Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning, you met it all the way to Thursday.
That means another NFL week starts later on tonight. We'll
talk about that. We'll also talk about the Indianapolis cults
and how healthy they might be against I would say
a pretty crucial game on the road in Jacksonville coming
up on Sunday afternoon. Good morning everyone, and welcome into May.
I don't know is it the last day of the
year for attendance for Mark Dyton, because I know you're
(00:20):
gonna be off tomorrow. You're gonna be off Monday and
then off next Friday. How's this gonna work?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
You'll see me when you see me?
Speaker 3 (00:26):
How about that.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Takes me in, you enjoy my presence and then you
light a candle when I'm not here.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Is this how you speak with Ashley which she's mad
at you? Is that how that goes?
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Sure, yeah, if you want to, we can. We can
play that game.
Speaker 5 (00:41):
Sure.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
You will miss me. You don't know it now, but
you will. I said, that's every girl.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Though.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
You'll be back for the first day of the our
debut in the brand new studios next Wednesday, right.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
I mean that's the plan.
Speaker 5 (00:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
All of a sudden, we are up and moving, packing
boxes and all that stuff. So the plan is next Wednesday,
it's been told, so I guess we'll see.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
I can't wait to just get a chair that is working,
that the sides on at work, the back on it works,
because what we've been dealing with over the last month
or two, because we're moving and getting all brand new
equipment and all grand, brand new chairs. Everything's great. So
at this point in time, Kevin, anything that breaks here,
they're like, everybody shrugs their shoulders, like you get some
(01:23):
new ones in a week or two.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Now, I might not be working much the rest of
the year. My goal is to have the chair that
you're currently in be there when you arrive at the
new studio. And there's no replacement, then that will not.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
This morning.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Nothing I want. I'm like, can we I know we
can't move much. Can we move that chair?
Speaker 5 (01:42):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
He likes, he loves the posture it gives them.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Tuesday, at the end of business, this chair is going
to the dumpster. I'm taking it there.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
That's how that works, marked dead body.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah, well that when we could take two things over
to the dumpster.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Good morning, James, how you doing today?
Speaker 4 (02:02):
I'm doing good.
Speaker 6 (02:03):
I am kind of feeling for the Pacers because they
had another historic per formance against them last night, so
they kind of went through it. I you basketball went down.
I don't know how you feel about what was it
a court stormy though we're calling it, you know at
the barn last night. That was a little weird for
me this early in the season. But yeah, that was
pretty much my night yesterday, just catching up on some
(02:25):
Indiana professional and college hoops.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah, Kevin, I don't know that. We're all surprised that
the PACER's Nuggets game kind of went the way it did.
We can see that coming this year. How surprised were
you with the Indiana.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
So yeah, James, it's a great question. I don't know
if the court storm says compliment to Indiana or shows
you how bad Minnesota. You how to feel about it, Kevin?
You know me, I'm team Storm after every game. But yeah,
that's a horrific loss. I don't need to hear from
the crowd the road and the Big ten is vaunted
at all of that. No, no, no, that is a
(02:57):
really really bad loss. Indiana savored by ten. We talked
about it yesterday, you know, not to nerd out too
much over those numbers. But it is a quad three
loss if you want to look at it right now.
Minnesota lost three in a row. They lost to Santa
Clara in San Francisco among others there. So yeah, I
think you know, generally you have a question about Indiana's
makeup this year on the floor. I think you have
(03:19):
a question about is there enough from a physicality a
standpoint in the paint in particular.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
I've thought about that last night.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Yeah, to play and then this is a little bit
more back burner, but you know they did go out
and pretty much bring in a bunch of mid major guys.
Now again a high level mid major guys.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Tell that to Kurt Signetti.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Continue, but they're going to walk into environments at a
little different than their average Tuesday night game against you know,
bury View A and M or whoever. Lamar Wilkerson was
playing in his days at Sam Houston State. So not
that the barn was some menacing place last night. There
were about one hundred and fifty people in there that
all ran out on the floor once the game ended.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
That was so fun.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Big ten venues are big ten venues, So you know,
how will they react to that, but again, really really
bad loss for Indiana, and I hate to even like
talk too much about the resume in early December, but
just with how their schedule has been, there's not a
lot of substance, Like Marquette's not good and Kansas State
proved to just be a quad three wins. So you know,
(04:20):
Louisville on Saturday, Kentucky next Saturday, important games. Just to
get on your side of the Ledger as might not
seem like the biggest thing in the world become March,
It's gonna matter.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
It may matter a whole lot, and we'll talk about
that throughout the day as well. I know you James
of the famous Daniel Jones moving very gingerly video in
practice last week. We're at practice yesterday. Did we see
anything from Daniel Jones one win? But indicase as to
how he's moving this week?
Speaker 6 (04:47):
They had a walk through, so we didn't watch practice yesterday.
So based off how he's moving in the locker room,
he looked fine. Did get a kick out of talking
to him about the three D printed pad that he's
wearing on his fibula courtesy of his former college teammates.
College roommates actually as well at Duke. So I don't
know what your college roomates are up to, you guys,
but mine I would never trust with something like that,
(05:08):
although I might, like I said, my colleg roommate was
a mechanical engineer, so he might be able to whip
up something for me if I get in a bind
like Daniel Jones, but I.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Think one of mine had more parking tickets than college credit.
Speaker 6 (05:20):
But no, he seemed pretty excited to talk about that,
and I do think that there is a part of
him that's like, I just can't admit publicly whatever I'm
really feeling, and so we'll never get to the bottom
of that in actual real answers, but we'll see how
he feels the day down in Jacksonville. And then one
last thing I did, he saws gardener in the locker
(05:41):
room today. He was walking around no boot, moving pretty well,
a lot better than Sunday, So I would not expect
me to play this upcoming Sunday against the Jaguars. But
as far as his initial diagnosis of hey, it's a
calf injury, not something that's going to put you on IR,
it's trending in the right direction, So that was good
to see calf injuries.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Do you guys see what happened in Milwaukee last night?
Speaker 4 (06:03):
I did I know?
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Tena Koupo goes down clutching the back of that leg,
and again, like Sauce Gardner, they said they're not They
don't think it's it's they've ruled out. Let's put it
that way. They've ruled out in achilles injury. But he
has a strained calf. And I just don't remember these
things happening at this clip. Maybe we're tuned into it
right now, Kevin, But do you remember a time in
which so many athletes from so many sports were having
(06:27):
these calf injuries?
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Now?
Speaker 3 (06:28):
Yeah, it's it's a good question. Yeah, it does seem
like we're at one of those stages right now. James
Boyd Sunday ain't in the forecast.
Speaker 6 (06:37):
Yeah, I want to say, do I even own an umbrella?
My mom always halls mess own an umbrella.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
We own one, and I never know where it's at
and I just never find it, and like I need it.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (06:48):
Maybe I was spoil because I got to make it
from the car to the press box and this year
going to JACKSONVILLEGY, I kind of where to go. But yeah,
it should be a little rainy there. I know it's
ask Shane's talking about it. He said, it never really
like rains all the way through, so maybe it'll be
like a little bit in the beginning, a little bit
at the end, whatever. But maybe it just adds to
the weirdness of whatever this game might be.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
Daniel Jones, for what it's worth, was listed as a
full participant in the walkthrough yesterday. Well I point that
out because last week he was limited on a Wednesday,
So you know, again we'll see if is this injury
exactly getting better day Jones says it's getting better. Eyes
will you know, give a little bit of a better
picture of that coming up on Sunday. Anthony richardson an update.
(07:30):
We can provide that for you here in a little
bit as well. And yeah, Pacers last night man Jamal Murray.
Jamal Murray's one of those guys that I've always been like,
is he good or is he really good?
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Depends on the night.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
I think he's really good because.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
I feel like last year in the Olympics he was
awful or two years ago whatever that was.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
He's also been really good in the playoffs for the
little time.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
I think he's hurt though, Like he's either really good
or he's hurt.
Speaker 6 (07:54):
And when he was playing with Team Canada from breeding everything,
they say, he wasn't a hundred percent. But yeah, I
think that he's a guy who has a very unique
career because if I'm not mistaken, he's never made an
All Star team really, but he's also probably one of
the best robbins in the NBA, and he proved it
(08:14):
a few years ago and they won a championship. So yeah,
and again it doesn't go back to talent Kevin, it's
because he's always hurt. He only plays it like maybe
fifty games he seems like. But boy, if you catch
him at the wrong time it did last night, he
can put it on you. Ten threes for that guy,
ten out of eleven. That's better than most guys shoot
free throws.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
And that's kind of the thing with Murray too. He
is when he gets on one of those hot streaks,
and we've seen that even in the playoffs. The Nuggets
have done that in the past. He's a guy that
just give him the ball because he just won't miss
for about eight or nine minutes of game play.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
Yeah, special player, and I believe it was a twenty
five to three run that kind of did him in
because the rest of the game, the Pacers were kind
of taking it to him and win that game. But
as you've seen this year, there's always a variety of
ways you can win a game, but also for the
Pacers in this particular year, there's variety of ways in
which you can lose. And sometimes and they let the
rope go for like five or six seven minutes and
(09:07):
there's the game.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Yeah, second quarter, you just want to boil it down
to a twelve minute chunk. That second quarter just killed
him last night.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Honestly, the best part of the game was Rick Carlile
getting on the broadcast was the.
Speaker 6 (09:18):
Best part was when t J McConnell gave was like
Mark a slap on the Mark.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
We get some audio there for Rick Carlile getting ted
out in front of Adam Silver. I'm like, that's very
fitting in the week that we have had here with
Rick Carlisle talking about that.
Speaker 6 (09:30):
But I enjoyed TJ McConnell giving his former teammate at Yeah,
that was on the backside, like hey, I'm here.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
A little to get me.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
I love that Adam.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Adam could get me by that, but Goodell can't.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
He can't, he can't get he can't touch me, but
Adam can.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Yeah. And Adam was very close by last night in
the building there. So yeah, that notes to Shane Stike
and just do it. I'm telling you it's gonna work.
That got real ugly in the second quarter. I was
I was disappointed to see that. You know, I think
you'd like to see the Pacers a little bit more
competitive at the very least in some of these games.
Is again, Denver was down you know, two starters last night.
But yeah, Jamal Murray, uh yeah, ten of eleven, as
(10:10):
James said, just absurd.
Speaker 6 (10:11):
I saw some crazy stat wits airs on their team
this season. The Nuggets score at least points Jamal Murray,
Nicole Yelkicch, and Aaron Gordon.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Aaron Gordon had a fifty.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Point game earlier this year.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
Earlier.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
That's crazy.
Speaker 6 (10:24):
I'm like, what is going on? How much talented in
this NBA right now? Because that is absurd?
Speaker 1 (10:30):
All right, coming up at a moment, we'll check it
down for you. Mark, What do we have coming up
for guest today? The Great Thad mada is going to
join us at ay thirty this morning. What else is
going on?
Speaker 2 (10:37):
Scott Agne is gonna check in at nine, and then
of course Jayson Hammer are gonna kick the door in
like the kool aid Man and give us some Thursday
Night football picks tonight.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
He's been good, Ready to go?
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Yeah, good, good, good one to night on Thursday Night.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Tell you all about it as we continue. Next, it's
The Fan Morning Show with kb JB, Jeff and uh
the guy named Mark Dyton. Who catch him now because
he might be gone for the rest of the year.
It's all coming up now.
Speaker 7 (11:00):
The morning checkdout on Nutty Sweet five and one oh
seven five The Fan.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Good morning.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
It's still a little bit cold, but we are traveling
on either way. Football starts tonight another week of the NFL.
Pretty good one that Dallas Cowboys the Detroit Lions. How
interested are you, mister Chicago Bears NFC.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
North fan about the Packers?
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Know about the Lions tonight?
Speaker 4 (11:25):
Lions and Cowboys?
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Yeah, not really any of the other.
Speaker 7 (11:29):
No.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
I think we're an NFC North fan of every team
I know. But I'm also I don't want every other
team to lose. I was waiting for some hates. He
gave it all to me, apparently. I don't hate the
Lions as much as you know the Packers and Vikings.
I hate those teams a lot more the Lions. You
feel bad for him because they hadn't gotten the Super
Bowl or anything like that. But I think it is
(11:50):
a critical good game for both teams, the Cowboys and
the Lions, because the Lions are kind of tailing off
a little bit. Cowboys are kind of resurging. But boy,
I don't know. I feel like a loss for either
team tonight could be it'd be tough.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
It looks like a pretty fun game either way. It
sets the stage for the rest of the week that
will have the Indianapolis Colts taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars
Sunday at one o'clock. On top of everything else, could
this be a rainy, drizzly Day two for the Colts.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
Yeah, weather looks a bit dicey down there in Jacksonville,
so yeah, something to keep an eye on. I would
assume that favors Jonathan Taylor in the run game, but
who knows. Jackson's run defense actually has been pretty good
this season, so that was something to keep it on.
How about well, if Jason Hammer, easy for me to
say join us at nine to thirty. The over under
(12:34):
tonight is fifty four and a half for Lions Cowboys.
That has got to be one of the highest we've
had all year. And you gotta love that the Browns
Titans over under on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Thirty eight and a half? What is it?
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Twenty four h thirty three and a half. Those might
be the highest and the lowest we've had all season.
First to score safety wins Miles Garrett against Jefferyson, is
that what the game is? Pretty much?
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Pretty much?
Speaker 6 (13:01):
I mean, at this point, if you're a Browns finger
just watching the see of Miles can get the sack record.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Lions Cowboys first two teams out right now in the NFC,
and the wild card has got some pretty good records there.
So yeah, to Mark's point, both those teams need to
get something started here pretty quickly.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
When the schedule came out, youre probably like, oh, Shuter a,
Sanders cam Ward. Now you're kind of like, can this
game get canceled?
Speaker 6 (13:22):
I think Brown's game has just intrigued me because of Shador,
whether he plays good or bad, it's hilarious TV doesn't.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Almost feel like Stefanski has been forced to play him
too by both folks upstairs.
Speaker 6 (13:34):
Not really, in my opinion. I mean, the quarterbacks in
Cleveland stink, so why not give him a try.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
My favorite thing was that I opened the Athletic yesterday
and they had a twenty twenty six NFL mock draft,
and who was drafting a quarterback number one overall?
Speaker 4 (13:46):
The Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
I'm like, how may lower quarterbacks?
Speaker 4 (13:48):
Then have Fernando windows I want better for you?
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Yeah, I saw that.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
I was like, oh boy, Fernando may want to stay
an extra year.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
So Cults of Jaguars Sunday afternoon at one o'clock are
coverage starts at ten am with JMV and Matt and
the gang, and we'll get you ready to go for
a full day of football.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
Player.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Speaking of a full day of football, you can watch
football day long Saturday. It'll culminate at eight pm over
at Lucas Oil Stadium as the number two Indiana Hoosiers
take on the number one ranked Ohio State Buck Guys
already starting to see all the social media memes show up.
There's tends to be I think India is trying to
build this up as a rivalry. Ohio State's trying to
like brush it off like it's just another just next,
(14:27):
just next. It's time for Indiana to step up and
announce themselves with some authority.
Speaker 6 (14:33):
James, you got a chance to You've done it the
last two years, really just kind of raising your middle
finger to all things that are supposed to be college football.
You've bucked every trend and can that continue this upcoming
Saturday and a huge matchup for your program and what
is one of the biggest games in program history.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
For sure.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
Those ticket prices are skyrocketing. By the way, have you
checked this morning? He it's north of seven hundred, right,
mid seven hundred. Can it's just to get in a deal?
Ticket to get in the building is now north of
seven hundred. So we have risen about three hundred dollars
since Monday.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Yeah, I'm in trouble too because those above me have said, hey,
can you can you find any tickets I'm willing to
buy him. I'm like, I've called everyone I know at
every network I know, and they're like, yeah, those are
gone a long time ago. It's just not happening.
Speaker 4 (15:19):
Just send them the ticket master link. Next time.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
M hm, you do that to your boss and this
is how you do it.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (15:25):
I think that's always a weird proposition. People ask like,
how do I get tickets? And I'm like, the same
way other people do.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
You're begging probably better than mine does.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
He probably got more connections.
Speaker 6 (15:34):
As I told you, my high school principle acts if
I can get them tail swop tickets, and I was like,
that will never happen.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
To be fair, I don't think this person had high expectations.
They were just kind of throwing the line out there.
So all right, so that's going to be happening Saturday
night over at Lucas Oil Stadium. Meanwhile, did you guys
see Miles mcloughlins committed to play college football at Murray State?
Kevin'd you catch that?
Speaker 2 (15:53):
I did?
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Yes, saw that. A couple other items around the state.
Saw Jeremy Finch junior. He did the hat thing he
did the Alabama has.
Speaker 1 (16:04):
It's fun for the kids.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
I kind of feel bad for the schools when they
do that. I'm kind of like, I mean, I mean,
they just offered you a full scholarship and now you're
just kind of throwing their hat to the side. But
you know, I probably wouldn't feel too bad for him
Tennessee for him.
Speaker 8 (16:16):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
And then Jet Goldsberry who's committed to Old miss and
Lane Kiffin that is a Purdue legacy. Barry Odom flipped
him late. Jet Goldsberry two way player down there from
Heritage Hills. So yeah, little newsy items around the state
of Indiana. Yeah, Murray State their FCS right, that's where
Miles mcloughfam y.
Speaker 5 (16:33):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (16:35):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Here's another thing too, Penn State with no head coach.
They currently have four players committed to their class for
this freshman year. Eleven of the other commits, the old
commits are going with James Franklin to Virginia Tech and
they've been the rest of them have been decommitting by
the day over the last two weeks. And I don't
(16:56):
think Penn State's any closer to finding a head coach
now than they were they fired James Franklin six weeks ago. James, Yeah, I'm.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
Not sure where to go.
Speaker 6 (17:05):
Like I said, I'm still relatively new to how the
whole college football world works. All of it is wonkey
to me, and this is another unique situation for sure.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Yeah, no question about that Another football note, Mark Andrews.
How old do you think Mark Andrews is?
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Mark Andrews twenty eight?
Speaker 1 (17:21):
What do you think I would go?
Speaker 4 (17:22):
Twenty eight? He's thirty and.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
He just signed a three year extension with the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
Yeah, I don't get that extension.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
And every single though he was older than he was too.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
I thought he was like thirty two.
Speaker 6 (17:32):
But every single insider who broke that news keeps saying, oh,
he's you know, his game will age well and he's
gonna be a focal point in their offense. He's not
having like he's not having a bad season. It's he's
having a fine season. But I mean, he's tapered off
from where he was a few years ago. So I
just don't I don't understand that. So I'm very curious
(17:53):
to see what it all means going forward. And you know,
I don't think that his impact will really make a
difference this year for the Rave as they're kind of
banged up.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
A college basketball last night, number twenty two Indiana. We
talked about it a few moments ago, and they go
on the road to Minnesota and lose at the Bar
in seventy three sixty four looked like they were getting
out to a decent start and then they got cold
and they got out hustled. During that basketball game, I
think they were out rebounded by double digits. They were
turning the ball over. Hard to win when you keep
giving possessions away.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Yeah, I think that is a question, and Darren Reids,
I think has been pretty honest about it. Of Hey,
rebounding and defense, that's something that you know when we
get into conference play, what is that going to look like.
But yeah, again, that is a that's a very bad loss.
I can't listen to the Big Ten road crowd. That
is a loss that will not age well on the
(18:43):
old resume. Minnesota is awful. I was looking at the
the net last night, which the tournament committee looks at Minnesota.
The five teams currently above them in the net rankings
iona Portland State, Saint Thomas, is that in the Virgin Islands.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
You're asking a wrong person.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
I'll have to google this, Colgate and U. T. Martin.
Those are the five teams currently above Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Hopefully this will start a big winning streak for them
and they'll win a couple of Big Ten games and
get themselves back up to a reasonably respected level. That's
all you can hope for if you're in the added
from that loss right there. But the Hoosiers, now that's
the first loss of the year. Taylor Connorway had eighteen points,
Lamar Wilkerson fifteen. Sam Alexis had ten. Also last night,
I you Indy losing at Detroit Mercy ninety two to
(19:36):
seventy eight. Anything else you want to throw him in?
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Well, yeah, we gotta mentioned the Pacers. They get blitz
in the second quarter last night. Jamal Murray goes off
for fifty two to ten of eleven from behind the
arcs there. Just one of the more incredible performances I've
seen in that building. Johnny Furfy did return for the Pacers,
So if you're in the optimistic category about seeing some
more young you do have fur feedback in the lineup there.
(20:03):
So yeah, got ugly real quick there just before halftime
in the Pacers somewhat did the fake RN but never
really truly threaten the rest of a way.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Yeah, one thirty five to one twenty was the final score.
We'll talk about that more throughout the day. Thad Mada,
head coach of the Butler Bulldog's going to join us
at eight thirty. We'll talk more about the Jaguars and
the Colts.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Next.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
It's ninety three five and one O seven to five
the Good Morning, and welcome into the Fan Morning Show.
And I'm just curious, guys now that we're here on
Thursday and the Colts have had their walk through yesterday
and now they have a brand new kicker, and who
knows what's going to happen against Jacksonville on Sunday, But
are we have we taken a collective breath? And we
feel like maybe the Colts are going to take a
collective breath and they can just go out and start
(20:43):
to turn the clock back to what they did the
first half of the season and maybe put Jacksonville back
in his place. And I asked that question because I'm
listening to John's show yesterday and he's got one of
the reporters on for the Jacksonville Jaguars who basically said
he still doesn't believe in that football team. That they
got a lot of issues still. So maybe they got
their own issues going on and the Colts can use
that to go in there and break this ten year
(21:04):
losing streak. Kevin you feel any better today than you
did twenty four hours ago or No.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Jackobs have had their issues every year going into this game,
and they seem to be just fine.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
Yeah, I'm not really sold on Jacksonville at eight and four.
You know, I think I brought up earlier in the week.
Speaker 9 (21:20):
You know.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
Last week, for example, was Trevor Lawrence's first game all
season with a passer rating over one hundred, and just
to put that into context, Daniel Jones has nine such
games this year now. Having said that, to March's point,
Trevor Lawrence has towards the Colts in the last three years.
So I get that everyone and say, oh, well, hey,
that's just the hecks of playing down there. Well, I
(21:41):
mean this is Louisna Rumo now and not Gus Bradley,
So you would hope that you would see some improvements
down there. You know, one thing on paper that I
think will be interesting to keep an eye on for Sunday.
And you know, weather, push the weather to the side
for a second, James. If you look at it, Jacksonville
is a very good run defense team. Their questions are
more with their pass defense right now. With the Colts offensively,
(22:05):
I know, Jonathan Taylor hasn't been great by any means
here recently, but you'd probably feel more comfortable handed. And
it's to twenty eight than necessarily having Daniel Jones dropped
back thirty five times or however you want to, you know,
put that out there. But again, on paper, it seems
like Jacksonville's a little bit more susceptible through the air,
and we should probably point out, you know, the Colt's
(22:26):
injury list isn't clean by any means, of course, but
Jacksonville had some notable dudes on their injury report yesterday.
Starting left tackle Walker Little is in concussion protocol, they're
leading white out, Parker Washington did not practice yesterday, Trayvon Walker,
the first overall pick from a few years ago, did
not practice, and their top snap guy defensively, they're starting safety.
(22:48):
So I mean those are four notable and then I get
it the Cults will likely be without Buckner and sauce Gardner,
so Jacksonville also pretty banged up.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Well, the Colts just going to try to regroup. And
you said you saw sauce Gardner at least walking and
not with a huge noticeable limp in the locker room. Yesterday.
He's obviously not going to play this week. Do we
have any other injury concerns or updates? Still nowhere near
the Forest Buckner right well.
Speaker 6 (23:14):
The Forest can't come back right until next week, so
that is the earliest he could come back with Sauce. Yeah,
some in the locker room seeming to be pretty good spirits.
But I know you wanted to give an update on
Anthony Richardson, Kevin that you tease earlier in the show.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Yeah, So there were a couple different questions about Richardson,
and you know, James, you know this full well in
Shane Steike and Lingo. I actually think there was some
updates on Richardson. And you know, when you think about
the three injured guys right now, we talk about the
most Sauce Gardner to Forest Buckner, Anthony Richardson. There have
been not definite, but there have been mentions of DeForest
(23:51):
Buckner playing again this season, Sauce Gardner playing again here
in the next couple of weeks. We haven't got there
with Anthony Richardson yet. No, And so basically on the
Richardson front, he is back in the building. I believe
Sunday was the first time we've seen him on the
sidelines since the injury started.
Speaker 6 (24:09):
I believe Stephen Holder report he actually traveled. I want
to say to Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
Oh he did. I thought it was just Buckner. Yeah,
that did travel. So again, he is starting to be
back present, I guess is probably the best way to
put it. And Shane second did say he's doing some
weight room stuff. But again I stand by nothing eminent.
You know, I asked Steven Holder yesterday when we had
him on, you know, better chance to play in December,
Sauce Gardner or Anthony Richardson, And I think the bet
(24:37):
there would be Sauce Gardner. So you know, I've gotten
a lot of the Richardson questions lately. James, I'm sure
you have as well. But I would to summarize it all,
I'd say it's still very much up in the air
if he's going to play again this season. Having said that,
he is at least back in the building and starting
to do some stuff. But as Shane stick Can pointed out,
(24:59):
you know, clearance means full vision in the eye. That's
not just hey man, your ankle's a little bit twisted,
Go ahead and tape it up and play on it.
I mean, this is a little bit of a different
injury situation.
Speaker 6 (25:10):
And to be fair to you, you actually were correct.
He did not go to the Kansas City game. That
was the Forrest Buckner. But according to Stephen Holder, the
hope is that Richardson can attend some upcoming road games,
perhaps this weekend. Who was a Florida guy, of Florida native,
so maybe he'll be able to from that area, right, Yeah,
So it's unfortunately he never really got a chance to
play down there, and I dont think about it.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Anthy Richardson has not lost to Jacksonville on the road. Well,
eight Colts quarterbacks have lost to the Jags in this streak,
not Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
Lord, I don't know. I couldn't name all eight. I'd
probably give you four or five.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
Oh you could name all eight.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
I can't name all eight. No, I really could come
up between the two.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Play the game.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
Andrew Luck obviously, right, that's one Andrew Luck, Philip Rivers,
Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco, gardnermanship to Kobe Brissett, I mean
is that I think.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
I gotta go back to my notes. But you guys
are you guys are on a roll. You get six.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Of the eight?
Speaker 4 (26:09):
Ying, Yeah, I think that's six of the eight.
Speaker 5 (26:12):
Boy.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
I gotta think of.
Speaker 6 (26:14):
Scott Tolzane starting down there at one point, I gotta
go back. I'm trying to think. You guys are missing Matt.
I do remember that's seven. You guys are missing one,
all right?
Speaker 4 (26:24):
So right off?
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Who we have got? You got Wentz Luck, Rivers, Flacco,
Minshew Bersett, and we've got Matt Ryan Hassleback, Matt Hasselbeck, James.
We talked about this in the media room yesterday. I'll
never forget this game when this and by the way,
I have a dose of optimism here that I will
get to okay. But to start the streak twenty fifteen,
(26:47):
the Colts had won sixteen straight AFC South games. I
think that's one of the more remarkable stats. That is crazy,
frankly an NFL history, that the Colts had won sixteen
straight divisional games. Go into a Jacksonville game late season
twenty fifteen. It was Matt Hasselbeck under center. This is
when the Andrew Luck shoulder issues started. The Cults were
(27:10):
leading near halftime of that game. I vaguely remember some
sort of strip sack situation and the Colts are losing
their lead in Jacksonville scoring. I want to say it
was like forty unanswered the rest of the game. The
Colts lost fifty one to sixteen. Back in that twenty
fifteen season down there, that ended the course of the
(27:30):
sixteen game AFC South streak, And it has started this
streak now, which is ten years now, the dose of
optimism which we need, this streak of colts Hell again.
The Cults have a better chance to win an Alcatraz
than they do in Jacksonville started Week fourteen of the
twenty fifteen season.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
What Sunday, Oh, it's week fourteen of the twenty twenty
five season.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
So ten years ago to the sacked week it started,
it shall end.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
Chance.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
How about that full circle.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
That's optimism, folks. That's not a curse. That's not drinking
glass half empty. That's saying the Cults are going to
go down there and do exactly what they did week
one and the streak jump in the pool afterwards. Does
a pool still exist down there in that stadium?
Speaker 1 (28:24):
I think it rains it's going to be a pool.
Uh minus one and a half. Still the line the
Cults still favored in this one. So the bookmakers still
like the Colts.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
James, would you post up Blake groupie Colts kicker? Would
you go mouse in the house? Would you go Patrick Bemer.
Speaker 6 (28:40):
Normally I would joke about this and say, oh, absolutely not.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
But yes, he's he's.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
A very.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
Small guy.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
You can get lost with you seven six for Blake
groupie suitcase still in front of the locker. I believe
he said he's been in three hotel rooms since I
got to rout.
Speaker 6 (28:57):
Of scale on that too. For one fifty six, I'm
dead serious on you think soaking what? Yeah, I think
that's one of those things where you know, we all
had it in high school. Our coach gives was an
extra inch ten to fifteen pounds on the roster because yeah,
that's a small dude, but there have some high expectations
for him to really just stabilize their kicking you in,
and he certainly comes with his Wartz missed eight of
(29:20):
twenty six kicks this year. Not a good number has
missed two I believe within the thirty to thirty nine range.
I want to say maybe three between the forty and
forty nine range. So that is something to note going forward.
But I think, and you talked about this Kevin yesterday
when we were in the media room, you had to
do something. From an optic standpoint, a guy can't keep
(29:42):
missing point after attempts and you keep him around, especially
because I don't know if it's just me, but from
a psychological standpoint, I wonder how much that weighs on
a team when you feel like you can't even make
the chip shots, the gimmes. I think it's more you
can forgive a player more, even as a teammate, if
he misses a field goalver just miss it, Like, dude,
we just went all the way down here to score
(30:03):
and you just killed our entire vibe because you can't
make the easiest kick you'll ever have.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
Yeah, and optically for sure, but then again, numerically on Sunday,
it obviously impacted you from having to get a touchdown
late in the game, Yes, whereas I would agree you
could have needed ale for sure. And you know, if
you look at the rest of these games, and Jeff,
you just pointed out the Colts are what a one
point favorite coming up on.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
Sunday and a half.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Don't forget the half one and a half, I mean
they are I was doing some like look aheads at
the rest of the season. I want to say, it's
like a three point spread underdog. The next two weeks
after this they played Jacksonville again in week seventeen. They're
a one and a half point favorite for that one.
The Houston game. Currently to end the season, they're like
a four point underdog. I mean you were talking one, two, three,
(30:47):
four point spreads. I mean this is to far cry
from earlier in the year where you were, you know,
touchdown touchdown plus favorites in several of these games. I
bring up all that to say, kicking matters. Last year
you saw the Jags rookie kicker, you know, Bang went
home from long distance for the win against you, and
Cam Little's got hell of a leg. So you know again,
(31:08):
I know that talking about kickers can make you want
to just stab your eyes out, but it matters, and
the cold situation right now, as scary as it is,
it matters.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
How interesting I said this yesterday, but how interesting would
be if it comes down to a Blake Groupie field
goal one point difference in the streak and.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Like Mark Dyton putting his daughters on his shoulders at
Disney World, Gromer Stewart putting Blake Groupy on his shoulders
and just carrying him back to Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
I'm just saying the pressure that he would feel and
maybe the organization. I feel like we made a change
of kicker, and now this guy could end the streak
or extend it for another year.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
Would you sign up right now for a Blake Groupie
forty six yard game winner to beat Jacksonville by one
on Sunday? If I presented that paper in front of
you and said this could be the end result on
one second on the clock, Rhoades Sanchez Groupie forty six
yards for the win? Would you sign up for?
Speaker 1 (32:06):
The question is would you rather have that or Michael
Badsley at a forty six yard attempt?
Speaker 3 (32:13):
He ain't on the team, so no good no from
James Boyd has made.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
A very problem is if Michael Badsley.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Yip, would you sign up for that? Would you sign.
Speaker 9 (32:21):
Up for that?
Speaker 1 (32:22):
I would, because the problem if Michael Badgley was the
kicker is that it would be a four point deficit
at that point, not a not a one point.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
They badly kicked a game winner in Germany, right, that's true.
Speaker 1 (32:31):
I'm still more worried about Trevor Lawrence. You remember what
he did last year in his one appearance against the Colts.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
Well, he slicing dice In the last three years, twenty
eight of thirty four for three hundred and seventy one yards,
two touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
You'd throw one pick.
Speaker 6 (32:46):
You know, they traded for Jacobe Myers from the Las
Vegas Raiders. He's had two touchdowns, one in each of
the last two weeks. He's been a pretty good player
for him. So I wonder if that is the matchup
that Javerius Ward would draw.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Yeah, so I guess to update everybody on where Jacksonville
was that White out lies, Travis Hunter out for the
year again, Parker Washington their top pass catcher, actually right
now he is injured. He did not practice yesterday. You
know the guy that I think strikes more fear in
a Colts fans based off last year was Brian Thomas junior. Yeah,
and he's regressed a lot, right, but as a rookie,
I mean he torched the Colts.
Speaker 4 (33:20):
He had a great season.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
Remember that infamous play of Dallas Flowers trying to jump
and tackle him on that DP.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
I believe that was his last game for the Colts too.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Yeah, and that deep catch last year in the game
down there. So you know, from a I don't know
a dynamic standpoint, you feel like Thomas Junior would have
a little bit more of that ability. But as you
point out very accurately, he really hasn't done much and
I have him on my big fantasy team and I'm frustrated.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
You know, look into the last two weeks.
Speaker 6 (33:46):
Jacobe Myers had six catches for ninety yards against the
Titans in a touchdown, and then in an overtime win
against the Cardinals he had four catches shifty yards and
a touchdown. So again, he's a guy who can make
some plays and veteran receiver. It some my who's had
a pretty decent career so far, I would.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
Say, were worried about their running game at all. It's
been it's been okay.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Yeah. Yeah, Trap's CTNS had a nice Yeah. And you're
the guy that can skewed is Lawrence. I mean, he
can definitely make some plays with his legs, So yeah,
I think you keep an eye out for that. What
do you think Darren Reees is feeling on this Thursday
morning optimism that the visiting team or the home team
felt so good about I you either they storm the floor.
Speaker 4 (34:28):
I don't know if I.
Speaker 6 (34:28):
Can go optimism because that's a bad loss and they
really kind of unraveled and there in the second half.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
For you, should we have rules on the court storm,
you have to be ranked above IU is ranked what
twenty two?
Speaker 1 (34:40):
You said you like court storm anytime?
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Well, yeah, I mean I know I'm in the minority.
And all the people that talk about this agent thing
is when like you have the inevitable idiot fan that
gets in the face of the opposing place, you gotta
have security on point.
Speaker 6 (34:54):
Yeah, And if you're just rushing, like if you're a
reasonable person, you're rushing the court, you genuinely actually enjoy
the moment with your friends and you know, take some
pictures or laugh or dance whatever.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
That's cool.
Speaker 6 (35:07):
Yeah, But I just don't like it when you see
that one person who probably had no athleticbility in an
entire life run up to the best player on the
opposing team and say you stink or something like that.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
You're just antagonizing them. At that point.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
It seems like a shot at the lack of athleticism
from some people in the student section.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
Yeah, I hate that.
Speaker 6 (35:23):
I'm not gonna lie. I always think about that an athlete. No,
Illinois was garbage when I was in school. That was
my senior year, I believe was Brad Underwood's first season
as head coach. So now that they're actually good again,
in credit tend for rebuilding the program. But yeah, I
was there for like the start of all that.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
You ever storm the court, Kevin, Oh, I'm trying.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
To think out of Crean. My first three years are
Crean six, nine, and twelve with the three wins. Gosh,
you feel like I feel like it might have been
against Illinois. Respect senior year, I wrote for the student
newspaper bats that was the watshy year, and that actually
be three tough teams that year.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
See that.
Speaker 6 (35:58):
See that's the one day I wouldn't want to be writing.
I need to be down there and enjoin the moment.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
How the hell I mean that atmosphere was? I still
remember that play?
Speaker 3 (36:06):
What a moment Darius Miller closing out on Watford. We
got to be coming up on the anniversary of it, right, Yeah?
And is this the first time I U Kentucky have
played since? Is that right?
Speaker 6 (36:16):
Next Saturday I would know that one big game though. Nevertheless,
I do think.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
I guess at the Heightsman, I saw Dick Vital and
Charles Barkley on the call for that.
Speaker 6 (36:25):
I did say, I'm looking forward to it because it
can be great, it can also be a lot. I
don't know what to expect, but I do love if.
I feel like, if you know those two guys going
into it, you should have tailored expectations and just have
fun with it.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
And to get sentimental for a moment here I did see.
I believe that Vital will then do one of the
playing games for the NCAA tournament.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
And he's the perfect guy for that.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
It was when I was reading it they said he's
never called an NCAA tournament game.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
That'll be the first.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
And so this is kind of a you know, a nod,
a nod to obviously ESPN guy, CBS family of networks
being the NCAA tournament turner as well. So I think
that's cool. It's very cool.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
One thing I need to see from any end of though,
is a little more effort on the boards. At forty
to twenty five, they were out rebounded on the road
by Minnesota forty to twenty five.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
I do like the Florida transfer Sam Alexis, but I
do think there is a little bit of a blueprint
of like, hey, if we can try and suffocate Tucker
de Breeze and Lamar Wilkerson as much as we can
around the perimeter, let's just let Indiana try to play
one on one in the post. And yeah, I thought Minnesota,
especially that first half, the second chance points were a
really high number. There, so bad, bad loss. You can't
(37:36):
play the old road Big Ten card, but you know
you get a great opportunity Saturday to help the resume,
great opportunity next Saturday at Kentucky to help the resume.
I think Louisville lost last night, did they not?
Speaker 1 (37:48):
Did not see? I'll go check.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Thought I might have been their first loss to checking
that though.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
I've been seeing a lot of people, even national outlets,
pick up the fact that Don Fisher is going to
get the chance to do the double dip on Saturday.
Get the Louisville Indiana game at the Fieldhouse in the afternoon,
then go over to the Big Ten championship game. I
also happen to see the annual ranking of local broadcast
teams for college football was put out an Awful Announcing
(38:14):
Fish and Buck are number three overall in the whole country.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
How about that? Well, I didn't know that they did
radio team rankings.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
Yeah, every year, Awful Announcing does that. And they have
a bunch of people.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Can they listen to all that?
Speaker 1 (38:28):
It's it's voted on by people all over the country.
But they get grades from their their local listening fans,
and some of those broadcast teams get really low grades
from their fan base.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
But people love Fish and Buck number hell, they should
be number one.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Yeah, they I think in a lot of people's hearts.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Number one of the Aisle State's crew. I won't go
back in the higher marked You'll rip their cords out
Saturday night. Over there, Lucas Oil, he.
Speaker 6 (38:57):
Looks like he's love to know good, got the black
T shirt on. He's ready m that cheapest ticket mark?
Will you double check that for us?
Speaker 2 (39:05):
I believe I saw north of seven hundred seven oh
four for a six hundred level, and it looks like
it's like the only six.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
Hundred level I'm sitting next to. Jesus, I know the
cost getting me the parly gates or what we.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
Do in Seon might as well, go binoculars from the
top of the j W watch through the window.
Speaker 2 (39:22):
Section six twenty five ro twenty eight. So you are
away up there, you're touching, You're touching the Lord right there. Yeah,
seven o eight gets me in the door.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
I asked us in all seriousness, in the day and
age of tickets being transferred from a mobile standpoint, Yeah,
do we still scalp?
Speaker 2 (39:40):
I don't even know how that works.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
I was gonna say, yeah, that's a good question.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
See, I feel like there's no worse WiFi in America
than the Wi Fi two hundred feet outside of stadiums.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
Yeah, that is the guy.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
And like you we walk into like Lucas Oil or something,
you'll see the guys outside of the conventions, Like, I
need tickets. I'm like, how do you have?
Speaker 4 (39:57):
Who's getting it away? Feel like you're a you're a
scammer from now emailing you and then work and.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
Can you transfer those like you transfer like contacts? You
just hold your phones up next to each other like
you do pictures.
Speaker 4 (40:08):
I don't know if I'm swapping contact.
Speaker 1 (40:12):
Talking about tickets though. If you got your tickets on
your phone, can you just transferm over to the phone
next and.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
You probably transfer your credit card number two or something.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
So this just reminds me of what, here's myself security,
here's my will, here's everything else.
Speaker 6 (40:25):
This reminds me of every year when Bob Cravis used
to travel with the athletic with us. We would go
to a Nashville Predators game on that Saturday before they
play the Titans, and there'd be a fly on the
wall of that.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
I remember we.
Speaker 6 (40:39):
Were going one year and Bob got I think it
was me, him and Alexa maybe somebody else tickets because
he knew somebody that from that area. And we get
to the freaking gate to go in and he's like,
I can't find the tickets and I'm like, what are
you talking about? And he says, they sit there in
my wallet. I don't know how to get to my wallet.
And he just takes his phone and holds it out
(41:00):
like it's like a I don't like a pancake. He's like,
he's like, help me find it, like receiving communion, yeah, shirt,
So I had to go the tickets had because if
we stood in this long line, E didn't download the
tickets or something like that. And as you mentioned, Kevin
Wi Fi Shadi boy. He had me on edge for
a little bit more. I love me some Bob Kravitz.
He knows technology like I know met Gala fashion. I
(41:22):
will say this though, the man can mangle. So we
got a nice little sweet and I got to eat
for free, and I watched my first hockey game in person.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
My favorite thing was Kevin mentioned his will is on
his phone was a QR coach.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
What me moll left?
Speaker 9 (41:35):
Man?
Speaker 3 (41:35):
It should be in here somewhere scan that.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
Vase.
Speaker 2 (41:39):
I always wanted to.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
Give me a second. I think my face idea isn't
isn't isn't really clicking for me right now? James is correct.
Speaker 1 (41:45):
Ohio State was the number one rank. Local broadcast about that.
Speaker 4 (41:49):
Oh I didn't even that was a Kevin guest, but Kevin.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
Yeah, I was. It was Ohio State number one.
Speaker 3 (41:53):
Call the way. He definitely got to rip out their
cords coming up on Saturday, Mark get on it.
Speaker 1 (41:57):
Uh. They said some nice things about fishing book. We'll
get to some of that, but also Patcher struggled at
home last night against the Denver Nuggets. More on the
Cults coming up against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Thad Model from
Butler Basketball on the Way at eight thirty That's to do.
Stick with us here at ninety three five and one
oh seven five the Fan. There you go, Mark Dyketon,
was that on your playlist for twenty twenty five?
Speaker 9 (42:17):
It was?
Speaker 2 (42:17):
I was just talking about Spotify rapped on a twenty
twenty five Spotify wrapped Kevin and I unsurprisingly had a
lot of children's music on ours. What'd you say, Kunamatada?
You were in the wayback machine on yours?
Speaker 3 (42:29):
Yeah, I had a little Kunamatata Action, some K pop
demon Hunters here, t Swift Action did have some Shaboozy
on there.
Speaker 4 (42:40):
Yeah, what was your top song of the year.
Speaker 3 (42:42):
I'd try to get it. I think it was good
News from Shaboozy. Mine was Mancho from some point here, Mark,
not like I mean it's sports good news?
Speaker 2 (42:50):
I mean sure, I love that song song. Yeah, Lincoln
Park was on mine for sure. You could see where
like dad music kind of took over a little bit.
But then the K pop demon Hunters, the Taylor Swift,
Sabrian Carpenter was all there.
Speaker 3 (43:01):
I wait, a few people tag us yesterday and having
the Fan morning show. I was looking there, got a
podcast so Mark Dacton, thank you for executing those on
a daily basis, and thank you to all of our
listeners and 'ret there.
Speaker 2 (43:14):
The new thing they added this year was your age
range for music. And I was forty two years old.
I'm like, okay, that's at least in the wheelhouse. I
saw some people that were in their thirties and they
were like, you are a sixty two year old person
watching listen to music?
Speaker 3 (43:25):
Like what the heck?
Speaker 1 (43:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (43:26):
I was fifty Is that too much pink Houses from
Mellencamp or something?
Speaker 2 (43:30):
Maybe?
Speaker 1 (43:31):
Probably mine was fifty nine, and it said you listened
to mostly stuff from the early eighties.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
Okay, well, Jmv's got to be in that same age range.
If you has Spotify then too, that's gotta be all him.
Speaker 1 (43:41):
Kevin I you listened to a lot of podcasts. I
listened to four four hundred and thirty nine minutes of
podcasts this year.
Speaker 3 (43:49):
Do it seems like a big number. I'd have to
go back and scroll through, But.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
Yeah, what was your top podcast?
Speaker 3 (43:53):
Remember sure that I'm very high on there. The morning
I was gonna say, probably reached the ride with JMV
or in company or the fan or Colt's Corner with
Kevin James Boyd and Jimi Elo. I don't know something
on there.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
We have four thousand minutes of Cult's Corner total.
Speaker 3 (44:11):
We got usually two a week, so I don't know
how that adds up here. And uh, early December.
Speaker 2 (44:16):
The other weird thing was the top genres thing. Did
you see any of that? Because it was weird. It
was like bubblegum pop and that was lullaby and my
brother had one that said egg punk gg punk. I'm like,
the hell does that mean? Was lullaby kid stuff?
Speaker 4 (44:30):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
I have no clue.
Speaker 4 (44:33):
Didn't say. It's not like I had like rock taste
in music. I don't know what there was, Like I said,
egg punk lullabye.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
I'm like, huh, I don't I don't understand how they
deciphered what those genres are.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
My top two were classic rock and new wave.
Speaker 3 (44:46):
So yeah, eighties, Okay, we going more good news for
Morgan news for Indiana with a Brian Hartline taking the
job of South Florida Ohio state's offensive coordinator. You guys,
you guys leaving that mattering on Saturday.
Speaker 6 (45:01):
I thought he should have petitioned like Lane Kiffin to
stay with the team.
Speaker 1 (45:05):
How about Lane Kiffin's players coming out and saying all
the defensive players especially like, yeah, that's not what happened
in that meeting we didn't have.
Speaker 3 (45:12):
We didn't want him to stick around. I love it.
I think I want to miss the one at all.
Speaker 1 (45:16):
That would be fun if it's not Indiana.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Lane from the top of the podium in the national
title game.
Speaker 1 (45:23):
We brought it up in there.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
You want Indiana more than you want Notre Dame. Why
why do you have in state here? I just like
Indiana betteran Notre Dame. Wow, there goes our Notre Dame
listening audience. Why don't you want to tie in the
national title game between the two?
Speaker 1 (45:41):
I don't think that doesn't happen. It's got to be
a winner, it gotta be a loser.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
You imagine if we get into the two point conversion
offs for the national title.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
For Indiana, chaos. I mean, I want video of you
watching the game, is what I want. If that happened, the.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
College football will playoff here. I do think we're going
to get to a point in time where this weekend
will be the first round of the playoffs, and I
think it could happen soon.
Speaker 1 (46:06):
As soon as we expand it to sixteen, right.
Speaker 3 (46:08):
So you get to sixteen, so that be no buys, Yeah,
it'd have to. So you just sixteen, it out simply
like a sweet sixteen, and you got to win four
from there.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
Because then you have like James Madison playing against Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (46:19):
I think I would like that because obviously someday's a
huge NFL game here in our market. But if you could,
I think start the playoff a little bit earlier. I
think you stay out of the crazy NFL youah know,
really stranglehold that they have on it as you get
right around January, because you know, when you get to
(46:42):
the semi final round, that's what wildcard weekend probably right
around there, I mean wildcard weekend. I feel like people
talk about it like it's our favorite weekend of the year,
or the divisional round. I think it'd be nice if
you could get you know, maybe first round. I don't know,
maybe you take one week off after the end of
the regular season, then go first round. Then you know,
second round would be kind of mid December ish, and
(47:03):
you know, maybe you're designing a national champion by whatever.
January fifth, January tenth. I mean, now we got to
go all the way to like January twentieth, seems so late.
Speaker 1 (47:12):
It wasn't that long ago when they had the fourteen
playoff and they had the semi finals. I remember the year.
It was specific to it, but it would be a
Saturday in general, but I think this specific Saturday was
thinking about it was New Year's Eve and it was
just Electra those two finals, right, But I'm just saying
I remember that before. It felt like a championship day. Yeah,
(47:33):
I kind of like the same DAYFC in the NFC Championship.
Speaker 3 (47:36):
I kind of like to get back to that where
maybe that is the semi final night because just to
remind everybody, the nineteenth and the twentieth, that's a Friday
and a Saturday. That is our opening round. Now, you know,
it looks like Indiana. I assume we'll bypass that. They'll
immediately go to the New Year's Eve games, which again
those are neutral site games, and those will be either
I believe it's the thirty first or the first. I
(47:58):
think they'd divide up, you know, games both those days.
Remember last year we had the just tragic shooting in
New Orleans. They had a pushnutre Dame Georgia.
Speaker 1 (48:07):
Yeah, it was. It just didn't you feel there?
Speaker 3 (48:11):
Yeah, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day. That will That's
where Indiana there's no way they fall out of the bye.
Speaker 1 (48:16):
Right, I can't imagine either team falls out of the
bye Yeah.
Speaker 3 (48:22):
Because Oregon is sitting right there, and it's like Indiana
already won at Oregon says.
Speaker 1 (48:26):
Either way if you're if you're number one and you
lose to number two. If Ohio State loses Indiana, it's
one losing to two or two losing to one. If
it's especially if it's a close game between the two,
it kind of just confirms what you're thinking, right, these
are the two best teams in country.
Speaker 6 (48:39):
Of course, I think it becomes the possibility if you
get smoked. Really, I do.
Speaker 3 (48:44):
Think that far if you get run But is it Oregon.
I mean, I gotta look look at the rankings. I
thought Oregon is like five or six. You can't you
can't drop Indiana behind Oregon.
Speaker 6 (48:55):
Indiana, which I don't think is possible. But like if
you get blitzed, you lose, but like thirty plus or
something like that. I do think they would actually have
that conversation yes, I think that they would do. Why
am not saying it's right, But I don't put anything
past the committee just because what have they done it
ever makes sense.
Speaker 4 (49:11):
That's my only argument there.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
That's that actually is a smart argument. But I don't
see any of a dropping behind Oregon, No way.
Speaker 1 (49:17):
I did see Notre Dame drop a spot in the
rankings after un after you know, boat racing somebody. That's
how that committee works.
Speaker 3 (49:23):
Kevin, Well, you already heard me ran and Ray of
about it yesterday and had me tweeting at the Dean
Rappaport because I was so fired up.
Speaker 1 (49:30):
Did he tweet back? No, he didn't, No, just checking.
And he had a Pacers last night at home, starting
off well, pretty pretty decent first quarter. In the second quarter,
just everything cratered and then we had Murray going off
for fifty two points James ten of eleven from three
point range for the Nuggets last night.
Speaker 6 (49:50):
Yeah, he was pretty special last night, and he was
particularly special in that fourth quarter. Scored eighteen points, only
miss one shot in the fourth quarter. Just an unbelievab
performance from him. And I felt like, again, as you
pointed out, Jeff, that second quarter got out scored thirty
nine to twenty, there's your game, because if you look
(50:11):
at the other quarters in the game, you're right there.
So we talked about it with Rick Carlisle, some Kevin,
but the defensive slippage we've seen in the last couple
of games not conducive to winning.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
Yeah, and yes, I would agree with that. I would
say watching the second quarter last night, I actually thought
it was they scored twenty in the second quarter. Yes,
that is obviously an egregious number. I thought it was
some just ugly, ugly offense that led to Denver. You're
(50:44):
getting some really easy baskets on the other and I
thought that contributed to the point. So yes, you know,
I don't want to ignore the defense by any means.
But you know, I made this analogy a few weeks ago.
It's probably a poor one, but at times last year
you watched the Pacers offense and it's like watching, you know,
a beautiful restart at the Indy five hundred, just speed
(51:04):
and precision and execution. And now I watch the Pacers
offense and I feel like I'm watching Jeff's son go
around the Carmel roundabouts right now, just slow and he's
not key you're not jerkey, and yeah, it just it's
a total one eighty.
Speaker 4 (51:23):
So your son needs his haliber, he needs your boy, JB.
Speaker 3 (51:27):
I'll get him right, He'll teach mcconnie back last night. Fine,
he was.
Speaker 4 (51:32):
Back being TJ McConney.
Speaker 1 (51:35):
Last year.
Speaker 6 (51:35):
I thought he actually played really well off the bench,
which a typical T McConnell, but just not enough to
sustain themselves in a second quarter. And it bled over
to the overall come of the game.
Speaker 1 (51:44):
Yeah it did. The Pacers playback presented by CNJ Water,
the official water treatment partner of the Indiana Pacers cnjwater
dot Com. So they try to put that one behind
him again. Now it's the Nuggets after all, and Yoki
and Murray has an historic night. Whatever. Now they move
on to play the Chicago Bulls coming up tomorrow night
in Chicago. You know this is this is a game
they have a chance to win.
Speaker 4 (52:05):
Here, James, I like this one running that back again.
Speaker 1 (52:09):
I like the fact that they're playing in Chicago, Ron,
I think they got a shot to win this game.
Speaker 6 (52:12):
Yeah, Chicago hasn't played all that great. Actually wrote a
story recently, were kind of throwing out the theory I
think it was ESPN the theory of can the Bulls
kind of build their offense in their team so that
the Pacers have because Josh Getty's playing well for them,
and moments and comments like that, Altho, Josh Get's almost
averaging a triple double this year and taking nothing away
from that?
Speaker 3 (52:32):
Man, gosh, is he really?
Speaker 4 (52:33):
Yeah them? N Yes, he's.
Speaker 6 (52:35):
Averaging like twenty eleven and nine I think or something
that's that yes, So that's why people are saying, can
he be like the next lead guard?
Speaker 4 (52:44):
Take a jump? So to speak? So I'm look at
his numbers right now.
Speaker 6 (52:46):
Yeah, he's averaging twenty one points, ten rebounds, and nine
point two assists, and he's actually shooting pretty well from
the floor as well, forty eight percent from the floor,
thirty nine percent from three.
Speaker 1 (52:56):
He's playing well, I know he's playing that well.
Speaker 6 (52:58):
So yeah, there is can he be? Can he make
a leap? Sort of like we saw from Halliburton. But again,
when those comments get made, it almost makes me miss
watching Halliburton because I think you can you can kind
of forget how good of a player he is when
he's not out there every night, similar to how we
see with Caitlyn Clark. I've seen a lot of comments about,
you know, hey her she had the soupomore slump. When
(53:20):
she's healthy, did you forget how she looked? So, you know,
it'd be good when some of the Indiana stars can
remind these people.
Speaker 1 (53:27):
Was she healthy at any point in time, like a
fully one hundred percent healthy at any point in time
this past summer? I would say so, yeah, early beginning
first ten. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (53:36):
I mean she had a trouble double in her first
game of the year. So I can't sit up here
and say you were never healthy.
Speaker 5 (53:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (53:40):
I just felt like she was battling through stuff almost
all season long, obviously. But anyway, the Pacers get back
to work again tomorrow night at Chicago eight pm time
start seven thirty year time here in ninety three five
one or seven five the fan again the Pacers Playback
presented by cn J Water, the official water treatment partner
of the Indiana Pacers cnjywater dot com. Before we get
into the checkdown, Kevin, I was gonna do this independently,
(54:02):
just for you because I know you're up to date
on this. Did I see video of Tiger Woods clearly
or right? He's been clear not video clear to chip
and putt, but returned to golf as a ways away.
Did you see that yesterday?
Speaker 3 (54:14):
Yeah, it didn't sound very optimistic.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
Clear to chip and putt. That's a long ways away
from a full swing.
Speaker 3 (54:21):
Yeah, makes me say, what was the latest surgery? I
assume something back related. I feel like he's got surgeries
about as routine as the sun rises from the east.
Speaker 1 (54:32):
Because I would take Tiger Woods at some point, like
I used to enjoy when I was really into golf
watching even in their elder years, guys like Nicholas and
Player and until we lost in Arnold Palmer playing in
front of everybody on the first day of the Masters
or something like that. I always kind of enjoyed that.
And I'm starting to wonder are we going to get
that with Tiger time. That sounds horrific, But just to
(54:56):
see him playing is my point.
Speaker 3 (54:57):
I mean, he's fifty, he's not eighty.
Speaker 1 (55:01):
Fifth to how old is that body though? After all
those surgeries?
Speaker 3 (55:03):
James, anything on the Colts injury report you're curious about
today again? Walk through yesterday first practice coming up today.
There were a couple of names that we did not
see get hurt in the game that popped up there,
Josh Downs and Kenny Moore in particular. Daniel Jones was
a full participant in the walkthrough. For those that hay
last week, he was limited on a Wednesday. For those
(55:25):
that are glued in the injury report.
Speaker 6 (55:27):
Yeah, so here's the rundown. Jalen Carlys, the linebacker, second
year player, he was full due to an ankle injury.
Speaker 4 (55:35):
So he was a full participant.
Speaker 6 (55:36):
I say that because it's significant for him to practice
and get elevated this week. If he does not come
off ir this week, he must stay on there for
the rest of the season and will not play. And then,
as you mentioned, Josh Downs was and these are estimated
reports because they had a walk through stead of a
traditional practice yesterday. But the estimated injury report Josh Downs DMP,
hip and knee. Sauce Gardner obviously out with the cav
(55:58):
Daniel Jones was full with the fibula. Taekwon Lewis that
was a surprise one an ankle injury.
Speaker 4 (56:03):
He was a d MP.
Speaker 6 (56:05):
And then Kenny Moore had illness slash ankle listed as
a DMP. So we'll see what that looks like today
when we get back out there to a regular practice.
Speaker 4 (56:12):
So again, as you.
Speaker 6 (56:13):
Always said, Kevin, don't want to get too worried, too
caught up into it. After the Wednesday injury report, I
would say Thursday, you know, that concern rises a little bit.
But most of these guys I would expect to, you know,
hopefully bounce back litter this week.
Speaker 3 (56:26):
And I think he goes out saying how important Kenny Moore.
The second is, I would add, with lost Gardner status,
it's even more important.
Speaker 4 (56:33):
You've been pushing for him to play even more.
Speaker 3 (56:34):
Yeah, Yeah, And you know Taverius Ford. I think he's
an interesting one to watch on Sunday, just kind of
where is he at? You know, we played some of
that audio earlier in the week, very real candid about
you know a lot of things frankly, I think off
the field that are clouding his play on the field.
So what does that look like for him? And what
is a monumental game Colts and Jaggs coming up on Sunday.
(56:56):
Liam Cohen acknowledged in there in this press conference estimate yesterday,
he goes, boy, crowd's a little bit bigger in here
than it is normally, So I think even in lowly Jacksonville.
You're getting a little bit more eyeballs on this game. Duvall.
Duv All, you got to give him credit. Man, that
(57:17):
was a great press conference line, and they've backed it up.
Speaker 6 (57:20):
Yeah, it's always funny when people say, oh, they won
this press conference. I remember saying that when I was
a young, inexperienced reporter back in college. All this guy
was so great at the mic.
Speaker 4 (57:29):
Who cares? Can you win games? And he's certainly doing.
Speaker 3 (57:31):
It, Nick Sirianni, you know, and that opening he was horrible.
Speaker 6 (57:34):
Right now he's wondering Super Bowls and won a Super
Ball and one of the best coaches in the modern
era right now. So yeah, it's funny to see who
gets the grace and who does it. But it all
comes down so what happens on Sundays.
Speaker 1 (57:45):
Yeah, and it's again for those not keeping close track,
Colts are the sixth seeded team right now in the AFC.
Not too long ago they were number one, and they
are in a there's a lot of traffic there right
now too. The Chargers are rating for just ahead of
the Colts, believe it or not, even though there's had
the head there. Both are eight and four. The Bills
are eight and four, Houston seven and five, Pittsburgh six
(58:08):
and six, Kansas City six and six. That's kind of
the group that they're fighting for for a final few
playoff first. But they win this game, that changes things.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
Quite a bit. Well, if you win, you're the three seed.
Speaker 1 (58:19):
Yeah, well you're right back in control of the division
though too.
Speaker 3 (58:21):
That's what I was so again, it is a very
crowded AFC South, and you're a Chiefs fan Sunday night
by the way, Chiefs textan Sunday Night football.
Speaker 1 (58:28):
All right, set's check it down, Mark Dyton.
Speaker 7 (58:32):
The morning checkdown on ninety sweet five and one oh
seven five fan.
Speaker 1 (58:36):
It's all lead enough to that game on Sunday afternoon
in Jacksonville Duval?
Speaker 3 (58:41):
Is that what you were saying, Kevin, Mark Dyton, Oh,
I think you.
Speaker 1 (58:45):
I think it better when you say gosh, I like
it better when you say it.
Speaker 3 (58:50):
Mark over there looking at random pictures. I wish Colts
are trying to get the last weekday.
Speaker 2 (58:59):
I God, there's not like an Instagram like Spotify rap version,
because oh boy, dude.
Speaker 4 (59:06):
That would end a lot of relationships. I think you, Oh,
look at your most.
Speaker 3 (59:09):
Likely let me sign out of my account Real Quick
Culture Jag Sunday one o'clock.
Speaker 1 (59:14):
You'll listen to it live right here at ninety three
five one o seven five The fan kick It one
and our airtime with all the pregame festivities starts at
ten a m. We just went through the injury list
for the Colts, but uh, for the most part, nothing
seems to have changed much from what we thought on
on Monday.
Speaker 4 (59:33):
Nah, not really.
Speaker 6 (59:34):
Again, I don't get too much fear when it comes
to the injury report until we get to today and
tomorrow and seeing who's in or out. But hey, maybe
some maintenance got off their feet yesterday. Maybe that'll help
some of these guys feel a little bit better going
into what is now the biggest game of the year.
I think I'm gonna keep saying that every single week
for this team, all right.
Speaker 1 (59:52):
Also one NFL game tonight, Thursday Night Football, the seven
to five Detroit Lions against the six five and one
Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (59:59):
What did you you say?
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
The over under for this game was fifty four.
Speaker 3 (01:00:02):
I believe fifty four and a half. So we've got
a couple of big ones. Bill's Bengals. Also, Mark, this
is a great slate this week. Yeah, that's a good one,
really really good slate. It's balanced out nicely too in
the various windows. So very very good Week fourteen slate
of games, which you know, again obviously we've got appointment
television for college football Saturday, but pretty good with a
(01:00:24):
little lighter of course on the college foot, Remind everybody,
Iowa State will lead into IU Louisville, so you'll go
CBS there. I assume Tyres Halliburn will make an appearance
there in Mackie to watch his Cyclones, a very good
Iowa State team here this season. And then of course
you got Indiana and Louisville. Louisville did lose last night
to cal Perry in Arkansas.
Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
And Indiana also lost to Minnesota up at the Bar
in seventy three sixty four. The final score were there.
They were out rebounded forty to twenty five, and really
that was kind of the difference of the basketball game.
Speaker 3 (01:00:53):
Yeah, it's an awful loss. You know, I know we
can and I get it. Conference playing the road can
be difficult, but Minnesota is is booty. They ain't good.
I think I mentioned it earlier in the show. Currently
right now in the net rankings. Minnesota is around these
five schools Iona, Portland State, Saint Thomas, Colgate, and U. T. Martin.
(01:01:18):
You guys use Colgate or you more crest.
Speaker 4 (01:01:21):
I think I'm a Colgate?
Speaker 1 (01:01:22):
Was a Galgate on the morning. Yeah, that's what's there
this morning. You're saying that it's a booty born up
there in Minnesota like that.
Speaker 3 (01:01:29):
That sounds like a hell of a place to knock
on the back door of. But excuse me, yeah, something
along those lines. That'll be a bad loss in the resume.
Can you make sure the warts are, you know, just
on the butt for nobody to see. Yeah, what Kevin said,
was that me describing the kicker?
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
I think so?
Speaker 3 (01:01:45):
Yeah, Like that's what it was.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
You said the word butt. I just clipped it immediately.
I don't know the context.
Speaker 4 (01:01:51):
Yeah I do.
Speaker 3 (01:01:52):
Maybe on the other side we get into Blake Groupi's
warts and where are they on his body?
Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
In the meantime, I'll tell you that the Indiana Pacers
lost at home last night one thirty five, one twenty
to the Denver Naugats. Jamal Murray had fifty two points.
Second time this year, James, He's gone for over fifty points.
Speaker 6 (01:02:09):
Yeah, and the third different player for the Nuggets scored
fifty points this year. He joins the Cool Yell Kitchen.
Aaron Gordon had a fifty ball back, I want to say.
Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
Towards the beginning of the season.
Speaker 6 (01:02:19):
So yeah, good team and a bad second quarter for
the Pacers.
Speaker 9 (01:02:24):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
They did hold Jokic to less than a triple double,
though only had eight rebounds last night to go with
his twenty four points and thirteen assists.
Speaker 4 (01:02:33):
They got that going gold star for them.
Speaker 3 (01:02:35):
Yeah, there you go again.
Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
They would play tomorrow night in Chicago against the Bulls
that went dips up at eight. You can listen to
it live ninety three, five one or seventy five to
the fan right here beginning at seven point thirty. We
could also let you know that Janni Santanta Kupo sidelined
day to day at this point in time when a
strained calf went down grasping on the fuck can you
imagine in Milwaukee everybody watching Yachtis go down on the
(01:02:59):
floor and grabbing back to the lower part of his calf.
Speaker 4 (01:03:03):
Yeah, it was scary watching that.
Speaker 6 (01:03:05):
And honestly, whenever I see these types of injuries, especially
the superstars, it reminds me of how delicate your championship
opportunities are. For example, the Bucks wanted back in what
twenty twenty one, They haven't I don't even know if
they want a playoff series since then, and they had
one of the best players of all time. So when
(01:03:26):
you get there, obviously want to try to capitalize on it.
The Pacers got there, didn't win it all, and we're
hoping they can get back there in the future.
Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
But it's tough, man. You just never know what the
future holds.
Speaker 6 (01:03:35):
So Hopefullyianness isn't having achilles injury and he can just
get better. But man, he tends to get hurt, I
would say, on like an annual basis when it comes
to his lower extremities.
Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
And that was hours after Sean's reported that they were
having discussions with the Bucks and Yanni.
Speaker 6 (01:03:50):
That's weird, like we soft launching a new team you
want to go to. It's like, hey, baby, I'm thinking
about you know, looking elsewhere, but just stay right here,
you know, Just guess I want to come back.
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
Don't go anymore, do some fishing.
Speaker 4 (01:04:02):
Yeah all right.
Speaker 1 (01:04:05):
We'll also let you know if you missed it earlier
in the last hour Miles McLoughlin, who people were watching
to see if he could become the all time rushing
leader for anyone ever in the history of high school football.
Came up just short of that, but also set a
bunch of Indiana records and was fun to watch. He
has committed to Murray State. There'll be a Racer next year.
Fun to see him go play college football.
Speaker 3 (01:04:27):
So we like that. Yeah, that's kind of hoping he'd
stay in state. But yeah, shout out to Miles McLoughlin
and congrats you signing day. I know it was a
really really special day for so many high school athletes
out there. So cool to see that yesterday. A couple
other football notes in state. Jet Goldsberry, I think some
pur new fans will remember that name flipped to the Boilers.
Was an old miscommit quarterback, safety, a dual sport player
(01:04:51):
due both sides of the ball. There, So a nice
little flip there from Barry Odom Jeremy Finch junior. That
makes me feel old.
Speaker 5 (01:05:00):
Gosh.
Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
His dad was incredible at Warren Central. He switched to Tennessee.
He did a little hat thing with Purdue in Alabama.
He switched there to Tennessee, and I saw Indiana signed
a class top thirty ish and Notre Dame signed a
pretty consensus top five class zero D commits from the
Notre Dame class. How rare is that in today's world.
Speaker 1 (01:05:21):
Marcus Freeman getting it done up there?
Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
Relationship building for Marcus Reeman. Now he needs to create
relationships with that SEC committee chair.
Speaker 6 (01:05:28):
I must say, Marcus Hereman has a great hair dye.
I was look at his hair and I'm like, boy,
if I do a bucket of water on that thing,
would that stays dark? Handsome fellow though.
Speaker 1 (01:05:39):
Right coming up in a moment, we'll talk too's.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
On the Today Show yesterday, Matty Bowen had a compliment
of his performance.
Speaker 4 (01:05:46):
We've seen how Dark's hairline is all. I'm serious about that.
Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
On the Today Show. Yeah, I think he's a good
looking dude and I'd like to thank him for what
he's done for Notre Dame football.
Speaker 1 (01:05:57):
I didn't even know where to go with this.
Speaker 3 (01:05:58):
Now we had him on the show, Mark didn't we
a couple of years back? I believe so yah is
that when he was doing the rev up thing at
the Pace for you.
Speaker 4 (01:06:04):
No disrespect, Marcus, I'm just jealous. You're a very handsome guy.
Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
He was at wrestling too, which warmed my heart.
Speaker 3 (01:06:09):
So Ma beca his son.
Speaker 1 (01:06:11):
Everybody loves Marcus.
Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
Fun was a part of the signing day. I believe
to Cornell. I want to say the Sun committed to
Cornell for wrestling.
Speaker 1 (01:06:17):
So shout out to the Big Red all right. Then
coming up next Thad Mana. He's that basketball coach for
the Butler Bulldogs. He'll stop by and tell us how
things are going and so far, so good over there
at the Hinklefield House. It's coming up next. Ninety three five,
one oh seven five Fan, you.
Speaker 7 (01:06:43):
Were listening to about fan morning show on sports Radio
ninety three to five and one oh seven five the fan.
Speaker 3 (01:06:52):
Good morning.
Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
It can only mean one thing as we get ready
to talk some basketball. It's getting in the middle of
December here against games under our belt, and things are
going well over at Hinklefield House. For our next guest,
that model, the head basketball coach for the Butler Bulldogs
who joined us on the Paidlesslickers Hotline this morning. Coach,
I would think, so far, so good, you're pretty pleased
with the development of this team. Good morning, and and
(01:07:15):
how are how are things going over there?
Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
For you, you know, pretty good, pretty good.
Speaker 10 (01:07:20):
We're uh, you know, like you said, I'm pleased with
the development we're making. I still think we've we've got
a long long way to go and and but I
think every team's like that, every coach is like that,
and and you know, we've got to act the stretch
coming up here starting Saturday. The boys stayed a really
really good team, and you are, Our thing is, as
(01:07:40):
we tell our guys, a we just want to be
better today than we were yesterday. And and you know,
so far of this group is a tremendous work ethic.
And you know, we had a little bit of a
quick prep for Saturday's game. They haven't played for probably
a week and a half since Maui, And you know,
we just got to keep keep uh coaching, teaching, and
doing the best we can to get her.
Speaker 5 (01:08:00):
Guys.
Speaker 10 (01:08:01):
The best thing can be to play together. And I think,
you know, we're starting to cut down on more of
our mental mistakes. I'm never going to be completely satisfied
with that, but I don't know, We're competing, and that's
a good thing.
Speaker 6 (01:08:16):
Sad when you look at Finley Bizjack and I was
actually watching some of his highlights the other day. How
long did it take you to be okay? With that
jump skip pass he does. It's kind of like a
wrap around that head. It's hard to describe, but it
looks fancy and you know it's pretty effective, But is
there a part of you it's like, hold on, relax,
just be basic.
Speaker 10 (01:08:37):
Well, if you remember, we finally got Fin to stop
jumping on the bait or jumping out of bounds and
throwing it to the other team his first year and
a half here, and so as long as he's completing
that pass that you're talking about, I'm perfectly fine with it.
But I'll say this, he's a little bit of a
risk taker and I like that. I like guys that
(01:08:59):
I don't want to hold team full of him, that's
for sure, but I think that, you know, a lot
of the things he does is calculated. But you know,
against Eastern Michigan, and we talked about it with him,
he had two turners where he left his feet and
turned it over. And Ben wants to be a perfections.
He wants to play perfect every time. And you know,
he's a very very coachable kid. But I like the
(01:09:22):
way that he's attacking right now. On offense and defense.
He's playing great defense.
Speaker 6 (01:09:25):
Absolutely, Yeah, He's definitely someone I just feel like you
want to probably coach that down a little bit and
try to coach it up as far as the aggressiveness
and the creativity, and then looking at his overall numbers,
what do you think has led to him being not
only a better scorer this year probably more opportunity granted,
but also the efficiency because he's not, you know, averaging
(01:09:47):
nineteen on twenty two shots.
Speaker 4 (01:09:49):
I mean, he's been a very efficient player this year.
Speaker 5 (01:09:52):
Well, you know, he can really really shoot the ball.
Speaker 10 (01:09:54):
And he's so different in terms of how hard he
works on his game. And I think last week things
were starting to slow down for him a little bit,
just in terms of reading defenses and reading situations and
and that that's the development you hope all your players
eventually make. And but no, he is. He's playing very
(01:10:15):
efficiently right now, and you knows percentages are high and
we we need that with him right now.
Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
I started the year for the Butler bulldogstad Mota with
this year on the Payless Slickers hotline. As he said,
Boise State coming up on Saturday, Red Panda in the
building at Hinklefield House Saturday afternoon.
Speaker 5 (01:10:33):
You guys, tell you guys a great story.
Speaker 10 (01:10:34):
Yes, when when I was retired, like I was going
to Butler games, I never knew that they did halftime shows.
I never knew that they did stuff at timeouts, like
putting a golf ball or you know, running around a
baseball bat and trying to make a layup.
Speaker 5 (01:10:51):
And I didn't know that.
Speaker 10 (01:10:52):
I was always busy. And so this lady comes out
on a unicycle or whatever it's called, and I'm like,
what is going on? And my wife says, watching, she's
going to throw these bulls up and she never drops.
I've seen this for years, and it was the first
time ever. I guess she had dropped them and she
(01:11:12):
dropped to them or something. And my friends and I
still laugh about it because I'd never seen it before.
That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen, that
lady doing that.
Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
She's a top five athlete of our generation. Coach, Oh,
without a doubt, without a doubt.
Speaker 10 (01:11:25):
I mean, you think about the coordination, you have to have,
the concentration. I mean, that's that's big time.
Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
And the bright lights of Hinkle get to everybody here
and you're hoping it gets to the road team coming
on on Satday. I want to go back to Tuesday night. Mark,
our great producer, played a little western music for you
on the lead in that got a little got a
little Western chippiness on Tuesday night? Did it not?
Speaker 5 (01:11:47):
It really did? It really did.
Speaker 10 (01:11:48):
In fact, my daughter and I were talking after a game,
we're going to get a player rejected every game to
get the crowd going.
Speaker 5 (01:11:56):
Our crowd got into.
Speaker 10 (01:11:57):
That game after that thing happened, and that was a
kind of electrified Hinkle, which hopefully he will continue. And uh,
but that was that was a rough physical uh you know,
loose balls scrapping and Eastern Michigan was playing really hard
as well.
Speaker 4 (01:12:11):
Any update on the ankle injury Jalen Jackson.
Speaker 10 (01:12:15):
No, we're still uh waiting and he's out, he's still
in the boot and and uh we just we we
don't know yet. You know, hopefully we're going to know
something here, but he has he has not practiced, so
you know, we definitely definitely miss him, There's no question
about that.
Speaker 1 (01:12:33):
I like that, get back to that that chippiness. The
other night, there was a quote in the Indie Star
from Finley Bisjack who said we had a media timeout
and I told everyone, this is a bar fight.
Speaker 3 (01:12:42):
Do you remember that moment.
Speaker 10 (01:12:45):
I don't think I was in there yet.
Speaker 5 (01:12:46):
Uh, but I like that.
Speaker 10 (01:12:49):
I like that, and uh it's uh kind of what
it turned into. Just with the physicality, there's no question
about it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
So what do we need to get done here as
a team between now and really the full on start
of conference playing a couple of weeks, Like what what
do you want to get accomplished here?
Speaker 5 (01:13:06):
Well?
Speaker 10 (01:13:06):
I want to continue to develop our offense and and
just continue to get our flow better. And I think
we have to get the ball moving quicker, and we
got to cut harder.
Speaker 5 (01:13:17):
I think, uh, you.
Speaker 10 (01:13:18):
Know, defensively, continuing to know the coverages that we're in
and which are ever changing it depends on who we
have in the game, who they have in the game,
and just just alleviating, you know, some of the mental
mistakes and which is you know, it's playing games, it's
it's teaching, coaching and film their long, long film session yesterday,
(01:13:39):
and you know, just just trying to continue to play
better basketball, sound or basketball and doing all the fundamental things.
And you know, I tell you, guys, are day and
we can't take a step forward take two steps backwards.
We got to we got to keep moving forward. And
then these guys have been good with that.
Speaker 6 (01:13:57):
One more from me, Stink Robinson. I remember watch him
at Lawrence North throughout the years, a very talented player.
How have you seen him just develop and grow more
and more when it comes to the college game.
Speaker 10 (01:14:10):
You know, it's it's amazing because you're we're jaling out
this summer and we've talked about the staff. He's gotten
a lot of reps and now you know, he's moved
into the starting lineup and he's probably playing more than
most freshmen have the opportunity to. And Xavier's a guy
that he wants to please, he wants to do things,
and I just see his development. He just continues to grow.
(01:14:33):
And you know one of the things that we got
to him do is is he leads us in files
right now and he's picking up a couple of files
a game that he probably doesn't need to. But I
think you're just going to continue to see him get
better and better and better.
Speaker 1 (01:14:46):
Coach is always thanks for joining us during the course
of the week. We look forward to saying how you
do this weekend against Boise. Stateton will do it again
next week. Have fun.
Speaker 5 (01:14:53):
All right, sounds good, guys.
Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
Thanks, There you go, there's Dad Mada. He's got to
be happy with where this team. Team has come this
early part of the season. I think they've played pretty well.
Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
Yeah, great start, great start for Butler, and again if
they can beat Boise on Saturday. Boys, he's kind of
been a fringency tournament team in recent years. And then
Northwestern they've got coming up two Saturdays. That's that Indie
Classic produing Auburn and then Butler Northwestern. I mean, that's
a really strong non conference resume for Butler, which would
(01:15:23):
be great for them. I loved his description of red Panda.
You imagine just the first time, all of a sudden,
you're now sitting in seats at a sporting event. You
didn't even know the red pand existed. Next thing I know,
he's on a unicycle flipping bowls and the bright lights
gots her. Maybe she should do the tape measure, Maybe
she should do Hoosiers tonight walking in there or Saturday
walking in there.
Speaker 1 (01:15:43):
Just glad she's back.
Speaker 3 (01:15:45):
He's back. Yeah, that's the big thing. He looks healthy.
Speaker 1 (01:15:47):
Wait, till a coach sees quick change. That's incredible.
Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
I've always thought that. Simon says, guy is really good
as well.
Speaker 1 (01:15:54):
He's good. I'm also a sucker for the any of
the dogs that go chase down the Frisbees. I'm good
with that.
Speaker 3 (01:16:00):
About the jump ropers from Cincinnati, what are them? The firecrackers?
Speaker 1 (01:16:04):
Impressive, but I could take it or leave them. No,
I'm saying they're impressive, but I'm in terms of halftime shows,
I see ever.
Speaker 4 (01:16:12):
Want them on the floor.
Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
It's about halftime shows. I want to see that's all
breaking some ten year old girls. Hearts out of Cincinnati. Hey,
you're stepping into the big time.
Speaker 2 (01:16:20):
Now, let's go bringing the mascots out to do like
the dunks on the trampolines. Give me that all day
every day. Yeah, PACER's power back those guys.
Speaker 1 (01:16:27):
I do anything I like. I like movement, athleticism.
Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
I would queezy when that guy at the Pacer game
which kept on stacking the chairs on top of each other, Yeah,
kept on going up there.
Speaker 1 (01:16:38):
That'll that'll. I'm like, if they're waiting for something terrible
to happen, I'm like, if.
Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
He falls, it's it's Rick Carlisle saying it's fun while lasted, right.
Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
I just wonder how you figure out you're good at that?
See if I could stand on these chairs at forty feet,
that is true.
Speaker 4 (01:16:52):
Probably a lot of broken balls along the way, I
would imagine.
Speaker 1 (01:16:55):
And those those those big acts, they're on tour all
year long. College is and NBA they much Red to
make a halftime, it's gotta be between five and ten grand,
I think for an appearance at this point in time.
Speaker 2 (01:17:08):
I looked this up before, so thirty five hundred dollars
or thirty five performances for Red Panda, But this is
when was this post eight years ago?
Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
So I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
Yes, So let's just call it five grand five grand
for what five games? Twenty five grand a week, under
grand a month.
Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
Now. NBA might play, I don't know. Do they pay
for your travel?
Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
Well, jeez, I won't hope.
Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
So you never know, though.
Speaker 4 (01:17:31):
I would think not. Actually, probably got to show up
on your own accord.
Speaker 1 (01:17:35):
They may at the beginning of the other they're like, Hey,
I'm going to be in your area during this set
of dates. Do you have a home game something like that?
Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
Yeah, she could hit you know, through or four in
the Middlewest. Yeah, it says.
Speaker 2 (01:17:45):
Back in twenty nineteen, she was commanding twenty five hundred
to three thousand dollars for five minute performance. Now five thousand.
Speaker 1 (01:17:51):
Okay, it's good work if you can get it. I
hope she's got a good insurance plan, though, I would hope. So,
all right, coming up in just a moment, we'll talk
more about the week fourteen in the National Football League, Mark,
do you have questions for us?
Speaker 3 (01:18:08):
Today? Are the things you're interested.
Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
In curiously about always and every day.
Speaker 1 (01:18:11):
We'll do some of that, and then in the next
hour we've got a big hour for you. Scott Agnes
is gonna stop by, give us the state of the Pacers,
and Jason Hammer's gonna give you all the info you
need to make some money this week. It's all straight
ahead ninety three five one. I love the fact that Indianapolis,
Indiana is locally and nationally the focal point of college
(01:18:33):
football this weekend. Locally, obviously, we love Indiana, We love
talking about the Hoosiers. They're they're making their their way
through the world, so to speak, and they're putting their
imprint on it with Kurt Signetti. But nationally this is
the biggest game of the week conference championship game Indiana
Ohio State number one versus Number two, Downtown Indianapolis Lucas
Oil Stadium and specifically the Hoosiers right in the middle
(01:18:55):
of being the game of the week nationally when games
are starting the matter.
Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
James, that's amazing here.
Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
I love that.
Speaker 4 (01:19:03):
Yeah, it should be a great atmosphere.
Speaker 6 (01:19:05):
Like I said earlier this week, I'm kind of bummed
that Albil road for the Jacksonville game comes Saturday traveling,
but I'm looking forward to hopefully everyone else having a
great time.
Speaker 1 (01:19:16):
I think I read somewhere where Indiana has the largest
amount of alumni in the country, like eight hundred thousand alumni,
and that might be part of the reason these tickets
are so hard to get. You got a lot of
people been waiting a long long time for anything to
cheer about with with college football, and here it is
in their own backyard.
Speaker 3 (01:19:32):
Yeah, I know, I've kind of been on an island.
I expect it to be seventy thirty Indiana fans, if
not more. I get that Ohio State is Ohio State,
and obviously they're alumni bases big as well, But yeah,
it just this game means more to Indiana fans. Frankly,
for Ohio State fans, it's you know, I guess it matters,
but their big game was last week and they just
(01:19:53):
won a national championship. For Indiana, this would be the greatest,
the greatest winning program history, I guess could have bigger
wins obviously coming out the next month and a half.
So yeah, ticket prices are in saying north to seven
hundred if you haven't seen it, that's the cheapest ticket
right now to get into the building. And what a day.
What a day downtown Downtown businesses got to be foaming
(01:20:15):
at the mouth to entertain in between what four and
eight o'clock in between those two games over Gambridge Field
hous and then obviously big ten action at eight o'clock.
Speaker 1 (01:20:25):
I'm starting to lean your way because when I was
reading that about it says eight hundred and five thousand
is one of the largest alumni bases in the world
in more than one hundred and sixty five countries, but
nearly four hundred and seventeen thousand IU alumni reside in
Indiana alone, making it the largest alumni community in the nation.
(01:20:46):
So that's why your tickets are getting harder and harder
to get. You're competing with about four hundred thousand other
people who've been waiting forever.
Speaker 3 (01:20:53):
Anything, you guys think back to last year's game and
think matters for Saturday Night.
Speaker 1 (01:20:59):
I think any has better than they were a year ago.
Think that matters a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:21:04):
Yeah, definitely. I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:21:07):
Kevin, I do wonder like when it comes to Ohio said,
they're on for having like the dudes, And when it
comes to Indiana, you've had dudes make some plays this year.
I cannot deny that. But are they on that level?
Can you get to that level? Can you hang with
those guys? Because I remember having a conversation with a
couple of IU students that came to the past Coast game.
(01:21:29):
There were Mike Well's students sho out to Mike Wells
and I.
Speaker 4 (01:21:33):
Was asking him.
Speaker 6 (01:21:33):
I said, hey, okay, you guys go to this school,
you guys cover this team. You know the atmosphere, how
realistic is it for them to win? And you know
they're giving me their takes and you know, different opinions.
And one of the kids tells me, hey, or I
should said, young man. He tells me, you know you
don't think that so and so and so can hang
with Jeremiah Smith. I was like, no, Jeremiah Smith is
(01:21:56):
the best player in the country. Like so, I'm like, hey,
is this safety or cornerback you're talking about gonna have
some extra help and some extra shade over there. Like,
you know, I don't want to see anybody match up
one on one on Carnell Tator Jeremiah Smith, But I
do think this is a chance to kind of show
not only this year's team improve from this year's team,
that you have some dudes, but hopefully recruit some of
(01:22:17):
those kids as well.
Speaker 3 (01:22:18):
Yeah. I mean, when I think back to last year's game,
I thought Indiana more than held their own through the
first twenty maybe even twenty five minutes of that game.
And again that was at Ohio State. Yeah, and then
everything kind of unraveled as they have the muff or
the drop punt snap and then Caleb Downs returns the
punt fut it down right right right early third quarter,
and then from then on you just kind of had letting,
(01:22:41):
you know, let go of the rope, I guess, And
you know, I think a similar thing maybe up at
Notre Dame when Jeremiah Love has that run that kind
of you know, Indiana had settled in that game. Really
not you, Curtis Rok are just throwing a pick prior
to that. So you know, that's something I'm curious about
in this year's run last year, and Kurtzcineti has been
brutally honest about this. Last year. Kurtzygnetis a A. The
(01:23:04):
moments were too big for us at Ohio State at
Notre Dame B we just got out played thoroughly. Now
the moments well, Indiana's on the neutral field the rest
of the year. It's a neutral field Saturday night, it'll
be a neutral field for three games coming up in
the playoff. And again, I think they will have an
advantage crowd wise, and I think they'll travel like none
(01:23:27):
other in the playoffs. So that's true that I think
is a little different now for them. And you know,
still you obviously have to prove yourself on the on
the field and an environment can't just carry you there.
But it'll be different than obviously playing at Ohio State
or at Notre Dame.
Speaker 1 (01:23:41):
Yeah, and James what I was saying, they're just better
this year. They got a couple more dudes, and they've
been in these situations now, particularly with the comeback win
at Iowa, with the way that they got it together
in the second half at Oregon, which is not an
easy place to play and win. So the fact that
they've got more experiences, a couple more guys, and that
(01:24:03):
feeling of doesn't matter what's going on, we're gonna be
able to win this football game. That's what I think
makes them a better team, much more so than last year.
That's where I'm coming from there.
Speaker 6 (01:24:13):
Yeah, I would agree there, Kevin, and you alluded to this.
This was way back when I want to see the
fever where I'll say this real quick, the fever We're
playing the aces and it's like, can you just make
it close enough to get put some pressure on him?
Speaker 3 (01:24:27):
Has been in no game pressure this year that fourth
quarter the.
Speaker 6 (01:24:30):
First game of the year, was there only really close
one and kind of backdoor And that was way back when.
So can you put some pressure on him? And does
that make them make a mistake or perhaps have some slippage?
Speaker 1 (01:24:40):
All right, We'll be talking about it for a couple
more days. Coming up Saturday night, Lucas Oil Stadium coming
up next we'll check in on the Indiana Pacers. Also,
Mark's got some questions and we've got betting advice for
you with Jason Hammer a little bit later on in
the show. Lots to do stick around.
Speaker 3 (01:24:57):
Nine o'clock hour on a Thursday.
Speaker 1 (01:24:59):
And of course any of the Pacers struggle a little
bit right now, obviously all the injuries and everything else
going on, but it just feels like there's one or
two points per game. And I guess that's how it
goes in the NBA, James, where the other team will
go on that big run like last night for the
Denver Nuggets, and the Pacers just can't find a run
like that in their own game to catch up. Sometimes.
Speaker 6 (01:25:21):
Yeah, let's go to Palois Liquors Hotline. We have Scott
Agnes from field House Files to way in on these Pacers.
Speaker 4 (01:25:28):
Scott, how you.
Speaker 5 (01:25:28):
Doing good morning, James doing well? How about you?
Speaker 4 (01:25:31):
I'm doing good?
Speaker 6 (01:25:32):
I mean you got to you know watching all of
us did a historic performance last night, not in favor
of the Pacers with Jamal Murray going off there. And
when you look at that game last night, that second
quarter in particular, what do you think was the issue?
Speaker 4 (01:25:47):
Was kind of letting the rope go there.
Speaker 9 (01:25:49):
Yeah, first of all, I mean that's what I love
so much about the nbas On any given night, you
never know who's going to get go off. I mean,
he was in the zone of all zones knocking down
ten of eleven pointers.
Speaker 5 (01:26:02):
So that was a lot of fun.
Speaker 9 (01:26:03):
Now, in terms of these runs, yeah, it continues to
be a repetitive issue for this Pacers team. For me,
some of the things that stood out was just not
getting back on defense, Like how many times are you
gonna get let Yokic grab a rebound after a make
and throw it eighty feet down the court and.
Speaker 5 (01:26:22):
Potentially get a layup?
Speaker 9 (01:26:24):
Like it was those little things. I know that they
there was a little zone action that the Pacers went
against and such, But more than anything, I think Jokic
was just it didn't even look like he tries out there.
That's what's so almost insulting about the way in which
he plays, right, I think he's kind of mastered what
(01:26:45):
Lebron did so well and does so well if he
gives the amount of energy that's needed for that situation,
and so he realizes, hey, tonight it's Jamal Murray's night,
and what a combination you have, and when you think
about it, they were without Aaron Gordon, who would have
a favorable matchup with all that. So the reality is
they won a couple games with then faced back to
(01:27:07):
back playoff opponents and didn't fair very well.
Speaker 3 (01:27:10):
Scott, I wanted to get more into boots on the ground.
You went up to Noblesville and checked out Victor Aldipo,
and I could have sworn I saw him court side
for the Pacers Bulls game over the weekend there, but
Victor oldepot trying to make a comeback, currently g leaguing
it up. What did you think of Victor and his
potential NBA return?
Speaker 9 (01:27:32):
Yeah, so he was courtside, was sitting kind of near
the visitors bench row one right there for that Pacers
Bulls game and really felt.
Speaker 5 (01:27:40):
The love from Pacer fans.
Speaker 9 (01:27:41):
He was saying, and still believes and feels like this
as his second home. He acknowledges some of the mistakes
that he's made in the past and decisions he's made.
But first of all, from that standpoint, k be. One
of the big things he was emphasizing to me postgame
was I'm a changed man. Lot of things, you know,
didn't go my way, and I've had to figure it
(01:28:03):
out and work around them and.
Speaker 5 (01:28:06):
Judge me on who I am today is what he
would say.
Speaker 9 (01:28:09):
And on the court, he's a guy that would show
his old self several different instances.
Speaker 5 (01:28:15):
There's one play that sticks out to me. He took
the ball.
Speaker 9 (01:28:17):
Out, threw it in, got it right back and dribbled
right into it, dribble pull up fifteen feet out and
nailed the jumper right. But the main thing right now
he's dealing with is getting himself back up to shape
back into condition. So he's playing four and five minute
birth twenty minutes or so maybe per game. Is in
(01:28:38):
this for the long haul, with the hope that maybe
come the end of this year twenty twenty five or
maybe trade deadline, that he'll get some looks for the
NBA as he tries to a test comeback because he
had that torn quad ten and that everyone here remembers,
which surgery did not go well, and he had the
(01:28:58):
same injury like a a year later, and then he
dealt with a patilla and attending an issue on the
other leg which kept him out of basketball for two years.
As he kind of got all of those things straightened out.
Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
I don't know if you asked this directly some of
I'm asking you to offer an opinion on it, but
you know, you kind of alluded to him expressing maybe
some regret and his exit here or how it ended.
Does he, you know, have that regret And if he
could go back and hindsight it up, what do you
think that would be.
Speaker 9 (01:29:33):
Yeah, it wasn't specific to one process or how he
handled any I think the number one thing, and now
this is me speculating, is the people he had around him,
and that was well, that's what doomed his situation. Is
he had a lot of yes men, a lot of
people that he can't trust around him. I mean, I
don't know if it's still active, but at one time
(01:29:53):
he was suing his manager for stealing money from him
and to open a nightclub up in New York City,
for example. And so I think he got a little.
Speaker 5 (01:30:03):
Too his ego got a little.
Speaker 9 (01:30:05):
Bit too big, and then he started listening to the
wrong people and that didn't go over well. But he
did not specifically get into this and that and you know,
moving on from here and those sorts of things. But yeah,
all have a lot more in a story to come,
But it was a very reflective conversation I thought from
(01:30:26):
him and where he's at today, and people may not
know he's a father now.
Speaker 5 (01:30:29):
And he's as you would know.
Speaker 9 (01:30:31):
He's talked about how much impact that has had on
him over the last three years as well.
Speaker 1 (01:30:37):
Scott Agnes joining us on the Paylistickers hotline right now
covers all things that Indiana Pacers and the Fever as well.
But while we're talking about Victor Oladepot, what's your sense
can he physically become a rotational player again in the NBA?
Speaker 5 (01:30:50):
That'll be tough.
Speaker 9 (01:30:51):
I think Jeff I do just from the physical limitations
more than anything. I view him right now as could
potentially be kind of in that James Johnson role with
more ability to play. He still can give you some
good minutes. He still knows the game very well. He
can still knock down some shots, but I just don't
(01:31:13):
know if his body can go through there and give
you twenty minutes per game at that level, which is
at a whole different level obviously than the G League.
So I think that's what he's trying to figure out
and show to the NBA teams right now. In the
next couple of weeks that the G League showcase that
not only can he play some, but he's also now
(01:31:34):
a willing teammate. He's willing to do whatever it takes
to be on an NBA roster, and he's trying to
show that right now.
Speaker 6 (01:31:41):
Scott shifting the energy back to the current Pacers. How
would you assess Jarris Walker over the last month or so?
Speaker 9 (01:31:50):
Inconsistent, incomplete, sometimes overthinking. I think that's kind of the
great issue that I think he deals with. Have Gal
Fiakam talked about it after a game, I want to say,
a week or two ago. And it goes for the
most of the roster, right when guys are putting these
new spots where so much is demanded of them, do
(01:32:11):
they go outside themselves? Are they or do they kind
of rise to the occasion? And Jerris leaves a lot
on that bone that we know is there, James, but
we were ready to see it elevate, right He'll be
in the starting lineup and then and then not. This
is a group that has had a lot of inconsistencies
with that lineup and with rotations. And maybe he's a
(01:32:32):
guy like me and doesn't like change very often. Or
doesn't adapt very well to it.
Speaker 5 (01:32:38):
But no, he's one of those players.
Speaker 9 (01:32:40):
I agree James that you know there's a lot more there,
you just haven't seen it nearly enough.
Speaker 3 (01:32:45):
Scott Agnes from field House Files, where you can find
his work. Scott will shift gears again. We'll go a
little fever. WNBA. We know Caitlin Clark and Aleiah Boston
with TSA coming up. I believe that's next week with
their team camp. But also we saw news from a
league standpoint. Is it an extension in the negotiating window
(01:33:06):
for the new CBA? Is that what I saw?
Speaker 9 (01:33:09):
Yeah, So what the WNBA and the players associations decided
to do was extend the current collective bargaining agreement. So
what was supposed to originally expire at the end of October.
Remember they renewed for another year. Well now they've extended
it even longer through January ninth, mostly so that I would.
Speaker 5 (01:33:30):
I believe it's so a lot of these players can
still use team facilities.
Speaker 9 (01:33:34):
That's why the players would want this, right, Like Kaitlin
and others are at the facility often getting workouts using
the basketball court. Well, if you're locked out, I can't
imagine you're using any of that. So this allows for
this dialogue to continue. It feels like it's one of
those where deadlines continue to help with the negotiations, like
(01:33:55):
where was all.
Speaker 5 (01:33:55):
This discussion months ago? Right?
Speaker 9 (01:33:58):
Clearly those those talks have intensified as it feels like
both sides are tossing out scenarios and seeing seeing what
the other side is willing to deal with or willing
to take part with, because there's the reality is.
Speaker 5 (01:34:13):
There's just so many issues at hands here KB.
Speaker 9 (01:34:15):
That they have to sort through, from minimum contracts to
revenue sharing on down.
Speaker 1 (01:34:22):
Scott has always great to talk to you, great with
your insight, and we will see you again very soon.
Speaker 5 (01:34:26):
I'm in absolutely Thanks guys.
Speaker 1 (01:34:28):
There is Scott Agnes. Check him out on Fieldhouse Files
and he keeps you very up to date on everything
that's going on with both the Pacers and the Indiana Fever.
And I'm excited to see Caitlin Clark wearing some some red,
white and blue. Finally he'll be good.
Speaker 3 (01:34:40):
Yeah. So again team camp for them. So I don't
think anything on official like kind of game status, but
getting ready for I believe it's a World Cup in September.
That would obviously be next year, and I think it's Brazil,
so yeah, her earle of Boston. It's kind of a
combo with the team heos Pool. There are some older
players that have been a part of all these gold
medals one but then definitely a big younger crowd as well.
(01:35:03):
Caitlin Clark lea Boston would probably fall more into that crowd.
By the way, Mark you said you're out Friday Monday.
Speaker 2 (01:35:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:35:12):
Do we have some birthdays? We do here, cloroly do clorally?
Can we wish some happy birthdays?
Speaker 1 (01:35:19):
Jeff, Happy birthday. I'm not aware of the actual birthdays.
Speaker 3 (01:35:23):
Well, I believe we'll start with the man to the
right of you, James Boyd. Happy early birthdays.
Speaker 6 (01:35:29):
I turned thirty tomorrow. Get a new decade. Look at
that goward to it.
Speaker 3 (01:35:34):
The Big three? U boy, how's it feel last day
of the decade.
Speaker 6 (01:35:40):
I'm feeling old, you know. I woke up back was creaking.
I joking my dad about this. Yes, he's like, boy,
if you don't shut up and get off my phone.
I'm looking forward to it.
Speaker 4 (01:35:47):
Though people are say like, man, like, how did it feel?
Is it something different? No, you just wake up and
then you're a day older than you are.
Speaker 3 (01:35:53):
Spotify lest say you were.
Speaker 6 (01:35:55):
Oh I don't have Spotify, I mean, but I would
imagine it's pretty young. I listen to a lot of
rap music, not not really anything else, but excited about it.
I have a twin sister, so she's a lot more
into it than I am. You know, I'm coming to
work and I'm like, if I get a good meal,
I'm good and go hoop or something like that. She
sent me a video the other day, guys, and she
has like two or three suitcases packed for like those
(01:36:15):
little weekend trip taking with her friends. And yeah, it's
it's been a whole thing. She's looking for outfits for months.
So shout out to Jessica.
Speaker 3 (01:36:22):
Like Jacksonville, Come on, that's your birthday weekend.
Speaker 4 (01:36:25):
Get that suit from from Berlin. I'm not gonna be
mad to go anywhere hot. You know, Birthday weekend. There's
even busters down there calling your name.
Speaker 3 (01:36:35):
Saturday nights, I give you some free tokens because well,
a happy.
Speaker 4 (01:36:39):
Birthday to James. And I believe is there one on Sunday?
Speaker 2 (01:36:42):
Yes, sir, the Big Four?
Speaker 1 (01:36:44):
Oh for your.
Speaker 3 (01:36:46):
Getting old three right here, Mark dyked and happy birthday.
I don't like it.
Speaker 2 (01:36:53):
I don't like it at all.
Speaker 6 (01:36:54):
Well, your other options are, you know, not living, so
you should like it more Mark.
Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
Thanksgiving, my mom got like a piece of umpkin pie,
just like everybody gather. I'm like, don't do this, nobody
wants this. Don't sing this.
Speaker 3 (01:37:04):
Mark. We'll get you some icy hot and we'll get
you I don't know, maybe a blue pill or anything else.
Speaker 4 (01:37:09):
Then no blue pills yet.
Speaker 2 (01:37:11):
But she's like, what do you want to do on
something like I want to sit on my couch and
watch football. That's all I want to do. I'm a
true old man mile.
Speaker 6 (01:37:17):
My mom's kind of mad that I'm not like going
all out and just like it's a milestone.
Speaker 4 (01:37:20):
It's this that I'm like, look, man, we're in the season.
I told you.
Speaker 6 (01:37:23):
My sister's going all out. She looks for she's been
looking for a birthday outfits for months and I'm not kidding.
So she's got She's got to come from me and her.
Speaker 3 (01:37:31):
I do think the Mark. I don't know if you
felt this way about like any of your friends. I
was talking to Matt Taylor about it the other I
think Matt Taylor and you were right around the same age.
I'm thirty six, so it's not like I'm far off.
But Matt Taylor was talking to me a practice the
other day. He was like he started off with like, wait,
how old are you again? He's like, dude, wait till
you get right around forty. He's like, the forty birthday
(01:37:51):
is like the new twenty one and that, like people
do stuff for it. Yeah, because I think they're like
post kids. You know, you're post having kids, and so
it would better be it's like the truth on that. Yeah,
here's our opportunity to kind of turn back the clock
and do something fun. So like the fortieth birthday more
(01:38:11):
so than maybe the thirtieth birthday is a little bit
more of like, hey, let's have a party, Let's go
to whatever a bar and watch the game, Let's get
some friends together, let's you know whatever, take a little
trip around here.
Speaker 2 (01:38:22):
So yeah, we'll see what happens. I'm already getting birthday
gifts some people I don't get birthday gifts from, and
I'm like, you don't need to do this, Like, what's
forty It's a big deal, Like is it? I guess sure?
I'll take I'll take the free gifts.
Speaker 3 (01:38:32):
Man. This man just wants the Bears win on something.
Speaker 4 (01:38:34):
Yeah, simple man.
Speaker 1 (01:38:37):
Boys, there you go, Mark, Happy birthday. What's on your
mind this morning? What can we do for you here?
Speaker 3 (01:38:45):
Questions? How about a game? They've got answers. I'm more
of a corner hole man myself.
Speaker 7 (01:38:52):
Sports music, movies, what high.
Speaker 4 (01:38:55):
Fashion bed hats are so hot right now?
Speaker 3 (01:38:58):
And everything in between?
Speaker 7 (01:39:00):
If you're a foot with four to two each time
to get a glimpse into the mind.
Speaker 3 (01:39:05):
Of Mark Dyke, didn't stop that.
Speaker 7 (01:39:07):
You scaring me each time for I gotta know, Okay,
you pump.
Speaker 4 (01:39:11):
I want a good, clean fight. Let's get it off.
Speaker 2 (01:39:17):
Brady's saying that he's got some blue pills. If I
need any, I said, I'll meet him in the parking
lot after the show. All right, Let's keep it real
simple here. And I can't believe this is going to
be one of the questions to start the show off.
Will the Colts make the playoffs? Yes or no?
Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
Yes, I'll start it off.
Speaker 1 (01:39:35):
I think I gonna win on Sunday, and I think
that they're going to finish the last five weeks three
and two. I do think this team is gonna pull
it back together. I think they're gonna be eleven and six,
and I think they'll be probably playing that first weekend.
But maybe hosting what gives.
Speaker 2 (01:39:50):
You that confidence that they're going to turn it around
in Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (01:39:53):
Because I don't think that the I know it was
against lesser competition, but I still think they are much
closer to the team that we saw in the first
half of the than the team we saw the last
week or two.
Speaker 3 (01:40:02):
Yeah, I will say yes. I really think those three
wildcard teams like Kansas City Houston coming up on Sunday
is definitely going to be a big game. The Colts
really would have to bottom out, I think to get
all the way to the eighth spot. Like I'm talking
a one in four finish in the one win not
being a divisional game. So yeah, I'm not as comfortable
(01:40:26):
with my yes as maybe Jeff is. But I will
say yes.
Speaker 4 (01:40:30):
You know, I want to be pessimistic here, but I'm
gonna go yes, even with the loss on Sunday. That's
what you've been saying all week.
Speaker 6 (01:40:36):
Yeah, but that's my caveat. They won't win the division.
They'll get in as a wildcard. That was My next question,
are they going to win the AFC s yeh see,
I think it's more in that wildcard r. You know, Houston, James.
We talked about this in the media room yesterday. I
think if you polled AFC teams right now and said
what team would you least like to face in the
playoffs out of AFC South, it.
Speaker 3 (01:40:56):
Would be Houston.
Speaker 4 (01:40:57):
Yeah, that defense is for real.
Speaker 3 (01:40:58):
But there's still a full game back of Jacksonville and Indy.
So they and they got Kansas City Sunday night. They've
got some heavy lifting, a little bit more schedule wise,
definitely than Jacksonville. Not Indy, but definitely Jacksonville the rest
of a way. So yeah, Mark, I'll say, I'll say
it's a wildcard.
Speaker 4 (01:41:11):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:41:11):
Sticking with the Colts, we your time of year. How
many Pro Bowlers? What's have I know, obviously the Pro
Bowl game doesn't mean much, but you still get some
some ups and pay for making the Pro Bowl. How
many Pro Bowl selections and we're talking first, we're not
talking about like reserves and all that stuff. How many
is the alternate, right? How many Pro Bowlers will the
Colts have? I'm I'm setting the over under at three
(01:41:33):
and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:41:35):
I'm trying to think Jonathan Taylor's in.
Speaker 2 (01:41:39):
Yeah, I would say that's the biggest layup of them all.
Speaker 1 (01:41:41):
I like, I like Tyler Warren and Quintin Nilson.
Speaker 3 (01:41:45):
Yeah, I think those three are pretty close to locks.
Speaker 6 (01:41:48):
Daniel Jones or no, Yes, you got a pretty good
well fan support.
Speaker 3 (01:41:53):
Yeah he does early on. I mean Jones might be
one of those ones that gets invited mark and that
he doesn't play because the fibula say those three, boy,
I probably stop with those three. I mean cam bine them.
Speaker 9 (01:42:04):
I that name.
Speaker 3 (01:42:06):
You know, he he's a showman, I said, all seriousness.
I think that would help us call and rio Berto Sanchez. Honestly,
is that a really good year. So but I'm gonna
stick with three.
Speaker 6 (01:42:15):
I'll take the over and pick one of the specialists
Sanchez or Luke Rose makes this a long snapwaky for
that Blake groupie late late rival.
Speaker 4 (01:42:24):
I'm not picking him. I saw that I.
Speaker 3 (01:42:26):
Had to rub my eyes on Sunday when I saw
like Michael Badgeley. I think one of the field goals
he made in the Colts did hashtag Pro Bowl vote?
Speaker 9 (01:42:34):
Yeah? True.
Speaker 4 (01:42:35):
Do you think there's any defensive players besides Kim Bay.
Speaker 3 (01:42:37):
I think Buckner with the injury hurts him, and I
don't Sauce. Gardner wasn't that high on the Insauces injury obviously,
but I didn't think Sauce was a high up on
the fan vote as I thought. Franklin, I I to me,
he doesn't you know the tackle number was so high
in recent years, is not as high this year. So
I'll say three, I'll go four.
Speaker 1 (01:42:56):
I'll say three.
Speaker 2 (01:42:57):
Okay, let's stick with the Colts one more time. Blake Groupie,
your comfortability level on Sunday from his distance now, he's
actually hit it from like mid fifties and beyond, So
I mean he maybe he's a lot of that one
hundred and fifty pounds is like in the hamstring or
something like that. Do you believe that the only thing
I can think of?
Speaker 1 (01:43:15):
Do you believe that he's gonna be all fixed with
his special teams coach from Notre Dame Kevin?
Speaker 3 (01:43:21):
Yeah, I mean distance. Market's kind of an interesting way
to ask it. Yeah, I mean, like, I don't think
he'll be short from fifty two distance?
Speaker 9 (01:43:30):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
I thought Mark said distance.
Speaker 2 (01:43:32):
Now I'm just saying, yeah, if you're lying it if you,
I mean you send it. You trotting him out there
for like fifty two yard attempts right.
Speaker 3 (01:43:37):
Out of the gate. I mean with a game on
the line, perhaps, but you know, I don't know if
that's something you know down in distance, fourth and whatever
that's going to depend on it. Again, I'm not overly
comfortable with them. My bar simply do just make the
extra points and nope, be disastrous on the short field goals.
Speaker 6 (01:43:56):
He has had trouble though on some of the short
field goals. Just to point that out alright, indoors the
basis for the question he's been if I had to
scale at one to ten, I will probably be at
like a six as far as my confidence in him, not.
Speaker 2 (01:44:09):
To a thirty year old and you kicking in, you're
getting a little more nervous all of a sudden, maybe, Jeff.
Speaker 1 (01:44:19):
I'm not comfortable with any kicker they've been putting out
since their Maine kicker got hurt at the beginning of
the year.
Speaker 4 (01:44:25):
Spencer Trader, I will give you my leg I am,
I am.
Speaker 1 (01:44:29):
I'm happy that they're gonna have extra points made because
it changes the entire complexion of the scoring and the
game and how you approach things. But I'm not going
to be any more confident if he lines up for
a forty eight yarder than I was when Michael Badgley
was was lining.
Speaker 2 (01:44:41):
Up for a forty eight yard I'm thinking that same thing.
All right, what are we watching? Before we wrap them
and get into a checkdown? What are we watching?
Speaker 1 (01:44:47):
I have?
Speaker 2 (01:44:47):
I will strongly recommend the new season of Stranger Things.
It's breaking broken up into three parts. The first four
episodes are out. They are excellent. So if you've been
holding off on getting on that, sign up for that
one pluribus five episodes in. It is fantastic, but highly
recommend that as well. What are you guys watching?
Speaker 1 (01:45:05):
I've been so busy the last two weeks outside of work.
I still want to watch the last episode and a
half of The Diplomat that I told you two weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (01:45:14):
I was trying to watch Get On Mercy. I've had
to watch TV show.
Speaker 6 (01:45:22):
I'll go pluribus as well, Strangers Thing that just started
it back up. It's funny looking at all these children
who are now adults in real life. And I've started
land Man season two. I know we got one of
our listeners. Aaron out in Minnesota has been on me. Aaron,
I will have a review for you, hopefully after this weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:45:38):
Mark I have to hate BYU this week because of
not heir names playoff chances. But Maddie Bone continues to
watch Mormon Wives.
Speaker 1 (01:45:46):
You did get sucked into that?
Speaker 5 (01:45:47):
Then?
Speaker 3 (01:45:47):
Tell you what. You walk in the room and you
see what's on the TV, and it's hard to look
away from. Yeah, you catch my drift.
Speaker 1 (01:45:54):
Okay, just because your wife is so beautiful, right, just
watching her watch TV is tremendous stuff for you.
Speaker 3 (01:45:59):
Right, Well, that is a given.
Speaker 2 (01:46:00):
Yeah, Kevin's like, are we why are we watching? Are
we take why are you taking notes here? What are
you doing? Oh, we're just watching the show.
Speaker 3 (01:46:10):
All right, let's check it down. We'll get rolling there.
Speaker 7 (01:46:13):
No morning checkdown on Nutty thwee five and one oh
seven five the fan.
Speaker 1 (01:46:17):
All right, speed reads. The Pacers losing last night at
home at the field House, this time one thirty five,
one twenty to the Denver Nuggets.
Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
What a night for Jamal Murray.
Speaker 4 (01:46:25):
James fifty two of them.
Speaker 1 (01:46:27):
Thanks great player, his second fifty burger of the season.
Nikola Jokis had twenty four points, eight rebounds, thirteen assists.
Pascal Siakam once again leading the way for the Pacers
with twenty three. They'll play again tomorrow night in Chicago
eight pm, Tips seven thirty year time here at ninety
three five one oh seven five the fan. The Colts
and Jaguars play on Sunday afternoon at one. Right now,
(01:46:48):
the Colts are one and a half point favorites. Kevin Bowen,
how are you feeling as we look at a potential
rain game.
Speaker 3 (01:46:55):
Yeah? I like the Colts, you know, but again, we'll
see how the rest of the week plays out. Jacks
has got some notable injuries on their injury list. No
Josh Downs, no Kenny Moore than second yesterday and that
was a walk through a practice estimation, So those would
be a couple to keep an eye on for what
it's where Daniel Jones was listed as full. He was
limited last Wednesday, so again the expectation is Daniel Jones
(01:47:17):
should be good to go all right.
Speaker 1 (01:47:18):
On campus, We're getting ready for Indiana and Ohio State
Big Ten Conference Championship Saturday night, Lucas Oil Stadium, eight pm.
Number one versus Number two. And what now is a
ticket price for the cheap seats Mark Dyton at that game.
Speaker 2 (01:47:33):
Well, I haven't checked in the last hour. But if
it's the same as it was this morning and you're
looking north at seven hundred just to get in the door.
Speaker 1 (01:47:39):
Are we looking at it over eight hundred dollars at
game time?
Speaker 4 (01:47:42):
I mean, that's some t swift stuff right there. Big game.
Speaker 1 (01:47:45):
I don't think these are gonna be I don't think
people who have these tickets, even when the game starts,
are gonna be able to unload them. You know that
people people just aren't going to get a discount on
these things at all. They're not going to be available.
I don't think so cheapest a discount, no, because sometimes
you know that you get you really stuck with a
pair of tickets.
Speaker 3 (01:48:04):
It's halfway through the first quarter. I don't think that's
going to happen.
Speaker 2 (01:48:06):
There are two seats left in section six twenty five,
Row twenty eight that they're going for seven hundred and
eight dollars including fees.
Speaker 3 (01:48:13):
So where are we at on the commas for the
lower level like three thousand, four thousand and five.
Speaker 2 (01:48:18):
I would venture to guess that I'd have to do
a lot of scrolling, But I mean it was mid
three thousands, yes, like around fifty forty yard line. We're
looking at twenty three hundred right now. They go up
to thirty two hundred and beyond.
Speaker 1 (01:48:30):
Those have stayed fairly stable, I think so. All right. Uh,
in college basketball last night, number twenty two Indiana on
the road. They lose a Big Ten conference game. Kevin
at Minnesota seventy three sixty four. Did not see that
coman even after the first ten minutes of the game,
I thought Indian is gonna win this game.
Speaker 3 (01:48:44):
Yeah, it's an awful loss. Awful loss, Minnesota is, I
said Booty earlier. I guess doo doo. I don't know
what other analogies that could throw out there. So they
had lost three in a row. They've already lost to
two mid majors. If you look at you know, metrics,
it's a quad three loss right now, for which you
know won't be very helpful for them come March. So yeah,
(01:49:05):
really important to get the one, you know, Louisville on
Saturday or Kentucky next Saturday. You need a little bit
on that resume on the right side of it. Again,
there's a lot to like, I think about Darren Dereze's
first seven or eight games, but last night was ugly.
Speaker 1 (01:49:17):
All right. One NFL game tonight, Thursday Night Football features
the Detroit Lions the Dallas Cowboys. We'll see if Jason
Hammer likes the over on that fifty four and a half?
Mark dyked And how are you feeling about that one?
Speaker 2 (01:49:29):
I'm feeling like I like that number a lot, and
I also am very excited to see these teams get
going because I feel like a loss for either one
could be the death knell for their playoff hopes.
Speaker 1 (01:49:38):
All right, it's coming up at a moment. Jason Hammer
will tell you what he likes for those lines and
what he thinks about the Colts playing on the road
in Jacksonville. Can they end that tenure losing streak? We'll
find out next did ninety three five and one oh
seven five?
Speaker 3 (01:49:50):
We get to suck on that all week? All right,
it's time to make some money. The great Jason Hammer
in studio with us right now. You hear him every
afternoon on our sister station, that would be WIBC Hammer
and Nigel Degenerates next store the podcast, and oh boy,
Jason Hammer, we have got a great slate. We've got
(01:50:10):
an awesome Thursday night game, some big, big time local flavor.
I'll leave it up to you. Where would you like
to begin first?
Speaker 8 (01:50:17):
Like, this is such a fun time right now, right
like downtown Indie. I know it's gonna be cold, but
it's going to be a rocket On Saturday. You've got basketball,
you've got football, colts have a meaningful game. So even
though he's walked out of the studio right now, I
feel like the perfect person to bring all of this together,
the big, awesome sports landscape that we've got going on
right here in central Indie. Here to be the voice
(01:50:40):
of reason, ladies and gentlemen, Ai jeff Rickard.
Speaker 11 (01:50:44):
Look, we can talk about the NFL, or we can
give the people what they want and talk about cycling.
That's right, a grown man wearing Spandex and cycling as
a program director. I know from experience that nothing moves
the needle like talking about how cycling makes you better
than most people. People really seem to respond when I
go into gross detail about the super tight all Spandex
(01:51:05):
outfit I wear as the bicycle seat rubs dangerously close
to my anus and junk. Also, when I'm blocking one
lane streets as you are driving and trying to get
to work. I feel satisfaction. Uh huh, sure I.
Speaker 1 (01:51:15):
Could move over, but hey, screw you.
Speaker 3 (01:51:18):
The Spandex makes the rules.
Speaker 11 (01:51:19):
Sure again, Why would we talk about the NFL when
I can create the visual of sweat developing on my
pasty white nether region and reminding all of you that,
because of my bike skills, I'm just better than you
Colts pacers, Who gives a damn? What listeners really want
are stories from my bike, my time in Colorado, and
other things that are totally not boring to people in Indianapolis.
Speaker 3 (01:51:40):
Totally not.
Speaker 11 (01:51:41):
Now, if you will excuse me as the boss, I'm
about to mandate an all Spandex dress code for James,
Kevin and Mark.
Speaker 3 (01:51:48):
That's AI jeff Rickard weighing in on, Oh, gentleman, waiting
all year for that. I lived up to it. It's
a shame he's not in studio to hear that.
Speaker 4 (01:51:58):
He Yah, we got to run that bell to.
Speaker 8 (01:52:00):
Go somewhere and put the Spandex on literally, yeah, polishing
as we speak.
Speaker 3 (01:52:04):
Oh lord boy, is that what we're calling it these days?
All right? So here's what we're gonna do.
Speaker 8 (01:52:10):
We've got so many games I want to focus on that.
I'm gonna give you a play for Thursday Night. I
don't have props tonight now, game wise, like on the
actual game pick I believe I'm nine and four. Yeah,
Thursday Night prop bets have been a disaster. So we're
gonna focus on the game tonight. And I like the
Lions of minus three here.
Speaker 3 (01:52:30):
I'm a by low sell high guy. You guys know this.
Speaker 8 (01:52:35):
The look at headline before Thanksgiving was about six points here.
So you mean to tell me because of a game
on Thanksgiving with each one of these teams that's.
Speaker 3 (01:52:43):
Going to drop a field goal down? That seems like
an awful lot to me.
Speaker 8 (01:52:47):
And are we really to believe the Cowboys are going
to sweep at Philly, Kansas City and.
Speaker 3 (01:52:55):
At Detroit on a short week. That's a tall task.
Speaker 8 (01:52:58):
If I told you the seasons, well the Cowboys sweep that,
nobody's signing up for that. And if you kind of
break down the numbers here, the Lions have been excellent
following losses since November of twenty two, going fourteen to
no straight up and thirteen and one against the spread.
So I am in on Detroit tonight. Cowboys are better,
(01:53:20):
but we're treating these dudes like they're the eighty five
Bears all of a sudden, I'll take the Lions at
home on a short week here, and I'll lay the three.
Speaker 3 (01:53:26):
Okay, Okay, I think I can get behind that.
Speaker 7 (01:53:29):
All right, shift together, Let's.
Speaker 3 (01:53:32):
Shift gears to Saturday night again. It opened up. Ohio
State is a five and a half point favorite. This
line has started to shrink a bit towards Kurt Signetti
and the Hoosiers. It is certainly one of the more
anticipated sporting events we've had in our city. What do
you like?
Speaker 8 (01:53:48):
In the last eight Big Ten Championship football games? The
favorite is eight and er and six and two against
the spread. Boy, and since their last loss to Michigan
over a year ago, Ohio State fourteen one and one
against the spread. And they just haven't been beating up
on little sisters of the poor. That includes housing Tennessee,
(01:54:11):
housing Oregon, and rolling through the National Championship. Man, I
hate to say this because I like Indiana, and I
think Indiana might be second best team in America.
Speaker 3 (01:54:21):
Hey, money's money, folks.
Speaker 8 (01:54:23):
I'm gonna lay the four and a half with the
buck guys, I hate myself for it. I know your
audience probably hates me for this, but here's the real reality.
Speaker 3 (01:54:32):
I've never heard anyone ever hate you.
Speaker 8 (01:54:34):
I would take Ohio State minus four and a half
against anybody in America, Bama, Georgia, A and m Oregon,
whoever you got. I think Ohio State is the best
team in America. Indiana might be second. But the last
time you could get Ohio State at this low of
number I can't remember. It's a wild weekend where you
(01:54:56):
can get the buck guys at four and a half
and Bama catching poor points all at the same time.
So man, please don't hate me. I love Don Fisher.
He's doing God's work on Saturday. But I got the
Buckeyes for my money minus four and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:55:10):
It seems like a good time to remember that. At
Jason Allen Hammer is where you can find out.
Speaker 8 (01:55:14):
Yes, all hate mail you can send to Tony Katz kroc.
Speaker 3 (01:55:18):
W Ic.
Speaker 6 (01:55:21):
So any other college games you're looking at Hammer? Or
should we look ahead to Colts Jaguars, which you know
is a huge matchup not only from the standings, but
I would imagine from the betting standpoint as well.
Speaker 8 (01:55:31):
We're gonna circle the wagons, buy Low Sell High. When
Vegas tells you something, you have to listen. Okay, Okay,
So everybody's down on the Colts right now. They might
not have a good kicker, there's injuries in the secondary. Fine,
they haven't won in Jacksonville since like the Reagan administration.
All right, fine, but look at this spread here. Colts
(01:55:53):
are still favorites in this game at Jacksonville. Vegas is
telling you something here.
Speaker 3 (01:56:00):
Jacksonville is not that good the Colts.
Speaker 8 (01:56:03):
Yes, they struggle against elite defenses or good defenses even
and you look at the Pittsburgh game. I know Pittsburgh's
defense isn't great, but you commit six turnovers and it
was still a one possession game at the end. So
the Colts aren't as bad as people are making them
out to be. And we still don't know if Trevor
Lawrence is any good or not. So I'm telling you
(01:56:23):
this is a by Low Sell High. I'm gonna take
the Colts. I'm gonna lay the one and a half,
and I think they break that streak down to Jacksonville
this weekend. Vegas odds makers are begging everybody to hitch
their wagon on the Jags home divisional dogs. I get it,
the numbers are usually there, but I'm not sold on
that Jack's defense at all.
Speaker 3 (01:56:44):
I think the Colts put up some points.
Speaker 4 (01:56:45):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:56:46):
You walked in this studio and Mark Dyton turns forty
years old on Sunday, Jason Hammer, and you told us
you had a play in the Bears Hackers game coming
up on Sunday. Bekind well, Mark Dyton be getting excited
about this or not.
Speaker 8 (01:57:03):
So I'm gonna help Mark out a little bit. We
had a big town hall meeting here at work yesterday
where we found out all of our benefits are gonna
be way more expensive.
Speaker 3 (01:57:11):
So here's how we're gonna pay for it. Mark. You're
gonna take the family.
Speaker 4 (01:57:14):
Nest day, okay, And you're gonna better on the.
Speaker 3 (01:57:17):
Green Bay Packers this weekend.
Speaker 8 (01:57:18):
Oh my gosh, minus six and a half green Bay
eleven and one straight up and ten and two against
the spread against the Bears and the Matt Lafloor Era.
Speaker 3 (01:57:29):
And look, I would buy this time.
Speaker 6 (01:57:32):
Yeah, you turn that front upside down. Mark, you want
to make some money here.
Speaker 8 (01:57:35):
I could buy this up a couple points and I'd
still feel good about it. I'm in This is my
favorite play of the weekend. That Packer's defense is legit.
The Bears are just a couple of plays away in
every game, and Mark knows this, uh huh from having
three wins compared to what they've gotten out nine. So
I'm telling you the better defense at home prime time.
(01:57:57):
Give me Green Bay all day. Get this while at
six and a half. If it gets up to seven,
you get into push category and that stinks. It's better
than a loss, but I'd rather have the six and
a half. I am in on the Packers, so I'm
crapping on everybody on this shows. Packers. It's time to
make some cash this weekend. Kid's got Christmas gifts to
(01:58:17):
pay for.
Speaker 2 (01:58:18):
Let's go well, I've never wanted you'd be more wrong,
and I was talking about getting blue pills in the
parking lot. Probably need some Valium two or something.
Speaker 3 (01:58:24):
After that play, the AI jeff Rickord is the greatest
thing I've heard in years, So thank you for that.
Jason Hammer again degenerates next door of the podcast twice
a week, Hamm and Rob Kendall and He's got you
every afternoon.
Speaker 4 (01:58:37):
Hammer Head here Man, Hammer.
Speaker 3 (01:58:39):
And I shields up the IBC one more rundown on
it, and I'm simply relaying info here Lions. You said three
or three and a half for tonight. I got three.
I saw three at multiple books, Lions three Ohio State.
He's taking the points. It's four and a half. He
likes the Colts is a one and a half point favorite,
and he likes the Packers. On Mark Dyke his birthday
with a.
Speaker 8 (01:58:59):
Big line and James Landman season two doesn't really get
going till about episode three. Okay, so you're gonna have
the stomach through the first one. But there is a
lot of Ali Larder, so that's not the worst thing.
Speaker 4 (01:59:10):
Never too bad about that.
Speaker 3 (01:59:11):
At Jason what you say?
Speaker 4 (01:59:13):
Mark on the full Twitter Jason Allen Hammer.
Speaker 3 (01:59:15):
That might have a few mentions coming his way.
Speaker 5 (01:59:17):
This is.
Speaker 3 (01:59:20):
Hammer Money's money. Thank you sir, you got it. Thank
you guys. That's a great Jason Hammer right there again.
You can hear him every afternoon over on WIBC. We'll
do it one final time here fan morning. Joe Shady
was back last Thursday, right, Mark Titon, that was awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:59:34):
Maybe I do have the musical taste of a forty
two year old. Because I saw Jack White and Eminem
and I got up at the family Thanksgiving, I said, yes,
more of this please.
Speaker 3 (01:59:43):
Once I saw that, I'm like, Lions are going to
come back and win this game.
Speaker 6 (01:59:46):
Unfortunately, we gotta tell your kids like, this is history,
this is real music. You wait to drop that line someday. Yeah,
you guys think Kate Pop Demon Hunter is still great.
Listen to Slim Shady right now. Well, Jack White shreds Pilgrims.
Speaker 3 (01:59:58):
Yeah, take this. We got Marshall Mather on our TV
right now. It is kind of a quiet Thursday from
a sports calendar standpoint locally, but again it is absolutely
loaded coming up this weekend. James and I'll be back
up at Colts practice later today for their first official
practice of the week. It's Colts and Jacks. I believe
it's Iron Eagle and JJ Watt again this week on
(02:00:21):
the call.
Speaker 1 (02:00:22):
JJ.
Speaker 6 (02:00:22):
I did watch some of the live copy back here.
I think he's really good.
Speaker 3 (02:00:25):
Will you share for our audience a little bit that
maybe missed James. The Daniel Jones story. I touched on
it yesterday on the show, but I thought Daniel was
actually was pretty candid about it. Yesterday explaining his college
roommates that have helped them through this fibula injury.
Speaker 6 (02:00:40):
Yes, so I saw this clip from I believe it
was CBS during the game broadcast where they kind of
wanted to detail about the path that Daniel Jones is
wearing on his fracture fibula and how it was three
D printed by his college teammates at.
Speaker 4 (02:00:56):
Duke who found a three D printing business.
Speaker 6 (02:00:58):
It got started, according to Dani you know, who went
to detail yesterday and the locker room about it. It
got started or he was kind of like the genesis
of it when he broke his collar bone back in
college and they created some kind of three D printed
sling or cast or something to put on that, and
they stayed in contact ince then, still really good friends
to this day, and now he's relying on them all
(02:01:20):
these years later. And he said that actually one of
the friends flew the three D printed cast or pad
or whatever out to Kansas City and stayed for the
game and had him put it on.
Speaker 4 (02:01:30):
So I was a little bit surprised that he wanted
to detail that much about it.
Speaker 3 (02:01:34):
Yeah, So my understanding is this, you know, he obviously
had the issue in practice a couple thursdays ago, right,
and it sounds like either Thursday night or that Friday morning.
They literally FaceTime his roommate, the Golden Training staff, and
they scan the injury or the injured erag on your phone,
(02:01:56):
right and they and I say they his former roommates
that run this company are able to then take that image,
produce the printing takes about I think overnight right to
print it, and then, like you said, James, they flew
to cancer. Imagine like, yeah, my college roommates are coming
in town for the game. Oh that's fun. You guys
go anywhere for dinner Saturday. Oh no, they're dropping off
(02:02:17):
a medical device to help me play in the game
on Sunday.
Speaker 4 (02:02:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:02:20):
And the company is called Protected. The last two letters
are three D instead of D. Thought that was a
nice little on the company name, but very unique situation
and something that Daniel seemed to actually want to talk about.
Speaker 4 (02:02:35):
Sometimes we talk to.
Speaker 6 (02:02:35):
Him and it's like, guys, I'm ready to you know,
go eat my lunch and get out of here. But
he seemed to enjoy kind of going down memory lane,
and I do want to dig into that further, hopefully
like an opportunity to because I have so many more
questions about it, mainly one of them being, Okay, you
broke a collarbone back in what was it, twenty eighteen,
twenty nineteen, whatever it was, when you were in college. Dude,
(02:02:57):
you're trusting them with a lot at that point in
your career because you're trying to get to the NFL.
So for you to say, hey, I'm this future pro athlete,
I'll just be your guinea pig, that's a lot of trust.
And so it is cool to see that they've bonded
over that and hopefully they don't need uh, he doesn't
need too many more devices from them.
Speaker 3 (02:03:14):
The YouTube chat wants Brian Kelly to Penn State, and
I'm here to endorse it. I think Brian Kelly fits
Penn State for some reason.
Speaker 6 (02:03:22):
I don't know Brian Kelly fits anywhere, but I think
that he would provide theater.
Speaker 2 (02:03:26):
He'll sure try to find the accent.
Speaker 6 (02:03:28):
You certainly have to ask if there's a Pennsylvany asks
us there. Yeah, he might actually be cringe enough to
do it. No, it's not Pittsburgh, but presconsin, which would
make it more all the more.
