"Vermiglio" had its world premiere at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for its writing and direction from Maura Delpero as she tells the story of a remote mountain village family's life in 1944, Vermiglio. The film competed for the Golden Lion and was awarded the Grand Jury Prize. It has been chosen as Italy's entry for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards and has been nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language. Delpero was kind enough to spend some time talking with us about her work on the film, which you can listen to below.
