Speaker 1 (00:00):
Question. Uh you asking if it meant more fired up.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
I mean just his passion I think has been awesome
to see as players.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Brought a lot of energy to our team.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
The way that he talks, why he speaks, and then
the way that he just lives it and acts every day.
I mean, you can tell he loves what he does.
He cares a lot about it, cares about us as players.
So I think that sh that shows he puts a
lot of work in so but he's he's like that
every week constly. I don't I wouldn't say there was
necessarily more than than normal, but you know, it's a
good football team that we beat today, so we're all
(00:37):
pretty fired up after.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Getting that win. Uh yeah, I mean definitely.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
You know, you use everything you can, right and if
they're gonna give you free fuel, you take it. So
that's something that you always do. But at the end
of the day, you gotta go play the game. That
stuff doesn't really matter. You got to go take care
of business and execute and find a way to win
the game, which we did today. So it feels great.
But you know, you try to use anything you can
for sure as motivation.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
This is the most brushing attempts you've had since a
week more of twenty twenty three. Is there anything that
this defense gave why I what led you to scramb
so much?
Speaker 2 (01:13):
This? I mean, it's a good defense. It's really sound.
I think in their zone coverages they're they're really good.
They take away a lot of things, especially on third down.
They do a good job of dropping to certain spots,
mixing in match coverage, being physical, pressing guys.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
So they took some things away from us, how to
you know, move around a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
And then there at the end of the game, obviously
had had some keepers and then some some sneaks along
the way and all that stuff kind of adds up.
But yeah, this is it's a good defense. They've been
a good defense for a long time. A lot of
good players over there, well coached, you can tell. So
there's times where you got to kind of usually like
you've thought I could have even done it more, to
be honest, today on some of those third downs, you know,
(01:50):
we weren't as good as you know we want to
be on third down, and I felt like I could
have maybe extended a few more players, to be honest.
So just gotta watch that and keep learning from it
and grow and they've ever Uh the Travis Hunter on
the third line sort of watching saw that one. Yeah,
we went Temple on the ball and they got to
shell coverage and they kind of doubled BT into the
(02:10):
boundary and then we had you know, then we had
cloud of the field, so that safety was put in
the buying and Travis just did a great job of
taking it straight down the middle over Fred and just
throwing over the top, kind of seeing it as I
got back to the field side progression and uh, Travis
set a great angle for me to throw it and
obviously made a great play on the ball. Safety kind
of came back in and tried to break it up,
(02:31):
and it's a great catch by Travis.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
How much was the punk return cause you guys have
struggled a little bit to move the ball consistently in.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
That third quarter. It's huge.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
I mean, special teams made a bunch of big plays today,
some some great kick returns, some great punts. I mean, uh,
obviously the apartment turned for a touchdown is huge. You know,
there's a lot of players special teams.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Man.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
It was just a full effort game by everyone and
that you know, obviously get some points on the board,
give us a little bit of a cushion, and then
our defense again just with the takeaways and the big
stops and then us just having to go and and
get a first down and finish the game out, you know.
So it was a complete game for us, I think offensively, obviously,
there's a lot more out there that we can that
we can do and and that's the great thing about
(03:11):
it is finding ways to win. And we still feel
like we can grow a lot as an offense. So,
like you said, the punt return and defense and special teams,
you know, did a great job today. Oh yeah, same
locker room we're in. So definitely had some good vibes
and some good memories being back here.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
So it felt good.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Couple, you had to shuttle a couple of line to
do today.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
How much Patrick communication, how long they played?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Those guys get did a great job. I mean the
whole the whole unit. We had what seven or eight
guys play today. I mean, uh, that's hard to do.
It's hard to just come in and you haven't gotten
a lot of reps with that starting unit and guys
filling in and playing well, you know, they hats off
to them and they protected. Well, we ran the ball great,
did what we needed to do. They gave me plenty
of time back there. I mean, those guys did an
awesome job. And that's a hard job to come in
(03:59):
as a as an offensive lineman and you know, drop
of a pin and have to go and protect, especially
in a third down or whatever it is. Uh, and
those guys stepped up. So they did a great job.
Takeaways for you guys in four weeks on offense, man,
it's uh yeah, it's it's huge for your team, just
the takeaways, the turnover margin. Like we always talk about
that battle of I mean, you want to take one
(04:20):
thing away from this game or just any game in general,
is if you win, if you have less turnovers than
other team, you got a good chance of winning, you know,
taking everything else out of it. So I think for
us that's been a huge advantage for us, our defense
getting bunch of turnovers in today. Finally we had a
game where we didn't give the ball away, so obviously
it ended up being a what five point game? You know,
those things matter at the end of the day when
(04:41):
you have I think we got three turnovers and or
maybe more and then three or four and then we
didn't have any You know that that makes a difference,
So gotta keep doing it.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Is there just a belief now that they're gonna get
two or three game at this point in the four.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Weeks, you know, Yeah, it's uh, there is a belief
for sure, and and those guys believe. And I think
that's why we're getting the ball so much because they
work on it and practice constantly and it's always they're
punching at the ball. They're getting their hands on footballs
down the field, you know, making plays in the back end.
Like it's something that they've been working so hard on
since the spring and to see it show up is
really cool for us as an offense, you know, we
(05:15):
got to keep taking care of the ball, and you know,
I I I'd be surprised if we win every single
game getting three takeaways the whole season. So you know,
we can't clean some stuff up and go score some
more points on offense. I know we can be better. Uh,
but yeah, there is a belief that our defense is
gonna get takeaways cause they've proven it through four weeks
and just keep doing it.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
You know, it helps us out. Obviously, getting those turnovers.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
I be Liam talks about if you need to hear
for a while where there wasn't a lot of that
reveal resiliency. That's who this team is at this point.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
Gets is that kind of what your belief is.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Yeah, I mean we're it's it's a great start for us.
Like I've like I've said the last couple of weeks.
I mean it's early in the year still, but the
way we've won a couple of these games, and I
think just in any game there's gonna be adversity and
ups and downs, and that just the way we've handled
them has been. Uh, it's been awesome. Team's really coming together,
getting behind each other, playing complimentary football when when something happens,
(06:06):
we really take advantage of the momentum swings. I think
that was a big thing today.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
And we just play a full game.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
You don't know what what the next play is gonna hold,
just what even if something bad happened the play before,
just play the next play, keep looking forward. And I
think our this team's done a good job of that.
But you gotta keep keep doing it.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Yeah, we're uh, very opportunistic.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
You know, we have a lot of ball hawks on
the defense, and the ball is always on our mind.
You know, it starts up front, and I think everybody
just capitalizing on the opportunities that we have season this year.
Is it what is the the change then? Yeah, I
mean I think it starts in practice. You know, we
always practice taking the ball away, punching the ball out,
(06:50):
you know, catching the ball. Everybody always has the ball
in their mind. And I think whenever you're thinking about
it all the time, naturally, you know, those plays and
those opportunities, you'll be ready for a whenever they whenever
they present themselves.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
Run us through that second interception that that ball get deflected.
It looks like a little bit and it's just like
an easy catch.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Right, Yeah, it was.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
I believe Mason tiffed at the line of scrimmage, so
I have to go back and see that, but I'm
pretty sure he did.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
That's what I heard.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
And then you know, I just had a good feel
for where he was trying to go with the ball
and you know, luckily through it and uh it was
right there.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
It was a easy catch, the first one.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
Just a matter's sticking with it.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Fucanccaffrey's handling. He's got like that Yeah, he found his
way through.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
He leaked through, and uh, those are one of those
players you gotta just keep running, you know. Uh, Coach
Camps always talks about running to the ball, and the
opportunity was there whenever you you know, opportunity are gonna
be there when you get to the ball. So you know,
fortunately that was on our side and you know I
was able to get the tip.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Are you played the best football in your career to.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Start this year?
Speaker 5 (07:49):
Yeah, I'm playing good football. You know, I think as
a team, we're all playing good football. And ultimately, you know,
I'm just focused on playing my best for the team
so we can win. You know, it's a great team win.
This is is uh comp it. It was complimentary ball and
everybody was playing together and uh believe throughout the whole court, Uh,
throughout the whole game. So just proud of everybody. And
like I said, we're all playing off each other.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
You thought to Eric, at all offer you guys made
that sat on pretty because of all the years of
air was here at or was it bring him.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
To get this kind of win? A man that was
so special?
Speaker 5 (08:19):
You know, I'm just so happy for Eric for you know,
he didn't spend so much time here and uh this
was his home for so long, and to make a
play like that return home, you know, just so happy
for him and uh you know he deserves uh every
bit of that. You know, that was big for him.
Speaker 4 (08:35):
You guys in the way with anything that Robert Sallas
said about stealing signs, did that impact anybody in that
locker room this week at all?
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Nope? Nope?
Speaker 6 (08:45):
See the game turn Yeah, I was, Uh, can't write
a better script than that, to be honest, just walk
up today, you know, didn't wanna make it bigger than
it was and just leaving them and you know, see
what today had to bring. And it was a pretty
special day, probably one I won't forget.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
What was it like being the best locker room and
it's just a it's a different you know, coming back
here and be.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
On their side. Yeah, it was. It was weird.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
I think I've been in this locker room one time
for the Practical Championship when I was in college. But yeah,
coming into the visit of the locker room was a
little weird for sure, and uh yeah, but it was
it was an amazing experience.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
You know.
Speaker 6 (09:29):
Obviously I got a lot of memories in this building,
and I just made another one today.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Did you happen to give your signature gesture after you
stacked pretty?
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Yeah? I did?
Speaker 2 (09:38):
You did?
Speaker 3 (09:38):
Ago, Yes, you do.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
Robert tallerwell you know them. Well when did you think
of the whole back and forth beca this week and
ad then after the games sort of seen? Oh, I
don't know what happened after the game. Uh.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
I know, coaches get competitive, you know they're there are
two great coaches and.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
Obviously r uh both fiery. So I don't really know
what that was about.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
So that play, uh the fumble, uh force fumble. Uh
obviously doing that against your you know, former team. Uh.
I was talking to you, Foyer, you said, uh, you
kind of took the ball up and held it up
like uh the lion king. What was that celebration? Where
did that come from?
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (10:18):
Yeah, in the locker room the coach game and game
ball and uh, I just you know, held it up
like it was the most precious thing in the world,
cause the ball is and you know this, Like I said,
this was a big day for me, a big day
for our team, you know, getting our first road win
in this fashion.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
Against a great team. It's to day.
Speaker 6 (10:39):
You know, I'll I'll I'll remember always, especially in you know,
my career. There's gonna be certain games I'll forget about
obviously playing a lot of football, but this, this won't
be one of those.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Well is it kind of talk thought mostly though when
you're when you're playing form routine because you have so
many you played so many years, you know, with the
forty nine ers, and you're you know, on the other side,
is it always kind of difficul when.
Speaker 6 (10:59):
You're yeah, it w It was a little weird, But
like I said, the my mindset was that, like, it's
a unique experience that not a lot of human beings
get to have. Playing in the NFL for one, but
being somewhere for so long coming back, Uh like that
that kind of situation not a lot of people get
(11:22):
to have in their life.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
So, you know, I was just living in a moment
and seeing how the day went.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Mm is it surprising to even think thirteen turnovers in
four games? I mean, that's a lot of turnovers, you guys,
I mean, a little hard to believe.
Speaker 6 (11:35):
Uh, it it it it, It is crazy. Weir it
obviously it's historic, and you know it's something we we
talk about and preach like we wanna take the ball
away and get the ball back to our offense and
we're doing it at extremely high level. Now early in
the season. Got to keep it going. But off to
(11:57):
a great start, what did it.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Need to come back?
Speaker 3 (11:59):
You're not uh suggection for black Guarth, but as the
Walter Payton.
Speaker 6 (12:03):
End of the year, definitely hold that with you know,
a huge honor to represent not only the myself and
my family, but the NFL and my team and you know,
everyone who looks up to me for all the things
(12:23):
that I've done.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
I wear that with huge honor, and.
Speaker 6 (12:27):
So it feels good to to play out there with
the patch and so everyone can you know, see that
and it can be on display, cause I wanna continue
to inspire uh the next generation and so hopefully I'm
doing that.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Eric.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Thank you, sir. I appreciate you.
