Speaker 9 (03:32):
Sipty by Seattle final score today on the ruop Mortgage scoreboard,
it's Seattle eighteen at the Indianapolis Colts sixteen.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Matt Taylor, Charles R. Buckalo, the Colts Radio network. That's
how it sounded yesterday. And close does not count, and
we know that, and especially with the team that's lost
four straight, a team that had such a tremendous start
that now is eight and six and on the verse
of completely falling out and having to do some major

(04:05):
incredible things here in the final three to get into
the postseason. Simply put, that's not how it's supposed to be.
I get the situation that you're in, but I know
Colts fans, this doesn't make you feel any better. I'm
not gonna sit here and tell you for the next
three hours it should make you feel any better. There

(04:27):
are moments yesterday when you thought, all right, and I'm
not necessarily at all talking about Philip Rivers. I'm talking
about an offense and a defense that they've been major
parts of the slide and the issue, and both lines
played much better defensively. In the secondary. You had moments

(04:51):
from Edwards Tire Franklin gave you a couple of moments
I even wipe my eyes, and there was actually quarterback
pressure and stuff like that. Now, the offensive line was
doing some work, I mean, as best they could to
protect more than likely the most immobile human being that

(05:15):
may have ever played that position in the NFL yesterday.
And I'm not going to sit here and bag on
Philip Rivers all day. But the problem remains at that position,
you have to be a threat downfield and Seattle simply
as Jake and I were talking about in the Crossover
Brought to you by Love, hitting an air they simply
adjusted and really scaled things down. You had two plays

(05:40):
what over fifteen yards and one was that sixteen yard
or that kept that final drive, not the drive where
rivers through the hail Mary and it was caught and
the game is over. But what led to the groupie
sixty yard field goal? I can't imagine a coach and
I guess you have to do you say you feel comfortable.

(06:02):
I can't imagine a coach that not once but twice
this year has played for sixty plus yard field goals
and it's actually worked out. It didn't work out yesterday
in the end because you had a bad kickoff of
the defense. I'll let them go right down the field
what thirty seconds or less? That simply put, it can't happen.

(06:24):
And what I'm trying to tell you is when your
quarterback is not able to do what that position describes,
and one is go down the field, when you have
to box yourself into the category like that, you have

(06:44):
to be as good. I'm not going to suggest being perfect,
because Seattle wasn't good enough yesterday for you to have
to be perfect. Seattle wasn't good enough yesterday where they
should have been beaten if you could do anything down
the field, any type of threat, anything that would take
that defense of the Seahawks out of their comfort zone

(07:07):
more than once, then you had a serious opportunity, or
maybe even better than that. From sixty yards, you knocked
that thing home, You get a decent kick, which they didn't,
You play some decent d which you had done throughout
the game, and then for whatever reason, when lou Anroumo
went company, you just let them go down the field

(07:29):
that their leisure had felt maybe not at their leisure,
but it went down the field as quickly as possible.
So when everybody tells me, and they did this morning
and last night, that hey, that was feel good a
forty four year old guy, and yeah, for a forty
four year old guy that hasn't played in five years,

(07:50):
you will take He did not completely cost you the game,
like he didn't throw away three times or give it
away a couple of different times. But he was unfortunately
costly in a different manner because he does not allow
you to do what needs to be done, and he

(08:11):
doesn't allow you to be you, which at this point
in time is probably not the greatest way to describe it.
But he doesn't allow you to be that, and I
like him. I wanted a story to end better. There
were moments when I thought the story was going to
end better. But the problem that you have now, if

(08:33):
you're Shane Steichen and you're this group, is that you've
kind of emptied the container. How else do you go
out and try to play this now against the defense
that is going to have this week up until Monday
night to prepare for a team. And as we witnessed,
how much is going to be able to change here?

(08:56):
So in the battery of people last night, they were
sending me things, most commonly because you did not learn
until today about Anthony Richardson, you know, being cleared medically
for his return. I don't really know what that means.
I would guess since he was the backup quarterback, that
that means when he's medically cleared at some point later

(09:19):
on this week, he's going to be deemed ready to play.
But so many people last night had talked about Riley Leonard,
and Riley Leonard could have saved him. I don't know
if Riley Leonard would have saved them, but and I
don't know much more of a threat down the field
he might be but you have to have now, certainly

(09:40):
against the Niners, more offensively than was provided with that
quarterback yesterday, even in the field good And I'm not
at all trying to blame that game on him. That
game came down to moments, came down to moments and
and then a late game possession to where if you

(10:03):
could get a stop. And believe me, that defense had
been surprisingly good the entire way. The offensive line to
protect Philip Rivers would take a lot. I'm going to
tell you this, Jalen Travis. They found their right tackle
for me of the future. That's one thing that I believe.
I know you're going off of one game, and you're right,

(10:25):
but I didn't have a problem with him at right
tackle whatsoever anybody else, And I don't know about you guys,
With all due respect to Bernard Ryman, I didn't really
notice when Tanuda came in. Now, I will tell you
it seemed like the offensive line had a pretty good

(10:45):
grasp the entirety of the game. So they're just simply
playing well, I guess as a unit. You know, Bortolini
had a couple of moments where the door was open
and the outcome wasn't good. But you would have won

(11:06):
that game if there were a couple of different if
you had the challenge, if the Seahawks secondary had to
play this with any thought in their mind that you
could get something going down the field, then maybe another touchdown.
Because the Colts did hang in, and the Colts did

(11:29):
do some things that they had not done even when
Daniel Jones was compromising. Actually, prior to this thing is
being an ongoing fade going all the way back to Pittsburgh.
So it's not all of a sudden now, all crap,
the injuries and this is all coming unraveled. No, no, no,

(11:50):
it was unraveling before the injuries. It was unraveling before
your quarterback was done for the season. I thought yesterday
there are moments between the offense and the defense and
what Shane Steichen was doing. Did anybody else find themselves
in a situation wondering why you couldn't have handled that

(12:14):
against lesser defenses, mind you, but you couldn't have handled
that a little bit differently when Daniel Jones was out there.
And I'm sure ultimately at some point in time the
Achilles was going to give out. But anybody else find
themselves wondering why you couldn't handle that just a little
bit differently when Daniel Jones was there, maybe something could

(12:40):
have been different. Yeah, unfortunately it was an interesting game.
They kept themselves in it. But for this team, as
I mentioned once again, that is not enough. This is
a team that's gone for it. This is a team
and I I'm sick and tired of these analogies like

(13:01):
you guys are sick and tired of these analogies. Pushed
all the chips in. So when you say I get
this all the time, well they should tank and be done.
What are you tanking? They've won eight games? The hell
are you talking about? And really, what you tried to
do yesterday is what you need to try to do

(13:21):
in these final three games. And you weren't worthy of
it yesterday. But what I'm talking about is you try
to find a way to get it done by whatever
means necessary. So last night, when I'm answering questions, and
people are mostly pissy after games like that, and you

(13:44):
know the way that it is, if you offer up
in an opinion, you're going to have probably ninety percent
agree with you, and then ten percent are going to say, well,
all you are would be a hater and you're a jackass,
and you get all that stuff because I had mentioned,
and this was my thought even before Shane stuff came
out today and reaffirmed that Philip Rivers was going to

(14:04):
be the starter against the Niners on Monday night, because
all along you knew that was going to be the case.
So in my little tiny brain, I cobbled together an
idea last night. And I know that this is Johnny

(14:25):
High school crap, but we live in the world of
Johnny High School crap. Like we're mired in Johnny High School.
What the hell does it matter? It wouldn't have mattered
if forty four year old Philip Rivers would have won
in Seattle yesterday, So why the hell you're searching for
any way to be positive, any way to win by

(14:49):
any means necessary. I don't care if it's Rivers or
Richardson or Riley Leonard or Brett Rippon or Tyler One
or Matt Taylor or our Buckle or Casey Value or
my dumbass, It doesn't matter because you are neck deep
with this team in it right now. There is not

(15:11):
any waving of the white flag, and hey, let's trade
for this guy. Let's go out and do that and
draft that. No, this is your guy. You look, you
show a team picture, and a lot of these dudes
on it are going to be the same dudes that
are a part of it next year, with a quarterback
that you're going to bring back that's going to be rehabbing,

(15:32):
with two quarterbacks that are still under contract, and that
a forty four year old quarterback that's going to go
back and coach high school football and Fair Hope, Alabama.
That's how that's going to look next year. That's what
we've talked about. And a lot of you get mad
and you shake your fist like I had to. I
just shouldn't say get into it. That's the wrong thing
to say, because I'm far from wanting to get into

(15:53):
it with anybody. But everybody wants to bring up the
whole dynamic of stich In and of Ballard. And somebody
had just simply asked me, so do you think they're
back next year? Now this is not My opinion is
that they are. My thought has been for a while

(16:15):
that it's time to reset. The problem that you have
is when you did what you did at the trade deadline,
When somebody says you got to tear it down to
the studs. How do you do that? Because this is
not just a year to turn around, not just two
years to turn around. I mean it is going to

(16:36):
add even more service time to what we have witnessed
in the past nine or for the most part, in
the past nine. So when you ask me right now,
if I believe both general manager and head coach will return,
I do because my thought was back at the trade
deadline when the general manager was allowed to do that

(17:00):
with the two first rounders for Sauce Gardener, that that
stamped the approval that this regime was going to return. Now,
I will leave this open for debate. If you lose out, say,
for example, you know all the goodwill is sucked out

(17:21):
of the room at Looming Field yesterday in Seattle, and
this thing goes completely even more embarrassingly down the toilet,
then you know, maybe you go, all right, I'm done
with it, just because we can't move on now. This
is so terrible. You can't. I just don't think you're
going to get to that point because you still have
We saw this yesterday. You still have dudes fighting, and

(17:43):
I realized that that doesn't make you guys feel announce better,
nobody feels better. You're not going to pat anybody on
the back for a moral victory. You want a real victory.
But when it was brought to my attention about well
you got to get rid of Rivers and Rivers can't
be I'm thinking, well, wait a minute, He's not to
come up here and start for one game. You realize that,
don't you. He's going to be the starter next week. Well,

(18:04):
you know, Riley Leonard can do this, and you know
what if richardson his back and I'd rather have this guy. Oh,
Rivers is going to be the guy. And he is
capable of doing some things. He is incapable of doing
everything that is necessary, and he is really going to
be incapable against a team that has had a week
long opportunity to zero in and to watch tape and

(18:27):
then to see in reality a week prior what he
cannot do and what the Colts situationally don't want to
put him into and the Niners are going to release
the hounds. So my thought was for all those out there,

(18:49):
and I know this sounds stupid, and it is at
the highest level of futility, and it's not like I'm
doing a brain dance over this at all. But my
thought was multi quarterback. I don't know how else this
is going to be satisfied unless you all of a

(19:10):
sudden believe that it was offensively it was Shane Steichen
and the play calling that was holding back Philip Rivers.
It didn't look like that he wanted to heave it
down the field very often, very much. You have such
a weapon. And Alec Pierce, which you know outside of
that drive sustainer, was put out the pasture yesterday and

(19:39):
I want to double back to say, by whatever means necessary,
and I know well that means if he said one
guy out and bring the other guy in. They know
what's coming, well, they do, and they don't, right Shane
obviously and the Colts, obviously, their brass believe in the
Rivers decision making. So how do you put the decision

(20:02):
making in those that either have not been in that
decision making space in the past or have not proven
that they can make those decisions in the past, which
you're going to have a couple maybe. I guess if
Richardson will follow the whole Richardson thme this week and
see if that becomes any sort of reality because I

(20:25):
got news for you. Unless he's disgruntled, well they're disgruntled,
or everybody's disgruntled. He's under contract. He's going to be
back next year. Why wouldn't he be back next year?
Rightley Leonard's going to be back next year. Here, the
odd man out in the equation next year is Philip Rivers.
But you have a head coach that is going to
be resigned. To start him coming up on Monday night,

(20:45):
you got to throw something at him that they're not
ready for, because let me tell you this, the Niners
are going to be set and ready for what the
Colts have to offer coming up on Monday. You know,
I'm not trying to describe them as the nineteen seventy
Steelers and the Steel Curtain, but I mean, anybody can
see that it was so vanilla the Colts offensively, and

(21:09):
I know because you had to do it with Philip
Rivers coming back. But it was not because well he
just doesn't understand the offense. Part of the reason why
they brought him back was because he had a full
grasp of the offense.

Speaker 12 (21:25):
You know.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
The rationale behind treating the offense the way that they
did yesterday was because the forty four year old, like
we all do, he has limitations, and against that Seahawks defense,
they were ripe. That team was ripe to be beaten yesterday.

(21:46):
And if there were a shot or two down the
field that could have worked, even the thread of it
to take those guys off their mark. You know, maybe
it works out differently, but again, that whole game plan
now is going to be exercised and consumed by the
forty nine ers. So to me, you're gonna throw something

(22:08):
else at them. No, I hate the idea too. I
don't like it. I hate the fact that I'm saying it.
But I don't know how to satisfy a lot of
you out there that don't believe in rivers and then
satisfy the fact that if you're Shane styk And and
this Colts team, you have to understand that you are
so limited offensively right now, and you have a team
that's going to see this now for a week and
be dialed in, and the Niners still firmly entrenched in

(22:30):
playing for something significant that is going to be a
mammoth struggle. You are still out there to try to
win the game, and frankly, I don't think anybody cares
at this point how it looks. Would it have mattered
to you yesterday if the Colts were to have beaten
a Seahawks team on five field or a Seahawks team

(22:53):
that had connected on five field goals, of course they
hit six and then won the game. Now it wouldn't
have mattered at all. Would it still have mattered? Would
you still have noticed the limitations of the Colts offensively
even if they would have won. Sure you would. Hopefully
you're that savvy, because that's something you have to notice.

(23:19):
And you know, now's not the time I think to
just well, we're gonna go ahead and lean on this
guy because I trust him, lean on anybody. I know
it sounds incredibly stupid. I just don't know how else
you're going to find at all any way to be
able to get it down the field.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
I was.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
There were a couple of times I just wanted to
see Rivers throw it up to see if Alec Pierce
could go get it. You just do this for now.
They just scared to crap out of me right there. Wait,
wait a minute, new studios here, talk back in my ear?
Can people hear you when you hit that? Talkback?

Speaker 13 (23:58):
Not when they hit that one. I have an individual
product I turn.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
I wonder, and this is James in a different studio
for me right now. I wonder if I have my
headphones turned up so loud because I'm deaf, if they
can hear you through.

Speaker 5 (24:09):
My headphones, that's possibility.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
It is right there. Hey, shout out too. I'm going
to get back to a lot of this too, and
we have time for your call. Stephen Holder is going
to join us at ESPN on the five o'clock hour,
but more than ready willing and able to talk with
you about this. If you think I'm crazy, that's okay.
But I am ready to find any solution whatsoever because
I don't want to see this in this way either,

(24:31):
and I'm not going to sit here and tell you
I want to see it in this way because this
may be a quicker path to get rid of those
organizationally and a head coach you want to get rid of.
I want to see a postseason game, and I know
that it's going to take a wing and a prayer.
But in the final three, what the hell you might
as well. I know you're going to say you were

(24:51):
entertained yesterday, but there's rarely anything that is entertaining out
of losing. All right, a lot more of Jonathan Taylor.
Jonathan Taylor rushed the ball twenty five times. He was
a three and a half yard clip. He had a
long of eleven, so while he got yards, it's not

(25:18):
like that that incredibly worked. I mean, it's funny. I
thought a Myra Abdula played incredibly well. Then you look
at his stat line and there really isn't a lot there.
Just you have to have more. You have to add
a layer or two of at least a threat that
you don't have, you didn't have yesterday and certainly not

(25:41):
likely to have coming up on Monday night. Fernando Mendoza
is the Heisman Trophy winner. An incredible speech that I
think for a college kid, could motivate even the most
sour and lazy ass dudes out there. Hello, that was awesome,

(26:02):
and those that didn't like it, you can smooch it. Seriously.
I know why some didn't like it. But you guys
that didn't like it are as I like to describe here,
and hopefully you're watching a little butt holeish. How could
you not thoroughly enjoy that? I don't give a damn
who you root for? Sometimes you just have to understand.

(26:26):
Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube live. How is that
camera working, James? Is it solid?

Speaker 13 (26:30):
It's solid right now?

Speaker 1 (26:31):
Look at me right here in an empty room. Nothing
wrong with that. I get to put up a bunch
of posters and stuff in here. What's it look like? Hey? People?
Go ahead? Inside the Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube live.
What do you guys think about? What the room looks like?
With three one seven, two, three nine ten seventy on
the text line I like it? I do. I was

(26:52):
ready to get out of the Downtown building. I'm going
to miss my parking in the Downtown building for other stuff,
but I'm not going to miss that building. I'm good
to go right here Meridian and Saint Joe's. I can
see if you drive by, probably maybe I can see
I guess if you're driving by. What is that tenth
Street right up here? I can definitely see you up there,

(27:12):
all right? The stream the app the Triple A Membership
Lounge via YouTube live. Your Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza.
The pacers played awful. I don't even want to talk.
They didn't want to play yesterday, so I sure as
hell don't want to talk about it today. If you
watched any of that, they didn't feel like playing, so
I don't feel like talking about it. I think that's

(27:33):
fair and common. Shoop over the weekend, I you a
loser in Kentucky perdual winner at home over Marquette, and
the most interesting game of the weekend at hinkle Field
House with Butler and Providence. That was awesome that Heywood kid,
by the way, shout out to that three point make
for the kid from Berbuff and a jaia with a

Speaker 1 (28:27):
For the Colts and it's just downs across.

Speaker 7 (28:30):
The goal line touchdownd why.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
And the Colts now are on top twelve to three.
Matt Taylor, Voice of the Colts, the first touchdown passed
for Philip Rivers in five years. Speaking of crazy, is
it crazy to bring Philip Rivers back out there on
Monday night against the Niners? That's exactly what the Colts

(28:56):
are going to do. Now, they're going to do that.
You tell me, I told you what I believe, knowing
that's their thought, knowing that they're still trying to win.
I would tell you what Johnny high school idea I
just had, and it's like it is lame as hell.

(29:19):
But if that's the direction you're clearly going to go,
I don't know what else to come up with against
a team that is going to be locked in on
exactly what you did yesterday. And believe me, you hung
in and that is great. You still lost. But I

(29:40):
think we all know offensively the serious limitations of this team.
And does anybody think that all of a sudden that's
going to be cured? Josh writes this, so Monday night
probably doesn't really matter. Christian McCaffery is going to kill him.
I'd expect well of one hundred yards rushing, fifty yards
receiving in two to three tds. Let me tell you this, Josh,

(30:01):
they're still going at it as if they're still going
at it right here. So it's not one where you
just put your hands up and say, yeah, you know what,
we're going to get our ass beat. So put the
old man in there. I mean, if we got to
get your ass beat, put Brett Rippon in there. Who cares?
And they're going out there to try to win. What
I am trying to come up with is a solution
as to what could help them against a better team

(30:25):
right now given their quarterback situation. And again, as much
as they were able to hang in against a very
good defense in a tough environment, it was also as
big a reason as any why they didn't end up winning.

(30:47):
You have to be so perfect or close to perfect
in everything you do everything else on that field to
be able to survive those circumstances. Again, those limitations. That's
a second time this year they've had to settle for

(31:08):
a sixty yard field goal. But I think it's even
more magnified with a quarterback. That was a great story
the touchdown pass and you know his team a watch
party and cheering. But I'm talking about a solution, even
if it's a half assed, ridiculous sounding solution, to what
the issue is. So tell me what the issue is. Okay,

(31:29):
you want the brain the decision making of a forty
four year old out there, But where can you find
the arm of somebody that at the very least is
a threat down the field or is a mobile threat
in and around the pocket. Because the offensive line was
not an issue yesterday, what do you do? Text line

(31:52):
is wide open for you guys too. Thanks for hitting
me up. In Beach Grove says, don't be surprised if
Fernando and the boys running back. He just added doctor
Pepper to his nil money. He's making either two point
six or two point eight million and gets to play
with his brother. Not a bad gig if you can

(32:15):
get it, and you know what, you might be right.
Regarding the return to Fernando Mendoza, I would doubt it.
I would say, if you believe you're going to be
a top tier pick at quarterback in the NFL draft
in the spring, you go. But certainly the money is
a significant option. And I will also tell you this.

(32:35):
Dave in Beach Grove, You're gonna have a lot of
options at quarterback. Have you seen the two names that
just came out to day on the transfer portal? Anybody
ever tell you that Bloomington, Indiana is now the cradle
of high level quarterbacks with Kurt Signetti there, because the
last two years, all you've seen is the upgrade. Everybody
else sees what you're seeing too. Everybody watched sixty minutes

(32:57):
first time I've ever watched sixty minutes last night. The
money that they're putting into that program right now, JMV.
I think as soon as Richardson is able, you have
to put him back out there. Also, as I with
the hustle play of the year, two of the best

(33:18):
college players in the state MS Jack and he got
rejected by Stefan Rim, which means he tried to dunk
it and got blocked by the rim. Didn't pout, didn't
whine while laying on the floor, was first to the
loose ball, and then after a kickout a made three.

(33:39):
That was an awesome play, an awesome play that most
would not make. What a great game that was. Michael
was in Louisville, Kentucky. Steichen has picked this as his
hill to die on. So when it's all a disaster,
like we know what's going to be, everyone needs to
be sent packing. Everybody. Hey, if they embarrasslingly lose out,

(34:01):
you know, maybe that is going to be the key
to all this For that change. I'm just going by
what took place, going all the way back to October,
and it seemed like when you allowed, if you're Krly
Orsa Gordon, that deal to take place more than just
a band aid. As you remember it was described back
in early November. When you allowed that, I thought, you're

(34:22):
signing on with this group for the foreseeable future because
on the field, to make change is simply put, you
don't have the options. Two three, nine, ten seventy Mike
and Brooklyn. James is going to start this show. Hello
Mike in Brooklyn.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Yeah, what's that Japanese saying? I'm not sure if I
got it right, Kobe Ashi Maru no win situation? I
remember that from Starchrek?

Speaker 1 (34:48):
Is that is that how you feel right now? Who
should quarterback this team on Monday Night?

Speaker 12 (34:52):
Mike, Well, it's going.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
To be it's got to be Rivers because that's stiking thing,
you know, cerebral He needs the cerebral quarterback. I've already
written off Anthony Richardson is anything. I mean, the guy
can't even get basic things in the preseason. He put
him in in garbage time and he throws the wrong pair,
you know, throws the wrong pass, throws uh passed to
himself for entered the defensive lineman's arms. So Anthony Richardson

(35:15):
is a fairy tale as far as I'm consented, but
ironically less yesterday, I think Stiken called the game exactly
the way he should have, you know, and they played
well enough to win. They tried to gut it out
uh once again, just at the end of the game though,
the playing for the sixty yard field goal. I don't

(35:36):
know about you, but when it was before the come
in the warning, I'm saying, what are you doing? Why
are we hurrying up to the line here and getting
another play in? So then I then I started thinking, Uh,
don't tell him. He's gonna just this is it. He's
just going to play it after you for the sixty
upfield goal, which is exactly what he did. You know,
he's trying to.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
Hey, hey, Mike, I don't think this offense is capable
of much more, if anything, more than what we witnessed yesterday.
And that's the problem I have. I guess the nine
is on Monday night. I think that I think we
saw I think we saw the ceiling oh that yesterday
with that quarterback and again they were close. That's great,
but they didn't win. And I think we saw the
ceiling of it. And believe me, if we saw, you know,

(36:13):
the Niners are going to be licking their chops at it.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Yeah, I mean, I think they can hang in and
they can play it. But that's just like the common
theme for this team that this is this is what
they are they When when do we ever see these
guys step up in a big game against the big
time opponent and that doesn't happen. Just the way they
handled the end of that game, celebrating like you got
forty seconds left to go, they're celebrating like they won

(36:37):
the Super Bowl.

Speaker 12 (36:39):
You know.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
Special team, I mean Groupie hit that field go great.
Special teams needed to come up make you know, pin
them back as far as they could get a big stop,
which they'd done earlier in the day.

Speaker 12 (36:49):
Couldn't do it.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
Once again, doesn't matter who the defensive coordinator is, I
don't care if there's rookies in the secondary. Sam Donald
boomboom and and he hits an out a deep pass
out of bounds to stop the clock with eighteen yards.

Speaker 12 (37:03):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
So I mean it's just this is in old fans.
This is who they are, because this is the culture
that they've been in. This is you know, these players
are not playing for the Lombardi Trophy. They're playing to
the participation Trophy.

Speaker 12 (37:17):
They don't know.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
What it is to suck up their guts and make
a play to win the game. They just want to say, well,
we gave it up best. Well, you're not getting paid
to do your best, you're getting paid to win. You
could have won the game at the end, and they
were incapable of doing it. They've been incapable of doing
it since Philip Rivers was the quarterback. They can do
it against the Arizona Cardinals and you get lucky, you

(37:39):
get a non Karen's call. They were able to come up.
They were able to beat the Falcons in Germany. You know,
but you go up against the big time team, a
playoff caliber team, over and over and over again, when
the game is on the line, they're going to find
a way to lose it.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
They're not going to come up big.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
It's just it's who they are.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
I mean, you think they have a different rank. I mean,
we know the Rivers is going to start on Monday
night because Shane Sdeyke and Mike said as much today.
Do you think they're going to have a different wrinkle
here at all or come out with the same type
of design because my problem is I don't know what
more they can do. I think you exhausted all the
energy you have at trying to get the forty four

(38:20):
year old involved. I think again, he's got limitations that
are such that I don't know how you're going to
find what is going to be necessary to loosen things
up with this nine or defense. Now. I mean, listen,
it was one thing to be able to do that
to the Seahawks, and they did it, but they ended
up losing. But now everybody, if you didn't already know,

(38:41):
you're really going to know. And it kind of looked
like at time Seattle was a little bit confused about
what was was going on because I'd watched them before
and maybe it was just the offensive line stepping up.
I'm not sure, because they did definitely step up, Mike,
but it's not going to be I think you saw
the high level of what this group can do with

(39:02):
this quarterback yesterday and it was still in the losing situation.
So you've got to add something to it. You got
to do something different to me, and we'll see. You
know what that is is going to be?

Speaker 2 (39:14):
Yeah, you think you're going to get a I mean,
the only thing that I could think of is getting
some packages in there for Riley Leonard. You know, let
them use his legs, that them, you know, a couple
of goal line situations where you let him.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
I think I think that is the the only so
and it sounds stupid because I brought it up last night.
It sounds stupid as hell, But I don't know. You
know what else you're going to come up with if
this is your path, and clearly this is their path, Mike,
I appreciate it. Later on this week we'll learn a
little bit more.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
Oh yeah, bro, And by the way, you look good
in your new uh congratulations to studio.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
No really do you like the look out of Mike?

Speaker 2 (39:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Man?

Speaker 2 (39:49):
And you color coordinated too?

Speaker 6 (39:50):
Well?

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Yeah, it was accidentally dumb, but I'm looking damn straight
good in this joint here. Thank you brother, all right?
Thank Mike is in Brooklyn, New York. What would you
a quarterback? Knowing that Philip Rivers is the starter? Did
they find a new right tackle, the right tackle the future?
I believe they did. Jalen Travis, by the way, was
a terrific interview. Look to Nuda, shout out to him

(40:14):
coming in at left tag. I didn't notice that there
was a beat that was missed anybody else by two
thirty nine ten seven your calls coming up on the
other side. In fact, I think we're nude, plumb nude
until the five o'clock hour and Stephen Holder, Hey, tomorrow
is going to be a great show on the road.

(40:35):
Twin Peaks in Greenwood. So, James, I'm going to turn
fifty six years of age tomorrow at Twin Peaks in Greenwood.
I can't think of a better location to do that.

Speaker 13 (40:47):
That sounds like a great time five.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
Six Twin Peaks in Greenwood having a party. I know
you reached out to Dan Wets. Hopefully that happens. Hey
tomorrow's show, I have an extra special guest who was
locked in, who is going to be in town in
fact the lock in at five o'clock hour, I explain
coming up on the other side the stream of the
app Bast Radio the Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube live.

(41:09):
Become a Triple A member today as we are live
at our new studios just off of Meridian and Saint Joseph's.
It's the Ride with JAMV on ninety three five and
one seven five.

Speaker 12 (41:19):
The fan.

Speaker 5 (41:23):
The Ride with JMV.

Speaker 6 (41:25):
Attention, whoever you are.

Speaker 11 (41:26):
This channel is reserved for emergency calls only.

Speaker 7 (41:29):
Lady, I sound like a Warner Pizza ninety three five
and one oh seven five.

Speaker 5 (41:34):
The fan.

Speaker 1 (41:36):
Backing you throw is Darneld. This is third and eight.

Speaker 5 (41:38):
Here comes pressure by the Colts.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
And night Barry of.

Speaker 9 (41:41):
It's a sack by Indianapolis inside the ten, back to
the nine yard line. It's a loss of eight third
down sacka first wave demolish on.

Speaker 1 (41:50):
Sam Turtle, Matt Taylor voice of the Colts. Colts lose
eight and six. Colts Monday Night, get Frisco in town.
Philip Rivers is first touchdown pass in five years. At
the very end of sixty yarder from Blake Groupie, I
was already getting everybody at the shop and broad Ripple

(42:11):
and Carmel James ready for I am a groupie groupie
after that sixty yarder, hell, I think I even spelled
it wrong, which is not unusual. I'm a groupie groupie.
The little nugget of a human being James with the
big leg. There's nothing wrong with little nugget of a

(42:32):
human with a big leg. And then unfortunately it all
unraveled in that final Seahawks possession and Myers goes five
six in distance for the game winner. JMV. Greetings from
the great city of Atlanta. I love your show. I

(42:52):
listen every day. This feels so much like nineteen ninety
seven all over again, when the Colts were grasping at
straws with Harball and Paul Justin. Yeah, Paul Justin back.
Then well done. They just need to ride and die
the rest of the way with Riley Leonard and see

(43:14):
what they have there. We need to come up, jameis,
do we have capability of doing a poll a PLL somewhere?
Can you do that on Twitter?

Speaker 13 (43:24):
I can do.

Speaker 1 (43:25):
I'm kind of curious, can you guys all chime in?
I'm curious the line in the sand that's drawn between
those that do want to see Philip Rivers again and
those that want to see somebody else, whether it's Riley
Leonard or you'll find out about Richardson later on this week,
or anybody else. And I understand this. This is not
a shot at Philip Rivers. This is more about the

(43:49):
limitations of the offense. If he if you can mix
his decision making and savvy up with somebody that has
a capable down the field threat, then I think everybody
would be down with that. Shane Stickin said earlier today

(44:11):
that indeed it is going to be Philip Rivers to
start coming up on Monday. How many of you want that?
And I want to hear you know. I'm checked out
and I'm done in a no offer an opinion. You
guys have me offer my opinions every day, and I
have come up with an incredibly jackass one about to me,
if you're going to go with Rivers, you better have

(44:32):
some packages with another quarterback, whomever this might be, for
certain situations to where you know that Rivers is not
going to be able to do it, and when the
defense knows that Rivers is not a threat to do it.
I'm not anti rivers. I'm anti offensive limitations because that
cost you the game yesterday. Where is that poll located, James?

(44:58):
Can you direct folks there? I gotta know.

Speaker 13 (45:00):
I just put it on my x account. I tagged
you in it, so if you want to retweet it,
you can find it there.

Speaker 1 (45:05):
Jump right in there in a second, just like you
to jump right in with an incredible elite level snacket
and wind Shuelers coming up later off the night for
you original shrup Cheddar bacon and Cheddar alapeno pepper. One
of my favorite locations in Carmel would be Nieman's Harvest Market.
They have incredible meats and cheeses and the variety that
you're looking for of win Shuelers. There, Gordon's Food Service,

(45:28):
and throughout the state of Indiana the incredible There's one
good thing about the state of Michigan. Actually two good
things win Shuelers spreadability. Ad Meyer. Any Meyer location of
the state of Indiana has the spreadability of wind Shoelers.
Hour two. Your calls at two, three, nine, ten seventy
we'll get to that poll. Special guest tomorrow Birthday show
on the road in Greenwood at Twin Peaks cannot wait

(45:50):
to see you down there. And as I mentioned too,
a special guest announcement in the five o'clock tour coming
up tomorrow. I'll explain that and more and Steven Hold
a little over an hour away. This is ninety three
to five and one oh seven five The.

Speaker 5 (46:03):
Fan, The Ride with JMV.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
Who a minute, Takul a miles. Of course, it's impossible.
They're on instruments. This is gonna be a real sweat.

Speaker 5 (46:19):
Ninety three five and one oh seven five The Fan.

Speaker 11 (46:24):
The winner of the twenty twenty five Heisman Trophy is.

Speaker 1 (46:34):
Fernando Mendoza. Now the Heisman Trophy announcement on Saturday. Two
things happened this weekend courtesy of ESPN Right there, I
know new studios. That's one thing that happened to me
this weekend. I'd been out of the road a couple
of different days when this thing was cracked open last week,

(46:56):
and then yesterday me, Casey Valier and Bill Brooks started
to Colt's pregame huddle. So I was in here for
the first time. And today James and I in studio
for the first time in forever, and I dig it here.
I love it awesome. New studios still in the process.
Guys are carrying ladders and pounding stuff and drilling stuff

(47:16):
and stuff back. Yet they're TVs everywhere, absolutely everywhere. U.
This is great. So that's one thing that happened. But
two things I had never done before. I'd never watched
the Heisman Trophy presentation show. And you do it because

(47:37):
of Fernando Mendoza and IU winning, having a winning player
the Heisman for the first time ever. And then you
do it for the after when speech, which was incredible
from Mendoza. Can you imagine this is true? And this
is just the rap water existence of some out there

(48:04):
to try to tear that down, to try to rip
on that, to try to find issue, any issue whatsoever
with that. You know how big this is true? I
feel compelled to make sure I share this common knowledge
with you. You know how big of a jackass you

(48:25):
have to be to have anything wrong with that speech.
I don't care if you're a self proclaimed troll or
you think it's funny or you're amusing yourself all alone
between your ample self fulfillment, but you know how big

(48:49):
of a jackass you have to be. Not only was
that a great speech, and I don't care even if
I was watching it. If he was from Vanderbilt, that
was a great speech. If he was from Notre Dame,
that's a great speech. I know it's magnified because he's
from IU. That's their first heisman and now they're a

(49:10):
football school and this is great. But it was an
incredible speech anyway, And I was just compelled to bring
this up. If you were around anybody or saw anybody
that took issue with it and try to twist it
into something that it wasn't or made fun of it,

(49:31):
then you know you are truly either reading or listening
to a jackass, and you should never do that again.
And I think that if we all found that out
and move forward without that particular jackass baggage, we would

(49:51):
all be better for it, all be better for it
because it was perfect. It was perfect. Every single day
I do this show, and every single day I hear
the description of what you would believe to be the

(50:12):
perfect athlete that was as human and as touching as
a speech as you were ever going to hear. And
rarely do we talk about perfection with that in mind.
That was perfect. Yeah, I know, the Skip Bayless thing

(50:36):
rehearsed listen, jackass, and that's I should take my own advice,
because he is truly a jackass. And you know what,
I don't even feel compelled to get all over diego
Pavia about what he went to the club and got
loose and you know, f the heisman voters see. I
will say this, and this is common knowledge for me.

(50:56):
In my twenties, I often did stupid things. I often
got drunk and did really stupid things. One time I
drank out of the tip jar on a dare at
Jakeson Bloomington and got tossed. And I feel bad about that,
but it wasn't on video and I wasn't given the
finger to everybody. I was just a jackass. You know,
I've done some jackass things in my life in my twenties.

(51:19):
And when I think about that with Pavia, or think
about that with me three different decades ago, I also
think how incredible it is to look at something like
Mendoza that truly has the weight of the entire nation
watching you right now and for the first time ever,

(51:40):
you know, having these incredible opinions about you, and for
him to handle that in that fashion at that age
is incredible to me. So I wasn't mad regarding Pavia
and what he had to say and how he handled it,
because I've done jackass things in my twenties two. But

(52:03):
what it did, it spoke even more volume as to
how perfect Mendoza was in that presentation with that speech,
and how perfect he has been in this season for
IU football. It truly is incredible. So a shout out
to him. That's the first time I've ever watched that.

(52:25):
And then last night I was reminded to shout out
to John Wartheim, graduate of Bloomington North High School and
has now long standing I think, been a part of
sixty minutes who brought to a lot of people that
normally wouldn't be paying attention, you know, those news and

(52:46):
political worthy people, a glimpse inside the evolution of the
past two years under Kurt Signetti of this IU football program.
And a shout out to Don Fisher, who was front
and center. I will say this though, and I'll bring
this up to down on Friday. Don always seems more
excited when he sits across from me at our table

(53:08):
down in Bargersville and watching me drink in here and
Susie eat than he was opposite of John worthon He's
always more excited with me sitting there. But it was
awesome to see Don On there and then Warthim got
Meloncamp on there too. I love the fact that Meloncamp
has a smoker's box up there. I think a true story.

(53:33):
I don't know within Bloomington city limits, like where else
you know, outside of a smoking corral or a smoker's bullepin?
Are you allowed to be in public like that? And
burn one? That was good stuff. That's the first time
I've watched sixty minutes and the first time I'd ever
watched the Heisman Trophy presentation, and both have been worth it.

(53:57):
It really has hey. By the way, Bullseyevangroup dot Com
the Colts VIP tailgate from Monday night. That is going
to be a party this time next Monday. I'll be
down there doing this show. But bullseyevandgroup dot com will
get you set for that. They also have tickets in
case you're looking for tickets for the Rose Bowl for IU,
they have your tickets. And we'll see if that next

(54:19):
step is taken. What type of party could be on
the inbound in Atlanta. But I do know that they
have a bullseye tickets for the Rose Bowl for you.
They may want to check that out Bullseye of vangroup
dot com. I just talked to Kennet a little bit
earlier and he is good to go. We're talking about

(54:40):
the Colts quarterback situation. You tell me who would you
rather see. Shane Steichen announced earlier today that it is
indeed going to be Philip Rivers. Do you like if
it's going to be Philip Rivers and that's the direction
clearly we're going, do you have to add some wrinkles?
Do you like my Johnny High school football opinion on

(55:02):
how that should be handled? Or should it be a
different quarterback altogether? I just sent that back out of
JMV ten seventy James created that we rarely do polls here,
and there is a poll for you because I giggle
too much, like I'm twelve years old. See, I told
you I'm a jack This zero way I can handle
anything in my twenties. I mean, yeah, drinking out of

(55:26):
the tip jar is the tip of the iceberg of
my twenties. I was complaining to know. You guys are shocked,
complete and under jackass. You know it's good to know that.
Years later, James, I'm all grown up now. It's good
to know that I can't be dragged into situations like
that any longer. I'm all grown up and very responsible.

Speaker 13 (55:47):
And it only took till the day before your fifty
sixth birthday.

Speaker 1 (55:50):
Five six tomorrow, Everybody, you know, I don't feel five six.
I feel better than I did at both forty six
and thirty six, story because I think when you add
both forty six and thirty six together, that plus the
amount of weight, I feel much better. That weight loss
has been a big deal man. Shout out to Premiere

(56:11):
Weight Loss for that. I feel better going into five
six than I did going into four to six and
to three six, two, three, nine, ten seventy is that number?
Colts from yesterday? Mendoza, the Heisman Trophy winner. I'm not
talking about the pacers today because they're not worthy of
talking about. After that extra crappy afternoon effort at home

(56:32):
against the Wizards yesterday, that was not it. That's not
going to inspire anybody. And all you had to do
is look at Pascal Siakam on the bench to see
how much inspiration was involved anywhere. That was gross I
didn't want to mention too the overnight news regarding director, writer,

(56:54):
actor Rob Reiner and his wife being murdered and what
has been described, I guess allegedly by his son. I
haven't followed the story in the last couple of hours,
but obviously any situation like this is beyond sad, and

(57:17):
I'm going to lean onto the entertainment value that Rob
Reiner himself and along with projects and then others. How
should I describe this tentacles that he created to entertain
us all? And that's without me ever seeing The Princess Bride.

(57:40):
I've never been down with The Princess Bride, but stand
by Me is one of my favorite all time films.
You look at the films, you look at what he
accomplished as a part of the cast of All in
the Family, The Wolf of Wall Street when he played
Mad Max, as little time that he spent actually on

(58:03):
the screen, but the massive impact that he had, That's
what I feel about his career. Rarely have we ever
seen somebody be that multi generational impactful as we have
seen in Rob Reiner an incredible career, and then his father,

(58:26):
Carl Reiner. You know, it's interesting. I think yesterday, correct
me if I'm wrong, because it was the first rady
R movie that I'd ever seen. I believe yesterday was
the anniversary of the release back in nineteen seventy nine
of The Jerk that was Steve Martin's first starring role.

(58:47):
And I want to say that was a Carl Reiner
film as well. I think Carl Reiner passed away back
in twenty twenty. Just an absolute entertainment genius, and so
was Rob Reiner. And the news that has transpired in
the past twelve plus hours has been just awful, absolutely awful.

(59:17):
I digress back to sports at two three nine, ten
seventy right now, Coles, and we got text line that's
opening three one seven ten seventy as well. Can we
start with Andy online? Number one? No, who's okay? Who's on?
Give me a number?

Speaker 13 (59:33):
Let's go with line two, that should be Ike.

Speaker 1 (59:34):
Line two is my man? Ike is good to go? Hello?

Speaker 12 (59:37):
Why how are you hello?

Speaker 14 (59:39):
Jmb All I got to say, is this about yesterday's
game the Coats versus Seattle Rivers. Took us down and
got us a field goal, but less than a minute
to play, and then what do we do? We allowed
that jigging with.

Speaker 12 (59:58):
It, went off the line.

Speaker 14 (59:59):
Know that about have been coaching, I would have chucked him.

Speaker 12 (01:00:03):
Oh he was worth for.

Speaker 14 (01:00:04):
The five yards that the league allows you to chuck
him every time they lined up out of Chuckney and
how have kept on chucking?

Speaker 15 (01:00:12):
And so we took him out of this out of
this route?

Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
You know what? Ike? I think he ended up with
one hundred yards receiving plus, but it didn't seem like
that he was as impactful as he normally might be.
I felt like they did some good things, and I
think what that does. I think that highlights what I've
been talking about. You have to you mentioned rivers, got
them down the field and put them in position to win.

(01:00:37):
While you're accurate about that, the problem is that everybody
else has to play at such a consistent high level
because there are significant offensive limitations that we see and
and I think that that was the overall theme. Even
with what you're bringing up is one hundred percent accurate,
but those limitations are going to get you in the

(01:00:58):
end in this era of the NFL. There's just no
way around it.

Speaker 3 (01:01:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (01:01:02):
Well, I blame that on the defensive schemes because that
had been Belichick I guarantee you hed to chuck the
Gigma with all he was worth. But what do we do?

Speaker 15 (01:01:11):
We just let him one off the line, unload, that
gets down there, way down in field.

Speaker 12 (01:01:16):
Goal range, catch, it runs out of bound.

Speaker 15 (01:01:19):
That's why we lost the game.

Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
Well, that Seattle team was ripe yesterday. That's what's so
incredibly disappointing.

Speaker 15 (01:01:25):
Somebody else would have had to beat me, it wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (01:01:26):
Have been in I could sell the one that beat it.
I GE's so disappointing because that team was incredible, incredibly
ripe yesterday to beat and unfortunately the Colts let him
let him off the hook. And again, I just think
that magnifies, you know, the level that everybody has to play.
If you don't have any sort of any average offensive threat,

(01:01:52):
and as good a story as the River story was yesterday,
you have to be better and more of a threat
at that position in the NFL to expect to win,
you just do well.

Speaker 15 (01:02:05):
We got Jonathan Taylor, so that's what keeps them, That's
what keeps them out.

Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
Yeah, it was three and a three and a half
three and a half were carrying eighty seven yards out
of what twenty six carries. He got the number of
carries that he should have, but you would hope he
would break one off like they had two plays fifteen
plus yards and that was it. That normally doesn't win
you anything.

Speaker 3 (01:02:26):
Well, he didn't.

Speaker 14 (01:02:27):
Breaking that out, but they had to worry about him
though they had worried about well.

Speaker 1 (01:02:30):
And that's a great point you make, because they were
worried about him because they're not worried about the quarterback
being able to get the ball down the field. And
therein lies the issue.

Speaker 15 (01:02:42):
Okay, Dan, you figured that's the reason why we lost.
But I'm saying while we lost because we didn't take
they takes.

Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Oh no, Hey, hey, Ike man, we can all be
I'm not suggesting I'm right over you. I'm not suggesting
I'm right over you at all. You're you're right with
your opinions. But the quarterback, the quarterback play to be better.
I'm talking over Ike. He doesn't hear me. So hey, Ike,
go ahead and continue. I'll shut up.

Speaker 15 (01:03:05):
I'll just say whatever you believe us the reason, But
I'm just playing with us for the minu at the play.
Our quarterback had us in the league.

Speaker 12 (01:03:12):
So you know, you could say whatever you want. But
it was our.

Speaker 15 (01:03:14):
Defense and let them get down there in field goal range,
and I would have shut a jigma down.

Speaker 12 (01:03:19):
That's what I would have done.

Speaker 15 (01:03:20):
Now they might have gotten down in some other way,
but it wouldn't have been caught with him.

Speaker 14 (01:03:24):
Look at the play that he made.

Speaker 15 (01:03:25):
He got him way down the field goal range. So
he caught two passes in that last drive. It never
never would have happened under my defense if they had
to find somebody else.

Speaker 1 (01:03:36):
I thank you for the call, and I was talking
over Ike.

Speaker 5 (01:03:38):
I didn't like that.

Speaker 1 (01:03:40):
That's my bad. Why is everyone getting on the defense
not stopping the Seahawks. Oh, they had them to all
field goals. This is a counter to what Ike just
had to say. If you said that it was going
to happen going into the game, you would have thought
the Colts would win. Rivers is not the answer. Start
aar when he is ready, Bobby and CG. You're going

(01:04:02):
to start Philip Rivers. You have to have certain down
the field threats. You have to add some wrinkles to this.
It just can't be all about him again, because not
only are circumstances going to be different, but now you're
going to have even more tape out there, and it's
not like anybody's going to be surprised about what takes

(01:04:24):
place on Monday night. And while Ike was accurate and
Ike has in mind what he wants to do defensively, again,
the threat and the inability to do anything down the

(01:04:47):
field any chunk plays whatsoever. That's like nineteen fifties or
sixties football, and you're lucky to be involved in a
game like that. I'm glad that they were. And yes,
it should have worked out better. I mean, you would
expect your defense to at least have a little bit
of resistance on that final drive or the kickoff to

(01:05:10):
be better. But you look forward to Monday night. I
don't know if Frisco is not going to be more
prepared for what they have witnessed with Philip Rivers. I'm
not mad at Philip Rivers, but you have to get
more out of that position, and certainly if you're not

(01:05:35):
going to be able to do it, the threat has
to be there. At some point. There's this zero threat,
nothing whatsoever. Thank you. Michael's online three at two three
nine ten seventy.

Speaker 4 (01:05:49):
Hello Michael Babe, Thanks for having me. You got Banby,
Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
You got man go ahead.

Speaker 4 (01:05:54):
Hey, I have a comment and a question after that.

Speaker 6 (01:05:57):
So my comment is, we're talking about cleaning house with
the coaching staff in the gym. I don't think Ballot
deserves to come back. However, with the Sauce Gardener trade,
what GM and coach in the right mind would want
to take this job knowing they don't have two first
round picks going for the next for their first two years.
It'd be like the Penn State coach coaching starts all

(01:06:18):
over again. We'd be down to our twelfth thirteenth option.
I don't I don't foresee any you know, high quality,
high caliber, up and coming GM and coach wanted this
job knowing that they're stuck with.

Speaker 4 (01:06:32):
You know, washed up ar or a broken day Jones.

Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
Right. So that's like, yeah, well that's my thought too.
Back if somebody asked me that yesterday, and you asked
me that, somebody else asked me that last week, Michael,
and I don't know if it would certainly it probably
would be more difficult. You wouldn't maybe have your selection
of anybody that you'd want. Somebody would still want the gig.

(01:07:00):
But no, you're right, I mean, overall, this is not
going to be a primary job. Plus you and I
are unlockstep on the fact that when they agreed to
do that Sauce Gardner deal, I think that was the
moment when they were the understanding that everybody was going
to be back like it or lump it. I think
that was the moment at the trade deadline, and I

(01:07:22):
think that's how it's going to be coming up next year.
What's ballad, He got one more year and he's not
going to get extended. But I don't think that with
one more year remaining that he is going to be gone.
I think that everybody's sitting here right now unless they
have an absolute embarrassing final three weeks melt down disaster
where you have to clean house. I think that there

(01:07:45):
was an understanding at the trade deadline that this is
going to be it coming up next year. And in fact,
they certainly plan on bringing Daniel Jones back right and
you know, trying to expedite his rehab process to whenever
that's going to be, to maybe start the season, which
was mentioned over the weekend. So I think that's another
telltale sign that everybody's going to be back again.

Speaker 6 (01:08:07):
And my question in comment that I think the most
infuriating part to me is I don't mind that they
called Philip Rivers. What I find so almost malpracticed by
Ballard is if they had this little faith in Riley Leonard,
which is fine.

Speaker 4 (01:08:23):
Right where we haven't seen practice. Maybe he's struggling the
grass every thing. Why didn't they make that phone call on.

Speaker 6 (01:08:28):
October twelfth after the Arizona game and said, hey, we
lost ar ur QB three. Our practice squad players are
very good, Philip. Can you start getting a shape or
would you be interested in voting a clipboard just in
case a guy who has an injury history is getting
banged up.

Speaker 16 (01:08:46):
If he was.

Speaker 6 (01:08:47):
Their emergency option, why weren't they exploring anything after the
Arizona game. It's malpracticed. And Shane Steigen said in the
Jacksonville game, he said, after his after the Jacksonville game,
He's like, my first thought was, let's call Philip. Why
wasn't that Why did you think of that after Richardson

(01:09:09):
got hurt? Why was there no contingency plan? And here
we are stuck now with a forty four year old
beer belly Philip Rivers. Maybe we called him in October.
We could say, hey, get in shape, work out the
arm man, let's put you on the practice squad, finish
up your high school season, and then let's at least
get you in the building.

Speaker 4 (01:09:29):
And that, to me is what's most infuriating.

Speaker 6 (01:09:31):
If they had that little faith in Riley Leonard, why
didn't they explore anything after the Arizona game.

Speaker 1 (01:09:37):
Michael, I think it's this way. I don't think Philip
Rivers would come back if he didn't know he was
going to get automatically this gig. And clearly, if Daniel
Jones is still playing and he has not done for
the season, Rivers comes back to be the backup. I
think that's why. I mean, you could call down and go, hey, mab,
maybe you should get in better shape because we may
need you. But I don't think he would ever come

(01:09:59):
back unless they say, all right, when you come back
from Alabama, this is going to be your starting gig
right here. That's exactly why. To me, he's also going
to start on Monday night too. There's no way you're
going to bring him up here and starting for one
game and then you'll have him ride the bench after that.
So yeah, I think that this is all all late evolving.
But I think that. I don't think he would have

(01:10:19):
been an option if Daniel Jones still would be out
there as the starting quarterback. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:10:25):
I mean, I think at the very least, you could
have given a heads up, hey, you're going to be
our emergency option, get into shape, Philip, just in case,
or start exploring trades out there for other backup quarterbacks
if you didn't have any.

Speaker 5 (01:10:35):
I mean, something should have been.

Speaker 6 (01:10:37):
Done if that was your emergency option was to call
forty four year old Philip Rivers.

Speaker 1 (01:10:41):
Yeah, well, and this is this is kind of what
they're about. It's almost like maybe we haven't been down
this path before, but it feels like we've been down
this path before, doesn't a Michael, it does?

Speaker 6 (01:10:53):
Yeah, I mean I think, really the only chance we
have going down this, I think the only chance we
have going I'll hang up after this because you got
probably the only chance.

Speaker 2 (01:11:01):
I mean, they're going to have.

Speaker 6 (01:11:01):
To dial up some packages for ar to get in
there to maybe throat you know, just go in there
on some fourth and two's, third and shorts, do some
RPOs with JT. Not ask them to do much, right
because apparently can't read defenses. Just say hey, we're going
to do some packages with ar do some RPOs on
short yardage, and have Alex Pearce run some verticals and
try to.

Speaker 4 (01:11:19):
Go downfield a few times. I mean, I think that's
the if the defense.

Speaker 5 (01:11:22):
If we get.

Speaker 4 (01:11:23):
Sauce in dfo back and they can play as.

Speaker 6 (01:11:25):
Well as they did against Seattle down the stretch, and
we get some mildly competent.

Speaker 4 (01:11:30):
Offensive play, you know, we might be able to.

Speaker 6 (01:11:32):
Win a couple of these games. Now that's the overly
optimistic part of me. The realistic me is we're screwed.
We're going to lose these three and we're.

Speaker 1 (01:11:38):
Stuck running it back to Michael. Thank you for the call.
I appreciate that. And again, they didn't lose yesterday because
of Philip Rivers. Well, one of these significant issues would
have been the Philip Rivers limitations as quarterback offensively, and
that's something that's only going to be more magnified coming
up on Monday night against San Francisco. That's my entire point.
This is not a show to rip on Philip Rivers,
not at all. Philip Rivers did well, I think everybody

(01:12:01):
thought he could do upon being inserted as the starting quarterback.
But part of the issue, while he didn't cost them
the game. Being limited or that limited offensively is not
gonna win you any games. Didn't win it yesterday and
it's not gonna win it in the future. Quick break,
We'll come back to your calls. Don't go anywhere the
new studio. If you're watching via the Triple A Membership

(01:12:24):
Lounge YouTube live, how are we looking on this Monday
in downtown in the Twin Peaks on the road in
Greenwood tomorrow? Can I see everybody there? Let's have a
little bit of a party. I'll explain. Gonna be a
really fun show at Twin Peaks in Greenwood coming up
tomorrow with ninety three five and one oh seven five
The Fan.

Speaker 5 (01:12:44):
The ride with JMV.

Speaker 1 (01:12:46):
Now you listening here is not is a big movie
by I'm.

Speaker 5 (01:12:51):
Going away ninety three five and one oh seven five
the Fan.

Speaker 12 (01:12:57):
Hey, Stan, I don't think we asked just for the
record about next week. I mean Philip is started next week?
Is that how we should proceed?

Speaker 1 (01:13:06):
Okay? Yeah, Phillip the starting quarterback? Yeah okay? And then
Shane Steichen right there was asking about well about the
starting quarterback from Stephen Holder, who joins us at the
top of the hour, Philip Rivers as your starter coming
up next week. Rivers and his return after five years
on the beach. Eighteen of twenty seven won twenty touchdown

(01:13:26):
and that final play interception which honestly, you're just kind
of thrown it up to try to get it down
the field, which was the most significant issue of the
day and something that Voice of the Colts Matt Taylor
talked about in that Colts Daily Update was the lack
of chunk plays, which is directly related to the limitations

(01:13:48):
you have at quarterback. The decision making fine, you know,
being out there and trusting what he is doing fine,
but the offensive limits that transforms your offense into something
that looks like it's out of the early seventies in
the nineteen sixties. It is not going to win. You're

(01:14:10):
fortunate you were there and you should have won. And
the kickoff messed you up, and the defense letting them
get in position for that game winning fifty six yarder,
they let you down. But offensive limitations, and believe me,
the Seahawks just kept coming up, coming up, coming up.

(01:14:32):
It was a stranglehold. And now even more of that
is going to be visual for the Niners to digest
for Monday night. And even with the Rivers as the
starting quarterback, you have got to find some different wrinkles.
If you're Shane Steichen at that position, you just do two, three, nine,

(01:14:54):
ten seventy is that number?

Speaker 9 (01:14:56):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (01:14:56):
Tomorrow, by the way, on the road, we're going to
be a Twin Peaks in green Way. I want to
see you there. The ice cold beers and a great time.
Dan Wetzel's going to join us. We'll talk about Fernando
Mendoza the Heisman, we'll talk about the college football playoff
and this is awesome and a shout out to him
because he's going to be officially in town coming up
on Thursday at the Mirror Egyptian Room. It is a

(01:15:18):
special screening of the film A Christmas Story, and we
all watch that over Christmas and there's always a marathon
on TNT or TBS or both and you've seen it
a thousand times. Peter Billingsley is Ralphie in A Christmas

(01:15:40):
Story and he's going to be at the Egyptian Room
at the Mirrah with you on Thursday. I think I'm
gonna have some tickets to give away for that as well.
But that is going to be a special screening of
a Christmas Story and then he's going to do a
Q and A with the audience afterwards. Ralphie joins me
on the show at A about five thirty tomorrow, Peter

(01:16:04):
Billingsley and I don't know how much of this he does,
but he's going to join me coming up at five
thirty tomorrow. So Dan Wetzel, college Football, Peter Billingsley, Ralphie
from a Christmas Store, and maybe some tickets for you
as well for that event coming up on Thursday. Twin
Peaks in Greenwood should be an absolute blast tomorrow and

(01:16:29):
we'll have some some beers for fifty six tomorrow with you. Guys.
Cannot wait to hang out with you. It's from Ryan JMV.
You better cut Mike off before they give him his
own show. Mike was awesome. Jeff writes this, we all
found out how the Colts feel about Aar. You're probably

(01:16:50):
right about that. Plus his face is broken or has
been broken. And who should the Colts go with at quarterback?
James put that out. There is a poll at james
A Radio and at JMV ten seventy if you guys
want to go ahead and put your vote in. We'll
talk about that a little bit later on JMV. Are

(01:17:12):
they still working some bugs out listing today? And I
can't turn my radio up loud enough to hear you?
Is this true? Because I can talk louder, Jeff, No
problem with that. Maybe just me or my old ears.
But when I switched over and that is next door
with him or a Nigel, they're loud and worse offt

(01:17:33):
I'll start talking a lot like this. That sounds loud
to me, Jeff. So this is how I would normally talk.
And this is a test for all of you out there.
And Jeff, this is for you because you're a great
listener to the show. Here's a test for everybody. This
is how we normally talk right here. So is it

(01:17:53):
a lot louder this way? Do you hear it better?
What do you want the louder version or the softer
regular version? Two three nine ten seventy touch line three
one seven two ten seventy as well. Courtney is up
next today. Hello, Courtney, welcome to the show.

Speaker 15 (01:18:13):
Was good job.

Speaker 1 (01:18:16):
You know where you been, Courtney. It's good to hear
from you.

Speaker 8 (01:18:18):
Welcome back, man, I've been working man you know, dealing
with these these people don't working with so in there.
So but yeah, talking about that game yesterday, Man, that
defense at the end, I mean they held good, But
at the end, I don't know what lou Emroumo was
planning or what he thought that he was trying to do.

(01:18:42):
I just don't understand why he didn't just make them
throw in the middle of the field instead of down.

Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
Yeah, got outside, didn't have to burn a time out
and they I mean, really what would they get down
the field? And the better part of like twenty five
seconds or so, it didn't take them very long under
the kickoff was all two.

Speaker 2 (01:19:01):
It took It took like three plays.

Speaker 8 (01:19:04):
It took like just three plays, Like Sam Harnold was
down there, just chugging one first down then another first down,
and I'm like, why are y'all not pressing the word
one one?

Speaker 1 (01:19:15):
What's going on?

Speaker 16 (01:19:16):
Like?

Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
What's up?

Speaker 12 (01:19:17):
Going softmore? It was really computing.

Speaker 1 (01:19:19):
So, hey, did do you view that as a defensive
game that you can lean on because you held Seattle
to six field goals and kept them out of the
end zone or is the memory of letting them so
easily and seamlessly get down the field for that game winner.

Speaker 8 (01:19:40):
Like I said, they, Like I said they, I feel
like they played good until that end.

Speaker 12 (01:19:45):
They played very good.

Speaker 8 (01:19:46):
They executed right. They made sure that whether it should
be or yeah, should be and uh and what's the
other receiver? I forgot it, but yeah, they make sure
that them too.

Speaker 2 (01:19:59):
Don't it too.

Speaker 12 (01:20:02):
Hyped up to because you know, they got too fast receivers.

Speaker 8 (01:20:05):
And that's that's really hard to especially Jack just smending
the jiggling day.

Speaker 12 (01:20:11):
He's really he's really a nice piece.

Speaker 1 (01:20:13):
But yeah, you know what's funny, he had over one
hundred yards receiving yesterday. I do believe it didn't feel
like he had it until we saw it at the
end and.

Speaker 8 (01:20:21):
It and it didn't and it didn't And that's what
and that's what confuses me, is like if Ward, if
Ward or sauce Gardner was out there, I feel like
he would have had less than that. But without them
two out there, yeah, this we're very you know, exposable
to the defense. So any quarterback can throw to any

(01:20:43):
of our corners because they're not they're good corners, but
they're not as good as them too as they are.
So so I hope and hopefully that this and also
Philip Rivers. He impressed me a lot. Really did this game.
He did really good except for he throwteen yards, but
the game management and the reading the defense is really

(01:21:06):
really really surprised.

Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
Me that that game.

Speaker 1 (01:21:09):
Would would you at Courtney? Would you you start him
or would you add any other quarterback wrinkles to try
to be a little bit more of a threat here
or there? Is that too like Johnny High school football
for Shanestyke and any company to do? Or would you
because my problem is you you clearly were limited at
that position getting down the field, and it's not like
that that is going to change. Frankly from Monday night.

(01:21:31):
What would you do if you're going to start Rivers
with that in mind?

Speaker 8 (01:21:37):
Well, first off, here here's my thing. We got under
We got to I understand this, that and that next week.
San Francisco going to stack that box. They definitely going
to stack that box because they know that Rivers is
not very mobile. I mean I would start Rivers, but
I feel like San Francisco has a game plan to

(01:21:59):
shutting down because, like I say, he can't throw nothing
but eight to ten yards.

Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
I wish they hope we will see what.

Speaker 8 (01:22:06):
What Er can do this week, even though even though
I'm not sure, not really you know, high.

Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
Up on that.

Speaker 8 (01:22:13):
I mean, I'm still rooting for but I just want
to see how he do this week, and if if
he does good, maybe Shane Stacking might change his mind
and say, well, we're gonna go even though he said
Phil Rivers is gonna start Monday.

Speaker 12 (01:22:27):
But it's risky in my opinion.

Speaker 1 (01:22:31):
It's risky when you do.

Speaker 12 (01:22:32):
That for Monday. From Monday, this game, Monday night game.

Speaker 14 (01:22:35):
So that's how that's that's all I gotta say.

Speaker 1 (01:22:38):
Cordinay, hopefully I got I got a chance to see
you again right center, man, thanks for calling.

Speaker 8 (01:22:43):
Oh you welcome anytime, man.

Speaker 1 (01:22:45):
I love this. Fifty three years has been so Nineteen
seventy three was the last time Sonoko had a full
title sponsorship in IndyCar. Have you guys seen the livery

(01:23:05):
for the Sinoco car. This is about as bad ass
as it gets, the number eight of Kiffin Simpson. And
I know you guys probably don't care too much about that,
but I didn't want to mention it because this car

(01:23:26):
is badass looking right here, But really, do you get
something that hasn't happened since nineteen seventy three. It's outstanding,
and I'm sure that when's Kevin and Kevin and Trackside
later on this week, I'm assuming they'll be talking about that.
That badass Sinoco thing was great right there. That'll stir

(01:23:50):
an echo or two for you, not since nineteen seventy three.
All right, quick break, we'll come back. If you're on hold,
I'll get to you. Our lone guest today ask that
question of Shane's Dyke regarding who's going to start a
quarterback on Monday night. Shane Dyke and answered the question
of Stephen Holder with Philip Rivers? Do you believe he
should be not to mention the fact a question about

(01:24:14):
the differences between Rivers and now a medically cleared Anthony Richardson.
We'll see where he is going to be as well. James,
you got something for me?

Speaker 13 (01:24:24):
Looks like Trackside is on tomorrow Sunoco.

Speaker 1 (01:24:28):
Everybody, man, that thing looks good back after fifty three
years in a full title sponsorship quick break, we shall return.
That is track Side coming up tomorrow right here on
ninety three five and one oh seven five.

Speaker 5 (01:24:41):
Fan the Ride with JMV.

Speaker 1 (01:24:46):
I Love JMV. He looks like Rascal Flats guy.

Speaker 10 (01:24:49):
Got a cool soul patches and a buttery smooth one
oh yeah, ninety three to five and one oh seven
five the fan.

Speaker 9 (01:24:58):
The Colts trail bike two and Blake Groupie is on
for a sixty yard field goal. He's got the leg
for it if he can make it. As we said,
this would be a new career long for him.

Speaker 1 (01:25:11):
His career long prior to.

Speaker 9 (01:25:12):
This kick is fifty seven. This one from sixty. As
Rigaberto Sanchez is prepared to put this ball down at
the fifty yard line, coming up from the right hatch,
the crowd is making tons of noise. Let's see if

(01:25:33):
young mister Groupie in his third year can knock down
a huge field goal stat placement kick on the way
headed downfield for the upright spits.

Speaker 5 (01:25:43):
Wow, whoa, it's good from sixty.

Speaker 1 (01:25:53):
Blake Groophy cult to top by one.

Speaker 5 (01:25:57):
Sixteen to fifteen, forty seven seconds to go.

Speaker 1 (01:26:02):
Hey, sixty yard field goal.

Speaker 5 (01:26:05):
It's Seattle.

Speaker 1 (01:26:06):
Are you kidding me? Matt Taylor and Charles Arbuckle on
the call, and I was prepared to get with my
guys Brian and Alex at the shop and broad Ruppel
and Carmel with the groupie groupie shirts and then the
kickoff and the lack of defense and Myers gets a

(01:26:27):
chance from fifty six and that was the game runner.
Our nugget of a field goal kicker should have been
the hero. And I ask you this as we get
the Steven Holder and more of your calls coming up
after five, had that been the game winner? If you
were a groupie groupie, had that been it and you

(01:26:52):
beat Seattle, would you feel differently about the quarterback situation
had that been a win another loss or would you
steal feel on this case that is the same circumstances
because you're just too limited and especially the magnified lack

(01:27:14):
of chunk plays at JMV ten to seventy. Tell me
who you want to see more on that on the
other side, and Steven Holder as well. When Schuler's spreadability,
you're going to find that your local Myer location throughout
the state of Indiana. Here's why too. The elite level
snacket on a cracker, a chip, a vegetable, even a burger,

(01:27:34):
it is the spread ability of win Schulers when you
get it, take a picture, and especially if it's a
place that we haven't recognized because we're handing out love
to those that give you the opportunity at the enjoyment
of the spreadability. Win Schulers spread Ability. Tell them J
ANDV sent you back with Stephen Holder and you and

(01:27:55):
the five o'clock hour are New Studios a little north
of the Monument Circle in downtown Indy with ninety three
to five and one oh seven five the Fan, the ride.

Speaker 5 (01:28:07):
With jmv Son. You got a panty on your head,
you drop fast ninety three five and one oh seven
five the fan.

Speaker 1 (01:28:19):
Hey, welcome back, Thank you for joining us. James is
over there. I'm John New Studios, Downtown Twin Peaks Tomorrow, Greenwood.
Let's party on a Tuesday and we're gonna have a blast.
I promised tomorrow, so join me Twin Peaks in Greenwood.
Eighteen sixteen is the final. As we thought maybe Groupie

(01:28:42):
would have some groupies after that. Make alas that was
not the case. Jason Myers connected from fifty six that
was the game winner for the Seahawks. Now eleven and three.
The Colts fall the eight and six Monday night they
get the Niners and joining us on the Andy Moore
Automotive group potline from esp in an ESPN dot com
We'll get back to your calls, by the way, in

(01:29:03):
just a second, so sit tight on that. But Stephen
Holder joins us. Now you asked the question of Shane
Steichen and it was short and sweet in the answer,
Philip Rivers is indeed going to start on Monday night?
Did you expect any other answer?

Speaker 12 (01:29:18):
Oh? Absolutely not. I just wanted him to be on
the record, and you know, wanted it to be put
out there officially.

Speaker 2 (01:29:25):
So that was it.

Speaker 12 (01:29:26):
I knew the answer, But sometimes I asked a lot
of questions to which I know the answer. That's the job.

Speaker 1 (01:29:32):
No, I mean, I'm curious as to what you feel
because you're reporting there, but you also watch the game
and have an opinion on it. While I don't blame
Philip Rivers for the loss, I think his clear quarterback limitations,
which I don't think are going to get any better
with San Francisco watching a week's worth of tape on
him from Monday night, are going to get any better. Thus,

(01:29:55):
I don't think the offense is going to be any
more of a downfield threat with him. Were his limitations
a part of the whole reason why we saw that
l for the Colts in Seattle yesterday.

Speaker 12 (01:30:09):
Well, I think if you look at it from this perspective,
the one way I would say yes, is that they
needed a little more juice in the second half. They
needed to get some points on the board, and they
struggled to do that. I think he kept them on
schedule and he didn't make the big mistakes, and I
think that's what they were kind of banking on, right.

(01:30:30):
I don't know that anybody in that building thought that
there would be any kind of fireworks, right. There was
never that expectation. They were going to try to win ugly,
and they almost did. They did it for fifty nine
plus minutes. They played the game they wanted to play.
But I'm not outraged by anything that I saw. I

(01:30:53):
just what I would say, though, is that if you're
going to play with a quarterback with those limitations, it
forces you to be really good everywhere else. Okay, it
just doesn't give you any margin for error like defensively,
special teams, et cetera. And and that's where it's tough.

(01:31:13):
That that's just the reality. Now, the last thing I'll
say is that that's also true no matter what you
know sort of bum third string quarterback. You're gonna play,
you know what I'm saying, like you, they're not winning
the game for you. You're gonna have to win it
with other guys. And I think that's what you saw yesterday.
They fell a little bit short in doing that.

Speaker 1 (01:31:35):
So Steven Older esp on ESPN dot com he is
on the Andy Moore Automotive Group plotline. So the the
medical clearance to return, what type of wrinkle might that
throw into if anything wantsoever with Anthony Richardson.

Speaker 12 (01:31:50):
Well, first we need to we need to define whatever
the hell that means, okay, because because I don't, I
don't know that we have. That's the thing. That's if
you listened to the pressure today. There were I think
maybe three or four follow ups about Anthony Richardson because
basically what we're asking is saying, what are you saying?

Speaker 1 (01:32:11):
Is he clear?

Speaker 2 (01:32:12):
All right?

Speaker 12 (01:32:12):
I'll tell you what I was told. He was clear.
He was he was medically cleared, and that he can
he can kind of get back out there. He can
get back out there like this week. I mean, if
they so choose, and I don't know what they're looking at.
I don't have all the information, but I'm just telling
you what I was told. He didn't commit to that,
he said the conversations are underway, so I don't know

(01:32:35):
what the variables are and all of that. Look, I mean,
he's not playing Monday. That I don't think is even
that's not even a conversation. I think people are kind
of running wild with this idea. They they hear that,
and I'm not talking about you, I mean just you know, readers,
people on Twitter, et cetera. People hear, oh, he's cleared,
and in their mind they're like, all right, well, when's

(01:32:56):
he putting the uniform on? Like, well, no, that's that's
not on the table. He hasn't done anything for two
months football related for the most part. He's recently started
throwing the ball, but you know, hasn't really opened it
up and cut it loose like he'll need to do
when he plays. So I always figured he'd have to
practice a couple of weeks before they put him out there.

Speaker 6 (01:33:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (01:33:18):
I know, Philip Rivers is out there off the couch
with no preparation. The difference is he's doing it just
based on his elite expertise, and they're accepting those shortcomings.
The physical shortcomings. I think when Anthony Richardson, that's not

(01:33:39):
the approach. Now, we can quibble about that, and I
think it's a conversation to have. Why is there such
a difference. But I also think the nature of that
injury is it was scary, and I think people are
not completely ready to commit to going all the way
with it. At least you got to get comfortable with it.
So that's where they're at right now. But I'm interested

(01:34:01):
to see how this goes. I don't know to answer
your question.

Speaker 1 (01:34:03):
What would you expect him back at practice this week?

Speaker 12 (01:34:07):
There's a chance there's a chance. I know that Anthony
wants back out there. I'll tell you that, and I
think there's some value in that. Even if he doesn't
play this year, I think there is a lot of
value in getting him out there because the odds are
high he might have to play some snaps for you
if he's on this team next year. And I don't

(01:34:27):
know if he will be. I have no idea what
the plan is. Okay, it's way too early to speculate
about that, but I think everybody wins if he gets
back into the swing of things. What I mean is
Anthony wins because damnit, he needs the snaps right, and
then the Colts win because, as I said, they may
need him, or at least they can evaluate him a

(01:34:49):
little bit more. Yeah, I mean, you got to get
something out of this year. So I mean, even if
it's two weeks of practice, you take that, you know,
And so I think there is value to him being
out there, and I think it could be a win win,
provided they pulled the trigger. We'll see.

Speaker 1 (01:35:05):
So Stephen Holder of ESPN on ESPN dot com, he's
on the Andy Moore Automotive Group hotline. So Philip Rivers,
could he have thrown it down the field if opportunity
presented itself or was that offense designed as we saw
it unfold? Because that's that, you know, And I know
they were close and that was great, but they still lost.

(01:35:26):
And that is just not a workable and winnable offense
by any stretch of the imagination in the NFL.

Speaker 12 (01:35:34):
No, sure, you're right. Look, here's the couple factors that
I'll throw out there. I think there that are worth
mentioning here. It was definitely deliberate to throw the ball quickly. Now,
whether whether he can hold onto it longer in the
coming weeks. I don't know, but that in that game
it was deliberate and a couple of reasons why. Number One,

(01:35:55):
they were trying not to get him hit. There's no
question about that. And he obviously is trying to avoid
getting hit right because he can't escape. That's the thing.
He can't step up and navigate the pocket like he
used to. I mean, we saw that he tripped over
his own feet, but that literally happened, and so that's
one factor. The other factor is, certainly arm strength is

(01:36:16):
not what it was, There's no question about it. But
I mean it's it wasn't He didn't have a strong
arm his last year here, frankly, but it was definitely
stronger than it is now. That's fair. I mean that's
to be expected. And then the other thing I would
say is that when they did throw it down the
field a couple times, what they had to do was

(01:36:38):
they had to do it with timing, okay, And what
I mean by that is you had to do it
with like, you know, get off the ball quick and
throw it up over the top and run up under it.
And that's what they tried to do with Josh Downs
on that play. I think down inside of the red zone,
or he threw it to him down inside of the
red zone. He just couldn't find the ball. And that's

(01:36:59):
the problem with that. As the balls out quick, so
it might be a shot play, but it's not a
seventh step like take my time, you know, drop.

Speaker 1 (01:37:11):
Shot play.

Speaker 12 (01:37:12):
It's a maybe five step quick five step and cut
it loose.

Speaker 1 (01:37:18):
So he can't He didn't have the arm strength to
get it down the field than that much. That's the
problem that you have because I was I was just
like hoping for I didn't even care if he threw
a pick. I just wanted to see a jump ball
to Alec Pierce a couple of times, and they didn't.
They didn't do that. And the biggest problem I have
with this, and again I'm not blaming that loss on
Philip Rivers, but he San Francisco is going to do

(01:37:43):
exactly and it's going to be magnified even more what
Seattle did in that second half, and it's going to
get ugly on Monday night with him. Unless you can
add something else, some reasonable challenge down the field, you
just can't play it like it's nineteen sixty five like this.

Speaker 12 (01:38:02):
Oh, I mean, I agree, I mean, this is modern football,
and the game is the game today, and it's very
different than what we saw yesterday, Ain't no question about that.
I'm not disagreeing with any of it. I think that
I think they they they are. If they're gonna play
Philip Rivers. Let's just go back to what I said earlier.
If they're gonna play Philip Rivers, they have to play

(01:38:23):
this close to the best game. The problem with that,
and they did do that yesterday. They fell short in
doing it, but they played the game they set out
to play. They just they could. They didn't pull it off, right,
I'm just talking about styles.

Speaker 1 (01:38:38):
Right.

Speaker 12 (01:38:38):
Here's the thing. It's very hard to do that consistently.
Like if if there was, if they had like the
you know, two thousand and two Ravens defense or something,
you know, maybe I feel differently. That defense played about
as well as is ever gonna play yesterday. Yep, with
the corners that you got out there.

Speaker 1 (01:38:57):
So the offensive line by the way too, Yes, you're right.

Speaker 12 (01:39:01):
That's the other thing I meant to mention yesterday was
that I'm sorry earlier in this conversation, which is you know,
two backup tackles. That was the other factor like they're
they're not.

Speaker 1 (01:39:09):
Hanging on them, and they have found their new right
tackle for the future. To me, I know, it's one game,
but they found it.

Speaker 12 (01:39:16):
I thought he might have a chance to be this guy,
and I was. I was very happy to be right
about that. He played very well. I did not notice
him and that's a great thing. That was a great thing.

Speaker 1 (01:39:26):
And he came in, and he came in for Ryman.
He didn't notice him.

Speaker 12 (01:39:30):
Other Steven, I gotta say I had. That won't surprise
me even more.

Speaker 5 (01:39:35):
Jill.

Speaker 12 (01:39:36):
Look, Travis, I I thought, you know, he was drafted,
you know, relatively high and and and had a lot
of you know, people out there who really liked his game.
But you know, Luke Tanuda, I mean, come on, the
only reason I can pick him out of a lineup
because he's like, you know, freakishly tall.

Speaker 1 (01:39:55):
Well, yeah, exactly something.

Speaker 12 (01:39:57):
It's something.

Speaker 1 (01:39:58):
They found their right tackle, and they found their the
kicker too, and Blake Groupie, the little nugget of a
human being, came up big from sixty and uh, you know,
you know, outside of a faulty kickoff and faulty defense
on that final play, we should be a rock and
t shirts and say I'm a groupie groupie, but a
last that did not happen.

Speaker 12 (01:40:20):
Yeah, I agree that it's a shame because that that
was the storybook ending. I wanted to write the storybook ending.

Speaker 15 (01:40:26):
Man.

Speaker 12 (01:40:26):
Look, I'll be honest with you. Look, I my job
is to tell stories, and that was the story of
a lifetime. But ultimately, though you know this, this is
not a Disney movie, and this is this is gonna
be a tough, tough sledding here the rest of the way.
It just is I don't know what you do with

(01:40:47):
any of this. We talked about this last week, right
after after Jones, after we knew Jones was done. You know,
I don't know what any of these games means at
this point. You know, what are we looking at? What
are we even watching? Right? I think you're looking for effort.
You're looking for, you know, not getting out coach. You're

(01:41:10):
looking for who you know, who's developing. You're looking for
things like that. But in the grand scheme, I don't
think you are learning anything about this team in the
long term with you know, with with backup corners, backup tackles,
of quarterback off the couch. After five years, I mean
this is not even real. But even what are we

(01:41:31):
looking at here?

Speaker 1 (01:41:31):
You know? Yeah, well, I will say this though they
were they were right there. You know, you don't win
any prizes for that, and you still get tagged with
an L. But they're still playing this out because they
still have an opportunity, and that part I understand. I
know you've got to run here. But in closing the
latest on on Rayman, as we saw Tenwa come in

(01:41:53):
for him yesterday, and then would you be shocked if
Richardson is back at practice later on this week, not.

Speaker 12 (01:42:02):
A whole lot of information on Ryman just yet, So
we just got to wait on that one. I don't
want to speak prematurely because I just don't know specifics
on Richardson. I think there's a chance. I do think
there's a chance this week. It has nothing to do
with him playing Monday. I don't believe that's even in
the conversation. They don't want to rush this, but getting

(01:42:25):
back to practice, as I said earlier, I think that
would be a huge step. I will leave you with
this though, Yeah, I personally this is me talking. I
personally think that unless he gets super ugly with Rivers,
I think he'll stick with Rivers, I really do well.

Speaker 1 (01:42:44):
I mean, and you know that too, because you're not
going to bring him up here for a game and
then bench him or two games and then bench him
after that.

Speaker 12 (01:42:51):
So and I say that for the for the same
reason he went with Daniel Jones over Anthony Richardson, which
is the trust factor. He trusted for the things that
matter to Shane, and those things are not explosive athleticism,
those and a big arm. Those things are execution setting protections,

(01:43:14):
all of those things. You know, I think ultimately in
that game yesterday you saw that there is value in
those things. But that value is limited too if you're
without the physical.

Speaker 1 (01:43:24):
So yeah, I just love to be by any means
necessary in the final three. And if that means you
put in some wrinkles with a different quarterback here or there.
I mean, I've thought about all these like Johnny high
school plays here at times. I just I don't know why.
I mean, you jack around with trying to get him
to jump off sides every other play, so once you

(01:43:46):
just go all the way here with all this other stuff,
I don't know why at this point that that you
wouldn't because you played it out in the fashion in
which you have with Philip Rivers here.

Speaker 3 (01:43:58):
But I.

Speaker 1 (01:44:00):
Just think that if you were a little bit more
of a threat at times down the field, that that
would open up some things, especially for Jonathan Taylor, who
rushed for eighty seven yards yesterday and three and a
half I think per clip, I mean, that needs to
be better, and.

Speaker 6 (01:44:15):
I mean it was.

Speaker 1 (01:44:16):
It was a long way to go. But anyway, all right,
I know you got a run here. I appreciate that.
We'll follow a variety of stories leading up to Monday night, Stephen,
thank you, all right. Steven Holder of esp on ESPN
dot com. Yeah, I know, I know. I've never been
a big Richardson guy, but I'm like at a point

(01:44:37):
right now where if he's cleared to go, I just
I don't care who's out there.

Speaker 5 (01:44:45):
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (01:44:48):
If it's not working to do something different, I don't
care if you're gonna lose. And that's where you think
that this team is right now, and I think a
lot of you believe that to be true. I understand that,
but I'm not somebody that is willing to see them
go out. I mean, I would just exhaust all possibilities

(01:45:13):
and you know where I sit with the quarterback room.
Next year, it is going to be the same as
the quarterback room this year, minus Philip Rivers and Brett Rippon,
the same. I know you don't like it, some of
you may not believe it, but mark it down the same.

(01:45:39):
I know Richardson's glass and he hasn't practiced in forever,
and he had. I mean, it's not like you'd be
relying on somebody's accuracy with the arm. I just if
you can throw it down twenty yards down the field,
maybe get out of the pocket from it. I didn't
do anything. It sounds like that I'm blaming Philip Rivers,
and I'm really not blame I mean Philip Rivers. Philip

(01:46:01):
Rivers did not cost them that game yesterday. I think
I'm more looking toward what you learn from that game
and than how you approach Monday night, because you have
two of the three remaining at home, and I just

(01:46:22):
I don't want to see him fade in the fashion
in which they're fading right now. Loses a four straight
and I know that it's not the same, and I
know that without their quarterback, But as I always say,
I don't mind if you live in the moment by
all means necessary, and it all sounds stupid. There is

(01:46:44):
no doubt, quick break, we shall return. We'll get more
of your thoughts on who should be a QB on
the game yesterday, looking forward to that Fernando Mendozi or
Heisman Trophy winner. Dan Wetzel joins us to discuss that,
and I you and the college football playoff that is
coming up tomorrow. It wasn't lost on me. I use
second half done at rut versus Kentucky that was incredibly problematic.

(01:47:07):
My goodness, can you value the basketball a little bit more?
It's one thing not to hit shots, but the lack
of value with the basketball was incredibly discouraging against the
Kentucky team that stinks, and in the second half an
IU team that's stunk. Per duo winner over Marquette. But

(01:47:28):
the game of the weekend, that double overtime thriller ed
hinkele for you guys versus Providence. Shout out to the
dogs right there too. I think the dogs in Yukon
coming up tomorrow night at Big East play I use
off until this coming weekend, I believe. And then the
Boilermakers also Auburn on Saturday. Is their next matchup? After

(01:47:50):
that went over Markette quick Break, we shall return Twin
Peaks tomorrow. Can you celebrate with me? Let's all join
hands and have a great Tuesday at Twin Peaks in Greenwood, Ice,
Cold beers and a hell of a time and a
busy show. I shall explain coming up on the other side.
The Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube Live and our
brand new studio. Hopefully you're watching right now, because every

(01:48:11):
time I move, the camera follows me. If I do
this like hip hop hoay kind of thing right now,
it completely freaks the camera ound. It's all over the place.

Speaker 5 (01:48:30):
The fan the ride with JMV.

Speaker 1 (01:48:36):
You're gonna stare all day or you gonna buy something?

Speaker 12 (01:48:39):
Uh, I'm gonna.

Speaker 5 (01:48:40):
Stare all day ninety three five and one oh seven
five the fan.

Speaker 1 (01:48:46):
Crank it up, James, because we got a sky point
to make right here. Yeah, very bad twenty four hour
period all the disturbing and awfully sad situation in LA
with the Reiners, Rob Reiner and Michelle Reiner, Anthony Geary

(01:49:12):
of Luke and Laura fame of the nineteen eighties on
General Hospital, and keep this up. James Carl Carlton funk,
an R and B singer, extraordinary, known most of all
for this song. Right here, James Carl Carlton. And she's
a bad Mamagema. She's built, she's stacked, damn straight, she

(01:49:37):
is SkyPoint to Carl Carlton, James cranking up for me. God,
this is a great song. This is a JMV Takeover
special right here, James, have you heard the song before?

Speaker 13 (01:49:57):
Just now, I have heard this before. I wouldn't have
been able to tell you who did it or what
the name of the song was, but I feel like
I've heard this before.

Speaker 1 (01:50:07):
What a great song. Carl Carlton was seventy two years
of age. Yeah, the Rob Reiner stuff. I was thinking
about that earlier because I was kind of privy. I
was up late last night and I was kind of
following that story, which is an awful story. And then

(01:50:33):
people online, including the leader, makes it even worse with
all the jackass Ory that said, I mean, you just
you ruin everything. I shouldn't say you you not personally,
but we all know somebody via social media because there's
such a jackass that ruins it for everybody else. This

(01:50:53):
is just a big classroom of jackasses. But I was
just taken by, you know, so much incredibly high level
entertainment that Rob Reiner provided as an actor, as a writer,
as a director. It's endless. And being the son of

(01:51:21):
a Hollywood legend, Carl Reiner, that's very difficult to deal with,
as you know we have witnessed now with the tragic
circumstances with Rob Reiner's son. But that's tough to be,
you know, to be, you know, the son of the

(01:51:41):
daughter of a Hollywood legend like that. Now I mentioned
a little bit earlier, I want to say that Carl
Reiner's film The Jerk, the first ever for Steve Martin,
was released yesterday. Carl Reiner put that together and that's
some comedic greatness right there. If you've not seen The Jerk.
That was my first rated R movie because it was

(01:52:04):
released a couple of days before my birthday is tomorrow,
I'll be fifty six. That was my first rated R
movie back in December of nineteen seventy nine. So I
went December the sixteenth, nineteen seventy nine, to the College
Mall Cinema, James and Bloomington, Indiana, and saw my first

(01:52:25):
rated R movie and then found out exactly the type
of job that Navan R. Johnson got courtesy of his
friend on the carnival tour. Yeah. Employment, but that was

(01:52:45):
Carl Reiner and his son was Rob Ryder. Then you
know what the circumstances there, Good to see you Van,
the circumstances there, but absolutely iconic and legendary. Yeah, rip
the Riiners, Michelle and Rob, Carl Carlton and Anthony Geary

(01:53:12):
and a lot of you remember that. To watch soap
opera is certainly back in the nineteen eighties. I was
not a viewer of General Hospital, but there was no
bigger thing with Luke and Laura. I mean, hell, Christopher
Cross has a yacht rock classic thinking of Laura, that
was built on that particular couple from the soap opera

(01:53:34):
General Hospital, and Anthony Geary passed away earlier today he
was Luke on General Hospital, all right, two three, nine,
ten seventy Back to the sports of things, and of
course the Colts Mendoza the Heisman Trophy winner over the
weekend too, and so much more for you. Eric is
up next to two three nine ten seventy. Eric, Welcome

(01:53:56):
to the show. How are you?

Speaker 16 (01:53:58):
I'm great, John, how are you doing great? Go ahead, Eric,
about a little a little early happy birthday for you.

Speaker 1 (01:54:03):
Thank you, brother. You got to join me tomorrow. We'll
do some happy birthday shots.

Speaker 2 (01:54:07):
That sounds like a play and I like to get
out of that.

Speaker 1 (01:54:09):
I'm gonna get a happy birthday uber on my right
home too.

Speaker 5 (01:54:13):
Thank you.

Speaker 8 (01:54:14):
That sounds like a damn good idea.

Speaker 1 (01:54:15):
That's a great idea. That's going to have to happen
tomorrow for sure. But thank you very much. Eric, I
appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (01:54:20):
So Hey, I gotta, I gotta.

Speaker 1 (01:54:22):
I'm just been wondering.

Speaker 16 (01:54:23):
I was listening to Jake a little earlier and he
was talking to Bob Kravitz and and Uh Chapel as
he normally does, and he kind of posed a little
question to them about if if the Colts were gonna
we're gonna vanilla up the offense was his terminology, and
play it safe, run the ball, give it to JT.

(01:54:44):
Because Philip Rivers was there, and why wouldn't they have
used Ridley.

Speaker 2 (01:54:49):
Leonard in that case?

Speaker 16 (01:54:51):
I mean, at least he gives him some mobility. He's
got an arm that that hasn't lost its you know,
after feed up over five years, and he doesn't have
any arm strength. And the question you want to know
is and they all said, well, the Colts felt and
still feel going into Monday night that yeah, Philip Rivers
gives them the best chance to win. They do, but

(01:55:13):
nobody has said why Riley Leonard doesn't give them the
best chance to win.

Speaker 1 (01:55:19):
They don't trust him and they don't trust him to
make the decision. I think it all starts with their
point of view is they trust Rivers to lead this
team offensively and to make the right decisions. They don't
trust Riley Leonard. And again he is just a rookie. However,
when it was put to me about you know Rivers

(01:55:41):
and it is costly because he has limitations, is you
know maybe you need multi quarterback wrinkles. I mentioned this
last night and people think I'm nuts, And I understand
why they think I'm nuts, because it is a dumb
ass idea. But as I mentioned before, any port in
a storm, I think you have to exhaust all options.

(01:56:01):
And if Rivers is the guy you trust, but we
have seen these incapable of getting chunk yardage down the field?
Are there ways and means you can utilize others? And
you know that's where all of a sudden I brought
up Anthony Richardson. Okay, so he may not be ready,
but to me, you can't be as boxed in offensively

(01:56:23):
as they clearly were yesterday, because not only you are
close and that's great, but well, the defense of the
offense play most of that game as they did yesterday
on Monday night at a similar level. And then San
Francisco is going to see all this and digest it
and say, just like Seattle did in the second half,

(01:56:45):
you know what, you guys can't throw it down the field.
We are going to suffocate you offensively right here. That's
what the Seahawks did in the second half. And that's
what concerns me. That's why I say, you know, I
don't know if there is a lot of really wild,
bad ideas at this point for this team. I mean,
you're eight and six, you're reeling, Like I said, exhaust

(01:57:06):
all options at least I would.

Speaker 4 (01:57:09):
I mean, Rightley leonard Is, I mean Notre Dame.

Speaker 16 (01:57:12):
So he's a smart dude. He's got the athletic ability.
He played in the National Championship Game last year. He's
got some big game experience. Put him out there, see
what he can do next year. Use it.

Speaker 1 (01:57:24):
Well, I don't even care if I'm fine gonna You're
going to go with rivers, and that's fine, but I
just think you have to add a little bit more.
And I'm sure that they won't and they'll play this
per usual, but I think it's going to be a
mistake and I think San Francisco will take advantage of it.
And listen, they may end up losing anyway, and maybe

(01:57:45):
that's just where we are. But I just thought it
was clearly yesterday what you didn't have, and that was
major costly and why you lost that game. Sure, the
bad kickoff after the group he make from sixty, and
then the bad defense letting them go down the fee,
but it was also the fact that you didn't do
anything offensively in the second half. Seattle was onto your program,

(01:58:08):
and then San Francisco is going to be defensively even
more onto it. Again. I would exhaust all options. If
I were Shane Steichen right now, do I think he
will do that? Probably not. I mean, he thinks he
can out smart the room anyway, so this will be
the ultimate outsmarting of the room right here. But it's
just clear to me that this offense is going to

(01:58:28):
be limited with rivers out there. And if that's who
you trust and that's who you're going with, you have
to think. I think of other means and measures to
take on Monday night against San Francisco.

Speaker 5 (01:58:38):
Got to do something to shake it up.

Speaker 16 (01:58:40):
What else you got, Eric, Well, that's that was what
was on my mind, been on my mind since yesterday.

Speaker 1 (01:58:46):
I appreciate you man, Eric, thank you very much for
the call. Enjoy your day tomorrow, John, I can't wait tomorrow.
Peter Billingsley four point thirty tomorrow. They're going to change
up that time again. I'm mentioning this about nineteen different times.
I think Ralphie from a Christmas Story and I will
call the Mirah and my friend Jimmy Hendrix, I believe,

(01:59:07):
is going to have some tickets. They're having a screening
of the nineteen eighty three Christmas classic A Christmas Story
at the Mirah Egyptian Room on Thursday, and Peter Billingsley
Ralphie is going to be there to watch with you
and for a Q and A after Peter Billingsley had

(01:59:30):
an incredible career as a young actor and then kind
of disappeared. If you remember, Peter Billingsley was also Messy
Marvin and a host of the Hershey chocolate syrup commercials
back in the eighties actually late seventies and early eighties.
But when they offered Peter Billingsley up, I thought, yeah, really,

(01:59:53):
he never does anything media wise, He's going to join us.
At four point thirty coming up tomorrow, Dan Wetzel talks
college football and the Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza conversation
plus the college football Playoff. I think I got to
check with my guys. I think from IU, I think
this is an Isaiah Jones week, the defensive player that

(02:00:16):
was so good in that Big Ten title game against
Ohio State. I think Isaiah Jones going to join us
coming up later on this week though, So tomorrow Twin
peaks in Greenwood Thursday on the road at Coaches Tavern downtown.
That's a larceny bourbon locks and Luna Zuel tequila shots
Thursday and coming at you on Friday. Back there again.

(02:00:37):
We're on Pendleton Pike. I don't think we went to
that location a year ago. I think we hit up
the Southport location. But Whiskey Business one of our favorites
Pendlton Pike, bud Light Blue Friday Monday Night football tickets
on Friday, we are going to be at Whiskey Business
on Pendleton Pike. I'll also have some Bullseye pads for

(02:01:00):
you later on this week as well, so sit tight
for that, especially for Monday. And Kyle Cannet wanted me
to remind you they have Rose Bowl tickets, So if
you're looking for Rose Bowl tickets bullseyeeventgroup dot com. I'll
remind you of that and give you a chance to
win passes. Coming up on tomorrow's show and the rest
of the week as well. The stream of the app
HD Radio Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube live and

(02:01:21):
by the way, let us know how you're thinking about
the new studio. I think it's great. I absolutely love it.
Here new studio for the first time for me during
this show in here you can check that out. Triple
A Membership Lounge via YouTube live, and tell us what
you think. Tell us what you think about the Colts
quarterback play not only yesterday, but who should be getting

(02:01:45):
some snaps coming up on Monday night against Frisco. We'll
do that with you coming up on the other side.
Closing out the show. The stream of the app HD
Radio Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube live. It's ninety
three to five and one oh seven by the Fan.

Speaker 5 (02:02:03):
The Ride with JMV.

Speaker 1 (02:02:05):
Anybody needed a victory? I think we have to start again.

Speaker 7 (02:02:14):
Ninety three five and one oh seven five the Fan,
No we miss you, Robin Miller, uh SkyPoint and an
RP to one of our favorites Loss last night in
Rob Reiner.

Speaker 1 (02:02:33):
Hmm, not only one of my favorite films, but my
kid's favorite film. You know, to have multi generational impact,
how difficult that is. I mean, look at me, I'm
like pigeonholed into like three years of the nineteen eighties
and that's about it. But just an incredibly awful assad However,

(02:03:00):
you want to describe a story that started last night
or yesterday afternoon in fact, in southern California, in Britainwood, California,
at the home of Rob and Michelle Reiner stand by
Me from nineteen eighty six. Now, I will say this,

(02:03:21):
This was my nineteen eighty seven prom song.

Speaker 13 (02:03:28):
That was stand by Me.

Speaker 3 (02:03:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:03:31):
And it's not like I don't mind that song, but
that's not prom song stuff. Yeah, it's not.

Speaker 13 (02:03:38):
I agree.

Speaker 1 (02:03:39):
I I was actually on the prom committee and for
whatever reason, It's not like anybody wanted to listen to
my musical influences as possibilities. But I had. I had
two songs that I had said, these should be all

(02:04:00):
our prom songs, our prom dance songs, shake You Down
by Gregory Abbott and Love You Down by Ready for
the World.

Speaker 13 (02:04:15):
I think it's impressive that you still remember this, because.

Speaker 1 (02:04:18):
Because it pisses me off is why we're still pissed.

Speaker 13 (02:04:21):
My problem was far more recently than yours, and I
could not go on in my head. You couldn't. I
could not tell you what was played that day.

Speaker 1 (02:04:29):
No, yeah, Benny King and stand by Me. That version
was played in eighty seven and in eighty eight, I
swear to the worst was because everybody was in love
with dirty dancing. I had the time of my life.

Speaker 13 (02:04:46):
No, not a fan of that one.

Speaker 1 (02:04:49):
No, I mean come on, I wanted to get into
some really good slow gemish R and B. I mean,
can you stand the rain by new addition, when Heartbeat
came out, why couldn't we have done that? I mean,
how I know these great ideas and I got out
voted by that?

Speaker 13 (02:05:11):
Is this what led to you doing the JMV takeover?
Is this long held grudge about that?

Speaker 1 (02:05:15):
This is what led to me? And this could be
incredibly wrong, but I happen to think among those that
select and DJ up music, I think that there are
very few out there that are better than I about
doing that.

Speaker 13 (02:05:31):
Seriously, I mean, you're probably not wrong.

Speaker 1 (02:05:33):
And I'm talking about programmers from radio stations from here
across the country, you guys, and I know you guys
would want to, but you couldn't hold my jock. I
don't blame you if you don't want to.

Speaker 13 (02:05:48):
That's an image.

Speaker 1 (02:05:50):
There's just no way because especially with three decades in mind, seventies, eighties,
and nineties. Yeah, I do get cloudy into the two thousands,
but with those particular three decades, there is nobody, and
I mean different genres, all genres, there's zero competition. I

(02:06:11):
feel very confident in stating that making that claim. But yeah,
the Rob Ronders story is one of great sadness because
he did bring us so much, from all in the
family to writing, directing, acting. That is a incredibly sad

(02:06:38):
and certainly iconic loss. Danny writes this, did you know
that the Mutt is closing its doors? On January? The one?
I did, and I wanted to give a shout out.
Mike Manley's one of my favorite all time dudes, and
also tenth and Schadlin at Manley's Irish Mutt one of
my favorite all time places. And it is true it

(02:07:02):
is closing, and with that that makes me sad. But
we've talked about that certainly before and as Mike Manley
told me I via text, they had a tremendous run.
But we are going to miss Manly's Irish Mutt. I
know Jack Doyle will the former Colts tied end two,

(02:07:23):
but we're going to miss the Mutt. A great deal,
but a job well done. Everybody over at tenth and
Chadland and in particular Mike Manley just a great guy,
a great atmosphere, and we need more like that, not less,
we need to be able to sustain places like that.

Speaker 5 (02:07:43):
Around here.

Speaker 1 (02:07:46):
Not see them eliminated. Shane Steikin said earlier today that
Philip River's ability to lead a more vertical offense is
something he believes in. So hey, maybe this conversation, this
dialogue I've had today is unnecessary. Maybe they'll find a
niche to be able to get those chunk plays, to

(02:08:06):
be able to get it down the field. Philip Rivers
is your starting quarterback on Monday Night as the Colts
next up host San Francisco. Anthony Richardson is medically cleared. Now,
we still don't know. We talked to Stephen Holder a
little bit earlier that podcast at one oh seven five
thefan dot Com. We don't really know what that means

(02:08:27):
according to Stephen, but he has been cleared medically. Whether
or not that means he returns to practice or is
going to be an option before the end of the season,
we shall see. And the playoff hopes for the Colts,
they still have it if they win two of the
final three. I know what you feel, I know how

(02:08:51):
you're feeling about this eight and sixth group right now,
but it does still remain that they have options. Oh
I love it. JMV. You're thinking very much. You are
so not overtoting your horn on being the best DJ
out there. My wife and I absolutely love Saturday night

(02:09:11):
in the summer with the convertible top down, just jamming
to what you spin there. You go, Hey, I don't
get the opportunity to do that very much. But if
you have a station out there and you want people
to left program that bad Boy for you, let me
tell you three decades, but I'll program it for you.

(02:09:33):
Dan Wetzel tomorrow talks about the phenomenon that is Fernando Mendoza,
the great speech, the Heisman Trophy win, and then the
Hoosiers in the college football playoff. Dan Wetzel, Oh yeah,
maybe even Michigan's head coaching search too. Speaking of soap operas,
that one up there, Whoop Jerroad More Dan Wetzel Tomorrow.

(02:09:54):
Peter Billingsley Ralphie from a Christmas Story live screening at
the Mira National Center inside the Egyptian Room on Thursday.
Ralphie Peter Billingsley, the actor, joins us on the show tomorrow.
Greg Rakesdraw two live from Twin Peaks. I'm going to
turn fifty six and we're all going to have a
hell of a time doing that. Tomorrow Twin Peaks in Greenwood,

(02:10:15):
we started three James, great job out of you, Steven Holder, callers, listeners,
the new studio, Thank you all, Colts Roundtable coming at
