(00:00):
Hello, and welcome to the Thirdand the Dawn Football Show. I am
Joe with me and Cecil. Asalways, week one is in the books,
Week two is here. See's we'regonna be going over the recap of
week one. We're gonna be makingour picks for a week two. There's
a lot to go over this weekbecause I think there was a lot of
results that weren't expected. But that'swhy we love the NFL seas it changes
year by year. So how areyou doing, buddy, dude, I'm

(00:22):
great. You know it is anexciting Week one Bengals aside. You know,
some offenses start out slow, butyou know that's to be expected these
days, and you know, it'sexciting to get back into the swing of
things. Absolutely. I mean havingfootball on almost every day the week,
you know, Thursday, Saturday,Sunday, Monday for right now and then
later on when Macu comes back.Every day of the week. It's gonna

(00:43):
be so much fun. But I'mexcited to have it back. There's there's
a lot of things we'll talk about. As a reminder, if you could
like and subscribe on YouTube or subscribewherever you get your podcast, that'll help
us out as we move along thisseason. See, let's get right into
the recap here. We're gonna we'regonna start on Thursday and work our way
through the weekend, even though there'ssome bigger news that maybe happened last night
game or in Monday night's game.So Thursday night it was the Lions and

(01:07):
Chiefs. Now, we both feltdecently confident that the Lions would you know,
cover the spread. They would theywould be you know, within the
four and a half, six anda half, wherever you got them,
depending on the day you bet them. But they went out and won the
game twenty one to twenty. Now, this was a game where the first
half there was some scoring. Itwas, you know, twenty one points
first half, and the second halfthings really settled down. But the name

(01:30):
of the game here, I thinkwas the Lions having a pretty good offense,
their defense showed real improvement. Andthen you also had the Chiefs not
playing with Travis Kelcey, not playingwith Chris Jones. We're not gonna say
it's an asterisk like Mike Trico Dolanna, We're not here to do that,
but we're just saying, you knowthat that was those players weren't there,
and a lot of the Chiefs receiversKadarius Tony included, dropped a lot of

(01:53):
passes and it made life tough. The Lions get all the credit for the
win. The Chiefs I think havesome work to do. They're a different
team than they were last year.Every Super Bowl champion has to has to
go through a trials and tribulations whilethey tried to repeat and you know,
all the credits of the Lions bigwin exactly. Yeah, to say that
as an asterisk on air is ridiculous. First off, I mean, this
is the National Football League. Imean, there are people who are hurt.

(02:16):
Something's going on. It happens inliterally every single game. So to
say, like, oh, you'rean asterix because they were hurt, it's
like you can make that argument forliterally anything. Ever, Like the Banks
have an asterix because their entire offensiveline was hurt last year? Does that
make the Super Bowl champions? KnowShe's still won, there's still winners,
Like it's it's that simple. Butyeah, I mean, we talked about

(02:38):
the Lions here, just kind oftrying to control possession, not letting Pat
Mahomes have the ball at the endof the game, and they were able
to conversiate a big point, especiallyin the second half. Obviously, that
pick six was very unfortunate for PatMahomes. He you know, he threw
an accurate pass, Canaries County justkind of had to bounce off bottom of

(03:00):
the Brian Branch just took it tothe house. So that stuff you can't
really prepare for if you're the Chiefsoffense. But I mean it is worries
somewhere they're at. I'm not gonnasay the Chiefs are gonna miss the playoffs
or not even that they're gonna notwin the AC West, but they their
offense has gotten slowly depleted over thelast couple of years. You know,
first with Tyreek gone. You know, they got Travis Kelsey, they let

(03:23):
Juju Smith Schuster leave after last year. I mean, with Travis Kelsey isn't
on the field, their options arevery limited. Sky Moore is not being
able to step up from what we'veseen. Clarius Tony, you know,
has potential, but I mean ifhe's dropping passes like that, that's doesn't
really matter if he can't catch thefootball and use that speed. And then
you got Marquez Valudez Scandling still there, who is a journeyman receiver at best.

(03:47):
So they also got rid of MilicaelHorman like as have been on this
team, not anybody who's really letup the scoreboard, but guys that were
consistent role players innew this offense. So that they are all gone, I
think it's going to be a strugglefor them. I think they'll get into
form, you know, just fivemid season, like they always do.
Pat Mahomes is still the quarterback,Travis Kelsey will be there, Chris Jones

(04:11):
is back, which will definitely bolsterthe defense a great deal. But I
mean it's all credited the lines ofthe world. I mean they went into
the Chiefs house on Opening night andthey took a victory from them. You
know, Dan Campbell was aggressive anda lot of different places during that game.
A lot of people in the NFLwould not do the same thing.
But that's what takes the beat oneof the best teams. Sometimes, especially

(04:33):
when you're playing Patrick Mahomes, yougot to gain the advantage you possibly can
because otherwise you're going to be ina situation where you're gonna lose. Did
I think them going the Chiefs goingfor it on fourth and twenty right,
you know, with two o nineon the clock, was a little cocky.
Then getting a false start and goingfor it on the fourth and twenty

(04:54):
five. I think there's a pointwhere any read and the Chiefs off fense
things they can do a little toomuch beyond what normal just analytics, you
know, it's normal thought would tellyou to do at that point, especially
without your number one target out there. So I think that was a big
bonehead move. If I were them, I would have punted it and just

(05:16):
you know, let it play out. You know, you get the two
minute one at that point. Ifyou punted away, you have three timeouts.
Let the Lions put it, putit in their hands and let them
feel all the pressure of knowing thatthey got to keep the ball away from
Patrick Homes. Instead, they gotall the wind their sales because they want
fourth down, and the Lions justpounded the ball in the game, which

(05:39):
is great. They closed out agame, which is more than the Detroit
Lions have done over the last decade. So there are a lot of science
for life for this Lions team. You know, potential for them to win
the NFC North is clearly there. You know, there were a lot of
doubters still before the season. Ithink this kind of shows what we saw
in the Lions, both you andI and you know, the Chiefs are
still gonna make a place, arestill contender obviously, but they are by

(06:02):
note, by no means a perfectteam. Yeah, Seci mentioned mentioned that.
Excuse me. The Chiefs receivers RashiRice, the rookie was kind of
the best one. And that's notsaying much because he didn't even do that
well. He just had a touchdown. But they got to find something out
quick if they want to do somereal damage. Otherwise people will just key
on Travis Kelsey and you know lastyear they had some guys like we talked

(06:25):
about ju Juice Smith Schuster, someguys who were kind of solid and stepped
up. So that's something to note. I also want to say very good
for the brand for the draft tg H Draft brand last night. You
know, the Lions, we mockedthe draft the first last year, then
it got better as time went on. So we have Sam la Florida playing
pretty well. We have Brian Branchwith that pick six. Those were two

(06:46):
of the latter picks that they had. But we also had Jamir Gibbs,
who looked really good. But Iwant Dan Campbell to just totally a Lesia
moving forward. I think a lotof fantasy managers out there kind of want
that as well. But I thinkyou're right. I think Dan Campbell towed
the line of doing the kind ofcrazy stuff and it worked out and the
lines deserve to win. And youknow, now they come back home and
play the Seahawks. We'll see whathappens. NFC North is wide open this

(07:09):
year. We move on to Sundayseats. Let's get the let's get the
bad one out of the way.Here. We have the Bengals and the
Browns. Bengals came into this gameas like a two and a half two
point favorite. The line kept I'mmoving closer to even. You know,
I think that probably had a lotto do with the weather, and it
ended up that the weather was ahuge neutralizer to this team. Now see's

(07:29):
I've been personally critical of the Bengalsoffense because they're not aggressive enough. But
in a game where there's a prettybig downpour, throwing on first down all
the time maybe isn't the best thing, especially when the running game was kind
of going there for a while.I think during the first half Joe Mixon
was up around like four and ahalf five yards to carry. It came
down to like three and a halfby the end of the game. But
I would like them to see themrun the ball more lean on these offensive

(07:51):
line signings. They have not letMyles Garrett just attack Joe Burrow again.
That would have been nice. Butalso I think the Bengals maybe could have
planned better for Deshaun Watson's leg. There was a lot of defensive ends who
were getting too far up the field. There wasn't much quarterback spy there was.
You know, the weather really changedthings and the Bengals were not prepared
for it. This is not anexcuse. You gotta be ready to play

(08:13):
in any type of weather. That'sjust how it goes. But the Browns
took advantage of a Nick Chump hada good day. Deshaun Watson scrambled.
He didn't throw the ball well, but he scrambled well enough. Miles Garrett
just terrorized the Bengals offensive line again, and the Browns one twenty four to
three. You know, it's it'sa shame, It's it's kind of stakes
to start that way. Especially whenthe when the Bills and Chiefs lost for

(08:33):
the Bengals and you have a chanceto get a step up on home field
advantage. But that's what happened.I think it's just a little mental block
against the Browns for now, andJoe Burrow has a new haircut. Hopefully
they can turn the page, right. I mean that said, you know,
the weather, the weather suck, and you know that's fine, that's
going to affect things. I cansee how that can affect to pass first

(08:54):
offense, But that doesn't excuse theBengals for adding zero game plan around and
by zero, I mean it's likethey didn't even acknowledge what could happen if
it was really bad. And we'renot talking like a little ring, We're
talking like consistent, just sopping ring, because that's where it looked like,
and it looked rough out there. It looked hard to play. I mean,

(09:18):
the Browns won this game twenty fourto three ultimately, but I mean
this game was it was three tozero all the way until the pretty much
the end of the first half wherethey scored that Deshaun Watson touchdown last you
know minute of the of the SoI mean this is a close game for
most of the time, mostly becausethe offenses could not get it going.
You know, Chubb was able tokind of finally break away after the Wrangles

(09:41):
defense was tired, and you know, Deshaun Watson made some plays with his
legs that led that first touchdown. But other than I mean, especially in
the first half, the defensive playingby the Mangles, they played definitely well
besides letting you know, Shaun Watsonget up the field a little bit.
You know, they got some turnoversand you know they can assistant, and
they didn't really let up that manypoints at all. So I mean,

(10:05):
the Bengals defense looks good. Theirsafeties held up as much as you could
have hoped. Really, I didn'tsee anything glaring that was like this,
this needs to be fixed right away. Then again, it was it's hard
to get a ball down field withthat much rain. But I mean the
defense did what they could. Imean, it's hard to really stay that
strong when your offense is doing nextto nothing and you're just on the field

(10:28):
pretty much the entire game. Itfields like, but I mean, it's
really all about the Bengals offense inthis one. We want to talk about
it. I mean, the Bengalsbasically conceded by the halfway through the fourth
quarter that the game was over, which I mean at that point it seemed
like it was just a foregone conclusion. I hate them pulling people out,

(10:48):
but at the same time, you'redown, you know, three possessions.
Basically, it's probably time of youknow, throwing the town. But yeah,
I mean, why not run theball with you have X and more?
That's going to be a clear doingwas running well early on in the
game, and you know, we'redoing a lot of these options and RPOs
types of things that are built intothe offense. However, like it was

(11:13):
a day where you could tell JoeBurrow wanted to throw the ball downfield.
He did a couple of times. However, you know, these fifty fifty
balls of the Bengals receivers are usuallyvery good at catching. You know,
got amped up to a whole notherlevel because the timing was a little off,
especially between Joe Burrow and t Higgins. That was very clear. And
two, you know the time he'snot exactly right. Not only are you

(11:35):
contending with that with a fifty fiftyball where high pointing it is very important,
but two. Now, the ballis wet, your hands are wet,
and it's much harder to obviously catcha football that way. So it
just was not a high percentage, you know, if you want to get
analytics basis, it's not a highpercentage success rate for a play, especially
in a game where you don't needan eighty yard pass. I mean,

(11:56):
you could just run the ball anddo some quick middle field stuff. And
the Bengals just they're time rough andthen they just clearly did not game plan
for the weather that they faced. So those are excuses out of the team.
They want to compete for Super Bowl, and they play like that.
They're they look like a bottom fiveteam in the league. The defense is

(12:20):
good, The offense I believe willget better. I think this they write
the ship a lot this week aswell. But yeah, let's hope they
don't find any more rainstorms because I'venever seen they played it's all kinds of
horrible weather before and I've never seenthem just be completely unprepared. Yeah,
this is this is one of thefootball gods just headed out for the Bengals.

(12:41):
There. Apparently in Cleveland it wasonly raining at the stadium. That
was something we noticed we were checkingthe weather during the game, and people
in Cleveland even said, like,it's kind of weird that it's only raining
at the stadium, so it madeit a little bit different. I will
say I'll give credit to defensive coordinatorJim Schwartz for the Browns lining Miles Garret
up in multiple places. He wasable to rush from the nts like an
inside linebacker that did pretty well.Give him a lot of credit for that.

(13:03):
And I do think the Browns area much better team as someone who's
not a very big on the Brownsmost years. If they play the style
of football whether it's not, it'snot going to be like that weather all
the time. If they run thefootball and rely on that defense and let
Miles Scars just you know, pinhis ears back and rush the passer,
they can make the playoffs. Theyvery much can do that. It's about
kind of getting things going from hereon out and not just relying on the

(13:26):
weather to help you out. Whichagain, no excuse is there. They
won the game, the Bengals didn't. All right, let's move on to
other games. At Sunday at oneo'clock seas. The next up, we
have the Falcons beating the Panthers twentyfour to ten. Slow start to this
game, kind of expected it.We had two kind of inexperienced quarterbacks.
We had second year quarterback des Rutteragainst first year quarterback Bryce Young, and

(13:48):
Bryce Young's first game, he threwtwo interceptions. That Falcons defense, they
really invested in it in the freeagent market and that allowed them to go
pick b John Robinson. He hada touchdown in this first game. Definitely
recommend checking out though highlighted. Itwas a catch for a move to get
in the end zone. You know, but this will have some frustrations for
both teams and the fantasy people aswell. I think for the Panthers,

(14:09):
their offensive line still isn't fixed. It's gonna be hard for Bryce Young to
have a great season without offensive linenot being great. Their defense is still
pretty good, but that's that's gonnabe kind of the key bugaboo there.
And then for the Falcons, youknow, you draft all these early draft
picks. You know, Tyler Algierhas two touchdowns, has more carries than
the Majean Robinson, your first roundpick this year. Drake London had less

(14:31):
catches than Desmond Ritter did. DesmondRitterers the quarterback and the ball got deflected
back to them, So you're kindof thinking you took this guy in the
top ten last year. And thenKyle Pitts, the pick first round pick,
you know, two years ago,had two catches for forty four yards.
So the Falcons probably happy to gettheir win. But there's also some
frustrations from fantasy managers and Falcons fansalike that are saying, like, hey,

(14:54):
this is more the football is moreabout the guys on the field than
it is the scheme. We're seeingthat all over the world, you know
with Tyree Kills big week, whichwe'll get to here in a little bit,
Like you gotta use your guys sowell if Falcon's win, and they
gotta feel good because this NFC Southis kind of weak. I mean,
at some point these first round pickshave to do something sease. I don't
know, right, I mean,it's just I don't understand Arthur Smith's offense

(15:18):
is it's literally just to run theball forever, even though like I mean,
we're talking about offense it looks likeit was built for an NFL twenty
years ago. I mean, youdon't just run the ball like this,
like you don't barely ever pass it. It worked against the Panthers team,
which is great. You know, they got to win they can feel good

(15:39):
about. But your quarterback attempts eighteenpasses in the modern day NFL, I
mean, maybe you're Derrek Henry andthe Titans. Sure, and Bijon has
the potential to be, you know, the best running back of the league
obviously, but they're not even usinghim as much. They're using Cordell Patterson
half the time. So I mean, if that's what your offense is going

(16:00):
to be, and you want tokind of model it after that kind of
smash mouth thing we've seen with theTitans to be kind of the answer to
you know, a past league whereguys are throwing you know, thirty five
five times a game. That's fine, but it just is a head scratcher
to why the hell is Drake Londona top ten pick? Why is Kyle
Pitts, who is just this wonderkin of a tight end? Why did

(16:21):
you draft him fourth overall instead ofalignment? Or you know, some play
on defense. You know, JesseBates had a big game for their defense.
You know, their defense definitely lookbetter than I expected to, especially
this early in the season, butthey are playing a rookie quarterback and you
know, we'll see how that worksout as they go, you know,
play a team like the New OrleansSaints, because I mean, I look

(16:41):
at this game, I still thinkNew Oran Saints are the team to beat
in the AFC South, and Ifeel like this, this offense Arthur Smith
is running is not going to bea long term success. I mean,
if you told me you had allthese guys on a roster, I'd be
like, this is a great, you know, dynamic offense, and I
see it every game and I'm justlike, you might as well just get

(17:04):
a fucking blocking wide receiver, Likeit's somebody like Stanley Morgan for the Bengals.
Throw him out there and let himblock, because why Drake Londan,
It's not even that he didn't catcha ball. He got one target the
entire game. One target for youryou know, top ten, very talented
wide receiver doesn't make any sense tome. It is an offense that will

(17:26):
probably fail and it needs to becomemore dynamic, and they need to develop
that because even if let's say thisworks, they manage to go somehow ten
and seven. With this offense, they're not going anywhere in the playoffs.
They're definitely not winning Super Bowl withthis team that's proven and Arthur Smith needs
to adapt and this team all touse the talent they Yeah, so I'm

(17:52):
with you on that seas it's ait's something that he needs to figure out.
But also he is like taunting, like, oh, like fantasy managers,
I don't care about your fantasy team. It's yes, like some people
who play fantasy are realizing it,but it's not like they're complaining. They're
complating because of fantasy. But that'snot like the result. It's like,
hey, dude, you are notusing the players that are on your team

(18:15):
that you've drafted to play. That'slike you're hurting your team at that rate,
Like you said, why not tradethese guys and go get picks or
something that can help you out.I get that he wants to be that
running team, but what scares meis Tyler al Geer took more carries this
week than John Robinson and as wesaw Jamir Gibbs. You know, sometimes
rourky running backs don't always get goingright away right, But like at the

(18:37):
same time, Cordarell Patterson is comingback next week. Probably he was he
was out. He's the joker.Whatever the heck the joker means now like
he's what does that mean? Howmany carries is he gonna get? So?
Are you gonna use your guys ornot? So the upside of this
team is in those young players. You know, I don't. I'm not
a huge jasmc ridder guy. Ihopefully he figures it out for their sake,

(18:59):
but at the same time, makinghim better relies on him using those
weapons. I would love to seethem try to do that in the future
and not just have their coach say, well, we don't care about fantasy
people. No, it's about makingyour team the best possible because you can't
win this way strictly running the balland not relying on a quarterback in the
NFL anymore, that's just not howit works. So hopefully they figure it

(19:19):
out. Next game up, wehave the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Indianapolis Colts.
This was Anthony Richardson's debut, actuallybetter than expectancies. He's kind of
raw come out of college, someaccuracy issues, reading the field issues,
but he looked pretty good. Mighthave a little bit of a Mitchell Trubisky
alert on us though, because hereally didn't throw to the left side of
the field. Mostly most of hiscompletions were to the right, but that's

(19:41):
something he could work on. Itwas a good first start, but for
the Jaguars to get to win thirtyone to twenty one, specifically, have
to point out Trevor Lawrence was throwingsome big time throws. Look like he's
ready to make another step in hisdevelopment, which is good sign for the
Jaguars. And then also Calvin Ridleycomes back from the gambling suspension last year
and receptions one hundred and one yardsand a touchdown. It looks like they're

(20:03):
they're just on fire. I mean, Christian Kirk didn't have a good good
day, but they you know, you think about when you kind of even
things out a little bit. Thisoffense has some weapons. Chrevor Lawrence like
he's taking looks like he's taking thenext step. And the AFC South is
still pretty garbage, so good thing, good news for the Jaguars all around.
Yeah, Anthy Richardson must be anappy turner. He can't turn left,
which is okay, I mean, yeah, he seems to be a

(20:26):
lot for along as development than Ithought it would be, especially Game one
going into a you know, theteam that's supposed to win their division.
He uses athleticism to the best divisibility, which was huge. I mean he
looked athletic, he looked the part. Well. You said, accuracy is
going to be a problem. He'sgot all the world, but I mean
he gets his accuracy. You know, it gets to you know, be

(20:48):
you know, sixty to sixty threepercent passing completion guy. You know about
is that legs that his arm strengthwill make up for the rest. Like
he doesn't have to mean those accuratequarterback in the NFL. Nobody was trying
to make Anthon Richards at that.But I mean it's again, it's a
very winnable division. It's not onethat's very dominant. We'll see where the
Jaguars go this year. But Imean he develops the Colts could be a

(21:11):
force, especially in the week acSouth. That being said, you know,
right now it does look like theJaguars division. Trevor Lawrence made some
great, great rows. The offensereally played really well. The defense was
part that that didn't do as wellas I had to expected. You know,
they're kind of getting you know, talk about an offense that doesn't have

(21:33):
its start running back. You know, the receivers are very just nothing really
of much accomplishment, and you knowthey're still in a dog fight with the
Colts. And I get it's weekone, but there's parts of this Jaguars
team. I love. It's TrevorLawrence, you know, I love tras
Etn and you know, I thinkthey Readley look really good in his return.

(21:53):
But it's really going to be thatdefense that is gonna be the maker
break form ultimately, So we'll seehow they step up. But I mean,
it looks like they're going to winthe FFC South probably pretty easily.
Definitely looks that way, sees. One thing to know, this was a
game that had some weird gambling thingsgoing on. The Colts had the ball
with the chance to score late inthe game, and they could have kicked

(22:15):
a field goal to cut it toseven, then do an onside kick,
but instead they wasted like a minuteand minute and a half at the end
of the game trying to get thetouchdown. Made no sense, less chance
to win the game doing it thatway. But I know there's gamblers out
there who had the Jaguars I believelike what six and a half minus six
and a half a lot. Itwas a lot of the week. So
that's one of two games for anhalf. Yeah, just I we'll have

(22:38):
to see I guess why why ShaneSteken did that. But there's another game
coming up where that also happened. It's just very weird stuff going on at
the NFL. But yeah, Jaguarsget to win and should be able to
win the EFC South again this year. We're gonna move on to the Buccaneers
and Viking sees. This is onewe probably didn't expect, but you know,
Baker Mayfield had a pretty good dayall things considered. They didn't have

(23:02):
the ball moving on the ground verymuch. He is able to hit Mike
Evans for some key plays. Theyget to win twenty to seventeen. Kirk
Cousins tries to lead them back inthe fourth quarter with a touchdown, but
this offensive line looks like it's gotsome issues for the Vikings, you know,
and maybe just some of those onescore games are catching up to him.

(23:22):
Kirk Cousins sit through at three hundredforty four yards two touchdowns. Justin
Jefferson had nine catches for one hundredfifty yards. But you end up losing
the game. We don't know howmuch better the defense is this year,
and the offensive line, if it'sgonna struggle like that, things could go
from having them be a playoff teamthis year to being on the outside looking
in this year. Right. Imean, their offensive line did not play

(23:44):
well. God is the Viking secondaryhorrible at times. I mean, it's
just it doesn't look good. Imean, they've got Harrison Smith back there,
but I mean other than that,I mean it's the deepens of the
hole over the Vikings was a problemlast year, and it seems like it's
the kirk Cousins. It's gonna throwfor three hundred four hundred yards almost,
but it's gonna be the the crispand clean four hundred yards or there's gonna

(24:10):
be some a lot of turnover worthyplays. Some teams will capitalize some wall
and you know they're gonna score somepoints. But it just it's doesn't it's
not a formula for a good footballteam. Kirk Cousins can play well until
it really matters there at the end. That being said, Justin's Jefferson looked
great. Jordan Adison looked good inhis debut. Madison looked good filling in

(24:33):
for role for Davin Cook at runningback. Actor Davin Cook was obviously cut
t. J. Hogginson didn't havea great game, but he was there
and wasn't used. So, Imean there's a lot of weapons on this
Vikings offense, so they had theability to play yards and score some touchdowns.
It was disappointed they only got seventeenyards you know, turnovers and then
like, I just don't under whathappened. I've got Mike Evans a fan,

(25:00):
but like, what is happening?Like you keep letting this guy get
balls deep? And just you know, why are we letting this guy who
literally this is all he's pretty muchgood for in his career, just running
by four touchdown? Yet though, why why is he standing back there?
I mean, what about the TampaBay offense was that threatening? The Vikings
couldn't keep track of Mike Kevins.I don't know, And it's what crossing

(25:22):
the game my eyes. Did youjust say they let Mike Kevins get balls
deep? No? I said getbehind them? Okay, Anyway, that's
not better. No, you're right, You're absolutely right. You just came
out funny. I'm with you.I and Mike Vins in fantasy too.

(25:45):
But he's uh, it was abig game. You're at the Viking secondary
is not very good. I'm encouragedto see what Baker Mayfield does the rest
of the way. I don't thinkit'll be as good as this going to
go to the Vikings, but courtsee what he will do. And then
for the Vikings. You know,we just talk about the Lions how well
they're playing. This could be again. The one score wins last year.
I'm just not those are a coinflip, and they a lot of the

(26:07):
coin flips went their way last year. It may not happen this year.
All right, the decks came up. We have the other interesting gambling thing
going on here. We have theSaints beating the Titans sixteen to fifteen.
Derek Carr pretty good day, beutwith three hundred five yards, one touchdown
and one interception for the Saints. Was able to find Chris Olave for one
hundred and twelve yards. Michael Thomasplayed pretty well and his return slamp Boy

(26:29):
is back. There's a cool clipout there that shows Derek Carr asking to
throw another go route to Rashid Shahid, who's a wide receiver whose number is
twenty two now, which is justweird out of this world, and you
know, the coach is like yeah, yeah, and then Jamis is like
in the back, I'm like, yeah, they're the go, They're the
go. So it was kind ofa fun thing. So they get the
win sixteen to fifteen. They holdon at the end when the Titans score

(26:55):
six fourth quarter points. The Titansare down four minutes left, and they
end up kicking a field goal Ithink with two minutes left to go down
sixteen to fifteen, because they thoughtthey were going to get the ball back,
but it was like, I thinkfourth and goal where they should have
just gone for it. So MikeGraybell maybe knows the spread or something here,
because they spread on this one Ithink was three and a half to

(27:17):
the Saints. So they kicked thefield goal two minutes ago. And I
would say anyone who does that,it's either got to be the worst weather
of all time, or even then, why you're kicking the field goal.
But I guess this isn't a dome. I don't know why you do it.
I really don't know what's going onhere. A good one for the
Saints to protect their home turf andfor the Titans, this could be a
bad year. Ryan Tannehill look badseas. Yeah, Titans just they look

(27:41):
like shells look for him. Imean they look like shells of the team
from two years ago that was reallygood and got to number one seed in
the ABC. Yeah. Ryan Tannhill, I had that one really great year
and ever since that he's been hurtand he's just progressing to the turnover machine
we saw kind of with the Dolphinsa lot of times. I mean,
he doesn't make good read, forcesballs downfield, and he just he doesn't

(28:03):
take what the deep gives him. He's horrible at it. He doesn't see
guys in zone and they just stepup and literally take the ball out of
guy's hands. He was at Dendeeto target Jeffrey Simmons. I mean,
that's good to see him still playingreally well for the Titans. And you
know, Derrick Henry had a decentgame. Wasn't anything crazy, but you

(28:25):
know, it's you know, it'shonestly an underrated sing defensive times, especially
when they're at home like that.But yeah, it's a questionable. I
don't know why in the world you'reyou're down by four, You're literally looking
at the goal line. You haveDerrick Henry, you have some weapons,
you have some big guys. RylenBurke's is a big receiver, you know,

(28:47):
get out there and make something happen, you know, try to force
the issue. And the other teamgets the ball like the four or five
yard line, and next thing, you know, like they gotta go kind
of really try to you know, not punt the ball away and give you
an advantage where you need to scoretouchdown anyway. Like it's just it doesn't

(29:08):
make any sense to me, Likeit's a weird I don't know. The
NFL is not going to investigate itor anything. I don't know if they
ever would do anything like that, especially with a lot of their relationships they
have with with sports gambling. Butit was horrible, Like, I mean,
I don't know what analytics or whathe was looking at to think I'd

(29:30):
rather have three points here than getnone, because the reality is three points,
one, two, three points nowthat matters two points or more now,
and you can take the win hereif you do this why, Yeah,
it was. It was stupid, bad, bad game planning by Mike
Frabele, which is really surprising considering, you know, he is somebody who's

(29:52):
usually in talks for being coach ofthe Year year in a year out.
Yeah. Absolutely, I mean,I think they're gonna try to rebound here.
They usually make a run late inthe season when they can. They
can run the ball, and it'skind of cold. No one wants to
tackle Derrick Henry, but that remainsto be seen. It just looks a
little bit different. Maybe they'll beturning the offense over two at different quarterback
since they have three on the rosternow that have been one's a starter and

(30:12):
two have been drafted decently highly inthe last couple of years. All Right,
see's the next one. I won'tspend too much time explaining. The
forty nine Ers just demolished the Steelersthirty to seven. There was a little
bit of trash talk before this game. Everyone on the on the forty nine
Ers look good, pretty much rockParty coming back from the elbow surgery.
Look good. Christie mccaffree brand andI u k two touchdowns. They are

(30:34):
as we talked about in the seasonpreview show or the Week one preview show
last week. I guess I shouldsay they are a very talented team at
multiple different positions. The Steelers havea lot of work to do, and
they lost Cam Heyward in this game. They lost Jante Johnson in this game.
It's, you know, looking likethe Steelers won't even Mike tom a
miracle to be finished above five hundredagain. Yeah, I mean, no

(31:00):
one saw this coming. I meanI picked the four Nights to win,
but I said it was going tobe super close. Even took the Steelers
plus two and a half because Ithought it would be like literally like a
point in this game that clearly didn'thappen. I mean, the Steelers look
horrible, especially on an offense oran offense I was supposed to take kind
of a a step forward. KennyPickett did not look good. Najie Harris

(31:22):
did not do anything. They werejust completely ineffective. Deandi Johnson got hurt
as well, so he's out fora couple of weeks. Yeah, I
mean, in the defense really didn'tdo anything. I mean, Brock Purty
looked really good, like better thanhe looked last year. He looked like
he's really even stepped up his gameeven despite coming from an elbow injury.

(31:47):
I mean, the four Anders justhad to get a new right tackle and
it seemed like the Steelers defense justdidn't do that much to really I've been
said, you know, Christian McCaffreyreally did a good job of running the
ball, so they couldn't really focusas much on the past. But Fort
Stewers defensives wanted as being one ofthe best. They die a quarterback who's

(32:07):
not known to really be that talentedRock Party really at all. I mean,
they just beat them down. Theybeat him at Hinsfield by a great
deal as well, And yeah, that was a that was an embarrassing the
first game. You know, thePeoples had an embarrassing the first game as
well. You know, at leastit was in weather and it wasn't at
home. You know, for theSteers, it was an absolute mess.

(32:31):
Oh absolutely, And I think thisjust kind of this weekend proved to me
that the the NFC elite teams arethe NFC elite teams in different ways,
and the forty nine Ers are thatteam. And you know, Rock Party
improves this year, that team couldbe more dangerous than it was last year.
Let's just hope they have the quarterbackdepth this year to something does happen,
because that could have totally changed thatNFC Championship game last year. All

(32:52):
Right, two teams who are notprojected to be very good this year played.
The Commanders beat the Cardinals twenty tosixteen. The Cardinals kind of went
up to an early lead in thefirst half, and then the Commanders came
back in the second. I willsay I don't think we can glean too
much about this either way. Imean, Josh Dobbs is starting for the

(33:13):
Cardinals. They're probably going to tank. Their defense played tough, they played
very physical, and Sam how Idon't think you know if you have the
guy yet. After two Hunter twoyards, one touchdown, one interception,
these are two teams on the stinkerlist until they heard something otherwise. These
are teams you're not putting on Sundayticket and unless there's some reason, some
diehard fan or some fantasy reason why. The fantasy reasons are starting to get

(33:36):
a little like Mark Piece Brown's inmy dynasty league and I'm always just sitting
there like he's a number one receiver. But it's even more starting with even
though I gotta start like twelve peoplethis week. It's a hard thing to
figure out though. So that's wherethe Cardinals offense is for fantasy. And
the Commanders, I mean, yeah, sam how is okay? Like he

(33:58):
just showed he's very average. Again, is he better than the string of
Commanders quarterbacks we've seen it in thelast couple of years. I don't know.
Terry mccorin got some balls towards theend. Brian Robinson didn't look bad.
Curtis Samuel had his normal game earlythis season where he almost clipses one
hundred yards and people remember Curtis Finalsexists, and yeah, it was enough

(34:20):
to win him a game against theteam that's horrible. It's good to see
the Cardinals not really just kind ofgive up from the onset or anything like
that. They didn't play hard, they did have an early lead. But
if this team was in any waytrying not to just embrace the tank,
they would have kept Colt McCoy asor quarterback. That's just that simple.
You know, you can say allyou want, but like they traded for

(34:43):
Josh Dobbs and cut Colt McCoy,I would never have said that Josh Dobbs
is better than Colt McCoy, especiallyfor someone when you're talking about wanting to
run a functional offense and not somekind of thing with option. I mean
even that, like I couldn't tellyou anything, WHI rush Jobs is better
than cold McCoy any facet. He'sa better airspace engineer. He mentioned in

(35:05):
that at Tennessee. That's all Ican give you. Probably mean McCoy build
a rocket ship. No, Idon't know. I mean, all I'm
gonna say is that the first quarterbackon Mars will probably be Josh Dobbs.
I yeah, let's just move onfrom these two teams. There's nothing else
to say here. The Commander's defense. Maybe you can get him in some
games, but you know, can'tseriously consider them. Was Sam how a
quarterback until he maybe takes a stepWe'll see next game. Up sees a

(35:30):
lot of expectations for the Ravens thisyear. New offensive coordinator oh B j's
A Flowers come into this game.Mark Andrews is already out for this one.
Tylerd Linderbaumb goes down with an injury, but not too serious. I
think he's gonna be back this week. Roddie Stanley goes down with an injury.
Marcus Williams, the safety goes downwith an injury. The good news
is they gotta win because it wasagainst the Texans twenty five to nine.

(35:51):
But this team, I mean,it's almost like a what cost you know,
j K Dobbins, I forgot theguy who had the most serious injury,
torn as towards Achilles can't stay healthytrack to year. I feel bad
for him because he could have madesome money this season playing very well.
Looked like he got off to agood start, so banged up after the
first week. The last couple ofyears, the Ravens have been banged up
so much. It sucks to seethat keep on happening. They get the

(36:14):
one twenty five to nine, Ithink they really took advantage of a rookie
quarterback starting, and the Texans stilljust don't have that roster build up quite
yet to be competitive against good teams. But man, the future for the
Ravens, it's just going to takeanother good coaching job by John Harbaugh to
get them back to the playoffs afteralready having these injuries start. Yeah,

(36:34):
they really need to look and tofigure out who their strength conditioning coach,
their whole training staff, what thehell goes on? It's it's weird.
Apparently, you know, I havesome Ravens insiders out. They did fire
their strength conditioning coach in like twentytwenty. They're one that and apparently had
been there for over a decade. And right after that, all these guys

(36:54):
started getting hurt. So it maybelook into getting that guy back, because
I don't know what the hell. You know, injuries happen, right,
but at this level and this severityover and over, there's something with it.
I mean, there's you don't there'sno way to have that much bad
luck. There's there's some science behindit. There's something you know, medically,

(37:15):
you know, conditioningwise that the Ravensmust There's gotta be something that's causing
some of these injuries to happen thatcould be avoidable. But I mean it's
a sad say. You know,I don't like the Ravens. You know,
they're not our division. Pretend Ilike the Ravens or you know,
really like want them to win,but I don't want them to lose because
this keeps happening like that doesn't proveanything, Like it's sad to watch NFL

(37:38):
teams sustain injuries because then winning andbeating them means nothing. Beating someone who
is you know, less than ahundred percent is not good football. I
want to watch my team beat yourteam at the best it is. I
don't want to watch some you knowand hear all these different excuses. Injuries

(37:58):
do happen, but injuries like this, especially in the same positions over and
over, are hard to see. They're hard to watch, and they do
get a win against a text teamof the rookie quarterback and a Texans offense
does not look good by any means, and their defense. It's just there's
a lot of holes on this teamstill. Right now, it's looking like

(38:19):
a toss up. I think theCardinals play better than the Texans did overall,
so we'll see who who ends upbeing the worst team in the league.
It's still a lot of games left, obviously, but yeah, the
Ravens win one, but it iswhere's their season going to go from here?
Depending on how long takes some ofthese guys get back. Because we're
talking JK. Dobbins. Sure theyhave a strong running back room, but

(38:42):
we're talking you know, Marcus Williamsgoes down, Marlin Humphreys banged up.
You know, Tyre Lindbaum and RonStaley are both hurt. Like it's two
starting offensive linemen that I mean, that stuff is critical. And that's just
someone I can name off the topof my head. And those are all
high impact, high level players forthe race. Yeah, that's uh,
it's just that it started so soon. Usually it takes some time. You

(39:05):
know, one week they'll have aninjury, but like it just feels like
it's not not their season and it'syou know, I would love to see
what Lamar Jackson could do in thisnew offense. I'd love to kind of
diagnose what's going on, but it'skind of hard when all these injuries are
piling up, as you said, for the for the Texans, and they're
looking better at worse than the Cardinals. Man, does not feel great if
you're a Cardinals fan, because youhave the first round pick, so you
can you can get your Cable Billiames, you can go get your Marvin Harrison

(39:28):
and then next year you can atleast be a little bit more fun.
All Right, We're gonna move onto the Sunday afternoon evening games. It
should say Sunday evening games. Wehave the Packers and Bears first. I
mean, first half was pretty close, yas it was ten to six at
half. I believe Jordan Love lookedokay, missing some throws but making some
throws too, using his legs onsome plays. The second half is where

(39:52):
the Packers total team quality took over. I wouldn't say Jordan Loved per se,
but their offensive line is the bestin the league. They have six
starters. They're the only team inthe league has six starters. They have
a guys so that it is rotatedand out because David Botier has been hurt
the last couple of years, whothey've had starting experience, So they have
six starters and that works. Andwhat also works is the Bears defense is

(40:15):
bad. I mean they had somany busted coverages. They spent some money
on linebackers this offseason, but theyreally didn't upgrade anywhere else in the draft.
They took some defensive lineman, butagain the second third round picks maybe
not going to help the most.So the Bears with the bad defense and
they're bad offensive line really creative problemsbecause justin fields didn't look great. But
it's hard to say, like, hey, it's all his fault when he

(40:37):
is all this pressure coming in.So the Packers get a big win thirty
eight to twenty. I think thismore says more about the Packers quality roster
around Jordan loved than Jordan loved himself. But we'll see how he develops in
the next couple weeks. And italso says a lot about the Bears offensive
line and defense, which does notlook like it might. It doesn't look
think it's much better than last year, which is a problem. Right,

(40:59):
And yeah, I mean, Imean the Packers they have a good roster.
I mean it build a roster playsvery well, and it plays very
well in the regular season. Youknow, a decent a decent defense.
I wouldn't say it's it's really good. I'd say average. They've got two
solid running backs to Aaron Jones isreally good. Aj Dillon is could be

(41:22):
a starter on some teams. Theygot some young receivers ones that are you
know, talent is okay there,It's not elite by any means. Older
veterans like Lazarrecaver obviously gone and withthe Jets because of Rodgers. So I
mean they're a team that can beatbad teams in the NFL. The air

(41:43):
structure that way. As long asJordan Love doesn't give the ball away.
It's when they get the playoffs they'reshrewd. It's unless Jordan Love can elevate
his game, which he played,ok, he played decently well here,
I'll give him that. I'm notgonna say he played bad or he didn't
have a good game. And hedid have a good game. But it's
easy to do when you have adefense the Bears that just did not mesh

(42:05):
at all. And you know, you've got a Bears offense that is barely
functional in giving you the ball back, you know, every you know,
probably ten plays. So again, the Packers, you know, people say
that, you know, they canplay for a playoff spot. I think
that's possible. You know, Ipredicted they'd be right kind of right there
at eight eight or nine, nineto eight, like that's where I see

(42:27):
them at. I think I kindof sided towards eight and nine because they're
gonna run into some tough teams thatJordan Love is gonna have to It's not
gonna be a choice of Oh,the whole offense is clicking and playing a
team that still hasn't get their shiptogether, and it's Week one in the
NFL. So they get the winhere, that's great. It's just they
shown they don't have the ability theway their teams set up, the way

(42:49):
they design their plays to make itto the next level. I mean,
there's nothing If you couldn't win orget to a super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers
and DeVante ad there and all, there's the kind of got squandered away.
There's no way I see this teambeing able to advance further or even as
far with Jordan Love and these youngreceivers. I'm with you on that.

(43:12):
That was my case of why Ithink they might be a five hundred team
this year. I still think that'son the table, five hundred or less.
I think I took the under onseven and a half win, so
i'll say less. Then. It'sjust that if you can't get that far
with Aaron Rodgers, maybe you don'tget that far with Jordan Love either.
So we'll see how the NFC Northplays out. It's gonna be an interesting
division. Next upseats. I'm gonnatry to recap this game in under thirty
seconds because I don't like either ofthese teams. Raiders seventeen Bronco's sixteen.

(43:37):
Raiders Pat you could be Myers witha big day, nine catches, ready
when yards, two touchdowns. Hegot knocked out with concussion. They were
really covering debut the Adams. Willthey get to win? Jimmy Garoppolo is
Jimmy Groppolo. We on all knowwhat he does. It's not the greatest,
but whatever. Russell Wilson was moreefficient this year, but really didn't
push the ball downfield. Sean Paytonbeing back in the NFL is awesome.
He tried to surprise on sidekick. It worked, the penalty was thrown,

(44:00):
so had to come back. Butthese two teams stakes, He's I don't
care that they stick. Yeah, they're not good. The quarterbacks aren't going
to take them anywhere. The Raidersat least have good weapons on offense.
They got Josh Jacobs, they gotDeVante Adams. Jacobe Myers didn't look bad,
and I mean, there's stuff tolike about the Raiders offense, it's
just their quarterback socks. And thedefense is definitely still really bad. And

(44:23):
the Broncos are the definition of aboring ass team to watch. They have
a pretty good defense and a veryvery not like just a net but a
very just boring conservative offense. That'sjust I mean, maybe it'll take off
that seam Payne gets more comfortable withwhat Russell Wilson can do. But as
of right now with this game planshowing me, especially from what I've seen

(44:45):
from Sean Payton through the years ofhis offenses with the Saints, is he
doesn't trust Russell Wilson at all.And that's a formula for a very very
boring conservative offense. And they're justgonna hope to go The defense keeps them
the games. In my Ohio isa good home go to bench from the
econ wins. Yeah, that's allI gotta say about that one is the

(45:05):
great, Forrest Gump said. Nextup, we have the Philadelphia Eagles and
the New England Patriots close spread onthis game. There was some talking about
maybe the Patriots being able to playcover cover one against the Eagles being a
successful path to beating them, butthe Eagles hang on to with that's when
twenty five to twenty they get thefirst half lead, they kind of hang
on at the end. Mac Joneslooks okay and making the comeback at tenth

(45:27):
with over three hundred yards three touchdowns. That was pretty good. But at
the end of the day, theEagles talent went out. I think is
kind of the big thing. Andwhat we learned in terms of maybe more
of a fantasy perspective is Kenneth Gainwellis the lead back fourteen carries. DeAndre
Swift was involved a little bit,and then Rashot Penny was a healthy scratch,
which oh boy, or shot Penny. I wish, you know,
wish she stayed healthy. And Iwish they didn't pick you that high because

(45:51):
I think it's set you up forfailure. But the Eagles get a tough
road win against Bill Belichick team. They deserve some credit here. I'm not
panicking over that. And for thePatriots, he played better than I expected,
honestly they did. I mean Ireally thought the Eagles would win by
a touchdown. I was wrong.I'm glad they won by five due to
a lot of lines being about fourpoints, so God bless. But I

(46:14):
mean mac Jones played better than hedid all of last year. And this
is kind of more like the macJones we saw two years ago, where
he could throw for some yards andlike that's fine. I'd rather know like
Mac Jones, I can throw cards, throw for some touchdowns and he's gonna
throw for some interceptions and make somebonehead plays. I rob that that guy
then two hundred yard back Jones andan interception and maybe one touchdown. Right,

(46:40):
I'd rather have Jameis Winston the throwsfor forty touchdowns and forty interceptions and
a guy that can barely throw fortwo hundred yards and still throw its interception.
Anyway, Yeah, they played betterthe Eagles still, I mean,
they didn't look great, but Imean, again, it's week one.
We'll see how the offense mashes overtime, and you know, the defense
still look decently good at a lotof points and you know, trying to

(47:04):
get those turnovers and those types ofthings. So the Eagles I think are
going to be fine, and Tris, you know, they'll play themselves into
a conversation where they're playing relevant gamesstill in December. Totally agree with that,
And yes, I think we likeit a lot more. With Jamis
plays in the NFL. We're gonnabe petitioning him here at the end of
the show, maybe to get ona new team so we can see him

(47:25):
play on the field, not justto be a backup anymore. Next one
up seas Dolphins and Chargers, oneof the most interesting matchups of the whole
weekend. Before we went in,I mean it was it was just a
hype matchup, but also when ithappened. We have the Herbert versus two
a debate going on. We havetwo teams who have maybe not cracked into
those top three contenders in the AFC. A lot of fun to be had

(47:45):
there to Ron Armistead was out forthe Dolphins though. That made me a
little bit hesitant after I made mypick of the Dolphins last week, but
two it came out on fire.He is the early MVP leader. It
is after one week that means nothing, but at least to have to say
it. He learned to jiu JITsthrough this offseason. He's a totally different
player. But he had four tosixty six yards, three touchdowns, one

(48:05):
interception, really benefiting from getting theball to his playmakers. Tyreek kill eleven
catches, two hundred eighteen yards andtwo touchdowns. Now it's a back and
forth game and the Dolphins have tomake some big throws. At the end,
they make a deep throw to Tyreekkill to get them down near the
goal line or down near the redzone, I should say, And then
they get in. They get inthe red zone and two of fines Tyreek

(48:27):
and the perfect past that goes rightpast the defender's helmet. His accuracy has
always been what he's been best at. But you know, just great ball
placement. This team could be dangerous. This is all without Jalen Ramsey not
being there. So you know, everyone else gets off to an O and
one start the AFC. You know, the Bills, the Chiefs, the
Bengals. Aaron Rodgers goes down forthe Jets. The Chargers also lose a

(48:50):
game here, and the Dolphins getan early a little jump on this,
and now they're the betting favorites inthe AFC East. This is as good
of a start as you could drawup, considering Toronto said and Jalen Ramsey
were out two of their better players. Sees Dolphins, they I think you
got to be afraid to play themall. Two is healthy, Yeah,
I mean, I'm very happy tosee the two picked up kind of where
he left off when he was stillhealthy. I mean, we remember the

(49:14):
early part of the NFL season lastyear, the Dolphins were absolutely dominant.
So it was two. Uh.I mean they're throwing for four hundred yards
like it was nothing, and itwas insane. And since that point,
the defense has gotten better. Youknow, the offense has really continued to
thrive. They have drown. Armsteadwhen he's back will help with the pass

(49:34):
rush as well and give to evenmore time. But really it's it's probably
the most perfect marriage I can seein the NFL between quarterback and scheme.
And you know, an head coachlike we've seen guys, you know,
Sean mcg major jerk off look good. You know, we got Matt Stafford
a Super Bowl. But when MikeMcDaniel has been able to do and maximize
to uh, is nothing. It'samazing to watch. He looks like two

(50:00):
looks like an absolute Hall of Famea out there and not the two isn't
a great quarterback in his own right, but the scheme is just so well
done. And it shows you thata lot of you know, offensive coaches,
a lot of his coaches the NFLdo not scheme as well as Mike
mp daniels does. Weekend and aweek out, I mean work, he
schemes guys oupen. He makes thethrows easier for two US two has great

(50:22):
accuracy, but it's nice to seea coach that makes it a little easier
sometimes on this quarterback to make playsand to be the best quarterback he can
be, which is you know, you can you can talk about it.
He puts on performances like this theentire season. You know, you can
argue possibly best quarterback in the NFLkind of tear again, that's saying that's

(50:44):
a lot, but you know, you put up performances like this, he
stays healthy, you know, firemanargument and a debate why he can't be
talked out. Was one of theabsolute top quarterbacks in the NFL. But
you know that doesn't mean just becauseyou have the best quarterback that you just
leave him out there to fuck itout. You know, that's one of
the biggest things you'll talk about withthe Bengals offense and Joe Burrow is I

(51:06):
mean, Zach Taylor seems like he'sa great locker room guy. And not
to like make this all about theBengals, but you know, there's there's
different coaches out there. There areguys that are locker room guys and there
are guys that are really you know, X and O guys, and there's
a rare quality where they have both. Bike McDaniels seems to be a guy
in the locker room loves and asa guy who who knows how to scheme
an offense and does it, youknow, almost flawlessly better than anybody I

(51:30):
see in the NFL. And that'swhen the mcvays. You know, the
Shanahans. You can talk about thoseguys and then they look great. But
Mike McDaniels is doing it better. And somebody who nobody ever heard of until
probably three years ago. So Imean, he's he's great. It's fun
to watch the Dolphins. The Dolphinsare probably the most fun team in the
NFL to watch if you're just ageneral NFLX you know, observer, And

(51:54):
it's just too upright. If tous stays healthy, the Dolphs could be
none the league. Like it's thatsimple. They already get up. You
know, the Bills stout good, and you know these other teams have kind
of really you know, Week one, none of the top teams in the
AFC, all top three seeds inthe AC last year, lost their first

(52:15):
game and that's huge, and likeI know, it seems like, oh,
it's just one game. It's ayou know, seventeen game season,
but ultimately each game matter, especiallywhen you're talking about home field of bench.
So Dolphins get an early lead, they look good. Can they keep
two upright the entire year? Youknow, they have guys they place.
They signed Ben harm Stead. Theywant their quarterback to stay healthy and they're

(52:37):
going to do everything they can haveif he does. The Dolphins are scary
and can play against a team inthe NFL. The Chargers. I mean,
their offense was good, it's justagain the defense is not step up
when they need to, and theyjust they lost another close game and it
just keeps happening. You know, how many more game teams are the Chargers

(53:00):
gonna blow and lose by that ship? Like it's it's that close. They're
a good team. They're a teamthat everyone keeps waiting for them to take
that four to go. The Chargersare you know, a top three team
in the league or a top fiveteam, and they don't. They just
are always this team no matter itseems like how much talent they got,
the more you think the Chargers aregoing to dominate. They just can't win

(53:22):
a game. They end up ina dog fight and just can't pull it
out at the end. So youhate to see it. You hate to
see it for Justin Herbert because Imean, if they end up being a
team that wins, you know,go nine and eight, ten and seven,
get bounced out of the first roundof the playoffs again. I mean,
I don't know what else to reallysay, or you know, say

(53:44):
what they can fix besides just blowingup the team because the coaching is just
not there. I'm with you,and I think maybe the planning of the
team isn't there either, Like, yeah, they got some free agents on
defense. We know they're very clelMAC and they got JC Jackson, who
did not look like you did beforehis injury in this game. Really give
up some big plays, but likethey use their first round pick on a

(54:05):
receiver and Quentin Johnson did not havethe best game. It doesn't mean this
an indictment on his full career, but like, fix that defense, man,
Like, I don't know, it'sjust you give up to all those
points last year to the Jaguars. The Chargers are the team where I think
I need to see it to believeit. I think a lot of people
do too before, Like you caneven pick them to advance in the playoffs.
Like best case scenario, they getthis, you know, the first

(54:28):
wild card this year, they don'tbeat the Chiefs. We'll just say that's
the best realistic scenario for right now. Things could change and they go up
against one of the division winners.I mean, yeah, if they somehow
match up with the team who winsthe AFC South, maybe they have a
chance. But they've already played theJaguars last year and we saw what happened.
So I went through the Chargers havesome work to do. But see,

(54:49):
I'm more excited that everyone's on thetwo and on trade. Now let's
just get it rolling. I'm excitedfor the season for him. I've been
a big fan of him just becauseyou know he has that accuracy. I
think will get doubts because of theinjuries, and I think there should be
some doubt, but I think peoplehave gone a little bit overboard with it,
and we'll see how they do.It's would be a fun team to
watch. Like you said, wetalked about some of the other teams being
like the last on your Sunday ticket. Watch list. The Dolphins every week

(55:12):
are number one on your Sunday ticketwatch list, besides this week because they're
playing the Patriots as on the NightFootball and won't be on that. But
that's just something to note for thefuture. Let's go to a game that
completely shocked me. Sees. Wehave the Rams beating the Seahawks thirty to
thirteen. There was no Cooper Cupin this game. The Rams had traded
away Jalen Ramsey. It's not thisteam that won the Super Bowl a couple

(55:35):
of years ago. It's different. But Matt Stafford looked healthy. He was
incredible. He was throwing to guyslike two two at Well, who's one
of the smallest players in the league, and Pouka Nakua, who was a
fifth round draft pick, and theywere able to get to win thirty to
thirteen. The Seahawks, I stillthink they're a good team. I mean
everything from their team last year's back. They improved on that when they got

(55:59):
Devon whether Spoon and Jackson Smith andJigba this year in the draft. I
don't know. Rams just looked reallySean McVay pulled these guys out of nowhere
and they won thirty to thirteen doesn'tmean the whole season is going to go
that way. They had a wholeoffseason to prepare. These two teams frequently
struggle with each other at times whereone team is good, they struggle with
the other one. But this wasa out of nowhere a game for me.

(56:22):
Yeah, I mean offense. Imean Sean McVay schemed a hell of
a game with people no one reallythought were worth anything. I mean,
Nikola Is looked like a like CooperCup, Like that's what it looked like.
And I'm just like sitting there andI'm like, it is Cooper Cup.

(56:44):
Actually that good. It's Sean McVay. Just find a guy who's kind
of shippy, not necessarily fast orgigantic, but just runs are around well
and is able to make a guymiss every once in a while. That's
all it is. But shock bay, I mean, he took advantage of
six team. That's honestly, it'syou know, it's good on the perimeters,

(57:04):
but it's weak on the inside,it feels like at times, and
you know, especially around the middleof the field, and Sean McVeigh really
took advantage of that. You know, Bobby wat did not look that great
in his return to the Seahawks, and then I mean Aaron donald just absolutely
blew up the middle of the Ramsor of the Seahawks offensive line, just
blew them up like that. It'sjust what happened, Like Gino Smith didn't

(57:28):
have any time to get in rhythm. I mean, they just I mean,
the offensive line for as well asit approved last year, and those
rookies played really well. I meanAaron Donalds, I don't know, maybe
he just is healthy right now andisn't beat down by the season, but
he looked completely on stoppable, likejust I mean, he wrecked that entire
game for them, like the Seahawksdid not have an answer for it.

(57:50):
And that's why people say Aaron Donald'sthe best player in the NFL, and
one hundred percent see why. AndI mean he plays like that. You
know, this season, the Ramscan be in talks to get a wild
card. I don't think they're gonnabe the forty nine ers right now.
I don't think this scheming is gonnawork forever because I think more people will
figure out what Sean McVay is doingas a season agresses. But I mean

(58:12):
they got off to a hell ofa sport, and I mean Pete Carroll's
offense and defense, like just theyweren't ready for it, and they weren't
able to master their weaknesses at all, and it just caused the entire game
to get kind of up ended.Yeah, I'll always remember for the rest
of my life the clip we gotof Aaron Donald being able to rush free

(58:34):
on Geno Smith. He just says, oh my god, did you hear
it on the microphone? It's semisterrelatable thing you'll ever hear a quarterbacks say.
He just threw it away. Butif these guys you know, are
healthy and mcvacant can dial up someplays, it'll be good and get a
Cooper Cup back if they do,I mean hamstring injuries sometimes. Linger could
be a huge boost of this team. It could change up the NFC playoff
structure. As you said, theycould be a wild card this year.

(58:57):
Sunday Night Football sees the Cowboys beat the Giants already did nothing, whooped
them as a bad weather game. There was a special team's touchdown defensive touchdowns.
If you had Dallas offensive players whoweren't named Tony Poward, you're probably
mad. It's not the greatest gamesfor their other guys Dak Prescott one hundred
forty three yards. They just didn'tneed to do anything. They just,
you know, ran the ball. And you know when a rain game,

(59:19):
that's we should do to get thelead and run the ball. So I
will say if i'm the Giants, very bad performance, but it was rating
a lot, just like I'll sellthe Bengals. Just burn the tape and
move on. You're not going tofigure out anything from this, you know.
I've heard from other podcasts that youknow, maybe Brian Dabele had a
party of the night the Saturday night, the night before the game. You

(59:40):
know, maybe that got in hishead. I don't know what coaches does
it defect players as much as playersdo. I don't know. But just
burn the tape, just move on. I don't know. I don't think
the Giants are a bad team.I don't think Brian Dabele's a bad coach.
Just just forget about it. Thisis just a juggernaut who got up
early and was able to run awaywith it, partially due to the weather.
Yeah, I mean it was justa team where I mean the Giants

(01:00:01):
and we talked about this in theseason preview last week is did they get
any better than last year? Imean, we saw a team that got
off to a hot start. BrianDabele is a great coach and could scheme
with the best of them and reallymaximize the talent this roster. But it
doesn't feel like the roster got anymore talented, which is a big question

(01:00:22):
mark. And I mean with teamthat, you know, the rain and
stuff like that is causing things togo right, it's harder for scheme to
really work that well because I meantheir scheme is I mean, this is
just football. This is just bigguys go out there and hit each other
when it's pouring down rain like that. It's hard to have much more of

(01:00:44):
an offense than that. And DanielJones did not look good. I mean,
any quarterback probably want to fold inthat. Dak didn't have a good
game. It's just like you said, the Cowboys made some good defensive plays
early on, capitalized on all thosedrives and Tony Pollard. Look, I
mean again, the Cowboys are areally good NFC team. Some people you

(01:01:05):
know, think they could be thebest team in the NFC, and they
showed it in this game. Now, am I selling everything on the Giants,
So I think they're gonna get youknow, they're gonna go five and
twelve or something. No, Ithink they go exactly where. You know,
I think the win total was sevena half and I think their team
again that goes right around that fivehundred mark and you know, kind of

(01:01:27):
comes back to earth because they're notplaying as soft of a schedule as they
did last year, and they reallyover cheated based off the scheming that Brian
Dable was able to do and toexploit things that the NFL is going to
catch up on this year. DanielJones, I don't think it's a long
term answer. They didn't really havea choice, and the receiver corps and
the defense everything looks exact same, and it's just it's one of those games

(01:01:50):
that you watch and you're like, they played a more talented team. I
was able to overcome a situation becausethey are bigger and faster than them.
Absolutely, And like I said earlier, seas, I think these these top
teams in the NFC really proved themselvesin Week one in a way that the
top teams in the n the AFCdid not. So it could be seen
a little bit more of a wackysituation in the AFC, where there's more

(01:02:12):
teams that are good, whereas theNFC, these teams might be fighting for
first round buys with thirteen ish winsfourteen wins at the end of the season.
So we'll see how that all goesdown. Now, sees, let's
go to the Monday night game. This might be one of the more I
don't want to say it to beinsensitive in Aaron Rodgers injury, but one
of the more interesting games I thinkwe've seen on Monday Night football in quite

(01:02:34):
some time. I'm just gonna kindof go down the list here. Jets
fans excited Aaron Rodgers, possible SuperBowl. The defense is good, they
have Aaron Rodgers hard knocks is there. Things go well, he gets hurt
with it, what forty five seconds, I think seventy five seconds, whatever
the number is, four plays it'she goes down. Zach Wilson comes in.

(01:02:58):
Also in this game, Josh Allenplays so bad that some people on
Twitter are accusing him of shaving points. I don't think that's the case.
I think he just played really bad. But that's how bad he played.
A defensive player for the Jets hadthree interceptions Jordan Whitehead as a result of
the Josh Allen interceptions, Zach Wilsoncomes into the game. He leads a
comeback attempt. Garrett Wilson has oneof the craziest catches you will ever see

(01:03:22):
to help them tie the game up, and that is the bats it with
one hand to himself and then catchesit, showing his immense talent. And
on top of that, we youknow, we go to overtime and we
have a walk off punt return TVby Xavier Gibson who was a hard knock

(01:03:42):
star and you know, looks likethe punter doesn't want any part of him,
just jukes right by him and theJets get the win. After all
of that, that is a summationof what happened. It was poorly paid
football until the second end of thesecond half, really, I mean end
of the fourth quarter. But itwas such a interesting game with so many
different things happening. I struggle tosay the word fun because Rogers got hurt,

(01:04:03):
but it was so fun and weirdthat man, I mean, Monday
night Football may be back this yearseason. I don't know what else to
say. Yeah, it's one ofthe best Monday night football games I've seen
a while, and you are byNFL being scripted. I mean that was
a hell with roller coaster. Imean, one of the best three hours
of you know, just sports media. You've seen just the opposite downs and

(01:04:25):
so many storylines going on. Iwas laughing because that image of that punter
in overtime trying to tackle Xavier Gibson, if you want to call it that,
I mean, I've never seen Idon't know how he thought this would
work. I don't know if hethought it'd make him look better. But
I've never seen a human being jumpdirectly up vertically into the air to then

(01:04:49):
trackle someone two feet to their rightand then in the tackling process just shoves
them while midair. Like I've neverseen anything quite like that. I've seen
punters, you know, kind ofjust kind of push somebody a little bit.
I've never seen a guy literally jumpdirectly in the air to then like

(01:05:11):
hit them where that I mean,I'm not I'm not a physicist here,
but I feel like you have morepower, you know, when you're able
to push off the ground gravity andthen maybe if he like launched himself into
him, it would have made senseor maybe that's what he was trying to
do, and it just was sohorribly done. But holy crap, that
replay I've watched probably ten times nowjust watching him just literally just jump and

(01:05:34):
just like you know, I youknow, I love when punters and kickers
make the tackle. I love whenthey just lay somebody out or just go
for the lakes and at least slowa guy down. But holy crap,
it was just like a punter's goingthat no one else is gonna catch him.
I'm not getting hurt, but Igot out for ten that I didn't

(01:05:55):
run out of the way, sothat was that was good. Now of
the actual game, yeah, AaronRodgers getting I mean, the Jet season
virtually over, like I didn't makethe playoffs if they have a historically good
defense and the defense plalls they did, and Breest Hall and that offensive running
game plays well, sure, Imean, I've seen worst wild card teams

(01:06:19):
make. However, it's competitive outthere, and I don't know how well
Zach Wilson is going to play therest of the seasons. It's like the
Jets teams we've seen over the lastcouple of years, right, and no,
the defense is better, and that'swhy I'm saying, you know,
there's an outside shot maybe they makethe playoffs somehow, But I mean the
season was kind of a you know, super Bowl or bus kind of thing,

(01:06:40):
not let's make the playoffs and losein the first round, because that's
what we kind of saw. Whatthe kind of what we saw would be
kind of the ceiling of the Jetsmade of the playoffs that they'd be probably
an early out because of what we'veseen with Aaron Rodgers the last couple of
years. But now, I mean, Zach Wilson is if he takes some
magical step, sure, and hatsoff Nathaniel Hackett if they managed to do

(01:07:00):
that. But I do like howthis team plays hard, and I do
love watching this defense. And thisis a aggressive defense, not just a
defense that's gonna, you know, hold you back from points. This is
a team that's going to score onyou and like make you regret everything you
did that day. If you camein thinking this was going to be an
easy win against the Jets, you'regonna be sorry of mistaken and then you're
gonna look like an idiot sometimes becauseI don't know what the hell happened to

(01:07:25):
Josh Allen. I think he justwent I'm gonna win this game and just
stopped caring or I mean he lookedlike every flaw and we've talked about Josh
Allen has had these games not asmuch recently in the last two years where
he just is everything we talked aboutin his draft profile coming to fruition and
just like play after play where you'rejust like, why are you throwing this

(01:07:50):
ball? Why? Why? Likewhy are you trying to do this big
forty fifty yard play. You're playinga Jets team but doesn't have a quarterback,
Like, you don't need to scoreforty points against them, You just
need to have a good drive andnot give away points. Like we're talking
three picks by the same guy,the safety who's over the top. That

(01:08:15):
means that Josh Allen just isn't straightup looking, he's not looking off the
safety and he's not reading the defenseat all. He's just throwing a ball
up thinking, oh, it's gonnabe so cool when I get this forty
yard bomb, and it's watching aguy just close in on it that he
just missed. And if that's theoffense that Josh Allen plays and I don't
think that's what's gonna happen. Butif this is kind of what we're gonna

(01:08:39):
see a little bit more of aParis Josh Allen like we saw before Brian
Dable worked with him and developed him. I don't know where the Bills look
because the run defense looks soft. You know, their running game is very
average and teams are just keying inon Stefon Diggs. That's what happens.
And if that's what's gonna keep happeningand Josh Owen's head turnover the ball,

(01:09:01):
this Bill's team is in trouble.I don't again, they're talented enough,
they're gonna make the playoffs, butI mean, Daltons are playing the way
they are. You're already lost indivisional game, and you know you're gonna
have to play the Jets again, who you've typically matched up four against.
And same thing with the Patriots.I'm not gonna I'm after this week.

(01:09:21):
I'm not picking them to really bea favorite in the AFC right now.
They gotta figure some stuff out withtheir team. And it was an embarrassing
loss for a team that had everythinggoing for him pretty much through most three
quarters of the game, so there'sreally no excuse for the loss. Yeah,
I'm with you. I think youkind of alluded to this season,

(01:09:43):
like I think this maybe speaks tothe impact of coaching in the NFL,
Like Josh Allen was developed so wellby Brian Dable, and the last few
years it's been like he's gone backto this quarterback at times where it's just
he makes the dumb decisions he madewhen he was at Wyoming that we listed
when the draft came around. Andyou know, I wanted to think that
the end of last year was maybethe injury because he started off the year

(01:10:03):
hot, but maybe it's a littlebit more than just the injury. So
I think there's also something to takea note with the way the league is
playing defense. You know that we'veseen this when as Bengals fans against Joe
Burrow, and I think Chiefs fanshave seen this too. Teams are I
think ESPN's Brook priorite a story aboutthis today or yesterday or something, So

(01:10:24):
let's go check it out. Butthey're running like Cover three and Cover four.
They're trying to stop the deep pass. They are making these talented quarterbacks
dink and dunk on these drives andsustain these long drives. And if you're
Josh Allen and you keep on takingthese shots down field, you're gonna be
putting the ball in more danger. So it's it's not just that maybe Brian

(01:10:44):
Dable was left and he's not developing, but also the defenses have changed to
make it like, hey, youcan't sustain a fifteen play drive and score
touchdown. You're you're the guy whoonly makes the deep throws. So if
you want to be successful, youhave to just dink and dunk and take
with the defense gives you. Andit's you have to be patient and just
do it. And it's tough.I get it, because mistakes happen and
you can't be perfect. But youknow, I saw sat today that the

(01:11:08):
person who threw for the most passesof past fifteen yards was two h and
two. Is not a guy whowas the strongest arm. He just takes
what the defense gives him. AndI think a lot of time the defense
does give him that because a hisplayers are faster and they get behind the
defense, and b maybe they underestimatehis ability to throw deep. So I'm
with you. I think Josh Allenneeds to kind of change what he's what

(01:11:28):
he's doing in terms of taking thecheck downs, taking what's open for the
Bills to get to where they wantto be. It's still all the amount
of time to get there. BobMiller is going to come off the ir
soon and they'll have plenty of talentto do it, but just some kind
of excess and those things there thatthey might need to figure out. All
right, So that is our recapof week one. We apologize that when
we try to go in depth withthese teams, you know, we have

(01:11:50):
we have an hour and a half, you know, to go over thirty
two teams, and not enough teamssuck yet where we can just say,
hey, we don't have much tosay. So that's what happens. We're
gonna go to week two now withour picks. We actually have a decent
Thurst Night football game sees, atleast based on last year. These are
two playoff teams, Minnesota Vikings atthe Philadelphia Eagles. Eagles are every by

(01:12:11):
seven. Give me the Eagles towin, but I take in the Vikings
with the points. I mean, this is just I feel like, you
know, this is overreaction week. You know a lot of gamblers will talk
about this where people freak out afterweek one and just start like throwing lines
out there, but don't necessarily.Minnesota had a bad loss the Bucks one

(01:12:35):
hundred percent. I agree with thattheir defense is not good, but I
mean Kirk Cousins and the Vikings haveenough offensive fire that hopefully. You know,
a line of seven I think isa little high. You said it
was five, five and a half, I'd go, sure, Well you're
telling me the line is just awhole touchdown. I'm gonna I'm gonna pick

(01:13:00):
the Vikings of the points because Ithink they can play it within a touchdown.
I'm with you. I think theoverreaction is going to get some people
this week. In terms of thespreads, I'm going Vikings against the spread.
Here. Eagles to win out right, but the Vikings to win against
the spread. You know, theiroffense is still high powered. The Eagles
just came off a physical game againstthe Patriots. You know, like you

(01:13:24):
said, if it was five anda half, six, maybe I'd change
my mind, but right now atseven and we're gonna go with it.
So I'm gonna go Vikings against thespread Eagles to win. All right,
Sunday afternoon, we have the Seahawksat the Detroit Lions. The Lions are
favored by five points. Important tonote sees that the Seahawks tackles are not
healthy. I think Abraham Lucas wasjust placed on the ir and Charles Cross

(01:13:46):
probably won't play, So that's probablywhy the line lies where it does.
Yeah, with that information, andI would say five points again will be
like kind of an overreaction based offthis Chiefs win. Well. Lies are
a good football team, but they'renot elite, and these Dan Campbell teams
are shown that they can lose closegames and kind of teams back in.

(01:14:10):
But that being said, I'm goingfor the Lions to win, especially at
home. This is going to beone of the biggest home openers for them
and probably ten again, probably twentyyears honestly since the Matt Stafford and Dominican
Sudas where you know they start offfive and zero things like that. I
mean, they're having I think ChaunceyGardner Johnson is having them up wear these

(01:14:32):
scheme masks, these blue sy BassHe posted online and they sold out in
like ten minutes on Amazon So thatDetroit crowd is going to be crazy this
week, like absolutely insane, andyou're gonna talk about like, I know,
Detroit's not known for having this homefield advantage, but we're talking about

(01:14:53):
a fan base who's been start witha team with any talent for so long
that they are they are fucking hypedlike and they're gonna go in and it's
the Lions don't like give up abunch of early points of Seahawks. This
crowd is going to be a hugefactor in this game, and the Seahawks
are having to travel from the WestCoast to go to this hostile team.

(01:15:13):
My only worry is that the Lionsbreath their press clubbings think they beat the
super World champions and you know thatgoes from there. But Dan Campbell seems
like a guy who isn't gonna letthat happen. I think the Lions win
this game. I think we'll bothtackles out for the Seahawks. That's getting
hard. Even though the Lions passedrush just an eleaf but it looked decently
good against Pat Mahomes last week, and I'm gonna give it to him.

(01:15:38):
I think I think the Lions willwinning cover. With all that information we've
got, I'm going Lions to win, but I'm gonna take Seahawks against the
spread. The reason being I thinkthe Seahawks were really kind of affected by
a mcveigh's scheme, with all offseasonthe scheme for it, and with Aaron
Donald blowing things up. I youknow, a Hudginson looked really good against

(01:15:59):
the Chiefs. He's just not AaronDonald. So I want to see if
this Lion's defense can hold up againagainst Seahawks, who have way better weapons,
and see if Geno Smith is back. I'm gonna go with the safe
thing here. I think Lions wentby about a field goal, So Lions
Seahawks against the spread. Next oneup, we have the Los Angeles Chargers
traveling to take on the Tennessee Titans. The Chargers are favored by three points

(01:16:21):
on the road season. Chargers shouldwin and cover this game. If they
don't, I'm I'm really concerned again. Get it's a road game, That's
that's one of the things I'm mostconcerned with. But it's Titans not look
good. They are not a goodfootball team. They are average at best.

(01:16:42):
The Chargers have a much better roster, and they have a much better
quarterback, which means more in themodern rap bel than anything. Titans are
only gonna win this game if DerrickHenry literally just goes off and controls the
ball, and that doesn't happen earlyin the season usually the Titans offense,
and there's nobody I saw last weekto believe that, so Chargers should winning
cover this one right there. They'regonna do is Chargers are gonna do something

(01:17:05):
that like one of my favorite collegeanimal or college animal college college football analysts,
Josh Pate, says, they're likewounded animal mode here. They just
lost a tough game to the Dolphins. They're like a bunch of these other
oh and one teams in the FC. You don't want to go down to
two. So I think they're gonnago on the road and win and cover.
They're gonna take care of business.Justin Herbert's gonna do his thing,
and the Titans just don't have thatfirepowered Ryan Tannehill isn't that great of a

(01:17:28):
quarterback to keep up. So Ithink the Chargers go on the road and
take care of business. Next up, we have the Kansas City Chiefs at
the Jacksonville Jaguars. We all rememberthe Latin the AFC Divisional round game last
year. That was a lot offun. Chiefs are favored by three and
a half on the road. Ithink that's fair. I'm gonna go the

(01:17:48):
Chiefs to winning cover here. Ithink the Chiefs are in a different class
than the Jaguars are. I thinkJargor Lawrence has definitely taken some steps forward,
and I think there were some definitelysome questions about the Chiefs from last
week. But they have Chris Jonesback. Travis Kelsey, I believe,
should be back in this game. And you know, Jaguars just played a

(01:18:09):
really close game against the Colts teamthat isn't that great, And I get
the divisional game, but I justI think the Chiefs are and Pat Mahomes
are better, and I gotta thinkthat, you know, three and a
half points right over that field goalmargin, I think they can win by
four points. I do believe thatpretty well. So Chiefs to win and
cover. Yeah, extra time toprepare for this one with Andy Reid.

(01:18:30):
I'll take that any day. PatrickMahomes is back, I think gonna if
Travis Kelsey plays Travis Patrick Mahomesey backto just dominating. He just won't have
received to rely on the receivers asmuch. That's will be the difference.
As you mentioned, Chris Jones isback Jacksonville. I think we'll play him
close for most of the game.I think the Chiefs might might win by
by a touchdown in the end.Next up, we have the Green Bay

(01:18:51):
Packers at the Atlanta Falcons. ThePackers are currently favored by one point on
the road. Yeah, I'm gonnago with Kristal winning cover, mostly because
I just I don't trust this Falconsteam. I don't trust their offense,
and I mean their defense played better. But I think that you know,

(01:19:13):
again, the Packers are kind ofset up for success against another middling team.
They have to lead offensive line thatrole players on defense, and they
have a strong run game. Everythingthat is a quarterbacks young quarterbacks best friend.
I think it'll be close, butI mean I think they'll be able
to beat to Land on the roadand it's pretty much a pick ums.
Yeah, give me Packers the wyncover. I'll go Falcons in this one.

(01:19:38):
I think just having the home gamewill be good. Also, I
just I don't want to overreact tothe Packers Week one performance quite yet,
they have a talented roster. Iwant to see more of Jordan Love and
you know a lot of his passingguards came from wide open receivers and broken
coverage. Let's see if a Falconsdefense which is better than the Bears.
Which never thought i'd say those words. If you've, you know, growing
up with the Bears having Braner Lackerand Peanuts Hillman and all the like,

(01:20:00):
I never thought I'd say the Falcon'sdefense is better than them. But you
know, let's let's see what theydo on the road again. Second straight
road game for them against a betterdefense and a better offensive line than the
Bears have. I'm not a bigfan of Arthur Smith, but I think
if they run the ball and takecare of it, things could be different
than what the Bears did to thePackers. So I'll take the Falcons defend
their home turf win his home underdogs, all right. Next one up,

(01:20:24):
we have the Baltimore Ravens at theCincinnati Bengals sees. The Bengals are currently
favored by three and a half points. I'm gonna go with the Bengals to
win and cover three and a half. I wish it was close, you
know, I wish it was three. But again that's within the margin of
araelf Where I think a big partof this is two things. One,

(01:20:46):
I think the Bengals offense will muchbetter obviously just by nature of the weather
not being as horrible as it was. Just check the forecast before this.
It should be good to be yeah, post we see a couple of clouds
in the sky, love of Godthrough Cleveland weather patterns. Why I don't

(01:21:08):
go there for but I think theBengals will automatically play better. They played
well historically against the Ravens, andthe Ravens just got the crap beat out
of them when it comes to injuries, and they obviously won the game and
won against the Texas pretty handle. We've but man, talk about some you
know, injuries just they catch youafter one week. I mean, we

(01:21:30):
got two guys on offensive line thatmight not play. We've got their you
know, Marlon Humphreys, their topcorner and one of the better corners in
the NFL, may not play, you know, and if he does,
it's not gonna be a hundred percent. Marcus Williams is probably out. JK
Dobbins just went down. You know, that's a lot to recover from.
You know, in one week,it's a lot to figure out who's gonna
start, who's gonna play against. The Bengals team that knock on Wood,

(01:21:53):
you know, came out relatively unscathedcompared to some teams in the league.
Obviously, they didn't really do muchto to warrant taking much of a risk
of any kind, and they kindof pulled out in the fourth quarter.
They're coming in a better condition thanthe Ravens are, and they're a team
again that's own one. It's theirhome opener. You know, everyone is

(01:22:14):
pretty pissed about what happened last week, and I think the offense is able
to show up and I think thedefense will be able to do some things
against hobbled off the Ravens. Yeah, I'm going to Bengals to win,
to cover as well. As Imentioned before, their teams, the more
you lose, the more you getdesperate. Yes, you know, everyone
else kind of lost on the topof the a FC, but like you're

(01:22:35):
gonna want to have this one.You don't want to get down to OZ
and two if you're the Bengal, especially having a division loss to the Ravens.
Ravens are banged up. I thinkthe Bengals offense, as you said,
will be more efficient. That isthe name of the game there.
That defense has historically done well againstLamar Jackson. I imaged to see how
this new offense will operate for theRavens as I still don't think we've got
a full picture in Week one,but I don't think the Bengals to win

(01:22:58):
to cover. Again, not tryingto overreact to one here and just taking
what we think we know about theseteams until they really prove it this season,
and I think the Bengals we allexpect to still be a good team
and to be able to defend theirhome turf. Next one up, we
have these Chicago Bears at the TampaBay Buccaneers. Obviously rough start to through
the Bears to their season. Buccaneersgot a surprise win and now the Buccaneers

(01:23:19):
were favored by two and a halfpoints. Give me the Buccaneers to winning
cover. I never thought I'd saythat this season, but yeah, the
Bears look horrible and i'd get,you know, again a reaction week,
but shit, I mean, ifthey have broken coverages, like again,
it's a packed Mike Evans and myfancy team, I have another great day,

(01:23:41):
so I foresee that happening. Bakerloves that just toss it, you
know, launch it down the fieldto a big receiver. You know,
it's one of his Cleveland specials.Doesn't always work out, but I mean
he can roll out of the pocketand chuck it downfield a couple of times
to get them in this game. And I mean Justin Fields I'm hoping puts
up a better showing. And itseems like I'm hoping this doesn't have to

(01:24:02):
be like last year, where itwas Justin Fields is putting up like four
hundred and fifty yards of all purposeoffense almost five hundred, and they're still
losing games because the team's so bad. But it's it's starting to look like
that's going to be the Bears wesee again this year, and I'm just
hoping Justin Fields stays healthy. Yeah. I feel similarly there. I have
the same pick. I have Buccaneerswinning and covering. I think this is

(01:24:26):
more about the context of things. You're right, Like, I think the
Bears are still like they are lastyear. The offensive line is struggling,
Tevin Jenkins is still out. Darnellwrites a rookie at right tackle who was
drafted a little bit early for mytaste, if remember from the draft show.
But that's that's okay, and youknow the defense is still you know,
it's like I said, struggling TampaBay. You know, Baker Mayfield.
We both kind of sat here andwe're like, why is Cleveland giving

(01:24:48):
up on him? It? Youknow, it makes no sense. He
was injured this year, goes toCarolina. Carolina does not in a position
to have a quarterback really come inand be a star or even be successful
right now with how bad the offensiveline is. We saw Bryce young strokele
and his opener, and he's numberone overall pick, just like Baker was.
Then Baker goes through the rams andhas a really good time with Sean
McVay. You know, like,I think he could be a decent quarterback.

(01:25:11):
He's never gonna be great, hecan be a decent quarterback in this
league, especially when you have MikeEvans and Chris Godwins. So I'm gonna
take the Buccaneers to winning cover basedon all of that. Now, you're
right, what couldn't make this pickwrong. Is just Justin Field's going nuclear
and just running the ball, throwingthe ball over the field, But Luke
gets either offensive coordinator really kind ofshowed that he wasn't like gonna let Justin

(01:25:32):
Fields run as much and wasn't gonnado things to make him dynamic. And
also, if you're on Twitter, there's a big conspiracy out there that Chase
Claypool was quiet quitting right now.So I don't think it's gonna happen.
But Buccaneers winning cover all right,Las Vegas Raiders at the Buffalo Bills is
the next one up cease. Earlierin the week, this was the line

(01:25:54):
was nine and a half. I'mjust double checking. Yes, it's still
nine and a half in favor ofBuffalo at home. Bills are gonna win.
That's an easy one, man. That's give me the Bills to cover
it. I mean again, Idon't want to overreact. The The Raiders

(01:26:16):
team sucks, especially their defense. It's bad. And this is the kind
of defense is so bad. JoshAllen can probably get with some of the
stupid shit he's gonna throw, Sothere's not too much more to it than
I know. The Bills have alot more talent than the Raiders. They
Raiders look better, but ultimately theBills as bad as they looked at times

(01:26:38):
as they just look sloppy. Theydon't look like they have no talent,
just looks like they just kind ofjust didn't care. They thought Aaron Rodgers
went down, they thought they hadthe game of the bag, and then
Josh Hollen just gotta turned over theball until they were out of it.
So I'll pick the Bills to winand cover. I'm staying away from this
line right now, but it's gonnabe that high. If it was if

(01:26:59):
it was eleven, I take itand we have no wall. But I
mean, how I don't expect theRaiders to get that many points, So
you know, give me the Billswill win and cover. I with you,
definitely not betting on this one.But my pick is the Bills to
win and the Raiders with the pointshere because it's a big spread for a
team, especially just lost, andit's coming off a short week. I
know they're going home and have hopefullyadvantage. But I think the Raiders are

(01:27:23):
bad. But we've seen bad teamscover spreads like this a lot. You
know, the Bills went by atouchdown and you know, maybe maybe have
control of the game the whole way, but they went by touchdowns, so
that's how it goes. Greater stillhave playmakers, we'll see Jacoby Myers and
and DeVante Adams may or may notplay. That could definitely affect how things
go here. But for the timebeing, I'll take the points again,
not trying to overreact a weak onetoo much. I think the Bills are

(01:27:45):
a much better team, but nineand a half some big spread. The
last of the one pm Eastern gamessees the Indianapolis Colts at the Houston Texans.
It is a divisional matchup. Itis CJ. Strout versus Anthony Richardson,
two rookie quarterbacks, and the Coltsare favored by one point on the
road. I mean, Colts away and cover. Houston's roster just looks

(01:28:08):
bad. I think Bryce Young willor n Bryce Young c J. Stroud
will have a better game this weekthan he get against the Ravens. But
I liked what I saw a lotof Anthony Richardson. I liked how they
used his athleticism. I think thatwould be a big key in this game
as well. And I think theColts eke out a win against Houston.

(01:28:29):
I did too Colts to win andcover on the road here. This is
a lot because of Anthony Richardson's abilityto run the ball, and also the
Colts defense is just a little bitmore advanced than the Texans. Texas stuff
a lot of young developing players.I think they can get the win and
cover on the road. Sunday eveninggames now sees we have the New York
Giants at the Arizona Cardinals. TheGiants are favored by five points. Yep,

(01:28:51):
Giants. I think bounce back ina big way in this one.
I think they'll win and cover.You know, it's a road game out
to Arizona, which kind of sucks, But I mean, I think they
have more talent and more importantly,I think they have much better coaching that
will help them win this game prettyhandily. Yeah, Jonathan Gannon could try
to get everyone pumped up by askingif they're taking the bus or whatever.

(01:29:12):
It's not gonna work. So I'mgonna take Giants to cover. I think
actually it's not five and a half. I don't care if taken Giants to
cover. I'm picking against the Cardinalsa lot this year. They have some
some okay players, but you couldprobably count them on less than one hand
if you need it to. SoGiants need to bounce back game again.
Another team that made the playoffs thelast week one wants to bounce back.
This perfect opportunity to do so.San Francisco forty nine Ers at the Los

(01:29:35):
Angeles Rams Seas. The forty nineErs are favored by eight points on the
road. I'm gonna go forty andIers to win this game. I'm gonna
go the Rams to cover, though, I mean eight points. You know,
anything outside touchdown against the forty Niners, team that traditionally isn't until high
scoring affair. You know, theyplayed really well against the Steers obviously,

(01:29:58):
but the Rams played really well againstthe Seahaw and Sean McVay skiingwell. And
this is the two teams that knoweach other and traditionally play close games.
So I mean eight points saying you'regonna win by more in a touchdown,
especially if how Shanahan just goes kindof more conservative or goes I want to
control possession and just runs the clockdown. I mean, that could very
well happen with these teams, andor Sean mcvah can Sean mcvah can get

(01:30:20):
it within one possession, like,I totally believe that. So give me
the forty Niners to win, butI gotta take the points to the Rams.
Same pick for me forty Nash towin. Give me the points with
the Rams. Here. Forty nine, as you mentioned, not a team
that's gonna blow out a lot ofteams usually. I mean it did week
one, but not usually. That'show they operate. They're gonna run the
ball and take advantage of that. And the Rams, you know they're prepared

(01:30:42):
for the forty nine ers. Ithink Sean McVay is ready to get back
to competing in this division, soI'll think the Rams. It looks like
Matt Stafford is back, so Ithink the Rams gets the points. The
New York Jets at the Dallas Cowboysis up the next. It was supposed
to be, I think the biggame of the week with the Cowboy versus
Aaron Rodgers and all the history that'sbeen had there. But now it's a

(01:31:04):
nine point spread for the Cowboys. He's I think that's fair. I'll go
to the Cowboys to winn and cover. Here, the Cowboys looked really good.
The only thing that worries me aboutthis is the Jets defense is really
good. Like people aren't gonna hangLike Cowboys aren't gonna hang forty points of
this team, you know, Ithink they'll hang probably closer to probably,

(01:31:26):
you know, twenty eight to thirtyone points, you know, right there.
I think it's the sweet spot Dallasneeds to be at now. Well,
the Jets, especially against Micah Parsonsand that Cowboys defense, especially with
a questionable offensive line Zach Wilson starting. I mean, I don't see a
world where they score more than thanfourteen to seventeen points. So that being
said that that's enough to cover thatkind of twenty eight for the Cowboys.

(01:31:49):
So I'm gonna go to the Cowboysto winn and cover some big spreads early
on. And the Jets will surprisesome people at times because they don't really
have as much of a choice ofwinning. But it is an energized team
at least so far. I thinkRobert Salo is going to have the team
play hard and be excited about beingthere every week. And he's a defensive
coach, and that defense is goingto continue to break it, bring it,

(01:32:10):
and the offense is gonna play kindof a you know, strong heavy
run game, control the game andkeep them in it for a long time
into the fourth quarter and see whathappens. Yeah, I'm going Cowboys to
win and cover. This line wouldbe different if Aaron Rodgers is here,
So I don't know what the pickwould be. But if we saw what
the Cowboys defensive line did to theGiants, imagine what it's going to do

(01:32:32):
to the Jets. The Giants mightbe worse than the Jets, but either
way, I mean Zach Wilson andthe Jets, that pressure is going to
mean more getting to him than itwould maybe getting to Aaron Rodgers, who's
used to dealing with a lot ofpressure. So I'm going to get Cowboys
to want to cover. Yeah theydidn't not Gon score forty, but that
defense can sure maybe get a picksix or two. And Zach Wilson may
not be seeing ghosts, whatever's worsethan ghost he might be seeing with this

(01:32:53):
defense coming at him. So we'llsee what happens there. Washington commanders at
the Denver Bronco The Broncos are favoredby three and a half point sees talk
about a game to not put onyour television. Woof give me three and

(01:33:15):
a half. Yep, give methe Broncos to win because it's at Mile
High. Give me the Commanders flittingat Commanders the points. I mean,
it's just it's a gross game.Broncos still have a good defense. Is
a hard place to still play.Where is Sam? Howad is good?

(01:33:35):
Shit is he not? I mean, I think the Commanders will play it
very close. I just if itwas it's honestly the I want the line
to be lower because I would beton it. But I just mile High
is the place, and I thinkthe Broncos if Russell Wilson place like he
did last week, we'll be ina place where that they'll be able to

(01:33:57):
win it in a close one.Yeah, I'm going Broncos to win and
cover. Much like last week withthe Broncos game. I just basically said
about these teams steak and I'm takingthe Raiders because I don't know. I
thought they had something on the Broncos. They have one seventh straight this week.
I'm just going with the Broncos. You go, I don't know,
I just both these teams steak.I think Broncos will defend their home turf.

(01:34:18):
I want to see Sam how proveit. Yes, Russell Wilson,
I'm not really sure on, butI'll go to win by more than a
field goal. Maybe. Sean Payton'saggressiveness comes back a little bit this week
as it started two in Week one. All Right, the Sunday night football
game seas, we have the MiamiDolphins at the New England Patriots. The
Dolphins are favored by three on theroad. Jimmy, give me twoa no

(01:34:43):
two and on it's full live.Awhile, after what I just saw gets
the Chargers, I get to pickthe Dolphins to win and cover three points.
I mean, I think this isgoing to be another one where Twah
puts up some points. And I'mmentioning to see how Tua goes against Phil
Belichick. And you know, becausehe is a good guy. Defense look
much better for New England, andI think somebody he can scheme as well

(01:35:05):
as Mike Dano can scheme offense.I know Bill Belichick can scheme defense,
so we'll see there. I justdon't see Mac Jones and offense be able
to do much against the Dolphins team. I'm with the Dolphins to win and
cover. A lot of this isbecause of two. Uh, He's played
well against Patriots in his career.I think Bill Welichick will scheme him maybe
better than he has in the pastnow that he knows what he's getting against

(01:35:27):
two. And this this fast widereceiver room for the Dolphins, but just
a more talented team from top tobottom. So I'm gonna get Dolphins to
win to cover on the road.Monday Night Football. We have two games
on Monday Night this week. See, so this will be happening for this
week and also for a week three. So let me, maken make it
a little bit more interesting for us. We have the New Orleans Saints at
the Carolina Panthers. The Saints arefor everybody three on the road. Yeah,

(01:35:49):
give me the Saints to win andcover. I mean it's a team
that that is structured and has,you know, kind of continually and knows
how to play together, and alot as young and just did not show
anything in Week one to make mebelieve they are going to beat the Saints.
Yep, same thing for me,Saints to win and cover. I
think the offensive line for the Panthersis the major issue here. I think

(01:36:11):
the Saints defense can take advantage ofthat and get to win on the road.
The last game of the week seatswe have the Cleveland Browns at the
Pittsburgh Steelers, and this one theBrowns are favored by two and a half
on the road. It's surprising linehonestly, I think people are working the

(01:36:32):
Steelers versus Browns. You want totalk about teams, you know, Browns
don't do well against the Steelers traditional. I think that's what's playing a lot
into this. I think de SeanWatson still didn't play well, at least
the rain. Nobody played well.I mean joke on the best quarterback game
and looking awful. So it's hardto really say Deshaun Watson didn't look good

(01:36:55):
and make that mean something. ButI'm not convinced to Sean Watson's gonna step
forward. I mean, sure hecan use his feet, he could do
that last year too. It's moreabout can he make the pass is what
he needs to I don't know, but I mean that that defense of the
Browns comes to play like they didlast week. I think the Steelers struggle

(01:37:16):
just like they did against the fortynine ers. I think Nick Chubb and
we'll be able to do enough towin this game. So I'm going with
the Browns to win and cover.I'm going with the Steelers at home again.
This is more about me telling myselfnot to freak out about the Week
one results. I still have mydoubts about the Browns, and that's being

(01:37:36):
Deshaun Watson mainly, and maybe thatthe defense is really going to be as
good as they looked in Week one. But also the Steelers. I thought
we, you know, we'd havethe same team, you know, Mike
Tomlin going nine and eight again andfiguring things out. Maybe Katy Pickett takes
a small step forward, and Idon't want to judge them totally for losing
so bad to a good team likethe forty nine Ers. As you mentioned,
the Browns struggle with the Steelers historically. I think the US going at

(01:38:00):
home I took. I took Steelersto win out right. I took the
Steelers to win with the with thepoints here, even when the points were
one and a half, I'll takeit. I don't know if that's going
to end up happening, but Iyet, this is me just telling myself.
Every every year, I feel likeme and everyone else get in trouble
because we try to like analyze weekone too much when it's just it's it's

(01:38:21):
a different ball game. So I'mgonna go Steelers here could easily so I
see it going the other way though, But just be careful out there for
anyone gambling this weekend, it's it'sa tough week to gamble. A week
two, you gotta really figure somethings out. Seeze. Any final thoughts
for the week before we head off, Nah, I They'm excited for the
Bengals home opener, and I'm excitedto hopefully make some money option overreactions on

(01:38:45):
the expending lines. Yes, wewill definitely try to do that my turner
mind everyone, We'll be back nextweek to recap week two, to make
picks for a week three talk aboutall the news going on in the NFL.
