Welcome to Josie Show. My guest Britney Kellogg, Hi, how
are you? I am doing great. Thank you so much
for joining me, Thank.

Speaker 5 (01:49):
You for having me.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
So excited to be here.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Oh I'm so excited to have you. I am a fan.
We just love your music and I can't wait to
talk all about it. But before we do, let's go
back a little bit, and I really want to talk
about how you first realized that music was what you
wanted to do. When did you realize this was something
the past that you wanted to go on?

Speaker 5 (02:10):
So when I was sick, I went to a Johnny
Cash and June Carter Cash Foster, and I feel so
incredibly lucky that I got to experience that. Yes, but
I looked at my grandmother like right when we left,
and I remember, like it.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Was yesterday, I said, I am doing.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
That when I grow up, And that was it. I
instantly started pursuing my dream from that exact moment.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
That's amazing, and you're very lucky. I would have loved
to have seen a combat concert. Oh my god, Oh
my goodness. Well I can see how that can inspire you,
I'm telling you, and I absolutely love the debut album.
She's come along way. What can the listeners expect with
this album tell us a little bit about you know,
some of the songs that we should expect.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
Absolutely, so this album is kind of a compilation of
just my story, my life. It starts with She's come
a long way and kind of details just how far
it really have come, and then it ends with thank
you Johnny and June. So kind of like the beginning
of my career with that concert and all the in between,
so like being a mom and issues in real life

(03:19):
in marriage, and then also like fun songs about my personality,
like retail therapy, I Love my neighbors, just songs that
kind of like showcase the funny side of me and
kind of who I am.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I love that. I love that and I'm so so glad,
you know, and happy when artists are able to kind
of use their real life experiences and put into song
the conspire others who may be going through the same situation,
and you have some really great songs on there. I
seen the Visualizer not that long ago for retail therapy
and I fell in love.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
Music is my biggest goal, I will say, it's you know,
we have so much music about young life and you know,
the party like style and.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
The truths and all of that.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
But I as a grown woman with three kids, married
and it really isn't a lot of music that kind
of talked about the hard times of marriage and being
a mom and being a single mom. And I really
want people that have been through what I've been through
to kind of feel a little left alone in what

(04:26):
they're going through by listening to.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Six absolutely, and I think you know the reason why
another single which has been doing very well. This mess
every parent can relate to, you know what I mean.
So it's such a great song and I love it.
I love it, so I love it so much, and
I hope everyone checks out all of your music. But
going back to She's Come a Long Way, there's also

(04:49):
a music video for this one, and it premiered on
people dot Com.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
What I know, right, that's crazy?

Speaker 2 (04:55):
What was that like filming that video?

Speaker 5 (04:57):
That video is so special? You really wanted to find
women in like just that has come a long way
or that has been through it, or that are inspiring,
And it was such an honor to be, you know,
to stand alongside so many incredible women, including my mom
and daughter that has just come a long way in life,

(05:21):
and it was just super inspiring. For me to film it,
and I hope it's inspiring to watch too.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
It really is. It's so inspiring, and I hope everybody
checks it out. They can really check out all of
your videos, your visualizers, just everything, your lyrics videos all
on your YouTube page. So I hope everyone goes there
and they can they can find you.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
So so too.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah it's awesome and you know, I could rung. But
as I was talking your Facebook Gus, I seen the
coming student situation. It looked like you were filming for
an upcoming music video. Correct me if I'm wrong. Is
there anything to tell us about it? If you can?

Speaker 5 (05:57):
Sounds a music video for Hearing Go, which is a
song about a relationship where one of the parties has
a foot in and a foot out. It's kind of
one of those just challenging situations, and we filmed the
video for it, and I'm I should have the video
tonight to kind of like look over and make sure
everything looks good, which I'm really excited about.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
So oh, I can't wait. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
That's a mystic. I love that. I think everyone's going
to love it. And I wanted to ask you if
you have any other you know music that you are
working on or do you are you are you doing
a lot of writing or do you also co write
as well?

Speaker 5 (06:35):
I do co write, So I'm actually it's funny. I
reached out to the Autumn McIntyre who co produced this
album and co wrote a lot of the tracks on
the album.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
But we are.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
Actually you know, obviously, I'm these songs to me are
not super brand new. They're a couple of years old.
I know they're new to everyone else. So we recorded
this album about a year and a half ago, and
so I have been writing since, but also planning several
weeks of upcoming rights as well to get more music

(07:07):
out to everybody.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
There is so much more of Britney Kellalogg.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
I'm so exciting.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Yes, I'm looking pared to it and can you please
give out your website and also you're all over social
networking sites as well.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
Absolutely, I am very lucky. My name is belled uniquely enough,
so all of my social media is just under Afritney Kelloggs,
YouTube's Afritney Kelloggs, Spotify, everything is on their afrite kellogg
which makes it very easy.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
It's crazy. I love that. I love when that happens,
and please everybody check out the website first and foremost.
You could see everything and upcoming shows as well. So
you're going to want to see some live, live shows.
And I love how open you are, you know, talking
about being a mom and being in the music industry.
So what is the best advice that you have for
moms out there who want to pursue music but may

(07:54):
feel like they can't or that may be too difficult
to do both?

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Absolutely?

Speaker 5 (08:00):
I mean, I know there are several people in my
journey that have been not super supportive and have been like,
you know, you really should just pursue want of being
a mom and focus on that. But I would say
to that mom, like you are better for Your kids
are better for it.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
You are better for it.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
I know I'm a better mom when I come home
after a show or being on the road. It's just
my cup is full, and I never wanted to look
back and regrets not doing.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
What I love.

Speaker 5 (08:31):
Even though sometimes it may be hard, it may be explosive,
you might have to you know, not everybodysitter's door to
make it work. But yeah, your kids are going to
be better for it watching you pursue their dreams and
somedays they'll look back and pursue theirs as well, because
they know that no matter what it looks like, or
what your circumstances are, or how hard it is, and

(08:52):
you can totally make it well said.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
And what I love is it looks like your your
son is so proud of you. You could tell because this
is video on your Facebook page where you were playing
a song for him for the first time and you
could just see how proud that he is of you.
And so it really just shows you know how inspirational
it is for a kids to watch their mom do
what they love. It's so important.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
You're welcome. It's very very important. And do you have
any upcoming shows that you could tell us about on
air maybe if people want to come and check you
out see.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
If my choice suggles on my website. Brittany tell us
that mom that upcoming shows August ninth, Las Vegas at
Stummies and then August sixteen's I am in Kobe's, Ohio
in a park, free concerts. So it's in love the
Enemies August very excited.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Very exciting. Go and check her out, everybody, I promise
you will not regret it. And I have some fun
questions for you if you're ready.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
He yes, I'm ready.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Yes, I love me some fun questions. So I want
to see what was the experience like the very first
time he stepped into a studio. Do you remember that
first moment?

Speaker 1 (09:54):
I do absolutely. I was seven years ago.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Oh my goodness, so cute song.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
I like Mage s Y never singing that song.

Speaker 5 (10:07):
And it was just like I felt like I was
at home. You never felt like nervous or anything to me.
It was just this little studio in Vancouver, Washington, and
I absolutely loved the experienced so much, such.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
A great experience. I love that. And then the next
one question I have for you, have you ever had
any on stage embarrassing moments? You can recall anything that
just didn't go as planned.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
I mean I've had a million that didn't go as
a plan. But I think the sipper opening for Lee
Brice one time, and if somebody in the front road
told me that my snipper was undone.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Oh schnap wardrobe.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
Mel from this interesting.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yes, Oh my godness, I have trust coming now. That's amazing.
What an experience.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
It's my favorite. He's so sweet.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Yes, that's awesome. Well see you when you're live. You
never know what's gonna happen, but you you just professional
all with this, exactly, exactly, just roll with the punches,
which you did. I love that, And I wanted to
also ask you where, anywhere in the world, where would
you like to perform? What's the stage that you'd love
to perform at? Oh, you were prepared, You're like, I

(11:11):
already got your question, don't mess me.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
I am you know, obviously one of them.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
I guess honored in country means, and again, hopefully I'm
gonna I am going to think absolutely.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
You got to put into the universe. I do believe
that absolutely, and I think I'm pretty sure it will happen,
that's for sure. The ret you're going at, I just
I'm so excited for the future and seeing what is
next for you, and I could see a lot of
really cool stages and grandal Opry being one of them
for sure.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
So thank you.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Definitely, definitely. And then the fun question that I'm sure
you have never had asked to you ever, So if
you could choose any animal in the wild, what animal
best personality wise do you feel suit to you Oh.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
My gosh, that's a tough You're right, I don't and
I love it.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Holy goodness.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
I think maybe like a hummingbird.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Oh cute, I live.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
I feel like I move that very.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Yes, great answer, right right, that's a good one though.
And then the last question I have for you, is
there an artist that you would love to perform with,
or collab with or write with that you haven't had
the opportunity yet, So.

Speaker 5 (12:25):
I would say Kirk harm with, Like, one of my
biggest dreams is to perform Josie Love You with Riva
Maxtirn and the first casset Tide I ever own here
and I've just that song is like a big part
of my childhood. As far as writing collaborating Miranda Lambert,
I feel like her styles is so similar in our
like pitchy, funny writing, uh huh, so just like the

(12:49):
you know, emotional writing as well. So I would say
writing collaboration Miranda, for sure.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
Absolutely, you literally nailed both of my favorites. Watching I
will it wouldn't fince. I will be I will be listening,
that's for sure. And we just thank you are amazing,
Thank you so much for joining me, and please come
back anytime.

Speaker 5 (13:08):
So grateful.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Oh, anytime. Brittany Kellog. Everyone, please make sure you go
and check out all for music. And one last time,
can you please give out your website.

Speaker 5 (13:16):
Yes, Britney Kellogg dot com.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Check it out.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
I had such a great time getting the opportunity to
talk to Britney Kellalog. She's an incredible music artist. Please
make sure you check her out on her website that
you just mentioned, and of course all over social networking sites,
and also find her music on all the places that
you are able to stream and buy your music today.
So please make sure you go and check her out.
All right, So my next interviews with amber Lynn Browning.

(13:40):
It was great catching up with her.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
So here you go. Please welcome to the Josie Show.
Amberlyn Browning. Hello, Hello, hey, hey, I'm so excited to
have you back. Thank you so much for doing this
with me.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Yay, I am so scoffed. Yes, we have a lot
going on. I want to just spread the news a
lot on the music front right now.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Oh well, I'm so glad I have heard a little
bit about what is in store, you know, tourn all
of that. But before we really dig in, and we will,
we will we will talk about it all. First, I
want to talk about your latest album, which has been
doing really well in nineteen seventy seven, trans and the
Sun Studio session. What can listeners who have not heard

(14:24):
this album yet? First off, you need to for those
who have not heard it, what can they expect on
this album and the songs that will be on here
as well?

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Okay, so lots of surprises to start with. This thing
is dampacked full fourteen numbers. This record is just full
of all sorts of not only just traditional outlaw country,
but also some rock and roll and genuine authentic Memphis

(14:58):
rock and roll. This was recorded at the Sun's studios
in Memphis, and we're very proud of that because we
were able to Before I go into that, I'll just
say the songs are chock full of surprises because the
listeners can expect a little variation if they like rock

(15:20):
and roll, if they like country. There's a little for everything.
And there's some ballads too, some country ballads. So a
lot of this is traditional, but as well as some
serious Texas flair and some Memphis flair and everything that
just kind of comes from my.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Roots right right, And so it really is. It really
is kind of a story of you really encompasses everything
that is so great about you and the music that
you love. But also I think it's great because you
have music for everybody, you know what I mean, whether
you like ballads, whether you like country, whether you like ala.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
You know.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
So I think that's right.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Yeah, And this is something where there is a ton
of originals. I really wanted a lot of originals that
we worked really hard on on this record. But there
is three cover songs that we were super excited to
do at some studios, namely san Quintin because it's reminiscent

(16:22):
of Johnny Cash in his iconic recording there. Doing san
quinton There was amazing as well as a whole lot
of shaking going on. Obviously Jerry Lee Lewis who recently passed,
so this is it makes it more special. Also a
little surprised in there. Charlie Daniels The Devil Went Down

(16:43):
to Georgia is on there, and that is amazing because
our fiddler Tim Watson is a fiddler for he was
tear Me Why Next fiddler for years and years and
he also is Kid Rocks and my drummer him as

(17:06):
well as my pianists and my steel player. We all
played together amazing and did it justice in my opinion.
But the most special part, I think for the cover
songs in particular at some studios, was the fact that

(17:30):
jam Van Eaton was the original drummer for Jerry Lee
Lewis's original hits like Cool Water Shaking and all of
those first ones that came out, like his first records.
He was a drummer on them at some studios, And
when I went down to record this there he's still

(17:52):
there and he drummed on our album, and we are
more than honored to have had him on there and
has since actually a few months ago, passed away. So
it is with heavy hearts we are we're we're nevering him,
but we're also feel extremely lucky, extremely lucky to have

(18:15):
it's almost historical on this record, and it just came
out and I hope everybody loves it, so I know
they will.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
I know they will. You've had incredible group of musicians
join you on this album, which I think is amazing,
and of course being in Sun Studio helps a lot
as well. I mean, that's amazing being able to record
in Sun Studio, you know, and I want to ask you,
what have fans been saying about this album so far?
He's been having, you know, some great positive reactions.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Yes, you know what came as a surprise is people
grab a hold onto uniqueness, but they also grab hold
on to newness and something that they haven't heard before,
maybe a different I was like introducing a new genre.
When you work really hard, you want to you know,

(19:05):
I don't want to sound the same as everybody, and
I think that's something that people can appreciate about us
and me. Also, what surprised me immediately within the first
couple of weeks it was charting on Billboard Top one
hundred outlau country Albums on AC so I was so

(19:28):
excited about that. That one was a big one. People
are delving in and they're lucky little this little bit
and kind of seeing how we are more than just country,
we're more than rock and roll. We kind of all
of it, and it brings it back to the history
of music in my opinions, and a lot of that
is combined the blues, the country, the rock and roll

(19:48):
all together, which we're all very much a part of.
And bringing back the outlaw country encompasses that and That's
why I like to say I'm steady in that, bringing
the appreciation and the history, but also keeping it alive

(20:09):
today and obviously relative to today. So a lot of
my songs, my written songs, are relative to today. But
also you could say, maybe it sounds like a song
that was done in the seventies, right right.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
Absolutely, I love that. I love how you I love
how you did that and you incorporated that, and I
think that's what a lot of people are appreciating so far,
and I hope more people after this interview, you know,
check it out as well. But I think it's I
think it's just so wonderful what you did. And I
want to talk about the title track nineteen seventy seven Transfam.
What was the inspiration behind in this song?

Speaker 1 (20:45):
Okay, that son's that funny one? Yes, it's actually on.
If people do see the album cover, they will see
a transdam right there, and I'm in front of it
and in the middle of Texas somewhere in the early seventies.
The transdam the nineteen seventy seven in particular, was the

(21:06):
transam in the movie Smoking in the Smoking in the Bandage.
So that along with all of the fun all the
dukes of hazard stuff, all of the outlook countries that
kind of flew out of that time, and all the
music that flew out of Texas kind of Lilli and Whale,
and they originated there. The Texas scene, deVie ray Vaughn

(21:28):
is going to be We're going to be doing Texas Flood.
A little hint at the future. We're gonna be doing
a Texas Flood. Has a lot to do with our tour,
but a single coming out after our tour, and he
is definitely often roots there anyhow, Yeah, the transam is

(21:49):
reminiscent of Smoking in the Bandit, but the entire album
is named that because it's fun. The songs are fun.
It comes straight out of the roots of that. I
love that.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
It's so good. It's so good, and I wanted to
ask you, you know, what does your songmering places usually
consist of? How does it work for you? Because I
know many songwriters have different techniques, and I felt like
this was a great question in particular because you did
write a lot of the songs on this album.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
Yes, well, most of the time, it starts out for me,
I'm an idea person. If I have an idea, I
always kind of just see it through to fruition, like
if it starts somewhere. A lot of times I start
with a title and nothing else and an idea and

(22:34):
then I kind of pointed out in my head and
write as I go along, a little guitar in my hands,
that sort of thing. And each song is different. Sometimes
I start just with a MEESSM but music and then
add in just start singing improv you know.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Yeah, yeah, definitely.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
It just depends on the feeling and the finding of
the song and the mood. But the written part. A
lot of times I will really feel the need to
write a song about things important and it needs to
come out and it needs to be so very real
and so very authentic so the listener can grab onto
that and if it helps them in any way, if

(23:12):
anything helps either heal, help or help wout another just
through something, then I feel I've done my job right.
And I don't like to take extra time in my
song ready for that reason, because I think that's why
we listen to music. Sometimes. Yeah, it's not just an escape,
it's not just for fine. Sometimes it really really helps

(23:35):
people do something. And in the drilled today that is
I think more more important more than ever.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Yeah, I definitely agree. I mean, that's what music truly
is about. And you do you hit all of the
you hit all of the chords there, you know, with
all of what music is about, and you definitely do
a justiceon do what it is and so you're welcome
and so you did things a little bit on the future.
So I want to talk a little bit about any

(24:05):
what you can tell us, because I know stuff is
still there is surprise, ye, but I will say, yeah,
what do you tell us?

Speaker 1 (24:14):
This week we are doing some of the tour announcements,
not all, we're doing it a little by little, but
the tour itself is in Texas in the fall in October,
and we have some major venues going and some very
historic and well loved that means that we are more

(24:36):
than honor to be a part of and play at.
And anyhow, we are very excited too, and we're revn
up for this tour this fall. We we're heading there
to Texas and we're going to be playing the album,
We're going to be selling the album, and we're going
to be had a lot of fun as well as

(24:56):
there's going to be some live recordings. So it's going
to be supper fun and on top of that some surprises.
We're going to be shooting some live music videos at
some very historic places there in Texas.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
Okay, that is exciting.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
You know.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
I love I love your music videos. So that is
going to be incorporated within the tour. That's neat.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
I like that. Wow, Yeah, that.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
Is gonna be really really cool. Okay, so you're gonna
be doing that. You're welcome, so you're gonna be doing that.
That's That's definitely gonna keep you busy. Let's be honest, stories.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
We will be very very busy. And it's on that
you know, it's but it's all a part of it.
And when you have a passion for it and you
love to play, I believe that the listeners, the fans, audience,
whoever can see and feel that, and then that's the
most important part.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Absolutely, that's the most important part. And so I love that.
I'm so excited for you in that aspect, you know,
with the tour and some really cool music videos that
are gonna be coming out within the tour, which I
is really cool music. Do you have any other maybe
some new some writing or maybe are you cludding with
anybody any music you can tell us about anything.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Yes, we have, there is some new songs. There's also
going to be the Stevie ray Vaughn, who is my
