We couldn't be more thrilled to share this conversation with Melody Short, a Richmond native and co-owner of the Artisan Cafe, as well as the self-proclaimed first Air B&B, OWN television star, small biz mentor + guru, and most recently the Director of Brand Development at Akwaaba Bed and Breakfast Inns.
Melody's journey is exciting and empowering. We learn how she lands in the music industry working with major bands from Bob Dylan to John Mayer and utilizes her innate connecting and learned marketing skills to move up the SONY corporate ladder, to taking a leap of faith and opening her own Brooklyn B&B. We learn the value of building and maintaining relationships and we listen as Melody explains the importance of community from childhood up to present day. We are inspired as she speaks to her mentors as individuals who declare what they want to accomplish and make it happen. Melody is such a person who inspires us to dream big and trust we have what it takes.
