(00:03):
Hi, everyone, Thank you somuch for listening in. I know that
there has been a lot of talkabout, or a lot of questions about,
like what is how to make glitter? I've met with friends and they're
like, what's this glitter thing thatyou're talking about? And I've really been
(00:25):
working on it behind the scenes andmaking sure that it is ready to present
to you all in the most authenticfashion and the way that's gonna most serve
the purpose that has been instilled inme. And so I've been rolling out
(00:49):
pieces here and there about it.So the website is ready and it is
ready to share with you all.So I wanted to give you a firsthand
account of exactly what how to MakeGlitter is. When I came up with
the concept last year, it wasoriginally going to be a book about business
(01:17):
in style, kind of a BrownGirls guide to the pr world, because
I feel like it's very different forus, especially in New York City,
than it is for other girls. And I begin to work on it,
and I began to come up withtopics for it, and I just continue
(01:40):
to have this like internal conflict. And the internal conflict that I had was
something that I've always had, probablyabout year two or three in my business,
and that conflict was how do Iserve God and do my business or
(02:04):
does my business even serve God?Does it give God praise? And some
may argue the fact that your businessdoesn't have to, your job doesn't have
to. And I think that isthe biggest thing that how to make glitter
deals with because as a believer andas a Christian, I think our thought
(02:32):
processes are different than that of theaverage person who is not a believer and
a person who God doesn't govern theirlife, because when you're a believer,
you're governing factor is Christ And soI had this conflict that you know,
(02:55):
sweet public relations. It's it's nota bad company, you know, in
the terms of we know kind oflike the good and evil, but I
didn't feel like it directly honored God, and that was important for me or
I continue to have this question internallyabout how to make those two things happen,
(03:19):
because I believe fundamentally that when yourpurpose meets your passion, then you
have something just extraordinary and something thatis so blessed and something that is so
nurtured. But oftentimes we can't findthat perfect marriage of sorts because we're not
sure what our purpose is, ouroverall purpose for being placed on this planet.
(03:49):
And I had to get clear aboutwhat that was. I have many
talents, you know, not toto my own horn, but I can
sing, I can I I cancook, UM, I can style,
I can do makeup, I canteach uh and I. But those are
(04:14):
those are my talents, um.They my talents and my purpose are separate.
I feel like my talents aid meand the manifestation of my purpose.
But I wasn't clear about what ismy purpose? What was I set on
this earth to do? UM?And that took a lot of growing pains
(04:35):
UM and a lot of discovery UM, a lot of assessment, a lot
of hard questions UM, an extremefaith walk, and I finally got clear
about it. And I found thatmy purpose was to inspire, was to
(04:58):
educate, and was to worship. And so when I looked at my core
business, sweet public relations, Ididn't see where that was happening. So
the task then became what to doso you know, fast forward a year
(05:24):
ago ahead is how to make glitterorder? And then kind of that feeling
arose again, like no, no, no, no, no, what's
your purpose? Like this is agreat idea. And I think as creatives
and as entrepreneurs, we have alot of great ideas, but they manifest
differently, and sometimes we have tobe clear about what fuels these ideas and
(05:46):
where the proper place for them is. So I bought the domain a year
ago and I began to plan, and I understood that business management and maneuvering
through business is really important. AndI think that there are so many books
and personalities out there that discuss howto maneuver through business as a woman,
(06:15):
how to maneuver business through business asa man, how to maneuver through business
as a feminist, how I'm goingto maneuver through business as a New Yorker,
how to maneuver through business as ahopeful. But I hadn't seen anything
that spoke to me about how tomaneuver through business with Christ top of mind.
(06:43):
And that's a real thing again, because if God is governing your life,
then you want your business and yourand the manifestation of that business to
honor Him. I think, atyour core or that's what you should want.
And there's not a lot of talkabout that because I think it has
(07:09):
become a little faux pas to bea Christian in business, and then I
also think that we don't have enoughtools to figure out how to effectively do
that. And it really it's aboutprincipal application. Some of the things that
are our fundamental beliefs as Christians. We have no problem applying them to our
(07:34):
personal relationships, but in our businessrelationships we have a struggle. And it's
really because we're not applying those principlesin a way that makes sense to us.
I find that sometimes we can lookat a business relationship and say,
(07:55):
why is this happening to me?And you know, why did this person
do this? And why did thishappen? Like this? What should I
do next? And we have thesekind of y y y y y questions
UM, when we're not applying thosecore values that actually shape us to who
(08:16):
we are UM. And and thatis that's tough for us. You know,
when someone mistreats us in a businessdeal, we can't believe it.
You know, we try to figureout, you know, how did this
happen, Why did this happen? How could this person do this to me?
I'm a great you know, I'ma great person. I'm a Christian
(08:37):
UM, And we don't apply theprinciple of forgiveness, the principle of understanding,
the principle of helping, the principleof encouraging. Because we can only
see what's been done to us umand I think that when you maneuver through
business, for anyone, you youhave your ups and you have your downs.
(09:01):
And I believe that as a Christian, when these kind of roller coaster
things happen to us sometimes or allthe time, we have a higher We
have an elevated awareness of of thewhy. And when we're seeking those answers
(09:26):
and when we're when we are seekingresolve, the approach is different because we
have that higher power, We havethat faith, we have that level of
expectancy and the yearning for that abundancethat is different from those who are not
rooted and grounded in God. SoI wanted to create something that is a
(09:54):
true expression of what that looks like, what it looks like to be a
Christian entrepreneur. So what you canexpect to see is recordings are podcasts like
these that will deal with different topicson the blog excuse me. On the
(10:18):
website, the blog page will haveeverything from you know, standard business tips
to principal application in personal and businessand how those things can coexist and what
that looks like to successfully implement, and invitations and events to help you grow
(10:45):
and allow that allow these two thingsto exist in really aiding you and supporting
you and making sure that your purpose, your God given purpose, and your
passions divinely align for something greater. So this creation of glitter is the intersection
(11:09):
of my faith, my story,my trials, my triumphs, my experiences,
and really my support of you,the entrepreneur, the creative, the
person that has a dream, theperson that has something in their heart that
(11:33):
they want to bring to life.To provide you with tools, tips,
understanding, reference points of how tosimply make it through and how to create
(11:54):
something that's so fine but absolute, reolutely beautiful. And we all know that
once you throw glitter, it maybe small, and it may be m
very fine grain, but it isinfectious. And that is what I want
(12:18):
to share, um, just thestrategy of of Christian entrepreneurship. This is
my love letter and my labor toChristian entrepreneurs and I'm so happy to share
it with you all. Um.How to Make Glitter will be available in
