Speaker 1 (00:10):
And here we go here.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Anything you have a chance against us, mister cowboy?

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Okay, what do you like to do?

Speaker 4 (00:18):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (00:19):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (00:20):
Play chess?

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Screw well, there's play chest.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
They give off the Jonathan Taylor chuck cutting its way
clock of the goal line. He's in there. Put down.

Speaker 7 (00:31):
Why Jonathan Taylor wheeler finds.

Speaker 5 (00:36):
Here's Haliker into the front board.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
Mishandled it. Mcgainst a shot here it finds it. John.

Speaker 7 (00:44):
I have never been bedroom to be on the air
with you here in Indianapolis, a place where so many
of my dreams have come true.

Speaker 5 (00:51):
With a ride with JMV on ninety three five and
one oh seven five.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
A couple of things to start. We're on course for
three hours, an incredibly mindless banter which I'm assuming most
of you out there, if you're like me, you need.
I know that we all should embrace the holiday spirit
and the snow and it's so pretty and all that.
But man, these last oh well, I should say, these
last hours have been a complete pain of the ass.

(01:18):
So I don't know about anybody else, but I can
straight do without it. I've been okay without it, not
really caring how beautiful that it looks by the way.
Shout out to and I am surrounded by great folks.
I love where I live. Love it. Ron DeVault, retired

(01:40):
from Lily, brings the John Deere over and clears the
drive away in about ten minutes. Thank you, brother, appreciate
that seriously. I've got from Jeff and Glinda Watson to
the Devaults, to my man Rick and Brayden sometimes in

(02:00):
studio with us, from Sinnegrove, the Dietrich family, the Sedinas,
the Emmons, and we're not all on top of one another.
It's a beautiful thing. Shout out to you guys. Thank
you very much. And I know that it was a
tough commute home last night. For the first time in
a while you had to deal with these slick weather conditions.
Took me about a buck ten to get home, but

(02:21):
got home safely. Hopefully you did as well. Maybe you
stayed around and watched the Pacers last night one thirty
five to one nineteen loser to the Cleveland Cavaliers. We
shall get into that in just a second. I don't
want to hear about what you talked about. TJ McConnelly
didn't play in the second half. Well, there was really
no need for him to play in the second half
if not like this game was in the balance. At

(02:44):
least it didn't seem like to me it was much
in the balance. But to suggest that you trade him away,
that he should be offered up, especially if you believe
this to be a gap season for the Pacers, if
this is just a blip on the radar, this is
just what happens when your best player, by the way,
should get MVP votes. Is Tyrese Haliburton considering where this

(03:08):
team is right now and where it was and when
he was participating. I mean, hell, it's not even close
without Miles in his nine to three, but not even close.
He should be getting MVP votes. You know the one
thing I love about Halliburton. I think we're all in
agreement on this. We love those the professional athletes here

(03:36):
that embrace where we are, that embrace our home that
aren't from here. And I know that that Halliburton has
family from Kokomo, and we've talked about that on this
show before with him. But at the Colts game on
Sunday doing what he can. It's not like he's half
ass in it on the bench either. I mean he's

(03:57):
putting in some thought. I mean, he has input. I
like it, and it's not just something well, hey, i
want to make sure I get on camera and I'm
acting like that. I'm engaged here. That's real, absolutely real,
and I dig that a great deal. I know you
guys do as well. He loves it around here, goes

(04:22):
to the coach games, enjoys that hanging with his team,
and I think we all understand exactly what has been
missed this team. There's no real way. And I love
nim hard, I love McConnell, and these guys give effort,
but there's no real way to equate what he brings

(04:43):
to this team. I mean stylistically or just host and
you can see the rest of the NBA with that
particular style. They're trying to do that, and a lot
of these teams are scuffling to try to do that.
You know, I mentioned this and I should take my
own advice. I was thinking last night and this wasn't

(05:04):
me and these are the ones that I like to
reference as nerds, But then I find myself doing it
with Jake and the crossover brought to you by love
heating an era that I kind of brought that up
with a nine to three for Miles that is something
I think we can all do without, because, as I've
mentioned before, if you're pissed off, and I was about

(05:26):
how he referenced his team, I don't care that he's
now in Milwaukee, but he is going to pay such
a steep price for all this because there is zero
way the Greek freak who is going to stay in Milwaukee.
And I know that it's early December, and I know
oftentimes it's probably tough to engage, especially when your team

(05:49):
like Milwaukee is scuffling. But among the players, especially these
star level players that look like they're completely disconnected from
their guy, he is at the top of the list.
When he's participating, he looks like he is having zero enjoyment.

(06:10):
And while I think we understood what they were going
to get, and I think a lot of Milwaukee fans
felt they understood what they were going to get, but
some felt that they were going to get this, you know,
double double type of stat stuffer. And we all knew
that on a night in, night out basis, that's probably

(06:30):
not what's going to happen. Now, again, we all understand
this because we were living it this past year. I mean,
the tail of the tape is going to be coming
up in the spring. Now right now, it's really meaningless
other than again our mindless banter. But I should take
my own advice because I've observed a lot of the

(06:51):
nerdery going on around. There's a great deal of nerdery,
a lot of the nerdery taking time out to make fun,
to poke fun. And I am no longer a fan
and not a supporter, but I would just kind of
back away and worry about what's going on here and

(07:11):
not worry about what's going on there. And with that,
I should stink and take my own advice. Hey, sometimes
I got to look in the mirror. Sometimes it's up
to you to call me out. Sometimes I have to
look in the mirror. And with that, I do need
to look in the mirror. One thirty five, one nineteen.
The Cavaliers over the Pacers last night. I am going

(07:33):
to go tomorrown Eye because the Nuggets are in town
and that means I get to see and Nikola Jokic.
If there is one player that would I would pay
the price of admission to see, it is him. And
I went a year ago, and the thing that astounds
me as I mentioned, is I bet ninety five percent

(07:54):
of the time he was never looking to where his
pass was destined, like you know, they always and Tony Romo,
like I mentioned this with Jacob, I was talking about
Keana Tom and what I used to watch on ESPN
in the mornings and the middays in the afternoons. Kana

(08:16):
Tom right at the top of the list. I think,
you know what that's all about. That's what Tony Romo
feels about Patrick Mahomes. And when Patrick Mahomes does one
of those no look passes, Tony Romo goes like straight
triple X on everybody, I mean, just loses it. And

(08:36):
with that in mind, that's kind of how I feel
about Jokic. It is incredibly enjoyable to watch somebody and
for whatever reason, Larry Bird was like that, Magic Johnson
was like that, Michael Jordan was like that. And it
doesn't just come down to sheer ability. It comes down
to being a step or two steps ahead. It's like

(08:59):
they know the future. We've always been chasing trying to
know the future. We have guys on here that try
to predict the future in football games, but we always
want to know the future and we don't have a
time machine, and that part sucks. I wish we did.
But the closest to a time machine that we have

(09:20):
is watching these dudes that know what's going to happen
before it happens. And Yokich is one of those exceptionally
elite guys in basketball. Just watch him and it doesn't
really do it a complete credit to him when you
watch it on TV. When you see it live, it's
mind blowing. And maybe I have to be a complete

(09:43):
basketball nerd, but I watched that a year ago and
I thought, like ninety five percent of the time he's
not even looking in the general vicinity of where he's
passing the basketball and just always right on target. And oh,
by the way, he does a lot of other things too.
That's coming up tomorrow night, so I shall look for

(10:03):
you and we'll talk about that. I'm sure coming up
again tomorrow. I will look for you at the Fieldhouse.
The field House is going to be a destination location
downtown in they a destination location. Do you think that
Ohio State fans are anywhere near excited as IU fans are?
Is this detrimental? We'll ask Danny Canal. That's coming up

(10:23):
in the five o'clock hour is the championship game as
excitable as every IU fan is. This is like a
glorious time in which you may never remember when we
all gathered. Was it a year ago in April for
the eclipse? When's the next time we're going to see
an eclipse? And I'm not suggesting that this program's not

(10:46):
going to be top shelf, but when's the next time
we're going to see an eclipse? That's kind of what
it feels like with this IU football team in the
Big Ten title game. It's like, holy crap, we got
to take advantage of this. And if you've seen the
ticket prices, you know exactly what I'm talking talking about.
You got to take advantage of this because this crap
may never happen. Again, not suggesting at all that Kurtz

(11:07):
Signetti is not going to continue to win games and
keep this football program at a high level, because again,
it's a new landscape and if you want to be
you can be. Yeah, you're not automatically pushed to the
back row. You don't have to be IU of the
past any longer if you're smart about it and you

(11:29):
have the resources. I u's been smart about it, and
they have the resources. It's gonna work. It has worked.
But when we all gathered, we went to the Allen
Porium in Castleton and we all got our little goggles
and we played every song imaginable that had anything to

(11:51):
do with the moon. A New Moon on Monday by
Duran Durant played NonStop on a loop, I think. But
we all gathered for everybody gathered for that, everybody around
here because this is gonna be the epicenter when we
can view it. And that's kind of what it feels

(12:12):
like with IU fans with this game on Saturday night.
And as I've mentioned before, men embrace it. Embrace it
because you have no idea if this is going to
happen again, You have no idea. Do I believe in
that program, in Kurt Signetti and what he has done
and Scott Doleson for what he has put together. Absolutely,
But can you bank on this happening again? Absolutely not.

(12:38):
So you see the ticket prices, you see the interest,
and that's why I have not been into the conversation
about how it could ill AFFECTU coming up here in
the playoff. I mean, you could fall even further. Are
we suggesting that you have to. Like, I think that
they can go out and be high level competitors because

(13:01):
I think if there's a team that's going to kind
of look at it and say, hey, this is what
we're going to lose. I'm not suggesting they're not going
to be competitive, and maybe that's a reversal. Maybe they'll
be more competitive because they believe dumbasses like me think
that they may not be as competitive because they're the
one seed and they have all this to lose. But again,

(13:23):
maybe that's the reason why you play at the highest level,
because you do have the most to lose, you have
the most to protect, you have the most to lose.
I mean, I use this kind of going in there
and this is what we have. You remember Columbus of
a year ago that clearly didn't go well. You want

(13:43):
to make amends. There was always something about too being
in position of the underdog and having to go out
to consistently prove yourself and believe me, this is all
your football program. Not even two years of this high
level of play is going to keep them from having

(14:04):
to do that in the eyeballs of the nation, because
we have a nation of folks that just say well,
if it's not of the SEC or high level Big Ten,
if it's not Ohio State or Michigan, you know it's
not any of that, then why are we paying attention?
And then your IU, and you've been the worst team

(14:25):
in college football forever and now you're just kind of
crashing the party. So you constantly feel as if you
have something to prove. That's a good thing. That is
a good thing, and it's a good thing for the
fans to be excited. I can't wait to see what

(14:47):
downtown and then what Lucas Oil Stadium looks like with
IU fans to Ohio State fans. I know Ohigh State
fans are absolutely incredibly in love with their program. Look
what they do to the Horseshoe every time they play
a home game there. But does it balance out? We'll

(15:09):
see if the level of play does on Saturday night,
but the fandom does it balance out? We'll ask those
questions and more of Danny Canell coming up in the
five o'clock hour. I actually cannot wait. I could not
give a fat crap more less in this case about
what else is going on that is such a focus
bullseye pregame party. I got passes for you. Kyle Kinnets,

(15:31):
got it going on. We got a pregame party for
you coming up. We'll give away passes for that. A
little bit later on Greg Rakestraw about what happened on
Friday and Saturday high school football wise, collegiate football wise,
we'll get into that with Greg and obviously the host
along with Bill Brooks of the postgame show of the Colts.

(15:51):
They are working out kickers today. Would you trust the
guy that you're pissed off at right now because he
bricked on a point after attempt again for a third
time that was costly clearly on Sunday at home? Or
would you roll the dice and bring in somebody that
has been unemployed here recently. There's really no good answer.

(16:18):
There are really no good answer. I get back to
yesterday for a moment too, and again we have more
mindless banter regarding that coming up for you. But I
think to me, those that have suggested, hey, you know,
when they're eight and four, are you not going a
little overboard here? Honestly, you can't go overboard. You cannot

(16:44):
go overboard because of recent history. I mean, they are
who they are until they aren't. You understand what I
mean by that if you believe right now you're thinking
that this team is fading and fading fast, and it

(17:04):
could be like just a garden variety of what has
been consistent disappointment over the years. It's got all the
feels of that, and just because it's never happened in
this fashion before, it doesn't mean that they can't serve
it up for you. Like I had to get into

(17:26):
debate last night because I had mentioned at the end
of the show that Daniel Jones, and somebody had asked me, Hey,
do this Daniel Jones? Is he still the guy? He
has to be the guy? And then the response was, well, no,
he doesn't. If they end up firing everybody, then you
know they're going to rebuild, rebuild with What What are

(17:47):
you rebuilding with with Riley Leonard, with Brett Rippen not
having first round selections? What exactly are you rebuilding with?
And I'm not going to get on Daniel Jones because
the guy's going out there, limping around and doing his best,

(18:07):
but he's not getting the support that is necessary from
his offensive line, from his defensive line, from his head coach.
I don't care what anybody says, I know his head
coach is a genius, but his head coach needs to
learn a little bit more about how you put him
in a situation, knowing who he is right now and
not who he was in September. And as we talked

(18:29):
about that with Stephen Holder yesterday, Steven's response was, well,
you know that's just their playbook. Well, you know what,
some things better change a bit in the playbook, or
his offensive line better protect a little bit better. Something
better happened, because this ain't working. And I know that,

(18:49):
just like it wasn't as smooth and rhythmic as it
was up until the Pittsburgh game. You cannot be who
you were do that because your quarterback isn't. But even
beyond that story, how's Daniel Jones not here next year?

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Hey?

Speaker 4 (19:09):
Chris Ballard may not be now? Who knows how carly ERSA.
Gordon's going to respond if this thing just fades, Because honestly,
when you dangle that Carrott and you have that high
level of success, this is going to be. This could
be honestly the biggest nutkick that we have seen around

(19:30):
here in forever, considering what they were and what they're now.
Morphing into at the very least, if you start out
and you stink, hey, you stink, and changes need to
be made. But you started out as one of the
best and even though you lost to the Rams, arguably

(19:53):
the best team right now in the NFL. And he
lost to the Rams, but you had them beat and
a player costs you that game. So a lot of
what we witnessed in the early portions of the season
wasn't just the schedule or wasn't just the orderly portion
of the season. It was legit. But you're that and

(20:14):
you go from the penthouse to the outhouse like that.
That makes it more excruciatingly bad. And I don't think
that this team's ever lost or gone down the tubes
in that fashion before. So this is a big damn deal.

(20:35):
But for those of you that believe that they're going
to rebuild and where you going to rebuild and start
new the house, Daniel Jones not going to continue to
be the guy. So what all of a sudden, now
you're not going to bring back Alec Pierce, You're going
to make tougher decisions on everybody else that you can't.
You have made decisions that frankly and I know you

(20:57):
haven't made one on Jones, but you've made decisions so
far the you're gonna have to live with and you're
gonna have to live with longer than just this year.
So what you need to do is transform and morph
into more of what you need to be right now,
and not as much as what you were when things
were going smoothly and there were no bumps in the
road back in September. That more coming up two three

(21:19):
nine ten seventy is that number. I've got the text
line that is open in three one seven two three
nine ten seventy as well. Hey, the Garage Pub and
Grill that is in Columbus, Indiana coming up on Thursday. Larceny,
bourbon locks, Lunazul tequila shots. You know it's funny. Somebody
had asked me a little bit earlier, Hey, you know

(21:40):
when you're going out to Waally, Bloomington and Columbus. Yeah,
why not like Lafayette? Why don't you come to Lafayette?
And I took that to heart. I'll explain coming up
in just a bit as well. But we're in Columbus
at the Garage Pub and Grill on Thursday, bart County.
I would love to see you. Brown, Decatur, Jennings, Jackson,

(22:00):
Southern Johnson and Shelby Counties. We would love to see you.
It's gonna be a great time coming up on Thursday,
and then at a brand new place I have never
been because it is new to tiebreakers on mass Ave
bud Light Blue Friday has us there. I have bullseye
passes for you for that party coming up on Saturday.
We've got that as well. Danny Cannell will join us

(22:22):
five o'clock Gower, JJ four o'clock Gower. Greg Rakes are
on the other side the strain of the app HD
Radio Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube live. Thank you
all for joining us. I am far from Holiday Festive.
I'm already fed up with the snow and the cold,
but I'm trying quick break back with your calls in
more next ninety three to five, one seven five the fan.

Speaker 5 (22:48):
The ride with JMV play him played that to me
and his mane.

Speaker 7 (22:52):
Ninety three to five and one oh seven five. The
fan calls are in search for a new kicker. They're
just holding trontoouts right now. That's and more coming up.
Danny Canell talks IU Ohio State Big Ten title game
coming up on Saturday. Danny's going to be here in
the five o'clock hour, JJ latest on the Pacers, Blue

(23:16):
and Gold report from Jeremiah Johnson coming up in the
four o'clock hour three one seven, nine, ten seventy. The
text line two three, nine, ten seventy the phones. This
is kind of the theme of the show Mindless Manter,
which I dig on the Andy Moore Automotive Group hotline.
He's going to fit right in with the Mindless Manter.

(23:36):
By the way to Butler, Eastern Michigan. Right here, we
got to go eight minutes longer and lead into Mentor
and Gardner coming up later on tonight, the Dogs and
those from one of the worst states of all time
and really one of the worst towns in the worst
dates of all time. Yipsilanti, Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Butler

(23:57):
later ont tonight. Here on the fan, Greg Greg Straw's
on the Indie. We're on a Mantinburry pot line. When's
the last time you were in yipsil Ante.

Speaker 8 (24:04):
The first year that I was the voice of the
then Iupui Jaguars, we played at Eastern Michigan and John
We pissed away a fifteen point lead with about six
minutes ago and lost by four. Thankfully, that loss was
avenged some twenty five years later by the now IU
Indie Jaguars on November the fourteenth.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
Am I accurate on this? This is my recollection and
it could be failing. Is the diminutive guard Earl Boykin
front correct? Eastern Michigan?

Speaker 8 (24:36):
Yes, that is correct, and they built a new arena
right after. Earl and Derek Dile, who also played in
the NBA, were together. In fact, one of Eastern Michigan's
great moments as a college basketball team came in our
fair City as the nine seed. They beat eight seeded
Duke at the RCA Dome in nineteen ninety six. They

(24:58):
then built this Love Convocation Center seats about nine thousand people.
They have not been that good since that time, and
they play in front of a staggering number of empty
seats on a regularly.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
Sweet They're at Hinkle later on tonight again your coverage
right here on the fan. My Sycamores play Eureka, and
I'm assuming that I could cobble together some dudes on
Sunday morning and beat Eureka is Eureka from Kansas.

Speaker 8 (25:24):
Eureka is from Illinois. Eureka is a Division III school,
so one of two non D one schools in Indiana State. John,
can you name the US president during our lifetime that
is an alumnus of Eureka?

Speaker 4 (25:38):
The US President of our lifetime? Yes, I don't know who.

Speaker 8 (25:43):
Ronald Reagan attended and played football at Eureka.

Speaker 4 (25:46):
Why didn't I know that?

Speaker 8 (25:48):
Well, because maybe they didn't teach that at Eastern Green.
But but did you hear the Big Eastern Green News today?

Speaker 4 (25:54):
Levi Carmichael's on the silver Anniversary team. Did I see
that accurately?

Speaker 8 (25:59):
That is correct? I get to recognize him at March eighteenth,
a are banquet at Primos on the South.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
I freaking love Levi. You know, it's funny. He was
the coach there after his career, and I didn't think
he cussed or something like that, and they ran him on.
The Hillbillies ran him off because they didn't play his
kids something like that. So he moved on to bigger
and better things. But he he is an awesome dude,
was an awesome player, one of my all time favorite Thunderbirds.

(26:28):
Levi Carmichael.

Speaker 8 (26:29):
If I read the note from town nnerup dirrectly is
he the all time leading score in the history of
Thunderbirds basketball.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
And less and less J. T. Yoho, who went to
write State ended up getting past him. I believe he
still would be that. And Levi, by the way, played
at Austin p.

Speaker 8 (26:48):
Collegiately fly Let's go pee.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
Absolutely no great, great dude And and honestly he deserved
better from his school that he brought so much too
when he was the head coach there. But I mean,
you know that being from Lanesville as well as I
know that, and a lot of other people do. Sometimes
you get in that small town rule basketball politics and
it's just not something you want to jack with. And

(27:11):
he didn't. I don't blame him, So that's kind.

Speaker 8 (27:13):
Of That's the great thing about Lanesville is that we're
so small worst come play the dudes. We got some
years that's good, some years that's not.

Speaker 4 (27:19):
Hey, Greg postgame show hosts with the Coats along with
Bill Brooks, do you expect Brian Mason and company to
find anybody anybody more useful than Michael Bagsley During workouts
this week to lead up to Jacksonville Sunday.

Speaker 8 (27:31):
Probably not, and I mean let me. I mean again,
you expect somebody to not miss three extra points in
seven games, So let's state that out loud. But the
big concern with Badgeley was not being able to make
from fifty plus yards right, So who was available a
couple of weeks ago. Matt Gay at the same issue
when he was here, and he is now kicking. I
want to say with the forty nine ers after being

(27:52):
let go by the Commanders, I mean, you get to
this point in the season, there's just not that much
left on the availer. And again, it's even even more
so now because with expanded practice squad sizes, a lot
of teams will stash a kicker on their practice squad
and so you're not getting the thirty third available guy,
you're getting like the fiftieth available guy. So I'm all

(28:15):
for finding a guy that doesn't miss extra points, and
I'm sure you could do that, But if you're gonna
make a move this late in the year, you're gonna
make a movie for a guy you think is definitively better,
and I'm not sure that guy's available with five weeks
a season left to.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
Go so Jacksonville at Seattle San fran and then Jacksonville
and Houston.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
Ya.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
I will say this about the Colts. I mean, they've
carved out their destiny and then kind of brought everybody
back into the photograph here. But they're still firmly in
control if they can find any footing whatsoever. But Greg,
to me, it starts with what is not going on upfront,
especially with that offensive line. You know what your quarterback

(28:56):
and his situation is right now, and between the head
coach and the all offensive line, it doesn't seem like
that they're really treating Daniel Jones in the fashion and
what he's going through right now and the way that
he should be.

Speaker 8 (29:08):
In other words, get Jonathan Taylor earlier touches and maybe
offers more max protection.

Speaker 4 (29:12):
I mean, yeah, don't treat Daniel Jones like it's September
when he's all healthy and stuff. I mean, that's what
it reminds me of. They still try to run, and
I know that that's what the playbook is about, but
it looks like they still try to run things that
he may be incapable of running when he's compromised injury wise,
now compared to when things were clicking and it was rhythmic.

Speaker 8 (29:32):
Back in September, well, I would say this, I have
noticed a lack of that boot that had run so
well for the Colts, as in not Daniel Jones wearing
a boot, but as in a bootleg play that was
free money for the Colts, whether it's the Warren or
Taylor or even Josh downs every time they ran it.
And I'm not sure that the Jones has the wheels
right now to run that play. So I think that

(29:54):
is kind of off the table. And obviously since the
Pittsburgh game, every team has seen that for for some reason,
what the Cults did against the Blitz early in the
year just up and went away at the middle of
the year. So every team is teeing off on him.
And now you add to the fact that he's banged
up and is a less mobile target and feels the
need to get rid of the ball. Because again, in

(30:15):
one sense, the Colts allowed seven less sacks than the
Bills did with Josh Allen as their quarterback. Ten days after,
you know, the Texans beat the Bills. But the same time,
Daniel had thirteen incompletions and his completion percentage was just
covering about fifty percent, which is we have known it's
not exactly a winning number. And so yes, to your point,
you know, maybe it's time to go all right, let's

(30:37):
let's change the game plan up to make sure we
accentuate the strong point of the team and to make
sure that you are protecting what your best availed option
is a quarterback by the guy that clearly isn't one
hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
Greg, Gotta tell you something else is not good is
when you have to look on the roster to find
out who is actually putting pressure on the quarterback compared
to the guys that should be doing it that aren't.

Speaker 8 (30:58):
That's a fair point. When Chris Warmly got that sack,
I immediately kind of waited for some of the booth with
JJ Stankowitz during the game. I waited for JJ to
speak his peace, and I kind of looked at it
and I said, and sixty eight thousand Colts fans just
said who he was activated, you know, the day before
and Attie Tommy was getting the other one. And so yes,

(31:19):
you know, defensively, I think overall, the Colts did what
they had to do. They held the Texans the twenty
points should have been sixteen because of the pass interference call,
so big picture culture what they needed to do, and
I think the offense ultimately failed on Sunday. But is
the pass rush getting home as much as they should be? No, John,

(31:40):
They're absolutely not.

Speaker 4 (31:41):
It's interesting Greg Gregsaw's on and Andy Moore on a
motive group plotline. But you look at Saturday the Big
Ten title game, and IU fans were excited and they
should be. I used teams excited they should be. Has
this become old hat and maybe not as excited for
the Ohio State folks and their team or because is
that the one seed and you want to maintain that

(32:02):
you're going to come in there as focused as you
normally would, as excited as maybe the IU fan base
is about their program.

Speaker 8 (32:09):
Right now, I think there's two things that has Ohio State,
maybe three things that has Ohio State hot and bothered
coming into this game. One, you just finally beat Michigan.
I mean, last year you won a national championship, but
they'll civilly meet in Michigan and that's something Michigan fans
could hold over your head. Now that is the longer
the case. So there's that two. I think what you

(32:31):
talked about in terms of ensuring that you are the
number one seed going into the final seven bowl games.
I think that's a big deal. And three, I think
it is the chance to get you to be the
big boy on the block and try to squash down
a program that is clearly on the rise in IU.
I think those three things are all motivating factors for

(32:53):
that team coming to Indianapolis. What I am going to
be very curious about. And obviously ticket price are to
the moon, yes, But normally in any scenario like that,
Ohio State is the de facto home team. They're playing
IU in Indianapolis, and this is a first ever, first

(33:13):
in three generations moments for Indiana football. Just what is
the crowd split going to be on Saturday night?

Speaker 4 (33:21):
What are you thinking?

Speaker 8 (33:23):
Is?

Speaker 4 (33:23):
What are you thinking? Because maybe it's just me being
here and you know the excitement level of IU fans.
I think IU fans are going to surprise everybody with this.

Speaker 8 (33:34):
I think it's going to be sixty forty, sixty five
thirty five IU fans. And let me let me throw
some financial logic behind that. If you're an Ohio State fan,
even if you lose this game on Saturday night, you've
done enough to be a top four seat, so you know,
in theory, you've got at least one, if not two,
or three more games suspend. For I could easily see
scenarios where a lot of Buck Guy fans that pre

(33:56):
bought those tickets because let's face their Ohio State they're
planning on playing in Indianapolis every year, and now selling
those to Indiana fans that don't want to miss this
once in a lifetime moment. When if you're an Ohio
State fan, this was a you know, once every December moment,
and so I think you will see more IU fans
than maybe a lot of folks would give credit for
coming into the game.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
What did you think of Friday and Saturday at Lucas
Oil Stadium. I thought there was a great deal of drama.
There was a lot of what you thought would occur
did occur, but there were some awesome football played per
usual well.

Speaker 8 (34:29):
Obviously the end of the ron Klli and Dwanger game
was probably the highlight of the week, or the drama
of is one of these teams going to score of
andre and Brownstown Central in terms of the two way
game at a block punt leading to the only points
of that contest. But big picture, John, this was as
competitive top to bottom as those state final games have been.

(34:50):
You know, the two that I had, frankly new Palin
Meryville was close from the final score indicate it was
a seventeen old game going to the fourth quarter. And
the Brownsburg Westfield game probably not as close as the
final score told you it was at thirty eight thirty one,
because that was a three score game until Westfield really
sorted to rally, you know, kind of late in that game.
But there was not There was not a massive blowout

(35:12):
in any of those games, and usually we have at
least one or two, if not even more than that
in a state final. So I think that was the
overarching theme for the weekend at Lucas Oil.

Speaker 4 (35:22):
So do you have a paragraph carved out regarding the
great Levi Carmichael?

Speaker 8 (35:27):
Not yet, John, But that event is like four months
from now. Yeah, So I worked on Yeah.

Speaker 4 (35:31):
Well, we called him Levey all the time. We always mispronounced.

Speaker 8 (35:35):
His name, and when he would when he would make
those shots, he would just simply say, the levee is
never dry, right, I'm telling.

Speaker 4 (35:41):
You he was. He was a damn damn good player.
And I know that Andy Eigil, who was a long
time coach down there, had a great deal to do
with it. I know that there was something in the
summertime he had to ride in. But yeah, and Andy
Eigil is one of the better coaches in the state
of Indiana that sometimes does again mentioned either, but such
an incredible high level of success. I ended up talking

(36:03):
about Mark Barnheiser all the time with good reason. But
it's interesting how Eastern Green has manufactured a couple of
really high level high school coaches in the past without question.

Speaker 8 (36:14):
So I'm assuming you're are looking at buying a table
for the event on March eighteenth, or maybe even doing
the show live from Primos on that day.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
Does the bar open? The bar is always? Do you
know that Dean Martin Junior right here is always ready,
willing and able when the bar is open.

Speaker 8 (36:33):
Well, I'll talk to holversus any sponsor. We'll work them in.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
All good, All right, brother, I appreciate that I miss
you on Saturday nights less than a month though we're
counting down again.

Speaker 8 (36:42):
I'm calling you next Saturday with Fernando and Abba. Whether
you're on the air or not it's all good.

Speaker 4 (36:47):
Hey, by the way to saying, or Mendoza, is that
going to be the winner of the Heisman from this game?
Or is there going to be love from Notre Dame.

Speaker 8 (36:54):
I was going to say it all depends on if
the quarterback playing is that strong. The quarter gonna have
to be lights out, and so if they kind of
play to a draw, it opens up the door for
Jeremiah Love. But if if Mendoza has a great game
of ie you wins, put his name on the trophy right.

Speaker 4 (37:11):
Now, Greg, I appreciate you, man. See abo Greg Raser
on the Andy Moore on a Motive group plotline Mendoza
and saying, what's your favorite song with say in the title?
Would it be? Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson say say
say what you want, but no play games with my affections. No,

(37:37):
James say you will say you won't Foreigner, which is
the shirt I'm rocking right now?

Speaker 9 (37:43):
See I'm drawing a complete blank on any songs. We
aren't saying it right now.

Speaker 4 (37:47):
Say it ain't so, Weezer, say it ain't so. The
outfield say you say me line, Ritchie, See if you
took me to a trivia contest. I'm whipping everybody's ass.

Speaker 9 (37:59):
Yeah if I if I'm ever doing some sort of
music themes trivia contest, you're my partner?

Speaker 4 (38:04):
Say it right? Is that Nelly Furtado I can't even
go to And that's not today. That was like twenty
years ago, close to today, as close as I'm gonna get
to today. Speaking of today, this is tonight number one
perdue on the road at Rutgers to start out, Big
ten play Missouri Notre Dame. Also later on tonight, but
Eastern Michigan and Butler right here when we conclude this show.

(38:25):
If you're on hold, I'll get to you on the
other side. Two three nine ten seventy the text line
three one seven two three nine ten seventy, as well
the Mindless Banter. On this Tuesday, we roll ninety three
to five one oh seven five.

Speaker 5 (38:37):
The Fan, The Ride with jmvme.

Speaker 4 (38:44):
The cream here, the cream of the crop, and there
is no one that doesn't.

Speaker 5 (38:50):
Better ninety three five and one oh seven five The Fan.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
For a third time, I guess a second time this season,
but a third kicker this year. The culture looking Michael
Badgy has been waived, so goodbye to Michael Badgley, three

(39:22):
miss pats in seven games that led to it, certainly
most recently on Sunday, that was the one that could
have put them in position with a kick to tie
it up instead of going for the touchdown. And we
all know how that went on Sunday. And I guess
they found somebody they liked better. We'll continue to follow

(39:46):
that story to see who they've found that they liked better.
A third in a season. How often does that work out?
A third in a season? Michael Badgely waived and more
on that coming up here at the top of the

(40:07):
hour for you as well. Jeremiah Johnson bottom of the
four and Danny Canell is going to be here coming
up in the five o'clock. Yallard, my man Matt Gowans,
who is the lead, the pres of Triple A, has
experienced the greatness of the Odin locker in Odin, Indiana.

(40:28):
Shout out to Andrew schwarzen Trooper down there that runs
that just incredible facility of luscious and glorious meats or
as we reference yesterday, proteins. Oh it's great and going.
I think he's going to join us coming up on Thursday.

(40:49):
I know that Spencer Thompson Thompson Furniture is going to
go down and sample some cocktails with us as well.
That'd be good to meet him down in Columbus again,
we have not been to that. Let me go in
and backpedal once before I was at the Columbus Buffalo
Wild Wings and this goes back hell, I don't know

(41:10):
seven eight years the garage Pub and Grill downtown Columbus Thursday, Larcity,
bourbon locks, Luna Zul tequila shots. So I would love
to see everybody down there. This is where the party goes.
Brent and I will make our Week fourteen selections. And

(41:32):
by the way too, I am fading, much like Michael
Badgeley has faded. I'm fading. I started out great. I'm
actually like the Colts. My season of larcenity, bourbon locks
and Luna Zul tequila shots. It's kind of reminiscent of
the Colts. Started out like Gangbusters, kicking ass and taking names.

(41:53):
And I've been sniffing rear end here for the last
couple of weeks, almost a month now, so much like
the Colts, I've got to reassess some things and pull
myself out of a Nosedive, two peas in a pod.
We are here. When Schuler's spreadability, you can find it.
Nema's Harvest Marketing Carmel. That's a great place. You can

(42:13):
get absolutely everything from original sharp cheddar, bacon and scheddar
at Jalapeno Pepper. Also Myer locations throughout the state of Indiana,
and Gordon's Food Service too. We talk about it all
the time, the elite level of snacking, the spreadability of
win Schulers. It is great on absolutely everything. When Schuler's spreadability, Yeah,

(42:34):
Indiana State's four and four, they get Eureka of Illinois,
the College of Ronald Reagan at seven o'clock at the
Holman Center. Later on tonight, Sycamores have lost too straight.
Pacers will loser the last night to Cleveland. They get
the Nuggets coming up tomorrow night. The Colt's making a

(42:58):
kicking change. We shall I'll follow that story as I'm
on here today. A little bit more about that coming
up as well, and your calls all right, if you're
on hold, I'm gonna get to you coming up next.
Two three, nine, ten, seventy Bullseye passes for that Big
ten Championship game. Pregame party coming up on Saturday. That's
coming up for you in the four o'clock hour, and
Danny Canell will give his breakdown to the matchup with

(43:20):
IU and Ohio State coming up at the five o'clock
hour as well. So zero reason why you should leave
stream the app BASD Radio Triple A Membership Lounge via
YouTube live A. Ninety three to five and one oh
seven five The.

Speaker 5 (43:31):
Fan, The Ride with JMV. I don't know what the
hell's in there. It's weird and pissed off whatever it is.
Ninety three to five and one oh seven five The Fan. Hey,
so Michael Badgley done with the Colts. They are looking
Maybe they've I'm assuming already found it. He don't like,

(43:54):
get rid of the guy and then still look right,
they've already found it. A new kicker coming up on
Sunday and a must win situation in Jacksonville to get
back on track. So do you expect this team to
get back on track? Or is this just.

Speaker 4 (44:13):
Going to be another incredible letdown? And honestly, this would
be the largest of the letdowns. This would be like
Luck not playing Luck quitting letdown wise Manning not playing
the entire year, which basically ended everything, and this is

(44:33):
where we are now. But you know what I mean,
because you start out great. If you were to fade
out of the picture here, this this would be some
to me unprecedented territory. And for those of you too

(44:57):
that say, hey, you know, they're eight and four and
everything is okay, when is the last time you've been
told with this group everything is okay and it's turned
out to be okay? When anybody keeping track, when's the
last time that those that say everything's going to be okay?

(45:19):
I'm not suggesting lose your mind, but I think it's
okay to have conversations about things that are going haywire
right now and not just sit back and go, well,
you know, they're still eight and four and everything is
going to be fine, Because when's the last time everything
was fine? Anybody have a memory of the last time

(45:43):
you fell? Oh yeah, everything's going to be just fine? Yeah,
right around? Never, everything was always fine during the Many era.
That's you know, up until it was with the NAG.
But still, that's okay to talk about something as significant

(46:08):
as this and made no mistake about it. You know,
I called this must win this past Sunday and they
screwed the pooch on that. This is like double secret
probation must win on Sunday when you look at the
remainder of the schedule and then really sinking not just

(46:34):
in the playoff picture, but within your own division and
going to a place where you haven't won since twenty
fourteen and a division you haven't won since twenty fourteen.
I mean, you have the opportunity, at least on Sunday
you can exercise a lot of demons that these guys
were not a part of somewhere. Most weren't. But for

(46:58):
those out there that suggest, hey, there's no reason to
be bombastic about this, everything's going to be okay. When's
the last time everything was okay? You've been told that
Seemingly it never works out that way right right the

(47:21):
new Ground. If it did, I'll say that Jam a
great take on Stiking a little bit earlier and needed
to adjust his formula in the chemistry lab. Football like
live is about adjustments, and we were talking to Stephen
Holder about that yesterday. And you know, my thought is
not just Stiking, but it's the offensive. It's really everybody
surrounding a quarterback that's simply not the same, and they're

(47:42):
trying to do the same and put the onus the
same on him. I still think he can be good
and certainly better than anything else they have, but you've
got to view him more in the category of mobile
is Flacco then you do what you saw in September.

(48:03):
In October of Daniel Jones. My thought, Davy, I think
Ohio State might be excited about the game because it
is IU and it is an indie. I think that
they're excited about playing someone different rather than Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin.

(48:24):
That's from Bratt. Listen. I mean, they have reputation and
they do have an overall one seed to protect. I mean, listen,
they weren't even a part of this a year ago.
We saw what happened, so they know they're Ohio State
and you can easily do it. But I mean, you've

(48:46):
laid claim to something. I would think you want to
maintain that. And for IU, I mean, this is just
one hell of a good time and uncharted territory. Sorry,
you know, even beyond us sitting around thinking, well, you know,

(49:08):
you got to prove it to them, and you've got
mister Peanut sitting around on ESPN and when it is
Monicole talking about how they don't belong and they're overrated,
and it's the Big ten and it's IU and it's
not the SEC.

Speaker 1 (49:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (49:21):
I'm not suggesting that you have to prove that to
anybody else, but it does I think work out motivationally speaking,
very well. Ohio State's fan base travel, they go any
place and there won't be a lot of Ohio State
fans here. How will IU Ohio State balance out? You think?

(49:44):
And that is an incredibly heavy price for a ticket.

Speaker 3 (49:52):
All right?

Speaker 4 (49:52):
Two three, nine, ten seventy is that number i'd mentioned.
We owe you guys some calls JJ. Bottom of the hour,
Danny Canell talks how you Ohio State coming up at
the five o'clock hour, and Mike's gonna lead us here
in the four Hello, Mike, how are you? Hello? Mike?

Speaker 1 (50:08):
Hello, Mike, I am here.

Speaker 4 (50:12):
I am ready for you to start yapping.

Speaker 1 (50:15):
Yes, uh, J and B.

Speaker 10 (50:17):
I'm just thinking and I just heard about you saying
they let Michael Badsley go far as the coach. I'm
thinking that maybe they ought to sign Justin Tucker.

Speaker 4 (50:28):
Justin Tucker. I did not hear that Justin Tucker was
a part of the workout process.

Speaker 10 (50:33):
So you got admit, though he's one, he been one
hell of a kicker until all that happened last.

Speaker 4 (50:41):
Yes, I've only heard like one or two dudes that
have directly been involved, had been reported to be involved
in these workouts, and uh, he was not a name
that that I have heard. I listen, it's gonna be tough.
It's gonna be tough to find anybody right now. But
clearly they think whatever they have presently is going to

(51:01):
be better than certainly what this this guy has provided
for them. And you know that third miss pat on Sunday,
Uh is going to end up being the difference in
him still being here. You know, I get it. So
I just think this, I guess overall, Mike, I think
they had to find somebody that they thoroughly trust more

(51:21):
than they do badgely to make the move right now
in the fashion and what they're doing. And I know
to us it may not seem like, you know, the
biggest of deals, but to them, you know, doing what
they do this time of the year, that's a that's
a pretty big deal for them to be making such
a move, especially now with your third kicker. You go
injury and you know, you go badgeally didn't work out

(51:45):
and now you're going to be working on your your
third kicker of the year. That's that's pretty heavy duty
for a team.

Speaker 2 (51:51):
Oh, definitely deflan on that one.

Speaker 4 (51:54):
What else you got, Mike, Well.

Speaker 10 (51:57):
I would also say, you know, I mean, I this.

Speaker 1 (52:00):
From afar, you know what I mean.

Speaker 10 (52:02):
Far be it for me to ever tell Shane steink
In anything about football, but this said what I've watched
over the last couple of years since he's been coach,
man that dude's got poor, poor clock management skill.

Speaker 4 (52:17):
Well part of the things.

Speaker 2 (52:18):
Yeah, would you agree with that one.

Speaker 4 (52:20):
Part of the things. And thank you for the call, Mike.
I appreciate it. Part of the reason why. And this
kind of just adds overall to the thought where people
are non believers in him actually being a high level
NFL coach because you get too wrapped up into certain
things and then other things are kind of flapping a

(52:41):
little bit. And really my focus and clock management. Clock
management against Kansas City I thought was problematic because of
play calling and even if Jonathan Taylor wasn't going to
be able to get yardage, even if they are and
they are. I mean, they're trying to stuff that and
they're putting the onus on Daniel Jones, who is certainly
a mobile right now, and that has been a problem.

(53:02):
But even if you do run it, I mean, you
either force you know, the clock to run or maybe
you get a yard here or there, and you know,
Kansas City feels compelled to try to use the time out,
burn a time out. At least you take some time away.
And part of this issue we have seen over recent
weeks with the Colts has been time of possession. They're
being deep pantsed in that category and you have to

(53:26):
be able to earn a little bit of that back.
And in large part, as we've talked about that is
that is coaching, that is clock management. As you bring
up that is offensive line play because they're being dominated
I mean Kansas City, Kansas City had the ball twice

(53:50):
as long. But that is something Rick venturiaon and I
have talked about this over the past couple of weeks.
That is a category that you have to try to
even out here moving forward, and certainly that aspect of
it is on the head coach without question. Aaron writes this, JV.

(54:10):
I hope you have a snow blow or snow machine
to help clear the snow. Ron de Vault, one of
my good friend neighbors comes over with the John Deere
and moves that out of the way, and I'm very
appreciative of that. I believe we've got about five inches
down in Martinsville. Nobody else get that much five inches JMB.

(54:40):
This would be a letdown like the Pacer team that
started awesome with Hibbard and those guys, and then the
last quarter of the season all the Andrew Bynham season.
Skivvyes is what you're talking about right there. The El Fodo.
I just think because of recent history with the Colts

(55:02):
and the highest levels of disappointment, this will be even
more impactful because here's what's gonna happen. Remember when I
said back at the end of last year that just
go ahead and get rid of everybody and start new.
That's exactly what everybody is going to say after this year.
If this thing fades, and then not only you're gonna

(55:24):
have people asking that, but if that ends up being
the Colt's path, then you could have saved yourself a
couple of first rounders and certainly an entire year of
time and effort, and I don't think that's the direction
they'll go, but that will be the highest levels of conversation.
This isn't gonna work. You're gonna go in a different direction.

(55:49):
You got to rebuild. Like the dude last night that said, hey,
they're gonna end up rebuilding and Daniel Jones isn't going
to be the quarterback. My take on Daniel Jones is
he has to be the quarterback. What are you rebuilding with?
Where are you going who are you going to bring in?
Who are you drafting with your non number ones? I

(56:11):
mean sure the general manager of the head coach. Even
Daniel Jones is he firmly at faultier with the injury.
I still think he's doing the best he can and
trying to play through this right now, he's just been
compromised for injury. But how in the world do you

(56:32):
start a rebuild? You may end up doing that organizationally
speaking or maybe coaching lage, but how do you start
that given what you're going to have to work with
and the makeup of your roster, your win now roster,
and then organizationally in a rebuild. That's weird, Actually, that's

(56:53):
beyond weird. Jay have a previous caller ask if you agree,
but you were already on Iran and never answered him.
What was I supposed to agree with here? I got
news for you here. It says, please stop talking over

(57:13):
your callers. I didn't talk over him. I thought he
was done. Now I'm not allowed to let a bunch
of dead air hang around here. What was I supposed
to let him add more on Justin Tucker? What the
hell else is there to add on Justin Tucker? See,
you're gonna piss me off. And I don't want to
be pissed off, but you're gonna piss me off here.

(57:37):
I don't guess I get that. Hey, let me add
more on Justin Tucker. No, he's not going to be
the next kicker. Okay, Can I move on now? Hey?
This is Joshua and I miss him dearly. Hello, Josh,
how are you, buddy good? I miss you dearly on

(57:59):
set night, Josh, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (58:04):
Yeah. I like Daniel Joes.

Speaker 5 (58:07):
He's doing his.

Speaker 2 (58:08):
Job as a quarterback.

Speaker 4 (58:10):
I think he is too.

Speaker 6 (58:12):
Yeah, you know, and they should let him do it
his job.

Speaker 4 (58:17):
They should protect him better so he can perform his
job at a higher level.

Speaker 1 (58:21):
Josh.

Speaker 2 (58:22):
They should protect him better though.

Speaker 1 (58:24):
He's doing a great job as a quarterback.

Speaker 4 (58:30):
I think he's been pretty good too, even through this injury,
and that's tough to deal with. Josh, are you missing
me on Saturday night? Buddy? Well, we've got like what
four more weeks or something like that. I miss you too.

Speaker 2 (58:43):
Yeah, thank you, all right.

Speaker 4 (58:44):
Josh, we'll talk to you again soon. That's Josh from
the JAMV takeover. He is a good dude. Did I
let him get everything out before I hung up on him?
I think he let him say it. I see this
Robbie James guy. I think we gave him something. I'm
gonna take that back. What I gave you pain in
my rear and you're talking over your guys. It was done.

(59:14):
It's funny. Oh I'm sorry. He said. You ask you
if you agree with Steichen's clock management being a problem.
I went into that to what else do you want
me to do? Yes, his clock management is a problem
and his play calling is a problem too. Then the
offensive line is a problem. Thank you, guys. Guys are wonderful.

(59:43):
By the way. Ten am coming up on Sunday morning.
That is the Colt's pregame huddle with me I mentioned
this too earlier in the week that tomorrow check that Thursday,
we're gonna be in Columbus. But Friday, I've never been
to Tiebreakers. Tie Breakers is a massive bud Light Blue Friday,

(01:00:05):
bud Light Blue Friday with Colts tickets. I'm assuming that's
for the Niners game, but we'll also mix in. I
think I've got some special guests, some former AU footballers
hopefully that are gonna be either on the show or
a part of the show too. So I can't wait
for that Tiebreakers on mass app. I've never been there,
and if you have, you can tell me what that

(01:00:25):
place is all about. JMV fifteen inches in northwest Illinois
since Saturday. That would bum me out incredibly. I think
we got five around here. Five's way like early December,
and five inches of snow around here is way damn
too much, easily, way damn too much. Duncan, there's gonna

(01:00:50):
rocket coming up next. Hello, Duncan, how are you, Jamie?

Speaker 6 (01:00:54):
How you doing?

Speaker 4 (01:00:55):
Is it like Duncan Pender Hughes? Is that who I'm
talking to you right now? About? That? Reference?

Speaker 6 (01:01:02):
Dunk May from Twitter.

Speaker 4 (01:01:04):
I believe Duncan Pinder Hughes. Was he not a kid
from kidd and Play and Class Act?

Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
I think, yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:01:11):
Are?

Speaker 6 (01:01:12):
I always get Mariano Duncan.

Speaker 4 (01:01:16):
Hey from the nineteen This is a true story, Duncan.
Mariono Duncan from that ninety team Wired to Wire was
one of my favorite Reds of all time, sneaky favorite
Reds of all time. Mariono Duncan.

Speaker 6 (01:01:28):
That's that nineties world serious team, right of the ninety.

Speaker 4 (01:01:31):
Team nineteen ninety Wire to Wire Mariono Duncan.

Speaker 1 (01:01:35):
Indeed, But all now, I just wanted to come in.

Speaker 6 (01:01:38):
Let you know, I work outside in the snow and
this Coles and I was a rough one today and
just now get before getting off port saying that we
waved the kicker kind of made my made my day.
That's a couple of ways have been rough it just
with Daniel juonkinting his leg injury. I mean, it feels
like the cast thing just happens around Indianapolis, like we
can't have nothing nice, just some kind somehow cap injury

(01:02:00):
always happens. But I know it's broke, But I just
want to get your take on who did they work out?
I'm sorry if I missed it.

Speaker 4 (01:02:08):
There was, and I may mispronounce his name, the only
guy that I saw, and I think Joel A. Erickson
had this at the Star. He was a former Saints kicker.
Is it Brett group or group? I don't even know
how to pronounce his name, so I don't. I really
haven't seen too many guys, at least to me, that
have been recognizable that they are they're working, recognizable for

(01:02:31):
us that they've been they've been working out, James, have
you seen any more other than the guy that Joel
was talking about? And I'm sure that there are more
guys that that we're aware of out there, but I
don't know anybody else. And I'm again I'm guessing with
this Duncan two that that somebody. I think it's beyond
just giving up on badgely because you just can't do

(01:02:54):
what he has done in seven games and missing three pats.
But I mean, you've had to lock in on somebody
that you absolutely believe in because a tough decision this
time of year.

Speaker 6 (01:03:08):
Toby's got his eyes on somebody we can get it
going again. But uh, that's that's all I was wondering.
I'll let you go real quick, and you tell everybody
got through back JV.

Speaker 8 (01:03:16):
We don't know what.

Speaker 4 (01:03:17):
Tell him then get off my back, man. I thanks
dunking up. Stay warm brother, Yeah, Brett GROOPI is who
I was talking. That was what Joel Erickson had in mind.
Thank you Duncan for that. That's outstanding. Yeah, young ho

(01:03:43):
ku last night, I've never seen that. I've never seen
a place kicker kicked that far in front of the ball.
I mean, seriously, I'm surprised you didn't get injured. And
the Jackson Dart on the sidelines reaction of what the

(01:04:05):
hell was classic two. I have never seen that. I
was like flipping around last night between that and Monday
Night football and I get the NBA pack as now.
So I'm watching a lot of these NBA games and
that's it.

Speaker 9 (01:04:23):
I'm surprised he didn't get the holder injured with how
big of a hit he took after.

Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
That, It's crazy. Yeah, Mike Chapel says one of the
kickers brought in for a try on, and this is
Blake Groupie is his name, and he suggests that is
a name you keep in mind. And for Duncan who
asked the question, Robbie, I get all about hurt easy,
don't I three years with the Saints, seventy five of

(01:04:51):
ninety four on field goal opportunities, that is, seventy seventy
nine eighty percent doing a round up eighty six of
eighty eight on pats. That is according to Mike Chapel
of CBS four and Fox fifty nine. Blake Groupie's who

(01:05:13):
Joel mentioned, and that's the stat line because Duncan wanted
to know, all right, quick break will come back. I
know Roger and Terry they're lurking. I know JJ is
going to be on here and Danny Canal is going
to join us coming up at the top of the hour.
So what does the outside world think about AU football?
The program and one v two coming up here on

(01:05:33):
Saturday night downtown Indy. The collision and whether or not
this comes down to Heisman is in Mendoza saying love
have something to do with it? Mendoza saying love That
sounds like a song I could come up with right there.

(01:05:56):
Quick Break will come back? Bullseye passes also on the
next fifteen if somebody kindly reminds me to do that too.

I'm not Julian saying, I'm just say say saying. Blake
Groupie has been signed to the practice squad by the Colts.
According to Garoppolo, Badgeley cuts Groupie in there's a history here.

(01:07:01):
Brian Mason, Colt special teams coordinator, coached him at Notre
Dame back in twenty twenty two. Of course, the Groupie
after they decided to wave badgely is in line to
kick in Jacksonville coming up this weekend. Blake Groupie and

(01:07:23):
the damn Straight. But it'd be how you pronounce his name,
because I am not going back it is it?

Speaker 11 (01:07:31):
You know me?

Speaker 4 (01:07:32):
Once I get a name pronunciation down, even if it's inaccurate,
That's where I'm going. Blake Groupie, is it? The's so

I am outstanding? How are you doing this Tuesday?

Speaker 3 (01:09:04):
Well?

Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
What are you upset about the snow?

Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:09:06):
Some guy was being pissy with me, so I was
pissy right back. Yeah, it's a it's a pissy duel,
and you know what they're there are never any There
are never any winners in a pissing.

Speaker 2 (01:09:17):
Match, not at all, not at all.

Speaker 4 (01:09:22):
Yeah, No, no crossing of swords or anything like that,
but yeah, never a winner there. Speaking of non winner
last night, I'm going to give it up to pass
Galciakam because you can since and how would you not
the frustration, But he just goes out there and he plays,

(01:09:44):
and with the season as they're going through right now,
I have such a high level of admiration for that.

Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:09:50):
I mean you thought you knew what you were getting
when you acquired him almost two years ago now, and
then you learned, uh, how special he is. And then
I think he's taken into another level over the last
couple of months. And that's just strictly what he's been
able to do both on the court in a scoring capacity,
much more than it was ever asked of him over

(01:10:12):
the last two seasons with the Pacers, but then, as
you said, really leading this team and maybe at one
point in his career he was a lead by example guy,
but he is leading by example and also with his
voice and also with his actions and some of these
times when they get into some ruts or some you know,
bad stretches of the game. It's Pascal Siakam who is

(01:10:33):
pulling them out of them out of those stretches. And
you know when he went to the bench without eight
minutes to play, I'm sure there was a scenario where
if they got it back to ten or eight, they
would have put it back in. But it was almost
it almost felt to me like you've done You've done
your job. You've done your duties tonight. You know, you're
probably gonna get us the night off. If we need you,
we'll call on you, but you cannot complain about anything

(01:10:55):
Pascal Siakam has done this season. And that's what I
kind of go to the arena every single night. I
look forward to watching Pascal Siakam among others. But I
mean he's the leader of the team.

Speaker 4 (01:11:07):
Yeah, And I think that's one thing you be a fan, right,
and hey, raw Ra, I'm a fan, but I just
have like basketball admiration for a dude that you kind
of understand the situation and it's almost like you see
the consequences and you got to live with it, but
you still go out there and play your ass off
and by the way Jed Jay is playing consistently different

(01:11:30):
than what he was used to playing and having that
success of a year ago. There is so much involved
in this where I have that high level of admiration
for what he's about.

Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
You know, I found myself having the conversation with Eddie
Gill over the first month or two of the season
about how this experience now could benefit some of the
younger players next season and when you get some of
these guys back. But actually, as crazy as it sounds,
thinks that this experience will help Pascal Siakam and it
will help those other players under stand then maybe he

(01:12:01):
was a little underutilized at times over the last two seasons,
and you see now what he is capable of. And
if you just add just one player, if you just
add Tyrese Haliburton to the mix right now, or even
to say, you know, drow Aaron Nesman back out there
and Obi topping off the bench, but if you just
add Tyreese Halliburton, think about how defenses won't be able to,

(01:12:24):
you know, make their whole game plan to stop Pascal
Siakam And if they do that, then how Tyreese will
find him? Yeah, and what he is going to be
capable of. I just hope that you know, through this
season he doesn't wear out and you don't put too
many miles on on on Pascal Siakam, So he's ready
to go fresh next season. And I'm not saying that

(01:12:44):
this season is over by any means, but with what
he's done right now, he is certainly he's moving up
the ladder pretty quickly. And I'm guessing a lot of
fans his favorite all time Pacers.

Speaker 4 (01:12:54):
Well, I mean, you could just see when he's out there.
Donald mcconnald didn't play in the second half last night
because of Carlisle concerns, but you can also see it
when he's out there. I am going to tell everybody.
You and I were having a text back and forth,
and there was a point during the game last night
where I think, I'll quote myself, I sent this to you,
I've seen enough of Garrison Matthews. And then he rattled

(01:13:16):
off like three consecutive threes, So maybe I haven't seen enough.

Speaker 2 (01:13:20):
Let the record stay. You initiated this text, I was respond.

Speaker 4 (01:13:24):
No, no, no, it was all me. I said, I
have seen enough of this guy. Because that was right
after I said that the Robinson Earle couldn't shoot a
lick so, which I think is still true, but it's
where Matthews ends up knocking down some shots and was,
you know, one of the dudes last night in a
game that I guess we were kind of searching for dudes.

Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
I can understand the way that game started, and it
just kind of felt to me like those first four
or five minutes. It's probably the only time this season
where the crowd wasn't really good. I probably attributed a
little bit to the weather and maybe a Monday night,
but there have been some other Monday night games with
great crowd, So the building just didn't have that juice.
And then the players didn't really do some of the

(01:14:07):
things that they normally do to get the crowd into
the game, and so the atmosphere just wasn't great. And
on the other end of the court, you had Cleveland
who'd lost three in a row, and Don and Mitchell
just made it his mission to make sure that did
not go to four. But with Garrison Matthews, you know,
he's a shooter, and I thought the quotes coming out
after the game where he talked with Pat Boyle, and
also you know, the article I read from Dustin de

(01:14:29):
Pierriic was it was spot on, and it makes sense.
You don't think about it when you're watching that he
had not been playing on any team and to jump
right in and not only try to understand the Pacer system,
but be expected to, you know, knock down all your
shots and granted he missed a lot of them early
takes a little bit of time. You see that from
some guys on the Pacers coming back from injury, how

(01:14:51):
it takes them, you know, seven to ten days to
really look like themselves. And so that's why it did
make sense to me. I know, you had an extra
two weeks of where you could have picked up another
player on a ten day rather than go get someone else.
How about the guy that's been here for a couple
of weeks and maybe he's underperformed a little bit for
what he's capable of, but you see a hot streak
coming and so for however long he's here, you know

(01:15:15):
he is a shooter and last night could be something
that helps him for at least the rest of this week,
and hopefully it works out for both him personally and
the Pacers.

Speaker 4 (01:15:24):
Certainly, the biggest difference was Donovan Mitchell, as you reference,
But there are a couple of moments in that game
when the Pacers were on a run, I'll headed down
to eight, maybe even six at one point, and Tyres
Proctor got a chance to reset off of some offensive
glass work which was incredibly robust, way too much for

(01:15:45):
the Pacers to be able to handle last night for
the Cavaliers on the glass, and I thought he knocked
down a couple of big threes in moments where the
Pacers look like they're about ready to get back into it.

Speaker 2 (01:15:55):
Ninety six ninety towards the end of the third quarter,
you thought, all right, well, the right there, despite really
not having a very good game, and he makes it
ninety nine to ninety three off of a second chance
opportunity that they got another free throw, and then all
of a sudden, they start the third quarter scoring the
first five or six points and kind of created too
much separation, so between Procter and Jalen Tyson. I mean

(01:16:17):
that guy I was very impressed with. He made all
the hustle plays, he created some of those second chance opportunities,
and I found myself looking at that Cleveland roster and
the eight or nine players that played, and they had
six rotation players not available. Obviously, they had Evan Mobley
and they had Donovan Mitchell, so you could argue they
had their two best players. But when those guys are back,

(01:16:40):
I feel like Tyson has earned significant playing time and
there are a lot of teams that would like to
have what he at least was able to show everyone
last night. And granted it was one of his best games,
so maybe it's not like that every time. I don't
see every Cleveland game, but I was pretty impressed with
what Jaln Tyson was.

Speaker 8 (01:16:57):
Able to do.

Speaker 4 (01:16:58):
We got to get a yoke sighting coming up tomorrow night,
and I saw the Nuggets losing in dow But the
Nuggets had a bad fourth quarter. Without question, Jokic had
another pretty big triple double. But it looks like they're
they're missing some dudes, and some of the dudes they're
counting on, like Jamal Murray didn't play that well last night.
Cam Johnson hadn't played really that well so far this season,

(01:17:20):
trying to find his role in his fifth there. But
Jokich is still the dude. And if there's one guy
that I want to go to a game and watch
which I'm going to be court side watching tomorrow night.
It is Nikola jokicch.

Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
I think it's worth the price of admission. Is the
way he does things you until you see it, And
it's taken me a couple of times, you know, not recently,
but way back when he started his career, where I
was a little bit disbelieving. You know, how is he
getting all these numbers? Is he really that good? Let
me tell you, he really is that good. The passes
he makes you don't see other players make, let's say,

(01:17:53):
with the exception of maybe Tyres Halliburton, and he's the
center and if you give him any space, scoring is
probably his third favorite thing to do. But if you
give him space, he's gonna knock down the shot. So
Rick Carlisle said this in some of our pregame interviews.
And he's someone that you know, he takes joy in
in the assists more than the points. And that's why

(01:18:14):
I reference to Tyr Talvern because he's similar in that area.
You ask about availability. Their injury report did just come
out and Jamal Murray's listed as question. Well, they will
not have Aaron Gordon. Jokic is on there, but he's
listed as probable, so by the letter of the law,
he's about a seventy five percent chance of playing. Most
of the time, when a player's listed as probable, you
do see them out there. So for your sake and
all those that want to see him in person, I

(01:18:36):
hope he plays. I hope the Pacers you get to
see him because it makes for a better challenge. You
want to see. You don't always want to see teams
come in and not have their best players, so they'll
be short handed. The Pacers, you know, are they're already shorthanded.
But if they have Yokich, then the Pacers have Siakam,
then you've got two stars going on it.

Speaker 4 (01:18:53):
Yeah, the Cam Johnson thing is weird so far, and
I've watched him in a number of games and he
just I mean, he is searching for a fit right
now in any level, not just consistency, but any level
of positivity. And you know when when you lose a game,
you score forty one in the first and then seventeen
and a fourth and in your best player, the best player. Arguably,

(01:19:15):
if there is an argument in the NBA, Jokicic goes
for twenty nine, twenty and sixty or twenty nine, twenty
and thirteen and you lose that game at home. That's
a rough one.

Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
It was crazy night in the NBA because that happened,
and you do want to tip your cap two Ryan Nemhart,
I'm not sure.

Speaker 4 (01:19:32):
Did I saw that he had twenty nine for Dallas
in that one last night?

Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
Yeah, and on a two way contract, undrafted, so you
feel really good for him. He didn't even play in
the Pacers game against Dallas. So what I do hope
is when Indiana plays Dallas at gamebridge Field House with
the DeMar brothers will have a chance to go at
each other. But did you also see the Wizards beating
the box? So you know every one of the every
once in a while you have I watch that NBA.

Speaker 4 (01:19:57):
I definitely watch it. There's nobody more checked out right
now than the honest in the NBA. He is completely
checked out with that group.

Speaker 2 (01:20:08):
Well, he'd been heard, so he checked back in about it.

Speaker 4 (01:20:11):
He's checked out on the floor game. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
Did you see that he deleted some social media posts?
I wouldn't even know how to go back and delete everything,
but yeah, it sounds like he removed some bucks from
his timeline.

Speaker 4 (01:20:24):
Yeah, I've said this before. The former thirty three here
is going to end up playing alongside Karl Anthony Towns
and Miles McBride up there next year, maybe even sooner
than that, if we're not careful here, because uh yeah,
there's there's not I don't think much intent for him
to stay there longer than what he will. All right,

(01:20:46):
j JY, I'm going to see you tomorrow night. I'm
going to see some Iokich and and the pacers playing
hard in our guy Passcalciakham tomorrow night.

Speaker 2 (01:20:55):
I look forward to seeing you and hopefully the concession
stands at Gambridge Field House. I've cottage cheese for you.

the Laane Kiffin situation. I say, I say this, you
get another reason why Scott Dolson was genius not to

(01:23:20):
jack around. And if you have a guy, you want
did a guy and keep him and not have to
mess around with that. Not suggesting that Kurt Signetti would
act like that TOWRP. But but you save yourself all
the crap. You can concentrate on what matters football, as
we'll talk about coming up at the top of the

(01:23:42):
hour and the Big Ten title game. Not gonna be
messing around. You imagine having to deal with that like
you're old miss and you're gonna go into the playoff
and hey, great, can you imagine? Can you imagine that
there are him out there that actually felt that he

(01:24:02):
should be coaching Ole Miss what he just got hired
by LSU. So with that, then hell, I should just
be on every radio station in Indianapolis. What the hell?
Why not? Can I be on every radio station in Indianapolis?
Or do I have this stupid ass non compete?

Speaker 9 (01:24:20):
Still I think he might have a non compete. I
don't know your contract though, so.

Speaker 4 (01:24:24):
Did Lynn Kiffin have a non compete? I think I'm
just gonna be on every radio station in Indy. Why not, Nah,
he's a pain. Scott Dolson handled that perfectly even if
it wouldn't turn out like that. And we'll have more

(01:24:45):
on IU Ohio State and Danny canew is going to
join us sit tight for that on the other side,
and more Bullseye passes to give away as well. Ninety
three five, one seven five Fan.

Speaker 5 (01:24:56):
The Ride with JMV.

Speaker 4 (01:24:59):
Why the wide world as sportses are going on here?

Speaker 5 (01:25:02):
Ninety three to five and one oh seven five Fans.

Speaker 4 (01:25:06):

fighting Irish kicker who was a kicker when Brian Mason,
the Colts special teams coordinator, was in South Bend. He
is your new kicker. He's added to the practice squad,

(01:26:08):
according to Mike Garruffalo, and we'll be watching that dude,
hopefully make something and not miss pats coming up on
Sunday in Jacksonville in the must How should I put this?
The mustice of the must wins for the Colts coming
up on Sunday, a place they haven't won since twenty fourteen,
a division they haven't won since twenty fourteen. It's about

(01:26:31):
damn time something changed. New kicker. Back to that in
a second, but on the Andy Moore Automotive Group potline.
He's a former collegiate quarterback, former NFL quarterback. Friend of
the show. You can find him a variety of places
and especially with betonline, dot ag, updated college football playoff,

(01:26:53):
Heisman Conference Championship lines and more. And we'll be rocking
that with Danni Canell, who joins now again on the
Andy More Automative Group pileline. Hello, Danny, how are you?

Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
What's going on?

Speaker 12 (01:27:04):
I am fantastic, I am headed your way on Thursday,
come up for the Yeah, we'll be up there for
the Big Ten Championship game. I'm covering it with CBS Sports.
We're sending a crew. I'll be on set with Cardlee Jones,
former Ohio quarterback Jenny Dell, who does a great job
as a sideline reporter for CBS's Big Ten package. So yeah, man,

(01:27:24):
I'm fired up. Wait, Dan, I'm gonna have to bring
a parka dah.

Speaker 2 (01:27:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:27:28):
Well, yeah, the weather, the weather is taking an unfortunate turn. However,
tie breakers on mass f on what are you doing
on Friday afternoon? I can say tiebreakers. I've got the
refreshments for you, Danny, right, I may not have much,
but I've got the adult refreshments for everybody.

Speaker 12 (01:27:50):
All right, have your producer text me, text me your
info and I'll.

Speaker 4 (01:27:53):
Tell you yeata man, well we would, we would absolutely
love to see you. So we'll go ahead and I'll
tell you what. Let's start with the Heisman race. How
do you have it right now? And how might some
of these performances here on the inbound end up affecting
that race.

Speaker 12 (01:28:11):
I think that's probably the biggest thing at stake in
this game, is the Heisman trophy because win or lose,
both teams advancing. Sure, maybe there's a buy on the
line if it gets sideways one or the other, but
I think the Heisman Trophy is probably gonna be won
or lost in this game. Now there is a chance

(01:28:31):
because as much as people have talked about Ohio States defense,
no one's really talking about Indiana's defense, who has been unbelievable,
the second and scoring in the country. If let's say
Fernando Mendozi and Julian Saying go head to head and
it's more of a defensive battle and it's a seventeen
to fourteen game, they kind of don't do much. Diego
Pave is just lurking now. He's sitting in the clubhouse

(01:28:54):
right he doesn't have to play anymore, and he's already
booked a ten game season, and he's been phenomenal for Vanderbilt.
He's taking that place, you know, that programmed place as
it hasn't been. I think he could steal it. But
I really, I've been saying for a months that I
think the winner is going to come from the Big
Ten Championship game. I do think one of those quarterbacks
and I loved I mean I'm selfish. I'd love to

(01:29:14):
see him both go toe to toe and make it
even harder on Heisman voters see him have a great
back and forth type game. But I do think that
the Heisman Trophy is probably one in this game.

Speaker 4 (01:29:25):
Deddy Canell of CBS. And of course, as I mentioned
a little bit earlier, you can find out the stuff
you need to know better online dot ag. They're updating
the college football playoff Heisman Conference championship lines as well
as it stands. I think minus five and a half
that is Ohio State. And we know about what happened
in Columbus a year ago in November to IU and

(01:29:45):
that road test against the Buckeyes, how things might or
certainly for IU from their angle, need to change coming
up on Saturday night in that championship game.

Speaker 12 (01:29:57):
You know, it's funny. I was talking to Kirk Signetti
probably in early October, I mean I think it was
before they played Oregon, and I just asked them a
question similar like what needs to be different? What did
you learn from playing against Ohio State last year and
Notre Dame in the playoffs? And he goes simple, he goes,
we need more dudes. I mean that was his answer,

(01:30:19):
and they went out and got them. Like, this is
a different roster that is upgraded. This team is better
across the board as it's in its entirety. So I
think that's the big thing that's different about this year
is Indiana is a better football team, and I think
that's great news. And I think they you know, they
they've kind of people again have kind of taken shots
about their schedule, but the win in Eugene, I think

(01:30:41):
has looked better and better as the season has gone on,
because I think Oregon is a really good football team
and Indiana went in there and dominated that game physically,
Like that was a thing that jumped out to me.
So I don't think there'll be any question of if
they have the dudes that can go toe to toe
with Ohio State. And with that being like in Ohio
State has probably the best roster in the country, Indiana

(01:31:01):
is not that far behind. Sure, they don't have the
star power of Jeremiah Smith and Caleb Downs, two guys
are probably going to go, you know, in the top
ten of the draft whenever they're draft eligible. Because Jeremiah
Smith can't even come out now and Carnel Tate is
an incredible wide receiver. But I mean, I've seen what
the Indiana can do. You know, Omar Cooper stepped up
when the logesst Surat since he's been hurt, Lijas Sourat.

(01:31:23):
If he's health he's as good as anybody in the country.
They've got an offensive line that's been upgraded. So I
do think this Indiana team is just a better football
team across the board.

Speaker 4 (01:31:33):
And you mentioned that krit Signetti told you in October
that they needed better dudes have And to me, I
think it's easily the offensive line and the voice of
the Hoosiers. Don Fisher's a friend of mine. He told
me doing the summertime. Hey, the thing you're going to
notice the most is what you're going to see on
the defensive and the offensive lines in an upgrade, maybe
to a point of physicality that we've never seen with

(01:31:55):
an IU football program. But for you, where has that
dude upgrade been most noticeable this season?

Speaker 12 (01:32:03):
Oh, I think it's very clear it's the offensive and
defensive line. When you look at the offensive line alone,
you know they went out and got Pat Coogan, the
center from Notre Dame, and they got Khalil Benson. They
went out and got some guys in the portal to
help lift it up. They got a defensive end and
Stephen Daily, you know, they've got some weapons there to
add in, and they got more depth. That's the thing
that probably jumps out, and that's really the difference because

(01:32:26):
there's a lot of teams, like everybody's got a even
at Indiana and you know, really since Kirkston that he's
gotten there, everybody has four stars and five stars. It's
just how many of them do you have? And even
then it's like everybody has three stars that are backups,
but how many do you have so that when you
start getting injuries or you start getting into that the
grind of the season, when it's week twelve or it's
the Big Ten championship game, that you can roll deeper

(01:32:49):
and that your backup comes in to give your starter
a rest. And it's not that much of a difference.
It's not a huge drop off. That's I think in general.
It is just the depth on the offensive and defensive
line for Indiana where they're that much deeper, and by
the way, they're that much more physical.

Speaker 4 (01:33:04):
Danny Kanell if CBS and bet Online Dot A G
He's joining us On and Andy Moore atomutive group potline. Who's
been most impressive to you this season from a Heisman angle?
Has it been Mendoza or has it been Saying?

Speaker 12 (01:33:19):
So, I think they're both awesome, and I don't I'll
just be honest with you. I don't love Diego Pavia's antics.
Like I would prefer my quarterback to handle himself the
way that Fernando and Julian Saying handle themselves. But I,
you know, watching Vanderbilt and how much he has to
put the team on his back, there's a really strong
case that he's the best quarterback, the best most valuable

(01:33:41):
player in college football. But I do think like this
is a massive upgrade. And that was the one thing
because I was pretty familiar with Fernando Mendoza's game at Cal.
You know, I've watched him a lot last year, saw
what he did on a pretty bad football team, saw
his escapability, and knew he would bring leadership. So I
thought they were gonna get a significant upgrade. They have,
and he's operated close to flawless for most of the season,

(01:34:04):
and then I think Julian Saying has been like I
was very skeptical for a guy that's a freshman. Granted
he's a red shirt, he was there last year, but
for him to step in and complete in almost eighty
percent of his passes, and even with the weapons, even
against you know, lesser competition when they're two touchdown favorites,
to complete eighty percent in you know, over the course

(01:34:25):
of an entire season, there's a lot of guys and
I kids do not there's a lot of starters that
wouldn't be able to do that in seven on seven drills.
To do that in competition is just outstanding. And I
thought he really and both of them see that's and
that's I've really been impressed with both of them. I
think this is going down to the wire because I
was impressed with Mendoza. Like you always want to see
how a quarterback does when he's faced with adversity, and

(01:34:49):
I thought what he what he was facing against Penn State.
The entire game, he was not having his best game.
He was getting a lot of pressure, and even on
the last drive of the game. You remember, sure you do,
the way it started off was a sack. You know,
his face was second and twenty two and he just
steps up and boom right down the field and the
drive and the throws not only the last one, but

(01:35:10):
several of the throws were big time throws. I was like, oh,
you know, you've got a guy, and I really haven't
seen that from Julian saying, although I will say for
what he did last week, he kind of had his
little bit of adversity when he threw a pick early
in the game against Michigan, and all of a sudden,
the crowd's enthusiastic, and I was very curious to see
how he responded, and he responded in a big way.

(01:35:31):
I mean, he had three touchdowns over all the game.
That was really his own mistake. But I still do
feel better about Mendoza because he's been in more adverse situations.
More when you look up at the scoreboard, it's like, man,
we need to drive. And whether those were at Cow
or Indiana this year, I feel more confident and yet
Julian saying, there's no reason to doubt him, but he

(01:35:52):
really hasn't been in that position where he's been trailing
in the second half. So I'm very very curious if
Indiana can do that, if they can make him on
and even in the fourth quarter, if it's a fourth
quarter game that can impact you a little bit differently.
Every window gets a little bit tighter, there's that much
more pressure, and mistakes are magnified. That's the one thing
I'm very curious to see about Julian saying, but I

(01:36:12):
feel very good about Mendoza bouncing back no matter what
the situation is.

Speaker 4 (01:36:16):
He is Danny Cannell with us on the Andy Moore
Automotive Group potline. There have been many to question whether
or not having a championship game does really either one
of these two teams in general any good in terms
of losing. Certainly, now it may be old hats in
the past to Ohio State because the hell they didn't

(01:36:39):
even make it a year ago and still we saw
what they did. But for Indiana and it's fan base,
this is absolutely a level of incredible that they have
never seen. So I'm maintain that is still important. But
do you have an argument for this maybe working against
either team in this case and and the overall usefulness

(01:37:02):
of this championship game situation maybe not being what the
fan base here is excited about seeing coming up on
Saturday night.

Speaker 12 (01:37:10):
I think conference championships in general have been completely diminished
now there is some you know, there's some value in them,
especially if you're the Big twelve and your BYU.

Speaker 4 (01:37:22):
You win, you're in.

Speaker 12 (01:37:23):
If you don't, you're out the ACC.

Speaker 4 (01:37:25):
You know, I don't.

Speaker 12 (01:37:27):
I really hope it's not Duke, And they have to
look at a seven and five team looking at the
playoffs and probably on the outside in and then the
ACC might not get a team in. But clearly it's
big for Virginia and Duke they have to win. But
the SEC and Big ten, I just don't. They don't
bring any value whatsoever. And I am old school, like I.
I liked you and I appreciate it. That was always
one of our goals that Florida State was to win

(01:37:49):
the ACC. But I've never I have four ACC Championship rings.
I've never really bragged about them. But I love talking
about my national championship, like that's the one that resonates.
I work with the Ian Harris. He played at Alabama,
and he was trying to say, oh, the SEC championships
they matter to SEC players, They're just different. And I
asked him, I'm like, I've never heard you talk. I

(01:38:09):
asked him, I said, who did you beat in your
SEC championships. He couldn't even remember, but he can remember
who he beat in his three national title games. You know.
It's just it's different from a perspective. And then now
with the playoffs, it really it just doesn't fit in
our playoff system. It really doesn't bring you any benefit. Now,
I do think it'd be an amazing accomplishment, and I

(01:38:29):
don't want to diminish that. If Indiana wins this Big
Ten and they're the Big Ten champion, that is unbelievable.
But I still think Kirk Signetti and this fan base
and these players, they want to win a national championship.

Speaker 4 (01:38:39):
You know.

Speaker 12 (01:38:40):
I think that's the end goal. That's that's what everybody
plays for. And Indiana's elevated to a place where that's
their goal as well. So I look at it. I'm
just I wonder where I think we're They're probably going
to go extinct within five years, and they're going to
figure out a playoff system where this weekend is really
a first round of the playoff game, and I think

(01:39:00):
that'll be a better system. Because I'm used to watching
sports like NFL and NBA and Professional Babe MLB when
once postseason play starts it's when in advance lose and
go home, and it's just weird to lose and not
have to go home, and like where does that do
to your psyche? And really, in football, which is such

(01:39:21):
a dangerous game, you know, there's nothing really good that
can come out of it, especially if you've secured your spot.
There's only injuries that can happen. So I just think
that we're in this weird spot right now with all
these issues college football is facing. That's just one of many.

Speaker 4 (01:39:35):
It's weird too because when you think about it, then
if this turns into like a weekend of playoff games,
then these playoff teams are going to be done before
the bowl season even gets either way, which is really
awkward too.

Speaker 12 (01:39:48):
Yeah, the ball system I think is going to have
to be retweaked too, And you know, I guess you
could look at it where it's similar to the basketball
where there's the NIIT tournament, and maybe that's what the
Bulls turn into is sort of and that's kind of
always what they have been. Its still a reward for
teams that win seven or eight games and don't make
the playoff. But we still have that now, you know
where and we saw that in the four team playoff
where you'd have a couple of games after the first

(01:40:10):
first round of the first four teams playing in the semifinals.
It still feels weird and I don't think it. It
doesn't make much sense. But that's the that's the beautifully
flawed system that we're working with.

Speaker 4 (01:40:20):
Yeah, it is Danny knelf CBS, there's no doubt about that.
And bet online dot ag that's got the latest in
college football playoff, Heisman and conference championship lines. And speaking
of the playoffs, you mentioned the win in your end
mentality BYU is going to be set with coming up
as well? What what what do you think is ultimately
going to be the odd team out in the playoff

(01:40:43):
scenario here?

Speaker 12 (01:40:44):
So tonight is actually the first ranking besides the first
one when you're kind of curious of where is the
committee going to have all these teams adjusted tonight because
I've been bored the last two Tuesdays. I've been kind
of bored, like there's nothing really that was going to
change tonight. I think you're gonna learn a lot and
I think the debate between Miami and Notre Dame is
going to be interesting. What do we learn today did

(01:41:06):
Miami potentially jump Notre Dame? Does that get them in there?
And I think there's some teams that are really in
a dicey spot because of the BYU situation and because
the ACC situation, Like it's just like if you see
Duke Win. I do think that opens up the door
for James Madison potentially be a second group of hot team,
which is nuts, and I don't think they should get in.

(01:41:28):
I'd rather them say, you know what, We're gonna take
a fifth, you know, SEC team or a fourth or
fifth Big ten team as opposed to those teams. It
might sound elite US, but the group of five is
a different level. It's just a different level. That's why
we call it something different. But I do think BYU,
if BYU wins, that could put potentially Alabama in trouble

(01:41:50):
if they lose the SEC championship game, it could put
Notre Dame in trouble if they're right on the bubble,
and that could bump them out. I mean BYU is
the ultimate bid steeler that we could see happen. And
then I do wonder what the committee does if Georgia
against Bama. If Georgia wins big, and I'll say big,
it's like seventeen to twenty one points. I think Alabama's

(01:42:11):
playoff spot is very much in jeopardy. And then you'll
hear the clamoring from Greg Thankee, Sam, why are we
playing these SEC championship games if there's if one of
our teams that was in is going to get left out?
But I do think Alabama is in jeopardy, especially if
BYU knocks off Texas Tech and then you have two
big twelve teams.

Speaker 4 (01:42:28):
Yeah, it's funny about that, And moving on to the
whole coaching thing, and obviously the Lane Kiffin saga took
over college football over the weekend, and yeah, it's more.

Speaker 12 (01:42:39):
For a month.

Speaker 4 (01:42:40):
Yeah, it's more for a month. Yeah, it's more funny
than anything I think. But I think it magnifies to
me what Scott Dolson the IUAD did in side stepping
any controversy whatsoever. In a lot of people question how
much money and what they did to invest in Kurt Signetti,
But clearly, in the college football landscape, certainly now that

(01:43:02):
was the right move to make what's best for your
team now and certainly unprecedented territory what should be what
is best for your program for the future. I think
that decision earlier this season is even more magnified with
this stink and soap opera. As you mentioned, we had
to deal with with Ole Miss and LSU and Laneykiff

(01:43:23):
in the last month.

Speaker 12 (01:43:25):
Yeah, it's it's nuts. The college football economy makes no
sense whatsoever. I'm going to read you a quote from
Louisiana's governor that he and that he made after they
fried Brian Kelly. He said, we are not going down
a failed path. The guy that's here now that wrote
that contract cost Texas A and M, you know, seventy

(01:43:46):
some million dollars right now, he's got a fifty three
million dollar liability. We are not doing that again. They
just did it again. Yeah, they just They just paid
Lane Kiff in ninety million dollars. It's probably all fully guaranteed.
If it doesn't work out in four years, they're gonna
be sitting on forty million dollars. They're gonna have to
pay him to fire him. And I just the football

(01:44:07):
economy makes no sense. And love I think Kirk Signetti
is a great coach, but even at the time, I
was like, you know, this is any program ever gonna say,
you know what, We're not gonna make that mistake. And
again this is not a knock on Kirk Sinnetti. I
said the same thing about Rhet Lashley and Matt Rule.
By the way, I wonder how Nebraska fans since Matt Rule,

(01:44:28):
you know, got his extension and they kept him and
secured him at Nebraska so that he wouldn't leave the
Penn State. They're two and two, they haven't been very good,
and now they're quarterbacks thinking about leaving, like they could
already be regretting the extension they gave Matt Rule. It's
just at some point I do wonder if any athletic
director or administration across the country, it's like, we're not
falling for it. We'll go find another coach. If you

(01:44:49):
want to leave, go ahead. But yet they're all terrified
because if Kirk Signetti would have left the Penn State,
I'm glad he didn't. I'm glad he stayed and he
would have won a national championship to Penn State in
year one. Indiana fans who live it like, what are
we doing? Why do we let them go? So I
understand it, but it is just such an it's like
it's funny money, you know, it really is. It's just
like monopoly money that's just being spent.

Speaker 4 (01:45:11):
Well it is too, but you have to I think
now try and you're watching all miss protect your assets
as much as possible. And I think with IU in terms,
this is such new territory that I don't know what
else you would do, And certainly in this new landscape.

(01:45:32):
You mentioned the economic landscape of college athletics in general here,
but the new landscape to where you can be like
you and I've called them the infiltrator. I mean, like
old school programs don't like it, but you can be
I you and be sustainable now because of the economic
situation that's going on and the transfer portal if you

(01:45:53):
have a formula that clearly in the past two years,
like Kurt Signetti works. So I don't know what else
you do do you other than do what you did
and have to sidestep a lot of the controversy that
others may end up having to deal with.

Speaker 12 (01:46:07):
Right, and I love the fact that Indiana's good now
and Vanderbilt's good now. I mean all people wanted for
the past fifteen years was can we get somebody else
besides Alabama, Georgia, Clemson or Ohio State, you know, and
then occasionally get an LSU. But like there were really
a small group of teams that could win a national championship.

(01:46:28):
And now that everyone's been on a level playing field,
and everyone who was doing things the right way and
wasn't paying the players and was really you know, trying
to play, you know, having student athletes. Now that everyone,
if they want to, can invest, and now we've seen
what happens. Like Indiana's relevant and they're not going away.
Vanderbilt is relevant. They just signed a five star quarterback

(01:46:49):
that they flipped from Georgia. Like they've gotten a little
taste of it. Now their boosters are kicking in last
year was Arizona State and SMU. I think it's great
for the sport because now you've got a whole you know,
how many more fan bases have hope and optimism that
feel like if, man, if those teams can do it,
we can too. But I do think it takes a
special coach like Kirk Signetti and a lot of financial backing,

(01:47:12):
a commitment that Indiana has made to the Hoosier football program.
That is a big reason why they're where they are,
why they are where they are, and why they're not
going anywhere.

Speaker 4 (01:47:20):
Yeah, and it also has repercussions for every other program,
especially the upstarts, the up and comers, who think that
they can get there by similar measures, and and they're
all out there to try this now. So it's yep,
it is incredible. It's uh Denny Canal again. CBS bet online,
dot a G for the latest in college football playoff odds,

(01:47:41):
the Heisman odds, the conference championship lines and more for

We're more than welcome to join us on Friday. We
would love to have you a lot of conversation and
adult refreshments that we all enjoy.

Speaker 8 (01:47:59):
I love it.

Speaker 12 (01:48:00):
I'm going to try to come by. I know, I
got a couple interviews. I'm supposed to get Kurt signatty
on Friday, but out a round work, man. I'll come
out there as soon as I'm done.

Speaker 4 (01:48:08):
You can decompress with us at Tiebreakers on Friday. I
love it. Thank you, thank you, Danny, appreciate it. You
got it, Danny, Canell on the Andy Moore Automative Group Highline. Yeah,
get him out the tie Breakers with all of us
coming up on Friday. So would you be surprised if
I told you not that the Colts did some work

(01:48:29):
on Maddix Trail but also kick the tires on Justin Tucker,
which was ask of me a little bit earlier. What
if I told you they did? Would you buy it?
The Colts have a new kicker, It's Blake Groupe. But

(01:48:52):
who else did they try out? We'll get to that
coming up on the other side. Your calls on the
other side the rest of the way, and a busy
rest of the way week starting in studio tomorrow, but
then on the road in Columbus, we're gonna be at
the Garage, Grill and Pub coming up with Larceny, bourbon
Locks and Lunas Wilt tequila shots on Thursday and tie
Breakers on mass av That is a bud Light Blue

(01:49:14):
Friday with lots of guests and an incredible level of fun.
Really both times. I cannot wait to see you guys
out with us. The stream of the app HD Radio
Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube live, your calls and
your text line messages coming up with Naughty three five
and one oh seven five The Fan, The Ride.

Speaker 5 (01:49:35):
With jmv Son, You got a panty on your head,
you drop fast ninety three five and one oh seven
five The Fan.

Speaker 4 (01:49:49):
Danny Canell the CBS little bit earlier. Hopefully it joins
us on Friday too. It's Tiebreakers on mass av i'd
I believe Friday. That is a destination for you and
I coming up on Friday, Columbus, Indiana on Thursday, Largity,
Bourbon Locks, Lunezuela, tequila shots, Me, Bryn Halverson, the Garage

(01:50:12):
Pub and Grill. Anybody been to the Garage Pub and Grill?
And by the way, I've been to neither.

Speaker 3 (01:50:18):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:50:18):
Chris tells me via text that they have some great
burgers at Tiebreakers. He's been there. I've not been to
tie Breakers nor the Garage in Columbus, and I cannot
wait to break in brand new locations and a shout
out to Spencer Thompson. I know of Thompson Furniture down

(01:50:38):
in Columbus. Who's going to join us as well. I
think Matt from Triple A is going to be there.
We're going to have a lot of you with us
in Columbus on Thursday. Cannot wait for that, So Blake Grippy,
that's who the Colt signed to the practice squad. He
will kick coming up on Sunday. Michael Badsley was waived

(01:50:59):
of the bit earlier. Mike Garofo has mentioned that evidently, no,
I take that back. It's just Tom Pelasaro's report that
evidently before they selected Groupie, the Colts also worked out

(01:51:22):
Justin Tucker, but decided to go a different direction. In
case you're wondering, by the way, to shout out to
Jlaw with the wind Shueler's spread ability in snack chips
admire and speaking of Meyer, Shane says, Bloomington's too far

(01:51:45):
south from Meyer. I believe it was a Meyer location
right in Evansville or a good friend Gritty calls home.
So not too far south. JMV. I think JT needs
twenty five pl touches a game no matter what these
last five games. If we're going to go out sorry

(01:52:09):
on the season, I'd rather end it feeding JT. Shane
also needs to find other ways to get into ball now.
They did try to throw in the ball and he
dropped to pass. This past Sunday. But I get what
you're saying, and I also get the fact that the
defense they are now not only blitzing an injured quarterback,

(01:52:31):
but the thing I think they need to do more
than anything. You've got to take some shots down the field.
And that means you're going to have to pass pro
better against a shore's hell blitz than what we have seen.

(01:52:52):
I just I think that with what you're talking about,
I understand Shane absolutely. And then not having Daniel Jones
be what he was in September, He's just not And
you're gonna say, well, Daniel Jones is, you know, not
a guy that gets the ball down. But you can

(01:53:13):
utilize Alec Pierce, who clearly has been your best wide
receiver right now. You have to try to open things
up more than what you have. Thank you Shane for that. Meantime,
two three, nine, ten seventy is the number Jaylaw is
on hold. Right here. Jylaw had the wind Shooler's snack chip.

(01:53:36):
He found the spreadability and the snack ability of Mayer. Hello, Jlaw, Yeah, yeah,
it's all those Last night, it seems like they have
a lot left. They have a lot left, are they not?
Sweeping Central Indiana. So far, it looks like that they
had a pretty large amount where they're kind of they're
not next to the cheese spread, maybe any relocating closer.

Speaker 8 (01:53:56):
What are they?

Speaker 4 (01:53:56):
What are they next to? Is it at high level
or are they down there by your They're on the
end of an aisle.

Speaker 1 (01:54:02):
I got you.

Speaker 4 (01:54:02):
Oh that's yeah, that's showcasing the wind shoeler snack chips
right there. I got you.

Speaker 3 (01:54:08):
But hey, I will be there Friday. My UH college
man for UH lives in Texas is coming up to
the game, so we'll meet you down a tiebreakers.

Speaker 4 (01:54:16):
Well, I'm expecting either. I'm expecting Matt Surfis. We've got
to signal out to him. And then a good friend
Mike Poe, who has good friends with the Jones family.
That's Isaiah Jones of IU. His dad, DJ Jones is
a former buck Eye, and we're supposed to be at
least on the phone joined by him and maybe get
both father and son on the program. Interesting story right

(01:54:41):
with those two. So we'll see what happens coming up
on Friday. But that's the expectation to at least get
the dad, who's going to be an interesting situation to
maybe show up and we must may just get everybody,
you know, I find it interesting once you offer either
bourbon or beer, then everybody comes out of the woodwork.
I'm there, Yes, Jay Long.

Speaker 3 (01:55:02):
What else you got, brothers, Well, a couple of things
going back to the Colts game. Do you think the
NFL rules Committee will consider like a play clock like
the nbahads the shot clock where the light go off,
I'm on the goal post, Well, you have a light
up or.

Speaker 4 (01:55:21):
Something anything, anything has to work better because it's commonplace
where they go a click or two past zero and
let the play just kind of go. And I would agree.
I mean, if you're going to be hardcore on, be
hardcore on you talk about the goal post. I mean,
I'm surely you have technology now where you can figure

(01:55:42):
out whether or not a point after attempt or a
field goal is good or no good? Right? It just
I mean, you get you just utilize technology in a
lot of ways and other ways you don't. It's kind
of weird.

Speaker 3 (01:55:53):
Yeah, it's just not a good look. So many bizarre calls.

Speaker 4 (01:55:57):
Well, I mean, and really, when you want to get
down to it, I didn't put much of an emphasis
on it. Yesterday, Jay Law. But when you want to
get down to it, I mean, you do the math
and you can pretty easily find out that that was costly.
And the Colts tried to win that game. There's no
doubt the Coles. You know, the pass interfence was just

(01:56:17):
jackass at the highest level. I mean, those were costly
in terms of of them losing that game, even though
you know I didn't concentrate on that yesterday. You can't
get past it if you simply do the math.

Speaker 3 (01:56:31):
And lastly, one of the biggest thrills I'm having with
the football season at IU, besides the victories, it's just
been a joy all around.

Speaker 4 (01:56:40):
But the shots. I thought you were going to say,
the shot ski that's.

Speaker 3 (01:56:43):
All that's been getting to work out. I'm going to
try a fair way to get it downtown on Saturday.
Yeah uh, but it's just, you know, just everybody can
joining themselves and stuff. But on the conversely, how all
the big schools had been there before having an issue
with it?

Speaker 8 (01:57:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:57:01):
Great, the arrogance, it's awesome.

Speaker 4 (01:57:04):
It's Oh, I don't know if anybody out there, and
I know I have before, if you've ever crashed a
party and then you know, when you crash the party
kind of became the life of the party. That's cool
as hell.

Speaker 3 (01:57:14):
So yeah, I've been doing every minute of it.

Speaker 4 (01:57:17):
Yeah, you didn't originally get invited, but you know that
everybody else after that's glad that you you showed up.
This is kind of yep. That's why you know, I've
referenced them as the infiltrators with what is, you know,
the the old school, the grandfathered in football programs out there.
It's it's a great thing and you know, it's something
you can utilize now with you know and under Danny

(01:57:39):
Cannell was talking about the economics of college athletics and
college football here, which are mind numbing right now. But
if you want a winning program, I mean you obviously
have to make really good, sharp decisions. But if you
have the financial backing, which clearly they do down in Bloomington,
you know, why not you in unprecedented territory right here,
which is awesome.

Speaker 3 (01:57:59):
Yeah, I mean, winning has his consequences. We saw an
increase in ticket prices this year in the quote donation
fee expected, and I expect another one next year, quite.

Speaker 4 (01:58:07):
Honestly, And losing has consequences too. Because I mean, you look,
you look what everybody expects. Now, I give you a
great example in that bucket game with with Barry Otem.
I went and watched I shouldn't say watched, but looked
in social media. And I know this is not you know,
speaking for the entire fan base at Purdue, but you know,
you got a lot of non believers there because you know,

(01:58:29):
not only did they not do what you know, a
guy like Signetty did in your number one, but I mean,
the hell they they barely got better than what you
had with Ryan Walters right there. So there are a
lot of non believers in everything right now that football
program is doing. Which conversely, you look at the basketball
program and everybody is a believer of what Matt Painter does.
So it's everybody trying to get on the same page,

(01:58:50):
which you know, again that's what Darren de Freese is
trying to do with the basketball program in match. You know,
everybody getting excited about the football program. A lot lot
going on on, certainly in college athletics. But we got
both ends of the dynamic going here in West Lafaietta
and Bloomington and.

Speaker 3 (01:59:06):
The energy that Debris has versus Woodson has been night
and day.

Speaker 2 (01:59:11):
Yeah, I mean it's a good change.

Speaker 12 (01:59:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:59:14):
Well, and then I mean you look at you know,
the offense they run now and the and the movement
they had compared to the standing around of the stuff
with with with really the last eight years with head
coaches there. I mean, hopefully they can continue that. And
then you get a little Louisville are you Louisville and basketball?
Are you? Aha? State Big Ten title game? Downtown's going

(01:59:36):
to be something Saturday.

Speaker 3 (01:59:38):
It'll be fun, all right?

Speaker 4 (01:59:39):
Anything else? My brothers, no, I will see you Friday.

Speaker 8 (01:59:43):
Got it.

Speaker 4 (01:59:43):
Appreciate you, Jlaw with the spread, Billy? Do I need
to break through? Am I cool?

Speaker 1 (01:59:50):
Well?

Speaker 4 (01:59:50):
I'm cool. James says we're cool, Anthony. Because James says
we're cool, You're up next, Go ahead, J ANDB.

Speaker 1 (01:59:58):
What's going on?

Speaker 4 (01:59:59):
What's happening in your world?

Speaker 12 (02:00:00):
You know?

Speaker 1 (02:00:01):
Just living the dream out here doing a little side
hustle of store dashes.

Speaker 4 (02:00:04):
Yeah, hey man, how's how's our good friend doing? After
a month later, after h yeah, this the situation with
with Sanchez over there?

Speaker 1 (02:00:14):
Back to normal.

Speaker 4 (02:00:15):
I just I got it, I got it. I got it.

Speaker 1 (02:00:19):
Drinking as much as I used to John, I get
up to Scott's bar as often as I was.

Speaker 4 (02:00:25):
I got a message from him. This goes back about
a month now, right after that, because he heard either
about or heard at the time you and I, you know,
talking about him.

Speaker 1 (02:00:36):
I did tell him. I did tell him that I
reached out.

Speaker 4 (02:00:39):
Yeah, it was. It was pretty cool of him to
do that.

Speaker 1 (02:00:42):
That guy you cut off earlier, L O L. What
a jackass that told you not to cut people off anythink?

Speaker 4 (02:00:47):
Yeah, I think it was the guy. It was just
a random guy. And how I think I gave him
some free stuff too random.

Speaker 1 (02:00:55):
He was the guy that you supposedly, I'm just kidding,
did cut off. He was onto something. But in all reality,
that's like the third or fourth major issue I have
with stiking. You can hire somebody to manage the clock,
but you did. It's just the same thing every week.
Like the one decent play that we did have was

(02:01:18):
just you know, a bomb of Piers, which in all reality,
if you go back and look at it, I don't
know why he said didn't challenge it. This goes back
to the bad officiated. It looked like that ball was
moving when Piers hit the ground, So I don't know
if he survives the ground. They called it a touchdown.
Great for us. We still lose the game. But his
fake accountability with stiking away, he picks and chooses. You know,

(02:01:39):
when Taylor fumbles the ball through the end zon he
plays next week when and I does it, he's cut traded.
He had hundred yards yesterday for the jet. But I'm
not saying we shouldn't have made a trade for Sauce Gardner.
I'm just saying, maybe look some of these defensive linemen
in the line and say, why the hell can't you
get past these guys, or maybe look some of these
offensive linemen in the face and say why can't we

(02:02:01):
we do anything? Quarterback? And you know what, it's it's
kind of maddening because here we are cutting a kicker
for missing an extra point when in all reality, like
that's that's not the grant and the big issue, the
big issue is he won't figure out ways to get

(02:02:22):
the ball to Taylor. He's got nothing creative to get
his best player of the ball. It's the same three
runs with Taylor every time there's Daniel Jones can't move.
And if he can't move, I hate to say this,
because me and you both know the result of what's
gonna happen. But if Daniel Jones can't move in the pocket,
we need to seriously contemplate getting Richardson in his face

(02:02:45):
back on the field. I know, but what are what
are the other options? You know what I mean? Like
you're just gonna sit here and and and do the
same thing.

Speaker 4 (02:02:57):
They're gonna sink or swim in this situation. I think
that Anthony, I think it's more on the guys around
him than this is about Jones. I think that where
you can make him maybe not what he was in September,
because he's not going to be with the lack of mobility.
But I just think with arm, talent and talent around him,

(02:03:19):
he should be consistently better. And I think a lot
of the route of that cause is those, especially those
in front of him in this case.

Speaker 1 (02:03:28):
Well, and again, those teams we were playing in the
beginning of the year, you and I both know are
not good. We were close with the Rams. They lost
yesterday to Carolina, So that should just go to show
you that anybody in the NFL can beat anybody on
any given day. Like I know, Carolina's better, but they're
still a crap team and they beat the Rams at
home yesterday. So the Coats beating Lebron goes, Yeah, that's great,

(02:03:52):
but it was on some fluky stuff, right, Like, let's
take a step back and realize, like we traded two
number ones for Sauce Gardner, who unfortunately got hurt, and
I get it. We were trying to do the thing,
but like in the grand scheme of things, you could
have the best secondary in the league, which we might have,
and it still just does to show you if you
can't get to the quarterback, they're eventually going to get

(02:04:13):
beat downfield. There's nothing they can do about the wide
receivers always going to have the advantage when the quarterbacks
got fifteen seconds to throw the ball.

Speaker 4 (02:04:20):
Yeah, that's that's problematic.

Speaker 1 (02:04:22):
Yeah, they should have even have got a Max Crosby
or something. I know we're throwing out names.

Speaker 4 (02:04:27):
Well hey, I'm serious, like Anthony Randy rand Randy is
going to be pissy at me, but I do have
to hit a break here, so I am going to
have to go my apologies to you.

Speaker 1 (02:04:37):
Let me ask you what I think really quickly. What
if anybody hurd on that extra point? Because that dude
missed it.

Speaker 4 (02:04:43):
Yeah, yeah, let me know. Yeah, thank you man, Scott
it Anthony, thank you, Randy. I'm sorry I got a
little buttter early about Randy saying I cut somebody off.
But I do have to cut somebody off because we
are on a clock right here, and I have to go.
Butler coming up a little bit after six. It's Mark
and Nick on the call right here on the fan,

(02:05:04):
Eastern Michigan and the dogs from Hinkle. Got a little
time between now and then to get to you at
two three nine ten seventy. Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 5 (02:05:15):
The ride with JMV.

Speaker 4 (02:05:17):
We have the Holy Handerdade.

Speaker 1 (02:05:19):
Yes, of course, the Holy hand Grenade of Antioch right
one two.

Speaker 4 (02:05:24):
Five, who the three.

Speaker 5 (02:05:27):
Ninety three five and one oh seven five the fan.

Speaker 4 (02:05:32):
Win Shuler spreadability for everybody. Let's all have win Shulers.
Let's all celebrate with a tub of incredible snack and
cheese tonight. Why shouldn't you name its Harvest Market. Meyer
Locations also has the snack Crackers, the showcase shelf right
there on the aisle. You're Meyer Location, your favorite Meyer

(02:05:55):
throughout the state of Indiana. And Gordon's Food Service Spreadability
Win Shooler's elite level snacking. Make sure you're telling him
I sent you. Yeah, I know Randy from Greenwood that
is not you as a different Randy a little bit earlier.
That climbed up my rear end about cutting somebody off,
and as you well know, I cannot side stup my
high level of butt herdedness. I can't do it. I

(02:06:25):
have butt chafing going on right now. Because of that.
Jared's going to Hinkle later on tonight the Eastern Michigan Butler.
In fact, Hinkle is going to come not only through
this studio and Foxworthy's here, but also going out over
the airwave ninety three to five and one oh seven

(02:06:46):
five the fan Mark and nick Yippi appinaccia with Butler conversation.
We gotta get Bizjack on this show too. I think
the Morning Show, the Morning Show has that on. I
probably should get fat on. At some point somebody over
there asked that if he wants to come on, or
if he's just said, you know, what the hell with
JMV in the afternoon, I just want to do the

(02:07:08):
morning show, which evidently Rick Carlyle has done. I'm feeling
very unloved around here. And by the way, Rick Carlyle
on with the Fellas this morning too. Pacier's a loser
last night to Cleveland. It is Nicola Jokich who has
been enlisted as probable tomorrow night, which means he should play.

(02:07:31):
And the Nuggets coming off a seventeen point fourth quarter.
I don't know if you watched them last night. They
were at home against the Mavericks. They put up forty
one in the first quarter, seventeen in the fourth, a
massive twenty nine, twenty and thirteen triple double for Jokic,
but got little help from anybody else. Cam Johnson is

(02:07:55):
like trying to find his way in a dark room
where he has no idea what the hell's going going on.
He has not been I thought that he was going
to be a nice fit there. He has not been
a nice fit there. Nuggets pacers later on tonight, and
I do have to give a bit of an apology.
Even though I sent this to JJ last night, I said,

(02:08:17):
you know what, I have seen enough of Garrison Matthews.
I'm done. And then he goes out and knocks down
a bunch of threes. So maybe I should just do
that for the entire Pacer. I should say that about pacers.
Is there anybody on the colts where you would like
me to say, Hey, I've seen enough so they'll play better. Anybody,

(02:08:40):
where do we start? You know, I've seen enough of
the right side of the offensive line. I've seen enough
of you, Bordolini, Mooney, I've seen enough of you, mooney. Oh,
here's two lot too, pay, I've seen enough of you. Guys.

Speaker 9 (02:09:00):
You just took the words out of my mouth.

Speaker 4 (02:09:02):
I'm gonna start that and see if we can make
that a trend. Guys where I say that I've seen
enough of now? I will also tell you that watching
Robinson Earl take jump shots hurts my eyeballs. I feel
bad because he is energetic dude, but he can't hit

(02:09:24):
squat when he pulls a jump shot. Just go God, damvy,
please ask Oh you got a little something for Saint

(02:09:48):
Francis here? Huh, thank you? A resident from Massachusetts right there,
appreciate it?

Speaker 8 (02:09:56):
All right?

Speaker 4 (02:09:56):
Anybody else you want me to add to I've seen
enough of so they'll go from bad to good in
a big hurry. We'll do that coming up. We got
six o'clock here, or who do I got on here?
All right? Larry and TJ on the other side too,
and whomever else wants to call two, three, nine, ten
seventy eight extra minutes we do before Eastern Michigan Butler
with Nick and Mark coming up here to the YIPI

(02:10:18):
ap and for you, that's after six o'clock. We got
an extra eight minutes for you, So sit tight. Triple
A Membership Lounge YouTube Blode ninety three five, one oh
seven five The Fan, The Ride with JMV.

Speaker 1 (02:10:31):
Excuse me, Robo, any special message for all the kids
watching it home?

Speaker 5 (02:10:35):
Don't you stay out of trouble? Ninety three to five
and one oh seven five The Fan.

Speaker 4 (02:10:43):
I can't remember if I said, Michael Badgeley, I'm kind
of sick of watching you. My quote last night for
Garrison Matthews doing the pacer again before he unleashed a
number of mad jumpers, most of which from distance, I

(02:11:07):
had said, I think I'm over Garrison Matthews. So I
believe we have found we have found some karma. So
you tell me who I need to be over to
turn to bad to good. Simply by that I was

(02:11:28):
over Michael Badgeley and the Colts made a move. They
waive they're now former kicker, and they signed Blake Groupie,
Maddox Trario, and even Justin Tucker. You remember, back in
the day, how many Fantasy Football league coaches, general managers,

(02:11:54):
whatever had their team called Yippie kai a Justin Tucker.

Speaker 9 (02:12:01):
I never knew that was the thing.

Speaker 4 (02:12:03):
Yeah, well, yippie kay you know, Oh yeah, die Hard,
die Hard obviously Yippie kay a Justin Tucker. Justin Tucker
apparently had the proverbial tires kicked here, Groupie, what's the
guy that's gonna kick coming up on Sunday? Corey Hall says,

(02:12:24):
how about we've had enough of Quitty Pay. There you go, Hey,
Quitty Pay, We've had enough of you lot too, We've
had enough of you. Yeah, just let me know. I'll
see if I can help out in that capacity anyway,

(02:12:46):
shape or form. I saw this a little bit earlier.
The Steelers and Darius Slay mutually agreed to part ways,
so Drew Rosenhaus and Robert rep.

Speaker 1 (02:13:04):
A.

Speaker 4 (02:13:04):
Sleigh still wants to play, and certainly, even after beating
about a month ago the Colts in Pittsburgh, things since
that point in time, I've absolutely unraveled for the Steelers,
and that's normally what Aaron Rodgers. That's the Aaron Rodgers effect.
He comes to your team and it unravels. Had enough

(02:13:29):
of like that, two, three, nine, ten, seventy. I like
that too. We got to like eight after before we
head out the Hinklefield House with Mark and Nick for
Butler hoops. TJ is gonna go next. Hello, TJ? How
are you hey?

Speaker 2 (02:13:42):
Doing all right? J?

Speaker 10 (02:13:43):
ANDB?

Speaker 8 (02:13:43):
How are you?

Speaker 4 (02:13:44):
Hello? TJ? Outstanding? Thank you for the call.

Speaker 13 (02:13:47):
Hey, it was nice Minya sids that one time.

Speaker 4 (02:13:50):
You were up there, TJ. It was outstanding. You know
how much I love Sid's on the square at Noblesville.
I cannot wait to get back.

Speaker 13 (02:13:57):
All right, We'll have a drink ry for you.

Speaker 4 (02:13:59):
Got brother.

Speaker 13 (02:14:00):
Hey, I'm sick of everybody on the offense not catching
the gostanin ball.

Speaker 4 (02:14:06):
Yes, I've had enough of everybody but Alec Pierce.

Speaker 13 (02:14:11):
Yeah, Gowns had a critical third down. I mean, he's
done really well, but in pressure situations when we need it,
it seems like they're not They're not doing it.

Speaker 4 (02:14:24):
Yeah, yep, I can uh. There's a lot of things
they have to come together on this because it is
it has been discombobulated offensively really beyond compare it was.
And I know, I know a lot of that had
to do with the Houston Texans defense is legit. I mean,
that's what they lean on. It is legit. But yeah, yeah,

(02:14:47):
you expect even with the injury to Jones, I just
I start with the offensive line and how much better
they have to look, how much more they have to protect,
how much more support they have to give compared to
what they have recently for a guy that is gota
it out with that fibula injury out there.

Speaker 13 (02:15:03):
Yeah, I know that he's getting that pressure, so he's
releasing a little bit faster.

Speaker 4 (02:15:07):
But yeah, well he's got the mobility of Joe Flackell
right now, which is problematic certainly. But hey, TJ, anything else, No,
I appreciate it and talk to you. You got a TJ.
Thank you very much. Shout out the Sids on the
square in Noblesville. I've had enough of this. Colt's look
here recently too. Larry's next.

Speaker 11 (02:15:26):
Hello, Larry, Hey JMB, I've had enough reward between his
past defense and his tackling forget about it. But the
main reason I'm calling I've noticed last three games Atlanta,
the Casey and now Houston Jones keeps doing the same

(02:15:46):
snap count, the hard count, another hard count, and then
the ball. It's like the defense knows what he's doing
and they come after him. It seems like we switched
that up a little bit. He might have some luck.

Speaker 4 (02:15:58):
I don't know he Hey, Larry, thank you for the call.
I haven't noticed that as much as I just simply
noticed that everybody now is just hardcore after him. Not
everybody knows, and you have to take countermeasures if you're
saying Stych and the Colts, and I didn't see much
of that on Sunday. Hey, if you're on hold, we'll

(02:16:19):
get to you coming up on tomorrow show. I promise
you that great job out of you. James, Danny Canal,
