David Mordechai Packouz, born on February 17, 1982, is a former American arms dealer, musician, and inventor. He partnered with Efraim Diveroli in 2005 to establish AEY Inc., which secured numerous contracts, including a $300 million deal with the U.S. government in 2007. This contract, aimed at supplying the Afghan Army, faced controversy as the ammunition originated from China, violating the contract terms. Packouz played a role in covering up this information. Following legal consequences, he was sentenced to seven months of house arrest for conspiracy to defraud the United States. Despite this, Packouz later turned his focus to music technology, inventing the BeatBuddy, a guitar pedal drum machine. He is currently the CEO of Singular Sound, a music technology company. In 2016, Singular Sound collaborated with the non-profit organization Guitars Over Guns to provide BeatBuddy equipment to underprivileged youth. Packouz, a central figure in the 2016 film War Dogs, has a daughter named Amabelle Jane, born in 2007. This episode is brought to you by Authors Unite. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
