Speaker 1 (00:10):
And where are we going here?
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Anything you have a chance against oursimistic cowboy?
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Hey what do you like to do? Oh?
Speaker 1 (00:19):
I don't know, play chess?
Speaker 4 (00:21):
Screw well?
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Theer's play chests.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
They give off the Jonathan Taylor chuck cutting its way
walking the goal line.
Speaker 5 (00:27):
He's in there, put down.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
And why Jonathan Taylor wheeler finds here's.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Halibert into the front court, mishandled it mcgainst any shot
he hits it.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
John, I have never been better to be on the
air with you here in Indianapolis, a place where so
many of my dreams have come true.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
The ride with JMV on ninety three five and one
oh seven five the Fan.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
We have a cutdown today. We're not celebrating that by
any stretch. You know what it's funny about this. I've
done this for so many years, and I know Jake
has the same feeling. Is you end up going all
over these well breaking news this is the latest cut
by the Colts, only to find them resurface on the
practice squad. So, you know, most often guys that you
(01:19):
end up talking about, especially if there is nothing that
is just big, something that's not earth shattering, which clearly
there is nothing here that is earth shattering, just nothing.
It's kind of like, you know where you are with
this group right now. We know what's really important. We
(01:40):
know the debates that we have that are really important.
I always liked Jilanie Woods. Now I will say this,
he may end up as he has been on the
practice squad prior to now, he's been injured most of
the time. But you look at Houston. Houston is in
desperate need of a tight end. But again, Houston's also
(02:04):
in desperate need of a tight end that is available,
and that has been the problem. When he was drafted
round number three, I thought this guy, he was so
good athletic collegiately, you know, he played quarterback, He was athletic,
(02:27):
the guy could talk it up and I thought he
had a big career ahead of him. And the problem
that you have is you end up getting side swiped
by injuries. And that's what happens, and it happens to
more than what we ever know. When you think about it,
(02:48):
even if you're a star, even if you're a top
level player in the NFL, your time is very limited.
But when you think about it from a guy that's
just now trying to make it, trying to hang on,
trying to get his imprint in somewhere somehow. Someway and
(03:10):
Rick mcchery talks about this all the time, especially in
terms of the final preseason game when we go all
hole home. He talks about how guys are fighting to
try to make it. Colman Owen, for example, Colts wide receiver,
was fighting and trying to make it. He was a name.
(03:31):
He was somebody that has been brought up again. Likely
to go back to the practice squad. Marcellus Johnson, likely
to go back to the practice squad as a tackle.
Crys La Monds has been like all over the map.
Kind of wonder when the Colts go out and make
(03:52):
that deal for Makay Blackman with the Vikings yesterday, if
that was going to be the choice. I will say
this for a guy that got ousted in Cincinnati, that
really had moments that dissolved into having to move on.
(04:12):
We've had Lance McCallister with the big one in Cincinnati
on here a number of times, and we talked about
lou Anarumo and how things went for him, and it
was almost like Lance explained it as it being more
about the personnel and the dissolving of the personnel that
he had. Everybody talks about Jesse Bates. Jesse Bates once
(04:34):
he left that program and goes to Atlanta the secondary.
Everybody always mentioned how that thing went to hell in
a handbasket. So you can see what the cults are doing.
It's it's my necessity, don't get me wrong. But you
can also see what they're doing in terms of wanting
(04:56):
to put together a group in the secondary that can
be a difference maker. I was talking to Stephen Holder
about this yesterday and I asked him, all right, defensively,
who is the single most important and again individually speaking defensively,
and he mentioned Mooney, And there's nothing wrong with that choice.
(05:18):
You come over from the forty nine ers. You had
just an impactful personal season a year ago that was
tough to get through, and now you're on the other side.
And whether you were in Kansas City or in San Francisco,
you have shown your value. You have shown just how
good you are in the NFL at just taking away somebody.
(05:42):
And Steven Holder mentioned Mooney Tarvarius Ward and again no
argument here. I still think what makes this defense impactful
with the way that the Colts have really put this
thing together. For lou Anirumo on your number one, can
(06:03):
you consistently get pressure? And will this be in your
number two? For Laya Tu Latu, will this be kind
of the dawn? So to speak? Everybody talked about him
in the training camp. I don't know, more like mixed reviews.
(06:27):
I think as a rookie it wasn't so bad, it
really was. It was kind of like the Colts in general.
How long have we been talking about the Colts in
a similar fashion. Yeah, you know, they're not very good,
but they're not that bad. They're tweeener Leiatu Latu. I
know that sounds like a backhanded compliment, but Lea Tu
(06:47):
Latu seem like a tweener in his rookie season. Not
much you can be highly critical about, but man, you
would love it with somebody like that if they would
have a little bit more of a consistent impact. Now,
granted this is twofold, and how we come up with
this logic one, I'm sure it's very unfair to lay
(07:12):
out to Latu because it's been so damn long since
anybody had that type or any kind really of consistent
off the edge impact. And then when you want to
compare it to the last time we witnessed it, and
Robert Mathis was as good as you could find at
(07:34):
the NFL level, And then think about there was a
point in time when this group had two of those dudes.
There was a point in time when you had both
d White fre Indian and Robert Mathis coming out of
the quarterback meeting in the middle. It's funny people always think, well,
you get so used to it. You got used to Manning,
(07:56):
and you got used to Wane, and you got used
to Clark, and you got used to an offensive line
and a head coach and a general manager slash team president.
We got used to two guys on a defense that
never felt like it was the greatest or as incredibly impactful.
(08:17):
I guess you go back to the Super Bowl winning
season and the postseason. It became that, but it never
felt like that. But you always had that edge, and
that edge was the consistent pressure off the edge. Just
as Rick Venturi talks about the ambient players that were
both Mathis and Freemy. This team has been searching for
(08:41):
a quarterback since Andrew Luck. This team has been searching
for that impact since Robert Mathis. And there was a
point in time when they had Double Impact, which I
think is a film somewhere, James, look up what double
Impact is? I remember that being a film, and it
sounds like something I would watch. Double Impact is that?
Speaker 5 (09:02):
What?
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Hold on? Is that Jean Claude von Damme? You are correct? Oh? Yes,
now it was not as good as blood Sport when
he danced a little bit and did the splits and
beat everybody's ass and his jeans that were just absolutely
skin tight. How could that guy do a flying leg
kick and those tight ass jeans? I have no idea
(09:24):
Double Impact? Is that what he was like twined up?
Kind of like face off a little bit there or
something like that. He's like twin Did he play two
dudes the same?
Speaker 6 (09:34):
Yes, yes he does. He plays two characters.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Hey, look up whatever happened to Jean Claude von Dame
because it just occurs to me as I brought him
up in that film.
Speaker 6 (09:43):
I mean, he's still alive.
Speaker 4 (09:44):
It's good.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
Yeah, sixty four.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
And he had a moment. He was all over the place.
He and Steven Segall were literally having battles as to
who was going to be the best.
Speaker 6 (09:55):
He's still working, is it really.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
He had a film come out last year. What was
it called Darkness of Man?
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Hell?
Speaker 4 (10:02):
Was that? That goes straight to my TV?
Speaker 6 (10:04):
It was released on voddn VD.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
What is that released on VOD?
Speaker 6 (10:13):
They'd have better video on demand?
Speaker 4 (10:15):
Video on demand?
Speaker 6 (10:17):
All right, so it's the digital version.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Do you make any money on VOD? I mean, I'm.
Speaker 6 (10:22):
Assuming it makes some money. I I think they have
to rent it or buy it time.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
How much does the lead actor get paid, I wonder
for a.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
VOD Probably probably not as much as he was making
back in the nineties.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
I will say this though, blood Sport to this day,
between he and chun Ley, is still about as badass
as you can get. I think most people would agree. Yeah,
they had to kill oger Dennis gibbson that unfortunately, but
man it is still about as bad ass as you
can find, and no doubt about that. Thank you very much,
James for the Jean Claude von dam update right there,
(10:56):
but no getting back to the original point double impact
you met at the quarterback. Can you imagine all you're
asking for is like just a little bit of consistency
off the edge for me and anybody right now, there
was a point in time. I think we commonly forget
because we get caught up talking about the quarterback play
and how you miss that this defense as much as
(11:21):
I want to see how it works and how it
looks in the secondary, because so much of a focus
has been placed upon it and you saw it all
the way back to free agency. As much as I
want to see that, I do think it is incredibly
important to have that presence. Ah, this dude off the edge,
(11:46):
and when you think about the last two double digit
sackers defensively for the Colts, this is not anything to
write home about. Justin Houston, who was like my age
now and Eric Walden, that's incredible when you think about it.
(12:08):
We always end up talking about the quarterback and how
incredible it is to be where this team has been
here recently and where it stands right now compared to
where it once was. Yeah, you think about that defensively
off the end as well, some incredible stuff. But I
mentioned Leah tou Lat too. That dude has to be
(12:30):
in the general vicinity of what they expect him to be.
The moment when Chris Baalle remember in the draft room
over a year ago, he was we get the best
defensive player on the draft. Well, those better be words
to live by or at least somewhere again in the
(12:51):
neighborhood of the general vicinity. Absolutely got to be that way.
By the way, I do want to get Rob Blackman
on later on this week more the Maker Radio. We'll
hit up a little Boilermaker football. I know everybody's saying, oh,
you know what I'm talking about. AU, Well, I know
we're not just a couple of thoughts there regarding the
(13:16):
Colts and cut down day. We've got Joel's going to
join us coming up at the five o'clock hour. We'll
have more of a definitive answer. And still, you know,
even though you have to have a sheet of paper
into the NFL coming up here in under an hour,
you still are going to make moves. There are gonna
be other guys that you like, your target. They're gonna
be released, They're gonna go out and get and you
know everybody has documented that's kind of why this whole
(13:38):
process does kind of suck for some You know, you're
calling home and hey, I just made the Colts. I
just made the squad. I'm on the squad. WHOA wait
a minute, I'm not hold on, they like somebody else
in another organization. They just got released better than they
like me. So there is a lot to that. But
(14:00):
who else Land and Parker wide receiver wave. These are
all according to our guest Jolie Erickson in the Star
coming up at the five o'clock hour, Marcus Haynes shout
out to the Globe trotters, this is a defensive line.
Sean McKeon another one defensive check that I'm sorry tied
(14:20):
the end the Big Store today. Jaylen Carlos, the linebacker
who is going on injured reserve that they're also designated
him for return at some point, and then we'll see
what happens to Jelannie Woods. A lot of unfortunate stuff
(14:48):
going on there. Not. I didn't say double jeopardy. Jim
mccanna said double impact. Yeah, give me whatever happened to Uh,
actually Judd, she's still out there doing anything. Double Jeopardy
was actually Judd. Double Impact was John Claude von dam
and the tightest jeans imaginable. Yeah, give me give me
(15:11):
whatever size I wear and then tighten those bad boys
up by like five sizes.
Speaker 6 (15:16):
She's still around, She's still working, is she really? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (15:19):
Good for her. Remember when she was married to Dario Frank.
Speaker 6 (15:23):
Kitty can't say I do done. I'll take your word
for it and take my word for it right there
very much.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
Yeah, for those of you, I did stay up and
watch the Reds last night. Yeah. Yeah, Like it's almost
like you have one team of the Dodgers and they
they're up here and then whatever, scrap whatever, the scraps,
like they're two and a half games back in a
wild card right now. Seriously, whatever scraps this team can
give us, if they can give us anything in the
(15:53):
month of September, it's better than I guess just being
completely out of it. Maybe one of these days, if
MLB can can continue to put more teams in the postseason,
maybe one of these days, like they're gonna do in
the NCAA tournament, everybody can make it all right, then
I'll feel really good. Hey, everybody's in. You can be
(16:14):
as bad as you want. Hey, we're in. We're number one,
We're in. Yeah. I saw this a little bit earlier too.
I don't know, because I'm not much of a video
game guy unless you're talking about nineteen eighty one and
Galaga and nineteen eighty one and Donkey Kong, and then
I become immediately a video game guy. If you put
(16:37):
me in an arcade with tron, I can make that
quarter last. If you put me in an arcade, James Defender,
my quarter last about twenty five seconds. So IndyCar is
coming out in twenty twenty six with a video game.
(16:58):
It used to be said, and I guess I'm not sure.
I guess if you want to cultivate the younger viewing audience,
it is important. Does this matter as much as it
once did? Just curiosity? Some of you and the younger
generation can tell me does it matter as much as
it wants? Are you a video gamer over there?
Speaker 6 (17:19):
James Adams, Yeah, I play It's I mean, it's it's
a pretty it's kind of a big deal, especially since
it's coming out on console and on PC.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
So so you still play? I mean, do you play
like racing games?
Speaker 6 (17:32):
I don't play racing games, but I will play college football.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
Oh, I thought, sure you're going to like that, like
some weird game of I don't know what are they?
Speaker 3 (17:43):
What are they?
Speaker 4 (17:44):
What do they play at Comic Con all the time?
Speaker 3 (17:46):
That?
Speaker 6 (17:46):
Oh, that's like D and D and that's not even
a video game, that's a tabletop. Okay, no, I'm Minecraft
is what I'm thinking. Oh no, no, I'm too old
for Minecraft. That was that was after me.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Okay, minecrafts what I was thinking of. So, yeah, racing game.
I'm assuming that's really important to have a good racing game.
Is Nascar. It doesn't look like that Nascar is as
impactful as it once was.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
With video games.
Speaker 6 (18:11):
I don't think it's as big. I don't even know
if you even have them puts one out there? Used
to it back in the day.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Did this if one movie like go into anything that.
Speaker 6 (18:21):
I mean, it did pretty well. I know it got
pretty decent reviews. I wasn't paying attention to how it
did at the box office.
Speaker 4 (18:27):
But so I saw what Tony Downe. You mentioned this,
and he's mister IndyCar and mister video game. It took
six months for I think he wrote this for Doug
Bowles to get with I Racing and get a video
game in the works with a release date for twenty
twenty six. So twenty twenty six. I think it's iRacing.
(18:54):
I don't know too much more about it. I know
that it used to really matter. I just kind of
wonder if it matters as much as it once did.
Shout out to Derek White, I'm gonna miss all the
fun at Mystic Water. Are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (19:13):
D White?
Speaker 4 (19:13):
How is that happening? Dambro getting the FM signal in
northern Howard County sounds like an old AM signal. Listen, Eric,
I've got double barrel hamster on the wheel. Action going
on right now. That makes a difference. That'll get up.
(19:34):
If I put two hamsters on the wheel, it will
get up to Howard County. I'm just really careful about
how I do it because I'm afraid Pat Walsh up
on seven will come down and sell the hamsters off
the wheel. We don't want you to do that, at
least until we get into the new building. Then you
(19:55):
can sell it.
Speaker 6 (19:57):
By the way, the F One movie apparently made six
undred and four million.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
That's a lot.
Speaker 6 (20:01):
It did pretty well, that's a lot.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
J V.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
The IndyCar Game got pushed to twenty twenty six from
I Racing so that I Racing could launch a brand
new NASCAR game in twenty twenty five. Well that's crap.
I just I'm just my whole I guess my whole
wonder here Tony was whether or not it still had
the you know, the same type of feeling, impact focus
(20:30):
that it once had when those video games came out.
I know it still does in college football, it still
does in NFL. Everybody talks about that all the time,
but it seems like racing and that has kind of
been left on the back burner a little bit.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
I will say. I mean when because they released a new,
brand new college football game for the first time in
like a decade last year, and that was a big deal. Sure,
and I think they're trying to do the same with
college basketball now too. So if a game's been gone
for a long time, that could kind of generate interest
and get a lot of people back into it.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Speaking of generating interest, I don't know any Taylor Swift songs,
but I do understand just what Taylor Swift means. So
Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift are engaged. It feels really
weird to talk about this, but all good Like I do,
(21:26):
come from an era of the royal wedding, you know,
like the original royal wedding for me was that nineteen
eighty one. I think Prince Charles and Princess Diana. I
come from the era of Sean Penn and Madonna. Is
this as big as Sean Penn and Madonna was back
in the eighties.
Speaker 6 (21:46):
It feels kind of close.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
I was.
Speaker 6 (21:47):
I will say it was kind of weird getting an
ESPN notification about an engagement that was kind of an
odd thing this morning. But uh yeah, I mean it
certainly feels like it's up there.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
You go in about four years Sean Penn and mad
I bet that was. I bet when the good times
were happening, it was really good times. But then it
pretty much knows to hell in a pretty quick minute.
Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift. I have to give respect
(22:19):
for me not knowing too much, but the amount of
love that Taylor Swift gets from the Swifties, I mean,
is it, by far Taylor Swift, by far is the
most popular entertainment in our universe? Correct?
Speaker 6 (22:34):
Oh yeah, yeah, amazing.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
I never truly understood how all this got started, either
like I think if we if we trail you know,
how Nirvana got started, for example, or how some of
the bigger names. I think we can figure that out
fairly easily. I never really understood why there was such
a ground swell and this creation of the Swifties, which
is cool. Man, do you like what you like? I
(23:00):
say that about music all the time.
Speaker 6 (23:02):
I think the internet being a big thing around when
she started getting big, I think that probably played a
pretty significant role in it.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift going to the tepe and
we're going to get married. I can't name one Taylor
Swift song? Is that bad?
Speaker 6 (23:25):
I don't blame you.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
I feel okay with that. It's not like I'm not
a hater either. I just can't name one song I
don't know. Man Blood bad Blood, which is also a
Neil Sidaka song from the nineteen seventies with Elton John.
Speaker 6 (23:38):
I don't think I could name a single title.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
Is there a bad Blood with Taylor Swift?
Speaker 6 (23:41):
That sounds right?
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Sounds right?
Speaker 6 (23:43):
I don't know if I can name you a single
like actual song title. But if you played them, I
know I would recognize them because I've heard them at
weddings and I've heard them at Walmart and all that stuff.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
The only reason that I recognized bad Blood is because
it was at Neil Sidaka and Elton John song from
the nineteen seventies. Come back with that bad blood song
from the seventies, so we can run everybody off. N
Taylor Swift to Travis Kelcey, Would you consider Travis Kelcey
(24:14):
one of the luckier dudes in our universal rotation?
Speaker 6 (24:19):
He certainly has a right up there. He's been on
a really good run recently.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
See, I always looked at the lucky dudes like in
the form of you know Tommy Lee, you know Rob
Low without some of them stuff specify. So yeah, I've
got to get a little bit more in the tail
of it. Mean, I've always looked at Wow wow kind
of like that those but this is different. I mean, just.
Speaker 6 (24:47):
The tail end, the tail end of his career is
certainly something to be studied because he's been he's been
picking up a lot of wins, both on and off
the field.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
Do you think if they're ever in the car listening
to a Taylor Swift song that he goes yeah, he
goes on, moves on. I can shake it off. I'm
not doing that.
Speaker 6 (25:07):
I don't listen. He's an NFL football player, so they
got they got some stones, But I don't know if
he's that brave.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
Please don't tell me. That their first dance as a
married couple is going to be moon Dance by Van Morrison.
You know I banned that when I was a DJ
back in the nineties. Come on, man, I did it
around Bloomington, and I guess it was anybody that graduated
from IU for whatever reason, they came out of AU
(25:33):
and then got married, and inevitably their first dance as
a couple song they requested was moon Dance by Van Morrison.
And finally I had to put it. I go, come on,
this song sucks.
Speaker 6 (25:47):
We're gonna have to sneak that in as a rejoinder.
One of these days.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
Were Moondance. I can't. It's hard on me here. I've read.
I would rather hear Brown Eyed Girl a thousand times
what you do than Moondance. More soon, all right, quick
break and we shall return three one seven two three
nine ten seventy. That is our text line. If you
want to get in there and tell me how crazy
I am not being fully in love with Moondance by
(26:13):
Van Morrison. Also two three nine ten seventy on the phones,
you can do that. Colts cut down day. We will
follow those stories and the guy that is fully on
top of it Joel A. Erickson of the Star after
five and what they all mean and then what could
take place after they get coming up here in less
than an hour. We'll do that with Joel after five.
(26:35):
Greg Ragstraw joins us in the four Little college, little
high school for you and what is going to be
a busy rest of the week, The strae and the app.
It's HD Radio the Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube Live.
Thank you for joining us. Nainety three five one oh
seventy five, The Fan.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
The Ride with JMV.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
Look at All the Gun Back.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
Ninety three five and one oh seven five Todd Meyer,
the executive producer. Now we're just going over legendary drinkers
of our time. This is bad Blood, James, the Bad
Blood that I know. What do you think tripping a
(27:18):
light fantastic for you?
Speaker 6 (27:19):
I'm sure I think I'd actually like this one better
than whatever Taylor's version of bad Blood is, though I
can't say I remember what Taylor's version sounds like.
Speaker 4 (27:27):
Seriously, though you may go, I don't even know who
Neil Sedaka is, but if you look back on his career,
this guy decades was an absolute hit maker. Blood that's
a good seventy song right here? Good yeah, bad blood,
that's a bad blood that I know. But there is
(27:48):
a Taylor Swift bad blood song too, right yes see,
Fitz says shake It Off is the best song, Not really,
but it gives me a no doubt feeling. Check it off?
Speaker 7 (27:59):
Do ye?
Speaker 4 (28:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (28:00):
Now that someone says the name, I know the song.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
Taylor Swift's song right there? Cool? Taylor Swift is getting
married Travis Kelsey. Who's more fortunate? Who would you do?
We always do that, don't we When somebody gets married,
don't we view which one's more fortunate to be in
that relationship? Who is it? Which one's more fortunate.
Speaker 6 (28:22):
To be in the Relationsheah? How I'd say Travis Kelly.
I mean, have you seen how much she's worth?
Speaker 4 (28:27):
But I mean he's got money too, He's got money,
like he's got an issue with it.
Speaker 6 (28:30):
But I mean he's trying to get into the entertaining.
And I'm not saying that this is the only reason
he's getting with her, but he's trying to kind of
get that post NFL career going, and having Taylor Swift
as your wife isn't a horrible way to go about it.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
That's why I need James, the younger generational voice in here,
because these are things that I simply do not understand.
Well done, well done. So one final thing here, that's
a Hall of Fame catch? Is it not for Travis Kelce? Well,
(29:09):
he made the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and is
he now going in the Hall of Fame of dudes
that score big?
Speaker 6 (29:17):
I would say, you know what I mean, Yeah, I'd say,
he's definitely going to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame,
and he's he's gonna make the guy Hall of Fame
for a for landing a good one.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
Why is there not a Hall of Fame of dudes
who score big? There should be nobody thought about that.
Speaker 6 (29:33):
You could found that, you can make that a thing.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
I think I've said this before once upon a time
that when I was back at the other station, they
had an event. I don't know if anybody out there
remembers this. The event was called TESTOSTERAAMA and it was yep,
it's out at the State Fairgrounds. That is a fantastic
NOSTA rama And I was out there doing my show
live and at the time I can't remember her name,
(29:57):
but it was the X Y of jose Kenseko was
of some significance back then, and she was on with
me with Testosteraama. But you would go out there and
it was nothing but deuced and I'm sure that that
would be that would be incredibly criticized today, basically like
(30:22):
anybody else. But you would walk around wherevery we were
at the State Fair and they would have like they
would have booths and displays of what they like to
call dudes in their natural habitat. So you would walk
by this display and some guy would just be sitting
there with his hands in front of his pants, like
(30:44):
Al Bundy watching TV. It was really weird. Now. Oddly
it only lasted one year. It was the only time
they ever did testoster Rama. Was it a Jessica Conseco
Jessica Knseco. Oh, and I had Jessica Conseko on my show.
(31:06):
I don't even remember what we talked about of significance,
but she was on the show. Is she still around?
Who's she married to? Now?
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (31:12):
I just had her wi somebody with money bags. While
you're looking that up, Testosterama sounds like a Pike party,
There's no doubt, Buddy Barrywood, Testosterama also known as Indiana
Steak Indiana State Pike parties right there because it was
all dudes. Yes.
Speaker 6 (31:31):
According to her Wikipedia, she is not married really yeah.
Doesn't say if she's dating anybody.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
But Dustin Johnson, live Golfer marrying Paulina Gretzky. That's an
all time poll right there. Well done. Congratulations Taylor Swift
and Travis Kelsey Javie. We won't be hearing any tea
(32:00):
on the takeover this weekend, will we. Now you know
what's funny. I rarely play anything of today, and here's why.
It's not because I dislike it, But then I will
have every twelve to fifteen year old in the world
calling in and requesting stuff that I have no idea
what it is, so just a thought. That's why I
(32:27):
got news for you, Calvin. Here's what Calvin hasks. Please
get back to football sports. We don't care about Taylor Swift.
She's in I don't even know what you say here.
I'll tell you what, Calvin. I'll knew whatever the hell
I want anytime I want, and you can either follow
along or feel free. I'll get back to football when
I want to get back to football. Thank you very much, actually,
(32:49):
I just came out to break two minutes ago. What
the hell, Calvin, what's your problem? Nothing major as far
as and there wasn't going to be with the Colts. Really,
you look around the landscape or the NFL, there's nothing
major there either. Somebody has sent me this because I
think most commonly you get an arch manning, well, you
(33:12):
got to tank for Arts. That's what the Colts are doing,
and they're not. They're not tanking for arch at all,
because I think the common theme is that arch Man.
First of all, you expect him to be great, but
you don't know anything yet. Secondly, you have even less
of an idea if the dude after this year is
(33:34):
going to come out because of the finances involved and
how much money he's going to make, Why would he
feel compelled to come out? If the dude is making
seven eight million dollars a year playing collegiate football in Austin, Texas.
So that is a part of what is going on.
(33:55):
And then others feel that maybe you know, you have
the Saints kind of doing the same, maybe tanking a
little bit on a similar level. Spencer Rattler, Well, start
in week number one, and that certainly has been the
feeling in New Orleans, and certainly, you know it may
(34:19):
not even be arch Manning, but the Saints also look
to be deciding long ago that they are going to
be a top level contender for one of the if
not the best quarterback in the draft. And if you
missed yesterday our conversation, we were talking at length regarding
(34:41):
what's coming out of the draft, because all we end
up talking about in this is ultimately Arch Manning. But
how much more we could be looking at or could
evolve during this college football season is going to be interesting.
But how that equates to the Colts is pretty simple.
They expect to be better and win this year. I
(35:03):
mean really, that's why this decision with Daniel Jones took
place pretty easy. They expect him to make them as
a team better, to put them in position to win
more than Anthony Richardson would. And if you're somebody that
believes that they gave up on Anthony Richardson, they absolutely
(35:26):
have given up on Anthony Richardson. They're not going to
tell you they are, but their actions explain something different.
That's okay, you have to make a decision, and if
you are wanting to win, right now and you feel
Daniel Jones gives you that best opportunity, or the better
opportunity than Anthony Richardson. That is, above all else, the
(35:48):
decision they have made. And it's not about tanking, it's
not about losing games. It's just about turning the page.
Now you're gonna say, well, I bet we still see Richardson,
and you're right, we always do. But you can't tell
me whatsoever without some some kind of stratispheric clodochismic experience
(36:17):
at quarterback with Richardson, you can't tell me that he's
ever going to solidify back in there again. Kind the
opportunity will he have? Zero? So they are trying to
win and win right now and then find out where
they are. And the problem you have with that, more
so than anything else, that turns you over into a
(36:41):
mediocre team, as we have witnessed over the years, and
you stay in the same spot. That's the problem. Now,
if you're looking for something positive, you know what if
Daniel Jones is reborn, does have a rebirth. I'm not
(37:01):
the biggest fan of well look what Baker Mayfield did
in Tampa, because I would love to see them have
a better quarterback than Baker Mayfield. But at the same time,
I understand this to be true. Whatever works for you,
and if it works for you, go with it. So
I think everybody right now here you would take a
Baker Mayfield type of performance. Now, even if that doesn't
(37:25):
thrill you as much as you want to be thrilled
with your starting quarterback, but you would take it right now,
and you certainly would take it right now considering what
you have witnessed in the past. Jamie, excuse me. People
are going to get me in that other douche, well,
(37:47):
the other the other Calvin's not a douche. But I
just think we all understand that here we ride together
on this bad boy, and the old ltimate decision about
the dialogue is going to come down to me. It's
all right, that's the way that it goes. Everybody else
does it, and if you don't do it that way,
(38:08):
you better right quick break and we shall return. We've
got Greg. At the top of the hour, I felt
that Friday number one in high school football was as
good as advertised. Really across the board. Maybe not a
lot of surprises as you felt you might see, but
we got that. We've got IU Old Dominion, Purdue and
(38:29):
Bowl State, Notre Dame in Miami, when Ohio State and Texas,
you've got Clemson in LSU. We're big game hunting with
Greg Reichstraw coming up at the top of the hour
and the latest on the Colts cuts with Joel A.
Ericsson to the Star. He's been on top of this
all day. The biggest news of the day would be
(38:53):
tight end. Jelannie Woods and I would be in that
category of thinking that there was going to be more
there than we did end up seeing. We'll see if
Houston may have any interest. Now again, the problem he
has had is staying available big on the field. Isaiah
(39:17):
Lamb was another guy that had really a nice game
on Saturday that also has been wave. Joel joins us
coming up after five with the latest on that and more.
In a busy week, as I mentioned, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
on the road, I can tell you how you can
join the show and how you better be with us,
(39:37):
especially on Thursday on the tavern tour stop that and more.

read your email.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
That e three five and one oh seven five the Fan.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
No, good Lord, I'm sorry. I think this song is awful?
Am I wrong?
Speaker 6 (40:22):
I don't think it's bad.
Speaker 4 (40:23):
I think we need a text line poll here. Moondance
Van Morrison bad. This is from Kyle in Austin, Texas JMV.
Regarding Moondance, there was a legendary music professor at IU
that taught history of rock and roll named Glenn Gas
(40:45):
my favorite class that rhymes at IU. He would constantly
speak of his love of Van Morrison, and he had
it played at his wedding. Perhaps this could explain I
think this theory is outstanding. Kyle and Allston, Texas could
explain some of the demand for this song at local weddings.
(41:08):
I think I did it at the Bloomington Convention Center,
the Country Club of Bloomington, and it just taught me
not to like it. Moondance Van Morrison. I know, I know,
I should be better. It's a classic. I'm just not
(41:34):
how many of you are going to run out and
buy the new signature Nike shoe of Caitlin Clark. And
I will tell you this, I don't care what it
looks like, who makes it, if it's comfortable on my feet.
And that's what happens, because it used to matter what
it looked like more than anything else, didn't it. You
(41:59):
remember all the shoe shoes we put on in the
day that the box was probably more comfortable that they
actually came in than the shoes themselves, but we got them.
That could have had to have been the reason, the
only reason I wore lottos. Anybody else wear lottos in
(42:19):
the day. Yeah, those were uncomfortable. Keem Elajahwan's etonics uncomfortable,
Dominique Wilkins Brooks uncomfortable. I can go on and on
and on. Oftentimes we wear shoes because the way that
they look then. Now for me, it is all about
the comfort. And I'll give you the greatest example of
(42:40):
all time. I swear to you and somebody had asked this,
I wear you, ready, James, I wear pink New Balance
right now. Pink New Balance, pink and maybe the ugliest
shoe of all time.
Speaker 6 (42:56):
Have you ever worn a pink shoe before.
Speaker 4 (42:58):
I've never worn a pink shoe before, but I tried
about a thousand on and they were the most comfortable.
I swear to you. Somebody asked me the other day
when I was planning, They go, you know, what's whose
shoes are those? Because they're new Balance and is that
Cooper flag signature shoe? And I said, no, I think
it's Cameron Brinks. So I believe I'm wearing Cameron Brinks
(43:22):
signature shoe right now. I believe.
Speaker 6 (43:24):
Hey, man, if they're comfortable, I don't care all the
power to so listen, I'll try the Kaitlin.
Speaker 4 (43:29):
If it's comfortable, I'm gonna wear it. I don't care
if it's tracks. I don't care if it sears the
winners too. I don't care if it's Tom McCann red
ball jets. I'll wear it.
Speaker 6 (43:41):
So put put you down for a pair.
Speaker 4 (43:43):
Yes, at least I gotta try them on and see
that's fair. Yeah, but I swear I wear right now.
I think the Cameron Brinks signature shoe, I've well moved
past it. I used to wear all the Air Jordan's.
I wore the Nike dunks because of how they looked
I had the Barkleys in the nineties. Seriously, the Barkleys
(44:06):
playing basketball. I might as well have been playing basketball
in Timberland boots, and now I'm wearing the signature shoe
of Cameron Brink. All right, quick break Jamis, says Greg Ragshaw.
On the other side, college football has got a big weekend.
We'll get into that and Friday Night number two will
(44:27):
play off of the opener of this past Friday and
get Greg's thoughts on what took place that high school
football little college Joel Erickson, the cuts will be in
and we'll go over it with a fine tooth comb.
Coming up with the five o'clock Hour with Joel Natty

Speaker 1 (44:47):
The Ride with JMV just one.
Speaker 5 (44:49):
I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber.
Speaker 1 (44:54):
You go and do something like this and totally reveem
yourself ninety three five and one oh seven five The Fan.
Speaker 4 (45:04):
Block by Block says, I completely agree. The rock and
roll class at IU was awesome. Professor also loved James
Into the Mystic, which is what todd Meyer was talking about.
We should play on Saturday night at Mystic Waters Campground.
Into the mystic block by block that was the embody
(45:28):
else out there. Take the IU History of Rock and
Roll class, I've got a ton of people said that
they did at in the state. I took the History
of Western Film and I got an a. I got
an a in Rio Bravo. You start to get an
a in Rio Bravo. I got an a in the
(45:50):
Wild Bunch and outlawed Josie Wales an a. I was
a star student. I also took the History of Women
in Film and was not at all a star student.
Speaker 6 (46:07):
There didn't do quite as well.
Speaker 4 (46:09):
Now, No, they didn't like my takes on the great
Sybil Danning and her impact on film. And I once
we had to make our own film, and me and
some Green County fellas made a film with the backdrop
to Lou Reed's Take a Walk on the wild Side,
(46:32):
and the girls in the class were not fond of it.
Speaker 6 (46:38):
See now, I would love to watch this. I don't
know if you have a copy of this.
Speaker 4 (46:42):
Fun Zero Way, and it's still around too. It is
still around. And they were not fond. I got because
they would send you anonymous notes on what they felt,
and everything had something sexist in it. You're a sexist.
P you're a sexist this you're yeah, So it was
a wonder I could ever have.
Speaker 1 (47:01):
A date in Tarot.
Speaker 4 (47:04):
So not good.
Speaker 6 (47:06):
So this doesn't sound like something we should put out
on it, so it would not be good.
Speaker 4 (47:11):
No, I believe I got an f I don't think
the instructor liked it either. Bad, But I thought I
thought it was original and they didn't feel the same.
Speaker 6 (47:28):
Is that when you knew your days as a filmmaker
were limited?
Speaker 4 (47:32):
Yes, yes, yeah. Take a Walk in the wild Side
did sound good in the background, though there were just
a couple of lines in there that probably should have
been left in the cutting room floor.
Speaker 6 (47:47):
Sometimes a good soundtrack that's all you need, man.
Speaker 4 (47:50):
So true right there. Jam V Van Morrison's Into the
Mystic was Jim and Michelle Levenstein's first dance American Wedding.
Oh Yeah, American Pie franchise, Thank You much Better Wedding,
jam Thank you, Jordan, the Andy Moore Auto Monich group
(48:10):
plotline Let's Bring You On? Also the postgame show host
also a caller to the JMV takeover following preseason Game
three during the play by play on Fox fifty nine,
Greg Rakestraw joins us, I'm trying to really kind of
spark up a little conversation about cutdown days so far
and that being specific, but we all know that it's
still a non specific thing, even with the cuts that
(48:32):
are going to be made. And frankly, Greg, there's not
a great deal of drama in what's going on with
this today around here.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
No, just because you know you've heard me say this before,
during the course of the offseason, I thought there were
the few most massive questions you could have. Everything else
was seemingly pretty cut and dry. You know who is
a certain quarterback's going to be. Now we know who
that is going to be. And now the other question
we're going to answer to for about nineteen weeks are
you a playoff team? And we will start finding out
(48:59):
that week. But no, there there simply was not that
so kind of blotted out the sun the quarterback drama
that there, frankly was in a lot of drama in
terms of tight end, running back, wide receiver, using positions
people tend to care about. Maybe there's some drama about
a cornerback, maybe there's some drama about a backup offensive lineman.
With the fifty three man roster, John I thought was
(49:21):
pretty well set going to the training camp and nothing
has changed.
Speaker 4 (49:24):
That Greg graystraw And and Andy Moore Automotive Group Hootline. So
the focus they have clearly had since lou Aniroumo came
on board is in that secondary. Has it been more,
especially recently, more about necessity with bodies or more about
maybe Ana Roumo And you're number one dictating the tempo
(49:46):
for what he wants in an individual, especially in that secondary,
what do you think?
Speaker 2 (49:51):
I think it's more about bodies, you know, I mean
you look at the injuries to you know, Juju Brentz
to Jalen Jones. Obviously he was justin Wall. You lose
on a roller for the season, You lose Kenny Moore
for a part of training camp. You know, Chris Lamons
was a guy that came in and you know, was
late to camp, but at least knew the previous system.
Was the guy that Chris Ballard knew played frankly well
(50:14):
in training camp, but looks like, you know, maybe he's
a practice squad candidate at best. So you know, is
lou going to have his you know, fingerprints on the
defense will of course it's going to be his system.
But I think this is more about just adversity opportunity
because they were such a mass unit cornerback for a
good chunk of training camp.
Speaker 4 (50:35):
I had mentioned this to Stephen Holder yesterday and he
went with with Mooney Chavarius Ward, and I thought that
that was a good call as far as the most
important individual defensively. We all get caught up at the
offense and the quarterback debate and really until further notice,
until we see something, we kind of know what that's
going to be. But we've rarely talked about the defense.
(50:55):
And while I agree that that's a good choice, I
still say the evolution of Leaatu Latu and the jumping
he can make after his rookie season and what he
can do consistently in quarterback pressure, to me, that makes
him the most important individual defensively.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
What do you think I would agree with that?
Speaker 2 (51:16):
You know, and one of the things that struck me
as interesting a training camp was that Laatu Latsu j
T two E Moloau And after saying that for three
consecutive games, I've now got that last name down, come
well if.
Speaker 4 (51:26):
You know them more time helped me out on that
j T two.
Speaker 3 (51:29):
E moloaw five J.
Speaker 5 (51:32):
J.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
You've nailed it, see.
Speaker 4 (51:35):
J, I need to be looking at it. Did you
have to look at it a lot of times to
first start it? How'd you do the process?
Speaker 3 (51:42):
I just had to say it. I just had.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
You know, It's kind of like they would teach other
swimming Southern Indiana John throwing the deep end. You figured
out how you don't uh, And so that's how it
played out. But you would see those two guys, and
you would see it in the guys that are going
to get cut. Looks like in terms of Isaiah Land
and Richard Little from UAB And basically it was a
situation where those guys were almost kind of like I
(52:04):
wouldn't say warm up separately, but they were like different
from the other defensive alignment in the words, they almost
kind of strike you as like what you would have
in terms of like, you know, relievers that would get
one out in baseball. You know, you know, they kind
of their own thing. You have one job, go get
the quarterback and so yes, uh, you know, if Layasu
(52:26):
Latsu can go from near misses to getting more sacks,
that changes the dynamics for everybody involved on that football team.
So I think the improvement of the defense will be
mirrored by what Layatsu Latsu can do with his one skill,
Go get the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (52:44):
Colt's cut down Day is happening throughout the NFL. In
fat we'll get some of the updates with Joel a
Ericson in less than an hour from the Star on
the Andy Moro on a Motors Group plotline, Greg Rakestraw,
he is with us. Conventional wisdom has been with Daniel
Jones as the Week one starter that a lot more
can be made better, especially with the underneath game and
(53:07):
the shorter passing routes. A lot more accuracy and efficiency there.
But all of a sudden, Alec Pearce will be eliminated.
You take him out of the equation with the deep ball.
Is that necessarily the case in your opinion?
Speaker 3 (53:21):
I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (53:22):
Now will he lead the league in yards per catch
by five yards the way that he did last year? No,
But one of the things that you would hear him
talk about and Shane Siken talk about, you know, we
kind of label him as just a deep threat guy,
and both Alegant channel like, no, we feel he can
hear himself in that case, can be can be an
every down receiver, can be an all fastest receiver. Well
(53:45):
we're going to find out again. I still think he
can be a deep thread. I don't think Jones is
as good with the deep ball as Richardson is, obviously,
but there's it's just going to go out of the offense.
You know, let's think about you know, Minshew was kind
of a guy where you didn't think the deep ball
was there. But the last guy before that, you're like, well,
the guy can't throw a deep ball would be Philip Rivers.
(54:06):
You know, this offense still had from time to time
deep shots. Every offense in the National Football League has
that Fierce will be that guy. But now this will
be his chance to showcase he can be a route
runner underneath guy, more of an intermediate receiver as well.
Speaker 4 (54:22):
Most important aspect of this team. Let's just say against
Miami in Week one. We've got a week and a
half until it's officially underway, but most important aspect for
this team, where do you start?
Speaker 2 (54:36):
You know, it sounds rudimentary, and it sounds like what
the Colts have focus on. But the one thing that
you know, I think most people know not to put
too much stock into preseason results. But the one thing
that you just can't replicate in training camp because you're
not going to fully tackle the guy or you're not
going to replicate it in a preseason game because he
(54:58):
had one carry. It's ability to run the football. It's
ability to have Jonathan Taylor consistently run the football. He
is still, without doubt, your best offensive weapon. And if
he can be a home run hitter and be a
guy that's in the vicinity of one hundred yards every game,
he makes everyone around him better. So to me, that's
(55:22):
where you start.
Speaker 3 (55:22):
With the base.
Speaker 2 (55:24):
If he's getting twenty carries, if he's getting one hundred yards,
if he's going for a big player to every game,
this is going to be a whole lot better football team.
Speaker 4 (55:32):
John is Greg Grace Raw. He's on the Andy Moro
at a motive group, pileline and little college in high
school coming up in his second where you'd all surprised,
and we'll see if he ends up back on the
practice squad or if there's any interest in anyplace else.
But somebody you called a lot of his games. He's
been on the show a number of times. You actually
talked to him on this show. Once upon a time
when I was out a year ago, Carson Steele was
(55:55):
released by the Chiefs. So see what ultimately he goes.
I haven't seen anything new as far as he's going
back to the practice squad or if there's any other interest.
But would that move in Kansas City surprising?
Speaker 2 (56:07):
Well, I can't say that I have studied their roster
to give you an intelligent answer you. Injuries played a
part in him getting a look last year when he
was first brought on by the Chiefs. Last year, he
was brought on as a guy that thought would be
a fullback. So I would think offenses that years a
fullbacker in h back, that's where Carson would be the best.
(56:29):
Ones that are kind of power rushing attacks where Carson
be the best. My thought would be is that the
Chiefs would probably like to have him back on the
practice squad if he clears waivers and as the opportunity.
Speaker 4 (56:41):
Is greg with us. How about Week one of high
school football this past Friday night. I didn't think there
were like dynamic upsets, but I thought the quality of football,
especially in Week one starting out, was pretty good across
the board and across the state.
Speaker 2 (56:57):
I would agree with that I think there were some
games that were closer than expected. And I'll tell you
the game that I had was closer than I thought
it would be between LC and l N and l
EN winning with a second left to go to in
that game thirty four to twenty seven. That was an
LC team that had a lot of question marks, you know,
kind of coming into the season. So good on them
for making that rivalry game competitive and if they can
(57:19):
replicate that the rest of the way the long term,
that team is going to be just fine. I think
Carmel beating Fishers by twenty five got a lot of
people's attention and it's kind of once again improves to you, Hey,
Kevin gractually good.
Speaker 3 (57:32):
At his job.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
I mean, he's coaching at a high school level. There
aren't that many that are better than him. There are.
There were some upsets across the state, you know, Lures
losing in week one, Central Catholic getting beat at home
in week one by Seeger caught some folks attention. I
think in the local area. The results were what we
kind of thought they would be. Maybe Avon beaten Decatur
(57:55):
Central was a bit of a surprise, even though Rob
Gibson's doing a good job over there in Hendrix County.
But again the results were mostly what thought they would be.
Maybe the margins were a little closer in some of
those games.
Speaker 4 (58:07):
Is it the guy from Owen Valley?
Speaker 2 (58:09):
Originally he was formerly at Owen Valley, played at Marion
and I want to say former South Putnam guy. I
know Putnham County. I hope I gave him the right
alma mater. But yes, he was the head coach at
ob before taking the Avon.
Speaker 4 (58:22):
Job Brownsburg and they beat a top ranked national team
in Spaulding this past Friday. And then you get a
matchup in week number two with Cathedral. What are you
thinking about that?
Speaker 2 (58:35):
Well, Cathedral, we kind of see Cathedral one and Ben
Davis don't apologize for it.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
The store.
Speaker 2 (58:41):
The Cathedral Ben Davis game was eight nothing and it's
a Ben Davis team that ain't have some problems scoring
at times this year, and so we're going to learn
a lot more about Cathedral. But at the same time,
it's now Cathedral for the first time in a handful
of years that's not playing to sixth A, that's going
to play in five A. So one of those games,
(59:02):
if it doesn't move well, for Cathedral, you just kind
of shrug your silvers. All right, we're going to beat
these guys this year, don't have to. The only issue
for Cathedral is you're in the same sexual as Newpal,
who might be amongst the best five or six teams
in the state regardless of classification. So good down Brownsberg
for winning that game. But we'll kind of get the
more of a true indication as to how they stack
(59:23):
up against the best teams in Indiana coming up on
Friday night.
Speaker 4 (59:26):
You also mentioned Decatur Central and they get New Pal
coming up this weekend too.
Speaker 2 (59:32):
Correct, and that had been the stopping point for them
in previous years in five A. That is not the
case this year because again the cater Central is in
six A. I think that both Holson is a little
bit of an injury their quarterback, and so that kind
of gets your attention again. I think the cater Central
can have a really good year, and they largely play
five A competition, including New Pal this week. The five
(59:53):
A competition in this week on because it's the mid
state conference they are in. I thought putting that Avon
game on the it certainly was great for them because
that very much will be indicative of the type of
team they would see come postseason time because they're in
the same sectional. North Central ELC and l en is
the cater Central for the next couple of years.
Speaker 4 (01:00:12):
Dreg Rayshaw's and the Andy Moore on a motive group
plotline and North Central won a football game on the
high school level for the first time and how long Friday.
Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
First time since October twenty twenty one. Wow, thirty two
game losing streak. Frankly for a chunk of that they
were better than that would indicate, you know, if you're
the worst team in the mix or a bad team
in sit say, you're still better than the majority of
teams that play Indiana high school football. For buff last
year was they're really good for a team. They are
(01:00:41):
much younger this year, that was a game that I
thought North Central would get. I think North Central has
a chance to be in a neighborhood of five hundred
be a four or five win team. They've got hammelt
in Southeastern coming into town on Friday night. I think
that game will be competitive, and I think that I
think the more compet to give it credit for, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:01:01):
I had Alan on.
Speaker 2 (01:01:02):
Friday night They've got some great individual talent in Zay Moore,
in Lonchon Sales. They returned four starters defensively, but very
young in other places too. And so I kind of
think that the top and bottom of the sixteen mick
maybe a little closer than they have been in most years.
And Ason Brobrick is more central is a better team.
Speaker 4 (01:01:22):
So Greg Greg Straw's of the Andy Moore Automotive Group plotline.
So Center Grove beat Warren on the east side, Warren
gets Warsaw coming up. On Friday, CG travels to Fort
Wayne Carol lost by seven to Hamilton Southeastern. How do
you size up that matchup.
Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
In terms of Center Grove up farm Way.
Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Center Grove. Center Grove should win again.
You know, Center Grove's offense was good, not great against Warren.
Part of that is, again Warren is really good on
defense for his second year. They're kind of a defensive first,
you know, type of team. Center Grove has a young
quarterback but a very talented core back. So I think
Center Grove is a team that has a lot of
(01:02:03):
room for growth from the beginning of the season to
the end of the season. You know, that game last year,
Centergrove basically and Carol played a half before storms came
in and Sina Grove was deemed to be the winner.
Sinerdrove should win that game. I think they will. I'm
not sure it's a blowout, but I took them to
win that game. Agat to two and zero.
Speaker 4 (01:02:23):
Hi, Greg, three nothing, Ron Colli over four. How many
in your recollection three nothing wins do you remember in
high school football recently?
Speaker 3 (01:02:36):
Not a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:02:36):
I think Sentergrove beat Ben Davis four to three on
it had to be a pair of safeties about twenty
or so years ago. I just rattled off an eight
nothing game. I had the state finals game ironically between
Dwengger Emmonsville Central that was storeless going to overtime a
handful of years.
Speaker 3 (01:02:53):
Ago in a four eight championship game.
Speaker 2 (01:02:55):
So they happen not often when the weather conditions are
as night has stay last Friday. But to me, the
story of that game was the fact that Ron Colly
had been playing Southport and their opener for many years,
and you know that game went away just because Southport
has not been as competitive. Good on Dwinger for coming
(01:03:16):
down to Indianapolis. We talked about this a little bit
more last year than this year. But for many years,
the Summit the Athletic Conference had been a ten team
league and you played a full round robin, and those
Fort Wayne schools did not have the chance to compete
against the Indianapolis schools to kind of give them, you know,
the barometer. All right, this is what the postseason looks like.
So good on Dwinger for coming down here and playing
(01:03:37):
that game.
Speaker 3 (01:03:38):
They got beat. They'll be a better team because they
played that game.
Speaker 4 (01:03:41):
John Night, I know that IU was excited about getting
AYU football back off again with ODU, But where's the
level of excitement that you've noticed with Purdue the Barry
Odemara ball state and you know, anything, I guess anything
is better than what they witnessed a year ago, right, anything?
Speaker 3 (01:04:02):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:04:03):
Basically, I think everybody acknowledges that Purdue football is in
a better place with Barry odom just because his staff.
Speaker 3 (01:04:11):
Is more experienced.
Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
But I also think most are saying, listen, what Kurt
Signetti did last year in Bloomington was pretty otherworldly, and
I'm not sure anybody in West Lofiette expects that. The
way their schedule works, you know, Franklish won their first
couple of games, and then if they can find a
way to win another game or two, it's probably gonna
(01:04:34):
be a good year for Barry. Again, what Kurt did
last year in Bloomington was utterly remarkable. Most Botherer Maker
fans don't think that this team will come close to it,
but they think the groundwork is there for some success
in the not so distant future.
Speaker 4 (01:04:49):
I you, oh, do you? We've talked about this before.
When everybody complains about Kurt Signetti and the scheduling, we're
both on the same page because you do what you
do to get the job done, and there's a formula
for Signetti, whether it's in Bloomington or James Madison, that
has worked. Why go away from it.
Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
Here's what I would say, is this, John, it's it's
it's a problem. It's not a problem until it is.
And I don't think in the current playoff math that
it's going to be.
Speaker 3 (01:05:19):
Folks.
Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
This is this is the reality of being in a
big boy conference. You don't have to play that tough
of a three game non conference schedule. When you play
nine league games. There's a lot of back and forth
when the SEC folks that say, hey, you know we're
playing more power teams than are non conference, and the
(01:05:40):
and the Big Ten response has basically been, yeah, you
play eight league games and you all play mercer the
week before Thanksgiving. You know these things sends you balting
each other.
Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
Album.
Speaker 3 (01:05:49):
Indiana made, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
The college ball playoff last year playing a very similar schedule.
So if you know in a two team playoff you're
not making it, in a fourteen playoff, you're not making
it in a twelve team playoff, and it might be
sixteen or held a Big Ten seam he wants to
might a third of college football to the postseason.
Speaker 3 (01:06:09):
They're gonna make it again.
Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
You have the immediate evidence from last year. So if
I you or to somehow sago eleven to one or
ten and two and not make the postseason, then guess
what you're looking at changing your non differed schedule to
play somebody that's better. But until that scenario plays out,
Indiana's perfectly fine doing it exactly as they did it
(01:06:34):
a season ago.
Speaker 4 (01:06:35):
Nothing wrong with it. Notre Dame and Miami as well.
By the way, Notre Dame goes to Miami and then
they're off, and then a and m. Purdue and in Fayetteville.
I believe that game's in Faaleville right against Arkansas and
Boise stayed say that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:50):
I have the Notre Dame schedule with.
Speaker 4 (01:06:53):
It, I'll go call Kevin Bowen because I'm sure he does.
Speaker 3 (01:06:56):
You'll have it, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:06:58):
Call him all right. Anyway, tough, tough schedule you would think,
at least in the early stages for the fighting Irish well, to.
Speaker 2 (01:07:06):
Be honest with you, because of those ACC games and
Service Academy games.
Speaker 3 (01:07:10):
Yeah, no name has to go play that schedule.
Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
Indiana does not. Indiana has those games handed to them
by being one of the two power brokers of college football.
It's just the way it works.
Speaker 4 (01:07:20):
Where are you Friday?
Speaker 3 (01:07:22):
Carmel and Westfield?
Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
So I'll see just how improved nice seven rights Carmel Greyhounds.
Speaker 4 (01:07:26):
Are does a coach make? Can a coach make that
much difference? Certainly on that level? In in an immediate category.
Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
We saw it in week one, when you know, we'll
learn how good Fishers is in future weeks. We'll see
it again. Westfield, you know, was the runner up, didn't
miss the state finals by much. Brownsburg is number one
this week. Westfield is number two. I think Westfield won
their opener twenty eight nothing if I if I recall correctly,
we're going to learn a lot about how good both
those teams are. Come Friday night and even back to
(01:07:57):
last year again, Week two was an awful weather night,
and some teams got started and just called their games early.
Some teams came back and finished. Carmel led that game, went.
Speaker 3 (01:08:09):
To the next day and got beat and then they.
Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
Ended up finishing three and seven, and hence, you know,
made a coaching change. But to answer your question, I've
been around Kevin Wright teams. Yeah, he's that good. He
makes that big of a difference that coach is that good.
Speaker 4 (01:08:25):
John great, great Shaw. Here's on the Andy Moore Automotive
Group potline. Well done. There's always great call. By the
way on Saturday too, thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
I had an alternate thought that I may say for
future calls. You know, I try to always have like
a theme and bring stuff in. So since so many
colts had a breakout performance and it was an eighty show,
I almost requested swing out sister on the program, so
I may save that for a.
Speaker 4 (01:08:54):
Future There's actually breakout is their signature. But there's another
one that's even better. I think it's really like their
second I can't remember off the top of my head
what it is right now, but it's pretty solid too well.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Pretty much Breakout was the you know, the exclusive you
know track in my mind that I ever triud to
that band.
Speaker 4 (01:09:13):
So nice, well done, all right, I'll be looking forward
on Saturday if you're around, see you, buddy. Mystic Waters
Campground by the way, coming up on Saturday. Greg Grayster
on They any More Automotive Group potline Mystic Waters Campground
Friday and Saturday. Friday afternoon for the show. I believe
Taylor's Pub is going to bring out a little bit
of food, which is always good. Shout out to them,
(01:09:35):
and then coming up on Saturday in the afternoon Ford's Garage,
to my knowledge, we'll be bringing out some food for us.
So basically it's a weekend at Mystic Waters Campground that's
coming up on Friday and Saturday. Tavern tour stop coming
up in Noblesville that is going to be easy to
(01:09:57):
find as well on the Square at Noblesville Tavern tour
stop with Brent and I coming up on Thursday at
sids Sid's just celebrated eighty years, and we'll continue the
celebration almost a month later at Sid's for a tavern
tour stop coming up on Thursday. So plenty of opportunities
(01:10:21):
and I cannot wait to see you. This is always
this third time we've done this, and it's always a
tremendous time and I love seeing everybody up there. It's
a weekend where we all kind of hang out and
stay some special events planned college football and the big
screen there. It shall be awesome. All we needs you
and I look for you all weekend long, whether it's
(01:10:44):
Sids and Noblesville Thursday or Mystic Waters Campground Friday and Saturday. Hey,
don't go anywhere, stick right here. Joe A. Erickson the
latest on cuts and what it might mean for the
Colts and maybe eyeballing another team's cut down list to
bring into a lot more for you. With Joel coming
up at the top of the hour. And we also
(01:11:05):
have a fantasy football league that we're going to fill.
How do you you want to I know that I
want to put Paul Montgomery, who is in front of
the show once in but how many spots will we
have after that?
Speaker 6 (01:11:17):
After we get Paul in there, we will have three
spots still left to fill.
Speaker 4 (01:11:22):
Three after that?
Speaker 5 (01:11:23):
Three?
Speaker 4 (01:11:23):
All right, now, we got you covered then, so we'll
do that. You want to do that one today?
Speaker 6 (01:11:28):
Yeah, we could do one today.
Speaker 4 (01:11:30):
You want to do calls? Or do you want to
do text? Or how do you want to do it?
Speaker 6 (01:11:34):
We've done text the last couple of times, so you
want to mix it up and do some calls you
want to, Yeah, let's do it, all right? C to
call not now though, yeah, not now? Just call at
number nine whenever.
Speaker 4 (01:11:45):
You to call too, And it's for a bunch of
sampling if you know what I mean. You know what
I mean, You guys that have wanted the past, you
know what I get. We we we splurge big time
with having held Distillery Explain coming up and somebody's going
to get a chance to be involved in our fantasy
football league. Don't Go Anywhere, The Straight in the app
(01:12:06):
Aced Radio, the Triple A Membership Lounge via YouTube live,
and Naughty three to five and one oh seven five.
Speaker 1 (01:12:11):
The Fan, The Ride with jmvs Esporto's Motor Hits, Geeks, sluts, bloods, wasteoids.
Do we bees say all adore if they think he's
a righteous dude ninety three to five and one oh
seven five the fan James over there. Joel Ericksson will
(01:12:35):
be here at the top of the hour. Colts cuts
uh the latest. We've documented a few so far, the
most noticeable, which again there's nothing that is surprising about
it to this point. But Jelanie Woods the tied end
once upon a time had a great deal of promise,
and we'll see he's been on the practice squad before.
Speaker 4 (01:12:56):
See if anybody wants to give it a shot. Well
off to Joel about that coming up at the top
of the hour. Meantime two three nine ten seventy is
the number three one seven two three nine ten seventy.
That is the tex sallon if you want to go
there at JMV ten seventy. If you want to go
to the social media platform x, we can do that
as well, say Danie Rolovski tomorrow, Say Kevin Neilan's going
(01:13:23):
to call in later on this week? Is that true?
Is he here in town on Labor Day weekend?
Speaker 6 (01:13:26):
He is doing a show here. I think it's coming
up this Labor Day weekend. I am still trying to
get a final time kind of figured out, but hopefully
sometime in the next three days.
Speaker 1 (01:13:35):
We should get him.
Speaker 4 (01:13:36):
Vin Nielan a great deal, big time friend of Adam Sadler,
I believe. And then back to back to back days
twice at Mystic Waters Campground. That's uh Friday and Saturday
and Tavern tour stop Noblesville. Sids will see you there
coming up on Thursday meantime two three, nine, ten seventy.
(01:13:56):
Promise some calls and Anthony's going to lead here on
this Tuesday. Hello Anthony, how are you.
Speaker 3 (01:14:02):
Bud jamb I'm great? How are you, Anthony?
Speaker 4 (01:14:05):
Outstanding? What's up?
Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
So?
Speaker 7 (01:14:08):
I was listening to Jake a little bit yesterday I
was listening to you.
Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
I was busy.
Speaker 7 (01:14:11):
You guys were talking about the whole quarterback situation. I
know it's been hashed over a thousand times, but to me,
it just looks like they never had a plan. And
Jake had a really good argument yesterday. He was going
through all the teams that had quarterback changes since Andrew
Luck retired and all how everything shook out. I mean,
(01:14:32):
we we'd be happy with Baker Mayfield right now, wouldn't we.
Speaker 4 (01:14:35):
No, No, there's no doubt. And listen, Anthony, people would
be happy with Carson Wentz right now and his stats
true story, I mean, you go twenty seven he said,
they would love his stats right now, love it.
Speaker 7 (01:14:48):
I just don't understand how they didn't have a plan.
They knew Richardson was a project. We keep giving all
these excuses for Ballard. I don't think stichen is this
genius that he has been claim to be quarterback guru
if he can't get what he needs to get out
of Richardson, Who's got all the talent in the world,
but he can't pick up a blitz like I just
(01:15:10):
don't understand.
Speaker 4 (01:15:11):
Anthony that has been I've stated this all along. The
most disciplining aspect of all of this is the fact
that you go into year number three, week number one,
and for the reasons I think you just accurately described
your quarterback, your project can't be ready to take over
as a starter in Daniel Jones twenty games under five
(01:15:34):
hundred and six years and may just simply be what
he is by now is going to take your spot.
And this staff, this coach that pounded the table that
vehemently wanted him here, wanted to take on that project,
wanted to see what they can mold and do to
him evidently couldn't come close. That is the worst part
(01:15:58):
of all of this, because again, all you end up
doing is backpedally. It's year after year, and that's why
I said this last year at the end of the year,
I said, Hey, if he doesn't start in week number one,
if he's not the quarterback this year, then why are
we running all of this back? Why is all this
coming back? And that's exactly how I feel. We'll see
what happens with a season. Maybe you catch lightning in
(01:16:21):
a bottle with Daniel Jones. That'd be great because the
fan base deserves it. But I don't know why you're
going through all this when this is the outcome going
into year number three, and even a lot of the
average fans saw this, especially a year ago, coming and
here we are again.
Speaker 7 (01:16:40):
A can an old Champ get a spot in the
Fantasy League?
Speaker 4 (01:16:43):
Old Champ Anthony with a spot in the league. What
do you think, James, old Champ Anthony?
Speaker 6 (01:16:52):
When did you win?
Speaker 3 (01:16:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:16:54):
I believe it was the very first year I actually
got to come in and co host the show with John.
Speaker 3 (01:16:58):
It was amazing.
Speaker 6 (01:16:59):
Oh, this is before my time, It is before your time.
Speaker 4 (01:17:02):
Right there. What do you think, James, Yeah, give them
all right beyond Anthony, stay on hold, you talk James into.
Speaker 3 (01:17:13):
It on this weekend.
Speaker 7 (01:17:14):
I got a sick dog, so I can't make it out.
Speaker 4 (01:17:17):
Wait a minute, you can't. You can't join me with
the sick dog.
Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
Oh she's she's like thirteen.
Speaker 7 (01:17:23):
We're basically in hops discare with her.
Speaker 4 (01:17:25):
Man.
Speaker 7 (01:17:25):
We're trying to just comfortable and keep her happy.
Speaker 4 (01:17:29):
My man, baby girl, Anthony, you're in there, you go.
I love you, John Brother, I appreciate you. I think
Jake just had his draft. I don't know who's all
in his draft, but I think he had his at
Chicago's Pizza and Greenwood last night. He had called me
on his way home. I believe that to be the case.
(01:17:56):
But our fantasy league, and I'm kind of careful how
I were this anymore. We used to be a little
bit more cavalier in what we said went to the winner.
But I think I used to call it a bar restock.
I don't know what's wrong with that particular dialogue or
what's wrong with describing it that way. That's basically what
(01:18:18):
it is. From heaven Hill Distillery, thank you very much,
which is always good a JAMV. I completely agree. I
don't really care whose signature shoe it is. If it's comfortable,
I think we're all at that age. If it's comfortable,
I'm gonna wear it. It's a true story. If it's comfortable,
(01:18:41):
you wear it. Jordan Schultz hits this, and this is
more secondary and more relation or connection with lou Ana Romo.
The Colts will work out veteran cornerback Mike Hilton, that's
coming up tomorrow, according to Jordan Schultz mutual interest. Of course,
(01:19:04):
Hilton played for lou Anarumo during his time with the
Bengals thirteen career interceptions. So, Mike Kilton, this is another
one of those dynamics where you make cuts, you get
to cut down and it still may not be your spot.
(01:19:25):
Did you look at me funny over there?
Speaker 6 (01:19:26):
For a reason, I'll tell you.
Speaker 4 (01:19:28):
Oh boy, is somebody upset? Have I upset somebody?
Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
Now?
Speaker 6 (01:19:34):
No one's upset?
Speaker 3 (01:19:35):
Great?
Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
Hey, by the way, hey Gritty, if gritty's listening right now, Yeah,
this is kind of my life and a dudget. If
you guys look at the X handle, this sometimes can
be it. Hey, honestly, sometimes it can't be helped because
there are a lot of idiots out there a true story,
(01:20:02):
and that's not not I'm not referencing the call. I'm
referencing what's in front of me right here. JMV loves
this back and forth with morons while getting paid to
do the show. I'm not even going back and forth
here at this point, but I don't care. It is
(01:20:27):
pretty funny. Thank you, grit, but no grit it is.
It is a way of life here, gritty. We've long
been used to it. Oh oh, somebody just gave me
an idea because we had Brennan call yesterday. Wine shripa.
(01:20:50):
Are you ready? Three one seven, two seventy? How about
a dispensary gifts your shit to the Has anybody ever
get having away a bar restock and a dispensary gift
certificate in the same prize?
Speaker 6 (01:21:04):
Probably not, least not in this state. I'd say I'd
get in trouble for that, depending on the type of
dispensary and uh, where it was located and if it
was federally Okay, James knows this to be true. If
somebody around here is getting talked to about something, usually
it's me. That's been a long standing tradition like I
(01:21:30):
would like to think on the surface that would work,
but it may not. On the other hand, I hope
people don't think you're giving out one right now because
the phone lines just blew up, so dispensary gift certificate cool,
think you're actually giving one out right now?
Speaker 4 (01:21:49):
I hate your calls on the other side. Joey Ericsson
with the latest that Mike Hilton news. Now we'll get
back to the coming up with a workout again that's
commonplace this time of year especially, and walking you through
what is going to be a fantastic weekend for all
of us together. I promise you that the stream of
the app HD Radio. Are you a Triple A member yet?

Well, it is the magic word, mister Facklin.

Speaker 4 (01:23:10):
I think I wore a pair of Well, the first
noted basketball shoe was the ones that were from the
Converse posters.
Speaker 3 (01:23:22):
Back then.
Speaker 4 (01:23:24):
The Converse shoes and I'm not talking about the Chuck Taylors,
but the Converse. The leather shoes back then Doctor J's
shoes for example, but then the IU shoes IU top tens.
They wore Adidas. So we all wore Adidas top tens.
And I mean, hell right now, I can even show

that's exactly what I'm rocking triple A membership Allonge via

very stylish today. JMB. I know you like to get
on stichen, but it's hard to get the smell of
(01:24:11):
a rose from a piece of cramp. Okay, listen, in
terms of the coach or the player personnel guy or
the president, the general, whatever this all is on their resume,
they know what they're getting into. People ask all the time, well,
(01:24:34):
what should they have done at number four overall in
twenty twenty two? Well? Anything but what they did now,
Anything that gives you the opportunity at results that are positive. Anything,
it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter. Well, you look back
on it, and you know, hindsight's twenty twenty. You can't
(01:24:57):
come away with nothing. And that's what happened.
Speaker 6 (01:25:03):
Man schaden Steiken kind of did the uh the Frank
Reich speed run in terms of getting everybody thinking he
was some sort of offensive genius, and then suddenly everybody
thinks he doesn't know a good offense if it was
staring him in the face.
Speaker 4 (01:25:15):
Well, and people are tired of this type of product.
I don't blame him, And even going into year three,
he gets swept up in that and then people are
tired of this type of product and the dialogue they
get from him. Everybody's fed up.
Speaker 6 (01:25:32):
I don't blame him.
Speaker 4 (01:25:33):
And if you have to go through, if this ends
up being another season like it has been, for example,
as it was a year ago, is going to make
it even worse. That's why I said after last year,
knowing what we know right now and again before the
start of the season, I'm just curious. And I could
put this to you guys at three one, seven, two nine, ten, seventy, Well,
(01:25:55):
you can go to X or wherever. But knowing what
you know right now, I know they're still excitement about
starting the season, but if this was the way it
was all going to work out, would you have rather
them rebooted the product with new people, Because that was
(01:26:16):
my thought at the end of the year. Not a
lot of people agreed with it. Again, it can all change.
And Bobby makes a good point regarding Daniel Jones, and
I'll get to that good point coming up on the
other side. But knowing what you know right now, and
I'm just going from the pulse or the apathy or
(01:26:39):
lack of excitement and starting the season that you have
seen so far, knowing what you know right now, would
you have rather been on the road to a recovery
than doing the same old thing again? And answer to
that again three one, seven, two, three nine ten mentioned
(01:27:00):
Bobby had an interesting comment about Daniel Jones. We'll get

names that are being bounced around, Joel A. Erickson of
The Star joins us, We'll start with the latest, and
that is the Colts finally saying all right, you're talented,
but you can't stay healthy, and a local product Juju
Brentz ends up getting cut loose this afternoon.
Speaker 5 (01:28:49):
Yeah, Ultimately, that's my understanding is that that was the
decision that they made, was that they didn't want to
deal with.
Speaker 3 (01:28:57):
The injuries anymore.
Speaker 5 (01:28:59):
He's obviously, he's obviously had a lot, He's he's played
eleven games in two years. He's had just a continuing
onslought of injuries. The position, I think, I think there's
also something to be said here for maybe the kind
of cornerback that that lou and Arumo is looking for,
because you know, he's brought in Xavian Howard, they traded
(01:29:20):
for McKay Blackman last night, and then you know, the
other piece of news that that I just I just
got along with others, was that they're they're gonna work
out Mike Hilton here on Wednesday. It seems like he
wants veterans who are used to playing in a scheme
like his that's going to change stuff around and uh
and and do different things game to game. I also
(01:29:43):
think he's they seem like a shorter corner, maybe not
a longer, you know, slower corner like Brent's. Is just
given Wally's profile, Black Men's profile, some of these guys
are bringing in. So part of it, I think is
just that they got a new defensive coordinator and he
needs different things to the cornerback position.
Speaker 4 (01:30:00):
I asked this a little bit earlier too, and you know,
an hour difference may change the dynamic. But I'd ask,
if you know, going out and you know, bringing in
Howard and trading for black Men and you know, working
out Hilton and now making the decision on Brin's, was
it more about just having bodies in the secondary or
(01:30:20):
more about the ultimate voice of lou Anarumo being heard
by this Colts team and what he wants. And I
think it's the latter, is it not?
Speaker 5 (01:30:27):
In this case, yeah, I think so, because Brince, I
mean Brince was healthy enough to play in the final
preseason game.
Speaker 3 (01:30:35):
Jalen Jones, he was.
Speaker 5 (01:30:37):
He didn't play in the last preseason game, but he
was healthy enough to play, you know, in the UH
he was healthy enough to play in the first couple
of drives in the sorry, in the in the in
the in practices last week. So he seems like he's
on his way back as well. It does seem like
Louis Rumo wants something different from his corners, and the
(01:30:58):
other thing is he wants.
Speaker 4 (01:30:59):
To play a lot of them.
Speaker 5 (01:31:01):
I think they're gonna play a ton of dying coverage
and to do that you need a lot of cover guys.
And I think that's the other thing is that if you're
gonna play Dyme, that means you have two slot corners,
so you can't just depend on Kenny Moore. And in
black Man, they got another guy who can play on
the inside. And if they end up signing Mike Hilton,
that'd be another guy who can.
Speaker 4 (01:31:21):
Play on the inside, do you know, And he may
not because obviously you were covering the Colts. But did
lou Wa Narumo have a voice as it seems he
has now as to what he wants in his personnel
and Cincinnati, especially in the latter years, as he clearly
does in your number one here.
Speaker 5 (01:31:41):
I think that, just based on what we've seen from
the Colts, I think that Cincinnati was less likely to
heed maybe his what he wanted, just because it seems
like he wants experienced cornerbacks. He wants experienced cornerbacks, people
who've been in a lot of situations. They gave him
a very young secondary the last couple of years in
Cincinnati and let some players move on. It seems to
(01:32:03):
me so far that that the Colts are a little
more all in on what Ana Rumo wants than maybe
he got with the Bengals the last two seasons.
Speaker 4 (01:32:12):
Yeah, it's it's interesting because the way they paint it,
and I talked to a specific guy over there often
is that maybe he didn't get the type of personnel
he wanted and that led to the decline. But it
seems like from free agency to moving on up to
the start of the season, he's getting a lot and
being able to mold this the way he absolutely wants it.
Speaker 3 (01:32:35):
Here.
Speaker 5 (01:32:36):
Yeah, we've never seen Chris Ballard attack the cornerback position
like this, they keep adding players and then when another
player gets hurt, they add more players. And now they've
they've moved on from Brent's. We've never seen him really.
We've seen him make the opportunistic signing before, where you
get you know, a Xavier Roads on the Chief, where
(01:32:57):
you get a discount adverse Stefan Gilmore, Who's Who's Those
guys ended up being more valuable than what they paid
for them. But we haven't seen him just kind of
go after this position.
Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
You know.
Speaker 5 (01:33:08):
They they anted up to beat out the Saints and
get our various award and since then they just keep
keep acquiring cornerbacks.
Speaker 4 (01:33:18):
Joey Erickson at the Star. It's cut down time for
the Colts and some names of interest that are bouncing
around and again if you're just joining us. Juju Brintz
was waived by the Colts and Mike Hilton, the veteran
defensive back's going to be worked out tomorrow. Mackay Blackman
is who they traded for last night, as was reported
by Joel, and just a whole change the dynamic going
(01:33:39):
on in that particular secondary, if not the entirety of
the team. Joel July, Woods waived, and I thought that
when he was at third round selection coming out as
a rookie, that this guy was going to do some
really nice things. I like thought about him in terms
of a combination at that moment of maybe a Duwayne
out and at kolbe fleeiner and the guy could never
(01:34:03):
stay healthy enough to justify any of those comparisons. Is
there were a spot in the NFL world for him?
Do you think moving forward someplace else?
Speaker 5 (01:34:14):
Yeah, I think he's going to get a chance, because
someone's going to take a chance on that athleticism.
Speaker 3 (01:34:17):
He did have seven.
Speaker 5 (01:34:19):
Catches in the preseason, which I know for most fans
that's what they see is a preseason, So it looked
like Woods was more productive than say a Will Mallory.
But if you were out at training camp every day,
you know, Mallory made far more catches in training camp
this season. I think Woods is going to get his chance.
(01:34:40):
You know, I thought the same thing, especially you know,
he had some hiccups as a rookie, but he still
had twenty five catches for more than three hundred yards
and three touchdowns. And there were a couple of times
that you're watching him and you go, you know what,
this guy could work down the line, It just never
panned out because the injuries that might be that might
be another piece of this, this deadline that maybe the
(01:35:03):
overarching narrative right now is just this. This team is
no longer counting on players or keeping players who who
cannot stay healthy and who are not for whatever reason,
they're not able to stay healthy because Brent Woods, they
placed Jalen Carlys on on IR with a designation to return.
(01:35:24):
He's early in his career, but that's how it's gone
for him so far. It does feel to me like
they're they're they're kind of trying to make a shift
there away from those players.
Speaker 4 (01:35:36):
Joel, one of these days, in the not so distant future,
I foresee you writing an article on the draft class
of twenty twenty three. Have you cobbled any of that
together so far? I know, I know that it probably
doesn't matter to the cult. They want to win and
that they prioritize that this season, but that's not too
long ago, and it does not look good.
Speaker 5 (01:36:00):
I I was just looking at that, you know, the
Brent's news broke right before. Yeah, I got on the phone,
but I was just looking at that and if if
you look at that, the best player out of that
class is Jalen Jones, and it's it's really not close.
Speaker 4 (01:36:15):
Josh Downs, Josh Downs, right too, Josh Joshdowns, Zaylan Jones.
And well, and I want I want to mention too.
I throw this out to Joel on the fly here,
my apologies because all this is like evolving as you're
coming on and talk with me right now. But it
just occurred to me to look this up and uh
it it slaps in the face because it wasn't that long. Yo.
Speaker 5 (01:36:38):
Well, I mean, yeah, the as far as it coming
coming through quickly, like that's how I missed Josh.
Speaker 1 (01:36:43):
Downs exactly exactly.
Speaker 5 (01:36:46):
But yeah, Downs and Jones. And then you know, there
were a ton of picks in that draft, a ton
of injuries in here too. You look at this, you
look at this thing. Anthony Richardson dealt with it and
dealt with injuries. Brent's injuries, yeah, uh, Blake Freeland injured
this year, Daniel Scott injured his first two years. Will
Mallory's had some stuff. Evan Hall looked good until he
suffered a pretty bad knee injury as a rookie Jake
(01:37:08):
Whitt retired, Jake Quit retired because of a hip injury.
It's it's it's it's a class that that does not
continues to look worse the more that they the more
that they keep going, and end up having to make
some of these decisions.
Speaker 4 (01:37:25):
Oh my goodness. Yeah, you stare at that for a minute.
That's not one you're gonna put on the resume right there.
And again, I know that that's not their focus right now,
is to get this season going and win this season.
But man, that is ugly as it gets right there,
looking at it with basically two guys, I guess as
(01:37:46):
of right now that you can really say anything whatsoever
about so not good, not good at all.
Speaker 5 (01:37:53):
No, No, you want your draft classes to do, to
do more than that. And and you know, really, Josh Downs,
it seems like it's gonna have to carry that. It's
it's it's I'm interested to see what happens with Dylan
Jones this year. With all of these veteran cornerbacks possibly
being brought.
Speaker 4 (01:38:09):
In, anybody else floating around out there, you think maybe
the Colts would have interest in, especially if there's somebody
with name recognition. And I know this is all happening
all at once, and you know, the Hilton news just
popped as well. But is there anybody else out there
that you think they may pequk an interest.
Speaker 5 (01:38:26):
Uh, positionally more than than than an individual player, because
it's hard, it's it is hard to keep track of
what other teams are doing when you're when you're focused
on the Colts and there's you know, literally hundreds of
names going by.
Speaker 4 (01:38:40):
You know, uh position, that's that's tackle for sure.
Speaker 5 (01:38:47):
You know they've got Luke Tnuda there, but I don't
know that that he was going to be in that spot.
He wasn't playing over Freeland before Freeland, uh, you know,
fractured his leg. So I think I think an offensive tackle.
You can see though no one has offensive tackles, which
makes that even more interesting because you know you've got
to get one. There have been like six or seven
(01:39:07):
of those guys traded in the last couple of days,
you know, backup swing tackle types, guys who maybe weren't
going to make the roster have gotten traded instead of
being instead of being released and picked up on waivers.
So that's that's one interesting thing. Looks like the Colt
roster has just come out. And then the other place
I think is linebacker, and I think we've all known
(01:39:28):
that all all off season as they kind of wanted
some players and didn't get it. Some names here for
you as this roster comes out that are released that
will be interesting to people. Khalil Herbert at running back released,
Lakwan Treadwell the wide receiver. I think we all kind
of knew that, but that's that's one of the veterans
that's released. Looking through here, there, Listen's Bentley the fourth
(01:39:54):
also released, So that's another that's a that's a running
back position that looks like it's going to go with
three for now.
Speaker 3 (01:40:02):
Josh Silves.
Speaker 4 (01:40:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:40:03):
So there's still Wave Waved injured for Matis Trahiel, which
is interesting because I thought he wasn't kicking very much
on on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (01:40:13):
He wasn't gonna make the roster. But that's interesting that
he's injured. Yeah. So that's that's the full list.
Speaker 5 (01:40:19):
Brand's being the biggest news, but there's there's some other
ones in there. Khalil Herbert just I think flat out
got beat out by Tyler Goodson.
Speaker 4 (01:40:26):
Yeah. Yeah, and and you kind of wonder maybe not
so much for him, but you kind of wonder, you know,
about some of these other guys that they end up
on on the practice squad. But you made a good point,
Joel about the offensive line. It's clear to me you
gotta kind of visit some situations here going back because
I don't know about you, but with this team, I mean,
(01:40:48):
it's hard to rely on a relative level of health.
And you don't question a lot of of the starters.
There's still a little bit but not a great deal.
But certainly that depth is something you would think that
they would need to fortify before the start of the season.
Speaker 3 (01:41:05):
Well, it's also.
Speaker 5 (01:41:06):
Something that Chris ballor intends to keep more of than
we think.
Speaker 3 (01:41:09):
Every year.
Speaker 5 (01:41:10):
Every time I can do a roster projection, I think
to myself, I've got to put at least nine on here,
because he's going to keep these guys, and then he
ends up, you know, keeping ten sometimes. So there's there's
some guys like that, there's some some things like that
where you're going, he definitely is gonna want more. Now
they might like Luketanuda. I just am kind of going
(01:41:30):
off the fact that I thought Blake Freeland maybe wasn't
having the best camp and they were playing Tonuda behind
him that they might go out and look for one.
They like Jayleen Travis. I know they like Jaalen Travis.
They played Dalton Tucker at center because they like to
have a third person who can snap the.
Speaker 3 (01:41:46):
Ball on the roster.
Speaker 5 (01:41:48):
But yeah, I could only find eight guys, and so
I think when I did my roster projection, I put
tackle to be named later on it because I wasn't
sure you know who that player would be.
Speaker 4 (01:41:59):
It's a extent of the Star doing a fine job
of giving us the news as this news is evolving
coming in right now and the Andy Moore Automotive Group potline.
I asked this question a little bit earlier, and I'm
going to ask you the same thing. I happen to
think Leatu Latu is the most important defensive player for
(01:42:19):
the Colts this season because of the reasons we just
talked about and what they're doing in the secondary and
what they have in the secondary. I think to really
get the most out of this defense, he is going
to have to be a consistent factor coming off the edge.
But if I'm asking you, who do you think is
going to be the single most important player defensively for
(01:42:40):
the Colts this season.
Speaker 5 (01:42:45):
Yeah, I think it's a lot too.
Speaker 3 (01:42:47):
I think you're right.
Speaker 4 (01:42:48):
Did I talk to you into it or did you
feel competed.
Speaker 5 (01:42:51):
I just think I've kind of always been I've always
been a going back for a long time. That's saying
that the thing that this team really needed was sort
of the the difference making war Daddy edge rusher, uh,
because you know, it makes Buttner better if you had
if he's not the only force player in there, and
(01:43:12):
really it makes the cornerbacks and everything better.
Speaker 4 (01:43:14):
Now.
Speaker 5 (01:43:14):
I think cam bining them you could make a case for,
because I don't necessarily like what they have at free
safety beyond him, But I still think the thing that
could give this team a ceiling as a defense is
having an edge rusher who really makes a difference and
and forces quarterbacks to get off their spot. You know,
Quity pay Samson, Ebcom, those guys, they do a good
(01:43:36):
job picking up sacks, or at least they have so far.
Ebicom coming off the torn achilles in training camp of
kind of the second efforts sack. To get the second
efforts sack, you need somebody driving the quarterback out of
the out of the pocket. And I think that's what
That's what they need lots to do this year.
Speaker 4 (01:43:53):
Yeah, I just I think that if this defense is
at its best, and it's not just here or there,
it's it's a consistent basis and hopefully hopefully you get
that because it's been since Robert Mathis than that consistency
certainly has been there. And you know, to me that
that is as impactful we talked about the quarterback position
(01:44:15):
and the way that it has been since Luck or
the way it was since Manning, but maybe even more
impactful is just the lack of a consistent threat of
the pass rush since Robert Mathis around here. That's that's
an amazing fact that sometimes Joe I think gets covered
up because there have been so many quarterback issues here.
Speaker 5 (01:44:34):
Yeah, you know, and they've done it. They've done a
better job, I think, or at least for a little
while there, they did a better job at finding, you know,
something like a reasonable substitute. You know, justin Houston had
a couple of good years there. They got some stuff
out of Autrey they had.
Speaker 3 (01:44:51):
They did a good job.
Speaker 5 (01:44:53):
They didn't get like exactly the type of rush Arou
I'm talking about, but they had guys to get Ebiccom's
first season here one, they've done a better job of
finding guys who can close the gap between not having
that guy and not having it at all. And they
have a quarterback, so I think that's the other reason
that it hasn't been quite as noticeable, but it's it's
absolutely true. You want to have the difference making franchise
(01:45:16):
guy that's always there.
Speaker 4 (01:45:18):
Did Isaiah Land did that surprise you? Did Wesley French
surprise you earlier of the day, as you reported as.
Speaker 5 (01:45:25):
Well, Wesley French had Wesley French with a guy who'd
played kind of on the on the third line all
all through training camp. And I think when Dalton Tucker
was taking snaps on on Saturday, that was a clear
sign there that maybe he didn't come back from the
injury the same way. And then with Isaiah Land, Isaiah Land,
(01:45:46):
I think maybe doesn't fit this defense the same way
that he fit the last one. It seems to me
that that Anna Rumo value size and power at most
of the defensive line spots other than the one Lossy plays,
And if you're going to be a smaller player, you
have to be they have to consider you to be
a player who's really really going to make a.
Speaker 3 (01:46:06):
Difference as a pass rusher.
Speaker 5 (01:46:08):
Even Trey Hendrickson, who he had in Cincinnati, is not
a you know, slight of build, speed type guy he is.
Speaker 3 (01:46:16):
He's a lot bigger guy.
Speaker 5 (01:46:17):
I covered him when he got drafted in New Orleans.
He's two hundred and sixty pounds type player. I think
that's more of Anna Rumo's I think that's more of
Van Rumo's speed.
Speaker 4 (01:46:27):
Joe A. Erickson of the Stars on the Andy Moro
on amount of group plotline, We'll let you go coming
up here in just a second. I know you have
a lot of work to be done. There's no doubt
about that. I kind of look at again this team
and another valued starts of the season and your thoughts
on this Miami team, especially coming in where you get
(01:46:48):
a secondary that has banged up and they've also dealt
with the guys no longer there. It would seem like
if there was an ideal moment for Daniel Jones to
get that shot and to be a difference maker that
they hope for him to be, that that's a decent matchup,
and I know we're still a little far away from that,
but the level of importance, plus the fact you have
(01:47:11):
Daniel Jones getting that shot to take advantage. Is that
a decent combination for this Colts team in Week one?
Speaker 5 (01:47:19):
I I think it's it's good from an offensive standpoint,
We're gonna kind of see the defense though right away.
You know, I think that you know, they they've they've
taken some hits there. Mike McDaniel's taken some hits to
his reputation, but that's that's still a guy to me
that is uh that that can take advantage of you.
And he's got speed on the outside. You know, he's
(01:47:41):
got a ton of speed on the outside to deal with.
So it's in one way, I do think it's a
it's an easier matchup for the offense. Defensively, I think
there's there's maybe more of a a way where you're
you're gonna be tested. I also just noticing we're talking,
we've been talking about all the cornerbacks. They kept Jonathan Edwards,
(01:48:02):
they did the undrafted free agent from Tulane, who I
know that I know the assistant coaches really like him.
I don't think he's gonna play all that much right
away with all these veterans being around, but they kept
him initially, So that's interesting.
Speaker 4 (01:48:15):
All right. In closing here, and I know you had
to answer probably a lot of social media questions about this,
but what are your thoughts other than a third string
rookie quarterback in Riley Leonard? Is there anything else there,
any vision that they have whatsoever? Or is it just
as I described it?
Speaker 5 (01:48:37):
Uh, he's you know, he's he's a lot like he's
a lot like Sam Ellinger. I think he's he's a
developmental player and and I think he can probably like
you probably look at him as somebody who can develop
into a really good backup in this league, somebody who
can count on that type of player. I think some
of the preseason stuff, again, you see the preseason games,
(01:48:59):
you get one impression. I think if you saw him
on a day in day out basis, you see where
you know, some of the accuracy, some of the the
arm strength over the middle is something that's not really
there in terms of being that there's a reason that
he played only the third team snaff But there's also
a reason that that battle for the number three job
(01:49:19):
wasn't really a battle, and he got all of them
almost immediately. They started out with him and Jason Bean,
you know, splitting reps, and then it went to him.
He's a guy. He reminds me a lot of Ellinger.
He reminds me a lot of Ellinger, and that he's
gonna work really hard. He's gonna know the offense, He's
probably got some arm development to do over the next
(01:49:40):
couple of years.
Speaker 3 (01:49:41):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:49:41):
The one thing that he has and I always think,
can I know it's accommodation Fair Hope, Alabama, And you
know his previous relationship with with Philip Rivers. That's who
he kind of reminds me of, not as a player,
but just his his personality because he does bring a
lot level of control as a rookie that I think
(01:50:04):
is in particular fairly uncommon in the NFL at that position.
He does bring that. Yeah, he's got that.
Speaker 5 (01:50:12):
It's just you're just like if you, like I said,
if you watch them in practice, there's just a few
too many throws that.
Speaker 3 (01:50:18):
End up hitting the ground.
Speaker 5 (01:50:20):
Yeah, And and like I said, the arm strength thing
is also a little bit of an issue. He's he's
a lot like Sam Ellinger. There's there's no way around it.
Speaker 4 (01:50:30):
Joel A. Ericson of the Star kind enough to join
us at a very busy time as the Colts make cuts,
and we'll see what other adjustments they may have to
the roster before it's said and done. Joe, not even
any Brewers conversation here, man, my bad. Nope, so so
much going on with the Colt. We got a lot
of focus. We'll do it again leading up to a
week number one. Man, it's good to have you on.
(01:50:51):
Thanks brother. Okay, we'll see Joel a ericson of the
stars on the Andy Moore Automotive Group highlight. Yeah, Khalil
Herbert really East, the Kwan treadwell I waived as I mentioned,
Wesley French, Marcellus Johnson, Isaiah Land, Jason Bean, Davonte Davis,
(01:51:16):
and clearly, besides that of Jilani, the big news of
the day is easily Juju Brandts. But you can certainly
understand it. Yeah, considering wanting healthy bodies and somebody that
(01:51:39):
you can count on and the local product Juju Brentz,
their second rounder in twenty twenty three has been waived.
You look at that twenty twenty three draft. All right,
(01:52:02):
I don't know how much worse that can get. We
will need to do an evaluation of others. Let's just
twenty twenty three other drafts, if anybody else had a
draft as bad as that, But that is looking dreadful
and considering that was the spring of twenty twenty three
(01:52:22):
and this is the late summer of twenty twenty five,
and it injuries, ineffective, all of it. Incredible quick break.
We shall return. I've got calls the rest of the way.
If you guys want to respond to what we're talking about,
(01:52:44):
we absolutely can. Three one, seven, two, three, nine, ten seventy.
That is the text line if you want to go there.
We've got some stuff to get to. I'll get to
that and some of your comments regarding and Juju Brandt's
twenty twenty three uh directionally speaking with the Colts. Will
do that coming up on the other side, the storm
(01:53:05):
and the fever coming up later on to night six
forty five for Eddie Garrison. I'm assuming right seven P
is that Tipton later on tonight ride here on the
fan as well the stream the app as AHD Radio
on the road, not once, not twice, but three times
Thursday through Saturday. We shall revisit your calls, comments and
more coming up on this Tuesday ninety three to five,
(01:53:27):
one seven five Fan.
Speaker 1 (01:53:31):
The ride with JMV.
Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
What the wide wide world as fortunes are going on.
Speaker 1 (01:53:37):
Here ninety three five and one oh seven five the fan.
Speaker 4 (01:53:42):
We have a Fantasy League spot to give away coming
up in a bit, James, remind me and we'll do
it here before the end of the show Casey writes this, JMV.
As I recall the twenty thirteen draft for the Colts
was similarly dreadful. I think the thing there was you
(01:54:04):
didn't have a top five pick, right. That was the
Beyond Werner draft with Hugh Thornton, Collin Holmes, Oh, John Boyett.
John Boyett was the duty he got arrested down to
have a nice day, Cafe, Kirwin Williams, Justice Cunningham. Yeah,
(01:54:30):
you didn't draft a quarterback that is a backup quarterback
in week one of year three. Yeah, you look back
on that. Beyond Werner helped get the NFL looked at
(01:54:50):
in Germany, I guess right, and doing that right now
and the analyst over there. But yeah, twenty twenty three
is not one that you will want to look back
and admire. Ryan from Connonville check Sin on the text
(01:55:12):
line three one seven, two, three, nine, ten seventy JMV
trade AR, get what you can this better by Ballard's
last shot one Jones to Leonard three being all three
look better than AR. This team has an extremely loyal
fan base but hasn't been relevant in over a decade.
Ridiculous time to blow it up. Hand the ball to
(01:55:33):
JT and see what happens and Ryan and Connersville. I
would be absolutely floored if they trade Anthony Richardson.
Speaker 1 (01:55:45):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:55:46):
We'll see whether or not his agent ends up wanting
traded and if they feel they need to move on
given that situation. But I still think that there's an
incredibly delicate balance and really a level of non belief
all the way around here to where they don't feel
(01:56:09):
like that that is something they need to do right now,
and that I can buy. I don't buy the situation
in terms of results in winning, but I do buy
why you don't necessarily have to go out and do
that right now, or you don't feel as necessary. We'll
see what happens, dan V. At the end of last year,
(01:56:35):
I would have shopped they are around to see what
I could get out of and maybe something in the
draft or trade for another quarterback. Valads should have been
fired and this year turned into a reclamation project, then
so be it. I would like to think that most
probably would view that as more of an alternative than
what you're looking at right now. However, I will say this,
(01:56:58):
I hold this to Bobby before Joel came on a
moment ago. By the way, Joel a ericson with the
podcast at one O seven five the fan dot Com
Big news of the day, Juju Brince has been waived.
Juju Brentz waived. Mike Kilton is a guy that they're
going to bring in tomorrow and give a workout to
in that secondary. But I think it was Bobby that
(01:57:23):
sent us a little bit earlier. Let me make sure
I can get it because there's a lot of I
don't know, if you've noticed my ex Handel James with
mont it is, I would say it's chalked full of
dumb assery. But there's only like three. But they're huge
and relatively motivated dumbasses and they're keeping me in it,
(01:57:47):
which I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:57:47):
Why are these people you're replying to?
Speaker 4 (01:57:51):
I did one because yeah, and then he said he
said he was tell him when I'm out and he's
gonna come find me and we're gonna fight or something. Listen,
I tell you where I am. Like every moment of
his show, I'm out more than I'm in. So if
you feel motivated at that capacity, then do it. Pretty funny. Ah,
(01:58:15):
here's Bobby's way way down the list. They had the
scroll forever bringing up Daniel Jones' career win loss record,
which is twenty games under five hundred. It makes sense,
but it's rough. The Giants for dogwater while the Colts
were a legit solid team without a quarterback, and since
that's been true, only Daniel Jones has taken his team
(01:58:37):
to the postseason and won a playoff game. That is
I think what everybody is embracing right now. And I
don't blame you. The embracement is, Hey, when Daniel Jones
for six seasons when he was in New York, you
look at that team and you look how bad most
(01:58:57):
of the time that it was. And that's the reason
why he's twenty games under five hundred. That's the reason
why he's been viewed as one of the worst quarterbacks
of the NFL. And somebody had brought up Reclamation project
a moment ago. That is absolutely the definition of it,
and that is the hope that a different spot, different personnel.
(01:59:18):
And I will say, I'm not going to hold my
breath on how good this group is going to be.
But when you have Jonathan Taylor and I, unlike years
of the past, like the Wide Receiving group, you have certainly,
even as a rookie, a great deal of hope in
(01:59:40):
Tyler Warren. Now I'm just talking about the offense. I'm
not getting into the defense, in which clearly, as I
mentioned to Joel a Ericson, lou Anromo has a great
deal of say in what he ultimately wants in that group,
considering what he's doing with this transformation, which is great.
(02:00:05):
But Bobby I would agree with that level of hope.
And that's what a lot of people are going on
right now. Jami, this is corbyin the twenty twenty three
draft sucked as a whole. Yes, that are Corbyn right there?
You think, or just the Corbyn in general. Corbyn Corbyn
(02:00:28):
may more than one.
Speaker 6 (02:00:29):
There may be more than one person.
Speaker 4 (02:00:30):
I think there's more than one Corbyn. I would wait,
jam V Madison here from Westfield, what's the floor this
year for Ballor to keep his job, division win, postseason,
I would say postseason, I would say some excitement slash postseason.
(02:00:53):
I don't think it's as high as everybody else believes
it to be, which will see the level on which
they give you. But a lot of people have suggested, yeah,
division title and listen, I'm not trying to undersell the expectations.
I know what you guys deserve. I say it all
(02:01:14):
the time, but I don't think that it's as high
as you know, division title, which you know, maybe just
what you have to do to get in the playoff
picture in general. So I guess you can just say
you win the division, you get a playoff, then that
would definitely keep him around. I think everybody stays with
(02:01:35):
the dynamic like that, but anything that we have seen recently,
then everybody's going to be gone, which begs the question
is this season going to be worth it? Even with
that relative level of hope that you have that things
can and will turn around with Daniel Jones because there
(02:01:56):
is that hope out there. Thank you Jim mccannon Southern
California for that. JMV are the Fantasy league spots filled?
We will we'll see here in a second. Right, I
guess did you say JMV cataclysmic? I think I did
(02:02:20):
look that up? Did I use that word accurately?
Speaker 6 (02:02:23):
You did say cataclysmic?
Speaker 4 (02:02:24):
I did?
Speaker 6 (02:02:25):
I think it stumbled through it a couple but sometimes.
Speaker 4 (02:02:28):
Green County just comes out. I can't help what I did.
I use it right?
Speaker 6 (02:02:33):
I think you did. I mean it's something that is.
Speaker 4 (02:02:35):
I didn't say catalytic, though, which would be completely different.
Speaker 6 (02:02:39):
I think you saidsmic at one point, So.
Speaker 4 (02:02:46):
If I would have said catalytic, that's completely wrong. Cataclysmic.
I do have hope because I want to add that
that new word to my repertoire here.
Speaker 6 (02:02:59):
Well, the definition of cataclysmic is relating to or denotating
a violent natural event.
Speaker 4 (02:03:06):
Oh yes, please, do you guys mind if I add
that to my vocabulary.
Speaker 6 (02:03:13):
You just learned a new word to.
Speaker 4 (02:03:15):
My limited vocabulary. It's from Jason Ellis what was Matt
Stafford's record with the Lions? And now if you're hoping
for transformation from Detroit to what he ended up being
when he first got to LA I get it, But
(02:03:35):
I would I think Stafford to me is a lot
better than Jones. If that's what you're getting at, if not,
if you just want to know the record in general.
But I would view Matthew Stafford at that point Jason
in his career much better than I would view Daniel Jones.
(02:03:58):
If again, that's the way that you thinking about it.
Cataclysmic JMVA Alex from Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of CG shout
out to you, Alex. If we have to look ahead
(02:04:18):
for the next three to five years or next three
to five years draft classes, what quarterback should we keep
on the radar potential AR five replacement?
Speaker 3 (02:04:28):
Man.
Speaker 4 (02:04:29):
We had an outstanding conversation about that very thing yesterday,
that podcast up right now too. I think we actually
have a promo. Yeah, very then you know what, it
just kind of happened. But there there is more than
(02:04:53):
just having an arch Manning conversation. And I don't even
think you should have that, not because I think the
Colts you know, aren't going to stink. Maybe they do stink,
But the bigger question is whether or not arch Manning
comes out. First of all, you've got to be worthy
of that and come out. But then secondly you have
to want to come out because ideally for him, the
(02:05:15):
financial version of his college model is not bad, not
bad at all, right now, So I think that's probably
the bigger point to make than really anything else.
Speaker 3 (02:05:27):
Right.
Speaker 6 (02:05:27):
Ryan was pretty high on a Mendoza over there, and I.
Speaker 4 (02:05:31):
You, yeah, I think you mentioned who? Do you mentioned Mendoza?
Just off the top of my head. He probably went
five or six quarterbacks deep right there.
Speaker 6 (02:05:41):
He had a lot of them.
Speaker 4 (02:05:42):
Impressive. Yeah. March seven, twenty twelve, Verseay cuts the league's
only five time MVP. I was there, David, a week
after my season ticket money was due a dark cloud
of lower quartile moves, drafts and performance of Karma sucks man, David,
(02:06:04):
I go back to that being it right there. I
go back to what I felt at that moment was
one of the worst takes of all time, and now
years later, it doesn't seem to be that bad of
a take. You remember my take James was a baby.
But my take back then was keep Manning and draft
(02:06:27):
luck and then luck can take over if Manning can't
or won't be able to go or is a short timer.
And I admit there have been moments when I thought
that was the worst thing of all time, and I
look back on it. I mean hell, anything would seemingly
have been better than the outcome. Right, even with those
(02:06:48):
three seasons where you got really excited, or even the
fourth season when they went back to the postseason with him,
that take doesn't look as bad as it once did.
Corey writes this, I think it's hard to think that
Arch is going to patiently wait two years for his
chance to take over QB one at Texas and then
(02:07:08):
suddenly be a rush to get to the NFL. I
just don't see it. He'll be in the draft class
of twenty twenty seven. I agree with Corey on this.
I think a lot of our conversation about Arch manning
and tanking for Manning, whatever that is. Yeah, I don't
think that time is going to be next year. A
right two three nine, ten seventy. This is a phone.
(02:07:33):
We've got to have somebody that wants to participate in
our fantasy football league. James, Let's not go a number nine.
Let's go at number eighteen, number eight nine, more number
eighteen at three nine, ten seventy, number eighteen. If you
want to be a willing participant in our fantasy football league,
(02:07:53):
if you would like to win a bar restock, I
don't know about the dispensary thing. I don't even know
if I'm allowed to say that, but somebody brought it up.
That is not a part of the equation here. But
if you want to be a part of our fantasy
league with the winner, take all bar restalk from Brent
Holverson and heaven Hill Distillery number eighteen at two three, nine,
(02:08:16):
ten seventy. You are in. We'll double back and close
out this show coming up next.
Speaker 1 (02:08:22):

The Ride with JMV. Look up idiots in the dictionary.
Speaker 5 (02:08:30):
You know what you'll find, picture of me, No, the
definition of the word idiot, which you are.
