(01:40):
breakdowns here. We jump around, and of course huge spoiler alert for everything
every show in the universe through yesterday'sepisode. So if you're good with that,
this is the place for you andwe should just get to it absolutely
all right. Episode one, Whatdid you think? High level? I

(02:00):
thought it was pretty intense, Yeah, you know, I mean, I
you know, I wasn't expected whenRick chopped off his own hand, all
right. I had heard a spoilerthat they were thinking that he was missing
a hand, and I'm like,oh, oh, this is it,

(02:21):
this is what he does it,and by god he did and I'm thinking,
Okay, you just chopped off yourown hand in a fire and you're
in a lot of pain. Howfar do you really think you can get?
So that scene, oh my God, that scene. I'm like,
is he gonna do it? He'sgonna do it, like you know,
we knew he was gonna do it. But I'm sitting there thinking, anyway,

(02:42):
that is not a good idea. It's not gonna work, and rick
bad idea. And sure enough,he pretty much immediately gets caught. But
can I just say the commitment, the commitment needed to chop your hand off
like that? Oh yeah, Imean it that, you know. Yeah,

(03:04):
you could tell that he was desperately, desperately trying to get back to
micheone and they even said it wasthis what seventh or not sorry, seventh
fourth attempt at escape, which iswhy they had him on that on that
reel when no one else was Yeah. Yeah, I'm like I noticed that.
I'm like, oh my god,he's like attached to someone. He
can't run away. I noticed thatimmediately, like, oh man, they

(03:28):
got him chained up. You're notgoing nowhere, sir, nowhere. But
then cuts his hand off, andthen the second it's smart, but it's
also crazy. He literally throws hishand into the fire, the burning walker.
I'm like, oh god, thisis crazy. Oh yeah, I

(03:52):
loved it. I loved every minutehey, and we did finally find out
what a'smb's meant. We did.We did finally and you know what,
I feel like we kind of guessedthat when we were watching World Beyond we
you know, I think we werereversed though, yeah, we were.
So it turns out they didn't wanta's a's are all killed. They only

(04:16):
want bees, which tells you thatwhat they want is a population of sheep
mm hm, which makes it absolutesense because sheep were easier to her than
wolves. Absolutely. So basically,Jadas did him a favor because she didn't
want him to die, so that'swhy she classified him as a bee.

(04:39):
But then they realized after his firstescape that he was not actually a bee.
He was an a. Yeah,They're like, oh, you shouldn't
even be here, sir, Yeahyou got through. But then yeah,
then I can't remember his name.It starts with an our oka four that's
it. Stepped up and went no, no, no, no, no,

(05:02):
let's keep him. Now that wehave him, let's keep him,
yeah, which was actually really smart, and I think that I really liked
his character a lot. I thought, Wow, this could have some potential.
And then what happens to him?Yeah? Off with his head.
Well technically but all things being equal, since the thing came up to the

(05:28):
bottom of his chair. But yeah, sorry, I mean I thought he
was gonna stick around. I did. I thought him a couple episodes.
I mean he was like leading therebellion. Yeah, well, not really
a rebellion. It was a rebellionin the ranks. Yeah. He was
trying to place people that would notjust do as they're told. He wants

(05:54):
to get rid of the a's andthe b's, right, he wants to
get rid of the a's and theb's, and I mean a revolution.
He what Honestly, I'm gonna gomore for what he was doing was a
restructuring, a silent restructuring, becausehe was hoping that it would fall under
the radar for long enough that hecould get more people into places without anyone

(06:17):
noticing, you know, a silentcoup. It was more of a silent
coup than a revolution. Yeah.He failed though, because General Beale he
was sniffing him out, because heasked, Rick, Kay, is there
anything I should know? Yeah?Well, and we can see some things
in this episode that harkened back toWorld Beyond, you know, the fall

(06:43):
vocal of Omaha. Even some ofthe characters from from there were you know,
in this show too, on thesidelines. So oh God, I
don't know. Don't ask me theirnames now, never mind any if I
didn't notice anyone, I mean,like, I want to know if I

(07:04):
missed someone I didn't like. Isaid it was they were more like background
people, and I'm like, oh, I think I remember them from because
they were bringing people from Omaha andstuff. They were relocating the special people.
Mm hmm. But yeah, Iwas thinking it was when they were

(07:27):
showing more of the upper echelons. There was a couple of people that I
thought I remembered from World Beyond.I'll take that because I didn't notice them,
But maybe I wasn't looking for themeither. So well, I really
only noticed because they were really pushingthat that whole narrative with Omaha mm hm,

(07:50):
and you know, the fall ofit and what's happening and then suddenly,
oh, there was two breaches andsomething happened inside the building. I
wonder, it's a mystery, wonderwhat happened. We know what happened.
You know, it was deliberately doneby god. I can't remember her name
has been so long since we've seenthat show, the Crazy and saying,

(08:13):
you know, Commander, I don'teven know. It doesn't even matter,
it doesn't even matter. I'll think, I don't think the well, I
mean, we know that we're goingto see Jadis, yeah, because we've
seen her in the previews. SoI wouldn't be surprised. Like I said,
if we don't happen to see acouple of people here and there from

(08:37):
the World Beyond wander in, wellat the point, it wouldn't be the
worst thing. But I don't expectit, really because I think the story
they're trying to tell is so sosmall. I think, if that makes
sense, because they've always told usthis is about Ricky Michelle, right,

(08:58):
and obviously the effect that they haveon the world, you know, within
their prim you know, around them, right, So I can't imagine seeing
some of those characters now. Maybe. Well, but like I said,
we're seeing we're gonna see Jada's.But she's the through line. She started
this. Of course we're gonna seeher again. Jada's didn't start on the

(09:18):
World Beyond. She was on theoriginal show, right, which is I
think she's different, That's true.I mean I'll give you that. It's
it's honestly, at this point, anything's up for grabs. I mean,
we we know because they are everythingwe've pretty much seen as far as the
previews and everything have all focused entirelyon these two characters. We've seen a

(09:41):
few of their like auxiliary people, but I'm gonna say all the auxiliary people
that we've seen are going to befrom the first two episodes. Mm hmm.
So it's hard and honestly, I'mgonna say I was shocked that by
the end of the very first episodethat they had the two of them come

(10:07):
together like that. I was shocked. I was expecting it in like episode
three, so we have this andif they had just ended it with his
plane going down or is his helicoptergoing down? And then we do her
next, and then at the endof her episode, then we had the
big you know, show her beingthe one that you know, took down

(10:28):
his helicopter. And I gotta tellyou, I am really curious what she
used to bring them down because theywhistled. I know. It was really
interesting and I think we'll probably seeit from her side next episode. Yes,
but I was shocked, amazed,I actually, honestly, I was
so jarred by it. I startedgetting emotional, like, oh my god,

(10:52):
that's my show. Oh my godnesstogether, I know, I actually
got the feels a little bit.I'm like, oh my gosh, I
felt so good. I feel likewe were old that. Yeah, and
I saw that it was like onTwitter, and I also saw it in
an article I was reading articles todaythat you know, of course Gemple always
wants to do shit wrong, andthank goodness for these actors who are now

(11:18):
producers, Dinna Grera and Andrew Lincoln. I think it was Deny who really
pushed for them to see each othera lot sooner than what Gemple originally wanted.
Yeah, like I said, Iwas really assuming that they were going
to draw this out, and itwas going to be either the end of
the second episode or somewhere in thethird before we saw the two of them

(11:39):
together. Because the story that theytold today or last night, they could
have, just like I said, ended it with him on the ground and
you know, after the helicopter crashand then we go into the shone's story
next week, and so I couldsee where, you know, they could
have just cut it off there, not given us that moment of them together,

(12:01):
I wonder she's going, oh mygod, I just almost killed Rick,
you know now, honestly, yeah, they could have done that,
but I'm glad they didn't, becausethis is why I think this was the
right move, because next week we'llsee her POV and of course they'll probably
show us the same part again atthe end, and we'll move forward,
right and now that like that, yeah, and now that they're together,

(12:22):
I feel like we can focus onother parts of the story and not just
be thinking about the whole time. When will we see Rick and Micheon together,
because that's all everyone was going totalk about incessantly until it happened.
Oh why not just let it happen? And I do absolutely. I was

(12:43):
so happy when the two of themgot to, like, thank god,
oh my god, they're back together. The looks though that they were,
I mean, the the look ofshock on both of their faces, yes,
you know, I mean the recognitionin the shock. And and it's

(13:05):
almost a little bit sad because Rickhad just literally the night before given up.
No you know, he burned allthe letters and you know, burned
all the you know, the everything, and you know, said I'm sorry,
I failed and then to find outthat she has been trying to get
to him as desperately as he hasbeen giving trying to get to her.

(13:28):
And that's how life works, Likethe minute you release it, things just
start happening. Yeah, like, you know, he couldn't force that to
happen. And I felt bad forRick's character because I like the way that
they shared what happened to him overthose past six years, and we could
actually see the deterioration of him, like as he realized I can't fucking get

(13:52):
away after all. Yeah, youknow, especially when that other new character
played by Leslie m Brandt's Pearl PearlThorn, when she basically you know,
he's like, we're not you know, they're not gone. Our people aren't
gone, and she says, no, we are. We are, and

(14:13):
it's like he never thought about itin that way, and it's like slowly
he just started to kind of decideto let it go. And I'm like,
oh, that's so sad. Buthow many years can you do that?
Well? Apparently six Yeah, apparently, Yeah that's a long time.

(14:37):
Oh that's a long time. Well. And I was also thinking about this
because they were talking about the A'sand the bees. Okay, and how
they've been dividing people up. Sothese are people that aren't even brought into
the compound yet, people that areout you know that they could you know,
they're coming across these civilians so tospeak. They're sorting him out before

(14:58):
they even know A. And they'retaking the bees and they're either sending the
a's off for experimentation or for immediatedeath. So they don't just want sheep
inside the city. They want tomake sure that there's never any competition outside
of it either. Yeah. Yeah, I mean that honestly, that was

(15:20):
one of the themes that like residewith this whole CRM world, Like in
Brick says, you know, asecrets on top of secrets on top of
sea secrets, and it's like neverending. So yeah, they don't want
any freethinkers. They don't in themilitary, in the community. They just
want people just happy to be there. Yeah, and I think that's you

(15:41):
know, after watching this, thatmakes sense. It makes a lot more
sense why they took down Omaha, not just because they were open and they
weren't hiding themselves, but Omaha hadbeen you know, it started with a
university and spread out. So thesewere thinkers and leaders and doers and makers,

(16:06):
and that's not what they want.Mm hmmm. And I'm gonna be
I'm gonna tell you, I'm reallykind of surprised. You know, So
we were six years on. Weknow that at the end of The Walking
Dead that they had not had youknow, the common the Commonwealth had not
had contact with the cr m mhmm. But you would think that they

(16:30):
would have targeted them already because therethey could potentially be a threat. This
is a an entire city of youknow, an entire community, extending community
of thinkers, not to mention thethe other rival group, the Christian ones,
but they've got going on. Maybewell I don't know, maybe just

(16:55):
maybe if they end up giving usthe second season of this, they'll have
some time to like dig into thesmaller communities and they're aware of them or
not, or maybe they might hitit this season. I don't know.
Yeah, well, because there's actuallyI mean, and even you know,
take uh was it Manhattan. Youknow, we got the guy making the
biofuel fuel out of the Dead andthat whole thing. I mean, they

(17:19):
just took over essentially New York andyou know, again threat, So I
don't and the serum has got tobe aware of them, has to be
aware of all of these communities. They might be, but they may be
low priority, Like they have awhole like over one hundred thousand people,

(17:41):
like hundreds of you know a lotof people. Yeah, versus that guy
on Dead City. Yeah, he'sgot the city on lockdown. But how
many people does he have? Ibet not not even probably a couple thousand.
Yeah, But then again, Imean they they took out Omaha,
they did, and I don't know. I guess we'll have to wait and
see. I guess at this point, I would love for them to share

(18:03):
that and like connect the dots, but I'm not overly concerned if they don't.
Yeah, I have a feeling that, you know, Rick and Michun
went together, are you know,They've They've made a big point of saying
that the two of them together areunstoppable. They are the leaders of the

(18:26):
future essentially. So I'm wondering nowthat the two of them have connected,
and we won't see it next week, uh, but the week after,
you know, to kind of seehow because I don't think either her or
Rick are going to just go backto their community. No, well,
you know what, I think thatRick will eventually, But I don't think

(18:51):
they're not just going to go,oh, okay, you know, helicopter
down, let's get out of here. No, no, no, I
mean he's going to go back tothe CRM. He will, I think,
because yes, because think about it, No one everyone just knows they've
been attacked, right, he reportedthat guy, he reported that four died.
They knew they were under fire,They knew that their helicopter went down,

(19:12):
and that's it. He could beout there for days talking to you
know, Michone and her people, and they don't have a clue what the
hell's going on before he goes findshis way to whatever station to go back,
So he could totally make a wholeplan and then go back and they
wouldn't be the wiser, They wouldn'tknow, they would know nothing. And

(19:37):
we know that. I mean Rickhas succumbed to the idea that he can't
get away. He's never going tobe able to leave. But but I
don't know if that applies anymore, because I know that he was concerned because
obviously, Okaforn knew a lot abouthim, Like, yes, everyone knows.

(20:00):
We don't. We picked you up, right, But how much does
General Beale know versus him? Howmuch you know? Is it? God?
Did it stop with him? Howmany other people know all the things
about Rick? So does Yeah?Does he have more lenients? Now?

(20:21):
Is he under the gun as muchas he thought he was? I don't
know. Yeah, Sorry I pausedbecause Karina had just posted he pressed his
beacon before he left the helicopter,So yeah, they can track him.
Oh well, good catch, Karina. Well we'll see how how long they
get before before that. You know, now that they're together, you know,

(20:44):
he will not abandon the shown. No, he will not. I
mean, will this full cut offhis hand exactly? You know. And
although that the story about his dadand the fire and stuff, and he
said, well, you know, sometimes you just have to do these things.
But again I think that was moreof his admitting defeat. You know,
I've tried everything I can and Ican't get away exactly. That's what

(21:07):
that is. That's someone just acceptingtheir situation, like what Pearl wanted him
to do. Right, that's himjust saying, okay, I give in,
that's it. But guess what hesays that? And two seconds later,
he has a reason not to,right, So I do feel like,

(21:29):
you know, I think we're bothin agreement. He's not going to
just leave the CRM. He's notgoing to try to walk away from it,
not as it is. But he'salso not going to walk away from
a shown either, exactly. Yeah. I mean, after six years and
all the effort cutting off his hand, you know, the totality of everything
he did to get back to her, there's no way that he would ever

(21:52):
let her go because he knows howbig the CRM is now, Because think
about it, he was working fora year on that new place, you
know, he was doing that. There's a new place he knows about.
He knows a lot of the plans. Now he knows that this thing is
too big. You can't just walkaway right well, and he also knows

(22:15):
that that it is an absolute threatto his home people in it. Deare
I think he's thinking bigger than thatnow, his people, Yes, his
original people. He's going to haveto learn what happened to all of them,
right right, But his worldview haschanged, I'll put it that way.

(22:36):
I'm pretty sure after you work inthat kind of situation and you start
as Okaphora wanted. He starts toclimb a little bit. He's learning more,
he's in more places, he's hearingmore things. There's no way he's
thinking about just his small community anymore. Well yeah, I mean, and
I don't disagree with you, butagain, that's going to be you know,

(22:59):
his community, his daughter. You'regonna find out he has a son.
Oh my god, he doesn't evenknow he has a child, a
son. I'm moment I know he'sgonna have a son in your or a
six year old. Oh my god, Oh yeah, I know. So,
I mean those are gonna be Imean, those are gonna be,
you know, top of his mind. But you're right, he's gonna look
at this and go, we can'tjust let this stand. And it's not

(23:22):
just for his community, but forall these communities that the CRM is just
destroying. And it is not that, you know, trying to rebuild civilization.
Good two thumbs up. You know, I approve of that. Keeping
people safe awesome, bonus awesome. But the way they're doing it, you

(23:42):
know, and the fact that theyare so willing to throw away, you
know, an entire city of peoplebecause it becomes inconvenient. Yeah, it's
crazy. That is insane, andI feel, you know, they got
a lot of room now to workwith that and flush that story out and

(24:03):
give us some of the details becauseof the way they decided to tell the
story. I don't know. Ijust think it was so good that Andrew
and Deny had like their hands inthis because I think this is how I
literally thought yesterday, this is howyou hook an audience. This is how

(24:26):
that episode it looked beautiful. Andyou know, we always on our show
talk about how long has it been? We always say that shit and guess
what. Out the gate they giveit to us five years after the bridge,
and they tell us in passive ways, it's been another year, right,

(24:47):
Yeah, things that Gimble wouldn't giveus before. Yeah, you know,
even his friendship with was it Garcia? Was that his name? I
can't remember now, Yes, itis Esteban Garcia. And you know,
you wouldn't even talk to anyone forthe first two years, you know,

(25:08):
and now we've become you know,so you know, it's establishing that they've
been together since the beginning. Howlong it took him to get Rick to
talk to him? You know, how many more years it's been since that,
you know, and now they're friends. He's at the end of his
six year stint and he's getting readyto become a citizen, and he's excited.
And and the thing, unlike mostpeople, you know, Rick is

(25:33):
the outlier. Almost all of themare excited to finish their six year of
indentitude to get into the city, you know, to go into the parks
and enjoy civilization again. Air conditioning. You know, he was very,
very impressed with the air conditioning.Honestly, ninety eight percent of them are
like that, right. It's it'sjust these handful of people that are not.

(25:57):
Everyone's like, out do my jobuntil I can see you know,
yay the glory land. Yes,fun, excitement life, regular life.
No walkers. Right. Well, and here's the thing, particularly so if
you bring in an a and theystart, you know, upsetting the apple
cart, because if you're bringing themin on their own and they know that

(26:18):
if there's family out there, theyhave people out there, and they're going,
no, can't have them. Mmhmm. You know, that's that's
an issue. But a lot ofwith the bees, you know, they're
more passive and they're they're looking atit. Well, they may not be
alive, you know, or whatevertheir excuse is that they give to themselves.
But you know they want the passivepeople. They want the ones that

(26:42):
will be excited. That's why theydon't want anyone with charisma or leadership skills
to come in, anyone that candisrupt how things go, question the order
of things. I have to wonderwhen they are searching out bees, I

(27:02):
think they want more bees, right, if they come across the A,
they'll use them. I think thatJadis was looking for bees, and I
wonder if as they have people, and I know she wasn't the only person
doing this finding a's and b's,are they purposefully looking for people without connections,
people that don't have families, orpeople that are on their own or

(27:27):
you know what I'm saying, likeit would be easier. Why would you
snatch someone from their family when hey, this guy on the road is clearly
a bee, right and there's noone with him. You know, I
got to wonder if there's some thoughtinto that. And I know Rick was
the exceptions. I don't know whyshe did that to him because she needed

(27:48):
someone, She needed someone, Sheneeded someone. That is, as far
as everyone knew, Rick was probablydead in the explosion. And yeah,
he was injured, you know,he was badly injured. He was so
and he might not have survived ifhe didn't go to the same Yeah,

(28:08):
he might not have survived. Wedon't know, you know, but yeah,
I think it was just she tookthe risk of taking Rick simply because
of the circumstances. In theory, most people would not go looking for that.
I mean, micheone and Darryl didlook for him for about what was
a year, two years after hewent missing, a long time, but

(28:33):
then they gave up. He hasto be dead. There's no sign of
him. There's no you know,no nothing. I bet we'll get some
solid dates or timeline next week withhow long she was looking for him before
she decided to also kind of giveup before she found all that stuff in
the ship, right exactly. Butshe has essentially given up as well,

(28:56):
right, And that's what I'm saying. She had given up for several years.
You know, they couldn't find anysign of them. They couldn't,
you know, there was no whispersof them. There was no community that
you know, had seen him,and they had looked. I mean,
they put themselves in a lot ofdanger looking for him. But it wasn't
until she saw you know, thebackpack in the ship that she went,

(29:21):
he's alive. Where he was alive, He made he survived the explosion.
Mm hmm. And uh, youknow, so she continued, you know,
so she went back on the search. And you can't you can't really
blame her. But at the sametime, considering this is the world that
this is takes a lot of faithbecause she had no idea how long that

(29:44):
stuff had been there on the ship, where it had come from, or
anything else. Yeah, that's so. And honestly, she was lucky because
she had a community to watch herkids, right. Yeah, any other
person that didn't have that security wouldhave to just let it go. You
can't leave your kids or drag yourkids around. I mean, so that

(30:06):
would have been her two choice.Well, she could have done, you
know what Maggie did so little youknow what. It didn't what Maggie did.
Maggie just drug her kid all overthe you know, tell him back
again. See how his ass turnedout, don't you know? And I
don't you know, I don't blamehim for anything because Maggie was not a
good mommy, but it would havebeen mishown easily on a mission, right,

(30:33):
a mission to find him, andI'm dragging my kids all over the
world instead of leaving them at homewith people that love them. Yeah,
one different situation, but you knowshe did, she would. She talked
to Judith and Judas told her gofind him, bring them home, you
know's and she kept her secret fora lot of years. Yeah, years,

(30:56):
did not say a word. Iknow. I still think that is
crazy that you are going to putthat decision on a child, But I
get it. It's fine. What'shappened has happened. Yeah, the ship
assailed and he's found, So itworked out. Although she almost, like
you said earlier, killed him beforeshe saw it then as she yanked off

(31:19):
the mask, Oh, I know, And the only reason she did it
was probably just so that she couldslip the throat easier. Yeah, and
he really couldn't see her because ofthe you know, she's wearing the everything,
and you know, the heat ofthe moment. So yeah, that
was a they almost killed each other. Yeah, that would have been wild,
like, oh my god, couldyou imagine? Oh, look the

(31:45):
end, the end. I mean, they wouldn't do that, but I
mean, just could you imagine yearsand years of searching and one fatal error.
Yeah, So I wanted to talkabout some things that I thought were
pretty cool in this episode, Likelet's talk about I love a good training

(32:09):
montage. Yeah, love it.And so we got to see Rick,
you know, through his training alittle bit. So we believe that the
skills he has, the skills thathe has. Now you know, he's
flying copters, he knows how tofight properly. Yes, he's got a
weapon for a hand that he canuse properly. He is still able to

(32:34):
fight. He's not a handicap. You know, he has joined the Metal
Hand Club. I guess I don'tknow. All these things were really cool
to me, like, you know, seeing him learn how to fly,
you know, seeing him fight, and oh, sitting with okafor and oh

(32:57):
girl learning right or learning all thosemanuals and books. I believe That's why
I'm like, they are gonna dosomething big here. They're just there.
They spent too much time showing hisgrowth and build up to him assuming a
leadership position. Exactly. They workedtoo hard to show us all these things.

(33:21):
There's no way. Yeah, we'vewe've determined. Everyone knows what's gonna
happen. It's just how is itgonna happen? Right? Right? Yeah?
So I like that. I evenloved those dream sequences were adorable.
They were bringing her pizza. Whatif I bring five pizzas at a wedding

(33:45):
ring? I'm like, what, you gotta do it? Five pizzas?
But yeah, sure, do it. Do it. She's like, yeah,
I think he should. You know, I'm gonna be real truthful.
The first time we saw that littleexchange, I was a little confused.
I'm like, this isn't a flashback, you know, this can't be of

(34:05):
no, because she didn't know him. They weren't even in the same area,
you know, area code or anything. And this dream version of a
meet cute for them, right. And I realized it, you know,
because I was just like, oh, don't tell me that you're revamped in
history. You know that they hadthis one little moment where they had actually
met prior to the apocalypse. I'mlike, no, don't do that.

(34:27):
Do that. And I was like, oh, thank god, it's just
a dream. Okay. Look,I know immediately when he's like asking her
about how to read the map,I'm like, oh, he's dreaming I
knew pretty I knew pretty quickly.I'm like, oh, this is a
dream. Like the colors were kindof different, and I mean Michelle was
just so cute, you know, she was so nice and flirty. They're

(34:51):
flirty. I'm like, oh,hell, this is a dream. Yeah,
but it was super cute. ButI'm like, oh, he's still
like really thinks about her a lot. It's coming out in his dreams.
But until that last time, Yeah, that was pretty awful. Yeah,
definitely like oh ouch, I guessthat's when he started deciding, well,

(35:14):
I'm gonna let go of this. And I mean it's you know, there
was he made the decision more outof defeat than out of belief. I
don't. You know, he doesn'tbelieve in the CRM. He doesn't believe
in the system that they have. But I think he he've been defeated again

(35:37):
six you know, like you said, how long can a person last?
About six years? Apparently, Yeah, and I mean it broke him.
Yeah, it broke him. Butlet's not forget he had that other bit
of intel, knowing that if hewent back to them, he would guide
the CRM right to their door exactly. So even if he thought he could

(36:02):
keep trying to escape even if hethought it was possible, he would never
risk them. Yeah, he wouldjust sit and suffer before he risked them.
So he just had to decide andactually to just let it go.
He had to. Yeah, wellit wasn't even just said he had to
decide whether he was going to livewith what the reality was or die,

(36:27):
because he you know, couldn't livethis way. But I also kind of
wondered if he thought he was goingto game the system until General Beale kind
of calls him on it. Ithought, well, maybe he thinks he
can join, rise some ranks andthen do what he wants. I'm like,
oh, maybe, I mean, you never know, but I'm not

(36:50):
sure if he was thinking that wayin the end. You know. Well,
and the thing of it is,is he with knowing the A and
B system, even if he couldsomehow sneak let's say, he had to
entertain the fantasy of trying to bringthe Showan and Judith in neither one of
them would would pass. They wouldboth be declared a's oh absolutely, you

(37:13):
know, Judith, even as youngas she is, would be absolutely rejected.
Somehow, I feel like r Jis a b too, he'd make
it, but he has no ideaabout our chide me, my god.
Yeah, I don't know. Maybeif we see them again and he's a
little older, he might have growninto a a. But that poor kid

(37:35):
didn't have any lives that we justgot left thinking he was just a little
all his sister around kind of kid. Yeah. Well, because you know,
you have your Graces and you haveyour Judiths, you know, even
in you know, even in thecommunity they have I mean, Judith is
is a leader, you know, she's you know, even at a young
age, she's she has mm hmm. Grace does not. And they're the

(38:05):
same age. Yeah, so actuallyI think Grace might be just slightly older
than Judith. I can't remember now. Well, Grace is definitely someone they
will want in that community. Soeven if you know he was entertaining a
idea, maybe sneaking away and justtried to break in his family, they'd

(38:25):
never pass the ab system. No, they wouldn't unless he gets rid of
it, unless he's so high upthey abolish it, like like okapour wanted
and then he has his own agenda. But that's so far out. I
mean, maybe he was thinking aboutthe long game in that way. But
I guess we won't know now, right, And I'm okay with that.

(38:46):
Yeah, you know, it's aI'm really I'm really interested in Michelle's journey
too. I've seen, you know, I've seen some of the previews and
the people that she, you know, hooks up with, and uh,
and I'm really interested to see theirher journey. Yeah. I think it's

(39:09):
gonna be interesting for sure, becauseyou know, I wonder, are those
people she met a part of thatgroup that she originally saw when she walked
off, you know, trying tocatch them, that big group. I
don't know, I wonder. Iguess we'll find out, because if they
have Michelle's backstory the same treatment thatRick got, will know the whole story.

(39:31):
Yeah, because you don't have togive us all the minor details.
You just have to, you know, give us the broad swaths and focus
in on a few highlights here andthere, you know, the turning point
moments. They did that so perfectly, all the highlights, the important stuff,
the timeline. It was so perfect. And it wasn't even like I'm

(39:54):
hitting you on the head with infodump. It wasn't even put that way.
You know. The storytelling was reallystrong. It was I'm going to
say this was probably the strongest episodeI've seen from The Walking Dead and year
years years. Yes, So Iknow you and I had had a lot

(40:15):
of trepidation, you know here, particularly with how they ended, you know,
Fear of the Walking Dead and youknow, the little anthology thing and
you know, World Beyond. Allof them were not good at all.
So I had some I had someworries, but this really was one of

(40:39):
the one of the strongest episodes.Honestly, this is better. I think
this show is going to be betterthan Darryl Dixon and Dead City. I
know you don't like Dead City, look, but that city is fine.
It's quote unquote fine, and forme, fine, it's like a CE,

(41:00):
know what I mean. And Ithink Darald Dixon was a little better
than that, but it definitely wasn'tif I'm serving upgrades, Daryld Dixon wasn't
a A for me. Yeah,it was maybe a B. It was
like it was a strong, blidB. Yeah. But I mean,
and I'm gonna say, compared towhat we had been served up, you

(41:20):
know, with the Fear of theWalking Dead recently, it was a you
know, Oh my god, Fearthe Walking Dead went out on a C
minus and they got the C minusbecause of me liking the show, you
know, because I felt some kindof way about that show over the long
you know, they've done so muchof a lot of the actors. That

(41:42):
last season was a firm C minus. So they have been on a down
spiral a little bit to me.Yeah, and Lord knows, y'all,
if you guys go back and listento those episodes if you're new here.
We hated World Beyond, and Imean hate it. You know, I
hated the last season. I meanhated the last season of Fear of the

(42:06):
Walking Dead. Actually, I hadstarted hating it back when they dropped the
nuke and it just never got anybetter. Yeah, that nuke was a
bad choice, bad choice. Butthis show could redeem the universe. It
could redeem it because you know, honestly, I was watching this last night.
My boyfriend walked in. He says, they haven't put a stake in

(42:29):
it this yet. I'm like, nope, still go and he's like,
shouldn't they have just buried this Idon't know, like five years ago.
I'm like, shut up, justlet me watch. I know, just
shut up, let me watch it. You gotta wonder. And I actually
was watching an interview that I thinkEntertainment or US say today. Somebody did
an interview with them on YouTube, and then Guerra was saying that a lot

(42:54):
of there have been other you know, I guess fandoms that have tried to
do a lot of spin offs andit just it fails. Yeah, but
this one has survived by the skinof its teeth, in my opinion,
by the skin of its teeth, and now it has a chance, I
think. I mean, The WalkingDead started off super strong, Yeah,

(43:16):
it really did. And Fear ofthe Walking Dead I didn't like until they
brought on Morgan, and for acouple of seasons with Morgan on there,
I really liked it. I like, you know, because it wasn't just
Morgan. They brought on all theseyou know, new characters that I really
liked. And then we went backto Madison. And honestly, I think

(43:44):
in some ways part of the reasonwhy Fear the Walking Dead ended so horribly,
aside from dropping the nuke, theygave into that pressure to bring Madison
back. I really, in myheart did it. In my heart,
I really think if they had lefther out of the whole equation, they

(44:05):
could have ended so much stronger.Yeah, and honestly, we never should
have saw Alicia again either, exactly. Let us imagine what happens. Mm,
they messed up, But this, this show, the Ones who Live,
could be their redemption. Yes,if they continue on. Yeah,

(44:27):
with the same strength they started thisfirst episode with. It's gooda they're gonna
knock it out of the park.It feels so different already. Like Gimbal
said in that same interview, Iwatched like he admitted this is different from
anything else because he said this, the creation of this was more and he
said, quote like a band.Everyone is working together. Right. It

(44:50):
wasn't him running the show, soother people, you know, namely Andrew
and Deny had their hands all overthis. So all the stuff we hate
about The Walking Dead, that isGimbal. Yeah. So we didn't have
it. I mean, there wasn'tThere wasn't these lags, there wasn't filler.

(45:10):
No things made sense. So aslong as they keep the storytelling strong,
which I feel like they will becausewe've never seen them work on something
like this before, right, andthey knew the story they wanted to tell
right, they knew, they wantedto please the fans, and that's what's
going to make this show different fromanything else. Everything else was the writer's

(45:34):
room and Gimble doing what he thinkshe wanted to do, which is left
up every time he's not been right. So now we have people who actually
care about the Watchers, that havededicated years and years of their lives to
this show and the Yeah and hischaracters, and they want to do it
right. And so that's why II am knocking on wood over here,

(45:59):
because I'm feeling very confident about thisseason because just because of how different the
creation of it was. Oh yeah, And like I said, just watching
it, the the tight storytelling, the you know, the the way they
transition from you know, or momentto moment, you know, as we

(46:21):
had these time jumps didn't feel forcedor unnatural. No, it felt you
know, it flowed really nicely. And while it didn't show every you know,
we didn't see like Rick's first threeattempts, we did see his fourth
and last one, see the mostimportant one, the most important one,

(46:45):
the one that showed the lengths thathe was willing to go to. Yeah,
and not only that visually. Visually, it's more appealing. You know
how the Fear had that weird colorgrade going on with each season. This
it didn't look like weird, youknow, like we're all over with the
coloring. Right, So at nightwith the fire, it looks one way.

(47:07):
In the daytime, it looks oneway at night time it looks honestly,
it looks very cinematic to me.Yeah, well, and it the
lighting looked appropriate, Yes, likewhen when they were when Rick was burning
around in that fire, it wasn'tso dark you couldn't see anything because they

(47:28):
just put a black filter on it. But it wasn't daylight either, because
we knew it was night. Weknew it was dark. So you know,
you have the glow from the zombies, you know, the zombie candles.
Yes, and you know so ithad it felt right, Yes,

(47:50):
it did. It really did.Oh, this is a see where he's
putting his hand in the walker heverything like you you know how we've complained
before, like it's so dark youcan't see anything sometimes. Yeah, this
had no problem with this, noproblem, I didn't you know, I
didn't have any problems. Yeah,I mean I didn't have any problems seeing

(48:14):
what was going on? And youknow, I mean a little dimn for
me, but for the most part, it wasn't. I didn't feel like
I needed to turn on you know, the the the audio for blind to
find out what was going on.And I hate shows it to that when
you're just seeing like shapes moving blackon black. Come on, man,

(48:34):
give me something, let me knowwhat's going on, Like what what the
Yeah, yeah, it looks greatfrom beginning to end. I literally have
no no critical feedback for this episode. I don't either. There was really
nothing about it. I did notlike, uh, you know, Rick's
you know slow you know, acceptanceor you know, defeat in what was

(49:01):
going on felt natural, you know, given the length of time, and
you know he struggled so hard againstit, and you know you could hear
him, you know, in throughthe letters that he was writing, I'm
not going to give up. I'mgonna get back to you. I'm gonna
stay out here on the outer edges. And then, you know, until
they forced him in. You know, I left you a uniform on your

(49:22):
bed. That's it. We're doneplaying these games. Yeah, you know,
so you could see these reluctance, you know, dragging steps at every
step of the way that he did, until he finally again timing is everything
the night before said to you know, said I I'm sorry I failed.

(49:45):
And you know what else, though, I can I just say Andrew Lincoln
surprised me in the best way.And I say that because I had not
seen him in anything else since TheWalking Dead. He might have in other
things, but I physically have notwatched him in anything. So I'm like,
was he just off what's happening?I wondered if he would be as

(50:07):
good as he was before, andhe is, Oh, yeah, he's
even better. He's a very sympatheticfigure. Yeah, you know you can.
I mean you can see the thesadness and the solitude and the depression

(50:28):
and the just the crushing weight ofwhat's going on. You could just feel
it, you know. So yeah, I thought he did a really good
job of, you know, showinghow Rick was feeling without having to say

(50:49):
what Rick was feeling. Every secondright Like even the scene where he's contemplating
early on, you know, hehas that glass in his hand and he's
like okay, and then he justdoesn't do it. I'm like, oh
my god, you can tell heis at the end of the rope.
Yeah, and he's got these glassyeyes that don't like he wants to cry

(51:13):
and he won't. Oh, thered eyes and just looking like m hm,
he's hard to put away, wetman. Yeah, he's really mastered
Rick's character. He's got it down. There's a question what is this character
feeling or thinking? Oh yeah, you could. It was just it just

(51:37):
played across his face and it wasnice. It was it was lovely.
Yeah, even in the nicer scenes, like the the dream scenes we talked
about, I'm like, he's soflirty with her. It's so cute.
It's so cute, like the littlecrinkles, your little crinkles on his eyes,
you know, and the you know, the delight yes, oh yeah,
oh look at that. I lovedit. He's I didn't know what

(52:00):
I tried. You know, Ireally tried to go in with no expectation
because you know, having a highexpectation has ruined it for me before.
Oh yeah, So I was sopleasantly surprised all around, like all the
new the secondary characters, Like,I am really curious to see what Pearl

(52:22):
Thorne is about, you know,is she gonna be a true friend?
How long is she going to bearound before they kill her off? Important
questions? Yeah, those kind ofthing. That other guy where we see
him again when we see Esteban again, Esteban Garcia or is that was that

(52:43):
a one time? I'm really curiousto see who when these characters come around
again, if they come around again, other than Bill obviously, we'll see
Beale. Oh yeah, Oh andwe'll see Pearl too. Yeah, I'm
sure because she's there at the compound. Yeah. And I even like the
little scene where it showed you know, them basically walking into a big nothing

(53:05):
and you know the plans and asit's taking shape and the people walking around
and you're building this, you know, the two of them building this thing
together. You know. I evenlike that particular sequence because again, it
showed the passage of time without itbeing rubbed in our faces. Yeah.
So it starts like it's light out. You see all the stuff, equipment,

(53:30):
people walking in the background, andthen it just starts. You can
see out the window, it startsto transform. It's really really great how
they told this story like a yearhas passed without having to like literally show
us a year, right, youknow, just by having people walk around
this office. Yeah, and becauseyou know what, I'm sure every day

(53:52):
it's the same kind of day forthem during this year. So you know
that we know what they're we knowwhy he's there, we know the why
he wanted Rick to be in thisposition. You know, it's the stepping
stone. So we have all theinformation on why this is important. So
we don't need to to pause here. We can just do the little montage.

(54:17):
But it was done in it,you know, because the camera angle
didn't change, you know, itjust kind of went through this whole you
know, manifestation. Yeah, andwe got this mm hmmm, we've got
you can see the helicopters, thelights, you know, we got the
full view now and this is asmall view. Yeah, it's you know,

(54:40):
it's good. It's I I reallyI think they did a really good
job of that because I know insome of the other shows they did struggle
with the passage of time and andI thought they did a really good job
on this one. I think sotoo. I mean, oh my god,
you know what this is for therecord books. This is a record

(55:04):
This is when we need to likestamp a gold stan. I don't know
the last time we had a conversationwhere we didn't have any critics, like
any critiques or when we're saying, what the hell does that mean? Or
what happened to this? Or whatabout that? And what about this?
What was the last time we hadthis kind of conversation? Well, because
they again, they they didn't theydidn't do anything stupidly out of place,

(55:31):
right, you know, and ifyou're the Walking Dead, they had their
characters doing the dumbest thing for thestupidest reasons that no rational human being,
real live person would ever consider leavingus sitting here going what are you doing
exactly? Why would you do that? Right? You know? The the

(55:52):
shifting alliances, the shifting everything, you know, over the course of even
one episode, just you know,we're friends, we're enemies. We're friends,
we're enemies, we're frenemies. Youknow, Oh my god, just
pick a side, dude. Itwas like that, pick aside and where
this is. I mean, weknow where Rick stands. You know,

(56:14):
he wants to go home, yes, and and everything he is doing is
to hopefully get home. Yeah, but even at the end, you know,
they they you know, and whenhe throws everything in the fire,
by that time we understand and hehe admits I failed, and and we

(56:36):
we've seen this journey and how hehas struggled and what he has lost,
and you know, everything that youknow that has been stripped from him,
and we get it. You know, we don't go. I don't know
why I gave up. Now weknow why. We've seen this, this
whole journey, you know, thiswhole six years and an hour. And

(56:58):
and I can't say that there amyone of us that would not have made
the same decision at some point thatRick did. I can't escape. I'm
gonna have to accept. I agree. I think only only the craziest of
the crazy person who doesn't use logicwould keep going. I think everyone would

(57:19):
eventually cave. You know, youwould eventually give up, right, I
don't know. Eventually you have tomake peace with your situation. And that's
what he did when he when hethrew all that away, he he he
made He wasn't happy about it.He you know, this wasn't a joyous
moment, orny thing. But hemade peace with his situation. And we

(57:43):
all have to do that. Youknow, even if we're in a bad
situation, you know, to surviveit, you have to make peace with
it exactly. That's exactly it.That's exactly what he did. It's so
crazy, it's like so crazy tothink about it. Like he literally came
to that decision. He like thoughtabout it. He had this whole memory
from childhood and kind of like gavehim myself a reason to move forward.

(58:07):
And he just totally blows up inhis face. Literally. Yeah, and
I am really curious about those whistlerthings. Yeah, maybe they'll show us,
Yeah, because that's a new weapon. M hm. So I'm curious
me too. But of course thegore was on pire with the Walking Dead.

(58:32):
I mean we've got you know,Oca fort chest but basically exploding or
his neck a rubber hit him.Yeah, we got the blood, the
gore, the Walker. Yeah thatI gotta tell you. For the cinematography
of it, even you know, the the Walker that was on fire,

(58:55):
you know, the the ember.I really it was actually really well done.
It was, Yeah, it waswell done. It really was.
So I agree this whole thing,I mean, from you know, from
the from small details to big stuff. They did it well. They put
it together well, it made sense, It flowed nicely. You know,

(59:17):
it didn't it wasn't it was.It didn't feel forced or glitchy. I
was really happy and very happy forthat matter. I'm glad they took a
long time to work on this, you know. Yeah, I think they
made the right choice with going Andwe talked about this before. We thought
a TV show might be better thanthree stupid movies or whatever they were trying

(59:38):
to do Originally, this was definitelythe better choice. I can tell out
the gate. I mean, evenif every episode isn't perfect, I think
it's gonna be a hell of alot better than what we've been getting.
Oh god, yeah, I meanthis. I mean they set that bar
really high. Mm hmm. Youknow, and I do kind of remember

(59:59):
back when you know the world beyondthat first episode, We're like, Okay,
it's pretty good, and then everythingwent downhill from there. It tanks
so fast, it tanks episode two. You and I are like, what
happened? Yeah, Like wtf? What you know? So I don't think

(01:00:19):
that that's what this show is gonnado. Well, it's happened to us
before. But I mean with youknow, with Ricky Michaud being the showrunners
on this, I just I can'timagine them going, yeah, we're gonna
screw over our characters. They lovethese characters, they do, right,
They both you know, in interviewsand stuff, they both said that,

(01:00:39):
you know, they love these thesecharacters and they don't want to do them
wrong. And I believe them metoo. I believe them. They want
the fans to get what they want. Like even finally taking off ricks are
hand It wasn't the same as whatthe comics was, but they got that
hand off, Yeah, they did, you know, so we're kind of

(01:01:00):
swerving back into the original comics anduh yeah, and with an axe even
you cut it off with an axe, just like in the in the comics,
so you know, little you know, nod to the comics there.
The ones who Live is all aboutfan service. I believe it's about fan
service and giving us the treat wedeserved after so long miserable, and I

(01:01:28):
appreciate it. This is our reward. This is our reward. This is
our reward for slogging through eleven years. Yeah, of the Walking Dad,
this is our payoff, you know. And now these other shows, they're
either gonna improve or they better justcut it off because now you know,
Dale Dixon and Dead City, theyhave a higher standard. Yeah, try

(01:01:53):
to meet now. Yeah, Imean when we were comparing him against the
you know, fear of the WalkingDead, Stellar Man and again still Wade
Stellar compared to some of the thingsthat they have dished us out. But
no, I mean the out ofthe gate. This was a good show.

(01:02:15):
Yeah, there's a good episode.Yay. I'm so happy. I'm
doing a happy dance, like ifI could, I would. Yeah,
I was in my mind. I'mdoing it right now. Well at you

(01:02:58):
of these episodes more than twice.Well, you see, I had this
plan, and then there was anepic quest for the lost remote that my
ADHD boyfriend lost. It took ustwo hours to find the remote and my
my TV doesn't have any buttons.I couldn't even turn my TV off unless

(01:03:21):
I unplugged it without the remote.Okay, so I'm dying to know where
was the remote behind the trash cannedunder the bed lord, have mercy?
Yeah, I don't even know howit got there. I mean it had
to go. I don't know howweird. You know, He's like,

(01:03:42):
I put it on the shelf.Obviously you did not. If you had
put it in its spot, there'sno way that it could go there,
you know, three feet from whereyou say it was. So anyway,
pro tip, I don't know ifdo you have a chrome Cast? Is
that what you use? Uh?No? No, okay. I was
gonna say, if you had achrome Cast and you have an Android phone,

(01:04:04):
you can literally operate your chrome castfrom your cell phone. Well,
see I do have Okay, letme say I do have chrome cast,
all right, but it's not inmy room. Chrome cast is in the
in the we else where. Mikeand Chris, you are at the spare
room. So if they weren't livinghere, I could have gone in there

(01:04:27):
and just watched it in there. But no, so it was a whole
I'm like, where did you?Yeah, it's a big ordeal. It
was a whole big thing. Soyeah, I didn't actually start watching it
until like eight thirty nine o'clock andI had to work today, so yeah,
I never did get to watch this. I had. I had this

(01:04:48):
plan. The plan did not didnot go right. So you can be
watched now if you want. Sobefore we go, guys, just heads
up. Next week, we willnot be here on Monday. I will
be out of the country, sohaving a good time. I'm very jealous.

(01:05:09):

We don't want to do that.Oh come, I just get just I
can fold and throw me in thedoor. You know, I'm not even
asking to be carry on okay, okay, just the biggest like twenty nine
inch luggage or thirty inch luggage Ican find. Yeah. Yeah, And

(01:05:31):
