Speaker 1 (00:10):
And where we go here? Anything you have a chance
against us?
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Mister cowboy?
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Hey, what do you like to do?
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (00:19):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Play chess?
Speaker 4 (00:21):
Screw swell, there's play chess. They give off the Jonathan
Taylor chuck cutting its way clock of the goal line.
Speaker 5 (00:27):
He's in there, puts down andde why Jonathan Taylor reeler
finds here's.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
Halliker into the front, poor mishandled it mcgin's any shots it? John?
I have never been bedroom to be on the air
with you here in Indianapolis, a place where so many
of my dreams have come true.
Speaker 6 (00:51):
The ride with jmvy on ninety three five and one
oh seven five.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
The fans O, damn, Frank, that's a good idea. I'll
let you hang around here for the next three hours
talk about a lot of things. Jake and I were
discussing the sad news and the world of entertainment. A
generational x icon right there, Malcolm Jamal Warner. That is
incredibly I know too that a lot of people and
for good reason. I guess I don't know so much
(01:16):
about the show, but certainly regarding the personality himself, you
viewed the Cosby Show much differently now than you did
back in its heyday. But Malcolm Jamal Warner was a
huge part if you're a member of Generation X of
our existence. That was elite level, elite level character for
(01:36):
Generation X that has passed away at the age of
fifty four. All Right, we do have a lot to
talk about the WNBA All Star weekend. I will say
this again, and there was a political stance made. And
don't suggest at all I'm trying to make a political
stance at all in this. I just know because I
knew the JMV takeover every Saturday night and then I'll
(01:58):
roll out at one o'clock or so, maybe a little
bit before, and I have seen the chaos is everybody
is everywhere with really no general reason to be down there,
especially those that are significantly underage, and it's chaos. It
(02:19):
is you come out and you get scooters and they
go on every which direction and you're trying not to
run over anybody, and it's it is. And the thing
that I noticed, maybe more so for being downtown than
anything else over the weekend was man that was like
more like it. I'm not suggesting people underage can't come downtown,
(02:41):
but when you're talking about one am. If they're my
daughter's age or whatever. Younger, you don't need to be
down there, and there's nothing going on down there for
you unless you're twenty one or older. Unless you're a
really secure ID, it's fake. I don't mean really nothing zero.
So I thought this weekend, I don't know if there
(03:04):
can be a game plan a blueprint from it, if
you can take from that and play off of it.
But I thought that that was more like it. And
it's not just the younger generation I should get on here.
I mean, jack assery really knows no ageless. It's ageless,
and it's bound it's bound less, I should say in
this case. But I on this weekend it was fun
(03:27):
as hell Downtown. I thought Downtown per usual and Indy
had a fantastic look. I thought the look of Downtown
and the interaction and the excitement of that, and the
IB Summer celebration, I thought that both taking place at
one time. And I will even say this, take it easy, Jake,
with all of the construction that's going on. And I
(03:50):
was just a bit pissy about that last week a
couple of different times, going hey man, every road's closed.
But I thought it was pretty easy to get around.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
I didn't get.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
Caught in anything. Now it's just me and my observation.
I thought Downtown and the celebration of one fantastic summertime
Central Indiana weekend was a hell of a lot better
than the All Star Game itself. And let's face it,
other than the Major League Baseball Star Game, there are
(04:24):
very few, if any other exceptions to games that have
significant challenges going on within them, meaning not just a
lot of half assing. Now there's a lot of half
assing going on there was, and the whole rock and
Jock four point format a I dig I would want
(04:45):
to pull up from four point It's not like I'd
want to pull up from four point range. But I
don't think anybody would have want to watch it, And
you know, outside of a make and outside of maybe
those first couple of times you go, okay, this is tired.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Now.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Believe me, I was. It was on and I didn't
get to really soak up at all. But you could
just kind of tell that that WNBA All Star Game
was very much so like the NBA All Star Game.
We were searching for a reason to just kind of
hang out because it isn't even a glorified pickup game.
(05:24):
They just like the NBA. You look for reasons, and frankly,
I don't know how many reasons there might be out there,
but overall that really didn't matter to me. Now, obviously
it was a point with the pregame t shirts for
all the players to wear. Yeah, Kelsey plume Plum, what's
(05:48):
her name, Kelsey Plum? Why she got such an issue
with Caitlin Clark? A little bit of jealousy. I know
that there's a great deal of jealousy across the board,
but dang, trying to tattletale here. But let me go
ahead and tattletale here. I mean, at least Caitlin Clark
was actually in a meeting with the commissioner. I'm gonna
(06:10):
tell you this, and right or wrong, Kaitln Clark is
really holds the key to what the rest of the
individuals in this league want out of all this. Hey,
Kaitlin Clark is the key master. Like it or not,
(06:32):
and I know many don't like it, evidently, but she
is the key master because you saw a significant change.
We rarely have ever talked about it. And then she
gets here and now we're probably wearing you out on it.
I know it wears me out on it, but we
probably do wear you out. And believe me, I'm all four.
(06:55):
I'm all four. When your contracts up and you feel
that you deserve a raise, then go out and get it.
I don't know about who chose, you know what exactly
was being said, like the whole oh, I mean, just
a form of solidarity to me would have been good enough.
I don't necessarily know if you need to to try
(07:16):
to make that profound of a statement. What I would
do if I were those in the WNBA and this
is what I wanted out of it, I would just
get behind the key master and let the key master
go to work. Because this is all transpired in the
past little over a year. Has it not the level
(07:36):
of interest? When she comes to town the Fever Cup
to town, you go from playing in somebody's auxiliary gym
to playing in an arena. When she leaves town, you
go back to playing in somebody's auxiliary gym, and like it,
(07:57):
loathed lumpet, or better yet, maybe just go ahead and
ride with it. I know some things may feel unfair,
and there is that competitive balance, but you can always
satisfy that on the floor. Just go out and try
to whip a little ass. Let's go out and play.
(08:19):
But this is for the betterment of you and everybody else.
I would get behind the key Master. Now I know
Jeremi Wheatley gives me the key Master. That was the
Rick moranis character I believe in Ghostbusters, right, I'm thinking
more the key Master. If you remember this as well,
this is another generational ex reference here. This is from
(08:43):
Say Anything with John Cusack was the key Master. Remember
at his senior party, the key Master and the bag
full of car keys. But I just I would get
behind Caitlin Clark and let them understand. Okay, right now,
right now, she is the captain of the ship. And
(09:07):
if you don't like it, I love it. I will
say this, Kelsey plumb, right. I don't mind that there
is there's some rivalry. I don't mind that part. It
is kind of funny and I think that she has
positioned herself in this. And by the way, what I'm
(09:29):
talking about is you know, making comments about why when
she was asked, they were wearing the shirts, the pregame shirts,
and she took a swipe. And again, any time you
bring up Kaitlyn Clark. There's gonna be like one side
that's gonna go, oh my goodness, I can't believe you
mentioned it took a swipe in Kaitlyn Clark, and the
other side's going to say, well, you know what, she's
(09:50):
not teflon here, you can take shots. It's just it's
something that's not going to go away soon. But I
have no problem. It seems to me like those that
have the biggest problem and who knows if they're going
to get when you put oh on that shirt. What
happens is that everybody's going to go, well, wait a minute,
(10:12):
the NBA has paid for you all these years, now
you owe them, and then everything is going to get twisted.
So I would have tried my damnedest to go with
somebody that was really bright to not get what you
want twisted up, because it doesn't take that much in
this era of social media in which we live to
(10:32):
twist and turn and really have something that that you
you want really out there get completely lost in translation.
Like I think I understand they they want to be
paid to a level in which directionally speaking, they feel
their league is going meaning they have a new television
contract is not going to be for crap anymore. It
(10:56):
is a new television contract, and you see that and
your benefits of Caitlin Clark's last year plus in the league.
You look at it all that you know the level
of interest, The interest wasn't there. And I will also
argue this that it was perfect for them to be
here because to me, and I know that I'm biased
(11:16):
as hell, and that's okay, but the interest here was
going to be much more profound at a much higher
level than it would have any place else. Let's face it,
you hold the WNBA All Star weekend right now when
you want this message heard in Atlanta and nobody gives
a crap. You got nineteen different things going on there.
(11:38):
Just have the All Star game?
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (11:40):
Where else? Dallas?
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (11:41):
Who cares? It's not going to fly really anywhere else
other than right here. And oh, by the way, you
have that bond between the Fever and the Pacers as
a part of Pacer sports entertainment. So really it was perfect,
a perfect time to make a statement, but I would
(12:03):
be I'd be careful about how you would want toward it,
because you don't want to get this twisted. And I'm
all for it, and I want to get back to
what I was going to say. It seems like that
a lot of people that are offended by it more
so than anything else, are those that probably don't watch anyway.
And that's a scary proposition where you're talking about, you know,
(12:25):
locking out or you are not playing or sitting it
out or whatever you end up doing because you don't
want to see people find something else to do.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
You just don't.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
Like MLB years ago. You know, you don't really want
to see people forget about your product and move on,
do you. So it to me is an interesting dynamic,
interesting way they decided to play it out with the
T shirts, but certainly the message was heard. And as
I mentioned, I would fill the pied piper in this
(13:01):
case like I'm the pied piper of fun. I realize that,
and that's just the truth of it. There are a
lot of things I will own that I don't know
a damn thing about, but having some fun is something
that I am a Rhodes scholar, and following Caitlin Clark
down whatever path right now of competition and compensation for
(13:23):
that competition is exactly what I would do. But that's
just me, and I know that there's a hell of
a lot more to it, and I know a lot
of people are just going to put their hands up
and say, oh hell, there's another argument we can have
right here. I can just go ahead and start firing
away on social media, act like this is the Jerry
(13:43):
Springer Show globally. I don't think you want to get
caught up in any of that foolishness. That's me. But
I will say this, I think there are I think
we all kind of look ourselves in the mirror, don't
we go yeah, I deserve a raise, I'm not good.
(14:03):
Let's I look at the mire and go yeah. I mean,
does my commercials play out here? I yes, exactly. So
I think we've all and I mean, no matter what
you do, you've been down this path before. Interesting dynamic.
We will continue. We don't necessarily have to continue. It's weird, right.
I think these are kind of pseudo political angles, and
(14:26):
I really don't want to get caught up in the
muck of it. But I certainly did have an opinion
on both. That is the way that the downtown looked,
because I was extremely proud of the way that it looked,
and I just wanted to look like that all the time,
and not all the jackasser that goes on that I
certainly see.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
On.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
This weekend was fantastic with the All Star game, with
the IB Summer celebration, I had an absolute blast inside
James what is going to be? It was like a
soft opening the brand new Clayton's Country Bar in the
old hard rock perfect Downtown. I'm not even a country guy.
(15:06):
And by the way, one of my new really good
friends is Dirk Bentley. Did we know this. I did
not know a Dirk's Bentley song before we met in
the back room at Big Red Liquors on Sunday morning.
I had no idea. But he's a good dude.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Really.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
Yeah, we get along. Well, good to know you know
the thing I said, I said, I see your rocking
thirty one waist Levi's right there, and I got really
jealous of that.
Speaker 7 (15:30):
Well, now you have a new goal again.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
I went home immediately like Seinfeld and scratched off the
two and made it into a one on mine. I went, day,
come on, man, because I think he's in his fifties too,
but he was a hell of a guy. It's weird, right,
This is something that I love to do. And you
probably can tell. But I love to meet people, I
love to hang out with people, and I love being
(15:54):
a part of a different audience. So I'm there with
Mindy Winkler, who is primarily she's a part of this building,
certainly primarily on Hank FM. And I don't know a
damn thing about this era, this day and age of
country nothing. And I know some of the names, and
really the only country music I know is because Clayton
(16:14):
Anderson is my really good friend and I like hanging
out with him. But I learned a little bit about
Dirk Bentley. He's a good guy. Now all these country
guys good guys like that too, because we bonded immediately.
He's signing all these bottles. I think I didn't mention
this in front of Brent Holverson because you know, obviously
I'm very loyal to the brand. But I think Dirk's
(16:37):
Bentley's called Road ninety four. Oh yes, and we may
or may not have at Paradise, Dave Watson had some
shots of Road ninety four yesterday. Because I did take
home a bottle, as per usual.
Speaker 7 (16:51):
I think Brent can make an exception this one.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Yeah, well, if you noticed, because you're the part of
the show. On Friday, I mentioned that I'm going to
be with or expenally a big red Laquors in Greenwood
on Saturday. But if you go back and check the tape,
there was never a mention of the Burbot a very
Nascar like, well played very Nascar like right there. But
now he was an extremely good dude. I know a
(17:14):
lot of you went to his show at RUOPH on
Saturday night and I got introduced and it ran for
the first time with the JAMV takeover. I Got Drunk
on a Plane is the song I Got Drunk on
a Plane. I don't really get it. I think he
got left at the altar. Not really, but in the song,
(17:36):
the dude got left at the altar, so he was
washing away his sorrows while getting drunk on a plane.
Speaker 7 (17:42):
I gotcha. Yeah, I don't really need an excuse to
get drunk now, and I.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
Just got Well. See the problem I have is I
kind of I have a sickness going up and going down,
which you can laugh about that all you want later,
make jokes out of it. But when I'm coming down
from a flight, for some reason, it doesn't I don't
do well with it interesting. I feel like I'm riding
in the tilted whirl at the Fun Frolic in Bloomington
back in nineteen eighty five.
Speaker 7 (18:06):
I just always get I just always get a little
bit nervous, and so a trip to the bar a
little hit me up on the flight, I'm good to go.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
I've always been a big fan of the airplane airplane
bottles though the airplane bottles those especially when they're glass,
not when they're plastic. I don't know if they make
any glass ones anymore, but the glass ones are badass,
just like the gatorade bottles, glass or badass. Those are
badass too.
Speaker 7 (18:27):
Glass is just a little bit classier than lass as.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Yeah, it just makes you feel like, yeah, there's some
there's something extra great about.
Speaker 7 (18:34):
The plastic makes me feel like I have a bit
of a problem.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Yeah it does. But no, Dirk's Bentley. Everybody is a
good dude and a new friend of this show right here.
It was great to meet so many of you, and
a lot of you are Hank FM listeners. That's the
country station within this building as well. But I've met
a lot of you down in Greenwood at US thirty
(18:57):
one and Fry Road at the cast Strength make Red
Liquors location and it was outstanding.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Man.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
It was great to see everybody and hang out with
you down there, So thanks a lot for that. And
with that we had I got drunk on a plane
requested on the JAMV takeover on Saturday night. Colt's camp
is underway officially, Rookies report tomorrow. Everybody in coming up
on Wednesday. Now I don't know our schedule. James may
be able to find our schedule. We're only going to
(19:25):
go when they're practicing within or leading up to, or
through our time window, because otherwise you basically sit under
a tent by yourself for three hours and that's not great.
But when we're up there and they're having, for example,
or preparing for a night practice, it's pretty awesome. So
(19:45):
we shall be up there. I know the other shows,
both the Morning Show and then Jake will be up
there all week long because of the I don't know
what the h the temperatures are going to do, if
anything whatsoever for them hanging outside, but it should be
a great time. Enjoy it at Grand Park because it
is officially back and for a lot of people out there,
(20:07):
this will also mark what it will mark the end
of summer. It is weird. It just gets quicker and quicker,
shorter and shorter. Whether you're working or certainly if you
have kids in school, it is about time to hustle
(20:28):
everybody's ass back to school. This is really when the
Colts Camp begins. It almost is the official ending of summer.
Now we'll still fire it up on the weekends, but
the whole weekly, the thing kind of goes out the
window without a doubt. I will talk about that. Stephen
Holder is going to join us, and they had their
report late last week about Anthony richardson business as usual
(20:51):
for him. I will talk to Stephen coming up at
the five o'clock out the Brickyard four hundreds coming up
on Sunday. Joey Logano eleven in points team Penske. He's
going to join us, coming up I think at the
four o'clock hour, sometime between four and four thirty for
Joey Logano for us. His six hundredth career NASCAR start
(21:14):
was yesterday in Dover, so six oh one coming up
on Sunday. From what I gather, and that is the
Brickyard four hundred. We'll talk about that. Joey Logano's going
to join us from Team Penske. One win this season,
eleventh in the points standings right now for Legano. Sometime
(21:36):
at the four o'clock hour, I mentioned this to Jay
because I know he had Pat Knight on the show.
Bob Hamill passed away. Bob Hamill for me and for
those that grew up just like me, that you were
an avid reader daily of the either Bloomington Herald Telephone
or the Bloomington Herald Times, you know of his work,
(21:56):
You knew of his relationship with Bob Knight, I knew
all all the riders. Just really awesome. Once upon a time.
We haven't talked to him forever because he does a
lot of political stuff. Once upon a time I remember
a Byeline because he worked there for a minute or two.
Jason Whitlock was at the Bloomington Herald Times. But the
(22:19):
names like Andy Graham and Lenz Howser and Rex Kurtz,
but certainly Bob Hamil was at the top of that
list and synonymous with Bob Knight, and I you basketball
and Bob Hamill passed away. That was learned yesterday. Hey,
one quick thing before I hit a break and come
(22:39):
back your calls at two three nine ten seventy the
email addresses Jay and via one oh seventy five thefan
dot Com inside the Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube live.
I'm always on the lookout for excellent content and programming.
HBO has a new documentary on Billy Joel. That is,
I don't care if you don't like Billy Joel. Give
me a great example. And I didn't take my cue
(23:00):
from step Brothers. But I'm not the biggest fan of
eighties Billy Joel, especially later eighties like the Nylon Curtain,
I can get with. I guess glass Houses for the
most part. Also is the very early like around nineteen
eighty I can get with the Nylon Curtain. An innocent man.
(23:22):
Why I liked it when it was released when I
was like fourteen fifteen years old. It may wear you
out a little bit with that whole dew wop thing. Now,
I haven't seen the eighties Joel represented yet, but you
did see the sixties and seventies Billy Joel, and it
is excellent work by HBO. I think Tom Hanks is
(23:44):
an executive producer. It is outstanding. I saw it yesterday
one of those things where I thought, all right, I'm
gonna I'm gonna go ahead and watch this, James, I'm
gonna watch it until they explained the Piano Man. We
knew what went on behind the seventy three classic Piano Man.
I'm gonna stay here into the Piano Man, and then
I ended up going all the way through glasshouses. I
(24:04):
almost worked my way up, but then it ended to
his divorce and his relationship with Christy Brinkley, and then
obviously the whole fifties du Wop coming back in an
Innocent Man. But you have an eighties Joel coming up
represented I'm assuming in episode number two. But it is
an outstanding documentary for those of you that are looking
(24:24):
for quality programming at this point in time outside of
Shark Week, which is officially underway right now on the
Discovery Channel. Right two, three, nine, ten to seventy is
that number? Email the Dresses jmv A one oh seven
five thefan dot Com Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube live.
Hopefully if you were at Dirk's Bentley on Saturday, you
(24:45):
took advantage as a Triple A member of the great
perks that they have, including the Premiere Lounge. You are
missing out right now become a Triple A member that
got your back on the open Road. But also you
get perks at ru Off Symphony on the Prairie with
the Indians and more the Triple A Membership Lounge with
my friends Matt and Matt. That is Triple A dot Com.
(25:08):
To become a member today now two three nine ten seven,
he calls it more coming up the stream of the app.
It's AHD Radio and ninety three to five and one
oh seven five.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
The Fan.
Speaker 6 (25:19):
Jesus is the best three six y five command center.
Get your race updates here all month long and make
sure to enter for your chance to win five hundred
dollars by predicting the winner of this year's race. On
July twenty seventh, two to one oh seven five the
Fan dot Com to winter. Now here's your twenty twenty
five race update, brought to you by Bet three six five.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Yeah, Cookie Monsters, the Grand Marshal Rick are four hundred
coming up this weekend and dover on the concrete yesterday
Denny Hamlin was your winner. They had a late rain
delay if you watch that, and then they had wheepers
on the track got that thing dry had a couple
of reps in the overtime, and then it was Denny
(26:02):
Hemlin with the win, Joey Logano eleventh and the points
standings joins us coming up at the four o'clock. Our
rick y'ad four hundred weekend is upon us, coming up
this weekend, and we'll keep you updated right here. Ninety
three to five and one oh seven five Fan.
Speaker 6 (26:19):
The Ride with JMV.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
The only time I have my radio on is in
my car, and the only thing I listened to is JMB.
Speaker 6 (26:27):
Ninety three five and one oh seven five the Fan,
the legendary reporter's voice right there.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
And one of the reasons why I listens. Oh, my
good friend Dirk's Bentley. What year is the song? First
time I heard it was last weekend twenty fourteen. It's
(26:58):
nine years old. It's first time i've heard it.
Speaker 7 (27:01):
Well, actually it's eleven years old.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
Oh I'm sorry. Yeah, I can't do math either. It's
okay telling you I can't do math, and I'm not
very bright, but I know I'm the pied Piper. Are fun?
That's good enough. I mentioned too in a shout out
to my new good friend Derk's Mentley hanging out on Saturday.
That was a hell of a time. One of the
reasons why I'm assuming the Redporter listens every day is
for me to butcher names and I don't have the
(27:25):
official pronunciation in front of me. And hopefully before I
get a chance to talk to him, maybe Colts can't.
Certainly during the season is rookie defensive end JT Tuamalo.
Hopefully I'm in the ballpark right there. Four years nine
point nine four to two million, so eighty eight percent
(27:47):
of it guaranteed, I think, is what Mike Chapel said
to the Colts had cut that loose. That was actually
reported over the weekend, and the Colts made that official
a little bit earlier in this hour. In fact, Sam
writes this JMV. Give Joey Logano a shout out for
always taking time for fans. I go to the brickyard
(28:08):
every year, and Joey always signs autographs and takes pictures
when many NASCAR drivers do not. The other thing he does, Sam,
and hopefully is not famous last words, and he does
call into the four o'clock gallery always comes on the show.
I have no idea why somebody just says, I'm going
to hand you the phone and you start yapping to
(28:30):
this clown and there he goes off and running. JAMV.
Completely agree with you regarding downtown. I was proud with
everything that was going on. I thought it could not
have been any smoother, and I mean absolutely everything agreed.
That probably struck me more than anything else. And again
(28:55):
I've got that lean because coming out every Saturday night
slash Sunday morning, I see it all. It's not all
necessarily in centralized downtown. Most of it is. But I'll
give you a great example. When I'm driving home, I
go down Bluff and I'm always thinking, with these blinking
(29:16):
red and yellow lights, all right, so who is going
to blow through this intersection and t bone me? I
go through the intersections going down Bluff, I think it
with Troy and Hannah and Sumner. I go through there
as cautiously as possible, just for that reason. But I
(29:39):
completely agree with this weekend And that's the first thing
that I noticed, and not so much because you knew
you were going to get that on Friday afternoon when
I'm walking down to O'Reilly's and having that show, which
was an absolute swell time, but it was after that.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
It was later.
Speaker 4 (29:55):
It was later when everything was still vibrant. Everybody was
running around. But it was a hell of a time.
I always said this, there's nothing better than taking shots
on basketball goals. I mean brought back memories of gus
Macker out on Meridian, just a little south of Monument Circle.
They had the goals up. You know that plastic stuff
(30:17):
that they put together, kind of like a lego stuff.
You guys can make a miles turn of reference for me. Please,
you know I have stuff. What's it called is a parchment,
I don't know what it is. It's like flooring that
you used to play. It was on that was always
on the main court at gus Macker, and it was
unfortunate when it rained. It was the slickest stuff of
all time. But they had that stuff down. Everybody was
(30:43):
taking jumpers, multi goals. It was a good time with
some bad basketballs, don't get me wrong, but that's what
you have to do. Those basketballs would probably make you
when you had that voight when you were little, seem
like it was a top shelf basketball. But it was
a great time. I thought everything was fantastic, so well
(31:05):
done by everybody. I know there are a lot of volunteers,
but again that and IB Summer celebration, just it was fun.
That is the type of weekend. But I also want
to go ahead and point out that is more maybe
not for all the things that are going on, but
(31:25):
just for you know, the enjoyment. You know, even if
just the enjoyment of your eye. You want downtown to be,
you know like that. And what I mean like that
is without high levels and certain levels of jack AZERI
So I don't know if that was just that and
(31:47):
probably is just that special weekend when you know, they
make sure that they do it and do it upright.
But that's what maybe caught my interests more than the
warm up T shirts, you know, more than just an
All Star game, which is an exhibition where nobody plays
hard baseball is really the only one. And we saw
(32:12):
that last week and you end up throwing something that
is described as a gimmicky in But I enjoyed the
home run hitting contest, or the swing off as they
called it last Tuesday night in Atlanta. I mean, you
do kind of you go up there and you know
the pitcher wants to pitch, and you know, unless you're
(32:35):
who was it was it Channel Park. They gave that up,
that home run years ago to cal Ripkin Junior, and
it was like a big, fresh meat ball floating up
to the plate. Normally, the pitchers want to get you
as much as the hitters want to get you. And
as I mentioned with the Major League Baseball All Star Game,
for nothing else, in the swing off last week, you
(32:56):
could because they told you in the interviews before they
went out there and did it. But you could tell
that there was a level of nervousness because it was
new and unusual. Now all these people are watching for
the first time, and you didn't want to be the
one to blank it up. That part was cool to me,
(33:16):
and you could tell it also meant something. Yeah, with
the basketball ones, I don't know what you can do
with that.
Speaker 1 (33:25):
Now.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
They tried that the four point shot as much as
we all loved it in MTV Rock and Jock Basketball.
I remember the days when Jah Rule would step back
and shoot it from five to nine twelve point range.
But that doesn't work either, And you get that and
(33:47):
the statement that the players were trying to make. Here's
what I would suggest. I would suggest again as I
describe her as the key Master. Caitlin Clark is the
one that kind of like the Beverly Hillbillies, you know,
up from the ground. When she got to the WNBA,
(34:08):
up from the ground came the bubbling crude. That's where
everybody can strike it rich. But you have to be
able to handle it well. And there have been points
when you can consider that everybody maybe hasn't handled this well.
I said that from the outset. Don't blank this up.
You can't. You know, the same thing goes with Pacer
(34:31):
sports and entertainment and listen, I don't really have anything
in it. Yes, I love basketball, and you can't charge
me with well, you just want to make sure that
you can get them on the show. I can't remember
the last time when we had somebody from the Fever
on the show. I don't think James gets called back.
Do you ever get caught? So that's not it. I
(34:53):
just I recognize the circumstances. I'm all for trying to
better your situation, understand what is to come, but you
still have to be savvy about how you handle it.
And I think it's both sides here. I don't think
you automatically because you're maybe critical about the wording or
(35:16):
the text. I think it's okay to want to deliver
a message, but you have to be careful in how
that message is going to be interpreted. And I know
some will take full advantage of it anyway, regardless of
what you mean. But I think that does go both
ways and doesn't mean you're a hater of women or
(35:37):
athletics or you love it because you have an angle
and you want to get somebody on the show. It
means you understand what's going on. And I did understand
what was going on the whole. Pay us what you
owe us. I just wanted to see a form and
(35:58):
expected to see a form of solidarity. But if I'm
everybody from Kelsey Plumb to anybody else, I would go
ahead and play off of clearly the interest level that
has been sparked with Caitlin Clark. It's okay to have
rivalries too, because this is still, at the end of it,
(36:20):
all about competition. It always has to be, because that's
when you go away. That's why you go away from
All Star games. You go all this jacking around. Why
am I going to hang around for this? You could
even tell in the All Star Game? You know, once
it was realized that she wasn't going to participate, and
(36:40):
that's just a way that it is sometimes. I'm sure
to a degree, a lot of the NBA probably felt
the same way. I'm assuming to a much lower level,
but still a level right by Michael Jordan got sick
and tired of Jordan rules and all that. Both ways,
you know how you handle it, and you know then
(37:01):
how is portrayed by the NBA. But it didn't turn
out to be for the better. We shall see. That
was your weekend in a nutshell. But what stood out
to me was what I felt was job well done
for downtown, and man did downtown need it. Especially centralized
(37:24):
downtown I mean held down by the Alexander or over
a mass Ave, I mean you got you know a
lot of things popping Centralized Downtown would not be one
of them. A good weekend for it looked really good.
So well done to everybody involved. Well done. Joey Logano
Brickyard four hundred coming up this weekend. Joey's going to
(37:46):
join us at the four o'clock hour and Colt's Camp
Rookies report tomorrow. Everybody else coming up on Wednesday. It
is officially underway and I know everybody's got all their questions.
Stephen Holder joins us at the five o'clock hour, We're
going to go over all all of your questions, your
questions of interest, what can be done. It is really
(38:07):
weird that I have gone through the better part of
forty five minutes on this show without mentioning the Pacers.
On the other side. It's something that I think I
broke ground on prior to and I have reiterated this,
so it's not an original thought of mine. But I'll
(38:31):
get back to something because clearly the rest of the
NBA has decided to put this pacer team in twenty
five and twenty six to bed, I'm going to tell
you why that's a good thing. That is a professional tease.
We'll do that coming up on the other side, Sit
Tight ninety three to five, one oh seven five The Fan,
(38:55):
The Ride with JMV and You're nothing but a chameleon.
Had it in Tower Challenge and I'm got for you, buddy.
You're done, pay for it night.
Speaker 1 (39:05):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 6 (39:07):
Nutty three to five and one oh seven five The Fan.
Speaker 4 (39:13):
Yeah, I'm not gonna cross my fingers this with the
Reds two of three from the Mets over the weekend,
with the Nationals later on tonight. I know I've gotta
put up with Cubs fans like the Kenny family all
up my rear end about the second best record in
(39:33):
Major League Baseball being the Chicago Cubs. Look out for
the Brewers, by the way, Goodness may check out what
they're doing this, I think, and I know we haven't
discussed it too much. We've had so much stuff going on.
We haven't discussed major League Baseball and we don't do
(39:54):
a great deal of it anyway, but we'll fringe tap it.
This has been an incredible season. There are like the
Tigers have won sixty games to date, the Blue Jays
like stirring the echoes of George Bell, Domiso Garcia, Lloyd Mosby,
(40:20):
Jesse Barfield, god Rants, Mullinix, Dave, Steve, tom Hinkey, three
game advantage Al East Cubs and Brewers battling out like
I think the Reds have had. I wouldn't say a
(40:41):
fantastic here, but you know they are what four games
above five hundred seven and a half games back I
think a game and a half or so back in
that final wild card. But you do and you are
able to talk about some teams that you wouldn't necessarily
talk about Cal Rawley his season to date as a catcher,
(41:04):
really good baseball season so far. Be better. If my
squad can finally get up off the mat, we shall see.
I mentioned this as a tease. This is not an
original thought of mine. I bring it up all the
time I do. I have a great deal of confidence
in this Pacer team this season, not to get back
(41:25):
to the NBA Finals, not even to challenge for an
Eastern Conference finals, but to be a hell of a
lot better than everybody suggests. Because I don't know if
you've noticed this or not. So we're going to move
into a very quiet time. You have the Chris Paul
news going back for year number twenty one with the
Clippers today, but now it's going to be a very
quiet time in the NBA. We had this discussion on
(41:47):
a much higher level with Chad Buchanan going back a
week and a half ago. But it seems like that
everybody is just saying, ah, you know what, the season
like I saw somebody mention what a great year for
the Pacers to have a top five pick or a
top three pick. You think they're gonna be that bad.
(42:12):
This is like a Pacer fan, like a legitimate Pacer fanboy,
They're going.
Speaker 3 (42:20):
To be.
Speaker 4 (42:22):
In high lottery situation. Am I completely wrong about what
I see in this group? Without Haliburton for the entire
year and without Turner forever, I felt I've had a
pretty damn good gauge on it. When you start talking
(42:47):
lottery expectations, what a good you know? I'm sorry. That's
not good for anything. That sucks, And not only does
it suck, but to me, I just don't understand the
mentalenty here. That's how bad everybody believes. Now, I will
say this as I tease that going into the break,
(43:08):
I think this is beneficial for a PACER team that
normally does what that normally plays much better when they
are counted out. Oh we saw that how many times
this year? And I know that this coming year is
going to be much different than what we witness this
past year. But it does seem like that this group
(43:31):
has and will thrive with those that have little to
no belief in them. I don't know if it's a
trigger effect or what, but I dig it and I
know you do too, and that is absolutely perfect for
this market. In fact, the Colts could play a little
bit of a tune out of that. This season, they're
(43:53):
widely written off, and for good reason, because you just, hey,
I'll believe it when I see it. Two years ago
we said the same damn thing about the Pacers. But
it seems like you galvanize a fan base that with
the Colts right now, at best it is splintered. We
(44:13):
have excitement about the return of football, but it is
obviously splintered. And then you have a Pacer fan base
where some of you know, these so called fanboys, are
believing high lottery that would be great. I don't think
there's anything great that would mean that what we talked
about with this team and this team concept and what
(44:35):
has been built and what has been constructed, if you
are a high lottery selector, if that's the type of
season that you have, that is to me an elite
level disappointment. No Pacer conversation at a time when you're
probably not going to hear very much out of it.
(44:56):
Our golf outing is coming up and coming up relatively quickly.
I'll explain how you should and you better be involved
with us because it's going to be great. As we
get closer and closer to the month of August. Joey
Logano is scheduled to call us coming up here in
the next thirty or so minutes as well. Stephen Holder
coach camp opens up for the rookies tomorrow, official report
(45:18):
on Wednesday, and then here we go. That is more two, three, nine,
ten seventy your calls on the other side. Yeah, Nathaniel
has a great point. I'll double back to that, coming
up two, Joey Logano, Stephen Holder. Don't go anywhere Notty
three five one oh seven five fan.
Speaker 6 (45:39):
The ride with JMV.
Speaker 5 (45:42):
Hey, my fuddy ching steam ahead over there.
Speaker 4 (45:46):
I want to go over there.
Speaker 6 (45:49):
Watching I'm driving Nutty three five and one oh seven
five the fan Joey Logano in about twelve minutes from now,
eleventh in and.
Speaker 4 (46:02):
Cut points Team Penske. I'm assuming they don't. I wonder
with Team Penske in different driving leagues or disciplines, if
you will, if there's discussion on how one team is doing,
for example, in NASCAR, or how another team is doing
(46:25):
an open wheel. Because this has been an absolute disastrous
open wheel season and IndyCar for Team Penske, has it
not see Jake would be better to answer this question
because he certainly covers it. He is an historian of it.
He could take us beyond the bricks at a moment's notice.
(46:48):
But has Team Penske ever had a season as bad
as There's no way and it's so bad that you
don't even get good luck? Fuck, it's misfortune around every turn.
It is absolutely incredible. This is an old school reference
(47:12):
that you, as a member of Generation X and those
older will get. And I probably utilize this reference too much,
but it's kind of like the Brady Bunch when they
go to Hawaii and you have that little idol that's
bad luck, and everything bad luck keeps having like that
sound effect. I play it sometimes on Saturday Night of
the Bad Luck Tiki. That's like Team Penske and anything
(47:37):
they do right now, the bad Luck Tiki. But it
just occurred to me if the saying under the same
Team Penske name plate, if you ever say, well, what's
going on in IndyCar maybe not just wonder that after
(48:01):
yesterday in Toronto, Laguna's sake, by the way for Indy
Carr this weekend, the Brickyard four hundred and the Brickyard weekend.
I would be remiss if I didn't bring this up.
Because my man be near Brian near Indiana. Farm Bureau
Insurance wanted to make sure that everybody knew that the
best race among the races around would be that of
the Truck Series at Lucas Oil on Friday night. And
(48:26):
I will say this, I have long standing been a
tremendous fan of the races at Lucas Oil. I loved
it when the Bush Series. When the Bush Series was there,
it was great because you get dudes racing around, and
of course on that small track, they're bumping in every moment,
They're just bumping and running into one another. And I
(48:48):
love it because I'm in the infield watching and I
forget who this was. It was somebody green. It was
an older dude, last named Green, and he wasn't a
back marker. But he wasn't very good or successfull. I
shouldn't say good. He wasn't having a great level of success.
(49:09):
My man got somebody ran into him, so he pulls
into the infield, gets out. A crew member throws him
a ballpeen hammer and he goes underneath his car, sucks hammering,
hang out the side molding. This is awesome, so be near.
You are right about the racing over there, it is.
(49:31):
It is fun, no doubt. But that is a big weekend.
We're not too far away from the ninety three to
five and one oh seven five the Fan Invitational Golf
Outing presented by Franciscan Health. That's Thursday, August the seventh.
Do you have your squad together? Just yet? Tea time
ten am Legends Golf Club down in Franklin. Many of
(49:55):
you have watched the video I created. Many of you
have suggested how much I sucked. Thank you very much.
Now we're all going to be there hanging out for
a great cause. But it is going to be a blast. Again.
I don't take part in anything knowingly, and if I do,
it's kicking and screaming. That is not fun. And I promise,
(50:20):
much like Caitlin Clark should pied piper all those in
the WNBA to a much better deal or at least
somewhere in the vicinity of what they want contractually moving forward.
She should pied Piper. That just allow me to pied piper.
You to the fun and this would be it. I
(50:42):
don't care if you don't play golf I don't care
if you're not any good at golf, but it's about
the fun. You can also get yourself checked up there
with Franciscan. That is enjoyable too, so you'll find out
about your health. Hopefully all good things. Play some golf,
win some stuff, eat, drink great time. August the seventh,
(51:03):
ten am the Legends Golf Club in Franklin. Man, if
you haven't, what are you waiting on?
Speaker 3 (51:09):
Do it?
Speaker 4 (51:11):
Legends Golf Club in Franklin, Sign up right now. One
oh seven five thefan dot com. I mentioned Joey Lecgonald's
going to join us coming up in the next five minutes.
This is from Nathaniel. I was mentioning the Pacers and
how everybody has simply put been rotting them off, and
even their own fans, their fanboys are remarking about how
great it would be. Can you imagine a top five
(51:34):
lottery selection? What a great year to be bad? And
I don't get it. I don't understand how you're going
to be that bad, because simply put, I would be
more disappointed if that's how bad they are now. Granted
another injury or two that good side track absolutely everything,
(52:00):
but I don't expect these guys to be anywhere in
the vicinity of as bad as everybody else does. Nathaniel
writes this, how can Haliburton be the most overrated player
in the league and then his injury lead the Pacers
to have a top pick make zero sense? That is
absolutely accurate and plus with me, I thought there was
(52:24):
something too. I'll be disappointed just from the fact I
feel that there's something to this team that has been constructed,
and while you have significant pieces that are not going
to be a part of it, their core is something
I believe in. I'll be disappointed at that core, while healthy,
(52:46):
with who they have right now does not play at
a level of my expectation, and clearly with many, including
some Pacer fans, much higher than their expectations after this
past year, that is something I just don't get. And
(53:06):
believe me, I do I value Tyrese Halliburton. That is
not at all what I mean by suggesting they should
still play at a higher level on what many expect.
I have that belief, it clear clearly is I'm one
of the few that has it. Jim writes this, if
(53:28):
the Pacer season is poor, the National Sports media says,
quote they miss their star and the lights were too
bright for them. If the Pacers exceed expectations, national sports
media says, quote, is Helliburton really a star or the
Pacers better without him? So, Jim, here's my answer to that.
This is what I've said all along. It is a
(53:51):
team base. He is the elite of the stars on
this team, but it is a team mentality. I don't
want that to be wrong, and as sure as theyll
don't want that to be wrong to prove that the
national media is inaccurate about their assessment of Halliburton. That
(54:12):
makes sense to you, Jim, I don't want that to
be proven, or I want them to prove yes, while
he has the highest level of importance, that this group
can still mosey on about their day at a high
level and win games and be highly competitive with who
(54:33):
they have within the core. That's my belief, and I'm
going to stick to it until there is a reason
no longer to stick to it, because otherwise I just don't.
I don't get it, and I will tell you this.
I don't want to be proven right, or I should
say inaccurate. I don't want others to be proven right.
(54:55):
I don't want to be proven inaccurate about just how
much faith I have much confidence I having this team.
Hopefully that makes sense. I mentioned the WNBA All Star weekend.
I thought it was spectacular for Indy. I thought Indy
looked fantastic between that and the IB Summer celebration. Great
times to be had by many downtown. The game itself,
(55:16):
yet not so much the shirts that's been a point
of emphasis. Gave you my opinion on that a little
bit earlier. We can do it again if you want.
You've got a group that wants to raise. I think
we all want to raise. I don't know. I think
there are ways that you can prove your solidarity. Actually,
(55:36):
I think there's one way is let Caitlin Clark go
in and yack it up with a commissioner and others.
Let that because that's the reason why you're even able
to have this discussion. And the one thing you have
to understand is there has been a raising of the
bar of the league. It is going to get a
(55:57):
better television contract, but we all know the epicenter as
to why that's taken place. Go with it, Just go
with it, and I think most people out there that
(56:17):
are shaking their fist and angry about it. Probably are
never going to sit down and watch it in the
first place. Probably doesn't matter to them. Just kind of
move on to that next argument. You want to have,
next reason to be mad about something, to shake your fist. Yeah,
the wording on the shirt, I mean, I just think
(56:39):
that they're probably maybe other ways to show that solidarity.
I'm not suggesting now you were sure, do whatever you want.
It didn't bug me in the least, but I would
want to make sure that the message cannot constantly be
(57:00):
misinterpreted or taken someplace else. And I don't know if
it was even misinterpreted, but I think we all know
those that were dead set against what they read and
the choice of platform in which they used on Saturday night,
and like anything else, probably took offense to it. But
(57:25):
we all know the reason why they're there so utilize
I mentioned Caitlin Clark as the key master. That's the
reason why I go with it. There are plenty of
opportunities to be competitive on the floor. I mean, hell,
you saw a more competitive game, was it? The WNBA
All Stars versus Team USA? Last year? Remember how competitive
(57:48):
that was? That was actually a good game. Now, Saturday night,
not so much feverback at it. And again I never
have anybody on for the Fever because I know James
has reached out and nobody ever gets back. But I
do understand where it is right now as far as
(58:09):
the interest level of fans around here, and it is real.
I thought it was a perfect weekend and a perfect
time for that event to be held here because anyplace
else it just does not get the magnitude of the
celebration and the hype that it did here. And that's
just not with the locals, that's with everybody. This was
(58:31):
the perfect place and the perfect time for them to
have it. It's got to be a little bit careful
with it and then follow your leader. That'd be my thought.
We can hit that too. I thought it was a
great weekend overall, though so well done by everybody around Indy.
(58:51):
I just maintain I want Indy to be like that
more than just like one or two weekends a year.
The Liberty and the Fever coming up tomorrow night, as
I guess they start the official is it the official
second half? Kind of the unofficial second half? Colt's Camp
(59:14):
coming up Grant Park tomorrow for the rookies on Wednesday
for everybody else, I know the Morning Show and Jake
Show going to be out there, so Kevin and James.
I think Jeff is still in Paris riding his bike
and Jake will be out there for the midday, so
both shows will be out there for their practices. I'll
(59:34):
be out there when there there's a night practice, whenever
there's a need for me to be out there, but
I think a couple of different times I shall be
out there, and there are certainly a lot of questions.
I kind of compared the Colt situation to that of
the Pacers. You know, a couple of years ago, nobody
had any expectations and you just said, yeah, you prove
(59:57):
it to me, and they ended up proving it to you.
It's that's a cult situation here all the way around
is kind of a prove it to you mentality. I
will say this there. This is a team that is
(01:00:19):
not without talent. But when you talk about the quarterback,
when that's your biggest question mark, your team is going
to be one of the biggest question marks. And clearly
that's what we have seen for the past three years.
Meantime of the Andy Moore Automotive Group Potline eleventh in
(01:00:41):
the Cup Series standings. Team Penske, he's got to win.
He's back with us leading up to the brick You
ont four hundred this weekend. Again, as I mentioned from
Team Penske is Joey Legano. Hello, Joey, how are you?
Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
I'm doing pretty good.
Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
How are you?
Speaker 4 (01:00:55):
Great to hear from you, Glad to have you back on.
So are we hoping that six oh one is going
to be even better than six hundred? Correct?
Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
Well, yeah, we.
Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
Didn't win six hundred, so six oh one's.
Speaker 4 (01:01:07):
Got to be better.
Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
Plus it's the brickyard four hundred.
Speaker 4 (01:01:10):
So a little bit more on the line even what
uh six hundred? If somebody were to tell you before
you embarked upon your racing career, six hundred and again,
such a young age, I think, the youngest ever do
it in NASCAR, What would you have told them?
Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
I've been a long ways away, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:01:31):
I was to be honest with you, I wasn't sure
I can get to one hundred and fifty early in
my career, wasn't wasn't the best of starts to my career.
But obviously things have gone well the last four hundred
or so have been pretty good with.
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
Three championships and some race wins along the way. So
it was it's been a fun ride.
Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
Lots of ups, lots of downs, lots of key learning
learnings in front of the whole world, which has been interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
An interesting ride, no doubt, but uh wouldn't trade it
for the world. It's been a fun time.
Speaker 4 (01:02:00):
He is Joey Legan always on They any More Automotive
group plot line, the nineteen year old Joey Legono. What's
the major thing you have learned from that point in
time that you're taking advantage of and maturing that you
know now that you still use and hopefully to your
advantage as a driver today.
Speaker 1 (01:02:18):
Oh man, it's hard.
Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
A pinpoint one thing, you know. Keeping things into perspective
is probably one thing that I think you learn as
you get older.
Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
And what's the most important things in life and how
to handle you know, how to become a leader, how
to handle conflict, you know, all those type of things
that you just seem to figure out as you get older. Right,
the been there, done that moment just seem to get
a lot easier. But there's a lot of just you know,
even just the amount of effort I used to put
(01:02:48):
into things when you're nineteen, right, I think probably everyone
can relate to this. When you're nineteen and in school
or whatever you're doing, you thought you were working hard,
and then you start to realize what hard work really is.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
You get older and you have more responsibilities.
Speaker 4 (01:03:03):
Yeah, yeah, and you know that just comes. I think
it's funny like I think about guys like Larry Bird
and basketball, for example, and I thought his greatest asset was,
you know, knowing what was going to happen, like you know,
two and three steps before it actually happened. And I
think that also occurs with a level of maturity. You
see things and I think you're able to recognize them
(01:03:27):
before they actually take place. And I think that's just
a big part of maturity you just simply don't have
at nineteen that you do now.
Speaker 2 (01:03:35):
Yeah, I mean, especially when you've been in the sport.
Speaker 3 (01:03:37):
For so long, right, Like you kind of understand how
races most likely are going to play out. You can
kind of see it happening before it does a lot
of times to your point, and so whether it's a
play playing out in basketball or certain restarts or you know,
races in general, playoffs, all those type of things. You've
been through it a few times. You get an idea
(01:03:58):
of trends and certain you know drivers, what they're most
likely going to do, and you can kind of adjust
your game.
Speaker 1 (01:04:06):
Plan off of that stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:04:07):
Well we can, uh, we'll adjust our game plan here.
Speaking of what you just described, Joey, do you happen
to know what the one is going to do when
the one gets around you on the track? Any track, anywhere? Anytime?
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
I have a pretty good idea these days.
Speaker 4 (01:04:25):
I listen. I know that it wears you out. But
do you think like rivalries? Write that and you know
you move in and out of rivalries. It's just kind
of natural, I think, and what you do. But does
that become you think good for racing, not crashing and
wrecking equipment, but just the rivalry like that itself? Is
is that good for what you do?
Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (01:04:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
I mean I think for sports and general, rivalries are always,
uh you.
Speaker 3 (01:04:50):
Seem to to amp the sport up a little bit.
And what is interesting about our sport compared to others.
You know, you might have a rival team, but you
played them maybe a couple of times a year, right,
maybe maybe a few more times than that, but not
not a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
We race each other every single weekend and it's the
same teams, right, it never changes, So you know you
think about that. I mean, it's there's not like time
to cool off. There's not time to think about it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:18):
Or if there is, you have to be quick about it, right,
you have to understand what you know, what's going on there.
So and it is different with our sport too, right,
you got to keep the big picture of mine. You know,
if it's a back and forth situation, you know what's
the real goal out there?
Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
So it's a it's some unique relationships out there.
Speaker 4 (01:05:36):
Does does the relationship or the dynamic of the rivalry
on the track? Does it? Also? Does it take place
when you guys like run into one another off the
track during meetings and such? Is it still there? Can
you still feel it? Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I don't think things change because you're
outside of the car. I mean sometimes you can separate
some things from sure, but uh, I'd tell you a
lot of things kind of carry out carry it forward
at times.
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
But yeah, time heels all the wounds. That's that's the truth.
Speaker 3 (01:06:09):
And you know, and like you said, you want to
have a rivalry where it's you know, going win for win, Right,
that's what you want to do. Uh, not necessarily have
wreck for wreck. You want to you want to be
you know, the rivalries that are going for wins every week.
Speaker 4 (01:06:23):
You got you and the one are going to be
fishing in the lake out there in the infield this
week at some point. That's I don't fish with anybody.
Speaker 2 (01:06:34):
Let me be honest about that.
Speaker 1 (01:06:35):
I don't go fishing. They got the.
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
Patience for that. I might drive the boat, but that'll
be as far as I guess.
Speaker 4 (01:06:41):
Well, I don't know. You may be the only one
right in the garage area that's never fished in that
particular lake out an I m s.
Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
You're probably right. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
Maybe I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:06:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
Any of those slow sports don't really work for me. Well, fishing, hunting,
golfing not for me. It's gotta be quicker pace.
Speaker 1 (01:07:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:07:05):
Well, there's zero patients in what you do, and it's
understandable because if you have patients, then normally you're probably
not going to get where you get. Joey Logonald's with us.
He's on the Andy More Automotive Group plotline. Why is
Indy different for you? I mean, obviously the legend, the legacy,
the history and all that, and then some why is
it different when you come here?
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
Well, I mean it's different for everybody because of the
reasons you just said. The history of what Indy is
is it's incredible. You know, it's the most iconic raceway
in the world. You know, I think you can go
anywhere in the world and talk about Indianapolis, mur or.
Speaker 3 (01:07:41):
Seedway in any race stand will know exactly what you're
talking about. And I think just winning anything there is special.
But the dream of kissing the bricks is a real
dream for me. You know, That's one thing I've always
really wanted to accomplish and it's the number one.
Speaker 2 (01:07:59):
Thing the bucket list of my career at this point
that I have not checked off Daytona five hundred.
Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
Obviously that's a huge win as well in championships, yes,
but the brickyard is something that you know, no matter
if you're an Indy car driver or a stock car
racer or a tricycle racer, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
You want to win at Indy if the race is there.
And you know, I think nothing really explains that better.
If you are in town, go to the museum.
Speaker 3 (01:08:29):
You're Roger Penske, who bought the racetrack, who's also my boss. Uh,
just did a tremendous job at redoing the motorsports museum
there and it is second to none.
Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
I mean, it is incredible. And if you have any
question of what the.
Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
History is of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it's all there on display.
Speaker 4 (01:08:48):
So you got into an IndyCar and made did you not?
Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
I did not? I went, I went and watched practice.
Speaker 4 (01:08:55):
Oh okay, okay, I did not get in one. Have
you you've never been in one before? No, I know
you're six too. They'd probably have to stuff you in
there a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
But yeah, it would be a tight squeeze.
Speaker 4 (01:09:09):
I did want to mention this for Joey Logano before
I let you go. Sam sent me a message and said,
give Joey Logano a shout out for always taking time
for fans. I go to the brickyard every year, and
Joey always signs autographs and takes pictures when many other
NASCAR drivers maybe don't take the time out. So Sam
Meyers wanted to give you a shout for doing what
you do out the brickyard.
Speaker 2 (01:09:31):
Well, I appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:32):
I'm yeah, I was a fan first, you know, before
I was a rich car driver as a kid, and
I always remember how cool it was to get driver's
autograph and also to remember when a driver did not
sign autograph and how that felt too as.
Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
A as a kid that remembers that it's just stuck
there forever. You know, God does certain things in your
life for certain reasons, and I believe it's a small one.
Speaker 4 (01:09:55):
Yes, But I do believe that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
I may have gotten a fit out on an autograph
kid for a reason, and that's sick with me forever?
Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (01:10:04):
Can you tell us who it was.
Speaker 1 (01:10:08):
Tony Stewart?
Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
But he's a good guy. I understand what happened now
as the guy that did the sport.
Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
Is usually a lot of stress that goes along with
after practice and qualifying you.
Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
A lot of times you can be upset. I totally
get it now, but it was still less to learn
from me.
Speaker 7 (01:10:24):
And it was good.
Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
He was never upset. What are you talking about? Never
get it?
Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
I get it with me a couple of times since then.
Speaker 4 (01:10:33):
So Hey, the best of luck to you. I love
it when you come in town, because you're always really kind,
and come on the show man and talk it up
a little bit, go kiss the bricks for the first
time there and have a little piece of history this weekend,
and we'll catch up again soon. Joey, thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (01:10:51):
Awesome looking forward to it. Thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:10:53):
Joey Logano of Team Penske's on the Andy Moore Automotive
Group hootline. I almost it wasn't Tony Stewart. I was
also did anybody think that it was going to be
Tony Stewart that did not get in the autograph? See
now we got to get Tony Stewart on. Say hey man.
(01:11:18):
And by the way, the rivalry that I was talking
about was with Ross Chastain that has been going on.
That is the one. It's interesting how all that happens.
And he's absolutely right. He does add to it. Somebody
get Tony Stewart on, and we want to say, hey,
(01:11:39):
because clearly how old is Leganod? Is he thirty something
now thirty? Is he thirty thirty four? Somewhere in that
neighborhood thirty three?
Speaker 7 (01:11:49):
He is thirty five thirty five.
Speaker 4 (01:11:54):
And he got that name just like that, let's set
with him. Joey Legano the podcast at one oh seven
five Thefan dot Com, I'm ment to the Colts Report
Rookies tomorrow. Entirety of the team coming up on Wednesday.
They practice coming up too on Wednesday, and we shall
talk to Stephen Holder about that and then some Grand
(01:12:16):
Park is the destination location for Colts Camp. Stephenholder of
ESPN dot Com Top of the Hour ninety three five,
one oh seven five.
Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
The Fan Jesus is the best.
Speaker 6 (01:12:28):
Three six y five command center. Get your race updates
here all month long and make sure to enter for
your chance to win five hundred dollars by predicting the
winner of this year's race.
Speaker 4 (01:12:38):
On July twenty seventh, two to.
Speaker 6 (01:12:40):
One oh seven five, the Fan dot Com to winter. Now,
here's your twenty twenty five race update, brought to you
by bet three six five.
Speaker 4 (01:12:48):
And you just heard Joey Logano call in Team Penske
eleventh in points searching for his first Brickyard four hundred title.
Told you how much it would be, how much it
would mean to him, Joey Legano and others coming in
this weekend the Brickyard four hundred should be an absolute blast,
(01:13:09):
fun weekend of racing all the way around to yesterday
in Dover. Denny Hamlin was the winner yesterday. Oh by
the way to the Cookie Monster the Grand Marshall. That's
a weird sound right there? Or are you not ready
to explode?
Speaker 2 (01:13:26):
He might be.
Speaker 4 (01:13:27):
I think we're having engine troubles. I better pit brickyard
four hundred this weekend, notty three five, one oh seven
five the Fan.
Speaker 6 (01:13:37):
The ride with JMV. Look at all the ninety three
five and one oh seven five the Fan?
Speaker 4 (01:13:46):
Am I back? That sounded weird right here? Who's jacket
with our equipment around here? Crank it up, James. This
date in nineteen eighty seven, the release of this album,
Appetite for Destruction as a big damn deal. One of
(01:14:10):
the greatest rock albums I think most people would suggest
and music history would be this one from Guns N' Roses.
Shout out to Joey Logano podcast one oh seven five
fan dot com now really good, per usual and always
kind with his time when he joins the show. Joey Logano, Yeah,
(01:14:32):
we do have your coverage this weekend here. I don't
think I'm going to be a part of the coverage
because I do have the JMV takeover. But yeah, good stuff,
good stuff. Regarding his rivalry right now is back and
forth with Ross Chastain, uh, the former driver that did
not sign his autograph that he remembered awesome podcast. Joey
(01:14:55):
Logano one oh seven five fan dot Com to mv AM,
I crazy to think the Pacers could actually get back
to the conference finals. Yeah, I'm not going to predict that,
but writing them off, and especially if you're a Pacer fan,
(01:15:20):
that's what I don't get. I just think that's doing
a disservice to the team, to those that are still here.
It's really a lot like when I hear Pacer fans
suggest that it's one thing to be an outside fan
because you don't know Jack squad about Jack squad, and
(01:15:41):
nobody cares, you know, even the Pacers going seven games
the limit in the NBA Finals, people don't care. But
around here, you know, you understand, and it was about
the team effort. And I think you totally discredit that
team if you think that they could be Oh, I'm
really excited. This is going to be an off season
(01:16:03):
to where a high lottery selection could be Yeah, for
the first time ever, you know whatever, just thinking, come on,
what did you watch this past year that you don't
believe in it? Don't get me wrong with that, Helliburnen.
You know, Turner's no longer a part of it. Miles
Turner was a part of the reason that pissed me
(01:16:24):
off with all this. Go to Milwaukee to be more competitive,
that's what, listen. Go to Milwaukee to get paid more.
Go to Milwaukee because they haven't tried to trade you
nine thousand times or assigned another center over the top
of you, all those reasons that you may have been
(01:16:47):
holding a grudge, all that because the fans pitched you off,
any of it, but not because you feel you're going
to be more competitive. This is always to me an
ultra competitive group and a team that I believe in now,
(01:17:11):
even beyond Tyrese Haliburton. Now his injury for the season
has zero to do with Tyrese Haliburton either. Now they
are going to miss him significantly, But it just it's
one thing I think to be outside and think that
or believe that, it's to me completely different if you're
(01:17:35):
somebody that's been around it. Javier, I heard you brought
up major League Baseball, and how interesting of a season
this has been so far? What is most interesting to you?
I didn't mention a couple of them. One obviously the
sixty win Detroit Tigers. When I think, basically, unless you're
(01:17:56):
a Tigers fan, and this probably equates to what I
just described as out side of this market, Pacer fans,
don't no Jack squad about Jack squat. Yeah, this is
not like you're dy four Tigers where you can name
off nearly everybody's name. You probably can. I don't even
know if you can name five Tigers. That's good. I
(01:18:20):
think the Blue Jays, that's a hell of a store.
They have a lot of legacy guys on that team.
I dig the legacy dudes, you know, guys with last
names that have had fathers that played the Major League baseball,
been significant of Major League baseball. And I know I'll
mention this because Cubs fans will get all bent out
(01:18:41):
of shape, without question, if the Cubs, if the Reds
had the Cubs record, I'd be talking about it endlessly,
just like Cubs fans will, and clearly, much like Tom
Cruse did in nineteen eighty three, they are making quote
all the right moves. DJ writes this, Well, all I
(01:19:04):
want to happen JV is the Knicks tears to keep coming.
However that unfolds, That's.
Speaker 1 (01:19:10):
All I want.
Speaker 4 (01:19:11):
I did see too, Isaiah Hartenstein. I think he was
on a podcast with Paul George and said that he
only felt that their backs they being okay, see their
backs were against the wall when they played Denver, and
then obviously everybody around here takes offense to that. Damn VI.
Did you catch any of the TBT over the weekend.
(01:19:33):
I did not see the Assembly Ball, and I think
a lot of you probably wished you would not have
carved out a couple of hours to watch Assembly Ball play.
So I guess Yogi, Watford and Blackmen were just kind
of there is window dressing, I guess.
Speaker 3 (01:19:56):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:19:56):
I did not watch it, but people had told me
that it was not enjoyable. What did I watch? I
watched the uh oh. I watched Montrez Harrel last night
play for the vill and I thought I couldn't tell
if he was going to throw at somebody on the
opposite team or somebody on his own. I watched the
(01:20:20):
vill and then I watched a little bit. This is
kind of a rite of passage for me in the summertime,
because really by now we had been a little bit
more starved from basketball. Let's face it, Pacer season goes
almost to July fourth, almost, so normally you take that
out on the summer league, and you know, you get
(01:20:42):
all excited about the summer league and then now, hey
basketball is back, and here's the TBT. But I've always
kind of mentioned this during the basketball tournament is it's
a rite of passage for me to watch the Aftershocks,
that is the legacy team from which it state the Shockers.
(01:21:03):
James is going what And I got to see what
Connor Frankamp's hair looks like, because I can't tell, and
as somebody somebody clearly that cares a great deal. I
can't tell if he's going with the ball or he's
got the flock of seagulls thing going. But it is
(01:21:24):
always a point of emphasis for me this time of
year to check out if you remember, Connor fran Camp
played with some of the more enjoyable and successful Wichita
State teams under Greg Marshall Final four team. Matter of fact,
I think, well, I know frank Cap may have been
(01:21:45):
a little bit after Van Vliet and Baker. But I
watched Wichitas Dates After Shocks a little bit last night
because I wanted to check out the hairstyle or lock
thereof of honor of fran Camp a little bit like me, Man,
He's gonna go at it a little bit the TBT
(01:22:12):
and I know a lot. I don't know how many
of you made it out there. Normally we have people
on from it. We didn't get anybody on. Did anybody
other shows have any of these tvt players on that
you were aware of? Not that I'm over at the IU, No,
that I don't know. I didn't watch it, so I
didn't see. I know Yoga didn't play. I know that
Watford didn't play, and Blackman played Man a lot of bricks.
(01:22:39):
I wanted that that vill team shot up so many
blit at one point in time, at one point in time,
and I think this was joined the second half. The
two teams in that Ville game last night from the
free throw line were fifteen of thirty fifteen of We
(01:23:02):
had a lot of practice time. The one down, now
quick one, We'll come back. Stephen Holder. Colts Camp starts
coming up tomorrow. I guess officially light the rookies are there,
and then everybody's in coming up on Wednesday. Stephenholder of
ESPN dot Com Colts Conversation coming up after five ninety
three five one o seven.
Speaker 6 (01:23:23):
The ride with JMV.
Speaker 4 (01:23:25):
Let me have a Diablo sandwich.
Speaker 1 (01:23:27):
Doctor, I'm making it fast.
Speaker 6 (01:23:28):
I'm gonna Dan Murray ninety three five and one oh
seven five the fan.
Speaker 4 (01:23:35):
Jame's over there, I'm John, Thank you for joining us.
I got my fingers crossed for Steven Holder. Could we
I was trying to think where is he? Is he
somewhere at home? We could just have him like go
down on the street and then yell up here. Uh
(01:23:57):
do you have a megaphone you could use there, Steven. Yeah.
Colts Camp for the rookies. It cracks coming up tomorrow
for everybody on Wednesday Morning show with Kevin and James.
Because Jeff is still in his tights ride to bike
around Paris right now. He'll be back next week. The guys,
both James and Kevin will be up there tomorrow morning.
(01:24:20):
I believe for report or no is that Wednesday Rookies
report tomorrow? They up there tomorrow. Hell, I don't know
the rest of the week. At some point this week,
both the morning and the mid days will be up there.
I go whenever they have either a late afternoon or
an early evening practice. I think for the most part
it's an early evening situation, so I do have a
(01:24:43):
couple of days I will be up there for the
night practices. Those are always fun. I love those because
those are normally the joint practice situations too, and you
get a lot of former Colts players in. I remember
a year ago with my workout regimen. That's when I
first started the whole weight loss thing. Edgar and James
told me how how to lift weight and I said,
(01:25:05):
what do you mean, edge? And he said, here's what
you do. You put a bar bell in your room
floor and every time you walk by it, do us
out of twelve? All right? Man? I think he meant
it more for like when he would slide in from
being out all night long, but it was sound advice.
Now that's cool always to see the former Colts up there,
(01:25:28):
so I am really excited. The only thing that I'm
not excited about is Colts Camp. When it starts, it
always kind of marks the end of the summer. Summer
weatherwise has not been great. You go all the way
back to even before summer, really mid May, all the
(01:25:49):
way through mid June. I thought was a weather related catastrophe.
It was awful. You've had some solid weekend, a lot
of heat which I did, a lot of sweatiness and
I love. But it's just always marks the end of
the summer because normally, if you have kids, you know
your kids are probably going to go back next week.
(01:26:10):
This is their last week, I would imagine. And it's
the only sadness part. The other aspect of it is
is we're getting closer and closer to football, and man,
that has been such lost in the shuffle of the
(01:26:30):
enjoyment of this Pacer season. Has it not? Really has
just incredible. It's funny. I mentioned this a little bit earlier,
and I get a lot of response to it. You
go back to the end of the Pacer season, it
(01:26:51):
almost went into July. It's not close that it was.
I mean, they go seven games, they go the limit
in the NBA Finals, and then a couple of days
later you have the NBA Draft, and then the next
week it's what July fourth. That's what makes it so enjoyable. JMV.
(01:27:16):
I agree with you, regarding the WNBA All Star Weekend,
I thought downtown was as vibrant as I've seen it
in a long time. And it's great that you do
that when there's something that is going on that is
meaningful like this, that's a big national event. But you
wish that you had it like that just when we're
around as well. I would agree, And again I have
(01:27:39):
a pretty good point of view from when I bail
out of here every single Saturday night. Yeah, that's what
you want right there. I completely agree with that. That
was a fun time. JMV. Are you gonna go see
earth Wind and Fire coming up on one? I know
(01:28:00):
that that's it ever wise, indeed, I know bear Naked
Ladies in Fastball and Sugar Railink McGrath was there last night.
Good show. I'm going to go earth Wind and Fire
coming up on Wednesday. A lot of good shows still left.
All right, quick break, we'll come back. Hopefully Steven Holder
can join us. If not, there's going to be a
(01:28:22):
lot of me ip you happen for the next hour. Hey,
by the way, too, I do have a site for you.
A Tavern tour stop on Thursday, and this is going
to be a first timer now not the first time
at the name, but the first time at this name's location.
(01:28:43):
Tavern tour stop. Month of July is coming up on Thursday.
I'll tell you all about that. Hey, sit tight, don't
go anywhere. Hopefully Stephen Holder. On the other side, Joey
Logano just joined us from Team Penske Brickyard four hundred

that a great deal. Anybody that is down with eastbounded

Summer has officially concluded with Steven Holder from ESPN dot Com.
As of tomorrow morning, Steven joins us Now, Hello Steven,
(01:30:36):
how are you?
Speaker 1 (01:30:38):
Oh? Thanks for that reminder the summer is over? Thanks? Yes,
I mean it's they're getting started early this year too.
There's a bunch of camps already going on. I normally
I feel like we have until like the twenty seventh,
twenty a twenty ninth. It's going to be the twenty
second for US is when they're reporting. So no seriousness,
(01:31:00):
I mean, I'm ready to go. I mean this is
gonna be I think training camp number twenty for me
in terms of covering the NFL, So I wouldn't know
what to do with myself if I didn't have anything
to do right now anyway, Well, and.
Speaker 4 (01:31:13):
You're going to have a lot to do because you're
going to get to document every single pass play, every
single call, cadence, whatever gesture on and off the field
with quarterbacks. Are you ready or are you excited for this?
Speaker 1 (01:31:28):
I mean, it's it's gonna be a lot. I mean, look,
I think there are you would much rather a team
know what the heck's going on at quarterback and have
all the answers at quarterback, right But from our perspective
as as journalists covering this, I mean, it ain't the
worst thing in the world. Not gonna lie, okay, because
(01:31:52):
it's certainly it offers intrigue, okay, whether whether you like
either player or neither player, it's certainly intrigued, okay, And
there's nothing wrong with that when it comes to people
paying attention. So you know, we'll be there to kind
of hash it all out and document it and I'm
interested to see how this plays out.
Speaker 4 (01:32:14):
What do you start And we'll double back to the
quarterback situation because you had the report last week with
both Adam Schefter and then you know throughout ESPN regarding
the return of normalcy, if you will. For Anthony Richardson,
I want to save that here for a little bit
further down the road. Outside of that position, though, you're
going to hard target. What's in your focus to start camp?
Speaker 1 (01:32:38):
Well, I the guy I really am interested to see
a lot of is Tyler Warren. I'm not necessarily as
interested in the rest of that position group, but I
am interested to see what he looks like, particularly when
they put the pads on. You know, I think he
had a chance to really be a dying player with
(01:33:01):
the ball in his hands in the open field. That's
where I think they're really excited about getting him involved.
So I guess tight end, but Tyler Warren specifically. The
other thing is cornerback is a little bit of an
interesting position. How does that all play out? Is Juju
Brent's a factor? Certainly they have Jalen Jones is going
(01:33:25):
to be in the mix there, Servarius Award is He's
going to play pretty much every snap because he's the guy.
But then you know, they've got they've got a couple
of young guys they want to look at. They've got
a new draft pick back there. I do want to
see how it plays out. That position. I think it
could be interesting. So you know, there's a few things
(01:33:48):
to watch. I think. So that's it's one offensive, one
defense for you.
Speaker 4 (01:33:51):
Yeah, he's Stephenholder of ESPN dot Com covers the Colts
Rookies report tomorrow. Everybody else coming up on Wednesday. Fan
Morning Show will be there tomorrow. Canny Moore is going
to be a part of that conversation tomorrow in the
morning with the Morning Show. Jacob you up there. I'll
be up there for the evening get togethers a little
bit later on during camp. But Steven hold is with
us now and the andy More Automotive Group Potline. It's
(01:34:13):
one thing I know that there's a great deal of
trust in Bordolini right in Gonzolvez because we've been down
that path before. You've seen a little bit of something.
But the backup plan seems to be I think that's
worth watching, is it not? Whether we're talking about the
rookie Jalen Travis or Blake Friedland being one mishap away
(01:34:35):
from being significant pieces? Is that not concern but something
that you're going to judge and focus as well.
Speaker 1 (01:34:44):
You have to pay attention. There's no question about it.
I mean I think that tackle is a question. That
the tackle depth. Offensive tackle depth is a question for
the Colds. I mean, they feel good about what they've
got starting certainly when our Raymond has improved every single season,
so that if that assent continues, they're good there. Having
(01:35:07):
Braden Smith in place at right tackle, I think is
a good thing. He is probably not the player he
once was, but I think he's when healthy, and I
believe he's healthy, he's still a pretty formidable guy who
can really help you in the run game in particular,
So they feel good about that. But you're always one
(01:35:27):
play away, you know, from being in a tough spot.
And I really think it's going to fall to Jalen
Travis to kind of be the swing tackle if he
can take it, you know, the rookie that they drafted,
I believe in the fourth orth round. Yeah, yes, it's
been I've been on vacation.
Speaker 4 (01:35:46):
He is one, and that's okay. I'm gonna tell you what.
I hope he's as good on the field as he
has conversationally. He's a joy to talk to.
Speaker 1 (01:35:56):
First of all, like if your daughter brought him home
one day. A guy like that, you feel like you
want the leat. Okay, this guy Ivy League education, he well, yeah,
he started out in the heavy League, went over to
Iowa State, but you know, has a Senate internship on
his resume. Okay, the guy he also I think he's
(01:36:18):
starting like and he's starting a nonprofit or something like
that to work in the community. I mean, like talking
about a dream. But I do think that he is
He's not just you know, a guy who who can
just put words together. I mean the word is that
he can play and that they're excited about him. He's
(01:36:38):
not finished product, which is why he went in the
fourth round, but he doesn't have to be. He's he's
a little bit developmental. But you can be that and
still be a good backup option there breakfully Blake Freeland.
You know, we'll see whether he has taken a step forward.
I think he needs to take a step if he
wants that job. But Jalen Travis is the guy that
(01:37:00):
I'll be watching at the outset in terms of tackle depth. Inside,
I think they have more options and more to work with.
But well, we'll see who kind of grabs hold of that.
But they have some experience at least inside.
Speaker 4 (01:37:15):
To Jalen Travis's parents. According to Jalen, Travis went to
high school with Prance too, so there's some conversation to
be had. We discussed Paisley Park at length when he
was on back in the Spring, Love Love Paisley Park,
No doubt about that. It's Stephen Holder on the Andy
Moore Automotive Group plotline. Anybody going to receive any extensions
over the course, sometimes there's news regarding that, anybody going
(01:37:39):
to be that center of attention for a day or
an hour or two coming up here right.
Speaker 1 (01:37:45):
The guy I'm watching is Bernard Raymond. I have not
heard any momentum toward that, but I would argue that
it makes a hell of a lot of sense to
get that done. The alternative is you are doing that
contract on a fly leading up to free agency next spring,
and it ain't going to get cheaper unless you know
(01:38:06):
he takes a step back or something. It's only going
to get more expensive in my opinion. And let's be honest,
you got to have him, you got to So I
think he is the guy to watch, and there there
is another guy to watch. I just don't think anything's
going to happen, and that is Alex Pears. I have
no expectation of a deal happening there, not because Colts
(01:38:29):
don't like him, but because, look, I'll just I'll go
out on the limb here. My prediction is that he's
not on this.
Speaker 4 (01:38:36):
I was going to ask you, why are we watching
his final season here?
Speaker 1 (01:38:40):
Do you think?
Speaker 4 (01:38:41):
I think?
Speaker 6 (01:38:42):
I do?
Speaker 1 (01:38:43):
And and again and not because, to be clear, not
because he is not a good player. The Cols love
Alec Pears. I think there's just some realities here that
we have to consider, and one of them is a
couple of things. Number one, Uh, they have some up
at that position. They have other guys that got to pay.
They can't pay everybody, and that's just where we are.
(01:39:06):
They love Josh Downs as they should. They They are
still convinced that that a d Mitchell can be a player,
and if they can ever get him to get his
head straight, they're going to have a heck of an
athlete there. Right, it's early, so I don't know where
that's going to go. But the point is they've invested
resources at that position, and Alec Pearce has ascended, so
(01:39:31):
his price has gone up. So you know, what, what
are you going to pay that guy? I mean, if
he makes it the free agency, I'm telling you, people
are going to be shocked at what he makes I'm
telling you right now. And he knows that. The Colts
know that, so they can't come to him with some
ridiculously low offer. It's insulting, right. So I just don't think.
(01:39:52):
I don't see a scenario where that gets done now
and they can make a deal that makes sense for them,
give him what they've got coming down the pike at
that position. So I just don't anticipate it.
Speaker 4 (01:40:04):
How important is it for the evolution for real, and
not in terms of not Dante moncreefing it here.
Speaker 1 (01:40:12):
With ad Mitchell, that's that's the heck of a reference,
and not a terrible one because also a great athlete,
you know, who was very impressive, all kinds of speed,
but never could put it all together. I do think
that I remember remember when ad Mitchell was drafted and
(01:40:34):
there was all that buzz about what the scouts were
saying and he's some you know, some sort of bad
apple or something, and none of that was ever true, Okay,
And I did follow up on that. I couldn't find anything.
There was no smoking gun with this kid. But I
think we found the smoking gun. The smoking gun is
that he's just not a polished guy. He's not a
(01:40:56):
polished player, right, I Mean, that's that's what it was,
and I think we see it now. There was never
any trouble maker aspect to him that I am aware of.
I just think that he has some deficiencies that he's
got to fix. But he is tantalizing when it comes
to his athletic profile and his ability to get down
(01:41:17):
the field. Just his ability to win at the line
of scrimmage is I mean, I think he's got from
that perspective in that particular part of his game, he
might be the best wide they have in terms of
winning at the line of scrimmage. That is saying something
for a guy who's only played one full NFL season.
(01:41:37):
The question is can he finish a play, can he
trust his hands, and can he execute be where he's
supposed to be at the right time. I mean, he
hasn't proven any of those things, so that the business
is they have a lot to work with, but he
has to take that next step. They can't do that
for him. He's got to They can leave into the water.
(01:41:58):
He's got to take that next step. But my god,
if he can, they're going to have a hell of
a player right there.
Speaker 4 (01:42:05):
Stephen Older if ESPN dot COM's on the Andy Moore
Automotive Group plot line. Coach Camp starts later on this week.
Of course, we're going to have you covered throughout the
Grand Parks experience up in Westfield. Steven's on the Andy
Moore Automotive Group plotline, the kicking situation straighter. How flexible
(01:42:25):
will they be before they say, you know what, we're
gonna have to go out and do something else.
Speaker 1 (01:42:33):
That's a great question. I think I think we'll see.
I don't know. I think they'll I think they'll know
when you see it. One thing I would say is
they have made mistakes at that position before Nicoles. You
know they they did it with you know, they did
it with Specs quite frankly, right. They also, to a
(01:42:59):
in a different manner, did that with with Adam Vin
and Terry when they let that issue, that injury issue.
I presume it was an injury and let it linger
and he was missing and missing and missing, costing them
games all those things, right, So, so I really do
think that they have to not repeat mistakes of the past.
(01:43:22):
They just can't. And I do wonder if they if
this is a real competition here, I mean because ultimately
Spencer Schrader has a very thin resume. Okay, he just does.
And and I don't know if if if they should
necessarily proceed as if if they're they're fine there and
they're they're not saying that, but they don't really have
(01:43:45):
any proven competition on the roster right now?
Speaker 4 (01:43:47):
Right would you rather them still have Matt Gay?
Speaker 1 (01:43:52):
I think with Matt Gay the problem was the combination
of performance and money, right so so so for them
it didn't makes sense.
Speaker 7 (01:44:00):
But I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:44:03):
I thought he was I thought he was fine except
when you got to the longer distances. That was that
was the issue with him. But he but he was
pretty reliable when it came to when it came to
you know, inside of what now like forty five or so,
like you can kind of fit your watch to that.
The problem is, when you pay a guy that kind
(01:44:24):
of money, you expect him to make the fifty three
fifty four yarders, and he was just wildly inconsistent when
it came to those. But I do think your question
is is a reasonable question, like taking the money out
of it? Would you rather have the proven guy? Maybe?
Maybe you know, we'll see, We're gonna learn a little
(01:44:46):
more about Spencer Trader. I don't think we know enough yet.
Speaker 4 (01:44:48):
Yeah, we don't. I just I was kind of curious
just how flexible it might be before they go, Oh,
I hope not. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:44:56):
Yeah, that's gotten them in trouble. Quite frankly, it has
gotten them in trouble. So we will find out if
they have learned some lessons there.
Speaker 4 (01:45:04):
I think think Mooney has the chance to be the
most talented corner that we have seen here. Is that
fair to say?
Speaker 1 (01:45:13):
I mean he should be up there if he plays
the way he played two years ago. The answer to
that question is possibly yes. So last year well documented
is his young daughter passed away. He's been very clear
that he was in a terrible headspace last year. Okay,
because of course he was right, So I'm giving him
(01:45:34):
a pass on anything that happened last year. And he
wasn't terrible. Okay, let's be clear. He was fine, but
he wasn't an all pro level player two years ago.
He was, So if he still has that in him,
and I see no reason that he doesn't. If he
still has that in him. They're gonna have one hell
of a player, There's no doubt about that. I'm very
(01:45:55):
interested to see it. When I look back at my time,
at least in town, I think the guy who comes
to mind that I think is the best corner I've
seen play here is Vonte Davis during that stretch maybe
in twenty fourteen where the Colts I thought were where
that was a defense that you know, that was a
(01:46:16):
good version of that defense, a really good version. And
he personally had a great season that year. I think
he was I don't remember if he made All Pro,
but he was certainly a Pro bowler back when the
Pro Bowl kind of meant something. So yeah, I think
he could have that kind of impact. And we saw
Vonte Davis that year basically take away half the field.
(01:46:36):
They weren't thrown at him because quarterbacks weren't stupid. Then
this guy could have that kind of impact. And I
love this particular part of it is that lou Anarumo
is going to let him be him, because what's the
point of having a guy who can lock people down
if you don't let him lock people down. So that's
what I'm looking for this year. From Shiavarius Ward.
Speaker 4 (01:46:57):
I don't know too much about the Just Bates career.
I just know that it's weird. When he left Cincinnati
for Atlanta, their defense went to hell in a hand
basket for whatever reason. I mean I lost other guys too.
Anybody comfortable you think of that secondary at safety to
what lou Anroumo coached up when they were really good
defensively with Cincinnati and Bates was a part of it.
Speaker 1 (01:47:19):
Well, I mean, cam Bynum has has definitely got his
hands on a lot of footballs.
Speaker 4 (01:47:25):
Where he is all skills is what you're talking about here.
Speaker 1 (01:47:28):
I like it, Yes, yeah, for sure. Where he needs
to take the next step is taking the ball away,
and I think he has the ability. There's no question
about that. I Mean. The good thing about about cam
is you're getting a guy in his prime. You know.
With Ward, I mean you could argue, I mean, you
know this is a stretch maybe, but I mean he
(01:47:48):
turned twenty nine this year, So is he on the
downside at that position? Maybe he might be. You know,
they may not get like his they may not get
multiple years of his prime, but cam Bynam I think
think is I don't know, twenty five twenty six. I mean,
he's right in there where you want to, you know,
acquire a guy if he's going to be a big
(01:48:11):
free agency pickup. So I'm interested to see if he
can be that. He has the ability, there's no question
about it. And again it really is about taking the
ball away and buying them. Has talked about that. To
his credit, he has made he has said that that's
that's the priority is taking the ball away. I'm looking
at him now. I mean he had he had three
(01:48:32):
picks last year, which is which is fine. But here's
the thing. He had, you know, ten pass deflections last year.
So I mean he's around the football, he's getting his
hands on the ball, but he wants to take it
to the next level and that means taking it away,
getting those you know, four or five six picks next,
you know, this coming season.
Speaker 4 (01:48:50):
We shall end with a quarterback question. Which one of
the top two in this case has more of a
margin for training camp error.
Speaker 1 (01:49:02):
I think Daniel Jones. And here is why, because with
Anthony Richardson, and this is not a comment on ability,
this is just a comment on like reality. The reality
with with Anthony Richardson is he's battling on two fronts.
I've said this before, but I think it's worth repeating.
He's battling on two fronts. And what I mean by
(01:49:23):
that is he's got doubts about his health, and then
there's doubts about him just in terms of performance. Daniel Jones.
Clearly there's doubts about his performance because the New York
Giants said, get out of here, we don't want you
to be our starter anymore. But there is at least
less maybe anxiety about whether he's going to be available
(01:49:47):
okay health in terms of health, and so it sort
of streamlines the issues for Daniel Jones. The issue with
Daniel Jones is like, do you believe that he can
be an effective and consistent starter? With Anthony Richardson, You're
asking two questions, can he be a consistent starter? And
can he stay healthy? So I don't think he I
(01:50:08):
just think he has to think about it. I believe
Richardson has to. Just knowing what we know, it feels
like he has to perform, like vastly outperform Daniel Jones
to win this thing, you know, just because the reality
is there's two separate sets of doubts about him. So
I hope that makes sense.
Speaker 4 (01:50:29):
Stephen Holder, ESPN, ESPN dot COMY is going to be
there to document tomorrow, be there on Wednesday and then
throughout telling you every single situation that happens under center
for this football team. There you go, and summer is
officially over.
Speaker 1 (01:50:45):
Yes it is. It was a mile lasted.
Speaker 4 (01:50:48):
No, no, it's more over than the song's Summertime by
DJ Jesse Jeff and the Fresh Prince.
Speaker 2 (01:50:55):
It is.
Speaker 1 (01:50:56):
That is correct, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:50:57):
I appreciate you. Thanks, We'll see you up there when
we get up there. Thank you, Steven, Steven Older, you
got it, ESPN, ESPN dot coms on the Anymore Automotive
Group podline. Yeah, it's funny. Obviously. The quarterback situation is
that of the target and main conversation. I do kind
(01:51:18):
of wonder at Kicker, you know, how much flexibility do
you have before I'm not going to say the panic button,
but before you kind of break that glass and hit
the levern and find something else more secure? Would anybody
else out there rather have the lack of distance efficiency
(01:51:46):
but the makeability with others combined with the finances of
Matt Gay at Kicker or you okay with this direction
and what is so little known about Strader?
Speaker 1 (01:52:03):
All right?
Speaker 4 (01:52:03):

We're gonna start getting those. We have Phil steel On

USC Washington, Minnesota. I don't know what the hell poll
this is here? I was reading it all for s's

and Purdue to round it out.
Speaker 1 (01:54:29):
What is this?
Speaker 4 (01:54:34):
Was it on three Sports the Best of college sports
right there? So you know Stephen Holder podcast one oh
seven five, thefan dot Com. A lot of interesting stuff there,
and I know he was the one that had the
Richardson News where he was back to normal with the
shoulder situation at the end of last week. I think
we all are now with the understanding that going in
(01:55:00):
it is going to be it is going to be
a Richardson win it situation and a Daniel Jones losing
his spot during training camp. It is a little you
would almost think that, and I know he's he's been
(01:55:22):
given it and he's been injured and inefficient. But as
we all noted going back to the spring, there's a
reason why they decided to go down the path here
with with Daniel Jones, and it is you got to
go in there, and you got to when I kind
of laughed about it initially and thought, oh, well, you've
(01:55:44):
got to. You got to see absolutely beyond a shadow
of a doubt what you have in Richardson. But I
think as we've moved throughout this process, it almost feels
like that much like that that I have and that
some of you have as well, you think you have
a pretty fair understanding about what you have and if
(01:56:07):
you're really going to get it, if you're Richardson, you're
going to have to go out there and win it.
It's not going to be silver plattered for you. And
there is a lot to prove. So that discussion on
the podcast at one oh seven five fan dot com.
I do want to ask you this because I felt compelled.

six hours. It is enjoyable and it's nothing like what
most of you do, and I recognize that. So I'm
not going to say, well, you know, I'm so tired,
and I do work all the time, which I enjoys.
The reason behind it because I enjoy it. I took
(01:57:13):
off what three days last week, and oftentimes I found
myself wondering if I would have just been better off
to haul my ass in and not take three days
off last week. Because I do. I do love this
a great deal. But the one thing that I have noticed,
you know, we were talking about this yesterday at Paradise,
(01:57:35):
Dad Watson, there is not Is this fair to say?
Not the normal start of the season football buzz with
the Colts. It seems like that a lot of people,
(01:57:56):
if there is an accepting of the situation, you have
accepted until further notice, or much like how I just
described Richardson at the quarterback position, until it has proven
to you, you're going to remain a bit of a
little bit more of a distant my standard. Is that
(01:58:19):
fair to say? That's what it feels like to me.
I give you a great example. We're comparing football, right
so with IU. With IU, it is I fa I
cannot wait to get this started. And you know, here's
everybody downplaying where we're going to do. There's the new
Purdue coach that you know is making a lot of
(01:58:41):
the schedule, and Signette's going to do it all over again,
and you can't wait to get this thing started because
of what last year was. And with Purdue, it's the
Barry Odamara has started and we're fired up. Even if
we're predicted to be the worst team of the Big Ten.
(01:59:01):
You are rebooting it. Man. With Notre Dame, it goes
without saying. With Marcus Freeman, everybody now is a believer. Yeah,
at the front of that line is one Kevin Bowen.
But with the Colts, it's like, you know what, I
want to hang out over here for a little bit
and just wait and see what happens. Because you look
at the schedule and there's nothing that really jumps off
(01:59:23):
the schedule for you. I will suggest that if there were,
if there were schedules out there that would would seem
to be something that should be winnable for a group,
because you don't have the exciting mammoth matchups here. So
I just kind of seems like the Colts fans, I
(01:59:44):
don't want to say standoffish, but you're just going to
take more of a background. I'll believe it when I
see it. Approach. Is that fair or we're we just
all conversationally be yesing it up and having beverages on
(02:00:05):
a Sunday. More time to discuss that which I did
not leave you with today. But we can have at
it if you like a little bit more until the
top of the hour beyond the bricks top of the
hour at six o'clock for you too, and then we
can do that the remainder of the week, because it's
now going to be more appropriate. We're going to discuss
things like that. I'm going to stir up the excitement
(02:00:29):
or maybe not so much. Quick break. We shall return
and we'll do that coming up for the final time.
Beyond the Bricks. Top of the hour. Got you covered
until then tomorrow back in studio Thursday on the road
for a tavern tour stop and they must attend. Events
have got coming up for you. Do not go anywhere.
(02:00:49):
It's ninety three to five and one oh seven five.
The Fan, The Ride with JMVS Esportos, motor hits, geeks, slapsts.
Do we bees say Allador if they think he's a
righteous dude?
Speaker 6 (02:01:04):
Ninety three five and one oh seven five The Fan, Oh,
the Billy Joel documentary that has premiered on HBO.
Speaker 4 (02:01:14):
James, it is fan fantastic. I had no idea and
I'm I'm a billy Joel fan, but not a huge
billy Joel fan. I had no idea his first wife,
Elizabeth had such a big deal in him becoming a
(02:01:34):
global superstar. No idea.
Speaker 7 (02:01:39):
And this is on Max, she said, HBO.
Speaker 4 (02:01:42):
Oh yeah, I just watched it on HBO. What's HBO?
Max is? Well?
Speaker 7 (02:01:45):
Max is the HBO Streaming.
Speaker 4 (02:01:48):
I'm assuming it's on there too.
Speaker 7 (02:01:49):
Yeah, it used to be HBO Max and now it's
just Max. But I think they might be bringing it
back to HBO Max. I have no idea.
Speaker 4 (02:01:55):
I pay three hundred and ten dollars a month to
watch that, and I have no idea what it is
three hundred, three hundred And why have you guys not
kicked my ass for that yet?
Speaker 7 (02:02:07):
Three ten, three ten four? How many channels do you
do you actually use?
Speaker 4 (02:02:10):
I bet, I bet, I watch on average every week
about ten back and forth from ten.
Speaker 7 (02:02:18):
So how much money is that perchase?
Speaker 4 (02:02:20):
It is not good. Do not do the math on that. Seriously,
you guys. If you guys see me in public and
you want to dress me down and swing on me
for doing that, do it because I deserve it. Three ten.
But the Billy Joel documentary is awesome. No much like
and I didn't take my cue from the film Step
(02:02:42):
Brothers in Horatio Sans. I'm not the biggest fan of
eighties Billy Joel. I do like the Nylon curtain now.
I think Glass Houses is effectively the very early late
seventy nine early eighties. I'm not a big fan of
It's still roll to me. Everybody thought he was going
new wave at that point. But I do like the
(02:03:05):
Nylon Curtain, an innocent man. I liked when it came
out in eighty three, and then the more I listened
to it, the more I thought, God, this stinks, you
know why. That's like the do Wop, the fifties du
Wop Billy Joel, But the seventies stuff is beyond belief awesome.
(02:03:27):
And I would suggest this if you're just a fan
of music like I am, then even if you're not
a tremendous fan of Billy Joel, if you get the
opportunity check that out. Is Justin gonna dress me down
for paying three ten a month for direct TV? Hello, Justin?
Are you mad at me?
Speaker 6 (02:03:45):
No?
Speaker 1 (02:03:47):
Man, I'm not mad at you at all. I'm paying
a buck seventy five a bus with direct TV.
Speaker 4 (02:03:52):
You pay one seventy five. I don't even get porn
and I pay three to ten. What the hell's up
with that?
Speaker 3 (02:03:58):
Man?
Speaker 2 (02:03:58):
I mean, you gotta work.
Speaker 4 (02:04:00):
How do I not get the Hustler channel and pay
three ten a month? How's that work?
Speaker 1 (02:04:04):
You're going to cancel? Give it?
Speaker 6 (02:04:08):
Like well?
Speaker 4 (02:04:09):
He threatened, you think it's you think I should threaten
and they give me free hustler, Is that what you're saying? Threatening? Quick?
Speaker 1 (02:04:15):
Now, I'm telling you what. Every three months I call
in to cancel and they give me HBO showtime, they
give me something free for ninety days. Well, I just
keep working.
Speaker 4 (02:04:25):
I will say this justin I have cable that is
down my road now, I think Exfinity. There's an Infinity
box in my front yard that Exfinity decided to put
in my front yard for whatever reason. So I think
and if I could, I could probably advertise for Exfinity
right now and get it for free and just cut
it loose all together. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I would guess,
(02:04:48):
and then bundle it too, and then I get I'm
sure that Johnson County Fiber wouldn't like that. I could
get rid of everything. Actually, Johnson County Fibers were really
awesome to me.
Speaker 6 (02:04:57):
I wouldn't want to do that, but right right, well, hey,
speaking of that, you've been really awesome to me.
Speaker 1 (02:05:02):
I want tickets to Earth, Wind and Fire.
Speaker 2 (02:05:05):
See I'll be there Wednesday night.
Speaker 4 (02:05:07):
Do you have them, your old daughter? Do you have
them by now?
Speaker 1 (02:05:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:05:10):
They showed up today.
Speaker 4 (02:05:11):
Okay, because I've called I have called two people, and
I want to make sure I didn't call you today,
I don't think. But I called two people that won
to make sure that they have their tickets. So I
was going to call you as well, but you got
your tickets today.
Speaker 1 (02:05:26):

Speaker 2 (02:05:26):
I reached out to sea Anna this morning. Be called
really quick with an email.
Speaker 4 (02:05:30):
And she's a sweetheart. She is awesome on what she does.
By the way she keeps tracking me, she knows I'm
pretty inept.
Speaker 7 (02:05:38):
Yeah, she's really good. I bet I owe you a
cocktail yes night.
Speaker 4 (02:05:43):
