Welcome back to the Romy's Podcast, because I know
you're a regular listener.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Yes, you are.
If you haven't listened to ourlatest episode yet, go check it
out.
We talked about some amazingwellness destinations right here
in the US.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
That's interesting because you said to our latest
episode and that would be thisone, as they're listening Our
previous episode, right?
So if you haven't listened tothe latest episode, just keep
listening.
That's good, okay, anyway,welcome back.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
This is Rory, by the way, he's the funny one and I'm.
Alexa yeah, so if you'relooking for something a little
closer to home, listen to ourprevious episode.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Yes, well, it depends on where your home is.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
But yes, right, if you live in the US Right and
then.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Today we're going to take things global yes, global.
We know a lot of you guys arebased in Europe, a lot of our
listeners.
We travel to Europe a good bitand I have so many wonderful
friends there.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
So for some of you so thank you for listening.
We appreciate you and love you.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Yes, so for some of you, these places may be right
in your own backyard or garden,or what else would they?
Call it, they don't say yards, what else would they call it?
They don't say yards, it's agarden, right?
Yeah, terrace, maybe in yourown little garden there, which
we would call a yard.
But since we're based in the US, we're considering anything
outside of the states as abroad.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
So we're going to cover those in this episode.
So just as a reminder, justlike the previous episode, none
of the destinations we're goingto be sharing with you today are
sponsoring this episode.
We've never personally been toany of these locations, so we
can't vouch for them firsthand, but we put together this list as
a jumping point to help youstart your own research.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yeah, and like the last episode, we mentioned that
wellness travel can mean so manydifferent things to different
people, and it could be a sparetreat, hot springs or
adventure travel.
We mentioned those things.
It might rejuvenate your body, your mind.
So today we're going to breakdown, yeah, so we're going to

(02:33):
break down.
That broke down completely intothree sections and we're going
to start with Switzerland yes, since we are addicted to it.
Then Germany, mm-hmm Austria,europe.
Germany slash Austria, slashEurope, if you will.
And finally, other internationalspots beyond Europe.
There is a world beyond Europe.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
We don't go there as often, Not as often but we love
it still, yeah, we want to goyeah more.
So today we're going to becategorizing by location, as
opposed to type of wellnesstravel that you might find in
each of these places.
All right, right, all right.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
So let's talk.
Switzerland, yes, the pinnacleof wellness retreats.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Okay, all right.
So Switzerland is like sosynonymous with wellness.
If you heard two episodes back, face products or whatever and
skin products.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
It's like oh it's from Switzerland, or a new
medicine that came out, aholistic.
It was designed by doctors inSwitzerland and you're like, oh,
it must be really good, right, right.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
And if you listened to episodes back, you heard us
talking about all the wonderfulfresh food there, so you know we
just continue to be fans.
But anyway, there's somethingabout the crisp mountain air,
the pristine lakes, the worldclass hospitality that makes
this a prime spot.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
True enough If you think about it, like, even back
in the day, the famous writers, like Mary Shelley she wrote
Frankenstein, I think, while shewas in Switzerland, and so it's
yeah people have been goingthere for a long time for
rejuvenation and stuff.
They would go there and theywould write, yeah, and
inspiration, all that.
So Switzerland, first up, we'regoing to talk about Burgenstock

(04:19):
Resort.
We would say Burgenstock, but Ithink it's a new one,
burgenstock Resort.
Anyway, on Lake Lucerne, whichis gorgeous, it's got everything
, apparently Spas, infinitypools and incredible views of
the lake and mountains.
No matter where you are inLucerne, you've got incredible
views of the lake.
If you're in the dungeon or ina basement, you've got

(04:41):
incredible views of the lake andmountains.
This place is supposedly totalluxury.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
And so it doesn.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Right.
So total luxury means totally, really, really expensive,
because we're talking aboutSwitzerland.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
I would dare to you know.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
No, I'm not sure.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
That no matter where.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
You would venture to guess.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
I would venture to not ever be wrong that any of
these resorts are not going tobe in the inexpensive category,
because we're talking about thiscountry that we're talking
about.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yes, all right.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
And these activities.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
So what's another place?

Speaker 2 (05:19):
Okay, so then there's Chenot Palace Veggies.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Veggies, veggies, veggies.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
When we look at it as Americans, it looks like Weggis
W-E-G-G-I-S.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
I guess Veggies maybe .

Speaker 2 (05:31):
So this is also on Lake Lucerne and this one is
apparently more focused onmedical wellness, so it's going
to provide personal healthprograms designed to help you
detox, de-stress and boost yourlongevity.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Nice, and of course there's the grand resort Bad
Ragaz.
This place is built aroundthermal waters.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Which I didn't know there were any in Switzerland.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
There's everything there.
Are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (05:56):
See, even if you don't know, you know there is
True.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
It combines medical expertise with spa treatments
for the ultimate wellnessgetaway according to them.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Let's check into that when we go this summer.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Grand Resort sounds big anyway.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
All right, then we have Clinique La Prairie in
Montreux.
Montreux, we would say Montreuxthey have this big castle there
that you need to see whenyou're there.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Yeah, it's over a thousand years old.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Okay.
Well, this Clinique is famousfor its science-driven longevity
program, so if you're lookingfor an ultra luxury experience
that blends medicine andwellness, this could be for you.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Could be your place.
All right, let's move on tosection two.
Yeah, we're going to expand ourterritory.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Now just to next door countries.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Germany, that was Austria and Germany together.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Right, that was good.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Germany, austria and other European destinations.
So these guys, these countries, have some seriously incredible
wellness retreats.
I mean there's Alps andmountains and lakes and rivers.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
So just going there, your heart's going to be happy,
All right.
So in Germany you have VillaStefani at Brenner's Park in
Baden-Baden.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Baden-Baden been there.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
It's one of the most famous spa retreats in Europe,
apparently, so it combinestraditional spa treatments with
cutting edge medical care, so ifyou're into detoxing, you might
want to check out Lanserhof.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Lanserhof, dergensee, oh, which means it's on a lake.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
It's on a lake.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
Lanserhof, dergensee.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
I'm so glad he's here to bail me out.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Wow, no, I'm not.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
All right, well, it's going to.
It focuses on gut health andmetabolic balance.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Maybe I need to go to this place, see.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
Well, why not All right?

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Over in Austria, cool name.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Right.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Offering tailored relaxation and rejuvenation I
don't know programs.
That sounds like the place Iwant to go now.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Let's go to Atmosphere.
I want to check all of theseout.
Okay, then you have Bio Hotelwe would say bio we would say
bio, but like in a good way, like, even in like, when we buy
our food that's organic, theysay it's bio.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
B-I-O, but the total name of it is Bio Hotel
Stanglwirt.
I'm so glad you're here,stanglwirt.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
All right.
So here you have an eco luxuryhotel.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
So maybe we can do this one with a focus on
sustainability and wellness.
According, it's a stunning ecoluxury hotel, so yeah, yes, what
did I say?
You just said it's a luxuryhotel.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
I'm saying, apparently it's a stunning
eco-luxury hotel, yeah, okay.
Eco-friendly, eco-friendly,there you go.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Not economically affordable Now here's a place
we've never been.
But if you're looking for aplace in Spain, the SHA Wellness
Clinic in Alicante isworld-renowned for its
combination of medical andholistic treatments.
So they're world renowned.
They even have a secondlocation in Mexico, which is
closer to us, just saying.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
And I think they have maybe several locations around,
so maybe that's a chain worthchecking out.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
All right, so let's expand outside the Belgians of
Europa.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Speaking of Mexico.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Wellness retreats around the world.
Speaking of Mexico.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Wellness retreats around the world.
So a few highlights that wehave found in our research.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
And these are going to be really not easy to
pronounce Chivasom in Hua Hin,Thailand.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
We've never been to Thailand yet.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Nope, this place has been leading the way in wellness
retreats for years.
Apparently, it's got everythingfrom spa retreats to detox
programs and and fitnessretreats you're like mixing all
your words together and they'relike but they're flowing.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
You know, you've got I think I need to mow the lawn
and put my mind, just sort ofdetox, you know y'all, I'm just
gonna to rabbit chase here ourfirst name before we were the
romies, our like working title, with us as a duo was Rolexa.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
Rolexa.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
We were like combining the two names.
Oh right, that was like ourplaceholder name until we came
up with that we are the Romies.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Because it's Ro and me.
Yeah, my favorite is the namethat Jim gave you, oh yeah, our
wonderful friend Jim Mills.
Instead of some people call herJolexa, but he calls her
Perplexa, and I think Perplexais just so good.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
I think Glenn.
Glenn Kimberlin gave me that.
Did he call you that too?
Glenn Kimberlin came up withthat.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Oh, the first I ever heard say it was Jim.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Well, maybe Glenn and Jim know me well and then, but
you know, initially my firstname was Little Red Thunder
Bunny.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Yes, little Red Thunder, Bunny Boy, that's a
whole story in and of itself.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
All right Back to wellness retreats around the
world.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
And words we can't pronounce, and all of that.
There's Kama-lay-a, kama-lay-a.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Kama-lay-a Ko-sa-mui.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Also in Thailand?
How would you say that I don'tknow?
I haven't been to Thailand so Ihaven't practiced my Thai.
I just tried to say it realmanly Kamalaya Kusamui.
Oh, that's good Also in.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Thailand.
They have a stress managementretreat right Right and
emotional healing programs in abeautiful setting by the beach
when I think of.
Thailand.
I don't think of beach, butthey've got like a giant coast
they have all this stuff, socome on Over.
In India there's Ananda whichwe got to go to the Himalayas,
because Ananda's in theHimalayas.
And that's good salt, it'sfamous for its Ayurvedic

(11:22):
wellness programs.
They offer stress managementretreats, yoga and even hormone
balancing therapies I might sendyou there.
Okay, I just, I don't know, just off the top of my head,
it's a thought, it's a solo tripright, it's a solo trip.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
We're always going to have guy time while I go off to
India.
All right.
Now if you're looking forsomething off the beaten path,
you've got Bushman's KloofK-L-O-O-F in South Africa.
It's a wellness retreat set ina nature reserve, and so it's
absolutely beautiful there.
It offers spa treatments, guided hikes and meditations on

(11:58):
the stunning landscape that itoffers, yeah, and a stunning
landscape.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
I've been to South Africa and it's just gorgeous.
If this is anywhere near CapeTown, cape Town is probably the
most beautiful city I've everbeen to, absolutely gorgeous.
So, yeah, I would say SouthAfrica, this is probably
definitely breathtaking sceneryin this nature reserve and
landscape.
New Zealand, another place thatwe really want to go.
So, if you live in New Zealand, have us over Aroha Wellness

(12:24):

they pronounce that it offers amix of yoga, meditation, hiking,

It's awesome, it's on the list.
It's on the list Our neighborshave been.
They just went not long ago.

We haven't been to this place, this hotel, but we've been to
Sweden.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Sounds really cool though.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
It does.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
And it offers spa treatments in floating cabins on
a frozen river.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
So I've got a question here.
How can it?

Speaker 1 (13:27):
float.
If it's on a frozen river, it'sonly ice, so anyway, but that's
what they say it's a floatingcabin on a frozen river.
Total nordic wellness immersionvery, very fun hopefully, when
they say immersion, they don'tmean like into the ice.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
uh-, uh-huh, uh-huh.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
One that we can recommend, that we've been to,
and we've talked about it before, is Blue Lagoon in Iceland, yes
