Captain (00:14):
we're here, we're back
we're back.
Wilson (00:18):
I'm not rusty this time,
I know.
Captain (00:19):
Last time we I was
rusty um, I think the last ones
were fun.
Wilson (00:27):
Oh, they were fun.
I just felt like I struggled toget like how does this work?
Captain (00:33):
I mean, you know, I'm
like lost without the script
which?
I know I say it, like I've saidit 170 times, but I still like
need to read the words, Like Idon't know what's wrong with me,
but I like legit cannot do thatintro without reading it.
Wilson (00:50):
It should be second
nature at this point.
Captain (00:52):
I know, but I like
stress and freak out.
I'm like uh, uh, I don't knowwhat are we talking about?
Where are we?
Yeah, that's really what itfeels like Okay, so I heard we
have a movie star in ourpresence.
Where are we?
Yeah, that's really what itfeels like Okay, so I heard we
have a movie star in ourpresence.
Wilson (01:10):
That's a strong word,
but yeah, so I think actually
did I talk about it in aprevious podcast.
Captain (01:17):
You did briefly talk
about it, so someone like
investigated.
Yeah, maybe you don't have tosay that that project is the
same as this project becauseit's not, it's not totally
different, unrelated yeah, sothis week I was a background
(01:39):
extra in a movie they werefilming here.
Wilson (01:42):
You gotta put the little
clap sound.
Captain (01:43):
Yeah, so there were.
Like they were filming here, you've got to put the little
clap sound.
Wilson (01:47):
Yeah, so there were like
30 of us.
I think we had to be there at 5am and I got home at 8 pm.
Jesus, it was a lot of standingand a lot of waiting.
I was technically in, I think, four scenes, but we'll see if
(02:10):
you can actually see me in thoseor if they include the scenes.
Captain (02:14):
How far away from the
camera were you?
Wilson (02:20):
Usually, like in most
cases, it really is just the
background, Like there's, Idon't, I mean I don't know, like
20 feet, like somewhere aroundthere Are you facing, or is it
like the back of your head?
I know for a couple I was atleast it was like the back of me
(02:40):
, yeah, I don't know it was, butuh, overall it was.
It was really cool just to see.
Like you know, it sounds likethey do usually three to five
takes of the same scene.
Um, the only thing that gotreally annoying is, uh, so they,
they filmed a scene, they didlike five takes and then I guess
(03:04):
they wanted to try the scenefrom different angles, so they
did that three more times wherethey did five takes, completely
shifted the room around, likereplaced the actors, did it.
Five more takes, shifted theroom.
Captain (03:19):
And you have to just
stay where you are.
Wilson (03:21):
Yeah, to stay where you
are.
Yeah, but for those scenes inthe background I'm supposed to
be like uh fighting with uhsomebody or okay, um, wow,
you're like acting well, it'slike I don't know if you can
even see, but um so I I fightwith him for a second and then I
walk across the room.
Captain (03:40):
So I had to walk across
the room like 50 or you know uh
20 times, okay, but like that'slike you're not just like
sitting at a cafe, you're likedoing uh, like activities yeah,
I don't know we'll.
Wilson (03:54):
Yeah, we'll see.
There's like a scene I had tocarry a crowbar while they were
like pushing a box along and Ilooked.
I felt like I looked like I wason an angry mob.
Like how do you carry a crowbar and not look aggressive?
Captain (04:09):
yeah, I'm picturing
like the sharks and the jets
from what's that?
Wilson (04:17):
called west side story.
Captain (04:18):
I haven't seen that,
but jesus, you're like 50 years
late I know, yeah, but I don'tknow how you carry that in a way
where you're like la-di-da, Idon't know, but that's like so
exciting that you're like Idon't know.
When you say background actor,I like legitimately imagine
you're like sitting at a cafeoutside or like literally
(04:41):
walking down the sidewalk, Like, but you're like I don't know.
Wilson (04:45):
I mean, that is sort of
like it was a smallish space,
but that is sort of what it waslike, you know yeah, but you had
movie props dude and a wardrobeuh you didn't even say there's
a wardrobe.
Captain (04:59):
How is that?
Did you get movie makeup?
Wilson (05:02):
uh, no, they didn't put
any makeup on.
They did like they lined up allthe extras because I had to
grow up my facial hair andthey're like.
She like went through the line, pointed at me and she's like
you're fine, as is, go to thislady and she'll touch up your
hair.
I guess they just didn't needto shave my beard, but they did
(05:23):
just style my hair a little bit.
That was it.
Captain (05:26):
Hmm, was there anybody
that was like rejected in the
line?
Wilson (05:31):
Not that I've seen,
because, like you, basically
submit to or like apply to bepart of it.
Captain (05:36):
Right.
Wilson (05:37):
So I think, as long as
you didn't come in with dyed
hair, they were fine.
Captain (05:41):
Oh, okay.
Wilson (05:42):
Yeah.
I guess people that had likepiercings might have had to take
those out, probably.
Yeah, I think that was part ofthe thing they're like.
No piercings no, no jewelry,wow.
But yeah, I didn't.
Captain (05:57):
I didn't talk to the
star, but like I was really
close to him, dude, I told you,if that were me I'd be so
annoying I'd be like, oh my god,it's you they specifically say
in the instructions do not askthem for an autograph.
Like oh, I don't think I woulddo that, I don't think I'd ask
them for an autograph, but Idefinitely would be like it's
(06:18):
you yeah it's you, I mean, yeah,I don't know how I wouldn't.
I mean, I feel like it's thesame thing with that thing we
did in college where they werelike they did all the concerts
but they were like you can't bea fan if you want to do this
group and I was like okay, Ilike legit.
What am I supposed to do not belike?
(06:40):
Oh my god, it's Rihanna.
Like what the fuck?
Like?
I'm a normal person, I'm notlike a robot, I don't know, I
just like I don't know.
That's just very strange.
It's hard for me to.
It would be hard for me to turnthat off like I don't know.
Wilson (06:58):
Yeah, I kind of thought
I would be like very starstruck,
but it was like fine.
I mean, it's so exciting to seelike, oh, you know, that person
I saw on tv is right there, um,but I didn't get like weirdly
anxious and I expected to getthat way did you get any tea.
Captain (07:13):
Like was somebody like
really rude or really nice, or
um.
Wilson (07:18):
About the actors no um
what's that?
Mean or sorry, there was likethere was drama when I left
because, like these people werefreaking out because one of the
background actors left two and ahalf hours early, didn't tell
anyone and didn't return hiswardrobe um, they were like they
were pretty, uh pretty hot andbothered about that yeah, but
(07:40):
don't you give them, like all, your contact information oh yeah
, like they would absolutelyhave charged him for that
wardrobe.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I don'tyou give them like all your
contact information.
Captain (07:47):
Oh yeah, like they
would absolutely have charged
him for that wardrobe.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I don'tknow people are weird about like
stupid, about not thinking thatthat's like a job, but it's
like no, you really do have todo that yeah and like, what was
your plan for this?
Wilson (08:00):
yeah?
Captain (08:01):
and, based on what I
know about the movie, I don't
know why you necessarily likewant that wardrobe that he might
have had on.
Wilson (08:07):
So I mean, maybe it cost
a good chunk of money.
Captain (08:11):
I don't know but oh,
maybe still well, that's so
exciting, it's like time foryour imbd.
This is like so cool are you?
Wilson (08:21):
gonna do more now that
you're like in the system um, I
I want to, but not for a while, because, like the last two hours
of the day, I was like I'mready to get out of here, like
yeah, 5 am to 8 pm is bad yeah, yeah, and they like kept
pre-doing this one scene and Idon't know I was like I still
(08:43):
have to get bussed back to likethe original location and I
still have to return my wardrobe, and then I still have to drive
home.
I was just like I'm tired.
Captain (08:55):
Well, I mean, that's
exciting.
When, when is this?
2026 or yeah?
Wilson (09:00):
2026.
Yeah, I, I kind of get thefeeling it'll be like direct to
streaming, but who knows?
Captain (09:07):
the background actors
get their name in the credits I
think, I think, you do I meannobody stays for that part.
Wilson (09:16):
But like, I feel, like
I've seen a movie credits where
they say like you know, cafepatron or background something
or other yeah, but like theycan't do that for every movie,
right, like the movie that we'redoing next week.
Captain (09:30):
Like that had like
2,000 background actors.
Wilson (09:34):
Like for the next part,
that's true, Like they can't do
that for every movie.
Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know how that works.
Captain (09:41):
I'll have to look at
the law.
The law, oh that's, I don'tknow.
Wilson (09:43):
I don't know how that
works.
Captain (09:44):
I have to look at the
law.
The law.
That's exciting.
I want you to do more, yeah.
Wilson (09:51):
I got like a mini selfie
in the costume, but it's also
like while I was trying to hidemy phone in my lap, so obviously
from that angle I just likelook terrible.
Captain (10:02):
I was going to say send
it, but that's okay.
Wilson (10:08):
Um well, okay, pop off,
okay I mean you could look up,
like I'm sure they film a ton ofthings I know they do, they do
like that.
Captain (10:19):
I mean I would.
I really, really wish I I hadseen the dexterxter one far in
advance where I could haveplanned for it, because I would
have legit gone all the way toNew York if I could be there.
But I would be a menace 100%.
If Michael C Hall was near meit would be game over, I'd be
escorted off.
Wilson (10:40):
They'd kick you off
because you're like stop staring
at him in the scenes.
That's the thing I be likelooking over my shoulder, like I
just I don't know it would bebad.
It would be like unfun it'd belike whispering to the other
background extras, like that'smichael ceo dude.
Captain (11:00):
If I heard him say
tonight's tonight, I would
literally lose it.
I would.
Wilson (11:05):
They'd have to cut, like
do you think that's like Dude?
If I heard him say tonight'sthe night, I would literally
lose it.
They'd have to cut.
Do you think that's somethingthat runs rampant during his
sets?
He says tonight's the night andthen just half the extras, just
pass out.
Captain (11:19):
Yeah, they just have
the medic carts ready.
Wilson (11:22):
Yeah.
Captain (11:24):
I don't know.
He probably hears it all thetime.
He'd probably be really annoyedabout it.
Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
He probably hears all the time.
He'd probably be really annoyedabout it.
But I don't know, I would.
Wilson (11:27):
Just it's like I don't
know it's worth it yeah it's
like, it's like how do I not dothat?
I don't know, but I guess it'dbe a good story.
Captain (11:38):
Like I got kicked off
the dexter set yeah, it'd be
like when we went to it,wouldn't?
Well, it'd be worse than this, but when we went to that
cinephile thing and that ladykept screaming at me that I was
taking pictures of the lady oh,the like comic-con thing.
Yeah, but it wasn't that, but Iwas like she's like legitimately
(12:01):
in public like I'm taking aphoto of her from like 50 feet
away and there's like agazillion other heads in there
and I'm getting yelled at aboutthese photos.
Like no one can even figure outwho this is in this photo.
There's no way you can makemoney on that picture, yeah this
is like from my memories, likewhere am I putting this?
She's like screaming at me Notthe big of a deal, girl, but
(12:23):
okay, yeah, yeah.
Not the big of a deal, girl, but okay, yeah, yeah.
Wilson (12:31):
But it would be worse
than a movie set, but that does
remind me.
So there's a steel city con.
They do like three a year here,um, but there's another one
there's another one happening, Ithink in august, and the the
current lineup is like prettygood.
Um, I don't know if you'd makeyour way here at that time, but
uh I like why?
Captain (12:51):
why do they do so many?
Wilson (12:54):
I, I don't know.
I guess they figured out.
People come to them I guessthat's, true but they have like
uh, what where?
Captain (13:02):
do you see where?
Do you see where when they arelike oh august.
Where do you see when they areLike oh August 8th that weekend?
Wilson (13:09):
8th to 10th yeah.
Captain (13:13):
I'm not doing anything
right now.
You don't say, oh, is it allthese people Gatan from Stranger
Things?
And then below.
Yeah, who are these people?
Wilson (13:33):
Hank Azaria is in a lot
of things.
I think you'd recognize him,and his voice is very distinct.
Captain (13:40):
It looks like it's
probably a bad picture of him.
And then John Cusack I've heardthat like I know who that is
yeah, john snyder was insmallville and dukes of hazard I
don't know, I don't know whozoe perry is, um mary louise
parker.
Wilson (13:57):
I mean, we know her from
.
Captain (13:58):
Oh my god, I didn't
even really recognize her.
Amy smart looks familiar, butshe kind of just looks like
Cameron Diaz a little bit.
Wilson (14:07):
I can see that.
Captain (14:09):
Wilson, I don't know
these people.
Who the fuck is?
Eric Bischoff?
Wilson (14:14):
Eric, I don't know, bish
, something about wrestling.
It looks like.
Captain (14:25):
I mean, I don't think
you care about this, but Steve
Downs plays the voice of MasterChief from Halo and Sir, Sir,
Sir, what I know, If you like, played me a clip of Halo and you
told me guess this video gamelike I legitimately.
(14:49):
I have no idea.
Wilson (14:50):
I would be, totally
guessing.
Yeah, yeah, I mean, jay mightright.
Captain (14:55):
No, he would, yeah he
would know what's the one that
we went to.
I can't remember what it wascalled.
It was like AlienCon or Out ofSpace GalaxyCon.
Wilson (15:03):
Okay, so you're close.
Captain (15:05):
I was really close.
I saw that at GalaxyCon.
I don't know if you've seenthat, but there's been a bunch
of clips from the one that wasthis year the guy that did Crazy
Steve in Drake and Josh and hewas the brother in iCarly.
Wilson (15:29):
That guy?
Captain (15:29):
Oh, jerry Trainor josh,
and he was the brother in he
was the brother in I, carly, oh,oh uh, jerry trainer.
Yeah, he was the.
He was like the big talk personat galaxy con this year.
Um, I think, because I've seenclips and it was like hashtag
galaxy con, so um it's a.
Wilson (15:44):
Those are good
conventions.
Oh, there's a bunch of them,sorry.
Captain (15:48):
No, it's not just
Richmond, yeah there's a bunch
of them, so he must have been atsome other one probably.
Wilson (15:53):
Richmond's still a
fairly big one.
Captain (15:58):
Dude, they do these
everywhere New Orleans, raleigh,
san Jose.
He was probably in the one inCali.
To be honest, I didn't realizethey were everywhere, okay, well
, anyway, I was like I'd kind ofgo see him, yeah.
But okay, are we?
Sorry, we're getting really offtopic.
Wilson (16:16):
I don't know how long
we've been talking We've
probably been talking a while.
15 minutes, okay, it's not bad.
Captain (16:22):
Okay, but we're excited
for you.
Wilson (16:27):
Yeah, it's good stuff.
Whenever it's out, I'll befirst in line.
Captain (16:35):
Definitely screenshot
your name in the creds.
Wilson (16:38):
The creds?
Yeah, I don't have any.
There's a really good chance.
You will never see me in thatmovie.
Captain (16:45):
Did you tell your
brother?
Wilson (16:47):
Yeah, I did yeah.
Captain (16:48):
What did he say I?
Wilson (16:49):
thought it was pretty
cool.
My mom's very excited too.
Your eye roll, that tracks.
I mean I'm happy, she's excited.
I need a hype man like that.
Captain (17:02):
I feel like if I told
my parents I was a background
actor, I don't think I'd get anyexcitement from I don't think
they would.
I don't know.
I think they'd be like okay.
Wilson (17:13):
Can I watch it?
Captain (17:14):
Yeah, it would depend
on what type of movie or who was
in it, I think.
Wilson (17:19):
Do you want to pop in?
Captain (17:20):
Yeah, yeah, you got
your alcoholic beverage
Beveragino.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, you're,you got your alcoholic beverage,
beverage, beverage, you know?
Uh, yeah, beverage, gina, that's fun got me a kona.
Wilson (17:31):
Uh, I wanted to actually
have something like a cocktail,
but I didn't have anything tomix it with, so what was that
thing?
Captain (17:39):
that?
Um, uh, oh man, what's her namefor the podcast?
Lieutenant?
She was like my mixer's justwater.
I don't know if you rememberthat.
I don't know if you rememberthat I was like that's
disgusting.
Wilson (17:54):
Yeah.
Captain (17:55):
But these are college
days and not college people
anymore.
Wilson (17:59):
Yeah, I would never do
that again.
Captain (18:02):
Yeah, sometimes I think
about the things that I was
doing and I was like like ew,who was that?
Wilson (18:12):
like I get that's a time
for like just doing things.
Captain (18:13):
But nasty times.
I can't even smell cinnamonanymore, because red fireball is
just you wait, you don't likecinnamon at all anymore I mean I
can like, I mean I can likedeal with like regular ground
cinnamon from a little but notlike big red gum or like oh no,
hot cinnamon hot cinnamondisgusting hot cinnamon vomit
(18:36):
like I cannot.
Fireball is I.
I even even like imagining thebottle is giving me chills like
it's just.
It's that bad.
Wilson (18:46):
I don't think I ever got
sick on fireball.
It's like ciders.
I can't drink anymore, like Iwon't touch them, even though I
loved them in college.
Captain (18:54):
Yeah oh, long time ago.
Anyway, okay, you want to jumpin here.
Sorry, I keep gettingdistracted.
Okay, tell me what we gotalright, we got.
Wilson (19:05):
All right, we got.
Captain (19:10):
Not rusty huh.
Wilson (19:12):
No, no, no.
Welcome to the 169th episode ofthe Red Rum Podcast, where we
review horror movies whileenjoying an adult beverage or
two, and I'm Captain.
And I'm Wilson review horrormovies while enjoying an adult
beverage or two and I'm captainand I'm wilson, and this week
we're reviewing the 2009american psychological horror
film deadline one of manydeadlines oh yeah, definitely
(19:38):
2009 yeah, while we werewatching it, because I didn't
look at the year until we werelike halfway through, I didn't
know when it took place.
Captain (19:48):
Yeah, when you said
2022, I was like what the fuck
are you on?
Wilson (19:53):
Apple TV thought it was
some other movie, clearly,
because there was also.
It was deadline period 2022.
I was like how posthumously wasthis released?
No, no.
Captain (20:06):
They did not drag her
out of the grave over a decade
later.
Wilson (20:08):
I was like how
posthumously was this released?
Captain (20:09):
No, they did not drag
her out of the grave over a
decade later.
No no 2009.
And then I don't know if yousaw but the director for this
movie is not clickable but hehas a small IMBD page that he
had some stuff on there.
Wilson (20:25):
Okay, did he do some
stuff on there?
Okay, did he do anything else?
Captain (20:29):
I guess I should know
that.
As far as I found, not really.
Wilson (20:35):
Are you telling me this
was his first and last movie?
Captain (20:39):
Well, this movie was
produced.
It's called an independent film, but it was produced by some
company in Malaysia.
I don't really know what thatmeans, like that KCU studio
thing that we were.
Wilson (20:52):
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Captain (20:53):
Yeah, it's like some
company in Malaysia.
Wilson (20:56):
Okay.
Well, he has three moviescoming up.
Captain (21:01):
What.
Wilson (21:01):
Yeah.
Captain (21:02):
Who I mean?
What are they?
Wilson (21:11):
The Last Moon up.
What, yeah, who I mean?
What are they um, the last moon?
Is this the same seanmcconville?
I yeah it says he like, yes, this was his only film.
Captain (21:16):
Uh, wait a second it's
a different sean mcconville, huh
oh, no, sorry, I got thesections mixed.
Wilson (21:24):
He is the director for
three upcoming films and he well
, he was a producer for threefilms.
But that's not what we'relooking at.
Captain (21:33):
Where do you see?
Oh, upcoming, I didn't click onthat, okay.
I mean, these look like theseare like short films, these
titles Maybe.
The car short films, thesetitles, maybe the car?
Wilson (21:49):
the last moon black sky.
Captain (21:51):
I mean, if that's not a
short film, I don't know what
is isn't that bird movie um dark?
Wilson (21:59):
skies or something dark
sky I mean that that's basically
the that was a feature film.
Captain (22:05):
What's that movie
called with Sandra Bullock in
the blindfold?
Is that Blackbird?
Wilson (22:09):
Oh Bird Box.
Captain (22:11):
Hmm, close enough.
Wilson (22:13):
Yeah, yeah, okay, so
that was Sean McConville.
Captain (22:19):
Yeah.
Wilson (22:20):
Yep All right, shawnee
boy All right.
So, moving into the cast, wehave Brittany Murphy as Alice.
Evans For the longest time, Ithink shortly after she passed.
I really thought I got her andBrittany Snow confused and I
didn't know the difference.
Captain (22:40):
Oh, that's fair
actually.
Wilson (22:41):
Yeah, I mean, they look
different, but what?
Captain (22:47):
Pup, she's trying to
get as close as she can to me,
but it's not that close.
Oh, like since you're in thekitchen?
Yeah, she's just sat on thecouch in the closest spot.
She can but like hoping thatI'll come over there.
She'll be fine.
Tough luck, pup yeah.
Sorry, continue like hopingthat I'll come over.
So you're fine, tough luck.
(23:08):
Yeah, sorry continue.
Uh, so she was ty and cluelessthis is where I met her in
clueless oh, you met her, wereyou a background actress?
Wilson (23:17):
uh uh, lisa and drop
dead gorgeous um, alex, yeah,
alex, and eight mile and gloriaand happy feet, lisa in Drop
Dead.
Captain (23:22):
Gorgeous Both of those
were 99, yeah.
Wilson (23:26):
Alex in 8 Mile.
Gloria in Happy Feet.
I know I saw Happy Feet.
I don't remember much Well herbiggest role is the last one.
Captain (23:38):
You didn't say.
Wilson (23:39):
Luanne from King of the
Hills.
Is that the niece?
Captain (23:42):
I think so yeah, the
one with the crop top?
I think I guess so.
Or the ugly blonde haircut, theniece, I think so.
Wilson (23:46):
Yeah, the one with the
crop top?
I think I guess so.
Or the ugly blonde haircut.
Captain (23:48):
Yeah, yeah, yeah but
she's in, like you know, 300
episodes of that show orsomething damn okay.
Wilson (23:53):
I I wonder who's
replacing her, because king of
the hills coming back did youwatch the show side effects at
all?
Captain (24:03):
sorry?
Oh common side effects sorry ohwait do we talk about this?
Wilson (24:08):
because, um, it was like
it showed up on our watch list.
I don't remember why I added it, but we did watch like four
episodes so far yeah, it has thevoice from the king of the hill
guy.
Oh, um, yeah, uh, the guy whocreated.
Yeah sorry, mike Judge, he didBeavis and.
Butthead, I think that's hisshow.
Captain (24:32):
Okay, well, the guy
that does Hank voices again.
Wilson (24:39):
I first.
I watched Simpsons early on,but I first figured out who Mike
Judge was from Spy Kids 2,where he played Mr Giggles.
Captain (24:58):
His most prominent role
, for sure.
Wilson (25:00):
Yeah, Donaghan Giggles.
Captain (25:03):
Jesus Christ.
Wilson (25:04):
He was a bad guy.
Have you not seen those movies?
Captain (25:07):
I did, but but, dude, I
haven't seen a movie since.
It was like legit, like it cameout like when are you watching
spy kids?
Wilson (25:15):
two anytime recently
well, okay, first, that's the
best spy kids um first of allbitch um, but actually he was in
all three apparently, but Ithink he was the big thing in
two.
Captain (25:28):
Now you're not
answering my question.
Wilson (25:32):
I mean, I haven't, I
think the last time I watched it
, okay, at least 10 years ago,but I do want to watch it again
soon.
Captain (25:40):
Yeah, now you're kind
of making me want to watch it.
Wilson (25:43):
I think only one and two
are worth watching.
Captain (25:46):
I know I say this all
the time but I always mix up Spy
Kids and Sharkboy and Lavagirl.
Wilson (25:53):
I can see why.
I mean I think they're bothRobert Rodriguez, like he's the
director, and Spy Kids 3 looks alot like Sharkboy and Lavagirl,
with all the CGI.
Captain (26:07):
I think Spy Kids 3.
I can, I can't remember.
I have to watch them.
I don't do my letterbox aletterbox, wait.
Wilson (26:15):
So what wait?
But what were you gonna askabout spy kids 3?
Captain (26:19):
well, you're like, I am
an expert, you have an expert
on the line.
Wilson (26:23):
I'm just curious.
Captain (26:24):
No, the scene where the
guy or the kid is falling in
the infinity tunnel.
Wilson (26:31):
That's Spy Kids 2, and
he fell in a volcano.
Captain (26:35):
Okay, Zero points.
I lost trivia.
I don't know what to tell you.
Okay anyway.
Wilson (26:43):
Why are we on Spy Kids?
Was there a question there oryou were just saying a scene?
Captain (26:47):
you remembered.
That's the most prominent sceneI remember.
Wilson (26:51):
Oh yeah, Okay, yes.
Captain (26:55):
That's Brittany Murphy.
Wilson (26:58):
That is Brittany Murphy.
We have Thora Birch, who ismost known for playing the
little sister in Hocus Pocus, but she was also in American
Beauty.
I think she was the star, likethe girl on the cover.
Captain (27:13):
Oh is she?
I think she might be.
Wilson (27:16):
Unless I'm mixing her up
with someone else.
Captain (27:18):
Oh no, actually I think
you might be right.
Well, there's not a face on thecover, it's like just an
abdomen.
Wilson (27:24):
Oh yeah.
Okay, you're right, but I thinkshe does play like the the main
girl I think so let me seewho's in this thor birch is also
some role in walking dead.
Captain (27:35):
That was significant,
like I think she was in like 10
episodes, but either I didn'twatch that far or I don't
remember her role oh yeah, Iforgot you like shotgunned that
entire, that entire series, yeah, and then we dropped it off the
time that everybody elsedropped off Walking Dead.
And she plays Lucy in thismovie, which I don't think you
(27:58):
said.
Wilson (27:59):
Oh right.
Captain (28:00):
Yeah, yeah.
Wilson (28:02):
Then we have Tammy
Blanchard as Rebecca.
She was first known for playingJudy Garland in the television
film Life with Judy Garland from2000.
Nope, no from the other movie.
Captain (28:14):
Yeah, way back and then
, but more recently she was in
the Invitation.
I can never remember.
Did we do that for the podcast?
Wilson (28:20):
The Invitation.
It sounds like a movie thatwe've done.
Captain (28:25):
I think I've seen it.
Wilson (28:27):
The cover does not look
done.
I think I've seen it.
The cover does not lookfamiliar.
Captain (28:30):
I think I watched it
streaming just for funsy one
time, but it sounds like everyother early mid-2000s movie.
Wilson (28:39):
Yeah, I can tell you.
Let me search our scriptsreally quick.
It does not look like we have.
Captain (28:46):
Damn, this is 2022.
Ooh, terrible reviews Okay.
Wilson (28:52):
Surprise, surprise.
Captain (28:54):
Surprise, surprise.
Wilson (28:57):
Then we have Mark Lucas
as David Woods.
He's most known as Riley fromBuffy the Vampire Slayer and
Matthew in Necessary Roughness.
I've not heard of that.
I don't know.
He was in a show, the andMatthew in Necessary Roughness.
I've not heard of that.
Captain (29:08):
I don't know.
He was in a.
The show's called NecessaryRoughness.
I don't know anything about it,but he was the main role.
That's why I wrote it in there.
You watch Buffy right.
Wilson (29:19):
No, but it's on my list.
Captain (29:20):
I don't know when I'll
ever get to it because I like
the shows around that timeperiod charmed charmed but they
were like both cw shows yeah, and you're smallville ass over
there with your yep also cwcould not get in, not get into
it, um, anyway.
So yeah, we have our like maincharacters alice, her friend,
(29:44):
becca friend, and then the lucyand david who are the couple
that she's like living throughyes um small cast very small
cast, um.
Wilson (29:58):
So the movie starts off
with alice.
This is britney murphy'scharacter.
She needs to complete ascreenplay, um, and so she goes
to this like house that thiscreepy guy they know owns yeah,
they said, a friend, a slimyfriend, owns it yeah, and she's
(30:18):
going so she can focus andfinish her screenplay.
Um, and she really wants tostay alone and and her friend
Rebecca agrees and leaves herthere During all these intro
scenes.
I'm like this is a littlelesbian coded.
Captain (30:36):
Yeah, I mean we both
were kind of getting that vibe
Because Becca is like I justdon't want you to be lonely and
I'm going to miss you so much.
I'm like the way that she'ssaying this is not just like a
friend letting her, dropping heroff for the weekend.
Yeah, yeah.
Wilson (30:52):
And then I think
whenever they started like
tickling each other on the bed,I was like roommates or best
friends, do not do this.
And then I think right afterthat we found out there are a
couple.
Captain (31:02):
It's a little out of
order, but it's there's like no
of order, but it it's there'slike no, it doesn't add to the
plot.
Yeah, she says like I wastelling you, like she literally
says like I'm gonna miss youlike seven times and then she
leaves a note saying like I'mgonna miss you, I'm like girl,
she knows we know, she knows umand also uh like.
(31:23):
From the very jump of this moviethey throw a camcorder in your
face everywhere, like becca hasa camcorder, alice uses the
camcorder and then later onthere's even more camcorder.
I'm like people in 2009 did notwalk around like this.
I know that movies around thistime period love to portray it
like that, but I swear peoplewere not walking around like
(31:44):
that, filming everything rightyeah, I mean I think we
eventually find out like he hassome psychological problems.
Wilson (31:51):
But even still, like
this is an early on red flag,
like if your partner was justlike had a camera in your face
24-7.
Captain (32:01):
Yeah, no thanks I'm
like.
Wilson (32:02):
No, I mean, I guess
that's what a lot of YouTube
people do, but no Like andsubscribe, like and subscribe,
like and subscribe.
Captain (32:10):
But Alice, basically,
yeah, she's like hanging out
with Becca or whatever, but thenshe's like no, I need you to
leave, I want to focus on myscreenplay, I want to like be
here by myself and she likeforces to send her away in the
car, like she doesn't even havea car to get out of there.
So she's like stuck there andthen you didn't mention it, but
(32:32):
like she packs a gun, whichBecca really didn't want her to
pack a gun.
But she packs a gun, as far aswe see, because she knows she's
going to be out in the middle ofnowhere by herself.
So that gun was huge, Like Idon't know.
It looked really big in herhands.
It looked like it was like madeof foam, which maybe, probably
(32:52):
probably was but um but yeah, sowe see all that, and then the
house is like really loud andcreaky.
Wilson (33:00):
It makes a bunch of
noises, which leads to her
having like nightmares prettymuch immediately yeah, I know
like I think part of like thismovie gets a little too
heavy-handed with the ghostystuff too early and I know I've
complained about other movies.
They take too long.
But like one scene she turnsaway from a mirror and then it's
(33:20):
only visible to the audience oflike a ghost profile appearing
in the mirror yeah, it was weirdI mean I liked they gave us
like two fake outs of like hergetting towards the mirror and
like opening and closing it.
Captain (33:33):
Like they faked us out
twice with that that nothing
popped into it.
Um, but then something stillwent into it after she was gone
which was like, if you're notgonna do it, don't do it.
Wilson (33:44):
Like definitely a little
strange so I think while she's
like poking around the house, you know, investigating some of
these noises, she comes acrossor she gets scared and bumps a
shelf and this fake book fallsoff and all of these like video
camera tapes fall out she's um,she's like, led to the attic by
like wet footprints in the dirtyass floor that's.
Captain (34:07):
I don't know if you
remember it was like oh yes, yes
, yeah never really figured outwhat those footprints were.
Um, but around the same timethat she finds these videotapes
oh well, yeah, you can talkabout the videotapes, but she
also finds out ben's out ofprison, like around the same
time oh yeah, so this is her umex-boyfriend who we find out and
(34:29):
she's not remembering this.
Wilson (34:30):
Rebecca had to remind
her that he what she was
pregnant and then he tried tokill her, uh, like drown her in
a tub.
Captain (34:39):
She survived, but um
the she miscarried yeah, and she
basically says like uh, or webasically find out that you know
the reason why is?
He swore it wasn't his baby.
So that's why the meltdownhappens.
Wilson (34:56):
Yes, but I guess he went
to prison for that, yeah, and
also got out kind of early.
Captain (35:00):
Yeah, attempted murder.
I don't understand yeah.
Wilson (35:05):
So she calls Rebecca,
saying like oh, oh, I'm hearing
things in the house, someone isin here, whatever.
She's like oh, okay, well, uh,go back to bed.
Captain (35:15):
It's 4 am and yeah,
she's so like, not like what's
the word.
It's not like patronizing, butshe's just like, I don't know
like demeans anything that shebrings any issue that she brings
up, she just brushes it off.
Wilson (35:30):
I know, I know she was
sent away, but your girlfriend
is in a house in the middle ofnowhere and she's hearing things
.
And her abusive ex-boyfriend.
Captain (35:41):
Just got out of prison.
Wilson (35:43):
Yeah, hello.
Captain (35:45):
And I know she says
like oh, if you don't call the
police, I will.
But how about you just call thepolice?
I'm home right now and I'm likewhat is happening here?
(36:05):
And then Alice goes from beinglike I'm scared and I don't know
what to do to being like againdetermined, like I'm going to
stay here.
Like what was this conversation?
Wilson (36:15):
Yeah.
Captain (36:16):
Very clunky.
Wilson (36:19):
Yeah, it was.
Captain (36:20):
And then she starts
watching the Lucy tapes.
Wilson (36:22):
Yes, and they're all
creepily labeled.
Captain (36:24):
Lucy is sleeping or
like Lucy eating yeah.
Wilson (36:30):
Yeah.
So she's watching all thesetapes and during this you get
the impression one the husbandin the tapes is a little weird,
with the camera always in herface, and he starts to get
suspicious very quickly that sheis cheating on him with someone
else yeah, so lucy, and we findout lucy and david are the
(36:51):
couple that used to live in thishouse before her friend bought
it.
Captain (36:55):
Um, and very quickly on
we we hear that they also are
pregnant and expecting.
But yes, he is highlysuspicious of of lucy pretty
much from the jump.
And Lucy also does not likebeing on camera.
Like she tells him stop puttingthat camera in my face, which
he just ignores.
Wilson (37:16):
Yeah.
And so at the one scene heconfronts Lucy like you were
talking to him on the phone andshe's like, no, I was talking to
your mom.
He even double checks, redialsthe number and it's his mom.
But then somehow he's, he'sjust like he's still super
suspicious.
Captain (37:35):
So he's a little
unhinged.
Wilson (37:36):
You can tell so far.
Captain (37:37):
Yeah yeah.
The weirdest scene of all ofthese tapes were like you can't
tell how much of it is real andhow much of it is in Alice's
head, but like she watches, there's that memory of her, of
lucy playing the piano, and like, while she is watching this,
while alice is watching this, she's like in the scene and lucy
(37:58):
turns around and says like stopfilming me.
Like she's a demon face, whichthat line is so awkward.
Like a demon never says stopfilming me.
Like what the fuck?
I don't know.
It's like a very weird and likewhy is lucy the evil ghost?
Wilson (38:14):
like well, I mean, I
don't know, I guess we've seen
weirder things yeah, I guessit's just like a weird fake out
or they don't want to give itaway too early that yeah I don't
know, um, so like.
Also, while she's trying towrite her screenplay, like weird
stuff is showing up in herlaptop, um.
(38:35):
But eventually she gets to atape where lucy is about to
leave her husband, at leasttemporarily.
He confronts her, does not lether leave, the tape stops.
So Alice goes looking aroundfor this missing tape because
(38:56):
there's an empty tape or acartridge.
So she does find it, and it theguy filmed the entire scene of
him drowning his wife, carryingher out to the backyard, burying
her in the ground and startingto hang himself.
Captain (39:12):
Yeah, yeah, and I don't
know if it's around the same
time that Alice was like, I'mgoing to embody Lucy.
She puts on Lucy's old red heelsher old dress that she finds in
the attic and then puts herfucking lipstick on.
I was like girl, girl, that'snasty.
And she wears her the littlenecklace that says lucy on it,
which is like I don't know again, like I don't know how much of
(39:35):
this is real and how much ofthis like is.
Is alice processing the traumashe went through with ben right,
because it's like like mirroredstories with these two couples?
But yeah, the embodying of Lucyis really weird and obviously
she's writing this screenplay, which she even says Lucy's going
(39:58):
to be my muse.
But I'm confused with the factthat she said I'm here to finish
my screenplay and it basicallysounds like she wrote a brand
new screenplay based on thiscouple.
So I'm like is it in her head?
If she's like I'm finishing itbecause she already was thinking
about this story, you know whatI mean.
Wilson (40:20):
Yeah.
Captain (40:22):
Or is it real, I don't
know.
Wilson (40:24):
I don't know.
I have my own thoughts about itokay um well, you can, we can
yeah, well, yeah so, um,basically so then alice goes out
to the yard, realizes or like, finds the grave, and then she
gets a phone call and it's Benand they have a surprisingly
(40:47):
healthy relationship where he'slike I'm really sorry, like I'm
going to leave you alone, I'mnot even there and you know.
Like you know, you're free,yeah.
Captain (41:00):
Don't worry about me,
I'm not coming for you or
something.
It's very, very strange.
I don't know how to feel aboutthat.
Wilson (41:09):
Yeah, I mean, I guess I
feel good about it, seeing as he
doesn't show up.
Captain (41:11):
he's not the one in the
house yeah, I just it's very
confusing, like why is that?
What is that scene supposed togive me?
Like it's all and it's likeit's all on alice I to me.
Wilson (41:23):
I think it's just like
giving us more evidence that
he's not the one in the house.
Okay, but I don't know.
So she's like no, I don'tbelieve you.
You're here, you've been movingthings around, they hang up.
She goes back inside, she playsthe rest of the tape because
(41:43):
she stopped it early.
Yeah, so he doesn't actually uh, so he's not actually hanged.
Um, his mom comes in, cuts himdown, uh and yeah, and then she
turns around and he's in thehouse and he's like lucy yeah,
because she's dressed exactlylike lucy.
(42:05):
Yeah, so she runs.
Of course he gets to her.
Her gun's not in her suitcaseanymore because Rebecca took it
out secretly.
Captain (42:15):
She said I can't leave
you alone with a gun.
Wilson (42:18):
Well, fair.
Captain (42:19):
I mean yeah.
Wilson (42:21):
So too many people's
names.
Who's the guy again?
David David.
Yes, he catches up to her, drowns her in the bathtub.
Too many people's names.
Who's the guy again?
David David.
Yes, he catches up to her, drowns her in the bathtub, wait.
Captain (42:35):
Right, yeah, he appears
to drown Alice in the bathtub
but, Lucy's ghost gets David outof there and, like I don't know
, jumps like, scares him, oreither pushes him over the
banister of the stairs and helike dies on the floor below,
which, again I don't know, jumpslike, scares him, or either
pushes him over the banister ofthe stairs and he like dies on
the floor below, which again, Idon't quite understand what's
going on there because he is notthere later on.
(42:55):
But yeah, essentially likeLucy's ghost saves Alice from
dying all the way and then Beccashows up.
Wilson (43:04):
Yeah, and she's like I
mean obviously distressed
because Alice is in an emptybathtub, but looks pretty sickly
yep passed out, um, and thenshe kind of helps, like try to
recover her.
Captain (43:19):
I think becca probably
thinks that alice was not taking
any of her meds and that's whyshe's like forcing meds down her
throat, which I think weactually do watch her not take
her meds, and that's why she'slike forcing meds down her
throat, which I think weactually do watch her not take
her meds.
Wilson (43:29):
I think she thinks about
it and then she puts them back
down okay, yeah, uh, but anyway, and then, uh, becca finds the
screenplay and as she opens it,it's like basically the story of
the movie.
Captain (43:44):
Yeah, um like um, like
the airplane movie we watched oh
, uh, yes, I forgot it wascalled altitude, or.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, where it's like the story in the
comic or the story in thescreenplay is like the story of
the movie yeah, which weirdlyended up being an okay movie
that movie bald dude.
(44:04):
That movie slaps, great movieum, uh and yeah.
Wilson (44:11):
So she finds the
screenplay, she's like, oh okay
um and she walks downstairs andshe sees a camera on the ground.
There's no body, but then shestarts playing the camera and
it's her being recorded sleepingand um, and it's her being
(44:31):
recorded sleeping and um, aliceis saying this recorded, yes,
like an alice by alice, andalice is saying into the camera
the same thing that david hadsaid to lucy, and it was like
you're so pretty when you'resleeping, or something you look
like an angel when you'resleeping, or something which
don't say thatyeah, and then it's becca with a
shocked face and the movie endsuh yeah, so you said there's
(44:54):
like a divisive ending sort of,and like I even looked it up and
people are like, what is thatending?
Um, I know there are a coupletakes.
My take is that the ghost stuffhappened and she just used that
as inspiration.
In like a no druggedhallucination state of like, she
(45:14):
just wrote it down.
Captain (45:16):
Wait, what ghost stuff
happened.
Wilson (45:18):
Like.
Captain (45:19):
All of it.
Wilson (45:20):
Yeah, like in my mind, I
think all of it happened and
she wrote it down.
Captain (45:25):
Oh.
But I know there are multipleways like they left it kind of
open to interpretation, ish, Ithink, because it sounds like
you feel differently myinterpretation was that, because
becca makes that, makes thatcomment in the very beginning of
the movie, before they even getto the house, where she says
(45:49):
you have a lot of trauma thatyou haven't processed which has
been attempting to murder herand the miscarriage and she's I
mean, we find that out later butshe says you have a lot of
trauma that you haven'tprocessed and it might be
healthy to write your story andyour screenplay and kind of get
all of those emotions out, solike with that prompt and then
(46:10):
the essentially exactly mirroredstory of Lucy and David, but
it's her and Ben have that life.
I just feel like she is usingthat to kind of help get her
story on paper and feel better, but also like process the trauma
, so like she ends up in abathtub because it's not fun to
(46:33):
process, like she's not, it'snot doing well without, like her
medication or, you know, atherapist or whatever.
I don't know how to deal withthe Lucy necklace that uh, alice
(46:57):
puts on, because Becca clearlysees the necklace.
She even touches and touchesthe necklace and is like what
the fuck is this?
Maybe, maybe Lucy and Davidreally did live in that house
and they had some tapes thereand like they, you know they had
some stuff there, but she kindof, you know, threw her story
out onto this.
You know she's, like you know, put her own ideas of what their
life could have been based on,what her life was that's true,
(47:21):
so that sounds pretty good.
Wilson (47:22):
Actually I thought like
that does sound very reasonable.
But then also, how do youexplain why the focus on
recording Becca at the end?
Captain (47:34):
Yeah, I don't know.
Yeah, because it makes you feellike Alice is the one that's
like the threat, right?
Wilson (47:45):
Yeah, like the cycle's
gonna repeat, if you view it
that way, in that story.
Captain (47:49):
Yeah, oh yeah, because
they're a couple.
So like she'd be like the un,she'd be like the unhealthy one
in the couple now, like she wasthe one that was.
Yeah on the other side of it.
Yeah, I don't, I don't know,weird.
(48:10):
I wish they went with adifferent last scene that like
closed out or gave some type ofunderstanding, I don't know.
But like okay, do you reallythink david died, like when he
went off the side of the steps?
Wilson (48:19):
I mean, his body's not
there so, assuming it like all
that stuff actually happened, Ithink he probably just got up
and left or is hiding somewhereI mean we don't see what happens
after them sitting on thestairs like he could just as
easily come out and kill both ofthem that's true I don't know
(48:40):
yeah, I I don't know the ending.
Captain (48:42):
I did not like, like
the last scene.
I I really didn't like I mean Ididn't like any of the movie,
but he's pretty clunky andthere's definitely a lot of
filler at the very beginning, like when they're going through
the uh credits, like I'm likecan we get this girl's fucking
suitcase out of the closet?
And packed, like, why is thistaking so long?
(49:02):
Um yeah, it's not a great movieno, but I do think it.
Wilson (49:10):
Uh, they got the timing
right, like the length of the
movie.
It wasn't too long, it wasalmost too short.
Captain (49:18):
It just wasn't a good
movie, but like the time was
very reasonable yeah, that'susually our biggest complaint is
it's either sped the fuck, likeway too fast it's sped up, or
like yeah, you're like, oh myGod, move it.
Wilson (49:33):
Yes, yeah, this was like
an hour and 20 minutes
basically.
Captain (49:37):
Was it.
Wilson (49:38):
It was very close to it.
Captain (49:39):
Wow.
Wilson (49:40):
It says it's 89 minutes,
but I don't know like five
minutes of credits yeah.
Captain (49:44):
Yeah, yeah, do you have
?
I know there's not like a tonabout this movie.
Do you have things?
Wilson (49:54):
um, let's see.
Well, I do see it.
It says this was britneymurphy's final film before her
death um when exactly did thiscome out?
Captain (50:05):
I know she died in the
same year, but I don't know how
many like months apart.
Wilson (50:09):
She doesn't look the
most healthy in this movie she
does not, and I don't thinkthat's entirely just.
They wanted to make her looksickly, for the part no, now she
did look kind of rough.
So this was released in theUnited States on December 1st.
(50:30):
It was October 5th in the UK.
Captain (50:33):
Didn't she die in
December?
She died December 20th.
Wilson (50:38):
Yeah, so later that
month.
Captain (50:41):
Oh, that's where they
did the.
I don't know if you saw thatthing about the recalling the
posters, the film posters.
Wilson (50:46):
I did not see that.
Captain (50:48):
Oh, if you go down on
the script.
Wilson (50:53):
I didn't scroll that far
, oh sorry we skipped the
num-nums.
Okay, so, oh, I forgot aboutRedbox.
That is kind of taste.
I mean, obviously they didn'tplan that, but it is tasteless
for her to be dead in a bathtubread it okay, sorry, sorry, yes
(51:17):
um so after murphy's death ondecember 20th 2009, red box were
called film posters which weredisplayed on kiosks around the
country, and in the poster itdepicted Murphy's character
sitting in a bathtub with a deadversion of the other female
lead character's reflection inthe mirror.
So it was just yeah.
Captain (51:39):
What an L, Because
Brittany Murphy, I believe, died
in a bathroom Like she wasfound unresponsive in a bathroom
, I'm pretty sure yeah, that'snot uh yeah, it's not not great
no, yeah, so I understand whythey did that.
Wilson (51:59):
Um, I don't think
there's any other.
Captain (52:01):
I don't even see trivia
yeah, the only thing that I
really found is that, like forthe well, you can read the num,
num stuff that's in there.
But, um, yeah, most all I couldreally find is it's just an
independently financed film, which I don't really know, like
exactly what that means.
Wilson (52:20):
But so how did I mean?
Was she really interested inthis movie?
Did she do a favor like?
Captain (52:28):
I have no idea.
That's like also questions Ihave um I don't know okay, well,
so I don't see.
Wilson (52:38):
I don't see a critic
score audience 20.
Um, let me check the letterboxoh, the letterbox.
Captain (52:47):
I know one interesting
thing which is not super related
to this movie, but BrittanyMurphy's death is still like one
of those things that isexamined Because like there
wasn't a lot that came out aboutlike their cause and like the
reason, and like I don't know, people still think that like
there's conspiracy stuff withstuff with like what really
(53:07):
caused her death, um, or it'sconsidered like suspicious, I
don't know.
Yeah, she was like 32 at thetime, um, but yeah, there's like
when I'm googling there's likelegit articles about it, there's
reddit like posts about it,there's podcasts about it, like
examining her death.
But I'm pretty sure drugs wereinvolved.
(53:31):
She looks in this movie.
Wilson (53:39):
She looks, yeah, like
sunken.
Captain (53:41):
Yes, that is a good
description, so not great.
Wilson (53:56):
Her hair is giving
shakira, but like not in a fresh
way, no, yeah, I mean, I thinkpart of it must have been makeup
.
But also, if they didn't have ahuge budget, like, yeah, I, she
just I feel like she clearlywasn't well during filming this.
Captain (54:06):
Probably not.
Did you have a rag?
I, like, didn't think about arag at all when I was watching
this.
Wilson (54:12):
I did not.
I'm going to give myself amoment, but the Rotten Tooth
Nope.
Captain (54:19):
Oh, Letterboxd.
Wilson (54:20):
Letterboxd is 2.3 out of
5.
That's generous, yeah, so Iguess I don't know if I super
have a razor glass, because nopart of the film really jumped
out at me, stuck out to me no doyou have one?
Captain (54:43):
this is bad.
This is bad maybe only becausewe were like we called it.
This is bad.
This is bad.
Maybe only because we were likewe called it was where they
started tickling and Becca waslike when are you going to start
telling your family about me?
I was like oh, so that wasprobably my razor glass.
Okay, yeah, I think.
Representation in 2009.
Wilson (55:03):
Okay, yeah, pretty
shocking actually, and the fact
in 2009,.
Okay.
Captain (55:07):
Yeah, pretty shocking
actually, and the fact that
there's layers to it, becauseshe was dating a man that was
attempted to murder her, and nowshe's living her life.
Yeah, seeing how things go.
Wilson (55:20):
So do you have a poor
one out?
Oh?
Captain (55:28):
God, the entire movie.
I felt like in the next moviedo I feel like I had a porn out?
Um, do I have a porn out inhere?
Um, yes, when lucy, or sorry, when alice puts on lucy's
lipstick.
That's probably sitting in theattic for 10 years.
I was like, if you don't putthat salmonella pink eye
lipstick down, like sharingmakeup is like disgusting.
(55:51):
Especially you're like it'sbeen sitting in an attic all
like for probably years.
So that's my, that's my pointout for sure um, did you?
Wilson (56:05):
I think mine like.
I think it has to do with theghostly effects on um.
What's her face?
Thora's character, lucy lucy, yes uh, these are like regular
(56:25):
names, people, you know, yeah, but we're like bopping out all
regular names like Becca andAlice, alice, mom, mom, mom, I
don't know, I just didn't likethe like gimmicky effects on
that Like making her look bad.
Captain (56:45):
I mean, she like legit
looks like sally from the
nightmare before christmas.
In the one scene where they'velike just painted like stitch
lines on her, I'm like what?
What's happening?
Wilson (56:55):
yeah, what this?
Captain (56:57):
is.
Wilson (56:57):
That would be a really
good for halloween yeah I don't
know, I mean maybe, maybe it washalloween and they're like just
pop in here, makeup's fine.
Captain (57:10):
I don't know I don't
know, so Would not recommend I
gave it a one and a half onLetterboxd.
Wilson (57:18):
Honestly, I might do
that too, like maybe even a one,
depending if I'm like, the moodI'm in when I yeah.
Captain (57:24):
The only thing is I
usually give ones to movies
where I was like not only do Inot know what the fuck's going
on, but from when I havegathered, I hate it and like at
least this one.
I was like, okay, I understandthe story for them, like I
understand what's happening,because we've watched some
movies where I'm like what isactually happening, um.
So I gave it a one and a half.
(57:44):
So yeah, I would probably giveit like what was the audience
score A 20?
.
Wilson (57:49):
Yeah, yeah.
Captain (57:52):
It's a 20.
Wilson (57:54):
It's a 20.
It's like a 23.
Captain (57:56):
It's like a 23.
Wilson (57:58):
Yeah, you know, maybe
you're right, because if I go
into the teens that means I'mmad about the movie.
Captain (58:04):
Yeah, and I'm not.
Wilson (58:05):
I wasn't mad about this
one, I just didn't like it.
I just didn't like it Would notrecommend, so I'm gonna put in
your score.
You said 20% 23.
Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry.
I mean, I guess,percentage-wise, if I'm giving
(58:25):
it like a 1, I'm gonna it like aone, I'm going to do 19.
Captain (58:32):
So you're a little mad.
Wilson (58:33):
A little mad.
You're like a little mad, youknow why?
Captain (58:36):
you're mad, you know
why.
And we didn't say this, people, because you spent $10 on the
movie.
Wilson (58:41):
That is true.
I'd be mad my only option towatch it in sync with you is my
only option to watch it in syncwith you, so now I have it
forever in iTunes or whatever.
Captain (58:52):
Apple TV.
Just another gift from the RedRoom Podcast.
Yup, yup, yup.
Oh, next week.
Oh, sorry, is that what youwere going to say?
Next week, yeah go for it.
We're doing T, doing trap, which is 2024 did you say trash
(59:12):
no um 2024?
Yeah, that sounds right yeah, the um m night shamalan, m night
shamalan I'm very curious tohear your thoughts on that one.
I saw we rated it the same onletterboxd yeah, I have a lot of
things that I that's what we'redoing next week.
Lastly, based on this movie, doyou have any advice for me?
(59:37):
Wise words, yes, thank you.
I thought that was a reallylong french fry at first I wish
you picked it up.
Wilson (59:52):
I wish, um, I, I don't
know.
I think I guess the advicewould have to be somewhere
around lucy and david.
Like yeah, I don't know whatshe needs to do.
Like, look at the warning signs.
Captain (01:00:07):
I don't have anything
cute there to say, but like I
think you could pull some advicefrom whatever the fuck don't do
.
Wilson (01:00:13):
Whatever the fuck becca
did you mean not show up for her
significant other when she's ina crisis?
Captain (01:00:21):
yes, yes that's good
advice.
Don't do that yeah.
