Speaker 1 (00:02):
This is Jaguars Postgame presented by GEHA. Join GP, Shadrick,
Mike Dempsey, and Pride to the Jaguars Fred Taylor as
they break down today's game. Jaguars post Game is brought
to you by Farah and Farah the University of Florida.
What a Burger and by EverBank. Jaguars post Game presented
(00:24):
by GEHA starts right now.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Welcome in. It is Jaguars post Game brought to you
by g EH Government Employees Health Association Benefits for federal
employees and retirees. JP, Shadrick, Mike Dempsey, Fred Taylor coming
up shortly. Final score Jags twenty six forty nine Ers
twenty one. The Jaguars improved to three and one. They
hand the Niners their first loss of the year. They
(00:47):
fall to a record of three and one. What an
incredible defensive performance today for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Four takeaways,
all these points, a lot of them off turnovers. Today
when it mattered, they came up big in a big way.
And I had a special teams touchdown today as well
with a punt return and complimentary football all around for the.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
Jags every time this team needed it today the defense
stepped up and took the ball away again and again
and again.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
JP.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
They can't get three every week. Now, they'll get four
this week, right, Well, I mean thirteen turnovers that this
team has created on defense in four weeks. It's unbelievable
the pace that they're on right now. But they needed
it today, you know they Trevor did a lot of
good today. Travis etn was spectacular today.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
And so many.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Stalwarts on the defensive side. And I'm sure we'll get
to talking about all.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah, a lot of those on the defensive side for
the Jaguars today. So Jaggs get it done. I mean,
it's hard to underestimate what this defense did today. Fumble
return recovery by Gardak forced it. Then Devin Lloyd had
an interception, and then a little bit later Devin Lloyd
had a second interception, and then of course at the
end of the day, Eric Armstead, the former forty nine er,
(02:07):
comes through with the forced fumbling sack to seal the
wind to.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Phenomenal, right, and we were calling on Eric Armstead. Everybody
was like, you're gonna have to apply some pressure. It's
gonna be tough going against Trent Williams for josh heinz
Allen to get to the quarterback, but Eric Armstead came
up clutching a big moment and you could see how
happy his teammates were for him on the sideline there.
They all took him over there and fanned him off,
like cool, this guy off, he's making plays. So I mean, look,
(02:33):
this was not a perfect performance by any stretch by
the Jacksonville Jaguars. There were a lot of mental errors
again on this team. Trevor Lawrence should never have thrown
the ball in bounced for Travis Etn at the end
of the first half, and it cost themselves two more
chances to put a touchdown on the board, which would
have had that game out of reach late. But you
know what, you can recount all the mistakes that a
(02:55):
team makes when you get the victory the way the
Jacksonville Jaguars did today, and it's all correctable stuff.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Moving forward.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
They're gonna have to get on top of that JP
But again they were able to overcome and the resiliency
of this team is pretty Impressivele's.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Check in with pride of the Jaguars running back Fred
Taylor joining us on the line now. For a Jaguars win.
And what a defensive performance.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Fred good afternoon, Hey guys man, how's it going?
Speaker 5 (03:21):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Pretty good, Freddy, Such a.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Great win by those guys.
Speaker 6 (03:25):
Man, the way be able to you know, just stay
in it and just go, you know, shot the league.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
You know, people are going to try.
Speaker 6 (03:32):
To make excuses for the forty nine ers, but this
was all Jacksonville.
Speaker 4 (03:36):
It was always Jacksonville, right.
Speaker 6 (03:38):
I mean, that defense has been as consistent as we've
seen since I've been there.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
They're starting to.
Speaker 6 (03:44):
Look like the ninety nine defense, just creating havoc turnover
after turnover each and every week. They are making a
few mistakes, as Mike alluded to, their certainly correctibles, and
I'm sure they'll get after that. But as long as
they can continue to create the opportunities for the offense
and allow the offense and opportunity to catch up and
(04:05):
make a big play or two here or there, as
you seeing Travis ztn do on his long forty eight yarder,
I think this team can go a long way.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Freddie, what do you make of the resiliency of some
of the guys who had to step in there as
guys were falling left and right Trayvon Walker left early
never returned. Foyer was out of the game, Eric Murray
was out of the game. Multiple offensive linemen were out
of the game, and the replacements just kept coming in.
And I wouldn't say you didn't miss a single beat,
but they really performed well.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Yeah, I think they performed well.
Speaker 6 (04:36):
And really that's give a big shout out to the
coaching staff having all those guys prepared and ready to go.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
I take the running backs for example, Chad.
Speaker 6 (04:47):
He has to do a great job of getting each
guy ready to go knowing their assignment because they don't
know who's going to be and who's going to be
out in certain situations, and they just get in there.
And it's just seemed the same thing as plug and
play basically, and the coaching staff deserves a lot of
credit for that. Whatever their teaching methods are, it seems
(05:08):
like the next man up is ready and they didn't
miss a beat. Man, So big shout out to that
defense effort. And you know, earlier on I mentioned something
in the offseason, we talk about culture. They're like, what's
the locker room culture? I say, strike that it's all
about the standard. And I think they found their identity.
(05:28):
Their standard is, you know, playing defense, winning these games
through great defensive play, being consistent, being a band of
brothers and sticking with each other and not flinching. As
Trevor said, you know, we're not going to be bullied
or pushed around.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
And I think they meant that. Well, he meant that,
and it showed.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
And they're following the lead of their head coach too.
You saw the spice after the game. Of course, as
he was walking off the field there the Fox television
cameras caught a very small snippet of him giving it
to Robert Salah after the comments late in the week.
Can if you're head coach is doing that, that means
your team has some edge as well.
Speaker 6 (06:04):
I was gonna say, why do everybody give it a
Roberts solid, But I guess he deserves it. You know,
sometimes your mouth gets in the way, and it's the
NFL man.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
You say it, you gotta be able to back it up.
There's no pity parties out there.
Speaker 6 (06:17):
Wouldn't lose a draw, and I think if it had
been the other way, Salad would have gave Liam a
nice little stare of mean mug. So hey, we get
to fly home, you know, five hours with a smile
on our face. Well, most of them should be sleeping
or they should be knocked out and excited for victory.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
Monday.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Jaggs are now three and one with a big win
over the San Francisco forty nine ers, twenty six to
twenty one the final score. The Jaguars defense comes away
with four takeaways on the day. They were in the
face of pretty a lot of the day and just
made it really difficult. And what a what a day
for Devin Woyd. Two interceptions from the Jaguars linebacker today
(06:59):
part of a four ten take away game for the Jacks.
Travis et On on the ground also really big today. Nineteen
carries one hundred and twenty four yards a forty eight
yard touchdown as well. And let's go to San Francisco
now Santa Clara and Levi Stadium. Part of that defensive
performance today, Josh heinz Allen had two tackles, a quarterback
hit and attacking for loss. He's with Bucky Brooks.
Speaker 5 (07:21):
Josh, just talk about the win.
Speaker 7 (07:22):
Big win on the road, huge emotions right now. You
know it can't be proder to my team. This is
a key key memory for us, a key statement win.
Win a tough game in a hostile environment against a
really good team, a playoff team, and to go out
there and just played the way we did, played great
complimentary football. It wasn't great all around, but again that
(07:45):
playing that complimentary football and special teams adding that big
touchdown just kept giving us. We was never out of
the fight. You know, we was down by three coming like,
I think that was the first time he was down
or something. But you know, we stayed in there and
where they gonna have to earn everything they got from us,
and I'm glad we got this.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
Dug No, what a great win.
Speaker 8 (08:06):
So Liam has always talked about the toughness, the resilience,
you guys having to bounce back and deal with the storm.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
So the adversity comes in the game.
Speaker 8 (08:14):
How are you guys able to emotionally weather the storm
we're in Years past, we weren't able to do it.
Speaker 7 (08:19):
I mean, I think we just love playing for each other.
We love the schemes, man, We just love we love
the coaches that we played for, and we love each
other both sides of the ball. Defense, I think we
got a close knit group offense. I think they got
a close knit group, and then you add us all together.
I think we just bond and jail so well in
the locker room, but we also competitive as hell and
we want to win. So when you add that, and
(08:40):
then you add the coaches that we do have, it's
a lot of love in the building and you can
kind of tell they take care of us every day.
But we also put that work in when we need
to too, so and we just gotta keep building on it.
But again, some it all up again. I said it
last week. Man, we have family and we got to
(09:00):
keep building on this.
Speaker 8 (09:01):
You know, it's funny you talk about building on it.
You guys have been building on the takeaway obsession I
call the turnover obsession. You guys are hunting the ball
and every time, and it takes every level. It takes
the pass, rush, the secondary and those things. Where's it
coming from? The emphasis? You guys are just so.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
Aware to go and attack the ball at every turn.
Speaker 7 (09:18):
I mean we do it in practice, you know they
you know you practice like you play. We are super
aggressive upfront when we practice, we take the ball away
in the back end. So when this happens, nobody's really surprised.
Because this is what we do. We see this all
the time. I feel like, you know, I hate speaking
about last year, but just to give a reference, we
weren't catching picks in practice, you know. So now to
(09:41):
be able to be what you're supposed to be, communicate
what we're supposed to do, call the right call, and
guys is doing what is doing what they're supposed to
be doing. The ball is gonna come right to you.
And then having a front that gets half the guys,
that speeds up that process that you know he may
have time in the pocket, but guys are still rushing
in that thought process of man, so I got to go,
got to get this wall, I gotta get this ball out.
(10:01):
I think it just work hands in hand. I feel
like everybody up front, back in middle of core.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Man.
Speaker 7 (10:08):
I just glad guys played and fought their butts off,
and I'm excited about this team again and again.
Speaker 5 (10:15):
We're gonna keep building on this.
Speaker 8 (10:16):
Look, man, the next time we get a chance to
y'all play, the world will watch Monday night football high.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
Second, will it be to be on Monday Night?
Speaker 7 (10:22):
I mean, I'm excited to be at home. First off,
I know our crowd's gonna show up and show off
for us man, and we just want to give him
a show. We want to continue to do what we
do first off, never play to anybody else's expectations.
Speaker 5 (10:33):
It's always about us.
Speaker 7 (10:35):
And if we can continue to have that same mindset,
it's about us no matter who, what record, team, historic,
doesn't matter. If we focus on what we need to
focus on, We're always gonna worry about us and we
I feel like we're gonna come out on top.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
Can't wait to see it next Monday night.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Same appreciate you, Buck Yep, all right, Josh Han Jallen
with Bucky Brooks. And of course in the ever Bank Vault,
ever Bank Advantage, you make the most out of your
money at EverBank dot com. Slash Jaguars Back in a moment,
we'll hear from the head coach, Liam Cohen after a
Jaguars win over the San Francisco forty nine ers. It's
twenty six to twenty one in the final and this
(11:11):
is Jaguars post game on Jaguars Radio. Jaguars Post Game
continues jap Shadrick, Mike Tempse, Fred Taylor. We're at the
Hundai Studios, the Miller Electric Center, we'll hear from head
coach Liam Cohen coming up. He's visiting with the media
in Santa Clair as we speak. We'll have him with
Bucky Brooks coming up shortly after a dominant defensive performance today.
(11:33):
Four takeaways and a special teams touchdown for the Jaguars today.
Fred the Parker Washington punt return gets overlooked a little
bit in this because of the four takeaways, but that
punt return touchdown for eighty seven yards put the Jags
up twelve and really kind of turned this game in
a critical moment there in the second half.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Yeah, I'm new to this man technology stuff.
Speaker 6 (12:02):
I was just rambling, but you said it JP at
a critical point in the game. You know, we needed
a big play there, whether offensively if they had gotten
a chance.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
To get the ball right there. He stepped up to
the plate last.
Speaker 6 (12:16):
Week, struggled a little bit with a few drops there,
again part of that whole redemption theme. He was able
to bounce back and put a team in position to
hold off, you know, a very good Niners team. And
again I just want to double down and say this
for anyone that wants to make an excuse for the
forty nine ers.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
They shouldn't.
Speaker 6 (12:39):
The Jacksonville team is a really solid team, and I
believe next week they have an opportunity in front of
the entire nation to prove.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
That, and I believe they're gonna be up for the task.
Speaker 6 (12:50):
But again, Parker Washington, right there in that very moment,
such a great return by a young, young guy.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Who's done it before, and I think he's gonna do it.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Fred we talked about this at halftime, but it's easy
to lose sight of the big plays that happened for
the Jags in this game. Up seven to three, Trevor
Lawrence thrown from his own end zone to Travis Hunter.
He went up, got both hands, got it knocked loose,
re established to catch on the way down. Not only
gave the first down, they went on like a ninety
(13:21):
yard drive for the touchdown right there. I mean, he
doesn't make that play, you're punting from your own end zone.
Up by four points, it could be a completely different
story today.
Speaker 6 (13:31):
Yeah, right there, in that particular drive, I believe it
was charted as was there twelve or fourteen plays?
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Yeah? Fourteen plays eighty nine yards?
Speaker 4 (13:40):
Yeah, Yeah, it's such a huge drive.
Speaker 6 (13:42):
And even on that drive, Trevor was eight pre eight.
It started with that big throw right there. Had some
decent runs in between, but again just the execution part
of it all. Travis in the heat at the moment,
a nice little seam route where he was able to
bend it in and open field, get in front of
the defender and just make a great catch hold on
(14:03):
to the ball and not worry about you know, the
what do they call it, Mike the hospital ball?
Speaker 5 (14:08):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
A few of those today, by the way.
Speaker 6 (14:11):
Yeah, he quite a few, but in such great defense,
you know, just switching gears really quick. That cover two
is tough, and if it's not on point, you get
the tip balls that you know that turn into turnovers.
And we've seen the defense take advantage of that. They're
playing great zone coverage. But again, Trevor I think was
on point today.
Speaker 9 (14:32):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (14:32):
He showed some extreme accuracy, he stood in the pocket.
A big shout out to the offensive line, you know,
not they allowed some pressures. I don't have my stat year,
but I don't believe he got That's what I was
alluding to. So again second second time this year, I
believe no sacks by the big guys up front and
(14:53):
they did equally as well in the running game. Reminded
me of Week one. So just a great team effort
across the board.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Time now for the head coach interview presented by g
EAJ Government Employees Health Association Benefits for Federal employees and retirees.
What a game for the Jacksonville Jaguars, four takeaways on defense,
a special team's touchdown, and a road win against the
forty nine Ers twenty six to twenty one. Liam Cohen
is with Bucky Brooks live coach also on a.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
Great win today.
Speaker 10 (15:21):
Thank you. You know, great team effort.
Speaker 11 (15:24):
All three phases had to part in it, made plays,
put us in a position to go win that game
on the road. Obviously defensively again with the three takeaways
four straight weeks, first time ever doing that.
Speaker 10 (15:37):
That's pretty impressive.
Speaker 11 (15:40):
To be able to rush for one hundred and fifty
not allow a sack again, and then the punt return
and kickoff return before that. Huge plays, huge plays. So
really proud players, coaches, everybody involved to be able to
have a hand in that win.
Speaker 8 (15:56):
You know, coach, it's funny talking to the players after
the game and you kind of talk about like measures
the game or whatever, and everyone, to a man hit said,
is every about anybody else, It's about us. Talk a
little bit about the mindset about it's really us. It's
not about what the other team does.
Speaker 5 (16:10):
Yeah, that's been you know.
Speaker 11 (16:11):
That was the message Saturday Saturday night and in the
locker rooms before the game was we have to focus
on them getting better and just us and not the logos.
There's no logos that we're talking about.
Speaker 10 (16:26):
It. It's the Jacks.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
It's us.
Speaker 10 (16:28):
People got to play us.
Speaker 11 (16:29):
And I think these guys have taken a mindset and
mentality to go and compete with anybody right now. I
mean in terms of their preparation. And I'm not saying
we're gonna beat everybody. It's more just hey, let's go
play anytime, any place, anywhere.
Speaker 10 (16:44):
Let's go compete.
Speaker 8 (16:44):
Yeah, that's funny. I remember going to Fresnel State. They
used to talk about that. But in thinking about this team,
the physicality and the toughness it certainly reflected not only
in defense but running the ball. Talk about the mentality
of running the ball that anybody regardless.
Speaker 10 (16:57):
That's huge.
Speaker 11 (16:58):
I mean too obviously back to back weeks of a
very physical, violent defense that we just played Houston obviously
the week before, and San Francisco, who I've got a
ton of respect for in terms of the way that
they coach, the way that they prepare, the way that
they have their team playing in all three phases. So
we knew it was going to be one of those
kind of games, and I was really proud of the
(17:20):
way that we played up front. I think our tight
ends played very well. Again, Yeah, and eattn and two
and ran the ball hard. You know, those guys both
ran it hard and kept us balanced.
Speaker 10 (17:31):
Especially in the first half.
Speaker 11 (17:33):
I thought we were really balanced doing some really good things.
You come on in the second half and you know,
we miss a couple throws and things start to go
a little bit this way, the defense keeps us going
upunt return, and so really proud of their physicality in
which that we play with.
Speaker 8 (17:47):
You know, It's funny because when you have a young
team that hasn't won, but they're learning how to win,
it's never perfect. So how do you keep the guys
engage when it's not perfect? It's those lows in the
game that the EBB and flows. How do you keep
them engage? Like, no, just focus on what's the ahead
of us.
Speaker 11 (18:01):
Not that's it, man, Like, it's really cool to see
our guys not flinch. We talk about no flinch, no blink,
and there's going to be ups and downs and the
momentum swings in a game and us not settling in
quicksand and we talk about that there's no quicksand just
play the next play. Play the next play, regardless of
(18:23):
what just occurred, good, bad, ugly, beautiful, whatever it was,
play the next play. And I think our coaches have
also done a nice job of not dwelling on plays
in the game, like, guys, hey, move on, move on
and play the next play. Coach these guys hard and
let them go play free of failure.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
You know.
Speaker 8 (18:42):
One of the things that I've always noticed from championship
caliber teams, there's a competitive arrogance. They want to compete,
but there's a field that they're going to win when
they step on the field. I sense that now, not
only from the players, but the coaches in those things.
How do you build that mentality as they're going forward?
Speaker 11 (18:58):
Yeah, I think when you when you practice the way
that we've practiced since we got here, right the spring
training camp, the way that our demands in the standards
in meetings, practice walkthroughs, jog throughs, whatever it is. There's
high standards and these guys are now starting to hold
(19:18):
each other accountable in those settings. And so they go
out on the grass and have confidence in their preparation,
in their teammates preparation and knowing the scheme, knowing the
game plan.
Speaker 10 (19:32):
And I think.
Speaker 11 (19:32):
That's what gives guys confidence. Is okay making a player
or not?
Speaker 4 (19:37):
Right?
Speaker 11 (19:37):
We all know we have to make plays in order
to go win games and gain confidence. But I think
that they're very confident going into games knowing that they're
prepared and that they can go play with anybody.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
What.
Speaker 8 (19:47):
It's really fun to watch. Can't wait to see it
next Monday against can't see the Chiefs.
Speaker 10 (19:50):
Huge one for us. Great to be back at home.
Speaker 11 (19:52):
Need everybody, need all a due ball, all.
Speaker 10 (19:56):
Of Jacksonville to come to that game. Let's go, Let's go.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Indeed, that's Liam Cohen, Jaguars head coach with Bucky Brooks
in Santa Clair. We're back in a moment, plenty more ahead.
After a Jaguars win twenty six to twenty one over
the San Francisco forty nine ers and a Jaguars post
game on the Jaguars Radio Network. Jaguars Post Game brought
to you by GJA Government Employees Health Association Benefits for
(20:23):
federal employees and retirees. Final score Jags twenty six forty nine,
Ers twenty one. Let's head back to the EverBank Vault
in Santa Clara Levi Stadium, Parker, Washington. With his second
career punt return touchdown. We'll get to him in just
a moment. He had a ninety six yarder Mike in
London last year. Was a booming punt that drove him
(20:43):
back to the four and he had plenty of space
to weave and go down the sideline and score in
that game. This was another boomer that got him, drove
him back a little bit and then all of a sudden,
eighty seven yards found the opening and the crease and
off he went. I mean, huge play.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
And Liam Cohen mentioned Basil Touton's return all the kickoff
return was big as well that he took out across
the fifty yard line. So I mean every phase of
this team is contributing right now to this. Three and one.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Should be four and oh record.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Honestly, I mean that for what they've done. They've done
enough to be undefeated.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Parker Washington's second career punt return touchdown. He's live with
Bucky Brooks.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
Parker, let's talk about it. We got a chance to
see you fly a little bit in the zon. Talk
about that pump return, man.
Speaker 12 (21:25):
You know, just the the best part about is just
you just have to stay patient and be ready for
your opportunity. You know, a couple of players on offense,
I wasn't getting the ball as much as we went
throughout the game, but you have to keep that stead
fast mindset to just go out there and continue to
stay present and the opportunity to present itself, and we
just had to make a play there.
Speaker 8 (21:43):
Look man like, not only your big pump return, but
you had a big kickoff return. The special teams unit
really dominated and set the tone today. Talk about what
Heath and Luke and those guys, what have they been
talking about it meaning is to get you guys ready
to play on Sunday.
Speaker 12 (21:57):
Yeah, it's a mindset. I mean, we pride ourselves on
coming out there and being the best special teams unit
in the NFL. And the guys around us, the guys
around us, they just they work so hard and compete
to a super high level and when I go out
there as a return and it just makes me want
to make plays for them. So it was cool to
(22:17):
do that for them because those guys they work their
tail off, those gunners and the corners. I mean, they
locked the gunners up and it's like I gotta reward them.
So it was so cool to see that and make
a play for the guys, and we just got to
keep going.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Look and then thinking about keeping going.
Speaker 8 (22:30):
Man, it's team the confidence and that the buzz around
the team, like just being on the sideline feeling you
guys knowing that you're about to make plays and do that,
just talk about the work that's going in to building
up your confidence and knowing that the preparation gonna lead
to great performance.
Speaker 12 (22:44):
Just being intentional each day, each each rep. You know,
for me personally, it's like as soon as that one
rep is done, it is on to the next. And
I feel like everybody takes that mindset. Even if it
goes not the way we want, we come back and
we're just like, let's go next play. So it's been
so cool cool to see that, and it's just the
mindset and the shift that I'm seeing on his team.
(23:04):
It's just been so cool to be a part of.
And it just keeps us confident because it's like we're
trying to be our best for our guy next to us,
and it's so cool to see and guys have each
other's back. So I'm excited to be And.
Speaker 8 (23:16):
Dude, how excited is gonna be next Monday with the
entire world watching?
Speaker 5 (23:21):
It should be a lot of fun next weekend.
Speaker 12 (23:23):
Monday Night football. It's always cool to be a part of.
That's a fun experience for me. I mean, I have
my first touchdown on was it Monday Night versus Sincy?
Speaker 5 (23:33):
I believe?
Speaker 12 (23:34):
Yeah, So that was my first touchdown as an NFL player.
So big things happen on Monday Night, and guys are
gonna be electrified. I mean, we're playing a great team
and it's gonna be physical.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
Let's go, man, thanks so much for coming on. He
was great. Get it next week.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
Appreciate Parker Washington fired up. Yeah, after a big punt
return touchdown. Let's listen in now, Trevor Lawrence. Quickly, We'll
get a few questions. He's live at the podium the
media in Santa Clair learning from.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
It and grow.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Uh the Travis on throughout the third line sort of
wat you saw it.
Speaker 9 (24:09):
Yeah, we went Temple on the ball and they got
to shell coverage and it kind of doubled BT into
the boundary and then we had you know, then we
had cloud in the field, so that safety was putting
the buying and Travis just did a great job of
taking it straight down the middle over Fred and just
throwing over the top. Kind of seeing it as I
got back to the field side progression and Travis set
(24:30):
a great angle for me to throw it and obviously
made a great play on the ball. Safety kind of
came back in and tried to break it up, and
it's a great catch by Travis.
Speaker 8 (24:37):
How much with the punk return, because you guys have
struggled a little bit to move the ball consistently in
that third quarter.
Speaker 7 (24:42):
It's huge.
Speaker 9 (24:43):
I mean, special teams made a bunch of big plays today,
some some great kick returns, some great punts. I mean,
obviously the apartment turned for a touchdown is huge. You know,
there's a lot of plays special teams. Man, it was
just a full effort game by everyone and that you know,
obviously get some points on the board, give us a
little bit of a cushion, and then our defense again
(25:03):
just with the takeaways and the big stops and then
us just having to go and get a first down
and finish the game out, you know. So it was
a complete game for us, I think offensively, obviously, there's
a lot more out there that we can that we
can do, and that's the great thing about it is
finding ways to win. And we still feel like we
can grow a lot as an offense. So, like you said,
the punt return and defense and special teams, you know,
did a great job today.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
Time.
Speaker 9 (25:28):
Oh yeah, same locker room we're in. So definitely had
some good vibes and some good memories being back here,
so felt good.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
That's Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars quarterback. For all the press conferences,
if you're watching on Jaguars dot com or Jaguars YouTube,
there is a separate stream for press conferences. Now if
you're watching Jaguars post game, you can watch the press
conferences on a separate YouTube stream at Jaguars YouTube. Fred
I have about a thought about this offense today. Yeah,
(25:56):
still some fits and starts, right, some some penalties and
big moments, some pre snap things, some issues of the
play clock, but some execution in some key moments late
from the quarterback. Overall needs to be a little bit better,
but it's winning football. Complimentary football helps. But what do
you think of the offense overall today?
Speaker 6 (26:17):
You know, JP, I think I said it before. I
can take the effort penalties, you know, holding here and there.
You don't want to see it, but you understand that
it's effort involved. It's the lack of focused penalties that
drive me crazy. You go back to the SINCI game,
the illegal shifts. They've gotten better and not having the
illegal shifts, but they also have other penalties that had
(26:39):
twelve for ninety to day.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
They got got to find a way to clean that up. Overall, offensively,
they're just misfiring.
Speaker 6 (26:47):
They got some work to do and hopefully, like I
said earlier on at the top, that as they continue
to improve, the defense continues to be as consistent and
as opportunistic as they can possibly be to give the
offense that time to come along and hopefully when they
find their stride, I mean, they'll be ready to go.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
Today they didn't have Dammy Brown, which is a big
part of the offense. Took some reps away.
Speaker 6 (27:13):
As Parker Washington mentioned there, he didn't do great on
the offense side. It was two targets, zero catches, but
he made a big play on special teams that sort
of really made up for it. I'm pretty sure nobody's
gonna complain about his effort while he's out there. Travis
etn that offensive line a winning formula. It's great defense,
(27:33):
getting turnovers, running the football and not giving away the ball.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
And they've done pretty well with that.
Speaker 6 (27:41):
Few tips here and there that kind of floated over
the Niners heads. Thankfully they didn't get those. But again,
the winning formula opportunist defense, give the offense the ball
in good field position. Offense find a way to execute
protected run the ball, not.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
Turn it over. Certainly a lot of rooms still grow
and get better from those guys.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Let's come back in a moment and we'll pick the
defensive play of the game. We still gotta get an
EverBank stats check, a player of the game. That's all
still to come. After a Jaguars win over the San
Francisco forty nine ers twenty six to twenty one the
final and bring home the wh and the Jags win,
you win a free Waterburger, and this is Jaguars Post
Game on Jaguars Radio JP Shatterck with Mike Dempsey from
(28:26):
the Hunday studios of the Miller Electric Center. Fred Taylor
on the line with US Jaguars Post Game continues in
PRI Productions, the official event production company of the Jags,
has everything you need to bring your next idea to life.
Visit PRI Productions dot com. Time for the Kingfish, pest control.
Defensive play of the game. So many to choose from today,
(28:47):
but we'll go with the last takeaway. When the forty
nine ers had the football and they were nearing midfield,
Eric Armstead, the former forty nine er, comes through with
a forced Fumblefoyer lou can recover where is it? Off
of Rock Perdy. The fourth takeaway of the game for
the Jaguars seals at Eric Armstead with the defensive play
of the game, and Fred, you know, he's got to
(29:10):
feel really good about going back to a place where
he played for so long at a high level and
getting an impact play to close it out.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Unmute yourself, Freddy, you're still muted.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Fred, Here we go.
Speaker 6 (29:24):
You know, I'm trying to be respectful of our program
here you know, I got kids running all over the place.
They don't understand that.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
That is working at home when the Jaguars play away.
Speaker 6 (29:35):
I got to teach him better here. Like they're coachable, right,
they got to be coachable in these moments.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
So and I have to be better.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
Uh you know.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
But a huge impact play for Eric, right there? Man.
Speaker 6 (29:45):
And you know when I went to New England, just
to give you an example, I was a little banged up,
but more than anything, I wanted to have one hundred
plus and a touchdown or two versus my former teammates
and my former team. So I can only imagine what
he feels.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
Again, as I was starting to say, not only that
it was an impact play, but at the moment that
it occurred over two minutes and some change.
Speaker 6 (30:08):
They have to get the ball back to the offense
and be able to take a breather, and I have
to worry about the Niners going down to take a lead.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
There.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Such a big play, huge play, and it's good to
see him and the interior start to get some more
push up the middle. Right, and this is.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Gonna need it, right, I mean, we don't. Hopefully Trayvon
will be fine for Monday. Night football. We don't know though,
and officially that was the Eric Armser player was the
only sacked that the Jags had today. They got close
a few times, but you know, I'd like to see
a little bit more. Get the quarterback on the ground
and if that comes from the interior, let's go.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Yeah, and Josh Hans Allen seemed to have some consistent
pressure again today, even against Trent Williams on the left
side of that offensive line.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
Fred Yeah, big, big time by Josh man Baby.
Speaker 6 (30:50):
To step up and show that he's a true leader
on that team, not only defense but on the team.
But I wanted to go back to Eric really quick.
I have to come in a year go as a
free agent. I don't believe he had a great year.
You know that was free agent worthy for what they
paid him. But somehow someway in this scheme on the Campanelly.
(31:11):
I mean, just to be able to see him in
these games, these first four weeks at a season. He's
a different guy. He's the guy that we saw in
San Francisco. So a big credit to him for whatever
he did to change to say I'm gonna go back
in the offseason, come back and be a much better
player and show these people down and do all what
(31:32):
you know I'm capable of doing. I think we're seeing that.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
EverBank stats check when we return a final score of
Jags twenty six forty nine Ers twenty one plenty ahead.
It is Jaguars Post Game on the Jaguars Radio Network,
Welcome back, Jaguars Postgame, presented by G. E. JP shatterd
Mike jem C, Fred Taylor from the Hyundai Studios, and
(31:57):
let's get an ever Bank stats check after a Jags
win twenty twenty one total yardage, Jaguars actually out gained
by San Francisco three eighty nine to three twenty five
rushing yards, though Big Jags won fifty one on the
ground eighty three for San Fran. Passing net yards three
zero six for the forty nine Ers, one seventy four
for the Jags. The Jaguars were four to fourteen on
(32:18):
third down San Fran eight of thirteen. The Jags had
eighteen first downs to the forty nine ers twenty two
penalties twelve for ninety yards against the Jaguars today, five
for fifty four yards against San Francisco. Time of possession
thirty two minutes thirty one seconds in favor of Jacksonville,
and of course, the big turnover stat the big one
(32:39):
of the day. Four turnovers by San Francisco, four takeaways
by the Jaguars defense tells the tail.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Mike four to zero yes, tells the tail as well.
Trevor Lawrence on the day twenty one out of thirty one,
one hundred and seventy four yards, touchdown, no interceptions, first
time he hasn't thrown an interception in seven games. He
had six straight games with at least one coming in
going back to last year, ninety two point seven quarterback
rating today brock perty twenty two to thirty eight three
h nine through two touchdowns, also had the two picks,
(33:08):
was sacked the one time, and his quarterback rating coming
in just under eighty. Travis etn spectacular six and a
half yards of carry today nineteen totes for one hundred
and twenty four yards and a touchdown, out shining Christian McCaffrey,
who had seventeen carries for forty nine yards under three
yards of pop. Great job Jaguar run defense there. Brian
Thomas led the way with forty nine yards through the
(33:30):
year on five receptions Brenton Strange chipping in six for
forty five. Three catches by Travis Hunter resulted in forty
two yards. McCaffrey was the leading receiver for the forty
nine ers with six grabs for ninety two with a touchdown.
Jake Tungus the tight end three for fifty eight with
a score as well. Defensively for your Jacksonville Jaguars, Eric Armstead,
(33:52):
as we mentioned with the sack. The turnovers though interceptions
a pair of them by Devin Lloyd and a pair
of fumble recoveries as well, won each by Foyer, Luiken
and Andrew Wingard on defense, So that tells the tale
today JPS, we talked about this team creating just an
(34:12):
almost unbelievable amount of turnovers in the first four weeks
of a season.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
When you get to takeaways on defense and you can
run the football, Fred, now you got something. With Travis
Etn's performance today, one hundred and twenty four on nineteen carries.
Speaker 6 (34:26):
Yeah, Travis is making a statement. No, he's saying, Look,
I'm a free agent. I gotta make you guys, It's
not going to be an easy decision for you. You're
gonna re sign me or I'm gonna go somewhere else
and get paid, and I text you during the games, JP.
I mean, he was explosive, he's quick, he made the
right cuts, he understood the assignment, he meaning he knew
(34:48):
it was a big game and knew it was at stake.
So as long as they can continue that formula, protecting
football first, no turnovers, protecting the quarterbacks, no sacks, running
the football, playing great defense, taking advantage of the field
position that the defense creates for you, this team can
can can at least, at the very least make the
(35:12):
playoffs if they continue this this sort of set up.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
He's pushing four hundred yards in four weeks on the ground.
That's a pretty good pace to start the season.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
But that's the efficiency too. I mean six and a
half today, you know. I mean he's been picking up
in chunks and that breakaway run is back in his game.
We hadn't seen it for a little while.
Speaker 6 (35:32):
That's right, Yeah, And it seems as if he's a
threat to go on almost each and every carry. So
the quickness is there. More than anything, I think the
confidence is there.
Speaker 4 (35:44):
You know, he's been.
Speaker 6 (35:45):
Relieved, especially after the departure of the trade of Tank Bigsby.
I believe he understands that he is the man. The
team made a commitment to him by not trading him.
Traded away Tank, and now he's out there as the
leader and it's shows man.
Speaker 4 (36:00):
So bake, you know, Bake. Congrats to his performances so
far this year.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
We're re turned with the Jaguars Radio Network Player of
the Game voting. We've got an injury report still ahead
in a preview of next week as well. It's all
coming up after a Jaguars win twenty six to twenty
one over the Niners. And this is Jaguars post Game
on Jaguars Radio. Jaguars Post Game brought to you by
GJ Government Employees Health Association Benefits for federal employees and retirees.
(36:29):
JP Shadwick, Mike Dempsey, and Jacksonville Fred Taylor with us
from South Florida. If you want to watch press conferences,
you can watch it on a different stream on Jaguars YouTube.
Jaguars Post Game will not be interrupted. Moving ahead. Glad
to have you with us of course here on the
Jaguars Radio Network as well. After a Jaguars win twenty
six twenty one. In time now for the Player of
(36:50):
the Game voting. I get to vote, Mike gets a vote,
fred gets a vote, and A have to break any
dead lucks plenty to choose from tonight. But I'm gonna
get us going tonight, all right, and I'm gonna go
with a guy who's playing out of his mind this season.
On defense, Devin Lloyd eight tackles, tackle for loss, two
interceptions in the game. He is playing at an unreal
(37:13):
level right now and had two picks today. That is
a massive, massive game for Devin Lloyd in a contract year.
Speaker 5 (37:19):
Mike, it is.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
And I guess I am going to trump fred Taylor's
vote in half here because I'm with you. I already
told him, Freddy, I'm like, look etn outstanding man, I mean,
just absolutely outstanding. But can we hear it for Devin Lloyd?
Speaker 9 (37:33):
Right?
Speaker 3 (37:33):
Much maligned with good reason?
Speaker 5 (37:35):
Freddie?
Speaker 3 (37:35):
It was a month ago he was listed as a
co starter with Ventrel Miller. Right, did we hear Vnrell's
name today? Devin Lloyd's eating up all the snaps now
with good reason. Three interceptions on the season for Devin Lloyd,
the biggest liability and coverage in the Jaguars linebacker Corps
for the last few years. I mean, look, I don't
know if it's Anthony Campanila or what's gotten into him
(37:56):
contract year. Whatever, Man, we're reaping the benefits. The law
gets my boat as well.
Speaker 6 (38:02):
Yeah, that was kind of sweet and sweeter and sour
right there. I mean, you HiPE him up, Mike, you
knocked them down and you hip him back up.
Speaker 4 (38:10):
I mean, but it's true. It's true. Gotta be realistic,
it's true. I mean, you look at the Buffalo tape
a year ago. This isn't the same guy. So it's unanimous.
Sweet man, I think he played an amazing game.
Speaker 6 (38:23):
If you take those two picks away, Jacksonville lose because
they led to ten points. So nice and sweet, very simple.
Devin Lloyd, you know the network player of the game, because.
Speaker 4 (38:35):
You deserve it, My brother, no doubt.
Speaker 6 (38:37):
You gotta be careful after you running the run after
the interception. We gotta work on that. So if you're listening,
maybe you're not, but.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
If you hear the replay, I gotta work with him
on the run after.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
The case, Okay, always room for improvement, even after a
two interception days.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
I'm sure I have good authority that he will be
listening to the replay on the plane ride home, by
the way, so.
Speaker 4 (38:58):
Okay, well listen.
Speaker 6 (39:00):
Only suggestion would be, you know, just keep your hands
on the ball, don't get it back to him.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
Just secure the football, don't have it hanging. He's moving,
he has some nice quicks and he you know, for
a big guy, he's moving. But can't be reckless with
the ball. That's all I would say.
Speaker 6 (39:17):
I just stopped breathing every time this year he's caught
a interception and try to run it back in.
Speaker 4 (39:22):
My eye because they're gonna do the peanut punch, I know.
So that's it. That's it.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
Two interception day for Devin Lloyd, a day where the
Jaguars had four takeaways and had another football on the ground.
They nearly recovered a fifth takeaway in the game, but
Devin Woyd is the Jaguars Radio Network player of the
game and from the backyard to the beaches. The Ford

(39:51):
The UFL injury report when we return A few names
on the list today for the Jaguars in a winning
result twenty six to twenty one, the final win over
the forty nine Ers. At the Jaguars post game on
Jaguars Radio, Jaguars Postgame presented by Geha continues J P. Shadwick,
Mike Dempsey and Fred Taylor after a Jags win twenty
(40:14):
six twenty one over the San Francisco forty nine Ers.
Jags now three and one. They dropped the Niners to
three and one as well, and the injury report is
presented by uf Health, the proud healthcare partner of the
Jacksonville Jaguars, in a lengthy list today. Foyer Luiken in
the first quarter first drive was retaped, was looking at
(40:35):
his wrist, was out later in the game. Came back
in made an impact of course in the game today,
he didn't finish it out. Trey Vutton walker right wrist issue,
second quarter, was ruled out of the game after halftime.
Anton Harrison in the second quarter with an elbow issue.
Came back in after half for a bit, but then
was later out of the game as well. Eric Murray
(40:55):
in the third quarter with a neck issue. Antonio Johnson
right after Murray came out. Johnson came in, appeared to
kind of take a shot and was dazed getting up,
but he was cleared and returned to the game. Brian
Thomas Junior in the third quarter out for just a
moment and then was back into the ball game. And
then Patrick mckerry in the fourth quarter. The right guard
with a knee issue did not return. So the offensive
(41:18):
line with Esther Cleveland already beat up coming into the
game and then rolled on at the last kneel down,
was kind of limping around there. There's a lot going
on in the offensive line. Fred, right now, the right
guard and the right tackle, we're both back up to
the end of the game.
Speaker 4 (41:32):
Yeah, and they did an amazing job.
Speaker 6 (41:34):
You know, I don't believe the pressure shifted or changed.
The backs didn't have to chip out in pass protection.
So again, still zero sacks. That next man mentality. Earlier on,
we said that the coaches deserved, you.
Speaker 4 (41:50):
Know, a big shout out because they got these guys ready.
They're prepared.
Speaker 6 (41:55):
So as long as they can continue to do that
play well, give these guys an opportunity to heal up
throughout the course of the season, so that if guys
aren't missing any significant time, then those guys that are
filling in for him, sho'll be able to play well
enough so that this team doesn't miss a beat.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
Treyvon Walker when is concerning, certainly he didn't come back
to the game. Gonna have him, he's lay at a
high level.
Speaker 4 (42:18):
Two.
Speaker 6 (42:19):
Yeah, and then we're saying next week the team that
they're going to trace the best quarterback in football, and
Patrick Mahomes those overthrows that we saw today won't be
overthrows next week.
Speaker 4 (42:31):
So the thing that will come back against that is.
Speaker 6 (42:34):
Pressure and having travel back healthy or having him out
there will certainly make a difference. But it's alarming JP
because the quarter that in which it happened, the second quarter,
you're seeing a risk you know, I don't know, ligament fracture,
who knows. I don't want to put any bad juju
(42:54):
on it. Hopefully he's okay.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
We'll come back in a moment and preve you. Monday
Night football next week is the Jaguars entertained the Kansas
City Chiefs. They'll do it with a three to one
record after a win today in San Francisco over the
forty nine ers twenty six, twenty one and this is
Jaguars post game on the Jaguars Radio Network.
Speaker 4 (43:15):
J D.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
Shadwick, Mike Dempsey, Fred Taylor from the Hondai Studios, the
Jaguars winning over the forty nine ers twenty six twenty one.
Jags are now three to one and now here come
the Kansas City Chiefs. Monday night football under the lights
at EverBank Stadium. Got to have a packed house this week, Fred,
for a team that's really kind of found their way,
(43:36):
certainly defensively, the Jaguars have at home against the perennial
AFC power and the Chiefs.
Speaker 6 (43:42):
Yeah, having a pack house is what Coach Cohen called
for there and his post game conference.
Speaker 4 (43:49):
So hopefully do all.
Speaker 6 (43:51):
If you can't get excited to come to a football
game at this point in the season, then don't ever come.
Speaker 4 (43:58):
I just got to say how it is. If you
can come, come, and I know.
Speaker 6 (44:02):
Some people have obligations, but this is your home team,
and you know they're they're they're finding their way. Probably
should have the most excitement around this team that we've
had in years. It's a Monday night game right out
the river right there, and do ball. If you can
show up, you know, if you got tickets, you can
get out there.
Speaker 4 (44:23):
Make sure you're in the bank.
Speaker 6 (44:24):
It's going to be a crazy, great atmosphere and the
team is going to need you. So I remember those
pack houses.
Speaker 9 (44:31):
Man.
Speaker 6 (44:32):
My first Monday Night, my first player of the game
was a seventy nine yard touchdown in a big win
versus the Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (44:40):
We need that thing rocking just like that. Gotta be electric.
Speaker 6 (44:44):
Come on out, do balls, make it happen, and we
gotta go, Mike.
Speaker 2 (44:48):
The Chiefs started on in two, they've since won two,
and they put thirty seven on the Ravens today. Thirty
seven the final Mahomes with four touchdown pass.
Speaker 3 (44:56):
Of course, that's one less than the Ravens gave up
on Monday. So it's like their defense is suspect, but
you're right, that offense is starting to get rolling. The
best thing about Monday Night Football this week is it's
Monday Night football because Liam Cohen has been putting that heavy,
padded work off an extra day anyway to let these
guys recuperate with this injury list. I mean, you can
put the guys in pads on Friday if you want
(45:18):
to give them a couple of extra days to let
that body recuperate a little bit, Freddy.
Speaker 4 (45:23):
Yeah, Mike, you hit it right on the head, man.
Speaker 6 (45:25):
And not only that, they got this long journey you know,
post flight, I mean post game flight, five hours back
from the West coast. So that's gonna play. I rolled
in it too, because it's already cutting into whatever Monday
preparation plans that you had. So I would assume they're
going to meet later, you know, in the day tomorrow.
Give these guys an opportunity and may sleep in a
(45:47):
little bit, come in, get their treatment, and kind of
shift the schedule a bit.
Speaker 4 (45:52):
So huge point right there, Mike, Man that you mentioned it.
Speaker 6 (45:56):
Man, that one extra day is right on time, especially
when you look at the injury list.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
Fred well done. As always, we'll talk to you again
a little later this week. Enjoy it.
Speaker 6 (46:07):
I'm gonna be ready, man, I'm pulling up early, and
I'm asking arresting do All to do it too.
Speaker 5 (46:13):
You know how it goes.
Speaker 4 (46:14):
I'm excited this team is rolling. Mike said they should
be four and oh, and I believe it.
Speaker 6 (46:20):
But hopefully they can finish this week four and one
