(01:28):
can't wait. So up, first, I'd love to share my
interview with Jet Jurgensmeyer. Here we go. Hello everyone, This
is Joe Best Pino Boone and I'm back here at
the Josie Show with Jet Jurgensmeyer.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
Hello, Hey having me, Oh thank you so much for
coming back on the show.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
It's always blast having you on. It's so cool being
able to catch up with you because I feel like
you always have something new coming or coming out or cool.
There really is, really is. And I want to talk
a little bit about your latest single titled Good Days.
Can you tell a little bit about this song? It's
doing very well?
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Absolutely, thank you so much. First of all, yes, it
has been doing surprisingly well. It's been an absolute blessing
and crazy to watch it grow. I always I always
kind of tell people when I described the song, don't
let the title fool you. It is an upbeat, heartbreak song.
It's about getting lost in the good days of a
(02:22):
bad relationship essentially. And so I wrote it with my
friend Drew, and it was our first time ever writing together,
and so I was just throwing out some melody ideas.
We had no idea where the song was going to go,
and an hour and a half ish later, we ended
up having a song that I didn't think I was
(02:42):
going to record. It was just when I was going
to pitch and see where it landed. And the more
I kind of sat with it, the more it was like, man,
this might be cool for me. To do and see
where it goes, and I'm so glad that we did
because it's my fastest growing single ever.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Yes, yes, it really is, which is very neat. I
think a lot of people can relate to it as well.
I think that's why, you know, it's making such a
huge impact and it's such a great song, very well written,
well recorded, just the whole package. So I have to ask,
is there any thoughts maybe later on for like an
EP or an album in the near future, because I
(03:18):
know you're always writing.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
There is so a couple of days ago, I kind
of announced without saying the title of it, I have
an album that will be coming out in July July twelfth,
to the exact, and the pre save date is July fourth,
which is super exciting, so you know, easy to remember
July fourth, everybody can go pre save July twelfth. It
(03:41):
comes out, and good Days is one of the songs
on that album, along with Falling to All I Need
and Coffee Bar, which is the other three that I've released.
So all four of those songs are part of an
eleven song album that I have been working on for
over two years now, and still I just I just
wanted to hurry up and get to July so I
(04:03):
can put it out there and everybody can hear it
and enjoy it, and then it can start working on
the next.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yes, fabulous. After all the work you put into this,
you deserve like a seedy release party or something. I
hope you have something planned.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
We we do.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
We have.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
We're in the middle of trying to come up with
something fun to do because it's it's an exciting thing,
you know, this this album is a little bit different
than the last one. The last album I always told
people every one of the songs was either something myself
or one of my co writers had been through, was
going through whatever, something one of us could relate to. Well,
(04:37):
this album is me. This is everything I've been through,
them thinking, gone through anything. So I'm really kind of
being vulnerable, giving people a chance to get to know
me a little bit.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
I love that. Is it typicult for you to, you know,
write songs that are so you know, close to near
and dear to your heart that's very personal to you?
Is it? Is it difficult for you to write those songs?
You could go it's kind of just come forward more
naturally to you easier, you know it kind of depends
on the topic.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
The topic might be difficult to write about or be like, oh,
I got to relive this and write a song about it,
but it's definitely therapeutic, which I feel like every songwriter
says that, but it is. It's like a good old
therapy session. There's a couple songs, there's two songs on
the bottom of the album that are acoustic where I'm
just playing guitar on them and singing, and those songs
(05:28):
are very just therapeutic and personal. And while they can
be difficult to write about, it one hundred percent helps
to have been through the topic because whether it's describing
something in the song or really putting yourself in the
shoes of the person in the song AND'SI case me,
so it's really easy to put myself in that scene
(05:49):
in that scenario. It really really helps to kind of
paint the picture more, be more artistic with describing and
to see like, well, this is really what it was like,
this is more so was like if I say this
and really kind of point this out. So it definitely helps.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Yeah, I feel like it does. I mean just by
good days and you know, and all of your other
projects really kind of had that you know, great feel
to it, and I think a lot of people are
going to relate to the new album, so I hope
everyone checks it out. Are there any thoughts on a
music video for any of the songs that you have
on the album, because I feel like these, you know,
the type of songs that you're describing, would make for
a really good music video, to be honest with you.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
Oh, definitely. You know the music videos that we've done
for Falling to and now Good Days. Yeah, I could
see it happening for one of the others on the album.
There's a couple of songs on there that I think
might be pretty cool with a music video around it,
or even just doing the acoustic songs kind of filming
(06:49):
somewhere that might be neat and me just playing my
guitar playing a couple of them acoustic. I really want
to have versions of each of the songs that are
more broken down so people can really feel the story
and feel my experience through them.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
And any songs. And I'm sure, I'm sure the songs
you know, like Good Days, and I'm sure songs that
you already have released that are also going to be
on this album you've already performed live, But are there
any songs so far that you have performed off of
this album that bill are gravitating to already? Would you say?
Speaker 4 (07:19):
Oh, definitely, fall Into was a big one, and and
you know, at Philly's Good Days is also one that
people have really really liked. I've got a couple that
I that I've played and a couple that I'm really
excited to play with the band that on our tour
starting starting in July. I'm really excited to start playing
(07:39):
basically the full album on tour and get to see
how the audiences react, because you know, I know how
I reacted to hearing a full band in the studio
play the songs, but I want to see how the
audience reacts to hearing them essentially for the first time
to the people that haven't heard the album at that point.
There's define a couple of songs. There's one called Stage.
It's going to be on the album, and I'm super
(08:02):
excited to play that one live. That one is going
to be That one's just going to.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Be a blast. Yeah, Oh definitely, And I love that
You're you know, going on tour, which is very very exciting.
So we have to definitely talk about that. And you
have a great band and that's gonna be behind you.
Tell us a little bit about this tour that you
have going on. This is gonna be so.
Speaker 4 (08:20):
Exciting, absolutely so, starting in July, we are going to
be going, oh my goodness, all over the country from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin,
you name it, we're coming. If you want us to
play in your state, you know, go to jet Jurgensmara
dot com reach out.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
And if people are curious about where I'm going to
be playing and want to come check it out, they
can go to my website under the tour section see
where we're going to be playing.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
UH.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
And I just I feel so blessed. You know, I
get to go on stage with some of my best
friends in the world. My guitar player Jack, my drummer Justin,
my bass player Jacob. We're all for jay names. So
you got JJ jj it yes, and so we all
just have fun. You know, we're all a bunch of friends.
(09:08):
Jack I met at school at Belmont. He lived across
the hall from He quickly became one of my best friends.
Justin I've known for over a year now been one
of my best friends, and Jacob I also met at school.
So we all just get up on stage where young
guys that love playing music, love playing in front of people,
and really enjoy working on our art together because it's
always more fun than you can do what you love
(09:29):
with the people that you love. And so we're we're
just having a good time and we're super excited to
go on this tour. It'd be our first for all
of us, our first real tour that we're doing. So
it's it's nerve wracking, it's scary. Yes, I'm a little paranoid, yes,
but for it, and I know that I know that
God's got a plan and I'm just gonna kind of
(09:50):
let him take the wheel and see what happens.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Yes he does. He got you as far right. I mean,
it's gonna be great, it really is. I'm so excited
for you and for your band. You're welcome. It sounds
like just a great group of guys, And what I
love is you guys are yes, young, but I feel
like people of all ages can really listen and enjoy
your music and also can enjoy the tour as well.
So I do want to put that out there that
of all ages, you've got to go and check out
(10:14):
Jet Jergensmier because you're going to love him, I promise you.
And the music is great.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
Thank you. That's you very welcome. I was looking for
when I was writing this album was making songs that
everyone could relate to. You know, if you're over the
age of like sixteen, you've probably been through a lot
of the things that I'm going to be writing and
performing about. And sometimes people are gonna cry when they
relate to songs. Sometimes people are going to say, yeah,
(10:39):
I remember that.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:41):
So it kind of just pops in different ways. And
if music, I believe music is a great way to
bring people together and make people realize that they're not
alone and whatever it is that they're going through.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Please, once again, can you give out your website and
also your social Neworking site because you are all over
the place, you really are.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Totally totally so my website, my socials, my music, it's
all just under my name, Jet jurgens Meyer, Jet with
one T like a plane and for jurgens Meyer. As
you know, Josie, if you just type in Jay you are,
I will pop up that you don't you don't have
to know all the letters, so Jet sure, and now
(11:18):
I'll come up and you can listen to my music.
You can pre save the album on July fourth. You
can see where I'm going to be playing on my
website and go shoot me a message on Instagram or
something and say, hey, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (11:31):
See please do yes, connect because he will he will
get back to you, which is so great. You you
really are great and connect with you know, the fans
and the friends and all of that, which I absolutely
love about you and have loved about you. And I
hope everyone goes and finds, you know, check out the website,
check out all your music, good days, that music video
(11:51):
you got to check out, you know, just everything that
Jet has. You have to check it out.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
And I also.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Wanted to thank you, you know, because you formed recently
for us at the Nashville Zoo, which was so much fun.
I'm sure it was very different than you I'm sure
it was very different than your normal games because when
you see some.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Flamingo, yes, right, yes, that was definitely a change of pace,
but it was it was a lot of fun. You know,
I grew up in this town. I grew up going
to that zoo and never would have imagined playing there.
And now I'm watching you know, other parents with their
kids that were my age when I used to run
around and look at the meerkats all day, and now
(12:31):
I'm I'm there performing that was that was really really neat.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Yes, yes, you really backed it out of park too.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
I have to say thank you.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
You well goes so good. Everybody just loved you there
and and you know, before we go, I do want
to mention you know, I know you're very focused on
the music, but I just wanted to kind of ask
you and bring it up. Are you doing any auditions
or are you you know, have you been doing any
acting that you wanted to talk about or is there
are you mostly mainly focused on the music side of
things for right now.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
I've still been auditioning. Uh, got a couple of things
that are possibly in the works, but you know, with
the album coming out, I need to I just needed
to really focus on it because you know, I got it.
Every single project, you know, requires one hundred and ten percent,
and so that's the thing that really required a lot
of attention. So I'm going to keep pushing and pushing
(13:17):
it until we get this tour done, you know, in
the in the fall and going into the winter, and
uh after that, maybe I'll have some more acting things
to worry about. I'm still doing some voice over work
from home things like that, but really writing a lot
working on this album and then some stuff that I
would like to to kind of pease and at least
a little bit in the fall.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Nice. You never know, guys. You got to stay tuned
Jet Journeys smart to find out what is next and
good for you. I'm so excited to see what is
next for you. I can't wait. I always love following
your journey because I always feel that you have something great,
you know, going on. And please come back on the
show anytime. Okay, You're always welcome.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
I will do it.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
Thank you so much, Thank.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
You Jet Jirk. It's my everyone. Please check it out.
It's always a pleasure getting a chance to tell to
Jedd drigsbern catch up with him because he is always
on the move, he really is, so please make sure
you check out his website and everything. Please keep up
with him and his work and the next interview I'd
love to share with all of you is my interview
is Kennedy Reid, who I'm sure you all recognize from
(14:15):
America and Idol. She's one of my favorites, so I'm
so excited that I had the chance to talk to her.
Speaker 5 (14:19):
So here we go. Please Welcome to.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
The Josie Show.
Speaker 5 (14:22):
Kennedy Reid, Hi Kennedy, Hi, thank.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
You for having me, my pleasure. Thank you so much
for joining me.
Speaker 5 (14:28):
I've been looking forward to this, me too.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
I'm so excited.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Oh, me too, because I know you have some really
exciting things happening right now. There is a debut singles
coming when hell Freeze is over. Did you write this one?
Or who wrote this one?
Speaker 5 (14:44):
This one was a really good one.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Yeah, So I did not write this one. This one
was written by the TNT songwriters. They're Tommy and Teresa
cross One. They are absolutely fabulous. But they wrote this
song and then that I would do a great job
with it, and so far we've been an awesome team together.
Speaker 5 (15:07):
Yes, we know and love them. They're amazing.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
I love yeah, me too, I love them yeah.
Speaker 5 (15:13):
Yes, Which is so exciting.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
So the first time you actually get you got to
sing this song in front of an audience. You recently
sang it for on Fire Concerts, when you opened up
for TG Shepherd.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
So did you get a positive reaction?
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Absolutely, it was definitely a positive reaction. And it's one
of those songs that is just it's up tempo, it's fun,
the words are fun, it's lighthearted, and it was definitely
a great reaction from the audience.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Oh good, I'm glad ron Ron Johnson is on Fire
Concerts who we're a friend of. He's just amazing. He
sent us the video of it and you did so
so good.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
That was great, Thank you, Thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
You're welcome. It's amazing. And will this song be available
everywhere soon?
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Actually, the song will be available on all streaming platforms soon,
hopefully at the end of this month. We're aiming for
June twenty seventh.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
Perfect. Perfect.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
I cannot wait for everyone to check out this song.
If you haven't heard it already, you're definitely going to
want to. And the new music is coming, which I'm
so excited about. Can you tell us anything about that yet?
Are you working on like a full album? What can
you tell us? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (16:24):
So, eventually the goal is to put out a full album,
but right now we you know, I have so many
fans that are wanting me to put out some original music.
So we're going to drop an EP and again that
will also be on the twenty seventh, and that will
feature two other songs and they are fabulous as well.
Those songs were also written by the Cross Lens and
(16:47):
I just could not have been blessed with any better
of songwriters. They have just been so wonderful to me.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Oh that is so nice.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Don't you just love it when you meet the right
songwriters at the right time.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
You know, Yes, it was definitely, it was definitely a blessing,
definitely a god thing because they know they know my style.
And of course, throughout this whole process, we've gotten to
know each other personally and that helps so much to
have a personal relationship as well.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Yes, and and the song when Hell Freezes Over? This
song particularly does it. Do you relate to it in
any way or tell us a little bit about the
song that made you want to record it?
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Absolutely so. Just the nature of the song, how fun
it is, is the main reason. But secondly, the song
is so relatable. I think we all have an X
that we would only take back as hell froze over,
and we know that's never gonna happen, and that song
goes on to talk about a series of events that
are never going to happen, and the girl is saying,
(17:47):
that's when I'll take you back, which is so yeah.
I think I think a lot of people can relate
to that.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
So many people can relate to that song. So I'm
I'm pretty certain that it's gonna do very well. So
I'm really looking forward to it actually releasing to the world.
I know it's going to do so so well. I
cannot wait. And you already had a billboard on the
Nashville side to kind of advertise that new music is coming.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
That has to have been so exciting to see.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
It was so exciting. It was very very cool seeing
myself up there, and like like you said, just exciting.
I think that people are going to really really like
what we're putting out.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
And for those who want to see you live and
in person, I'm sure people can go and check out
your Facebook page and see all of the upcoming dates.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
Right absolutely, I do have a website. It's Kennedy Reid
dot net and that is where you can find all
of my upcoming shows. And of course we're going to
have some merch on there as well that people can order,
and we also have a little system where you can
put your email in and it'll send you updates of where,
(18:52):
where and when I'm going to be appearing at different places.
Speaker 5 (18:57):
Perfect, so exciting.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Check out the website, everybody follower on Facebook, everywhere, Instagram,
You're all over the place, which I love. You're very
accessible to the fans, so it's very exciting. And I'm
sure you've had so many great experiences and fans from
when you were on American Idol. You're in the top twenty,
so I'm sure fans kind of followed you over from
there and are now able to follow you in your
music career right now, which is very exciting. And so
(19:20):
can you tell us a little bit about your experience
on American Idol. I'm sure with everything there's pros and cons,
I mean, and I'm sure you were able to learn
a lot as well.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Absolutely. You know, American Idol really was just the biggest
blessing in my life because I did gain my own
fan base. You know, there was a couple people that
kind of came on the show and they maybe already
had a little bit of a fan base or already
had a social media following. I came from literally nothing
I had. I think I had fifty two followers on
(19:53):
TikTok and now I have like over one hundred thousand.
So that was really cool to see people so interested
in my career and what I was going to do
with my music outside of American Idol. Because even after
I was eliminated off the show, like you said, I
had lots of people continue to follow me to this day,
(20:13):
so many wonderful fans that I earned off of the show.
And of course not only did I earn a fan base,
but I also made such good friends with everybody on
the show, especially everyone in the top twenty four. Once
you kind of make it to that finalist point, everybody
becomes like a really tight knit family, and so I
(20:34):
will definitely have friends in those people forever. I'll never
forget some of the things that I was able to
talk about with Katie and Lionel and Luke. It was
definitely a boost of confidence for me. I was being
self confidence severely before I went on the show, and
they kind of helped me gain some self worth and
(20:56):
self confidence, especially Jelly role when I was mentored by him,
it was it was just a great experience overall.
Speaker 5 (21:02):
Oh, well, I'm glad.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
I'm glad it was a great experience, and I'm I'm
you know, I'm definitely not surprised that you made some
great friendships on the show, because I feel like you
guys are all in this situation where it could be
pretty stressful.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
You know, you know, doing you know, a night after
night and and all that.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
It must be very you know, a stressful experience, especially
if it's something that you are new at and you've
never done it before. I'm live, you know, so it
must have been a really cool experience though, all in all.
And I'm so excited about, you know, all of the
great stuff that you have coming up. And I have
to ask you some more fun American Idol questions. Is
(21:39):
there a song that you did that you really loved
performing on American Idol?
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Absolutely, that's a no brainer for me. Definitely. Kind of
my breakout moment on the show was when I sang Fancy.
That was definitely my favorite performance. It was really when
I came out of my shell. When Jelly Roll mentored
me I was staring with him that I was kind
of uncertain where I wanted to go and things like that,
(22:08):
and he helped me really narrow down, like this is
what I'm meant to sing like that song was definitely
for me, especially for that round, and I feel like
I was kind of able to prove to America that
I rightfully earned my spot there in the top girl.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
Yes, Yes you did, Yes you did.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
And I think people just loved you because of your personality.
You know, you are so fun and you're just such
a sweet person. So I think that kind of resonated
with a lot of people on the show. So that
was I think, you know, so so great as well.
And is there any artists that you would love to
per form with or work with that you haven't had
the opportunity yet.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Oh my gosh. Yeah. Absolutely. There's so many artists that
I've inspired by. I absolutely love Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood,
there were even you know, people like Kelly Clarkson. Absolutely
love her, Read the Dolly, all all of those big names.
I'm so so heavily inspired by those women. And I
(23:07):
think any up and coming performers or a country artists
especially could take a little something from all of those
peoples that I just named. And of course there's so
many other legends out there that we could all take
a little note from.
Speaker 5 (23:22):
For sure, I agree, I do.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
And you know, she's literally listened all of my favorite
I could see it. I could see a song with Dolly,
I could see it. I could see it.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Oh girls, He's my biggest inspiration.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
Right, Oh my goodness, I would love that. Who do
We Gotta Write? Who do We Gotta Call?
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Right? I could see it. Listen, you would kill it.
It just seems like the sweetest person ever. You guys
would get along very well.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
So I'm hoping.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
I'm hoping that. I'm hoping that for you definitely. And
in the future, where would you like to see your
career Because I mean, you've you've had so many great experiences.
Where would you like to see your career take you?
Speaker 3 (23:59):
You know, it's not necessarily things like fame or fortune
that drives me. It's just the fact that I absolutely
love music. And if I could live a life where
I could just do music every day for the rest
of my life, I would be totally okay with that.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
You know.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
I love doing huge shows like American Idol, but you know,
I love doing the smaller venues as well, especially back
in my hometown area, those those are so special to me.
Those shows are and just just to be able to
do music for the rest of my life. That's that's
where I want to see my career go.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
Absolutely I could see it.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
I really can't. And I'm just so excited. You're just
such a wonderful artist and I can't wait for people
to be able to see your material, you know, and
see you off of American Idol, see you kind of
you know, grow as an artist yourself, and I think
you're going to do very well. And going back to
your your single when health Freeze is over. I'm such
a visual person, so I have to ask you, are
there any thoughts and maybe like a music video at
(24:58):
some point for this song because I think this this
one would be a good one for it.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Absolutely, yeah, I would say that's definitely something that's gonna
end up happening.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Oh, that would be so much fun and fun for
you to be able to create because you'll be able
to put your own like spin on it and stuff.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
Be a fun video to.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Make for sure.
Speaker 5 (25:19):
Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
And another fun question because I see you performing and
you are just such a great performer. You really do
very well in that in that area.
