Speaker 1 (00:00):
I just have one question for you, guys. Did anybody
go all the way through the night? Did everybody sleep
all night long? Eighteen innings of World Series baseball last night,
after the Chiefs got a dominant win over the Washington Commanders.
But what a night in sports? James, you just told
me you stayed up for all.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Of the baseball game last night. Yes, because I'm the
real esports fan on the show. The rest of your frauds.
But I think the real answer there is the rest
of you have families and responsibilities. I was thinking, if
I stay up late, the only person who has to
get up and get dressed and do things the next
day is me. I don't got to worry aout anybody else.
But yes, that was worth the way. The defensive plays
made in that game were incredible, the pitching was incredible.
(00:38):
And then Freddie Freeman there in the bottom of the
eighteenth walk off home er. I believe they said he
was like the second or actually the first player to
have multiple walk off home runs in the World Series.
He had won last year as well. So great player,
great game. And yeah, they technically have a game today
right again, so tonight think they ad show Hey after
(00:58):
the game what he wanted to do to cover and
get ready to be on the mound, and he said,
I just want to go to sleep. And I was like,
I relate to that brother.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Kevin Bowen. Sho heo TONI before they just decided we
can't pitch this guy anymore last night, two doubles, two
home runs, five walks. He did get thrown out on
base in extra innings once because he overslid the base.
But this guy continues to do things that are just
historical almost every time he goes out on the field.
(01:25):
It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
So he reached base every time, right, nine times nine?
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Is that?
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Is that pretty good?
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:32):
I think you know, when we talk sports like grand picture,
it's like, all right, what do stars do in the
grandest stage? I mean, how about the postseason show? Hey,
Tony's had I mean it's you know, he has taken
his already incredible individual talent and individual talent I mean
as a pitcher and as a hitter, and now in
the biggest stage, he has taken it to another level.
(01:53):
Shout out to Bloomington's own will climb pitching there for
the Dodgers for innings to end it there, I bailed
when Kershaw got out of the twelfth. That was a
pretty I thought, a pretty cool moment there for him
to come in get them out of a basis loaded jam.
So yeah, it delivered last night, which was needed because
Monday Night football really didn't deliver.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
I went to bed after show. I got thrown out
at second. I'm like, okay, I'm going to bed. I
need a nap.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
And then I Jeff was like, did you get some sleep?
Speaker 5 (02:20):
I'm like, yeah, I slept all right, And I realized
it went to eighteen innings. I'm like, oh, that's why
he was asking.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
I didn't.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
I'm glad I didn't step for that.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Kevin. I want to go deeper on what you said
there about how it's amazing how stars just shine in
the biggest moments and have always thought that. We talk
about Otani, we talk about Freddie Freeman, who's you know,
a multi time if you're not a Dodgers fan, a
fender in the postseason. He just keeps coming up in
the clutch and he hit the game winning home run
last night. But even look at the Monday night football game. Yeah,
it was a kind of a boring game in the
(02:48):
second half because the Chiefs got control of it, ran
away with it, and that was kind of that. But
on the brightest stage, every time Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelcey,
there they are. They just keep every time there's the
bright lights are on, those guys step up.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Well a little human moments early in the game from them,
and the Commanders did nothing with it. You get two interceptions.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
There in the first was were they both in the
first quarter?
Speaker 3 (03:11):
They both them in the first half, and when they
came away empty handed, Yeah, you knew it was.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Over after that.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
I don't think Marcus Marriott and the Commanders are making
up for two scoreless interceptions there off of that. So, yes,
the Kansas City Chiefs have arrived. And if the playoffs
started today, your three wild card quarterbacks, justin Herbert Josh Allen,
Patrick Mahomes, how about those three.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
On the road in round one?
Speaker 2 (03:37):
I want to see any of those guys.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Do you think the Colts need to go out and
get a pass rusher or a corner. I would like
to see them do something one week from today, this week,
I think that would make some sense.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
It would make some sense. And also we start to
look ahead. I know you don't want to get too
far ahead, because there's a lot to do right. Got
to go to Pittsburgh this week. Just keep taking care
of business. Shane Stiken talked about the fact that the
season really begins in November and December. It's how you
set yourself up for that second half. They've certainly set
themselves up in a positive way so far, so at Pittsburgh.
(04:08):
Then they play the overseas game against the Falcons, then
they have a bye man that game in Kansas City.
If Kansas City continues to stay right, James, that that's
gonna be a big regular season game.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Absolutely. I mean you already have a little bit of
trash talk being shared by Isaiah Franklin saying that Juju
Smith Schuster deserves to have his you know what beat,
and that is something I would imagine that that team
has not forgotten. So when that matchup rolls around, certainly
everyone's eyes will be on it for sure. But yeah,
and I also think that push back a little. Stiken
(04:44):
is like the complete opposite of like the November December guy.
We asked him about that and he said, yeah, no,
we need to win now every game, and he's obsessive
like that, and weird like that to a degree, like
he's the anti cliche and then also the cliche in
all of the things. It just depends on the day.
I guess sometimes we're saying, but no, he's he's been
very seventeen to no, right, yeah, but no, he's been
(05:06):
very very adamant about like, yeah, he doesn't really believe
in the November December thing and playing your besketball second
half of the year like nah, he was like, no,
what we should do keep winning? And so being at
seven to one, best record in the league, I would
imagine he has an idea of how to keep doing that.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Yeah, And there was a nice article in the Star
of this morning too talking kind of about that, and
he said, it's you set yourself up to the for
November December, is essentially what he was trying to say.
But you look a couple of years ago, both Tennessee
and Jacksonville have had second half collapses, Kevin, and in
Tennessee's case, they never really recovered from the one that
they had.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yeah, and a lot of self infliction, I would argue
on that aspect to it. But yeah, the schedule definitely
shifts the ships majorly in locations atmosphere. Six of your
final nine on the road, and I think definitely in competition,
although Pittsburgh has reail out a bit and their defenses
really struggled, particularly their past defense. So there's a reason
why the Colts are a road favorite. I think a
(06:01):
field will favorite coming up on Sunday in a place
that as the Indianapolis Colts, they have only won once.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Well, it's gonna be a lot of fun to watch
the rest of the season. When you start off seven
and one and everybody is going as hard as they're going.
That's always fun to watch too. One other thing before,
we wanted some other things at the beginning here before
we tell you about all the great guests we have
coming up in a minute here, you talk about human moments.
Last night in Kansas City. I don't know if you
guys caught this, but there's a point late in the
game Isaiah Pacheco hurt his knee. It got twisted up
(06:29):
a little bit. They take him over to the sideline
and the cameras show the trainers working on it. You know,
they do that thing where they're testing the stability of
it and the mobility of it. And after about thirty
seconds of that, the trainer pats him on the top
of the thigh pad and kind of says, you're okay.
And Isaiah Pacheka, you would think he had just scored
a touchdown. Man. He jumps up and he's fist pumping,
(06:49):
and you can tell the young man is incredibly relieved
that everything's gonna be okay. That was a fun moment
to watch.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
James, Yeah, I missed it, so I'll take your word
for Kevin kind of said, I'm not gonna lie. I
was all over last I was locked in with the
World Series for a change.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
Yeah, it was fun to watch. Now, as far as
guests are concerned, Doug Bowles coming up at seven forty five,
they're already starting to think about next year's indy five
hundred in the month of May, and he's going to
share with us some of the new and different things
that they've got going on there and why we start
getting excited about that right now, you guys will have
a conversation as you do during the season every Tuesday
with Rick Carlisles Trade at eight o'clock, even though the
time zone is different, right.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Kevin, Yes, he's gonna join us here, coming up at eight.
They are in Dallas. They will take on the Mavericks.
I think the Mavericks are winless, if I'm not mistaken.
They'll take them on tomorrow. And I will see about
Cooper Flagg. I know he got a little banged up
last night playing through a left shoulder injury. And we'll
see if mac McClung I guess has joined the Pacers
or will join the Pacers at some point here today.
(07:49):
That announcement yesterday, So again they started the season with
four centers and really kind of one point guard. I
was curious how long that would last, and then more
injuries piled up on it. So Jane Wiseman, the player
that was cut yesterday for mac McClung, I think we
were used to his dunk exploits. Certainly he was the
one of the dunk contests right here at Lucas Ohl Stadium,
(08:10):
among three of them that he's won in his mostly
G League career six NBA games. I probably remember him
more for his outside the dunk, of course, more for
his college days at Georgetown and then I think a
year at Texas Tech. So we'll see how quickly he
can get up to speed and how you know, many
minutes he could play tomorrow night. As wild as that
might sound.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Well, it's gonna be a wild ride for the Indiana Pacers.
We'll get the latest thoughts on what do we have
now seven guys that were unavailable in the in the
second half of that game the other night, and we'll
maybe we'll get some updates on how some of those
guys are progressing. With Rick. That's coming your way at
eight o'clock, and then jul a ericson at nine as
he does every Tuesday, to talk a little bit more
about the Colts. I know that they were off yesterday,
(08:52):
but we'd come up in a minute. We'll find out
what maybe some of the thoughts from Shane Stikeen were
yesterday on where we are.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
This season really starts in November December again.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Like you said, depends sometimes on winter which day you
can exactly.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
I'm like, you're a seven and one. I think those
games count two, so they all add up.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
All right. We'll be talking about all of those things.
We'll take your feedback throughout the morning as well in
the fan text line two three nine ten seventy and
of course you can call us up anytime at two
three nine ten seventy and we'll fit you in somewhere
between all the guests. But it's going to be a
tremendous Tuesday. Glad you're with us here at ninety three
five and one oh seven five the Fan. Good morning, everyone,
Welcome into the Fan Morning Show. Kevin Bowen, James Boyd,
(09:32):
Mark Dyke, that I'm jeff Rickard and a busy night
in baseball and all of sports. Last night, it's the
World Series. The series tied at one game of piece show,
hey Otani already four extra base hits, He'd walked several times.
He reached base a record nine times, two home runs,
two doubles, but it was all tied at five in
the extra innings, and then, as Olden Gonzalez wrote this morning,
(09:56):
on the six hundred and ninety ninth pitch in the
three hundred and ninety ninth minute against the nineteenth pitcher
deployed in the third game of the World Series, Freddie
Freeman saw a full count sinker that sailed toward the
middle of the strike zone. Los Angeles Coltman's a five
out of silver Pool bar Show's going back.
Speaker 6 (10:14):
He pulled that put the last word hot up.
Speaker 7 (10:24):
Game three, costict.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
And there you go. Freddie Freeman, a hero of last
year's World Series, a hero of Game three last night,
and James Boyd watched every single inning of it up
until three o'clock this morning. I did, and I.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Saw when I tweeted Freddy Freeman and Capitol Letters just
kind of screaming. And I guess on social media because
I didn't do it in person, that would be just
rude to my neighbors. But christ niy was like, wow,
you got to show in a couple of hours. I'm like,
you know, don't remind me. So made it here on time,
and then you know, I'm feeling pretty good and it
was worth it. I just figured, hey, I want to
be able to say I watched one of the best
baseball games and the history of the sport, and it
(11:02):
certainly little to the hype man like I said that
he was. The players in that game, the jams that
those pictures got out of it just reminded me of
like how great you have to be to be a pro,
because there were so many moments when I thought the
game was over for either side, and they just kept,
you know, going back and forth.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
Guy's just wild singing the time stamp on like MLB's
thing it says four hours ago, like.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Four hours ago. Yeah, good lord. And then also I
was in sleep.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
I was so jealous, like the West Coast too, because
like it ended super late.
Speaker 8 (11:29):
Here.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
It's like, oh, it's on, like you know, everyone's got
to get good to work. It's laid out here in
you know, la and it's twelve or whatever, and I'm like,
you suck it up, You'll be fine, Kevin.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
I think we have birthed a real baseball fan here
over the last several months. What do you think?
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Yeah, that is quite uh quite impressive there again, I
bailed after Kershaw got out of it in the twelfth.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Incredible was that?
Speaker 4 (11:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (11:49):
I mean, my goodness, And that was kind of, you know,
a bit movie like just giving everything that you know,
obviously his career and coming to an end here and
being back in Dodger Stadium, et cetera, et cetera. And
shout out to will Cline again, leo me to norse
own pitch collasionally at Eastern Illinois four innings, I believe,
just one hit for him, allowed to I guess, get
the win for the Dodgers there, thanks to Freddy Freeman.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Ten pitchers, a record for the World Series. The Dodgers
used ten pitchers last night and had it gone to
the nineteenth, Yoshinobu Yamamoto had walked up to Dave Roberts
and said, I'll take this one.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
How about that after what throwing one hundred pitches a
couple of nights ago.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Says I got one inning for you skip. How about that?
Is that is pretty wild?
Speaker 4 (12:30):
All right?
Speaker 1 (12:30):
So Game four comes your way later on tonight after
a six to five win in eighteen for the Dodgers
eight o'clock start James Boyd, So take a nap today.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
I certainly will, all right.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
Indianapolis Colts coming off a seven one record and a
win on Sunday over the Tennessee Titans. They're getting day
off today. What did we learn Kevin Bowen at the
facility yesterday from Shane Stike.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Well, shaneyd clarify that no concussion protocol for Daniel Jones
and Tyler Warren, which you know, again considering how the
Colts have had a few of these this season, and
I would say kind of the violent nature, especially the
Jones hit with his head slamming off the tariff, good
sign there. Outside of that, I'd say a relatively quiet
Monday for the Colts. They did swap out some practice
squad defensive ends, so a week from the trade deadline
(13:17):
they continue to vet and work out veteran defensive ends
in corner. So clearly they have some interest in that position,
and we'll see if they do it in a more
of a meaningful way at all here. Typically, and we
saw the Titans and the Rams executed trade yesterday. Typically,
if NFL teams do make trades, they typically happen Monday
and Tuesday any given week, get that done before the
(13:39):
practice schedule start.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
So we'll see if we see anything around the league today,
all right, So we will find out whether or not
the Colts will bolster their lineup again Sunday afternoon, one
o'clock in Pittsburgh against the four and three Steelers, who
were coming off a loss of their own last night
on Monday Night Football, Kansas City Chiefs over the Washington
Commanders twenty eight, having a couple of miscues by Patrick
(14:01):
Mahomes early Kevin, but then he and Travis Kelsey got
it together, got on the same page both in it's
just one yard shy of milestones I guess Patrick Mahomes
had two hundred ninety nine yards three touchdowns, Travis Kelcey
six receptions for ninety nine yards and a touchdown, and
those guys and Monday Night Football playoffs, they just have
their own little thing going on, don't they again?
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Mahomes, Allen and Herbert. Right now, those three quarterbacks, those
three teams all wild card teams in the AFC. If
I gave you the three wildcard teams or if I
gave you the rest of the conference, who would you
take to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl?
Speaker 1 (14:35):
Right right now? Until I'm proven otherwise. I do like
the Colts, but Kansas City still looks like if they
get it together with all the health that they're getting
back for she Rice and some of the other players
that are getting healthy, they're going to get better just
by getting guys back through the second half of the season.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Give me the rest of the conference, because at some
point the top doll can't be on top anymore. And
that didn't just for Kansas City. I think the Bills
are kind of vulnerable this year as well, So we'll
see how it all shakes out, but it certainly makes
for a little more drama, I think because whenever you
have those guys lined up across from you. I'm kind
of leaving Herbert out of that category because he doesn't
(15:13):
have the playoff success, but the other two, when those
guys line up against you, no matter the game, no
matter where you're playing, be on the moon, they've got
a shot because they're that good, all.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Right, And he had a Pacers get back on the
floor tomorrow night against the Dallas Mavericks. They'll be looking
for their first win of the year. They are zero
and three so far, two close losses and one blowout
that they have suffered so far, but they have had
to do it with beyond a mash unit without seven
guys at one point in time in their loss the
other night. But they made a move yesterday to try
to at least help the back court a little bit.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Kevin, Yeah, Mac McClung, who I think most people will
know him more as the dunk dude, who I guess
comes up from the G League and wins the Dunk
Contest seemingly every year when inside of Lucas Oil Stadium
a couple of years back. So yeah, Pacers need guard
help desperately, and we'll have Rick Carlisle on here in
about thirty minutes or so, and see exactly where mac
(16:05):
mcclun's at is he already in Dallas with the team.
Can he practice today? How quickly can he get up
to speed? Because you looked at the sheer roster, I
mean there are plenty of minutes in the back court
depending on what the injury report's going to look like
later today. So at some point you had to figure
that four centers was not going to last on this roster.
And with mac McClung joining the team, James Wiseman was
(16:26):
let go.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
He was the odd man out. Mac McClung. James a
former G League Rooki of the Year and in one
of their leading scores. But he's never been able to
quite make it up to the NBA and stick. So
we'll see. He's probably just going to be reserve help, clearly,
but see if you can maybe make a run at
sticking on a roster. A multi year, non guaranteed contract,
I understand.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Yeah, the first standard contract he's ever gotten, because a
lot of times he's always been like two way deals
and you know, G League contracts and stuff like that.
I've seen the guy play. I'm very familiar with his game,
followed him basically since his high school career because he
can dunk on anybody. He's like a legend out in.
I want to say he passed Allen Iverson for like
the all time scoring when it comes to high school
sports out there. But the catch is, you know, can
(17:07):
you be a pro. And he's very skilled, very talented player,
but it's levels. It is a difference between being first
team All g League the last couple of years versus
being a rotational guard point guard in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
All right, anything else you guys want to throw in
before we had to break here and tell you about
a busy day with guests.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Yeah, Chritsy Netty did update Aidan Fisher's status said that
everything seemed to check out with that.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
You know.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
The star linebacker for Indiana exited early after his touchdown
on sun or on Saturday, there listed him as probable
for this upcoming week's game with Maryland, So Indiana appears
to have avoided potentially a big injury there with one
of their best players.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
It's fun to watch that young man play. Doug Bowls
coming up in about twenty minutes from now. The man
who's in charge of the speedway, or at least the
guy that is on the grounds walking around and making
things go, is going to join us at seven forty five.
And then of course we've got Rick Carlisle, as we
do on Tuesdays at eight o'clock, Joel A. Ericsson, we'll
talk Colts at nine. Your Texan phone calls along the
(18:07):
way at two, three, nine, ten seventy and Tuesdays off
and running here at ninety three five and one oh
seven to five of the fan, Good morning, and I
hope you Tuesday is off to a rip roar and start.
We're looking forward to a day of rest for the
Indianapolis Colts. They are seven and one. They have certainly
earned that Indiana football is eight to no and just
tearing everything up that goes in front of them. And
(18:31):
we talked yesterday about the fact that James Boy looks
like they have an easier schedule in the Big Ten
the rest of the way until whatever the championship game
might hold for them, assuming they don't trip up along
the way. But they got to feel good and we
heard a moment ago and Fisher going to be okay,
So that's good news too.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Yeah, I mean, but if you believe that coach sig
is gonna let these guys relax and think they got
an easy coast into the championship game for the conference,
I mean, I have a beach farm property to sell
you in the middle of Indianapolis. He will not do that.
He will will certainly find something for us he to
be motivated by. And maybe it's just by the fact
that they're not number one in the country, because the
way they're beating teams, they have a case to be
(19:08):
the best team in the country. And also just week
in and week out, they're proving their legitimate national title contender,
which again sounds crazy to say, but not so crazy
to say given the resume the last two years. I'd
like to get more information on that beachfront property.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
It might be interested. It's great conversation and also great conversation.
We've talked about it here, but nationally people are starting
to say, I don't know, can Jonathan Taylor maybe be
the most valuable player in the NFL if he keeps
up this pace. Generally, you got to approach two thousand
yards and have a bunch of yards from scrimmage too,
and lead the league in touchdowns with over twenty and
he certainly seems on pace for those type of things.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Kevin Bowen, Yeah, I will believe it when I see
it from the voters. I just you know, I know,
we got this debate in the nine o'clock hour yesterday,
But MVPs a quarterback award.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
It's not about you got to get out there in
campaign then.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Not the best player in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
You know, you go back to when Taylor led the
league in rush in twenty one and had whatever he had,
eighteen nineteen touchdowns, he didn't get a single MVP vote.
You look back on that year as well. That was
the year Cooper Cup had the most catches in the NFL,
the most receiving yards in the NFL, the most touchdowns
in the NFL, and he got one MVP.
Speaker 9 (20:19):
Bo.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
I mean, there's fifty of them, and you're telling me
a dude that as a triple crown gets one vote.
Jonathan Taylor leads a league in rushing by five hundred
more yards than anybody else, no one was close to Taylor,
and he gets zero.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
So I just what if the Colts end up going
thirteen and four? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Maybe, but I mean I think Daniel Jones might trump him.
Then at that point, I just think it's a quarterback award,
and again I would disagree with it. I'm not a
big you know. Just call it a quarterback award and
I get it. If you want to literally write out
the acronym, it is most valuable player. We did this
debate again the nine o'clock Carry yesterday. Would you rather
(21:01):
on Sunday play a game with a Mirra abdulas you're
starting running back, or Riley Leonard as you're starting quarterback.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
I think both of you said a Mira Abdulah's you're starting.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Running back, like that's the value of the position, but
then just called a quarterback award and called something else.
I guess offensive Player of the Year is than a
different element of it.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
So question.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
My hot take when it comes to MVP voting in
any sport is that they shouldn't be There should be
more unanimous MVPs. The people who say, like you just said, oh,
like they couldn't get one vote, No, they couldn't. I'm sorry.
That year Aaron Rodgers had thirty seven touchdown passes and
foreign receptions. I cannot vote for Jonath Taylor's MVP.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
I'm Cooper Cup, like most catches, most yards, most touchdowns,
how many wide outs?
Speaker 1 (21:46):
About a triple crown in NFL history.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Yeah, and you would have been in my voting list.
I would have had Aaron Rodgers Cooper Cup number two.
But I'm not voting you number one because I think
you like deserve to be in the conversation.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Yeah, sorry, that's right. Disagree.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
I mean, Travis hunerlandast year is the best player in
college football? Like that to me checked out. When you
talk about the most valuable player, it's just always going
to go to the quarterback that has the best stats.
And I would disagree on that. I think it should
be more of a best player award than that.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
We could just square up then Mark, let's get running out,
I think ken.
Speaker 5 (22:24):
My other thing with that though, too, is like there's
the most valuable player, but then there's like offensive Player
of the year, and if the MVP is a quarterback,
then shouldn't that be Offensive Player of the year as well?
Speaker 2 (22:36):
Okay, I like that argument better.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
I would agree that one's never checked out. It's always
like the it's the same thing in college's like the
Dave O. Brian Award, I think for that, I'm like,
wait a minute, a different player, a different quarterback and
win the Dave Oe Brian Award versus the Heisman.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
So Patrick Mahomes won the MVP, then how is he
not also most offensive? Like Offensive Player of the Year right.
Speaker 2 (22:56):
More my hot takes, I think it should be.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Both well, regardless of how the boat ends up going.
The head coach of the Nanapolis Colts is in awe
of what he's witnessing. He talked about Jonathan Taylor and
his dominance yesterday, and.
Speaker 10 (23:08):
I think the patience is a big part of it.
I think, you know, the camaraderie and just you know,
being behind our offensive line, you know it's been in
tact for a while, and he knows how to read
those blocks from those guys, and those guys are creating
the holes. And then I think he's just running so physical,
you know, through the tackles, and then when he's out
in space on the second and third level, just the
(23:29):
ability to make you miss and and you know you
use the stiff arm and bounce off tackles to create
that extra yak. And then when he is freeing space
just to hit those home runs are awesome.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
That's Shane stike It on the Colts Roundtable with Matt
Taylor last night. But yeah, he's getting holes, he's getting
into the secondary and once he gets to that next level,
he is making it happen to himself. James Boyd.
Speaker 5 (23:51):
Jonathan Taylor, by the way, has jumped up in MVP voting.
He was eighth yesterday. Now he's up to fourth. He
has jumped to that voting or odds.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Okay, to that point. I will say he's on pace
for thirty touchdowns from scrimmage and the last player to
do that was Ladanian Tomlinson in twenty. I don't want
to say to two thousand and six and he won MVP.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Didn't he throw a touchdown pass? Or to that year two?
Speaker 4 (24:15):
Oh? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (24:16):
I would have to go back and look, I mean
those Chargers teams. How did you not make a Super
Bowl when you have Philip Rivers, Antonio Gates and Lt.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
Marty shot Himer. Perhaps, but there was a fumble that
they had a game, a playoff game in hand, and
they fumbled the ball late and that led the game
losing points. So the weird things happened to them back
in those days. It was crazy, but Yeah, Ladanian Thomlinson
was special, so who knows, Succord. You're right, Kevin, it's
a quarterback award.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
Well, and I would say how the NFL VU's running
backs a lot different than how they viewed them in
Ladani and Thomlinson's year. Oh absolutely, you know, even Adrian
Peterson as our last.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
It's crazy they have back to back MVPs.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
They're running back with two thousand and five Seawn Alexander,
then La Danian Tomlinson. Then they had a gap. I
think it was my have been Adrian Peterson in twenty
twelve and no one since then.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (25:04):
Different.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
You know, Derek Henry I think had some really MVP
type of or again best player type of seasons, and
obviously he hasn't won one since.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
So great argument, great problem to have.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
And the Colts have definitely two players that have played
an exceptionally high level this season. But I will hold
my breath and wait and see because typically it's a
quarterback ward.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
So the next time you guys get a chance to
talk to Shane Stike and what what you interested in
finding out more than anything at this point in time
right now, not that he'd shared necessarily but what do
you want to ask him? What do you want to
talk to him about? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
I'll just talked to him yesterday. I'll figure that out tomorrow.
I guess you'll get more than an hour and a
half of sleep. Yeah, yeah, I mean this is not
really much to ask the guy at this point. A
lot of it has to do with health. I mean,
where guys are at. Perhaps Jalen Jones, will he be
available this week for that Pittsburgh game as a cornerback?
You probably need him? Again, it's guy like Aaron Rodgers,
But there's not a lot of like groundbreaking questions in
(25:59):
any of us. I think are ask him saying? Second?
Speaker 5 (26:00):
At this point, it's like the SNL sketch with Chris
Farley interviewing Paul McCartney's like, do you remember when you
were at the Beatles?
Speaker 2 (26:06):
That was awesome?
Speaker 5 (26:07):
It's like remember when Jonathan Taylor at that eighty yard touchdown?
Speaker 2 (26:10):
That was awesome. I know, it's like what you're at
with the.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
Question wise, Yeah, I think today it is you know,
do we see any trades that would probably be where
I would go? Obviously, Shane's not going to say these
things publicly, but.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
Actions will indicate it. Again.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
Yesterday you saw Tennessee they traded, actually the corner that
threw Daniel Jones to the turf on Sunday, Roger McCrary
to the Rams. So that is a very straightforward. Tennessee
is selling the Rams. I think we remember this back
in week four. They've had cornerback issues. They are buying,
and that one checked out pretty easily. NFC, AFC, trade,
(26:42):
et cetera, et cetera. So again, you typically when you
see trades, and we hadn't had one in a week
or so in the NFL, this is typically what it
looks like cross conference, A clear seller, a clear buyer.
It happens on a Monday. In this case, you know
Monday or tuesdays. You let that guy ramp up throughout
a week of practice. NFL trade deadline is one week
from today. I think Shane Steichen would like to see
(27:05):
a move. We'll see if it happens.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
All right.
Speaker 8 (27:08):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Checking in on the fan text line at two through nine,
ten seventy Ryles talking about the offensive line. He says,
they you're young in Spry again, James, that's the biggest difference.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
Young and Spry.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Sounds like an ad for a blue pill.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
Well whatever, maybe it's the blue blue pill that's working.
There we go, Ryley, Uh, let's see George wants to
know Kevin from the expertise you all have. What's your
comfort level with the amount of carries that JT has
so far? Was an area of concern before the season started,
especially for you, and thoughts on that.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Yeah, you know, I wouldn't mind, you know, just the
little tone it back of it. You know, I think
we get into this running back to debate a whole
lot of you know, Notre Dame fans are feeling it
right now. Jeremiah Love. Yeah, you would love to see
a Heisman campaign, and I'm sure Colts fans would love
to see Jonathan Taylor win an MVP Award, but you'd
rather have them for seventeen games, so and obviously any
sort of playoff run. So what does that look like?
(28:05):
You talked about it yesterday. Taylor's health has been absolutely
pristine this season. I can't recall last time he's missed
a game, missed a practice, let alone even shown up
on the injury report. So yeah, I don't think that
would be the end of the world to get a
Mira Abdulla or Tyler Goodson was back in the lineup
on Sunday, just to get some of those guys a
carry or two and try and keep Taylor as fresh
(28:27):
as possible.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Do you think, Jason, Yeah, I would agree what everything
Kevin just said.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Well, it's gonna be fun to watch how the Colts
play this whole thing out and whether or not they
do add some help. And like I said, I think
from a fans perspective, as we sit and watch, you
think to yourself, man, if this defense just had an
edge rusher that could make some kind of difference, not
even dominant. Like we were all, you know, we were
(28:56):
having fever dreams yesterday, and I said, what about Miles Garrett,
did you imagine that? Well, yeah, we can all imagine
that it's not going to happen, But I don't know
as a guy like a Bradley Chub from Miami in play,
and would that kind of guy help take some pressure
off the forest Buckner is getting double and triple teamed
in the middle all the time.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Yeah, I think those are the types of players and
teams that make a little bit more of sense, you know.
Booger McFarland in the Super Bowl year that did not
you know, that was not Miles Garrett like or Trey
Hendrickson like or Max Crosby like, but it proved out
to be a very effective and needed piece for that team.
And I think you can make the argument they don't
(29:32):
win the Super Bowl without a booger McFarland type of trade.
And you know, I don't want to act like the
Colts roster is aging by any means, but when you
think about guys twenty nine thirty north of thirty, and
we're talking Grover Stewart to Forrest Buckner, Kenny Moore, Quinton Nelson,
Braden Smith, Ziar Franklin, we're talking, you know a good
(29:52):
amount of those guys you'd label what top ten, top
fifteen players on your team. So when these opportunities present itself,
and it doesn't present itself every year, I would argue
it's the only time I've probably ever thought that the
Colt should be a buyer in the Chris Ballard era.
When they do, I think some you know, Chauncey billups
chips into the middle of the table would be wise.
Speaker 5 (30:12):
I was gonna say, how all chips in should they be?
Because obviously, this is the best chance they've had in years.
Shouldn't you go for the moon? Shouldn't you shoot for
the stars right.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
Right?
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Which I think you have to remind yourself. But you know,
right now, Mark, if you look at you know next
year they have all their draft picks besides the sixth rounder.
You would think, knowing Chris Ballard and his ability to
trade back, you'd recoop that pretty easily. And or maybe
Anthony Richardson gets moved in the off season to recoup
some of that. So yeah, I think of third rounder
again takes two to tango, which, yeah, I think we
(30:44):
have to remind ourselves. I'd be totally content with that.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
You need a dance partner.
Speaker 5 (30:49):
But on the other side of go be like, Hey,
we've got draft capital, we're willing to spend. We have
the best chance of making the playoffs and winning the
division in a long time. Let's shoot for the stars here,
let's see what we can get done.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
NFL trade dance probably look like you and I market
most of our dancing against the wall.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
She did she look at me?
Speaker 1 (31:04):
I wis she looked at she looked at me? She
look at me? Or you? I would say the walls
behind me. I think she looked at me.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
I would say most realistic approach will probably be trying
to get one of Miami guys. I think Chubb is
too expensive. Bradley Chubb, the defensive edge rusher. He's got
three year left on his deal. I believe, a big
money contract. None of it's guaranteed after this year. But
still a lot of maneuvering there when it comes to
salary cap. But then you look at Jalen Phillips injury
history there, former first round pick I think in twenty
(31:32):
twenty one, six' five athletic edge. Rusher if you go
get someone who's not a you, know one a, star
then they're going to be flawed to a. Degree so
would you give a like a fourth round pick for
a guy like? That maybe that's where you need to,
start you, know digging, around stoop and.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Around all, right we'll see what The colts decide to.
Do come out about a few minutes. Here we hope
to talk To Doug, bowles who's going to join us
from the. SPEEDWAY i know they want to get a
jump on starting to sell tickets and talk about some
of the things that they have going up there that
one thing about the, Speedway, kevin and we know, this
they never. REST i don't Think Doug bulls ever. RESTS
i think he's his mind is churning and there's got
to be something going on and something new and something
(32:08):
different almost every. Day it's, crazy the speed with which
that man works and the energy that he. Has only
no one like. Him so looking forward to hopefully talking
to him coming up in a few. Minutes as far
as The pacers are, concerned you're just joining. Us they
did make one. Movie, Yesterday mac McClung signed for, backcourt
helping amidst all the. Injuries they cut one of four
centers they had, Kept James James wiseman is no longer
(32:31):
with the.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Team, yeah he was the odd man out when it
comes to that four man center my committee. Approach he
was the only, CENTER i, believe of the four who
did not play in every single. Game so when you
get a new guard in, there it kind of was
the writing one was on the wall to move on
From James.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
Wiseman all, right and emerging from the green room now
is The Doug, bulls the aforementioned man over at The
Indianapolis Motor. Speedway Good tuesday, Morning, doug welcome to the,
show and we are always happy to talk to. You
how are things, going and they quote unquote off, Season, well.
Speaker 6 (33:00):
We finally are in the off. Season.
Speaker 9 (33:02):
Finally we just had our last test on track yesterday
and now we start winn rising and counting down for
the twenty twenty six.
Speaker 6 (33:09):
Seasons so but you, know the good news is.
Speaker 9 (33:11):
We get lots of great sports In indiana they watch
for the next few months until we go racing.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
AGAIN i still want to have a football game somewhere
in the.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
Infield is that even possible?
Speaker 9 (33:20):
Anywhere you, know it would be possible to do for.
Sure the challenge we have is the place is so.
Big you would put, this you, know you put the field,
somewhere like if you put it in turn, one for,
example in the grass area and turn, one you'd only
have a.
Speaker 6 (33:33):
Portion of the track that can see.
Speaker 9 (33:34):
It so while we have two hundred and thirty five
thousand permanent, seats not all of them would you, know
would get to see. It so that's the biggest. Challenge you,
know we couldn't engage all of our. Seats BUT i
would love like the The Winter classic or some cool
football game you, know basketball came on the yard of
bricks kind of, thing if you build. It you, know
we've we've explored a lot of. It we just haven't
found the right the right thing.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Yet, WELL i like all the things that you tend
to come, up but they're always kind of. Fun what
are you guys working on right? Now what can you
tell us about where we're at at The speedway as
we sit here a few days Before.
Speaker 9 (34:06):
Halloween, well we, just LIKE i, said we just got
done with our last real test yesterday for The Indie next,
cars which are those cars that are just below The
Indy car. Cars so we'll start winn, rising getting ready to,
go but our tickets go back on. Sale so the
biggest time for ticket sales FOR us is in our renewal.
Period so as soon as the checker flag falls and
The indy five hundred got five hundred hours to, renew
your tickets are asked for an, upgrade and then the
(34:28):
team goes through all, that and once that's, done tickets
go back on sale for folks that don't have. Them
so today we go back on sale with tickets about
two hundred and eight days from the one hundred and
tents running the eighty five. Hundred so we'll start cranking
away and getting prepared for getting prepared for the spring
the tearaway.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
Calendar on the dusk of the desk Of, Douglas.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
I's going to, say can you give us some, Insight,
doug as to what that looks like for. You do
you have like just like a big clock in your
Office they lets you know by the second of when
the NEXT inny five hundred.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
STARTS i do.
Speaker 9 (34:56):
Have a big clock in my office that lets me
know by the second win the hundre it.
Speaker 6 (35:00):
Starts but IT'S I.
Speaker 4 (35:03):
I.
Speaker 9 (35:03):
DO i do have a big it's a Big miller like.
Clock so it reminds me THAT i need to drink a.
Beer and by the, way it's two hundred eight days
until the Indian apolis five. Hundred so today at two,
Thirty i'll switch to two hundred and seven days and
twenty three hours.
Speaker 6 (35:16):
And you, know fifty nine. Minutes but, so, yeah so
today's two hundred. Eight But i've done. It i've done
it so long now it's just in my. Head it's
just one of those.
Speaker 9 (35:24):
Things THAT i just automatically count. Down it's it's part
of the. Fun and, yeah so it just it just
is kind of.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
There, WELL i have to ask you, now next, year
when we do our Annual Miller miller Like Carb day
show out there at The, speedway you're gonna come by
and crack one With kevin And james AND i like
we did last.
Speaker 9 (35:41):
YEAR i will one hundred percent any OPPORTUNITY i have
to grab a beer at The speedway and call it.
Work i'm in So i'm happy to do. That it's
a part part of the. Fun in, fact my you,
know one of my favorite times the month Of may
is the night before the five, hundred when you, KNOW
i we just stay up all night and WHAT i
end up doing is taking my tie off and walking
(36:04):
out in the crowd in The coke lot or through the.
Neighborhoods And i'll allow myself to have one beer during
the night BECAUSE i probably shouldn't drink a lot the
night before the five. Hundred but part of the fun
is just is just hanging out with folks and watching
that AND i tend to end up with A coors
light instead.
Speaker 6 (36:21):
Of A miller, light but same, family so it works.
Speaker 9 (36:24):
Well but that's kind of kind of WHERE i, am
but happy to share a beer with you, GUYS.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
I thank you And john maybe cheers last year in
The coke claud the night before the, race The Great
Doug bulls with us here on The Payless slickers. Hotline,
DOUG i think it's our first conversation since the news Of,
fox you, know buying A i guess a chunk of
any car and? Ims what do you envision as? Different
what will that financial backing from YOUR tv, partner which
(36:50):
is super unique in any, sport what will that do
for you? Guys maybe as early as twenty twenty.
Speaker 9 (36:55):
Six, WELL i think the biggest thing is it's it's
sort of an endorsed that they see a lot of
upside in the in The IndyCar series as we go
forward it for them to invest in, it you, know
they obviously saw what we, see which is a lot
of upside and a lot of a lot of great
things on the. Horizon so that that's that's kind of
the big biggest thing for me is just that endorsement from.
Them the, SECONDARILY i mean we saw it last, year
(37:17):
just the investment that they, make and they did it
this past weekend during THE iu, game you, know Having
alex plow down and really talking about The indy five,
hundred so leveraging a lot of their other other sports
properties to really help grow The indy five hundred and the,
series and then having some of The fox creative, Folks
Eric shanksby and one on our on our board really
(37:39):
helping us think through how do we just continue to
invest more in the promotional side and grow the. SPORT
i think that's where we're going to see the biggest.
Value and in, FACT i sent along a long note yesterday
To eric on some of my thoughts in terms of
how are we what are the pillars that that we
really should be growing the series, around and how that
we get after it and how can we engage their
help to get. There so those ARE i, mean that's
(38:00):
really WHAT i think we'll see is just some of
the brain power that they bring along with. It and,
then LIKE i, said it's just a great endorsement that
somebody else sees the value in The IndyCar series in
the upside that we have over the next few.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Years any clarity from a third party race. Control obviously
we had all the inspection kind of drama from last.
Year any any clarity on.
Speaker 9 (38:20):
That, YEAH i think where we're going to end up
with that is we're going to end up having to
really roll that announcement out here in the next couple of.
Weeks we've gone through a lot of different options of
ways to get our officiating independent and independent in the
sense that it just removes any optics challenges of the
(38:41):
owner of the series and the owner of the speedway
actually owning a team that competes in. It so we
have to build that firewall that allows the series and
the fans and our partners to feel comfortable that all
decisions that are being made are not being made in
a way that are benefiting the owner of the. Organization
so we've had several several options that we've looked.
Speaker 6 (39:02):
THROUGH i think we've narrowed it down to a couple right.
Speaker 9 (39:04):
Now we had a long meeting yesterday about really going
through the pros and cons of. Both SO i think
we're going to get to a situation in the next
couple of weeks where we'll be rolling that out with
the teams and then ultimately rolling that out to the.
Fans but we're definitely committed to independent. Officiating in beginning
in twenty twenty.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
Six, doug you got caught being a nice guy. AGAIN
i got a story from a listener this. Morning oh
you says a great story About. Doug we were at
the recent sports car race AT. Ims doug was driving
around in his vintage nineteen twenties race. Car he stopped
around where we were saw my five year old son
looking at his. Car doug immediately signaled over to us
told him to climb in. Moment my kid will never
(39:40):
forget how much fun was, that you, know one of.
Speaker 7 (39:44):
The biggest things for.
Speaker 9 (39:44):
Me SO i bought this crazy nineteen twenty four race
car a year and a half ago because it was
in nineteen twenty Four chevy on, firestones all the, things
and it was the twenty twenty four eighty five. HUNDRED
i called my wife AND i, said, HEY i want
to buy this. Car she, said you don't need another.
Speaker 6 (39:59):
CAR i need this.
Speaker 9 (40:00):
One and the reason it is is because it's not
a current. IndyCar obviously it doesn't look like current. IndyCar
but what's so cool about it is it does ATTRACT i,
mean kids love it so and the ability for me
to just step out of the car and let a
kid get in the car and pretend they're, driving you,
know the most important thing any of us do for
our sports and the health of our sports long term
(40:20):
is engage kids so that their lifelong, football, basketball racing,
fans whatever it. Is and so for, me it's just
a really cool opportunity to get a kid to smile
and frankly get their parents to smile right when they
get a chance to get in the. Car so you,
know there's nothing better than watching kids fall.
Speaker 6 (40:35):
In love with your. Sports so that's really the purpose
for that. Tool SO i do that quite a bit
with that. Car so it's a lot of.
Speaker 9 (40:41):
Fun and the speedway police were nice enough to allow
me to license this SO i can actually drive it
Down Main street and you, know it's really a fun
little it's really a fun little.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
Car that's good. Stuff, well enjoy. That back to work
selling tickets, today and what's the best way for people
to get tickets is to go? Online or what do they?
Speaker 9 (40:57):
Do, yeah they can call the, office but you know any,
more going ONLINE ims dot com is the easiest way
to do.
Speaker 6 (41:03):
It you can always call three, one, seven four nine two.
Speaker 9 (41:05):
Eighty five hundred if you want to talk to a live.
PERSON i remind people that our ticket team is literally
in our Office we're not outsourcing it to some tickets
a ticket broker or some some ticket call center, somewhere
so they can if you want.
Speaker 6 (41:16):
To know what your seat is going to look, like
they can go out and take a picture of what
the view would be like from your.
Speaker 9 (41:20):
Seat and we really take pride in the way that
we handle our customer. Service so either on online or
call the folks in the ticket.
Speaker 1 (41:26):
Office Doug bowles, ims thanks for checking. In we'll talk
to you, soon, Buddy no no, problem, guys take. Care
thanks all, right From Doug bowles to the head coach
of The Indiana pacers And Rick carlisle coming up next
at ninety three five and one on seven five the.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
Fan all, right at eight o'clock on A, tuesday think
Any Doug bowls for joining us two, eights that is
the number away from the next year's running two or
eight days away from The indianapolis five. Hundreds always enjoy
our chats With Doug. Bowls he's usually. COURTSIDE i see
him quite off That pacer games Where carlisle schedule to
(41:59):
join us here in a few they are In. Dallas
have you watched Any cooper flag this? Year, james, SO
i got a little banged up last night but played
through the shoulder.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
Injury, YEAH i.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
Have they've only won one game this year so, far
but he looks pretty good for the number one. Pick
AND i would say, AGAIN i am Anti Cooper flagg
being there at point guard because there's a lot of
pressure putting on a guy who is not really a
guard and is a. Rookie but there has certainly been
flashes of why you see he was taking that high
the defensive, versatility, Athleticism he had a poster dunk the
(42:28):
other night in one of those, games and so been
very impressed with him so. Far AND i think The
MAVs look a lot better when they Get Kyrie irving.
Back and so for The pacers', purposes they're probably a
little relieved that they won't have to See Kyrie irving
here tomorrow night In.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
Dallas so The pacers news from yesterday they have Signed
mac McClung and you, know again a thek you, know
ninety eight percent of the audience Knows mack McClung is
a due that dunks and it's come up from THE
G league and won The Dunk. Contest it's three years
in a. Row isn't it at this. POINT i know
he definitely Wonted Lucas. OIL i know it's three.
Speaker 2 (43:01):
Overall i'm not sure it's three in a. Row BUT
i do think that he's like done doing. THAT i
think he wants to try to focus on being a
legit basketball, player and this will be his not first
real opportunity to do, so BUT i would say probably
the biggest opportunity to actually play meaningful minutes in THE.
Speaker 3 (43:14):
Nba and again HE'S i, mean you got buckets in
THE G, LEAGUE i mean average about twenty a game
and was a double digit score in college in The Big.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
East and then you are, correct by the, way three
times in a row done The Big twelve after.
Speaker 3 (43:25):
Him so, again The pacers just need help right now
in the back. COURT i, mean it's dire whether health
situation is at and they've got a back to back
coming up this. Weekend they go out west here for
a trip as, Well so just purely from an available
body minute, STANDPOINT i am curious if the fact that
(43:46):
they've made this move is at an indicator Of Andrew
nemhart and Or Benedict matherin missing a little bit more.
Time we haven't gotten you, know updates on, That SO
i think that would be a question that is on
my mind as, well.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
Absolutely because if you're without, THEM i think this kind
of explains why you made move from mac mclungk in
the first. Place AND i guess the question we definitely
throw A rick when we get him on the air
here is just you, know what stands out to you
about his game and perhaps why do you think you
can get a little bit more out of him than
what we've seen so far as far as HIS nba
(44:19):
ranks have. Gone so that's the tough part about this
situation that they're in when it comes to The, pacers
is you look so much different than you were last,
year and on top of not Having Tarre's, halliburton you're
down so many players. ALREADY i, mean thank god That
Quentin jackson looks like he'll be back in the lineup
and it will be. Okay but, yeah a tough sleding so.
Speaker 3 (44:40):
Far, YEAH i mean it said this during yesterday. Show
the fact that you Know i'm Watching Saturday Night game.
TWO a first quarter lineup is RAY J dennis and Tailing.
PETER i, mean that's A noblesville boom lineup out, there
and Then peter gets hurt later in the. Game so,
yeah it just it's kind of amazing that that's the
(45:02):
state of where things are at right. Now so hope
to chat With Red carlisle here On tuesday, mornings and
we'll certainly keep you posted on where The pacers are
at from an injury report, standpoint as they are In,
dallas schedule level practice later today and then they will
take on The bavericks coming up. Tomorrow one OF i
want to say it's four or five winless.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
Teams actually have quite.
Speaker 3 (45:23):
A few winless teams still in the. LEAGUE nfl trade
deadline is one week from today, Again Colton steelers coming
up On.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
Sunday we did get a question in.
Speaker 3 (45:34):
HERE i think it's kind of a decent thought of,
like with the fact that The cults are traveling To,
germany increase the likelihood of you wanting to do a
trade this week next, Week James. Craig If i'm, WRONG
i don't believe the team is leaving Until, thursday right
Next thursday AFTER i believe it Is thursday after.
Speaker 11 (45:53):
PRACTICE i think the thought with that is if you were,
LEAVING i don't think we see a lot of teams
do this internationally, Anymore but some of them used to leave.
Speaker 3 (46:05):
The monday of that game's, week AND i don't think,
again a lot of teams still do that really. Anymore
but if you were to do, that then obviously that
would impact where you know you're at from a trade,
deadline a passport, standpoint as crazy as all that, sounds
but the fact that you're not leaving till Next thursday after,
practice you could still make a trade On monday the,
(46:27):
third or Even tuesday the. Fourth get that guy in
your own building Practice, wednesday Practice, thursday then he would
fly out with the. Team SO i think it's a decent,
Thought BUT i don't think the international trip upcoming has
really anything to do with maybe how urgent you want to.
Speaker 2 (46:43):
Be, NO i don't think. So AND i also think
that deadlines kind of spur. Actions when it comes to
the trade, deadline it reminds me OF i, mean all
of us have done the whole college experiences in his,
room and when you get down to like finals week
and you, Know, OKAY i have this project, due this
hasts to, TAKE i should probably be doing some stuff
to you, know prep for. THAT a couple weeks in,
(47:04):
advance and if anything like, me you didn't do. That
you waited to the last possible minute to get something.
Done SO i would think if The colts were to
make an end season, trade which doesn't or hasn't happened
very often during The chris ballad, era and actually just
once during The chris ballad, era it would be probably
closer to the deadline THAN i would think the, opposite
(47:26):
just because you and ALSO i think it gives you
a little sense of the landscape of the league and
what other teams are, doing and perhaps that can change
what you're willing to do as, well because we all
know some moves can have a little bit of a
domino effect on.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
Others, yeah and right, now AND i, Know, james do
YOU i think either wrote up For The athletic you
know recently on you, know the urgency to make a.
TRADE i posted something earlier today on one of some
five thefan dot. Com and, so you, know when you
think about where they're at right now from a pass defense,
standpoint if you look at dating back to that game
(48:00):
against The rams Against Matthew, stafford right, now The colts
in this five game, stretch they've allowed the most passing
yards of any team in THE nfl through a five
game stretch this. Season and you, know, again if you
look at where the playoff standings are at right, now
your wild card quarterbacks Are Josh, Allen Justin, Herbert Patrick.
Mahomes and as much AS i think The colts offense
(48:21):
is almost bulletproof from a scoring, STANDPOINT i would be
a little nervous in a shootout right, now toe to
toe against quarterbacks that have won in the postseason in
your controlled environment as. Well you, KNOW i actually, think you,
know when you're facing some of these, teams like you,
know pass happy, quarterbacks it would almost be better if
the games or. Outdoors you, know sometimes you don't see
(48:42):
these prolific numbers in the postseason from some of these.
Guys the fact that they likely to be playing in
your own. Building obviously you would have a home field
advantage and the. Environment but you, know you get into
some back and forth and all of a sudden you
settle for one or two field goals and that could
be the, difference and what.
Speaker 2 (48:59):
You're, saying leave the roof hoping For Justin.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
HERBERT i think it'd be then in the. World BUT
i think that just kind of adds to Where i'm.
At if you look at the quarterbacks you faced over
the last five. Games, Yes stafford is in, There herbert
is in. There, yeah but so Is, brsette so is Cam,
ward you, know so IS i Think Geno smith maybe
was the other quarterback you. Faced that's not the pathway
(49:22):
that you would have in the month Of. JANUARY i
think that kind of adds to the urgency for me
and making a deal Before tuesday's.
Speaker 2 (49:29):
Deadline so to flip this question or this situation a little,
bit how much do you believe in The colts offense
on a scale of one to? Ten and then within,
that how much do you believe In Daniel jones on
a scale of one to, Ten because that's the Question
i've been asking myself as far as like how all
in do you need to be because to, me obviously
(49:52):
the offense is the strends of this. Team But Daniel,
jones it'll come down to him having the football and
you trusting that what's you're you're saying is for, real
like he's not gonna regress so much so to the
point where you're, questioning is you're starting quarterback? Again so
where are you at skilled want to tell On Daniel?
Speaker 1 (50:09):
Jones, YEAH i.
Speaker 3 (50:10):
Think you have a ton of belief right now and
where the cults are at from an offensive standpoint and
is it for real?
Speaker 2 (50:15):
Though like cause that that's you, Know AND i say
this not as a knock On Daniel, jones but LIKE
i would Imagine colts fans are, like SHOULD i really
get my hopes? Up you, Know i've kind of been
teased over the last couple of years being close or
feeling like we're you know a little bit, there and
in this year is different because they're seven and, one but,
like is it okay to you, know step out there
(50:36):
a little?
Speaker 4 (50:37):
Bit.
Speaker 3 (50:37):
Yeah it's funny BECAUSE i went on With Hammer nigel
yes day. AFTERNOON i go on with them Every, monday
And nigel asked me a question of have they passed
all the? Tests AND i thought that was kind of
quite an interesting way to ask. IT i think my
answer to that is. No BUT i also sit here and,
think don't think for one second that means that all
(50:58):
the tests that have been presented to themselves so far
they haven't passed With valedictorian type, colors because they, have
but you, know there's only so many tests you can
pass Before. Halloween like that's just how THE nfl schedule,
works because you, know At arrowhead and At seattle and
even At pittsburgh for, example those tests haven't really been.
PRESENTED i, mean look at the three road environments that
(51:18):
you've played, In, james you were out IN. La, YEAH
i would not consider those.
Speaker 2 (51:24):
Hostile, no not. REALLY i would.
Speaker 3 (51:26):
Consider tennessee a party and largely a visiting party more than.
Speaker 1 (51:30):
Anything with.
Speaker 3 (51:31):
That you, know, again some of these newer tests are
about to step, up and you, Know Dan jones just
won a playoff, games SO i don't act like it's,
foreign but you, know proving yourself in the month Of
january is a different. Animal so you, KNOW i don't
know one to ten scales so. FAR i, mean the
offense has been, again, bulletproof it's been an absolute. Ten
The jones belief it's certainly higher THAN i THOUGHT i
(51:54):
would be saying two months into the. Season but if
you're going to make me bet on OTHER afc, quarterbacks,
yeah probably betting on OTHER afc. Quarterbacks And i'm gonna
have to see it in the month Of. January AND
i just think that's the reality of that playoff. Football
that's a good problem to, have. Though, man oh it's
a great.
Speaker 2 (52:11):
PROBLEM i mean you just saying that right now sort
of validates how crazy of a turnaround has truly been
for This it is.
Speaker 3 (52:18):
A great problem to. Have, YEAH i, mean there is
zero meaning a epic.
Speaker 2 (52:24):
Collapse they're on track to make the playoffs the first
time it's twenty, twenty to win their first division titles
since twenty. Fourteen this is stuff we haven't seen in
a long.
Speaker 3 (52:33):
Time that quarterback has BEEN i don't, know solved to some.
Speaker 1 (52:36):
Degree.
Speaker 3 (52:37):
Yeah now, again the level of you, know how it's
been and all of that remains to be. Seen BUT
i think that's kind of the right, way at least
That i'm viewing it. Of they have passed every test so.
FAR i would argue they've passed it without cheating off
the person next to, them, Right they've passed it. Emphatically
(52:57):
now the question becomes when more of these tests start
to show. UP i want to, say six of their
last Nine james are away from. Home you, know that's
different than what they've just, had. Right you, know, again
how do you? PLAY i mean you only have one
home game the next, month which is just kind of.
Speaker 2 (53:12):
And they'll start to get into more of that division
and schedule in that. Division i'm, Sorry oh, yeah, right right.
Right the division schedule with THE Afc south opponents kind
of racking. UP i know they cleared out The titans
and they're off the schedule for the next, year and
we'll see they see him next.
Speaker 1 (53:26):
Year but, man you would love to Match titans in
there for a third.
Speaker 2 (53:29):
GAME i, MEAN i think J t would right the
way he plays against, Them he's been rocking and, Rolling so,
yeah certainly something to keep an eye, on or just
think about going forward to pivot a little bit back
to The pacers for a. SECOND i know the talk
of today is about the point guard And mac McClung
and the. Injuries WHERE i find myself going AND i
(53:49):
get that it's early in the year And i'm not
going to like abandon ship and just, say you, know
mail it In tang get top five. Pick although some
of these players come out in the next year's draft
look amazing so, far and somebody's exhibitions in early, games
what would you consider a win for The? Pacers meaning
the WAY i look at it at this, point knowing
(54:11):
how depleted they are from injury, standpoint their center of
rotation probably isn't gonna get much better throughout the. Season
what's a what's like a real? Win and to, me
does that mean you have an answer to two?
Speaker 1 (54:25):
Questions?
Speaker 2 (54:26):
Really Is matherner? Dude? Now and it's Jars walker? Dude,
like can you can you look back at this season and,
say you, KNOW i Get i'm looking way, ahead but
can you look back at some, point even as the
midway point of the season and, say these guys took
a step forward and they will be a part of
this and help us When tyree's gets. Back, YEAH i
Think i've kind of like adopted. That PROBABLY i don't
know so other probably have done it a little sooner than.
(54:46):
Me but, Yeah i'm kind of getting to that point, where,
like you, know these games are rough so. FAR a
lot of it has to do with the, injury but
if it stays, rough it's, like, okay within, that what
AM i looking at to find a little bit of
like that that silver? Lining?
Speaker 3 (54:57):
YEAH i think an off season topic we discussed it
point was who is a puzzle piece in the Next haliburton?
Window good way to put? It, yeah like with The
Nie smith extension. Undoubtedly now he's one of, them, Right
so again, him, contractually, Him, Siakam, nemhard And halliburton would
be the. Four now the question becomes who? Else and
(55:20):
Mathen walker are obviously those two that you would put
next up in the, category just based off where they're,
drafted based Off In matheren's, case certainly you know more
of the flashes that he's. Shown, YEAH i think that
to Some pacers fans out, there that was maybe the
dominant takeaway or storyline of this entire.
Speaker 1 (55:40):
Season.
Speaker 3 (55:40):
Yeah now to a lot of, others it's wait a.
Minute we just got To game seven THE Nba, finals.
Speaker 2 (55:46):
And i'm, like AM i AM i being a coward
from saying, eh right?
Speaker 3 (55:50):
Early too early to necessarily go all the way down that?
Path AND i KNOW i don't think you, Are but,
like if there is a silver lining to the current,
STATE i do think it's happening right now in the
most brutal part of their. SCHEDULE i, thought out of
the gate it was very difficult and if you're gonna
have a litany of, injuries this would be the time
(56:11):
to have. That the problem is the, Margin freir is
just this. Small, yeah you, know. EVEN i, MEAN i
remember saying Last, Friday, james as we Recap Pacers, thunder
what an epic regular season. Opener that was tremendous, Game
but the dominant storyline Was Andrew dummer's.
Speaker 1 (56:27):
Injury and that's one guy getting.
Speaker 3 (56:29):
Hurt but yet that injury and however long he's going
to be out to me was such a huge. Topic so,
again there are other teams that would have started like,
this other franchise that would start like, this and they're
already white flagging, it and they're already, saying, wait did
you see what The boozer kid did in the exhibition?
Game and you KNOW i, did by the, way and
all of. That and they're, twins, right The boozer. Boys
(56:53):
this Is Carlos boozers offspring, here and this is playing
For duke for Those i'm familiar with, that, obviously you
have the kid from BYU Aj debantsa WHO i, think
by all accounts is probably viewed as more of the
number one pick AND i think he lit it up From.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
Yeah So Cameron boozer is the better. Twin he's the
one this wild to be like the top five. Pick,
okay isn't that? Crazy you, know imagine being a twin
in you're A division one basketball player At duke and it's, like, well,
yeah my brother is better than.
Speaker 3 (57:22):
Me speaking of college. Basketball speaking Of, DUKE i went
over yesterday To Indian sports corpor does such a great
job of. These they do these locker room series a
couple of times a, year and yesterday they had THE
ncaa members of the selection, committee so we know the
final fours here In. April they had members of the
(57:43):
selection committee over there And Anthony calhoun did A q
AND a with, them and it was really well. Done
AND i was reminded kind of listening to. IT i
think we're so used to final fours here in our
own city because the last one was THE Covid final. Four,
yeah this is kind of the first true men's final
four we've had with. FANS i hadn't thought about that
(58:05):
since you go back to twenty. Fifteen, Now i'm scarred
from that final four Because Notre dame had a lead
On kentucky in the final few minutes of that game
in The elite eight In. CLEVELAND i think about that game.
SADLY i think about it way too, Often but that
was Undefeated, Kentucky, Duke Michigan, State, wisconsin and it Was
(58:29):
wisconsin And duke that played for the national. Title Grayson
allen going off in that national title game As duke Beat.
Wisconsin but this will be the First final four again
in eleven years with real fan being, allowed but also
in the fiftieth anniversary OF i use undefeated. Season we
(58:53):
now come back to The final four venue where in
each of the last Two final fours we've, hosted you've
HAD i had an undefeated team. There kentucky was undefeated
in twenty, fifteen And gonzaga was undefeated back in twenty
twenty And Jalen suggs hits the shot to keep that dream.
Alive oh and then they get like crush and Then
(59:15):
baylor just pummeled them in the championship. GAME i remember,
that but that that was WHY i had not tied
all of that. Together And Dan gavitt does an unbelievable
job in providing some of this, info AND i think
he'd be a great guest to have on as we
get closer TO ncaa tournament.
Speaker 2 (59:31):
Time buckner on to talk about that Season valu.
Speaker 3 (59:34):
And looking back on THAT iu. Season but, yeah it
Was it was a fun LITTLE q and. A they
Had greg burn The alabama ad up. There the whole
time he was up, THERE i thought to, myself, gosh
how lucky you see that he's not the LSU A
d where he signs up for THE Ncaa Men's Basketball Selection,
committee and here he is having to look for a new.
Coach But burne mentioned specifically how he holds the criteria
(59:55):
of non conference schedule in really high. Regard and they Have,
purdue you know, Them perdue did the home and home
that was a great game In West offiete last YEARHERE.
Cj cox went off in the second half and had
a big flurry. There and Now purdue will go down.
There and they faced each other up In toronto a
couple of years ago with With Zach. Edy so it
(01:00:16):
was interesting to kind of hear some of the. Criteria
AND i do think from a non conference, schedule, Again
purdue has always done, this you, know they HAVE i
think it's Six marquee games on their non conference schedule
this year It's Iowa, state you, know it's The Indie
classic here With. AUBURN i think It's marquette as. WELL
i didn't Think Mike woodson had done that lately At,
indiana BUT i Think Darren devree started to get back,
(01:00:37):
there not to the degree That perdue, is.
Speaker 1 (01:00:39):
WHICH i get.
Speaker 3 (01:00:40):
It when you're preseason ranked number, one you probably want
to throw even more of those tests at your. Team
But idiano's got a little bit more of that this.
Year they Have marquette in The United, Center they've Got
louisville here In gabridgefield. Outs The kentucky series is starting back.
Up SO i just found that interesting and it honestly
got me, Thinking, JAMES i can't wait for The Final.
Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
Four you're internally geting ahead of yourself. There for for,
sure we got to get through like The costball playoff
in THE nfl, playoffs but, yes The finallloween that that.
Too Through. October have you guys gotten your your costumes?
Yet can you?
Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
Share or?
Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
No are the kids?
Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
Listening mark's here Comparing. HALLOWEEN i gotta Get.
Speaker 3 (01:01:18):
HALLOWEEN i GOT i gotta get through all the.
Speaker 2 (01:01:20):
Candy you know, what that was the most parent thing
you probably said in a, While, March what.
Speaker 3 (01:01:24):
Candy CAN i take out of their? Bucket and put in.
Speaker 5 (01:01:26):
MIND i was annoyed BECAUSE i went to the mall
yesterday BECAUSE i was getting my glasses. FIXED i was,
like the hell's going? On all These christmas trees are up,
Already we're not even A halloween.
Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
Yet let's get going to the, mall which first long
people don't even do. THAT i haven't been to a.
Mall and then to get my glasses, fixed which also
are you sixty.
Speaker 5 (01:01:45):
Nor parker has a very limited like on to day.
Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
Too but, yeah getting back to you know your, Point,
KEVIN i would, Agree i'm looking forward to just that,
environment and, HONESTLY i think in all serious Is i'm
trying to tell myself, like, LOOK i know you cover,
sports but when these opportunities kind of come to your,
city you probably should take an opportunity to try to
experience it as a, fan BECAUSE i just haven't done
(01:02:12):
that a lot of my. Life So i'm very much
looking forward to having an, opportunity hopefully to get in
the building for A final four. GAME i don't care who's,
playing just to be around that energy because that'll be
a certainly something, to you, know check off the bucket.
LIST i.
Speaker 3 (01:02:23):
Think mark to support you and the old man comments
that you have uttered here in the last ninety, Seconds
halloween weather looks out standing For, Friday, yes it, does
based off what we've had precipitation extremely. Low, yeah and
we're talking a high. Fifteen why don't we be able
to see? Great he's got his glasses, fixed, Yea so.
Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
Sign my knee won't be acting up because the cold
weather blows. IN i was going to the. Mall it's
like farra.
Speaker 5 (01:02:43):
Gun, Yes i'll take one if we have one at,
home But i'll take another one Right. Okay, YEAH i
was on the way to the mall AND i Saw
kevin's mugs staring at me from a. Billboard i'm, LIKE
i can't escape, this, Man i'm.
Speaker 1 (01:02:52):
Sorry, yeah it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:54):
Was the commercial was on The Monday Night football last.
NIGHT i was, like oh, boy here we, go hoping
to Get Rick carlile in there On Central. Times So
i'm sure probably a little bit of an early morning,
There pacers And MAVs coming up. Tomorrow let's go ahead
with a morning.
Speaker 1 (01:03:07):
Checkdown.
Speaker 3 (01:03:14):
James you got it out of the way pretty quickly
With shane Stike in and The zoom. Yesterday Daniel, Jones Tyler,
warren THOSE i would say pretty noticeable hits of their
heads that happen On.
Speaker 1 (01:03:25):
Sunday doesn't appear to be anything lingering with.
Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
That, No so that is obviously a very good thing
for This colts. Team And i'm sorry to EVERYONE i
scared via social. Media by the WAY i worded my
tweet to follow up to that. NEWS i THINK i
kind of gave him a, little you, know jump scare
at the, beginning and everyone kind of gave a deep
sigh of relief.
Speaker 3 (01:03:44):
Afterwards so no concushion protocol From Shane stike in with
those two guys. Yesterday so good news on that. Front,
again off day for The colts, today they'll get back to.
Practice it is.
Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
The Iron eagle crew.
Speaker 3 (01:03:55):
Again Iron EAGLE Jj watt coming Up sunday at one
o'clock and The.
Speaker 1 (01:03:59):
Colts what is? It markets it? Right at? Three three? Point?
Favorite is that?
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
Right LAST i?
Speaker 5 (01:04:03):
Checked, YEAH i didn't step till eighteen innings, though so
it might have adjusted since.
Speaker 3 (01:04:07):
Very rare favorite in that. One James boyd did stay
up for all eighteen. Innings, james the first thing you
said to me WAS i could not believe the amount
of defensive. Place, lord have mercy in getting it to
a second man. GAME i, mean these aren't like just pop.
Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
Flies these are like double plays and you, know, UH i,
know show hey got tagged out on trying to steal
a base, THERE i think in the twelfth, inning and
just little like the intricacies of the game at the highest,
level the highest pressure, moments both teams pictures for the most,
part getting out of, jams the situation that you were
probably like cry if you were having that. Situation it
was incredible to. Watch and, honestly my biggest takeaway After
(01:04:46):
Freddy freeman hit that walk off game winner in the eighteenth,
was if you are a true die hard you, Know toronto,
Fan dodgers, fan how do you like make it to
that game with a heart? Medicine because, Oh i'm glad
THAT i don't have any like real investments in it
BECAUSE i was on pins and needles And i'm just
the guy who's just you, know walking by.
Speaker 5 (01:05:09):
So hard medicine and cocaine because that's eighteen that's a long. Game,
yeah energy for.
Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
THAT i don't know if that's if that's quite the
duo you want.
Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
There eighteen, innings six hundred and nine, pitches thirty seven
runners left on, base twenty five position players, used nineteen.
Pitchers it Was Freddie freeman a deep shot to center
in the eighteenth to win it six. FIVE a couple
of moments to, Note Clayton kershaw helps The dodgers get
(01:05:36):
out of a bases loaded jam in the twelfth And
Shohei otani four for, four two, doubles two. Homers he
was walked intentionally four, times man came to the plate
nine times and got on base every single. TIME i
don't think we needed anything to. Further tani is one
(01:05:57):
of the greatest baseball players of all, time but to
do it on stage just takes it to another.
Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
Love, yeah he's gonna pitch. Today i'm, like how are you?
Speaker 9 (01:06:04):
Real?
Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
AGAIN i see people like? Him Jonathan taylor Wimin yambo
you used the word, alien, right, Yes And i'm, like
how are you the same species as? ME i actually
don't think they are so. LIKE i have to make
the joke That Shane stikeen is LIKE. Ai he just
goes into the offense and plugs. IN i think J,
t who we know he loves, space just go goes
and gets in the spaceship and then comes back on
(01:06:25):
game day.
Speaker 3 (01:06:26):
Shout out to the, bilpit the doors Will climb pitched
the final four endings there for The.
Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
Dodgers about that.
Speaker 2 (01:06:30):
Too wasn't that like a career like? LONG i want to,
SAY i don't know what the proper retirements for baseball
black sequence or pitching responsibilities. Whatever it was, like he
never pitched that much in an actual, game.
Speaker 3 (01:06:44):
AND i THOUGHT i Saw sandy Or Jeff passon mentioned
this THE espn writer That Sandy kofax wanted to seek
Out will clin postgame to acknowledge that that's aw for
what he.
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
Did SO i think it's all.
Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
Kind of shows you everything that happened last night In
game three of The World, series all, Right hoping to
get To Rick carlisle here and on the other, side
some good news down In bloomington For kurtzignatti and one
of his star players will hit on.
Speaker 1 (01:07:07):
That coming up. Next it is The Fan Morning show
here on A. Tuesday good morning, Off Your tuesday is
off and running. Well hopefully to catch up With Rick
carlyle sometime this. MORNING i know he's on the road
and at different time, zone so hopefully things are going
okay for. Him pacers go with The Dallas mavericks tomorrow
night and you'll hear that one live as you all
Pay PACER's game in ninety three five one of seventy
(01:07:28):
Five The, Fan James, Boyd Kevin, Bowen Mark, dyton good
morning And. Mark it's just fun that everybody everywhere is
talking about The Indianapolis, colts even all the national shows
and the pre game and everything like. That it's just
fun to tune on THE tv and hear him talking
about your team Every. Sunday it's. Nice it's kind of
cool like. That and the other, Day Peyton manning was
(01:07:51):
ON Nfl Sunday countdown AND i know you had sent
this along To, mark and they asked him his thoughts
On Daniel jones and what he's doing for the cults right.
Speaker 5 (01:07:58):
Now, Well Teddy, bruski Former, patriot obviously says he's not
a believer In Daniel. Jones so The patriots And colts
rivalry eating up a little. Bit so the song this
is their exchange inside.
Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
That, Well, peyton thanks for joining us.
Speaker 12 (01:08:14):
HERE i think it's great to see you BECAUSE i
need a little bit of help, actually BECAUSE i cannot
get on board With Daniel. Jones all, Right Daniel jones
and your old cold team of, course it's great to
see both of our former teams going doing great in
terms of The patriots and The. Colts but something's just
holding me back from going all the way in With
Daniel jones in The. Colts can you try to convince,
me because these guys can't convince.
Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
ME i need some.
Speaker 13 (01:08:36):
Help, Well, teddy, LISTEN i Think Shane stiken is an
outstanding play, caller always has, been and Now Daniel jones
is executing his. Offense, Look Jonathan, TAYLOR i think either
Here Baker mayfield or prop of THE mvp right. Now
AND i think With daniel And JONATHAN knt doing their,
THINGS i like the way the colt are. Playing so,
(01:08:57):
Look i'm proud Of. Daniel you, know obviously things don't.
Speaker 8 (01:09:00):
Work out In New.
Speaker 13 (01:09:01):
YORK i love to see these quarterbacks in their second.
Chapter Alah, Darnold Alah, baker A Lah. Daniels So i'm
all on board with The, colts and, uh, look it's
hard to get These patriots to like The. COLTS i get, It,
penny but jump on.
Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
Board maybe that's what we. Need we need The patriots.
On but can you imagine another edition guys Of Patriots
colts in the playoffs coming up later on this. Year
that's what we're adding for, now is that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:26):
Contrived i'm a patriot and you're a Cult so let's
drum up some ON, ESPN espn, THREE nfl one o'clock
disagreement there.
Speaker 2 (01:09:36):
That would never.
Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
Happen what Did james on THE espn on any of
their formats or.
Speaker 2 (01:09:39):
PROGRAMS i thought they probably do have like some a
little bit of like not like real. Beef but at this, point,
hey we saw each other in some big games through the,
year So i'm always gonna stick on my side with my.
Guys Drake may AND i want to hear what you
gotta say about your Guy Daniel, jones you, know as far.
Speaker 3 (01:09:54):
As, Jones, YEAH i Mean january football is a different.
Animal AND i don't know how how Much bruski is
maybe alluding to, that but like so far through eight,
GAMES i don't you, KNOW i thought he delivered in
the fourth quarter Against. ARIZONA i get he hasn't probably
been put into many fourth quarter moments yet through eight. Weeks,
again part of that is a credit to him and
(01:10:16):
their football team for just treating some of these opponents
like it's homecoming in college or high school. Here BUT
i think it's just a slap in the face Of
Daniel jones to express to the first eight weeks of the,
season you, know a large amount of. Skepticism, again if
you want to have some pause About january, football, sure
but to, me it's a little bit of a contrived
(01:10:39):
patriot versus cult. Take if you want to go as
fully there As Teddy bruski.
Speaker 1 (01:10:43):
Did, Well so what.
Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
You're saying is, hey with some. Conviction, yes, WELL i
just that's exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
It, LIKE i, guess do you Have Daniel jones skepticism
Like Teddy bruski.
Speaker 1 (01:10:55):
Has let's just go. There you, KNOW i.
Speaker 2 (01:10:59):
TON'T i was, asking, like on a scale one to,
ten how much do you believe in? Them BUT i
probably had like a seven right. Now and to your
point about the playoff, football the other three is probably that.
RIGHT i think that he's been one of the ten
best quarterbacks in football easily this.
Speaker 3 (01:11:14):
Season, YEAH i mean, again IF i want to you,
know magnifying glass.
Speaker 2 (01:11:19):
At, oh he might be tough, five but, continue.
Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
You, know down four with two thirty two to go
on the Clock sunday In pittsburgh And renegades playing and
The colts take over at their own eighteen yard. Line, okay,
sure you, know maybe that's a moment that is different
than Even arizona at home when you were down, seven down.
Three i'm trying to think The rams. Game The rams.
(01:11:43):
GAME i, guess you know, what you had about a
minute left there when you took, over and he did
throw that. Pick but STILL i don't think it's exactly
apples to. APPLES i, mean that would be the. One
but to, me you, Know bruski's you, know comment there
just sounded a little bit more rooted in just, Hey
i'm A. Patriot let me drum something up.
Speaker 4 (01:11:59):
Here.
Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
Yeah and of course second half of the schedule is
a waiting and we're gonna find out a lot about
The colts because they got a lot of road games
for their next sixer on the. Road those games include
The steelers this coming, week and then after their trip
To germany against The, falcons they play At Kansas. City
then they are home against The texans At jacksonville At.
Seattle who's playing good football right? Now depending on who's,
(01:12:22):
healthy how good are the forty nine ers is going
to be when they show up here on The december twenty,
second and then home against The jaguars and at The
texans after. That so that last part of the, season
that's the rest of the. Schedule there's a lot of
tough football games right. There we're gonna find out a
lot about this. TEAM i, think you know, WHAT i
think one of the questions or.
Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
Situations we put players in when we're in the media
and we talk to them and it's, like, oh this
tough part of your schedules coming, up and all these
guys are always, like wait a. Second you, know we
were supposed to be the doormat for a few teams this,
year and the way we opened the season was supposed
to be tough Against denver and you, know a few other.
(01:13:06):
Opponents but now that they're, rolling it's, like, well since
we're top, dogs our schedule is suddenly easy all of a.
Sudden SO i think that's always interesting dynamics to kind
of ask players, about And i'll probably dig more into
it as we get to some of these bigger. Matchups it's,
like are they bigger to us just because of the,
names or you, know is it different because you've handled
your business so much so to the point where you
(01:13:27):
know you're just looking for that next. CHALLENGER i, mean
none of us thought that The colts were going to
be this good for this, quickly and also this. LONG
i mean seven and. One there are two plays away
from being undefeated this. Year so, that to me is
always a very unique position for a player to be.
In is, like, oh you, know now are you going
to get more amped up because the schedule gets. Harder it's, like,
(01:13:47):
well was it not? Hard or we're not supposed to
be hard because you were supposed to be garbage and
you're in you're, Not so that's.
Speaker 1 (01:13:53):
Interesting, Yeah and, look they had a road game in
which they made a couple of mistakes against The, rams
and then they had a game in which they took
care of The. Chargers so they have played some good
teams at this point in. Time The, broncos that game
looks better and better all the. Time as we talked about.
YESTERDAY i, know they got a little bit of a
break there at the, end but they took advantage of
that and it turns Out broncos are pretty good football.
(01:14:13):
Team so they've played a couple of really good football
teams so.
Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
Far and god bless leverage penalties right.
Speaker 1 (01:14:20):
Now it word for w this. Year that could be
the differ between the one and the two. Seed that'll be,
crazy all, sudden none of what and again only one
by in THE nfl.
Speaker 3 (01:14:29):
Playoffs Just scott To carlyle in twenty so just mismmunication
on our end from an Eastern central time zone. Standpoint
So Rick carlisle's combo should take place here at the
top of the.
Speaker 1 (01:14:41):
Hour all, right we're looking forward to. That we'll take
a quick time. Out AND i did go up and
look up the very LATEST NFL mvp. Ods we were
talking about that an hour, ago and so far the
oddsmakers aren't completely convinced On Daniel jones. Yet we'll talk
about that in the. Moment on ninety three five and
one seventy. Five a little while, ago we were talking
ABOUT Mvp Jonathan. Taylor could a running back do? It
(01:15:01):
Could Jonathan taylor do it if he keeps up this
torrid pace of touchdowns and yards and talked about the
fact that it just is a quarterback award at this
point in, time and it seems to be reflected in
the latest fan dual. Odds that was looking those up
a few minutes ago during the break and guess who's
back on top at plus one fifty to win The
Most Valuable Player? Award Kevin.
Speaker 3 (01:15:22):
Bowen i'm gonna guess number fifteen who we saw last.
Speaker 1 (01:15:25):
Night it's Me Patrick. Mahomes is That KERMAN i was
going to, say was that a FRON i was gonna,
say aren't they the same? Person, well one who plays
football better than the other? One? Uh, Yeah Patrick mahomes
at plus one, Fifty Josh allen at plus four, Hundred
Drake may at plus four, fifty Then Jonathan, taylor as
you had pointed out mark at plus fourteen. Hundred quite
(01:15:47):
to drop off, there you have to go all the
way to tenth to Find Daniel jones at plus two.
Thousand so the folks pouring money into these types of
things and set in odds don't quite believe In Daniel
jones Yet they're not there.
Speaker 4 (01:16:03):
Yet.
Speaker 3 (01:16:04):
Yeah, AGAIN i Think i've stated in MY mvp thoughts on.
It shout out to Listener. Aaron aaron mentioned, here you,
know maybe you rewrite the acronym TO. Mp you, know
don't we do that in the final? Four was not
right standing? PLAYER i think not rewriting. Nothing just get
it right and give it TO. Jt that's kind of
a good way to uh to put it. THERE i
(01:16:26):
do want to bring this, up And, JAMES i. DON'T
i don't think it's a huge. Deal and obviously defensive
scheme has. Changed but did you epen to notice how
many Tackles Ire franklin had On? SUNDAY i actually. Didn't
Zara franklin had two tackles On, sunday the fewest since
(01:16:48):
he became a full time starter four years. Ago if
you look at his tackle numbers in, general this is
a man that led the league in tackles last. Season
they have gone way. Down Jermaine, pratt who came over
what about a month, ago has kind of walked into
the building and HAS i think been the leading tackle
or in at least a couple of games.
Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
So far with.
Speaker 3 (01:17:11):
Him is this Simply Gus bradley's scheme funneled Things Tosire
franklin and The colts defense was on the field a
million plays last Season and who? Cares or is this
something that you maybe pay a little bit more attention
to zero solo tackles For Zara franklin On.
Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
SUNDAY i wonder how much he fits this scheme as
far as his skill, set you, know you look at
some of the defense that had success With luenarumo In,
cincinnati and they had the more rangy corner off the
Cornerbacks i'm, sorry linebackers who could run and really cover
and kind of play in space a little bit better
perhaps SINCE i. Hear but at the same, TIME i
(01:17:52):
do think that the defense was on the field way
too much last, year and he would probably agree that
he would take the wins and with kind of had
success as a team this year over the individual success
he's had in years. Past but, YEAH i think that
even with all that in, mind he's not playing at
an all pro. Level there's no world around WHERE i
can even see. THAT i think that he's been kind
(01:18:14):
of just like a fine linebacker in the. System a
couple of good plays here and, there but certainly not
a player THAT i think that comes to MIND i
think of playmakers for this.
Speaker 3 (01:18:25):
Defense and we should note he obviously missed some time
throughout the off. Season you, know he had the ankle
procedure and early camp right, That, yeah a huge chunk of.
Camp you, know that was a big a change for.
Him and you, know a guy Like Nick cross has
CERTAINLY i think been much more of a line of
scrimmage guy and has you, know been up there and
(01:18:46):
tackles as. Well but it's just unusual to, see you,
know if you look at the last four, years and
obviously defensive scheme has, changed but if you looked at,
IT i mean every single game you look at the
box score and booms Are franklin ten, tackles eleven tackle,
twelve you, know double digit tackle. Numbers and obviously he
didn't play a good chunk of the fourth quarter On,
sunday but still for him to play forty some snaps
(01:19:08):
and only have two tackles is very.
Speaker 1 (01:19:11):
Unusual how much of it is a combination of all
those things that maybe he's not the perfect fit For,
lenarumo maybe because of what he did last. Year maybe
there's a little bit of an offensive game plan to
kind of stay away from him and not flow things towards.
Him maybe it's just all kinds of different, things coming
off the, injury not having a ton of. Camp maybe
it's just a little bit of everything in that cast role.
Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
There, James, YEAH i kind of laid that out, already
BUT i, mean revisit. IT i THINK i think there
will probably be some conversations to be. Had is this
in last? Year, no it's not last year of his.
DEAL i think this is the last guaranteed year in his.
Contract i'm not saying you go out and get rid
Of Zion. FRANKLIN i think he's been a kind of
(01:19:54):
like a staple in your, franchise and certainly somebody you
can look at the locker room and, say, hey if
you work hard and you do the thing you're supposed to,
do you can become who you want to be in
this league as far as being a full time, starter
going from special team's ace to full time starter To All.
Pro BUT i do think there's questions about the. Fit
AND i look at playmakers in this. Defense you can,
(01:20:16):
say even with that front THAT i think doesn't nearly
have enough, disruptiveness you have an elite playmaker In DeForest.
Buckner he makes things. Happen you go to your linebacker,
Group i'm not seeing. That, granted linebackers are kind of
devalued in lun remote, system so we'll keep that in.
Mind but in any of the secondary you look At Kim
(01:20:40):
binam And Cerious war before the, injury those were. Playmakers
those guys that change. Games SO i just don't think
they really have a game changing linebacker on their team right.
Now and maybe that's something, that, again no team's ever
gonna be. Perfect you're not going to, have you, know
every single spot fill to the brim with you, know
the perfect, fit the top. Talent but you're looking at
tweaking something he's going. Forward that could be a spot
(01:21:01):
where you, know you have to look at and really
evaluate and see what's, worked what hasn't. Worked and If
Leuin romo is OUR, dc which he will be for
the foreseeable, future how can we get some players in
here that kind of mirror more to his. Style the thing, is.
Speaker 1 (01:21:16):
Though when you look at possible moves that The colts
might want to, make they even look at, linebacker secondary
or defensive en, RIGHT i wanted to look at.
Speaker 3 (01:21:24):
LINEBACKER i want to be clear, Here just BECAUSE i
bring it up doesn't mean THAT i think whatever IS
i Or franklin needs to be bench or anything like.
Speaker 1 (01:21:31):
That i'm just saying the linebacker is not going to
be something they look.
Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
At to, me you got to rank the needs and,
sure To james's, point you'd want everything to be perfect
in pristine and every position group gets a first round.
Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
Pick AND i hate myself from WHEN i nitpick like, that,
Right but so.
Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
In ranking THAT i gotta go with pass, rush then,
corner and then a big drop to. Linebacker, YES i
think linebacker play could and probably needs to GET i think.
Speaker 1 (01:21:56):
That's because it's devalue to lose.
Speaker 3 (01:21:57):
System but, yes and you just have to live in
some sense of reality. Too in assembling pieces on the,
DIVS mo points out here the offensive line play for The.
Speaker 1 (01:22:05):
Colts.
Speaker 3 (01:22:06):
YEAH, A i think it's been very very, good AND
b it's been very very. Healthy you, Know i'm watching
that game last night and both those teams missing offensive line,
STARTERS i, Think and it's trending like The colts will
have their offensive line attacked again On. SUNDAY i, mean
you've had YOUR o line together for eight of nine,
weeks eight of nine. Weeks the only time you didn't
(01:22:28):
have YOUR ow line together you Lost mackensolvez with that toe.
INJURY i mean that you know he could boil the
whole season down to a numerous you, know stats and
correlations and this and, that and offensive line health is
probably something THAT. A i haven't talked about enough and
or we haven't talked about enough and probably deserves even more.
Credit so you, know, again how could this? Thing you,
(01:22:48):
know when does THE nfl humble? You you, know it
always humbles you. Seemingly you, know look a look at
The chargers and the offensive tackle injuries that they've had
to deal, with and they Get Joe, alter their stud
left tackle, back and they beat the brains off Of
minnesota On Thursday night.
Speaker 1 (01:23:01):
Football so.
Speaker 3 (01:23:03):
You, know do we see any offensive line injuries develop
it all here in the second half of the.
Speaker 1 (01:23:08):
Season, well stay healthy is always a, big big key
if you want to go on a run on The
National Football. League we'll talk more about the cults a
little bit later on in the show nine point. Thirty JOEL.
A rickson From The Indie star is going to join
us as we continue our discussion about a seven and
one football team that is the best record of THE.
Nfl coming up, Next Rick carlisle from The Indiana pacers
set to join us as they get ready for a
(01:23:30):
game against The Dallas mavericks tomorrow. Night it's ninety three
five at one o seven five the fan.
Speaker 3 (01:23:35):
Nine o'clock hour here on A tuesday. Morning Kevin, Bowen
James boyd And Mark dyton with you ninety three five
one seventy. Five the fan should be Getting Rick carlisle
on the phone line here. Shortly they are in The
central time. Zone they've got The Dallas. MAVERICKS i Guess
Rick carlisle back in his old home there coming up tomorrow.
(01:23:58):
Night maps have struggled early this. Season Cooper flag playing
through a left shoulder, injury so they'll see the number
one pick coming up tomorrow, night rounding out a three
game road, trip and then they'll be at home back
to back coming up this, weekend and then they'll go
out west here coming up early In. November so to
(01:24:18):
talk more about all of, it how about a happy
belated birthday to our next, guest The pacers head. Coach
he Is Rick carlisle.
Speaker 1 (01:24:23):
Coach good morning to. You how are you?
Speaker 4 (01:24:27):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (01:24:28):
Uh the, NEWS i guess last week we had the
news Of monday night With AARON. E smith last Night mac.
McClung what led to you guys deciding on? Him and
is he somebody that will be available to you as
early as tomorrow?
Speaker 4 (01:24:40):
Night?
Speaker 8 (01:24:43):
Yeah He we had a workout yesterday with with three
guys and He, uh he basically won the won the
position he. Did he did a great job in the.
Workout it's clear that he's In he's in at least
at least pretty good. SHAPE i think he was either
(01:25:05):
practicing with The CHICAGO G league team or getting ready
to and.
Speaker 4 (01:25:09):
Uh so he.
Speaker 8 (01:25:12):
He separated himself uh in the workout yesterday and so
uh you know today he'll be he'll be in the Anafacer,
RICK i know.
Speaker 2 (01:25:21):
You're just getting introduced to like his skill set and
him getting introduced to what you all want to do
as a. Team but for the fan, base he's known
as the three time Dunk. Champ what stands out to
you about his actual basketball? Skills Says beyond has been
a high.
Speaker 4 (01:25:34):
Flyer, well he could. Score he's a hard playing. Guy you.
Speaker 8 (01:25:40):
Know for for all the things we did in the workout, Yesterday,
uh you, know he didn't dunk the ball, Once so
let's get off of the of the dunking. Thing is
is kind of the the attraction. Here you, know we
need a guy that has, energy can go, hard is,
HEALTHY i think is healthy.
Speaker 4 (01:25:59):
Is the number one.
Speaker 8 (01:26:01):
Thing and that can play a couple of, positions so
you know he can play, point he can play play
off the, ball and you know he's had some very
GOOD ada. Games ALTHOUGH i think this is, TRUE i
believe this is the FIRST nba contract he's just.
Speaker 4 (01:26:20):
SIGNED i know he's been in he's been.
Speaker 8 (01:26:22):
On a two way with some clubs and gotten SOME
nba time as a two, way BUT i don't believe
he's ever gotten any time or or signed a uniformed
player contract veteran player contract ever before. This so it's
a big opportunity of BIG Momentram.
Speaker 3 (01:26:44):
Pacers maps coming up tomorrow night rounds out a road
trip For indiana before they return. Home Rick carlisle with
us here on The Payless Slickers.
Speaker 1 (01:26:51):
Hotline.
Speaker 3 (01:26:52):
COACH i know you mentioned over the weekend you're still
awaiting kind of some imaging On Andrew, nemhard maybe more
Of Benedict. Matheren any up dates on those two guys
on how long they could be?
Speaker 4 (01:27:02):
Out, Yeah, No.
Speaker 1 (01:27:07):
Have you have you ever dealt with anything like?
Speaker 3 (01:27:09):
THIS i, mean it's it's incredible how long the injury list,
is particularly this early in the.
Speaker 1 (01:27:15):
SEASON i, mean you've obviously coached a long.
Speaker 3 (01:27:17):
Time have you ever had to deal with such an injury,
list particularly in you, know the month Of, October.
Speaker 4 (01:27:24):
Uh not not like. THIS i, mean you, know we
we went through.
Speaker 8 (01:27:31):
The brawl stuff and we were very depleted uh as
a team during that and we had to bring in
a lot of reinforcements and you, know there was a
lot of stuff going on with suspensions at that, time
so we actually had less players available in a few
of the games at that. Time so but this is
(01:27:54):
this is. Different and you, know one thing you can
you can surmise from this looking at us In Oklahoma.
CITY i Think Oklahoma city has seven guys out or
did leading to last. Night they Played dallas last. Night
(01:28:15):
we now have eight guys out and both teams played
to the very last day of the. Season so, yeah
it's it's very possible that you, know playing to playing
that number of games may may be part of.
Speaker 4 (01:28:32):
This you, know it may.
Speaker 8 (01:28:34):
Not some of these injuries really you, know like a
like something related to a left, shoulder like With, nemard
you can't really trace that, to you, know playing a
lot last year and having a short. Summer but h
and you Know ben stepping on a guy's foot In,
memphis that's you, know that's that's bad. Luck whether you
(01:28:56):
know certainly more than, Anything but it's an interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
Coincidence, again we Have pacers head Coach Rick carlisle joining
us only pay less lookers. Hotline, rick you Called Pascal
siakam a total warrior the other night and in situations like.
This he's always been a leader for this team since
joining the franchise a couple of years. Ago but how
much more do you look towards him to kind of
help the group. WIN a lot of that group might
(01:29:24):
not have played, together they might be, young, inexperience and
here's a guy who's won a championship and been An
ALL nba player and obviously been very professional throughout HIS nba.
Speaker 4 (01:29:32):
Tenure, yeah no question about.
Speaker 8 (01:29:35):
IT i, mean his, leadership, obviously his skill set on the,
floor you, know are going to be massive components for
us to be able to compete at the level we
need you had to have a chance to win. Games
so he's been eve been great ever since he came.
Speaker 4 (01:29:55):
Here you, know his voice has.
Speaker 8 (01:30:00):
Merged and gotten stronger over the months and now now
years since he's been. HERE i guess he's been here
about a, year about a year and a, half maybe
probably a little longer NOW i think it's Late january
of twenty four and so, YEAH i mean in this
(01:30:20):
kind of, situation you look to your best players for
leadership on the, floor in the locker. Room The minnesota
game was an obvious example of his, greatness you, know
as both a player and a, leader and just you,
know there was a strong willed defiance that you, know
(01:30:41):
we were Gonna we're gonna hang in that game and
give ourselves a chance up to the very. End and
you know he was a, major major part of.
Speaker 3 (01:30:49):
That carlisle with us here, Again pacers And mavericks coming
up tomorrow night to say round out a road, trip.
Coach you, know When bennetccnatheren went down On saturday, night
you know he is on one of those heaters in
the third. Quarter but we had talked about a play
that really stood out to us. Yesterday was you, know
amidst that, heater you, know he Finds Ben, shephard you
(01:31:09):
know for three kind of pump, face gets in the,
lane kicks it out AND i don't, know maybe that's
a play that he doesn't make as a rookie or
something along those. Lines albeit a very small sample, size
but what were you seen From ben here to start the.
Speaker 1 (01:31:24):
Season prior to the, Injury, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:31:27):
You, know significant growth and you, know really in all.
Areas you, know he.
Speaker 8 (01:31:34):
Was taken on more difficult defensive matchups offensively obviously carrying
more of a. Load his awareness of the floor has gotten,
better his reads have gotten. Better you, know coaches have
done a great job setting up situations for a big
(01:31:55):
reads and practice him along with a lot of our,
guys and it's really being you, know to see that
kind of. Improvement so he's a he's a guy that you,
know really ever since the moment he was, drafted and
even even before. That you, KNOW i think the story
(01:32:18):
has been told many times when he came in for
his draft workout that he wanted to go back in
that night work out.
Speaker 4 (01:32:26):
Again he wanted to he wanted to.
Speaker 8 (01:32:28):
Learn he reiterated that he you, know wanted to be
pushed to be the best possible player that he. Could
and and, so, uh you, know he he'd backed, up
he backed up those words and, claims and so you,
know this continues to be a very important year for.
Speaker 3 (01:32:44):
Him, Uh center, clarity do you have anything? More through three,
GAMES i felt Like Tony bradley gave you some nice.
Minutes the other, night obviously The James wiseman move probably
opens up you, know maybe a little bit more clarity
just with sheer. Numbers but what have you seen from
your center position here through the first three, Games.
Speaker 8 (01:33:05):
Well all of them have gotten pretty significant. Opportunity they
all bring some unique skill set stuff that's going to.
Speaker 4 (01:33:14):
Be very important to our.
Speaker 8 (01:33:16):
Team and so you, know we need all of them
in terms, of you, know, what what does this thing look?
Like you, know who the who's the definite, starter who's
the definite, backup all that kind of.
Speaker 4 (01:33:30):
Stuff you.
Speaker 8 (01:33:30):
Know the other, night we we Started huff.
Speaker 4 (01:33:33):
At four because of our.
Speaker 8 (01:33:36):
Roster situation and just simply simply trying to balance it
out so that you, know we could we could sub
on a more or less normal. Basis and he did
some good, things you, know as as the start.
Speaker 4 (01:33:50):
Forward So.
Speaker 8 (01:33:53):
Memphis And minnesota both teams that start the, Game Big
dallas another big. Team so you, know if he doesn't
start it for you, know he is a very good
chance he'll see some some more minutes of that. Position
and you, know right, now you know a lot of
(01:34:13):
guys are getting their feet wet doing some different things
than probably they've ever. Done but we're gonna have to
turn those things into.
Speaker 2 (01:34:20):
Positives, rick tomorrow, night you all Face Cooper flag for
the first, time AND i know he's a rookie and
things can change a lot from him for what he
looks like right now versus later in the, season but,
Earlier scott and report on. Him what stands out to
you about the numb one pick in the.
Speaker 8 (01:34:34):
Draft, yeah he's a great, PLAYER i, mean a great young.
Player so you, know it's it's rare you find a
guy that's you know what is he sixty nine six
ten that can, dribble, pass, shoot and make. PLAYS i
(01:34:58):
mean he made plays off the dribble with the, ball you,
know passes at the, least lobbs at the last second too,
lively and some of their bigs and and he finds.
People you, Know it's it's pretty, amazing you. KNOW i, Mean,
dallas think of the fortune of the house has they
(01:35:20):
had Had donchets and now they now they have this
guy as a, rookie you, Know and SO i would
be cautious to make make a lot of comparisons between
the two of, them.
Speaker 4 (01:35:34):
But there there there are some.
Speaker 8 (01:35:36):
SIMILARITIES i, mean you look at the, size the ability
to create, shots the passing, division all that kind of.
Stuff and we're talking about a very specially young Player Rick.
Speaker 3 (01:35:51):
Carlisle again WITH us Here Pacers MAVs coming up tomorrow. Night,
COACH i See Tyrres aliburn is traveling with, you, guys
and you, KNOW i, know you know him being a
player and you being a. Coach maybe it's a slightly,
different but you had a couple of different stints in
your coaching career where you didn't coach within your whatever
your two decade plus run of. Coaching did you find
(01:36:13):
those years when you weren't coaching beneficial for you in any,
way shape or, Form and it can you at all
maybe compare that to What tyresee is going through this.
Speaker 8 (01:36:23):
YEAR i, did, Yeah and it was always an opportunity
to take a step back view the game as more
of a you, know from a from from, afar more
of a broad strokes macro.
Speaker 4 (01:36:45):
View of.
Speaker 8 (01:36:46):
It and you, know when you when you coach day to,
day it's a you, know it's a, crucible it's it's
there's there's a lot of intensity to, it et, cetera et.
Cetera it can be an opportunity not only to view
the game from a different, perspective but to uh to
(01:37:06):
rearge the, batteries you. Know and so, yeah coming off
of last year where you, Know tyree's had such a
such an amazing, YEAR i, mean and it was it
was it was a winding, road you. Know it's it
started out slow for, him and and then as he
got got his legs and his rhythm and all, that you,
(01:37:30):
know things really started to turn In december and and,
uh you, know we got other guys back that were
hurt and all, that and and then you, know you, Know, January, February, March,
APRIL i, mean you, know he did some he did
some amazing, things and then the guy ends up ALL,
nba you, know so and then the long run and
again you, know this is you go to the very
(01:37:53):
last possible. Day you, know that's a lot of physical
and emotional where and and so you never you never
want to say that it's that it's a much needed,
thing or that if a needed thing that a player you, know.
Speaker 4 (01:38:13):
Takes a year.
Speaker 8 (01:38:13):
Off but you always look for positives as to why
a situation can present, opportunity and certainly this, one this
ONE i think does and and he's taking advantage of,
it you. Know and AND i think you know many
people have seen there was it was probably On.
Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
Instagram you.
Speaker 8 (01:38:33):
Know he he dunked the ball last, week you, Know
and so this guy's doing phenomenally well with his. Rehabit
and you, know he and he And Jason tatum, BOTH
i Mean tatim had dunked the ball a couple of
week Before tyrese. Had and of course his injury happened
a few a couple three or four weeks Before tyrese
(01:38:54):
is and so he was he was a little a
little ahead of ahead Of tyrese in terms of the
timetable for injury. Recovery and of course he's taller, Too
and you, KNOW i can contribute to somebody dunk in
the ball a little bit sooner than the.
Speaker 4 (01:39:09):
Other but, yeah, no.
Speaker 8 (01:39:12):
He's finding he's finding the. Positives and you, KNOW i
think this would be a great question to ask him
at some.
Speaker 2 (01:39:19):
Point, well, coach thank you for the.
Speaker 3 (01:39:21):
Time, again as we, said a happy belated birthday to
you from. Yesterday halloween upcoming on the schedule here On.

Vivid halloween memories for?
Speaker 4 (01:39:41):
You? Uh not, Really i'm.
Speaker 8 (01:39:45):
Not as you, know there are some people that really
get Into, halloween you, know with with the, costumes with some,
themes the, candy all that kind of. STUFF i remember
being that enthralled with. It but the team did have
a did have A halloeen party a week or ten days,
(01:40:09):
ago which was pretty, cool and it was a it
was a it was a it was a pretty good
bonding bonding, thing and some of the cotumes were pretty.
Compelling soyl the number one thing is that hopefully everybody
stays safe On. Halloween and, uh BUT i had not
(01:40:29):
given it that much, thought SO i can't SAY i
appreciate the, question BUT i acknowledge the question.
Speaker 3 (01:40:37):

Speaker 3 (01:40:59):
MAN i like the pumpkin candy.
Speaker 2 (01:41:02):
Corn oh, Gosh kevin.

Worst it's the good job. Guys all, Right, mark let's
check things down and get you ready to go for
a big day On. Tuesday as you men were just
discussing with the Coach, carlisle they made a movie. Yesterday
they Cut James, wiseman one of four centers they had
(01:41:43):
kept since training, camp to make Room James boyd For mac.
McClung we know him as the slam dunk, guy but
He's he's had a GOOD G league, career just hasn't
been able to stick with AN nba team so.
Speaker 2 (01:41:54):
Far he's had a GREAT G league career and won
a CHAMPIONSHIP G LEAGUE mvp last, YEAR i, believe or
the year prior and you, know first Team all G.
League And rick said they worked out a few players
yesterday and he stood, Out AND i would, expect by
the sounds of, it he's going to get an opportunity
to run this. Offense SO i don't know If, i'm you,
know buying the. Whole he didn't dunk thing yesterday From.
(01:42:16):
RICK i would, suppose you, KNOW i, SHOULD i should
believe him from, That but, PERSONALLY i would like to
see mac mccluk run the offense and provide.
Speaker 1 (01:42:23):
A couple highlight, rules not just a dunker as.
Speaker 3 (01:42:25):
Well, RICK i wanted to make sure that, yeah sounds
like some position flexibility and sounds like, YEAH i mean
he's with the, team so you know he should get
up to speed. There so season debut tomorrow most. LIKELY
i did think the. ANSWER i was going to ask
him something specifically about the. Injuries does he contribute any
of it to the run last?
Speaker 1 (01:42:42):
Season?
Speaker 3 (01:42:42):
Mark maybe that answer we can caught up and play back.
TOMORROW i didn't realize the, thunder you, KNOW i, know
when they played The pacers Last, thursday they were already
dealing with some. INJURIES i didn't realize their injury list
had grown to that and Probably Rick.

they're very, religious which they're, not so they're just, YEAH
i think there was a little cheap growing up with.
Speaker 1 (01:44:45):
Me you just kill your parents on the.
Speaker 2 (01:44:49):
Daily AND i told him all that WHEN i have kids,
there especially when they're, young like they're gonna get dressed.
UP i was going to school without a, costume and
everyone else has one. On so as an, Adult i'm
more inclined, to you, know go out and have a good.
Time BUT i am team comfort when it comes to the.
Costume i'm usually not trying to wear anything too. CRAZY
i get all the PHOTOS i might see of the,
(01:45:09):
homemade you, know. Costumes i'm not really like. That i'll
be a referee pretty much every.
Speaker 1 (01:45:14):

dad on the air one of these days and find

one on seven to five The. Fan good news on
(01:46:33):
some of the injury concerns though yesterday right, yeah you, KNOW.
Speaker 3 (01:46:36):
I think With Josh downs And Javerius ward having Those
monday concussion protocol symptoms throughout the. Season WHEN i Saw
Daniel jones get that head slammed to the, TURF i
thought to, myself oh, boy could that be one of.
Them But jane AND i can clarify yesterday nothing there
For jones and nothing For Tyler.
Speaker 1 (01:46:52):
Warren So i'm trying to.
Speaker 3 (01:46:53):
Think James Anthony GOULD i believe was the only in
game injury announced and that was very. Late, yeah because
he's the return, guy right AND i thought he actually
had a moment or two On, Sunday so maybe that'll
be something to keep an eye. On And Jalen, jones
does he make HIS i GUESS i almost said season.
DEBUT i forgot he got hurt in week one his
re season. Debut does that happen coming up reseason?
Speaker 4 (01:47:15):

Speaker 3 (01:47:17):
THAT dk metcalf is a guy that can certainly make.
Speaker 1 (01:47:19):
Some, plays all, Right so as The National Football league goes,
on we Had Monday night football last. Night Kansas city's
starting to turn up the. Heat they beat The Washington
commanders twenty eight seven after a rugged first quarter that
Saw Patrick mahomes turned the ball over, twice but after
that he got it rolling ended up with two hundred
ninety nine yards, passing and ninety nine of that went To,
Travis kelfsey And. Kevin here come The.
Speaker 3 (01:47:41):
Chiefs, Indeed, Pacers, pacers colts will see them in a few.
Weeks but, YEAH i mean last night you probably could
have gone to bed unless you wanted to watch all
eight and then needs a game three After mahomes throws
two picks and The commanders didn't score a single point
off of. That by the, Way terry McLaurin a couple
very impressive catches last. NIGHT i did see he got up.
Lights hopefully everything's okay with The indianapolis. Product but, yes The,
(01:48:04):

Speaker 1 (01:48:11):
Charge what is that?
Speaker 2 (01:48:12):
Costume is it just Creep is the actual costume named?
Speaker 1 (01:48:16):
Creepy it was like a little friar pullover thing with the. Hoodie,
right you're about to put.
Speaker 3 (01:48:21):
On A Batman, no you put on a bit's Of batman. Mask,
incredible more frightening Things i've ever seen in my. Life
he looks like he's writing car, radio you, know look
like the gimp and pulp. FICTION i, Said CARMEL pd
needs to watch for right. Now aren't they doing like
The National guard to some.
Speaker 2 (01:48:41):
Cities they might need that if can get THE fbi
on his, Neck, HEY.
Speaker 1 (01:48:46):
Fbi Jeff rickord neighbors out to your, Lord, lord have?
Mercy all? Right where are we at talking about one
of the greatest baseball GAMES i Know james has ever.
Seen last, night maybe one of the greatest baseball games
of all, time an eighteen inning thriller In game three
of The World series last. Night The dodgers end up
(01:49:08):
beating The Blue jays six to five on a night
When Shohei otani had two, doubles two home runs and
got on base nine. Times James boyd and you saw
every play.
Speaker 2 (01:49:20):
Marine times nine, times and it was honestly such a crazy.
Game he is by all accounts from all my baseball
friends are telling me he's the goat best player. Ever
and then you Got Freddy, freeman who's had some crazy
moments in the, postseason at another one to the list
with the walkoff homer in the Eighteen So Freddy freeman
(01:49:41):
and his veneers that are, very very bright and need
to be toned down at a very big time moment
there at the end of that.
Speaker 1 (01:49:47):
Game, yeah that's the two walkoff home runs for him
in two years in The World. Series how's? That that's
the stuff you dream of as a, kid, man man oh?
Man all. Right elsewhere in THE nba last, night we
had another fifty point Perform do you see? This James
laurie markten scored fifty one points at fourteen rebounds as
The jazz beat The suns one thirty, eight one thirty.
(01:50:07):
Four that's the first fifty point performance for The Utah
jets Since Carl malone. Retired how about?
Speaker 4 (01:50:12):
That?
Speaker 1 (01:50:13):
Gee in a, MINUTE i kick and play all. Right college,
basketball we did have one in state game last, night
the Ball State cardinals losing To Fordue, Perdue Fort, Wayne
thank you very. Much eighty four to seventy was the final.
Score there anything else you want to throw in over?
Speaker 7 (01:50:28):
There?
Speaker 3 (01:50:28):
YEAH i think we tease this a little bit, earlier
But Aidan FISHER iu linebacker who did leave earluth knee
injury On, Saturday Kurtz signetti labeling him is. Probable been
a while Since i've heard Probable Kurtz signetti jooned his
age a little bit, there but good news for a
man that plays the game with a quite a passion
and is a very very very good football. Player So
indiana At maryland that's three point thirty On. SATURDAY i
(01:50:52):
believe they are a. Favorite north of twenty points yet.
Speaker 5 (01:50:54):
Again And Carson wentz out for the season with a shoulder.
Injury unsurprising considering how he looked in the last, game
but done for the. Year you, Know i've said a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:51:01):
Of things About Carson wentz over the. Years one thing
that needs to be said that dude is.
Speaker 3 (01:51:06):
Tough, yeah he is laid through some beleep over the
years and shout out to his. Wife sounds like she's
delivering baby number four any day. NOW i believe a
fourth girl for The WinCE, family who it appears they've
called The zignsville area.
Speaker 2 (01:51:21):
HOME i will say, This kirk Kurve, STREET i believe
he's on that call for that, game and he was
injured and was talking about suck it up and you
gotta show more emotional you, know, regulation Knick.
Speaker 3 (01:51:33):
Rocks what the hell does that even? Mean emotional? Regulation
because he threw his helmet through his helmet because he's in.
Pain like the dude.
Speaker 2 (01:51:39):
Was playing through something he probably should have been playing.
Through and so it's just funny to hear people who
haven't played in THE nfl or haven't you, know done
what he's, done criticized him for being in literal.
Speaker 1 (01:51:47):
Pain all, right that's gonna wrap up the checkdown coming
up at a moment More colts talk with the Great JOEL.
A erickson From The Indie star on ninety three to
five and ONE o seven to five The Fan.
Speaker 8 (01:51:57):
No disrespect to, rats can, SAY i appreciate the, question
BUT i acknowledge the.
Speaker 1 (01:52:01):
Question tuesday morning and, today following another Victory, monday celebrating
both The colts and The Indiana hoosiers and got basketball season,
starting it was great to talk and catch up with With
carlisle with you guys just a few moments. Ago and
now we go back to The Indianapolis. Colts JOEL. A
erickson covers the team for The Indianapolis, star The Indie
(01:52:22):
star they call it now and he is on The
Payless liquors. Hotline Happy, Tuesday, joel what's your day like
when The colts have a day? Off how's that? Work for.
Speaker 4 (01:52:30):
You, well we have.
Speaker 7 (01:52:34):
Coordinator interviews at noon and Then i've got some Stuff
i've got to work ahead. On James is always told,
ME i got to make SURE i have every story.
Speaker 2 (01:52:43):
Out, YES i subscribe To Andy, Starr.
Speaker 4 (01:52:48):
SO i got some other stuff to.
Speaker 7 (01:52:50):
Do it's not really an off, day.
Speaker 1 (01:52:51):
Unfortunately i'm going to ask you the same QUESTION i
asked the guys this. MORNING i, mean a couple of
days after the seventh win of the year now and
us Into Shane steichen on roundtable and you guys heard
a little bit from him. Yesterday what what do you
make of this team at seven and? One for?
Speaker 4 (01:53:06):
Real?
Speaker 14 (01:53:08):
Yeah oh, yeah, YEAH i mean they're they're at the
point now where at seven and, one like really you're
not necessarily thinking about the division as.
Speaker 7 (01:53:19):
Much you're thinking, about you, know what seed can they
get in the? Playoffs and you should. Be, now there
have been some SOME afc sub teams that have gotten
off the fast starts and then you, know over the
last couple of years ended up you, know not finishing
that way but short short of. INJURY i don't really
know what the formula for that would. Be just because
(01:53:40):
the offense is playing so well and so consistently against
every type of opponent that there are definitely some reasons
to be concerned about the. Defense but you, know you're
you're gonna. Win you're gonna win some of those shootouts
if you have to play them as. Well and, YEAH
i JUST i just think the offense can beat you
in too many.
Speaker 3 (01:53:59):
Ways Joel erickson From star with this. Here, joel we
appreciate you being flexible with. Us sorry about some of
the time changes on This tuesday. Morning all, right trade
deadline is a week from. Today you said concern about the.
Defense where are you at when you think About january
football and the urgency to make a move and what
that could look.
Speaker 4 (01:54:20):
Like, YEAH I i think that if you if.
Speaker 7 (01:54:25):
You look at, it like just from a positional, standpoint
strictly just strictly from what they need the, MOST i
think it's probably. Corner but just from What i've seen
in terms of who might be, available it feels like
an edge rusher might be you, know a guy that's
a difference maker might be a little bit easier to
find it edge. Rusher so one of those two SPOTS
(01:54:46):
i think is the is the thing that sticks out
to me in terms of just this is a team
that's given up a lot of passing yards the cold, star,
uh and it hasn't bit them yet, necessarily but it obviously.
Could we saw it in The ram, game and AND
i think just trying to upgrade that that pass, defense
that third down defense in some way is the biggest.
(01:55:09):
THING i also just kind of, think you, know if
you look at that that deal that went down, yesterday
The titans send nickel Cornerback roger McCreary to The, rams
that's for a conditional, Pickswap like he was like a
it's like a fifth rounder for a sixth, rounder and.
Speaker 4 (01:55:24):
It depends on playing.
Speaker 7 (01:55:25):
Time it just doesn't seem like it seems like there's
probably a decent player you can get without really having
to give up a ton in terms of in terms
of the.
Speaker 2 (01:55:35):
Price So, joel going back to the offense for a.
Second WHEN i tell you they have the number one
rank scoring offense in the, league but they haven't had
one hundred yard receiver this, season your reaction is, WHAT
i think it.
Speaker 7 (01:55:51):
HELPS i THINK i think it Helps Shane.
Speaker 4 (01:55:54):
STIKEN i think it helps The.
Speaker 7 (01:55:56):
COLTS i think it helps you, KNOW i think it
probably Helps Daniel jones that he doesn't have to you,
know when you have that great receiver and that the
ball is going to them every, TIME i, THINK i
think you have to do a lot of stuff in
the offense to make sure he's, hidden keep coverages off of,
(01:56:19):
him find ways to get him. Open colts don't really
have to do. That they don't have to Do they
can just call what, works and they can just call
what works for the coverage and feel pretty good about
the fact that Wherever jones is throwing the, ball the
guy's going to make a.
Speaker 1 (01:56:35):
Play talking To Jolie erics And Indy starr about The
Indianapolis colts getting ready to go into the second half
of the season pretty quickly here and a lot of
big games coming up, SPECIFICALLY i know it's still almost
the off the, way but, Man Kansas city is on
the rise, again and how big does that game start
to look At Arrowhead? Stadium, yeah it, could it could
(01:56:57):
be really.
Speaker 7 (01:56:58):
Big you, know The chiefs getting three losses there at
the beginning of the. SEASON i think in terms of
who's got the higher seed is it's a significant it's
a significant advantage The colts have because you, know this
is The chiefs are always playing a first place. Schedule
they have to play THE Afc west in their conference.
(01:57:19):
SCHEDULE i, think you, know picking up some losses early isn't,
good but, yeah it does feel like The chiefs are
another team that's our, team that looks offensively like we've
seen them look in the, past and that's that makes
them a good. One it's it's a tough schedule for
the for The colts in, general but, YEAH i think
most people are gonna circle that, game all.
Speaker 3 (01:57:38):
Right last one for, Me. Joel when YOUR nfl brain
starts to, SPEAK i typically. Listen WHEN i say, TYPICALLY
i always Listen, Colts. Joel SO i bring that up
to SAY. Mvp we know what the acronym stands for
Most Valuable, Player we know how the award has largely
gone over the last decade. Plus when you HEAR mvp
(01:58:03):
and correct me If i'm, WRONG i believe that the fifty
votes that go for THE. MVP i don't believe our
market has a. Vote how do you view?
Speaker 1 (01:58:11):
It what should it?
Speaker 3 (01:58:12):
Be should it be Most Valuable? Player should it be Best?
Player Should Jonathan taylor have a? Chance does he have a.
Chance i'll leave it very open ended and let YOUR
nfl brain.
Speaker 7 (01:58:20):
Go SO i have thought for a long, time and
this is generally my voting thoughts on like The, heisman
which has also become a quarterback. AWARD i don't love.
Speaker 4 (01:58:31):
IT i would.
Speaker 7 (01:58:32):
Prefer to open it up to the entire.
Speaker 4 (01:58:37):
Entire.
Speaker 7 (01:58:37):
League, really you, know there was a year WHERE Jj
watt had a pretty good case with what he was
doing For. Houston AND i understand that it's the award
is most Valuable, player and that most. TEAMS i think
we all know The Tom moore quote about what happens
if your backup quarterback is in at the same. Time you, know,
(01:59:00):
well If Jonathan taylor's out of This colts, offense does
it bring it to a grinding.
Speaker 4 (01:59:06):
Halt.
Speaker 7 (01:59:06):
No BUT i also don't think you have the same
level of efficiency that you're, having or anywhere close to.
Speaker 4 (01:59:14):
IT i can't.
Speaker 7 (01:59:14):
REMEMBER i THINK i saw online yesterday that The colts
run game right now is like the sixth best offense
or seventh best offense in football based on expected points
added per play to an advanced that that kind of
like takes a look at how efficient you. Are, yes
The colts offensive line is, great but we never say.
Speaker 4 (01:59:37):
That with the.
Speaker 7 (01:59:38):
Quarterbacks we never, say, hey this, guy this guy's AN mvp,
candidate but his offensive line is, great so we have
to discount, him or, hey the the wide receivers he's
got are, great so we have to just count. Him
like the offensive line for The colts is. Great but
if you're Watching Jonathan taylor, day you, know week in
and week, out you know that there's not another there's
(01:59:59):
probably not another running back who's who's making the plays
he's making right. Now so most Most Valuable player you
can look at it IN i think the way we
all way most people look at it from AN nfl
standpoint is you, know, well if you don't have that,
quarterback the offense won't be. Good, obviously these cults are
an example of. That there's a similar offense last year
(02:00:22):
With Anthony richardson and So Daniel jones for the most
part and not nearly as successful on the flip side
from a Most valuable player standpoint in terms of what
makes this offense? Special what's made this offense really really?
Special like they're really good at throwing the, ball but
they're just hitting people with the run in a way
that you don't see very often this isn't even Like
(02:00:44):
Saquon barkley last year because it's just not happening on many.
Carries SO i think when a player is having a
season like, this in a season where there's not a
lot of, QUARTERBACKS i Think Jonathan taylor should be the
front runner right, now even though you, KNOW i think
the betting ods would say he's probab probably.
Speaker 2 (02:01:00):
Not, again we Have Joey ericsson with us from The
Indie star covers The. Colts last one from, Me. Joel
you had the series on The Ursay, daughters who are
now taking over as the owners following the death of
Jim irsay earlier this. YEAR i would encourage everyone listening
to read those. Pieces but from your perspective as a,
(02:01:22):
writer what was it like pulling those stories? Together and
can you take us behind the scenes of the process
of just getting The ersay daughters on the record to talk,
about you, know life in THE.
Speaker 15 (02:01:33):
Nfl, YEAH i THINK i think the, goal more more
than anything, else was to kind of INTRODUCE, Uh Carlie,
Ers Gordon Casey, foyt And Kaylin JACKSON.
Speaker 7 (02:01:47):
Uh to the city Of indianapolis as as people we
knew a ton About Jim Orsay uh, personally in addition
to his role in terms of the, team we knew
a ton about like how his how his brain worked
and stuff like that because he was so. Public as
as you get to a change in, ownership the idea here, Was,
(02:02:11):
okay we're gonna have press conferences like we had where
we ask about what they think of what they think
about the state of the. Team you, know we know
What kaylor's been doing with kicking the. STIGMA i wanted
to get at you, know who they, are who they
are and because because realistically the three of them are
the are the people you know At west fifty six
(02:02:34):
that they're going to be with us.
Speaker 4 (02:02:35):
The, longest and so that was the goal of the.
Speaker 7 (02:02:38):
STORIES i think it probably made The uh interviews a
little bit easier because they Were and then the other
thing was just you, know really got to thank The
colts and and you, know all all three of them
for giving me a ton of. Time all all three
interviews were around an, HOUR i, think and just kind
(02:03:00):
of getting a chance to try to get to know
them who they are as, people what matters to. Them
and then that's a hard part is once you have.
Speaker 4 (02:03:08):
An hour long. Interview you know, This.
Speaker 7 (02:03:09):
James the hard part is focusing it and making sure
that there's a clear point to.
Speaker 1 (02:03:14):
It good, Stuff, Joel thanks as, always and look forward
to reading your stuff as it continues to come. Out
and we really appreciate you coming on the show every week.
Too love your. Stuff Thanks, Joel, yep you. Bet thanks,
guys there Is we didn't even have time to ask
him about his thoughts in The World series last. NIGHT
i wonder if he's just boycotting The World series at
this point in time with No brewers. Involved.
Speaker 2 (02:03:35):
NAH i Think joel's a baseball purist and he has
to appreciate what Shoe hey is. Doing So i'm Sure
i'll be able to nerd out with him And i'll
see him tomorrow at the.
Speaker 1 (02:03:42):
Facility all, right coming up in a, moment we'll finish
up the. Show the Show strong talk a little bit
more about The colts and their defense as we continue
ninety three five and one oh seven five to Fan Big. Show,
today we've heard From Doug bowles at The, Speedway Rick
carlisle From, Dallas JOEL. A erickson talking about The colts
just a moment. Ago we've been talk a lot about
the defense this, morning, guys and you take a look
(02:04:03):
at the injuries and how they've had to shuffle and
guys coming in and out because of all those. Injuries
what's it meant to Have Kenny moore just back Being
Kenny moore at this point in.
Speaker 3 (02:04:11):
Time, Yeah AND i think that's where we get in
the trade, Deadline james a week from today to, me
the return Of Kenny, moore the Second Tavarius ward two
more weeks ON ir and then he could be.
Speaker 6 (02:04:22):
Back.
Speaker 3 (02:04:22):
Potentially Jalen jones is back On. Sunday that position group
has more of those defensive end does not in my.
Opinion we did SEE Jt tuoeymlowau and get extended playing
time the rookiett Of Ohio state thirty five snaps for
him not, much to be totally honest with you, again
SO i don't really see potential in, house you, know
(02:04:47):
whatever upgrades or returns. HAPPENING i don't View Samson epicom
necessarily in that. Light so that's something that's probably on
my mind as.
Speaker 1 (02:04:55):
Well Kenny, MOORE i, think is a solidifying force back,
there and just that felt once he got back and
overcame the injury it just feels like everybody. ELSE i don't,
know maybe it's just. Me gives me. Comfort what have
you seen since he's.
Speaker 2 (02:05:08):
Returned, yeah he's a steady, guy one of the best
lock cornerbacks in the. League it sounds like he's still
working through The achilles. Thing is probably one of those
things where most players at this point in the year
he got something that's gonn nagg you for the rest
of the year because of such physical. Sport but, yeah
he kind of told us that he had to be
patient with himself to navigate The achilles because we, know
and especially in this, city you, know one false step
(02:05:30):
and it's all. Over so excited to see him get
back out. There enjoyed a celebration that he had where
he pretended to wash his. Hands shout out to the
kid who inspired him to do, that and shout out
To kenny for following through on it.
Speaker 1 (02:05:41):
Too so that's a positive for The.
Speaker 2 (02:05:43):
Colts would certainly have to get better defensively because even
in that Game, Sunday KEVIN i thought that they gave
up too many third, down especially early and again third
and lungs can't get off the field.
Speaker 3 (02:05:52):
Well third and, Fourteen Cam moore missed, ONE i mean
THE iu manor Hay say's last. Name he was open
and that could have been a huge player in that.
GAME a couple Of Rick carlisle notes if you missed
that from us, Earlier, mark we'll have that up if
he doesn't already up on the, Podcast Max, Klung thank, You.
MARK i won a three men workout yesterday to help
them out the guard, position SO i would expect him
(02:06:14):
to have some role probably tomorrow night the.
Speaker 2 (02:06:16):
Other guards with me And.
Speaker 3 (02:06:17):
Kevin no shock there than that he wonted see me
pretty please With Ben Nick matheren and the. Growth obviously
he's dealing with a toe.
Speaker 1 (02:06:25):
Injury.
Speaker 3 (02:06:25):
NOW i liked what he saw early. On Tyrese halliburton
has recently dunked same. Basketball so some updates there from
Murc carlo that will be on the. Podcast one other
THING i wanted to note before we sign. OFF i
KNOW i mentioned to you guys earlier over there hearing
from some of those ads yesterday on THE Ncaa men's
basketball selection. COMMITTEE a wrinkle to this Year's april here In.
(02:06:48):
Indy obviously we have the final Four Saturday. Monday we're
used to That sunday of that. Weekend It's Easter. Sunday,
actually we will have THE d, TWO d three AND
it championship games all At Gambridge Field.
Speaker 1 (02:07:02):
House. Cool so that is a little bit of a change.
Speaker 3 (02:07:05):
Here obviously we got The final four sandwiching what That sunday,
is but you'll ground a couple of champions there and
they'll be in THE Nba arena FOR d, TWO d
three in the N.
Speaker 1 (02:07:14):
It just another example why it's so great to be
a sports fan and be living In. Indianapolis the good
stuff just keeps coming and coming and. Coming, guys great job,
Today thank you so. MUCH i want to Thank Rick
carlisle for stopping in From dallas where they're getting ready
to play The mavericks tomorrow, night looking for their first
win of the. Year you'll hear that one beginning at.
Speaker 3 (02:07:30):
Eight he acknowledges the question and doesn't necessarily appreciate the.
Speaker 1 (02:07:34):
Question, right we may be hearing that cut in the.
Future have yourself as a great. Day jake at noon
J andb.
Speaker 8 (02:07:41):
At three can't SAY i appreciate the, question BUT i
acknowledge the.
Speaker 4 (02:07:45):
Question
