(00:00):
I had a 91, 000 sales month whenI was three months postpartum
with my third child.
I want to share with youeverything that I did during
maternity leave to make thispossible and what I changed in
order to have such a huge salesmonth, just three months
postpartum.
Postpartum.
If we haven't met before, orit's been a little while I'm

(00:21):
your host, I'm Megan men's King.
And I am an online businesscoach for ambitious female
entrepreneurs who want to growtheir seven figure iconic brand
and business and have fun whiledoing it.
I've been in business for over10 years, started my business as
a virtual assistant.
And here we are today.
I just had my third baby inJuly.

(00:41):
I have three kids under the ageof four now.
And the way I set my maternityleave up for this postpartum
experience was different thanI've ever done it.
It was a huge success for me anda huge win for my clients.
And even though we're going tobe talking about the 91, 000
sales month, mostly thismaternity leave is important

(01:02):
context for that and what led toa huge sales month for me.
If you have ever had a childbefore or are considering it,
then You know or you should knowhaving a baby is incredibly
transformative from like acellular level.
Like you're a different person.
I have found for me, every timeI've had a kid, I literally

(01:23):
become a different person on theother side of it in a very
empowering, cool way.
I knew going into this maternityleave experience that I wanted
time.
I wanted flexibility.
To feel how I was feeling andnot feel like I had to come back
to my clients, potentially whenI wasn't ready to, this was my
third C section, my third child.

(01:45):
I really just wanted to have thespace to feel it out.
And this Approach to maternityleave was huge for me.
What I ended up doing was Ibasically told all of my
clients, my mastermind clients, and my private clients that we
were going to pause while I wason maternity leave.
And however long I took onmaternity leave would just be

(02:05):
added on to their contract atthe end.
So it was really a win win foreveryone.
Those, um, who are in mymastermind got continued access
to each other and the trainings.
that already exists.
There were just no new coachingcalls and no new trainings.
Um, so really people just getextra time with the trainings

(02:25):
and with each other, which isgreat.
It also meant that I couldliterally make a decision on
when I wanted to come back.
When I was actually living it,instead of guessing beforehand,
how long of a maternity leave Iwanted.
So during my maternity leave, itwas open ended.
I could have taken off four orsix months if I wanted to.
It could be different fordifferent groups of my clients.

(02:46):
And this really, really workedout well for me.
It gave me a ton of breathingroom for, of course, just
recovering and being presentwith my family with no guilt or
no feeling like I had to bedoing business stuff.
And it just allowed space for ahuge transformation.
To occur that we will be talkingabout here.
I also really am grateful that Ihave this flexible maternity

(03:09):
leave set up because life hasbeen lifing since having our
third baby.
When he was less than a weekold, we had hurricane barrel
here in Houston.
We didn't have power for 10days.
We were in a hotel with threekids, including a newborn.
I was recovering from a Csection.
We had our two dogs.
It was a whole thing.

(03:29):
And then of course, since thenlife has been lifing recurrent
stomach bugs and sickness.
As my big kids go to school, then we're entering in kind of
the classic cold season.
So, you know, it's just been onething after another.
And I'm really starting to makepeace with the fact that this is
just life.
Like life is just, you know,There's always something and
that's okay.

(03:49):
And that's beautiful.
And that doesn't need to be abad thing.
So I'm really grateful for thismaternity leave set up because
like I said, it gave me a ton offlexibility.
I did come back first with myprivate clients.
I was so ready for that.
I love coaching.
Coaching really fills my cup.
And so I was excited to comeback.
So I came back first with myprivate clients.

(04:09):
Um, and then the next month Icame back with the remaining
clients in my mastermind.
And it was great.
Now, one thing I think isimportant, just if you're
listening to this and you are amom or a parent and you're like,
how the hell are you doing this?
I am very well supported.
So I just, you got to know thatright off the bat, off the gate,
off the bat, whatever.

(04:31):
My husband is a very, very muchan equal partner.
He works out of the house.
He, he's a good guy.
He has a job, but he is not justa present parent, but he is
fully engaged and an equalpartner in taking care of the
house and the kids.
We also have our big kids, whichI think is, I call them my big
kids.
They're like literally not eventwo and four yet.

(04:51):
Um, but they go to a littleMontessori school just for like
school hours.
But it's great for them to getout of the house and get to make
friends and have a whole thing.
And then we have a nanny for ournewborn.
So we are incredibly wellsupported.
And that means that I do havededicated work time.
So when I drop the kids off fromschool, I basically have from

(05:12):
drop off to pickup to do what Iwant.
So that's appointments.
That's errands.
And that is work.
So it's still, um, very muchpart time.
I'm usually working like 12hours or less a week just with
errands and appointments andlife, lifing and a kid getting
sick and all that kind of stuff.
But, um, I'm still very gratefulto have that dedicated time

(05:33):
where I can sit here and recordthis.
And if a baby cries, I don'thave to be the one to go help
him.
So super helpful.
Now let's dig into kind of thistimeline, uh, between July when
I had my son and September whenI had this 91, 000 sales month.
So in July, we had the baby.
I was fully just present in thatin August.

(05:56):
I was starting to want to comeback to business.
I knew a transformation wasunfolding.
I even knew it before the baby.
I was like, this is going to behuge.
I know after this baby is goingto be my biggest year in
business yet.
And I was totally right.
And it's still about to be thebiggest year ever, which is
amazing.
Knowing that and knowing myselfwhen it was August, I decided to
invest the most I've everinvested into joining a

(06:19):
mastermind.
I've invested.
So much money in my businessbefore I've been in masterminds
before, but I was really feelingthat I was ready for higher
level support.
I love masterminds where you getone on one support and like a
mastermind.
It's my favorite style ofmentorship.
And so I was looking, I knew Iwas going to join.

(06:41):
With one of my mentors and I wasjust kind of evaluating what was
the right fit for me Ended updeciding in August to join a
mastermind that didn't evenstart yet And I was determined
to make my return on myinvestment before the mastermind
started because for me I knewjoining a mastermind was not
that a mentor had a secret ThatI needed to be successful or

(07:02):
that I needed this type ofmentorship to hit my goals.
It was a lot more about thetransaction and the commitment.
And honestly, like the challengetoo.
So I knew for me making thiscommitment in this transaction,
Was going to really help me putmy money where my mouth is or
whatever that phrase is.
Right.

(07:22):
Where it was going to be like,we're doing this.
And that's exactly whathappened.
The moment that transactionhappened, I actually posted
within a couple of days onInstagram that like this week,
everything changed is changed.
I marked the moment, which is aphrase, a lot of my clients hear
me say all the time.
And that was a key.
Pivotal, pivotal.
Gosh, I can't talk all of asudden.
That was a key pivotal momentfor me where I was saying to

(07:46):
myself, I believe in you.
We're going to do this and it'snot going to take us a long
time.
We're going to start doing thisvery quickly and it can happen
that quickly.
Let's fucking go.
And so Really, for me, it wasthe transaction and that
commitment to myself that setoff this domino effect of what
led to this huge sales month.
Because again, it wasn't that Ineeded a mentor to accomplish

(08:08):
this, but I knew for me, one, Idesire it.
I love mentorship.
I love masterminding.
It absolutely helps me movefaster, bigger, bolder.
It helps me refine the class, you know, foundational skills of
growing a business.
I was ready to play at thatlevel.
Like this is just where we areoperating.
We're going to be in the roomwith people who are playing the

(08:29):
same way, and that's going tohelp us grow faster.
And so just the transactionalone and the commitment that
I'm going to pay this personthis amount every month.
For a year was huge.
Fun fact, since then I'veactually upgraded to her highest
level mastermind, you know, that's, you know, part of the

(08:49):
story here, but the first thinghere was really that big, the
biggest investment I made atthat time set off this domino
effect because it made me vieweverything I was doing
differently.
I was taking it seriously.
I was playing big and I was nowfinancially invested in.
Making it happen.
So that was really activatingfor me.
And that happened in August.

(09:11):
And I made that investmentbefore any new money came in.
So it was absolutely another keymoment of commitment and
believing in myself because Ididn't wait to make money in
order to make this investment.
I made the investment first.
I moved first before I hadevidence to support it, which is
very much like, okay, let's doit.

(09:32):
So then that happened in Augustby September at the end of
September, I had hit 1 millionin lifetime revenue for my
business.
And I had that 91, 000.
Sales month.
And that's new sales inSeptember.
So between August and September, this is where we're looking at
the most transformation in how Iapproached business.

(09:52):
And of course, strategic changesas well.
So when it comes to like makingthe money, I realized I didn't
have the pathways set up forpeople to pay me to even make
the money I wanted to make.
I want to make a million dollarsin a year.
I have to have more ways forpeople to pay me.
And at that time, my mainprogram at the time, it was

(10:15):
called rich coach club.
It is now the iconic mastermind.
The doors were closed, so no onecould join.
And then beyond that, I had lowticket courses, which I didn't
like.
Would be take volume to hit thegoal I want to hit.
And I really don't want to workwith any more private clients
than I currently am.
So that wasn't an option either.
So it was a very clear moment oflike, yeah, let's do this.

(10:37):
We got to open up some pathways.
We got to change our products.
We, we got to overhaul ouroffers to make this a reality
and an option.
And so that was really the firstthing I did in the process.
Late August, I think is when allthis happened.
I launched three programs.
One of them technically was justopening the doors to the new

(10:58):
version of rich coach club, which is now the iconic
mastermind, but it overhauledhow that program is set up.
I rebranded.
It has a new intention, newvision, um, raised the
investment as well.
I also then launched mylegendary mastermind, which has
a cap.
It is my highest, closestproximity way to work with me.
And then I launched mymembership.

(11:20):
So I really overhauled myproduct suite to make it where
people can pay me and join anyof these programs at any time.
And that was huge.
And of course a big, big step.
Big part of the sales month wasthese new pathways finally being
open that were previouslyclosed.
The cool thing is that I didn'tnecessarily do anything else
different.

(11:40):
I had a ton of energetic shifts, which we will actually spend a
lot of time talking about next, but it's important to note in
this reflection, I didn't doanything else.
I didn't start posting on adifferent platform.
I didn't start posting everyday.
I didn't change the way I createcontent functionally.

(12:01):
I didn't suddenly go viralanywhere.
I didn't have a huge email listgrowth.
In fact, I think I've hadunsubscribes, but like that's
okay.
So it's really interesting tojust think that just having the
right offers in place for my.
My, um, dream clients for mybusiness goals, for my

(12:21):
lifestyle, and just having thosepathways open made such a
difference in making this evenpossible for me because nothing
else functionally changed.
I will say though.
The energetic shift of how I wascreating content, what I was
saying in my content and how Iwas making decisions behind the

(12:42):
scenes and showing up for myclients.
That was really next level forme.
I have always been a very likeimperfect action.
Go be bold, be brave.
You, if you've been around, youknow, that's my vibe.
I really think that it has goneup 10 times since having a baby.
And, and over the past couple ofmonths, um, because I truly am

(13:07):
viewing my impact and mybusiness's impact.
In a higher level, bigger waythan I've ever allowed myself to
express or believe in before.
Um, and that's why I, part ofthis is the iconic movement and
really deciding that my businessisn't just a niche, helping
people do a thing.
It's a movement.

(13:27):
It's the iconic movement.
It's helping you become yourmost iconic self, building an
iconic business and brand andhaving a huge impact while
making millions.
And this idea of being the mosticonic me.
Was really the identity shiftthat drove so much of this
because my most iconic self doesnot care What someone else

(13:49):
thinks about me?
She doesn't care about if thisflops or not She doesn't care
about if she says the perfectwords in an Instagram post.
She just posts the thing.
She trusts herself She is bold.
She is audacious.
She's here to make millionsunapologetically Right.
She takes care of herself.
She works out, she wears red,she dyes her hair Brown.

(14:11):
There's like a lot that unlockedfor me when I realized that I
was going to be my most iconicself.
And if I'm going to help otherwomen do that too, then I've got
to walk the talk every singleday.
And so the identity shiftunderneath all of this of
becoming my most iconic self ofviewing my business as a
movement, the iconic movement.

(14:32):
Was so, so huge because Istarted making decisions faster
and from a more grounded place.
And I also started having thefucking audacity to say what I
want to show up fully me and mycontent quirks and all to speak

(14:53):
how I speak in my actual reallife, what you're hearing here.
And you're probably hearing ababy crying background.
Sorry about that.
He's fine.
Um, but yeah.
And also to claim things outloud, to tell the public, this
is where I'm going.
I'm going to 50 K months.
I'm going to seven figures ayear.
This is where we're going.
Jump on.
Come with me.

(15:13):
Let's do this.
That.
Was huge to say the things outloud made them real.
It also made it very challengingin a fun way to be like, yeah,
okay, let's do this.
Like we have witnesses now.
How cool.
Um, when I was about to hit 1million in lifetime revenue, I
made a big fucking deal aboutit.
I had a whole week in telegramtogether called 1 million.

(15:36):
I had a whole big party.
I reflected on it.
I shared the shifts I've beenmaking.
It was an incredible program andI unapologetically celebrated
with my people, this huge, hugemilestone that it would have
been easy to just neveracknowledge to brush under the
rug or maybe acknowledge in likeone piece of content.
But instead I made it a bigdeal.

(15:58):
And I'm really taking thatmentality across my business.
And that's part of why this 91,000 sales month was possible is
because I'm allowing things tobe a big fucking deal.
I'm allowing me to be a bigdeal.
I don't need to play small.
My offers don't need to playsmall.
The impact I have doesn't needto be small.
This can be big.
We can be big.
It is safe to take up space.

(16:18):
It is safe to be audacious andbold.
It is safe to say you want to beiconic.
You want to have a legendarybusiness.
You want to make millions andthat energetic shift partnered
with the commitment that I hadmade previously with the
pathways available for people topay me in new ways was huge.

(16:39):
My mentality around my goalsshifted from, I need a
spreadsheet with every.
Scent mapped out where it'sgoing to come from and trying to
control it and try to controleverything to a Inevitable
mindset it is inevitable thatI'm going to make seven figures
in a year because it's just itis and for me It started by

(16:59):
saying 50k months.
It's inevitable that I'm gonnamake 50k months.
That's just going to be mynormal I don't know when it's
gonna happen.
It might happen in October Itmight happen next October.
It's going to happen.
And so I'm going to go ahead andact that way.
I'm going to go ahead and actand make the decisions.
I know seven figure me.
mix.

(17:21):
If I know that when I have aseven figure business, I want to
have these types of programs, then we're going to go and do
that now, because having that isactually how we get there in the
first place.
If you've been around the blockwith me for a while, you've been
in my next level, you program, you've heard me talk about the
concept of you 2.
0 and your big picture vision.
This is very much in line withthat idea that you have to be

(17:46):
you 2.
0, be your most iconic self inorder to then have the things
you actually want.
You're not going to have a sevenfigure business by acting like
someone who has a hobby.
It's just not gonna happen.
You've got to start acting likethe person who has a seven
figure business in order to havea seven figure dollar business.
So these are the big shifts thatled to this 91, 000 sales month,

(18:09):
just three months postpartum.
I was very supported and I hadgiven myself space to integrate
and figure out where I was goingto take things.
Then I actually invested inmyself, put my money where my
mouth is, and I made acommitment saying, we're going
to do this.
And then I had this hugeidentity shift.
Up level for lack of a betterword in how I was doing my

(18:30):
business and myself that allowedthe way I create content to be
bolder, to be more direct, toclaim space, to accurately
convey my expertise in a way Ihad played small before.
And this mindset is what'scarrying me forward.
As we go into 2025, I amdetermined to make, well, I
should say not determined.
That's very controlling energy, but my intention is to make.

(18:54):
Seven figures in 12 months tookme 10 years to make the first
seven figures.
We're going to 10 X that and doit in 12 months next and that
feels fun and that feelsactivating and challenging and
audacious and like ballsy ashell, which is really fun.
And so just really being able totap into this new wave of

(19:14):
boldness, audacity, fun, energy, excitement and honestly,
trusting myself.
Having my own back has been ahuge piece of this because if
I'm going to make a 12, I mightallow my clients to make 12
month commitments to me.
They need to feel safe doingthat, but I also have to have my
own back to know I can do this.

(19:34):
If I'm going to say, Hey, I'mlaunching a program called game
plan.
That's going to help you do A,B, and C, and we're just going
to teach it live and we'll seehow that goes.
And it's going to be great.
And we're just going to do thething.
I'm not sitting there.
I'm not wasting time trying tomake it all perfect.
I'm not sitting thereoverthinking and waiting until
it feels perfect.
I'm trusting myself to figure itout and to like make it work and

(19:56):
it's going to be amazing.
But because I have that newlevel of self trust, because I
know I have my own back tofigure this out and to be
resourceful and to show up formy clients and to show it for
myself, I'm able to actuallyspend way less time planning,
way less time thinking and moretime doing.
I sit down, I know exactly whatto focus on.
I do it.
I move on.

(20:16):
I'm not sitting here paralyzedwith planning paralyzed by
trying to set up a notiondashboard paralyzed by trying to
wait until someone gives mepermission to do whatever the
fuck I want to do.
I'm doing it.
And the way I approachmentorship has shifted in that
way as well.
I'm not coming to my mentorsaying, should I do this or
this?
It's, Hey, I'm doing this.

(20:37):
Where are the gaps?
How can I 10 X this?
How can this be better, bigger, older.
How can I refine my messaging onthis?
How can I get better at how Iposition this?
How can I, uh, where are theregaps to make more money here
that I'm not seeing, right?
That's radically different.
Then coming to a mentorshipconversation saying, should I
post on Instagram or tech talk?

(20:58):
Should I do this or that?
Very, very different.
And so it has been reallyincredible to experience this
quick of a transformation, butto also know that you can do
this too.
All it literally took was adecision, a commitment and the
audacity.
And here we are.

(21:20):
September was an incrediblemonth.
October has been insane.
And I can't wait to see wherethings go from here.
So just know I'm here cheeringyou on.
