Speaker 1 (00:00):
Initial emotions this week facing forty niners any of that.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Uh, excited about the opportunity to you know, go back there,
and you know, it's a big time game for us planning.
It's a good team, So I'm excited about the opportunity
to get back there and lace them up.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
What about the it seems like there's great communications defensive
by a lot of games stunts tw How is this
off season built up to what you guys are doing
up front right now?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yeah, it just starts with communication being as locked in
as possible. I think we still have a long ways
to go, but we'll continue to get better and better
as the season goes on.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
What's your best memory of San Francisco?

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (00:40):
Best memory just playing there? Yeah, just the teammates.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Uh, the bond that you build with you know, you
go through a lot of ups and downs with people,
just like I'm doing here, and you know, so that's
what I chaerished the most is those relationships.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
Those bonds, That's what you know.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Games you'll forget a game and you'll forget about wins
and losses or stats at times, but you know the
people that you were with, you don't really forget about that.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Don't and and what he tries to do.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
He's excellent. I think, you know, it's his track record
speaks for itself. You know, he's a off offensive wizard
and a great coach. And so we're excited about the
about the challenge. You know, it's it'll be a a
lot of different looks for us. Then we have gotten
the first three weeks, but you know, that's what football is.
Each week is a new challenge, new opportunity to you know,

(01:36):
show what you're capable of.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
A start with McCaffrey.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Obviously, you know he's one of the best players in
the league. You know, it's been one of the best
players in the league for a long time. So you
know that's that's the workhorse, the guy they love to
get the ball, and uh, he's a p you know,
special player for sure. So but you know they have
a lot of great players, and you know, if you
just key in on one player, then that opens things up.
So it's about just playing team defense. Obviously, it starts

(02:03):
with stopping the run and then you know, putting pressure
on whoever's that quarterback you.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Mentioned teammates, who are some of the guys that, uh,
you're looking forward to seeing when.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
You get back out there, you know, all the guys
that I play with. You know, it would be be cool,
uh that that'll be after the game and uh, you know,
be able to see some people haven't.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
Seen the wall. Any extra emotion just because this is
probably the only time you'll face the forty nine ers
up to join your career.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Uh not really, No, you do.

Speaker 6 (02:31):
You notice or did you notice when you played out
there when these teams from the East would come out.
W Uh they don't usually fare too well this organization hasn't.
Is there an advantage you guys felt like you had.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
I mean, obviously you're got a dis a little bit
of a disadvantage traveling. You know, that's just with any
home or road game, you know, having to having to
travel and and but you know, at the end of
the day, it's all about mindset, you know, it's it's
uh all about you know that that morning you wake
up and put your feet on the ground the top
of mindset you're gonna enter that game with.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
So it's really hownest.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
About paralize some of that stuff, some of the emotions
of that you are natural going back to a place
where you spent you know.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
As easy to come partamentalize.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
Yeah, like you seem to be. It seems to not
be a big deal to you going not home, but
going back.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
If people know me, people know me. I'm pretty right here, okay,
majority of the time. Never too high and never too low.
Just I'm consistently this way.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
So yeah, what's the next step for the st defense?

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Lead in the league and takeaways?

Speaker 1 (03:35):
You know, there's a lot of good things going on,
But what's the next step for the groups?

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Next step is the next practice, the next game, the
next week, the next challenge I hand, which is the
forty nine ers.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
You know, each week, you know, you don't want to
look too far.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Ahead, and uh, you know you can build upon some
of the positive things you've done, but each week you
gotta go out there and and strap it up and
you know, play the style of play that that you
wanna that you wanna play and dictate things. So what's
next is you know, the next game on our schedule,
and uh, it would be a big one.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Are you comfortable okay? Are you comfortable back inside though
for three weeks in.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
For the regular season, Yeah, I feel good.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
It felt great.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
S decided to to continue this journey with all my
brothers in this locker room and see how good we
can get.

Speaker 6 (04:21):
Are you at all surprised that how quickly that's come
together considering you have a couple of new parks specifically
right next to you.

Speaker 7 (04:27):
Uh, I wouldn't say surprise, just because I've seen how
much work we put in the off season.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (04:32):
Like literally once the new guys came in, they feel
like we played a year together already, Like just everybody
connected so well, and it was good on the field.
It was the same thing on the field. So coming
out there weekend the week out and doing what we're doing,
I wouldn't say it surprise, but it's definitely something that
we knew we can do.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
You look like sound like you're playing pretty good football
right now. Is that comfort level with year three in
the NFL?

Speaker 6 (04:58):
Is that a confidence thing? And what you're trying to
do with the scheme? Where does it come first?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Oh, I'll say a little bit of everything.

Speaker 7 (05:04):
Really for me personally, Uh, it's something that I knew
that I could do.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Uh, just going in and doing the weekend and week out. Uh.

Speaker 7 (05:13):
Also the scheme, I feel like the scheme helps us, really,
all five of us, cause we all like to do
kind of the same things. They all like to move,
run to get up on second level things like that.
So Liam knows that, Grant knows that, and they call
plays to help us out too, So that's part of it.
And then really just me knowing what I had to
fix coming on to last season and just going out

(05:35):
and doing it.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
Like what, Uh was there something primarily you had to
fix that you addressed me personally? I, Uh, my main goal.

Speaker 7 (05:42):
I wanted to go in my run game, work on
the run block and things like that.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
So obviously, uh, me.

Speaker 7 (05:47):
And the coaches we had talks when they came in
and things like that. They challenged me, but it was
already understood, Like I already challenged myself before they even
got here.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
So just things like that and.

Speaker 7 (05:57):
Working on the run game, uh hand placed finishing, just
things like that as well done last week from.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Me, we never talked about legal ship so much.

Speaker 6 (06:04):
How much how can you clean that stuff up? And
how much they have to clean that stuff up.

Speaker 7 (06:10):
Oh, definitely have to clean it up. But it all
comes with practice. Uh, the playbook. Everybody get into playbook,
knowing when to move and on when not to move.
Looking at who's set, who's not set? Just little things
like that, and we're gonna get it right. Uh it's
still early s week four, I was, don't we had
a lot of new cars and them bring us back
a lot.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
But we're gonna be good.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
As what's the first thing that stands out about the
Niners on tape when you try to mind it. Boast
is gone now, But what else do they have in
the urn store there?

Speaker 7 (06:39):
Uh? For me seeing them to the front, they're penetrated front.
Obviously they got Fred Warner. He's a freak athlete. He's
a great player, smart sideline the sidline, so you obviously
gotta oye on him. But as a D line, tough
d line, big on the edges, they're bigger. I'll say
that probably the biggest rushes we played so far this season. Uh,

(07:00):
just like height and length wise and things like that,
but intereor penetrate in front, aggressive if they wanna get
to the ball, sack the quarterback on their way getting there.
So kind of like we did l played last week
with Houston, but a little different. Uh.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
First impressions of Trent Williams as a left tackle.

Speaker 8 (07:18):
I mean, future Hall of Famer much respect to 'em
ready to go to war.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
And then just disattack overall in San Francisco when you
turn on the tape, there's a lot of guys missing.
But what are they doing well right now? Offensively?

Speaker 8 (07:32):
I mean, I think they continue to stick to the
identity of being a forty nine er h No matter
the guys that come in, Uh, they do a good
job of taking that grasp and continue to do what
they do best. So, you know, we just gotta be
you know, sound to our technique and where we're supposed
to be and find online and do a lot of
ships and changes or whatever. We had to know that

(07:53):
expect it to happen. And uh again, you know, anticipate
things to happen, and so we anticipate things, know what
we see it play fast and I think that's all
we really keen on this.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Uh, this week you have Trayvon in one of the
top duos in terms of pressure in the league. But
what's the next step of that? How do you guys
take a next step? What is there one or is
this consistent play from you guys to the next step
to say good Sacks, tell me.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
That's the only thing, that's.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
What you have to how do you get more sacks?

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Josh, keep applying pressure?

Speaker 1 (08:32):
What makes trying William so like?

Speaker 4 (08:34):
What makes really a great left hack?

Speaker 6 (08:36):
On your opinion?

Speaker 8 (08:38):
I mean he has, you know, tremendous feet. He's very fast, agile.
I played against him before, very confident going into this game.
I'm ready to work.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
How compet are you guys in your ability to win
on the road?

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Dropped?

Speaker 4 (08:57):
I think he dropped eleven twelve?

Speaker 8 (09:00):
Yeah, we lost eleven and twelve games in a road. Yeah, hey,
well last time. Well we're want to oh well, we're
oh win one right now on the road. And that's
how many focus is to get a win this week.
Our mentality is, uh forty nine ers and we're gonna
play if we execute, do what we do again, It's
about what we do, and we go in attack obviously

(09:20):
as a defense, understand that they gonna do a lot
of moves and changes and shifts and whatever. We can
understand that not panic, get 'em out, get up, through
'em up front, stop the run. I mean all offense.
I know offense is gonna have a great day, you know,
and I'm excited to see them work so we can
continue to play good company. And football, Uh better than

(09:41):
we did last week. I like what we like what
we do.

Speaker 6 (09:44):
You've seen a lot of guys come in and out
of this locker room. What what's Jordan Lewis brought that's
made this much of it and didn't back and as
guys really raving about.

Speaker 8 (09:52):
Who he is, man, I just think he's came in,
you know, taking control, being a guy that has been
and you know played uh at a high level for
a long time and just coming in and you know
and ba basically just hey, this is what I do
and just not faking anything, being real every single day, uh,

(10:13):
demanding greatness from himself but also from others and making
sure everybody's doing what that's supposed to do. Cause if
we not, we're not gonna be a successful defense. And
that's how we should care about. And he's done a
heck of a job with that. Every single day we
challenge him, he challenges us, and you know, we continue
to push him again and I think he makes me
a better football player and I love playing with him.

Speaker 5 (10:34):
He raved about Devin Lloyd the other night at Honday,
But uh, what did it? What do you've seen for
his growth in terms of being a positional fit and
and making plays.

Speaker 8 (10:44):
I mean, I just think, uh, you know, backs against
the wall? Yeah, how you gonna respond? And I think
I don't know if there's backs against the wall obviously,
contract situation, you see the things our things played out.
I just think it, you know, right now it's I'm
gonna give you my best stuff, and right now he's
giving us his best stuff and he's playing out a
high level. And we wanted to continue to play like that,

(11:05):
and uh, and I'm certainly he will.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
He was a heck of a leader in college. But
do you start to see.

Speaker 6 (11:10):
Some of that come out now that he's playing good
football as well?

Speaker 4 (11:13):
M Yeah.

Speaker 8 (11:14):
I mean I think he's always been a vocal guy.
He's always been He's always been like just do He
does what he does, and I think he wants the
guys to follow that, But.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (11:25):
Actually, I think he just makes a lot of players now.
He talks a lot of crap and we celebrate that
and he does it again.

Speaker 6 (11:32):
Is he a guy normally will break you down like
before a game?

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Cause we saw that, Yeah, he does, he does.

Speaker 8 (11:36):
He's again I think, uh, everybody who speaks is not like, hey,
you speak this timy is you feel something, you say something.
If you think it's you got something to say that's
gonna affect everybody, say it. And that's the type of
guys that we have around here. And usually I think
it was Jordan, but Devin has something to say to
everybody that he felt very passionate and and confident about.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
He expressed it to the team.

Speaker 8 (11:58):
Wants to get in his energy and you know, he
had a hell of a day and what we did too,
just all.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
That go hand at him.

Speaker 5 (12:04):
Playmaking and confidence and maybe your ability and your confidence
in yourself and in the scheme and whatnot, you're confident
enough to also speak up and be a leader.

Speaker 8 (12:17):
Yeah, I mean I think, uh, I think everybody feels
as if you know, leaders, guys that's vocal, are guys
that's making the plays. So I feel like, you know, hell,
if you make it plays, you got sign the same
feel like people should listen. But again, if you're a leader,
you should never take that away from the guys that

(12:38):
put the work in daily. Who doesn't have a good game,
doesn't feel like you need to shy away. You still
need to step up and guys see you as that
type of guy. So you gotta be vocal still. But
you know, as a guy like Devin man help make
it plays. Hey, you got you say you wanna say?

Speaker 3 (12:53):
So, what have you seen form? Mason's off too? Me.

Speaker 8 (12:55):
Uh, God, that's hungry. God that wants to be on
the field at all times. Once he's I think he's
getting better every every week and again this is a
good opportunity for him to really keep testing his ability
and you know, his endurance and just his play making
skills which I know you can make a lot of
place for us.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Is this the best football consistently you have played in
your career? And why is it? Why is it now?
What's going so well for you right now?

Speaker 9 (13:19):
I just think, you know, I like the system that
we got to, like us playing together as a whole.
Everybody's communicating well, everybody's in the right spots, and we're
just playing together. It's really eleven is one. I think
everybody is doing a great job. You know, I think
collectively we're playing in best ball as a unit that
we played and you know, all that goes hand in hand,

(13:39):
and you know, just looking forward to continuing to build
off all the success that we've had.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
It feels like there's a lot of just wide open,
clear communication with this group at all levels. Is that
you feel that on the field too.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (13:50):
Yeah, communication is like the number one thing in our defense,
and that's definitely at a premium and it's showing.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
The results are showing.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
What's the next step for this group? I mean, leading
the league in two takeaways, a lot of pressure on
the quarterback. What can this defense do better consistently?

Speaker 9 (14:05):
Just continue to take the ball away. We're gonna hang
our head on great run defense. You know, those are
two primary things. Continue to limit explosive plays, and I
think the biggest thing is just finding ways to get
better individually at different techniques per person. I think collectively
that will help us be even more stout in all areas.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Last one for me here Christian McCaffrey, Run game, Pass game.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
He's all over the place.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
What sticks out on tape? What's what's the most dangerous
thing he does?

Speaker 9 (14:34):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, he's just such a threat. And
in the past game in the run game as well,
he's got really good vision. He lets the online uh
you know, they stay on tracks really well, so you know,
he works really well off of them. And obviously in
the past game. We know he's definitely a threat and
at in in that offense. So just all around back
and we're looking forward.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
To the challenge.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Fun playing right now, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
It's definitely fun. Winning is fun.

Speaker 9 (15:01):
Obviously having an individual success is fun. You know, you
combine those two balls. Definitely, Uh, definitely enjoy enjoyment.

Speaker 6 (15:09):
I remember when you got drafted coming out of Utah,
you were a heck of a leader and that you know,
you're an older guy at the time, but do you
feel some more of that emerging now with the confidence
and maybe you're just comfortable kind of tapping back into.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Some of that for sure. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (15:25):
I mean I have my way of leading, especially on
this team. You know, I think depending on the situation
you're in, you know, things may vary. Uh, you know,
for my case, you know, I definitely have my way
of leading as far as you know, it's not always
as upfront, but it's more so those those personal relationships
and feeling confident and you know, just speaking my piece
in parting wisdom and just being the type of person

(15:48):
that the type of leader that I know how to be. Obviously,
you know, when it comes to the public display of
vocal leadership. There's that aspect obviously as well. You continue,
you can always continue to grow in that area. But
for me, I have my way of leading, and uh,
you know, I think it's been doing pretty good for
this team.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Premier View.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
Why has Jordan been so impactful to this room and
on the field.

Speaker 9 (16:11):
Yeah, he's like that vocal leader, that veteran, that guy
who's you know, he's gonna bring us up. Uh in
the huddle, he's he's gonna, you know, speak his piece.
But then just on the field, he's a ballplayer, Like
he's really a ballhawk, Like he uh has a really
good grasp of the game and you know where he
can make plays. Just you know, he's a ballplayer and uh,
we're diffict lucky to have him.

Speaker 5 (16:31):
He's
