Today's episode does what it says on the tin and talks about suicide. Suicide is the leading cause of death in young people in the UK between 20-34 years (www.mentalhealth.org.uk). Though it is so common it feels it is often the least openly talked about aspect in mental health.

I talk of my own experience of suicidal ideation and highlight what I learnt from my depression during this time. Though talking of something so serious, you will often hear me laugh and make light of my own experience. This likely comes from my time working as a nurse where if you didn't laugh you would likely cry, all the time.

Notes: The manual I refer to is the DSM-5 - The Manual and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th edition, 2013)
