Speaker 3 (00:16):
Hey, what you like to do? Oh? I don't know?

Speaker 4 (00:20):
Play chess?

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Screw well theer's play chest they give off the Jonathan
Taylor Chuck cunning its way clock of the goal line.

Speaker 5 (00:27):
He's in there.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Put Downde.

Speaker 6 (00:31):
Why Jonathan Taylor Wheeler finds.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Here's Halibert into the front board.

Speaker 7 (00:38):
Mishandled it. Mcgainst a shy.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Fs it, John.

Speaker 6 (00:44):
I have never been better to be on the air
with you here in Indianapolis, a place where so many
of my dreams have come.

Speaker 8 (00:51):
True, with the ride with jm V on ninety three
five and one oh seven five the Fan.

Speaker 9 (00:57):
Let me tell you, my friends, I so love a
bloodlight blue, and I love it in one of our
favorite places.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
You know how legendary.

Speaker 9 (01:04):
I was explaining on our crossover a moment ago to
ja Querry how legendary this place is, Barryinger's Tavern on
South Meridian. I was trying to explain it to somebody.
They say, hey, is it downtown? I mean, hell, it
might as well be downtown. It is as near downtown
as you can get, and it's so easy to get
to so easy to park and so easy to be

(01:27):
a part of this show where you could win if
you're here Raiders Colts tickets because the Colts are back home,
coming up next week.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
So my advice to you is to get down here.

Speaker 9 (01:38):
Let's just say, for example, you're coming south side on
your way home from downtown.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Stop in now. I will also tell you.

Speaker 9 (01:47):
That there are so many slow downs in traffic around
town right now, what the hell? You come down here,
hang out for a little bit, maybe win yourself some
Raiders Colts tickets, and then go back home and there's
no traffic, there's no headache. You're not gonna get all

(02:08):
bent out of shape about something. You're gonna be chill
because we have one hell of a time. They have
an old school Bengo ball rolling cage over there that
I got to tell Rob about this.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I absolutely love that right there.

Speaker 9 (02:23):
That reminds me of Owensburg, Indiana and the every other
Saturday night Bengo night right there.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
That's beautiful.

Speaker 9 (02:29):
We'll talk to Rob, who is the owner of Short
Video if you want to check that app at JMV
ten seventy. On the social media platforms also on Facebook
and on Instagram. Rob and I shot that a little
bit earlier from out front. We've been coming here a lot, lady,
or lately, i should say, and for good reason, because
this place is so great. I mean, it just is.

(02:51):
It's great. It is legendary eighteen seventy nine. It goes
without saying exactly what this place represents around here, and
I knew that when I was talking to Jaco about it,
I knew that this would hit home for him because
he has such an incredible historian of Indianapolis. This is
it right here, Barringer's tavern. I was just kind of

(03:15):
going in my mind. We talked about Dyllinger before on here,
and you know all the folks infamous and famous that
have been a part of this. It is awesome to
be here once again. We'll talk to Rob coming up
in just a little bit too. On O off friend
Chris Hagen, a Fox fifty nine, who's going to join
us a little bit later on because he also much
liked me, loves this place.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Chris is going to be here Joel A.

Speaker 9 (03:38):
Ericsson and we'll talk is it first in Joel or
fourth and Joe, I can never remember. I think I've
kind of mangled that up so much, James, I can
never remember what it is. But Joeli Eericson of the
Star is on with Hagen, and Joel's going to join
us coming up in the five o'clock hour. There's a
lot of news regarding the Colts today. You guys all

(04:00):
think I'm a jerk, right, you guys.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
All, And I'm not really. I am not a jerk.
I am not a blank. I am not a crank.

Speaker 9 (04:08):
I look in the mirror and I feel as if
like I'm looking at myself in the video right now.
That's online, that's the Triple A Membership Lounge via Yourtube Live.
I think I'm a pretty decent dude, but I'm sorry
I picked against the Colts this weekend. I think this
is going to be one hell of a tall task.
I mean, do I want them to lose?

Speaker 6 (04:28):
No?

Speaker 9 (04:28):
This is great for us. This is great for you guys,
This is great for the Colts. This is great for
us because everybody around here is sick and tired of
being mediocre or worse. So you start out three to
ohero that's outstanding, that's good, and you're feeling good for
the first time in a while, and you have major

(04:49):
reasons to feel good because you can actually look at
something and you can grasp but there always is a.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Different side or another side of the story, and.

Speaker 9 (04:59):
The other side this story is this, simply put, will
be the toughest test this squad has seen. It's funny
you look at this game this weekend and it's to
go for and oh, I mean it is too.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
We'll see what happens with Houston.

Speaker 9 (05:17):
Houston's got Tennessee at home, you know, and Jacksonville. We'll
see what happens within the AFC South. But you have
the opportunity to get to see a pal. You have
the opportunity to really take a stranglehold early on here.
What's the last time that happened with this Colts team?
I mean getting out in front, getting out early. And

(05:37):
I know I've said before that oftentimes when you have
positive results, when.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
You have.

Speaker 9 (05:44):
An unbeaten record and you're feeling good about your team,
you also rideshotgun with good fortune, and good fortune around
here would mean sidestepping injuries, and clearly this team hasn't
done that. This week is going to be the most
injured that we have seen. Kenny Moore, the second has
been ruled out. Alec Pierce has been ruled out. That

(06:09):
is a quad slash Achilles situation with Kenny.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
That is concussion protocol for Aleck.

Speaker 9 (06:17):
And then I'm assuming that met Gansalvez, the right guard
has what we like to reference as the Sergeant Hulka.
The Sergeant Hulka from Stripes is the big toe. I
don't know if it's a big toe, but there's a
toe injury for mad Gonsalvez.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
So entered Dalton Tucker this weekend.

Speaker 9 (06:37):
Medgansalves has also been ruled out. And we're going to
see if Mike Hilton still has something left in the tank.
We're gonna see if Mike Hilton can turn it around quickly.
Remember I asked about him a couple of weeks back,
and I said, you know, he came in.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Do you remember how.

Speaker 9 (06:55):
The workout went, because the Coast decided against signing him
at that moment, and then ultimately once Kenny Moore got
injured last week, And Mike Hilton is a guy that
you normally plays slot in a similar situation as that
is Kenny Moore.

Speaker 6 (07:11):
And he's also been a guy that has had you know,
lou An Arumo in.

Speaker 9 (07:17):
The past has been somebody he's played for, so there's
familiarity there, which is always good. But this is another
tailtale sign of how good a season you're having.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
And I left this one out.

Speaker 9 (07:32):
Good fortune is being able to not be injured or
to size step injuries, but good fortune also is to
be able.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
To accommodate for those injuries.

Speaker 6 (07:44):
And we're going to see if the Colts can because
this is really the first week they've dealt with injuries
so far this season.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
But this is going to be that first week.

Speaker 6 (07:52):
Where the injuries have been as significant as we have
seen so far this year.

Speaker 9 (08:00):
And you're looking at Mike Hilton, as I mentioned, coming
up in the secondary for Kenny Moore, Dalton Tucker subbing
in from Matt Gonzalvez, and then you're gonna ask for
something that has been a rarity. It's like seeing a
yetti and I'm not talking about a thermos or a
cooler those are common now, but a YETI being bigfoot

(08:21):
and it is a productive game from ad Mitchell. There's
always that talk of the phenomenon.

Speaker 6 (08:29):
There's always that conversation about, man, this guy here he is.
You know, he showed out in camp, he showed out
at Grant Park.

Speaker 9 (08:37):
He showed out in a preseason game. He's catching absolutely everything,
doing absolutely everything, but we have yet to see that
that has been the issue. We'll see if that capability
from ad Mitchell shows up on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
I mentioned yesterday we had Josh Downs on the show.

Speaker 9 (08:59):
Josh Downs has been a guy that has has always
been good but really hasn't popped yet. And I had
mentioned I thought that Josh Downs has every opportunity to
do just that coming up on Sunday. I'll close that
angle with the Colts and the Rams coming up on
Sunday and week number four in Southern California, Bullseye passes

(09:19):
two for the Rams. VIP Tailgate will close out the week.
If anybody is going out there with that coming up
in a minute too, and also a bud Light Blue
Friday Raiders, Colts Tickets, Barringers, South Meridian.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
We would love to see you down here.

Speaker 9 (09:33):
We'll talk more about that in the second But on
the Andy More Auto Motive Group hotline, our birthday guy
has a plane to catch. I can hear him right
now rolling hot to catch that plane. Happy Dirt Birthday
to the Voice of the Hoosiers. Don Fisher. I'm not
going to ask his age because I know this dude
looks like he's thirty, so, by god, he is thirty.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
The voice of the Hoosiers joins us. Now, happy birthday, Don.

Speaker 5 (09:56):
Well, I appreciate that, John, Thank you very much. I'm
on the I sixty nine speedway headed to Bloomington and
trying not to get killed by this traffic.

Speaker 6 (10:11):
Well, you know, the further you get down on the
redneck autumn in southern Indiana, the worst the drivers are.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
You realize that, right.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
All I know is since I sixty nine has been
fixed and we've been able to frequent it with our
passage to Bloomington, it has gotten a lot faster than
I've ever anticipated.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
Yeah, as long as Don, and I know you know this, now,
as long as you get sidestep that Barney fIF guy
that sits in the weeds right there beneath the overpass
next to Martinsville High School, you're all good.

Speaker 9 (10:51):
Well, I know they sit there, trust me, they certainly
certainly do. So Don's on his way die in a
city and the broadcast coming up Tomorrow'm assuming two thirty
your coverage begins and three point thirty. Is that kick
from Iowa City coming up tomorrow. This is the first
road test and really a significant road test, and it's

(11:13):
always a tough place to play no matter what type
of team you have, and in Iowa the Hawkey's done.
It seems like they have the type of team that
that who's your fans should be familiar with coming up tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
Well, there's no question it's a we haven't played. It's
an interesting job.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
We haven't played Iowa but three times in the last
ten years, and the last time was believe it, twenty one,
and we lost that ball game. That was if you
remember the year everybody thought Indiana was gonna really come
on and start playing great football and Michael Pennigs was
in his heyday at that point. And Michael Pennigs, I

(11:57):
guess the best way to put it was, had a
really tough day. And yeah, he threw an interception. He
threw an interception on the first series of the ballgame
and from there it was down the.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
Tubes, as was the seedon at that point. So it
was not pretty.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
But nevertheless, Indiana lost that ball game. And now they
face a Kirk Farran's coach team that we can expect
to be really tough.

Speaker 9 (12:21):
They put you on the grind, Don, I mean, that's historically,
I think been the proposition for Kirk Farnce and an
Iowa Hawkeye team. They put you on the grind and
forced you into playing their style and if you get
involved in that, sometimes you can't get out of it,
and that makes it tough, and especially when you play
them in Iowa City.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
Yeah, that's a fact, John. They really are a good
football team. They're well coached. Obviously, parents is the winningest
coach now in college.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
Are in the Big Ten Football.

Speaker 5 (12:53):
Two hundred and seven victories. He surpassed Woody Hayes and
Boucheff Beckler and Joe Finternal and Amos Alazos Stag and
all those people.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
That tells you something.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
In twenty seven years, he's been absolutely a tremendous coach
for Iowa and one of the classiest guys you'll ever
talk to too. He's really a good guy.

Speaker 9 (13:16):
Yeah, there's no doubt about that. Kirk Franz, the head
coach of the Iowahawk Guys. Voice of the Hoosiers, Don
Fisher on his birthday rolling hot down to Bloomington to
catch a flight to Iowa City for the game coming
up tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
It is i You and Iowa from Iowa City.

Speaker 9 (13:30):
So you go back a week ago to that Saturday nighter,
and so much was made about that.

Speaker 6 (13:35):
We had talked about that on Friday. It was all
and then some for Hoosier fans.

Speaker 9 (13:41):
Expectations, the environment, the game, I mean all of it.
What was it for you as far as just enjoyment
and calling a football game, Well.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
It was just good to see you get John. Last
year we had three or four sellouts.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
At the end of the season. It was always.

Speaker 5 (13:58):
Chaotic, a great fan base.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
They were there, they were cheering their butts off.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
But I'm knowing your last Saturday was maybe the best
I've ever seen it at Indiana. It was standing room only.
There wasn't anybody in the crowd that wasn't screaming their
head off. It was so loud. It was just absolutely
what you'd expect a football program at Indiana University to
become and has now become that. And I say that

(14:27):
because for so long it has not been that way,
and it's been year after year of disappointment, or every
once in a while you got a glimmer of hope
and then it went away. Very quickly, and then of
course kurtin Signetti came on the scene and we've seen
nothing but success since. So all I can tell you
is it was really special. And to beat Illinois like

(14:50):
they beat them, being ranked eighth in the country at
the time and Indiana rank seventies. They jump up obviously
the rankings this week. So it was just so much
fun and it's so much it's such a pleasure and
an honor to be a part of this program right now.

Speaker 9 (15:08):
All right, for everything, don that was really good last Saturday,
What on that level stuck out to you more as
far as that team was concerned with IU and their win,
scoring sixty three, What was the positive that stuck out
to you the most in that game?

Speaker 5 (15:27):
I think I think Bernando Mendoza, just because he just
has gotten better in each game that he's played this year,
and that was the first really big stage game that
he's played on and he looked every bit the quarterback
we saw the week before against Indiana State. I mean,
he was stunned out, but twenty and twenty, I mean

(15:48):
he missed three passes on to day through five touchdowns, Fernando.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
Mendoz proved me he's the guy.

Speaker 5 (15:58):
There's no catch that he's got a things here after
cooledge football.

Speaker 9 (16:06):
Yeah, I mean it, it was an incredible performance. There
is a little doubt about that. And why right in
closing here and I know you get a run because
you got to catch a flight here on your way
to bloom me to Don Fisher voice. So the Hoosiers
joins us. What's what really stares you in the face
as far as being a worry point, a troublesome point,

(16:27):
or maybe not so much that maybe that's over extending. Well,
something that clearly this Hoo's your team has to deal
with on the road above and bey all and above
and beyond all else coming up tomorrow more or tomorrow
afternoon's starting at three thirty. What stands out to you
about this Hawkeye team.

Speaker 5 (16:45):
Well, the thing that I have always been leary of
what we go to Iowa City is Kinnick Stadium.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Then their fan base. They are truiply and they.

Speaker 5 (16:54):
Followed their team everywhere that they go. They're very loud,
they're chaotic, just like Indiana history. Come and there's seventy
thousand of them there, so they're going to even be
louder than won't we experienced in Bloomington, but that's not
the big thing. I think the big thing in this
game for Indiana, John is not allowing Iowa to control

(17:16):
the ballgame. Another word, ioways going to try to slow
this thing down, try to get it into their pace,
and just like you said at the very beginning here,
they're going to try and grind it out and try
to make Indiana have to fight their tailoff just to
get the ball back. And I think the big that's
the thing that you've got.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
To worry about the most.

Speaker 5 (17:37):
If Indiana can make big plays, maybe fairly early in
the ballgame, I think that changes everything for Iowa, and
so I hope that they have explosive place like they
did against Illinois, at least fairly early on in the contest,
and they can get Iowa out of their rhythm and
what they like to do. And if they can do that,
I think Indiana wins going away.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Yeah there's a zero.

Speaker 9 (18:00):
Hey, this Hawkaye team can play any sort of catchup.
So if you get out and flex offensively early and
force them into that mode, I'm going to feel really
good about the experience of the Sushia team at Iowa
City tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
Me too, And I think that's the key I will give.
I will give Iowa credit. They were basically tied with
the Rutgers going into halftime last week, and then they
control the rest of the football game in the second
half of that contest.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
So that's the thing Indiana's got to keep from.

Speaker 5 (18:31):
They cannot allow Iowa to get control of the football
game and control the football keep it away from Indiana's offense.

Speaker 9 (18:38):
All right, Well, Don Fisher's on his road to Bloomington
to catch a flight to Iowa City again. Coverage begins
two thirty coming up tomorrow afternoon, right here, three point thirty?
Is that kick from Kinnick Stadium at Iowa City? Are
you bummed because you're not going to be able on
your birthday to sit back and watch me consume beers
later off tonight? Does that bum you out a little
bit on your birthday?

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Well, of course, John, I was looking forward to that.
I was looking forward to it, you know that.

Speaker 9 (19:07):
How does how's Dom Fisher celebrating his birthday on the road.
How's this going to happen tonight? Who's buying?

Speaker 10 (19:13):
Well?

Speaker 5 (19:14):
I believe we've been invited to dinner with Scott Dolson
and his wife. I think our whole crew has been invited.
So uh, I think we're gonna have a good time
at Iowa City.

Speaker 9 (19:27):
Oh, Man Dolson, he's not taking your like the convenience
store or anything like that.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
You're going to a real restaurant and everything right that.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
I don't know.

Speaker 11 (19:38):
We may be going to We may be going to McDonald's.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
Who knows.

Speaker 6 (19:43):
Man, we'll give him some joke next week if that's
what happened. No, I bet you for for a legend,
it's got to be a legend. I don't know any
legendary spots in Iowa City, Like like when I think
about Bloomington, I'm thinking, all right, so Doltson's gonna take
you guys all the Yankos or something like that.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
So I don't know where that might be in Iowa City.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 5 (20:05):
I honestly don't know either anymore.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
It used to be. I can't help thinking the name
of it.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
Jady Campbell's spoken to me earlier today or actually an
email or text yesterday, but I can't remember the name
of the place.

Speaker 4 (20:19):
But it was really good, but it closed down.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
It's no longer open anymore, So I don't know what
the best spot at Iowa City is these days?

Speaker 9 (20:29):
Oh man, Well, Scott Dolson is in charge of funding
a great spot for a great dude. On his birthday,
Happy birthday to the Voice of the Hoosiers Don Fischer,
and this reminder two thirty tomorrow afternoon, right here, three
point thirty the kick get extended Iowa City.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
You got Eyeu and the Hawk guys.

Speaker 9 (20:48):
Then a bye week and then ere Gene Oregon, and
Don's going to who knows when Dow's going to come
on here of the week of that.

Speaker 3 (20:55):
But I do know this.

Speaker 9 (20:56):
You and I beers next week. You and I and
Susie beers next Friday, right, buddy, come on now.

Speaker 4 (21:02):
Come on now, I would think that I think that'll work.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
All right, buddy, Hey, happy birthday to you. We appreciate it.

Speaker 9 (21:09):
Have a great call coming up tomorrow and enjoy that
birthday celebration tonight.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
We'll catch up next Friday.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
Thanks, Shaan, boy, I appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (21:16):
Man, you got that's our good friend, Don Fisher, Voice
of the Hoosiers on his birthday on the Andy Moore
Automotive Group, Pilo, I lean Nate over there, man throwing
the football around a little bit right here.

Speaker 9 (21:26):
We got the football toss. We've got Raiders coach tickets
beyond that to give away. You may ask where are we,
I'll tell you Bearringer's Tavern on the south side South Meridian,
Pleasant Run Parkway. Kevin is here. My friends at ZINC,
I love them so much. They actually it's funny. They

(21:46):
give me a I think it was grant. Yesterday they
gave me an etched drinking glass and my kid would absolutely.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Ballistic over it. He goes, and it is mine. I go,
wait a minute, man, I dig this too.

Speaker 9 (21:59):
But it is awesome to be a part of this
with ZINC per usual and Rob's gonna join us. Who
owns Bereringers eighteen seventy nine. This place goes back a
while and it is awesome. We'd love to see you
here at bud Light Blue Friday with our good friend
Bob Lovell.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
We got another week. I believe it's week number six.

Speaker 6 (22:22):
I'll have to check it on that for you though,
the high school football Friday Night.

Speaker 9 (22:26):
I know a lot of you are going everywhere. We'll
talk that up with Bob. Coming up next, Joe A.
Erickson of the Star, The Return of Mike Wells and
the Slow jamm re entry coming up on this Friday,
and Hagen's gonna join us live here as well. From
Fox fifty nine, baron of Tavern, south Side, South Meridian.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
We would love to see you.

Speaker 9 (22:46):

Speaker 6 (24:49):
And then some boys of the users, Don Fisher on
his Birthday Podcast one oh seven five thefan dot Com.
I didn't want to give a shout out before we
get to Bob Lovell here, Match Leader a Parks Ice
Pop and Fisher's We Love Matt.

Speaker 9 (25:02):
Actually Matt and Matt in Parks Place. We're gonna be there,
I think relatively soon, maybe next week in fact. But
he invited me to go to Wrigley on a Cardinals
and Cubs trip. And unfortunately I work seven days a
week now until Thanksgiving, which is all good because I
love it, But thank you Slader for inviting me to that.

(25:25):
But his seven days a week, what do they call it?
It is pedal to the floor, balls to the wall
until Thanksgiving. And this is the time of year, especially
when your favorite teams are playing well. We love meantime
of the Andy Moore Automotive Group potline. Right now yet
another week, Week six of the high school football season.
Indiana sports talk is always and our friends that Express

(25:48):
pro Tired Auto bring Bob Lovell on this Friday end
to talk up week number six.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
Good afternoon, Bob.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
How are you.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Are you there?

Speaker 4 (26:01):
Right here? John?

Speaker 11 (26:02):
I'm doing well?

Speaker 4 (26:02):
How are you?

Speaker 3 (26:04):
I could not be better? Did you ever?

Speaker 10 (26:06):
Hey?

Speaker 9 (26:06):
When you were in high school back in eighteen seventy nine.
Did you come by Beringers ever?

Speaker 12 (26:12):
No, but our friend, our mutual friend, Joe Stasya, Brian Pointer,
Dave Wilson and I have a couple of months ago.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Did you really well one of our favorite spots? Absolutely,
that's that's a hell of a lunchtime group right there.
At all. How'd you couple that one together?

Speaker 8 (26:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (26:34):
I think I think, says and Pointer did that.

Speaker 12 (26:38):
You know, I think they did it, and so you
know what, to get all of us together in the
same reason, quite an accomplishment.

Speaker 6 (26:45):
No, there is no doubt about that. That's the hell
of a room right there. But this is a hell
of a room for that room, right to say the least.

Speaker 9 (26:53):
Let's start right here, and I guess because we get
to return the triumphant return to Mike Wells with the
show a little bit later on here brown Burgh, where
he resides five and zero. Is this later off tonight
on the road at six A, four and one. Westfield
they're fifth ranked in sixth A. This is going to
be their toughest test of the season to date.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
Bomb tonight.

Speaker 12 (27:14):
Yeah, absolutely, I mean Westfield's for real and it's amazing
what Josh Miracle has done. You took over, obviously for
a tremendous job Jay Gilbert had done. They've continued that success.
They are they're legit, And I think it's you know,
you're on the road, you're number one, all the pressure

(27:36):
that goes with that. You're playing a really, really good,
at dangerous and explosive team.

Speaker 11 (27:42):
And so I think listen, Brawsford's played a.

Speaker 12 (27:44):
Great schedule anyway, but I think this is one of,
if not the best challenge they've had to this point.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
Well, and you could make the argument too.

Speaker 9 (27:53):
I know everybody says all you do is talk about
six a Well, okay, but you can make the argument
that this may be the best game of the Friday
night schedule.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
Is it not?

Speaker 11 (28:03):
I would think it's in the top five. I don't
think there's any question.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
I mean when when you I.

Speaker 11 (28:08):
Mean think about it.

Speaker 12 (28:08):
Whatever the class you have, number one taking on number five,
that's a significant matchup. Uh, And it just happens to
be here in Central Indiana, And yeah, I understand. Look,
I've done indiansports off for thirty two years, and even
after thirty two years, I still get accused of being
an Indianapolis based show. Well, well that's where the studio is,

(28:29):
but I talk about everybody around the state.

Speaker 11 (28:31):
But it doesn't matter down They're gonna look at it
that way anyway.

Speaker 9 (28:36):
It's a Bob Lovel of Indiana Sports Talk. Every Friday,
Express Pro Tyronado brings.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
With the thirteen locations.

Speaker 9 (28:43):
Bob on the show from Indiana Sports Talk, with your
Friday night of high school football. This is week number six.
Your Quakers are playing field third ranked five A and
five and zero in.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
The season with a test with six A defending five.

Speaker 9 (29:00):
I've a champion Decatur Central right down there on the
southwest side of Indie off of State Road sixty seven.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
What are we thinking about, Bob with that matchup?

Speaker 12 (29:10):
Conference matchup always a big conference matchup, was even when
I was in school, and it is a I think
a clear test for both teams and Indicator Central is
starting to play much better. Quakers stumbled early and playing
much better too. So you have two teams that are
playing their best football at a time when you.

Speaker 11 (29:30):
Need to continue to be that way. And I think
that's a great matchup.

Speaker 12 (29:35):
I know that, you know, we talked about, you know, matchups, John,
I think talking about Decator excuse me talking about Brownsburg
and their matchup with the Westfield, I'm not so sure.
The best matchup isn't in five A with New Palestine.
Excuse me with Yeah, New Palin Bloomington South. That may

(29:55):
be the best game around.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
Well, here's the thing.

Speaker 9 (30:00):
They they must be really doing Kyle Ralph Well, I've
often wondered he's had so so much of a consistent
and I mean elite level results there.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
They must do one hell of a job to keep
that dude around.

Speaker 11 (30:17):
Well, I think.

Speaker 12 (30:19):
The fact that he has a tradition that he's developed.
H he has a great system all the way through.
You know the grades, they have tremendously talented guys, they
have a great infrastructure, you're eating support from the community
and the administration.

Speaker 11 (30:35):
Uh, those things are hard to find. And when you're
when you have that and you're in the success he's had,
I don't think you could. I don't think there are
better jobs.

Speaker 6 (30:42):
Quite frankly might listen. It's tough to find if you
are going to find it, no question about that. Hey,
I'm gonna give you the.

Speaker 9 (30:50):
Southern Indiana matchup of the evening week number six, Bob,
are you ready.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
I'm ready when you were.

Speaker 9 (30:55):
But how about four A. They're coming up from Santa
Claus on the road to Hobstott. Five and oh number
one and four A Heritage Hills and Gibson Southern at
four and one A shout out to Hobstott.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
It's gonna be hopping coming up later off tonight.

Speaker 9 (31:14):
Nobody knows how to spell it, but you're certainly gonna
be able to party and play at it tonight.

Speaker 11 (31:19):
Well, if you're a race man, you've been to the racetrack,
so maybe that helps.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 12 (31:25):
Well, I think it's a fantastic game. I think you
coil you. You rattled off the stats. Heritage Hills with
Jet Goldsberry. He is a legit mister football candidate. They
won the championship a year ago. He was fantastic. A
lot of those guys are back. They have incredibly talented kids.

(31:46):
A couple of their interior linemen are going to SEC school,
so up front there they're a formidable opponent.

Speaker 11 (31:52):
You love what Nick Hart has done at at Gibson Sun.
They'll throw the ball.

Speaker 12 (31:59):
This one would be a fantasty at Frankly, my personal
favorite in terms of games, tonight.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
I mean it is.

Speaker 12 (32:06):
This is a state championship level competition tonight, John, And
it wouldn't surprise me if even the one of them
won the five eight championship, excuse me, the four A
championship and Bob love you.

Speaker 11 (32:18):
Have to get through his garden to get to that point.

Speaker 9 (32:20):
But but do be good, Jesus, it's Bob lovell of
then he had a sports talk right there. I'm gonna
give some love to this one too. Shout out to
a good friend. We ever talked to him in a while,
Jim Sergey, his son Jack is the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
I believe it. Try West, right, he's going to Louisville.
I think he's already committed. Four and one.

Speaker 9 (32:39):
Try West, And how about from Trafalgar, which is equally
difficult to spell, Like Hobstott, you got three a four
and one Indian Creek and a battle of four and
ones later on tonight.

Speaker 12 (32:52):
It's a great game. Indian Creek has just been but
both of them have had a tremendous run. Indian Creek
quite Franklin might have surprised a few people, but try
West to have These are two teams, John, have great
tradition and great support. Uh, and they're playing superior football

(33:13):
right now.

Speaker 11 (33:14):
So add this to that.

Speaker 12 (33:15):
Uh, that that great in the list of tremendous games
going on tonight.

Speaker 6 (33:21):
Yeah, and then obviously in two a Adam Central number one,
five and oh Brownstown Central.

Speaker 9 (33:26):
Five and oh they get ohero and five Seymour. That's
probably not gonna end well for the Owls.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (33:31):
Number three is Lapel they're five and oh one and
four Rushville Brighton Central is five and oh the pride
is Shelby County right there, shout out right there, and they.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
Get for eleven and four and one. Bob.

Speaker 12 (33:44):
Later on tonight, theam Abel's guys that Tryon Central have
been playing well. They are a fundamentally sound team, John,
They don't make mistakes.

Speaker 10 (33:52):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (33:52):
They have a crushing running game.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
And so you like I like him, I like them,
I like.

Speaker 11 (33:59):
Everything they do.

Speaker 12 (34:00):
Lebanon is playing awfully, awfully well. Elevens won four.

Speaker 11 (34:03):
At this point. So this is another one of those games.
Two really really good football teams.

Speaker 3 (34:10):
Bob A Lovell of Indiana Sports Talk.

Speaker 9 (34:13):
You got that, and you got a lot of college
action going on this weekend, don't you, buddy?

Speaker 11 (34:17):
We absolutely do. It's one of those great weekends.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
John, it is, isn't it? Are you staked out at
Franklin are ready to go later on tonight?

Speaker 12 (34:27):
I'm in for the night, brother, Although my wife and
I we are gonna do something we don't normally do.
We're sneaking out for his early dinner because John, sixty
one years ago.

Speaker 11 (34:38):
Today, I had my first date with the prettiest girl.

Speaker 12 (34:42):
At Plainfield Junior High And little did we know that
we'd still be together sixty one years later.

Speaker 3 (34:49):
I'm gonna tell you what, that's a story that needs
to be on film right there.

Speaker 9 (34:54):
Has anybody written that screenplay of your love affair of
sixty one years?

Speaker 12 (34:59):
No, we've been married fifty six lady, right out of
high school, and it's it's listen. We're incredibly proud of it.
We still like each other, and I think that's the
amazing thing. You can understand this with your schedule. In
the fifty six years of marriage, I've never been home
on the weekends.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
That's incredible. Hey, Yeah, fifty one years.

Speaker 12 (35:25):
Ago today we went to watch the Plainfield High School
football team.

Speaker 11 (35:29):
That was our first date.

Speaker 9 (35:32):

Speaker 12 (35:53):

ever predicted, and it couldn't have gone better.

(36:28):
Rob's going to join us a little bit later on. Hey,
I need some text line action right here. Almost I
need some action, which may also be true, but yeah,
I need some text line action right here. Three one, seven, two, nine,
ten seventy Anybody give me a little action right here
regarding the Colts and the Rams this weekend, about maybe

(36:49):
picking against them would inspire you to give me some
blank and you haven't yet nothing. Don Fisher a little
bit earlier on his birthday, I will say this Chris
is here, Chris, not that one.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
Put that one over there and grab that one there
you go there, but that one over the air and
grab that one.

Speaker 9 (37:13):
But uh, Chris Hammer, I don't know if his dad,
Jason Hammer, who's right across the hall where James is
sitting right now? Hi, James, Chris Hammer looks like Scott's
stapp of Creed in here? Is that a quality from
the Hammer family that I'm completely unaware of?

Speaker 3 (37:28):
Right here? Yeah, Scott's stab working of Creed.

like Rick Ventore's.

Speaker 10 (40:29):
Take, you know, on these regular seasons, you know, you gotta.

Speaker 13 (40:32):
Treat them as seventeen individual weeks with different circumstances and
dynamics to them. And I think Stikan is doing you know,
he's doing a good job. But after year listening to
these guys, they seem like they were all locked in.
They're all like pulling in the same direction. And that
is what's different from the team. You know, day one

(40:53):
mentality and the guitar that he's given out before the games.
This is all you know, progress as you know from
the head coach department, because you could tell these guys
are are locked in, so they got to keep it going.

Speaker 9 (41:07):

I thought that was the only to bringing back on.
He's been the mi I A for the past month
or plus or so. Mike Wells ESPN Radio from Brownsburg, Indiana.
Friend of the Show is on the Andy Moore on
a Motive Group, Paula and are you feeling good to
be back.

Speaker 10 (43:14):
Man, it feels so good and that is a great
re entry song for me to roll back in on.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
Uh listen, life is life has been hected last couple
of minutes, last couple of months.

Speaker 11 (43:25):
Yeah, your girl, lady Lee Wells.

Speaker 2 (43:28):
Has kept me busy traveling around. Hey, yes, well, all
these good things and stuff, but it feels so good
to be back with the crew and a great job
bringing back.

Speaker 10 (43:40):
A little nineteen ninety two, nineteen ninety three.

Speaker 6 (43:43):
Still yes, mik, me babies, how's our how's our girl
Leyla doing?

Speaker 3 (43:48):
Over?

Speaker 10 (43:48):
There?

Speaker 3 (43:49):
Is Hoop's doing doing well over in Brownsburg?

Speaker 4 (43:52):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (43:53):
Uh, you know it's a little she got. I have
to pour out of the bed at five am for
five to forty five a workouts from Tuesdays and Thursday.
But once she gets something gets downstairs life. Yeah, all
of well, once she gets downstairs. But she's doing good.
How'm I gonna lady doing?

Speaker 9 (44:12):
She is awesome, taking her all that, she's going to everything,
and hey, Mike, and then I throw this in like
some of her coaching staff will play on Thursday night
and then I whip their ass too for good measure.
How about that? I love you I love I love
whipping the ass of her coaching staff. That makes me
feel good.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
Are you had to give a seton marcial work on
the court?

Speaker 9 (44:33):
Oh well, he doesn't play because he says, Oh, I
mean my back, my back hurts. I go, good God,
I said, just say, you don't want to play. My
back hurts. Okay, my back, my back. Actually I like
him a great deal, but I'm going to make fun
of him right now because that's the first thing he said.

Speaker 3 (44:53):
The reason I don't play is my back hurts.

Speaker 9 (44:56):
I said, brother, all of our back hurts, all right,
every last one of us dudes at this age.

Speaker 3 (45:03):
So yeah, it's a poor excuse.

Speaker 2 (45:05):
Mike, oh Man, So lady gets you get into the workouts.

Speaker 3 (45:11):
Yeah, she is good, Mike. I know you feel the
same way about Layla.

Speaker 9 (45:16):
I could not be more proud of her because there
is so much, especially in this day and age of
going through high school, that you have to adjust to
on a daily basis. I mean, I just kind of
jacked around for four years, right, and it all kind
of came to me. But these guys, these guys have
to be prepared and then adapt to stuff. And yeah,

(45:37):
I can't be more proud of her than I am.

Speaker 6 (45:39):
And I know you feel the same way about Layla
because it is much different than when we went through
high school.

Speaker 2 (45:44):
Hey, I tell my kids all the time, Thank goodness
there was no such thing as social media and cell
phones with video, because my ass would have been busted
NonStop doing stupid things when I was in high school,
and uh probably would have been. My parents was a
kick of my butt knowing the things I was doing.

(46:05):
If it was posting on social media on TikTok and
Twitter and snapchat and all that said, oh my god,
I would have to be a perfect angel.

Speaker 10 (46:14):
Instead, I was a paint in the rear d some
thirty years.

Speaker 9 (46:18):
Ago, Mike, even without video, I got in trouble. And
there wasn't a damn day when I wasn't running Balcony
Labs or doing so. I got in trouble even without video.
Can you imagine, I mean, what the mess I would
be with video. There's zero way I could navigate.

Speaker 4 (46:33):
Now.

Speaker 1 (46:34):
Oh man, I'm with you on that lift.

Speaker 2 (46:36):
I'm glad. I'm bad to good.

Speaker 10 (46:39):
It is a great turn to be a sport fan
in the state of Indiana right now. Look at obviously
the fever doing what they're doing on Hatland Cark, I
you the buzz is all charge.

Speaker 2 (46:52):
I spend more time talking to the about I football
and I have all my years of mine down there.
And obviously the day Joe Switzer quarterback is working on
just fine. I figured we got to hit this out
before Pacers started training him where things might kind of
die down a little bit on the heights of the
sports in the city of Indiana.

Speaker 3 (47:13):
Wells.

Speaker 6 (47:14):
When I was pulling in the parking lot here for
the show, I almost just stayed in the car, but
I just listened.

Speaker 3 (47:19):
To you sing. But I'm glad to hear you back
where you belong. And you're right.

Speaker 6 (47:24):
I always, I always said the benchmark of the greatest
sports year in Indiana was the year two thousand, when
so many things went down. You know, Pacers in the finals,
Colts hosted their first playoff game in Indy. F one
was here first year, the Fever Final four was here,
on and on and on. But twenty twenty five is
really giving it a run for its money. And it's
by no means over. I mean, Purdue's going to begin

(47:47):
the season, what John in basketball top five? Yeah, probably
number one. I use making a run for the playoffs.
Here go the fever, Colts off and running. This this
reminds you of why an idiot like me from the
outh has stayed here so long, because once things get
cooking in Central Indiana, there's no place better for sports.

Speaker 2 (48:06):
First of all, it's good to hear my favorite two
foot five ginger's voice. It's good they have they have
you join me. Uh, some things haven't change. I'm still
talking a lot of trash and everything. I'm glad Yost,
but no, you're you're right, Hey, I do. I gotta
say this, and I would love to hear your Todds.

Speaker 11 (48:23):
John.

Speaker 2 (48:23):
I'm sure you discussing on the show, but everybody was saying,
what the hell was Chris Vallard doing? Why are they
giving up on Anthony Richardson? Why is shang shot styping?

Speaker 14 (48:34):
Done with Richardson's That Dan Jones switch has worked out
great for the Colts, and not only from a short
term standpoint.

Speaker 10 (48:43):
They keep playing well, which I mean, I believe they're
gonna win a division.

Speaker 2 (48:47):
And we'll see after these next few games and stuff.
But you're looking at potential, Daniel Jones say, in your
long term.

Speaker 10 (48:54):
Uh, I just thought change on Valor Jay.

Speaker 9 (48:59):
Hey, Mike, does it make me sound bad that back
in January I wanted to fire everybody, James, I wanted
to hire everybody, get rid of everybody to start new.

Speaker 3 (49:07):
Does that look bad now?

Speaker 2 (49:10):
I mean, listen, honestly, it was a frustration, and not
only you're getting tired of talking about how bad the
Coats are on the air for the fan base's frustration everything.
But hey, I asked people say they would go go
off the westfield and get Chris Valad out of town. Now,
I mean the three and zeros.

Speaker 10 (49:27):
We'll see how it goes when they're going on the
road to face the lamps.

Speaker 2 (49:30):
It so down the stretch against the Eagles last weekend,
Sea will get tougher. But you've got to light the
sense of the change of decordinator. What Daniel's doing. Ty
Warren is just killing it at tight end. Donovan Jones
are being Donathan Jones. This is what coach expected once
they selected Anson Richardson after a year or so a
couple of years ago. It's just taking a couple of

(49:52):
years and a different quarterback for the sign of the
promise to finally start up here.

Speaker 6 (49:58):
And let's not forget Jones first round draft pick. He's
only twenty eight years old, so there's plenty of tread
still on that tire. But it is interesting because a
lot of folks had given up, maybe on Ballard and Stiking,
a lot of folks had already given up on Daniel Jones.
It makes me wonder and I'll ask both of you this,
who needed who more? Did did the Colts need Daniel
Jones or did Daniel Jones need the Colts because both

(50:19):
of them are much better off than they wear a
year ago today.

Speaker 3 (50:22):
I'll go first.

Speaker 10 (50:23):
I'll say I say a coach need Daniel Jones more
than Daniel needed the.

Speaker 14 (50:27):
Coat because it just been outside of the Philip rivers here.
It has been such a boring and enthusiastic.

Speaker 10 (50:40):
From the Colts. Andew Luck retired at twenty nineteen. Now
they have it.

Speaker 2 (50:45):
I mean, shoot, when they won the Week one game
for the first time since I was covering them at
twenty thirteen, I was like, holy cattu. Then they go,
you know, thankful for the penalty on the flag on
the lake at the end of the Demmer games on
them and then.

Speaker 10 (50:58):
Listen to the Titans.

Speaker 2 (50:59):
Are the Titans they're not football team with two three
and oh, they're like hoping optimism for the first time,
and who.

Speaker 6 (51:06):
Knows how long If they win Sunday, Mike, they're gonna
win ten games at least. I mean, if they're four
to o and they got the Raiders coming up next week,
I mean, who knows how many wins they could get.

Speaker 3 (51:19):
And you're right, they won.

Speaker 6 (51:20):
They want a home They won a season opener for
the first time since twenty thirteen. They haven't won the
division since twenty fourteen, they haven't made the playoffs since
twenty twenty. I mean, they can just start xing off
all these demons week by week, and the more you know,
each week goes by, you start putting some distance between
those other teams and this could turn out to be

(51:41):
you don't want to get too far ahead of yourselves.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
But it's lining up really nice so far.

Speaker 2 (51:45):
It is amazing about it.

Speaker 10 (51:46):
Obviously, it's going to take some time for War down
to Tennessee to get going. DJ Stroud is just going out.
I don't know what the hell is going on.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
A Ugonna periods about the Jaguars. I'm not going to
shoot the the War on the Jaguars but it's like, man,
the cold people are talking about the Colton a positive
for the first time and who knows how long, and
that's a great less And John, I know you gotta
love it from three to six right now that you're
not sitting here having to just basically pull your pants

(52:15):
down to take a squat on the direction of the franchise.

Speaker 9 (52:19):
Yeah, I've been tired of squatting on the franchise, There's
no doubt about that. I kind of look at it
as I tell people, Mike to embrace the moment and
then we'll sort it all out to see where they go.
Because through the first three weeks, well they played a
week schedule.

Speaker 6 (52:36):
Nobody's been any good and this is gonna be the
best gage so far coming up on Sunday in La.
But I've told people it has been so long since
you've been able to really truly enjoy it, enjoy it,
and then if it goes haywire or if it goes south,
we'll talk about it when that happens. But no, it

(52:57):
is and start contrast so much of a refreshing difference
than it has been.

Speaker 3 (53:04):
It's it's good to see. I mean, it really is.

Speaker 9 (53:07):
I don't openly root Mike for the for these teams
around here, but I openly root for the people that
support them to go out and Watts that used their
disposable income to be a part of it. And I'm
happy for them because they're able to, at least so
far in the month of September and twenty twenty five
to celebrate this.

Speaker 10 (53:26):
Yeah and listen, Hey, I'm a backtrack real quick.

Speaker 2 (53:29):
Yes, the teams they've played.

Speaker 10 (53:30):
Have not been very good.

Speaker 2 (53:32):
But with that stead the way I look at it
as the way I'm flipping it around is is how
they is how they won those games. I mean they
they stomped. They got here and stomped on the Titans
last weekend in obviously we talked. We talked about the
Broncos on how they beat the Broncos. They humiliated the

(53:53):
Dolphins a week one have had they lost or even
won close.

Speaker 15 (53:57):
Games against two or the three teams which are bad,
people wouldn't haad onto to them. Is the fact that
they basically put their foot on their throat and said, hey,
we're not just going to be a whole hum bady
win against.

Speaker 10 (54:09):
Backing football team.

Speaker 4 (54:11):
It's war.

Speaker 2 (54:12):
So I look at it as yes, bad team, but
they dominated both of those bad teams. So that's why
I kind of flipped the script on them a little bit.

Speaker 6 (54:20):
And bad teams, true, Mike, but each and every week
we see a bad team beat somebody, So you can't say, oh, well,
I mean in the NFL, you always hear coaches say, hey,
any win in the NFL is tough, But then you
see that week in and week out because there are
teams like I mean, look at the Browns last week.

Speaker 3 (54:38):
Who thought the Browns were.

Speaker 6 (54:39):
Gonna beat the Packers and the Packers kind of peed
down their leg on that one. But that that to
me is you never apologize for a win, no matter
who you played, No, and that situation.

Speaker 2 (54:53):
So it's finally, listen, Wundos was gonna happen in the
stever season.

Speaker 10 (54:58):
I mean obviously got you got the aces out there Asans,
got the league MVP.

Speaker 2 (55:03):
No Caitlin Clark and everything, but credit credit and what
this franchise is done without Kaitlin Clark for so long?
And then you know Mendoza has just stepped in and
like a great pick up by Signatty.

Speaker 10 (55:13):
At the quarterback to Fox.

Speaker 2 (55:14):
So it's great to see and those boys up Ice
sixty five in West south Yeah, like you said, John said,
they should they may meet the number one team in
the country.

Speaker 3 (55:22):
So it is.

Speaker 2 (55:23):
It is a great time to be in the state
of Indiana and to be a quote unquote Hoosier.

Speaker 9 (55:29):
So Mike Wells ESPN Radio is making his triumphant return
on the show on a Friday. He's with us on
Andy Moore Automotive fru Poleline Barringer's Tavern, legendary play since
eighteen seventy nine is our bud Light Blue Flyday location.

Speaker 3 (55:44):
So I've gone out.

Speaker 1 (55:46):
What's that?

Speaker 4 (55:47):
Oh? Sorry?

Speaker 10 (55:47):
By that Terry was getting the carveronce soccer riders. I'm
meant to hit me so bad? Are you?

Speaker 3 (55:53):
Are you going to Westfield tonight?

Speaker 6 (55:55):
Nah?

Speaker 10 (55:56):
Man, listen, that's too far of a drive to brown
me to go up there and watch round.

Speaker 2 (56:01):
Berg stomp another team.

Speaker 1 (56:04):
So I'm going to watch on long night.

Speaker 2 (56:07):
I mean, I listen. We'reloaded with power five guys on
offense and the defense is underrated. It is a great
story in Brownsburg out there, but I'm not I'm not
gonna be dealing with that traffic at the head of
the website. I just watching the line of support my
bulldogs and hopefully we'll get a Brownsburg Center road game
in the postseason.

Speaker 1 (56:26):
At some point.

Speaker 3 (56:28):
How about this.

Speaker 9 (56:29):
I think Sinner Groves like working on its uh fifth
string running back because of injuries right now.

Speaker 3 (56:34):
But still, I mean, Eric Eric Moore is an absolute genius,
There's no doubt about that.

Speaker 9 (56:39):
Now, this Oscar kid at quarterback, he's pretty good from
what I hear.

Speaker 10 (56:46):
Yeah, no, hey, no, Oscur Fry. Oscur Fry is a
very good quarterback. I mean he's only a junior. So interesting.
I just love I love high school sports. I know
Chris is now working on a Friday night.

Speaker 2 (56:58):
He hasn't worked on a Friday night five years.

Speaker 10 (57:01):
He has been covered high school sport out there. I
do I do see other networks showing up in Brownsburg
with Derek harra Is getting a lot of footage. But
I'm not gonna go down that path again because I
know Hagen. Once he gets rolling I'm talking about TV
on the networks, he gets rollers, So I'm gonna leave
it alone.

Speaker 3 (57:20):
Well, I can tell you this, Mike Wells.

Speaker 6 (57:23):
We have a young man who interned at our station
who is now a big wig out there at Brownsburg
and he supplies us with the needed video each and
every week. So that's why we we work smart, not hard,
but we do by all means we take care of
the bulldogs.

Speaker 3 (57:40):
Till Mike, where you go on Friday night after the show?

Speaker 6 (57:44):
I usually go I'm not going to name the the
uh the actual place, but I usually go somewhere in
either Anderson or Shelbyville, So.

Speaker 3 (57:52):
You know where he's going, right Mike, name mister Higgen.
Good to see you again. We have your usual table.

Speaker 2 (58:05):
By the way, I love the casino Anderson.

Speaker 10 (58:10):
I think I'm for John and I. We're up there
as like we are part of BBD. Some years ago
we were trying to get on Save and UH and.

Speaker 14 (58:19):
Replaced Bobby was out of shape and couldn't sing pongs anymore.

Speaker 10 (58:23):
So Uh, I have all love in the world for
the casino up there and Anderson.

Speaker 6 (58:29):
Hey, Mike closing here Pacer Media Day, a team he
used to cover is coming up on Monday.

Speaker 9 (58:36):
I love what Chad Buchannan said. I mean they they
feel that this team should compete. I have stated this.
I'm a believer in this group in high level competition. Still,
even with the losses.

Speaker 1 (58:50):
What do you think I love it because I.

Speaker 10 (58:53):
Think Rick Rick Carlisle right now and my firm beliefs.

Speaker 2 (58:57):
Is best coaching NBA UH and coaching.

Speaker 10 (59:00):
YT will have the boys ready. And you're look at
the makeup at the Eastern Conference. There's just so many
guys knowing injuries out there. I mean, there's something's going
to have ato man out there. So anything I'm not saying.

Speaker 2 (59:13):
I'm not gonna say the patient of getting back to
the finals or even in the Eastern Conference finals, but
they'll compete and they'll be in the mix.

Speaker 9 (59:21):
Mike Wells, the ESPN Radio is back. I love Talayla
and uh we'll do it again next Friday. Man, I'm
glad we've got you back on here.

Speaker 3 (59:33):

seventy Hello.

Speaker 1 (01:02:30):
Eric, Hey, JMD, how are you?

Speaker 4 (01:02:33):
I appreciate that you know real quick.

Speaker 16 (01:02:35):
I've been in recruiting about thirteen years. I worked for
a wonderful company called Mercury Insurance as a principal recruiter.
And I can help Matt out seriously.

Speaker 3 (01:02:45):
There we go.

Speaker 6 (01:02:45):
Well, let's you get in my text stream or send
me an email or something with your number, Eric, and
I can pass Matt's sitting right in front of you

Because I want to try to get him a gig
before the end of the weekend. Right here, I'm serious, you.

Speaker 16 (01:03:00):

He is a he is a great and and here's
what I know, Matt. He's dedicated.

Speaker 9 (01:03:13):
He is a dedicated dude, incredibly loyal and to me,
everything I would know and everything I would know from him,
it would be that he would be an incredible employee
for you.

Speaker 4 (01:03:24):
Well, yes, that's what the world we live in now
it is.

Speaker 9 (01:03:29):
Eric, Make sure Eric, I can get a number to
contact you and I'll pass it along to Matt right here.

Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
Thank you, brother. I appreciate good stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
Right there.

Speaker 3 (01:03:38):
That's that's what that's that's that's what we do. Right there.

Speaker 9 (01:03:41):
We see Matt all the time. He's a friend of
the show. And I mean, he lost his job this week,
and we want to find him a job. Here's what
I say to people.

Speaker 6 (01:03:49):
I've known a lot of people that lose their job,
and I say, the day you lose the job, that's
the hardest part. Yeah, get grieve, sad, cry scream. Next day,
we're moving forward. So that's what I tell you. The
hardest part's over. It's only gonna get better from here.

Speaker 9 (01:04:04):
I lost a job working for Indiana University once because
they found me sleeping beneath a bunch of laundered covers.
I mean, if they're doing the summertime. Yeah, yeah, I
remember down in Bloomington, it was doing the summertime.

Speaker 6 (01:04:18):
I had a summer job where we I'm working on
this construction working for the electrician out and me and
my buddy we would crawl up into these big eighteen
wheelers and get on top of the boxes and just
go to sleep because yeah, like there was nothing really
for us to do. We were just But if they
ever needed you, on the rare occasion they needed you,
you better be around because that's when they would notice
you weren't doing anything.

Speaker 3 (01:04:39):
Before I go was good at it.

Speaker 9 (01:04:40):
I was good at doing nothing before I got into
radio up here because a friend of my life to
play basketball and he hired me to be a part
of his mortgage firm and I couldn't add, which was problematic.

Speaker 6 (01:04:50):
But yeah, I also got gash from that. But then
that kind of led me to the next stop, and
that was back in radio up here.

Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
And that's what I mean. Thank God for TV and
radio because you and me would be in a lot
of trouble. Yeah, I'd be so screwed. I can't do anything.
I can't even do this, to.

Speaker 6 (01:05:06):
Be quite honest with you, but I don't imagine. Not
only can I not do anything, I don't want to
do anything. But I love coming here. This is one
of my favorite spots, you know.

Speaker 9 (01:05:14):
And when I answered that ad, they said, we need
somebody to come out and drink ice cold bud lot
on a Friday at Bannager's Tavern and then talk sports
with the owner, Rob. And the place has been here
since eighteen seventy nine, Rob, and I answered to call,
and here I am years later. That's right about that.
Your place is hopping it. I love this place party
so much right.

Speaker 17 (01:05:34):
Here, Everybody drinking bud light, hanging out with the guys
from Budweiser, and yeah, it's a good time.

Speaker 9 (01:05:39):
So what's been going on in the world of Baringer's
Tavern here since we've last left you a couple of
months ago.

Speaker 12 (01:05:45):
I don't know.

Speaker 17 (01:05:46):
We had a good summer and we're just riding into
the fall football season.

Speaker 3 (01:05:51):
We play all the games you know, during the during
the weekend college dam prov Yeah, I got something, man,
you're not down with the Colts. This week I picked
against him.

Speaker 6 (01:06:01):
He picks against him every week, basically, I do not.
I think every week every week one he picks.

Speaker 3 (01:06:06):
Oh look, this game is all about j T.

Speaker 4 (01:06:09):
I think so.

Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
Culture to averaging one hundred and fifty.

Speaker 9 (01:06:13):
One hundred and fifty a game, I think it's all
about they're not turning it over and turning the rams over.

Speaker 17 (01:06:18):
That's just manute, there's seventeen and seven and one. When
JT goes over one hundred.

Speaker 3 (01:06:23):
Game, you're going to get me in the stats right here.
Ram to give up like one hundred and five a game,
So you're good.

Speaker 6 (01:06:28):
The point that the point that John made, I mean,
you've punted one time, right, you've you've not turned the
ball over. And the hidden the hidden stat it's great.
Everybody likes to see the offense out there, not going
three and out and holding the ball. You know how
that also benefits the defense. Yeah, they get the rest,
they're fresh, they're coming out And I talked to the
guys last week about that and They talked about again

(01:06:50):
this week that that's a you're over there making adjustments,
you go out there fresh and you can go all
out on a possession where you know what, we've been
over there for ten minutes, We've been over there for
fifteen minutes. It's not like they're moving the chains or okay,
now here comes the Colts three and out, let's get
back out there. It's it's beneficial for both sides of
the ball. But one thing that concerns me, and I
got into it on Twitter with a guy last week

(01:07:11):
because this is about Trader. Can s Trader kick a
meaningful field goal over fifty yards? We saw the game
last night. A guy trots out there and kicks a
fifty two yarder to win it. If how confident is
stykeing going to be if you can try a fifty
seven yarder or give away the ball at midfield. Basicallyvanilla
is confident because he tried him out there from sixty

(01:07:31):
and that was horrible. It was awful, and then he
missed one last week from He said he missed hit it,
but you got it in today's even Al Michaels joked
last night that when Herbert treat's a older in field
goal range, he said. Nowadays, you cross the fifty, you're
in field goal range.

Speaker 1 (01:07:46):
It's crazy.

Speaker 6 (01:07:46):
The Colts needs to be the Colts need to have
that that weapon because in some of it, like there's
been some blowouts, there are going to be some games
where can you try the guy out there and make
a fifty eight yarder? And right now, not saying he
can't do it, he's done it. He hasn't showed us,
shown us on the pro level. He can go out
there and do this, all right, you convinced me games.
I was saying a game like this, a three and

(01:08:08):
a half point spread and that could come into play
this week in the football against Denver, and then they
just kind of bond.

Speaker 7 (01:08:15):
That helves down.

Speaker 3 (01:08:16):
So I don't think it's so much about Trader.

Speaker 6 (01:08:19):
I mean, you could put him in position to kick
like they did ultimately with a leverage call. But it's
just the coaching thing probably worries me more than anything else,
because there are sometimes you wonder with Shane Stikeen if
he's more meant to be an offensive grew a coordinator
than he is an overall team manager as a head.

Speaker 3 (01:08:39):
Coach, And I think that that is still in question, right,
I fairly so.

Speaker 6 (01:08:43):
I love Sticken's play calling, I love his schemes, but
there's a difference in being that guy and also the
game management guy, the clock management guy, the down and
distance guy. And he admitted he handled that, didn't handle
that the way he won't do it now. So what
are we talking about? This is his only his third season,
He's three games into his third season. There's still going
to be moments you'll learn from that. And to tell

(01:09:04):
you about everybody remembers the two thousand and five Colts
were better than the two thousand and six Colts that
won the Super Bowl. Two thousand and five, they lose
that game to the Steelers. Vander Jett famously misses the
forty seven yarder. But I put a little bit on
Peyton because they got down there and Peyton felt like
they're in field goal range. To Tiet, he's thrown it deep.

(01:09:25):
He's thrown it deep. There were plays underneath, to Eddern
or to Dallas Clark, you could have gotten that closer
to a field goal, because there's a huge difference. Forty
seven yarder to keep the season alive, forty seven yard
a week four, So I just want to see Schrader
take a long field goal in a meaningful moment, and
maybe that presents itself.

Speaker 7 (01:09:46):
This week, I'll go with a simple thing.

Speaker 1 (01:09:49):
Wins are hard.

Speaker 7 (01:09:50):
None of us thought they'd have three of.

Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
Them, Oh yeah, although I had picked them all three weeks.

Speaker 6 (01:09:55):
So if you're on board with Hagen, you're three and zero,
that's almost like you're a butt sniffer, you know what.

Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
I've been on this show many a.

Speaker 6 (01:10:02):
Time, and it hits against the posts without sniffing butts.

Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
I just look at it this way.

Speaker 6 (01:10:08):
You're right Rob about the fact that three and zero,
and that's that's a feel good.

Speaker 9 (01:10:13):
I just think the Rams, this is clearly, I think
going to be the toughest tests they face so far,
and zero doubt about that. And the Rams coming off
the bad beat of the year last.

Speaker 6 (01:10:23):
Week in Philadelphia against the Super Bowl champions, the defending
I think he's going to be really difficult. And you
know they are missing They've missed players before, but we're
talking about some players of significant roles, both defensively and offensively.
And we'll see how this thing goes. Chris coming up
on Sunday, that's a tough dynamic to deal with, especially

(01:10:45):
this early in the season. You're used to things happening,
guys getting banged and bruised up, but this early in
the season to have key pieces out. You talk about
a guy like Kenny Moore and you get a guy
you know off the street that will be as ready
as he can be. But there's injuries on both sides
of the ball. That's what happens. They say, next man
up for a reason. But this will be on the road,

(01:11:07):
the toughest test. It'll be a salty bunch of rams.
And that's why it's a three and a half point spread.
It's every week you're going to see games that are
going to come down to one or two key plays.
And I think if the Colts win the turnover battle,
I think they.

Speaker 3 (01:11:20):
Win the game. Rob is here again.

Speaker 6 (01:11:24):
We're at the legendary South side of downtown Indianapolis establishment
at Behringers is a location today. Make sure everybody knows
your operational hours and why they should be here because
this is awesome today.

Speaker 17 (01:11:38):
Well, they should be here because it's fun, Yes, no
doubt about that. We're open eleven to midnight Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
and then the Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Speaker 3 (01:11:50):
Look at the wall. Just look at the wall, right, there's.

Speaker 6 (01:11:56):
Seven days a week other than seven days a week
other than Colts fans obviously. Do you see pockets of
fan basis some other teams that will come in here?
What's what's the most popular team aside from the Colts?
Or is there just random?

Speaker 3 (01:12:08):
It's very random? No packers or mayors folks coming here? No,
not really, not really.

Speaker 6 (01:12:14):
What about how do you guys do on a Saturday
with college football? Big IU and Purdue? Yeah, you know
Purdue was better. We'd be packed and producing games. But
uh well, definitely put some points up, don't they?

Speaker 3 (01:12:27):
You got it?

Speaker 6 (01:12:27):
You got a day game on the road. You should
have a good crowd for this would be a great place.
Come out and get you some pizza, come out and
watch you some IU. And you're right, more eyes than
ever on that on that program.

Speaker 17 (01:12:36):
And as we get to the fall, a lot of
times there's a group that will run a bush. You
know they're going to the game, come here before they
take that's awesome take off to the game.

Speaker 3 (01:12:47):
So great food too. We should mention there, thank you,
thank you.

Speaker 9 (01:12:52):
Now some of the infamous folks that have been in
this establishment in the past. We've gone over this before,
but let's recollect. Besides besides John and jamb and who
else John Dillinger. That's nice Cylinger for sure. Al Capone
used to make some stops. Wow, you know how incredible
that is. Capone and Dillinger in this place right here,

(01:13:16):
maybe on the school maybe drinking nice hole bud life.
You think they were good tippers.

Speaker 17 (01:13:24):
You know we were talking about this the other day.
You know when this place open there wasn't even electricity.

Speaker 3 (01:13:31):
Candlelight tipping was always really good back then.

Speaker 4 (01:13:36):
From AI.

Speaker 9 (01:13:39):
Out stand right there, man, Rob, thanks for having us
coming up here.

Speaker 3 (01:13:47):
Weeks.

Speaker 6 (01:13:48):
I know this is water Hagen's favorite stops as well.
Thank you very much. Yours the legendary on the south side.
We would love to see you right here.

Speaker 9 (01:13:57):
We have Raiders Colts tickets to give away, and this
is not too far from For example, Chris Gamebridge Field
House in Game three of the w NBA Semi Finals tonight.

Speaker 6 (01:14:08):
Huge, huge game. I think if the if the Fever
gonna win this series, they have to win tonight. I
don't think they could drop this in any interest rate,
So I'd agree, must we always love to say must win, John,
I believe this is must win. In fact, I believe
the Fever need to win both of these games to advanced.
They need to win tonight and Sunday. I wouldn't like
the odds going back to a game five in Vegas.

(01:14:30):
Joel a Erickson of The Star at the top of
the hour first and Joel on Fox fifty nine with
Chris Sagnan and I coming up here, so uh yeah,
don't leave.

Speaker 9 (01:14:41):
And we're trying to find a good friend. Matt a gig.
He just lost his gig this week too. Bud Light
Blue Friday Beringers Tavern. We're on the south side actually
Meridian and pleasant Run Parkway. It is so easy to find.
We would love to see you here. Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 6 (01:16:15):
And two three nine, ten seventy is going to go.
Chris Sagan rejoins us right now. Chris, I should mention
that somebody has asked this. I normally went, You're on
the show. This is the only time when this is
ever brought up.

Speaker 9 (01:16:27):
Could you please kindly ask Ky again to bestow some
Mississippi State football knowledge upon us right here, It's from Nick.

Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
Okay, there you go. Try to mute me Hu. I'm
When I talk Missippi State, I say.

Speaker 6 (01:16:39):
It is the Bulldogs four and oh straight up four
and o john against the spread. There's seven and a
half point dogs against the Tennessee volunteers. And I'm tempted
to tell you, like I told you against Arizona State,
to go money line, but I really think I would
take State plus the seven and a half.

Speaker 3 (01:16:54):
I don't know if they'll win.

Speaker 6 (01:16:55):
I'll be happy if they do, but I think that's
going to be a raucous crowd in Stark, Vegas. I
think the Dogs will keep it close, if not beat
the volunteers, because let's face, the Tennessee looks at this
game as like, ah, who cares Missippi State. They're going
to roll down there, try to mail it in, and
they'll be sadly mistaken when they do.

Speaker 9 (01:17:12):
Mississippi State Bulldog's update right there. Think about you on
the road lie tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (01:17:18):
I tell you what, man, that's scary. You know I
use a eight point road face. Seriously scared or are
you frightened? Whenever I say that, I'm not saying I'm frightened.
I'm speaking on behalf of the IU fans like I
speak on behalf. I don't see when people talk about
the Colts. Some of our news anchors say, we got
a big game this weekend. I'm like, no, you don't.

Speaker 3 (01:17:39):
You're going to be in the studio. Okay they have
These people are so dorky talking about sports. Oh it's
so bad.

Speaker 6 (01:17:45):
It's some of the And by the way, I love
all my coworkers and in general too, these newspeople.

Speaker 3 (01:17:50):
John, let me tell you about these news.

Speaker 6 (01:17:52):
Who are the news anchors, who's the Who's the girl
on the CBS four with Bob Chelsea Helms?

Speaker 3 (01:18:00):
Who is Chelsea?

Speaker 6 (01:18:01):
You know she took some heat John for mocking me
the other day. I did my fever hits on Say
had me do the Fever on CBS and Fox and
Whidley did the Colts hit. So you know me, I
love a good pun. So did you hear my my
weird Al Yankovic songs?

Speaker 3 (01:18:17):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:18:18):
I did? Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:18:19):
I had one for for Fever and the Dream and
it was Ooho dream Fever, which meant to the same response,
that's her. So then on the heels of my woo
dream Fever, so for the Fever and Las Vegas Aces,
I sang Fever Las Vegas kind of like Viva Las

(01:18:43):
Vegas sense And on the air she openly mocked my joke,
and so some people took to my defense on social media,
and I let her know. I'm like, hey, the people
are with me on this and not you, so loosen
up and have some fun. Is that her right there?

Speaker 12 (01:18:59):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
I'll tell you what, Chelsea. Chelsea's kind of a smart ass.

Speaker 6 (01:19:02):
You would like her. But you know what I'm like,
It's like when Wells makes fun of me on the airs.
Some people think Wells doesn't like me, But if he
didn't like me, he wouldn't make fun of me. So
I think that's where Chelsea was coming from. She can
give it and take it as well. So I think
that was it. But a lot of people had my
back because it looked like she didn't enjoy the Chris
Hagen style of humor so previously served in Grand Junction, Colorado?

(01:19:26):
Is that true for Chelsea Hilms? It said, sird. Was
she in the service?

Speaker 3 (01:19:29):
It worked?

Speaker 4 (01:19:31):
No?

Speaker 9 (01:19:31):
She?

Speaker 6 (01:19:32):
I think she's from upstate New York originally, How the
hell has she been here?

Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
She applied for the job, and Chelsea Helms what she
call it? Would she work on this show.

Speaker 4 (01:19:41):
At all or not?

Speaker 3 (01:19:43):
Just a qu time, is it?

Speaker 6 (01:19:44):
We had a call her right now and get her
on the show. Let's try to call her and see
what she says. Do that, Joey Erickson at the top
of the hour, Chelsea Helms, I'm gonna text her and
get her to call in right now.

Speaker 9 (01:19:55):
I'm assuming she's probably about forty years younger than Bob Donaldson, right,
what is.

Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
What is wrong with you? Well, I mean I think
Bob Dallas has been around here for a long time.

Speaker 6 (01:20:09):
I'm gonna make her call real quick for thirty seconds,
so I'll got your second and she has to go
on the are in a second, but let's say it.

Speaker 3 (01:20:14):
Jav thanks uh.

Speaker 9 (01:20:16):
Passing along to Hagen from Mississippi State Knowledge Expert Analysis.
Much appreciated. Thank you very much. Our guy Derek writes this,
tell Hagen to meet me at Anderson. I need to
spend my fifty dollars in dining and Betty Park raising
a casino and Andrews And that's a.

Speaker 3 (01:20:32):
Hell of a plan right there.

Speaker 6 (01:20:34):
You know what, if you see me there, if you say, hey,
that guy looks like Chris Hagen, it probably is Chris Hagen.

Speaker 3 (01:20:39):
If you see me and Anderson or Shelbyville. I love
him both. We are a bearon Ers.

Speaker 9 (01:20:43):
The legendary Barones on South Meridian. We would love to
see you, Colts and Rams.

Speaker 6 (01:20:48):
Conversation on the inbound first and Joel with Joel here, Kristen, Joel,

Speaker 3 (01:20:58):
We would love to see you down here.

Speaker 9 (01:21:00):
I know there's a lot going on, but prioritize this
moment in your life with us at Berengers.

Speaker 3 (01:21:06):
Don't go anywhere, Joel with us and maybe what's her
name again?

Speaker 6 (01:21:10):
Chelsea Helms, Chelsea Helms of CBS four ninety three five,
one oh seven.

Speaker 7 (01:21:15):
Five, The Ride with JMV.

Speaker 3 (01:21:21):
Anybody needed a victory? Did I think we have to
start again?

Speaker 7 (01:21:30):
Ninety three five and one oh seven five The Fan.

Speaker 9 (01:21:34):
Oh Man a sky Point l Ipeter, our good friend
Robin Miller, who would most certainly love to be at
this place. Manager's ten for the legendary spot since eighteen
seventy nine, capone Dellinger Hagen, JMV. Thank you so much
for joining us. Bud Light Blue Friday. We've got Raiders,

(01:21:54):
Coach tickets to give away. We so enjoy the fact
that you're here with us, and thank you for trying
to help out our good friend Matt find a new gig.
Matt lost his gig this week, and so many of
you are reaching out via the text line at three
one seven two three nine ten seven need to help
Matt get a new gig.

Speaker 3 (01:22:14):
Hagen, We're all about that for our good friend Matt.

Speaker 6 (01:22:16):
You know what, We give each other a lot of
crap around here, but the JMV Show is family.

Speaker 18 (01:22:22):
It is.

Speaker 6 (01:22:23):
They've been supportive of you through the years, and so
I like to see when you try to help them out.

Speaker 9 (01:22:28):
Meantime of the Andy Moore Automotive Group Potline, He's gonna
give us a helper because the cultu are going to
need some from from various spots with backups coming up
on Sunday in Southern California against the Rams. Joel a
Eericsson first and Joel on Fox fifty nine and five
o'clock hour on the Andy Moore.

Speaker 3 (01:22:46):
Automotive Group Potline. Joel, thank you for the time. How
are you?

Speaker 1 (01:22:50):
How you gotta doing well?

Speaker 3 (01:22:52):
It's get another place where you should be.

Speaker 9 (01:22:55):
But one of these days you're going to be here
live and uh, we'll trip that light fantastic stick for you,
But until then you're kind of forced to hear what
we're doing. I this is going to be the most
challenging game, at least team wise, that Cols have played,
but even more so challenging considering the circumstances of those

(01:23:15):
that have already been ruled out.

Speaker 1 (01:23:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 19 (01:23:20):
Yeah, I think especially that the team they're going again
makes some of these absence is a bigger deal. You know,
Matt Gonzalvez being out at right guard, that one was
kind of a little bit of a surprise, just because
he finished the game the other day.

Speaker 20 (01:23:32):
We did see him get get hurt. But this is
a Rams team.

Speaker 1 (01:23:37):
That's pretty good and pretty deep on the interior line.

Speaker 19 (01:23:40):
So Dalton Tucker is gonna have to to, you know,
play well against Brayden Fisk and Kobe Turner and some
of these guys that they poon afford some of these
guys as the Rams have in the uh in the
interior defensive line.

Speaker 1 (01:23:53):
And then the other one, Norre.

Speaker 19 (01:23:54):
Is unavailable and Pukinnakua plays a lot out of the slot,
and I think you much rather have you know, Kenny Moore,
you know, healthy and available, but obviously.

Speaker 1 (01:24:03):
He's got to get the achilles, right.

Speaker 20 (01:24:05):
I think we're gonna see Mike Hilton there, you know,
and he hasn't played this year, so I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:24:11):
Really know what to expect.

Speaker 3 (01:24:14):
Yeah, Joel A.

Speaker 6 (01:24:15):
Erickson, this is your good friend and colleague Chris Hagen
from the wildly popular First and Joel's segment of the
Blue Zone each and every Sunday morning.

Speaker 3 (01:24:24):
Yeah. Yeah, every time.

Speaker 6 (01:24:26):
Like people talk about games, they generally talk about team
versus team, but it does come down to matchups and
those will be some key things to keep an eye
on Sunday. And you talked about the Colts offensive line
and you see a Rams team tied for the lead
in sacks.

Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
They're gonna be.

Speaker 6 (01:24:41):
Getting after Daniel Miller or Daniel Jones, I should say.
And he's done a good job of avoiding the sacks
through the first three weeks, So that to me, how
much protection can he get and what will be his reaction.
He's done a good job escape escaping some pressure, and
he's also done a good job of taking care of
the football. Sometime pressure can lead to those mistakes. To me,

(01:25:02):
that that'll be a key indicator comes Sunday.

Speaker 20 (01:25:05):
Yeah, he's really done a good job.

Speaker 19 (01:25:07):
I think you know, he had the big scramble last week,
but I think part of it is that he's done
a really good job of knowing where to go with
the ball if he's got somebody coming at him and
getting it out of.

Speaker 1 (01:25:18):
His hands quickly.

Speaker 19 (01:25:19):
I'm curious to see how this Rams pass rush looks
against the quarterback who gets the ball out of his
hands fairly quickly, because Daniel Jones is i think eight
in the NFL in terms of time to throw, time
from the snaps when he lets it go. The guys
they've played so far, cam Ward and Jalen Hurts, CJ.

Speaker 1 (01:25:38):
Stroud, those are all the guys that have a reputation.

Speaker 19 (01:25:40):
For kind of holding onto the ball a little bit more.
And if you hold on to the ball a little
bit more, you have a tendency.

Speaker 1 (01:25:45):
To give up some sacks. So I think this is
a very good.

Speaker 19 (01:25:48):
Very young, up and coming Rams defensive line. But they
haven't really played a quarterback yet who's who does a
good job of getting the ball out of his hands quickly.

Speaker 6 (01:25:59):
At any level of football, when you talk about a
team through three games that hasn't turned it over, hasn't
been going three and out, is only punted once. I mean,
regardless of who you're playing. That that is a recipe
for success. And it's been pretty amazing. And Jonathan Taylor
and some others talked about it this week about how
they it's not by accident that there've been had had

(01:26:21):
such great ball security.

Speaker 19 (01:26:23):
Yeah, absolutely, that they focus on it if something they
care a lot about. I was, you know, one of
the things I've been thinking about this week in terms
of the level of competition. I think Miami and Tennessee.
We're going to look at those teams and say they
were pretty bad. But if you look at that Denver
pass rush, you know, we talked it up so much
coming into the game and then it didn't really affect
Jones much more than you know, one second six quarterback hits.

(01:26:46):
But if you look at what they did last week
against the Chargers, they sacked Justin Herbert five times and
hit him fourteen times. So that pass rush is just
as good as we thought it was. Colts just had
a really good day against them.

Speaker 3 (01:27:00):
Yeah, they are.

Speaker 6 (01:27:02):
We mentioned the Rams are tied for the league leading sacks,
are tied with the Broncos, so that that speaks to
what you're saying. It wasn't just like a tomato can
there up there against John. You can join us back
now on the conversation. Since you chose to walk away
right in the middle of me introducing the first and
Joel segment from the award winning.

Speaker 3 (01:27:20):
Boots, I thought you had a handle.

Speaker 6 (01:27:22):
Hey, here's a little tidbit. This is some a little
funny thing. This is a behind the seeds inside joke
you can pay attention to on Sunday. Joel and I
taped first, and Joel, we tape that on Wednesday, and
then I got a haircut on Tuesday, I mean, excuse me, Thursday.
So if you watch the show, I'm gonna have really
short hair to start the show, I'll have the segment

(01:27:43):
with Joel, I'll have more hair, and then you'll come
back from that segment and I'll have a haircut again.
So if a keen viewer can see that that my
hair growth will fluctuate throughout the program.

Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
It's that's all of a plan He's got built for
you right there, Joel, you know what I'm saying. Joe,
go ahead, Joel.

Speaker 19 (01:28:01):
I was supposed I was supposed to get a haircut
on Tuesday, but the person I usually get my haircut
from had to cancel.

Speaker 1 (01:28:07):
I think because she was I think she's getting ready
to have her baby. So now I got to figure
out where I'm gonna get my haircut. You know, I
gotta figure out where I'm gonna get my haircut for
the next six.

Speaker 3 (01:28:18):
Weeks during COVID.

Speaker 6 (01:28:20):
I have some clippers, and I would cut Phil and
Dave Griffiths. I would cut their hair for them in
the in the sports office. But Joel, you do have
I've said this before, you have hair like Clark Kent
aka Superman. You have these superman flowing locks. So I'd
imagine you probably have to pay a little bit more
for a haircut than I do.

Speaker 19 (01:28:39):
Yeah, I've got to get I've got to get some
uh you know, uh some sitting done sometimes and stuff
like that.

Speaker 9 (01:28:46):
So yeah, Joe Herrick say, I was thinking about Hagen
and cutting people's.

Speaker 6 (01:28:52):
Hair in the sports job. That's a good job. Sounds
like a hell love playing. Everybody's got the sports office
right there, Joel, does it not?

Speaker 3 (01:29:00):
I look at it this way.

Speaker 9 (01:29:02):
What Mike Hilton's going to play a significant role He's
going to be thrust into it coming up on Sunday.
Kenny Moore is going to be down. We'll see how
long this is ultimately going to be. How do you
think he will end up playing in that spot? I mean, listen,
what else are you going to do? But at the
same time, I kind of wonder about him, and I

(01:29:23):
wonder if ad Mitchell. We talk so much about Adi
Mitchell being able to, you know, catch passes and do.

Speaker 3 (01:29:29):
Something with it. In one of these days, he's only
going to break out.

Speaker 9 (01:29:32):
You would think that maybe that opportunity prevails coming up
on Sunday for Mitchell as well.

Speaker 19 (01:29:38):
Yeah, I think I think with Hilton, I'm kind of
looking at him the way I look at Xavian Howard.
You know that that's a guy that I don't think
he has any trouble knowing where to go. I think
sometimes I think sometimes once he gets there, or once
once he's in coverage, he gets in trouble with some
of the speed of the younger guys. I'm curious to
see if Hilton's ready to run with people after not

(01:30:01):
playing so.

Speaker 1 (01:30:01):
Far this season.

Speaker 19 (01:30:02):
I mean, the Dolphins did release him at the end
of training camp, so I I those that matchup that
corner versus Rams wide receiver matchup outside of Ward and
probably covering DeVonta Adams, which I think that's probably the
fun matchup. To watch those other corners. I'm curious to
see how they do against this Rams team, and then

(01:30:23):
with Mitchell. With Mitchell, I think this is a big
game for him because if you look at what the
Rams have done so far.

Speaker 1 (01:30:29):
Last week, they they kind of shut down.

Speaker 19 (01:30:31):
Say Quorn Barkley, and so I'm kind of expecting Johnston
Taylor to have a maybe not maybe not necessarily a
rough game. It's hard to bet against him the way
he's been playing so far, but I think he's gonna
not gonna have much room to run. I think they
might have to throw the ball, get going throwing the ball,
and Alex Pearce has made some big catches the last
couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (01:30:50):
They're gonna need Mitchell to do the same thing.

Speaker 19 (01:30:51):
Because this the thing with this Rams defense is if
you if you'd say there's a pinpoint of weakness, their
corners are not guys you really heard of before.

Speaker 6 (01:31:02):
And that's the exciting thing about a game because obviously
you know McVeigh and company. They know where the Colts
have issues injury issues, they're going to look to exploit that.
The same thing goes for the Colts. And then you
get to that end game adjustment when you say, Okay,
this is what they're trying to do, this is what
we're going to do. And that's something John and I
were talking about earlier about Shane Stike and I really
love his game plans and schemes, but sometimes in the

(01:31:25):
game management and the adjustments you call some things into question.
But I think this will be two great young minds
in the game and I'm excited to see a how
they come out of the gate and then b what
kind of adjustments are made mid game?

Speaker 1 (01:31:39):
Yeah, I think I think the way shame the way
Shane Psychen has game planned and play called. And I
was told once by an NFL head coach that a
lot of what we call flake Paul is actually game planning.
And if being really honest about what they're doing, it's
been it's really hard to.

Speaker 19 (01:31:56):
Argue with somebody who's who's only punted, only had the
call for the punter won.

Speaker 3 (01:32:01):
You know, he's done such a good job.

Speaker 19 (01:32:03):
He's done such a good job with the game plan,
and you know, I think we all know at some
point there's gonna be a game where it's not quite
where Rigoberto Santez is gonna have to do a little more.

Speaker 1 (01:32:15):
It's just it's just that's the way the NFL worked.

Speaker 18 (01:32:18):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:32:19):
You think about the Packers last week. That was a
team everybody said this is the best team in football.
They got and lose the Browns. So at some point
it's gonna be harder. But yeah, I'm with you. I
think this is a.

Speaker 19 (01:32:29):
Really fun matchup, especially if you like offensive football between
two minds, and I think are pretty good at finding
weaknesses in their opponent and then exploiting them.

Speaker 6 (01:32:39):
I love how Shane joked about they finally had to punt,
and there they saw the flag and they were hoping
they weren't gonna punt, and then he said, but it
was a hell of a punt.

Speaker 3 (01:32:48):
It was.

Speaker 1 (01:32:48):
It was a great But I thought it was interesting that,
you know, the street gets broken. The street gets broken.

Speaker 19 (01:32:54):
You think, okay, well they've they've punted once, and then
they didn't let him punt again.

Speaker 1 (01:32:58):
They either or had a field goal opportunity on the
next five drive. They're like you got your one end.
We're we're fine with that. Let's let's get to get
rid of that nonsense and get you back to holding.

Speaker 9 (01:33:10):
To joy access the stars of anymore out of other
group Hotline. I was thinking about this, and I'm sure
you've probably thought about it as well.

Speaker 3 (01:33:19):
We're goding, Jared Verse.

Speaker 9 (01:33:20):
I don't want this to end up being a game
where Colts fans come at me on Monday saying, hey,
you know what, we should have drafted this guy instead
a lot too, you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (01:33:31):
Yeah, yeah, I hear what you're saying.

Speaker 19 (01:33:33):
Verse. Verse and then the other young guy Byron Young
are pretty good, and I really think depends on it
depends on what analytics site you like. I know there's
a lot of people who read Pro Football Focus. If
you read PFF, they've got lots too graded.

Speaker 20 (01:33:49):
Way higher than really any of the other ones so far.

Speaker 19 (01:33:52):
I think I think that you'd like to see more
from him in terms of the initial pressure, like right
away at the beginning of the snap, and do you
like to see more from him finishing. He doesn't have
a stacker quarterback hit right now. I I have concerns
about this.

Speaker 1 (01:34:06):
Pass rush going forward. This season. Based on what we've
saw seen so.

Speaker 19 (01:34:10):
Far, they've got seven sacks, but they're like twenty fifth
to twenty seventh in pressure rates depending on who you
look at, and that that feels like what I've seen,
which is it's been kind of hit or miss and
teams are just hammering to forrest butmer with double teams.
Every every time I pull up my binoculars to look
at the line, I feel like he's going up against

(01:34:32):
not just like a tight end in somebody, He's going
up against two three hundred pounders. At some point somebody
else has to take advantage of that, and LAT two
is the most obvious one he's got to take. He's
got to start taking a step for this pass rush
to be less of a concern than it's been so far.

Speaker 9 (01:34:48):
I was gonna ask you this to be clearly issues
and scoring touchdowns on the red zone, and we could
get to that in a minute, but the lack of
a pass run. I stayed four sacks last week, but
I think Joey, you could have had four set last
week against Tennessee.

Speaker 6 (01:35:01):
That's the way that kind of goes. But is this
something that is going to need to be addressed?

Speaker 3 (01:35:09):
If this team.

Speaker 9 (01:35:10):
Let's just say, for example, we get into mid October
and they're playing at this level and you know, they've
got a stranglehold on the South and things are looking good.
Is this something you feel that they're going to need
to address or are they going to just hope that
a lot too kind of evolves into it on the

(01:35:30):
fly here.

Speaker 19 (01:35:31):
I my best guess is that they would see it
as that they've got a lot of good guys there,
and they they probably ride with what they have. I
think that my number one concern on this team right
now is how consistent this pass rush.

Speaker 1 (01:35:47):
Is going to be going forward.

Speaker 19 (01:35:49):
I just don't know if we're going to see them
addressing at the trade deadline.

Speaker 6 (01:35:54):
Joel he told us at the start of the season,
and I'm going to keep riding this horse. They would
win seven seven games this year. I did they already
have three, They're almost halfway to the seven you predicted.

Speaker 3 (01:36:07):
Do they fall this week and finally taken ill?

Speaker 1 (01:36:11):
Yeah? I think going out west.

Speaker 19 (01:36:14):
I think going out West, playing the play in the West,
the game on the West coast there, and just with
the injuries they're dealing with the way the Rams have
been playing, I think this is a good I think
this is.

Speaker 1 (01:36:25):
Probably their first loss, right, I think I said this.

Speaker 19 (01:36:28):
I think I said this to you the other day.
As you mentioned, my predictions so far have been pretty bad.
So my predictions have been pretty bad. So Colt fans
would take to take some solace in the fact that
I'm saying I don't think they're going to win on Sunday.

Speaker 9 (01:36:44):
So your former colleague Nate Atkins, who is working for
the Athletic now covering the Rams out in LA had
mentioned this a little bit earlier, that Davante Adams had
a hamstring situation and he is listed as questionable.

Speaker 3 (01:36:58):
First, he better be treated, you guys.

Speaker 9 (01:37:00):
To some type of a cocktail dinner.

Speaker 3 (01:37:03):
Or something like that when you're out in southern California.

Speaker 9 (01:37:06):
But second, do you look at the injury situations that
we talked about with the Colts, how do you compare
that to what the Rams are going through going into
this week number four match up in Southern California.

Speaker 1 (01:37:18):
Yeah, the Rams have some stuff at corner.

Speaker 19 (01:37:21):
They've had some issues on the offensive line.

Speaker 20 (01:37:23):
If if Adams had a hamstring, I think that that
probably helps the.

Speaker 19 (01:37:28):
Colts quite a bit because maybe Warred involved a little
bit more.

Speaker 1 (01:37:32):
Hamstrings are tough to play through, especially as wide receiver.
That's interesting. We'll see where they end up. We'll see
where they end up.

Speaker 19 (01:37:40):
But I just feel like with with some of the
depths at the positions where they're going against the positions
where the Colts are missing guys, I think it could
be big.

Speaker 4 (01:37:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
I kind of wonder about that as well.

Speaker 9 (01:37:54):
I just like I think the Colts, even with missing
guys Joel, have been pretty fortunate so far are to
be three and zero and to have sustained this one may.

Speaker 3 (01:38:05):
Be tough, and I guess I also kind of magnify
what the.

Speaker 9 (01:38:10):
Rams went through last week and how they got beat
on probably the bad beat of the season of the NFL,
and how they went down against the former Super Bowl
champion Philadelphia Eagles has a little bit more inspiration and
making this even more difficult coming up on Sunday than
that what it might have been had they had won,

(01:38:31):
for example, Joe in Philadelphia this pass up.

Speaker 19 (01:38:34):
I think the biggest thing that sticks out to me
is just that Matt Stafford seems to me and this
Rams offense seems to me to be kind of some
of this.

Speaker 1 (01:38:42):
Is dependent of course, then Devonte Adams.

Speaker 19 (01:38:45):
But Matt Stafford seems like he's the kind of quarterback
who might give this defense shouble if they can't get
a pass rush going. Because I was talking earlier about
time to throw, Matt Stafford is third in the NFL
in time to throw.

Speaker 1 (01:38:57):
He's getting the ball out really quick. I think he's
only sack five times.

Speaker 19 (01:39:01):
They've got issues on the offensive line, but so did Tennessee.
And it wasn't like the Colts were getting a bunch
of sudden pressure on Tennessee. The sacks they got were
kind of second effort after Cam Warrid that started scrambling around.
The way Stafford is currently playing, they're not going to
be opportunities for that because he's not going to be
scrambling around. He's gonna get the ball out of his hands.
So I just kind of think that this matchup that

(01:39:23):
goes against what we've seen from the Colts defense so far.
And the other thing is it's going to be hard
for lou An Rumo to fool a guy like Stafford
who's been in the NFL for ever.

Speaker 1 (01:39:33):
I you know, he started, he started I think.

Speaker 19 (01:39:36):
When I was I think he got in the NFL
when I was still covering. Yes, he's not even the SEC.
He might I might have been in Texas covering high
school football when he got in the NFL.

Speaker 9 (01:39:44):
Yeah, I would agree, it's going to be very difficult. Plus,
you know, the last time we saw rookie Puka Nakula,
he was like running wild through the landscape of the
Colt Secondary doing whatever he wanted to do. And you
know that's that's something you also have to focus in
on coming up on Sunday significantly. Joel as well.

Speaker 1 (01:40:03):
Yeah, Ni who is great. He's just great.

Speaker 19 (01:40:06):
He's a guy who's got a really good feel for coverages,
where to get open. They move him all over the place,
they find ways to get the ball in his hands.
He's a great player and a real tough, tough task
for the secondary.

Speaker 3 (01:40:23):
Joey Erickson of The Star and Chris you got first.

Speaker 6 (01:40:26):
And Joel with your hair, Hell, I don't even know
if I can remember what you were to have more
hair in the interview with Joel than I do the
rest of the show. So see if you can notice it. So, Hey,
what trendy club are you and uh Nate going to
this weekend in Southern California.

Speaker 19 (01:40:42):
My My current plan is actually to meet up with
the UH with with Chris's colleague, with my colleagues from
the TV station, and go to the Angels Astros game.

Speaker 1 (01:40:52):
That's my current plan.

Speaker 3 (01:40:53):
Oh really, why don't you guys go to like a bar,
you know.

Speaker 1 (01:40:58):
Get get some season playoff s baseball.

Speaker 3 (01:41:03):
A meaningful game in.

Speaker 4 (01:41:07):
It.

Speaker 3 (01:41:08):
I was thinking more Strip Club, but I guess I'm
out on that.

Speaker 20 (01:41:12):
Come on, that's not really my thing.

Speaker 6 (01:41:15):
Joel's a good fan like you. Hey, Joe, Hey, Joe, wait,
wait until you hang around me for a while. Okay, buddy,
why do you think he never comes to the show. John, Hey,
I've watched the movie with Rob Low and James Spader
Bad Influence, and I'm the robb Low right there.

Speaker 9 (01:41:33):
I'm your bad influence. But you'll have fun in the process.
But you can blame it all on me.

Speaker 3 (01:41:38):
That'll be okay.

Speaker 1 (01:41:40):
I don't know, I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (01:41:43):
All right, Joel, we'll see if you're losing a streak
of picks comes through again, we'll see what happens.

Speaker 3 (01:41:48):
A Joe man, we appreciate your brother Bold.

Speaker 1 (01:41:51):
Fans have to be real happy with my pick. So far,
I'm making them win.

Speaker 9 (01:41:56):
You are, hey, one of these days you got to
join us out, Okay, Bud, I will absolutely Joel a
ericson and first and Joel Chris Joel to go, Joel
on the Andy Moore on the Motif group, Paul one.

Speaker 3 (01:42:09):
So is hey, James, has Chelsea called yet? She said?

Speaker 6 (01:42:12):
The hotline number says it was disconnected. So I got
to make sure we got the right number for her
to call in.

Speaker 21 (01:42:17):
Chris, do you have the whole the old hot line number?

Speaker 7 (01:42:19):
Is that the one you gave her?

Speaker 4 (01:42:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:42:21):
Text John the new one and I'll send it to her.
All right, So I'll tell you what. We'll take a
break and come back.

Speaker 9 (01:42:26):

CBS four correct the anchor yep?

Speaker 3 (01:42:30):

So she's got a window to call, all right. So
there it is right there. Yeah, there's there's the hot

Speaker 13 (01:42:40):

Speaker 18 (01:45:17):
Hey guys, I'm so jealous to hear your Behringers. That's
one of my favorite little hangouts.

Speaker 3 (01:45:24):
Now, wait a minute, are you a south side or Chelsea?

Speaker 21 (01:45:28):
Where girly?

Speaker 18 (01:45:29):
But I do make my way to the south side
some so Sam's is my go to. But I do
love a Behringer's hangout.

Speaker 9 (01:45:37):
Let me tell you, I think the folks at Behringers
will be thrilled if you made an appearance one of
these days, Chelsea. I'm just guessing.

Speaker 21 (01:45:44):
I'm guessing it's made many appearances.

Speaker 3 (01:45:46):
They just didn't know it. John was asking me how
long you've been here, and I said, like a year?
Is that right?

Speaker 18 (01:45:54):
No, that's wrong, because I've been here a year and
a half. Chris Hagen, you've been dealing with my.

Speaker 21 (01:46:00):
Since May of twenty twenty four, and here I am
a year and a half later.

Speaker 6 (01:46:05):
And to tell you about her antics, John, they're in
the commercial break. She's texted me a lot of commercials here,
just a lot of commercials.

Speaker 21 (01:46:12):
So yeah, I mean I guess that the revenue is there.

Speaker 9 (01:46:15):
We got to make some money here, Chelsea, There's no
doubt about that. Hey, what your existence? Where are you from?
And how'd you get here?

Speaker 3 (01:46:22):
Tell us?

Speaker 21 (01:46:23):
Okay, So I'm from very northern New York.

Speaker 18 (01:46:26):
I grew up about ten minutes from the Canadian border
and a town called Malone, New York.

Speaker 21 (01:46:30):
Super small town. Everyone goes to Buffalo when they think
upstate New York. Drive five hours east and north. I'm
about an hour and a half.

Speaker 18 (01:46:40):
An hour and a half south of Montreal is where
I was born and raised, went to school up there,
got my degrees, started my career in broadcast journalism in
western Colorado, spent six years in northwest Arkansas Woupig Suey,
and then moved here a year and a half ago.

Speaker 6 (01:46:57):
Okay, that's a little bit more than John was hoping for.
And also careful with the Whoopig Suey. They play notre
name on Saturday now. But what I think is to
get your name out there. I've complained to you about
this before. I can't get a promo for anything. You've
got these big long promos, but throw out your social
media's for the listeners here. So they can get to
know you a little better.

Speaker 18 (01:47:18):
Oh, I love that. I mean you can pretty much
just find me by searching Chelsea Helms. Sometimes there's a
one on the end of there. But just look for
the blonde girl and that's me.

Speaker 21 (01:47:28):
Easy enough, right.

Speaker 3 (01:47:29):
Chris Chelsea him. Do you make fun of Chris all
the time? He says you do? He kind of. He
gives some subtle complaints about how you make fun of him.

Speaker 21 (01:47:39):
Here's the deal.

Speaker 18 (01:47:40):
You can't just make fun of someone, right. People usually
give you like Ammo to make fun of them. So
in my defense, she's just an easy target.

Speaker 6 (01:47:51):
Also, John points she'll park next to my car in
the parking lot, like three inches from my door, so
I can't get in my car.

Speaker 3 (01:47:58):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (01:47:59):
But somehow she like does some type of yoga where
she can slink out of her car, but then I
can't get into my car.

Speaker 3 (01:48:04):
Put you back in a bag, No, she backs in.

Speaker 18 (01:48:09):
I do, so then she can't get around both mirrors.
It's it's so great, And you said I do yoga.
I actually am a bar instructor, news anchor, bar instructor
at the erth a YMCA.

Speaker 21 (01:48:20):
So workout there the launch cardio yoga.

Speaker 3 (01:48:27):
Oh, that's just for you, John. I think that's I
could do that right there.

Speaker 21 (01:48:31):
Hey, nice for you Tuesday, JMV. I'll see you there.

Speaker 3 (01:48:33):
I'll save your spot, man, Chelsea. Helm's a little bar instructor, Chelsea.

Speaker 6 (01:48:39):
He was asking about you and Bob Donaldson, obviously the
the anchor of all of the.

Speaker 3 (01:48:46):
Yeah, there's like one hundred and fifty year age gap
right there.

Speaker 21 (01:48:50):
So you know what's funny.

Speaker 18 (01:48:52):
Bob Donaldson is one of those men who is like
so serious if you can believe it, right, So, the
first couple of.

Speaker 21 (01:48:59):
Months I was sitting next to him on TV, I
was like, oh my.

Speaker 18 (01:49:02):
Gosh, this guy hates my guts, this guy hates me.
I'm never going to get him to like me. And
then we're we are like the best of friends. We
are two peas in the pod. We sit there during
commercial breaks and we just joke. Don't get me wrong,
he's serious.

Speaker 21 (01:49:16):
He rains me and when I need to be. But
other than that, like he truly is such a great guy.
He knows this area like no other.

Speaker 18 (01:49:23):
It's unbelievable how well and how much he loves and
knows this coverage area.

Speaker 6 (01:49:29):
Well, I can tell you this, Chelsea, the other day
when I sang fever Los Vegas god Bob Bob Bob
seemed to enjoy my hijinks and you you were very
rude to me on broadcast television.

Speaker 18 (01:49:40):
Yeah, did one of your friends tell me call me
a nasty name to you and your.

Speaker 3 (01:49:45):
Messages which wasn't very nice?

Speaker 6 (01:49:47):
Sweet a couple of I'll call him out because you
know who it is, Paul Jones, former.

Speaker 3 (01:49:52):
Team Oh yeah, well he's he's a huge douchebag, So
who cares.

Speaker 21 (01:49:56):
I was like, I he should know that I'm not.
That's a bad thing he called me. And really, I'm
just trying to put up with Hagen's baloney.

Speaker 9 (01:50:04):
Yeah, Paul Jones, man, nice, Paul Jones would make it
five minutes in.

Speaker 3 (01:50:09):
Your bar instruction. I can tell you that not a
lot of people can.

Speaker 6 (01:50:15):
Hey, we got to get some kind of charity thing
and we'll go out there and see who can last
longer in the class.

Speaker 3 (01:50:20):
John, I think we're me. No, I think we know.

Speaker 6 (01:50:23):
I think I would be you know what, I'm sneaky athletic.
I think I could last. How long is a class there, Chelsea?

Speaker 21 (01:50:28):
An hour long?

Speaker 3 (01:50:30):
An hour of intake the under of.

Speaker 21 (01:50:33):
The muscles and soreness.

Speaker 3 (01:50:35):
I think, yeah, oh that's okay.

Speaker 12 (01:50:38):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:50:38):
John was asking and I didn't know the answer. Why
aren't you on TV right now?

Speaker 18 (01:50:42):
Because I am getting ready to host the IVY Tech
Foundation's Benefactor Awards. So I'm at soundcheck waiting for everyone
to get here, hanging out in this side room at
the JW. Marriott downtown Indianapolis, getting ready to host this
awards ceremony.

Speaker 3 (01:50:58):
We kind of what kind of sound check? Ned you?
What is this again? The ivy Tech Say it again, Chelsea, it's.

Speaker 21 (01:51:05):
The Benefactor Award and I think you're st alumni.

Speaker 6 (01:51:09):
That's pretty cool. I I thought she shaid ibj from it.
I thought she said ivy Tech. Won't you listen? I
tried about, Chelsea. Is that something that you found that
people as you stay here longer a year and a half,
where you get asked to do more of these things
and it's you're you're really becoming a part of the community,
thanks in part to your long promo that I don't
have one.

Speaker 18 (01:51:27):
Definitely, I mean, first and foremost, I would say one
of my favorite parts of being a news anchor is
getting to be involved in these not for profit organizations.
And being able to, you know, do things for events
and just really be philanthropic. So yeah, I think that
getting involved in these events has only grown certainly the
longer I've been here. But I mean, you know, Chris,

(01:51:48):
when I was in Northwest Arkansas, I was hosting galas
all the time, so that was really something I looked
to continue once I moved here to Central Indiana. And yeah,
I think it's a really great thing for exposure, but
I mean, honestly, it's really about.

Speaker 21 (01:52:03):
Giving back and being able to do things for people
that you know, they don't usually have the staff to
do them. Like, no one ever wants to get up
on a stage, you know, other than maybe the three.

Speaker 3 (01:52:11):
Of us exactly.

Speaker 6 (01:52:13):
Well, we know you're a news nerd and we were
talking earlier about news nerds don't really know about sports.
But we welcome all people here. So why don't you
tell us your favorite sports teams?

Speaker 4 (01:52:23):
Do you?

Speaker 3 (01:52:23):
Do you have any sports teams that you live and
die with?

Speaker 18 (01:52:26):
Yeah? So my favorite sports team is probably the Indianapolis Colts.

Speaker 21 (01:52:32):
Oh come, I love the Pacers and the Fever College.

Speaker 18 (01:52:39):
I go back to my roots of when I was
in Arkansas. Woopig Suey Arkansas Razorbacks. So I'm sorry, guys,
I am cheering on the Razorbacks over Notre Dame this weekend.

Speaker 21 (01:52:49):
Is that going to get me? Cancel?

Speaker 6 (01:52:51):
You didn't like the Colts and Pacers before you moved
here when you were a kid. The Montreal Canadians. Yeah, hockey,
now rest in peace.

Speaker 3 (01:52:59):
You're five. I'm sure he told you what sports teams
to like. Who did he like?

Speaker 20 (01:53:04):
Okay?

Speaker 21 (01:53:04):
Well, actually, JMV. You'll get a kick out of this.

Speaker 18 (01:53:08):
I used to go to Expos games growing up.

Speaker 3 (01:53:11):
Whoa, you know how awesome that is. I didn't know
that that is. She has an exposed had, but I
didn't know this bout Chelsea. That's awesome. How many games
did you go to Expos wise? Oh?

Speaker 18 (01:53:23):
Probably I would say ten or more. I mean it
was only an hour and a half or more.

Speaker 21 (01:53:27):
I grew up. So my dad's a.

Speaker 18 (01:53:29):
Big Yankees fan, but that was the closest stadium to us,
so we would just cross the border and go.

Speaker 21 (01:53:36):
And watch the Expos. I used to beg my dad
when I was a kid.

Speaker 18 (01:53:39):
I wanted like a little stuffed animal of that big
orange free mascot.

Speaker 21 (01:53:44):
I loved it, but my dad was a big.

Speaker 18 (01:53:45):
Yankees fan, big Giants fan, but obviously being from New York,
moms from Colorado, so Denver Broncos have always kind of
been part of the mix too.

Speaker 6 (01:53:56):
No, I know it already happened, but talk about your
walk you did in honor of your father recently.

Speaker 18 (01:54:01):
Yeah, So this past weekend we just had the Indianapolis
part Walk, and thanks to everyone who came out and donated,
by the way, because as a whole, that event raised
six hundred and thirteen thousand dollars, which is incredible. But
that's just one of many events that I participate with,
and which is for the American Heart Association, because I
lost my dad this past.

Speaker 21 (01:54:21):
July it would be ten years ago.

Speaker 18 (01:54:24):
So yeah, I'm really involved in the American Heart Association
and trying to raise money because guess what, you guys,
The reality of the matter is that it's the leading
cause of death for both men and women. So chances
are if we're not going to be impacted by it,
someone we love is. So raising money for stuff like
that is very important. And one thing I'll say about
this is I've kind of always thought about doing it

(01:54:45):
in memory of my dad, right recently, I've thought about
it as an investment in my future and the people's
futures that I love because at the end of the day,
the American Heart Association is funding research that could potentially
save one of our lives.

Speaker 9 (01:54:59):
Man, that's awesome, Chelsea. You're outstanding. And what's up next
is joining us for a live show.

Speaker 3 (01:55:06):
Do you like to drink? Do I ever give me
the China? I don't think we need her? And well
we drink. We drink bud Light right here because they're
the sponsor. Chelsea, Okay, so.

Speaker 6 (01:55:19):
I love you too, Yeah, ice cold bud Light, and
then we do with heaven Hill Distillery. I think Chelsea's
Chelsea's favorite beer is my favorite beer, which is free beer.

Speaker 3 (01:55:29):
So that's what I like. Hey, Chelsea, Actually.

Speaker 21 (01:55:31):
You know what you tell bud Light. I love at Mitchellada.
I drink those all the time. Bud Light Shiladas.

Speaker 6 (01:55:38):
They're they're here right now from from Zinc Distribution. They
are the bud Light folks here. But do you have
to come out and join us sometimes that'd be a.

Speaker 21 (01:55:46):
Blessed I would love I would love to Thanks for
having me on. I've had a great time. I'm sorry
you have to deal with this.

Speaker 3 (01:55:52):
What do anybody say that? Though we did not get
in her way, if she's doing the anchor work.

Speaker 6 (01:55:58):
She's gonna have to call we get ten sick days.
I think she called. What you do is on Thursday
you start saying, oh, my throat feels a little scratchy.
And then the next day and then somehow everybody notices
she's actually on the remote with us. I don't think
anybody pay attention though, hey.

Speaker 3 (01:56:14):
Did you take over for Debbie Knocks?

Speaker 18 (01:56:17):
That I did talk about big shoes to fill, But
I always say I'm not filling her shoes because she's
a legend. I'll walk in my own and take notes
from her, because that woman was just a force.

Speaker 6 (01:56:29):
Debbie Knocks, speaking of Chelsea's shoes, One time I had
to repair her shoes and after I fixed it, she
she just undid what I did. I nailed her heel
back on and then she just took it off, just
ruined all my What are you talking about. I'm just saying,
that's the kind of person Chelsea is. She doesn't really
appreciate hard work.

Speaker 9 (01:56:47):
All right, Well, hey, Chelsea, besides this, you can come
out and join us for a show and drink and
have a good time.

Speaker 6 (01:56:54):
I think that needs to happen here relatively. So you
know what, Chelsea, you could do this when John does.
Don't aren't you down there? I Touchdowntown John, I am she.
You hosted it a couple weeks.

Speaker 18 (01:57:03):
Ago, I did.

Speaker 3 (01:57:04):

Speaker 9 (01:57:06):
Yeah, yes, watching You can come and join us in
touchdown town the cole Spree Goo.

Speaker 6 (01:57:11):

Speaker 21 (01:57:12):
I would love to come and pop over and say hello.

Speaker 9 (01:57:16):
Hey, Chelsea, it has been awesome to meet you, and
certainly feel free to join us.

Speaker 3 (01:57:22):
We do a lot of live shows. Hey, it hangs
out with me per usual.

Speaker 4 (01:57:25):
I go on.

Speaker 9 (01:57:26):
I do fifty nine overtime most of the time. You're
lucky to have a shirt on, for one, but sometimes
I have a shirt on most of the time. Most
of the time, there's no way I have any pants on,
So it's awesome.

Speaker 3 (01:57:37):
I love.

Speaker 9 (01:57:38):
The one thing about COVID that is great is I
can do fifty nine overtime from my house with no
pants on.

Speaker 3 (01:57:44):
It's beautiful.

Speaker 7 (01:57:45):
Yeah, we'll all hang.

Speaker 21 (01:57:46):
Out with you in person, all of our clothes on.

Speaker 3 (01:57:48):
How does that sound You got that? Chelsea? Thank you
very much for calling in today. It's great to meet you.

Speaker 21 (01:57:54):
Thank you, great to speak with you.

Speaker 18 (01:57:55):
Guys.

Speaker 21 (01:57:56):
Have a great rest of your night.

Speaker 3 (01:57:57):
Hey, do a good job tonight. Make us proud.

Speaker 9 (01:57:59):
Shells see the helms. She's from where the Clampers. She worked,
where the Clampers are from.

Speaker 3 (01:58:05):
How about that?

Speaker 6 (01:58:05):
Though I didn't know she had gone to exploit, I
know she had a expos that's pretty thought about it,
just trying to be stylish.

Speaker 3 (01:58:09):
I think her favorite player was Andre Dawson or wry Or.
I think I tell she was younger than that. I
think it'd be like Vlad Guerrero.

Speaker 6 (01:58:17):
Who can name Gary the most exposed players Mois Salou
Steve Rogers. I thought he was Captain America. But yeah,
I thought I thought you'd enjoy having Chelsea on the show.
She's she's fun and she's but she can be serious
when she needs to be on the news. But she's
also uh fun to talk to. And then more people

(01:58:39):
need to check her out there on the social media's
Chelsea Helmes, Chelsea Helmes, Everybody.

Speaker 6 (02:00:56):
You see that that week you weren't even throwing it
like they one thirty one, ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (02:01:03):
How many did you score?

Speaker 3 (02:01:07):
It's like one hundred and sixty. I scored thirty one.
Do not get it through the whole their what couldn't
punch it through? Hey, do we have a class for
union now? Mannual High School? Manual High School. I believe
they graduated with the van Harsdales back there.

Speaker 6 (02:01:24):
I don't know that was Yeah, Van Tom and Dick
van Harsdale went to Manual High School back I.

Speaker 3 (02:01:29):
Believe we got the class of nineteen seventy. We're a
lot of Hawaiian shirts.

Speaker 9 (02:01:35):
I love the class of nineteen seventy. Hey, Chris, they
were listening to classics like Vanilla.

Speaker 3 (02:01:41):
Fudge, You keep me hanging on and you know what?
You know what.

Speaker 6 (02:01:45):
They didn't have a cell phone, They didn't have a
computer in their life. Was a thousand times better than
Look at them. How they know how to interact and
talk with each other. They're they're not Their heads aren't
over a phone right now?

Speaker 9 (02:01:56):
Hey, Rob, tell everybody about the weekend here at Beringers
in case you can't make it today, but certainly for
a Saturday or a Sunday.

Speaker 3 (02:02:03):
What you got going, Yeah, we served breakfast on the weekends.

Speaker 17 (02:02:06):
We open at ten and then we roll into college
football on Saturdays, Pro football on Sundays and all the TVs.

Speaker 3 (02:02:12):
I'm sure we'll play the Fever two if oh yeah,
play for game three later on tonight. Hagen has already
installed that as a must wind. I would agree. But
we do, uh yeah, do a nice job here and
it's good time, So come on out.

Speaker 6 (02:02:26):
Let me tell you what you're gonna want to be
here tomorrow because there are several ranked versus ranked college
football games. You can't watch them all on one TV
at home, So get out here and take it all
in because it's going to be a fantastic day. You
got Fever tonight, you got a great day at college
football on tomorrow, including IU at Iowa, and then of
course Sunday you can start your day earlier here and
watch the one o'clock games, settle in for that Colts game.

Speaker 3 (02:02:48):
Yeah, four oh five start on Fox.

Speaker 6 (02:02:51):
Fifty nine by the way, Yes, so it's going to
be a great day for a great weekend for sports
on TV. You can't beat the food and the people
here as well, so it makes no sense not be here.
And when Shieler's credibility, your favorite Grocer's refrigerator original bacon
and Shadar sharp cheddar and Jalapinio Pepper Whins Shieler's credibility
back for the football season of twenty twenty five. The

(02:03:11):
AUM thing is going to be interesting tomorrow too, because
this is the Illinois was the test, don't get me wrong,
the ninth rank of lin High last week.

Speaker 3 (02:03:19):
But on the road in Iowa City, that's gonna be
difficult Chris tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (02:03:23):
Yeah, because you always think about you young young kids,
college kids. You went out there and you made your
big statement. You could tell they wanted to be in primetime,
and they absolutely put a beat down on Illinois. So
how do you follow that up? You go on the road,
always a tough place to play. You're gonna get defense,
you're gonna get special teams. So how do they follow up? Well,
they you know, they kind of proved who they are. Well,

(02:03:44):
when you're in the elite of college football, you got
to prove it every week and you're gonna get You're
gonna get Iowa's best punch. But I like the Hoosiers
to win. I'm not sure I'd like to lay eight
points in that one, and now I see here it's
gone to eight and a half. But tomorrow you've got
undefeated Ohios date at undefeated Washington, LSU at Old Miss
and the Wash.

Speaker 3 (02:04:03):
He's going to get beat down by Gonna Kennedy.

Speaker 6 (02:04:05):
We got Oregon at Penn State, Are you kidding me?
We got Alabama at Georgia. We mentioned the biggest game
of the day, of course, Tennessee at Mississippi State.

Speaker 3 (02:04:14):
We've got the blue Zone, Notre Dame and arkatsas on that.

Speaker 9 (02:04:17):
That's a tough one right there for you, because Arkansas
is gonna be ready to go two or two on
the season, good offensively.

Speaker 3 (02:04:24):
Notre Dame hopefully can score at will.

Speaker 6 (02:04:26):
Notre Dame favored by three and a half Colts three
and a half point zero. Three and a half is
the spread, And so many of these games and those
are often the most difficult to uh prognosticate.

Speaker 3 (02:04:37):
If you will.

Speaker 6 (02:04:38):
So I do like I like the Colts to win outright.
I think Notre Dame gets beat gets beat at Arkansas.
I like Alabama against Georgia. I think Oregon wins at
Penn State Fever tonight. It's a must win for the Fever.

Speaker 3 (02:04:55):
It is.

Speaker 6 (02:04:55):
I'm not going to pick a winner. I know that
the Aces are road favorites. Is this a heart where
all the injuries and all the problems that Fever have.
Is this the night he catches up with him. You're
gonna have a great crowd. It will be electric. I
just hope they're able to come out with a win.
I don't know that they will.

Speaker 9 (02:05:10):
Rob, Thanks for having us man, Thank you. I'm going
to be back in a couple of weeks. You can't
too this place, Barons Tavern. Hey, make sure if you're
listening to the show today you couldn't make it out.
Make sure you do at some point, because this place
is the legendary eighteen seventy nine right all the way
back to eighteen seventy How much is original here from
eighteen seventy nine.

Speaker 3 (02:05:34):
Most of it is original from nineteen forty nine. That's
still impressed. It a little remodeled then, so still pretty impressive.
These walls could talk. Can you imagine what they would say?

Speaker 9 (02:05:45):
Thanks Rob, Thank you Rob for Barriages Tavern here Bud
Blue Friday.

Speaker 3 (02:05:50):
Rob's always smiling. That's why he's right now.

Speaker 6 (02:05:52):
You smiling right now, our friends from ZINC two, thank
you all for Bud Light Blue Friday.

Speaker 3 (02:05:58):
We'll do it again coming up next week. What you
got this weekend for Sagan.

Speaker 6 (02:06:01):
Blue Zone eleven thirty CBS four on Sunday morning, the
game is on Fox fifty nine. Then at ten thirty
five on Fox fifty nine it's Sports Overtime. We'll have
inside the locker room from out in La with our
Chris will looking. We'll have John on with his analysis
of not only what's going on with the Colts, but
the fever as well.

Speaker 3 (02:06:18):
Got you no doubt about that.

Speaker 9 (02:06:20):
Hey, we got the fever coming up later on tonight
right here, Pivotal Game three at the field House versus
the Vegas Aces for you too. Now I've got col
Tapiaur at the top of the hour, Chris, thank you
very much. You got about here as well. Always awesome.
Thank you all for joining us. Thank you for helping
get Matt a gig as well, Eric and the gang
