Speaker 1 (00:00):
Bob Lovell of Indiana Sports Talk.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
That's tonight tomorrow night on stations across the state of India,
great stations like WITZ AM and FM Jasper Huntingburg, which
I listened to on Tuesday when I was down in Jasper.
You can listen to it there state wide with all
your favorite stations. Bob Lovell joins US. Now I should
(00:22):
appropriately enough, I'm at a cathedral bar, right, That's where
I am, Sam Silver Circle. Did I get a boo?
That's the first time I've ever heard that. Now I'm
at a cathedral bar. They're on the road at Covington, Kentucky,
So I don't know how much Cathedral will rep in
this place. But man, coming off a fantastic win on
the road at Sinegrove and cathedral at five and two.
(00:45):
Bob back on the road in Covington, Kentucky coming up
later on this evening.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Well, I think it shows you the quality of the team.
They played a great team, obviously on the road and
with a big win.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
They played tremendous schedule evidenced by the fact that they're
in Kentucky tonight, and so you know they uh, I
mean coach Peebles is as good as the gets.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Coach moores as good as the Get. So that matchup
was a tremendous one tonight.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
But Cathedral is clearly one of those top four five
teams in five A that has a legitimate chance to
win a championship.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
To Bob Lovell of Indiana Sports Talk with US six
eight Brownsburg, seven and zero at Noblesville, the Miller's one
in six this season so far. Meantime, your two other
seven and ohs Crown Point at five A Chesterton and
seven and oh Pen they're ranked fourth at for a
new Prairie.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
My question is do you think Crown Point.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
I guess we will have to see it at some point,
one of the two from up north if they end
up making it. But do you think Crown Point and Penn,
for example, would you put them in a similar category
as Brownsburg or Carmel or Center Grove or Lawrence North.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
I'd put them not.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Four far away, I think depending on where the game
is played, field conditions, those kinds of things.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
You know.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
The Penn Pennis has they started slowly, They've really played
well lately. Uh, Crown Point has been the class of
the northern part of the state, and sixth eighty the
entire year. Craig Bazi is one of the best coaches
in the States ever seen. Uh, they're putting things together.
They're a tough minded group of guys. Play your hard defensively,
(02:26):
grind it out on you offensively.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
So I mean, these are two really good teams.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
John, I'm not so sure, you know, in terms of
who can play Brownsburg right now? They you know, one
of the year goes we know and undefeated now, So
I think in my mind they're kind of the favors.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
But it's clearly I.
Speaker 4 (02:44):
Mean a a Crown Point team that's really good and
Pen Pennis Pen. They just brand new devenue coach and
they're playing great football. And so I mean, as I mentioned,
slow start, but they're being penned right now.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Hey, Bob Sinegrove and l N that's five and six
and six A and both teams are six and one.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
That's at CG coming up later on tonight.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
I was there, I was picking up my daughter last Friday,
and you could tell there was a great deal I
can't imagine in the locker room with Eric Moore, but
there was a great deal of disappointment in losing that game.
In the fashion which they did with Cathedral. What do
you think about this six and one matchup to see
if CG can bounce back at home later off tonight.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Well, clearly, I think they're going to be motivated. I
don't think there's any any question about that.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
I think Lawris Orth has been a tremendous story Johns.
We talked about him earlier, and they have some talented
guys and they just continued to play and play well.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
It's in my mind this is the best game of
the state tonight.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
This is a tremendous matchup of two teams that happened
to be one of the most difficult.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
Classes out there.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
But I think it's I think it's a great matchup
and I hope the weather holds off and everybody's able
to watch a tremendous football game.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Fishers in Westfield, Bob also at six, say that's a
hell of a matchup.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
Letter on tonight too.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Westfield just continues to play solid football. I mean, change
the coaches, Josh Miracle is doing a fantastic job in
his first year.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
They haven't missed a beat quite frankly, I mean.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Fisher's you know, Hamilton County HC and Fisher's Mantleman. They're
incredibly talent, They're loaded. I think this is your basic
talks up. This is a great, great game and wouldn't
surprise me if it comes down to the end.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
To Bob Lovel of Indiana Sports Talk, he's got you tonight,
He's got you tomorrow night. I've got people on the
text line of three point seven two, three nine, ten
seventy wanting me to have you talk up Kyle Ralph
and the seven to zero New Palace squad that he
has against Newcastle coming up letter on tonight. I will
(04:58):
say this, I haven't I've seen Bloomington South, but you
just kind of wonder where newpal is compared to others.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Now, I know Cathedral look tough.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
We mentioned that, but you got South and you've got
Cathedral Lafayete Jeff East Central is always kind of right
there your Quakers are playing.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
So do you kind of wonder if maybe newpal may
not be at least.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
An arms length ahead of some of these other teams
in their class Right now?
Speaker 4 (05:27):
I would agree with that, and I think it's a
great description you're talking about Kyle Ralph. I'm not sure
there are enough superlatives to offer for what he's done
since he arrived. They've done nothing but dominate whatever collass
they're in at that particular time. Multiple state championships, you know,
one a year ago. They listen. They are really really solid.
(05:50):
They are a well put together program. He is a
tremendous leader, tremendous coach, and.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
So I think that's what makes him so good.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Sound the South is playing well, I mean the whole Bloomington,
the city of Bloomington's playing well quite frankly. So yeah,
you need to talk about New Poul, Bloomton South Cathedral.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Uh, those are some.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
There's some really really solid team.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Five A.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Bob Lovel of Indiana Sports Talk Chitar's number one and four.
A Bob at six and one and they get six
and one.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Try West. That's a hell of a matchup, Letter of tonight, buddy.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Yeah it is. This Try West team has been really
you know, I suppose quiet.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
In some respects, but they just go along. As you
point out, only lost one ball game, and we all
know about Star and they've reloaded. But at Try West,
that is a tremendous match up that kind of reminds
you of a semi state matchup.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
Later on in the tournament. Uh.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
And both teams are playing obviously very very well. Uh
for a you know they they have to be. Harry
Hills is one another one.
Speaker 5 (06:59):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
There you're talking about balancing classes, John, you know sticks
A five, A four, A four. It's the same way
its Star East Nobles, a team that people haven't talked about.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
They haven't lost yet. Harry Chose has lost one.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
Mister walk is getting better, Philton Heights playing much better.
So that's a great, great matchup Star try with I'd
love to watch that one.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
I'd love to see that tonight.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
No, I completely agree with you on that too.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
That is a tremendous game, Chuitard on the road at
try West.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
This is when we get into some of the Southern
Indiana schools that are really good too. Class three A
number one at seven to zero, Evansville Memorial, Gibson Southern
at six and one. We know all about the Cascade
team here in central Indiana that's seven and oh as
well and a phenomenal player, and just some eye popping
numbers going down at Knox for that seven to oh
(07:54):
team rank fourth right now in three A.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
Bob Well, No, you're.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Right, and they you know, Knox is coached by Hall
of Fame coach Russ Raking. Their running back is just
as good as it gets. Uh, he's a phenomenally challenged guy.
You know, he's averaging something like, you know, four hundred
almost five hundred yards a game, and so it's just
(08:18):
it's crazy and what they're doing. But again, you know,
it's one of those teams that's built to win in
October and November because they can punish you with the
ball in their hands.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
You mentioned Memorial. Memorial is really you know, they wanted
a year ago. They're they're undefeated right now.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
Gibson Southern likes to throw it with Nick Hart and
his guys.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Cats cats really really good.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Mississina is another one. You have to think about. Their
undefeated and have played really good football this year. So
three a kind of like what we talked about the.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Others is pretty uh, pretty balanced class.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Bob Lovel of Indiana Sports Talky, You got dad, and
you have one helaciously awesome college football game hopefully tomorrow
and Eugene, Oregon to keep track of. Don't You're going
to be on top of all of that this weekend.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
I hope so, John, I really do.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
But it's it's one of those great you know, you've
got a lot to talk about. You get the Pacers,
who are you know playing? You got college football colts
in and the Cardinals. Weekend of high school football tournament
starts soon obviously, so it's a great, great weekend. We
hope everybody will go to a game, pay your pay
your tick, buy your ticket to support the school, get
(09:35):
in your car afterwards, turn on your radio, hit scan
and you'll find us.
Speaker 1 (09:41):
It's that easy, is it not. It's that easy, buddy.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
I love having you on. You know that to be true.
Have a great weekend. We'll do it again next week.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
All right, John, thanks very much?
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Well they any more?
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Automotive Group hootline first of Jall on Foxville Rider for
the Indianapolis Star and sweating is you know what's off?
Going into a decisive game five coming up tomorrow night
with his home standing Brewers and the NLDS against the Cubs.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Joel A.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Erickson joins us, Now are you sweating this out a
little bit?
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Brother?
Speaker 6 (10:20):
I have a twelve hours of depression schedule for between
Missouri playing Alabama and the Brewers losing to the Cubs
in the.
Speaker 7 (10:28):
In game five, Hey, Joel, I listened to a lot
of gambling podcasts and all the sharps are saying that
Missouri is the play tomorrow. You've got a good running attack.
Maama's not that great against the run. It's kind of
another sandwich game for Maama. They had a lot of
emotion last week looking forward to Tennessee. I think you've
(10:50):
got them right where you want them.
Speaker 6 (10:53):
It's the history of Missouri football would suggest that anytime
we go up against those blue bloody type schools that
we end up in in a bad space. So I
hope the gambling I hope the gambling sharks are right.
But uh yeah, I gotta you gotta Well, you know,
I went to Missouri. I'm not from there, but I
went to Missouri. You have to show me.
Speaker 8 (11:13):
Well.
Speaker 7 (11:13):
What's funny is is they said that Missouri has yet
to play a road game.
Speaker 8 (11:17):
Is that true?
Speaker 9 (11:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (11:20):
They've played every set. I mean, what are we week seven?
They haven't played a road game. So that's what.
Speaker 6 (11:26):
I can't remember what it is, but it's like the
furthest the team gets to its schedule.
Speaker 9 (11:31):
Maybe ever since, like you know, some terrible, some really
long time ago. They don't. They don't go on the
road until they play.
Speaker 6 (11:37):
Auburn in the Rickson Household Maryloll rivalry game.
Speaker 7 (11:42):
That's unbelievable. Well it makes you feel any better. Some
degenerates out in Las Vegas thinks Missouri is gonna win.
And as far as the Brewers go, I mean, you
got to figure the Cubs are gonna cub and the
Brewers at home. I just like the Brewers in this
They've been the better team all all season long, and
I actually like both teams. I wouldn't mind seeing either
one of the World Series, but I like the Brewers
(12:03):
in this one.
Speaker 6 (12:04):
I I would love to agree with you, but.
Speaker 9 (12:08):
I just can't find a reason.
Speaker 6 (12:09):
I can't find a reason from the the vibes of
going back home after losing two that you should have
clinched on to the numbers, saying that historically, if you
let a team back into it like this, usually that
team closes you out. I just I can't find a
I can't find a path, Hagan.
Speaker 7 (12:28):
So I can't r Already, I was already worried about
seeing Dave Griffis and Alexa Ross tomorrow after the Phillies
and Eagles both lost, and so now tomorrow I might
be having to h troubleshoot your your emotional issues if
Missouri and the Brewers both low.
Speaker 8 (12:42):
So this is gonna be a real fun Sunday.
Speaker 6 (12:44):
First First and Joel First and Joel maybe the fakest
smile I've ever had.
Speaker 9 (12:49):
You might have to you might.
Speaker 6 (12:50):
Have to do uh, you might have to do some
Chris Hagen singing and to make up for some of
those minutes.
Speaker 8 (12:58):
I can do it.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
I'll come through Joel a ericson First and Joel on
Fox that they die and from the Indianapolis star of
the Eddy Moore Automotive Group plot line. Before we get
started on the Colts and some interesting dynamics going into
week number six of their matchup with the Cardinals coming
up on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
I look at it this way.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
I kind of wonder Craig Council, the skipper of the Cubs,
would this be an al timer in terms of Wisconsin
sports if they were to lose three in a row
when you get bounced out in the fashion that is
a possibility coming up tomorrow night in decisive Game five.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
Yeah, yeah, I thought last week I thought that season
couldn't be topped with the Alonso homer, shortly followed by
the There wasn't the news that something was going on
with There wasn't like hard news that something was going
on with Bob Yucker. But it was very evident from
the way the players were reacting that something was going
on with Huger.
Speaker 9 (13:50):
But this one, this one would be worse.
Speaker 6 (13:54):
I think every Brewers playoff loss sort of field existential.
Speaker 9 (13:57):
This one would feel the same way.
Speaker 6 (14:00):
It's and like I said, I think that's where I
think that's where it's headed. When when Half hit the
homer yesterday, I thought, you know what, that might be
it that's the end of that series.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Yeah, I don't know if I feel that, but you
knew that was the end of the game. I hated
it because the Brewers just went away, I mean absolutely
faded away, and the Cubs kind of piled it on.
That's that's the part that I probably I hated the most.
I want to start here with the Colts. Is there
anything to put to the fact that you're talking about
(14:33):
two coaches coming up on Sunday with two teams going
in opposite directions right now, clearly, but two coaches that
no one another, maybe as well as any two coaches
in the NFL right now. Is there anything advantage wise
for either one going into Sunday and your estimation, Joe,
I don't think so.
Speaker 6 (14:54):
I think Arizona's Arizona's defense has evolved from where Jonathan
Gannon had it in Philadelphia. They're doing some really intriguing
stuff with the way they disguise their coverages, and it's
it's not stuff that they were necessarily doing back then.
I would say, you know, I know the Cardinals here
(15:15):
have lost three straight, but I get the sense that
the Colts look at this as a very difficult game
and at the Cardinal that they have a defense in
particular that is is probably better than people realize.
Speaker 8 (15:30):
Hagan, you going, oh sure, turn, I was like, oh
not just something online.
Speaker 7 (15:35):
No, I'm sorry, I don't listen to you usually, aready.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
I got another one.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
I just thought to you, okay, Hey, Joel Alick Peerce,
we thought last week at this time that maybe he
had the op joy Actually before this we thought we
knew by this time he wasn't. But to me, for
a guy that has been so good that people still
complain about him not having deep ball, capabilities. Alick Peers
is so important because he gives Daniel Jones that deep
(16:04):
ball capability in the form of a jump ball. So
the importance of having him out there and his return
coming up on Sunday, I.
Speaker 6 (16:14):
Think he's a big deal, and I think it's I
think it's more than just being able to go up
and get the deep ball. If you go back and
look at those the two games before he got the
Denver game and then the Tennessee game, he made a
handful of catches there in that intermediate crosser type range
that for big first downs or sort of plays that
(16:35):
aren't necessarily explosive play, but they're fifteen nineteen yard chunks
to obviously hugely helpful as you moved down the field.
I think Alex Pierce's is definitely a big deal. And
then with the jump ball, you know, Daniel Jones, unless
he throws the ball very early, is not going to
get a deep ball out in front of a receiver
to have him run into it under it. Most of
(16:56):
the time it's going to be a jump ball. You know,
a eighty Mitch is not a player who's great at that.
We saw actually Doland make one of those plays last week.
But Alec Pierce obviously is fantastic at it, and I thought,
you know, really probably should have had three of those
catches already this season instead of instead of just two.
Speaker 8 (17:15):
Joel.
Speaker 7 (17:16):
As nice as the four and one start is, I mean,
Jacksonville's right there. They're not going anywhere still two matchups
with them. We talked about earlier. All an Eagles team
can can lose to the Giants. So and I think
the Colts has done a good job about talking to
talk and walking the walk about. Hey, this this start
is great, but it means nothing. You can't go out
there and take anybody for granted, even though you're seeing
(17:37):
a team that's banged up and lost three straight in
the NFL. You have to go out there and do
what you do or you could easily take an l
and next thing you know, you're not in first place anymore.
Speaker 6 (17:48):
Yeah, And like I said, I think the Colts. I
think the Colts this pardon those team should have a
better record than it does. You know this, I mentioned
what they're doing on defense. The Colts have been so
good on offense because Jones and Stikeen have been good
at figuring out what coverages people are running, and then
(18:08):
that's what Jones has to do with the line of scrimmage,
and then Stikeen has given him, you know, the right
place to attack whatever he sees. The Cardinals do this
stuff in the secondary where they kind of line up
looks like almost aimlessly, and then they don't really declare
their coverage until they until the snap starts, and I
think that makes it a little bit more difficult on
(18:29):
the quarterback. Jones said earlier this week. You know, it's
a little bit unconventional. It's a little bit a little
bit difficult with the stuff like that in terms of
reading the defense.
Speaker 9 (18:38):
That's what they've done a good job of so far.
Speaker 6 (18:40):
So I think it's an interesting mental test for this offense.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Quote.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
We're working through that right now from Shane steike and
that has been a constant.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Regarding a d Mitchell.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
He was clearly on punishment last week against the Raiders.
Will that remain somewhat similar this week at home against
the Cardinals.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
Yeah, I mean that's that's essentially the same thing.
Speaker 9 (19:05):
Shane Sdyken said last week. You know, he didn't he
didn't give.
Speaker 6 (19:10):
A full throated you know, he's he's he's paid his
dues and gotten back in there. So what we're working
through that is what he what he said last week,
and then we saw how much he played and not
with Pierce pat Wither's back obviously that that changes the
roster picture number a little bit. So yeah, I think
(19:31):
I think it's possible that we might we might not
see Ady Mitchell in his old role in the offense
this weekend, just just based on like I said, it's
it's the same thing Shane Steiken said last week when
he really only played once. They threw in everybody just
to keep people healthy.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Hey, Joel canny Moore of the second's been ruled out.
We know that to be true. But then they made
adjustments contractually for him. Is there there anything deeper to
get into with that conversation of mine? I talked to
Mike Chapel about that yesterday and he didn't really think so.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
But what say you?
Speaker 6 (20:03):
They got down to like four ish million or something
like that in cap space before that deal. They've done
this before, where no structure something in the middle of
a season to kind of give themselves more operating money.
If you think about it, this is a team that's
already had to sign a handful of veteran types after
(20:24):
the season has started and when there's still still a
ways to go. And the way the cap works is
if you're signing undrafted free agents and stuff like that,
those guys don't really affect your cap that much because
they're coming in at the minimum. If you signed veterans,
if you sign a guy like Jermaine Pratt, you're you're
obviously taking out a little bit bigger chunk of the cat.
Speaker 9 (20:43):
So I think that's the most likely.
Speaker 6 (20:46):
Thing for for why they redid More's contracts from a
from an achilles standpoint, we did see him working out
on the field today, not the field that the rest
of the culture practicing on. He was on the other
field with a trainer. He was he was doing some
movement stuff at the beginning of practice. So at the
very least they think it's okay for him to start
moving where we'll see next week if he if he
(21:10):
is able to play before that for those four weeks,
that uh, he would have been a minimum of on
ir expire or if it lingers a little.
Speaker 8 (21:18):
Bit, he Joel.
Speaker 7 (21:20):
As you know, I do little to no research whenever
I'm talking about stuff. But I was thinking about Daniel Jones. Uh,
if you did it right now a third of the
way of the season, you'd say, you know, is he
comeback Player of the Year. And then I started thinking,
not to get too far ahead of myself, has can
you think of anybody or you, John, has anybody ever
been comeback Player of the Year and MVP in the
(21:41):
same season. Oh, because that would be Uh, that would
be unbelievable.
Speaker 8 (21:46):
And it's sounds like like a.
Speaker 10 (21:47):
Cam Newton category or something to me. I, well, I
know this though, he cannot be comeback Player of the
Year for just not playing well that the year before
they changed that rule.
Speaker 8 (21:59):
Oh, he has to be hurt now, Yes.
Speaker 6 (22:02):
They changed the rule after Flaco Onefter Flaco one because
people were up at arms but demor Hamlin not getting it,
and so now it has to be an injury thing.
I have seen a several people say Daniel Jones come
back player, well now, and I don't particularly like that.
I think you should be able to come back from whatever,
(22:22):
But that those are I believe there was a rule
change where it has to be coming back off of injury.
Speaker 7 (22:29):
So there's Comeback Player of the Year and come back
from the Dead Player of the year is what they
have now, And not to make light of that situation,
but it is very different because for years it was
like a guy that was down and out. And I mean,
you get cut from your original team that drafted you
in the first round and then you're just like you're
basically a ball boy for the Vikings up there. It's
it's strange that he can't be inconsidered now. It makes
(22:52):
you wonder who's even in consideration for that. I mean,
would it be Dak. Didn't Dak get hurt last year? Yeah,
Dak got hurt. That gets hurt every year.
Speaker 6 (23:01):
I don't particularly like the change and the rule because
I think I think Drew Brees won his comeback Player
of the Year not for the year after he wrecked
his shoulder, but for a year that he just wanted
to be good with the Chargers and then turned out
to be very good the next year.
Speaker 9 (23:16):
I prefer having that be a part of it.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
If you go back and look at the Flacco year, really,
I don'm not sure if Flacco or Hamlin either of
them should have won. I think it probably should have
been Baker Mayfield because he was a guy that he
was kind of in a Jones spot where the NFL
had left him for dead, and he and then he
obviously has become a turn into what looks like a
franchise quarterback for the Buck. So I don't love that
rule change, but I do know that they made that
(23:40):
a couple of years ago.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
It Joel, Did Daniel Jones not get injured? Did he
not miss a week last year for the Giants? Other
than could that be an asterix?
Speaker 11 (23:50):
Like?
Speaker 8 (23:50):
Yeah, he was. He was hurt one game.
Speaker 6 (23:52):
So I don't know, that's a good question. I don't
know if they changed the voting criteria. As you guys
may know, the Associated Press does not like to give
out putting memberships to people who are in the Indianapolis market,
so that makes it a little harder for us to.
Speaker 9 (24:08):
Know some of this stuff.
Speaker 7 (24:09):
Yeah, nerds, I got I got a good insight here
from Eddie White who says, believe it or not, the
closest to winning both and this makes sense, was Peyton Manning.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
Yeah, it does.
Speaker 2 (24:24):
Eddie's on top of it as as usual. That does
make that does make a lot of sense. You know,
that's weird. Hey, if you were voting for m VP,
would it be Daniel Jones or Jonathan Taylor.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
It's a good I mean, right now, I would go
Daniel Jones because Taylor has been.
Speaker 9 (24:43):
Brilliant, don't get me wrong, but a lot of these.
Speaker 6 (24:46):
Games, Taylor's been the finisher and Jones has been the one.
Speaker 9 (24:49):
Who's who's They've.
Speaker 6 (24:51):
They put the ball in the hands of early in games.
I think just about every game so far had started
with a fairly pedestrian first half from Taylor, and then
he turned know, they wear them down, and he starts
finding room to run in the second half. So I
think in terms of just you know, who's who's driving
the bus the most so far, it's it's probably Jones.
(25:12):
And again that's that's tough one because Taylor's been brilliant,
But just in terms of the most valuable, I think
that's where I would go.
Speaker 7 (25:20):
Well, Joe, before we say goodbye, I'll see you on
Sunday morning. But tomorrow I'm throwing this out there to
you and all my degenerate friends. I'm gonna go with
the Joel a Parlay. I'm going Maszoo and the brew.
It all rhymes.
Speaker 8 (25:34):
It has to be a winner.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
If if if, well, I guess I'm looking at the
wrong way tomorrow could be twelve hours of depression or
it could be twelve hours of elation.
Speaker 9 (25:44):
It's it's impossible to know.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
But you know, with us, as we've talked about this before,
our sports teams, we've never gone into games in any
sport expecting to win.
Speaker 8 (25:53):
We're always happy when we do.
Speaker 6 (25:55):
Never I we we just you know, but you know,
between you and I, we we we have chosen teams
that don't necessarily allow us to feel great about things.
Speaker 7 (26:05):
We can't be cocky, We're never you can never knock
us off our perch because we're never on it to
begin with.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
Hoping.
Speaker 2 (26:10):
Yeah, Brewers fans, Oh, I'm sorry, go ahead, go ahead, Joel,
So I thought they go.
Speaker 9 (26:13):
Ahead, Brewers, Brewers. The Brewers are something.
Speaker 6 (26:16):
Like three and ten or something in their history in quinchers.
Speaker 9 (26:20):
So you know, people are like, you know, you're putting
on a front here. No, I have reason to not
believe that they can to work out.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Yeah, there is and going back to nineteen eighty two
when the Cardinals won the World Series, when the Brewers
were in the A, the American League back in the day,
Joel has uh not memories of that, but I'm sure
distant memories as folks that are Brewers.
Speaker 8 (26:44):
Fans have told him.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
About that in the past, and yeah, there has been
a there's been a lot of heartache with the Brewers.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
There's no doubt about that. Joel has got first.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
And Joel coming up on Sunday with Chris Agon of
Fox fifty nine find his work in The Indianapolis Star. Joel,
it's always a pleasure, brother, Thank you.
Speaker 9 (27:00):
You bet. We'll see if we can.
Speaker 6 (27:01):
We'll see if it'sweet us we can get Hagen singing
on a show on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Creak this up for Mike Wells from ESPN Radio The
Slow Jammery Entry Mod Live Blue Friday All Request JAMV
Takeover Style.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Hey Mike, that is some weird sound. Are you on
your head? Are you on your earbuds or something.
Speaker 5 (27:50):
Like always am?
Speaker 1 (27:51):
Yeah, No, I don't, we don't. We don't catch you
right all right now.
Speaker 5 (27:58):
I'm gonna say my airbox hold on.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
That is better right there.
Speaker 8 (28:01):
And you all thought my singing was bad.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Yeah, that's like you're it's like you were singing trapped
inside the garden.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
I was right there. That didn't sound good at all. Oh,
that sound much better.
Speaker 5 (28:13):
So my Tender Love did not sound great that.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
Time, man, and I gave you.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
I put that on a silver platter with the four
some ds in Tender Love. A one hit wonder from
nineteen eighty five, and what incredible soundtrack of the nineteen
eighties Mike Wells.
Speaker 5 (28:32):
Crash Grew Bad Body.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Body Movement. God? What hey, what's your favorite song off
that album?
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (28:42):
Man, see now we're going back forty years. Oh yeah,
put me on the spot on that one. Man.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
I just oh, come on, buddy.
Speaker 12 (28:51):
May what the what the Curtis warn that sounds track.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
If I Rule the World? Oh God, that's a great song.
Speaker 8 (29:01):
Oh that's great.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
Hey, you want to know what's crazy? My favorite? One
of my favorite parts of that movie was when the
fat boys went.
Speaker 13 (29:08):
To uh to Borrow's Pizza and they ate everything in
sight in that movie?
Speaker 14 (29:14):
They did remember that part?
Speaker 5 (29:16):
I did.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
And then that guy had a heart attack like five
minutes later. I think, didn't he want to?
Speaker 13 (29:21):
I'm gonna say if I'm not thinking two or three
fat boys have passed away, haven't they?
Speaker 2 (29:28):
I believe we're only uh, we only have one fat
boy unfortunately remaining. By the way the Beastie Boys, She's
on it a classic song from Crush Groove. And how
about this one the Gap Band love Triangle from the
Gap Bands.
Speaker 13 (29:46):
My parents love playing some gapmand when they were cleaning
the hound.
Speaker 5 (29:51):
I believe it's a classic classic on the couch.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
I think there's only one of those left too.
Speaker 8 (29:56):
I think dropped.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
Charlie.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
It's the only of the three members of the Gap
Man remaining two on me.
Speaker 13 (30:05):
Oh shoot, hey, we got our favorite one foot five
tindering out.
Speaker 7 (30:09):
Who's in the house, Like, well, it's not an official
show until Welles makes fun of my height.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Hey, by the way, you keep rinking too, bro.
Speaker 13 (30:17):
I mean I'm gone from five foot five to one
foot five over the years.
Speaker 8 (30:22):
Man, Man, I'm as tall as tinker Bell. Now.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
He just showed me a picture of twenty fifteen. My god,
I was fat. That's ridiculous. You were in the fat.
You could have been in the fat.
Speaker 8 (30:34):
We just said, I look like Peter Griffin from Family Guy.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
And that picture.
Speaker 13 (30:41):
Twenty fifteen was the start of the inn of things
for Andrew looking the coult that quarterback too.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
Man, Yeah, twenty fifteen that was not a.
Speaker 13 (30:52):
Good That was not a good year for people, evidently, man,
and by the way. We're good seeing you n Hagen
in the press class.
Speaker 12 (31:00):
Weekend at the both games.
Speaker 13 (31:01):
Shout out for Matt Cold, Mat Kandy and the Colts
for letting my EU students in to cover a game.
Speaker 12 (31:07):
We'll be back again in a.
Speaker 13 (31:08):
Few weeks, so I don't need to be there, but
I love going to catch up with all of y'all.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Hey, Kanti's the hell of a dude. Man, You know
what I mean. You know how easy CONTI is.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
Thank you keV. You know how easy con I mean.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
And I hate to say it, but other people are
so damn hard to deal with and such a pain
in the ass most of the time. Man, Kanti, when
lose or draw criticism whatever is always there and always
you know, get you guys on. They just kind of
understand what's going on here. I have a great deal
(31:44):
of admiration for that. I like everybody that does it
and the communication game around here. But not all are
created equal. I mean, there are some that need to
do better work, and it's just sad.
Speaker 5 (31:57):
I'm trying to turn over a new LEA.
Speaker 13 (32:00):
Had Haen made that comment, I would have stirred the
plot and got these doing.
Speaker 5 (32:04):
But I'm turning off. I'm not gonna ask who you're
talking about.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
What that comment, well, listen, and I like him a
great deal, but the fever and the pacers can be
a pain in my ass, sir.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
And I don't know why.
Speaker 9 (32:18):
I mean.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
I mean, I I am like mister basketball around here.
I mean, they should have these dudes non stop and
ladies non stop. But I mean, it was like pulling
stinking teeth to get anybody on the fever on except
those that cover it.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
And you know, the pacers kind of the same way.
It's a ridiculous pain and it shouldn't be that way.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
And they should take a page from the book of
Matt Conti and the Colts and how they handle things
to make sure that your local product is always out
there and being talked up. I would never I will
never ever understand that, never, especially for me with the
pacers that have talked them up and have you know,
been right about them over the course of the past
(33:01):
couple of years. I will never understand that.
Speaker 12 (33:04):
Man, Hey Hagen, I was trying a conscious shoutout.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
I didn't know. I didn't know going on that path, bro.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
That took a turn. I can name something.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
I can name some names if you guys, Well, I
don't care at this point because I mean, basically, I
you know, Chad Buchanic comes on and whenever I ask him,
and that's nice enough. But hell if I if I
send that down the pipeline over there, I'm lucky to
get a call back in like a month.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
It's absurd.
Speaker 5 (33:33):
Hey, so how about how about those calls? Yeah?
Speaker 13 (33:40):
You know, got a chance to uh win another game
this weekend against the Cardinals. Moving and continue to move
in the right direction. Can we just go and play
Colts and Jaguars?
Speaker 5 (33:51):
Man? Uh for the AFC South title?
Speaker 7 (33:55):
Hey, wells, can you imagine if there's a world and
where they're flexing a Colt's Jaguars game to prime time
because it's gonna mean so much in December?
Speaker 5 (34:04):
Dang they do that, I'm gonna call you to seven
foot five? Uh that?
Speaker 13 (34:10):
But no, Hey, I'm still I'm so little hesit. I'm
more hesitant on the Jaguars still. But the way they tripped,
they tripped up and slid on end and got that
victory over the Chiefs on Monday Night football, I gotta
give you give a little credit.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
What credits do?
Speaker 13 (34:26):
Maybe maybe Trevor Lawrence will finally live up to uh
the expectations behind his name.
Speaker 7 (34:32):
Was that not the goofiest ever game winning touchdown you've
ever seen in your whole life. Dude falls down not
once but twice, then gets up and then in an
all world performer like Chris Jones is like, well, I'm
just gonna stand here and watch, and next thing you know,
he's in the end zone and the Jags are are
winning a huge game.
Speaker 13 (34:50):
Yeah, that was I mean, hey, uh, first of all,
that that trick, the Chris Jones moment is kind of
summed up how to keep the I've been all seasons.
They essentially had uh be sleepwalking and it passed.
Speaker 12 (35:03):
You're like, all right, now you don't have to worry
about Kisas City.
Speaker 13 (35:05):
They'll flip the script because they got Patrick Maholmes Travis
Kelsey out there.
Speaker 12 (35:09):
But you know, for the first time in some years,
you want be like, this might be the starting to.
Speaker 13 (35:15):
Decline on Andy Reid and those boys on a Kansas
City and you're flipping around.
Speaker 12 (35:21):
Look you look at the landscape of the AFC as
a whole. I know we're on you know what do
we uh what.
Speaker 13 (35:28):
Week six, Week five of the season and you're talking
about the jaguarshs, iking about the coast obvious, the Builders
are doing things. The Ravens, the Ravens are are are
a gigantic coop mess right now too. So Cincinnati without
doing bro they're not good. You could say, hey, the
AFC might actually it may be everything. Just Buffalo is
(35:48):
the one team that people really have to worry about,
and then after that it might be wide open.
Speaker 7 (35:54):
And right now if the season stopped today, which I'm
sure would make a season ticket holder's pissed off for
only getting a few games in. But the Colts are
sitting at the one seed, and when you look around,
it's like the NBA the Eastern Conference this year, so
many star players are hurt, teams might be down. This
is when you got to make your hay and to
get out of the gate quick, which the Colts haven't
(36:14):
done a lot in the last decade to be where
they are and see some of the landscape of the AFC.
I mean, the time is now to get something done
and break a lot of these long streaks that they've
had as far as winning divisions and making the playoffs
and advancing in the playoffs. So this is where. I
mean the ball has been placed on the tee, has
it not?
Speaker 12 (36:34):
Oh?
Speaker 13 (36:36):
Can you guys imagine this was a traditional fold season
where they got off to a slow start and the
rest of the AFC has not been good.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
There mounting moaning, groaning from the fan.
Speaker 13 (36:49):
Base about all we can't even take advantage of this officer. Yeah, Joe,
everybody else is down. But now, like you said, hey,
you know.
Speaker 5 (36:56):
If the season already in today a people be mad.
Speaker 13 (36:59):
But the road to the Super Bowl would be going
through Lucas Oil Stadium. So it is a great.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
Time right now if you're if you're an NFL football.
Speaker 13 (37:08):
Fan in the s Indian, if you're a coach fan,
especially with the fevers use obviously you know the patrios
are gonna be tipping off in a couple of weeks
without Tyre's Hollerberg you're talking about the Colts and what's
and what's going on tomorrow afternoon at three thirty in
Oregon and Eugene organ What.
Speaker 12 (37:26):
Are you playing?
Speaker 5 (37:27):
Uh?
Speaker 12 (37:28):
I use the football is great in the city of
Indiana these days.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
Now it is too.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
I can't wait until tomorrow with all you in Oregon too,
just to see you know where they are and the
rest of the football world basically Mike riding them off
before they even get.
Speaker 8 (37:44):
Out to Eugene.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
That's gonna be. That's gonna be some fun. What you
got going on this weekend, buddy?
Speaker 5 (37:50):
Oh man?
Speaker 13 (37:51):
Listen, just hanging out the family doing that a little bit,
and your your girl, Laila Wells is out there. But
the last two weeks a fall break.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
You listening, boy, my man?
Speaker 5 (38:04):
Tell you what you guys.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
You guys get two weeks, two weeks at Brownsburg.
Speaker 5 (38:08):
Yeah, they get, they get two weeks from Round Bird.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
Since you get two weeks, that's ridiculous. We needed two
days during in service days. What do you need two
weeks in the fall? That's listen.
Speaker 5 (38:21):
When well my kids were younger, I couldn't stand it.
Speaker 13 (38:23):
But now they're self sufficient, so I can give a
rep for tuty about it. But the second week, the
second week is the start of a high school basketball
season and everything.
Speaker 12 (38:34):
So it's really only one week for Laila.
Speaker 13 (38:39):
In the tale woman's soccer game last night and he
had no interest in one day on the school today.
I'm like, bro, you're off for the next two weeks
and you want to and start fall break the day
early man, these kids.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
He was always grounded this time of year because my Yeah,
I was always grounded this time of year because my
report cards were so bad.
Speaker 5 (39:00):
So when you were little man, no time to change.
Speaker 13 (39:02):
Like when you were grounded, did your mom say you're
go in the backyard and grab a switch off the
tree so you can beat your butt.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
No, my grandma did. Now, my mom just grounded my
ass all the time, grounded all the time.
Speaker 5 (39:17):
And Grandy used to give it to your hunt.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
Yeah, and then my my mom now has revision is
history and thinks something such a oh you know what,
he never was a problem.
Speaker 7 (39:26):
I'm thinking, well, why the hell is my as ground
still is a problem. So, yeah, I got I got
the belt. I'm talking about the old school belt.
Speaker 5 (39:34):
You had to paddle with your name on it. Christs
paddle on it?
Speaker 1 (39:37):
Did that?
Speaker 13 (39:38):
Was it?
Speaker 7 (39:39):
You know what's funny is back in my day in school,
like the head coach could just break out the wooden
paddle and go to go to town. And like if you
went home and said I got paddled, your parents would say, well.
Speaker 8 (39:50):
What'd you do? They wouldn't be they wouldn't be calling
the lawyer.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
They'd be asking what you get suspended and paddled back
in the day. Oh yeah, true story right there. Hey, Mike,
tell the lovely layloh, I said, hell, oh, best of
the fam.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
We'll do it again next week.
Speaker 13 (40:02):
All right, hey, you gots be good. Sorry about my
uh it sounded like I was in a bottle at
tender love. But we'll recap it next week. I'd be good,
great weekend win.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
You got it?
Speaker 5 (40:14):
All right?
Speaker 8 (40:14):
Well, you see it.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
Let's go ahead and get him on here.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
I'm gonna go ahead and start before we get to
the Cardinals and the Colts. And we got tickets to
give away with Bud Light of a Blue Friday five pair.
In fact, here at sam Silver Circle, we'd love to
see you. The former coat Side and Charles Arbuckle, from
the radio network also does college football, joined on the
Andy Moore Automotive Greup potline. Hey, because obviously you know
a lot and study in new games collegiately too.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
What do you think about this?
Speaker 2 (40:44):
I you match up with Oregon coming up tomorrow afternoon
in Eugenia at three point thirty.
Speaker 11 (40:50):
I'm really intrigued by jamb I really am, because I
think you know when you have a team like Oregon
who's fast and they get after you, and then kaching
Eddie's team is physical and they're fast. But I think
there's a lot of a lot of things that are
going to happen in that game that you know you
have to make the turn. And we talked about Mendoza.
I don't think people realize what a good player.
Speaker 5 (41:13):
He was going to be.
Speaker 11 (41:14):
You and I were on that early on. So I
think this is going to be a lot of fireworks.
Both teams can score, so to me, it becomes it
becomes who can stop the other defensively, And I think
that's what you has to really look at when you're
playing in Oregon. That Opson Stadium is loud. They're going
to feel like they're right on top of you. I
think I don't know if Indiana's played there. If they have,
(41:36):
I don't remember the time that they have, but it
is one of those places that they don't manufacture a
lot of noise because it's so loud in there. I
can remember playing there in Washington, those two places on
the road when I was in the Pac ten now
gone PAC twelve would be so dog gone loud. I
think Indiana has to get ready for that, and it'd
be a little damn as it always is up in
(41:56):
Oregon if it's a little bit of rain and the ball.
So I look forward to a fast, physical game and
I think the team that makes the least mistakes will
be the one that comes out on top.
Speaker 8 (42:06):
Hey, Bucket's Chris Hagen. Good to talk to you, as always.
Speaker 7 (42:08):
I think maybe like in two thousand and three, four
or five, somewhere like that, I think Jerry DeNardo took
IU out to Oregon and maybe they won or they
played it closer than you thought it would be.
Speaker 8 (42:19):
But my question to.
Speaker 7 (42:20):
You is you watch a lot of pro ball, you
watch college ball, and we know this is a tough
question because GM struggle with it year in and year out.
When you see a college player at VI, at Mendoz
or somebody else, can you see things that tell you, Okay,
that's going to translate.
Speaker 8 (42:34):
This guy's going to play in the league.
Speaker 7 (42:36):
And are you do Some guys just stand out and
usually you're right, Yeah.
Speaker 11 (42:42):
I mean I think you know, Dante Moore was one
of those guys for Oregon who was at UCLA. We
just didn't have the right system and setup for him.
And I think they started him too early, and you
could see now having something behind Dylan Gabriel had a
chance to really get comfortable and learn. So Nandol Mendoza though.
For something about him that I like is his physical toughness.
(43:04):
I've always said that was the thing that stood out
to me, and it's the ability to be anticipatory with
your crows. You know, I think a lot of people
think you have to throw the ball really hard. That's
not always the case. There's certain times where you have
to do things with the football to get an in
tight spot and windows.
Speaker 14 (43:21):
We watched that last night with Jackson Dark.
Speaker 11 (43:24):
The anticipation, how the receivers start to have a little
step in the pep in their step.
Speaker 14 (43:28):
Look at Daniel Jones when he was really good at
New York.
Speaker 11 (43:31):
He would get the ball in positions where guys could
make plays, and they always talked about him having a
catch up a ball. Look at that in Indiana, I
mean in Indianapolis. So I look for quarterbacks that not
only can throw hard, but also know how to throw
with different velocities and different touches to different areas of
the field and put the ball even almost like a
you know, point guard that can just kind of lock
(43:52):
things over at certain times. That's what you look for
for quarterbacks. For me, I think sometimes offensive coordinators in
the league get to enameled with their system him as
opposed to fitting the system to the player.
Speaker 7 (44:04):
It's what I always say buck about the quarterbacks. They'll say, oh,
he's got a rocket for an arm or a cannon
for an arm, and I say, hey, yeah, that's great,
but sometimes you just need a pellet gun.
Speaker 8 (44:12):
You don't need that rocket.
Speaker 11 (44:13):
Well, i'm gonna tell you I saw a couple of
guys played. I was in Green Bay for a few weeks.
Brett Farr broke damn that broke my hand a couple
of times, glove that was torn off, but Brett Brett
knew how to speed it up and he could spend
it down. Troy Aigman could throw a fastball, but Troy
threw a catchable ball. Dann Marino, I'm gonna tell you,
when you stood on the sideline, you wanted to watch him.
Speaker 1 (44:33):
For the week.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
The ball would come out.
Speaker 5 (44:36):
But there was something about those guys that could play.
I mean, so, I've seen a lot of quarterbacks that.
Speaker 11 (44:41):
Had cannons for arms, but I've also seen guys like
Don Mkowski who didn't have the strongest arm, but when
Don was you know, in his heyday with Green Bay
and even when he got to us, magic could really
spin it. You just gotta know, you know, you love
guys that know how to play the game and know
how to get the ball to you. Jeff George was
another one guy. We sometimes a practic at the ball
didn't hit the ground, but when it got to the game,
(45:03):
it wasn't the same thing.
Speaker 14 (45:04):
It just it just didn't translate.
Speaker 2 (45:06):
To Charles Arbuckle, the Colts analysts as well joins us
on the Anymore Automotive Group highlight the former Colts tight end.
So what do you make of this matchup coming up
at Lucas Oil Stadium. You've got defensive coordinator offensive coordinator
formerly on the same staff. Is there anything meaningful in
preparation behind that from two dudes that know each other
(45:30):
as well as Gannon and Snyken do.
Speaker 11 (45:34):
Yeah, it does, Jambi, because they match widthed against each other.
They've they've talked about offense and defensive football. They battled
each other in that capacity. So there are some things
that you know as a tendency of things they like
to fall back on, even though the personnel is different.
Right at the end of the day, you kind of
have a mindset as a play caller, if you're a
(45:54):
defensive play caller or an offensive play caller, for things
that guys like to do or what they have attendance
to do. And I think that's what you have to
guard against when you're looking at a game like this.
Speaker 14 (46:04):
The thing was psyching, though.
Speaker 11 (46:05):
I think he's been able to really play some tough defenses,
Like the one defense in particular I thought he did a.
Speaker 14 (46:12):
Good job against was those guys over at you know,
with Denver.
Speaker 11 (46:16):
Denver is a team that has a really good offense,
really good defense.
Speaker 14 (46:20):
And they were still able to score points. So that's
the thing that.
Speaker 11 (46:22):
I liked about that particular game, and I think that's
going to do the same thing.
Speaker 14 (46:27):
That's Cardinals defense is really really tough.
Speaker 11 (46:29):
And I'm outside at a hospital, so part me for
the noise in the background. But I think from a
defensive standpoint, lou has an understanding of this. Was Kyler Murray,
even if he's limited, he's a guy you have a
staff his ledge and if Jacobe Brissett the some of
the guys on the team have an understanding of what
he does and what they're going to have to do
(46:50):
to stop him.
Speaker 2 (46:54):
It's Charles Arbuckle Andy Moore on the Mother Group potline.
I would absolutely agree with that that particular assess, But
I also think the Cardinals aren't Charles defensively, especially they've
looked bad because their fourth quarters recently have looked really bad.
But this is a team that may be only having
(47:15):
a couple of recognizable names.
Speaker 1 (47:17):
They can be you up if they get down to it.
Speaker 11 (47:21):
Well, I agree with you, I said from me from
a standpoint of such a football team.
Speaker 14 (47:27):
They got some dudes that can get after you. And
Klais Thompbull.
Speaker 11 (47:30):
How old this is be about one hundred years old
now still playing. I mean, yeah, Buddha Baker, who just
one of those guys that's been just really really good
at a high level for a long time. You know,
they on every level, they have guys that you don't
always think about with big names, but just productive, productive players.
(47:50):
You know, the Colts are gonna have their work cutout
for him against this defense. I mean they're gonna really
have to play and I think you hit the nail
on the head. Not a lot of name guys, but
a lot of guys that have some productive stats and
can play and in the force sheet to not make mistakes.
Speaker 7 (48:07):
Buck, Why are we seeing players continue to not know
how to hold the football long enough to get into
the end zone.
Speaker 11 (48:15):
Man, for the life of me, I don't understand that one.
I think it's just you've got no matter how much
you coach it. I don't know how many guys want
to start thinking about their celebration and what's interesting. Think
about how many celebrations Cam binem has had or Kenny Moore,
and they've been defensive guys. I think they value the
(48:35):
ball a little bit more. I've never really seen a
defensive guy let the ball down too song because he
doesn't get it as much offensively. We're so used to
catching it and running with it.
Speaker 3 (48:44):
No excuses.
Speaker 9 (48:45):
But it just seems to be one of those.
Speaker 11 (48:47):
Things, no matter how much you coach it, a guy
is thinking more about the celebration.
Speaker 14 (48:52):
Than the actual finishing of the play. You got all
that room in the end zone, just get to the
back of it and then you can do whatever the hell.
Speaker 5 (48:59):
You want to do.
Speaker 7 (49:01):
It's ten yards deep in the ends and granted, like,
trust me, except for junior high, I've never crossed that
goal line and had that moment. And when a guy's
going in for maybe his first career score and there's
so much going on, you've just made a great play.
But it's just perplexing to me that you can't make
sure you're well and good inside that door before you
(49:22):
start doing anything besides running with the ball high and tight.
Speaker 11 (49:27):
Yeah, it blows me away to see that continuously happen.
But I think I will say this. I think it's
gonna make ad Mitchell better. It's going to teach.
Speaker 5 (49:38):
Him how and look at what I mean.
Speaker 11 (49:39):
Jonathan Taylor had more time in the league, so I
think it was easier for him, but that was still
a hard thing and he even has to ask the
questions about it now at the end of the day,
I don't I would be shocked if we see any
other could players do it this year?
Speaker 3 (49:55):
Now?
Speaker 11 (49:55):
I can't say about next year, but if it happens,
I would want to know what repercussions.
Speaker 14 (50:02):
Would be because you know you can't do that.
Speaker 5 (50:05):
You can't give away the touchdown that you worked so
hard to get.
Speaker 7 (50:10):
Well last week, when a Mari de Mercado did it
for the Cardinals coach coach Gannon let him up on
the sideline and he gets fined one hundred thousand dollars
for getting into him and kind of giving him a shove.
I know when you, I know, you probably got coached
up a lot different than folks get coached up nowadays.
And to me, I liked it when a coach was
(50:30):
rough on me and let me know, let me know
that I made a mistake. How do you think how
would you react to a coach if you made a
bonehead play, if he let you up.
Speaker 8 (50:39):
How would you have taken that back in your day?
Speaker 3 (50:42):
Well, I had it happen quite a bit.
Speaker 11 (50:44):
The only thing with Dannon is when he pushed them,
and you know, and he I think there's a certain
time and a place too. And I've had coaches that
are litt me up and nobody even knew they did.
Speaker 3 (50:54):
Because there's a.
Speaker 11 (50:55):
Way you can do it well, when you can get
in a face and you just you let them know
and put the fear.
Speaker 5 (51:01):
Of God in them.
Speaker 11 (51:02):
But when you start proving your head and then you
push them people like I mean, hell, I mean here,
we all have been cussed out and we looked at
it like whoa nobody else saw but choose. So I
think there's the way you do it. And then definitely
when you finish that game, because you might need that
kid or whatever it is some more. You don't want
to you don't want to take away what you know
(51:22):
he has. And I've seen coaches dress somebody down, but
they come back and say, hey, look, I need you
back in this or.
Speaker 14 (51:29):
That might have been too much. I might have gave
you too much, but you know, in the heat of
the moment, that's going to happen.
Speaker 11 (51:33):
So yeah, it's a sport that happens like that, man,
And it's hard, especially when the margins of winning are
so tight.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
Hey, Charles, before I let you go, the Colts had
an opportunity early on to get your main print. He
goes to the Raiders and then they cut him loose
last week and the Colts pick him up on a
one year deal to assumingly play opposite with Joe Botchi
going down on ir with a foot injine Zaire, Franklin, do.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
You think this is going to work?
Speaker 2 (52:04):
And this is one of those situations where what the
hell you might as well with somebody that knows the defense,
and lou Anroumo as well as your main Pratt might.
Speaker 11 (52:15):
I think it's a good place for them to be
because I think your main Pratt is a guy that.
Speaker 5 (52:20):
Can make a difference for him.
Speaker 11 (52:21):
And I think the other thing you got to look
at here is that he has been so productive where
he's been. Now the key for them is how do
you get him up to speed and ready to play
that second linebacker. That week's out linebacker has not played
consistently well, And I think that's the thing you have
to look at if you're a Colts fans.
Speaker 2 (52:41):
Charles Arbuckle, Colts Radio Network, college football analyst and friend
of the show Former Coats tied end on Andy Moorem
Automotive Group plotline. Appreciate you hopping on today, man, We'll
do it again. Enjoy the games this weekend and we'll
catch up next week.
Speaker 1 (52:57):
Charles.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
Thank you, hey man, Thanks a lot. For all those
folks that have been dealing.
Speaker 14 (53:01):
With breast cancer or any kind of cancer, let's this
is the mud for it. So let's make sure we
think about those fumus.
Speaker 1 (53:08):
You got that right, Thank you, Charles, Thank you.
