenty three or forty one passing, one touchdown,
one interception, and then Richardson is nineteen to forty three
with two touchdowns, one interception, and they both have thrown
a pick and seven on seven. So not exactly going
to feel good about those numbers, especially when you know Kevin,
You've covered enough training camps to know that usually the

(22:13):
offense is supposed to have the upper hand. You're supposed
to be able to generate, you know, completions and things
like that, because you're not able to hit, you're not
able to actually have real pressure and things like that.
So to me, I think that that is kind of
alarming to see the completion percentage that low for both,
especially for Daniel Jones supposed to be the efficient guy.
I mean, twenty three or forty one, and that's not
something that's going to move me.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
You think ty would go to Richardson.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Yes, I actually wrote that this morning, and the Athletic
got to do a piece on Monstock risers and stock.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
Falls drafted fourth overall or because of the run element
he brings to the game that is not fully seen
out here.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
I think it's both ty goes to the runner literally,
So in my opinion, there's no incentive to start a
twenty eight year old Daniel Jones in a one year
deal over the twenty three year old Richardson, who is
your highest drafted players and Andrew Luck unless Daniel Jones
is so much better. And as I wrote my piece
this morning for The Athletic, again, we haven't seen any

(23:08):
separation Kevin, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I
think the only day where I felt like one quarterback
definitively outplay the other was Friday. I thought Anthony was
better than Daniel Jones, clearly on Friday. But even then
Saturday comes and they both kind of struggled. So for
Daniel Jones to be in this position, you're not. You
don't have the luxury of being the guy who's been here,
of being the high drafted pick, of being sort of

(23:31):
like our own. You're the new guy, and to come
in as a new guy and win the job, you
have to take their job.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
I don't think he's taking anything so.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Far, blaming on me being the son of two teachers,
blaming on Mark's kids going back to school on Wednesday.
The teaching analogy, the school analogy is kind of fresh
in my brain right now. The Anthony Richardson thought for
me through four days James, he used to not show
up the class, and now he's at least showing up
the class. I don't know if I'm really supposed to

(23:57):
pad him on the back for that.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
I guess he expanded a little bit. What you hean about that.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
I don't think we've seen the egregious misses, particularly early
in practice for those that watch, you know, the routes
versus a or the individual periods. I can remember certainly
as a rookie, and even last year, you would have
I would say, probably four to five balls almost every practice,
where Richardson would just groundball it, he'd airmail it. He'd

(24:21):
hit this net behind the goalpost right here. And I
feel like that number has shrunk a little bit now again.
To me, when I use the analogy, it's like, Wait,
the kid who used to just snooze the alarm all
semester and now he like shows up once every three
days to class. You're like complimenting him. I want to
make it clear. I don't think I like when I

(24:41):
say it out loud, I'm kind of like, should I
have even said that out loud. Does it feel like
I'm just like, you know, is that a real compliment?
I did think Steichen's comments post practice Saturday did stand
out a little bit. You know, generally just asked about
Richardson through the first four days and and he mentioned
that he feels like he's improved from operationally at the

(25:03):
line of scrimmage. And Shane was pretty quick with that answer.
And there's been times where I feel like we've asked,
particularly Jim Bob Cooter about Richardson, and you ask him
to like describe Richardson's performance, and it's like two minutes
of you listened back to the answer, You're like, what
you said? Nothing there? Yeah, Shane said something specific and
something that I think is important to those coaches. Can
you get to the line of scrimmage and can you

(25:25):
handle it in the way in the fashion that we
want to? So is that a positive for Richardson as well?
You know, again, Saturday's practice I thought was just such
a bummer because Friday he had taken a step in
the right direction. Now the question is can you string
it together? Can you do it for a second day
and in an area of the field where quarterbacks get

(25:45):
paid the big bucks. You know, you can all of
a sudden turn three points into seven points in the
red zone, and both guys, if you can show something there,
I think that's a key evaluation point. And both of
them just were frankly awful. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
I'll push back there, Kevin.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
I'm not reading too much into the he's operationally better.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
He should be. It's his third year in this offense.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
But Shane doesn't typically say that, and again.

Speaker 4 (26:09):
I'll give him credit for that, But at the same time,
I'm like, all right, this is about as blunt as
I can put it. If you ask some of the
better quarterbacks in the NFL, if you ask their coaches, oh,
what have you saying from them throughout training camp?

Speaker 2 (26:23):
What have you seen from them after this game?

Speaker 1 (26:24):
Whatever?

Speaker 4 (26:26):
And they bring up, oh, he ran he did the
things right operationally. You're like, what, So, if that's what
we're ad with the quarterback discussion, which it appears we are,
then I guess we can count that as a positive.
But dang, I'm like, you're three years in and if
that's what you're looking at in year three.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Sure, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
So I think that analogy actually kind of fits because
as you know, as I've told you, and it probably
irritates you, that I did show up late to class
go quite often in college, and the one time I
need to show up on time with finals day, and
the teacher told me, if you come late, you will
not take this exam. And I showed up on time
that day, so you can. So obviously Anthony Richardson can
do it. He is doing it. But man, I just

(27:04):
feel like I can't necessarily feel great about that or
even feel good about it really.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Because you should be doing those things.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
And yes, we'll give you credit for it, but you know,
I don't want to hear that same response.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
I guess going forward.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
You think fifty to fifty split will continue all this week?

Speaker 2 (27:20):
I think so.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
I mean, I see no reason as to why one
player will be more deserving of these splits over another,
especially without having a live in game reps. Now, perhaps
that changes after you go into a joint practice and
you see some live bodies, or the game the preseason
opener in Baltimore, maybe you see a little bit more there.
But right now I cannot sit here and tell you, oh,

(27:43):
this is why Daniel Jones deserves more snaps, This is
why Anthony Richardson deserves more snaps. Honestly, it has been
EH versus EH. When it comes to quarterback.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
Play, I don't think the others around the quarterbacks have
helped them either. I think generally the offense is just
like false starts drops. You know, Michael Pittman Junior said,
you know something to the effec could Hey, we've got
to pick it up, and like, you know, you you
mentioned it's kind of set up for the offense to
be better. You know, you got some like Colts players

(28:12):
go to. Well, the defense usually has the upper hand
early in camp. I'm like, wait a minute, you're installing
a new defense without the leading communicator. Should you really
have the upper hand, like, because they clearly have. Yeah,
they clearly have been the better unit. And I guess
if we can transition a little bit, that's to me
where the biggest positive has been. It's been that secondary
and Ward and buying him have been playmakers. Yeah, and

(28:34):
justin Wally, you know, just I'd say Wally more from
a he's getting the reps. I don't know if Wally's
had as active of a camp so far as Ward
and buying them. For example, in the playmaking department, but
even like it's a little thing. But like I know,
Jalen Jones is a little bit lower on the depth chart,
but he had a really good like Friday practice out
here when he got more starting run. And I do

(28:54):
think Anna Rumo's willingness to be stick here to you know,
want to play a little bit more press man, I
do think that has been seen where I'm torn on it.
James is just does it look so impressive because they're
going up against a passing offense that everybody thinks will
be one of the worst in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
It's probably a little bit of both.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Honestly, because we were watching this Saturday practice, I was thinking, oh, man,
this is this is a run first team if I've
ever seen one, right, And you really cannot test those guys.
And as I mentioned earlier, when you have a quarterback
that can perhaps throw you open, then that's how you
beat guys like.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Ward or buying them.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
But when they're in position, there's like just no chance
and even just the little margins for example, I can't
remember if this was might have been Friday when they
did one on one drolls and Anthony tried to test
Tjaverius Ward who was matched up against Michael Pitman Jr.
And you would think that's you know, CB one against
wide receiver one, and Anthony threw the ball deep of

(29:54):
a decent ball, but it probably should have been a
little more outside back shoulder. It drifted back in and
that you know, I don't know that foot of distance
turned to an interception. Fritz Vere's Ward and he's like, well,
if you're gonna beat me, you gotta really beat me.
You can't give me an opportunity to get my hands
on the ball, get my head around to the football.
So moments like that is where I'll see the biggest
difference in that secondary is like, oh, the margins are

(30:17):
just that much smaller for an offensive player to make
a great player or make a mistake.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
Yeah, I honestly can't recall a start to Colt's camp
where the defense has got in their hands in this
many balls, like has disrupted to the nature that they
have had. Now you know, again that's there's a little
bit of like push and pull with that, But I
do think that has to be acknowledging. And we are
live here at Colts training camp ten am. The start
time from Grand Park. Joel A. Erickson going to join

(30:45):
us here at nine o'clock. Mark Dakton. I had a
buddy text me to say that the Scotti Schffler was
low key, funny and happy. Gilmore too. I can't imagine that.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
I think he was the the of all the cameos.
I think he was the highlight of the of the movie.
To be quite honest, I don't even want to spoil
what the jokes are, but he was actually very funny.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
I would not have thought that at all. No, I know.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
I was like, because even my wife is like, he
always seems kind of dull. I'm like, he is dull.
He's very funny in this one. They actually got him
out of his shell a little bit. He was able
to poke funded himself and all that it was. It
was quite funny.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
Good for Scotti all that front. I think you'll like
We'll get back, I really do. I think you'll like it. Okay, good, good, good,
We'll go back. Colt Tcambo here in just a minute.
But again yesterday afternoon. The Keys of the Game for
the Indiana Fever brought to you by Hubert Automotive Group.
Check out your next car at Drive Hubler dot Com
Indian his giant automotive group. James, I hate to simple
it down to just one player, but that was Kelsey

(31:40):
Mitchell just saying, hey, guys, give me the damn ball
and watch me bucket get And that's exactly what she did.
This guy made a late run there and I don't
know if it was real, real pressure, but it got
somewhat close. But Kelsey Mitchell thirty five points yesterday as
the Fever beat this guy.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
I've been watching her get buckets for a long time.
I remember actually writing a story with her in it
because she went to Ohio State and I covered Illino
women's basketball for a while there, and she was great
back then too. I believe she's like top five and
it's the Bay scoring. So she's been scoring on her
life and you saw, you know why she saw elite
yesterday with the shot making and three point making and
really on top of that, Kevin, when she's efficient as

(32:18):
a scorer, oh my gosh, she's unstoppable.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Yeah, seven to ten from three. Yeah, it's funny you
bring up her college resume. It's like anytime they showed
the Caitlyn Clark Graphics she was on it. Yeah, and
little did we know watching Kaitlyn Clark and Iowa that
they'd be playing together. But hell of a career at
Ohio State. Again, the Feverabile play coming up on Wednesday.
One NFL item. I wanted to get to league wide
and again, I don't know if this is going to
spur a whole lot of action with the Colts, but

(32:43):
you know, we touched on it definitely on Friday Show.
Bernard Ryman joining Jake last Thursday and shared that, you know,
the Colts and his representation were pretty far off from
a numerical standpoint on a contract extension, and at some
point he mentioned that he felt like the Colts, you know,
positional value, they didn't necessarily look at it in the

(33:03):
same light that his team did. Now, sometimes with contract
extensions for various players, it takes other guys to kind
of set the market, if you will. Around the league.
We saw yesterday Rashaun Slater, former top ten pick of
the Chargers. He signed, Yes, you are doing the money
sign right now, a four year deal reportedly one hundred

(33:26):
and fourteen million with ninety two million yearranteams. So you're talking,
you know, north of what twenty five to twenty seven
annually for Slater. I think the Ryman thought is north
of twenty. I don't think it's necessarily at that number.
But again, that guarantee of ninety two million, I am curious.
I don't think Ryman is Slater, to be clear, no, no,

(33:49):
but I am curious. Does that help define a little
bit of the market for guys playing left tackle getting
their contract extensions.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
I do think it'll define it a bit, mainly because
you have like this high bar to say, Okay, well
you're not this guy. But if I'm two thirds of
whatever he produces, is that mean I get, you know,
forty fifty sixty million dollars guaranteed on my next deal,
whatever the case may be. I believe when Bernard Rayman
gets his deal done, and this isn't some hot take,

(34:19):
he'll probably be a top ten paid left tackle or
offensive tackle in the NFL, just giving you know his
age and his play. And again, he isn't a star,
but he's a very good player, which at that position
is still good enough to get you very handsomely paid.
So I'm curious to see how it all shakes out.
And honestly, that is again the one decision. I think

(34:41):
it's a no brainer for the Colts when it comes
to personnel, whether it's players, coaches, gms, whatever, bring that
guy back for the foreseeable future because you cannot. You
can't pass up on a guy when you hit on
a left tackle. You can't pass up on that. And honestly,
just looking at some of the dollars signs on that deal,
you just talked about, what is the first thing you
would do? You guys Mark and Kevin, what would you

(35:02):
do if you will? Not first thing because I probably
pay the house off, retire your parents, whatever. What's the
first dumb thing you would do? If you had enough
money like that ninet too million dollars guarantee?

Speaker 2 (35:13):
What do you buy? And it's like, all right, I
don't need this, but I surely want it.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
I think I'd get a Blue poweraide machine in my Okay, okay,
Mountain Barry, say it again, Mountain Berry. Yeah, yeah, And
I don't know. So I've brought up Blue Power before
in the show, and I've got a lot of people
say there's way too much sugar in there. Get the
powerad zero. Okay, fine, you know, if I need to
start worrying about my health. Clearly my waistline would tell

(35:37):
you otherwise than that. But yeah, that would be my
first big you know, Hey, what do you got in
your man cave?

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (35:42):
You know I got this beer on tap?

Speaker 6 (35:44):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (35:44):
Man, have you seen my whiskey bar? Well, yeah, that's
all fine and well yeah I would like that as well.
But boy, and I need that powery machine today with
how hot it's about to be. So that's where i'd go.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
Mark, How about you?

Speaker 3 (35:57):
There's so many things I could do. Geez, the blue
power that is an extent a random eccentric. How about
a taco bell in my house? I want to be
like Adam.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
Well, now you're talking about waistlines. Man, you have to
be shopping at the tall and big story. I want
to chees you go at three in the morning. Damn it,
I'm getting it.

Speaker 2 (36:21):
Gotcha?

Speaker 4 (36:21):
Well, I think I would. I would probably never cook
again myself. I mean, were all in the food, you know,
I would definitely you know, retire the downal nuggets for sure.
Maybe get some hibachi involved in there, you do you
know I love my hibachi for several reasons. Sure, so
maybe that's what I would do. I see Avon Cheryl.
Shout out to the ever great smelling Evan Cheryl from
Cluster Truck. He's saying he would get a lake house

(36:42):
with a par three course on his property.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
Now that does sound amazing.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Yeah yeah, yeah, the whole like backyard par three course
sounds unreal. Yeah, I mean that would be second on
the list. But man, I love me some blue power. Gosh,
I love me some blue power. At ten a end today,
full pads on, we'll get to what we think of
Tyler Warren so far eighty Mitchell. We have to give
some thoughts on what we do has done here through

(37:10):
the first four days of camp. Another item to note,
and again this might be a little bit more gray
area and Shane Syken try to like, I don't know,
that's kind of odd, what you know, him throwing the
pick to buy him on Saturday and all that. But
we'll see about the physicality of training camp now that
the full pads are on, what does that look like?

(37:30):
I mean, Chris Bout and Shane Sikee have made it
very clear that they want to see a more physical
training camp. Now, you know when you ask them directly
about that. And again there are a lot of CBA
rules that restrict you from, you know, turning this into
nineteen seventy three NFL films Oklahoma drills for three hours.
Exactly what will that be? You know? Is it the
and Chane again? Try to do this Saturday? Hey, sudden change,

(37:52):
all of a sudden turnovers happened. Are you going to
take advantage of that? Shane did mentioned last week James
that like some of these amped up physicality moments will
include longer full drive periods. So do we get the
starting offense out here in this heat for nine ten
play drives? Because I think a worrisome thing I've had
with this offense so far drops false starts, just overall

(38:18):
sloppiness from the offenes, not just the two quarterbacks misfiring
per se, but overall sloppiness that to me is like
ninety eight degree mistakes with the full pads on. Yeah,
well yes, it's been ninety eight a couple of days,
but the full bats haven't been on. So it's like,
you know, when you get into more of a grind
and it's real and you know you're frankly just drained

(38:38):
mentally and physically.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
But those are the fourth quarters, Those are the.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
Right gotta have a moment more of that that is
a little concerning for me in that realm. I'm Tony
Sprowna had a moment Friday during practice and he was
irate with the amount of fall start and afterward he
was still irate. Yeah, and we're talking starters. Yeah, so
that is something to keep an eye on today.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (38:58):
I can't remember if it was you or Steven or
somebody threw the question at him and was like, hey,
what have you thought about the false stars? Is there
a reason for it? Is an acclamation? He was like, no,
there's never a reason for. We got to be better.
And I actually like the no nonsense approach to it
because he's like, if we can't get this right now,
when are we ever gonna get it right? Especially when
we know those five yards, those ten yards they add

(39:20):
up if you can see to have those operational issues
up front.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Greg ass Over on a number of plays before Michael
Pittman and Franklin throw hands today. I believe at one
point SAA Franklin did say over the summer he will
fight Michael Pittman JUNR First. Yes. Now, unfortunately we've yet
to see Zia Franklin out here.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
I've heard him though in a practice set.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
Yeah, you can definitely hear him, and he might just
honestly get in Pitt's face today, even if he's not
out here practicing. That is kind of another Week two storyline. Randomly,
if you're out here, I think Joe Bacchi, number forty
eight has had a nice camp. Yes, you know some
of these linebackers at a little bit more obscure, camera
grown the LC product. He's gotten some decent clock here

(40:00):
as well. And I'm shocked Mark Dyton that you did
not go here Wes chiming in. Let's be honest. Mark
is installing a professional wrestling ring in his house. I
was gonna he's gonna have like an ICU unit, you
know next door. Well, he might need he might need
the icy you know for the taco bell, and is
gonna happen round Okay, all right, walk up ramping all

(40:24):
Mark Dyighten West is thrown in here for your.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
Era attitude era videotron. We can have matches, we can
have a giant big screen to watch pay per views.
You're right, I had gun to my head, so I
just think on my feet. But wrestling ring is if
that's not purchase number one, that's purchased number two.

Speaker 4 (40:39):
I feel like Ashley will look at you and be like, Yep,
this is who I'm married, this is this is who
I chose, and just laugh.

Speaker 1 (40:47):
Just remember I love this guy. Remember that you don't
have to tell myself in the mirror. Right for all
his faults, this is why I do love Mark Dyton.
Right here we are live here in Westfield. They are
starting to assemble the practice field with all the various
equipment that is necessary to run an NFL practice. And
today again the full pads will go seventy five minutes.

(41:09):
That's the schedule today, ten am to eleven fifteen. For
those that are just waking up on this Monday morning,
you'll probably walk outside definitely see some overnight rain lingering
on the grass and on the streets. But it looks
like these skies are clearing a bit here for the
first full padded practice of training camp. What has been
the report so far on Tyler Warren? How about year

(41:30):
number two for Ady Mitchell? We got some thoughts. We'll
throw it your way coming up next. This is a
Fantam Morning Show ninety three five one oh seven five
the fan all right eight o'clock hour here in Westfield.
The Phantom Morning Show will call Westfield home today and tomorrow,
and that will actually be it for us. The rest
of training camp. The schedule does start to get a

(41:51):
little bit more night heavy, even some afternoon practices. And James,
I don't remember the last time the Colts have done this.
You know, their first preseas is a week from Thursday
on the road in Baltimore. That means that their first
joint practice will be on the road a week from tomorrow,
actually Tuesday down there in Baltimore, you will be at

(42:11):
that joint practice, so you'll be out for a couple
days early next week. But that means the training camp
cadence you usually are used to here at Grand Park
of like pretty much three maybe a little bit four
straight weeks of practice gets chopped up, yep. So basically
next week you don't have anything here at Grand Park
Monday through Friday. It's just the Saturday and Sunday practices

(42:32):
each of the next two weeks. So for people working
normal ninety five's during the week, that's good news that
want to come out here and watch on the weekends.
For those that do enjoy the weekday practices. You better
do it now because the schedule really starts to drop
off exactly.

Speaker 4 (42:46):
Just not a lot of opportunities left. So get out here,
run the forty like I did. Don't pull your hamstring.
You'll certainly stretch beforehand, and there are some other activities
as well. I do like to walk around Cold City
as they call it, before practice somedays or afterwards, just
because it is a good vibe and you get to
see the excitement of the fan base, and that always
kind of reminds me that football season is here. When
I see a couple of fans decked out and like

(43:07):
the face paint or the jerseys or even jerseys of
old you know, seeing the Andrew Lock jerseys. Saw check
one in Jersey the other day as well, and some
older jerseys Reggie Wayne's still popular one as well.

Speaker 2 (43:18):
So that's always good vibes.

Speaker 1 (43:20):
Yeah, I am always reminded about how sick it is
when the Hall of Fame game starts. That's when I'm like,
oh my gosh, is it is it about here this week?

Speaker 4 (43:29):
I think for me it's well yeah, wow, yeah, that yeah.
When you put it like that, mark it's certainly.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
Hall of Fame for real's it The Hall of Fame
game is Yeah, it's it's Thursday. Wow. So when the
Colts have their night Chargers Lions, When the Colts have
their night practice coming up on Thursday night at eight
o'clock in can Ohio will be Chargers versus Lions.

Speaker 3 (43:51):
Yeah, We've got the NFL game in July. So we
have school in July and NFL football in July.

Speaker 1 (43:57):
Yeah. That doesn't sit right with me.

Speaker 2 (43:59):
That's crazy.

Speaker 1 (44:00):
I just don't have any cloud to do anything about it,
but that just doesn't sit right with me. Colt sat
Ravens coming up a week from Thursday. James Boyd described
the eighty Mitchell experience four days into the twenty twenty
five training camp bad.

Speaker 4 (44:16):
It hasn't been good. I think that he's been disappointment
so far throughout the first week of training camp. Now
let's not say he can't turn it around. It is early,
but for someone who struggled a lot last year, you
want to see him take a step forward. I thought
he actually looked pretty good in the spring. You know,
made some plays and certainly let us know that he
made some plays. But throughout training camp so far, I

(44:38):
believe he has four drops through four practices and he
had two drops this past Saturday on back to back
plays and eleven on eleven drills. Now, I'm not counting
every drop from every player in the individual periods or
one on ones whatever, but for team stuff, I'm like, Okay,
I think that's a little more important to you know,
track or note and to see him kind of struggle

(45:00):
it is disheartening and it kind of makes you question, like, Okay,
why where's your head at because a lot of that
stuff to this point, and I would think is mental.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
They can't even hit you, That's why are you dropping
the ball.

Speaker 1 (45:10):
I want you to share the anecdote that you wrote
in your latest piece on the Athletic here in just
a second, But yeah, I would summarize it. Adie Mitchell's
experience so far here at camp is just continuing to
be unreliable. And I would also add, I would say
continuing to be arguably the most frustrating cult because James,

(45:32):
once again, the man gets open like it's not like
I mean, it's not like he's not creating separation, but
when you target him, it's like me throwing the nerf
ball of Max Bowen. Right now, it's like, well, I
don't know. Hopefully his hands will grasp it against his body,
but that's really the only hope he catches it. And
with Mitchell, it's just an unreliability for that play to

(45:56):
be a completion. And I know that might sound like
kind of odd to say, but it's got to be
maddening for this coaching stuff. I'd argue he might be
the most frustrated player on the roster, maybe not named Richardson,
But that's a fair because you do believe and know
there's talent. Obviously collegiately he performed majorly on the biggest stage.

(46:17):
But you know, I've always thought this about his college resume.
The stat out there, which was a very impressive stat
he played in five college football playoff games, and he
scored a touchdown in each of those five games. I mean,
that is a big time stage, yep, big time player delivering.
But I believe if you take it a step further,
in those five games. He started his career at Georgia.

(46:39):
Actually I think he caught a touchdown here at Lucas
Oil if I'm not mistaken, in the national title game
and then transfer to Texas. If you looked at those
five games games. I want to say total in those
games he had eight catches, so he had five touchdowns,
but only three other catches in the five games. And
I say that to bring up like that to me,

(47:01):
probably is an indicator of the inconsistency to him of like, yeah,
you know, there might be a play or to a flash,
but there's just largely an unreliability element to him. Now,
of course, the Colts in the NFL world thought, you
know what, if he shows those flashes, it's our job
to tap more into those flashes, provide consistency and all
of that. So if you don't mind, we share that

(47:24):
anecdote what you saw saturday there in practice.

Speaker 4 (47:26):
Yeah, so this was during a one on one drill.
Daniel Jones was the quarterback. Adie Mitchell had beaten Jalen
Jones to the back pylon inn it's one on one
drill and obviously wanted to score.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
And when Daniel Jones withrew the ball, it was a
little bit too.

Speaker 4 (47:40):
Far inside and so Jaylen Jones jumped over it, slapped
the ball down and Adie Mitchell after the play, rips
his helmet off. He's frustrated, and he very loudly says
throw that bleep outside and as he walked back to
the offense in the huddle, you can tell he's, you know,
just not feeling the quarterback play in that particular moment.

Speaker 2 (48:02):
But in my mind, I'm like, you.

Speaker 4 (48:04):
Are certainly one to talk because when eleven on eleven
came up, Daniel Jones hits him in stride in the flat,
drops it. The very next play, Kevin, he comes right
back to him on a slant drops that too. Back
to back plays. Now, Daniel Jones did connect with him
a few plays later for a big.

Speaker 1 (48:20):
Game, and following that play, James, you know, there were
some murmurs up there. Oh yes, that was one of
the louder like are you bleeping?

Speaker 4 (48:28):
Yeah me moment, And I think that was also probably
a reflection of how that coaching staff or that front
office was feeling. Now, obviously they can't be as outward
with their emotions, but yeah, that was a low moment.
There was an audible grown from the crowd like what
are you doing? Because again and eleven on eleven, that's
all people are watching is the team periods. Now one
on one, you might have a play that kind of

(48:50):
goes off the radar a little bit because there's so
much going on, but eleven on eleven, everyone's watching players, coaches.
This is what you're supposed to do. This is the
closest you're going to get to a situation, and he's unreliable.
So again, the irony or really the audacity for him
to kind of complain about the quarterback play when it's like, dude,
when they do hit you with the ball, you drop it.
You are you have no room if you're Ady Mitchell

(49:12):
to talk about the quarterback play or to be as frustrated.

Speaker 2 (49:16):
As you seem to be when you haven't held up
your end of the bar.

Speaker 1 (49:19):
Yeah, it just wasn't a good scene at all, and
it hasn't been really through the first four days of practice.
And I don't know is that his frustration boiling over
a little bit of like he knows right, you know,
he's pressing a little bit here. You know, right now,
if you had me rank who's been the most impressive
wide out or you know, what would you say about
the overall wide out position through Camp James, it'd be

(49:41):
Alec Pierce a clear one and honestly two on the list.
It's certainly not Adie Mitchell. It's not probably Michael Pittman Jr.
I don't think it's Josh Downs, and he's usually mister trustworthy.
I'd probably go Anthony Coold second. Yeah on that list,
fifth round pick out of Oregon State two years ago.
You know, he and all likelihood I think will be

(50:01):
the punt returner this year. We'll see about kick return
as well. He started with those duties last year, actually
got benched at one point. But I would say he's
probably been a little bit more on the reliable front
than really any of those other names and Downs. I
don't overreact because down to obviously as a past president
of being you know, much better, much more liable in

(50:22):
this league. But so far, i'd say largely the whiteout
group has been disappointing.

Speaker 4 (50:27):
Yes, and honestly, for Alec Pearce's sake, it's like, hey,
by the way, I would like to get paid. He
did mention that his agency has talked to the Colts
and it sounds like he's don't have to play the
season out, which for his purposes. If he looks like
he's looked throughout camp so far, he should be okay.
But the rest of that group, no, they have not
performed to the level they should be, you know, considering

(50:48):
what they've done in the past and also what they've
brought I.

Speaker 2 (50:50):
Guess on paper as well.

Speaker 4 (50:51):
But yeah, Alex Pierce is the only, I believe, the
only wide receiver who's made any touchdown catches in eleven
or eleven. Now, granted they only did red zone work
this past what was his Saturday, So a lot of
the touchdowns or whatever you're not gonna get when it
comes to trying to go all the way down the field.
But even in those settings, he was the only one
to reach the end zone when you had multiple, multiple

(51:12):
chances to get in the end zone. And I thought
even Michael Pittman junior uncharacteristic head of dropping the end
zone as well. So those are all things that I'm
watching and saying. Yes, we could talk about the quarterback
play and how it has him been up to par Kevin.

Speaker 2 (51:25):
We knew that coming in, But on the flip.

Speaker 4 (51:27):
Side, the expectation was that the wide receiver room will
be a lot better than it has been throughout the
first four practices.

Speaker 1 (51:33):
Have you guys seen these videos of Nikola Jokicic and
his horse.

Speaker 2 (51:37):
Yes, I think it's hilarious.

Speaker 1 (51:40):
This man. Does he love basketball as much as he
loves his horses. I'm gonna speak for Mark here. You know,
Mark three daughters. You know I've got one and one
on the way. I hope in my life and Mark
for your girls as well. I hope they can find
someone that loves them as much as mister Jokic loves tears.

(52:02):
He's running around and these tracks. I mean, guys, he
looks like he's in Boofou serviy. I was gonna say,
it doesn't even look like it is not Churchill Down.
This is not whatever Belmont or you know wherever they
run the Preakness, Pimlico or whatever it's called. I mean,
this man he loves that horse so like I used
to love my blanket growing up. Yeah, I mean, it

(52:24):
is one of the more beautiful things I've I've seen.
I've always been curious what is Nikola Yokic do in
the off season.

Speaker 4 (52:30):
Honestly though, it's kind of endearing because he's thousand percent
very just regular. I mean, obviously he's a great, great
basketball player, already a Hall of Famer if he retired today.

Speaker 1 (52:38):
This is not real horse racing, by the way, Like
this is a chariot style, right, I mean, is that
the way to describe it?

Speaker 4 (52:44):
I would think so if you just for those who
are curious, if you just google it and look on
YouTube or something during the break or something like that,
you'll see what we're talking about.

Speaker 2 (52:54):
It's not so glamorous set up.

Speaker 4 (52:56):
No, and he's you know, you would think he just
won other championship in the NBA one thousand percent.

Speaker 2 (53:01):
They actually showed a video celeb winning a championship.

Speaker 4 (53:04):
Actually, yes, yes, Mark, to your point, someone like clipped
a video side by side of him winning his first
championship and then winning that race with his horse yesterday
or over the weekend, and the emotion is like night
and day compared to the two it is.

Speaker 2 (53:20):
It is hilarious to see, but.

Speaker 1 (53:21):
It's really cool. I absolutely love them. That is a
voice to James One. I am Kevin Bowen, Mark Titon
back in studio. Thank you to Cam on site engineer
here at Grand Park's done a wonderful job with all
of our shows here during training camp again. We'll be
out here again tomorrow, so if you haven't stopped by,
make sure you come say hey. We are on the
northwest part of the two field complex here at Grand Park.

(53:44):
When I say two fields, I mean just the Colts
two fields. There's their fields ten an hour and fifteen
minutes today Colts training camp. Mark. If you don't mind,
let's cue up that Pascal Siakam clip from yesterday. I
really only watched the end of the Brickyard four hundred.
I'm not a city here and act like I was,
you know, locked in and consuming every minute of Joey
Logano's blown tire and Chase Broscoe coming to the green flag.

(54:07):
But Pascal Siakam pace cart driver yesterday and here was
the pacers forward on what it was like to do that.

Speaker 5 (54:16):
I mean, obviously I want to, you know, continue to
and sender myself in the community. You know, this is
my home now and I'm super excited to be here.
And and again I have a special bond with the
you know, the state, you know, like Indiana in general,
and is just like being able to be a part
of it was awesome, and you just want to continue
to do good for the city, for the state. And
again there's another cool opportunity to see the people and.

Speaker 1 (54:37):
Hang out, you know what for a guy James that
got traded here and by the way courtesy of our
partners there which TV uh the Pascal Siakam clip, So
thank you for that. But like he seems to have
had such just like a genuine appreciation for this city,
in this franchise. And again when you get guys that

(54:57):
are traded here. Yeah, I don't know, I know he
re signed, but like I guess, I just I really
like how he's wired. And I again, I probably did
not know that as much as I should have. Yeah,
when he was traded here.

Speaker 2 (55:12):
It sounds like it was very hard from the leave
Toronto as well. So the loyalty factor with him is
very high.

Speaker 4 (55:17):
And the reason why I think that he has enjoyed
his time here, besides the winning of course and getting paid,
is that when I look back at the trade, I
believe Massiu Jerry said he wasn't gonna send Pascal somewhere
they didn't want to be initially, and so they've worked
together to come here to Indiana and obviously you've seen
that marriage over the last couple of years has worked
out very well. But he it's cool to see him

(55:38):
embrace the community. But I think, you know, shot to
my folks at wis TV, who I enjoy interacting with.
But you know, on the pettiness meeter, you should have asked him, hey,
you know, did you have to fill in for Miles
Turner because you're here now and he is in her,
Well how did that work? You don't get a little
spicy there. But no, in all seriousness, spicyp is loved
here in this city, and rightfully so because he's been
a very good player and he's lived up up to

(56:00):
what they've traded for, if that makes sense, right.

Speaker 3 (56:04):
Yeah, that was a Chuck McDonald's reaction to remember you
you poo pooed the Sakam trade.

Speaker 1 (56:11):
Yes, I called it Luke warm Uh huh you did, yeah, thought,
Oh man, I wanted o G and Anobi. That's what
I wanted at the time. Oh man, No, I I
think I was squarely wrong on that. I think that
is in the firm wrong category. It happens on that front. There,
uh have to do anything for the car. And I
thought about the adjustments. I mean, he's six nine.

Speaker 4 (56:33):
I've thought about that, and perhaps it was like an SUV,
so maybe he doesn't have to, you know, adjust.

Speaker 1 (56:38):
It to more of that. It was an odd pace Carnet.
Now you say that.

Speaker 2 (56:41):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (56:42):
I think that's why they did They did that because
he ain't fitting in.

Speaker 2 (56:45):
A two seater.

Speaker 1 (56:46):
Every time I say the sky is clear, Cam, I
look over my left shoulder. I'm like, those guys don't
look like they're clearing to me. We'll keep an eye
on the radar, dude, he's some well. I guess I
thought I saw some fans starting to line up gates
open here at nine o'clock. I don't know. The radar
looks pretty low, man. It's pouring on the south side,
Greenwood area, Martins Hill area. It is absolutely pouring right
now again. Colts training camp underway at ten am. We'll

(57:08):
keep you posted because it does look like some showers
in the state of Illinois right now. But they are
putting the outdoor field together, so right now, James Boyd,
I would say the indications are from the Colts. They
will be outdoors sometimes. We've been out here for these practices.
They've yet to make an announcement, but we haven't seen
like the equipment stuff being set up, and that's usually

(57:28):
a good indicator. So if you're planning to come out
here right now at eight fourteen of the morning. It
definitely looks like practice will be going on.

Speaker 4 (57:36):
I'm excited about it, mainly because it's another day out
here to see how the team perhaps progresses, and also
see the team in pads. Pads always make people act
a little different, and so the football players always tell me,
because I didn't play the game, that when the pads
come on, the real dogs come out. So who's gonna
be a real dog today? We'll have it all recapped
for you on tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (57:55):
So for sure, dawg dog Jason, thanks for bringing this up.
I want to go GDB drafted the Pacers over TJ. Leaf. Yeah,
well yeah, oh pay the pain. Yeah, I guess you
can't choose in pain this camp, win them all, James,
I walked into camp. Position battles quarterback, center, defensive end,
playing time, corner kicker. Certainly. I know we didn't have

(58:20):
a show after Friday's practice, but that was a shaky
kicker debut from Spencer, Strader and Maddix. Trueyo, I assume
they will kick either today or tomorrow, so we'll see
if Trader was good until fifty three and then he
missed both of them. From fifty three, Maddox missed one
of them shorter than that he's the undrafted free agent.
I would say right now, the best battle to me

(58:41):
has been that third corner battle. Like I think it
is Justin Waly, Shavarius Warding, Kennymore be in the top
two corners. But like Jalen Jones, I thought had a
good Friday, and you know, Juju Brents, I think has
had a moment or two. And yeah, honestly, I think
Juju's probably that he's practiced four straight days.

Speaker 2 (58:56):
Yeah, good point. I think jujus fighting.

Speaker 4 (58:58):
You know, I gave him some love, I believe one
of my rec apps the other day when I was
on social media and posted a video of what happened
at practice. But I don't know where his thoughts in
in that cornerback room. But it's not like he's gonna
lay down and not try to force the coaching staff's
hand when it comes to his playing time or his opportunities,
because when he has gotten him, he's flashed a little bit.
So respect to him because he's had a rough going

(59:20):
with the injuries and things like that. I believe he
only played eleven games in two years, says being's drafted,
which is rough. But then on top of that, like
you said, Kevin Jalen Jones, I don't think that he
necessarily has played bad. I think he's been pretty good
in real games. You know, last years ifout that he
was fine, and then in camp he's played pretty well.
So that to me just telling me that justin Wally
must be really really impressing this coaching staff.

Speaker 1 (59:42):
Here the YouTube chat, they're debating Anthony Richardson right now,
and Peaches says, I haven't heard anyone say he's looked terrible.
Do you think that's kind of similar to my analogy
of that at least he's showing up the class right now.

Speaker 4 (59:58):
I guess it's like at least he's passing, you know,
maybe not getting the great grades, but.

Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
Well he's getting I'm not committing to any grades yet.
I just said that he's showing up the class. I'm
not saying what he's getting on the test yet, but
I would say Anthony Richardson is showing up the class.

Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
Well to give you a grade so far, i'd give
him a C. That's an average shoe.

Speaker 1 (01:00:16):
Like man, I don't know if I give you either
on the see right now, average would hold on average
quarterback play this year, that's a good point. Yeah, yeah,
maybe maybe not. The passing offense has been an F plus.

Speaker 4 (01:00:27):
Yeah, So for example, I was I was looking at
it more like in the middle, like I would say
it's been a five on a ten point scale, which
in that case it will be failing. But yeah, to me,
it's just been versus And like I said earlier, would
it be fair to.

Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
Say that bar should be higher with the fourth overall
pick kiss thirty year in?

Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:00:44):
Absolutely on question, But yeah, you gotta look at reality
too though, Yeah, Mark, I mean, how do you sort
of assess the situation? And I think that's one of
the questions this coaching staff and the GM Chris Ball
would have to go over because you can't grade him
him like a regular top five pick, but you probably should.

Speaker 3 (01:01:02):
I don't know the fact that you're saying three years in, well,
he hasn't looked terrible yet. I mean that that that's
no kind of bar to be setting in trading camp.

Speaker 1 (01:01:11):
But James is right, it's the reality of the quarterback room.
Like I mean, right now, these are the quarterbacks that
are here playing for Thenneapolis Colts in twenty twenty five.
So as sad as that sounds it's the reality that
you have to live in and the bed the Colts
have made here. Jeelanney Wood's update from Dan He was
curious about that in a seven on seven, But I

(01:01:34):
would say right now, it's an uphill battle to make
the team, Yes, for sure.

Speaker 4 (01:01:38):
And I think in that tight end room it's Tyler Warren,
Molly Cox and the rest of them trying to figure
it out.

Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
Behind them, Will Mallory, he took it probably the biggest
hit we've seen of camp so far after Wooler on Friday.
That was without full pads on that one.

Speaker 2 (01:01:51):
Could you imagine someone hit Tyler Warren like that?

Speaker 1 (01:01:54):
Honestly, I was a little surprised we didn't see a
fight after Wooler and Mallory. That to me was a
if you're on offense, you're like, dude, Hunter Waller, you're
crossing the line. Yeah, I thought somebody should have stepped
in there, But that's my two.

Speaker 4 (01:02:09):
Well, it's someone who doesn't fight, you know, I'm obways
saying others should fight, you know, so just just just not.

Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
Me five fight And James Ward's backing up to the
big world star How Jula Erickson.

Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
How has the offensive line looked so far, then so
far with the against the defensive line.

Speaker 1 (01:02:27):
Let's let's table that for the other side here, because
we have seen a little bit from a rotational standpoint,
we'll save that here, coming up a thirty again. I
think any time you talk about trenches you wait for
the full pads. But there has been I think a
couple of takeaways you can have from an O line standpoint.

Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
So we'll do that.

Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
Coming up on the other side, Mark Dyke ten. Let's
queue up in the morning checkdout the.

Speaker 7 (01:02:48):
Morning checkdown on ninety sweet five and one oh seven
five the fan.

Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
I came doup in an hour. We started over there
at sixteenth and Georgetown. Let's go up to the Windy
City here for this morning checked down, and that would
be the Indiana Fever. A great start yesterday against Chicago Sky.
They held on for that win, and largely thank you
to Kelsey Mitchell for that.

Speaker 4 (01:03:09):
One of the best bucket getters in Fever history finished
with thirty five points I believe in like thirty minutes,
and so she put them on her back yesterday to
get that win. And the Fever continue to stack a
couple of w's when it comes to that playoff positioning.

Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
You know what, and shout out to the rookie yesterday,
Mikayla Timpson, are we going kk kyk kk? Is that
what she That's what she preferred radio Ill try to
give him the full name, you know, Mikayla kk TIMPs
at Florida State right. Yes, her very good off the
bench yesterday and rebound late that was sick. Since the
Dwana bonner, you know, dramas played out, they've kind of

(01:03:43):
turned to her a little bit, and I think she's
really earned a key role off the bench for her.
So much of you for the fever. Wednesday, they will
play the Phoenix Mercury and then coming up it is
a five game road trip after that, we'll see where
Caitlyn Clark is from a health standpoint. The first African
American ever to win the Brickyard four hundred, that was
Bubba Wallace yesterday, Kissing the bricks sounded like and again

(01:04:06):
I was just purely going off the announcers, but some
unbelievable fuel drama there late in that overtime session. Kyle
Larson on the restart there could not hawk down Bubba Wallace.
I thought the emotion. Pretty cool for him, him and
his son celebrating the art of bricks afterwards there, So
Bubble Wallace gets it done over there at the Brickyard.

(01:04:27):
Other items of note Brickyard related Catherine League top twenty
finish for her. We've seen her race in the ightty
five hundred. Of course, Chase Briscoe unfortunately, I think it
was seventeenth for him, and I feel like there's another
local Joey Logano blew that tire that was not good
and I guess Kyle Larson the runner up there.

Speaker 4 (01:04:45):
It was quite the moment. I mean, it was dramatic
because you make the playoffs because of that. And again
I don't know how NASCAR works, but I would imagine
that is like winning the game to get into the
playoffs in the NBA or NFL, last game of the season,
last chance. So exciting for him, and like you said,
as black Man to win at the Brickoff one hundred.

Speaker 1 (01:05:03):
Alex plow Man, that's won a whole lot this year
titled that eight oh, I jumped the gun, though I
jumped the gup. No mark by all means I'm not
gonna stop positive reds audio. Here come the red legs.
We'll wait for you, Alex Plow. We will not wait
for the Cincinnati Reds. The best team in baseball, the

(01:05:25):
team that no one wants to face right now, the
team that of the playoffs started today, they would be
the favorite. They are the big red Machine. They are
the two thousand and one Yankees, they are the seventy
two Dolphins. And I really hope they win today. After
I just said all that, yeah, I hope that.

Speaker 3 (01:05:40):
And are they gonna make a trade deadline deal? Are
they gonna try to go for the playoffs? Are they
gonna sell off their team?

Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
Oh? Mark, I don't need any of that. And that
sounded a little bit like, yeah, I could tell where
your tone was with that. I've worked with you for
long enough. I know exactly where you're going with that, Reds.
When Indians took five or six at home this past week,
and they will be on the road here upcoming Cubs.
What was it two or three from the White Sox
two out of three? Yep? Did the Cardinals lose, Casey value? Yeah?

(01:06:09):
I think they did. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
Yeah, it looks a little sad over there.

Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
Casey Valier cults radio. He's a Cardinals fan, but we
got some split allegiances once Joeli Erickson shows up here
in a little bit. Is Joel on the phone or
seeing in person? Mark, I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know which way he's going.

Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
I'm gonna test that he's on the phone.

Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
He's looking forward to that Brewers and Cubs matchup tonight,
so we'll see how that all goes.

Speaker 1 (01:06:30):
That is a big one in the NL Central Alex
Polo where the teaser is going. He dominated out at
Laguna Secos on the pole, led for virtually every lap.
That is now win eight. I want to say ten
races is the record. We've got three left. I'm pretty
sure Portland, Milwaukee, and Nashville for Indy Car. Yeah, Polow

(01:06:50):
was flawless. Team Penske continues to have an absolutely horrific season.
Shot out to Christian Luanguard Colton Ma Hurda on the
podium there without plow out at Laguna Seca, and that
pretty pretty much covers everything. You guys see. Tiger Woods'
son is playing golf in West Lafayette starting.

Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
I did see that. Ye Are you going to go
stock him?

Speaker 1 (01:07:13):
Yeah? I mean, am I good? Should I head up there?
After practice? Tomorrow, twelve fifty t time. I believe that's
on the Ackerman course up there. It's amazing that Purdue
has two golf courses that are that good right across
the street from each other, and two very different golf courses,
I must say, in Camping and Ackerman. But yes, this
is the Junior PGA Championship, so it is a big deal.
I would say on the Junior PGA era, on the

(01:07:34):
junior golf calendar, I would definitely call this a top
three or four event out there. So if Charlie Woods
is team off, does that mean we've got a Tiger
PJ under the West Lafayette Airport At some point.

Speaker 4 (01:07:46):
He's not gonna be in commercial, that's for sure, so
perhaps he seems to really love it.

Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
And let me be very clear here, I said PJ
with Tiger Woods, because with him, you know, you got
to make sure the acronyms are a spot on there.
So oh lord, James's scratching. Oh man, it probably wasn't
my best effort. So we'll see if Tiger makes an

(01:08:12):
appearance there as Charlie Woods playing golf up there at
the beautiful Ackerman and Camping golf courses in West Lafayette.
All right on the side, Mark Tachton, want to know
about the O line. What have we seen so far?
We'll throw that at you. How is Tyler Warrant been
at Campbell hit on that as well? Kevin Bow and
James Boyd live and what I just hear there's gonna
be a Jason Derulo concert at Live Golf. Honestly, that

(01:08:34):
might be the only thing that gets me to go
to Live Golf is here in Jason Derulo. I feel
like I'm gonna be back in college here with a
little man Jason. I was gonna say, is all throwbacks?
Is you have new music?

Speaker 4 (01:08:44):
If he's playing, If Jason Darrul is playing new music,
I don't necessarily want to hear that.

Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
I want the bangers, man, I want the bangers. And
that'll get James Boyd and I dancing like we were
last week when the rhythm I thought was through the
roof and my wife thought I was starting a lawnmower.
We'll see the lawnmower should be out here shortly again.
Radar looking a little diceier out in like Illinois in
that area, but they are definitely setting up like we
will be outdoors here for a training camp practice that

(01:09:12):
will include the debut of full pads in twenty twenty
five for the Colts. Ten am to eleven fifteen. That
is upcoming for the Indiapolis Colts. It's a morning practice
today and tomorrow and then the true night session Thursday,
eight to ten p m. For that one. News from
the choir works afterwards. Our news as what we.

Speaker 2 (01:09:34):
Have news from the Colts.

Speaker 4 (01:09:35):
They say that they have signed free agent defensive tackle
Joss two po and placed offensive tackle Jack Wilson on
IR And if you remember Kevin, I believe Steichen told
us that Jack Wilson had a pictorial injury and that
is never good to hear. So there's your first major
injury of or training camp.

Speaker 1 (01:09:55):
Jack Wilson the largest man on the roster, six to
eleven three pounds. He also helped instigate our first scuffle.
I don't think I'll call it a fight, our first
scuffle here of training camp. Him and Isaiah Land got
into it. Boy, This two pound dude is huge, sixty
three three forty of note, he played for the Cincinnati

(01:10:17):
Bengals from twenty seventeen to twenty twenty three. And what
does that mean that means lou Ana Arumo connection. So
you're always curious when defensive personnel moves happen, and they
involve personnel with the old defensive coordinator. So this is
not just a random training camp move for me. This
is something that two pou is if I'm saying that right.

(01:10:38):
He is sixty three and three hundred and forty pounds,
so he is a big ol' hog molly in the
middle of the defensive line twenty three starts in his career.
I know this is probably not the most like politically
correct way to say what this sort of move indicates
to me, James, But when Anna Rumo was hired, crisp

(01:11:00):
out On at the combine and we were talking with
Chris about, Hey, what are some of the positions that
defensively you might have to scout differently now that you
have a new defensive coordinator, and he mentioned defensive line.
And as I looked a little bit deeper at the
defensive line rosters in Cincinnati, where An Rumo was the

(01:11:22):
coordinator for what like six years, I think it was
five six years something like that, he had a lot
of big fat dudes and the Colts really haven't had
a lot of big, fat defensive linemen. They've had like
I don't know, like three and ten pound dudes and
not like big big dudes in the recent era. This
dude falls on that big, big space eating you know,

(01:11:43):
sort of defensive tackle. So again, I think some of
this is probably it can be looked at a new
defensive coordinator. So yeah, that's an interesting one because I
unless I'm missing something, it's not like we've had a
d line injury here. Ke anymore?

Speaker 2 (01:11:56):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:11:56):
Bang ni And that was it.

Speaker 2 (01:11:58):
Yeah, And so again Jack Wilson had the pectoral injury.

Speaker 1 (01:12:01):
He was old line.

Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
Yeah, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 4 (01:12:03):
So again just a little bit of a I guess
a depth piece there when it comes to taking a
flyer on the guy.

Speaker 1 (01:12:08):
Let's go to the old line. So Mark Dyton wanted
to ask abouts just prior to the morning checkdown James
Boyd h four days into camp. Again, I think full
pads offer a truer evaluation in particularly with the offensive line.
But any o line thoughts here through the first week,
I don't have very many.

Speaker 4 (01:12:26):
I think that you know, the rotations have stay consistent
with the quarterbacks. Similar to Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones.
We've seen the Danny Pinters of the world and Tanner
Bordolini get about the equal amount of snaps. But I
tell you all the time, it's very hard for me
to say one way or the unless the guy gets
absolutely beat or just crushed on a play that they're

(01:12:47):
playing well or not playing well, because you can't really
engage and.

Speaker 2 (01:12:50):
Hit like that.

Speaker 4 (01:12:51):
I will say that, you know, there haven't been a
lot of instances of me looking like, oh wow, like
magans Avez looks completely overwhelmed the right guard. However, I
think I'll have a better assessment for you all, especially
those listening and asking on our YouTube set as well,
about the offensive line and the trenches. I think both
of us will have a better understanding after the day,
just because it will require them more physicality.

Speaker 1 (01:13:11):
Yeah, I would say this the O line through the
first week for me, evaluation wise, James, it's like, you know,
you're evaluating a fifteen year old parallel parking in the
school parking lot with no cars versus telling him to
go parallel park on Georgia Street during Super Bowl week, right,
you know, It's it's a little bit different from that standpoint.
I do think we brought this up a little bit earlier.
I think in general the operation of the offense has

(01:13:33):
not been smooth. Some penalty, some pre snap stuff, some
false stars. Tony Sperano Junior was not happy at all.
I think I was a Friday practice where he was
not happy at all. We continue to see the center
battle between Danny Pinter and Tanna Bordelini. Bordellini probably is
the first guy, at least he was the initial starter,
I should say, of training camp. But you know how
long does that battle play out? And then when Brittain

(01:13:55):
Smith missed for that rest day, it was Jalen Travis
at right tackle. That is the rookie, another big, big
dude six', eight three hundred and something pounds out Of Iowa,
state fourth round pick there started At princeton for three
years and then played At Iowa state his final. Season
and we know that swing tackle position can be pretty.
Big so, yeah right, NOW i would, say like the old,

(01:14:18):
line it hasn't been you know. Whatever they're not living
in the. Backfield BUT i definitely have noticed a little
bit more from a again center rotation, Standpoint and then
we'll see what exactly it looks like here when the
full pads come. ON i believe the sun is trying
to creep through here In, westfield but pretty overcast so

(01:14:40):
far here on This monday. Morning, again morning practices each
in the next two days full. PADS i think a
good amount here this, week and we will be out
here At monday And tuesday before we call it a.
Camp from a morning show standpoint back in. Studio one
thing THAT i think has been one of the bigger
Positives james has been again the defensive, effort particularly in the.

(01:15:01):
SECONDARY i just think they have contested a lot. More
AND i go back to a quote That James, betcher
their linebackers coach who's new came over From Ana. Arrumo
he mentioned in describing this defense at one point in
the offseason that they want to be more offensive playing defensive.

(01:15:22):
Football so if before that more offensive playing, defense AND
i feel like we've seen that it is been very,
reactionary very just, playmaking disruption all of. THAT i feel
like the windows for these pass catchers and throwers has
just not really been. There and then when they have

(01:15:44):
had these moments of, Truth, boom here's the. Ball you're
gonna catch it or are you? Not more often than
not that ball's falling. Incomplete so that quote has always
kind of stood out to. Me be more offensive. Defensively,
again you're not going up against the show on turf
here by any, means BUT i will SAY i think
the defense has largely achieved that through the first four.

Speaker 4 (01:16:05):
Days, yeah AND i Think, kevin to your, point you've
seen it a lot more, aggression and that is something
that this DEFENSE i think lacked Under Gus, bradley where
perhaps you didn't have that in your face. Pressure i'm
not talking about the quarterback playing, necessarily were just in,
general we're not gonna give you the underneaths that we're
not gonna give you. Anything and so we've seen a
lot more plays on the BALL i think because of,

(01:16:26):
that and the offensive looked a bit sporadic because of that.
Too NOW i will say that anything throwing the direction
Of Jervaius ward of Cam binhams was like a bad
decision so. Far but even the other guys that they
are getting in on some of the action as, well
and particularly when it comes to linebacker to your, Point,
kevin about some of their play they have been pretty
good in coverage, TOO i, thought and you, Know Joe

(01:16:48):
bachi has been someone who is surprising to me a
bit because he's been a special teams guy for the
majority of his career and he'll likely probably continue that
role Whenever Zyire franklin becomes healthy you, again but to
have that in your memory bank Of, oh this guy
has shown a couple of. Flashes perhaps he could help
us in a, pinch similar to How Grant stewart that
helped them last. YEAR i Believe Ziar franklin might have

(01:17:09):
missed a game or two And Grant stewart got to
start and he had that crazy tackling performance against forget
what the pony.

Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
Was it might have Been detroit to somebody, Else.

Speaker 4 (01:17:17):
Dolphins it was The dolphins, actually because they won that,
game AND i believe he had almost twenty, tackles and
so Is Joe bachi is someone who could give you
sort of, that like that relief in a.

Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
Pinch.

Speaker 1 (01:17:27):
Yeah Camra groan is another name from a linebacker. Standpoint you,
know THE lc kid that has gotten some reps as.
Well Tyler warren thoughts will provide that coming up on
the other, Side JOEL. A erickson From The star going
to join us here at nine o'clock, again start time ten.
Am it's still in the free practice entry fee colts

(01:17:49):
dot com slash. Camp well you get your tickets free,
today free tomorrow for all. AGES i want to Say,
thursday it's just seventeen and under our. FREE i think
it's like five dollars for eighteen and. Older AND i
believe that's the same case for the. Weekends they've got
a little bit of a staggered price schedule depending on
the weekday practice versus the night and the.

Speaker 4 (01:18:06):
Weekends reminds me WHEN i grew up and we would
go to old country buffet with my, grandma and if
you were a certain, age you would cost, less and
SO i was like six for a very long.

Speaker 1 (01:18:17):
TIME i remember how HAPPY i. Was somebody say, that
you know how little kids are they they want to
tell you how old they.

Speaker 2 (01:18:25):
Are i'm, Not and so, yeah we had to rehearse the.

Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
Lie they put a mask on you when you walked in,
there and you could take it off once you sat
at the.

Speaker 3 (01:18:32):
Table, remember my four year old has been two years
old for like eighteen. Months, now there you.

Speaker 1 (01:18:38):
GO i forget where my parents went WHEN i was,
younger BUT i stayed with my Aunt kathy and my Uncle,
tad and they took me to mcl. BOY i just
remember how MUCH i thought that was the greatest thing
in the, world like of all the things, that LIKE
i went golfing to my uncle and like all. That,
LIKE i just remember going to mcl and just being,
like this is. Awesome this goes back to our if
you had all the money in the, world what would
you do with? It someone said to bowling alley only

(01:19:00):
opened one day a week to the, public but then
you have it the other six days for if you
had all the money in the.

Speaker 2 (01:19:08):
World that's.

Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
Interesting now that's obviously you needn't think lanees, though like
it's just one.

Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
DAY i don't. Know maybe, YEAH i don't. Know may
it's like a ten lane bowling alley so you can
have some friends. Over would you go into a basketball, Court, JAMES.

Speaker 4 (01:19:20):
I probably, would, honestly you, KNOW i love my, hoops
and so having the indoor basketball court and the thought
of being able to just go shoot WHENEVER i want
is pretty. COOL i actually do it a lot often
when we're down to the station because we had one
of the. Basements so shout out to the.

Speaker 3 (01:19:33):
Company, yeah but you could affordunately a regular sized roof
though with it though unlike Those.

Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
Yeah you can't get too many higharchy. Shots you.

Speaker 4 (01:19:40):
Know Lou dort could not, Shoot Miles turner could not
shoot in that basement down there AT.

Speaker 2 (01:19:46):
Mss but nevertheless spend at the time.

Speaker 1 (01:19:48):
The basement has built For James johnson jumpers frankly downstairs
all right on the other, side how Was Tyler Warren
ben and Again joel A ericson from The Star hill
join us at nine. O'clock Kevin, Bowe James boyd live
here In, Westfield day five Of colts training. Camp is
this The rulo? Mark, yes it Is, GOSH i BELIEVE

(01:20:09):
i forgot this was. Him. Boy, yeah that's a concert
for live golf man who cares About bryson And Joaquin.
Neeman when you Got Jason derulo in the building here
upcoming in a few weeks that would Be, Westfield. Indiana
that is where we are right. Now and again the
skies continue to look at hair, Dicey but we're gonna
Have colt training camp here coming up ten am today

(01:20:31):
ten am to eleven. Fifteen it will be a full
padded practice for the. COLTS i found it interesting last.
WEEK i think it Was Tom manning the tight ends.
Coach actually might have Been Jim Bob. COOTER i think
it Was Jim Bob, cooter the offensive. Coordinator james said
that he was looking forward to Getting Tyler warren in
full pads because he thinks the rookie tight end has

(01:20:53):
some specific traits to his game that will be accentuated
even more in. Pads So i'm curious if we do
Notice warren a little bit more. Today, overall what have
you made of number eighty, four the rookie at Of Penn.

Speaker 4 (01:21:08):
STATE i thought he was very quiet that first day
of training Camp kevin AND i was thinking to, myself
did people forget that he's on the team he's throwing the?
Ball but after, THAT i think he's been very involved
in the, offense and, honestly he's made the quarterbacks look
better than they probably are with some of the catches
and some of the off target stuff that he's been
able to reel, in particularly With Anthony. RICHARDSON i Think

(01:21:29):
Daniel jones probably had a couple of ones that he
would see at back in that direction, too but For,
anthony he's Built anthony out at least three times THAT
i can probably count off of my hand when it
comes to just keeping the chains, moving which is something that,
honestly if you look at the quarterback, play you probably
need somebody to make some of the more acrobatic catches
because the ball isn't always going to be in the perfect.

(01:21:49):
Spot but he's an exciting player and SOMEONE i think
that is certainly going to make an incident impact in
his offense if given the opportunity, to you still got
to give the.

Speaker 2 (01:21:57):
Ball.

Speaker 1 (01:21:58):
YEAH i didn't think it was any sort of coincidence
with the best, day easily the best Day Anthony richardson
has had so far in camp Involved Tyler warren catching
the ball a lot from. Him that would have Been.
FRIDAY i want to Say richardson was like eight of
eleven AND i Think warren had three of those. Crabs,
yeah and one of them it was a one handy.
Grab and just in, General, james does it smell like

(01:22:19):
pancakes and? SYRUP i was just.

Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
Gonna, say what is? That had you AND i see.

Speaker 1 (01:22:27):
My mother one that smells that that smells?

Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
Amazing?

Speaker 1 (01:22:30):
Man is the lawnmower putting down pancake and?

Speaker 4 (01:22:33):
Syrup it does sound like it smells Like, batteryes this
smells like A, yeah it feels like a quest this
morning or.

Speaker 1 (01:22:39):
Something and, honestly it smells LIKE i walked into like
an ice cream shop here the hate batter ice cream.
Here oh, boy that's gonna really mess my brain here
for the next few. Minutes but, YEAH i would Say
warren in general the catch, radius it's just different for
him than other tight. Ends, yeah that's probably would be
the WAY i would describe. It but, again looking forward
to seeing him in full pats BECAUSE i do think
the deep down they're a little skeptical in him as a,

(01:23:01):
blocker which is. FINE i, MEAN i think you can
hide that a little. Bit but you, know, again do
we see the physicality that he played with The Penn
state because you, Know Penn state, man he threw some
dudes out of the. Club, yeah he got the ball
in his. Hands and do we see any of that
in as physical as they can be here During.

Speaker 4 (01:23:18):
Yeah he's not like a wiggle. Guy he's Definitely i'll
just run you, over drag you type of. Guy we
can go back to The John riggins film and he
was watching as a, kid And i'm curious see if
some of that shows up.

Speaker 1 (01:23:30):
Today ken full pads coming up ten a. M for
The colts to. Start time for. Practice let's go ahead
and get to Our fever focus from. Yesterday big start
for The Indiana fever and there hold on In chicago
they get the. Win Fever focus brought to you after
every game by Pay Less. Liquers get more and pay

(01:23:51):
less At Payless. Liquors, james it's rare that LIKE i
just simply point to like one, player and again it's
probably unfair to LIKE Kk timpson some. Others it did contribute,
yesterday but that was a day where you're very Grateful
Kelsey mitchell's back on the one year. Deal she was,
incredible and not just as a pure. Scorer she was
highly efficient yesterday as. Well much needed Without Caitlin. Clark

(01:24:14):
so my favorite focus goes right there to one of
the best scorers in THE.

Speaker 4 (01:24:17):
Wnba, absolutely thirty five points is nothing to, sneeze especially
in a forty minute game in THE, wnba they played
eight minutes less than THE, Nba so that was a
big time performance and they needed every bit of, IT i,
think to get past a little bit of a Feisty
Chicago sky team they were Without Angel, reeves but nevertheless
without that, PERFORMANCE i don't think you win that.

Speaker 2 (01:24:37):
Game but also.

Speaker 4 (01:24:38):
Shout out To Chloe bibbie as well on the seven day,
contract she came off the bench and scored eight points
to a couple threes, there and like you, SAID. Michaela
timpson continues to take steps. Forward the rookie out Of
Florida state very athletic and looks to get more and
more comfortable as the games go.

Speaker 1 (01:24:52):
By like question on the YouTube, chat any talk About
Anthony richardson's shoulder through camp so, Far, JAMES i would
say one area THAT i am generally surprised at is
we're sitting here on This monday, again this is practice number.
Five we just Watched richardson practice for four straight. Days,
yes he did have a SLIGHT i don't, know a

(01:25:16):
slightly fewer amount of reps than the individual. Drill, yeah
that is the only TIME i noticed anything shoulder, wise
and that's with my own eyes or just in his.
Workload if you would have told me a week Ago,
monday as we sat in studio right before coming out
here for report Down, tuesday THAT i would have watched
the amount Of richardson workload he just GOT i would

(01:25:38):
have been, Surprised SO i, MEAN i, MEAN i guess
that's a. POSITIVE i don't want to like overreact to,
it but you, know we certainly have unfortunately an availability
and a shoulder question With Anthony. Richardson i'm generally surprised
by the amount of work and the mount of throws
he did do in that first.

Speaker 4 (01:25:56):
Week, yeah and honestly it's a good thing for him
that he hasn't had any other sort of volume locks
on his performance or any regression when it comes to ramping.
Up i'm very curious to, see actually if it starts
trending the other direction where he starts to get all
the individual reps as. Well maybe, not maybe, so but
something to keep an eye. On but, overall, no it's

(01:26:18):
been a very, NORMAL i think approach For Anthony richsond
throughout training camp so, far which is really all you
can ask for at this point for a guy, WHO
i mean every few weeks it seems.

Speaker 2 (01:26:28):
Like has something pop.

Speaker 4 (01:26:30):
Up so if he can get to the rest of
training camp but no other, issues is mechanically or, physically
that would be a very very good sign for, HIM.

Speaker 1 (01:26:37):
I, think schedule, Wise Joel erics are going to join
us here in five. Minutes always enjoy chatting With. Joel
bounce some stuff off of. HIM i Know Mark dyten
might want to chime in on a particularly BIG Nl
central series, here although seemingly right now the only thing
BIG Nl CENTRAL i should involve The, reds but Nonetheless
brewers And cubs starting here this. Week Rick Vin TURRY

(01:26:58):
i think will join us coming up. Tomorrow usually we
have some sort of in person training camp chat with
Coach venturi and again tomorrow is our final show out
here of training. Camp it's the final weekday morning practice of,
camp so we'll shout with coach tomorrow And JAMES i
believe J. T Twoey malowaw will join us here coming.

(01:27:21):
Up he got banged up at the end of one
practice late last. WEEK i have noticed him moving around
a little bit, though and again from A d line,
standpoint the evaluations a little bit more here in, camp
so looking forward to. That we had him on If
i'm not mistaking right out for he was drafting, right,
yes we. DID i think he was one of the
draft picks we had. On so that's a little bit
of a look at what you can expect coming up

(01:27:43):
tomorrow on the. Show but right now here nine o'clock
Our JOEL. A ericsson from The, star he joined us next.
Here it is The Fan Morning show live here In. Westfield,
yes we're live here In, westfield final hour on This monday.
Morning Julie ericsson's schedule to join us here in a

(01:28:04):
few ten am the start time for. PRACTICE i know
at times here on This monday, morning the skies have
looked a hair, dicey but we're gonna give it a.
Go and it is full pads for the colts here upcoming,
Today so very much looking forward To James. BOARD i
think just offers further. Evaluation we've done the school analogy
quite a lot. Here if you want to call last
week welcome, WEEK i would say this week maybe we're

(01:28:27):
advancing all the way to kind of. MIDTERMS a little
bit more on the evaluation part for these, players particularly
guys in the.

Speaker 4 (01:28:32):
Trenches how would you Evaluate Brian mason every day being
out here running and getting it.

Speaker 1 (01:28:37):
In, boy that's a hell of an effort by that, man,
RIGHT i know he's out here every, morning he is
getting it.

Speaker 5 (01:28:41):
In he.

Speaker 1 (01:28:42):
Runs is he have headphones now or is he a serial. Killer,
NO i think he's just out here listening to the
sights and. SOUNDS i guess this be a special teams.
Guy you guys just got to be a serial, killer
because there's no WAY i could run around and with no.
Music he's he's smelling the maple, Syrup that's what he's. Smelling.
It gates are, open fans starting to descend upon the
facility here At Grand. PARK i Know Shane steiken won't

(01:29:06):
say this, Publicly, james but do you think in his
mind he has a timeline of winning? Absolutely to name it?

Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
Start? Absolutely what do you think it is to?

Speaker 1 (01:29:17):
Me i've been.

Speaker 4 (01:29:17):
SAYING i think it's by the second preseason. Game you
want to have that.

Speaker 1 (01:29:21):
Done so the first preseason game is a week From.
Thursday they will then come back To Grand. Park so right,
now let me add this. Up one five practices between
now And. Thursday then that following week they'll have, one,
two three, practices a joint session with The packers On
thursday the, fourteenth and then that second preseason game Is

(01:29:42):
august sixteenth inside Of Lucas Soil. Stadium so you circle that, date.

Speaker 4 (01:29:46):
Yep after that preseason game that, night that next, morning
you got a, starter.

Speaker 1 (01:29:51):
And you think he names that then.

Speaker 4 (01:29:52):
PUBLICLY i think he would name it, publicly probably that
the week before the last preseason, game because at that
point your players need to know as well and don't
need to sugarcoat.

Speaker 1 (01:30:03):
It now if you want to get, technical that would
be our Final we won't watch training camp practice after.
That our final practice will watch Is august. Fourteenth, yeah
so you know it's not like these eyes per se
would be getting a glimpse and do exactly What that
is good.

Speaker 4 (01:30:22):
Point but ALSO i just feel like at some point
you have to rip that band aid. Off and if
you think That Shane steichen hasn't thought about that, Timeline,
OH i have beachfront property to sell you in the
middle Of, indianapolis because to, me he, knows.

Speaker 1 (01:30:36):
Well have you Seen White? River very good, point have
you seen the? Canal come on, NOW i.

Speaker 4 (01:30:41):
SAY i say a beachfront, property not. Riverfront, nevertheless it
is still nice over. THERE i can find some weeds in.

Speaker 1 (01:30:47):
It beach over don't they there's a beach?

Speaker 2 (01:30:50):
There?

Speaker 1 (01:30:51):
Yeah like are we you, know stretching the truth a
little bit?

Speaker 4 (01:30:54):
Here but, nevertheless when it comes to quarterback, play he
has to know, right AND i still think that again
when it comes to, consistency the word that we keep
Hearing Daniel, jones, man you have not been consistent enough
to even give yourself the illusion of being in the.
League when it comes to his quarterback, competition.

Speaker 1 (01:31:12):
The Best colts player in camp not Named Treverius. Hoard
it's a good. QUESTION i might. GO i Look, pierce
If i'm gonna go, Offense he's look.

Speaker 4 (01:31:21):
GOOD i think that Cam bynams looked very good as.
Well trying to think of my Other Tyler warren's look.

Speaker 1 (01:31:30):
Good, YEAH i Mean Anthony Joey erickson always looks, good
does very.

Speaker 2 (01:31:34):
Handsome it has great.

Speaker 1 (01:31:35):
Binoculars joy care IF i get a glimpse of those? Binoculars?

Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
Yeah oh you can see my future those.

Speaker 1 (01:31:41):
Things? Baby how much do you think a pair of
these binoculars? Cost JAMES, O i'm gonna.

Speaker 4 (01:31:46):
Go joel strikes me as someone who's very got smart
with the money because of the.

Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
Children these are.

Speaker 1 (01:31:52):
Unbelievable so you can See sheridan from. Here, Yeah i'm gonna.
Go you spent seventy? Bucks oh, no they gotta be.

Speaker 2 (01:31:58):
MORE i THINK i got those on sale for like forty.

Speaker 1 (01:32:02):
Five, REALLY i told you he was not gonna be
sad like.

Speaker 2 (01:32:06):
That.

Speaker 1 (01:32:06):
Joel you Know MARK i said it took the UNDER
i MEAN i can read people's credentials from across the
d there. Beautiful they are really good.

Speaker 2 (01:32:15):
THERE i got him FROM.

Speaker 6 (01:32:16):
U if anybody wants to put a sporting good store
in The indianapolis area and is, listing.

Speaker 2 (01:32:21):
Get us A, shields get us A shields on.

Speaker 4 (01:32:23):
Sports, Really i've been To shields In nebraska AND i
lived out.

Speaker 2 (01:32:26):
There it.

Speaker 1 (01:32:27):
Is it's like dicks on. Steroids JOEL. A erickson From
The Anapolis star with us here live At Grand park
in full padd of practice coming up here at ten.
O'clock first, off thank you for joining. US i know
it's still a little bit early before practice officially gets.
Underway i'll just throw that same thing out through At.
JAMES i Know Shane segon won't say this, publicly but
do you think he has a date in mind of

(01:32:47):
when he wants to name a? Starter and if, so
what do you think that date.

Speaker 6 (01:32:50):
IS i was thinking about. THIS i think you can
get away with the new preseason. SCHEDULE i think you
could almost get away with waiting till the third one
after the third. One, yeah because there's that, time there's
still a big like it feels like there's a huge
chunk of time to me between the third preseason. Game
it was when it was four preseason, games it didn't
feel like as much. Time now it feels like it

(01:33:11):
feels like they played that third preseason game and then
we wait like a month for the. OPENER i don't
think it's actually a, month but.

Speaker 1 (01:33:17):
Technically it's two weeks in a, Day august twenty third
To september. SEVENTH i still think if you wanted, to
you could.

Speaker 6 (01:33:24):
WAIT i think the other thing IS i might be giving.

Speaker 1 (01:33:27):
It a little bit of a, longer longer leash because
right NOW.

Speaker 2 (01:33:30):
I don't have like a great like leader in.

Speaker 6 (01:33:33):
The clubhouse or, anything and that's got to start emerging
real fast For shane to have to make a.

Speaker 1 (01:33:39):
Decision do you think same quarterback plan this? Week fifty
to fifty? Split.

Speaker 2 (01:33:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:33:44):
YEAH i can't imagine that you'd seen anything from the
first four, Days And shane actually kind of said, THIS
i think On saturday that you.

Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
Know you gotta wait and let's see some stuff play.

Speaker 6 (01:33:54):
Out BUT i think you GOT i, mean you guys
have been watching as well AS i, Have, LIKE i don't
see a ton of separation yet from either, player.

Speaker 1 (01:34:02):
WHICH i would say For week one guys and feel
Free wealthy chime. IN i think that Hurts Daniel jones
more than it Hurts Anthony.

Speaker 4 (01:34:08):
Richardson, yeah we were debating this or, Earlier, joel if
there is a theoretical, tie Dos ty go to the
runner or the incumbent starter And Anthony?

Speaker 1 (01:34:16):
RICHARDSON i actually THINK.

Speaker 6 (01:34:18):
I don't know if you meant to do, This, james
BUT i think you Got ty goes to the. Runner,
Yeah Daniel jones can. Run Daniel jones is a very
good runner for most. Quarterbacks he's Not Anthony. Richardson he's
not a goal line. Weapon that is unlike just about
anything else in THE. Nfl there than Maybe Jalen hurts

(01:34:38):
on the tush. Push i'm trying to think of somebody
else who you can run him in so many different.
WAYS i think if they're as a, passers if you
feel like they're right around the same, area then just
the dynamic ability Of richardson plus the incumbent, stuff but
the dynamic ability Of richardson in the running games him
puts him over the.

Speaker 4 (01:34:56):
Top so we were also debating as anybody looked better
Than Shaveria's ward in, camp your thoughts on his play
so far and anybody else that stood out to, you
whether it's offense or.

Speaker 6 (01:35:06):
Defense no one's looked better than. Him ward is he
is a. MUSSY i love it every. Time now we
got long on one reps On, saturday which was huge
as the first time we got to see. That he
keep watching Before Alec pierce has gotten HIM i think.
Twice other than, THAT i don't know how many Times
i've written down catch on seven like it's every time

(01:35:28):
that he's, involved it's usually a PBu it's an. Overthrow
he also did something THAT i DIDN'T i haven't seen
anybody do in a real game in a, while like
the very first day they tried to run a deep
route With Pierce. Pierce pierce is one of the best
deep out runners in THE. Nfl like he had The
he's the first guy Since Deshaun jackson twenty ten to

(01:35:51):
average twenty yards per catch on thirty seven or more, catches,
LIKE i don't care what people. Think Alec pierce is
one of the best deep threats in THE, nfl and
they tried to run her out the first day And
ward got him pinned to the sideline and he couldn't
finish the. Route that doesn't happen To Alec, pierce Like
ward looks incredible right.

Speaker 1 (01:36:06):
Now, YEAH i would. Agree you think he shadows just
big dudes or do you think he also could shadow little?

Speaker 2 (01:36:12):
Dudes that's that's a really good.

Speaker 6 (01:36:13):
Question we haven't seen him necessarily against sort of like
The Tyreek hill waterbug type.

Speaker 1 (01:36:20):
Right, In like week one you Got Tyreek, Hill Janleen,
Wattle week two you Got Courtland. Sutton LIKE i look
at the, SCHEDULE i Think Courtland sutton seems like a
ready made guy for him to try and shadow The
hill And. Wattle AND i know we're getting in the
weeds with, This but The hill And wattle, Thing i'm
a little, UH i don't know about that.

Speaker 6 (01:36:34):
Well and like the other thing about it is just
there's not really a guy on this, roster This colt
troster THAT i think mimics That Josh downs is. QUICK
i don't know That Josh down's long speed is is
kind of the same way that you look At hill And.
Wattle he's more of like the slot. Guy SO i
don't know if we're gonna see and. Can't maybe Maybe
Zay flowers is maybe a little bit more Like that's

(01:36:58):
he's a smaller, guy but maybe in the joint practice
as we see Something Jayden. Reid but The colts roster is.
Bigger it's a bigger receiving. Corps at the exception Of
Towns JOEL. A erickson from the A Apple.

Speaker 1 (01:37:09):
Star he's with us here live At Grand park and
fans to start starting to come into the facility up.
Here ten am a full padded. PRACTICE i think a
good amount of full padded sessions here this, week five
practices in, Total, Monday, Tuesday thursday, night and Then saturday
And sunday. MORNING i Know Mark dyton wants to chime
in on what is a rather large baseball series upcoming

(01:37:31):
here in a few. Minutes before we get to that,
part we just ask you to Describe traveri's. Ward, now
can you describe the camp so far of Ad.

Speaker 6 (01:37:41):
Mitchell it's been. ROUGH i don't think there's any other
way to. Say He's. JAMES i think you said the
other day you had him for four. DROPS i Think
i'm in the same. Category there's also been a lot
of kind of what we saw last year where it
feels like there's a. Miscommunication you can't really, tell you,

(01:38:02):
know if there Was. Mitchell, NOW i will say, this
one of the differences this year, is like last year
when it Was, flacco if there was a ball that
kind of went, nowhere you kind of assumed it Was,
flacco or you kind of assumed it Wasn't, flaco you
kind of assumed it Was.

Speaker 1 (01:38:17):
Mitchell it's a little bit harder to.

Speaker 6 (01:38:18):
Do ALTHOUGH i do Think Daniel jones generally the ball
goes to the right, spot, like but it just hasn't.
BEEN i think the other thing that that kind of
stuck out to me is, that you, know his whole
thing is he separates better than anybody, else and we
didn't even see that the first couple of, days, right you,
know it has not been sort of the step forward
training camp that, like, frankly Like.

Speaker 2 (01:38:40):
Alec pierce had last.

Speaker 6 (01:38:41):
Year last, year at this, time we were, like Is
Alec pierce looks? Great, yeah you, know he looks. Different
he looks. Great he kind of, honestly he kind of
looks the same. Way this, Year mitchell has not looked
like that so.

Speaker 1 (01:38:53):
Far, no you, know.

Speaker 4 (01:38:55):
WHAT i believe you were the one that pointed it.
Out the narrative On Alex perce last year was very.
Harsh you, know you would think the guy's dropping past
is left and. Right whereas that label not to say
that we should like bully Eighty, mitchell BUT i think
that label kind of fits him a bit more this
year because he has not looked like taking a step.

Speaker 2 (01:39:15):
Forward but it's a pivot a.

Speaker 4 (01:39:17):
Bit we were talking About Tyler warren and some of
his early heroic acts so. Far how can he perhaps
help this quarterback, room no matter who it, is just
because of his ability to catch what would be in
theory uncatchable.

Speaker 6 (01:39:32):
Passes, YEAH i, think you, know we've kind of already seen.
IT i Think i've got four or five balls written
down To warren that really weren't great, throws and he's
made the catch on it and picked up. YARDS i
think he helps them just because some of. Those you,
know it's it's the kind of stuff that we've talked

(01:39:52):
about With richardson.

Speaker 1 (01:39:53):
Before where a four yard.

Speaker 6 (01:39:57):
Game as boring as it, looks is still better than
an incomplete. Pass it gets you in a better, situation
it moves the chains you, know and So warren being
able to make some of those catches on poorly thrown.
Balls the best one he's had might have been the
last day out. Here i'm pretty sure it Was. Richardson
there was like almost like a swing pass or a.

Speaker 2 (01:40:17):
Screen.

Speaker 6 (01:40:18):
Yeah he threw it way behind him and richards And
warren just stuck his left hand out and caught it
in stride and kept going.

Speaker 1 (01:40:25):
Running the other. Way.

Speaker 6 (01:40:26):
Yeah, yeah and it would have been it would have
been a short. Gain it wasn't gonna be a. Lot
but you know that's.

Speaker 1 (01:40:33):
Also the second and ten is now second and. Seven
it's the.

Speaker 6 (01:40:35):
Difference of it's a difference of second and ten and
second and seven. Now flipside is if the quarterbacks start
putting it Where Tyler warren can run after the, catch
they're going to hurt him a little.

Speaker 2 (01:40:43):
Bit but he's definitely gonna help.

Speaker 6 (01:40:44):
THEM i think with some of what we've seen him
having to make catches and positions that just, FRANKLY i don't.
KNOW i remember a ton of tight end catches last
year that weren't right in the bread.

Speaker 1 (01:40:54):
Basket he Is JOEL. A. Rickson you can read his
work over on The. Star him and Ad atkins out
here doing tremendous coverage when it comes To colts. Training,
YAM i am a subscriber To Andy.

Speaker 4 (01:41:04):
STAR i told you old every DAY i double check
my stats just to make Sure i'm, not you, know
too far off with my, numbers because he gets his
out so, fast he.

Speaker 1 (01:41:12):
Is all over it per. Usual it's a complicated. QUESTION
i feel LIKE i struggle with. IT i struggle with
it annually in training. Camp is one unit that good
or is the other unit that? Bad it's a great,
question AND i GUESS i asked that in regards to
The colts pass. Defense right, NOW i can't recall a
four day stretching training camp Where i've seen The colts

(01:41:33):
pass defense get their hands on this many, balls force
this many, incompletions not just because Of aaron, accuracy because
of fifty to fifty. Moments they're turning into eighty twenty
for the. Defense and SO i asked that to, You,
like they've made major investments back. There they brought in
a new defensive. Coordinator so part of me is, like,
no that is going to be a good. Unit but
Then i'm also like they're going up against a passing.

(01:41:54):
OFFENSE i, would you, know Rival, navy your army right. Now,
yeah the, hardest hardest, Thing the hardest.

Speaker 6 (01:42:01):
Thing is that is that we don't have because there's
been so much quarterback change over a year over, year
we don't have necessarily the same backlog of. Stuff LIKE
i remember WHEN i Covered New orleans the first couple
of training, camps it seemed like it seemed Like Drew
brees completed like eighty five percent of his passes in.
Camp there was never a pass break. Up then they
Got Marshaw, latimore they got some other, guys and all
of a, sudden Even breeze had some incompletion stuff like.

Speaker 2 (01:42:24):
That we haven't seen.

Speaker 1 (01:42:25):
That you, know that's not the same thing.

Speaker 6 (01:42:27):
Here there's no like eighty five percent, completion you know
in the back of this other than you, Know Philip,
rivers you, know back when we were stuck in the
corner and the.

Speaker 2 (01:42:37):
Cover SO i wanted the same.

Speaker 6 (01:42:40):
THING i think the biggest thing about this camp is
AND i won't be, There nate Will Dinah james will be.

Speaker 2 (01:42:45):
There baltimore And Green. Bay baltimore And.

Speaker 6 (01:42:48):
Green, bay you're gonna GET i think you get a
chance better look at what this secondary can do because
you can, like that's gonna Be Lamar, Jackson it's gonna
Be Jordan. Love those guys you expect to complete a
lot of passes if They're if we're writing DOWN PBu
over and over and over again in our notebooks those
couple of, DAYS i think that's an indicator that what

(01:43:09):
we're seeing from the secondary is.

Speaker 4 (01:43:10):
Real So, joel as the bachelor on the show and
someone who does not have, CHILDREN i do have a to,
ask how does summer look for your children right? Now
and is it coming to a close at? All Because
mark was saying his kids start up. SCHOOL i believe
this Upcoming, thursday which is kind of crazy to. Me That, Schoolday,
Wednesday i'm, Sorry. Wednesday so his children be back in
school On wednesday In. JULY i never went to school In,

(01:43:33):
july BUT i know your kids are. Younger but how
is everything going on in The ericson?

Speaker 6 (01:43:37):
Household, Well august in The erickson household is a rough
month BECAUSE i go back to work and then my.

Speaker 2 (01:43:42):
Wife my wife's a kindergarten, teacher so she goes back to.

Speaker 1 (01:43:45):
Work Oh god bless, Her amen to.

Speaker 6 (01:43:47):
Them so we kind of both go from not doing
anything in the summer to like one hundred and twenty
miles an hour right. Away my kids just got back From,
alabama yor not From.

Speaker 1 (01:43:57):
Alabama they're In.

Speaker 2 (01:43:57):
Florida they were At Novar beach last week. Opened but,
yeah you can feel it.

Speaker 6 (01:44:03):
Coming like they were up last night till about nine
thirty AND i was thinking to, myself this is not.

Speaker 2 (01:44:08):
Gonna fly in't about a week and a.

Speaker 6 (01:44:10):
Half it's it's fine, now but maybe maybe the older,
one maybe the older.

Speaker 2 (01:44:15):
One can make it that.

Speaker 6 (01:44:16):
Way BUT i mean my wife has to leave it
like six fifty with, them so, okay it's a it's
an early start. Time SO i they're starting to think
about more, school they're starting TO.

Speaker 1 (01:44:25):
I don't want to turn this into politics and you,
know where to vote and, whatnot but, man daylight savings.
Time as someone that gets to golf until ninety five
in the, SUMMER i now have not taken a one
to eighty on. It whatever makes, it you, know darker
earlier in the. Summer i'm all before that with with young,
children all, Right Mark, dyton the mic is yours you
And joel A ericson is the winner of this series

(01:44:46):
one The. Central are we?

Speaker 3 (01:44:47):
There oh, boy is it THAT i don't? Know tonight's
pitching matchup is outstanding. Though you Got misrowski For milwaukee
and you've Got Matthew boyd for The, cubs so they
specifically Saved Matthew boyd for this open are against The.
Brewers SO i will just pose this question In, joel
are you are Your? Brewers how many are they going
to win this?

Speaker 1 (01:45:05):
Series do you? Think and then are they going to
be buyers at the trade?

Speaker 6 (01:45:08):
Deadline they're definitely gonna. Buy it's probably not going to
Be i'm not Expecting, suarez but it's a Former, red
by the, way and The reds are.

Speaker 2 (01:45:20):
Interested The Cincinnati reds are. Interested did you see that?

Speaker 1 (01:45:24):
REPORT i? Did Matt Matt taylor's perking up over, there
AND i mean The reds are what six seven over
now six.

Speaker 6 (01:45:33):
Six and one back of the one back of the
wall card, Anyway So i'm not expecting any Of. SWAREZ
i am kind of hoping that there's a player who
people are not talking, about because The brewers have so
much controllable pitching that they can give up that that
they can they can make a move to the deadline Because,
mark you know this whether or. NOT i actually don't
think whoever comes out of this series wins. ESSENTIAL i

(01:45:55):
think it's a five game. Series when The brewers are
in nineteen of, eighteen.

Speaker 1 (01:45:58):
What are they doing playing a five game? Series?

Speaker 2 (01:46:00):
Marks mark's team did? That marks team did? That they
they Do there was a rain.

Speaker 6 (01:46:05):
Out there was a rain, out and The brewers wanted
to play at the doubleheader on That thursday of that,
week and The cubs looked at the schedule and, thought
you know what would be really. Good we should give
The brewers a five game series instead of a four
game series In. August BUT i think the other thing
is just it's it's how they come out of the.
Deadline how both teams come out of the deadline is.

(01:46:27):
Interesting Because, MARK i think you can agree with. This
The brewers are, pitching The cubs are, HITTING, yep and
whichever team can balance themselves a little bit more probably
has the. ADVANTAGE i still think The cubs depth of
their lineup is. Good but you, know once you get
rid of Some Ben brown starts off of your off
of YOUR i think that's probably gonna help.

Speaker 1 (01:46:48):
You, YEAH i don't like.

Speaker 3 (01:46:49):
That Seth lugo is apparently staying With Kansas. City he
was a GUY i had targeted for like a possible
trade deadline pitching. Ad but he looks like he's staying
In Kansas.

Speaker 1 (01:46:57):
CITY i don't. Know i'm looking forward to the.

Speaker 3 (01:46:59):
MATCHUP i wish all the best To joel outside of
these three, games so we'll see what.

Speaker 1 (01:47:04):
Happened he does not wish all the. Best. STOP i
help you.

Speaker 3 (01:47:08):
Guys have a great, season and then you, eventually you,
know dump all your. Players at some, Point Miss.

Speaker 1 (01:47:12):
Ralse's position one of his daughters to marry there at
some point on the.

Speaker 2 (01:47:17):
ROAD i know.

Speaker 6 (01:47:18):
BETTER i KNOW i you Know. Mark mark's in this
day after. Day there's no way he's wishing us a
good dead.

Speaker 1 (01:47:24):
Life you. Know central hatred is LIKE Afc north, Hatred
like THOSE Afc north fan bases hate each other with
just pure. Venom that's the L. CENTRAL i hate The.
Cardinals we hate The. CUBS i didn't used. TO i
used to have an affinity for The. Cubs, mark DID
i tell you IF i told? You but NOW i
will use that to your to get.

Speaker 2 (01:47:42):
Going he's gonna clip.

Speaker 6 (01:47:43):
IT I i used to have an affinity for The
cubs because growing.

Speaker 2 (01:47:46):
Up. WELL i mean most people know. This The brewers were.

Speaker 1 (01:47:50):
Terrible WHEN i was growing.

Speaker 2 (01:47:51):
Up we were in a threat to. Anybody, oh let's
see a.

Speaker 1 (01:47:53):
Bandwagon but you grew up In. WISCONSIN i grew up In.

Speaker 6 (01:47:56):
Wisconsin but the thing is, like WHEN i was a kid,
kid they were, americanly they weren't. Nationally that was towards
the middle of and my, grandfather because it was what
was on, cable watched a ton Of cubs.

Speaker 1 (01:48:08):
Games uh, my my.

Speaker 6 (01:48:10):
Thoughts and The cubs have, Changed, mark that's okay over recent.

Speaker 1 (01:48:15):
Years but speak your, Mind, joel but you have something
get off your, chest.

Speaker 6 (01:48:20):
Right But kb's, right THERE'S i don't think there's a
lot of a lot of fan bases in THE Nl
central that are super okay with each.

Speaker 1 (01:48:26):
Other, no, NO i think everybody's A.

Speaker 2 (01:48:28):
Cardinals the only thing we can all agree on is
that we all hate The.

Speaker 3 (01:48:31):
CARDINALS i think everybody hates The cardinals and everbody else
doesn't really care about The, pirates like they're gonna sell
everybody off. Anyway All skins is going to be in
a few. Years, YEAH i say. That you, KNOW i
wish you, Well but that's only just good. Sportsmanship in
case The brewers blow the doors off The cubs, TODAY
i REMEMBER i took the high.

Speaker 6 (01:48:48):
ROAD I i have already moved my brain to the
thought of h you, know whoever wins the division right,
now whoever wins the, division the other one would be
in the in the wild card, spot which sets up
a second round playoff, matchup WHICH i don't know if
my heart is ready.

Speaker 1 (01:49:06):
For, boy that is that is. INTRIGUING i will say
you that it's quite the week for The. Cubs they
got a three three gamer at the end of the
week against The Red legs here. Upcoming as Always joel A,
ericson we greatly appreciate your, time your, insight and as
a third, PARTY i will say genuinely good luck to your.

Speaker 2 (01:49:24):
Bruis good luck to your rids and as a.

Speaker 1 (01:49:27):
Team So i'm good of.

Speaker 2 (01:49:29):
It as specifically at the end of the, week.

Speaker 3 (01:49:32):
As a Current cubs fan to a Former cubs, Fan,
JOEL i wish you good, luck.

Speaker 2 (01:49:36):
Oh former the Former cubs fan is.

Speaker 1 (01:49:38):
Strong this is this is turning way too much. Wrong that's.
Strong where you please in the morning hate them The
Morning checkdown on five and The Fan joel A ericson
from The Indianapolis. Stars he's signing off with us. Here
he'll have your coverage. Upcoming it is day five Of

(01:50:00):
colts training. Camp the full pads will be on ten
am to eleven. Fifteen we'll get TO i don't, know
maybe a somewhat interesting roster move The cults mad here
in a few. Minutes we'll hit on that for. You
But James, boyd let's begin with what was a very
busy weekend in the indie sports. Scene let's actually start
up In. Chicago speaking Of, chicago and that Was indiana
fever all over the very banged Up Chicago. Sky Angele

(01:50:22):
rece did not. Play for those that care about That's
Caitlyn clark continues to miss. TIME a good. Thing they've
got the lefty and that is the Great Kelsey. Mitchell
because she was getting some buckets yesterday, afternoon.

Speaker 4 (01:50:35):
Thirty five points in a little under thirty. Minutes talk about,
efficiency and she made seven. THREES i did not know
this having the. Broadcast she's made nine threes in A wnba,
game which is the league of.

Speaker 2 (01:50:45):
Records so she can line it up when she gets.

Speaker 1 (01:50:47):
Hired If i'm matching sexist, correctly here we oftentimes say
a team might be another team's. Daddy if we're talking
about it from a male, standpoint would you call the
fever the sky's? Mommy? Yeah, first, sure they own. Them.

Speaker 5 (01:51:00):
Right.

Speaker 4 (01:51:01):
Yeah people keep saying their rivals because of. Proximity but
you got.

Speaker 1 (01:51:05):
To a double digit win every.

Speaker 2 (01:51:06):
Time, yeah this is unfortunately.

Speaker 4 (01:51:08):
Marked this is like growing up until recently BECAUSE i
will say The bear has won their last game at Level.

Speaker 2 (01:51:12):
Field but that's how it felt With Bears.

Speaker 1 (01:51:13):
Packers mark dyked be catching. ASTRAY i, Mean i'm with
him on. That i'm just, saying, man you got to
be honest about these, things right. BOY i, mean got
a comment a few minutes ago that he might.

Speaker 4 (01:51:25):
Regret hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, quiet be. Quiet you
ain't got to bring that. Up you catch, That?

Speaker 1 (01:51:30):
Mark, YEAH i caught.

Speaker 2 (01:51:32):
It oh, yeah it. Was it was pretty. Bad it
was actually very.

Speaker 1 (01:51:36):
BAD i have a feeling we might hear that before
ten o'clock. Arrived all, right let's get to the racing
from this. Weekend over at sixteenth the georgetowns Of Bubba,
wallace the First African american ever to win The brickyard
four hundred overtime out there by the way the Great Adam,
alexander who many of you heard of the. McCall sounds
like he's going to be out here At colts training,
camp looking forward to catching up with The North central

(01:51:56):
Grad but, Yes Bubba Bubba, Watson Bubba wallace Off Kyle.

Speaker 2 (01:52:01):
Larson honestly, fair that's.

Speaker 1 (01:52:03):
Fair i've Got liu golf arm up. Here Bubba wallace
holding Off Kyle larson there for the win on the
pretty cool scene post, RACE i, thought there with the
sun and just what. Amended even in the non like
the brickyard winning there which he hit on a, lot
it was important for him to qualify for the. Playoffs,
Unfortunately Chase briscoe struggled and did not have a great
race after being on the. Poll some other local Angles

(01:52:26):
Catherine lege top twenty and of Course Kyle, larson the defending,
champ was your runner up out In Laguna. Seka it
Was Alex polow race win number eight of the year for.
Him his dominance has been unbelievable and it continued. Yesterday
he led virtually the entire. Race christian Loun guard was

(01:52:47):
the runner up and rounding out the podium Was colton
hurda that is your podium out there At LAGUNA. Seca
busy month Of july is, complete AND i think With
polo winning that we have now done with any sort
of drama for the rest of the. Year from a
season series, standpoint that's really it on my. End you
guys got anything else from a weekend standpoint THAT i

(01:53:07):
might have missed.

Speaker 4 (01:53:08):
THERE i Believe terry McLaurin reported To washington commander's. Camp
otherwise he was gonna get fined a lot of money
to not be. There so he's now doing the hold
in and shifting from the. Holdout so The indianapolis product
trying to get, paid and then he's still far away
from a deal from WHAT i, understand with the command.

Speaker 1 (01:53:26):
And an ankle injury right is, reportably he's literally the.

Speaker 4 (01:53:29):
Tailor i'm gonna say he's taking The Jonathan taylor. Blueprint
he suddenly has an ankle.

Speaker 1 (01:53:34):
Injury he's on the pup list as of, now so
he can get all of his money without being. Fined
but we've seen this movie before here In.

Speaker 4 (01:53:41):
Indianapolis perhaps he has a little bit more leverage because
he is a wide, receiver very.

Speaker 1 (01:53:45):
GOOD a few people of the YouTube chat asking yes
jeff will be back, Tomorrow so we look forward to
having Jeff rickord back with. Us other ITEM i was gonna,
NAME i THINK i told you guys This Kyle. Schwarber you,
KNOW i know baseball historians would just laugh at the
thought of him as A hall Of, fame BUT i
have said he belongs in The hall Of Fame entertainment.
Section do you see the Sat On schoreber? Here, mark

(01:54:06):
he hit his three hundred and nineteenth homer over the.
Weekend he is the that is the most homers IN
mlb history within a player's first one thousand. Hits, wow
so he's reached a thousand hit mark and he's hit
three hundred and nineteen. Homers mark, McGuire crazy was three

(01:54:27):
Eleven Aaron judge for, example three oh. EIGHT i think
that stat further endorses first Ballot hall Of Fame entertainment College.

Speaker 4 (01:54:36):
Horber i'm telling, you, yeah but not in the actual.

Speaker 1 (01:54:39):
Hall, no, no, no But hall Of. Entertainment, Yeah Coylee
sharber's in.

Speaker 4 (01:54:43):
There, yeah this is like My Jamal crawford takes about THE. Nba,
Sure Honey badger for college. Football right then we say,
him very good.

Speaker 1 (01:54:50):
Point who was the other one From michigan who was
all Over Jabille. Preppers oh he was fun played both.
Ways Chris gamble out Of Ohio, state IF i remember,
correctly he tried to do the.

Speaker 4 (01:54:57):
ACT a QUESTION i have for you all. Travels but
you know we'll do it after The brucho do the
other side and we. Should Little tea's there From James.
Boyd Little colt's roster move as. Well we'll hit on
that coming up.

Speaker 1 (01:55:09):
Next Colts Training, Camp day, five full pad starting to
come to. Life we're here In westfield. Now you can
hear in the background the sights and sounds Of Colts
Training camp is alive and. Well, honestly if this cloud
cover could just, stay sign me up for that ten
am to eleven. Fifteen hopefully mother nature will. Cooperate from
A raine's, Standpoint, james because this is definitely the most

(01:55:31):
anticipated day so far off. CAMP i think always the
first full pad of practice is. THAT i think anytime
you get to week, two you know the staff has
now had today, off they can kind of regroup after
four straight. Days do we see any depth chart? Changes you,
know what's the quarterback plan and obviously the overall physicality
of camp about to ramp.

Speaker 2 (01:55:49):
Up.

Speaker 4 (01:55:49):
ABSOLUTELY i, mean this is the day where a lot
of football players will tell you the pretenders kind of get,
separate separated from the real guys and the real. Ballers
and so who stands out TODAY i think will be
certainly of, Note and particularly, Again i'm curious when it
comes to the quarterback play if the pads will make
a difference for someone Like Anthony, richison who perhaps is

(01:56:10):
a better runner Than Daniel. Jones but in fairs Of
Daniel jones when he did leads The giants in the,
playoffs he ran for like.

Speaker 1 (01:56:15):
Seven hundred yards, day you can he gets screwed as.
Well before we get to the tease That James boyd,
had do you want to mention? This The colts said
make a roster move a little bit earlier in the.
Show they signed Veteran Josh. Tupo i'm Hoping i'm saying
that last name. Correctly that is a defensive, Tackle. JAMES
i think it's of note in that this is a
dude that has plenty of history with Lou anarumo comes

(01:56:38):
over FROM i believe four years With loose Specifically yep
as a defensive tackle In cincinnati and he is six
three and three hundred and forty. Pounds it's been a
while since The colts ofvadde dude that big on their defensive.
Line and so from a space eating defensive, tackle is
this something That Ana rumo wants to? Explode, yeah and

(01:57:01):
you know again kind of retoolington this.

Speaker 4 (01:57:03):
Defense, Absolutely and then also to piggyback not only off.

Speaker 1 (01:57:07):
Of lu And, arumo But Chris ballor loves the.

Speaker 4 (01:57:10):
Trenches and if lou And arumo is saying we need this,
guy how quickly do you think that deal got? Done
because he's always trying to sign those guys up. Front
and you, know you Lose Tavian. BRYAN i don't necessarily say,
lose but he moves. On in free, agency you bring
In Neville gallimore and so now you have a chance
to add some more depth there and you never know
how things shake out throughout the. Season and so to,

(01:57:31):
me this is like a low, risk potentially high reward
type of pick up for the.

Speaker 1 (01:57:35):
Team AND i think anything defensive, related and there are
bigger storylines that will fall into this, category BUT i
think anything defensive related personnel. Moves it's always interesting when
you bring in a new. Coordinator you, know, yeah is?
It do we get to a point where it's, like,
no they're A Gus bradley. Guy, no they're A Louis arumo.
GUY i, MEAN i hate to black and white it

(01:57:56):
out that, much BUT i do think that is something
that you see around THE. Nfl so we'll continue to monitor,
that all. Right you had a little tease for us
here before yes the, break AND i kind of forget
what it was in reference TO i did.

Speaker 2 (01:58:11):
Have a little bit of a brain fart.

Speaker 4 (01:58:12):
THERE i can't remember the exact first part of, it
but along the lines of us preparing for football season
and preparing for college football season as, well and listen
to THE. Nfl who is your favorite college football player
that never became AN nfl? Star and to answer my own,
question Because i'll start it, off mine Is Braxton, Miller Ohio.

Speaker 1 (01:58:36):
State Braxton.

Speaker 4 (01:58:37):
MILK i still remember this spin move Against Virginia tech
when he switched to wide receiver after the quarterback. Injuries
he played white out in THE nfl, briefly but he
never really panned out at the next. Level but, Man
Braxton miller was, like to, me godly IN ncaa.

Speaker 2 (01:58:53):
Football he was. Phenomenal.

Speaker 1 (01:58:55):
Boy i'll try to, WELL i would say, NATIONALLY i
mean as an, again and a lot happened off the.
FIELD a lot might still happen off the field of this.
MAN i, mean Watching Johnny manzel play football was Quite.

Speaker 2 (01:59:05):
Yeah that was.

Speaker 1 (01:59:06):
FUN a AND M alabama game is one THAT i
will always. REMEMBER i mean from A Notre dame. ANGLE
i will, say, HONESTLY i thought you're gonna go basketball
BECAUSE i Love Luke Harang gody LIKE i love one
of my, kids AND i Love Haroen gody so so.
MUCH i just, MAN i want to give him. HUG
i might go man. Titeyo NOW i know he had
more than a cup of coffee in THE, nfl so

(01:59:27):
he might be. One i'm thinking like dual threat quarterbacks is,
honestly what's kind of like coming into my mind a
little bit. Here and he was At indiana WHEN i was.
THERE i always Thought Kellen lewis was a really good college.

Speaker 2 (01:59:40):
Player, yeah, yeah he was just.

Speaker 1 (01:59:42):
Kind of fun to. Watch that's a good. Point, mark you,
think get, like uh, Yeah i'm trying to get. Others,
mark you got ANY.

Speaker 3 (01:59:53):
I didn't necessarily like root for this, guy BUT i
thought he was really good and would Translate Matt. LIONER
i thought he would have a lot better pro career
than he ended up having because he seemed like he
was JUST i hate to bring UP Usc, kevin But
i'm just SAYING i Thought Matt lionert would have a
really good career and he just kind of he was
there for a cup of coffee and then now he's
doing the broadcasting. Thing BUT i thought he would have
had a better transition from the college of the.

Speaker 1 (02:00:14):
Pros fresh off of a, PLANE i believe From. Iceland
Greg reikstraw is with us here right now At Grand.
Park Greg, Greigstraw James boyd's, question a great college football
player that never panned out in THE, Nfl, well your favorite.

Speaker 7 (02:00:31):
One the thing is is the REASON i was gonna
let you boys be and Not bobby on the. Show
But i'm, Like we're At colt's training camp AND i
just Heard kevin Drop Luke Arong, godi And i'm, like
this man's love For Notre Dame irish. BASKETBALL i love
here snow, bounce except one for my own personal benefit
because literally my friends At Sports michiana posted The Notre
dame non conference schedule Like, thursday AND i THINK i

(02:00:53):
had some. DOWNTIME i was just sitting in my stateroom
on the boat AND i immediately TEXTED kb And i'm, like,
hey the vandals are looking pretty, good meaning we should
plan our next road trip For december the tenth to
Per Sell pavilion or whatever they're calling it these, days
to go watch A Notre dame basketball. Game and he,
said would you stop texting me and just enjoy your.

(02:01:14):
Vacation there is nothing more Than Greg greg's. Draw then
three forty On, tuesday all of a, sudden let's.

Speaker 1 (02:01:20):
Say that's seven forty by the way icelandic time to
him WITH jmv and he is still doing his weekly
segment And john has no idea where he, is and
all of a, Sudden rake lets him, know would you
like to go behind the curtain on?

Speaker 2 (02:01:32):
THEM i?

Speaker 7 (02:01:32):
Do, Yeah SO i teased it up that we WHEN
i was filling in For john The monday And tuesday
BEFORE i got out of the, country literally, like, HEY
i got a long trip coming, up so you won't
hear me on the show next. Week james of course forgot.
That So james text me like he normally, does on
a on A, tuesday about three hours out of the.

Speaker 1 (02:01:49):
Show, hey you good for the show this?

Speaker 7 (02:01:50):
WEEK i kind of look at our right tenerary for the,
day AND i knew THAT i was going to be
kind of. Chilling we had to get on another boat
to go whale watching at about eight Fifteen icelandic, time
and we were four hours. Ahead So i'm, like you know,
what this will be. Fun, yeah call the ship call
me because sell service worked just fine right WHEN i
was in the in The fjords or out in The

(02:02:12):
Arctic ocean or At North Atlantic, ocean wherever the hell we,
were and and so.

Speaker 1 (02:02:16):
Yeah we had a good.

Speaker 7 (02:02:16):
Time AND i kept trying to draw as many hints
To john as, possible you, know BECAUSE i Think ozzie
had just passed, On like, hey LIKE bbc broke in on,
this uh. Huh took about third answer For john figure, Out,
hey wait a, minute where are you in hilarity that.

Speaker 1 (02:02:28):
Ensued nothing Like, Amy, yeah the fiftieth birthday. Party we
have to put that on. HOLD i need to chat
With john here on A.

Speaker 7 (02:02:35):
Tuesday but you know, what that that paid off BECAUSE
i was supposed to fly Back friday night AND i
was going to be working at The brickyard On saturday.
Afternoon flight To newark went just. Fine new work To
indianapolis didn't. HAPPEN i fly Back saturday morning and guess
who fills in for me from noon to two thirty
on The brickyard preview show On.

Speaker 1 (02:02:54):
SATURDAY, JMV. Jmv look at. That it's a good THING
i got.

Speaker 7 (02:02:57):
In That icelandic football shirt was at the airport of
The New Free shop On friday.

Speaker 1 (02:03:01):
Morning one thousand. Percent you can rely on. HIM i
kind of forget what our national preseason schedule looks. Like
are you on the call for all three of?

Speaker 7 (02:03:09):
Them al Michaels is stop has stopped taking money from
my Kids christmas. Fund Good so for each of the
last two, YEARS i have lost the third preseason game
To Amazon. Prime, Myself Rick, Venturi Joe, wrights we all
will be sharing the duties this year for the preseason games.

Speaker 2 (02:03:24):
Right in the.

Speaker 7 (02:03:25):
BUILDING i will have all three, yep Love joe said
the teams in paths that he can show.

Speaker 1 (02:03:28):
UP i was gonna say full path that. Shot Joe
rights makes an appearance. Here it's probably maybe too early
to ask you, this but it was always a must
watch appearance When Jim mersey would slide in the booth with,
you are you Expecting Carli Erce.

Speaker 7 (02:03:40):
GORDON i have not heard whether that trend is going
to continue or out With. CARL i hope it, does
BUT i have not been told either way on.

Speaker 4 (02:03:46):
That, well another THING i want to ask, you right
besides football college? Football how many years is this for?
You i've been asking everybody around Here. Venturia has everyone beat?
Up Believe i'm in A i think he actually be
cheap because he got a Few baltimore years in there.

Speaker 2 (02:04:01):
Too but what Year colts camp is this for?

Speaker 7 (02:04:03):
You so the first TIME i went To Colts camp
would be two thousand and one At Rose holman and
it wasn't an everger. THING i missed two or three
years WHEN i was kind of away from the daily
beat and not for The COLTS. Jb this starts my
fourteenth year doing The colts radio, network and if you
skip THE covid, year this will be my seventh year

(02:04:24):
of doing the preseason games on. Television SO i have
now been kind of, back if not on the daily.

Speaker 1 (02:04:29):
Beat then the close to. It.

Speaker 7 (02:04:30):
Nice SO i was In anderson from twenty twelve THROUGH
i didn't want to say sixteen that we were. There
and then seventeen was the year that was back at the.
Complex everybody kind of, Knew, hey it's not going to
be a great, Year andrew's probably not going to. Play
let's just have this. Year then we started back here
in twenty. Eighteen and THEN i remember training camp in
twenty twenty with no preseason, games and we were just

(02:04:54):
we kind of had to stand like outside the indoor
practice or give like a certain amount of distance between
us and the.

Speaker 1 (02:04:59):
Player, yeah we're closer to The Eagle Creek airport than we.

Speaker 7 (02:05:01):
Were so that was my say that was my say anything.
MOMENT i was LITERALLY i was watching it indoor practice
as it was, raining with like the garage doors pulled,
up And i'm, like, WOW i really much love my
job If i'm out here doing.

Speaker 1 (02:05:12):
That, wow that was indeed life in twenty. TWENTY i
do see And kirka listeners reached out to, me it's
pouring right now on the south side Of. Indianapolis this
guy's don't look great up, here But RADAR i just
pulled it. Off he doesn't indicate anything too too, Crazy
so we are going to. Practice it looks like here
players are out on the practice field and less than
twenty minutes away from our first full padded. Practice, rake

(02:05:34):
we need to start our weekly eight am. COMBOS i
know we continue that a whole lot during the, summer
but we need to make that pretty consistent because every
Time i've driven By westfield so, FAR i don't see
players out just. Yet they were out this. Morning? Okay
are we? OKAY i was like six thirty miles a little,
early but are we done with more tore m or
are we starting high school football?

Speaker 7 (02:05:55):
Practice so high school football practice officially starts Next.

Speaker 1 (02:05:58):
Monday got.

Speaker 7 (02:05:59):
It, obviously teams have been, scrimmaging working, out et. Cetera,
basically if you're a fall, athlete you have two weeks of.
Moratorium july fourth is THE i ascy. Man they had
more tim for, everybody but then you have to pick another,
week and the schools can kind of pick this is
the other week in which our athletes will not be.
Practicing some take it this week as a, break others

(02:06:20):
just kind of take it over a two week. Pattern
so there were several scrimmages last week that were not in.
Pads everybody has a usually a full on scrimmage The
friday night before In august the, Fifteenth so this week's
kind of hitt and miss from workouts. Standpoint, obviously you've
got some schools that are back in. Session SINCE i
now have a high school age, KID i Know North
central starts On. Thursday but in terms of the official

(02:06:42):
practices leading into the, season Next, Monday august fourth is
the first full day of. Practice august twenty second is
The friday Night lights.

Speaker 1 (02:06:50):
Kickoff that man is back From iceland and you're gonna
hear him a whole whole, Lot and certainly we always
enjoy Our friday combos with Gregoricstraw, rek thank you And Mark.
Dyton let's do it one final time here live From
colts training camp In. Westfield this is The Fan Morning.
SHOW i think a pretty fitting final reentry Here Mark
dyton for the first day in full pads for The

(02:07:13):
Anapolis colts players out at. Practice the full pads are
on and we are about to GET i would say
a little bit of an amped up physicality, Now James,
boyd this might be the best the practice has, felt
though from a temperature standpoint in the city right, now
the breeze feels.

Speaker 2 (02:07:29):
Good it's.

Speaker 1 (02:07:30):
OVERCAST i mean it looks dicey from a cloud cover
standpoint in terms of potential. Rain but knock on, wood
hopefully the radar stays. Clear ten am to eleven fifteen
The colts full pads coming on. Today, yes it feels very.
GOOD i don't need my snuggie.

Speaker 4 (02:07:46):
Today it's not cool like as it was a few
mornings last. WEEK i know you looked at me and
discussed WHEN i wore a. Hoodie but feeling, good and
obviously it's a big. DAYS i think to kind, of you,
know separate yourself if you are one of the quarterbacks in,
particular or someone else on the roster who you think
the pads will sort of. Favor So Tyler WARRENCE i
want to keep an eye on because he plays a
bruising style of. Football and also When Chris ballad and

(02:08:08):
sang staking kind of hinted that being more physical throughout training,
camp does that literally mean when the pads come, on
will be more.

Speaker 1 (02:08:16):
Physical, Yeah so those are some things definitely to keep
an eye. On, again some of these longer drive. Periods you,
Know shane stressed that last week of you, know, okay
do we get a little bit more of whatever ten
plays with the, offense you, know Typically richardson Or, jones
no matters who is with the. Starters it's kind of
like a five to seven play period and then they
exit for the second unit to come in. There do
we see a little bit more of longer full team

(02:08:38):
periods again and not eleven on eleven? WORK i think
that'll be something to keep an eye on. Today do
you think you know full pads offers any more evaluation
quarterback wise or given the red, jersey it's pretty much
the same thing for.

Speaker 2 (02:08:50):
THEM i think it's pretty much the.

Speaker 4 (02:08:52):
Same, HOWEVER i do wonder if there's a few MORE
i don't, know run plays, involved power run with, quarterbacks
things of that. Nature but, yeah you if we can't
touch either of, them because if you, do you might
be getting showed out by the head.

Speaker 2 (02:09:04):
COACH J.

Speaker 1 (02:09:05):
T Twoy. Maloile that is our scheduled guest upcoming here
on the show, tomorrow and Hopefully Rico ventur you're going
to join us as. Well so we are a week
totally ten days. AWAY i guess from our first preseason.
Game is that a light?

Speaker 4 (02:09:21):
DRIZZLE I i was gonna say it is Raining Kevin,
bowen so we'll have to keep an. EYE i THINK
i think It's Mike chapel's. Fault he just walked. In
it's already.

Speaker 2 (02:09:29):
Raining you, know.

Speaker 1 (02:09:31):
He's got the, umbrella got the. Umbrella he's, prepared he's a,
veteran he knows what he's, doing, which, again typically if
you don't bring the, umbrella then you Get i'm still
a rookie at this. CHAT i have my bucket hat
and that's. It for those that are close to The
Westfield Grand park, AREA i still fully expect them to
attempt this practice. Outdoors just to be clear. Here you,
KNOW i See shane stick and walking walking on the

(02:09:52):
practice field right, now SO i think they're definite going
to give it a. Go, again the radar didn't show
anything like too alarming, here and you, know as long
as you're not getting lightning in the, AREA i think
you will try. This i'm trying to, Think, JAMES i
don't have the schedule in front of, me BUT i
know they're At tennessee early in the. Year you, know
from an outdoor venue, STANDPOINT i feel like they do
play a good amount of outdoor games here this coming,

(02:10:15):
season so you, know maybe a little bit of a
precursor to what you could have in some outdoor.

Speaker 2 (02:10:21):
Venues oh, ABSOLUTELY i Mean sennessie is early.

Speaker 4 (02:10:23):
On obviously IN la it's a, dome but they also
Play pittsburgh In.

Speaker 2 (02:10:27):
November that's gonna be a cold one for.

Speaker 4 (02:10:29):
Sure Kansas city And, november so won't get those sort
of elements out here. Today but, nevertheless it's always, GOOD
i think to play outdoors versus indoors when it comes
to football.

Speaker 1 (02:10:39):
Again today and tomorrow morning are the practices here early this,
week and then the rest of this. Week it's just
the big night practice On, thursday so that is eight
pm to ten pm with some fireworks afterwards On thursday's,
practice and Then saturday And sunday they will go at
ten am each those. Days anyone in, Particular, james you

(02:11:02):
kind of look at week, TWO i mean quarterback is
the easy. Answer, Yeah but IF i had to, say
like important week for this, guy it might be an
important week to make the, team it might be an
important week to you, know cement yourself on the depth.
Chart anybody you look at and, think you know, what
it's kind of a big week for that, guy big
week For.

Speaker 4 (02:11:21):
Ady MITCHELL i think after a rough first week of training.
Camp not saying he's going to be cut or off the,
roster but if you want an opportunity in that wide receiver,
room you got to show us something and then a
kind of a sneaky. PICK i think, that you, KNOW
rb three roll is kind of up for. GRABS i
think throughout the first few training camp, practices the running
back depth chart will probably Be Jonathan, taylor followed BY Dj,

(02:11:43):
giddens the rookie out Of Kansas, state WHO i think
has gotten a good amount of reps with the second.

Speaker 2 (02:11:47):
Unit But Khalil, Herbert Tyler, goodson you.

Speaker 4 (02:11:49):
Know we could one of those guys you, know you,
know be duking it out for that final spot at
running back and then tight end as. Well you Know
Jelanny woods flash a little bit last, week but if
you want to make that final, roster can you you
do something else to stand?

Speaker 1 (02:12:01):
Out? YEAH i think those are all good. Answers you,
know a guy Like Juju BRENTS i might throw into
that period. Too you think about the third corner right
now With Justin waally And Jayalen. Jones you, know Can
juju string a second straight week of practice, together and
you know, again once you get through the five practices this,
week it starts to get into a cadence of like
one to two practices preseason, game one to two practices preseason,

(02:12:23):
Game so your opportunities are just a little bit smaller
than they currently. Are SO i do think from that,
standpoint it is going to be a, big big week all.
Right as, Always, cam thank you on site Engineer Mark,
dighton great work back in, Studio James, Boyd Kevin. Bowen
we are signing off to preview the rest of the,
week J T Twoey malawaw, Schedules join is coming up,

(02:12:46):
tomorrow should have A colts Player. WEDNESDAY i Believe Rick
venturio at some. POINT i Think Joe wright Saw Joe
wrights in the building, today so you'll hear him a
lot here coming up this. Season, everybody have a great
start to your. Week thanks for starting This monday morning
