Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning, and welcome into the Fan Morning Show. And
we're looking forward to some joint practices with the Green
Bay Packers and the Indianapolis Colts a little bit later
on today, and Mark is off and running out. You
might be like a minus seventy four and a half
for the week on that one right there. That's all right,
and help it.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
It's bad week, bad week for horrible football teams coming
to town.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Tally coach. Good morning, Kevin Bowen. It feels like we're
edging closer and closer to football season. Then it always
seems like the last few days, week or two just
takes forever and ever and ever, doesn't it.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Good morning as well. Appreciate everybody tuning in on this
Thursday morning. Mark Dyton, good jimmy great listener reached out
to me yesterday and was curious if that sounder will
be played on the PA at Grand Park today and
or inside of Lucasol Stadium on Saturdays and absolutely better.

(00:54):
Do you have that type of clout?

Speaker 4 (00:55):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
You might maybe you've been there before you used to
work for the team, but it is Peyton Manning who
says it. I mean, I am incorporating you know, local
athletic heroes around this town.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
That's his words that he says.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Matt Taylor, stick Mike. Today at Grand Park, all of
a sudden goes over and Mark Dyton's got a mini
speaker that you know, plays that that sounder JJ Stinkowitz
on Saturday, it.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Would just have the nas ether beat in the background
and it would just be Packers what happened perfect?

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah, yeah, it does feel like in August at times.
The calendar moves a little slowly, but yeah, it is
kind of wild. I mean, August fourteenth, it's our final
day at Grand Park, and honestly, we've had great I
know it's been hot, but you know, fans have been
able to watch every single practice and James, you know,
I can't recall the last time we've been at Grand
Park and we haven't gone indoors one time. And today

(01:45):
looks awesome. Today looks like the best weather day we've
had in a while and not like scorching hot there.
So looking forward to at three o'clock to five today,
Colts and Packers at Grand Park.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Looking forward to that and then kind of an early
afternoon game on Saturday with the Packers two right.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
Yep, that's the schedule, all right.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
And I got a thing from Steve Campbell at the
Cults yesterday who was essentially saying, can you please please
publicize the traffic situation coming down to the stadium because
there's a lot of construction going on around the city
and he's just worried that people are going to get
there late. To make sure you plan for it, go early.

(02:25):
But I sixty five North between I four sixty five
on the south side and the I sixty five I
seventy interchange downtown is going to be closed on Saturday.
It's going to be closed. I sixty five South will
remain open. Fans traveling from the south can use a
detour I sixty five North to I four sixty five

(02:46):
West to I seventy East to downtown. To get around that,
you can go to I sixty five Safetyandefficiency dot Com.
So that's the most efficient address they could come up
with I sixty five Safetydefficiency dot Com to find out more.
But that's not all. West Street is going to be
reduced to one lane in each direction between Eleventh Street

(03:08):
and Morris Street on the sixteenth Saturday for road resurfacing.
Resurfacing operations generally are scheduled at night, but lane restrictions
remain in place during daytime hours, including before and following
the game. Capital Avenue will be partially closed in two
easternmost lanes from Maryland to South Street on August sixteenth.

(03:29):
Who planned all this on a game day?

Speaker 3 (03:32):
That sounds like a disaster, it does.

Speaker 4 (03:34):
I hope youy all wrote that down. That was a
lot plan.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yeah, and we'll put up a link later on today
at the fan website. I got this yesterday in the afternoon,
we'll put it up on I want to Sement fivethfan
dot com. But honestly, does anybody consult anybody on big
events happening downtown when you're gonna try to close everything
off at the same time, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Maybe they're trying to get it done before September seventh?
Is that in the thought process here? I suppose you'll
sacrifice a thirty five attended preseason game.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
If that, I have no idea. Maybe just leave on time,
do that back to back.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Games September seven, fourteenth, So yeah, I have no idea
on that.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
There's probably probably the situation above.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
My pay grade, but that sounds off.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
It's probably a situation where it was like the least
painful of all possible options. I don't know, but it
just doesn't sound like it works very well. In fact,
depending on where you're at in different parts of the
entire metro area. Right now, it's almost impossible to get
from zero point A to point B.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Because of the sweat bees or because of something else.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Yes, both the construction and the sweat beasts.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
I don't think I've ever I've lived here since twenty
twenty one, and I've never seen downtown without construction. So
when I hear that, I'm like, Okay, well that's har
for the course.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Oh everywhere by up and by it, Brownsburg is like,
I feel like every road is under construction, even getting
over here today. And Jones was shut down because there
was an oil spill, so it's like, well, got a
divert and go to I seventy Now, all.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Right, Well there's still lots of potholes in the downtown area.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
There are changing by sund Yeah. No, I dropped looking
down in this city more than anywhere else I've ever
lived or driven. Seriously, Hey, I still love Indiana.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
I saw actual publication a week ago, and I'll have
to go back and look up where it was claiming
that Indianapolis had the best roads of any city in America.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
And I heard everybody in Indiana wanted to fight that
person that wrote that articy.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
You've heard about the article too, right, Was.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
It in the Onion?

Speaker 5 (05:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (05:23):
No, I wish it was in the Onion. It wasn't though.
It was some study that some whack job did somewhere.
But I don't know. Maybe everybody complains about their roads everywhere.
Who knows. But we have football on tap a little
bit later on today up at Grant Park, and we'll
be looking forward to that fever off again today. But
we had a fight in the between the Sky and
the Sun or the yeah Mercury last night. Not the Suns,

(05:46):
but the Mercury. I missed that three ejections in that
one right there. So maybe it's summertime, James. Maybe they're
just getting chippy. Everybody's getting a little agitated right now.
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
It's today, a big day for Caitlin Clark. Does you
practiced today?

Speaker 1 (06:00):
We know anything?

Speaker 4 (06:02):
No, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
I literally know nothing. I'm asking the question.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
I don't even know when they update us on those anymore.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Well, they do have practice today and they will practice
I would assume a good amount here the next week
because it's one of their lighter stretches. They play tomorrow night,
they play Sunday, but they don't play Monday through Thursday
next week, which, considering how their schedule's gone over the
last few weeks, that's not a lot of games. And
that's good for Kaitlin Clark, you would think.

Speaker 6 (06:29):
So.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
I don't know. Scott Agnes join us at eight thirty
and we'll see if there's any Caitlin Clark update at all.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Anybody we know Scott would no major games for you
to cover last night? No practice. James, what did you
do with your evening off last night? Did you get
one or ju that's done up? Or writing a bunch
of stuff?

Speaker 6 (06:48):
Not?

Speaker 4 (06:48):
I didn't really write too much. Saw some friends that
I hadn't seen in a while, So that's good.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
That was good. How about you, KB.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Gosh boring family time right? Yeah? I mean nothing, nothing
too crazy. We hid Max's dinosaurs, played hide and Seek
in the yard with those and eight spaghetti and meatballs
and what do we watch? Shrek? Yeah? I mean it
was that was about it.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
It's a pasta menu at the Bowing Household, it's pretty deep.
You go, feta, chini alfredo, now, spaghetti and meatball.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Rosie and I we eat Rosie, And honestly, all quality
Rosie has of mine is her love for pasta. Honestly,
when you think about it, I mean, there are worse
things to love of Kevin Bowen.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Yeah, so I'm gonna say pasta is also very easy
to make.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
So I'm proud that she's my daughter.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Super easy.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Are you a Spaghettio's family?

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Uh, not too much. Spaghettio's they love, you know, easy Mac.
Easy Mac obviously is a very easy thing to make
and channels.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
It's in the name.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
So yeah, that's probably me. I was a loser. I
turned on a little USAM golf later Red's one Hunter
greens Back. I love it. By the way, you guys
see we're getting tea. J McConnell night over at the
Victory Field here in a couple of.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
Weeks saw that. I wonder if that does that mean
that you have to just get out of your car
and get in defensive stands?

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Well, I think it means if the Indians players really
want to replicate it, they slide into first base every
single time.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
Okay, all small ball, Okay, you're just.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Moving runners over as soon as you get a guy
on boom bunt, move them over.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
And is there is there a stolen base in there?
Because stolen base sing like these stolen inbounds.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Pass I would assume every out you're pumping up the crowd.
All twenty seven outs, you lean into a pick too,
you are pumping up the crowd. So yeah, a TJ
McConnell night coming up here in a few weeks at
Victory Field. They are on the road a lot here
in the month of August. But yes, you'll throw out
the first pitch. I want to say. It's a Wednesday.

Speaker 6 (08:37):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
Here in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
I've actually had people sending me emails going, hey, do
you have any more information on TJ McConnell Knight.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Is brisk the night that people are excited for? Well,
it was announced yesterday, so no, but I must be fresh.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
It had been circulating, oh uh for a few days.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
So yeah, that's that's going on round don the rowdy outfit.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Every once in a while, you're not supposed to help
people that. It sound like that's out of the back.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Now, you think NBA teams care about schedule at least
day like you think you think the pacers. Do you
think you're.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
Staying these emails? I want to Can you read one
of these emails?

Speaker 5 (09:09):
What?

Speaker 4 (09:09):
What have they said about TJ McConnell Knight.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
I get I could.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
I'm gonna have to go back and look at them.
I delete them after I read them. But don't you
keep all your emails?

Speaker 7 (09:17):
No?

Speaker 4 (09:17):
I mean that the email wasn't just came in and
when when we're when was the dude? When was the
emails were getting.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Planned in offices and some of the news gets outside.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
I just want to hear what they had to say
about TJ McConnell Knight.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
They just want to know what it is, what's going on.
I heard there's gonna be a TJ McConnell night. I said,
I don't know, I'll check into it, and then then
the announcement comes out. Okay, you doubt everything I say
all like, I just.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
Make stuffootball that I'm skeptical. I need I need to
see this cut your sources.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Yeah, with James on this one. It was announced yesterday afternoon.
I'm like, really, email about TJ McConnell.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
You think they just decided, hey, let's say do t
J McConnell night and announce it like ten minutes later.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
I want to know who.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
I just want to see the email, the excitement for
me to go back and find it somewhere. You want
to see this. People do care about TJ mcconoughy. That's
like that. Yeah, I've heard that. Do you know anything
about it? That's really essentially what it was? Okay, that's all
A couple of days ago.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
People disregarding my NBA schedule thought.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
No, I think here's the thing about the NBA schedule.
What what you know? When the NFL schedule comes out,
there's so a few games. I think people like to
plan there, you know, especially if their season ticket holders
or something like that, or their favorite team is coming
to town, or they want to see a particular game.
They get really excited about that. But the NBA, there's
so many games. You got forty one home games. You

(10:34):
already know you're not a Christmas Day game. You found
out when you're Opening night is going to be. What
are the big exciting moments about a schedule release for
an NBA team that you're most looking forward to see.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
I think there are some legit things that if I
were a member of the Pacers organization, I would be
keyed on for today. So we can get into that
a little bit later.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
Yeah, I think the craziest thing that I saw from
and this isn't about even about the Pacers, it's just
the fact that they have a game now now listed
between the Lakers and the Clippers at eleven pm Eastern
time start, and I want to say, that's the latest
game I've ever seen on an NBA schedule. I mean,
I've seen the ten thirty PM and that that always
gets me, but eleven is kind of crazy, but it is.

(11:14):
It looks like it's gonna be a lot of Prime games,
NBC games, you know peacock. You can stream those on
peacock as well, So yeah, I might get used to
just I'm used to football being like the one where
I have to float around with a bunch of diferent places,
and basketball feel like it's becoming that I've always liked.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
It, but I always just thought I was a nerd
in that regard, and I got more excited about them
that maybe other people.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
No, I actually think there is like legit outside of yeah,
I like to play and outside of you know, the
old coach speaker at forty one home games and forty
one road games. I think there are a couple of
legitimate things that if I were remember the Pacers organization,
I would be locked into today.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
Is that West Coast trip? How many Prime not?

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Yeah, I mean that stuff, yes, But I think there
are some specific things given the nature of this Spacer team,
we can get into it. But those are some items
that I think I'll be locked.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
In when is the Bucks game at Gamebirds. That's what
I want to know. That one's top of mind. I mean,
that's true, that's fair, That one's a given.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
I prefer that to be on a weekend night.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Okay, coming up in a minute, we will talk a
little bit more about what you would like to see,
what you want to see, what you expect to see
when it comes to that, when it comes to the
joint practices later on today, we've got a lot to do,
and then we're just looking forward to hanging out with
you for the next couple of hours right here at
ninety three five and one seven five the Fans.

Speaker 8 (12:35):
The Morning Checkdown on ninety three five and one oh
seven five the Fan.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Good Thursday morning. The Indianapolis Colts back on the field today.
They will be sharing that field at Grand Park James
Boyd with the green Bay Packers. But not a bunch
of star studded Packer players on that field today.

Speaker 4 (12:54):
It sounds like, no, they're extremely banged up. No Jordan
Love due to left thumb surgery. Either way, I'll be
out there to cover who is available to.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Precuree Kevin Bohen for the Colts. Who needs to have
big days or at least really solid days today?

Speaker 3 (13:08):
Ye, And I'll add to Xavier and McKinney, arguably their
best defensive player. For green Bay, they're down five of
their top six wideouts. So yeah, it's Jordan Love and
some others there. Obviously, quarterback goes without saying. And then again,
we've reached the midway point of August and I still
think a starting job at linebacker is left to be
earned and corner. So how does that play out here?

(13:30):
Evaluation points, We're nearing the end of it. This is
a big one. Saturday is a big one, and after
that you really only have one big one, and that
is Cincinnati a week from Saturday. In that final preseason game.
So those are some other things that I will be
looking for to today.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
A couple of moves Yesterday, d J Montgomery goes on
the season ending injured reserve list. What was that all
about this roster space or was there a real injury
going on there? I don't remember.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
For DJ Montgomery, there's always a real injury if you're
going to injury reserve.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
Yeah, Mark Haynes was picked up as a linebacker and
he is now with part of the Indianapolis Colts and
see where we go from there. Fever are off today.
They will play again at home tomorrow night, and I
guess Scott Agnes can to enjoy us today thirty. We'll
ask him whether or not Caitlin Clark is going to
be a part of this on court basketball team very soon,

(14:19):
because it's been a while. I think it's been eleven
games that she's missed now, James, is that correct.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
I'm not sure on the exact number of games, but yeah,
she's been out for quite a while. And still no
update at all on any on court basketball activities.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
All right, they will play the Mystic seven thirty on
Friday night at the Fieldhouse. You'll hear that one beginning
at seven to fifteen with a fan pregame show and
Eddie Garrison right there. There are a couple of pre
season games that will be played on Friday night as well,
before we get to the Packers on Saturday. And it's
just starting to trickle in now, a little game here,
little game there. Position battles everywhere, and it always is

(14:53):
interesting to see how much time some of these starters get.
I know, this past weekend, James, were you surprised that
the Angles gave a couple of good series to their
starting offense who just ripped it right down the field.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Not really. It's always part for the course of certain teams,
and for that team in particular. You just want to
see Joe Burrow and those guys do a little something
and can get him out of there.

Speaker 6 (15:13):
All right.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
As far as baseball is concerned, last night, the Cincinnati
red shut out the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of
eight to nothing. We had the Cardinals getting edged out
by the Colorado Rockies. The White Sox lost to Detroit,
won nothing. In Milwaukee won their twelfth game in a row,
which means free Hamburgers for everyone in Milwaukee. There's a
Hamburger company up there called the web company that's been

(15:35):
promising free Hamburgers. At one point back in the day,
that was like you had to win seventeen in a row,
and then later on in the fifties they revised it
to thirteen in a row. No one ever got that.
They brought it back and said if they ever went
twelve in a row, free Hamburgers. The last time they
did this happened one time with thirteen in a row.
I think they gave away like one hundred and seventy

(15:55):
thousand Hamburgers. Mark, Yeah, that's right up your ally.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
I like that they're lowering the state and well we
can't get to seventeen, let's lower to thirteen. And that
is Milwaukee through and through right there. Let's lower the standard.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
You have to buy insurance for something that like that,
right in case, that's what actually happens.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
As much as I would love to side with Mark
and be a hater in this scenario, they're so damn
good at baseball, I'm just jealous.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
It is really annoying. They're just like they're just sweeping everybody,
like twelve.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Mark, Yeah, Red's only game back with the wild card here,
we go.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Yeah, they're winning to baseball games. The Cubs called up
their top prospect, Mark Owen, Casi Kiss Cay Casey. Yeah,
there's a lot of vowels in there. I'll tell you after. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
Miguel Amaya, I my heart ripped out of my chest
yesterday watching that he has been battling back from an injury.
First game back, he took a wild spill off of
first base, sprained his ankle. He's going back on the
il just one game in.

Speaker 5 (16:51):
It is brutal.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
That's not good. Anything else you guys want to throw in.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
You're gonna live golf this weekend.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
I will probably not make it to live golf. Starting
to Kevin Boots on the ground, He's gonna personally follow Bryson.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
I was asked to hit the ceremonial first t shot
and sadly how to decline. Noon shotgun tomorrow eleven am Saturday,
ten am Sunday. There are some murmurs that this is
the biggest domestic event yet. We'll see how that plays out.
We need some Jason Jason Derulo, and I think we'll

(17:26):
get Bryson versus the sweat Bees on YouTube that seems
to be a great YouTube video for Bryson de Shamba.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
I know you're not a big fan, and we get
all that, and I understand the divisiveness, but there are
some really good golfers. If you're into golf and one watching.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Guys Kevin, very good golfers. I would also argue they
have chosen obscure nature to the rest of their professional careers.
When's the last time you've heard of the name of
Kevin Nah Cameron Smith.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
I know him, but I don't know how the general watched.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
How many live golf holes have you watched in your life?

Speaker 1 (17:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (17:58):
Zero, couldn't even tell you.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
What My point is if you had, if you out
a twelve or fourteen year old son or daughter that's
really into golf, I think it'd be terrific.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
I will denying that, but I'm saying that.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
I have morals is based on what Kevin is saying.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
They have chosen.

Speaker 4 (18:11):
Honestly, he has morals, they have millions the Uh, which
one do you prefer?

Speaker 1 (18:16):
I just think the.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Competition is so blocked, but sounds like they're gonna be
a chaddam next year. Sounds like the Hanky's got some
big plans up their sleeves. Maybe a little plainfield action
in the future here, so they're not messing around.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
I will say this, if you've never had an opportunity
to go to a professional golf event, one of the
I still think one of the coolest things to do
is just go watch these guys hit golf balls at
the rains up on the range. It sounds different, it
looks different. They will be. They'll be hitting irons to
like one hundred and sixty five yards and you look
up at the at the fairway that that is the

(18:48):
driving range, and you just see this cluster of golf
balls within like ten feet of the way.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
That's where the concert venue is. So Mark will get
Jason Derulo other side, if you know shank one a
little bit right, which know, these guys are so skilled
they won't do that all of a sudden. You could
be the other side could have a whole different verse
to it, right. Riley Green, are you familiar with Riley Green?

Speaker 5 (19:11):
Know?

Speaker 3 (19:12):
I know I'm not the musical grow No, I'm just
I'm here.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
I'm here to report about a Green.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
John Robbins over at IM A couple guys at the
Fever game the other night.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
I kind I kind of want Max Bowen to pull
like an nWo thing and like reveal that he's a
live golf fane shirt open.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
I will say that golf. If Max Bowen pulls that off,
you know what somehow he makes on live one day.
Mom and Dad are set for life. Morals are millions
or set for life?

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Always millions. I will say, I have to give Jeff
his credit. He showed me the email.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
I gave you the receipts with the.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
T J McConnell email last Thursday.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Pulled the receipts.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Respect. You think has to make stuff up over were
you told us he went to Game six?

Speaker 3 (20:04):
No, I did not.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
I said I was down here.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
Mark pulled the tape.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
He said I was down.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
He said it was the greatest invirone he had been in.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
No, I was talking about outside.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
I went, I came down.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
If you listen, please do pull the receipts. It was
about going out into Georgia Street after the game.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
We were talking about being there and you asked me.
You said, I said I was down here and I
pointed to the desk.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
The Fan Morning Show live detector test. We need to
make half.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
Yes, we go. I'm good with it.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
No, he pulled the receipts. Jeff is right.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
I'm wrong.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
I admit this.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
Oh wow, I actually got a ding Tony there. You
got about that? I feel good, Kevin, We're good now, man. Uh,
do you guys want to listen to a little bit
more of Rick Carlisle? If people missed it yesterday, I
thought it was a very relaxed, kind of very broad end.
You guys did a great job yesterday. I had the
breaks definitely for sure. All right, we'll do some of
that and we've got a big morning for you ahead
as we get ready for the colts and packers and

(20:57):
joint practice a little bit later on. Today is gonna
be up there. Mark, you're gonna go, just for spite
or not.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
I told Shane Steichen that that the messages out. You
need a motivational speech. Let me out there. Let me
get out there with the boys. We'll break it down.
The packers won't gain the yard.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
All right, we'll continue the nonsense next right here on
ninety and there go. Mark, you're already ready to go, right,
got your microphone stand fixed today and everything. I gotta
love that myself.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
I had to take matters in my own hands. I
was rigging this thing myself.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
We didn't they come back and permanently fix it later.

Speaker 4 (21:37):
I know I did it. I think if you want
me me, I did it. I love me some meat.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
I think if you won with my top five Spotify
for the year non kid division, I think this song
would probably crack it.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Really.

Speaker 4 (21:50):
That is a great song, a little little.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Shaboozy good news.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
I like it.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
Thank you, Mark Darkton, thank you. I don't know why,
but thank you and write the song. I just played it.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
You know what a man never humble. That is what
I've learned from Mark Dyketon the fan text line is
open too. At two three nine ten seventy, we were
talking about that article Mark where someone do you remember
what the publication was, because I think you saw it too.
Someone had said that Indianapolis had the best roads in America.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
No, I saw it like secondhand on like barstool Indie
or something like that, and they were like, what in
the hell is this person talking about?

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Uh? Three one seven five six said that Jeff I
was in a doctor's office when I read that. I
blurted out laughing. Hell No, Brian says that I put
his name at the end there.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Brian, Yeah, I've seen nothing but potholes and everything like that. No,
I mean, especially come wintertime. I mean, Indiana roads are
my worst enemy because I'm like, no one's plowed these things.
What's happening when the snow just falls and falls you
can't see lanes? I'm like, what are we doing here?
But it's been like that ever since I moved here.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
It's it's more for me what happens once the snow
is gone and the craters that remain is the biggest problem.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
But not good.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
A minute ago, we were talking about a great conversation
had yesterday with the head coach of the Indianapolis or
the Indiana Pacers, Rick Carlisle, and stops by I caught myself,
come on, that's we've been talking about Indianapolis cults all day.
And anyway, Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle was was with
the guys yesterday and they had a great conversation, and

(23:22):
of course the conversation the conversation turned to the departure
of Miles Turner. I thought that coach took the high road,
but also gave us a pretty pretty good answer about
how things went down.

Speaker 7 (23:32):
I was I was surprised. I was surprised, but it's
pretty clear what happened. You know, Milwaukee found a way
to come up with enough cap space in a very
short period of time. It's my guess that they did
all this, you know, they did it by waving Lillard
and stretching him and all that kind of stuff created

(23:55):
whatever it was, twenty some million extra in space. And
I think what I think what happened was, you know,
they they talked to Miles of the agent or Miles
and his agent, and said, look, we have this offer.
This is a number, you know, presumably a number that
you guys are trying to get to. We need to

(24:17):
know that if we offer this, you guys are going
to take it and you can't shop it, you know.
And that's that's a that's a frequent you know, a
tactic of negotiation. And so pretty clearly they they took
they took the offer. It's they're right to do it.
We'll certainly miss Miles. I know that there were a

(24:41):
lot of there was a lot of talk about you know,
some of the some of the things that he said
as he left, But I just I just feel, look,
we're going to give miles the benefit of the doubt
on all that stuff. The guy is the guy was
a was a pacer through and through for ten years.
He lived and breathed that he disregarded trade rumors. You

(25:05):
know when they when they happened, he was all about.
He was all about in the end all the time.
Sometimes things in the business aspect of basketball become super
dynamic and nuclear and they happen on a you know,
on they turn on a dime. But you know, everything

(25:28):
that Kevin Pritchard said is absolutely true. This this this
franchise was was ready to go as far to the
tax as we needed to keep him. But you know,
things can change quickly. They did. He's moved on. It's
a division rival, so there's always gonna be plenty to

(25:49):
talk about there. But Kevin and Chad were able to
acquire Jay Huff, who's certainly not the experienced level mouse turner,
is not the exact same kind player, but he can
make threes, and he can protect and protect the rim,
and he can do some other things that are strengths
of his and so we feel like he's a piece

(26:09):
that can that can work for us. We don't know
exactly who's going to start at five. But I've had
seasons where I've had three centers and pretty much consistently
played three centers every game. It was. He was two
thousand and thirteen fourteen with the Dallas Mavericks. Sam Dallenbar

(26:30):
was our starter, Dwan Blair and Brandon Wright played back up,
and there were way more games many There were way
more games than there weren't where all three of those
guys played. And so, you know, maybe the center position
is more of a Swiss army knife type thing. We'll

(26:51):
have to see. But we have we have Huff, we
have Isaiah Jackson, we have Wiseman. Tony Bradley's going to
be in camp. So there's four guys that are going
to be slugging it out for the you know, presumably
three center spots. So as we get into it, we'll
see what's what. But you know, nothing but love from
from my perspective. From on Miles Turner.

Speaker 6 (27:13):
I had a really.

Speaker 7 (27:14):
Nice, nice conversation with him after, you know, after he
made the decision to leave, and what a lovable guy.
So we'll miss him.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
I was a head coach of the Indiana Pacers with
Carlisle talking about the departure of Miles Turner and where
the team goes from here. It's going to be a
really interesting first couple of weeks for the Pacers, with
a brand new five spot being rotated in guys coming
and going. Obviously that new starting line for Tyres being out.
At this point in time, I still don't think it's

(27:48):
going to be a complete disaster. I'm a little more
bullish on the Pacer. I don't think they're going back
to the Eastern Conference Finals, but I think they'll be
a really competitive basketball team.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
Kevin, you know we talked to earlier in the show. Okay,
schedule comes out today, What do you care about? If anything?
And again the old coaching ro it's forty one home
forty one. Why just show me the schedule? Obviously, from
an entertainment standpoint, what the reaction is going to be. Yes,
the Miles Turner return game will be one that I
will certainly be looking forward to. But I think it

(28:17):
is vitally important for this year's version of the Pacers
to have this schedule be as backloaded as possible with
good teams. And I say that for two reasons. One,
we have seen in the NBA, and we saw last
year the Pacers at times were one of those teams,
not very often, but at times late in the season February, March,

(28:39):
particularly April, you're going to rest guys if you are
in a good playoff sort of position. Cleveland last year,
the Pacers played them twice in the last couple weeks
of the season in Cleveland played nobody in those games.
So I think, if you're the Pacers, and that is
probably true of every team, you want to have more
of a backloaded schedule. But I also think for this

(29:00):
of the Pacers, where you are putting guys into very
new roles, and yes, center is one spot, but you're
asking a whole lot more of Andrew Nemhart as an
eighty two night point guard. You're asking a whole lot
more of Benedict Mathern to now slide into the starting lineup.
You're probably gonna need more scoring punch from a guy
like Aaron E. Smith night in and night out, whatever

(29:20):
that second unit is. You know, we asked Rick about
guys like Jars Walker, and he brought up Johnny Furfey
as well, So there could be some early season kind
of growing pain. So all of these guys into different roles,
and I think they could be a team that will
be playing better basketball come twenty twenty six. So for
those two reasons, for me, I think when you see

(29:42):
the schedule come out today, you want to see it
as backloaded as possible, a with quality opponents that maybe
you catch on some rest. And then b I think
the Pacer team you see late in this season will
look a little different than what you see here October
November to.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
Piggyback off of that, and I do think this team
is gonna struggle considerably to kind of figure out who
their identity and what their identity is without Terry's Halliburton,
because he's a top fifteen player. And I think sometimes,
you know, because of the fight we saw from this
team and the grid and its nastity and the never
say die attitude, we overlook the fact that they still

(30:20):
will be without a top fifteen player. And so that's
to me as a significant loss. And even when I
hear Rick tell us all other teams are inspired by us,
or you hear some of these shows talk about how
the Pacers have, you know, kind of giving you a
new blueprint of how to win. Do you have another
Tyrese Haliburton somewhere, does anybody, No, they do not. So

(30:40):
I'm very curious to see how Andrew nim Hard in
particular handles the bigger role that he'll have and the
way they respond because to me, and I'll see it
nice and early, I think the ceiling for this team
without Halliburton is to win perhaps one round in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
Like, I don't see them advancing past that. Feel free
to you know, clip this if you're listening as a
pacer fan or a PACER's player. Perhaps he uses bulletin
war material, but I just can't see you losing the
top fifteen player and still going deep in the playoffs.
That to me is just not gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
Can you imagine a pacer player up it's seven to
forty three in the morning listening to this.

Speaker 4 (31:12):
Is I'm just picturing is that ready to go?

Speaker 8 (31:15):
Job?

Speaker 4 (31:16):
I'm gonna say, picture McConnell, like you know, in the
gym right now, sweating and he's like all these games.

Speaker 8 (31:23):
On it.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
But I do think they'll be a very entertaining team,
and he's still a good team. Is just that in
certain spots when it comes to one running your offense
first and foremost two closing games, because we saw when
Tyre's isn't in there the clothes man, it can get
a little clunky sometimes.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
No, I mean I was nod in my head throughout that, James.
I think there will be multiple times this season that
I will probably come in here at seven am the
next morning after a Pacer game and say, wow, we
are reminded of how great of a player Tyres Haliburton is.
And like I think, statistically you can probably just look
at that on paper, but watching this team and the

(31:58):
flow offensively and the freedom and the just how well
he sets guys up. Not having that now defensively, maybe
you're better. Maybe you're more of kind of a rugged team.
Maybe you're more of a throwback team. Maybe you're playing games,
you know, a little bit more hub around one hundred
instead of the race for one hundred and twenty one
hundred and thirty. We have seen a few games announced
by the way this seemingly has been a home game.

(32:20):
I feel like every year for the Pacers they will
have that Friday night of Thanksgiving week that will be
a home game that often is coupled with the old
tree lighting right here below us on the circle. So
that will be actually one of their in season group
play games, Commissioner's Cup against the Wizards. So that was
announced yesterday. So right now we know again Pacers Thunder

(32:42):
Thursday night, the twenty third of October, that will be
the opener, and then they did announce their group play
games and the rest of the schedule will be announced
later today.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
I'm looking forward to the race a little bit later on.
I suppose it'll come. I don't know a little bit
after the scrimmage for the Packers and Colts today. I
guess not some scrimmage, but joint practice.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
I got no idea. Yeah, on the time, I don't
know what the time they do something on NBA TV,
I got nothing.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
My attention.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
I think it probably early early after there. We'll find
out more about that and let you know when that
will happen. But we'll talk about it as we go along.
Talking about the NBA too, I saw something that crossed
the wires late last night that we saw a sale.
The Boston Celtics are going to be sold. Did you
see this, James? You see the number involved, six point

(33:32):
one billion dollars, six point one billion dollars. When is
the right time to sell your franchise? They keep going
up in value and value. You just keep it and
sit on it, or you just turn it into cash
one day. Six point one billion dollars.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
Must be nice. I don't think I could buy anything
for six dollars right now, so six point whatever billion
is crazy. I did see that the NFL, according to
will Sportice, put out their list of along the lines
of valuations Jeff evaluations for NFL franchises, and the Colts
are the twenty eighth most valuable franchise at five point

(34:09):
seven two billion. They dropped the spot from last year's rankings.
The Cincinnati Bengals, by the way, who are known as
being cheap skates, are last in these rankings. But also,
could you imagine being last in anything worth five point
five billion dollars? The NFL is doing well, you all,
And then the number one team, obviously Dallas Cowboys worse

(34:30):
twelve point eight billion.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Why did caboose on that train every single day five
point five billion to be last year?

Speaker 1 (34:36):
Man?

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Why do you think we've gotten so much parody in
the NBA in the last few years?

Speaker 4 (34:42):
The new CBA.

Speaker 1 (34:43):
Yeah, because you can't just load up a team with
star after star after star after star and keep it.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
I mean it goes back. The stat was seven different
champions in the last seven years. I was listening to
Tim Bontemps Brian Woodhorse from ESPN. They were chatting about this.
Not only have we had seven different champions in the
last seven years, but if you look at the finals
matchup the fourteen teams over the last seven years, eleven

(35:07):
of them have been different. They also threw out a
stat where the defending champ has not made it. I
think it's out of the second round in six of
the last seven years, so you haven't even gotten like
a two year run. I mean, can you imagine if
the thunderbout out that early this coming year, like they

(35:28):
are the odds on favorite heavily. It's it's yeah, I
mean the new CBA. But guys, I mean it was
the new CBA in tax seven years ago. Here's kind
of wild, how far back.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
Here's a couple of answers I can give you, some
of them not as serious as others. One Lebron got
old no because there was a I think there was
there was a there was a stretch there where if.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
He was, and then before that it was literally COPD
I mean Lebron played, and so.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
That's what it felt like. And then I do think
the gap between great players and very good players has
kind of shrunk a bit because there's so many talented
guys in the league now, Like, for example, you look
at the Pacers roster, they don't have a ton of
great players. In my opinion, the great ones are Halliburdon
and Siaka and then the rest of them are just

(36:11):
very very good. But they have a bunch of those guys,
and so you're not seeing a lot of those top
heavy teams anymore. And it feels like the recipe to
win if you aren't you know, peak prime Lebron James
or Kobe Bryant or somebody like that, is to have
a better supporting cast around them. So maybe you have
two stars and then you have you know, your six
through eight players are much better, you know, uh than

(36:34):
what they used to be in the past. And also
skill in shooting. I think shooting changes a lot, Like
every team can shoot now. I go back and watch
like the even I think it's I think it not
necessarily maybe not variants, but what's the world I'm looking for.
It creates more of a competitive balance, Like you're not
able to blow teams out like you used to. I mean,
twenty point leaders aren't what they used to be. And
it's not just the Pacers doing this. Teams come back now.

(36:56):
And so I think that adds to what we've seen
as far as a parody, because you look at like
the twenty ten finals with the Boston Celticas and the Lakers,
you have like two other guys on the court that
can't shoot at all. That does not happen anymore. Like
if you play the Pacers, especially this last version that
we had with healthy Halliburton, and there was a player
on the other team that couldn't shoot, you were going

(37:16):
to get crushed because the Pacers are gonna make him
have to do something on offense, and they're going to
expose you on defense. And so it is a much
more tactical league and a much more skilled league in
my opinion.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
You've thrown a couple of injuries here and there too.
I remember a couple of years ago Golden State was
playing well. All of a sudden Steph had that ankle problem.
And then you see the Celtics last year. This past season,
obviously they were really hit hard by the injury bug.
Maybe that has something. So maybe it's just a combination
of a lot of things in the years. I mean,
if it's one of those, I think a lot of
what he started with with Lebron too, because during his

(37:49):
com not kidding, every year, whoever team Lebron was on,
they're going to the finals.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
Well I think there was literally a run I forget
you went to age straight twelve straight years where it
was either literally Kobe or Lebron in the finals. So yeah,
I mean we have gotten you know, hell, if you
want to go way back, you know, bird Magic probably
had that feel in the eighties. Obviously, Michael speaks for itself,
you know, Shack. So it's just interesting because I don't
think like I love the NFL, and a huge reason

(38:16):
why is I think it has great parody. It does,
but right now you you might look at the NBA
and say, from a final standpoint, it's got more parody
than Mahomes and the Chiefs playing in the Super Bowl
every year. Yeah, I think one to thirty two, the
NFL's got more parody in it.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
And that's true.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
There's the old stat of you know, four new playoff
teams every year in the NFL, et cetera, et cetera.
But it's just kind of wild that I think the
NBA largerly, well it's the same teams every year, or
like you know, I you know who's going to be
in the finals. It's like, well, that's not really true anymore.

Speaker 4 (38:50):
Yeah, Lebron's stuff got old because those guys are in
there every single year.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
It's uh, it's crazy. I look at I'm trying to
look up some odds right now, early odds on who
will win the NBA Championship and just to make the
NBA finals. Right now, it's Oklahoma City at plus two thirty.
It's Cleveland at plus seven fifty, the Knicks at plus
eight hundred, the Rockets at plus eight fifty, Nuggets at
plus eight fifty. So really, yeah, Oklahoma City's got the

(39:18):
best odds in the Western Conference or even in the
Eastern Conference of getting back to the finals.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
But that's a lot of teams that they kind of
like massive. I mean when the last time, I mean, say,
say the first two plus.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
Two point thirty and then plus seven to fifty.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
For those that don't pay attention, to gambling. That is
an insane gap between one and two on.

Speaker 4 (39:37):
That's what happens when you're three. People are kind very young.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
But to bring it full circle, people are kind of
expecting this young version of Stars with the Oklahoma City
Thunder to be arounded together for a few years now.
Too true.

Speaker 4 (39:48):
I do have a cold question that we can get
into after the break. It regards wide receivers, and I'm
curious and I need answers from all of you.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
Mark's got answers, don't you more sure? He answer to
every question is what Mark?

Speaker 3 (40:04):
That's right by the way, Shout out to Kenny. It's
usually yeah, it's shout out to Kenny. We were talking
a little bit about fantasy football yesterday. We're gonna have
a show league here. We're gonna give it. Do we
officially give away one spot yesterday?

Speaker 4 (40:16):
Mark Ross, he's in the hopper.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
Shout out to Ross. Kenny chimed in. We were talking
about I got, you know, a little poke fun at that.
I said, BW threes, you know instead Buffalo Wild Wings,
and we're talking about drafts. Kenny said that a couple
of years ago he drank twelve tall Miller lights at
BW three's in an hour and a half. What during

(40:39):
his team's fantasy football draft. He then went on to
win the league.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
I thought he was gonna draft like seventeen wide.

Speaker 4 (40:46):
I was gonna say, does he remember winning the league?
Does you remember drafting his team that night?

Speaker 3 (40:53):
I think I needed thirty for thirty on this tall
Miller lights in ninety minutes, and then you're going to
win the league? What does that say about your eleven
friends in the league?

Speaker 1 (41:02):
You sure he really had eleven friends by the time
he had his tenth beer.

Speaker 4 (41:06):
Probably had thirty three, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (41:08):
And just seeing double tripple over.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
There, your stomach pumped and he won the league. That's
a good night we can out there.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
kJ from Brownsburg wants to know how many consecutive years
did Bill Russell get to the finals? Player and coach?
That was a bunch.

Speaker 4 (41:22):
That's a good basketable, Scott. I mean, yeah, a lot
of a lot of the times they brought Lebron they
would bring up that they hadn't been done. Basically, like
since the modern era, the NBA has got parody. I
like it seriously, especially this year. I like it so
all right coming up in a month.

Speaker 1 (41:37):
We'll talk more about the Colts and Packers later on
this afternoon schedule release day for the NBA, and more
about the Pacers there and some of your comments is
We continue next on ninety three five and one seven.
Good Thursday morning, too. You welcome into another terrific morning
of talking about sports, the Colts and the Packers joint
practice later on this afternoon NBA schedule release day. We

(41:59):
do know already that the Pacers will be hosting Oklahoma
City Thunder on the twenty third of October. We found
that out yesterday, and now we've gotten a couple of
other dates leaked out here. And I guess the big one,
JB is people are waiting to see when maybe Miles
Turner is coming back to town, right, Yes, And I
saw this debate going on.

Speaker 4 (42:18):
It goes our YouTube chatter through the text line yesterday,
will Miles Turner get booed? Yes, this isn't even a
debate to me, He's gonna get booed absolutely.

Speaker 1 (42:27):
Right out of the date. You think, right like when
they when they introduce him, You think people are gonna
give him the business?

Speaker 4 (42:32):
Yes, I definitely think they will. I think some Pacers
fans are Indiana sports fans that they're a little classier
than they actually are. Y'all know, y'all petty just like me.
And once Miles made those comments, I mean it was
scorts shirt after that. And I'm not saying he should
get booed, but in the essence of pettiness, yes, he
is going to get booed. Absolutely. I would bet a
large amount of money on this.

Speaker 1 (42:52):
What if they announce it's not every penny I own?

Speaker 4 (42:55):
Yeah, I don't think because my only question is will
he get booed doing his video like recap of his career,
which I'm not sure if that will happen. But as
soon as the game starts he touched the basketball. Oh yes,
he's getting booed.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
Ruiously real cook Before we move on some house keeping,
Scotty Jay coming through again and he's sent a text
to us. Bill Russell played in the NBA finals in
ten straight seasons, won championships in eight straight seasons? Did he, Scotty?
Can you check? Did he also right after he got
done playing on that streak? Did he also coach an

(43:29):
NBA finals or too? I know he's a player coach
for a while. Maybe that's all inclusive there from Scotty.

Speaker 4 (43:34):
It do more work, Scotty look that up too.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
Well, he already probably already knows off the top two.

Speaker 4 (43:38):
Yeah, I believe Bill Russell was the first black head
coach to win the championship in the NBA, So that
would make sense that he also that that overlaps with
his time of winn championship as a player.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
Yeah. I think they won eleven overall. Something crazy like that. Yeah,
Russell won eleven championships overall. It's not a not a
bad career. You could you could do better than that, right, No, not.

Speaker 4 (43:59):
Bad at all.

Speaker 3 (44:00):
James, you said you have a Colt sweat receiver question.

Speaker 4 (44:02):
Yes I do. And this was sparked by on the
YouTube chests to the focus debating the value of the Colts' receivers.

Speaker 3 (44:08):
By the way, did we just get a nude text message?

Speaker 1 (44:11):
We did partially?

Speaker 4 (44:12):
Yeah, And where was this located at?

Speaker 3 (44:15):
Man?

Speaker 4 (44:16):
This was not the YouTube chat this.

Speaker 1 (44:17):
Was Yeah, somebody else can publicly see it.

Speaker 3 (44:22):
So that means I've seen it.

Speaker 4 (44:23):
My eyes are scarred forever.

Speaker 3 (44:25):
Yeah, so have my good number? Are we are we
saving it?

Speaker 1 (44:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (44:29):
I think we should. Every Cults victory. You know what
and the message picture you know it was to Jeff
in particular, what does we were not supposed to see this?
The text line, Oh no they they in.

Speaker 3 (44:44):
Your old friend pick for Jeff chat. Wow, man, James.

Speaker 4 (44:51):
You guys some explaining to this a while, you know,
Jeff figures out how to you know, apologize profusely. The
question I do have seriousness is about the Culture's wide
receiver corps. Who will be the most productive wide receiver
for this team this year? I feel like that's a
very serious statement. I'm not told you my answer. You
already know mine. Welly, I need a serious answer to me?

Speaker 1 (45:14):
Is a serious answer?

Speaker 3 (45:15):
How do you define it? Catches yard, touchdowns?

Speaker 4 (45:17):
I would say a combination of all three, you know,
but but most productive. I mean, I guess the most impactful.
Who will be the most impactful Cults wide receiver this season?
Meaning when we look up at the end of the year,
we'll say that was that guy was was the top
receiver on this team.

Speaker 3 (45:32):
It's a great question. I think you can make strong
cases for several of them. Gosh, I just think the
big playability is still such a coveted aspect to it.
I'll go Pierce you know, Downs is one I thought about.
Just the ability to continue to move the chains and

(45:56):
make plays on third down and the slot wide out
I think is just such a critical element to your team. Yeah,
but I think you can make really good cases for
several of them. You know, part of me with Pierce
is a little hesitant, just because if it's Daniel Jones,
does Pierce really impact? You know? Like, for example, one
thing I want to see Saturday is Daniel Jones uncork

(46:16):
a few James In the spring. Jones chucked a few
up to Pierce and he made great plays typical al
Pierce plays down the field. We've yet to really see
him attempt much, if any of that in camp, So
that would be something I would want to see. Do
you have a convincing answer. I have no convincing answer.

(46:38):
I guess Pierce would be the one, But do you
have one that's higher than the rest?

Speaker 4 (46:45):
Oh Man, I do wonder about a guy like Josh Downs.
I think he caught the most footballs last year for
the team. I'm not mistaken. So could he be the one?
Because he's in that tweener spot, the slot position.

Speaker 3 (46:58):
He's just like death by a thousand papers, soccers.

Speaker 4 (47:01):
Yeah, and I wonder if that's a little bit more
reliable than Piers. Not Saint Pierce isn't a good player
and can't do the same or have that same sort
of impact that he had last year. But I feel
like it's more boom or bust with some of those
downfield throws, and you know how it goes like the
balls are just not completed at the same rate as
the over the middle, you know, tweener passes. And so

(47:21):
I think that Josh Downs might be my pick, although
I feel like I might be disrespecting mychaququipment junior, but
I haven't seen enough from in camp, you know, And
maybe that's just because it's camp and he's not really
a camp player. But I do wonder if we've sort
a plateau with Pittman and can't he still be the
quote unquote number one receiver for this team. He's a

(47:43):
number one receiver in my opinion, as far as like
the tiers of receivers in the league before this team,
I do wonder if that number one spot is up
for grabs.

Speaker 1 (47:51):
One thing I do like, though, when you are down
in the in the red zone and particularly inside the
ten yard line, and maybe you need you go for
the third or fourth down and you got four or
five six yards to go. I like the idea of
having big, physical receivers like Pittman and now Warren to
give the defense something to deal with.

Speaker 4 (48:11):
Yeah, but the crazy part about Pittman is that he
doesn't score a lot of touchdowns. He I mean, I
want to say the most touchdowns he's had in a
season in his career six.

Speaker 1 (48:19):
Does he draw a lot of a lot of attention
down in.

Speaker 4 (48:22):
That area though, Well, that's why I'm saying, you know,
as far as the production of the top guy, like
you mean, all those guys draw a lot of attention,
they still find way to score. So that's mine. I
don't know, I'm very it can go either way. Catches,
you know, eighty Mitchell eighty of them, uh you know,

(48:44):
for hopefully more than than seven hundred and fifty yards
and uh we'll see though, because I could go if
if Alec Pierce has as a breakout year and he's
more than just a guy who runs go routes, If
he is he somebody who gets open over the middle
that can help you to move the chain. So all
I'm saying is I guess the roundabout way of me
putting this out there is saying that I'm not sure

(49:04):
that Pittman is going to be the undisputed number one
receiver on this team this year and for the foreseeable future.
And keep in mind he's also not gonna have any
guaranteed money after this year, So what does that mean
for his future if he isn't the number one guy?

Speaker 3 (49:16):
Oh, if you just want to live in the president
of this season, and I guess you were kind of
getting at this, like how do the Colts make the
playoffs this season? Internally they would say and hope that, Hey,
we think our quarterback play is going to be better,
and we also think our defense is going to take
a step up. Like those two I think are And honestly,

(49:39):
those two probably resonate the most with fans.

Speaker 5 (49:42):
Now.

Speaker 3 (49:42):
Quarterback play I think is more of the question mark
of those two, Like, yeah, is quarterback played really going
to be better? We'll see. Defensively, I can understand why
there is some legit reasons behind that unit being better,
whether you believe in the system change of lou Anarimo
from Gus Bradley, and or you believe even the personnel
particularly at corner in safety, which Savarious Ward and cam

(50:04):
bine them. But I also think the lesser of the
how do we get better from twenty twenty four is
what you just laid out there. James, their pass catching
group again, Downs and Peers are more of the Givens.
They're reliable, they're consistent in their roles. They were actually
good last season in a year where you didn't have

(50:26):
a lot of kind of like individual standouts. But what
if Ady Mitchell takes a growth in year two? Obviously
the rival of Tyler Warren is the newest body within
that pass catching group. And then lastly, Michael Pittman Junior's
health from being not playing through a back that looks
like me last year. So if that aspect, like again,

(50:48):
if there's three aspects quarterback play getting better, that's one,
defense getting better that's two, and three is pass catching.
If you get two of those three, obviously quarterback play
would greatly YEA. But if you cross off quarterback, if
you're skeptical of that, if your defense can improve and

(51:08):
if your past catching can improve, then on paper, this
can be off team Because what are the areas I
guess that you would say the reverse on what are
the areas that you're skeptical of, What are the areas
that you think will take a step back to me.
I've got one that I have in question, But are
there any of you because I think those are three

(51:30):
that again, and I don't know, can your quarterback play
get any worse? I'd argue, you know, so I don't
put that.

Speaker 4 (51:36):
I never want to say that on that.

Speaker 3 (51:39):
By the way, I saw Chad Kelly's lighting it up
in the CFL. Can we get swag Kelly back here?

Speaker 4 (51:44):
And I say, I'll say this because you remember that
that Miami Dolphins game last year. They probably thought it
couldn't get any worse. Any got worse very quickly.

Speaker 3 (51:52):
And also I had a listener reach out to me
saying that son and daughter were on a bike ride.
I won't give the exact coordinates, but you know, in
the general area, and they almost hit Daniel Jones walking
on the street. Can you imagine is that the only
thing missing from our quarterback drama here in Indianapolis? Daniel

(52:13):
Jones goes down because six year old innocent girl runs
into the back of his leg.

Speaker 4 (52:18):
I'm gonna I'm definitely okay, So all right now, you know,
I'm an equal opportunity hater. What kind of driving lessons
I'd ease on his bike?

Speaker 1 (52:26):
Now that's a six year old.

Speaker 4 (52:28):
I mean, Daniel Jones is a very large human being.
He's a very big person to be running into the back.

Speaker 3 (52:32):
Of Maybe the six year old had Anthony Richardson in
the old quarterback pool and wanted to make sure that
Harlay anything that takes a step back, I think you're
just generally skeptical.

Speaker 4 (52:46):
I'm skeptical of the kicker. I think that's kind of
been underrated. I am skeptical there for sure. I know
Matt Gay has had his struggles last year, but he
didn't miss inside fifty and this guy hasn't kicked outside
of fifty. So we'll see what happens with especially Trader
and kickers are just finicky like that. You know, one
year you're good, the next year, not that happens sometimes.

(53:06):
So that's one area. I think an area they could
also take a step back in is certainly at trying
to be I don't know if it's a step back.
I don't know if they'll improve at linebacker. I think
linebacker they struggled a lot last year in coverage.

Speaker 3 (53:23):
Ye.

Speaker 4 (53:25):
Yeah, so that's that's when I can definitely like probably
that's probably a wash to me.

Speaker 3 (53:30):
It's offensive line.

Speaker 4 (53:31):
Yeah, And I was gonna go to the offensive line
because there's questions there. I mean, like, I want to
give credit to Tony's Ferano what he's done with that group,
because the guys that they have played or tried to
develop through have gotten better. The younger guys. I mean,
I have to give credit. Will Fries went from a
seventh round pick to being a guy who got eighty
plus million dollars on the open market this past season.

(53:52):
But do I really think that Bordolini and Meganzalvez are
both gonna be good in solid all season? I'm not
so sure about that.

Speaker 3 (54:04):
Well, and what happens if either of those tackles go down?

Speaker 1 (54:07):
Yeah, that's exactly problem.

Speaker 3 (54:08):
You know, last year we've seen them. So I think
that's the one where, like to me, kick her, I
can I can hear you out on but offensive line.
It's like last year I didn't think the offensive line
was a problem, and yet you still didn't make the playoffs. Right,
what if the offensive line becomes you already have issues
at quarterback? Right, you can't afford inconsistency in the group

(54:29):
that's protecting them, So if they have some hiccups, that
would be the one that I think you're a little
nervy about defense.

Speaker 1 (54:37):
Defensive line. I think I think we'd all guess that
the secondary is going to be better with the additions
they've made, right, Yeah, definitely that's going to be good.
We have questions about linebacker, and I think a lot
of it comes down to if he can start to
provide pressure off the edge, that that makes a pretty
stout interior of that defensive line even better.

Speaker 4 (54:59):
I think that that's a big key to what they do. Yeah,
LAOT two I think is due for a big year
and it's poised for a big year, And if he
doesn't make that jump, that'll be another mark against Chris Baler, honestly.
But when you draft the guy and you say, hey,
we got the best edge rusher in the draft, and
that was the clean version. We got the best bleeping
edge rusher in the draft, then he needs to show up.

(55:21):
And also with the departure of Dialo Dangbo, there's plenty
of snaps to go around for a guy like LAA
two because Dio I believe played the most snaps of
any defensive lineman the Colts had last year. So without
him in the mix, Latuo, here's your chance to, you know,
be a game changer, be a game wrecker. And we've
seen I think some flashes throughout training camp Kevin, but

(55:43):
as always, just like this with running backs. It's honestly
like this when I evaluate Anthony Richardson and probably Daniel
Jones to a degree, because they're both built a quarterbacks,
it's hard to give the full scope of what they
will do in these settings because the physicality isn't there,
the run element isn't there. And obviously Laotuo's came you
can't hit the quarterback because there's been plenty of times
where like Daniel Jones and Andy Richson have completed the pass.

(56:07):
But we all looked at each other afterwards it was
like he would have got sacked two seconds ago by
a and he just couldn't hit him. And so what
does that mean? And obviously last year he was close
to a couple of sacks, but clos doesn't count in
this league. What does it mean to get him on
the ground. I'm curious info on what happened to Daniel Jones.
Was he like just standing on a bike path? How
did he almost get No? I think he's.

Speaker 3 (56:24):
Walking on the sidewalk with potentially someone of the opposite.

Speaker 1 (56:27):
Sex potentially, so he's distracted.

Speaker 3 (56:31):
You're saying, I mean, have you ever gone a walk
with Astley around the neighborhood? Here mark the exact picture
that was sent to Jeff via the text.

Speaker 4 (56:39):
That's true, that's quite the day you we're a weekend
and that's the first time he got a secret at Myra.
She man Colts, Get on a wind streak. You have
the calmest woman on earth, is all.

Speaker 3 (56:57):
She's gonna know what side of the play that I'm.

Speaker 4 (57:01):
Gonna get roses delivered tomorrow from a secret of mine.

Speaker 1 (57:04):
She's confident enough to know that good luck finding something
better just kind of has shot respect. Getting back to
what you were talking about, though you were there last week,
how did that offensive line hold up? Enjoying practices against
the Ravens.

Speaker 4 (57:17):
I thought it was fine, but again I I thought
you all seriously then some of the run stuff they
looked really good. When it comes to some of the
Zone read stuff, RPO stuff, and for those listening, that
is just fancies ways of saying, you know, fake handoffs,
you know, and things like that that worked in their favor,
where it's like, well the quarterback keep the ball, will
he handed off to the running back? A few of

(57:37):
those players worked very well. In the offensive line, I
thought had some really key moments. But even then, you
were a couple of plays where I'm wondering, Okay, is
that a sack by ro Kwan Smith or is it not?
Would Anthony allude that would the offensive line be better there?
Would it be worse? So I'm not sure, And that's
the hardest thing to evaluate. I think in preseason football

(57:59):
is the trenches on both sides, and people always ask
about him, Hey, he does Jaalen Travis look? It looks okay,
But how does he look when someone really puts paws
on him? And I think we saw probably more of
an answer in the preseason opener, and I thought there
were a couple of moments where the offensive line kind
of got stone walled a bit.

Speaker 1 (58:17):
Once again, the one stable thing coming in from year
to year to year. It seems to be a trend
for the Colts. Nobody's worried about the punting game, right, No.

Speaker 4 (58:26):
I mean, yeah, Rigo butlor Tanchez is one of the
best punters in the league, so he should be fine.

Speaker 1 (58:31):
Keep that tradition going of having terrific punters for the
Colts like that.

Speaker 4 (58:35):
Yeah, I get it for people going like punting.

Speaker 1 (58:37):
I was gonna say, hey, but these are guys that
can can completely flip the field belly out of a
lot of tough situations.

Speaker 4 (58:44):
Took the field too much, otherwise you're gonna be losing
a lot.

Speaker 2 (58:46):
The Colts was the first, the first town I've ever
seen like punters, like people wearing punter jerseys.

Speaker 4 (58:51):
Well their their punter and fairness is not like most
punters right at the time of mag what is going
on in this town. He's got a huge personality.

Speaker 1 (59:00):
There's interesting.

Speaker 3 (59:01):
Yeah, we're always interesting.

Speaker 1 (59:03):
Were low key, Yeah, all right, we'll talk more about
that again. Scrimmage time today, it's joint practice time. I
keep saying scrimmage, but its joint practice is a little
bit different. What time does that start? Today?

Speaker 4 (59:13):
At three pm? Three out there Bacon in the sun.

Speaker 1 (59:16):
Got the bucket hat you can go bucket at today
to Kevin, Yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (59:20):
Actually the weather looks uh looks decent, like not going
to be scorchings courching hot. But yeah, you probably should
go team bucket had for the final practice, right.

Speaker 4 (59:27):
I want James signing at least two bucket hats today.

Speaker 2 (59:30):
We need to hit this. It's the last time to
get out there for babies and get Kevin and ice
cold Blue Power aid.

Speaker 1 (59:38):
How about that? Yeah, it looks like it said about
eighty five degrees at three pm, which is a lot
different than compared to ninety percent humidity going on there
by the way. Uh. One of our listeners texting me
we were talking about sweat bees up check the cults
the other day, Oh right, texting what I should say?
Send me a note on on Twitter? How about that

(59:59):
or x? But talking about the fact that because he
sent me the difference between sweat bees and cornflies and whatnot,
all he's getting now all over his algorithms are sweat bees.

Speaker 4 (01:00:13):
I thought, this is all we're going to be. This
is our show. Now we're like the National Geographic channel.
You're learning about sweat bees Hendricks County. Yeah show, All right.

Speaker 1 (01:00:23):
Let's check things down and get you ready to go
for the day ahead.

Speaker 8 (01:00:27):
The morning checkdown on Nutty Sweet five and one oh
seven five fat he's taking.

Speaker 4 (01:00:32):
The pollen count updates and air.

Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
You're like yours sneezing all day yesterday. Okay, Yeah, there's
a little pollen in the air, a little allergy. What
was going on there?

Speaker 7 (01:00:41):
Man?

Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
You know I was worried about You.

Speaker 4 (01:00:42):
Know, I will happily talk about this when we start
our you know, nature show.

Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
All right, we'll do that. We will be interested in
the NBA schedule release a little bit later on today,
not sure exactly what time it drops. The Indiana Pacers
know that they will open their season on the twenty
third of October against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Other details
coming out, like Champions Cup their first game there. What
do we know, James, I think in particular the Missioner's
Cup right yet?

Speaker 4 (01:01:09):
But I mean, like I said, I just want to know,
like Mike Mark wants to know, when is that first
Bucks game?

Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
Here a gamer, That's the first thing I'm looking at.
I'm skipping the rest of the schedule and looking for
with that Bucks logo.

Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
Right. A lot of people also on the text, I'm
saying absolutely Miles is going to get boothed when he
comes back. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:01:25):
I don't even think it's a debate.

Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
A lot of people saying they weren't exactly Miles Turner
fans in the first place. Got a couple of those
texts today anyway, that'll be coming out later on today.
The Indianapolis Colts, as we've been talking about, joint practices
with the Green Bay Packers. No Jordan Love, he's going
to miss the rest of the preseason because of surgery
on his non throwing thumb earlier this week Captain Bowen,

(01:01:47):
so we won't see him this weekend either.

Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
Yeah, Packers sounds like they're pretty banged up a whiteout,
so it'll be battle of attrition Packers whiteouts versus Colts
corners today. They're also without their best arguably their best
defensive players. David McKinney. He had a big pick in
that Week two game there last season, so definitely trench play.
I think he'll get good on good there. That'll be
something to keep an eye on. And we'll see how

(01:02:09):
Malik Willis looks against the Colts. He didn't do a
whole lot last year in Week two, but did enough
for them to give the w And it sounds like
from the Green Bay side of it, he has struggled
a bit during camp and you've gone into your rolodex
for a green Bay guest coming up at nine.

Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
Doug Russell, who was the pregame host for the Green
Bay Packers, is going to join us at nine o'clock.

Speaker 3 (01:02:30):
The heavy Taylor trade team, was it not?

Speaker 1 (01:02:35):
It was?

Speaker 3 (01:02:36):
That was the probably the team that warned Taylor the most,
or at least realistically.

Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
Wisconsin kid.

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Yeah, wouldn't Malik Willis lighten it up today? Be like
the worst case scenario because like, if it's Jordan Love
you like okay, like whatever. But if Malik Willis comes
in and starts torching the Colts, aren't you like, oh.

Speaker 4 (01:02:52):
God, he did torch them last year? Malik Willis PTSD
like not again. Not this guy. We'll see because I
have questions, like I said, about that linebacker corps and
also the depleted secondary well, and.

Speaker 1 (01:03:11):
He had a Fever. Return to the Fieldhouse tomorrow night
they'll take on the Washington Mystics. That one starts at
seven thirty pm. Our pregame show with Eddie Garrison will
begin at seven fifteen. Get ready to go on that one.
As we speak right now, the Fever are eighteen and fifteen,
sitting in sixth place in the WNBA standings. You want
to try to get into the top four to get

(01:03:31):
a home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
Right now they are behind the Phoenix Murcer who in
fourth place right there at nineteen and twelve. So a
game and a half with some games for Phoenix to
make up as they try and chase that down where
it's all said and done. And we'll talk to Scott
Agnes at nine o'clock this morning about I'm sorry thirty.
Next it's Doug Russell at nine. Scott Agnes coming up next,

(01:03:52):
and we'll ask him if there's any Caitlin Clark anywhere
on the horizon when that one comes up. Major League Baseball,
the Reds are making a play here right now. Kevin
Bowen trying to make a big playoff push here.

Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
Hunter Green excellent in his return last night, so it
was thrilled to see that. Yes, just a game back
of the very really New York Mets, which makes me
very happy.

Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
Yeah. Reds specifically beat the Phillies eight to nothing last night.
In that when Saint Louis Cardinals were edged out by
the Colorado Rocky, sixty five was the final score there.
It was the White Sox losing to the Tigers one nothing,
still struggling offensively at times. And the Brewers have now
won twelve games in a row, twelve five over the Pirates.
They just have won free hamburgers for everybody in Milwaukee.

(01:04:38):
Mark's going to go up there and be a resident
for a day.

Speaker 4 (01:04:41):
But they need more beef and cheese up there. Clogged
those arteries.

Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
And Kevin, you talked about that to.

Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
THEE how much that is my diet, just beef and cheese,
and I just like eat it. Just your prosing different
other ways, like oh yeah, this isn't really beef and cheese.
And I'm like, oh wait, I guess that is going
to be.

Speaker 1 (01:04:57):
We're talking slim gyms here, like real beef and real cheese.

Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
I'm tugging real beefing all right.

Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
Live golf coming this weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
Cheesteak, how about a taco? Yeah, let's see if I can. Yeah,
live golf. I see Scottie Pippin in the program today.

Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
I saw Scotty pipping teeing off driving by a golf
course in Chicago.

Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
Wasn't the event in Chicago last week? Shouldn't have that
been the Scottie Pippin program.

Speaker 4 (01:05:18):
He's not exactly making friends over there anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:05:21):
Is he making friends here?

Speaker 4 (01:05:23):
I guess I was gonna say, I don't know if
he's loved by the Pacers fan base.

Speaker 3 (01:05:26):
I was surprised see first ever Pete Dike course they've
gone to this year at Chattam Mills, and I guess
the rumor is there back next year. At least that's
the thought process. And then some old big thing in
playfield being built by the Hankies, and we'll see what happens.

Speaker 1 (01:05:39):
I saw the other day when I was driving through Westfield,
there's a big sign that said welcome to Westfield, home
of Live Golf.

Speaker 3 (01:05:44):
The expectation is the biggest domestic event they've had so far.
This is a year four of Live and they play
what probably three to four times in the US each year,
I don't know, maybe a little bit more than that.
So we'll see how the crowds are out there. Obviously,
when you think about Indian in a sports town kind
of goes without saying what our history is here and

(01:06:05):
people showing up. So I think as long as mother
nature cooperates and the sweat sweat bees cooperate as well,
should be a nice crowd up there.

Speaker 1 (01:06:13):
I think we're looking forward to a future minor league
baseball team somewhere in Indiana called the sweat Bees at
this point, aren't we all right? Coming up in a moment,
we will talk Fever. We'll talk a little schedule release
in the NBA Fieldhouse Files, man Scott Agnes stops spies.
We continue the Fan Morning Show with Kevin Bowen, James Boyd,

(01:06:33):
Jeff Rickard, Mark Dyton Radio on ninety three five and
one oh seven five.

Speaker 8 (01:06:40):
If you were listening to aut Fan Morning Show on
Sports Radio ninety three to five and one oh seven five,
the Fan.

Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
Schedule release day in the NBA. We'll find out a
little bit more about the Pacers and who's coming to town.
Win a little bit later on this afternoon. Fever back
in action tomorrow night against the Washington Mystics, and the
man who covers it all joins us now on the
Payless Liquors Hotline. That would be Scott Agnes. You can
find his stuff over at the field House Files. Good
friend of the station in the program here, Good Thursday morning, Scott.

(01:07:10):
You got lots going on right now.

Speaker 6 (01:07:12):
Hello, Jeff.

Speaker 5 (01:07:13):
Yeah, absolutely, and that's really kind of been the case
all summer long. It really hasn't been any letup whatsoever.

Speaker 4 (01:07:20):
So Scott, I will start with the question, and I'm
sure you have been peppered with over and over and
over again, and I will just add to this, what
is the latest on Caitlyn Clark and will she return
and play this season?

Speaker 5 (01:07:33):
Yeah, so that there remains no timeline and there never
has been one. That's the one thing I want to
stress there. She remains out indefinitely, and I think it
was wise for them purposely not to put a timeline
on there, given all all the various elements, but the
number one thing being the fact that she has never

(01:07:53):
dealt with any injuries throughout her career. So she remains
out and definitely she's with the team every single day,
has not yet ramped up to doing stuff with the
team and with you know, multiple players and all kinds
of things like that. And yes, I do expect for
her to return for the season, but I think it'll

(01:08:14):
be at least a couple more weeks.

Speaker 4 (01:08:16):
So one quick follow up to that. So basically what
you're saying is they don't want a situation where it
was a TJ. Warren and it was it went from
what weeks to months to wait a second, he'sn't playing
again this year. So I think that was wise on
their part. I would agree there, But yeah, you made
me think of the TJ. Warren Rick Carlisle common from
a couple of years ago and that lord knows how
many times you played that over the year.

Speaker 5 (01:08:37):
And that's why to me, James, it was so important
for them not to say, hey, she's day to day
or let's we'll see tomorrow or anything like that.

Speaker 6 (01:08:45):
The biggest thing you'll see you've seen.

Speaker 5 (01:08:46):
The teams here in the last few years Pacers included,
is if they don't have to or if they can
stay away from the timeline, mostly because if there's a
setback or if you know, players not feeling right, well,
if they don't hit that time line, then everybody worries
or whatever. It's like, we don't know everything that's going
on behind the scenes or why. And so I think

(01:09:08):
it's it's more so not to rush Kaylin, but also
from the fan perspective or everything. But I would be
stunned if she does not return. And let's use another
pace of analogy. How many times have we seen them
a player want to come back for at least a
few games to finish the season. I think if TJ. McConnell,
he had hand injury, came back to play in a

(01:09:31):
couple games before the offseason, I think about Paul George's
compound leg fracture came back, I think played six games
before the offseason the season was over. I think it
would be so healthy mentally for her to get that
because then otherwise, James, she's not playing from mid July
to like May, and that's not healthy either. If she

(01:09:53):
can get to the point where she's comfortable, and I
think she will, so.

Speaker 3 (01:09:56):
Scott, based off what you're kind of laying out there,
I mean, she'd is going to play in a couple
of regular season games until the playoffs, and I stress
maybe on that.

Speaker 5 (01:10:07):
No, I think it'd be slightly more than that. I
think it'd be I think just guessing here, I think
you'd be looking at a final I don't know, a
week and a half, couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (01:10:18):
Because we're less than a month until the regular season ends.

Speaker 5 (01:10:22):
Right, I'm saying a couple at least a couple more weeks.
So that's that's halfway. So you got two weeks of
the regular season ideally, and then you have the playoffs.
So yeah, it's not a lot of time. You're absolutely right,
but it's more than a game.

Speaker 3 (01:10:34):
Or two anything. Scott aginsfield House files with us here
and I know we don't want to go Caitlin Clark
for the entire segment, but anything says she said with
Sue Byrd and that kind of stood out to you.
I enjoyed that podcast. We obviously haven't heard from her
in a media setting in a while. I thought she
had some candid comments about her first injury and initially thinking, hey,
I'm just tight, I'm just sore. I got to play

(01:10:55):
through this. I don't want to be soft, et cetera,
et cetera. Anything stand out to you from her appearance
on Sue Birds pod.

Speaker 6 (01:11:02):
Yeah, that was really good.

Speaker 5 (01:11:04):
It's great when the legend like like a Sue Bird
is able to get her to open up. They had
a different conversation here in town during All Star weekend. Yeah,
I thought there was a number of things I think
reiterating I think it was important to fans is how
much she knows she means to fans and how much
she might think about the pressure to be out there

(01:11:26):
and to miss time, and that's something to some degree
as well.

Speaker 6 (01:11:30):
She mentioned last year she was like, look, I realized
all these.

Speaker 5 (01:11:32):
Fans are selling out hundreds of dollars and we're selling
out arenas and all that. So I think for her
being just a twenty three year old, I think just
how she continues to be so self aware about her
presence and what it can do.

Speaker 6 (01:11:46):
And in the fact.

Speaker 5 (01:11:48):
The line she hadn't said it, but you could feel
it and see it. The point maybe that she said, look,
I'm going to every game, I'm gonna sign autographs. I'm
gonna make a point to do all that. Like I'm
not sure sure every player would. I think they'd stay
back or avoid that, sit in the locker room until
game time. So no, that was a good wine ranging conversation.

Speaker 6 (01:12:09):
You're right.

Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
Scott Agnes joining us now on the pay Less Lookers hotline.
He covers the Fever and the Pacers over the Fieldhouse
Files eighteen and fifteen. Now, for this team, they've struggled
a little bit. I think lost three of their last four.
Is it turnovers? Is it not point guard play? What's
going on with this team right now? And just can
they survive until Caitlin Clark gets back.

Speaker 5 (01:12:32):
Yeah, to me, the number one thing is defense, and
that's mainly because two they've talked about how much that
leads to their offensive end, and so if they're playing
in the half court, if it allows for the defense
to get set, then there's still been a little bit
disorganized on the offensive end. But to me, it's defensively
not staying in front of their man and then fouling

(01:12:55):
all those fouls piling up and players out of place.
That's to me where they got to figure it.

Speaker 6 (01:13:01):
Out and come together on that front.

Speaker 5 (01:13:04):
And they're still figuring out some I think with lineups
and rotations you have all these or not. You got
several new players right with Odyssey Sims and still Chloe
Bibbie as well. Chicago. I don't think the Chicago win
was a great representation just of how bad that team is,
and the Fever have had their number all season long.
I think the Fever probably in the middle of what

(01:13:26):
we saw against Chicago versus also what we saw against
the Wings, because that Wings game, much of that game
was a future performance. They they just were not showing
up well at either end of the floor and Obviously
the point guard's thing is an issue and then will
remain that for the rest of the season as players
are going to have to sacrifice and play out a position,

(01:13:47):
but it's got to improve defensively.

Speaker 1 (01:13:50):
Just curious schedule or last coming for the NBA today,
including the Pacers. What do we know right now? What
are you looking forward to?

Speaker 5 (01:13:56):
Say? We know five games so far? We know opening
night season opener will be that October twenty third against Okay.
See I'm calling it game ten, Jeff, because yet obviously
Game seven they played in the summer League. We know
they're going to meet in the preseason, and then by
this time I think we'll wrap up all the storylines

(01:14:16):
and put a bow on this past season and then
you know, the for dates for a group play for
the NBA Cup. But there's so many different things we're
all paying attention to. Right is any more holiday games,
which does not obviously seem to be the case. Those
are the ones they've announced. You're looking forward to national
TV games? We already know they have two. They had

(01:14:37):
nine last year, I think three of the year before that,
and then it's just looking at key matchups, reunion dates,
you know, wins the first Milwaukee game, right that might
be the number one game many people are looking forward to.
But we'll know all that by this afternoon.

Speaker 4 (01:14:53):
I need to know when the Bucks are coming to town.
And also I will again bet the overall on the
amount of booze that Miles Turner receives, because that's just
how fans are. But one question I do have, Scott,
in regards to the schedule for the Pacers, do you
think they'll receive nine or more National TV games or

(01:15:15):
less because of the Halliburton injury?

Speaker 5 (01:15:17):
I am taking the under.

Speaker 6 (01:15:19):
What about you?

Speaker 4 (01:15:20):
I think I'll take the under as well, But I
just don't know, like how much respect did did they
earn from last year and how much of the businesses
just cut throat. It's like, well, you lost your star
and you know, there goes your National TV games.

Speaker 5 (01:15:31):
That's got to be what it is. Not only did
you lose Haliburton, you lost Turner. We don't know what
to make of you right now. Therefore, you know, I
was actually kind of surprised they already have two that
are right now. I feel like the number probably and
I think this is one of the biggest things fans
pay attention to.

Speaker 6 (01:15:46):
I'd probably said it right at like four and a half.

Speaker 4 (01:15:50):
Okay, that's fair. That's fair, Scott.

Speaker 3 (01:15:53):
Last one for me, I do think like and you
can say that's pretty much every NBA team. Like a
back vaded schedule in today's NBA, where teams are resting guys,
especially late in seasons, I think is really beneficial. You know,
last year, for example, the Cleveland games, we saw that
late in the regular season, they barely played anybody against
the Pacers. I also think it's extra beneficial to this
year's Pacer team because you know, Nemhart in a new role,

(01:16:16):
Mathering in a new role. You know, pretty much everybody
is in some sort of new role or asked to
do different things. I think it'd be highly beneficial if
you know, a Western trip is late in the year
and you know, again some of these more marquee opponents
falls in the March April window, because I do think
the Pacers will be a different team come you know,

(01:16:36):
Spring twenty twenty at the start of the year. Am
I making too much of that?

Speaker 5 (01:16:43):
I think you are a little bit because of the
continuity of their throster. Otherwise, like this isn't like take
the fever for example, they only had five or turning
players from last year. This this pacer team. You're you're
changing the starting lineup and you have to figure it
out at the center position. But ode of that a
ton of continuity, And if anything, I would argue for

(01:17:04):
that early road trip out west earlier on because that
allows for them to have that more time together, is
what I lean on. I like those road trips early
on in the season in November December because it forces
you to be with.

Speaker 6 (01:17:18):
Each other seven to ten days. Now again, I think it's.

Speaker 5 (01:17:21):
Different because this group's continuity. But I think the biggest thing,
more than anything I'd stress is you hope.

Speaker 6 (01:17:28):
Not to have those awful back to backs or the.

Speaker 5 (01:17:31):
Four games and seven days and that type of thing,
much more so than kind of that front loaded schedule.

Speaker 1 (01:17:38):
I was good to talk to you, Scott. Enjoy the
day and we will talk to you soon. And happy
schedule release day.

Speaker 5 (01:17:44):
I guess absolutely appreciate it, guys.

Speaker 1 (01:17:46):
Then here he is from the Fieldhouse file, Scott Agnes
on the Payliss Lookers hotline. Coming up in a moment,
is the AFC South truly up for grabs? One national
publication thing, So we'll talk about it next on ninety
three to five and one on something to five. The
fan schedule coming out later today for the Pacers and
the NBA. We'll look forward to that. JMB is going
to be up at Colts Camp from three to six

(01:18:08):
this afternoon where Packers will be taking on the Green
Bay Packers in a joint scrimmage. You are all over
it today. You are all over it today. I like that.
Saw something the other day which is interesting and don't
take too much from it, but ESPN dot Com had
the ceiling and the floor for every team in the NFL,

(01:18:29):
and they did it by division. It's funny that they
have Houston, Jacksonville and the Colts with their ceiling, not
necessarily predicting that, but their ceilings each at eleven and
six floors are a little bit different. But all of
them have pretty low floors too, which tells me that
nationally people don't know what to think about any of.

Speaker 4 (01:18:46):
The teams in the AFC South James, I think they
should roll with Houston. I don't know why they wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (01:18:53):
Well, they've got for a ceiling eleven, they've got them first,
but their ceiling is eleven and six. But They've also
got their floor at six and eleven, and their question
is can the group protect quarterbacks C J. Stroud and
establish the line of scrimmage in the run game. So
they're worried about the offensive line for the time.

Speaker 4 (01:19:09):
Yeah, that is a big question for Houston this year.
I can definitely agree with that. But if you're asking
me quarterback play, which quarterback is the best in the division?
Easily DJ Stroud?

Speaker 1 (01:19:20):
Can Lawrence be that guy?

Speaker 4 (01:19:23):
He could be, But as far as the Colts's purposes go,
you're basically trying to figure out are we going to
be last or second to last? Because I don't think
you're on a better quarterback than either of those two.
Eleven wins for the Colts is in the ceiling. That's
the stratusphere I feel. Yeah, eleven wins, I mean we're
we're having a parade. Eleven wins. You got a home
playoff game, you won the division, and you're probably expected
to win your home playoff game, right, I mean, if

(01:19:44):
you're going eleven to six, that's a great that's a
great ry.

Speaker 1 (01:19:46):
They've got the floor for the Colts at five and twelve.

Speaker 4 (01:19:48):
Kevin, when's the last time they won eleven games.

Speaker 1 (01:19:50):
That's the floor. It's five and twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:19:53):
Yeah, I mean, you know the old saying. I say
it almost annually, and yet the Colts have been on
a will take advantage of it. God bless the AFC South.
It is the gift that keeps on giving. It gives
you a chance. It's mediocre, it stinks. It's the worst
of the four divisions AFC, and I think that's what
makes it the most frustrating aspect of ten years now

(01:20:13):
without a division title. It's not like you are the
Raiders with Patrick Mahomes in the AFC West or the
Jets with Josh Allen in the AFC East. You have
been unable to win a division where what Ryan Tannehill
is wanted a couple of times. Can you name the
last two quarterbacks brock Osweiler maybe, can you.

Speaker 4 (01:20:33):
Name the last two quarterbacks the Colts have had that
have won eleven games?

Speaker 3 (01:20:37):
Did Uncle Phil do it?

Speaker 4 (01:20:39):
Uncle Phil?

Speaker 1 (01:20:39):
And Andrew and Andrew?

Speaker 4 (01:20:43):
These quarterbacks as good as those guys.

Speaker 1 (01:20:45):
Philip Rivers was really he wasn't a great quarterback at
the end of his career, but he was really effective
when he was here.

Speaker 4 (01:20:52):
Yeah, he was great for these standards, and that's why
I don't know that is interesting to me. It could
go a couple of different ways. But as I've said,
my hot take, which I think is kind of funny
but kind of serious. If the Colos loser season opener
and then not making the playoffs, there's my hot take
for the season.

Speaker 3 (01:21:09):
That's that's JMV. You're stealing Jamv's thunder must win.

Speaker 1 (01:21:13):
One, must win, right.

Speaker 4 (01:21:14):
He stole it from me first, It's like two months ago.

Speaker 3 (01:21:17):
He calls the must wins.

Speaker 1 (01:21:19):
He's been doing that for years.

Speaker 4 (01:21:20):
Well, that's true. Yeah, I guess you're stealing his takes. Yeah,
make steal his hair later on.

Speaker 1 (01:21:28):
I think there's some to it. Go ahead and explain
your thinking on that too.

Speaker 4 (01:21:31):
To do something different, you gotta be different, and I
feel like they lose their season opener every year.

Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
I would add who the opponent is to that is
a team that could squarely be in the wildcard mix
if you were playing whatever the Seattle Seahawks Week one. Yes,
obviously a win a Week one would help, but it
doesn't have the same sort of AFC potential wildcard win.
I think the fact that and I'd stretch it to
week two as well. The fact that you get Miami
and Denver week one and two. I just think you're

(01:21:56):
monumental games.

Speaker 1 (01:21:58):
And I stretch it to Week three it's your first
divisional game too.

Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
Yeah, I have a Tennessee stink, I know.

Speaker 1 (01:22:02):
But my point is, if you can get two of
those three, or god forbid, all three, you're rolling right.

Speaker 4 (01:22:09):
And they just don't do that start the year. So
can that be the year, Jeff? Can this be the
year where they actually start off a season without having
been behind the eight ball?

Speaker 3 (01:22:16):
Do you think maybe some point in the nine o'clock hour,
you know, you brought up Phil Rivers. It got me
thinking back to that Jordan Love draft. It weirdly, you know,
when you think of Colts Packers, it's not like you
think of a lot of overlap. They're not in the
same conference, right, But you know, we mentioned it a
little bit earlier in the show. We can get back
to it. But I think Green Bay A had real
interest in Jonathan Taylor, and there's always been a question,

(01:22:40):
I think from Colts fans of was Jordan Love a
possibility back in that twenty twenty draft. So we'll have
a little bit on that. Maybe we do that coming
up at nine o'clock hour.

Speaker 1 (01:22:50):
Looking forward to that. Also, Doug Russell, who does the
pregame show for the Green Bay Packers, is going to
join us at the top of the hour and give
us a little more information about what they're trying to
ACCOMPLI knowing that Jordan Love is not going to be there,
that he's out for the rest of the preseason, I
don't think that when you have and I think we
start to call Jordan Love a bit of a veteran
quarterback at this point in time, I don't think that's

(01:23:11):
too much of a handicap for them the rest of
the preseason, is it?

Speaker 7 (01:23:15):
Not?

Speaker 3 (01:23:15):
Really?

Speaker 4 (01:23:16):
I mean, if you're a Green Bay Packers saying, you're
just saying, will the guy suit up for Week one?
Be available?

Speaker 2 (01:23:20):
You can't keep saying the full name Otherwise I have
to play the sounder.

Speaker 4 (01:23:23):
That's the rule. The Green and Yellow team, I was
gonna say, what is going on here?

Speaker 3 (01:23:28):
But they weren't terrible in their preseason open at Green
Bay with their starters.

Speaker 4 (01:23:32):
That's true.

Speaker 3 (01:23:33):
Battle Flour was extremely unhappy both sides of ball. The
Jets really dusted you talk.

Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
About sports arousal. I could watch that game and you know,
fourth kid on the way.

Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
In the first half.

Speaker 4 (01:23:45):
There reverse science here. I'm sure there's nothing like that.

Speaker 3 (01:23:49):
You love that.

Speaker 4 (01:23:51):
Man trying to look at it. But even then, like
they're a team another team that is used to win.

Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
Is that the best division of football?

Speaker 6 (01:23:57):
Mark?

Speaker 2 (01:23:59):
I mean, I would say so, especially this year. So
I will say NFC North only because there's a lot
of unknowns, but they all look pretty stacked. Teams like
the Lions lost like every coordinator imaginable, but they still have,
you know, pretty good players on there. The Vikings they
lost Sam Darnold, but you know, Kevin McConnell is a

(01:24:21):
pretty good h wizard when it comes to quarterback place.
Kevin o'con is now coaching, and h what is JJ
McCarthy going to bring the table? They still have justin
Jefferson obviously and all that. They they look really good.
The Packers are a big unknown. I mean they have
they've always been pretty consistent. But you look at that
wide receiver group. Their wide receiver group is not going

(01:24:41):
to scare anybody. That looks like a whole room of
threes out there.

Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
I'm excited to see what Matthew Golden is going to
be all about though.

Speaker 2 (01:24:47):
Yeah, yeah, he might be there number one by by
the end of the season. And obviously the Bears have
a lot of pressure. They spend a lot of big
money to bring Ben Johnson to town. They've overhauled that
entire coaching staff, which is just insane if you look
at their coaching staff who they all have. So can
they finally put it all together and get Caleb Williams
on track. They've re hauled their offensive line and all
that stuff, so it isn't up for grabs division I
would I would vote for the NFC North because I

(01:25:08):
think every game that they have is going to be
a slug fest weekend and week out.

Speaker 1 (01:25:12):
All Right, we're gonna find out a little bit more
about that team from Wisconsin.

Speaker 4 (01:25:15):
Mark coming up to do and I'm not going to
allow it to fly.

Speaker 1 (01:25:21):
We'll do it next It's ninety three five and one
oh seven. Good Thursday morning to you. The Colts and
Packers have a joint scrimmage later on this afternoon up
at Grand Park. JMB is gonna be live on the
scene there from three to six, and of course we'll
tell you how everything works out in the meantime. We're
waiting for the NBA schedule release that's supposed to come
out later on today as well, though we've learned a
few dates already. We'll get to that. We'll check in

(01:25:42):
on the fan text line at two three nine ten
seventy a little bit later on in the hour, but
right now.

Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
Our rise sometimes too, because there might be some question momential.

Speaker 1 (01:25:50):
Yeah, nobody else can see it though, Well what I
meant for Jeff so Oliver myz, Jeff, you do as
you please? Did get a spicy one this morning? Didn't we?

Speaker 7 (01:25:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:26:00):
I know we don't.

Speaker 4 (01:26:00):
Don't drag me as a Christie. Don't be getting mad
at me.

Speaker 1 (01:26:03):
This is you, my goodness. Let's check the payless Lookers
hotline right now. My good friend Doug Russell does the
pregame show for the Packers up there on Remind me
which I know. It's a couple of stations you work for.
Which one's the pregame show.

Speaker 5 (01:26:19):
On the pregame shows on the state wide network. So
it's on in Milwaukee on ninety seven to three of
the game on in Green Bay on WNFL radio. Madison
is WTSO radio, So yeah, that's on a few places.

Speaker 1 (01:26:33):
I like that though, it's good to talk to you again, Doug,
And we've got joint practices with the Packers today. But
no Jordan Love and a bunch of injuries piling up
for the Packers. What can Colts fans who are going
up there today expect to see.

Speaker 5 (01:26:46):
I think that you're going to see a competitive team
that Yeah, they've got a couple of injuries. Jordan Love's
not going to be there, obviously had a procedure done
on his thumb earlier in the week.

Speaker 6 (01:26:56):
Listen.

Speaker 5 (01:26:56):
I would rather you got to see Jordan Love than
not got to see Jordan Love. But you know, that's
the danger of playing in the preseason, I suppose. But yeah,
there's a few guys that are a little bit banged up.
But you know, Jayden Reed is in a walking boot,
so you're not gonna be able to see him. Romeo
Dobbs is a little bit banged up. Christian Watson tore
his ACL last year. He's an exciting player that you're
not going to see. Nate Hobbs their new right cornerback.

(01:27:19):
They're trying to make up for the loss of jay
r Alexander, who didn't really play all that much last well.
The last couple of seasons. He's now in Baltimore after
they released him. They tried to trade him the entire offseason,
weren't able to But Nate Hobbs they signed him from
the Las Vegas Raiders and he comes in, he bangs
up his knee, so he's not going to be available.
Quake Walker's not going to be there. So yeah, they're

(01:27:41):
Zavier McKinney, he was first team opro last year. He's
not going to be there. So you are going to
see guys like Evan Williams. You are going to see
guys like Keyshaun Nixon, Drian Cooper who had in a
marvelous rookie season. You're gonna be able to see him.
I think it's a good Packers team. But yeah, they're
they're dealing with some injuries right now.

Speaker 3 (01:27:57):
Doug, where would you consider I guess health strengths obviously
you just laid out wide out and a little bit
in the secondary bang dub Jordan love of course, But
like healthy strengths are ware for evaluation wise for the
Colts today.

Speaker 5 (01:28:11):
I think, well, Josh Jacobs is healthy, so he's one
of the elite running backs in the National Football League.
They got both of their second and I guess third
running backs. They're not quite sure what the depth chart
is going to look like, whether or it's going to
be Emmanuel Wilson or Marshall Lloyd behind Josh Jacobs, but
both of those guys returned. They love Chris Brooks. He's
going to be back, so their offensive backfield aside from

(01:28:32):
Jordan Love, so the running backs, that's a healthy position
for them. Matthew Golden is their first round draft choice
OUTE of the University of Texas. He has caught everything
thrown his way at practice so far this summer. Some
of the best hands I've ever seen. And he's a rookie.
He's got speed to burnt, a little bit undersized. If

(01:28:52):
you watched him at Texas you know exactly what I'm
talking about, but just amazing hands. I think they've got
great tight ends. And Tucker Craft and Luke Musgrave, speaking
of help, those guys are finally healthy and on the
same field at the same time. They were drafted in
back to backgrounds in the second round and in the
third round two years ago, and it's been a struggle
to keep both of those guys on the field at
the same time. The offensive line is a little bit

(01:29:17):
banged up, but it's not too bad. You know, at
left guard you've got Aaron Banks, he's a newcomer. Sean
Ryan at right guard, so the interior is good. Zach
Com just signed a long term contract and he's going
to be on the field today. He's maybe one of
the most underrated right tackles, and the Packers don't have
him underrated, but one of the most underrated right tackles

(01:29:38):
in the NFL. So yeah, I mean there's some guys
that you can evaluate. Absolutely. There are some injuries, there's
no question about it, but there are some places where
you can have some good evaluation.

Speaker 4 (01:29:47):
Doug, we know that met La floor was not pleased
after the preseason openers. So from I guess the Packers angle,
what things would they like to I guess executor show
despite the injuries against the calls later.

Speaker 5 (01:29:58):
Today, they'd like to do everything better than they did
against the Jets. I mean, that was just that was
a thorough drubbing that took place at Lambeau Field. It
was sloppy, a lot of penalties, a lot of drops,
a lot of pre snap stuff that just can't happen.

(01:30:20):
A lot of holding penalties. Yeah, everything that you saw
in that film, they'd like to do better. I mean
every every literally every aspect. I had a kicking game
is okay. Randon Mannus made a field goal, didn't miss one.

Speaker 4 (01:30:31):
Yeah, that's all I got with soap after asking you
this question. That was tough.

Speaker 5 (01:30:38):
It was terrible. They were, honestly they and Matt Lafloor said,
I'm not listen, You're not I'm not breaking any news here.
That's the first thing that Matt laflor said at his
postgame press conference. He's like, if you're going to do
this here, you get your a kick. And he was right,
if you're going to play like this, you're gonna get
your kicked and they got their.

Speaker 3 (01:30:56):
Kicked one following sound effect.

Speaker 4 (01:31:01):
When it comes to the quarterback, obviously, Lake Willis will
get I would imagine the reps today at quarterback. And
I remember last year in Week two he did enough
to obviously get the Packers to a win. So from
that aspect, what do you hope to see from him?
And I guess how can the Colts kind of challenge him?
Because I think that he is you know, if it
comes down to it, he could be a key to

(01:31:22):
the season if you know, Jordan Love misses a game
or two.

Speaker 5 (01:31:25):
Oh, Malik Willis saved their season a year ago, and
a lot of that had to do again, you know,
with the game against you guys in Week two. Jordan
lovey as know, wasn't able to play. I had the
knee injury that was suffered at the end of the
Week one game against the Eagles in South pallow and
Malik Willis, who had been in Green Bay for exactly
nineteen days, took a modified playbook and mastered it. And

(01:31:50):
I thought it was Matt Lafleur's best game. I thought
it was a game that Malik Willis really showed why
the Packers were unhappy with either Michael Pratt or Shawan Clifford.
They're backup quarterbacks who were vying for that number two spot.
They cut them both at the end of training camp
and then went out and traded for Malik Willis, figuring that, well,

(01:32:12):
he'll have time to at least perhaps digest the playbook
before he's needed to be before they need to deploy him. No,
not really, less than the three weeks later he's in
there starting a game he started against you guys against Indianapolis.
Of course at lambeau Field won that game. A week later,
Jordan Us was still unavailable, went to his old place
the team and played against the team that he came

(01:32:33):
Packers were able to win that game as well. Week eight,
Jordan got hurt again. Malik Willis came in in Jacksonville,
a game that probably was a little bit closer than
it should have been, and the Packers were able to
win that game, and Milik Willis played well there. So
those three wins that Malik Willis you can put on
his resume. The Packers wouldn't have made the playoffs without
those three wins. Malik Willis is one of those guys

(01:32:55):
that if you don't need there's an old thing. You
don't need a backup quarterback until you need the backup quarterback.
And the Packers are very fortunate that they have a
very good backup quarterback in Malik Willis. So he's clearly
the number two. But you're also going to see Sean
Clifford and Taylor Elger Elgers month. You know, those guys

(01:33:16):
are vying for I guess it would be the third
the third quarterback, but it's going to be a practice
squad position. But that's the real competition right now. It's
between Clifford and the kid from Canada, Elgers month.

Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
Doug russells with us here. You hear him on Agree
Maay Packers radio preview in today's joint practice three to
five today up in Westfield, Final day for the Colts
at Grand Park. Doug a couple of years ago, training
camp for the Colts often look like where's Jonathan Taylor
and does he have his hood up or is his
hood down? As the contract negotiations played out, I led

(01:33:51):
to Jim Ersay showing up and his bus at one
point Jonathan Taylor going on the bus. Eventually, after about
four weeks of the season, Taylor got a new contract.

Speaker 1 (01:34:00):
But the hot.

Speaker 3 (01:34:00):
Rumor back then was the Green Bay Packers really had
serious interest in Taylor. What do you recall if anything
about that.

Speaker 5 (01:34:09):
Well, I think a lot of that was smoke. Because
Jonathan Taylor, of course went to the University of Wisconsin.
He's a fan favorite. If you're a Packers fan, you're
probably a Badgers fan. It seemed that there was a
natural fit there. They could have used maybe a little
bit more depth at the position at the time, I
think that that's what they thought that they were going
to get with AJ Dillon, to be kind of that

(01:34:29):
second guy alongside Aaron Jones. Never really panned out. AJ
Dillons now with Philadelphia Egels, great great young man, but
just was never that that you feature back that the
Packers were looking for. And that's why I went out
and they got Josh Dickobs, you know, last season or
before last season. So yeah, I recall that there was

(01:34:49):
some talk about it, but I think that that was
more maybe some Packers wish casting than anything else. But yeah,
I remember it vaguely, I'll put it that way.

Speaker 6 (01:35:00):
I don't think there was anything.

Speaker 5 (01:35:01):
I don't really think there was that much to do
it in Green Bay.

Speaker 1 (01:35:03):
I was good to talk to you, buddy, Thanks so much.

Speaker 5 (01:35:05):
Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (01:35:06):
All right, have fun. You're gonna be You're gonna be
up in the studio for this preseason game though, right,
you're not coming down.

Speaker 5 (01:35:11):
I will be, yes, unfortunately. But it was going to
see you at the combine.

Speaker 7 (01:35:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:35:16):
Always good to talk to you, man. We'll talk to
you soon, all right. Thanks. J There is Doug Russell,
pregame host on the Packers Radio network, joining US here
on the Payless Liquors hotline and uh, you know, preseason
standard operating procedure this weekend. But you're still somebody pointed
out here, we are at the end of camp after today,
and we still don't have a starting quarterback. That can't
be good, right.

Speaker 4 (01:35:39):
Probably not, But I mean, when did they expect an
announce the starter?

Speaker 1 (01:35:43):
We were just I guess people would have liked for
somebody to have clearly stepped up, I think is the point.

Speaker 4 (01:35:48):
Oh, neither guy has, and I don't think they will, honestly.

Speaker 3 (01:35:52):
I'll add one thing on that little comment there to
Doug to end it. On the Jonathan Taylor Green Bay front,
it kind of falls into a category James, of where
I'm at with the Colts right now, with whatever, Terry McLaurin,
Trey Hendrickson, MICHAEH. Parsons, all this stuff. I think there
is a thought that Green Bay seriously considered trading a

(01:36:15):
very high draft pick for Jonathan Taylor. But at that
point in time, again, that was two training camps ago.
Jordan Love is not yet what we've seen. Jordan Love
has established himself over the last two years as a very,
very quality quarterback in the NFL, right, But at that
time there was still an unknown, and so I think
green Bay looked at it and said, while we have

(01:36:36):
a running back need, we just can't push all those
chips into the middle of the table until we find
out what we have at quarterback because we might need
that in the draft. And that is exactly how I
viewed the Cults right now. Sure, you'd love to go
out and get Michael Parsons, you'd love to go out
and get Trey Hendrickson, you'd love to go out and
get Terry McLaurin, but you can't do that until you

(01:37:00):
feel good about the centerpiece of your organization. So again,
I think green Bay had real serious legit interest, but
they had a threshold, and the Colts wanted them probably
to go to a bigger threshold, and then green Bay,
given their quarterback situation, couldn't go there now. Again, Jordan
Love has panned out obviously, and Josh Jacobs's turned out

(01:37:22):
to be a really nice piece that they found in
free agency. But that's kind of how I view the Colts.
When some of these bigger names get brought up right.

Speaker 1 (01:37:29):
Now, and like I said, you're looking for, you probably
get more out of this joint practice than you do
in the Saturday preseason game or do you think it's important both.

Speaker 4 (01:37:40):
Of them in regards to the Colts.

Speaker 1 (01:37:43):
Yeah, I guess particularly about the quarterback position.

Speaker 4 (01:37:45):
Oh, I mean both things, honestly are probably huge.

Speaker 3 (01:37:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:37:49):
I would think maybe in the joint practice because you
can manufacture more scenarios, so you can probably go red
zone for a period if you want to, You can
go two minutes, you can go just regular eleven or eleven.
So I think, yes, that is a huge part of this.
But also, like I keep telling you all, the live
element of actual tackling and actually being hit, having real
pressure is going to be a factor too, because we

(01:38:11):
saw in the preseason opener unfortunately Franthony Richardson, that it
was a factor, the physicality was a factor. He got
hit and he got hurt. So I think that, you know,
after this weekend, you would like to have an answer
at quarterback. But I'm not sitting here saying that you
know you'll have a very clear, definitive answer, because neither
quarterback has given you one, and I don't know if
they will if they will give you one. At this point, do.

Speaker 3 (01:38:33):
You do you go by JR.

Speaker 1 (01:38:36):
I heard I signed everything JR called me JR. Yeah.
Back when we were both working at Sporting News Radio,
people call me JR. There if you guys ever noticed
on my every time I signed something back, like on
a on a text or an email, it's always JR JR.

Speaker 3 (01:38:50):
Or should we change the title of the show?

Speaker 4 (01:38:52):
Yeah, yeah, I mean it's KB, right.

Speaker 3 (01:38:54):
No one calls everybody sight of this war like, No,
I've never been called KB until I shut up on radio.

Speaker 4 (01:39:01):
Uh No, he called you Kevy either before well.

Speaker 3 (01:39:04):
Kevy outside of Grandma rest in.

Speaker 1 (01:39:06):
Peace, but it was done in love Kevin.

Speaker 5 (01:39:09):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:39:09):
And then you know, James is referred to as JB
in the show title, So should we change it up? KB,
j B and j R.

Speaker 1 (01:39:15):
The graphics people are gonna be really ticked at you
if we do that. I don't care, but the people
who have to do all the work to change everything
probably set.

Speaker 3 (01:39:22):
Doug caught me off guard there.

Speaker 4 (01:39:23):
I was like j R JR.

Speaker 1 (01:39:25):
Rider j R. Smith Jr.

Speaker 6 (01:39:28):
He was he was j R.

Speaker 3 (01:39:30):
And then I'm thinking, boy, I think I went to
Junior High with the j R as well. But I'm like,
wait a minute, that's Jeff Record.

Speaker 6 (01:39:37):
J R.

Speaker 4 (01:39:38):
I think that might be what the uh that that
photo said at the end, you know to j R.

Speaker 1 (01:39:43):
With love you seem to be the one stuck on
that photo. How many times you got back to that
thing there?

Speaker 4 (01:39:48):
No, I'm just saying I'm jealous. Never received you have
you all received anything in the chat like that?

Speaker 1 (01:39:55):
Smarts wallpapers?

Speaker 4 (01:39:56):
And I'm not turning it down, but I think it.

Speaker 1 (01:39:58):
Wasn't It wasn't problem the woman though. It was like
from her boyfriend right, she.

Speaker 4 (01:40:02):
Had to have consent.

Speaker 2 (01:40:03):
I would assume someone said Mark during the judge some
Aaron in the chats are in the text line, said Marxiter.

Speaker 4 (01:40:10):
Straint during this interview was commendable.

Speaker 1 (01:40:12):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:40:12):
I really myself.

Speaker 3 (01:40:13):
I did think about it and just to paint a
little bit more of a picture. You know, early we
have opened up the text line three one, seven, nine,
ten seventy. Thank you to all that have participated. Great
to see the YouTube chat is still alive and well.
Uh the text line we haven't gotten many. I did
not know that they allowed images.

Speaker 6 (01:40:32):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:40:32):
And earlier in the show directed towards j R. Jeff,
here was sent a picture that I believe they would
label that is it in s F work.

Speaker 1 (01:40:47):
It wasn't also very it wasn't like completely explicity.

Speaker 4 (01:40:52):
I don't know hr.

Speaker 3 (01:40:59):
So when I saw that, boy, did I exit out quickly?

Speaker 1 (01:41:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:41:03):
I was thinking you know what you do?

Speaker 1 (01:41:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:41:05):
You never did me like this?

Speaker 1 (01:41:07):
Why Why am I the one taking he forgetting sent something?

Speaker 4 (01:41:10):
Who needs his second k You set it up, You
set up.

Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
No need for a second cup of coffee today? Once
he saw that picture, locked and loaded.

Speaker 1 (01:41:20):
Yeah, number three anyway, Yeah, that's number three to day
A right. Uh did you learn to think about the
packers and joint practices later on today?

Speaker 3 (01:41:28):
Something of the landing that they call that a land Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:41:32):
Yeah again.

Speaker 3 (01:41:34):
Linebacker in the corner remain undecided in terms of starter,
you know, you bring up Obviously it's not ideal when
your quarterback is unknown on August fourteenth. But I think
for the most part, in previous years I could pretty
much write the depth chart down at least in pen
if not sharpie. And right now, who starts next as
Ira Franklin? And who is that third corner will definitely

(01:41:55):
be up for grab spots? And you know, you got
really three key evaluation periods today Saturday and then next Saturday.
We'll see how much the starters play in Cincinnati, so
linebacker and corner remain that it does sound like and
I think Doug kind of hinted at it, you know,
it does sound like Green Bays relatively healthy in the trenches.
So I think anytime you face you know, how much

(01:42:16):
of Laatu Latsu really being disruptive right now is just
he knows Braden Smith. I mean, yeah, there is a
part of that. I think in training camp where once
you know a guy sometimes you can just fully take
advantage of that. So that's a question I would have.

Speaker 1 (01:42:31):
Yeah, I think for me, the biggest thing I'm looking
forward to Saturday as much as anything, is a lot
of we talked about last week a lot of the
new food items that will be available at Lucas. So
I'm going to make a run on the concourse and
just see what's out there and available. Because some of
those things look good.

Speaker 4 (01:42:44):
I was gonna say, well, one of them has already gone.

Speaker 3 (01:42:46):
Viral, the one viral one look like Max Bowen.

Speaker 1 (01:42:49):
Yeah, the one viral I'm probably not going to try. Yeah,
I mean, I'm always pretzel in the shape of a horseshoe.
But it looked like something else.

Speaker 3 (01:42:57):
It looked like dun Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:42:59):
Bring it on.

Speaker 3 (01:43:00):
It looked like Grand Park dung Mark.

Speaker 2 (01:43:02):
Remember that somebody sent me a picture of the Iowa
State Fair logo. It's not real, but I wish it
was because if I if you saw a picture of that,
he'd like that is right.

Speaker 4 (01:43:10):
Up Mark's alley.

Speaker 2 (01:43:12):
Let's just say it's bans and a silo and they
were pieced together and it looks like something. It says
Iowa State Fair.

Speaker 3 (01:43:18):
Welcome to James putting his hands up like he wants
no part of this. Shout out to Charles and Isaiah Rider.
Thank you James for that drop. Charles here. I used
to get ganja from a guy who supplied Isaiah Ryder
when I lived in Portland. So there you go.

Speaker 1 (01:43:33):
Story.

Speaker 4 (01:43:34):
Yeah, full circle there, that's hilarious.

Speaker 3 (01:43:35):
But Isaiah Ryder, why am I picking? Did he want
a dunk contest? Yes he did?

Speaker 1 (01:43:40):
It was a terrific athlete.

Speaker 4 (01:43:41):
Oh absolutely, NBA champion, but put.

Speaker 1 (01:43:44):
A point on it. I'm looking forward to the barbecue,
pork ribbed sandwich and the the pizza box nachos. That's
what I'm gonna try this weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:43:53):
Are you going to State Fair?

Speaker 5 (01:43:55):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:43:55):
At the Colts game.

Speaker 4 (01:43:56):
Oh, at the Colts game.

Speaker 1 (01:43:57):
Okay, they got a bunch of new stuff out there.
I'm looking forward to trying it all, right, to me,
that's what I'm most looking forward to about Saturday.

Speaker 4 (01:44:04):
Yeah, I mean we'll see I actually think that to
your point earlier, Jeff, to go back to your question
about what's more important, Perhaps the Colts period need to
play their quarterbacks in both the joint practices in the
preseason game. But considering how banged up the Packers are,
I wouldn't expect to see many of their starters obviously Saturday.
So today could be really big for the Colts's development

(01:44:24):
and their ability to see some real live action against
players that obviously are banged up. But you know, for
the most part, the rest of the starters you know
that are that are going to be playing on Sundays.

Speaker 1 (01:44:33):
All right? Coming up in a moment, we will we
got a you gotta know today, Mark, So we have coming.

Speaker 4 (01:44:37):
I always have to know.

Speaker 2 (01:44:38):
But yeah, especially today, I feel like we should dust
that one often get into some things.

Speaker 1 (01:44:42):
That's coming up in a moment. In the meantime, let's
check things down.

Speaker 8 (01:44:46):
The morning checkdown on ninety sweet five and one oh
seven five fan.

Speaker 1 (01:44:51):
You know by now you've been listening all morning long.
It's three o'clock this afternoon. Joint practice with the Green
Bay Packers and the Indianapolis Colts.

Speaker 2 (01:44:59):
Hit like crack all of a sudden. I haven't done
that in like ten minutes. That was a good feeling
right there.

Speaker 1 (01:45:04):
It's just it's just muscle memory, now, isn't it.

Speaker 6 (01:45:06):
Well?

Speaker 4 (01:45:06):
I had to restrain myself because Doug was on, and
then I was I was having fingernailed prints on the
table right now?

Speaker 1 (01:45:12):
Yeah, what is it going to be a pretty much
a fifty to fifty breakdown for the two quarterbacks today
and joint practices?

Speaker 4 (01:45:17):
I would imagine it's been fifty to fifty pretty much
the entire the entirety of camp.

Speaker 1 (01:45:21):
So yes, all right, and obviously you still don't get
to hit the quarterback today either, right do they?

Speaker 4 (01:45:28):
I would assume it? Does it take a while?

Speaker 3 (01:45:30):
Guess wait, is this a serious question hitting the quarterback?

Speaker 7 (01:45:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:45:36):
I was like, is that a serious question?

Speaker 1 (01:45:37):
No, just letting people know?

Speaker 3 (01:45:39):
Oh no, No, can you imagine you imagine the brawl
out happened if one of these quarterbacks got hit?

Speaker 1 (01:45:44):
Now, the punch your point to the point of you've
been talking about the fact that several times completions are
made and in your mind, James, A wouldn't really be
completions during a regular game.

Speaker 4 (01:45:54):
Oh yeah, that doesn't mean you get to hit the
quarterback and join practice.

Speaker 3 (01:45:57):
Red jerseys, red jerseys, red Ers.

Speaker 2 (01:45:59):
Only time the quarterback getting hit is if a six
year old's on a bike aiming straight at him.

Speaker 3 (01:46:03):
I know that was That was the rumor, just to
lay it out for you guys later on Today.

Speaker 1 (01:46:07):
It's a schedule at least for the NBA, and the
Pacers already know their opening game. We learned that last week.
We know when they're gonna play in the Commissioner's Cup,
but we want to know when the Milwaukee Bucks are
coming to down right, James.

Speaker 4 (01:46:20):
I do I need to know when?

Speaker 3 (01:46:23):
I know?

Speaker 4 (01:46:24):
I think he probably checked is well I'm gonna be
someone in the YouTube. Chatter on the text line was like,
do you think Miles Turner wants to know? Absolutely? That's
the first game he's checking. God, I know where you're
going back to any territory.

Speaker 3 (01:46:35):
Now, there's no way he plays well in that game, right,
I wouldn't say that now, really do you think he's
mentally equipped for.

Speaker 4 (01:46:43):
All that he's got Giannis, No, he doesn't have them,
so that helps.

Speaker 3 (01:46:49):
I don't know, but we have John Halliburton.

Speaker 4 (01:46:51):
Is he gonna get on the face after the game?
And you know if the Pacers winning wave the towel
and Miles his face, I just think that he'll be
He'll play fine. I mean, he's used to the environment,
used to the gym. Would that be the first sellout
for an environment?

Speaker 1 (01:47:03):
Though?

Speaker 3 (01:47:03):
Then he's used to in this building.

Speaker 2 (01:47:05):
Will the will Miles Turner's return game be the first
game to sell out when tickets go on sale season?

Speaker 4 (01:47:11):
Probably? Honestly, will that be the hottest tickets schedule? I
would certainly want to be there as a fan of
media member.

Speaker 3 (01:47:17):
I think, like you don't have the webin yama. I'm
trying to you know, Cooper Flag. I guess will play one.

Speaker 4 (01:47:22):
The only one.

Speaker 2 (01:47:23):
The other one would be like the season opener against
the Thunder. But I would have to think like the bizazz,
like the big game, the one that everyone's going to
be wanting to go to is when Myles Turner comes back.

Speaker 1 (01:47:33):
Does the winner get a game ball?

Speaker 4 (01:47:35):
The game doesn't mean.

Speaker 1 (01:47:36):
Hand by John Albert.

Speaker 4 (01:47:37):
Yeah, I think that Miles Will could have a good
game coming back. Seriously, Okay, I think that circle.

Speaker 3 (01:47:44):
That the game.

Speaker 1 (01:47:45):
Get back to that later on down the line.

Speaker 4 (01:47:47):
Oh yeah, uh.

Speaker 1 (01:47:48):
Major League Baseball. Last night the Reds Kevin inching to
within a game of a playoff spot the win. You're
going all in. I'm I'll go on and all in
with you. With the Reds. They beat the phillast by
a score of eight to nothing. Things were going well,
Hunter Green now five and three, then two point four
to seven. Nice to see him back on the mat.

Speaker 3 (01:48:08):
I would agree. So great work by the Reds. The
Mets are absolutely railing. Here we go. Can we get
Red's Cubs? I guess, how does the wildcard even work?

Speaker 1 (01:48:18):
Well? If Milwaukee wins the whole the division and the red.

Speaker 4 (01:48:22):
Giving that up, I mean they're red hot.

Speaker 3 (01:48:24):
What's what's the bracket? The wildcard teams and the worst
division winner play each other? Is that how it works?

Speaker 6 (01:48:30):
So?

Speaker 3 (01:48:30):
Yeah, so it would be possible.

Speaker 2 (01:48:31):
Then you could be okay, boy, then we'll really have
to be finding Mondo's in Texas here.

Speaker 3 (01:48:35):
Lord, man, I'm gonna be going to Antarctica to try and.

Speaker 4 (01:48:40):
Told you I'm coming up with like ninety snacks. They're discontinued, Like, okay, Kevin,
find them, go ahead, go find them. Peebee crisps, do
you remember those? There was a peanut butter.

Speaker 2 (01:48:51):
It looked like peanut butter peanuts shells, but inside was
like creamy peanut butter.

Speaker 3 (01:48:56):
Oh that actually sounds good.

Speaker 4 (01:48:57):
It was amazing. They were delicious. Torito's three D's also great.

Speaker 3 (01:49:02):
I thought Dorito's three D's were overrated. And I'm coming
for You're coming from someone that half his diet is
Doritos Alfredo. Yeah, that's probe me.

Speaker 1 (01:49:13):
After the show, Mark, there's a secret stash of nachos
of doritos here at the station.

Speaker 4 (01:49:20):
Say no more?

Speaker 3 (01:49:21):
Can you tell me this?

Speaker 1 (01:49:22):
Or is this this is I'll show you.

Speaker 4 (01:49:25):
Let's do a show trip to the Janders closet. Well
nervous seven minutes in heaven.

Speaker 3 (01:49:30):
I'm little nervous there. If Tracy and his girlfriend are
waiting for you.

Speaker 1 (01:49:33):
Then my goodness, gracious, all right, coming up in a moment.
Mark's gotta know he's got questions. We'll try to have answers.
It's next ninety three five seven fan. Everybody over here
with the heads bobbing up and down, head banging over.

Speaker 4 (01:49:48):
Here, Mark, let's go this is Kevin's favorite Papa road.
Let's actually, but Kevin ll likes to think that.

Speaker 3 (01:49:59):
We need this about two fifty nine to day. I
know these teams are getting together.

Speaker 4 (01:50:03):
Right after my motivational speech, we'll play role. I would
honestly love to see that. Mark would probably stand out
there and tell you men, let's talk about hate and
how much we need to conquer the day again.

Speaker 3 (01:50:16):
Shout out to good Jimmy. He suggests it suggested that
Mark get a little pa system run here with this
packer sounder. Not only today in Westfield, but I believe
Saturday inside of Lucas.

Speaker 4 (01:50:27):
Like Mark would end his like statement by like taking
a cheese and like just punting it. I do a
lot worse than that. I'd be dropping trow. I think
maybe I was gonna say, maybe think of those guys
over there.

Speaker 1 (01:50:39):
I was gonna say, maybe Mark can bang the andvill
But now I'm reconsidering I would I would.

Speaker 4 (01:50:44):
Count the only ones making fertilizer.

Speaker 1 (01:50:48):
Or the pretzels. No, that's the case. Maybe all right, Mark,
it's your time to shine once again. You're at ninety
through five and one fan.

Speaker 8 (01:50:56):
He's got questions, how about a game?

Speaker 1 (01:50:59):
You've got answer?

Speaker 5 (01:51:00):
Hey, I'm more of a you know, a corn hoole
man myself.

Speaker 8 (01:51:03):
Sports music, movies, what high fashion.

Speaker 3 (01:51:07):
Bet hats all so hot right now.

Speaker 8 (01:51:09):
And everything in between. You understand foot With four to two,
it's time to get a glimpse into the mind of
Mark dyk Din Stop it, you're scaring me. It's time
for I gotta know. Okay, you pump. I want a good,
clean fight. Let's get it off.

Speaker 4 (01:51:28):
All right, boys, Let's start off real simple here. It's
true or false. By this time next.

Speaker 2 (01:51:33):
Week, the Colts will announced their Week one starting quarterback.

Speaker 1 (01:51:39):
True.

Speaker 4 (01:51:41):
They will announce the starting quarterback sometime next week after
this week's preseason game, and we will know going into
the last preseason game in Cincinnati who the starting quarterback is. True.

Speaker 1 (01:51:55):
I'm not convinced that they don't already know. I just
don't feel like Daniel Jess done enough. And I know
you guys have said he's had some solid days up there.
I just can't imagine them taking that starting spot away
from Anthony Richardson right at the beginning. Now, if he
loses it over the course, of one or two games
because of his play. I get that, but man, they

(01:52:15):
are they seem to be tied to him, despite what
they say publicly. Deep down, I feel like they're tied
to Anthony Richardson.

Speaker 3 (01:52:22):
So you don't believe the opposte of if you start
Anthony Richardson as soon as you bench him, then the
season's over and that's bad.

Speaker 1 (01:52:29):
Pr I think if he gets bench now or after
a couple of games in the season, that's the end
of him here. One way or the other.

Speaker 3 (01:52:35):
You can't go back to him. If you start Daniel
Jones and he's bad, you might have to.

Speaker 1 (01:52:38):
If it gets hurt. But man, I don't just start.

Speaker 3 (01:52:42):
A great question mark. I'll give a very soft true.
I don't see Shane super married to wanting to carry
this out through the Cincinnati game. Now again, today's last day.
We watched the Colton of full practice setting year after today,
all will watch his you know, twenty thirty minutes. So

(01:53:04):
I mean, I guess to Shane feel the need to
publicly say that, I don't. Shane doesn't strike he as
a guy that would go out of his way for
that either. So yeah, a very soft true.

Speaker 4 (01:53:17):
Okay, broach this topic with you guys yesterday off air,
but I thought it was a good on air topic
to bring up.

Speaker 2 (01:53:22):
What would determine a successful season for Anthony Richardson in
your mind? Now this doesn't have to be purely statistical.
It could be, but just what is success for Anthony
Richardson in twenty twenty five in your mind? Play at
least fourteen games.

Speaker 4 (01:53:36):
That way, you at least can successfully evaluate if you
want to keep him around, because the conversation to the
first two years is, well, he's been hurt. Eh. If
he hadn't got hurt, eh, what if he was healthy, Well,
play fourteen games and more. If you don't, there's your answer,
he's not your guy.

Speaker 3 (01:53:53):
Yeah, I think he That is the obvious one availability.
But he also has got to show you something as
a quarterback because when you say successful mark to me,
that means you're picking up his fifth year option. If
you're picking up his fifth year option, that is a
huge financial increase. That means he's got to show you
more than just simply playing quarterback. Like, yeah, I mean,
that's obviously a huge part of it, but he also

(01:54:16):
has got to show you that the arrow is back
pointing up on his individual play. So what's that. More accuracy,
more methodical passing, game less turnovers, just a little bit
more weak to week consistency than we've seen.

Speaker 1 (01:54:33):
The ability to stay healthy and move the chains. And
I'm going to go one step further. I think this
entire team, it's a referendum on the general manager, the
head coach, the quarterback. Not he needs to stay healthy.
They've got to find a way to make the playoffs fair.
And that's it. To me, it's all or nothing for
them in this entire group.

Speaker 4 (01:54:51):
They missed the playoffs. Yeah, probably everyone is on a
very very hot seat.

Speaker 3 (01:54:56):
I mean, what if Richardson looks great and the defense
looks like louisn Rumo's defense of Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (01:55:02):
I still feel like you can make that You can
make that decision that your eyes will tell you that, Okay, well,
he's actually showing the strides that we need to be
seeing from him. The defense, that's obviously disappointing. But if
you're seeing Anthony Richardson show like exponential growth, then I
feel like you feel really good heading into the next
year plus with him.

Speaker 1 (01:55:22):
Does that by Shane Steich in another year and you
say you know, the Colt's front office says, hey, we've
seen him develop this young quarterback. He's good boy.

Speaker 3 (01:55:32):
I can't let my mind go there just yet. I
mean that, just that general thought confuses the hell out
of me, because, yeah, if Richardson Richardson has a great
quarterback year for him, your defense is one of the
worst in the league. First year defensive coordinator or whatever whatever,
growing pains every part of you is like, oh yeah,

(01:55:54):
you fire ballad and psych him. So now Richardson is
with a new offense.

Speaker 1 (01:55:59):
Which can't be good for him.

Speaker 3 (01:56:00):
No, at that point, and this is why it makes
the season. If you don't laugh, then you're gonna cry.

Speaker 1 (01:56:07):
That's why it's a great question.

Speaker 2 (01:56:08):
Yeah, minus minus can he show? Can he show a
ten percent improvement on completion percent?

Speaker 5 (01:56:13):
Boy?

Speaker 3 (01:56:13):
Mark?

Speaker 4 (01:56:14):
That's okay, big listen Caney and a half on the.

Speaker 1 (01:56:19):
Front cover of Playgirl.

Speaker 2 (01:56:21):
He was at forty seven percent last year forty seven percent,
So a ten percent increases fifty seven.

Speaker 4 (01:56:28):
That's still below the league average. He's still not great.

Speaker 1 (01:56:31):
I get, but that's a big step. Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:56:34):
You also, does he want to get a fifty year
contract option picked up? Does he want to big many
contract that I like to stop playing like a I
think you're persuading me, Well, would Baker Mayfield have seventy
one percent a different stratosphere? Yeah, we're talking about a
Heisman winner ten.

Speaker 5 (01:56:48):
But you don't.

Speaker 3 (01:56:49):
To Mark's point, you don't need Baker Mayfield no, like
with his big playability, assuming that is still there. I
don't think the deep balls has effected what usually is.
You could live around upper fifties turnovers can't be there though, right.

Speaker 4 (01:57:04):
All right, let's switch the topic. What is your biggest fear?

Speaker 3 (01:57:08):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:57:08):
Lord?

Speaker 4 (01:57:09):
Like for me, it's get on the couch. I don't
like snakes.

Speaker 2 (01:57:12):
I don't like I pet a snake before, but like
you bring an anaconda or like a water moccasin. Er, no,
thank you, hard pass on that. I think I am
a little like Indiana Jones in that regard. I don't
like snakes. That's where they that's where the similarities end usually.

Speaker 3 (01:57:26):
But snakes actually aren't too bad for me. It's definitely heights.

Speaker 4 (01:57:31):
So are you and are you a nervous flyer then?
Or no?

Speaker 3 (01:57:35):
Shockingly I'm not, I'm not, but any sort of like
you know, ledge building. I remember we were in Niagara Falls,
like just kind of looking over and I'm like, yeah,
Luckily I'm six three. I can see down there from
back here. I don't need to walk too too close.

(01:57:55):
So yeah, it's definitely hights. But yeah, Mark, flying has
never been an issue for me, even like super bad turbulence.
It's not like the end of the world for me.

Speaker 6 (01:58:04):
There.

Speaker 1 (01:58:05):
I'm gonna agree with Kevin. I am one hundred percent
both not comfortable being way up high. But flights don't
bother me at all. And I don't know there's probably
some study psychology study on that, but I'm right there
with you. I don't like being near ledges, way up
up out of stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:58:23):
Well I'll tell you why flying doesn't scare me is
because if I'm up there and something goes wrong, well.

Speaker 1 (01:58:27):
It's the landing, not the flying.

Speaker 4 (01:58:28):
Hey, I don't have many options, but I'll probably say
mine is water, like big bodies of water. I'm just like, man,
whenever I see like a natural disaster or something like that,
I'm like, Wow, that is water is scary to me.
There's a lot that we don't know about the ocean,
and so I tend to try to keep, you know,
close to land. Or you know, stay away from areas

(01:58:49):
where I can see land. Yeah, I don't think I
would ever do a cruise where I can't see actual
land in front of me. I'm not saying water, anything's
wrong with like going to the beach or something like that.
But if I can't see any land, na, I cont
me out. Oh yeah, like open water, that movie back Jaws,
guard Man cruise. I'm not sure. I haven't been on
a boat long enough to know if I'll get sick

(01:59:10):
on a cruise. But a cruise, yeah, got that does
not excite me? Or no, I don't want to go.

Speaker 1 (01:59:16):
I've always felt that way. But I did go with
the family on a Disney cruise several years ago. In fact,
right before COVID we got. The last day that we
came into port was when they shut everything down. Uh,
when they started shutting all the tournaments down and everything
like that.

Speaker 3 (01:59:29):
I was surprised.

Speaker 1 (01:59:30):
I had a pretty good time.

Speaker 4 (01:59:31):
Sounds like you were patient zero is what. It just
sounded like you brought everything here, no, and we were good.

Speaker 3 (01:59:37):
One thing I thought was cool, do you guys see
like Michael Phelps and some other obviously staff members like
helped some of the Ravens that didn't learn, didn't know
how to swim.

Speaker 5 (01:59:45):
I did see that the other day.

Speaker 3 (01:59:47):
I thought that was crazy though, really cool watching some
of that video, Like I saw one of Rokwan Smith. Yeah,
I thought that was really cool. And for those curious,
like Phelps is a huge Ravens fan, he's from the
from the area. Yeah, so yeah, I I thought that
was cool.

Speaker 4 (02:00:00):
So I saw that they had him and Ray Lewis
speak to the team and give him motivational speeches, and
I was like, wow, like talk about two guys that
have done amazing things. And from Michael Phelps, He's like, yeah,
you know, I knew when I got up there, I
was the most apparent swimmer in the world. And you know,
twenty three Olympic gold medals later, I could say I
was the best ever. I'm like, twenty three Olympic gold
medals insane. I'll never forget Beijing oait like going eight

(02:00:22):
for a that might be the greatest athletic feet I've
ever seen.

Speaker 3 (02:00:26):
Jason lez Is right there in the final relay. Do
you remember his cast?

Speaker 4 (02:00:33):
Like oh my god, like the like the you're not
supposed to do the half swim whatever stretch and he
did it anyway and broke like a cardinal sinem swimming
in one that was I don't think I'll ever see
an athletic feet that spectacular. And I think what attitude
is because it only happens every four years. So if
he had missed out, I mean, every everyone was gonna
disappointed if he went seven for eight, which is crazy.

(02:00:55):
Last but not least, what are we watching?

Speaker 3 (02:00:58):
Hey, judge me if you want, I think to might
be a little New Heights night in the Bowen Household.

Speaker 4 (02:01:02):
Oh okay, Taylor Swift episode.

Speaker 3 (02:01:05):
I said to Mattie last night, should we dial it up?

Speaker 6 (02:01:07):
So?

Speaker 3 (02:01:07):
Did YouTube?

Speaker 1 (02:01:08):
Brett?

Speaker 3 (02:01:08):
Did it cut off? Did I see this correctly? And
did not?

Speaker 4 (02:01:10):
It crashed the stream? Yeah, there were one point two
million in there at one point watching it live.

Speaker 3 (02:01:16):
And saying Taylor Swift on Travis Kelsey's podcast for those
that she was.

Speaker 4 (02:01:19):
Talking about cover zero, cover four, cover two, she said,
give her sixteen months.

Speaker 3 (02:01:25):
Shout out to Xavier Worthy. So now all of a sudden,
his stock's going up in fantasy football drafts here. So yeah,
I don't know, Maybe we'll New Heights it up tonight.

Speaker 4 (02:01:34):
I did love how she trolled the you know, probably
misogynistic fans because she said me and Travis are the
same things. We go to NFL Stadium, we entertain people
for three hours, and I was like, you know what,
respect she probably has more people in there than them.
Oh yeah, they just a lot smaller for you know,
an artist.

Speaker 2 (02:01:49):
That's on the watch list. We watched the first part
of Wednesday season two. That's good, and then I started
watching Alien Earth, which is the first series of the
Alien movies.

Speaker 4 (02:01:58):
I was kind of intrigued by it.

Speaker 1 (02:01:59):
Very good.

Speaker 4 (02:02:00):
Okay, I kind of took that out. I saw that
pop up. Is it on Prime? I think lu Hulu
because I am now. Oh, I just finished up Land Man.
That was fantastic. That show is hilarious. It's kind of deep,
it's it's it's crazy, you know. I thought the lead
actor in it and is it Billy Bob Thornton. He
was phenomenal in this show. I mean, just awesome acting.

(02:02:23):
It's all it's based out of like West Texas. Kind
of gave me like Friday Night Lights vibes, but it's
all about oil and it is. It is unlike anything
I've ever watched. It was a great, great episode or
a great season actually, and I'm excady for season two.

Speaker 1 (02:02:37):
I just finished up I think called my song close
and is probably because I came back from France and
it looked interesting to me. It's about essentially a brothel
in eighteen seventies Paris, but it's really about power dynamics
and it was kind of kind of interesting and fun
to watch. I finished that up last night, so I'm
looking for so I may do the Paramount plus Land. Man,
you got me interested in that and the clips that

(02:02:58):
I've seen I made over there to night.

Speaker 4 (02:02:59):
Yeah, I will vouch for that show.

Speaker 1 (02:03:01):
It is good.

Speaker 4 (02:03:01):
All might watch it again. Watching brothels shows now you're
getting Yeah, yeah, I've seen.

Speaker 3 (02:03:07):
A lead character was named Tracy Vera.

Speaker 1 (02:03:12):
Vera was the lead character. So there you go. Great
work as always, he's the best park Thankton. Ninety three
five and one O seven to five. The fan rolls on.
We'll get to the text line coming up in a minute.
Some pretty good questions and statements there doing the next
ninety three five one seven fan.

Speaker 5 (02:03:29):
Fan.

Speaker 1 (02:03:33):
Most folks from this show are going to be out
at Colt's Camp Grant Park later on Tay. Last day
out at Graham Park and last day for a public
to see any kind of real practice moving forward? How
much practice do you guys get to see out at
West fifty sixth each day.

Speaker 4 (02:03:49):
This is the last full practice we'll watch, and then
afterwards when we move over to West fifty sixth Street
over the team facility is just stretching in attendance basically
from there the rest of the season.

Speaker 1 (02:04:01):
So this is uh gonna be your last full look
Kevin Bowen for a while, and you just have to
rely on what they tell you for practice moving forward,
and that's just kind of how it works. So it'll
be fun to see them going up against the Green
Bay Packers later on today, Mark Dyton and mar Chance
there and people loving Mark Dyton or as one text
says at two three nine ten seventy, vacation Dyke, and

(02:04:24):
Derek says vacation dykeon as JMV calls him.

Speaker 7 (02:04:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:04:27):
He also said my biggest fear is actually running out
of PTL, which that might be actually he might be
right there. I got the sweats going, I know you
asked me. I thought of the scene in Coach Carter.
He's like, what's my biggest fear? My biggest fear is
that we're inadequate and we.

Speaker 4 (02:04:42):
Don't find out who we are?

Speaker 3 (02:04:43):
What was that like with that cruise?

Speaker 4 (02:04:46):
That was cruise? And I haven't watched Coach Carter oh Man,
good decade.

Speaker 3 (02:04:49):
Okay, so that's such a movie coach quote.

Speaker 4 (02:04:53):
Yeah, no, I you know what's funny about this movie
to me, because it's a comedy to me at this
point when I go back and watch it, I think
he said something like they had to have like a
I don't know, a two point I don't know what
would maybe a two point two to like be Elgible
played the sea. You would have thought he asked these
people that think kids, I'd have four point ohers. He said, oh,
you gotta have a two point two to be to

(02:05:13):
be eligible to play. And they lost their minds in
this movie that that movie is a comedy to.

Speaker 3 (02:05:18):
Me, this from Q yesterday. It's just still his only
fans today it's brothels and not safe for work images
as Jeff going through a midlife crisis or his is
his wife on vacation. Woo, you got some explaining to do?

Speaker 1 (02:05:33):
Ooh my yeah, see, uh that's an interesting I'm gonna
have to look at that key. That's an interesting observation.
But again I had nothing to do with the picture
said to me nothing. I was an innocent Bystam.

Speaker 4 (02:05:45):
Just make sure you get that same explanation when you
get home today. Now, if we walk in, if I
walk intomorrow and Jeff got a black eye, I won't
be asking any questions.

Speaker 1 (02:05:52):
You know, people want to know about the tight ends
and Will Mallory Kevin Bowen, what do we know there?

Speaker 3 (02:05:57):
I think he's been one of the better players in
camp James. If I in a list of I don't know,
five or ten of the best colts in Grand Park,
number eighty six, Will Mallory the nephew of Bill Kurt,
I don't know. I should probably look up the Mallory
family tree, but yes, he is part of that Mallory
family tree. Played at Miami, ran the fastest forty if
any two of the combine a few years ago, year three.

(02:06:19):
I think he makes a team. I don't Viewlanni was
as a debate. I view Will Mallory as on the
football team, more of a receiver than a blocker at
tight end.

Speaker 1 (02:06:28):
Jason wants to He's just letting us know that he
feels sorry for us having to suffer through the Colts
quarterback situation for the next several weeks. Maybe they can
talk Richardson into tight end. He can't play quarterback. Maybe
you can catch.

Speaker 4 (02:06:40):
He's not a serious person. And so yeah, I'm curious
to see when they named the starter. That's my biggest thing.
But I get the joke. But no, Anthony is a
quarterback and he will remain a quarterback.

Speaker 1 (02:06:53):
Here's one that says Mark's biggest fear is having parental
controls put on his Google searches.

Speaker 4 (02:06:58):
Oh, I would fight whoever did that. I'm gonna say,
you will be in fairness, you are not the one
watching the Brothels show. No, that's true, that's my watch
list's clean. Yep, as far as everybody knows.

Speaker 1 (02:07:10):
I like that. What else do we have going on here?
Jeff with a G says, if Richardson doesn't show up
or show us he's the guy this year, then Ballard
won't have to worry about picking up his fifth year
contract because he won't be here to make that decision.
God willing more and more people falling into.

Speaker 3 (02:07:27):
That Killif it's not like the fifth year option goes away,
somebody's going to have to make that decision, whether it's
Chris Ballard or whether it's a new GM, So you
know there might be some people honestly that view that
is the most important thing of this entire twenty twenty
five season.

Speaker 1 (02:07:41):
All right, that's what's going on as far as the
culture concern. We've got the schedule release later on today
for the entire NBA. You know a couple of things
about the UH Pacers already, which we've been talking about
throughout the morning. But I think we all agree that
the biggest thing we're looking forward today is when is
Miles Turner coming back to town. That'll be fun.

Speaker 4 (02:08:00):
Oh, we will certainly have an answer for you tomorrow,
and then I think it'll be.

Speaker 1 (02:08:04):
On and Poppin looking forward to that again. Jake Query
comes your way at noon today from noon to three,
and if you can't make it out to Grand Park
you don't have the tickets to go up there, you
can listen to JMB. He'll be up there from three
to six, and anything significantly happens up there, we'll report
on it as soon as we have the opportunity to
do so. So that'll take care of your entire broadcast

(02:08:25):
day for you. Mark Great job out of you again today.
Got to know, did you learn some things? I hope
pucker suck.

Speaker 4 (02:08:31):
I figured I already knew that bit. I'm always happy.

Speaker 1 (02:08:33):
To know it all right. For Mark, Kevin Bowen, James Boyd.
I'm jeff Rickard and this is the Fan Morning Show
on ninety three five and one Fan Packer Suck.
