(00:01):
Hey Pro Organizers, my name isMelissa Klug and you are listening
to the Pro Organizer Studio Podcast.
Professional organizingchanged my entire life.
After 20 years of working at hugecompanies, I started working for myself.
I opened a professional organizingbusiness, grew it to six
figures, and I never looked back.
Now I get to spend all day, every day, teaching organizers around the world
(00:25):
how to find clients, how to marketand sell yourselves, how to turn this
business into what you want it to be.
Whether you have been in businessfor 15 minutes or 15 years, you
have a home at Pro Organizer Studio.
I'm excited that you're here.
Let's get started.
Hey pro organizers!
It's Melissa.
And it is a Monday, January 6th.
(00:48):
And I know for a lot of people, this is the first work day of 2025.
It's the first Monday obvs.
I worked last week.
I worked on Thursday and Friday, but ifyou didn't and you were smart and took
a couple of extra days and then have theweekend, this is your first day of 2025.
And I want to make it really great.
(01:08):
And I am starting it out withsome personal reflection.
One of the things that I liketo do is to give you what I'm
thinking about my own year.
I like to pick a word of the year.
Last year was consistency.
I I did not.
I did not execute on the word consistency.
Like I had planned.
(01:28):
There were a lot of reasons for that.
I have given myself thegrace to let that one go.
But this year I am very energizedby the things that I have chosen.
There are two different thingsthat I'm going to be talking about.
One of the things isgoing to be about you.
And this might connect with you, or itmight cause you to go I have no connection
(01:49):
with that, but I do really think myword of the year is going to be blah.
Some people are reallygood at goal setting.
I just happen not to be one of them.
So this word of the year helps mea little bit to guide my processes.
I really, I would love to be the kind ofperson that is excellent at goal setting.
And as a business coach,I should be good at it.
And I should be good at teaching yougoal setting, but it's just not my forte.
(02:14):
And you have to know what you'regood at and what you're not.
So I'll let other people do thegoal setting by the way, if you're
looking for good goal setting.
Jon Acuff who wrote the book soundtracksthat I've talked about many times.
He has a podcast calledall it takes is a goal.
So he's a great one to listento, but this, the word of the
year concept works for me.
And this year I've decided it's likephrase of the year is going to guide
(02:36):
my work at Pro Organizer Studio.
I have actually picked notwords this year, but phrases.
And there are two phrases that I am goingwith because they mean different things.
One of them is going to be personal, how I'm going into the year.
And then one of them is going to be.
What is my work goingto be about this year?
My work both in my own professionalorganizing business and my
(02:59):
work with pro organizer studio.
So I'll start with that one.
This year, we are going tofix your digital foundation.
I have such a passion for this, becauseI think that there are so many people
that miss out on some very low hangingfruit when it comes to getting clients,
because of their website because theirGoogle business profile because of
(03:23):
other parts of their footprint online, and my passion this year is going to
be fixing all of those things for you.
And the reason I want to do thisis because I have seen it work.
I see it at work every single dayin my own organizing business.
And in a hundreds of other people'sbusinesses, where we talk about this all
(03:44):
the time our Inspired Organizer members.
And I just want everyone to knowthese things that can make getting
clients so much more effective.
And I am hoping that we cando that for you this year.
So that is going to guide mywork at Pro Organizer Studio.
I'm going to be rolling out.
Lots of things to help you.
(04:05):
We are going to bedoing some mini courses.
We are going to be doingsome essentially bootcamps.
Lots of different things that are goingto be coming out about fixing your
digital presence and your footprintonline so that you can find clients
that is always the bottom line.
Anything that we talk about here, anythingthat we do is in the service of keeping
(04:27):
your business thriving and keeping youin a place that you can continue to do
the business and feel good about it.
So that's Pro Organizer Studio.
The next thing I say, it's a personalthing, but it's definitely going to bleed
into professional because it's, it's hardto hard to keep those two things separate.
So one of the things that I havepersonally going on this year is,
(04:49):
uh, this is the year that I turn50 years old, which is crazy.
It's crazy to me and I, um, first ofall, I'm very Zen about that birthday.
I'm just going to be like, we'reembracing it and, and it is what it is
because it's just the passage of time.
But one of the things that I haveactually loved it, and I've talked
to people a lot about this, in myforties, I really felt like I kind of
(05:11):
came into a little bit more of who I am.
I found the career that was meant for me.
I found pro organizer studio.
I had like a lot of lifechanges in my forties.
It's a, it was a crazy decade.
You guys.
But as I'm starting to turn 50,I really am starting to realize
a few key things about myself.
(05:32):
Sometimes personalgrowth takes a long time.
You guys, five decades.
And this is definitely a partof a personal journey, but it's
a professional one as well.
There is a word that is vastlyoverused and the word is authentic.
But it's really about me wanting to bea little bit more authentic in how I
present myself and how I come across.
(05:55):
And so here is a little bit more ofmy personal slash professional goal.
Because it guides a lotof the work that happens.
In fixing your digital foundation.
One of the things that I thinkis so incredibly important.
It's one of the Hills I will dieon for organizers is to really
come across with a personality.
(06:16):
So whatever your personality is onyour website, your online presence,
in your digital properties.
And one of the things that I've reallywanted to be honest with myself about is.
There are still times that I buttonmyself up or I'm not totally myself.
And I'm not going to go into allthe deep thinking that I have
(06:39):
had on the subject since lastyear, because it would be boring.
But one of the things that I decidedis going to be a phrase that I take
into this year is just be yourself.
There are still times that I kindof stuff myself and my personality
down because I think, oh, thatmay not connect with everyone.
(06:59):
That type of thing.
And I've decided this year, I'mjust gonna really be myself.
You guys have seen it and you haveheard it, but I am just going to be me.
I am a people pleaser.
And one of the things that I strugglewith personally is I just want to make
sure that everyone is connecting and youknow what, in my organizing business,
(07:20):
I've said this on many occasions, Imight not be the right organizer for you.
So I might not be the rightbusiness coach for you.
There are lots of people out there.
I want you to find the person that youconnect with, but I want to show you a
little bit more about who I really am.
And so you're going to seeprobably a lot more humor on my
(07:42):
Instagram for Pro Organizer Studio.
You might see things and belike, wow, I'm not really sure
what she's thinking about there.
Of course, what I hope is that you'llgo, man, it makes me like her even more.
But if it doesn't that's okay too, because I just want you to find
the right person that you connectwith to help you in your business.
And I would love for it to be me, but ifI'm not your cup of tea, that's okay, too.
(08:06):
And that goes the same inmy organizing business.
And I hope that goes to the samein your organizing business.
When you try to be everything to everyone.
It doesn't work.
So I want you to just be you.
I will just be me.
And I think that that's goingto connect so much with people.
(08:26):
Every year that you growin entrepreneurship.
I was going to say that youearn more of a right, but it's
not about earning the right.
It's just that you get morecomfortable in your own.
Beliefs and feelings, and it givesyou that ability and that confidence
that you can be more of who you are.
And I am going into my eighth yearof entrepreneurship and I am ready
(08:51):
to just really kind of embraceexactly who I am and go with my gut
So that is what this yearis going to be about.
I hope that you are excited.
I have so many fun things goingto be making some announcements
in the next few days.
So many exciting things.
I hope you're along for the ride.
And I would love to hear what yourword of the year is or phrase of the
(09:14):
year or multiple phrases of the year.
Please send me an email.
DM me on Instagram.
Uh, however you want to get intouch with me, but I would love to
hear what you're doing this year.
All right.
I will be back later this week with thefirst entry into I'm just going to be me.
With a new podcast.
Ah, maybe you'll see it tomorrow.
Maybe you'll see it Wednesday.
(09:34):
We'll see.
But I hope you have a great week.
Organizers go slay thefirst week of January.
