(00:00):
How are you welcome to the Gameof Thrones with Jay Jack and Nick.
My name is Jay, I'm Nick, and I got dead. Let's start
over. How are you welcome toGame of Thrones which Jay Jack and Nick.
(01:02):
My name is Jay, I'm Nick, and I got bed pan duty
and to the show. See Jack, you said you don't know if you
could be plenty. That was agreat pun. There you go. But
you know this is the seventh season, right, you said a bedpan duty.
But but you know this is theseventh season, and there's been a
(01:23):
lot of gross things in Game ofThrones. We've seen heads, people de
capitated, arms chopped off. Yeah, it's it's just gross and exactly,
and this had to be the grossestscene. And it was literally I'm glad
I wasn't eating. I go,okay, I get it. I get
(01:44):
it. Like the soup is justlike the poop. I get it.
It's it's it's I don't know ifit was just because it was a gross
thing, but like it, Ifeel like that segment went on for like
twenty minutes. It was like ahalf of the episode. I think was
that segment with the poop and thesoup. Yeah, I just was like,
you know, it's it's I feltI felt like Jamie did when the
guy said I got two hands.Anyway, I like to know because it
(02:07):
was such a neat time scene. It was kind of like a peak Floyd's
money. You know, I hadthat splash splash slash. You know.
It was like I was like,oh, it was just like pink Floyd's
money. There you go. Yeah, every time every time I hear money,
I want to throw up, yousee. I need to have like
was it seven four or seven nine? Whenever it was a baseline coming boom
(02:30):
baby boom boom boom boooo. Howokay if that's your job, I mean
everyone has a job, you know, but if you're in that situation,
and how do you eat after that? I mean, I just I don't
know. Well, if you know, I think Sam did look a little
(02:50):
thinner. So especially when the poop, you know, match the soup.
I'm sorry it broke. It wasthe poop match the soup. We're starting
out season whatever it is of Gameof Thrones with j Jack and Nick on
all right note right now, um, yes we are here. Sorry,
there was not a preview episode. We were trying. We did want to
(03:12):
do one. But you know, schedules being what they may. If you
if you look at the Facebook page, it was clearly you took the blame.
Jay, Well, yeah, somebody, somebody as usual, threw me
under the bus. But that's okay. We are here. Well you got
you gotta be first on Facebook, and you weren't there, so Nick and
Nick did not. I think Nickliked it too, so I so I
think Nick confirmed it. As longas not under the bus, I'm happy.
(03:38):
But yes, uh, the Gameof Thrones is back with its first
of two kind of shorter seasons toclose out the show. Um and this
one has a lot to talk about, so we will definitely dissect that in
Game of Thrones recap. Before weget into any of that fun stuff,
I want to thank people that makethis show possible, our patrons over at

name twice on each podcast. No, Jack, would you take bedpan duty
for if somebody donated a million dollars, I would, well, actually,
I don't you know bedpan duty? That was just extreme. That was just
(04:40):
like comes medieval bedpan duty. It'sworse all right, No more beans?
Where we're done with the beans? You know if I was if I had
bedpan duty, I'd literally go findthe beans and toss them in a river
somewhere. Really upbrus diet from nowon, Guys fibrous. I don't know
(05:00):
what happened to the beans. Theyfloated away somewhere. Oh man, um,
but this is why why do youhave to scrub it so hard?
It was cash and he's like, you know, he had gloves, so
you know he's not just going therebare handed, which is good. What
are they feeding these guys anyway? But any who, um, all of
(05:20):
our can you buy those bad panson Amazon? I'm sure at some point
they will be available as long asyou're drones Citadel bad Pans. But all
of our podcasts our listeners supported,so thank you to all of our listeners,

listeners. Are I get the punthere, Jay, we stink? We're
talking about bad pans? I getit exactly. You know, if if
we didn't already have a title forthis, we could have called it Lincoln
Logs. Hey, I'd have beenhappy with Lincoln Logs. But episode eight
(06:12):
point one or sorry, seven pointone Dragonstone. So let's jump into this
game of Thron's recap. Are youready? Action? Jackson? And Nick?
Ready? All right? Nick takeit away? All right? So
he opens with a coal opener, which is really interesting. It just went
straight into Walter Fray toasting to hismen, and were you guys like me
(06:33):
kind of for a split second, like are we still on flashbacks? Like
I didn't? I was. Iwas spoiled on it. H Okay,
well I didn't. I didn't watchit. I didn't watch it till after
ten and I went I went onFacebook real quick, and I go,
really, dude, but come on, you know the rule. Why'd you
go on Facebook? I know thatI went to go I was gonna go
play poker. Well, I waswaiting for, you know, because my
(06:56):
wife was watching something side to wait. That's on you. I'm sorry,
you know, hey, I didn'tblame, but come on the first scene,
the first scene, you spoil everybodyagain. You know, it's a
simple rule. Don't go on Facebook. I know, I know it's true,
but you know, I mean,like, I mean, I think
like a lot of people. Thoughwithin three seconds after I realized it actually
was, the episode was like,oh I put it together. I was
(07:17):
like, oh, that's are youimmediately like that's a I don't know.
How are you grew two or threefeet in height? Was she standing on
like a chair or something. That'swhat I was kind of picturing in my
head because then she kind of steppeddown. Maybe I'm just projecting, okay,
but I mean that's the only thing. I was like, Okay,
I buy the whole face thinks we'veseen her do it. I was like,
(07:38):
how does she grow? How didshe get that tall? Okay,
maybe she's standing on a chair orsomething. But then you think she thinks,
but you do think that like thedaughter or maybe his tenth wife or
whoeber the little girl was, uhwould have been like why are you standing
on that chair? But she butthe wife really, if you ever knows
all his wives, they really don'tlook at him. It's true. They
(08:00):
just looked like they just looked likethey're miserable, which they probably are,
and just and she did and shejust said you're not worthy of the wine.
Well, no woman's gonna have awine. Ah well, kudos kudos
David Bradley, the actor pays Walderfrag as he did. He did a
great job because it he kind ofhad some of Aria's expressions, Like it
was really it was really well donein terms of the scene. Well it
(08:20):
was, oh yeah, I meanyou could tell immediately that she didn't know
waldra Fre I mean because his speechpatterns were different. That's that's how you
could tell with something different, becausewhy would Walter Fray be so nice because
he's like family means everything to me, and you're like, Walter Fray would
not say that. So yeah, that's how you can kind of put tune
together. It's Aria. Plus hewouldn't invite anybody's back for a celebration anyway.
(08:41):
No, because he was a cheap, cheap guy. I mean because
they even at the Red wedding, everything that was there was cheap, because
I mean it was Warning's like, why should I give him good food?
I want to kill him all anywayexactly. But anyway, Like so he
gives uh Aria slash Walter Fray givesthe toast to his men, and it
starts off all good, you know, like you know, you're the ones
that you know helped me defeat myenemies. Yeah, you know, and
(09:05):
like you know you helped me slaughterthe Starks. Yeah. And then he's
like, yeah, cheer up tobutchering a pregnant woman with their babe and
cutting the throne of a mother offive. Yeah. It's like and it's
like wow. He starts insulting them, and the room starts to get quiet,
and then you start to see it, like the men start to kind
of grab their bellies and they realizesomething's wrong, and then that and then
(09:26):
he's just like, that was yourmistake. You should have ripped them all
out root and stern. I mean, stim you know, talking about the
Starks and then they start dying andthen that's I mean, there's a lot
of really good one liners in thisepisode, and I think this was the
first one of them. All wasjust you know, leave one wolf alive
and the sheep are never safe andthat's when they all start keeling over.
(09:46):
And then Aria removes the masks hermy ask of Walter Fray looks at the
surviving girl. Another great line. It's like, you know, when people
ask you what happened to her?Tell them the north their members, tell
them, Yeah, tell them thatwinter came for house Fray and then she
and then she dropped the mic.Yeah, just dropped it. Left.
But essentially this was all of thethe important phrase. So basically she wiped
(10:11):
out the entire family in one togo and that's just awesome, you know.
Then que credits well, um,it's it's uh. It doesn't speak
well of their intelligence, so theykind of fell for that so easily,
Um, which you know, youknow, it's probably bad than I do,
Nick. But are they're not wellknown for their intelligence or their ability?
(10:35):
No, they're not. I meanhe's even even um Jamie said it,
you know in last uh in thelast episode of last season because you
know, Walter Fray was talking abouthow great their houses were and everything,
and he kind of looked at him, he said, you know, we
gave you this because we want, you know, wanted a good ally.
If if if you constantly lose itand we have to keep up go up
to reconquer it, what good areyou to us? You know because basically
(10:58):
just calling them incompetent. And it'sthe same thing as like you see it
too in the Siege of River Runlast season where Walter frac and his uh
his sons down there to capture theBlackfish and and brought ed Demure down there,
and you know, like they didn'tset up proper defenses. The Laster's
road ride in you know, Brandonare going like, wow, if we
were your enemy, we'd be upyour butt right now, you know,
Like I mean it's proven that they'reincompetent. Yeah. Um, And is
(11:22):
this is this the first time we'vehad a cold open to the show,
Like I can't remember another cold openat you know, people probably emailing as
I said, but I Timody,I didn't I don't recall him. I
believe they didn't. They want withIan McShane last season, right, I
can't recall. I'm sure, I'msure there's there's probably I'm sure there's been
a few, you know, likewith White Walkers and stuff where there's always
(11:43):
been something. I'm sure there's beena couple of cold opens before. But
still pretty pretty cool way to openthe season. Yeah, but I think
it's probably the first colopen for thefirst episode. Maybe was a Circe's dream.
Was that one a cold open orwas that after the Actually maybe I
think that was a cold open.Yeah, that way isn't that much,
(12:03):
but well to be you know,I guess, you know, maybe a
cold open because winter is here.Another fun Oh see you doubt yourself,
Jack, never doubt yourself. Sopost credits, we start with a wide
shot of snow drifting and then outof the background, h see see Yeah,
(12:28):
and then a cloud of snow startsapproach and gets thicker and thicker and
thicker, and we see it's theWhite Walkers and a giant army of the
dead. They're marching with giants. And that's what was interesting because I was
curious about your guy's opinion on thisbecause the last thing we see we see
two giants walking along with it,and then it zooms in to the eyeball
(12:48):
up one of the giants, andthen it you see cuts to Brand with
him opening his eyes. So you'rekind of wondering was Brand working into that
giant at that moment? Oh yeah, I kind of I kind of expected
to see um hod Or amongst theHorde. You know, I kind of
agree. I think that there possiblycould be a zombie. You know,
(13:11):
we don't do we want it?Do we want a zombie horde Or?
I don't think I wanted to know, but because to me, it seemed
because they showed the previously on theyhad the scene with hode Or hold the
door. Um, So I waslike, that's why they would show,
because they're gonna show hode Or nowis like part of the you know,
the Dead Army. But they didn't, so maybe maybe this will happen.
But in that scene, that's whatI thought, we would kind of pan
(13:31):
in to see poor horde Or asa as a d I don't want to
see it. I think it wouldjust be really hard to watch that,
just because I mean, because hordeOr surfered enough as it is, it's
like wow, like just just no, I hope they don't go there is
this game of thrones. They don'tcare about your emotions. They're gonna call
(13:52):
I get that, but it's justlike I don't I don't want to see
it. But he is dead tomean, you know, unless he's not
like John snow h so uh soBrand comes out the visions and they're at
the gate front at the wall infront of Castle Black and uh the gates
(14:16):
opening up, and Mirror Read explainsto him that you know, they're not
wildlings and they wish to enter, and then Ed's like, how can we
trust you? How do we know? And then like Brand just drops some
knowledge on him and as uh,you were at the fifth of the First
Man you read hard home, we'veseen the Nights King and he's after all
of us, and it's just kindof like, okay, they can come
(14:37):
in howl. Does Brand now aboutforty? I know, he kind of
he kind of went with the Waltroute when lost is just and then a
year a couple of years he justshot up. But you know, you
could you could trust us? Yeah, yeah, aren't you like twelve?
I know? But uh yeah,you know it's just it's a game up
(15:01):
throwing thing. I like how Ido like how the kids have all aged
and nobody questions it, Well, you know, what's what's really weird.
It's like, I'm sure Jay knowsbecause Jay like younger women. Um,
you know, like Jay's probably lookingat Sanzinari now I'm be like, man,
(15:22):
they're hot, you know. Butthen he goes back and watched season
one and he's all like, oh, man, like I feel guilty.
No, maybe he doesn't. Maybestop it now. Oh, we're just
kidding. It's a rabble cast joke. If you gonna go back and listen
to Ramblecast. I think it's likewhat third or fourth episode. Yeah,
we're talking about eleven off of StrangerThings. Ranger Things. Yeah. Yeah.
(15:48):
So the next scene cuts to winterFell and it's actually a fairly long
scene, but I liked it.Um John Snows advising all the Northern lords
that they need to start searching andmining any place that can have dragon glass
because they've discovered now that white thedragon glass kills and defeats whitewalkers. Uh.
They all agree, and then secondlyhe calls for anyone ages ten to
(16:10):
sixty to begin drilling daily to continueto fight. Uh Lord Glover Kind of
stands up and just like, yeah, it's about time we train these boys
of Summer how to fight. Andthen John's like, not just boys,
we can't defend the North with justhalf the population, to which Glover kind
of starts up Jack. But thenthe fan favorite Lady Mormon out of nowhere.
(16:32):
I mean, I just love thiswoman. I would, like I
said to you guys earlier, likeI want Lady Mormon to be queen.
Everyone else can die. I wouldfollow Lady Mormon. Lady Mormon could run
against Trump in twenty twenty, Iwould vote for her. I know she's
a big fictional character, but Ilove this lady. She put him in
his place? Did for sure?Because I just love it. It's just
like I think she put Trump inhis place. Yeah, absolutely. Can
(16:55):
you imagine like he'd say something likelow energy, just like wow, okay,
all right, I quit, Iquit, I quit. Uh.
So the Little Mastress is great, but like you're saying, because she's so
convincing, oh yeah, like Iforget. There's an episode last season where
she didn't even have a line.She's just on I mean, she's the
(17:15):
horse and she just looks on thehorse. She's just looking Stern into the
camera. Nailed it. I mean, like I was like, I don't
care what she's getting paid, youneed to double triple it, just because
like her facial expression is everything shedoes is just superb. But anyway,
so she tells, you know,Glove, he she's, I'm not gonna
(17:37):
be sitting knitting while you men fightfor me, you know, and she's,
I'm just as much as northern asyou are. And then he starts
to speaking, and she was andI don't need your permission, and it's
just like, damn, I'm okaywith the female doctor. Who uh oh.
(17:59):
Anyway, So but like I likedit because you see, like John
Santa and Davos all just kind ofsmiling to themselves, like how strong lady
Mormon is. It's like, wedon't even have to talk, like this
woman does half our work for us, um and then how long until she's
killed off? Though I hope.I mean, she's not a character in
the books, so I think thatthey kind of just I think people they
(18:21):
liked her enough in her one episodethey're like, we got to bring this
girl back and write her in.But but like like we were saying earlier,
we like a character. That personis dead. I think that I
think she'll make it to the end. All right, We'll see, we'll
see. I mean there's I thinkall the main characters will pretty much be
dead by the end of the show, but not all of them. There
(18:41):
maybe a couple of survivors. ButI think, you know, she's a
side character, so I think shewill probably make it. All right,
Let's hope though, Let's hope. So, um, what about Santa Santsa?
Did we see her going against Johnsnow eventually? Well, that's kind
of what I That's kind of whatI was teasing it. Well, that
that's kind of what they they showat the end of this well between the
(19:03):
break, like you know, becausethey're they're inside the hall and then they
cut to the outside. But ifyou notices, okay, I'll just kind
of skip to it. But likeyou know, like John and Um sands
to start to argue amongst themselves whilein this council about what should we do,
because like they're talking about how thewall is they're really their only defense
right now between the dead and theliving, and John says, you know,
(19:26):
we've got to if the wall falls, we've got to fortify these sports,
and then that's where they start toargue. It is like who's going
to be in charge of them? And John and sands a disagree because she
wants it to be new families.Joh wants it to be the same old
families that betrayed them because the childrenshouldn't suffer their father's mistakes. But this
is where like you see, yousee the opportunity to the like if you
(19:47):
look at the cut toos to thelittle finger here he is seeing the cracks
right here that this is an opportunityto possibly get what he wants, you
know, because he wants Sands thathe wants to be king. If he
can somehow, I'll undermine John. And Lisa's just me thinking. But you
know if if if he can somehowundermine John, uh, maybe he can
(20:08):
finally get Sanza and be in chargeof all this because they need him,
you know, they need the Knightsof the veil Um. But that's what
saying. But you know it's arookie mistake on Sanza's Um part that you
don't disagree in front of your underlings. You know, you have to be
united front when you when you're theleader, and she should have watched Godfather
One exactly. Uh, but youknow anyway that but the Umbers and the
(20:34):
car Starts pledge the loyalty again. So you know John did good that he
got the respect of all of allthe northern leaders that you know, the
war that was just fought is behindthem. The only important war now is
between the dead against the dead.Uh. Then you know I'm saying,
it cuts to little Finger kind didhis little smirk, but then it cuts
to outside John and Sanza are arguingit was in charge. Um John just
(20:59):
says, don't question me in frontof everyone. And of course Santa I
don't think she's kind of being alittle thick headed, but she is open
minded. But it's the fact thatshe's I think she's so used to everyone
not taking her seriously that she's tryingto serve herself, which is good.
But he's trying to little Finger.Little Finger planet that seed last season where
(21:19):
he was like, you know, the bastard they're naming you know, when
you're an actual stark, you know, worrying the queen. So it's it's
little Finger playing his games as usual, right, And I think I mean,
as long as nothing comes between thetwo of them, I think it
will work out. And that's whatthat's what you're worried about. That whole
scene to me was that. Imean, though they did get to some
(21:40):
good points, that whole scene wasjust showing the division between Sanza and John.
Even when she got the note,he got the message right that a
Sarcy sent. You know, Sansawas taking it serious. And John's like,
we can't worry. They're not gonnacome marching in the snow. They're
they're they're spring fighters. There's noway they're going to come in. But
I will say I also I alsoworry that John is maybe making similar mistakes
(22:04):
to it led him to being youknow, mutinized against Um, where you
know he's not He's he gets laserfocused on one thing Um and he's not
paying attention to the other enemies thatsurround him, right right, right,
I agree, But you know it, Sanza makes a good point though,
(22:26):
because she sees that that he's likened. You know, Sanza says,
like, stop trying to be ned. Don't undermine these people are dead.
They made mistakes. They made mistakes, so they their heads. You need
to listen to people be smarter thanthem, and so them. That's kind
of well, and then the ravencomes and of course Sarcy's being Searcy like,
come Ben to knee, Okay, all right, I'll do it.
(22:48):
Okay, well but yeah you cansee that though where exactly like what you're
saying, Jack, you know,John is under underestimating Searcy, and sanzas
like, no, you need totake her seriously because she's seen her in
action and we've seen with Shooter stuffthat John hasn't seen, you know,
her blowing up the sept and killingeveryone. She is. You can't underestimate
(23:10):
Sarcy because she's crazy. Yeah, and Sanson, like you said, she
knows it, crazy like a fox. Okay, cut to King's landing and
speak of the Devil. You haveSearcy walking over one second real quick?
Do we talk about this happened laterthe little Finger and Sans discussion between the
(23:32):
two of them. Yeah, thathappens after. Okay, I'm sorry,
continue it happens later. Well,I mean it's a short scene, but
yeah, yeah, no, it'sfine, it's fine. Sorry, okay.
Uh. Searcy is walking over afreshly painted map of West Gross which
was like that man has some skills. I thought I thought, I thought
that was pretty cool. Yeah, but I would have to take you know,
(23:53):
like one person. I had totake months. Like with the speed
of what she's working is incredible.Yeah, to have it to scale,
oh my god. Yeah. Uhbut you know she's it's it's crazy though,
because like she's most people I thinkin her situation would just kind of
call it quits, because I meanshe says it, you know, like
(24:15):
enemies to the South, enemies tothe West. They're surrounded by enemies,
they have no chance. But she'sstill thinking stubborn, like the world is
ours to take it, and she'slost all her do to lose really,
right, But I mean, Imean she doesn't have she didn't have any
love She hadn't have a love interest, doesn't have any she has no family
(24:36):
except Jamie and her brother, whoher younger brother, who she wants to
kill. Right, But I meanthat's just I just I don't know,
I just it's just all it's allrevenge on her. I think she's just
full of revenge. She just shewants shouldn't care if the world ends.
Some people just want to watch theworld burn exactly. Uh. But yeah,
(24:57):
like so, I mean I thinkJamie does try to convince, I
mean, talk some sense center. He is like, we haven't talked about
Tomin's death. We haven't talked aboutthis, and she's like, I don't
want to waste time on that anymore. I don't talk about dead lasters.
I just want to talk, youknow, basically, I want to talk
about the future of the power. And then you see boats approaching King's landing
(25:18):
and it's the uh it's You're onGray Joy with his half of the Iron
Born's fleet, and Jamie kind ofquestions this because he's like, you're gonna
trust the iron Born, you know, and as she's like, we need
a fleet and the fleet and theyhave the largest fleet. You don't think
they can really oppose Danny's fleet that'scoming any day now you're on. Basically,
(25:42):
when they get into the hall andthey start talking, says that he
always wanted to marry the British onein the world and marry the queen.
Oh well, there's lots more tooto it, but basically Jamie once again
kind of questions him, like goinglike, well, didn't you lose in
battle and all these things? Wherewhy should we trust you? Why shoul
would we even bother. Himan alignswith you and he goes, well,
(26:03):
you murdered all my family. Ienjoyed watching that. It was a really
weird It was a really weird yearon like because he's it's almost like a
one eighty character flip compared to thethe character he got last season. He
was more serious, more murderous. This guy was kind of comical. Um
well, I think he didn't reallyhe needs leverage. Who needs uh what
(26:25):
does he have other than the ships? But I did like how he walked
up the steps. Oh yeah, and the mountain came over. Huh okay,
I mean god, I mean withoutsaying saying that, his look was
like, yeah, I made amistake here, but there. You know,
there's even a little bit of funnytoo, because he's like, you
know, she's like, why shouldn'tyou aren't trustworth? You murder murdered your
(26:48):
own brother, And then he goes, you should try. It feels wonderful,
just like, and they kept theykept going to they kept going to
Jamie, which but in fairness tohim, he it he does know that
at Tirien to betray them, soit is it doesn't make sense that's his
case. You know, He's like, our family's both betrayed us, and
(27:10):
they happen to be on the sameside, so let's just go kill them
together. Yeah, and it's ait's a it is a great alliance.
I did find it funny, though. What was the line she said,
what do you have to offer? He goes, I have two good hands
or something like that, something likethat, I have a thousand ships and
two good hands, two good hands. Jamie's like, I don't like this
guy, no, but you know, he says fine, She rejects his
(27:33):
offer. He goes, tell youwhat you know. A woman's away to
the woman's heart is with a biggift. And he goes, and I'll
gain your chest by bringing you aprecious gift, and I won't return until
I have it. So we cantalk about this later in the theory section.
But I'm curious to if you guyshave any theory and what the gift
can be. I would have.I would have to think Tirian's head on
a platter. You think he couldI don't think he could get that so
(27:56):
quickly. No, I don't thinkhe. I don't think he would want.
Here short, what would she shewants? She wants Cherry and alive.
That's not dead. Okay, butokay, short of that, what
would what would get you know, garner her trust? Well, I've got
three different options. Okay, Well, talking say that what happens the book
stays in the book if you wantto, So we'll we'll keep moving,
(28:18):
just a little teaser to stick aroundwhat happens in My first thought was Cherry
and too, but I was like, how's she gonna he's you know,
she's that's a tough kid, allright. So now we're to our favorite
scene. Uh we we're at theCitadel and Sam's just his stacking books on
the shelf and doing his chores, and you're kind of like, oh man,
(28:41):
he's paying you know, he's reallypaying his dues, that's for sure.
With the with the grand I meanbecause we've already kind of covered it,
but I do. I just Ilove the I love just thought that
they've never done this before, likethis timing of the money, the make
fluid. Uh. Well, afterafter watching a Baby Driver where the movie
syncs up so well with the musicand everything like that, Um, that
just continues my week of really welledited uh scenes stuff that I've watched lately.
(29:10):
But uh, but during this wholemontage, you see Sam looking in
this gated area the entire time becausehe's not a master yet. You just
see like he should basically just anorderly who's kind of paying his due so
he can become a master. Buthe knows he doesn't have time to waste
and pay his dues. He wantsto learn how can he can help John.
So the next thing you see ishim performing an autopsy with an arch
(29:34):
with an arch master. So Iforget the actor's name, but you know
he's been in everything, um,and he you know, he's very humble
the way Sam is like, oh, if you thought about my proposition,
and he's like, I don't rememberyou telling me a proposition? Like wow,
you see how important Sam really is? Uh? Do we expect any
less? Yeah? Exactly. Buthe's like, uh, he wants because
(29:59):
he wants access to these restricted booksbecause he's seen, he has seen the
army of the dead. He hasto get this information. And uh,
the arch Master basically tells him no, Um, he said, because the
wall has stood there throughout time.We are just the guardians of men's voices,
(30:19):
their history, and the wall hasalways been there and it'll it'll always
be there basically, and just dismissesSam altogether and says, you know,
clean up the body and let's go. And I kind of I see I
see the Master's silence because they're there, if they're just in the interest of
history, you know, there's alwaysthese calamities that everybody kind of says will
(30:41):
be the end of the world.Um, and nothing, you know,
the world that keeps moving on theEarth keeps spinning. But you also see
Sam's point of view where it's like, well, maybe it won't this time.
So it's it was a good scenebecause it shows both sides and why
it is the way that it is. Well, if you haven't seen the
White Walkers, why would you believeright, No, he said, he
(31:06):
believes him, but he says, like there's White Walkers before, and you
know we're still here, so hAnd it's just like anything else, like
you know how many times if youknow a hurricane's coming or a tornado or
an earthquake, and people all thesepreppers, you know, and they're like,
you know what, it doesn't matter, and then like who cares,
like why two k K exactly? But you know, Sam though he Uh,
(31:30):
he does sneaking to Master's sleeping chambersand he steals the keys and uh
manages to sneak out a few booksthat he needs to read. Anything here
like this is really stupid. It'sgonna backfire on him bad. I don't
know well and he picked up thekeys. It wasn't like he doesn't He
wasn't very quiet about Sam. Betterthan that, he's not known for his
(31:56):
grace. Well, he's had arough stretch, so let's I guess I
should back off. But uh ontouh to winter Fell. We're back to
the scene you want to talk about. Jay Um. So it opens with
Padrick is being trained by Brienne andshe's getting you know, she's kicking the
crap out of him like she normallywould when you're teaching someone. But out
(32:17):
of nowhere, Torman giants Bain approachesand he's you know, and as he's
getting I didn't understand exactly what hemeant by it, like he is because
he looks at uh Padrick and hegoes, you're a lucky man. You're
a lucky man. And I wondered, is he lucky because she's beating him?
Or is is she lucky that shedidn't kill him. I didn't,
like, I didn't real understand thatshe's beating him. That's how I saw
(32:39):
it a little yeah. Yeah, that's how I was the kick too,
I guess, because he wants tobe that guy taken a beating from so
I think so. But uh,but you know, they you know,
Patrick walks off, and you seeTorman say something to Brienne, but we
don't actually hear him, but youkind of you really wish you could have
heard what he said to because thenshe kind of turns abruptly and just walks
(33:01):
away, like get a life.I'm sure there's something I've seen. Oh
yeah, um. But then yousee Sands a little finger up on the
little catwalk observing them, and it'skind of a weird conversation and that he's
flirting with her but not flirting withher, and he's like, you know,
(33:22):
I'm saying, like what do youwant? He's like, I want
you to be happy and I wantyou to be safe, you know,
And she's like, all right,I am safe, because but are you
happy? You know? Then entersBrian and then Baylish leaves and then Brian
asks you why is he around? And Sands as smart she goes, she
knows that we need him because he'sthe only reason why we have the cast
(33:43):
right now. We need the bailin order to win the war, right
Yeah, but keeping him around isdangerous. But I love her um where
he's like, he's like, don'tdon't feel I have to say the last
word. I'll just imagine that itwas this witty comment, Like I thought
it was just a really she hadthe kind of you know, the last
word in saying that, and Ithought it was really good. Right.
(34:06):
Yeah. I actually had to rewindthat because I couldn't make out what she
said at first. But I waslike, yeah, wow, she got
the better that. You got thethe wit in there, I guess,
you know, because the little fingersyour favorite character, Nick, and you
know, we're kind of past thebooks on his storyline, but really in
the in the books, and correctif I'm wrong, Nick, but he's
(34:28):
kind of the that that agitator inthe background, that's kind of the instigate
this whole thing as we see ittoday. So is what he's doing right
now and just playing the little devilon the shoulder of Santsa? Is he
continuing that or is this the beginningof his demise. It's probably is the
beginning of his demise. But thisis his plan all along. I mean,
(34:50):
the reason why he's not my absolutefavorite, but he's one of my
favorite characters because he's the only characterother than Dabos I guess the main characters
that that he is not born intothis. You know, he is not
from a high born family. Hebrought himself up from nothing and has become
the person he is him and Variesknow how to play the game, and
(35:14):
they do it with nothing. Theydon't have money, they don't have power
other than the stuff that's been givingto him. They have to use their
wits. And that's why I likethat little Finger is that he wants to
be king and he'll do anything hehas to do to do it. And
so he's already seen that, likeyou saw fen this episode, he sees
the division between John and Sanza. How is he going to play that is
(35:34):
by him making a move to dividethem? Is that gonna be his downfall?
You never know will he succeed? You don't know. Will he decided
to use the army of the Veilto crush what little army John has?
Like you don't. Little Finger coulddo anything. And that's what makes him
interesting is that you don't know.It means the same as with ned Start.
I mean he ned Start trusted himand then he died because of trusting
(35:57):
little Finger. And there's other stuffI'll get you, which is always bizarre
that he trusted him, Yeah, because you can't trust a little finger.
Well, and even that, buthe knew that. Yeah, but I
think I think he ned Will goingback to that ned thought he had he
had a little Finger, you know, a little finger was afraid of him,
So I think he was never playedhis hand. Yeah, well,
(36:19):
I mean you can't. You alsonet should know him better because yeah,
well, also that little Finger alsoloved Catlin Stark and he did you know,
he hated the fact that his childhoodsweetheart and married what, in his
opinion, isn't a mouth breather, you know, just an idiot, because
he was so honorable that he neverthought he just like, oh, this
(36:40):
is the way it should be,and that's the way it always will be.
Because whereas little Finger loves to playthe angles, the odds yep agreed,
but onto the most controversial scene inthe episode, which is Aria writing
through the woods and she hears somesinging which is just begging for someone to
(37:09):
come along and kill you and Ican't fire scene and it's a group of
soldiers sitting around a fire and shesees them. They offer her some food.
She kind of resists it first, and then she agrees to join them,
and then she realizes over their conversationthat they're just innocent young men,
(37:30):
soldiers that don't want to be there. They want to back with their families,
you know. And I felt thatthis scene was a bit forced.
I felt it kind of felt oddand out of place, but I understood
later that, you know, thisscene was really just to show people because
to me, the Hound and Ariahad mirror episodes, but they realized on
(37:51):
two different spectrums. Spectrums. Ariasaw that there's still is good in people
because she's lived this life for thelast what four or five years were all
she's known is lying the seat andkilling. And she sees that you kind
of was getting her back in touchwith humanity because she sees her she laughs,
she's having a good time with theseguys and that's it. And I
kind of that's what I took fromthe scene, like the one good thing
(38:14):
I took from the scene. Ididn't know who the guy was. For
me, like there's I had.I had to look it up. And
people were so thicked about it.But I like Ed Shearing and I think
he's a great artist. And butI didn't think it was that big of
a deal. I feel like, just sometimes nerds like you don't have to
be upset about everything. It's it'sokay, like it's it's just it's just
(38:37):
sometimes it could just be for fun. And I think it still also plays
well to her story. You thinkAria thought that they figured out they were
harmless basically because all their swords wereall together. Well, you're kind of
playing it out. I was wonderinghow I was gonna play out. Well,
she's looking around, she's looking around, she sees it. All the
swords are thinking, I'm all bunchedup together. I'm like going like you
(38:58):
said, Like you said, Nick, they're singing in there, having a
good time. Nobody's standing guard. She's just marching on her horse. If
they if they would have been theenemy, they'd be dead. Well,
there's there's tension in the scene.I mean they did. It was not
a bad scene. I just feltit felt out of place, but because
you can, because she's assessing thesituation. She's there and you I thought
(39:20):
that toos, like she's gonna getoff her horse, see that they're lasters
and kill them all. But shedidn't. She's thought they were good people.
They offered her food first, andso you're thinking, oh my god,
or if they're trying to poison her. I mean, there's all kinds
of different ways that someone could havedied in that scene. And I was
thinking, Okay, she's a girl. There's what six guys, seven guys
right well alone, I mean, this can't go well. Yeah, and
(39:42):
then the darker guy is one ofthe reason why else didn't like saying the
not the but the other guy.He kept looking at her funny, and
I was like, this guy anaccurate. Is he part of like the
band or something, because like he'sI just felt that he was weird.
I was like, because he lookedat her like I don't know, wait,
warm Taffy would look at women orsomething. Just I was like,
(40:04):
okay, but uh, I mean, I just I didn't know who the
guy was and I looked him uplater because I I just felt the scene
was weird. But I didn't botherme in the scene, because there's definitely
been other scenes throughout the series. It didn't really work. But well,
like I said, when I onour patron's page, because Chris, you
know, put out, Oh my, I go, who's that in the
West Wing? Seriously, that's whatI was thinking, because Chris, like
(40:25):
every week, will put it,Oh my god, something happened to the
West Wing because he's doing he's watchingthe West Wing for the first time.
I go, so good, Ago, Oh that's that redheaded guy that I've
seen him. I I don't knowwho he is, but you know he's
but I go, oh, that'sthe guy, and I celebry was upset.
I go, all right, guys, we need to relax. Fine,
I mean, it's it's fine becausehe's not I guess he's not that
(40:45):
famous to me, but I knowthat if you know. But if this
was like The Godfather and all ofa sudden you're in a scene and all
of a sudden, you know, somebody from the Monkeys shows up in the
Godfather, I'm gonna be like, what the heck? I was like,
Michael, Michael, my Cha Mesmethshows up and goes we want to buy
some why here's the thing, here'sthe thing, Like I, I uh
(41:06):
it because to me it Shearon dida song for The Hobbit that was really
good, and you know he's kindof a folk singer songwriter and so it
worked to some of his strengths asa songwriter. Well, and and he's
British. The show's filmed in Britain. It's all like pretty much a British
cast. So I'm fine with it. I think it's it was was it
was it wrong? Should he evenmaybe it would have been better if he
(41:29):
wasn't singing. But if you're bringingit, sheering on, have him.
If you have a singing sing, have him sing? Why do you why
do you have to happen to sing? Because as in the Red Winning it
wasn't like cold Play members like playingthe drums or some drummer. But it's
a drummer, Like you're not gonnanotice that, you know they've had there.
I think it's people need to relax, have something. I was just
(41:51):
close to I was close to beingdone watching the series. I had no
issues with it. I was like, Nick, it's just kind of weird
that she just came like maybe justlike you're saying they were trying to show
that Aria could have a good time. She kept her guard up, though
she did, but she drank thatwater and ate that rabbit a little too
easily. I'd be like, no, you just poison people with with drinks.
(42:14):
You feel like you would be alittle more leary even because you just
did this trick, especially especially thewhat was it pepper? What was the
wine, grape wine, whatever, heat, BlackBerry wine or something like that,
BlackBerry wine. Yeah, and shejust couldn't stop drinking it. I
go, that's letting your guard downtoo, there are you? But she
didn't. I thought she just surveiled, like, look at the swords,
(42:35):
look at and all right, they'rejust some fun loving guys. And it
said, what's his name? Sohe we're all gonna hear her have a
good time. Well, just waittill next next episode where a tone deaf
ed is singing and you realize,oh, it's Aria wearing it. And
then the internet cheered, and ifyou're listening, ed sharing, I'm a
(42:59):
big fan, don't don't. Ilove your music. We're all big fans.
I'm in love with the shape ofyou. We're all big fans.
We're all big fans, if youwant to be on the podcast ed,
We're come on down. Oh thenthat you know, then we're gonna get
bad reviews. Why would you letthat guy on the podcast? It's cheering
guests on your podcast? Oh mygod? How about what are you thinking?
(43:22):
You just jumped the shirt? Considerunsubscribe? Moving on, all right,
Well, the next one is theis the Hound scene, which was
all like I said, it's amirror. I felt that. Yeah that,
Uh, they mirrored each other.Aria's good call out. This might
(43:43):
have been my favorite, my favoritescene of the episode. Yeah. But
so the hound is riding with theBrotherhood without Banners and they come upon Well
first, it's a good another goodone liner, you know. Thoris looks
at the hounds says, uh,why are you always in a foul mood?
You know? And he's just experience, you know, it's I thought
it was clever. But they stopat an old barn house and the hound
(44:07):
says, he doesn't it doesn't feelright. He doesn't want to stay there.
And I don't know if you guyswere me, but I actually had
forgotten about this, uh, whichbecause it's such a small little scene in
seasons four. Yeah, well, they had in the previously on, so
they did kind of give us somecontext. But yeah, that's when I
saw the previous and I said, okay, oh that's that house. Yeah,
I that I figured out myself kindof okay, but they but they
(44:31):
they entered the house and Thoroughs seesthe two skeletons of of the male and
the daughter, and the hounds staringat him, and uh, Barrett Dunn,
Yeah, Dundarian says, you know, let's uh, you want to
guess how they died, you know, which is a morbid thing to do.
(44:51):
But like he doesn't realize that thehound knows him, and uh so
he said, you know, andthen he probably guessed correctly, you know,
is that the father killed the littleg world to keep it from suffering,
and then he killed himself or starvedto death while holding her. Uh
and then oh then you know,Barry and the hound is kind of still
a skeptical about all the you know, their whole mission and why their followers
(45:15):
are lower. Right, He's like, you know, why why did the
Lord of Light continue to bring youback? You're nothing, You're a boring
person, you have no purpose. And he says, you know, and
then Barrett Condurian. Yeah, he'slike, you know, I asked that
myself all the time. And theytwo continue to bicker, but then finally
thorough Samir says, come over hereand look into the flames, which is
really an interesting turn of character forthe hound, because the hound is scared
(45:37):
to death of fire, because that'show he got his face. Is is
you know the mountain pushing He evensays it won't bite you. Well.
I loved he called out the ironyin it, because it is is the
ironic that this is, you know, the path that he's on right now.
From a literary standpoint, I thinkit's, uh, it's really nice.
(45:58):
Yeah, but uh. The hound, though, does look into the
fire, and he didn't see anythinglike a Like a lot of people,
he's skeptical, and then finally itjust hits him and he says, I
see a wall of ice where thewall meets the sea, which is where
the wildlings are going, where Johntold the wildlings to go. Rom he's
watched by the seat and he saysthat there's a mountain looks like an arrowhead
(46:22):
and that the dead are marching pastit, thousands of them, and he
looks terrified so this kind of indicatesthat possibly the White Walkers are going to
get through the wall. And that'sthe end of this scene. And then
Thoros awakes to the sound of someonedigging and it's the Hound bearing the father
(46:43):
and the daughter, and Thoros thenrealizes that the Hound knew them, and
then the Hound is regretful and hesays that he was sorry that they that
they died. They deserved better. But like I said, like this to
me was a mirror of Aria, because Aria had been in a dark place,
you know, and realize they're stillgood, whereas in the Hound was
(47:07):
in a good place, or ashe at least he was, you know,
he was discovering faith. And thenhe's reminded of how terrible he was,
you know, because he he regretsthat he robbed this man. His
daughter is ultimately led to their deathmost likely. And I just thought it
was an interesting scene. Yeah, how many people he's killed? So many?
(47:30):
Yeah, yet this one, thisone got to him. Yeah,
and you're really seeing a turn forthe Hound, because, yeah, you
don't like him in the early season. It's kind of like Jamie, and
now you like Jamie, you likethe Hound, and you know, I'm
looking forward to the clay game bowl. I know it's going to happen at
some point, so I'm I don'tknow when, but I'm looking forward to
(47:52):
it. Um, we cut back. We're else getting towards the end of
EPIS. So now we're cutting backto the Citadel and Sam is looking over
at some of these stolen books intothe wei night hours and gillies with little
Sam and it's like, you needyou to take a break, and he
says, the dead don't sleep. He's trying to figure out. But then
(48:16):
all of a sudden he finds amap of Dragonstone within one of the books,
and that there's a mountain of dragonglass at the base of Dragonstone,
which is where Danny lands, andso he immediately starts to write a letter
to John to tell him that weneed to get this. I don't know
how they're going to get this dragonglass, but uh that this is it's
(48:38):
here anyway, you guys thoughts who'smentioned earlier that we think Sam might be
in trouble for stealing the books.Oh, I mean, I don't see
how he doesn't get caught. Yeah, I don't know, Like it depends
(49:00):
on how many. I mean,it's a pretty big library. May they
might not notice, but Butody's takingthe books that are locked up. I
mean how many books are locked up? Well? I like that, but
like this is I feel like he'she's gonna be killed for this. No,
I mean it might be expelled, but I mean if as long as
(49:22):
he figures out what needs to bedone, I don't think he would care.
As long as he can save theday, he'll be put on double
bed pan duty. But I don'tknow if you mean truth than you guys
noticed. But um, the lastlittle bit there when he goes back to
doing his band bed pan duties.Uh, the arm that jerks out?
(49:42):
Did you know who that was?It was Jura? Yeah, now I
will I will say I wouldn't havegotten it if I don't watch TV with
subtitles. And it said Jora likeis saying the lines. But I gotta
because his hand, yeah, hishands all cover he's you know, his
arm pretty much looked completely cover nowin grayscale, which you know, it
leads you like to wonder. Iguess he went to the Citadel because that's,
(50:06):
you know, the hub of knowledgeand the known world, and he
thought that's his best odds of beingcured, right, But it seems though
that they just kind of locked himup and just said, heck with it.
You know, you're you're doomed, which makes me kind of want to
believe that Sam is gonna cure him, really think so? I think so.
I think Sam, at some pointduring his research is gonna find something
(50:28):
and and cure him. Okay, that's what I would like, because he
had to have something for Sam todo this season other than just go oh
look, yeah, So I thinkthat would be a good I like that.
Good three Nick, thank you,I get one ever now and then
um and then on to the lastscene. You have Denaries sailing towards dragon
(50:52):
Stone with all of her people inthe huge fleet as she is. I
mean, it's it's basically what itis. She just walks up and you
see how vast. Because I thinkthis is one of the only few exterior
shots of Dragonstones we've gotten because lasttime it's been it's been hum Why am
I forget his name? A StanisBrathian san she's been stands interior shots of
(51:15):
just the desk, you know, the table of the map and little things
here in the belief for budgetary reasons, right, But I mean, you
see how beautiful because this is youknow, Dragonstone is the only spot in
West Roast that actually was Targarian landbecause they agg On the Conqueror landed there
and set up a home there formany years and that's why you have all
the dragon type architecture. And thenthey conquered West Roast and just you know,
(51:39):
claimed it for themselves. And thenI know we've had a lot of
scenes in kind of the the battleprep room whatever was with the big map
and everything, but I never noticedall the dragons and stuff like that before.
I'm sure they were there, butnow it's just like they were hitting
us over the head with all ofthe dragon and us, you know,
(52:00):
carvings and sculptures and whatnot. Right, Yeah, we had Tyrian looking at
them. I mean they were, like you said, they were really making
us, showing us if they werethere right as I think there. For
budgetary reasons, they didn't show alot of stuff in the seasons prior because
I don't remember any of that stuffother than the table. Yeah, and
(52:20):
then maybe like a walkway here andthere that could have been anywhere, and
like the bedroom where uh Barathians bastardkid was like leech the leeches. Yeah,
but that could have been anywhere too. Yeah, like um, but
then she was like Danny walks withTyrian into the the battle room you want
to call it that, and thenshe just gonna go show we begin and
(52:43):
scene. But yeah, my mythoughts, just being from a logistics point
of view, I was like, are you gonna like make sure your fleet
got all in the docks? Andwell they, to be fair, they
spent a lot of money on thedragons and stuff like that. We can't
go back and then do the CGIfleet and stuff like that. Come on,
(53:05):
what do you want? You can'thave it all. I thought it
was a cool scene. I getwhy it was so long and so like,
you know, stoke whatever, butI felt it was a little over
the top personally, but it wasstill good, but it felt a little
a teensy scooch bit over the top, well over long. I always love
(53:25):
scenes kind of like that though,Like like they're the one last season where
they're walking through the desert with her, you know, Calistar army, and
then she rides off and then sheflies over them with the dragon and then
lands and starts giving this huge pettalk, you know, like are you
gonna be with me? And they'relike, yeah, you gonna fly?
Yeah. Like I think that scenewas like one third the amount of time
this scene was. Like I feltthis scene was really long, but it's
(53:49):
just me. But I was nodialogue, which is it. I just
thought it was a great scene. It was a great scene. But I
always want to know what happens rightafter those scenes, because you know,
when she's pumping all these soldiers upand then it's okay, now we got
to walk another ten miles and thenoh, why did sign up for BA?
You're flying? You're flying on thedragon whee? Now why not wait
till we're close to the end.Yeah, I want to go, and
(54:15):
I gotta walk another ten miles inthe desert? Are you kidding me?
Are you crazy? Anyway? Who'swith me? Now? Yeah? So
onto you listener feedback? All right, Well, let's get into some listener
feedback. Listener back, all right, center feedback time. We got an
(54:43):
email and a phone call in intime for this recording, so we'll start
out with the email from Destin.Hello, my crackpot theory is pretty crazy,
but I'm nine sure it's going tohappen. I'd put money on it.
The source of the dragon glass isn'tthe only game changing discovery Sam makes
in the library. He's still riskinghis position by going places he shouldn't.
(55:07):
He's still not respected among the othersthere, and they still don't believe in
the White Walkers if only to listento Sam, But how will he gain
their respect and the forbidden locked offarea of the library. Sam also stumbles
upon what's your Poo telling You bya niece and learns how to examine their
poo and prognoses the help the correctdiet changes dump dump dump. Everyone is
(55:37):
grateful Sam is respected, and theyask what else they can do for him.
But seriously, does your build Isaid, I already said, get
rid of the beans, But seriously, how does your on build one thousand
shifts so quickly? Thanks? Oh, those ships were pretty ornate and complicated.
I gotta go with us and onthis one, that's that's gotta throw
(55:58):
a challenge flag. I don't know, I I thought they were cool ships.
Uh, you know, they probablyhad some kind of I have no
answer for it. Sorry, Yeah, it's resident expert here. What are
your thoughts? Well, it's impossible. And then and this doesn't happen in
the books, so it's just it'syou know, and and and show time,
(56:21):
jig geography, all this stuff thatis irrelevant TV show. You can
spend half the globe in an episode, Yeah you sure, Why can't you
just cut down and build an entirearmada and you know in between the season?
Yeah, because you have ravens again, take notes anywhere anywhere. Just
yeah, I'd go take this toJohn Stark. Okay, sure, but
(56:43):
yeah, we're worried about the shipsbeing built fast, right, It's it's
all it's you don't know when thosescenes are taking place, so it's us
that's how they could all work. But I did think the same thing.
Um, but yeah, good, good call out. But I think it's
just we have to just the factthat there would would be better if the
ships were just just regular ships, just regular ships. At least he's playing
(57:06):
hard with like gold Painting and likenine Pina Penta and Santa Maria. Maybe
it was just three p basic Plaineships with some sales. Well, if
it's just a John boat with ayou know, a mercury engine on the
back, you know there you justjust anything, just anything that's uh,
But like you said, these thingsare hand carved and anyway, Hollywood,
(57:29):
am I right? All right,Let's let's go to a phone call from
Michael from Los Angeles. Here wego, Hello, Jay, Jack,
and Nick. This is Michael callingfrom Los Angeles for a Game of Thrones
podcast. UM is my first timecalling for the show. I'm a very
late adopter. Um. But it'sa lot of fun to watch my first
(57:52):
episode live with everybody else yesterday.UM. Pretty pane episode, not a
lot of death, not a lotof sect in it. At the very
beginning, I was very proud ofmyself because I guessed that it was poison
as they were pouring that wine, and I guess that it was Ayah doing
(58:12):
it as Walder. So that wasa fun opening to the show. I
have a few questions. I'm curiouswhen sirse is talking to Jamie Lanister,
she's wondering. She's saying something aboutthe different enemies they have, and she
says that Santa is a murdering andcalled her a bad, bad name.
It's like, why does she thinkthat Santa chilled anyone? Like? Who
(58:37):
does she think that Sansa killed? Is it? Is it? Joffrey that
she thinks that Sonsa killed or isshe just kind of so paranoid that she
thinks Sansa could have killed anybody, because I feel like at other times she
said that Cherrian did it and anyways, Okay, so I'm also glad that
Santa finally said something about Rob andher dad. It feels like that character
(59:01):
is maturing. When she was talkingwith John, she said, you know,
Rob and Dad made dumb mistakes,so don't make it dumb mistake.
It's good that someone finally said that, and it's it's especially good that it
was her. And then one lastkind of question comment at the very end.
(59:22):
If you guys stayed to the end, they had the look inside the
episode, but the showrunners, Ifelt he was a little heavy handed this
time. I've liked the other onesthat I watched, but this one felt
like they were trying to spoon feedus every little plot point and it was
just sort of strained. I didn'treally know why we needed all the explanation
of each of these little things.I felt like your show should stand on
(59:45):
its own and do that. Anyways, I loved the first episode. Can't
wait to see what happens next.Thank you all right, I thank you
were that call. Yeah. Iactually thought it was a solid episode.
I I thought it was probably oneof the best episode ones. Yeah,
the show has ever had. Iwould agree, because it had the cold
(01:00:07):
opening. It it was it wasn'tjust the cold It wasn't just the cold
opening. It was just the factthat some episode ones usually feel like a
recap of the last season or theyfeel like they're having to just it just
doesn't. It just feels like,Okay, we're just catching up with the
characters. This felt like it justleft right into the you know, after
(01:00:27):
the end of last season, justlike we're continuing with the story, go
boom. It wasn't a set up. It was just like, no,
we're killing these people. This isgoing to happen, and move it along.
And that's why I liked it.I thought it was a great episode.
Was he saying he doesn't know,no way thinks that Sansa or Yea
thought that Tyrian and Sansa were workingtogether. Yeah, because that's that's because
you know Snsa was married to Tyrian. And the fact that signs of disappears
(01:00:52):
the same night as Tyrian disappears itmakes sense in Sarcy's mind to think that
they're in on it together, right, because I mean obvious sound that didn't
want to be married to Terrian,So why would she escape if unless she
was guilty? And I guess inSarcy's mind, then he mentioned he mentioned
there was no sex, a lotof violence, and the thing it said
(01:01:13):
brief nudity. Where was the Wherewas the brief nudity? Did I miss
it? I missed it as well. We may have been so desensitized by
a Game of Thrones nudity that thebrief unity doesn't really hit it. This
was, this was brief, andI went, okay, I went very
brief. I didn't say any brief, not that it has to I don't
have to have that for this showto be good. I just go,
(01:01:35):
oh, there's gonna sometimes I like, okay, they're gonna be unity.
But brief nunity I was. Ididn't see it. It was it was
it. You guys missed that scene. That's why people were so upset.
Yeah, and then if you're listening, yeah, we don't care. Yeah,
and then you know sounds of talkingabout Dad and Rob. I agree.
(01:01:58):
I thought it was It's a welcome, because you know, no one's
really talked about Ned much since hedied, other than like, you know,
don't be like Ned. And thefact that his own children can admit
that he was not the smartest person. Him and Rob both and then the
Game of Thrones you either win ordie, and he died. So I
wouldn't say that. I wouldn't saythey were stupid. They were. They
(01:02:21):
were just too trusting. It's toonoble. You can't be that noble and
win. Yeah, exactly, yougotta be a little uh gonna be like
Jack Glad Butler. I'm just saying, take what you can, give nothing
back. And as for the afterI guess I didn't watch that the uh
(01:02:42):
the thing after the show, Yeah, I thought I watched I thought the
same thing, okay, because itwas did I well, I watched uh
uh turn after a Game of Thrones, so I don't don't spot so far
behind. I haven't seen an episodethis season of Turn okay documentary t you?
(01:03:07):
Was it The Birds to Everything? The Birds Turn Turn Turn yea?
Anyway, all right, you mightwant to edit out that joke. Yeah,
come on, I was look atjoke. That's that's like worse worse
than Jack's jokes. I mean,Yang, I feel bad about myself.
Now, all right, let's Ithink I think, I think the outrage
of ED being a game of Throneshas been outdone by Jay's bad bird joke.
(01:03:30):
Wax, come on, the birds, come on. That was scraping
the bottom of Sam's you know, iron cast bedpan? Yeah, bedpans crap.
All right, let's let's go topeople who were gagging over the bed
pan, are now going Jay's jokeJoe was worse. That was worse than
Lincoln logs. All right, Well, let's let's go to the which which
(01:03:52):
I thought, which I thought washow could he? How can he top
that one? You did it inthe same episod I peaked too early?
A right, Let's let's let's closeout the episode with what happens in the
book stays in the book. Andsince we are so far passive book and
sometimes it says Nick, I'm sureyou have some theories abound about what we
(01:04:14):
have seen this episode, So let'sjump into what happens in the book stays
in the book. All right,so I will be I mean, granted,
most of these are just theories,so they are a little they could
be potential spoilers, so if youdon't want to hear it, turn off
the podcast. Okay, So firstone I have down written down is Sam.
(01:04:39):
So this is a little easter eggwhich maybe months like a lot of
people noticed, when Sam is lookingthrough the book, there's a one page
that they briefly stop on the show'sweapons. Yes, one of them was
a dagger, and that dagger isthe exact same dagger that was used to
try to kill Brand in season one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's
(01:05:01):
a Valerian still blade that according tothe show, it belonged to Little Fingers.
A Little Finger is the one ofthem. When they see it,
they go Little from goes, oh, it belonged to me, but I
lost it in a bet to Tianand so he at the time and the
show and in the book, he'strying to set up that the Lanisters or
(01:05:23):
that tear anyway is behind you know, this attempted killing of Brand, but
in fact he actually lost that bladeto Robert brath In, not Tiering.
And it's always just been assumed thatJoffrey stole the blade from Robert rath In
and then gave it to the assassin. But you know, like just thinking
(01:05:44):
about it though now that it's kindof come back up, it could just
be in Easter. It could justbe a throwback of something they put in
a book. But it made methink though, like did little Finger light
his whole time? Did he evenreally own this blade? Yea? Did
he just see it? He knewwhat it was and decided to say,
oh, it belonged to me,you know, And then I gave it
to Tyrian because what if it reallywhat if it belonged to Robert Brathy the
(01:06:10):
whole time and he actually took itoff the body of Ragar Targarian when he
killed him, um during Robert's rebellion. And so because it's a Valerian steel
blade, so it's a you know, it's a very valuable thing, and
Robert Brathy probably knew that, andso like that's what makes me wonder if
like this blade probably has some kindof history like going back. So it's
(01:06:30):
just a neat little Easter egg foranyone who might not have caught it.
No, I did see its,like, ohay, I think it's a
blade from the first season when theyassassined it that you use, so good
call out there, absolutely and probablysaid, nice little throwing easter egg,
but still cool. Nonetheless, yeah, I'm an overthinker. So the next
(01:06:57):
one um which actually is from thebook, is the song that it's sung
by Ed Charon. The song waswritten and in it's in book three now,
but the song is actually about Tyrianand Shay. It was written by
a character named Simon Silvertonue when hebecause he knew about the affair between Tyrian
(01:07:20):
and Shay and he wanted to extortmoney from Tyrian. So the song because
that's how a lot of gossip andlegends are created as through these songs,
and that's how history, remember you, and Tyrian hard been threatened by his
father, if you remember, likeyou can't date horrors anymore, and so
he didn't want this out. Butinstead of paying for the guy that's not
(01:07:41):
sing the song, Tyrian just hasn'tkilled, which is a you know,
the smart way to go about it. But the interesting thing about to me
though, about this song being puthere is that it can be thought of
in a different context or a foreshadowingin a way, because if you actually
listen to the lyrics, and I'llread until you here he rode through the
(01:08:01):
streets of the city, down fromhis hill on high, over the winds
and the steps and the cobbles,he wrote to a woman's sigh, where
she was his secret treasure. Shewas his bliss and a shame to keep,
and and a chain and a keepare nothing compared to a woman's kiss.
(01:08:23):
Now, that's the last two linesare important for hands of gold are
always cold, but a woman's handsare warm. And who do we know
that has a gold hand? ExactlyJamie Lannis, sir. And who also
has a woman that's his shame andhis treasure. And so it's it's interesting
(01:08:43):
in the way that they chose touse it. Now, Um, I
just thought it was neat. Yeah, um, this is also which is
kind of also it's cool that itwas a song from the books. It
wasn't just one that goes has madeup for edge hearing this thing, so
againt the edge sharing scene all right? That I think I think Twitter just
(01:09:06):
said Okay, we're sorry, We'resorry. Is trending right now, not
to edd though, Uh there's acouple more so. I got this one
was kind of hit a little heavy, but yeah, some people might not
picked up on it. There's alot of mention of the Wall in this
(01:09:29):
episode that is kind of arrogantly mentionedbecause you have it. You have it
with John and sanz Is saying thewall is the only thing standing between us
and the Knights King. It's latermentioned by the arch Master to Sam the
wall has stood through it all,you know, kind of like let it
go, It's always gonna be here. And finally you see the hound in
his vision saying that the dead aremarching past the wall. So I'm pretty
(01:09:50):
sure this season we're gonna see thewall come down, because why else would
you have two people arrogantly say thewalls there, and then one person see
that it's coming down. So Ijust have a feeling probably last episode the
wall is gonna come crashing down.I think that's a good call out.
I think it's a good theory.I think it's really good because it's you're
(01:10:11):
right. Why why call out soarrogantly that the walls always stood other than
to show it fall um? Andthen we're now onto Uron's gift. So
you guys thought it was Tirian, right, that was my first thought.
It had to be Tyrian. Imean, but like you're saying it,
I don't know how he could putoff. All right, So the first
(01:10:34):
one because because if he does getI'm sorry interrupt, if he does give
it, if she does, ifhe doesn't bring Tyrian, then his character's
done. Mh. Well. Myfirst thought was he'll because he's not they're
not too far from dorn So Ithought, Okay, he'll go kidnap the
Dornish girls because they are responsible forkilling their daughter. But that seems a
(01:10:58):
little kind of weak. Yeah, but like there's the third part. I'll
get to it, but maybe umand then But the second thought was what
if he finds Gentry, because Gentryis he's illegitimate, but he's still braff
In. Yeah, he still couldhave some kind of sway of power that
(01:11:24):
could be someone he could bring toher or which is kind of the way
the book goes, but it's justkind of hinted at what if he finds
a weapon because I got naturally shehas an army, she has the last
army, she has a fleet. If she decides to marry him, what
if there's a weapon that somehow cantame dragons, that can manipulate dragons to
(01:11:49):
where they're irrelevant to Danny, Andso that's what I think. Possibly he
could bring. I like that one. Yea, I never thought about that.
Uh. There's was one the thingI haven't seen the Maria yet,
which is Aria's wolf, dire Wolf. I'd love to see that. That's
(01:12:09):
just something that the when's the lasttime we saw her? It was a
season one, season one? Yeah, or two? She lets her go,
so I think it is season one? Yeah, yeah, So I'd
like seeing the Maria come back.We haven't seen uh ghosts yet, so
there's only two dire Wolves left.Yeah, and then I have one crackpot
theory, but I want to seeif Jack's got one. Probably now no,
(01:12:34):
no Jack, Okay. So mycrackpot theory is that one Jamie is
going to kill Sarcy. It mightbe this season, it could be early
next season. But here is thetwist. It will be Aria dressed as
(01:12:55):
Jamie killing what That's a good call. That'd be neat. That'd be really
neat. Yeah, because like whatif I like that one? That's good?
Yeah? Uh because what if youknow, because exactly Danny comes in,
they win all this and then Ariais there wearing the face of Jamie.
Yah boom. I like it.I like it a lot too.
(01:13:21):
That's better than any Jack's craft outthere that we's been around for a long
time. So good call. Iagreed, it's better than any Jay's joke.
So all right, well I Iyeah, I think it's a great
clothes too. Well, we forgotwe forgot to say too. When she's
with Ed and the and the restof the gang, she says she's gonna
(01:13:44):
kill the queen. Oh yeah, and they just get they kind of stopped
goes. It's a class kind ofscene where like she says something it's so
Atlantish that she wants to do.But the people around I think it's like
crazy, so they laugh like it'sa good scene. They just go.
I just would have been like, good luck with that. Yeah, but
(01:14:05):
all right, well that will closeout this first episode of Game of Thrones
is J Jack and Nick. Ithink a good episode, guys, good
job party. I think so too. We're back, we're back from McDonald's
exactly no knicker net. This episodereal solid. Wow, I forgot about
(01:14:28):
that. Give us a call atthree eight five three z nine zero three
eleven and next week you have youhave plenty of time to get the call
in what's gonna a three eight fivethree nine question or theories. Theories.
Yeah, we don't know how we'regonna record next week's episode. We are
watching it in Comic Con. Uhcheck, are you leaving Sunday or Monday?
(01:14:50):
I can't remember. I leave Mondaynights. So so yeah, you
could watch it with all of us. I think watching at Jim's hotel room.
I think that's the plan. I'mone hundred percent sure plan. So
yeah, that would be because thatwould be worked for me, um,
and then recording afterwards might be probablymaybe a couple of days after Comic Con.
Not sure yet. Well, wellwe'll figure it out, but just
