“Resiliency is a muscle. And if you don't have opportunities to experience and exercise that, you don't know how to reframe the fear. Fear in itself can be debilitating, but fear faced can be motivating.” Shahrzad Fattahi, DDS, knows about facing fear. She was born in Iran, but had to leave abruptly in 1981 because of the revolution. Dr. Fattahi shares her powerful journey and life-altering experience fleeing Iran as a child. “Rumi, the famous Persian poet 700 years ago said, ‘The wound is where the Light enters you.’ That sums up my life.”
Dr. Fattahi is the youngest person to ever graduate from dental school at the University of Southern California. Dr. Fattahi is a functional and general dentist who is the founder and managing director of Del Dental Group in Los Angeles.
Her very successful private practice is dedicated to staying on the cutting edge of dental science, equipment, and holistic health. Her group has a whole body approach because “the mouth is the main gateway to our bodies.” Del Dental Group provides general, cosmetic, pediatric, implant industry, periodontal therapy, and dental anesthesia. Their mission is: “For anyone who walks through our doors to feel whole, a space of caring, that they're cared for like family, and that their well-being matters -- both staff and patients.” Dr. Fattahi says this goes back to the idea of “fear in dentistry: It has to be a safe environment. That only can happen organically...as a mission.”
