(00:17):
Hey everyone, welcome to the Withering Effect episode 186,
live from the Withering Effect server.
Today's date is March 22nd, 2025and I am duds or duds versus
known to the rest of the interwebs.
And I'm Carl, you may know me asCarl rides.
Today we'll be covering all the announcements from Minecraft
Live for March 2025. Duds.
(00:39):
What did you think of the event overall?
So we have a whole page of notesand Carl has meticulously
written everything out. And I go to put in my notes, I
have OneNote, and it says this could have been an e-mail.
That's my. That's my OneNote for this
entire thing. Yeah, I saw that note and
(01:00):
thought he's got to add more than this.
And then now it just didn't update.
Yeah, I was like, Oh no, he really doesn't have anything to
say. This will be so.
So I missed Minecraft live live.So stop calling it.
Stop calling it live. It's not live anymore.
(01:21):
It's a pre recorded thing, whichis fine.
That is fine, there's nothing wrong with it.
But don't call it live. Yeah, it it.
That is a bit sad, I get. Yeah, I get they're tired of
constantly changing the name or whatever.
Change it one more time. Yeah, but why change it?
One more time. Why break the habit of a
lifetime? They've changed it like.
Four times. Why break the habit when it's
(01:43):
the one time you need to give into the habit?
Exactly. Exactly.
No, I want to preface this with we have the Spring of Life game
drop coming and I've liked just about everything in that drop.
I thought it was a great qualityof life game drop, not a lot of
(02:03):
gameplay being added to it. I said that's fine game drops
were not supposed to be gameplaythey were supposed to be just to
me quality of life updates like the the the bugs and the bees
update which is goes down as oneof my favorite updates cause of
how well it fixed Minecraft. So I come in late, see that
(02:28):
Minecraft live is up on YouTube and it's only like 25 minutes
long. I said, oh great, great.
There's no fluff in this. We don't have an hour and a half
of messing around to get to the 10 minutes of new stuff.
So I sit down. I, I pull up our notes page
because I'm going to make some notes as I watch it.
(02:50):
And then they start talking about spring to life update.
I'm like, OK, well, this is stuff we've talked about and all
that stuff. I'm not going to make notes on
it. So good and we get into our
first new thing and it's vibrantvisuals, which I go, OK, this is
just shaders, whatever. I mean that's cool and all I,
I've never played with shaders. I don't like shaders.
(03:13):
I think it, it dilutes the game.It makes everything look pretty
so you don't have to be as imaginative.
Whatever. Again, this is just personal
opinion. It's why I don't play with
shaders. But so I was like, OK, it's just
game shaders with a fancy name. I'm not going to make a note on
(03:33):
that. I didn't get to Yeah.
Then we get to the big new thing, and it's one thing, and
it's one thing that replaces something I fought for years to
use. And now that I finally accept
it, now there's this other new thing that's supposed to work
(03:53):
like it and that's it. It's like we already have this,
this this could have been an e-mail like this didn't even
deserve having a drop web page made for it.
Like it's not a lot. And I kind of I get drops were
supposed to be smaller updates, but I'm pretty sure I remember
(04:16):
them saying when we were switching to this new format,
we'd have a couple drops and then a big update and then a
couple drops. OK, it's.
So is she a rabbit? Yeah, I guess OK.
I mean, there's, there's no, there hasn't been any new
gameplay in Minecraft for me in two years.
(04:40):
It's it's making it extremely hard to want to play Minecraft.
OK, OK, so at the start. Bring in the positivity.
I'm going to try. At the start they went into
their little pixel art versions of themselves and they said what
(05:01):
we already know, which is that these two Minecraft lives a year
now, one in March it seems and one in like September, October.
But they had. Early spring, One late fall,
yeah. And then they had two calendars
on the screen. They had one for Minecraft Live,
which had the two little actually the same dots they use
on the locator bar on there. And one of them had Minecraft
(05:25):
Live with the two dots and the one of them had the game drops
with four dots on it. And they said these will be
drops of different sizes. So that to me says that we're
going to get smaller drops and bigger drops.
So maybe they're not as far awayfrom a couple of small ones and
(05:50):
a couple of big ones as you think they may be.
I've yet to see a bigger drop though.
That's true. That's that's that's my thing
and maybe it is coming and it's taking a little bit longer.
That's fine, but someone needs to say something.
Yes, I don't, I don't disagree with that.
So you. Don't have to show me anything,
(06:11):
just tell me it's being worked on.
Yeah, tell us like two of these are small and two of them are
big because they just said dropsof different sizes.
They didn't actually qualify that.
I don't care if the four drops are tiny, as long as they say,
hey, we have one bigger themed 1coming.
Yeah, that's so far into alpha right now.
(06:34):
We can't show you anything. I just need to know you're
working on something. Because we had what, bundles of
bravery? Then we had armored paws, then
we had garden awakens. Now we have spring to life, and
then we have ghastly summer. Yeah.
So that's obviously going to come out in summer.
(06:56):
I've I've not since they've started drops, I have not taken
advantage or explored a single drop.
I haven't even explored a trial chamber yet because I don't see
much purpose to seeing it in theway I play the game.
Yeah, you're less of a PVPPVE kind of player and more of a
(07:20):
sort of home body builder. Kind of player I I like I like
game mechanics and building blocks and I don't feel like I
mean, we yeah, we got white wood, but the I'm going to pull
a car a hill. White wood is not white wood.
It's pink wood, just like Blackstone is purple.
Disappointingly, is not wrong. Yeah.
(07:42):
But you know, I'll take what I can get.
Yeah. Yeah, so we have the spring to
life, which is your variants of cows, sheep and chickens.
Awesome designs variant I love. That they showed the actual
animals that they based them on as well.
Yes, I love that. That was amazing.
(08:03):
And the Firefly bushes are foundin swamps and rivers, so I don't
know if we knew that before. I did.
I like them. I just don't like the shape of
the quote UN quote Bush. Yeah, it's not.
And that's really it. It's not.
It's not like I hate it. It's just I did.
It could have been better. And I'm sure I'm going to find a
(08:23):
texture pack where the Bush shape is one that I like better
and I'll just use. That no doubt Vanilla Tweaks are
working on it already. For sure there it's really
nothing to complain about. It's like, OK, it could have
been better. The spawn eggs.
The spawn egg redesign. They look so cool because you
(08:44):
can actually tell what it is, Yeah.
Which like I said, I I liked everything in spring to life,
but it's not going to make me want to go play the game.
So, and obviously we have those playing mainly create these
days. We're always going to be behind
anyway, but yeah, so that's coming out March 25th, which is
(09:05):
not too long away from right. Now kind of that that's well, by
the time this episode, we know because we're live.
Right now, so audio version willgo out tomorrow.
So yeah, we're we're we're on time for a change with the news.
Yeah. So this is going out next week
or it's going to be released next week, tomorrow the spring,
(09:26):
the life update. Oh, sorry.
Yeah, you're right. Sorry, I'm pressing more.
Not everything's got to be aboutus.
It's all about us duds. Carl's pressing a lot of buttons
right now. He can't use his brain at the
same time. That's fine.
And then, as you say, we move tovibrant visuals.
Yep. Which will be done over a period
(09:49):
of time. Hey Carl, guess what?
My Audacity didn't start recording.
It's OK, we're using the video file you.
Perfect. Amazing look at.
Us do I need? Do I need to start hitting the
record button? Nope, you're fine.
OK, Don't worry about it. So I've got you covered.
(10:10):
I whiffed on that one. I had it up.
I did the sound check and everything and I guess when I
clicked I've. I've noticed lately some
software, if you like click on adifferent window and then click
a button back on that other window.
That click back doesn't registeron the button.
You have to like click and then click again, and I think that's
(10:30):
what happened. That's annoying, but don't you
worry, your producers got your back.
Yeah. So.
Vibrant. Back to the show.
Vibrant picture, Vibrant bridge,vibrant visuals.
Please get a name that doesn't have two VS in.
(10:51):
It will be done over a period oftime.
This will start in Bedrock in a few months.
Java is planned. It will run locally so you don't
have to have any special kind ofserver software for it, and it
will be backwards compatible with all worlds.
Now, I get what you're saying about texture packs, but I think
(11:16):
this is incredibly well done. Yeah, I'm not.
I'm not saying it's not. I'm just saying it's another new
thing that doesn't entice me. OK.
I I because I know bedrock people have been waiting for
this for forever and they deserve to finally have it and
it and it does look really if itif it doesn't kill the
(11:38):
performance of the computer. Yeah, we know shaders kill
performance. Yes, that's what I'm concerned
about mostly. Yeah.
So you know, I play Minecraft ona Mac, so this could be
interesting. Well here's the thing, I have a
relatively new PC except for thegraphics card, and I'm finding
(12:00):
in create I can't keep 100 frames anymore.
Yeah, neither card. So I even I'm struggling but
graphic card pricing still stupid ridiculous and I'm
spending more fun money on doingthings outside and working on
cars and stuff so. But like I say, I do love the
(12:23):
way it looks. The sun coming through the
leaves, the sun coming up from behind mountains, shadows on
blocks, reflections, light coming through windows, melons
kind of glistening in the sun, Spider and Endemann eyes
glowing. Lush caves look awesome.
The water is more dark and sort of immersive than than it was
(12:46):
before because of those lightingchanges.
But you are correct that this isprobably going to be.
I mean one of the actual images that they showed had a little
bit of text at the bottom that said recorded on a high end PC.
Oh, I didn't see that. So it was a little subtitle at
the bottom. That's going to be useless.
(13:08):
So although I love the way it looks and I think that it will
look amazing, I also think a lotof people are not going to be
able to take advantage of it anda lot of people are going to
turn it off because it is going to hit their FPS so, so hard.
(13:29):
But yeah, that's MO. Yang constantly complaints that
updates take so long because they have to make it for like
1000 devices. There's no way shaders are going
to be able to work for 1000 devices.
Yeah. So if it feels like a lot of
lost time, let's not forget theybedrock had a special.
(13:52):
Oh, an RTX thing? Yeah.
Yeah, they had coloured lightingand everything.
From what I can tell, this doesn't have that coloured
lighting ability. I didn't see it.
No. This is Yeah, Yeah.
So we'll see. We'll see.
But yeah, I'm not, I'm not goingto hold my breath that my
computer is going to be able to run this particularly well
(14:14):
without going down to 15 frames a second.
Yeah. So you know is that should we
run a bisect tad? Yeah, I was going to say it.
Before we continue with today's show, here's Jimbo to give us a
reminder of how you can get a discount on your own Minecraft
server from Bisect Hosting. You can get a discount on your
(14:37):
own Minecraft server through ourpartnership with Bisect Hosting,
offering our community 25% off any game server for the first
month. This is for new clients only.
Visit bisecthosting.com/TWE and use the code TWE at checkout to
receive the discount. OK, so the final drop is Ghastly
(15:03):
Summer, which is going to give us pet gas pets.
I love this, it's going to be great.
Let's let's start with the locate the the locator bar
because that's that's been out for a little bit.
We've seen that I love the idea of the locator bar.
(15:26):
I do not like the implementation.
Same, Yeah. Getting rid of the XP bar seems
dumb. I don't think we need the bar
necessarily, but I think we needthe number still.
So I saw a screenshot where someone did a Photoshop and they
(15:47):
put both bars on top of each other.
It took nothing away from the screen.
Yep, that's true. As someone who played a lot of
shooting games, I would like to mention that on the top of the
screen, a lot of the times there's a compass with location
(16:07):
waypoints up there. It would make a lot of sense to
move that bar up there, especially for like the shooting
people. Like it would come naturally to
have it up there. That's true.
That's true. So.
There's that. And that's really my biggest
complaint is that it gets rid ofthe XP bar, especially because
how many random times have we walked up to an anvil, tried to
(16:30):
rename something, and then realized, oh, I don't have XP.
Now we have a. Now we have a bar that's
covering it up. Yeah, and that's with us having
that bar. We still didn't notice.
Right. But.
So yeah. I personally think that I don't
like the dots. I think they should be player
(16:53):
heads. I agree.
The only thing I was thinking of, so we haven't heard about
waypoints yet and I was OK with the dots as long as we could
have waypoints. But now that you say that we we
could do player heads and then the waypoints, whether it be
like a banner, how you would do on a map.
(17:15):
If we did that, the color of thebanner could be the color of the
dot. Yep.
I just think, I just think that makes more sense to have yeah,
them actually player heads rather than just these random
dots and. I I love the idea.
It can be done. Yeah, it can be done.
(17:35):
Because you hit the tab screen and there's the player.
Heads are there, yeah, so. So I guess.
These dots colours are randomly allocated I would assume.
Which I don't like. Yeah, so I think there's a way
to make it better. Your idea is to put it in a
different location, like to shoot a games.
(17:57):
My idea is to keep the XP numberon the screen.
We don't necessarily need the bar itself, but keep at least
the number above the locator barand change the dots to player
heads. That's what I would do to
improve it. But I like the idea of it.
I like the idea of it. I think you've got to keep the
(18:19):
XP bar because the higher XP youget, the harder or the longer it
takes to move up to the next one.
And that bar is a good referenceof how much longer you've got to
be there. Because when I go to enchant
stuff, I don't go to just hit 30levels and go enchant.
I go and I go to 39 or 40 levelsso I can do a couple of enchants
(18:39):
at one time. Yeah, that's fair.
That's fair. But though it and like if I drop
down to 29 and I'm just barely on 29, I'll go mine some cola
courts or something to get me back over.
Yeah. Yeah, but I'm sure there'll be
again a mod or a resource pack that will fix these things in
(19:01):
different ways. But as we were discussing before
the show this evening when Duds had to update his Minecraft
because the server updated, it'sa little bit difficult when you
have all these mods and data packs to keep all your ducks in
a row. Yep.
So yeah, the less of those the better.
(19:23):
I have two launchers. I have the vanilla Minecraft
launcher and then I have a launcher for when we play
create. And I know that the create
launcher can do multiple instances and can do all this
stuff, but I I still don't like it.
I like having the vanilla launcher to play the vanilla
game. The problem is I need a lot of
(19:45):
mods to play the vanilla game. Yeah.
It's true. This is true.
And so I have. My left side of my desktop is
covered with stuff. They're organized and put in
different spots for what it is, but the right side on my monitor
is my primary monitor for gamingand it has.
(20:06):
Five folders on it and that's it.
And those folders read 119 something mods, 120.1 mods, 121
mods, 121.4 mods 'cause I that'show I have to keep up with it.
Yeah, I have a very similar folder structure as well.
(20:28):
Yeah. So yeah, it's it's not the best.
No, and that's one of the reasonCreator Clash was stopped,
because I was constantly having to spend an hour setting up a
mods folder just to try out something that may not even be
worth it. Yeah, yeah.
(20:48):
It was too much. That was full time.
There's a difference, but. You'd put the, you'd put, you
know, you'd have more time to dothat and it'd be part of your
job. So yeah, it'd be a just a task
in your job. But when you do it for fun and a
hobby that it's, you know. Yeah.
But just on Create a Clash for asecond, we haven't forgotten
(21:10):
about Mending Minecraft. The votes for last episode are
still up. I intentionally made them last
longer because I knew we were doing this live show.
We wouldn't get to it this show.So it will be on the next show.
We haven't forgotten about it again, yes.
We're we're strictly focusing onMinecraft live for this show.
Yeah, yeah, just in case anyone was like, they forgot about
(21:32):
Minecraft, forgot about mending Minecraft again, we have.
It's fine. Mending Minecraft is my favorite
segment of this podcast, so we have not forgotten which is why.
He now runs it. Yeah, and just like you.
Have I remember like for months leading up to this, I was like,
Carl, can we do mending Minecraft now?
(21:53):
Can we do mending Minecraft now?And all the answers were no,
because we had other things to do.
Yeah, no, we have cubed. We have Minecraft live.
We can't do, I think. I think I tried bringing bending
Minecraft back last summer. Yeah, that did happen.
Yeah. But you know, it's back now.
(22:14):
Everyone's. Happy.
Yeah. So should we talk about the
balloon in the room? The the balloon in the room.
Love it, love it. Yes, the I kind of like this.
I don't hate it, I hope. They do this with other things
as well. Start with gas.
(22:36):
Yeah, so we have the dried gassed which will spawn in
Soulsand Valley near the what are they called?
The like bone things. Yeah, I want to call it a bone
structure, but it actually has. It has a name and we both don't
know what it is, so. No.
(22:57):
Enjoy that? So yeah, we'll have a little
dried gas. It wants water, which is weird
because gas aren't known for liking water, but you can put it
in water. It'll go through multiple
states, kind of like hatching anegg, whether that be a sniffer
egg or a turtle egg or somethinglike that.
There's no exterior parameters other than it needs to be
(23:20):
submerged in water, at least from what I can tell.
And it takes a long time. Yeah, it'll go through some
stages where it's a a grumpy ghast and then it'll go through
a I'm an OK gas and then I'm AI don't want to say happy gas, but
it's I'm a cheerful ghast. And then it hatches weirdly.
(23:45):
And then you, you, yeah, you geta, you get a gas link, little
baby gas. Very cool, very cool.
Love it, love it. So it's a balloon style mob and
it'll follow the player around until it gets bored.
A bit like a child. You mean a lot like an LA A?
Lot like an LA, yeah? And then you feed it snowballs.
(24:11):
Yep. Maybe that's why gas in the
Nether are angry. They want to eat snowballs, and
there's no snowballs in the Nether.
Yeah, that's why there's some law being written here.
Yeah, a bunch of snowballs and it'll turn into a happy guest,
Which it, it looks just like a guest, but with a :).
(24:32):
I wonder if it makes any different noises.
I didn't hear any noises watching the thing.
I didn't, yeah, I didn't tell whether there was, there was no
light screaming like normal gas,but I didn't hear any like happy
noises or anything. So yeah, maybe that's to be to
be confirmed on that. Yeah, and when you get the happy
(24:54):
gas, you can create a gas saddlewhich is 3 leather, 2 glass and
one wool. And I believe the wool will
determine the color. Yeah, of the actual saddle,
Yeah, Yep. Which is cool.
Then you can ride your gas around.
You can have four players on theGast.
They showed it off as if you could fly up to something, jump
(25:19):
off. Well, not jump off the Gast, but
unsaddle from the gas and place blocks.
Yeah, which I don't know how. Like is it steerable like if you
press like WASD or the arrow keys depending on how you got it
set up or you control the stock, like does that actually control
(25:39):
where the gas goes or is it justlike?
I'm assuming it does. They didn't say.
They didn't say. It could have been in the after
show. I didn't watch the after show.
Neither did I, I was I I was pretty disappointed in the the
normal show. I didn't want any more of the
after show. Although there was a lot of
gameplay in the after show, so they might have shown shown
(26:00):
that. Let us know in the comments,
guys. Engagement.
Thanks. Yeah.
The the the big thing I take outof that is we can craft gas
saddles before we can craft horse saddles.
Yeah, that's very why. Why MO Yang?
(26:21):
'Cause reasons. Yeah, reasons.
But yeah, the the block I was talking about was it's kind of
taking the place of scaffolding. It's like I, I just finally
started to play with scaffolding.
Now I have to have a ghast in mypocket.
It took us a long time to get him to accept scaffolding, guys.
(26:42):
Now I have to have a stupid ghost following me around.
I do like this though, I think it's a really cool.
It, it is, I'm, I'm fine with it.
It's great. There's nothing wrong with it.
It's just the fact that this wasthe only thing really new that
(27:03):
they showed in this saying that they had us waiting for for over
a month. It's like, oh, we're going to
hype it up for over a month and that's the what we got.
This could have been an e-mail. And the fact it's called ghastly
summer means it's probably that's mostly all we're getting.
Yeah. So that's.
(27:24):
Yeah, I was expecting at least three things in this.
Yeah. And we got, I guess if you want
to be pedantic, you could say wedid get free things.
We got a locator bar. We got a gasling, we got a
saddle and a happy guest. If you really stretch, yeah.
(27:47):
Well here's the thing. So the happy guest is going to
be used before you go to the endbecause getting one of these is
a lot easier than getting an Electra and a rocket farm set
up. That's true.
And all that stuff. So you're going to see these
definitely early game, but the second players get Electra and
(28:09):
stuff, they're not going to messwith this.
It's big, it's clunky, it's slow, so.
This is true. This is true.
They'll they'll use it in building when they're building
tall things or floating things for sure.
But other than that to move around the server, it's not.
And it feels like Moyan keeps getting stuck in this.
(28:29):
We have to do it before the in game cycle, like all the new
stuff have to come before in game progression.
Yeah, Dud sent me a message the other day saying I have a
feeling it's an end update. I really did like they gaslit me
so hard that this was going to be a good update.
(28:50):
What did I say to that? So like, don't tempt me like
that. Yeah, I shouldn't say this was a
good, this is a good update. It's just, again, I haven't had
an update that has felt like it was directed to my style of
gameplay in multiple years. So like, I got White Woods on
(29:11):
you. I got white wood.
I'm easily pleased, yeah. Ink.
Yeah, yeah. OK.
And yeah, that was it for Ghastly summer.
That will come out, I assume, insummer.
They they showed some of the Minecraft movie, some behind the
(29:31):
scenes stuff. I I like that it that it's not
hyping me up for the movie, but it definitely didn't bring it
down any of my books because we've had a couple previews
where after watching it, we're like, oh, this is going to be a
train wreck. Yes, where?
After watching this, I think youknow what, once you get into the
(29:52):
cinema and you're immersed. You turn your brain.
Off you turn your brain, off you're immersed in the film.
You forget about the fact that the sun came seems to be coming
from all directions based on theway the green screen is lit.
Yep. And all the kind of technical
stuff that we talked about in our Minecraft movie trailer
(30:14):
episode where we basically went through and went, these are all
the things wrong with this. But people going to watch it
won't care because I'm looking at it from a AV technical point
of view. Like it just looks wrong.
But when you're in the cinema and you've you turn your brain
off, you're immersed in the story.
(30:35):
I think this is going to be pretty good and I think this
film is going to do exceptionally well.
Yeah, I think Minecraft has too high of a fan base.
Even if this was a terrible movie, it would do well.
I am way more excited for this film after seeing this scene
that I was before I saw it. I don't think I'll ever be
(30:59):
excited for this movie, but I'm not dreading going and seeing
it. Yeah, the way they showed the
midpoint Village and it actuallylooks really cool with like the
square melons and the square potatoes.
I will. Say the movie quote UN quote
resource pack. It's growing on me.
Except for the villagers. The villagers.
(31:20):
Oh man. The villagers do look a bit
silly, but you know, like I say, when you're watching the film, I
think that's going to go to the back of your mind basically.
The Iron Golems look really cool.
Yep, I was kind of hoping the golem was going to pull a flower
out. Yeah, that's the only thing they
kind of missed. But again, I think they've done
(31:44):
it in in in that setting. I think all this works together
in a silo. It looks silly, it looks bad.
But as a, as a, as a collective,as a whole.
Yes. I think it.
You cannot, you cannot compare this to Minecraft the game.
(32:07):
Now. As bad as that sounds, because a
lot of movies who try to adapt agame and they go, well, we're
just kind of kind of use it for generalness and then we're going
to make our own thing. Those don't turn out good.
But I think this might be the one case where that's OK,
because Minecraft is very much asandbox and I.
(32:29):
Love that they talked to that Steve talked about, Jack Black
talked about like, you know, if you don't annoy them, they won't
annoy you and don't hurt the villagers or the golem security
will come after you and all the kind of little in things that
you kind of get if you play the game.
(32:49):
It's teaching you how to play Minecraft.
It's the ultimate tutorial. Yeah, yeah.
But he also had, like, a workingchicken cooker, which was really
cool. And he's like, do you know what
happens when chicken meets lava? It's and here's.
Here's the thing though, that chicken cooker does not work in
game. Yeah, that chicken cooker is
built incorrectly, but for a visual element of a movie it
(33:13):
works really well. Unless there's some as if it
dispenses the lava and then retracts it really quickly, then
yeah, it works. Which it doesn't.
Well, we, we don't know. I was watching closely.
I was like, is it actually goingto show how this works and it
didn't. To me it looked like they just
dumped lava on a chicken and then that was it, right?
(33:36):
That's what that's what I viewedbut if you go back and watch it,
it only shows the lava fall for a split second and they cut away
before showing it burning the chicken and then a cooked
chicken pops out so it it it could.
It could technically work, but as the way they're implying does
not work in the game, you would just burn the chicken drops.
(33:58):
Maybe it it's also for kind of like ratings wise, like if they
showed a chicken being burned, maybe the ratings authorities
might be like not PG anymore, you know?
For sure. You know.
But what they could have had wasthe the classic dispenser half
(34:20):
slab with the lava above it and had a baby chicken and it's just
sitting there doing its thing. And then it cuts back to the
kids and you could tell the chicken grew up because you hear
back. Exactly.
So everyone who plays the game knows what just happened.
Yeah, yeah, no, you're right. So yeah, that movie comes out
(34:43):
April 4th in the US and the UK anyway.
I don't know about other countries and I will go and see
it as soon as I can. Duds is reluctantly going to pay
$20 to watch it. I get it for free, so you know.
Yeah, yeah. But I'm I'm excited a little
(35:04):
bit. Not over.
I'm not like excited to go watcha film I actually want to watch.
But I'm more excited about this film than I was yesterday.
I don't think I'm gonna hate this movie.
I really don't. And there's been a lot of movies
lately. I've gone into the movie and go
this is utter garbage. Yeah, they spent 250 million to
(35:25):
make this. Yeah, and you would hope that
this movie is good because it's took them nine years from
announcing it to actually releasing it.
So yeah. So I was reading a thing where
supposedly Jack Black was not supposed to play Steve, he was
supposed to play a pig. Which to me would have been
(35:47):
hilarious. I would have loved that.
But supposedly Jack Black started getting so into
Minecraft that he could just kind of be Steve, which I don't.
Jack Black's not playing Steve. Jack Black's playing Jack Black
dressed as Steve. Jack Black in a blue T-shirt.
(36:08):
Yeah, which is fine if that's what you're going for.
But I, I, I can't, I I don't seeSteve in Jack Black.
He's still just Jack Black. Jack Jack Black plays Jack Black
in all films. Right.
That's kind of his thing. But Jack Black pig, a pig would
(36:28):
have been hilarious and I would have loved that with him
playing. Yeah, him playing Steve, I don't
know about. So far all I've seen him do is
derrate how to play Minecraft. So apparently they were playing
Minecraft like all the time. They were like, not filming.
Yeah, he has like hundreds of hours in Minecraft, which is
(36:48):
great. I love that he loves the game.
Yeah, I love that. I love an actor that like,
actually like, cares about the IP that he's in.
Yeah. So props to him for that, you
know? I I would love to see Jack
Plaque's Minecraft world. What does it look like?
Is he a good Minecraft player? Or is he building dirt huts?
(37:12):
Hey, Nope, good Minecraft players can build dirt huts.
I want to see yes. I I want to see functioning game
mechanics, yeah, but I don't care how great of a builder he
is because everyone builds in different ways.
But I want to see that Jack knows what's going on in
Minecraft. Yeah, yeah, definitely.
(37:33):
So there will be an in game event from March 25th to April
7th which will be a mini game server where you can play defend
midpoint village with Steve, fight off the piglings with
Garrett, mine for resources withHenry, and protect the payload
(37:56):
with Dawn and Natalie. So those are the four games that
are going to be on that server. It is Bedrock only, but if you
complete them all, you will get a Cape and I assume that Cape
will transfer over to Java just like the Menace and the home
capes did recently. So if you don't know, if you
(38:18):
watch 3 minutes of TikTok Minecraft and three minutes of
Twitch, you'll get those capes. You have to redeem them on
Bedrock and then they show up onJava and they look pretty cool.
They have Jack Black's face on them if you put in a lighter on.
So that's the thing. Yeah, not a fan of that.
Yeah, that that was a bit like maybe not on that one, but yeah,
(38:43):
if you want to get those capes, then do that.
I don't know what date that finishes, but yeah, look that
up. But yeah, the in game event,
Bedrock only unfortunately, but I can play that.
I have a Bedrock account, so I might play it and get the Cape
if I can be bothered. But yeah, the kind of games
inspired by the movie. So yeah, enjoy that.
(39:06):
So a lot of movie content. And our next episode will
probably be our movie recap, I would assume because it's the
end of March or the end of April.
I guess we'll be doing a little little movie recap next episode.
Exciting times, exciting times. But do we have anything else?
(39:30):
I don't think I have anything else.
No, I think that is basically everything that was announced at
the March 2025 Minecraft live, which is what we're going to
have to refer to it as, as this 2A year now.
And so, yeah, it could. Have been an e-mail.
I'm not titled in this episode. It could have been an.
(39:51):
E-mail. It could have been an e-mail,
Carl. It's bad for SEO, OK.
Someone will click that. Someone will Not many people.
So yeah, we have spring to life March 25th, we have the Ghastly
Summer sometime in summer Minecraft movie April 4th and
(40:14):
the in game event March 25th. So yeah, I think that's that'll
do us. Yeah, before I have you read us
